Starting point is 00:00:33 Yep. That's how we start this day. Is it starting it? Nah. It's 3 o'clock where I am. Where are you? You just told me, and guess what? I can't hear you because you're behind a computer.
Starting point is 00:00:44 But that's me. You're you? I got a cucumber in my hand. Now I don't. That's what we're doing here on today's show. We're just talking. We're going to review cucumbers and carrots. And I'm going to talk about cheese popcorn.
Starting point is 00:00:57 There's certain things about cheese popcorn I really like. Now, you're wondering yourself, do you think that I am live? Do I know that I'm live? Yeah, I do. I don't give a shit. But what I do care about today is the fact that I'm giddy that I'm winning a steak dinner. That's right. I won a steak dinner.
Starting point is 00:01:14 I won it about four days ago when it crossed 750. But just so John couldn't start saying, well, you said a billion. You said a billion. Fine. I said a billion. Guess what happened? Today, crossed a billion. Deadpool and Wolverine crossed a billion dollars.
Starting point is 00:01:31 You like that shit? Well, it did. And there's other stuff. D23 had so much news. I mean, had so much news. There was, I mean,
Starting point is 00:01:40 we thought, are they going to deliver? You're going to, I mean, we predicted what was going to happen, right? We said, okay,
Starting point is 00:01:45 they're going to show daredevil stuff. They're going to do this. But, I mean, they show tons of stuff. Lots of new movies, lots of new announcements. We'll, we'll do that.
Starting point is 00:01:54 There's other things that we'll get into. Apparently, there's a Blake lively controversy that I have no idea what the hell is happening. I saw somebody threw in a super chat about it already, and Roka apparently knows about it. So he's going to educate me because I don't pay attention to this stuff. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:02:08 But that's it. There's going to be a lot to talk about on this live episode. So if you haven't already hit that button, subscribe to the channel. I already see people throwing in super chats, and I'm so grateful for it. We already have a bunch of them today. Throw those in.
Starting point is 00:02:22 We get to them by the end of the show. And that's it. So I'll get to me and John Roker here on the show. I'm ready. You're ready. Here we go. Oh, there's not the logo. There it is.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. It is the big thing. Today on the show, myself, John Roker. Hello, John. Hello, everyone. How's it going? Good. How long, be honest with me.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Oh, yeah. How long? It's a harsh light. Go ahead, yeah. Before you knew that this, that was over when did you know this probably when i went to go see the screening oh yeah you see the press screening that's what i knew i was like oh it's such a good movie this is going to make a billion dollars yeah and it has i mean look dude this and i know it's going to do it a week i did not but
Starting point is 00:03:19 damn i don't believe how fast that maybe i wouldn't i wouldn't have bet that i wouldn't have bet that no who knows double or nothing if it was going to do it in a week no because you would have lost that's true twice yeah you would have lost twice so and let's see so if we go to Deadpool and Wolverine, the movie, that's perfect, just perfect. Deadpool and Wolverine has now made a billion dollars. And that's just as John said. That is in one week's time. Thus far, hearsay, ho so.
Starting point is 00:03:54 It has made one million, one billion, 29, 531,3382. That's the number 1.29-53182. That's the number today. It's probably going to go up a lot more than, and I think you've mentioned this last time when we're talking about it. It is a, it's got no competition. I'm Romulus will maybe chew off a little bit, but not much. Even though I hear Romulus is fantastic, you and I are both going to see this. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But how much is really going to, with 50, made 54 last weekend. Let's say it makes another 20. It'll make at least 20. Yeah. So, and then it ends with us is that. 50 million, it ends with us made $50 million. Is that part of the controversy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, tell me. 50 million dollars. I already, that's already a controversy. How the hell did that movie make 50 million dollars? Because her name is Mrs. Ryan Reynolds. That's why. But go ahead.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Holy mackerel. Twisters, another 15. Borderlands ate a big pile of duty. And then despicable me for, hang, despicable me for. I'm curious with that one. That's so far, surprisingly enough, made 800 million.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I thought it was. it didn't make a billion. It's not going to make a billion, but got close. That's a quiet 800 million. That's quiet. Yeah. It's a quiet 800 million. But out of those movies,
Starting point is 00:05:16 obviously, we'll get into the controversy and everything. But Deadpole and Wolverine, nothing's going to, I mean, what's going to make? It's going to make 20. And it'll want to make like 1.5 for the,
Starting point is 00:05:25 I think. Oh, shit. Right? I mean more. I think it's going to get close now to 2 billion. I don't know that there's no way. Another bet. No,
Starting point is 00:05:34 we're done. You got you got your one. That's it. One for the next five years. Yeah. No, I think, I think we're looking at one point.
Starting point is 00:05:42 Because what an inside out of gas? You think it's going to run out of gas? Um, not run out of gas, but I think there's only so much that it can do before the people who've wanted to see it or see it twice. I mean, what did inside out to so far.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Yeah. Let's hear what that movie is made. That movie has made so far, 1.5. Uh, 1.6 almost. Right. So it's a shorter movie.
Starting point is 00:06:05 It's not a rated R film. It's a, it's, you know, family movie. Yeah, I'm thinking Deadpool can hit anywhere between 1.5. If it hit 1.7, it wouldn't be surprised. Anything over 1.7, I'd be surprised. Yeah, no, I think two is in the mix now because of how quickly it got to a billion in one week. Like, in one week. So to me, that makes me think this thing has got incredible legs.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And since there's nothing until, like, Beetlejuice on September 6th. and don't get me, alien Romulus, I think he's going to do a nice job at the box office. But this thing is going to, this thing is going to keep dominating. And I imagine, I wouldn't be surprised if they come out,
Starting point is 00:06:43 like, jokingly with a black and white version. I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Add a little more money to it. Yeah, like extra scenes, deleted scenes, like just to keep making money off of this thing.
Starting point is 00:06:53 So I would not be surprised, especially after D23. I would not be surprised that Marvel doesn't double down on this for the next month, you know? Yeah. So before we get to the controversy, Twisters.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Yeah. It makes some more. That movie has already made 310 million. That's a win. I went to see it last week. I did like it. You didn't like it? Oh, I enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I was so surprised. Really? You know I love turning a brain off and be stupid for two hours movies. And it just didn't do it for me. You didn't see. If you don't care about the characters, then you're not going to like the movie. I cared about the characters.
Starting point is 00:07:28 If you're like, I don't care about these people, then there's no world where you're going to like that movie. So, and I assume that's what happened. You just didn't care about them. Yeah, they didn't do good job setting up anybody. Like, oh, this big thing happens to me in the first 10 minutes of the movie. Now I go work for the National Weather Service five years later. And then they're only there for like 30 seconds and then someone talks me out of it.
Starting point is 00:07:46 And it's just like, what? So to me, they just didn't do enough job solidifying the characters from me. But the action, great action sequences. I was here. Maybe I wasn't expecting anything from that movie at all. I was excited maybe you were, you apparently, because people were talking about it. Yes. And it made so much money.
Starting point is 00:08:03 I was expecting nothing from that movie. I was expecting absolutely nothing. I didn't know anything about that, that, Daisy Edgar Jones and any of that stuff. So I'm like, I don't, I don't care about this movie. And I wound up really liking it.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I really liked it a lot of her. I love her. She's great. She was absolutely good. And that movie was the number three movie, and obviously, disagree with me, as we said,
Starting point is 00:08:24 Borderlands is not, I mean, that movie, did you see Borderlands? I have not seen it yet. No. I mean, just so many bad reviews,
Starting point is 00:08:31 dude. I don't know if I want to put myself through. it but I guess yeah yeah it did really it did poor really really poor and um wait wait wait real rejects are in here live are they worry about your own show worry about your own show they're like we're live right now you're being selfish you know what worry about your own show beat it you guys you guys you guys you guys you guys you guys you guys you guys you can sacrifice it get out of here get out you can sacrifice it um but that's perfect much love guys so it's the best i got a million subscribers can i have can i have 20 yours each what you're doing trying to work when i'm working get out of
Starting point is 00:09:06 here scumbag um once once you why don't you get more in shape make you make you make up yeah gregg won't you lose more weight god damn it he looks he looks so good bastard he isn't he's felt right now he looks really good good his ladies has gotten they're both like in yeah wedding shape ironically after getting married so that rarely happened Wait till they have kids. That'll go quick. Fair point. But either way. So this, this, that movie Borderlands does it.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And it's like, I can't remember. I think it was like a zero at Rotten Tomatoes. I'm sure someone came in now and said it was great. Grace did. Did someone say it was great? Raydolls gave it a positive. Hey. I can't, I can't say, I can't say if she's wrong or right.
Starting point is 00:09:55 I didn't, I know. I could wind up being one of those people that says, it's, it's good too. and then. Arloff said it was good, too. I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it. But anyway, let's it. Hold on. Now he's back. He's back. What is it? Yeah. I love it.
Starting point is 00:10:12 You can see me on the phone. We have to tell you. I'm going to call you on the phone right now? Should I call him on the phone? Where's my phone? I'll call him. Notice he doesn't even mention my name. Thanks, Greg. The only other Latino in the room. Appreciate it. He doesn't have, Greg. You blocked him. You blocked him on the.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I've never blocked it, Greg. I don't know, Greg. I think you blocked them. I'm going to call it. That's a sec of shit. I love him. All right, Greg, I'm calling you. This is, this is very meta.
Starting point is 00:10:35 This is so ridiculous. Yes, it is. Let's say. I have a million subscribers. I need a million point one. Yeah. I'm going to take yours. We're doing this.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Are you rating? You're rating my live stream? Get out of here. You're a live stream. 1030, man. 10.30. 10.30. You do, you do eight, you do eight videos a day.
Starting point is 00:10:59 And you do, you do eight videos a day. Yeah. You're doing okay. I need to do my one video. I'm going to put you on our monitor. Perfect. Shouldn't you guys be recording a first time watching video right now? I know.
Starting point is 00:11:15 They're doing a first time watch of our stream right now. I honestly had no idea you do live. Every Monday. Every Monday we do. Wow. Oh, good. Yeah, we normally do them at like a little, I guess it's around this time normally, right, John?
Starting point is 00:11:33 Yeah, sometimes. We've been at 9 in the morning. I haven't sent me any super chats today, Christian. I usually do. You don't ever send me one. Yeah, when you're on, when you're on your, I think when you're on your Disney one, I sent one. You don't send me shit.
Starting point is 00:11:48 You have way more money than I do. Uh, uh, I didn't want with this problem. I never. Literally. Yeah, they have, you know, great, no, Christian and, okay, Christian, John, you have to just quickly peek at our lives. Can we even, you know what I can probably? Yeah, I wonder if I could do it.
Starting point is 00:12:14 So we're going to give them more views? I don't know. You don't have enough views? I mean, I'm going to look at, I'll look at the frame for, for a rejuvacks. I have an X over my face. I don't know, all right, hold on. I'll do it. I've successfully done it. It's just so insanely ridiculous. I love it.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I'm bringing it up. Oh, there it is. John, you cut off my head, man, for guys, too. We get lower. And we get a little lower with me. John, share your screen then.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Then I'll, I'll, uh, all right. This is, this is officially. Yeah, hold on. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Give it to the real rejects to make this the, the most payout. Yeah. Yeah. Look at that. Look at this. Here, look. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Yeah. Yeah, John, look, now I don't even, now I can use their screen. Yeah, do it. Subscribe to Christian's channel and subscribe to my channel. All you million people, head on over to both of our channels for God. That's right. John Roker makes a good point. Hey, wait, guys, can I tell you guys?
Starting point is 00:13:19 Greg, you can't hear John right now. So he made a very good point. I think that is fair. Everybody watching the Real Rejects channel right now should subscribe to both my channel and John Roker's channel. Thank you. Come on. do that guy.
Starting point is 00:13:32 You don't have to do that, there it is. There it is. That's right. To John Roker and Christian's camp. Coy's on there. He's on the Christmas.
Starting point is 00:13:44 That's right. That's true. A lot of cross over. This is the most chaotic thing I've ever been a part of. I'm literally getting a headache. You could be. You should be there.
Starting point is 00:14:00 We're going to cover the Blake lively controversy. Thanks, guys. All right. Bye, guys. That was absolute chaos. Oh, I just called somebody. Oh, sorry, I should turn that off there. No, it was good.
Starting point is 00:14:18 That was, I mean, that was a lot of fun. That was a lot of fun. I mean, Greg, Greg is just, he really is a wonderful human thing. I love it. Is it not cool. Yes. So, all right, we got through all these things here. We got through all the
Starting point is 00:14:31 the bad ones in borderlands. We got through Deadpool and Wolverine hitting a billion dollars. So tell me, what the hell is this? This movie makes $50 million a big lively movie, which how much did it cost to me? Oh, that's a good question.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Probably not that much. I can't imagine how much she's worth or how much she's going to get paid for the for the work she did on the film because, I mean, she's the lead in the film, but I don't know, you know, how much Blake is her quotes, because I don't know any big films that have had Blake as a lead that have made a lot of money. So, well, they say, serious.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Cameron was close to like $40 million. So it made, if it's, if it's not bad, that's, oh, 25. 25 million. I mean, 55 and it's so many, so it makes 55 just because she's, you know, because Deadpool Wolverine is pushing. not the movie too is that yeah yeah because Ryan did some of the some of the uh press for the film okay and I think the marketing they did for the film although I found it to be incredibly inauthentic seems to have worked because they they kind of pitched it as this kind of meat cute like romantic
Starting point is 00:15:47 comedy type of thing like all the press for it there's like flowers beautiful flowers and sets she was selling her hair product and shit at the premiere but the film is about domestic violence a woman gets involved with a man. They get married. He starts to beat her and stuff. They have a child together. So the film is very much about domestic violence and climbing out of domestic violence. But the controversy comes because a lot of people noticed that the entire cast unfollowed the director, Justin Baldoni. And that guy is like very well known in Hollywood for being a guy who supports a lot of women who's very much one of these like progressive men who he has a podcast talking about how men can handle mental health and deal with their mental health he's very he supports a number of
Starting point is 00:16:31 causes here that address situations like domestic violence and helping women through those situations so what she he wanted to do it seems like is honor the spirit of the novel that colin hoover wrote and explore why women stay with men who i've who are who are charming but they're also violent and brutal and abusive why do men women's statement. But it seems like Blake wanted to make a different cut that focused it more on like the rom-com aspect of it all, her becoming empowered or whatever. And that's what ended up causing problems. And Ryan and her brought in the Deadpool and Wolverine editor to cut the film the way she wanted it to be cut. But they issued, but they did test screenings for both of the cuts.
Starting point is 00:17:17 His cut tested higher than hers. But in the end, her cut is the one. one that won out and the one is in theaters. And there's rumors behind the scenes that she said she felt uncomfortable working with him. But then some other people pushed back and said that it was a setup and that she did this to take control of the movie away from him, him and Ryan, or her and Ryan rather, did this. That's what the controversy is. Controversy is more so that he was just kind of thrown out of his own movie. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:17:45 And they bullied him out of his own movie. And now she did it apparently because she wants to direct the sequels. and he said it on the red carpet. I think Blake's going to take this one over. I'm thinking I'm going to step back and she's going to direct the sequel. So it was a power move and all these people are bringing up like past stuff where Ryan has thrown his weight around. Like with Underground 6 or Six Underground rather, like with Jay Bayona taking the film away from him allegedly. And then the stuff with Deadpool and Tim Miller kicking Tim Miller off of Deadpool.
Starting point is 00:18:11 So there's just been a history of this stuff going around. And Blake's got her own stuff in the background too. So it's a big mess right now. But the film made $50 million. dollars so that was my counter there right my counter's like well you know you could say well i don't know she took over the movie and she took it over her instincts his thing was testing higher and it didn't bomb it made it made 51 million dollars on a 25 million dollar budget overperformed by like 10 to 15 million way over performed and probably going to so that becomes a trickier argument and now it's a different
Starting point is 00:18:46 conversation and different controversy if you're saying well i felt uncomfortable and this happened this happened and that stuff didn't happen. And then it was just to get somebody off of the movie. Yeah. That's a different conversation. That's what some TikTokers are in for insinuating and they're getting, um, emails from people who worked on the set. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:03 So I mean, that's kind of stuff. We can speculate all day. We don't, you have no idea. We wouldn't be able to know anything about what happened. But as far as if you're going to say, well, here's, here's what's presented. So on Blake had a cut director had a cut. Blake wanted to do this, but the director's cut tested higher, but they still put blakes out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Well, Blake's movie made some money. Yeah. So if I'm the studio or if I'm any of anybody else, I'm going at that point, it doesn't matter what tested. And maybe testing was wrong. Testing can be wrong. Yeah. And look, the author's books are very popular.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Can't deny that. Colleen Hoover hasn't. But I mean, there are plenty of popular authors who do film adaptations in those films don't do well. So there was a lot of mix of stuff that made this thing work and make it make money. True. All right. So we're going to move on past.
Starting point is 00:19:49 the box office, past everything else, past the wonderful live stream that we're doing in, the real rejects apparently are doing at the same time. And we're going to let you know, because we're going to cover the D-23 stuff. We're going to cover a lot of that news. But before we do, I want you to wipe your ass. That's right. Don't wipe your ass. Right. What? He just said wipe you up and don't. That's right. I want you to go and use a tushy. That's right. Use tushy. And then afterwards, get some energy and liquid IV. Starting point is 00:24:32 This is a well-built house, man. I don't feel anything. Yeah, it's also. It's pretty big. Well, you're in the, I mean, the San Diego area, but still, holy moly. Yeah. There's like a whole bunch of them that keeps hidden. Yeah, the one over the weekend was about an hour or 15 minutes away.
Starting point is 00:24:46 So I was shocked. I didn't feel that one. I got the hell out. I got the hell out in the right amount of time. Yeah, man. Oh, yeah, for sure. Anyway, well, let's move on. We have some other things to talk about.
Starting point is 00:24:58 And one of the things that hit over the weekend was this D23. There was a lot of stuff. There was so much stuff that came out. And we weren't really sure because Comic-Con and Marvel usually is the one who shows up the most. But it wasn't really just marvel at the end. I mean, they didn't even close with Marvel. Close with Snow White. Yeah, they closed with Snow White.
Starting point is 00:25:20 And I'll bring that one up first because I'm going to bring. up first did you and i noticed you didn't react to that one i was surprised no because i mean i did a reaction to moan and it did dirt so like i deleted it after two hours uh and just left up the skeleton crew one well i knew you know yeah i knew white was going to do well you did yeah because of the controversy both controversy smart and i said i want to look at it because my my point was i want to take a look and i want to react to it because yeah people and what a bunch of dumb comments though that came in there was one there was one comment that came in and said oh the only reason he's reacting to it now is because he's going to the far right quarter and try to go hate cells every have you seen
Starting point is 00:25:59 his acolyte stuff and it's like first of all more on face if you watch my accolite stuff you realize that i was rooting for it the whole time and it just happened to not be a good show and i watched him was waiting for it to get better and it just didn't but second of all more on face what you would also realize is that they're like well he's saying that in with uh with with with that particular he's not even accurately saying what she said she never said she she didn't uh like the movie she did she essentially did say that. She was saying that she didn't, that she didn't believe that it held up to the, to what it was now was dated, that she had she, that the guy was a stalker, that it was, she, she said all of those things. And you can really say it when you look at,
Starting point is 00:26:36 at the red carpet interview where she said all of those things. And there was definitely some cleanup from Disney. And it was supposed to come out last year. There was the, the versions of the, like, six foot, there weren't even elves. Yeah. Or, you know, dwarves, rather. they were whatever they were and it's like what are you doing so then they put the trailer out and this trailer is clear damage control trailer completely like it is it it seems very much like you know it could be a different movie when they show it in the theater but it's a it's way more um in line with the original movie they even opens up with whistle while you work the cg i dwarves are they I don't know why they didn't they just get real dwarfs.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Because Peter Dinklage said that he was tired of seeing little people cast in these roles and that this is the only thing we can do. We can do other things. So essentially saying like he didn't want this to continue the stigma of what little people are cast in. But who is he? Who is he to take away jobs from other people? I don't know. He's one of the most famous people out there.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And he just felt that that was an issue and voiced his concern. I mean, it was on Disney to listen or not listen. And apparently they did. What did you see in the overall trailer? You see what I'm doing? I'm in a lot of weird places about it because I didn't mind the CGI dwarves. I don't mind that. It's a fantastical story.
Starting point is 00:28:00 It's a fairy tale. I don't have an issue with it, right? If they'd used real people or the CGI, I don't think I would have cared either way, to be honest. I just, it's confusing to me. You'll have to convince me how, I don't know why you cast Galkadoat as the evil queen. because like she's one of the most gorgeous women on the planet. And she's the one of Cinderella. Like it just doesn't make sense.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Do you know what I'm saying? It, well, and she look, Rachel is a beautiful. Charlie Staron, Julia Roberts have all played the queen before. Yeah, and I didn't like either of those versions either. But the thing, but the queen, it's, if you go back to the animated version, is, that's the whole point is that it's her, it's, she's not a, she is a good looking woman. Right.
Starting point is 00:28:46 Now, the question is whether you compare is Snow White better looking? Yeah, right. Hey, I think the original queen in the animated series is hotter than Snow White. So what do you say? But I think it's the point is that she is allowing this, you know, the thought of the jealousy and all that where it's not necessary. And even though she is a beautiful woman that she's allowing this to happen, that the true ugliness comes out at the end. Yeah, through the form of the apple and the old. bitter woman. So that never really bothers me as about, you know, when you're cast in the
Starting point is 00:29:21 the hot queen because it's like even even more so that I think that you look at it and you go Gal Gadot, shut your ass. You're like you're gorgeous. What are you what are you jealous about? And then it's like yeah, well, it corrupted her. But to me it's it just it just seems like they said, well, look, we have to show people that this is actually a version of the animated movie. It's not and it's not this warrior, princess thing that she is because we saw that we saw that with uh with uh what's her face christin stewer right yeah with christin stewart yeah exactly you know so but i just don't think she fits i love her to pieces rachel and i want her to succeed and continue to succeed
Starting point is 00:30:01 as a latina actress as a young actress who's taken in an insane amount of crap from people i just don't know if this is the right role she didn't look like she fit at all and then some of the singing i was like especially the extended stuff that leaked online where she's like going oh, oh, oh, oh, you're like, I don't, this is, this is not for me. And she's a great voice. Yes, she's a fantastic voice. Here's the thing, no, that I'm going to be curious about because, and it's the same conversation that I probably had myself with the Transformers want.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Now, I saw this trailer when clearly there was damage control on and it's like, doesn't look like anything that I really care to see it. Right. Showed my 12 year old, showed my 6 year old. They want to see it. They're not paying attention. controversy. They're not paying attention to this stuff. So the question is,
Starting point is 00:30:49 do they want to see it and will enough parents take their kids to see it? That's where it's going to come to play. It's not people who are complaining about Rachel Ziegler and what she said. It's not. It's where they're not now those people, if they have kids, and we're not going to see that.
Starting point is 00:31:06 We're not going to see that movie because maybe, maybe. It could be two things. One, the controversy of the Ricarpa, but also because it's a Latina playing Snow White and they might have an issue with that as well. And so I don't know how parents will react to it overall, but yeah, we'll see. But you're like you said, you showed it to your two daughters and they're in. So they're in their demographic, you know.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Right. But we'll we'll see how that plays. But then other stuff that came out throughout it, that was the thing that ended towards, that was the end. It was a true and a half three hour panel, right? Ellen will definitely got to talk about is the skeleton crew. And I saw you, I watched reaction on skeleton crew. And then we had, we had, we had,
Starting point is 00:31:44 similar thoughts when it came to the tone. They hit the tone that they wanted to. Yes. It was very amblin. It was very like us growing up as kids like that 80. You can tell that John Watts was inspired by that. And that's what he wanted to do. It definitely felt like a JJ Abrams movie trying to be an amblin thing, though,
Starting point is 00:32:07 that was outside of Star Wars. I didn't, minus like, you know, the fact that there's a Jedi with using the force and it didn't feel like it was part of Star Wars to me. It doesn't mean it's going to be bad. Just didn't feel like it was part of Star Wars. It looked like, and people were talking about the suburbs and all that stuff too. It's like it's in a different planet, but it felt different. It didn't feel like Star Wars, but it looked high production.
Starting point is 00:32:32 It looked like a cool sci-fi fantasy show. It just didn't look like Star Wars. Does that make sense? Yeah, I guess you can say it. I guess I can see how you might feel that way. I mean, but I'm with you. I mean, like the obviously we saw, as you mentioned, my reaction, the ambulance stuff is totally there. it's Goonies, it's stand by me.
Starting point is 00:32:46 It's, you know, it's even has shades of Raiders of the Lost Ark with finding this documentary of Jedi Temple. So it's, it's very much 80s, right? Going on an adventure. And so I like that energy. It's interesting you say that the, the, the, the J.J. Abrams, because is that, are you making reference like Super 8, which was essentially, yeah, is trying to do a Steven Spielberg UFO type of movie.
Starting point is 00:33:06 It felt like you great. Yeah. So that's interesting to see, because I didn't mind Super 8. Didn't 100% get there, but I didn't mind it. But I think there's a magic. here that I liked from this, and I didn't mind the suburbs thing. I didn't Bob, but the production value will be interesting to see. We saw Jude Law only at the end.
Starting point is 00:33:22 We did see the new Republic classrooms there that were very similar to what we see in like Mandalorian. So I was okay with that. But I think it's going to be about the storytelling, man. It's really about the storytelling. That's important things. That's why when it comes to it, like I can say it all day long that it doesn't feel like it's part of the Star Wars thing.
Starting point is 00:33:43 And even if I go and I watch it and it has a good story and it's got good characters and it's crafted right. And I'm not asking like, why that dopey person do that dopey thing? And why that's like an actual story I care about? Then I'll get past the fact. I'm like, okay, it just feels like it's in a different. This is their, the way that they're crafting this. And it's like almost like a science fiction fantasy thing that happens to be part of the Star Wars world. They want it to be.
Starting point is 00:34:06 And fine, I'll get over it because the story is so damn good and the writing is so damn good. Yeah. And I don't care. It's just that I couldn't get over that with that. with the act like because the writing was atrocious. The writing was atrocious in Assoca. The writing was atrocious in Obi-One. It's like right.
Starting point is 00:34:20 I mean, Andor, Andor feels like Blade Runner sometimes. I don't care. I don't care. It feels, it's awesome because it feels like, you know, that sometimes it doesn't feel as Star Warsy.
Starting point is 00:34:31 I don't care because it's such a damn good show. Yeah. Yeah. Some of the clips they showed and footage they showed or leaked from Andor season two looks incredible. So again, It's like what my Vogue says on the geek buddies is right. It's like the greatest thing to happen to Star Wars in a while and also one of the worst things because everything is compared.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Right. Andor and it's a high bar. It's a high bar to clear. And not a lot and hardly really honestly, none of the shows that have come out after Andor and maybe none of the shows that came before Andor have come close to matching and or in the Star Wars universe. And that's that's just an opinion. But I feel like it's the truth. It is the truth.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And I think that it's less about though, John, that it's it's hard. It's a harder thing to accomplish, right? Because I don't think they're trying to. That's the problem. Yeah, well, it's something you keep referencing, the reason why they're not trying. It's one thing if they're like, hey, we want to try to strive to be like Andor and do things.
Starting point is 00:35:28 And when we say that, we don't mean dark and dreary and everything. We don't mean that. We mean more just like well-crafted out. Like it feels like it could be on right after House of the Dragon. You know, it could be on. HBO Max if if but these particular shows like you put and or you could you could have had and or on HBO Max and it felt like it was 100% so doesn't feel like it belongs on HBO max and it feels like a Disney show and yeah it's the type of thing well it's on Disney Plus what do you expect and I'm we're
Starting point is 00:35:59 talking about quality yeah quality more so than anything else and I hope because and and they just released the old man trailer the season two right before we went on one on the air I want to take a look of that one. Yeah, I want to take a look at that too. And that show is incredible. You and I both love that show. That's the thing that I'm saying myself, well, look, John Watts, I'm hoping is going to push back a little bit if he's told, well, can you make you, can you do this little faster, stronger, more intense? And he's like, no, this is going to be about these kids. That's the first thing people are going to say. And they see kids and they're going to go, oh, I can't relate to this. And it does feel like a show that is like a kid's kind of a, adventure like they did in the 80s but those shows and movies did those movies rather did pretty damn good stuck with us for a long time yeah I agreed yeah yeah so I mean if they nail it though I mean I think this could be a really good show if it brings people together like you know what I'm saying like we haven't had something to bring us together in a while I think I was mentioning this last week
Starting point is 00:37:01 if this show comes out and it's like universally beloved by both sides of the star wars fandom or all the sides I guess I would say um I think that's going to be a great thing and no better time to do it than now. Certainly Star Wars needs it. So hopefully it does that. And hopefully people love it and enjoy it. I'm hoping I do. Me too.
Starting point is 00:37:21 I mean, it's the thing. When people say dumb things like, oh, you just want to hate cells. That's why you don't like it. No, I didn't like it because it wasn't good. If it's good, I'm going to talk about how, like, if everybody hates this show, skeleton crew, and I love it,
Starting point is 00:37:36 I'm going to be on and, and no one's going to watch your episodes. If you tell me how much you love it, well, then no one's going to watch my episodes. Because if I love it, I love it. If I hate it, I hate it. And that's how it's got to work. You don't just follow it it because it's the popular thing to do. I'm just fascinated how many people who've never been successful in YouTube seem to have opinions about how to be successful on YouTube. It's fascinating.
Starting point is 00:37:55 But it should they see, but it's just that same and it really does come from both sides of it, too, because I feel, yeah, 100%. I saw so many far left people on the channel saying like, oh, he's the only reason he's talking about Snow White, not, you know, having controversy because he knows that that's what sells now. And it's like, go juggle something. Yeah, we just had a guy in here, I don't know what their gender is, but they run their comment.
Starting point is 00:38:22 They go, oh, Roca, why do you hate all Latina actresses? You went in J-Lo, now you're going after Zegler. And it's like, what is wrong with you all? You, you. You, who's who literally, who literally says on your Twitter profile, a Latino host. Proud Latino, yeah. You can't win.
Starting point is 00:38:41 You can't win. I've taken, I mean, how many shots I've taken defending and wanting representation? And if I have legitimate criticism of some people, it's like, oh, you hate them now. But that's the whole thing is you can't hold back on it. You got to,
Starting point is 00:38:52 you got to say what's on your mind. And it's the same thing. Look, and I've said it many times over it. People say, why do you still talk about Star Wars if you don't love it anymore? I do love Star Wars very much so. I just think it's a very piss poor status right now.
Starting point is 00:39:05 And in the same way that I've talked about it many times with like, with your favorite sports team you're just hoping your sports team gets together i'm rooting for skeleton group i really hope it's good me too pretty telling that didn't merely mention the the ray movie right they didn't mention the ray movie i know at d23 they didn't mention the the well the potential movie with um shan movie oh yeah yeah yeah they just know they just talked mandolarian mandolarian and grugu worst title of all time that they did they did finally give it a date um yes but that was it that was the only thing that they really talked about movie wise was that movie. So who knows? Who knows what if they're going to be able to get their stuff
Starting point is 00:39:44 together, we shall see. I see some more super chats coming in. We are going to be doing a few more of these D-23 stories and then we'll be wrapping it up and taking your questions for sure. Before we do that, John, tell the people where can they find you and what's going on on the John Roker channel. Yeah, please head on over to the outlaw nation. YouTube.com slash John Roka says. that's where I'm at R-O-C-H-A-H-A-Jew. People may know by now. But yeah, we just did our review, or we just did our D-23 review yesterday live
Starting point is 00:40:13 with the geek buddies, Michael Vogel and Jenna McLung. And then we're dropping our Caped Crusader spoiler review today at 3 p.m. Finally, we all got a chance to watch all the episodes and talked about it. So it was a lot of fun there. But then we got Hot Mike coming up a little bit later on in the week. We just dropped our new episode of the Jedi Way
Starting point is 00:40:28 that's up there a couple of days ago. And more stuff coming. Reactions and reviews and stuff coming. course this week I think we'll have an episode of Spill the Tequila with Wednesday Marshall and I having some fun about going about the post-Olympics type of conversation which I think will be fun for all of you all but yeah come on head on over to YouTube.com slash John Roker says get me to 50,000 subscribers I'd appreciate it. Please do and John's here we are doing our show we do our show on Mondays we have
Starting point is 00:40:55 like I said we have questions coming in and we're going to get to those but do more stuff that was going on and look the big one we can talk about let's talk a new Mufasa, right? Mufi was the second trailer. I didn't watch the second trailer yet. I know that I'm going to wind up seeing, and I'm not overly excited about this movie. I didn't watch the second trailer,
Starting point is 00:41:14 but I'm curious. Did you wind up watching that trailer? Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot. I think it's a little bit better than the first trailer in that you get. What's that? Yeah, I thought the first trailer was okay.
Starting point is 00:41:25 I thought it was okay. Okay. But this trailer was much better because it actually focused on the story, and you find out that in the trailer, So it's not a spoiler. He's on the trail that Mofasa is adopted. And so that's why him and Scar have different accents.
Starting point is 00:41:42 And so you, but Scar is the one who has the family. So you wonder what happens that they choose Mufasa over Scar to be the king of the pride, leader of the pride. So this is going to be, because they are like best friend throughout the whole trailer. So it's leading towards a tragic breakup between the two, kind of like the Transformers One trailer with Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Starting point is 00:42:03 on. So that's an interesting approach that they're going down. It's very similar to Moses and Ramsey's in the Bible. So I think that's an interesting thing to explore with Mufasa. So I liked it. And the animation looked great. Yeah. The only reason that I'm kind of fingers crossed is Barry Jenkins. It's the only reason. It's my fingers are crossed on on that. But yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll see. We'll see. I don't know. I didn't. There was the stuff I got most excited for. Yeah. Was some of the, like, oh, I didn't see any of the Tron stuff. I haven't heard anybody talk about the Tron stuff. Yeah, there's some nice stuff online.
Starting point is 00:42:39 If you go to Twitter, there's nice Tron-Ary shots of the footage that we got that looks, I think it looks fantastic. I want Tron to be good. Is that punk coming back for the score? That's nine-inch nails. They're reuniting to do the score for this for this one. Okay, that's right. That's right. I did see that.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I remember Ellis and I went. That was one of our first movies. Not one. Yeah, it was one of our first ones that we saw the press screenings for. I think it was 2010 or 2011. I can't remember. I think it was 2011 because True Grit was the first one. But we went, we saw that one.
Starting point is 00:43:10 And I remember back then, we were just crossing our fingers. The first Tron movie, you go back, it's really dated. It's not very good, but it's got great premises behind it. And so does this one. And they, it was like, the sequel was like ahead of its time. Yes. Deep fake looked atrocious. Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:29 I wonder if they do it again now because the deep, I mean, you see better, way better, deep face on TikTok now. I mean, it's, so I'm so curious to see. I'm hoping. I'm so hoping that this is going to be good. Do you have hopes for the new Toronto? Yeah, I hope so because it's going to be in the real world, as opposed to in that world. They have their setup.
Starting point is 00:43:52 So it's supposed to be out in the real world. So I imagine, though, go back to that world, but it's supposed to be. How do they do it in the real world? I don't know how they get out. I don't know how they get out, but something. how they get out because you see the scenes that they have online, they're all out in the real world. So I'm going to be curious to see how they make that all work. But to me, I champion Tron so hard.
Starting point is 00:44:10 I love the, I mean, the nostalgia of the first film for sure. The second film is beautiful, great soundtrack and good ideas, not fully quite realized as greatly as you would like it to be. So I'm hoping this one kind of hits it all out of the park and it's a good thing because even that Tron Uprising animated series was fantastic. So I want to see more of this stuff, you know. I think this is the last gas. If it doesn't do well,
Starting point is 00:44:33 it'll be more. But if it does well, then they got a shot. They announced a Lilo. The Lilo and Stitch Live Action was something that they had announced a bit, but they showed a little bit of a thing. I guess it's like really moving in motion now.
Starting point is 00:44:45 I'm curious to see how that one comes out. The Incredibles 3 I didn't see coming. That was one of the they announced. Toy Story 5. What do I think about? Is that we said? What do you think about that? I mean, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:44:59 I mean, I always look at these things, too, when there's two ways to look at it, right? The first is the business side of it when you're looking and you say, okay, does this make sense business-wise? And it always makes sense business-wise. The question is, are you risking the integrity of the IP by doing it? Because they've had four episodes, or they've had four movies that have been pretty good.
Starting point is 00:45:24 I like the fourth movie. They've had four movies that are pretty good. So the question is, now, can you do the fifth? because you're tempting fate every time you do another one. You got to, I mean, you're going to get a Rocky 5 eventually. It's going to happen eventually. True. And if you can, so there's a risk behind it because you don't, because then the problem is if you
Starting point is 00:45:42 do a crappy fifth one, well, we don't like that one. Let's do six one now, right? But if you can take the risk, do it. Incredibles three, do it. If you can, if you have the story, they've, they've had enough trust with like, look what they've done with Inside Out. Look what they've done. Same thing, Frozen Three.
Starting point is 00:45:59 It's like you see these silly comments on online with some of the critics going, oh, Disney, all they do is sequels and this. And is it a corporate corporate. That's what they do. They're a corporation. What are you doing? That's what they do. It's like any corporations are going to try to make money with more of their products.
Starting point is 00:46:14 It's on you to not go or not. If they make crap, then don't see it. And if it's crap, don't go. And if it's crap say it's crap. But the risk, is it worth the risk on four movies that have done well? Yeah, I think it's worth the risk. Yeah. It seems interesting because the one piece of footage or the one piece of artwork they released is a young girl looking at her tablet while the toys are at the edge of the bed completely being ignored.
Starting point is 00:46:38 And I think that makes it topical. How is this? Because a lot of people have been saying in the toy industry. Kids are not playing with toys anymore. They're much more consumer their tablets. So what's the commentary that the film is going to make? And Woody is in the shot. So how does Woody come back?
Starting point is 00:46:52 That's the big question. And then they announced 50 malfunctioning buzz light years are. going to be the villain. So it seems like they're over-correcting for not having Tim Allen in the Buzz Lightyear movie. And they're like, well, we've got to give him 50 different characters to play now. So it'd be fascinating. It would be interesting. And so that makes sense to me. And someone's like, oh, does that mean they should do an Indiana Jones six? No, it was a movie bombed. If someone came back and said, we got Harrison back. Yeah. To do a $50 million, dollar Indiana Jones movie you know then and it's a small movie yeah and it's just it's old adventure
Starting point is 00:47:32 because right away you're working against I don't want to see that anymore because last one wasn't good and it cost but if it's 40 million 50 million dollars in order to try to do it give it a shot yeah but but I don't think that they should and I don't think he's going to do it for that because he's making movies now he's even said it why why'd you do the marvel movie because they pay well right yeah yeah that's about as honest as it gets he's he's trying to do everything he can he's got You know, as many years left in the tank that he's gotten, he's putting in all this bank account for his family down the line. You know, it's like so good on him.
Starting point is 00:48:02 And then what's got to live on something? 100%. What else you, but what else did the, I think that besides the Marvel stuff, obviously, but when we had, what was it?
Starting point is 00:48:12 There was the Tron. There was, uh, yeah, the guest rock announced the new movie. They showed the Moana to truck stuff. Yeah, the monster trucks.
Starting point is 00:48:20 So there's the same thing like, you know, because our buddy PJ Campbell was like, oh yeah, right. And he goes, no thanks to monster dress. You haven't even seen what the movie's about.
Starting point is 00:48:28 How do you say no thanks? You don't even know yet. I just like one of those right away say, no, I don't like what Rock's doing. So no, it's like, look at real steel in the same. Real steel is a movie that should not have been good. Real steel is fantastic.
Starting point is 00:48:42 It's such a freaking good movie. I love that film. And when you announced that movie coming out, who wanted to see that? Yeah, yeah. Well, the two things also, Daredevil Born Again, right? I mean, that one, they released some more footage for Marvel.
Starting point is 00:48:57 And then Agatha all along, there were stuff there. Let's see what else. Well, all the Marvel stuff. We can go into Marvel announcement because they did, they did Agatha. They did Ironheart. They did, I mean, there was the main stuff. War II. Daredevil Born again.
Starting point is 00:49:14 And then they showed some of the Captain America stuff, the Red Hulk. And that was the main stuff. But Deer Devil from what I saw. And that was the only thing that I saw. because I did see I was scrolling through Twitter and I saw it. There was somebody who got it clear on. It didn't look. It wasn't one of these things where someone was shooting it from up here.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I think I read your Twitter and I think you're 100% right. Yeah. That like Disney was like, yeah, somebody recorded it. Let it, let it fly. Yeah. There's no way they did that with a shot like this. I mean, it was shot dead on. It looked right.
Starting point is 00:49:48 It looked. It was fantastic quality. You could hear everything. And that trailer looked awesome. Yeah. It looked exactly like Netflix. It looked exactly what they were doing. The way that they set it up, the way that they got the Punisher involved,
Starting point is 00:50:02 the way they got Foggy and Karen involved, I'm on board. Sometimes you overthink things, man, right? Like these studios overthink things like, let's go into no different direction. Let's explore something. We're going to make it our own. And it's like, people just want to go back into the world because they feel unsatisfied with the way the Netflix thing ended. So why not just still scratch that itch for people?
Starting point is 00:50:23 And certainly this trailer did. I mean, looks fantastic. And those of us who've read the Born Again storyline in the comics, it's exciting to see a coming live action. I mean, foggy looks older. He's got the beard. Deborah's back. And Punisher's throwing, you know, Matt against the locker.
Starting point is 00:50:37 So clearly there's going to be trouble between those guys. And Kingpin and Matt working together against Muse, the villain, I think that's going to be real exciting. So there's a lot of fun stuff to explore with all the characters and where they're going to go in that. So yeah. It's going to be a big year for Marvel next year. Oh, yeah. Because they have, I mean, they have Captain America.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Thunderbolts, they got Daredevil, they have Ironheart. Agatha's later this year. Agatha's this year. Now, Agatha, from what they said, people, I'm so curious to how that's going to land, right? Because I feel like it's going to land, and this is a, this is a compliment. I think it's going to land like Werewolf by night or at night, whatever it was. Yeah, yeah, Warfare Night. I think it's going to land like that, meaning, oh, that was really, that was a, that was, that was good. What a, what a fun Halloween type of thing to watch and then it has nothing to do with anything and you never hear from Agatha ever again.
Starting point is 00:51:25 I think that's the way they should go. What are what are you going to do with Agatha? Her and Aubrey Plaza are going to be on cracking jokes when they're fighting against Doom. I mean, yeah, well, the thing with Agatha, and it seems really clear that Joe Locke is one of the kids grown up from Wanda Vision. So I think what they're doing is still moving towards the Young Avengers route. and so I think they're using her that show to do that but also to turn her into kind of an anti-hero
Starting point is 00:51:55 with Agatha so I think she's going to stick around because she's a big big part of the Wanda Scarlet Witch Vision situation in the kids so I wonder how that's going to play into the overall general MCU stuff and look Secret Wars is going to pit a lot of people who are going to be on the same side who were against each other So I think that's going to be another reason why they're going to redeem her to it.
Starting point is 00:52:20 But Aubrey's going to be interesting. I don't know. I think Aubrey is the main villain in this without people suspecting it. And I think that's going to be. Yeah, you could see that. And then, and of course, oh, they showed Johnny Storm's costume. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:31 So they showed a couple more things fantastic for. And how that's going to. And that's another movie that comes out in 2025. So that Marvel has a, has a major 2025. And they really need Captain America to hit. So do they expect more of a push? on that movie as it starts to come out. Hence why you have so much on the Red Hulk, Harrison Ford, because I get to see Harrison Ford is the Hulk. You know, like that alone is going to get people into the theater.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Yeah. So I think that we'll see. I'm hoping for that movie because that movie can't make money. It can't. For the amount of money, they've already spent, unless it makes a billion dollars, which even then I, because it's already, they've shot two movies and the budget has to be over 422. million dollars oh yeah you have at the very least so they know that this this is going to be they're hoping at the very much they didn't get some of that back and they can get the they're fighting for the goodwill you get the goodwill back and push all that money to yeah underbolts that's that was the risk that they took and because Deadpool is probably going to make some of that budget back next weekend they they have nothing to lose at this point um what do you think
Starting point is 00:53:39 about them not mentioning thunderbolts they didn't play anything talk about it mentioned well they talked about because here's here I was surprised they even talked about Captain America. Oh really? Okay. The focus was on the Marvel television. Right. Focus was supposed to be just MCU television. They did all the stuff at Comic-Con. They did Thunderbolts and they did the big presentation. So it wasn't like it was ignored. It just was the reason that they're focusing so much on Captain America because it's next in the camp. It's the next. It's the next thing. So let's if we're going to talk about any movie, let's talk about that one because that's one we got to focus on right now. Comic-Con was to show everything
Starting point is 00:54:12 coming up. This is just the next one we got. It's all television except that one. That's important. Show Harrison as a Red Hulk and get it fresh in everybody's brain because the last thing we want to do is show that then show Thunderbolts and they're talking about Thunderbolts and they're not talking about Captain America. Yeah, and
Starting point is 00:54:28 it's clear these, Comic Con and then D23 back to back. Marvel has a new strategy in how they're talking about their stuff. You don't have Kevin Feigy walking out there going and then in three years we're going to do this. And in four years, they're all just talking about their current projects
Starting point is 00:54:45 or their projects that are coming up that are already finished. They are not fantastic four, but Fantastic Four is, you know, it's being shot already. So yeah, being shot at the time.
Starting point is 00:54:54 And it also, it loops into the greater things. They didn't show like a big trailer or any of that. They just, they showed a little bit of like the little behind the scenes thing with the cast and right. But it wasn't like a big focus like it was at more at Comic-Con. But Captain America got the focus.
Starting point is 00:55:10 So, um, yeah, so D-23. A lot of stuff came out. It was almost like a three-hour panel. I mean, the fact that they started it at seven of three-clock at your time, dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:21 I was a bed by one in the morning. I was exhausted. I was like, what? People were saying it. My last video that I did was a snow white one. I was like half asleep. You watch that video. You watch that trailer reaction.
Starting point is 00:55:34 I am, I am sleeping. I am sleeping. I really, you know what I could have used? Oh, boy, here we go. Plug, plug, plug. But this wasn't even, this isn't even on the, this is to show you, magic mind. I'm just doing magic mind right now because I thought of it because of that. That's how organic it is.

Starting point is 00:56:00 My mind gets, hence magic mind, gets me kind of moving. It's got the adaptogens, got everything. I, for when I, when I'm using it, man, I love it. I love magic mind. But that wasn't even, that was just me talking about. magic mind. That was it, just like that. But I will tell you about somebody else. And that means everything. Ask your doctor about Skyrizzi, the number one dermatologist prescribed biologic in psoriasis. Visit Skyrizi.com or call 1866 Skyrizzi to learn. more. Dead.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Here we go again. What are you doing, John? Come on. What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you? You fart into the microphone. Come on.
Starting point is 01:01:24 I'll do a review next. Perfect. All right, let's get into some of these questions. It's unbelievable. It's disgusting. Mike, come on. What are you doing in the microphone? Some of earthquakes.
Starting point is 01:01:35 All right, let's get into some of these questions. Because there was a lot of good ones here. A lot of great questions. I got a bunch of questions for you, Roka. What are you doing? Johnny venerable I will say that Mando the Mando leak trailer having
Starting point is 01:01:49 Empire Strikeback Stormtroopers got me excited. Tone looks closer early seasons. Best cast and the villain for the film. I would assume Thrawn right? It's going to be is Thrawn going to be I guess maybe not maybe does show up. I'm not sure. It depends on when it lands. But I did say
Starting point is 01:02:05 I think that this is John Fabros like first this is his Star Wars movie right? He is a big original trilogy guy. He's not a big prequel guy. He's a big original trilogy guy. I feel like this movie, out of all the movies
Starting point is 01:02:18 that have come out thus far, maybe Rogue One, but this movie's going to feel the most like the original trilogy. Yeah, I think so. Absolutely. I mean,
Starting point is 01:02:26 even the way he came out to present it with Faloni, there was this kind of like, yeah, man, this is my baby. Like, y'all better get on board. And I kind of like that energy. So, and from what I'm,
Starting point is 01:02:37 I want to get myself in trouble, but from what I'm hearing is that John's really separated himself out from everything and he is absolutely being given carte blanche to do it his way and i think he's earned it you know and so it's good to see that he's going to do it so whatever's going to happen it's on fabro and that i think that's the way he wants it you know i'm excited to see how that pans out uh simon wow thank you so much son what a what a generous generous uh chat that is i really enjoyed you and roxy's interview with uh with nestor carbinell thank you i remember first seeing him at the cosby show spent
Starting point is 01:03:10 off a different world he played the hot latin guy with an accent Why can't life be accommodating as your interviews? We have to go back and enjoy K-Stake. Well, thank you, Sam. First of all, that was a very, very kind and generous. I appreciate it. Nestor was awesome. It's awesome.
Starting point is 01:03:25 I actually, you know, I started the clips channel, and I started putting everything up on the clips channel, and I have all of the Nestor clips ready to go. I got to put thumbnails and everything on them, and it'll probably be up tomorrow. But there's, dude, he talked about the dark night. He talked about Lost. He talked about Shogun.
Starting point is 01:03:38 He talked about everything. Good actor, man. And one of the best around someone I always love seeing. So very, very envious you got the interview. Have you had an opportunity to speak to him yet? No, yeah. No, I would love to. He's such an awesome dude.
Starting point is 01:03:51 He's a really, really good dude. And he, like, he went out of his way to remember, like, my, Roxi's names. He looked this up. He looked at research on us. Yeah, he was, he was a really, really genuine dude. I like talking to him a lot. No, gotcha journalism here. Nope.
Starting point is 01:04:06 And I'll tell you that the other guy that I was, was Diego, who David Custinia from, from umbrella camera. I'm getting lucky with these people. I know I'm destined to have an asshole soon. But I had such, I didn't have great people. He's on Mondays. He's on Mondays. That's true.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Al Wrencia. While D23 was good, I expected more. More. We still need something to set up new Avengers team leading to Avengers. Not yet, Al. Dr. Strange 3, Shunty. Not yet.
Starting point is 01:04:38 Al. Al, come on. This is the reason why they're in trouble because you want them to tell you everything ahead of time. And they did that and fell flat on their faces. They're playing it safe now, man. But D23 was never a place there. If you were going to ever get anything about Dr. Strange through your Shung Chi, it was going to be at Comic-Con.
Starting point is 01:04:57 And that would have been a mistake. That would have been a mistake because it's like there's no, it's not even coming close yet. I mean, you wouldn't see a Shung-chi or Dr. Strange until 2027, 28, if you do it at all at this point. because where does it fit in? So, yeah, it would make no sense for them to do that. And it would be, and you risk the blade scenario of, well, we announced it then, but then we never got it. You go into this film thing.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Of like, oh, we lost the director. We lost this. So I love you, Al. But that one, that one, I'm on the other page for sure. And Al follows it up. Best thumbnail ever broke a foolish, not to believe the one billion. Yeah. But to be fair, to be so smart.
Starting point is 01:05:37 Oh, I know. All of you are so super smart. But be fair to Roka, there were a lot of people who told me I was nuts that I was going to make a billion because there was a rated-d-ar movie. You could never do it. I got a lot of people that said it to me. I'm telling you, man, there's a hunger for this movie. And it paid off. Jamie Rell, Spider-Man 4, before or after Secret Wars in 2027?
Starting point is 01:05:58 That's a great question because Spider-Man's such a big part of Secret Wars. How do you not do Spider-Man before? so you know because it's going to be weird if he's part of the secret wars thing and then you continue the story of him just being the you know the neighborhood spider man after he's just saved the world again whatever too so i i assume you have to do it before 2027 right i i guess but it's 24 we're about to end the year so i don't know how you write it shoot it do post production and where you put it in the schedule right now like honestly this is such a tight schedule with Secret Wars and Doomsday that I don't know where you put it, to be honest with you.
Starting point is 01:06:41 And so I think we are going to get an announcement for Spider-Man 4 soon. But, man, they got to jump right on in on this, you know, and start shooting because it's going to take a while to put this film together. Yeah. They could still, they could still, I mean, look, remember and that some of the Star Wars movies may have been around in like two years. I know. I mean, you can turn it around in two or three years.
Starting point is 01:07:04 And that's also to say that they have been working at it. at all, which I think that they have been. They've been working on it. But yeah, you're right. They'd have to start putting it into play pretty fast. Pretty fast. Yeah, see, I want to address one person. All in the game, you've been going at it already through the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:07:20 Like, what people like you present is a, a, how can I say this? An edited version of reality. You live in an edited version that is not actual reality. What are you talking about now? He's like, Rokossover with box off from predictions, said Flashwood gross $2 billion. He has $2 billion. So everybody goes. No, what I said was it had the potential to growth $2 billion if it was good.
Starting point is 01:07:41 And it clearly wasn't good, which is why it did make $2 billion. Even with Deadpool and Wolverine, I said, I don't think he's going to cross a billion. I mean, if it's good, maybe, but I don't think it's going to do it, right? Maybe. And that's what I said. But I also predicted that Black Panther would blow out the box office and it did. I also predicted that Aquaman make a billion dollars and it did. I got laughed out of Collider.
Starting point is 01:08:02 But I think it would make a billion dollars. But the serious question, it would have to be the, this, though. Are you going to drink red wine with the steak? Bro, we didn't say what kind of steak dinner? So I'm looking at Sizzlers near your house. You're full of it. If you, you want to be a spread all around. Cheap. I'll go to San Diego because they have good steakhouses there. I got two. I can take you to right now. London calling, posting this on my behalf, on my dad, Carlton Rudder. Thank you. And Barcelona. And wanted to send you both love and support from
Starting point is 01:08:34 Sunny Spain. Well, thank you so much, Isabelle. I was very kind. Thank you, Isabel. Thank you to your pops, obviously, who's incredible. Carlton's always, always support. Mirror domains. Favorite side for a snake. I like cream spinach. I do also, but I'm a, in my old age, I like broccoli.
Starting point is 01:08:50 I like potatoes. Yes, a big potato guy. Yes, but I mean, I guess the side I would, I mean, I'm telling you, I'm going to have, I'm going to have, I'm going to have a really nice glass of red wine. And we're going to talk business. Oh, business. Okay. I like it.
Starting point is 01:09:06 this just would be nice nick alexander is right a Deadpool suit to dinner oh my god I wish I would have made that part of the bet I saw a Deadpool buzz light year costume at Comic-Con and I was like that is genius I would wear that in a heartbeat
Starting point is 01:09:21 oh that would be great we should have we should have bet on what we could still make it on the bed of what's what we have to wear so you figure out what the bet is nobody bets me anymore now after they lose the first time because they know they can't iwok are you following the drama with the ends with us yes
Starting point is 01:09:35 the recent deadline honoracle praising Blake lively reads like damage control that she commissioned. So what would it? It was well, yeah, it was all like trying to defend her and it's all of course, oh, misogyny, misogyny, misogyny, which is bullshit.
Starting point is 01:09:50 It's some people are assholes regardless of gender and some people are bullying regardless of gender. And some people are disrespectful to people regardless of gender. And don't get it twisted, a lot of these writers who are making six figures or making a high,
Starting point is 01:10:06 figures get paid to write this stuff because and they don't want to lose access to the right to the actors, directors and producers in the studios. So they're quite happy to write glowing articles about these people and get pumped by their by these publicists, high power publicists, information to put in this art. Yeah. And the writers will probably be, oh my God, Blake lively and Ryan Reynolds are following me on Twitter now. Yeah, exactly. So too much of journalism nowadays and especially in the entertainment world is about status and who's following you and who's talking about you. Yeah. I hate it. I hate it. Ewok. Also, who should play Hal Jordan and John Stewart? Didn't they re-cast? No. They haven't on that. They haven't. Oh, I don't know. I always say, I mean, my hope with this one, I mean, depending
Starting point is 01:10:55 if they're going to do like a Green Lantern, if they're going to do a spinoff movie, then you probably want to get somebody with a little bit of clout now. But I would have, I would have, have told you for Hal Jordan about, I don't know, two years ago, I would have told you Glenn Powell. And now he's everywhere. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Jeff, Jeff thinks Channing Tatum. I like the idea of Josh Hartnett or Alden Aaron Reich. And, um, it depending on how F1 does, Hal Jordan. Yeah, I could see that with Alden Aaron Wright. But depending on how F1 does, I think damson interest could be a really interesting John Stewart if you're going with an older, younger
Starting point is 01:11:37 approach to it. Who's the guy from Top Gun The Schumel. No, no, no, no. For John Stewart, for the Oh, Jay Ellis, is that his name? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah. You'd be interesting.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Okay, that choice. But I don't know. I don't know for, I'm going to push back. I don't think Aiden has the comedian. Hapenheimer, you don't think he's got the strength to play a role? Oh, I think he's a good actor. Okay. You're a very good actor. I just, the, the kind of wittiness and this kind of,
Starting point is 01:12:11 he didn't work for me as solo. And solo needed that same type of thing. Fair point. That he didn't have. Some people disagree. I mean, you know, there's a, there's a whole movement that went nowhere with, with make, uh, make Solo to happen, um, that people wanted that to be a thing because I love them so much, but, um, yeah. Oh, one's your door. Hey, Christian, your thoughts on Star Wars using the music themes got me.
Starting point is 01:12:32 Do you think the new Harry Potter TV show should use the John Williams themes from the films? Thanks. That's a great question. That's a great question because the difference is this, that when you have, Star Wars is just, you know, the way that was built through the films and then everything else too. And then there was, the prequels come out. They still use music. They used the music. That John Williams stuff and it's just synonymous, right?
Starting point is 01:12:59 And James Bond did a TV show. Yes, I would want the James Bond theme to be in. there. If you're establishing a whole new Harry Potter world, or not world, rather, but a new version of the world with extended really, no, you wouldn't have to use it. You wouldn't have to use it this time around because it's, it's different. I wouldn't be opposed, but it's, it's, it's different. Like, Game of Thrones, I hope they use this theme song. Right. Every time they do a series, they should use the theme song. Yeah. But I don't think you'd have, it's a great question, but I don't think you'd have to do the Harry Potter thing,
Starting point is 01:13:37 but I wouldn't care if they did. Yeah, yeah. No, I think you have to bring a new composer. And I think you're right, because the Game of Thrones things, that's all connected. The, it's not a reboot of Game of Thrones, whereas this is a, and Star Wars is connected to, right. That's a good point. And there are other composers.
Starting point is 01:13:54 Like, Hans Dimmer did a wonderful job for Man of Steel. So you've got, okay, who can come in and do, there's plenty of great composers nowadays. Certainly, Gio Kinos. I really love that question. It was a great question. Mike Joyce. John, how does it feel to live rent-free in so many sad sacks heads? I don't know if I do that, but whatever.
Starting point is 01:14:12 I mean, look, people are going to be upset and angry and hate hate, and I'm one of the people they direct their anger towards, but whatever, man, you just keep going. I keep making my money and I keep building. I've never seen a negative comment on you ever. Blake Gilbert. I managed to finish the acolyte. Yeah, I'm done.
Starting point is 01:14:31 When you ruin the Jedi, I'm out. John's going to feel differently and he's going to sigh and I'm going to say I'm with Blake on this one I they made the the Jedi since the such turds like such turds and it's like yeah I get it it's sure that everybody's not perfect it's like it's like come on give us one the Jedi were like cool samurai when we were younger growing up they're flawed they got all this stuff look how ridiculous they are it wasn't actually them that figured out the mid of chlorians it was the witches and it's like, shit.
Starting point is 01:15:02 It's like, come on. What's your argument for? I don't disagree with an element of your argument. That is there should have been a counter. There should have been one good Jedi. And the fact that it didn't have any good Jedi or they're all easily duped, I think, was frustrated. We don't know why that guy offed himself.
Starting point is 01:15:19 No. There's no explanation. No. What a waste of a role. I mean, that guy was in 1917. I guess you're happy to be in a Star Wars. But, like, yeah. He was a game.
Starting point is 01:15:29 Right. Yeah. And so it's like, yeah. And the only, you know who was a good Jedi that they didn't even use was the red-headed, the red-headed, the red-headed, the red-go-tee, the kind of hard ass and who was teaching. It was definitely the best. She should have stood to this. I don't want to get this again, but she should have been the lead of the damn show.
Starting point is 01:15:50 I don't disagree with you. I don't disagree with you. Especially after seeing Deadcomb. She should have been the damn lead. I don't know. Why they went and didn't have her. I don't understand. Matt Sinister McCall, make a bet with Don Cheedle.
Starting point is 01:16:02 If Harold and Purple Grand makes $50 million, I'll cut my foot off on a live stream. It looks like I'm keeping my foot. That movie is not going to do well. Did it come out right? Yeah, it came out. Yeah. I didn't even know. Post on Twitter?
Starting point is 01:16:16 What did he say now? He went after Deadpool and Wolverine. And he said, our film is a family movie. You may think Deadpool and Wolverine is a family movie. Our movie is a family. So, you know, instead of going to see Deadpool and Wolverine is a fourth. time come see our film it was pathetic you know he did that after shazam also he blamed yeah i know my boy's lost my boy is so lost and i feel so bad for him you know because his father
Starting point is 01:16:39 recently died a few months ago as well so you don't know where he's at mentally yeah yeah yeah that's that yeah you don't wish that on anybody but um but that's you you can't blame other movies for your movie nobody want to see the movie plus he's playing kids again it's like he's and he's playing the same role and what are you doing if just didn't do well either so and that's got a way more star. Well, if, if did better than you think, if did better than you think, if didn't cost, it didn't cost that much to make. And you look at the overall, it wasn't like a major hit, but it wasn't a, a bomb.
Starting point is 01:17:10 I didn't even know this movie came out. I know. I know. I made like 10. If that. Umrah. Why no more reviews or watchalongs for COBricai from YouTube? Mistos.
Starting point is 01:17:20 Final thoughts on season six, uh, part one and predictions for part two. Well, the answer to that is because once again, very hard for me. I just, I don't like the, the dump. of everything one time. I know Netflix is doing and Cobra Chi has always done that. It's hard. With so much stuff that's out right now, hard for me to do. I mean, it's the reason why I didn't do the bear because I still
Starting point is 01:17:38 haven't finished the damn bear. I wanted to go week to week to week and instead they dump it all at one shot. All this stuff comes out. The other, my daughter is maybe a bigger Cobra Kai fan than I am now. Vivian started watching it. She binged it in a matter of, I don't know, two weeks. She watched all the entire series. She's on her second watch.
Starting point is 01:17:58 now and she now is on me every day going did you finish six did you fit i'm like two episodes in the six and i just i'm not i'm not as i'm going and i've already talked to john hurwitz and him and the guys are going to come back on the show before it all wraps up i'll be caught up but doing the reactions and watch long as i'm not going to be doing for them for now but um but what i've saw for one i don't have any predictions on it yet because i got to i got to see i literally have just started the show my like episode two we're chosen and johnny you're kind of getting into it and you know so have you finished it no no no i'm behind on it i got to catch up there's so much right list right now it just keeps adding every week so it gets it gets tough yeah yeah yeah finally
Starting point is 01:18:40 finished house of the dragon yeah now the funny thing about that is i wonder had i watched it live with everybody else if i would have been on board but i knew to not set myself up for expecting what i thought was coming because i knew from everybody saying that it wasn't coming yeah that I was like, okay, well, this is, from what everyone's saying, this is a clear setup to season three. And that's exactly what it was. But I knew that going into it. And I thought it was brilliant. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:06 Yeah. I loved it. I loved it. I thought the final episode was so well written. It was so well written. I mean, that's what I'm talking about. This is quality stuff. There's so much I want to talk about.
Starting point is 01:19:17 I don't want to spoil anything. But like, yeah, I actually think, what's her face? Alison, what's her? Oh, Rachel Lee Cook. No, Olivia Cook. Olivia Cook, sorry. Oh, my God. Olivia Cook is, I think the star, well, her and, and, uh, Renara.
Starting point is 01:19:34 Yeah, Emma Darcy is. Yeah. Crushing. Crushing. They're both crushing. Tim, Tim, Sim. I will check the video later as I'm busy. Want to say, press F in chat for Roka having to pay Harlow off his steak dinner.
Starting point is 01:19:50 F does that mean like he didn't want me to win? I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sure with Tim's logic. Blake Gilbert. My thoughts on Star Wars' Celadence crew, Skip. Well, I can't say that yet, Blake. I was on board with you before the other one.
Starting point is 01:20:02 I can't say that yet because I'm always rooting for Star Wars. I'm always rooting for it. I just, you got to be able to, I just can't, I can't be part of the everything is awesome bus. I just can't do it. But I can, but I'm hoping for it. I'm hoping for it. But I'm not going to just skip it. And plus, I pay for Disney Plus.
Starting point is 01:20:19 I might as well use it. Yeah, true. Yeah. My brother, though, has given, has given up. He has, he won't. Oh yeah, he would he didn't he said he his point was he won't watch he didn't want to watch acolyte He said what I don't want to do is I don't want to be the ones people that if I don't like it I'm watching it and yet I'm Adding to the ratings and they keep making stuff like this
Starting point is 01:20:41 Hmm If you stop watching it, they'll stop making stuff like good luck I said good luck um Wicked art put up wicked art the best good day gentlemen I just finished issue six thank you of he uh he's done the entire capes and cows like a comic book. Oh, nice. And it's just like it's he's, I was on with him like last week, which we're going to do a whole, once he's done with all of it, we're going to do like voiceover stuff over it and pull like music behind it and do like a full on like, uh, the story's great. So I just
Starting point is 01:21:12 finished issue six so that you'll get that today with Arcane season two coming out in November. If you guys are rewatching season one, are you excited and we do reactions this go around. I will be doing reactions to Arcane season two, 100%. Ditto. I got. Did you finally watch Arcane? I'm going to be watching first. Yeah, I'm going to watch them first. But I might do reaction videos too, Raking.
Starting point is 01:21:32 And I might edit myself. Like, that's the thing. I want to learn how to edit my own reaction videos. So I may use Arcane as like my testing round to see if I can figure out how to do it and get quicker about it. That's a lot of work. I know, bro. I know. God bless you.
Starting point is 01:21:47 I'm going to start doing shorts, too. That's going to be a lot of work as well. You're going to edit all those too. God, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Question. Okay. Hank Pimp, what's your worst movie?
Starting point is 01:21:55 of the year so far. My top five are Argyle. That's in there for me. Florida lands I didn't see. Tara didn't see. Night Swim is pretty bad. And Madame Webb, I forgot when Madame Webb even came out this year. It was the Valentine's Day. It's so true, but I put, I would put out of the one,
Starting point is 01:22:11 I'm just going to put, I've only seen three of those. Okay. So I would say, at the three of those, what would I mean, wow, those are bad movies. I would have been about Argyll and Madam Webb in the top too, for sure. Really bad. Night Swim was Night's Swam was what it was. I mean, I didn't like it, but it,
Starting point is 01:22:29 it was a haunted pool movie. It was exactly what they said it was going to be. So I would say that I probably put, oh man, Argyle's really bad and I love Matthew Vaughn. I'm going to tie, I'm going to tie Argyle and Madam Webb and put Night's Swem as the better movie. And I hate that that is even a conversation with Matthew Vaugh. It's like,
Starting point is 01:22:54 there's other, I'm sure there's something else terrible that I saw I can't remember what it was yeah um anyway all right so Hank Pimp either you check out cuckoo uh what a fantastic little horror thriller i didn't hunter schaefer was amazing dan stevens is having a strong year i didn't did you no i've not seen it yet i definitely have it on the list though so yeah okay um and then haskell four 20 crossing the streams this is like a fourth break inside a fourth break that's like 16 the old man two trailer which i retweeted live reaction. No, not doing a live reaction to it,
Starting point is 01:23:27 but I'll definitely check it out and talk about it on the show, potentially tomorrow. I got Matt Serra coming in the studio this week, so we'll probably do something together. Aisha Kenya. Howdy, Christian, and Roak? Hello, Aisha.
Starting point is 01:23:41 I recently read out of the 54 films of gross for a billion. Disney's Library has 31 of them. Whoa. Whoa. Out of the D23 announces, which films are guaranteed. To hit one billion. Wush.
Starting point is 01:23:55 The ones announced, I mean, you always got a shot with Toy Story, depending on how good it is. That would be my choice. If it's good, again, listen to me all in the game. If it's good, it'll make it more. You got a shot. Incredibles did really, really well. The last one, I don't think, I don't think so. Fantastic four, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:24:18 I don't know. Out of those, yeah, I would say you probably have to put your bet on. on Toy Story 4. That's the one. Five. Five. Yeah, yeah. So, and, and I don't even know if Toy Story four cracked a billion. Yeah, I would agree. Yeah, that's, that's the one, but that's, that's, that's crazy that they make up that many. I mean, they own everything, so it makes sense, but yeah, but wow, that's crazy. Darth Archie coming in, hot, moving forward, any Marvel movie that doesn't have dog pool and it is a wet fart. Fair enough, Darth Archie. I like that. I like that. Rick Roberts, do you think Disney can mend its relationship with Johnny Depp? We'd love to see more
Starting point is 01:24:53 Jack Sparrow content. I think that they will. There's nothing to mend. Like, they don't hate Johnny and Johnny doesn't hate them. Well, they, they, well, they kicked him off that movie. Well, they removed him from the, but they still having a shot of New Pirates of Caribbean, and that's because I think they want this whole thing to die down.
Starting point is 01:25:08 And they want to bring him back. I agree with that. I agree with that. And it's whether or not he says, F that, but he's probably going to want to get a couple of paychecks in the bank account. So I, I think, I don't think we're too far away from hearing a Johnny Depp announcement as Jack Sparrow back within the next, at least next two, two to three years.
Starting point is 01:25:28 Yeah. Goose loose. Great. Kathleen Kennedy was a no show at D23 thoughts. No. I think there was a whole reason why they announced Dave Filoni as the person in general a couple. I mean, he had that job already for eight months before they brought him in. He's better on stage.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Yeah. then she is she's not she's she plays like a like a corporate an executive when she's she's reading the the teleprime i've seen her do this at whether it's comic on not comic on but d23 the celebration she's reading the teleprompter it never comes off as authentic she's not good on stage and they probably said we got to have dave and john do this from now on so she was probably there she probably just wasn't on stage and it was a smart move yeah i think we're going to see her less and less i really do i just think we'll see her lesson i think that's iger going you need to stay out of the spotlight for a little while.
Starting point is 01:26:19 I just, it doesn't, she doesn't play as authentic. She plays, it plays like a politician. Shea Markell, you want to say you and Rox did a great interview Friday. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thursday, I mean, I think the Thursday show, right? Friday was the, was a David one. Roxy and I did the, did the Nestor one, but we had, uh, she was great to
Starting point is 01:26:38 re-team with Roxy on that one. Mad Senator McAll, movie death that grosses you out. Terrify or two for me. I'll tell you, there's a movie called Irreversible. Oh, yeah. You remember that movie with, uh, what's like a belucci? Yes. And she, um, she, it's either her or somebody who smashes a guy's head in with like a fire extinguisher.
Starting point is 01:26:56 Yeah. Oh, it just stuck with me. That, that movie was brutal. Bro, that rape scene. Oh. Oh. I was walked out of the theater. It couldn't handle it.
Starting point is 01:27:03 It's, it's bad. It's, I mean, well, not not. I mean, it's, it's so real. It's bad. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I would say the bone tomahawk death will stay with me forever when he split that dude and don't tell me. Sarah has been on me.
Starting point is 01:27:16 Dude. Every time I talk to him, every time I talk to him, he tells me, you watch bones, you won't talk about it. Every time. Every time he's good. I got to see it. I got to watch it. I'm telling you, dude, I have not gone a conversation with Matt Serra without him
Starting point is 01:27:29 to watch that movie. But yeah, so I know that I will look to that death. Xavier Johnson. Question, I love the rock, but has he lost the luster outside of the WWE? He's still a great guy, but it feels like him and Kevin Harder in the same boat, way too much quantity, not enough quality, work, being. put out. Now, John, you've completely turned on the rock. What do you feel? I still love the rock. But I'm not going to lie to you. I've thought about changing my handle recently. And I've never
Starting point is 01:27:55 thought about doing that. Wow. But yeah, I mean, it's, it's not because I don't respect him. It's just that he is, he's going into places that I just, I don't understand. And the stuff he's putting out, like that Christmas movie looks terrible. And then the monster jam, you know, it's interesting. He's got a first look deal at Disney. So what is he going to make? The Moana thing looked okay. So I don't know, we've got to see more from him to see what he's going to create. Smashing machine could change it all, though. Yeah, maybe.
Starting point is 01:28:24 If he's good and if the film is good, sure, for sure. He's got the potential. That's the one that I think that where I agree that, you know, he's got to step it up a little bit more. And he can't just look like he's in he's got, he's in the way that
Starting point is 01:28:40 Kathleen Kennedy has really no personality as a presenter and is coming off like a politics. the rock's coming off as a politician with a big personality yeah yeah yeah oh i'm just here to sell some stuff it's like sell me some sell me some good stuff sell me some good stuff um bill gaffney it's all i can do paid tuition for the kid hey that was bill that's all that's all that we need you thank you so much darth rj i love the nester carbonyl interview thank you what a classy dude always thought he would have killed his con and start trek into darkness i get an opportunity i got
Starting point is 01:29:14 opportunity to talk to certain people. Then, you know, when you're done with having the conversation, you were like a fan of them before, but now I root for him forever. I want to see him in everything, because he's just, he just is a quality human being. Chris, Kossom. Thanks, Chris. Very nice. Hey, guys, long time fan. Thank you. I'm considering moving to California sometime next year to increase my chances in the film industry, but I've never lived in another state, but I, but before and I wanted to ask, sorry, I've never lived in another state before and I wanted to ask for some advice. Thanks. Well, what a, what a wonderful thing. First of all, I don't know how old you are, Chris.
Starting point is 01:29:48 I did it when I was like 22, when I drove a cry. I lived in New York and Florida, and I drove with my dad across the country to get to L.A. And just you did it. You just got to, it's cliche, right? But believe in yourself, believe in what you want to do. Find me sure you have a place that you want to stay. You know, don't be proud. Take the jobs that you need to take in order to get yourself just stable.
Starting point is 01:30:13 and then find the stuff that you want to do and just really work on what it is and those goals. You have goals and just keep the path towards them and believing yourself. It's cliche, but it really is the best advice I can give you. Yeah, be very clear about what you want when you come out here. Be very clear, because there's going to be a lot of paths that can distract you from the main path. You've got to be very clear about what you want to do. Doesn't mean you can't be flexible. Doesn't mean it can't be malleable in certain situations,
Starting point is 01:30:42 as Christian said, if a job pops up, and you need it to pay your bills and whatever, you do it, but you've got to keep your eye on the prize. And it's really tough and you've got to be willing to sacrifice. If you're not coming out here with a lot of money, you're going to have to sacrifice time, effort. You're going to have to work a lot of time on your craft. And so you've got to be really clear about what you want to do and how hard you want to work at it, because L.A. will teach you, we'll show you if you really want it or not.
Starting point is 01:31:07 And you got to stick it. I mean, you got to stick it out. Look, I was 24 years where it was. And it was, and as John says, you can have, and make sure, like, and sometimes don't be afraid that if you're on one path. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then something says, well, try that one. Yeah, exactly. Don't be afraid to pivot.
Starting point is 01:31:24 I mean, that's one thing. People forget afraid to pivot all the time. I've never been happier doing this. I've never been happier doing this, you know, because acting was rough, tough. It wasn't always easy. I booked stuff, but made money, but it was a rough gig. Matt Sinner-S and McCall, some of your favorite rappers, who is a rap go? I always go with Tribe called Quest.
Starting point is 01:31:40 I mean, it's always the ones that I was. Big Daddy Kane is and I always bring in, if you remember Fushnikins back in the day, but that's not, I mean, I wouldn't put them up as the best, but I'd put them up there. But the tribe is always, is always for me. Tribe is classic. Shout out the RIP Fife. Yeah, I mean, there's so many. What are you going to say, Tupac, you can say, you can say, Kendrick Lamar, a lot of people like him now currently.
Starting point is 01:32:06 You could go and do Jay-Z, of course, Jay-Z was the king for a while, Naz has been a king for a while. So there's a lot of great rappers. And even nowadays, you find new ones popping up that have some interesting new takes on that, that type of music. So, yeah, I mean, there's so many, dude. There's so many. Yeah. It looks fun. You know, when I say that about the fact that it doesn't look like a Star Wars thing, that's not a negative of it.
Starting point is 01:32:32 I mean, I'm sure at Lucasfilm it will be, but it's not. It's a, it's, as John said, is it good? Let's just see if it's good. Chris, again, thanks. Chris, what do you think of James Gunn's DCU? What do you think James Gunn's DC would building up to at the end of their slate that hasn't been announced, the Justice League film or something else? Well, first of all, I'll tell you a story that we're going to cover that I didn't get to today.
Starting point is 01:32:52 That I think was telling. James Gunn tweeted out that he's not doing reshoots. He probably won't have any reshoots on Superman. Came out today. What? So no reshoots on Superman. That's a, that is confidence. That is bold.
Starting point is 01:33:06 Confidence. That's him saying, because look, if you're the guy, Because this is the difference. It's not as old as you think it is. Okay. Because he's the guy, right? Yeah. Normally, you're a director who says, okay, I have all this stuff.
Starting point is 01:33:21 I have this. I have a few things. We've got to schedule some reshoots later on. Iger's going to want me to do this and so-and-so's going to want me to do this. And I got to do this, but we'll record everything. Okay, now we got to get, okay, you guys saw all the footage. You like that footage. We're good here.
Starting point is 01:33:33 We're good. Oh, no, you want us to go back. We have to do the reshoots now. Okay. He's the guy. Yeah. He goes, we're not doing reshoots. So I got everything that I needed.
Starting point is 01:33:41 And like, you're on the last day. Like, oh, you know what I need to get? I need to get this. I need to shoot this. And then he shoots this. And he can get it all. He doesn't have to do reshoots. He's a guy.
Starting point is 01:33:50 So it's a benefit that he has that most people don't have. So it's not as it. It's a bold move in political form because it's a smart political form to say, we don't need reshoots. Yeah. We don't need them. Look what we did. And it's like, yeah, he did all your reshoots already.
Starting point is 01:34:06 Yeah. Because you knew what you had to do. Yeah, exactly. You're the guy. You have the schedule. It's brilliant. It's really smart. And the answer to the question,
Starting point is 01:34:14 I don't know where he's going to go with you yet because we don't know where Batman is. We don't know any of these other things. But John, any of that stuff to where you think it's going to go? Yeah, no, I don't think Justice League is in the mix right now, maybe down the road. I think maybe the 10-year mark because they don't want to repeat the same mistakes
Starting point is 01:34:27 that they did the first time, which is rushing to get to the Justice League. It's going to be a much more slow rollout. They might be rolling towards a multiple participant film, but that may not be Justice League. just them all working together and then maybe from there there's a conversation down the road about a justice league but i think that's what they're heading towards yeah makes sense simon blakemore one or two hey john just wondering when you and steve are going to do an episode of the cinnophiles on ghost in the shell the anime good question i would love to do it well i think we we did akira with uh emma fife which was
Starting point is 01:35:00 awesome but yeah it's time we jump into ghost and show because i love that film and the sequel which is great so yeah uh he follows this up with i always thought it was a film before it's time especially with the rise of AI and technology. 100%. The 4K version is gorgeous to look at. So yeah, that's a great one. Thanks for the tip. Absolutely. Juan Visual. If Romulus is a critical in box office success, will it help to get a Prey Predator sequel? I think Prey is already going to happen. I think it was a massive hit for Hulu. I think it was a massive hit. So I think it'll be, that's going to happen regardless. Yep. Now, whether or not they do an alien and Predator movie again, because of it, I don't know, but apparently this movie is really good, though, this Romulus.
Starting point is 01:35:42 Yeah, a lot of positive reactions for people, including guest today earlier, Greg, who posted his reaction. Isn't it Fettie Alvers? Hmm? Is Fettie Albrez director? I love, I love his, I love his style. So I'm getting more and more excited for this one. I mean, we'll see it.
Starting point is 01:35:59 You and I will be seeing this in less, pretty soon here. Yeah, yeah, a few hours. Yeah. Derek Johnson, it's widely known that a bet involving stake is always at Ruth Chris are the next best steakhouse. I don't make the rules. Just what's in the brocode, John. I think he's right. I'll tell you, the best place I ever had.
Starting point is 01:36:15 I'll tell you my favorite steak. I've been in a lot of great steakhouses. I'm going to give a good plug here. It's a place called Bones in Atlanta. I've been twice. My buddy, John, who's a dentist, I went to the Ant Man set visit back in 2014 or whatever it was. And I was, hey, you want to have something here? He's like, nah, I'm going to take you to the
Starting point is 01:36:37 steakhouse and he did and he took me and then when we went to Atlanta I don't know where you were I don't think you were I don't know where you were but you were out that night but we went oh yeah probably was doing something else that we yeah we went to that we went again to the steakhouse and and Chris Bosch was there of all oh nice right dude bones in Atlanta if you guys have never gone go to bones it's fantastic nice um Chris constantly again thank you Chris Chris you're crushing here but I honestly think save your money to go to L.A I honestly think John Krasinski would make a great Hal Jordan. I doubt they'd consider him, but I could see it since he's witty and the right age
Starting point is 01:37:13 of looking for, also he can bulk up for it too. He has the personality, but in my, I think he's too well known, in my opinion, if I'm doing the casting, but he fits everything that you're looking for there, but do you agree with that, John? Yeah, I think it's too well known. It doesn't quite work, but maybe a few years ago, but not now. Yeah, yeah. uh,
Starting point is 01:37:37 Derek Johnson says that Zach has been eating those purple crayons on that RFK boat he promoted a while back. Enjoy the show as always gentlemen. I have a good day. Yeah, I mean, again,
Starting point is 01:37:47 he's, he's been, he's, he's all over the place. Yeah. Zach, he's, he's all over the place with everything that he's
Starting point is 01:37:53 talking about. And I think that sometimes, you know, he gets to a place where it's like, if things aren't going his way, he tries to blame other people or do other things. Yeah. That doesn't,
Starting point is 01:38:01 it never works. That never works. I never wanted. I talked about it. Oh, He was on, I think they were on some con recently within the last year. And, you know, it was Zach Levi has famously and very well run his own con. The nerd HQ.
Starting point is 01:38:19 Yeah. He was wonderful at it. He did it so good. And he hosted things all the time. And Koi was, uh, was scheduled to host a bunch of stuff. And one of the things I think was Shazam, I'm not sure. But he was just like, don't worry about this. Coy.
Starting point is 01:38:32 I got it. And he just kind of basically shun them besides it. But that's not your job. actor. You're the actor now. You're not hosting today. This is what the guy got paid for. Let him do it. And I didn't, I didn't, it rubbed me the wrong way. I guess if the check clears, I don't care.
Starting point is 01:38:46 I know. But I hear you. But I'm going building and he wants to get to someplace. But if it was you, if it was anybody, I would feel that way. No, no, I know that. I know you're right. Because I had, when we hosted, you and Ellis got us, Matt Nost and I to host at ComicCon years ago for NerdHQ and he was so
Starting point is 01:39:02 cool. He was so cool. He was so cool. He was so cool. Yeah, no, he was. So it's sad to see that he and and i will tell you that i think that it it when maybe when the success started come with shazam things changed i don't know but he was always very kind to me when we were doing he would any let us go to those went to those parties all the time and they used to come on the schmo's show so i don't know i tell you hope people change uh mike joyce watching some early saturday night live any recommendations for early season episodes to watch love the one where paul simon hosted i would watch the george carlo won the first one now that the moment now what you think of that
Starting point is 01:39:35 because we talked about the pictures. I loved it. Right? I couldn't believe it. See? The trailer was, now you know what they're doing. Yeah. I thought it was going to be a kind of a,
Starting point is 01:39:44 you know, like a nostalgic. Everyone was cool. Nah, it's fucking getting into it. Yeah. The guy playing Chevy Chase looks fantastic. That's the guy who played the Riddler in Gotham.
Starting point is 01:39:54 Oh, he was in the series Gotham. What I triv over was my penis. Yeah. Such a great Chevy Chase line. Immediately. It was so good. That trailer looks fantastic.
Starting point is 01:40:04 And the guy playing Lauren Michaels, Look, here's the thing. Yeah. That when you get into a place where you can run into, that looks like an impression, right? There's some stuff that happened in many saints in Newark that look like impressions. Mm-hmm. Like they were the characters at all.
Starting point is 01:40:18 I agree. This doesn't look like impressions. I mean, like Lauren Michaels looks like young Lauren Michaels. Really? Yeah, the kid from Fableman's. Yeah. And then the other kid, the guy who's fighting with him on the staircase, is the kid from licorice pizza.
Starting point is 01:40:32 I couldn't believe it. It looks. great. It looks great. It's one of my most anticipated movies now. Matt Sinister McCall, I don't understand these bums who date Roxy. She's perfect. She tells movies. She's smart. She's beautiful and a Pats fan. You men need to get a grip. Roxy told an absolutely horrific story. No. Oh, she tells dating stories on every Thursday and they're just, they're like something out of Blumhouse. It's like, it's so, I mean, the one she told, she was so excited to go out with this guy and it was like something out of like, uh, like, who's the, who's the guy that used to host, uh, talk soup? Joel, Joel, uh,
Starting point is 01:41:05 Michael Michael. Yeah. You know when Joel McHale plays a really dushy guy in some movies? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anytime he's played a really, and he was in the, he's in the bear, but anytime he plays a really dushy character, that's who she went out with recently, with that kind of character.
Starting point is 01:41:20 Roxy, you got high tastes. You know, good-looking dudes want to date you. Not a lot of well-adjusted good-looking dudes. So, unfortunately, that's the sad truth of the situation. Oh, man. I got stories that have turned your head from a male's point of view, for sure. Chris Coss. Have you guys ever seen young,
Starting point is 01:41:35 women in this have you seen young women in the sea i tried to get my kids to watch it didn't watch it i wanted to see it's a great film about the first woman who swam the english channel yeah no i know it stars daisy ridley and it's on disney plus inspiring and a great film for the family i was trying to get my kids to watch it yeah like they wouldn't watch it with me did you watch it i did i watched it the day it dropped i like a massive daisy ridley fan i thought it was a good sports movie not a great one but she does a wonderful she good always good she's always good and that new women's health profile nice little shot there i'm just going to say that's what i was behind hello good lord good give me that ray movie now let's go all right let's say well we got a few more here and another one
Starting point is 01:42:16 derrick johnson thank this is a haughty i have no faith in the dc u i wish them well but i'm 41 i'll be my 50s by the time they get running on all cylinders they still have to compete with x-men fantastic four spider man on the other side it's a large hill to climb well derrick i don't necessarily know if they have to because i think that as long as and it's kind of an overall theme of this stream. If it's good, it's good. As long as you're making money, and you're not going head to head against something, right?
Starting point is 01:42:44 Then, I mean, I know that they are kind of going against Fantastic Four with Superman. So they are going to be competing there. But they just need to establish themselves overall before they start. That's where they got themselves into trouble last time was when they started trying to compete with Marble. Don't compete. Just make your own stuff.
Starting point is 01:43:01 Walk your own path. It's it. Yeah. And thank you for that, Derek. It's very kind. 8011 been a fan for a long time wanted to show my support thank you schmo's created my love for movies wow that's very kind thank you for all your hard work over the years that's very nice of you thank you very much i really appreciate that that was that was very kind p parker 2288 i really liked tron legacy and excited for the new one
Starting point is 01:43:21 too bad they couldn't get kaczynski back to direct he's busy with the 300 million f1 movie is it 300 million is that how much that way yeah yeah it's going to be expensive why f1 is funding some of that too because their stuff is being highlighted so i think it's going to be shared between them and Apple. How are you going to make the money back? I don't know, especially with an Apple movie. Apple puts this money. I don't think they expect to make money anymore.
Starting point is 01:43:45 No. I really don't think they do. Anyway, that's it's it. John, we did it. No, we got one more. We got one more. Just popped in at the end. That Tron Legacy looks epic and dark and cannot wait.
Starting point is 01:43:56 I haven't seen anything from it yet. Charles Ares is what he's trying to say. So, yeah. Oh, okay. Legacy was the second one. Got it got it. Zach Ephron, not getting a nod for any words. for the argument. I should be investigated. I agree.
