Deadpool and wolverine is one of the most anticipated movies of the year and one of the most anticipated MCU movies maybe of all time. The ticket sales have been incredible and have broken many records. What does this mean for the film and for the MCU? The movie season has been a little soft in the summer thus far. Will Furiosa change that? How excited is Matt Serra for Furiosa? I don't know. I really don't know. No idea. I'm excited to be in New York and I was excited and what I wanted to say and I told you this via text and everything too, but I want to do it again on air.

First of all, thank you so much for inviting me to your school. School's a good time, man. Ain't my academy a fun time? Awesome. The people there. That's what I wanted to give you props for because this is the thing. You got to remember, I'm living in L.A. now for like 25 years. So I came and I met you.

We were talking to the shop and you know, you're showing me the school, we're showing me everything to. Every single person that walked by, you went out of your way and you stopped and you said, hey, this is my friend Christian. He does the geek show. But you introduced me to every single person.

They were super, they were just great. It was a night. You felt the vibe in it. And you also felt that you were kind of, you were like the Yoda there walking around me. Yeah, yeah, Yoda is a good one. I used to like OB-1. Then the series came out.

I'll take Yoda. Thank you, Brett. I think I heard Brett giggling at that. I like that. I like that a lot. My academy, know what's nice about that? Like people,

they try to generalize New Yorkers as rude and obnoxious or not caring or whatever it is. So just about all about themselves. My school, this is my retirement. This is what I do. I'm there with my three daughters,

my wife, they teach there um it's gonna be my crowd it's gonna be a good crowd yeah i have a saying where i like to make good people dangerous that's what i love that so everybody you meet i brought dance dads from my kids school over there now i mean you wouldn't believe it they i mean i do the before and afters with just the way their physiques change and then it become dangerous in the process so well i need it i'm built like a tomato right now it's but no no you're gonna listen you're gonna you're you're gonna you're gonna you're gonna you're gonna get on the mat yeah you know i got you there and you were very hesitant to you. I'm in a rush.

And prets at the studio. All right. I gave you a free pass the first day. The next day you're getting on the mat. That's fair. Totally fair. So anyway, so Matt and I were, obviously, it is one of those things that I'm 100% going to be training at the school. I'm very excited about it. But the other thing that we were talking about, as I mentioned briefly on the other day, is that I had mentioned to Matt, I was walking the dog back in, I don't know, it was probably a year ago. And I'm like, dude, we got to do something together. Because Matt's been doing the show with me for a bit, whether it was on Claire Live,

calling in and doing that stuff. I was like, this guy is just really good on camera. He loves, he loves doing the geeky stuff and just in general, so much stuff he's passionate about. So we started talking about him doing his own thing. And then went on Rogan's show, too. Rogan's saying the same thing. He's like, you've got to do your own thing.

So we talked about it, and we already launched it. You got your own YouTube channel. It's exciting. I want to make sure, because I've been getting approached, I got approached a bunch of times to do something. But, you know, I think it's, It's weird the way that I even got to know you.

You know, I was watching your show when you were back on Collider. And I enjoyed it. And then one day I saw you mentioned me about something or. Yeah, I know. Yeah, that I won money. What I do? I messaged you. I messaged.

You mentioned me on UFC unfiltered. There you go. And then the audience started tagging me and telling me that I was on. I can tell you're a good guy. Thank you. I go by instincts, you know, even though I've been hanging out with Ray Longo for like 30 years. Not really fucking around. Happy birthday.

my trainer and best buddy Ray Longo, who just turned 66. Wow. The guy still has the same as he was, how many years ago? Funny story before we get into it. I actually met Ray before I met you, but that's another story. Oh, I got to hear that. That's another story. But, you know, so I don't know, man.

I got good instincts. I don't want to get into business with somebody. Like, if I want to get into something, I want to make sure I'm in it with the right people. Yeah. So I like you. We get along. We're into the same stuff. and, you know, business-wise, you know, I trust you.

I like you. I think it's going to be a nice relationship. It's good. Yeah, look, same thing is that. And that when I was coming back here, and we're not very far from each other, I think it's 20, 30 minutes away or whatever it is, very easy for us, both, me to get to the school, you to get here. And I want to do a lot of different things with me.

And I want to make sure that we absolutely can go into anything that you want to talk about things that you're watching because Matt will call me up and he'll tell me, did you watch this? And he'll do like this 20 minutes. like passionate speech about the thing you just watching like that should be on camera yeah yeah listen I'm not for everybody I got I like what I like you know I talk a lot of MMA and mixed martial arts on my podcast for the UFC UFC unfiltered with the great Jimmy Norton and uh you know so I'm going to save a lot of the fight talk for that all you know that's

going to be about that people want to hear that the fight stuff that's what you listen to and you'll have some, you know, pop culture and whatnot. But I want, like if it's 80, 20 in that direction, you said the shit the other day. Yeah, I like that. Every 80, 20 in that direction, it's going to be the opposite, all right? It'll be more 80% of the shit I'm into from VR. Oh, I got to talk to you about my latest VR game.

And, you know, besides that, I'm into, I, I love, like, I grew up on comic books in the, you know, from the 80s, you know, into the 90s, especially the 80s. Comic book lines.

X-Men? X-Men is my favorite. Avengers was like the opposite team, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. So X-Men, the comic book, the writing of, from, from storylines of like the mutant massacre. Yeah. It's just so well done. So you must have been losing your mind during X-Men.

97. that matter. Oh, I'm loving X-Men 97. I'm not up to date with it. You know, I'm watching Shogun. I'm watching, I mean, I'm at the school all day, but, you know, I, I'm enjoying it. I am enjoying it. You know why? Because I feel like they're taking the source material directly from the comics. You know? Yep. I mean, they might throw into like a new character or something, but mostly it's the same story. Yeah, you can, you can adapt. When things are adapted,

that's great. As long as you stay to the essence of it and you add some new stuff, people want to see new flavor. But as long as it keeps the, the core, or in sync? A hundred percent. And the character is the character. People, they get upset when like, oh, well, why would you be upset if they change this character to a, whether it's a female or, how about this?

I get upset that Hugh Jackman's six-something, foot to tell something. Wolverine in the, see, this is the stuff you're going to be talking about on my channel. Wolverine was 5'3 in the comic. He was a runt. He's almost like the anti-hero, the guy who could just go too far, loose cannon a little bit, you know, especially in the beginning. And he's not walking around like the leading man, even though the girls were attracted to him because, yo, he's that, you know, he's like almost the untainable bad boy. You know what I mean?

Yeah, yeah. That's what he was where. And he gives no shits. He gives zero fucks. I'm sorry. This is on my show. I can do that. I don't want to clean it up for your show.

That's fair enough. Okay. I'll say F's. No, but, but no, Wolverine. So when I see Hugh Jackman, and I do, I can enjoy Hugh Jack. Hugh Jackman's great. He really is. How about this?

It's not his fault. He's so tall and good-looking. No, he was, he was perfect for the role. A lot of people, a lot of people had that comment me in because he was, because Wolverine, I used to, do you remember, I don't know if you remember back in the day, there was a comic from the X-Men. It was called Meltdown. It was him in Havoc.

It was like really great. I remember the, I think I remember the cover of it. Yes, but I was X-Men and the G. I was a great series for the two things. Oh, that was a great series. It was a great series. That was with the pit and everything. Oh, no, that was great.

Yeah, yeah. I grew up on the, on the cartoon in the 80s. Yeah, yeah. I was like, you know. We're same generation, yeah. Oh, 100. Where's the cough button in this thing? The cough button?

I mean, because I got to come off. Do you control that? Do you know. Go ahead. Have a blast. I'm pretty sure we still heard it, but that's all right. All right. We're back.

I just wanted to know. Usually I got something right here. I go, ah. Yeah. But, no, I grew up on all that stuff. That's the stuff I loved. Like so when they, when they traced, uh, stayed true to that, like in X-Men 97, it's easier when you could draw on a guy.

Yeah. But, uh, it's cool, man. But I think they want to go with that leading man type of thing. You know what's funny? They, I think I mentioned this before in the first with, um, the Brian Singh's X-Men. Yes. Which was great at the time. You know, it's still, it was fun.

I just watched that the other night. I thought he was, I thought, I thought Hugh Jacken was like that was, he had a great, I loved him in Wolverine like that, in that one. And part of it, not. not all of it, but he even said that they did certain shots to make him even look shorter. Like they really did. And then he said eventually they just said, I have, you know, you know, because he owned it. Yeah, exactly.

But I think that's an important part of the character. And that's not just because I'm a short guy. Maybe it's a little. But who does that look up to? 100% of it's if when you're growing up and you're like, okay, they took, that was the thing because you felt it as if some, you know, you're looking at you're going, look, I relate to this guy. And when they take that from me, you're like,

It sucks a little bit. Exactly. Yeah, it's weird. But Jackman had, and still does, had that essence. You love Logan, right? Oh, yeah, I enjoyed Logan a lot. Yeah, yeah. I mean, the pressing is as hell, but it was a very well-done movie. Well, let's do that.

Let's jump. Let's talk about, we're in Deadpool and Wolverine. Let's talk about the ticket sales. Because it's crushing. Here's, here's this story. Let me bring the show. So, Deadpool and Wolverine breaks ticket records as anticipation for the MCU film builds. And this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's lone film of 20,

for Deadpool and Wolverine movie tickets quickly ahead of its widely anticipated debut. This is from CBR.com. Deadpool and Wolverine continues to ramp up anticipation ahead of its summer release. The Phase 5 Marvel MCU Blockbuster sets the pace for pre-release ticket sales as moviegoers prepare to see what shenanigans the duel will be up to in the multiverse. This is coming from Fandango. Deadpool and Wolverine established a new ticketing record in 2024, garnering the best first-day sales of any movie release this year after tickets went on sale

May 20th. Furthermore, the lone MCU film released in 2024 Outpaced Deadpool and Deadpool 2 in first-day sales, suggesting a strong opening weekend for the Sean Levy Helm film. Deadpool earned over $7.82 million at the global while the sequel did $785. Upon the beginning of ticket sales, Deadpool and Wolverine released a trailer with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman going at it. Deadpool and Wolverines preview helped boost the movie's expectations as the trailer set a new MCU record. Okay, so this is great news.

How many cameos you think is going to be in this thing? An insane amount because I think that's, but the question is, is it going to overpower the movie, right? And I don't think it will. I think, you know what it is? Because they're so good in their roles, you know, as, you know, Jackman and Reynolds, they're going to have a lot of screen time, obviously. So, I mean, how many cameos?

I would love, I'll tell you what they did right in the Deadpool movies. They did a lot right, but as far as character was, man, they got Colossus right. I thought Colossus was phenomenal. In Deadpool, yeah. I never liked them in the Brian Singer movies. I thought it looked, he was just like an in-shaped college kid. This looked, I mean, that was cool. It was the more mature Colossus.

He was decent in Days of Future Past. Yeah. But better in Deadpool, I agree. I was just watching someone at the other day. Did you like that one? Yeah, I liked it. I learned when he had to go back in time. Yeah, that was one of the best ones.

What's your favorite X-Men movie out of all of them? You know what? I'd probably say X-Men 2. Okay. You know, I liked that one. Man, that was his fight with the Japanese girl, the assassin. I mean, that was badass. It was well-done.

It was well, that was a well, that was fun movie. It ended cool with the, you know, is that the phoenix in the water? I thought that was very fun. But besides that, the other ones, the newer ones, I would say days of future past. Yeah. I'm first class. First class is my favorite. Yeah.

Oh, really? Interesting. Because you know why? Because the Star Wars, that's how I wanted the Anakin, Obi-Wan relationship to go between the two of them. Yeah. Like that friendship bond that they had that I felt was missing in the prequels. You know what? I may have to see that.

I haven't seen that in ages. I love. I love. No character be really stuck out. I never really like, like, I thought they'd done Wolverine excellent in X-Men 2. I thought it was done cool. I like the stuff with Nightcrawler.

I love X-Men 2, Logan. I could easily go with X-2, and I could go with Days of Future Pass, which I just watched recently. It's awesome. But as far as Deadpool goes, man, Deadpool and Wolverine, this movie, I have a bet

a steak dinner bet going with one of my guys, and it just has to make $750 million in order for me to win. And I think it's, this person's going to win them. I think this is the first movie, or one of the movies, this and despicable movie, will be the only two movies that hit a billion dollars this year yeah you know I'm not as far as

what it grosses I'm not the best with all that I want to say is it a hit or not or if it's not gonna be a hit obviously it's gonna be a hit like I think that uh an am she needs you can't miss with it I think the trail is great uh they got good chemistry it seems you know what I mean uh I think it's gonna be I'm looking forward to it yeah I'm looking forward to it and I think the MCU needs it right now so many comments lately about everybody that's buying the tushies and I see why you're buying them I love them you love them Chris Carr loves them. Yeah, I mean, maybe, be, I mean, there'll be some references, but I'm sure you don't need to watch it, but I'll probably mess with it. Yeah. Dude, I'm watching Shogun. What else did I say as well? We're watching. Shogun, it has to be right up your house. Shogun's great. Yeah. Shogun is great, man. We're going right through that.

Oh, I like the characters. That's what it's about, man. More than writing. It's about the writing, the characters. I don't want a damn message. I don't want a message, man. You know, I got that when I was little, and that's one to grow on. And that's great. But like, the only guy's like 50 are going to get that. You watch a Saturday morning cartoons and they'd have those message. I don't know. Like, I'm a grown-ass man. Like, just don't make it about, it'll take me right out of the movie.

But I'm going to push back on that a little bit. Go ahead. I'm going to say that I think that you can do a message as long as it doesn't beat you over the head. Doon has messages. Well, listen. Star Wars has messages. No, no, no.

It's obviously these messages. It's about what's the message? 100%. Is it enough about, all right. Right. look oh wow hey this is this is uh this is uh the rock guy and uh hey thor is my boyfriend nothing to do with the story it's just saying hey it's right that he has a boyfriend it's like it's my husband bill it's just that'd be like i'd say the same shit of it'd be like hey it's my

my wife margaret out of nowhere and then she just says nothing to do it anything it's like what do you do you're just trying to show me that that's okay i know that's okay right i mean stop trying to beat us over the head with it right and what about the political shit i was watching the Holly Quinn movie. I'm like, all right, the same bad. She's kind of violent. And then all of a sudden she's doing the old Deadpool thing, talking to the screen. And she's like, I did this, I did that.

I voted for Bernie. I don't give a F who you voted for. No, you didn't. I guarantee you didn't. You know, the director, she did. And now she wants to let you know she did, and at the other guy's bed, you took me out of the movie. I want to know about Holly Quinn. Is there a joke or reference? I don't want to know

about the political shit. Don't get nervous. I'm not nervous. Okay, good. I'm just saying. I like to have a good time I want to go to the movie to have a good time I want to you're funny I like to uh that's it I don't you go to you see

you've been to my academy is it one type there? No it's far from that it's I love everybody I understand listen you don't have to explain yourself because I understand what you're saying because like I've talked about this myself too I think that there's a lot of times

that when it's when there's relevant messaging and when there's when it fits character. It makes sense. It's when exactly what you're saying, when it's jarring and you're doing it to fit, you know, you don't want to get, because you don't want people to get mad at you on Twitter. That's, that is a reason why you get yourself, people going, what are you doing? Let me tell you. My, you know, I had a young father that had me at 19, you know what I mean, and, you know, great guy, stayed with my mother the whole time, everything else.

You know, I learned he was working all night and then we got a job as a police officer later on. Like, so, you know, I have a lot, and he taught me well, but I learned a lot about life through comics growing up. I did through the good, the bad, the gray. I did. It sounds corny as hell. I get it.

But, you know, how about acceptance without beating you over the head? What are the X-Men? They are just, they are outcast. They're different. And now it's not like they're different because of their, um, their gender or what are they, you know, they're different because they're different because they're, they're different and they have a world that just hate them because they're different because they're mutants and that teaches you that that is you know that that type of um bigotry bigotry yeah exactly

is awful yeah so i've had that i mean without having it without again beating you over ahead with just different like scenarios where it's it just makes you i teach you out of the stories well i think that that is the message that i've had that message since the x-men in the 84 you know Well, that's what I was saying. So, like, I do think that when the messages are relevant and the messages fit the story, messages are important. But I think that it's a matter of, and this is what I think Deadpool is doing, right? And I think that this is, and I think that they're aware of it.

And I think they're starting to understand that. And I think it feels like there's, there's shifts in certain parts of the medium that are doing. And then there's others that are continuing to try different things. But, you know, can I just say what something? And I'm not a, you know, I'm not a square. I'm obviously not a square for a cage for a living. you know what I don't like about the Deadpool movies that I don't like the jokes about only because I do a joke about everything but only because it's a kids comic book movie

like I don't like I'll take a marijuana joke or a cannabis joke anytime they're big on the cocaine stuff and it's like I don't know I guess it's kind of funny but like they could go back to it and cocaine I don't know it's just like it kind of takes me like a little it's funny though I love that joke though I don't know but now they're going back to it and it's just You know, the Fikey stuff was funny? No, I liked it in the first one. Oh, I like that in the trailer. Right now, the third one,

she said, something else about cocaine. It's just like, well, it was the trailer. They said that Fikey said that we could do anything we wanted to, but cocaine's off limits. I got a kick out of it because. And she's always, she's arguing with it?

Yeah, I got a kick out. I don't know, man. I just think that stuff's kind of like the devil. So like to put that in the kids, I don't listen. I don't know. To put that in the kids movie, kind of make light of it.

You think that pulls a kid's movie, though? I know it's a comic movie, fuck i mean you don't think kids are going who's i mean adults will see it yeah but you don't think any kids gonna go fucking one of the teenagers and stuff oh 100% yeah like so if you kind of make light of it and they try it they fuck for life so it's like i don't i don't know i've seen a lot of shit as my age i get it i'm not i'm not like being like oh my god i'm not offended i'm just like oh like i actually you can do with that like after that like i would tell because my kids are gonna well no hold but i don't let my kids see the stuff when there's a lot of sex in it and stuff like that

So I'm not a, I'm smart with that, the language they could take. But if there's references to that, I would 100% let them know that, you know, daddy never tried any kind of power. You know, you know, I'd let them know that. I'm very open my kids. Yeah. Yeah. Because I see, you know, I'm sure we've both seen a lot with that type of shit. If you, I couldn't even imagine, you on cocaine would be the scariest thing.

That would be like an A24. It would be like a Blount house phone. I can't do. I know, I have a strict rule of no pills, no powder. Even for my stomach, I got like stomach issues. I got that ulcerative colitis. The audience wants to know this about my stomach. So I'm seeing like a holistic guy with like trying to get my gut right.

Yeah. Because I go to the doctor. They're like, I take the, you know, you can take these pills and they'll calm down the, um, the ulcers or whatever.

And, uh, but you know, in like not for like 10 years. Then it affects your liver. And then what? Then I need it. My stomach's good.

I need a new liver. Right. Fuck, get out of here. Right. I'd rather just try to fix the problem. You get. That's your other thing,

This is the first picture of Dwayne Johnson as a smashing machine. This is the first photo out of Dwayne Johnson in full wig and makeup and almost unrecognizable as MMA legend Mark Kerr for A24 as the smashing machine. A24 posted the teaser shot from the film, which is held by Good Time and Uncut Jem's co-director, co-director, Benny Safi, in his first solo directorial effort. Johnson reportedly flew into Cannes last week to meet with buyers, sorting plenty of hair, different tattoos, and an adjusted face. It marks a major dramatic role for the actor.

Kerr was a two-time UFC heavyweight tournament champion. He rose through the fighting world with his no-holds-barred's approach, however, an addiction to pain killers ultimately led to an overdose. Emily Blunt co-stars as Don Staples, Mark's wife, who struggles to find her place with Mark's chaotic and contradictory world. So this is, and it's seven bucks is producing it. So, all right, man, you knew the guy. Is that what do you think about the photo?

I think that's a great picture of him. Yeah. It looks just like him. At first, when I seen it, I didn't know if it was him or... Okay. That's great. That's amazing. So tell me a little bit about him. You know, he was... There's a great documentary on him.

Now, that's called Smashing Machine. Yes. The Smashing Machine is a documentary on him. Did you see it? No. Oh, I recommend it. Okay. It shows you, you know, his addiction,

He got addicted to opiates. Yeah. So he would get just juiced up. Yeah. And just then out there and, uh, and, and, and just smash me. I mean, he was, I mean, he was, I saw enough, I seen a fight in him in Brazil versus, um, a guy, a very good jitzy fighter named Fabio Gajel. Okay. And this was still when there's no weight classes.

And all he would do was getting his guard. Now, usually you want to pass the guard. And he would just hold them. And this was headbutts allowed. Yeah. You would just be headbutting. you know uh fabi gusel very good jihitsu player one of the best uh he you know he survived but it was a 30 minute match but he got he got he you know his eye was shut yeah yeah so i mean

but everybody in the ufc he just ran through guys ran through him there was a time i was in japan and i was supposed to fight in something called pride yeah you know pride was a big organization organization in japan it was it was the two huge ones with the ufc which obviously is still around and pride you know in Japan. So I was over there I was going to make my debut over there fighting some Lutra Lever fighter, Brazilian fighter, Joe Hill

de Oliveira. And the craziest thing happened. I was backstage, they go, look, the Japanese lady goes, do not go past the X, the fireworks. So Henzos like, ah, it's the pyrotechnics, you know?

Like, you know, that come up, you know. There was a language barrier with them and the Brazilians. So I'm waiting backstage The Brazilian's going to walk up He got lit up by the Pirate tactics, right? Horrible.

So next to you know, I'm waiting backstage Who runs up to us? Mark Kerr. And now Marker's a big guy I wonder if they do it in the In the documentary. His voice is a little feminine for a big guy. So he came up and he said he knows Henzo

Well, well so he was like Henzo, Henzo, Enzo! Big, big up, juiced up, Marker. It's horrible, it's horrible. He's on fire. You know, you know, come with me. Like, Hensel is some doctor.

You know what I mean? So Hensel goes with him and the guy's sitting here, burnt, like how much percent of his body, I believe, I forgot the percentage, but like, I don't know what, was it third, no, horror. Third degree burns? Third degree. I'm not sure how, I'm not sure the degree,

but it was bad. He was burnt up. So Henzel took a bucket of water and threw it on all. I don't know if that's what you should do. I don't think so. That's what he did. Okay. And, you know, that's just a story that sticks out with Mark Kerr in my head.

You know, him coming over. I'm waiting to get cold for my entrance. It's longer than unusual. And then big huge Mark Kerr comes over and tells us about my opponent lit on fire. Wow. No, that's one story. But I've met more several times. Always a nice guy.

That's what's going to ask you. So he's a very nice guy. It was good to you. And so. Always nice. Yeah, very nice. You know, he knew Henzel very well, my instructor. And always pleasant.

Yeah, for a big guy. All those guys, man, all those guys from the early years, man. It's amazing. People don't understand because it gets the bad rap in the beginning of 93 because there's no rules to it. And it wouldn't have survived if it didn't get structured in the way that it ultimately did. But how important it was for those guys to set the name of the brand in the first place, even before, you know, Dan and everybody got involved in it.

But the idea that he's getting a movie, you think this will lead to more. more UFC films getting made? The movie about the biggest upset ever? Is that what you're saying? No, I was going that route. Hey, listen, you never know. Who'd you want to play? Somebody under 5-8.

Somebody under 5-7. Yeah. That's what I'd have in the contract. I want a short man to take the world by storm like I did. But I don't know. It'd have to be just done well because somebody is a horrible, these biopics. Yeah, well, I mean, I think, but I think it is interesting to see because more. That looks good, by the.

But I got a picture. But there's only a handful of MMA movies and there's only a handful that are good. Like I, what did you, I know Rogan doesn't like Warrior. I liked Warrior. Warrior wasn't bad. There was a lot of good stuff in Warrior. I went to the actually premiere in Manhattan with my wife. They wanted the producer, his name's escaping me, nice guy.

Yeah. But he wanted me as a, like to come out as a on set. Oh, yeah. Consultant? Yeah. But I had to get ready for the second. St. Pierre fight. I should have took the job.

Maybe fucking had some extra time to train for that fucking thing. No, but yeah, yeah, nice guy. We went to Manhattan for the premiere of that. It was nice. Yeah, I like that movie. It wasn't, I thought it wasn't bad. Yeah. A really good

show that represents, well, the Frank Rillo one? Yes, the Frank Rillo one. Kingdom. Okay, I believe it's called. Yes, I haven't seen it, but I heard it's pretty great. It reminds me a Longo's Jim. Does it?

Yeah, it's. There's a lot of characters in there that they, it's so, it just, and Frank Rillo was amazing in it. He's great. Oh, because it shows you like sometimes you bring guys up, they take off and this guy's like another trainer gets in trying to get in your, uh, fight his ear. Like, hey, do this. You're kissing their ass. And it's just, you see a lot of familiar characters. It's so funny that they really pegged that down.

Yeah. Well, he was, and he was in Warrior also. But I mean, I think that there's so many, there's been so many boxing movies, obviously, and so many great, great boxing movies. that I would like to see, especially more UFC films, and maybe this is like the first one, because I don't think there's been, I mean, the last thing that I saw was in Roadhouse, when they actually had Gyllenhaal in the UFC for like, you know,

just one, did you see the U.S. The Roadhouse movie, the remake? Oh, I enjoy it. It was fun. It's fine. But that was the only time that I remember, and I think the Kevin James movie, too. The Kevin James movie that they did had also had actual UFC,

like, sign off. Yeah, I mean, Kevin James is great. That's another guy. No, he's a nice guy. I'm a name dropper. No. But he's a nice guy. I mean,

people want to know about him. He's a sweet, sweet guy. Yeah. Because he'd be down at Longo's a lot. Oh, he's very good friends with Chris Wyatman. Okay. I don't know him where I have his number.

And he's, I can see him. He's a nice guy. He's buddies with Longo. Yeah. One time he gave Longo a black eye and sparring. He was a badge of honor. And Longo was actually on his show when it was on there.

Oh, was it? Oh, was it? When Harry, no, no, no, no. Yeah, no, the newer one. Oh, okay. Something to tomorrow or something like that. I forgot the name of it. I never really watched it, but he was on that one with Harry Connick Jr.

Okay. Where Longo had one line. It was phenomenal. He wouldn't play it enough. That's awesome. Oh, it was phenomenal. Yeah, because he was, so that movie was another one. I remember when I saw that because I was reviewing it for Shmose, and I was surprised

that it was a pretty good representation. Yeah. You could tell that he was a fan. But do you think that, so with Kerr, you think, think this is the right you think he deserves a movie oh i think his stories yeah i mean i think then he became like a used car salesman or something i don't know i don't want to give way to plot but uh you know he had a he had a hard time man he got addicted to those drugs and then had a downfall so you know it's not exactly a happy stuff i mean maybe hopefully he does well from this movie and it's a 24 i'm sure

did you see that freaking uh the iron claw i i didn't i did not lot ray lago said he saw it it was brutal it's brutal it's a great movie but it's brutal it's hard to watch yeah Yeah, I hate negative stuff. It's not negative. No, there's certain movies that are sad that I do like, like The Road. Oh, my God, that's a great. I don't know why I like that movie, but it's depressing, but it's still. You like the Postal Apocalyptic shit, too, though.

I do like that. I just saw a fallout. I thought that was a great series. And I'm a video game guy. I never really played the game. Yeah. But I enjoy that. Yeah.

I couldn't get into that. But a different, see, that's the funny thing that knows. It was horrible. You don't, and this is what I try to tell people that are like, because you're like, you're, you're a little bit more than the casual fan,

because you're, you're invested in this stuff, but, like, you don't pay attention to a lot of the, like, the, which companies are making it, make me something good and that's it. Do you, did you know that the Lord of the Rings, because you said, like, well, they got to win me back because of the TV series, right? Two different companies. Warner Brothers and New Line are doing the movie,

and then Amazon has the show. Listen, Peter Jackson did his best with The Hobbit, even though those weren't, they had good, you know, they tried to just get some extra bucks there. Yeah. But the three Lord of the Rings movies were great. Peter Jackson's coming back. With Peter Jackson coming back, I feel it's going to be quality.

Yeah. I mean, because I think that every, even King Kong was fun. You know, I think he puts, he has, he cares about it. Yeah. So, you know, but I'll tell you the Amazon thing. Holy crap. I mean, I'm seeing, and again, not to get crazy, but Star Wars again, the Akelyte. You know, again, I think that's more about delivery.

They even, she's even open about it. So our number one thing is diversity. And that's your number one thing, then you're already losing me. Because that's what you're, number one thing you care about is, is that. What about the story and the characters, you know? I don't know.

I just think that looks like garbage too. But I'll go in there with an open mind. I'm going to, I have an open mind about it because of the time period. They have not done, they kept doing stuff that's so close to the Skywalker era. This is the first one that takes place. Years beforehand, like 100 years or something like that before Phantom Menace. I don't like when they're trying to say, oh, what Ryan Johnson did in The Last Jedi. You love that movie.

That's the movie they're referencing to. They're taking that kind of a bold changes. But aren't you big, your big Knives Out guy? Knives Out probably wasn't bad, but I couldn't. You couldn't stand there. But, you know, the, you know, the Star Wars stuff, you know, I really enjoyed the Mandalorian. One of my black belts I call Jedi's. Brian Hernandez for my birthday got me a Mandalorian helmet.

I went out of my story the other day. I was wearing in my father-law's man cave after some grampa. But, you know, that Mandalorian, season one and two were phenomenal. They were great. They were really. That's the kind of stuff I'm into. Yeah, and the movie.

I don't trust it in the hands of that girl, the lady, she seems that she's got an agenda. I want to see. An agenda. There was one white ginger kitten. He got possessed and died right away in the trailer. I'm just saying, you know, I'm just saying. Put it out there.

Well, we're going to. It's got that, dude, that. House the Dragon. You Game of Thrones guy? Yeah, like, oh, fuck you. Yeah. House the Dragon. And then the boys season four.

Yeah. And then the Bear season three all come out in the same month. It's going to be a crazy month. But we are going to. Was that last one you said? The bear? The bear? do you not watch the bear dude that's the one it's the bear is the the the show

on hulu it's the the the the the the chef in uh in chicago it's got yeah it's got germy all right it's it's one of the best shows on it's go out why is he a bear what's going on here it's name of the restaurant oh there you yeah yeah it's it's it's but it's um it's phenomenal dude it's watch it's it's about a chef so jeremy allen white played he's he's he was a chef that went that wound up working in one of those high-end restaurants and i think it was in manhattan but But he left his family and didn't really talk to him much. And he comes back because his brother was played by John Bernthal was the Punisher. He comes back.

His brother's passed away. So, and his brother had like this kind of dive joint. And he goes and takes it over. But he tries to put like the five, you know, the five star treatment to it. And these people like this, you know, manage an regular, like a diner. And then so it's him trying to get it all the way classed up. But all this kind of, it's like a comedy slash drama. But you talk about writing.

Phenomenal. I'd about all these different awards, everything, too. If somebody told me the premise of breaking bed, I'd be like, I'm not interested. And then I watch it, and I'm like, oh, my God. I never thought I'd be interested in a high school teacher making meth. You know what I mean? So it's all about how it's presented. It's the bear, and it's half an hour.

I never heard. The Guardians of the Galaxy, the first Iron Man movie, these weren't strong characters when I was a kid. I hardly knew much about him. Iron Man wasn't popular. It's all how it's done. Those movies were great. So people, you know what I mean? It's all how it's put together, you know?

So when I hear the premise, like I'm just saying, like that Acculate Trail, it just, I kind of know where we're going with it. But what I will tell you, the thing that I will say about you, though, is that... That poor Ginger kid, he got it right away. But be honest with me, though, too. If this show comes out, right? Yes. Because there's a difference between people who just want to go into it, not like it.

And then if you... I don't want going in negative. But if it winds up turning you around, you'll be the first to say that actually the writing was pretty good. It did work out. Oh, no, I will. A hundred percent. Yeah. Trying to think of anything I thought of like that, where I thought it was, because I usually There was a few, I mean, there was one that you and I were talking, but I can't

remember what it was, and you thought it was going to be dog shit and I wound up really liking it. I can't remember what it was either, but I remember. I liked Endor a lot. I thought OB1 was just, oh. Bad writing. Bad writing, man. You want a story about the sassy, uh, inquire, what's the Inquisitor? Inquisitor girl. The former Jedi girl. Did make a story about her? I want to know about Obi-1 and more about him.

He's got plenty of to do with Obi-1. But we had to make it about that girl. I mean, make her own story, you know? F-off! What about Kevin Smith, those damn He-Man movies? How about you make a team? I mean, I know it's Masters of the Universe, but let's be honest. It's about He-Man.

Instead, Tila kind of steals the show. I know that's been talked about, but boys, that annoying? Kevin Smith, really, that that, that, that, um, that's fine. the Jay and Silent Bob reboot. Yeah.

I didn't make it through that thing. And I love Jay. Oh my God. I like that one. Mass. It's like that movie from a message. It's like, we ever see a Menace to Society.

The, the, the, um, while drink, sipping your juice in the hood. Every once in a while, you see Keenan and on whim show up. Message.

That's what I felt like when I'm watching this shit. Oh, all right. Well, that one, that one actually, I mean, I was sick when I watched it on,

on, when it came out on prime. I got a kick out of that one. the latest one you're talking about. Which one we're talking about? The Kevin Smith, the Jay and Saddam. Oh, I couldn't even get through.

Wow. What do you call it? And not for nothing. Jay said, Mewles, he looks like a meth head kind of. Well, he's,

he, is he a former meth thing? He turned himself around. Okay, good thing. He was great in the other one. And I was a fan of Kevin Smith. I just thought that reboot was just,

oh my God. Oh. So Matt's, Matt, if you heard it here. You heard it here. And I was such a Kevin Smith fan.

It's just like, he kind of like got like how it's stern a little bit. No. It's just like in that kind of like crowd. I don't know. All right. Well, you heard it here. That's not looking forward.

More rats with the obscure back in the day. comic book references. I'm an old school Kevin Smith fan. I really did like his earlier work. Let's talk a little Furiosa, Matt. So I just watched Mad Max Fury Road again, and I've seen this movie. I've seen Furiosa. It's coming out of here, the question is going to be now,

what can Furiosa do in regards to box office? Because the Kingdom of the Planning Ips is doing fairly well. It's doing okay. If it hits 500 mil over its run, it'll make a little bit of a profit. And it's, it's on par with everything that the other movies have done thus far.

I like that message, by the way. Which one? I liked it. I didn't see it, but I like it. I like it. I heard it in the thing.

I like that. Yeah. I like to bring people together. Well, Kingdom is a good movie. I liked, I liked Fall Guy. I liked, nobody saw it.

the first episode should be about Dune and Dune 2. Oh, I'm down. Right? It should be. Oh, let's go. I loved your, when we talked about Dune one, it was you love that scene when he's trained and with Groland in the beginning. Listen, what is mood?

So I don't think it was my number one most anticipated movie of the year. And it delivered. So Furiosa was on there. I think it's a really well done movie. The sound is, it's incredible. Dude, this is a movie you have to see in the theater.

I mean, you have to see this in the theater. It's like the sound. The sound over kind of really overtakes you. But what it does is I watched, We watched Mad Max again after we saw it. And Mad Max Fury Road definitely plays like a sequel now to Furiosa. And you look at this, the idea of it, the power in the sound,

the power in what George Miller is still doing. I thought it was really good movie. Now, the question is, is it going to make the kind of money to get the theaters back rolling again? I don't know, because you go to the movies a lot, right? You go, now, do you, how often, though, do you take your family or you, like, when you're on the road and stuff, you, you kind of, and you, definitely, when I'm on the road, like, by myself, I definitely go, I'm that guy that will go by himself to a movie. I love that. I'm just in my own world. I usually go with my family. We haven't been going as much, to be honest with you. Right. With, you know, one kid's in my, and dance. The more always at the jihitsu school and who's got a competition coming up. And with all the streaming services. Exactly. Oh, yeah. I got a big TV. You know, right.

So we were watching, we just started into the last Ghostbusters. We didn't get through it yet, but, uh, so far, so good. It's fun. But, you know, so we watch a lot of stuff at home and, you know, it comes out pretty much the same time, like how many weeks later. Yeah. But I do like the movie theater experience, you know, it's different now. Like, I got to get up close.

I get annoyed easily. I hate when people have stuff, uh, their phones lighten up and. Trust me nuts. People have no, people have no class. They have no regard. No, like the younger, the worst, like, you know. And they don't even, you lighten this. How about you lower the screen?

How about you lower the lighting on the screen? So if I see something in the corner of my eye, it don't annoy me. So I... Do you say anything? Yes, all too often. Yeah, well, there's a time where me and my wife and her at the Hulk. I think I told you this story already. Oh, I said on my podcast.

You know I'm getting my brother So she ran out She ran out She's He came back with like five, six, ten kids and a bunch of them. Where is he? This and I go, all I'm thinking is, now they're big kids.

But they're kids. Now, the only thing, there's almost nothing worse than hearing about a UFC fighter knocking out a kid. Right. The only thing worse than that is a UFC fighter getting his ass kicked by some kids. So I have to be prepared to possibly defend myself from a pack of kids. Right. So at my wife, I go, listen, honey. I go, we were walking out of the thing

and they were like walking behind us. Go, honey, go to the, first you know, I'm not afraid of them. My mom, this is before she started training. You know, my wife just had an MMA fight. I told me. So, you know, and then it was a, so then they ended up running out of the place.

And then nothing ended up happening. But then there was this one fucking guy, like when I'm arguing with the kids, oh, you know, I go, yeah, shush. Now you want to say something. And I got mad at him. Like, like, He had nothing to say when these kids are making noise.

Now he's trying to tell us to be quiet. I wanted to put my popcorn bucket over his head. So I got out of there, but it was a bad experience. So yeah, do I say something? Another time I'm in there, we have a theater to ourselves, me and my wife, and there was another two guys. So a couple like a hairbag type biker guys. Like, and they were going in and out, like smoking, like cigarettes or whatever else.

They're in the living room. And then all then, you know, they're behind. us how many rolls and she said they lit up a cigarette in there oh no way we was which is we did you see this is at the uh westbury farmingdale uh or the one 10 theater i that's what i'm like you know what fuck this and there's only two of them i can yeah i felt confident i went over like man he goes i go put out there he goes nope no problem man no problem so it wasn't a problem he sort of look at my eye yeah yeah but uh yeah i don't want to have to do that shit i know i just want to relax but that was a while ago on both of those right the last one wasn't too

long. But, you know, listen, I'm a, you know, you got to have some regard for people. This is why I don't, I'm not good in public. I like to go to my house to my school. I'll hang out. I'll do Joe Rogan once. I like to be with my people. You know what I mean?

But we've had this conversation, dude, on this show many times and why the theaters are not doing as well as they used to. There's a lot. That's a major part of it. And another major part are ticket prices in how you have to, spend the amount of money you do on the actual admission, on how much money you're spending on, on

concessions, on all these things, especially you're going out with your family. You're dropping a little bit there. I need my popcorn, though. Right. And, well, that's what somebody said. We were having this conversation the other day, and someone's like, well, don't get food. Like, it's not that easy. When you're sitting there and you're, especially if you're there for all, during 55 minutes of previews,

and you're in the middle of what you get thirsty? Well, listen, not to tell you what to do, but you want to hit five below before and you put it in your wife's purse. No one's I mean, five below, you get the same shit. But listen, I like to give to the theaters when I'm there because I feel like that's where they make their money. They don't make the money with the movie. So I don't really bitch about the prices.

No, it's just, well, but it's... I'm sitting weird. My legs falling asleep. So I just hold on me. These chairs are terrible. We're going to get this in. It's fine, man. Let this go.

All right, last week came the news that this year's Call of Duty game will be the first title in the series to be included in Xbox's GamePass subscription service at the launch. It means for players with the access to Xbox platforms, the entry for the game could be

as little as $11. However, a new report on Reset Era suggests the addition of the new Call of Duty to Game Pass will come alongside Microsoft using the opportunity to refresh its service. The insider wouldn't specifically confirm a price increase or a tier restructure only that there will be changes. Even so, this is quickly lit to speculation of new fees or different tiers. The inclusion of the GamePath service was a major part of contention in the court battles following the merger of Xbox and Activision slash Blizzard. New Call of Duty title, which is yet to be officially announced, is expected to be revealed on June 9th as part of a special digital presentation following the Xbox Games showcase. So do you have the Xbox game pass?

Let me tell you about what I'm playing now. Yeah, please tell me. And if you like Caller Duty, I'm playing something called Contractor Showdown on the Meta Quest 3. Okay. It's basically, if you ever played Modern Warfare, where it's... You love that one. Well, no one's great, but it's the Battle Royale one.

Yeah. Where it's Call of Duty and it's Battle Royale, whether you have squads or solos, which I've been playing, which is. phenomenal. You get dropped out of a plane. You got to get weapons. You could find attachments. You could buy money, buy things add on to it.

Buy insurance if you die, you come back, different things like that. But it is, it's basically modern warfare. If you ever play that in VR, so it's, dude, the mechanics, it's so much fun and I could never go back. I'll play it. I've not played Xbox at the ages.

The last thing I played just for fun, which is not bad is actually Fortnite with my kids they'll play that and you're VR your VR I am VR I was into pop one yeah like crazy population one

which is a fun game and I'm surprised I was into because it's a little arcade it's a little fortnight looking kind of in VR but it's fun it's a fun game this thing is next level

Any vibe-wise, any crossover stuff that you've seen or been a part of with WWE stuff at all? Or have you seen any of that? To me, nothing at all. I work, you know, remotely for the UFC. And I do other projects with the UFC called there's a show if somebody, anybody wants to be.

which won and done with that. Where? Where was it? Was it the Laugh Factory? Okay. I'm 99% sure. Okay. Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

Brian Kallan was there. These are, that's the LA episode. That's a great show. I did dog sledding. So I do stuff like that for the UFC. And then I've had UFC fighters in there and still in there, which I corner, which I'm taking back a little bit now for doing that.

How come? Yeah. There's like, you know, several reasons. Okay. You know, I'm doing a lot more staying home by my school. Okay. And, you know, a lot of the fighters, they, that since COVID are in, are in, in Los Vegas. Okay. So it's one of those things where it's no longer me, Longo, my guy. It's me,

longer my guy, and maybe a plus one. I'm not good with plus ones. Yeah. So, you know, I love all my guys, but I'm kind of, you know, I'm working with some young talent, which I have fun with. My daughter is competing. Yeah. My wife might have a match coming up. She is having a match coming up soon. So it's fun, man. And I like to, like I said, man, in my retirement, I like to make good people dangerous. So it's more so, right? And the UFC Unfiltered, which I do from my house now. So that's phenomenal. That's great. And you and Dana have stayed pretty tight for it.

Oh, 100%. Were you friends with him before, like, because I know you did you get closer through Ultimate Fighter or were you guys already close before that? I always got along with Dana. I have nothing. I mean, from the very, my very first memory of Dana, one of them is when I was getting taken out on a stretcher with the Shawnee caught a fight.

And he loved the, the fight was a fun fight. Yeah. Until the last 15 seconds when I got, ran into a back fist. but, you know, I remember him just being adamant about, listen, we're going to have you back. That was a great fight. That was an exciting fight, man. You took risks.

And he's been that same guy since. I always got along with him. I never had a problem with that. And I'm a guy that, you know, if we don't mesh well, we don't mesh well. You know, but I've always got along with Dana. I make him laugh. And, you know, we're friends for a long time. I've had my first fight in the UFC at 2001, you know.

And I've been retired. right now since I'm, you know, 37, 36 was my last fight. That's right. 36 was my last fight. 49 now, about to be 50. So I was still with the UFC after all that time. Yeah, that's like 24 years. I'm still getting paid.
