Starting point is 00:00:00 Got Penny and Barbara Superfan here today with me on the show. We're going to be talking about a lot of different things, everybody. We got stuff to discuss. So apparently, they're going to move forward with a death stroke and Bain movie following Manna Tomorrow. I think that's a major mistake. I don't know if Mike feels the same. I'm going to say that he doesn't think of the mistake. But maybe I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:00:26 We'll discuss those topics. For sure. And we'll kind of break down what's going on in general with the DC universe at the moment. Supergirl, staying on that topic, looks like it's going to lose the company over $100 million. Is that Zaslov going to, who, I don't know it anymore? DC crime casting and shooting updates, Jimmy Olsen TV series. this is all this whole freaking show is DC apparently so I got to look at some other stories too
Starting point is 00:01:03 but we'll be talking about other things and then Mike and I just kind of get into it Luke or PL TV funny other topics it's not DC as well great let me know all right let's get into it it's the it's the show it's me and Mike there you shit in there what's going on everybody
Starting point is 00:01:31 welcome back to the show joining me on this Tuesday Mike Kalanowski is here. What's up, Michael? How are you? Do people call you Michael? Is anyone else
Starting point is 00:01:41 your family? My parents. Someone called me the other day at work. I don't care. People get upset when you don't call them by their name. I don't care. There are a lot of people that get upset when you don't call them like their right name
Starting point is 00:01:57 or what they're always called by and they get fucking pissed off. I'm like, it's my name. It was on my birth certificate. Call me it. I don't care. I think that's a mature way to handle it. I happen to be in the in the group of what you, who you just mentioned.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I don't like, so very, I know very, call you champ, chief boss, you get, no, no,
Starting point is 00:02:16 crazy. That's different. When people call me Chris, there's only, there's only, there's only a few people that call me Chris. And I don't, like Christian and Chris is,
Starting point is 00:02:25 that doesn't match. That's like, that's like Christopher and Chris. Right. But so, well, it's funny though, because like my,
Starting point is 00:02:33 um, my family, my brother, my my my mom here she's she'll she'll do it but my dad definitely um some of my you know family but and some of my childhood friends right but like i my wife when she tries i go don't you don't do that should call you chris she she tried a long time ago but it was shot down really fast um and i just it just doesn't it doesn't fit for me don't like it so um yeah no no problem there I call you Chrissy, like
Starting point is 00:03:07 in Sopranos? Chrisie. Yeah, if I can call you sloppy balls. How about that? Sure, call me sloppy balls, don't like shit. Poppy balls. How is, um, you know, it's so funny is that I was, I think Ed Harold mentioned it, that, um, Penny's going to be in town. She's me in New York.
Starting point is 00:03:22 In L.A.? Oh, New York. Were you guys? Yeah, so, um. She's stopping off for a road trip, stopping off of the local gas station. We're not here, but if I was going to do the gas station, that would go over well. Where is you doing the one of the one one interview at a gas station. No.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Shut the fuck up. Referencing her stopping off on the side of a road on her road trip. Yeah. They just pull off the side of the road. Yeah. Yeah. Do you know, anyway,
Starting point is 00:03:56 the point is that I wanted to try to get some movie talk going if she's going to be in town. I just don't know if she will be. uh we'll see but yeah i will tell you that i don't know if anything that you do on this show makes me laugh more than god much what oh yeah here you oh yeah he'll fucking donkey stop heading it peeled they leave it alone here we go
Starting point is 00:04:39 kills me. It kills me. He-ha. Oh, he-ha. It drives me nuts. I like it. Anyway, so good to have you back here, Mike. We got a lot to talk about because I saw a lot of your tweets, saw a lot of things. It's funny because someone included me in your tweet
Starting point is 00:04:59 and they were, and I mentioned it to... It's so funny how you will, like, randomly get pissed off about something. No, no, I didn't say that. I didn't say that. You just did what that guy did. That guy said, I hated the movie, which is not accurate. I said, I just, it's forget.
Starting point is 00:05:16 No, your response is, I didn't like it, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. So what did you do? You just said I got mad. You just said I got mad. But you never jump in on my tweets. You never jump in on my tweets. I don't like when people misrepresent opinions. It's one thing if he said to you, it's one thing if he said to you, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:34 Harle didn't really dig it. And, you know, because for me, it's, the movie is, There's some, and I said this a thousand times over. There's a lot in there that works. There's a lot that doesn't. It's really clunky, the villain is awful. Jeremy Johns, I don't know if Pieldi put it back in there because I told him to move it. He's like, damn it, I put it back in there, you idiot.
Starting point is 00:05:54 And now I've got to put it back in there. His impression of the villain was the most accurate. Pilly, if you still have it, can you upload it in there? So I may know if you have it. It's the best because the villain is, is God awful. I Yeah, I thought the movie was fine I didn't love it
Starting point is 00:06:11 I didn't hate it I don't think it deserves anything Whether it's getting from like variety and stuff At all I think they were extreme That this is like it is It's fine Like do I want to see another supergirl?
Starting point is 00:06:25 No Do I want to see her again? Yes But like the villain So the people go after him like In the comic the villain is boring too Like The villain
Starting point is 00:06:33 I don't remember him I don't remember He's like a barbarian was he He looks like he looks like coy. He absolutely looks like coy in the comic. So they had to do something to make him at least stand out. But in the comic, it's not his story either.
Starting point is 00:06:45 So when people go after the villain, I'm just like, whatever. Yeah, it was fine. It was fine. So, yeah. I mean, like, like I said, I just, it's like, I think people are really tearing into it. Like that it's one of the worst movies ever. Yeah, that is absolutely ridiculous. I think that's extreme.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I don't think it's good, but I think it's extreme. But this is the impression of the, of Jeremy's, uh, for the villain, which I thought was just perfect. I really liked the quotable lines from the villain, such as, and when he looks surprised and looks like he's doing a bad Robert De Niro impersonation. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:18 He was awful. He does that. Dude, the villain does do that a lot. Ooh. He he he. It's so stupid. It's so stupid.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I think Jeremy nailed it. But anyway, so I want to, like, the question is, and I think you said this, though, and which I agree with you,
Starting point is 00:07:36 if you did say it, which is, I don't think that this should have been the second movie, right? Out the gate. It did. I might have said it. I don't know. I think you did. It doesn't make sense. It was the second movie.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And I think that what they should do, and we talked about this yesterday with Roka myself, is that you got to be able to take the loss and then say, okay, well, what do we do to fix it so we don't get another loss? And manna tomorrow looks like it's going to people are going to be excited to see that one. And it should do well. And then it's like, well, where do we go next? And the rumors were that they were going to do a death stroke movie and then a Bain movie. And you're like, well, I don't know the obscure characters right now are the way to go. Looks like they're moving forward with that plan. Yeah, I'm going to give Roka props because I give him a lot of shit about his attack on DC and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:08:23 But like he he had tweeted. Like I think he kind of felt the same way I do on the movie. Like it's fine. It's not terrible. It's not great. But like, yeah, I think DC like, like, Supergirl was a head-scratching choice with what they went with, but I was like,
Starting point is 00:08:39 I don't know what their plan is, okay. But I definitely think conversations have to happen now. And I think they've already happened before this, where they were like, they got rid of the authority. And I think Batman and Wonder Woman definitely took a big jump forward. But this was a little while ago.
Starting point is 00:08:56 This wasn't a result of Supergirl. I think they know they've got to get going with the big guns, you know, they were thinking in the past, like, well, we've got to distance ourselves from what just happened. I think that is gone or they need to move on from that. But, like, yeah, the death stroke, Bain, I'm scratching my head at that. I'm like, I don't, I don't understand it. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:18 And I'm not clamoring for that. I don't know. And again, that's why people, I'm such a DC guy, but it's like, I don't fucking, like, we used to make crap at the, at the Star Wars. Everything is awesome crowd. Like, I want DC to be successful. And if it's going to be successful, it needs to do some right choice. It's digging your heels in with like this is our plan.
Starting point is 00:09:39 We're doing it's like you have to listen to what the audience is telling you and they're not. This is this is gun being very stubborn. I think you know I one thing I tweeted out the other day that I'm pretty proud of was the fact that you know he's getting a lot of shit for his comment about it was one of the best scripts I've read. And then they're going after her for you know, she's on Wonder Woman now. but a movie is made three times when it's written, when it's shot, when it's edited. So if this script, they first saw when they first started, it was what they greenlit,
Starting point is 00:10:12 you know, and then they were like, get her on one woman because this script is awesome. But then they're shooting it, and then they're editing it, and things have changed, and you could definitely see stuff was cut out of it. Yeah, it was, it was butchered, for sure. Yeah, so where did that happen? Was it a case of Gunn was busy on Man Up Tomorrow
Starting point is 00:10:29 and just was seeing dailies? And it was like, okay, they're doing their thing. you know, I mean, the one hand, if he didn't like what he was seeing, at least he didn't pull what had happened in the past and come in and take over the film. Well, that's kind of the rumor. But we don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Yeah, the rumors are that he got pretty involved. Okay, then maybe they weren't, maybe the script was being deviated from, and he's just like, all right, this isn't what we agreed on. But I do see the people who are like, guns, fingerprints are all over it or the music and this and that. But, like, I think the big tests are going to be, lanterns and Clayface, not so much
Starting point is 00:11:05 if DC is dead or not, but will these different visions work? Well, I mean, because Clayface and lanterns does not have guns stamp on them of his stock at all. No, it doesn't. I mean, it's an executive decision, but right, it doesn't have his flavor.
Starting point is 00:11:21 This is another thing that Roca and I discussed yesterday with Clayface. Clayface is tricky to really judge DC on because if Clayface probably constant I think $30 million. I don't forget what the number is, PLD.
Starting point is 00:11:35 And Luke, can you send me the article? 30 or 40, I think. Luke, can you send me the article about the, the, um, death stroke and Bain movies? I'm not, I'm not seeing it. Um, so anyway,
Starting point is 00:11:48 but, uh, death, death stroke. Clayface, if you're, if you're going to do 30, 40 million dollars and the movie, if the movie wants it making, like, let's say, $100 million. That, that is a financial win for them if it does that. If it makes three, hundred million dollars, right? Then you can start to look and say, wait a minute, maybe we can start
Starting point is 00:12:10 to do more of these and maybe direct more of our strategy towards more of these and connected however we can, but just make more of these and it starts to become a hire of a strategy. It's really starting to make kind of Blumhouse money over the budgets that they're making ability. And what was the other one that you sell? And then Lanterns is going to definitely definitely help with, if it's good, help with more of like, okay, well, look, maybe this grounded thing is working a little bit more. Let's try it. But the problem with lanterns is it never bodes well with the delays and the pushbacks and the new trailers and all this. It's like it got pushed back again, the show. When's it supposed to come out? I thought August. Didn't it get pushed back? Am I wrong?
Starting point is 00:12:58 I don't know. I think the date is, I think it's August. I think it's set. All right. Maybe. Maybe. I believe so. I thought it was delayed again, but maybe, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, it's, I mean, I mean, I don't know. I don't, I'm sure they are trying to figure it out. August 16th. It is August 16th.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Okay, so August 16th. Good way to judge and see how, okay, it is August coming out. Okay, I was wrong. I mean, they're bringing up good points online. I was reading a lot about. I mean, I don't think superhero fatigue is the thing, but maybe we're at a point now. where it's just going to be the Spider-Man's, the Batman's,
Starting point is 00:13:36 the massive doomsdays of the world that get people into theaters. Unless you're making it for smaller budgets. That's what saying. Yeah, like, but a Supergirl, how do you make that for $40 million? I don't know. Right. It was on this. The money was on the screen.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Like, I thought the world's, the facts, the creatures. I think all that stuff looked good. Supergirl should have been an HBO Mac show. Supergirl should have been, you could have stretched out the woman of tomorrow graphic novel kept. true to the story and you could have made that a six-part miniseries and you would have not lost any quality and you probably would have gotten a lot of people raving about it because of the because of the actually true to it going to a movie i think was was little old school mentality trying to get some
Starting point is 00:14:18 more people in there and the and this is the thing and i stand by this topic is that and i had this conversation so i went and saw minions with my 14-year-old yesterday and we went out to dinner afterwards and i said you know supergirls kind of market and geared towards her um I said, maybe you have any interest in Supergirls? Like, nah, I want to see Backrooms. I want to see Obsession. She had no interest in Supergirl. And I said to my wife, I was like,
Starting point is 00:14:40 do you have any interest in seeing Supergirl? She's like, there's a Supergirl movie out? This is today, by the way. Yeah. My husband email is a Supergirl movie out. She was, who's in it? And I said, oh, the girl from House to the Dragon. So I don't watch that show.
Starting point is 00:14:51 It's like, oh, and she was in some other show that she watched. So she asked for Star Power, none. And then she asked for what the trailers were she didn't see anything. So the marketing wasn't good. And then the other side of it was this. This is the point I made yesterday was that it is ignorant to say that women don't like comic book movies and that people, that women don't go to see these movies. That's not true because a significant amount of people, women saw, whether it was Infinity War, End Games, Civil War. Yeah, but you're, you're, come on, you're, you're, you're bringing it from eight.
Starting point is 00:15:25 You don't even know my point. What's my point? What's my point? I'm just going to listen. Your point. Okay. So women will go and see these movies. Women will go and see them for sure. The superhero brand in general, comic movie brand, is predominantly meant a lot of it. As far as who they're marketed towards, right? It usually is. So when you market towards both, you got a shot to do well. When you just market on women, you really have to have the right, the right. tools to get them into the theater because if you're because a lot of men did not really it wasn't
Starting point is 00:16:06 marketed even last week which general was like this was marketed towards towards women women didn't show up for this movie and that's a problem women showed up for Barbie women showed up for movies that are geared towards them they did not show up for this movie and men didn't either that's the problem okay but like I mean you're using movies from 10 years ago like I'm just talking about the we're not in But the MCU of that period, that was different. Like, if you had asked your daughter or wife to see Thunderbolts, I'm sure your wife would have gone,
Starting point is 00:16:39 who the hell's in Thunderbolts? Like, she watched Thunderbolts, right? But yes, 100%. It wasn't marketed towards her. Right, but you got backrooms and, but the movie was a probably female-led cast. That was a-10, but it wasn't marketed towards women. This was.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Okay. What's a superhero movie that was marketed towards women? right you know the last one that I think that was marketed even he was market versus DC was Wonder Woman but still you could make the argument Wonder Woman I'm not going to argue against you in that but also we run into the broader topic and I know Roka as a big proponent of this he kind of fights back about it but and rightfully so where when you see people that say we want more Latin led films but then the Latin audience doesn't show up for it
Starting point is 00:17:22 but that people like well why should we be the ones that have to support these films it should be everybody I'm like well the white dudes of the world have their super hero films and they're always going to have their Spider-Man's and their Batman's. You will. And I get what you're saying. So I'm not arguing against you. It's tough. You know, we sat there after we got done, Shane and I.
Starting point is 00:17:42 We were like, it was okay. And we'd go, and we said, you know who would really love this Emmy, which is our friend's daughter. She's like, she's not old enough yet. She's nine. But a young girl watching this movie, I think, would get a lot out of it. Where actually I did love about it was the fact that they didn't make her all pretty all the time. She wasn't, they let her be, and that's what she had said in early interviews,
Starting point is 00:18:02 and she got shit on for it. Like, they let me be, I'm messy. Girl, women are messy. They make mistakes. And I thought that was actually pretty cool. But again, you got $180 million on that message. And you spent, I mean, well, it wouldn't even work. I always say if they would have made it for $80 million, it would have still tanked. So, I don't know. I'm, I'm, luckily, I don't deal with that kind of stuff. I just get to show up and say, I like it or I didn't. But totally. Yeah. It's just, it's just, it's just curious, like, how. the strategy should go and I think that now
Starting point is 00:18:31 this is this is I don't have that rap article because I'm not paying for a subscription I'll tell you that right now I'll tell you that right now I hate that stupid right now you write that whole article it's like yeah pay a hundred bucks for the year how you scratch my ball bag and talk about it on Wednesday this is stupid DC Studios next
Starting point is 00:18:54 big villain movie Deathstroke and Bain reportedly moves moves the priority list dc studios appears to be moving forward with one of its darkest and most violent projects yet a movie centered on two of dc comics most dangerous villains bain and death stroke so it's okay it's a movie together is reportedly being a bigger priority for the studio as the new dc universe continues to take shape the idea of bringing dain and dsroke together was first revealed in 2024 when dc announced that a team up movie featuring the two was in development project immediately caught the attention of fans because both villains are known for their brutal
Starting point is 00:19:28 history is major threats as heroes like Batman. All right. So here's my question then. Okay. I'm not opposed to this movie yet if they are taking the same route they are taking with Clayface. Is this a $40 million movie? If it's a $40 million, you know, lower budget movie that they're going to focus in on the character-driven story between the two. Summer's coming around.
Starting point is 00:19:54 I like taking long walks with the family. there's a lot going on with camps with my family, tons of stuff, which try to stay active during the summer especially. So whether you are on the go, staying hydrated, it really is a key to enjoying all the extra sunshine. That's where liquid IV comes in, man. I always have a packet for me.
Starting point is 00:20:13 I have a packet from me when I go to the gym. And especially when we did this big barbecue the other day, the dad, it was getting hot outside. It's just amazing. I like the cotton candy side of it. I like the orange vanilla dream. And it's just refreshing. I really dig it.
Starting point is 00:20:29 So just one stick, 16 ounces of water hydrates faster than water alone. It's got an optimized ratio of electrolytes. It's got essential vitamins and clinically tested nutrients that turn ordinary water into extraordinary hydration. Now when you compare it to water, liquid IV delivers long-lasting hydration, and it retains hydration. We're up to four hours. That's the thing I love about it the most.

Starting point is 00:21:20 I've been talking about them forever. Give it a shot. You will enjoy it. will feel better. Liquid IV. It's the bomb. Okay, great. Sign me up. Let's go for it. Let's try to do something else. If you're going for a hundred, 150 million dollar movie, stupid. Villain movies in general are hard to do on, if it's not on TV. This is a stupid move. If it's anything under $70 million, really stupid. Yeah, I'm with you. I don't, I mean, I like those villains. He likes him too. But yeah, I don't get
Starting point is 00:21:55 I don't. I don't know, man. I don't. But if you're making it for, you know, you're making, you know, Bain and Deathstroke and it's going to be like the Furious. And you've got this massive action. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:08 $40 million. Then it's smart. If they can find that key. Like, again, I heard with Clayface, I heard he doesn't fully transform in the movie, which saves money. But I don't know if it would fit for that tone. I think eventually it would work when they show it up. So it'll work.
Starting point is 00:22:25 But again, you got to, I mean, I don't understand budgets as it is. I don't understand $180 million for Supergirl. I don't get where that went. Imagine she's making $400,000. She made $400,000. I'm like, who? Where did this money go? Like, imagine they would put Star Power in that movie.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Like, the movie would have been $250 million. I don't understand where it. Yeah, I don't. Because it's too big. The movie's too big. There's too much going on. I don't know what people are saying in the trailer for Doomsday. It's like $400 million.
Starting point is 00:22:54 but I'm like I kind of get that. Donnie Jr's got like a hundred million of it. It's also got a built in. It's got a building. Everyone's got an effect that they have to do. But Bain and Deadshot, you know, two more or less humans. Just give me, if that to me, if it was like, okay, this looks, and I know I use this reference often and I'm sorry to be the dead horse at this point, but A24 type style
Starting point is 00:23:20 movie. If they showed that and that's what Bain and Deathstroke is. And it looks like something that, you know, just was made for like nothing. And, but it was really diving into the psyche of these two. That to me, I'm like, okay. Like, that's what, that's why I'm, I'm more excited about Clayface than I was after seeing the first trailer of Superman. And Superman is my favorite super, super hero. Um, it's just it, I like different.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And that's what gun, I get you. It hasn't been different yet. Supergoble is not. different. And so if they can make it different, then okay, then I get the strategy. But again, anything over $80 million for this movie is silly. But it also goes to ask the question, does Ellison just say, listen, this death stroke thing that you guys are doing, we're not doing that a paramount. It was developed at Warner Brothers when you guys were, you know, doing your thing. but now that you guys are over here now, that's not happening.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Focus on Wonder Woman, focus on Batman, focus on Aquaman, please and thank you, or we'll find somebody else to do it. Yeah, I think, I think maybe the era, well, I don't know. I don't know what they're, that article Stafford had said that they talk with Ellison when the thought is he likes what we're doing. He sees our plan that we've got for the eight to ten years. And they were pushing along.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Now, I don't know if that still holds up now. You know, again, that could be a, the price tag with this is a Warner Brothers thing. This isn't a Paramount. Paramount, it's not losing any money. Right. So it's not Paramount's dollar. It'll be interesting to see, let's say the deal goes through.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Yeah. And let's say they keep the deal in place. Like what will be the first Paramount DC film? Like what was their money involved? Yeah. Well, that's, you know, you say they're not losing money, right? Which technically they're not. But think about it.
Starting point is 00:25:18 If you buy something before, and you're excited again, get it. Yeah. And then let's say your brand new car. Is you, you're buying, are you buying a car from somebody who's, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:28 they've used it a couple times, but it's in pretty good condition. Yeah. But right when you buy it before it's really yours, they start grinding the shit out of it and smash in the back and, of the bumper and you're losing value on the car. And then you get it. You're like,
Starting point is 00:25:43 you're going to build this thing back up again. I got to, I got to do repairs now. I say, you see that fucking, you see that fucking flat tire? fix that fucking thing before you give it to me. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:53 That's what I said. And you're going to pay for it. Flat tire with a Teen Titans movie. I mean, I know. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:03 I, but I think the shift has already, it happened, like, Wonder Woman wasn't going to be planned for a while. And now that's kind of full bore. Like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:11 I got rid of the series. Corona. What's named Adriya? Adria. Arona. I think she's one woman. I think she is. If she isn't,
Starting point is 00:26:20 she's, should be now. Yeah. I was talking to some friends like if if she is if she's that maxima character it's wasted because that maximuma character will be like the engineer in Superman like a part of the movie but not maybe she pops up again in a couple different things but it's like let's get another obscure character and put her into the into the zeitys and everybody to like her it's like you can't do that right now James you can't do that and he just he's well no I think I think I think the engineer served her purpose in the film I think yeah if we never see her again after these Superman movies, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:26:53 I think she served the purpose, but like someone like, I didn't even remember who the end. Adria, she's just like she is this up and coming, she is the next big thing. So you don't sidetrack her with a villain that might pop up in another Superman film somewhere. You just don't. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I mean, we'll see. Teen Titans is a fan base. They have fan base, sure, but it's not enough to cross it. That's D.C. has a fan base. It's not enough. That's not enough. Teen Titans having a fan base. having a fan base.
Starting point is 00:27:21 It doesn't, but the question again, peeled it. You think they have enough of a fan base to make a $150 million movie? No, they don't. They do not.
Starting point is 00:27:30 They do not. And that is why you cannot, you cannot mess around right now if you want to continue on. Maybe you're James Gunn. You go, listen, do a Bain movie, do this.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I don't care. He makes money or not. I'm going to make the movie I want. And then I'm out. My contracts, my contracts come in. I'm going to make the movies. Because that's a very,
Starting point is 00:27:45 very possible scenario. He's like he knows he's not going to be, here he doesn't give a shit if it makes money as long as he's you know what i'm going to make two good movies moving for him i make the bain movie i'll make the team titans movie and then let them figure it out those are the movies i want to make i'm out i don't see that i don't see either possible sure i i don't i think if he was to leave let's say he let's say he doesn't like the leadership there i'm not talking i'm talking outside of the realm of entertainment where you there was that talking he doesn't like a point i got to make a point here
Starting point is 00:28:20 someone said someone said i disagree the teen titans go to the movies uh was successful it cost 10 million dollars to make it of course it was successful it course 10 million dollars to make how can you disagree with that if it 10 okay i disagree that movie did well yeah they made it for 13 dollars and a bag of chips so of course it did well if you make a movie a a big budget movie For $10 million, you're going to make your money back. But if they make it for $150, they're not making their money back. I have no argument. I'm not going to.
Starting point is 00:29:01 No, it wasn't you that said. Is someone the- No, I know. I know. I know you're saying. I want to see how much it made in the box office overall. Team Titans goes, team Titans goes to the movies. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:11 I remember they made a big push at Comic-Con. I think I saw, Roxie. I saw like, we got into divided like two or three screenings of that. And I enjoyed it. But I mean, $52 million. I mean, $52 million. it did it did good but it made 10 million dollar budget marketing was probably five six it made like 30 million dollars which is good but it's on the 10 million dollar budget guys
Starting point is 00:29:32 yeah so that's 52 it's definitely a hit and there were people that went to see it but that's the point you make it i mean you guys just prove the point and pldee that i would you wait a little if it's popular you make a movie of teen titans go to the movies and you make 52 million dollars on a 10 million dollar budget win making that on a hundred I would love to see like a like a billionaire just go okay I'm going to take three filmmakers four filmmakers I'm going to give you guys ten million dollars and I'm going to give you the character of Batman and you each get to make your movie and see what you guys can do I would love to see that say that again you got you got a billionaire he's got money to blow he's got fuck you money he's like all right five filmmakers
Starting point is 00:30:20 working today. You could be, I don't care if you're Scorsese or you're some random guy that's on YouTube. I'm going to give you a $10 million budget. Pitch me your Batman movie. And I'm going to make, I'm going to let all five of you make them. Are you five directors? And we're going to pick the best and to see what could be made for $10 million with the director that, you know. 10 million. I mean, 10 million. I'm just saying, in the, in the, but it's up to the filmmaker. It's up to the filmmaker to get the resources where he gets them with the actors. Like, because I say like this in the superhero world
Starting point is 00:30:51 you don't spend your money on your actors like you don't try and woo no you don't need to I don't mind the strategy of what I said this yesterday too what Gunn is doing with basically the same thing you do with corn sweat right
Starting point is 00:31:04 but the difference in Superman is enough of an IP and enough of a name that you can put you put someone in like Nicholas Holt who's you know he's he's a name but not not so like you're not getting Nicholson
Starting point is 00:31:17 for the Joker to go. But even you did that with like a villain or something, fine. But Supergirl had none of that. Supergirl had none of that. And Supergirl isn't a big enough IP. It needs a little power. And I'm usually, you know, I'm with you. I don't think, I don't necessarily think Millie Alcock needed to be a movie or Super Bowl
Starting point is 00:31:38 needed to be a movie. She was great. She was great. I liked her too. I loved her. Me too. I thought she was perfect. But I thought maybe, and I, apparently a lot of A-lister's turned down the role
Starting point is 00:31:47 of Krem. but I don't know to it. There's nothing to it. If they would have, let me, I'll say this and we can, you know, I can say this.
Starting point is 00:31:55 If they would have really leaned into the fact that this guy was like a fucking Epstein type trafficking children. And that what he was in the novel? I don't really, I don't remember too much. I read it once last year. But like if you would have really leaned into that trafficking angle and really made him this piece of shit, like it would have been something. There would have been something to the villain.
Starting point is 00:32:16 He, there was nothing. He was like, Is that pie? You want, I eat pie? And he's like dangling the pie. I'm like, that is the biggest thing for me was, I'm a dog. Even though M-Lade and Cullen decided, I think he was being a fucking,
Starting point is 00:32:28 maybe you were you being a turd on the hot mic? I can't remember. But no, no, no, no, the M-Laden, he said, so, Moa's not famous. Okay, yeah, Mamoa, Mamo is a name. Their point was taken. Mamoa is a name for sure. And, but he was there to just drive. basically what we're talking about, right?
Starting point is 00:32:49 He was there for the famous face to get dudes in the theater and it didn't work. Lovo was not in the comic. So he's not in the story. He's not in the comic. No. Oh, yeah. He was just there for the marking. So yeah, point tape.
Starting point is 00:33:04 He was the name and it didn't even work. No. Yeah. I mean, I think MoMA is loved and beloved, but I don't think he's a box office draw. I don't, I don't think he is. It's hard to be. I mean, I get, I know, I know, I know, Aquaman made a billion dollars.
Starting point is 00:33:21 I don't know. Who is, who's, who's, as I know, what I'm saying, like, I think the studio's part of them, and maybe Gunn hopefully doesn't view that. It's like, so I mean, I guess you can doze somebody else, sorry.
Starting point is 00:33:32 Actors don't drive the gate anymore. Like, I mean, I mean, one example. And again, I'll get shipped for this, but like,
Starting point is 00:33:41 let's say they did John Stewart's Greenlander. They never had Hal Jordan, and they're telling his story. And then, in the movie they get Tom Cruise to cameo as Hal Jordan. Yeah, that drives your box office. You're getting more people in the seats to see that. But that's, that's an old school.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Yeah. I mean, I thought he was great in the role, but Shannon was like, well, it's Moa being Moa, who she has no idea about Lobo. She was just like,
Starting point is 00:34:06 oh, it's Mo Mo Mova being. He's perfect for the role, but he was perfect for the role. And the problem was he didn't do that first in his career. He did Aquaman first. Right. Well, look, here's the other side of this, too, which is why we keep having these conversations, because Supergirl is going to lose Warner Brothers, about $100 million is what the new report is saying.
Starting point is 00:34:28 That's, yeah, that's oof. It's only been out for one weekend, but already the post-mortar reports for the Supergirl film have begun. The film's opening has been seen as a misfire, 38 million in North America, 68 million globally in its opening weekend. Variety indicates that the film is currently rejected to finish its theatrical run with a gross of a 100 million, domestically. That's crazy. And 210 globally, it would require a decent hole to hit those numbers. If it does, the trade alleges that the film would lose the studio around 100 to 120 million theatrically. A source familiar with the financials claims that the losses are closer to 80 to 85 million at that amount. If it goes below 200, the write down will be bigger. Trade says that the studio cost
Starting point is 00:35:07 comes in at 170 to produce and around 120 million to market. That's higher than previous reports. But sources Continue to stress that the film's break-even number is around 300 and acknowledge it is a much lower one than most films of this size. How is it that low? They say because the film's cast and creatives don't have back-end deals. So no one is getting first dollar grosses. Even Maliancock who plays the title role got paid around 400K for her work. Continues a bad run for Warner Brothers following the bomb, the bride, and only modest performers like Wuthering Heights and Mortal Kombat 2. Far cry from their stellar 2025 run.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Hold my beer says Dune 2. or June 3 rather. So, you know, it's, yeah, look, it's not good. It's not good. I love. Did you see there with Saffron came out and just said, yeah, not happy with it. It wasn't what we wanted. So I like, I like that.
Starting point is 00:36:04 They got out and people are like, oh, he's damaged control. And like, nobody is going to do. That's damage control. That's being out. He came out and said, hey, man, basically saying that sucks. We didn't want that. Yeah. We're moving on.
Starting point is 00:36:14 We move on. So I thought that was great. And it wasn't God that came on. I like him. I like the answer better than guns. I like his answers better than guns. I think I think Saffron, and I think that's why there's such a good duo, is Saffron is this guy. He's the business guy that handles the PR.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Gun, I think, shoots a little more from the heart. Like when he talks, he's a performer. He's the director. He's got that, like, you know, it's kind of like me in a situation. Like, let's say you and I. I shoot a lot more from my emotions. And you are, you've got the business. business aspect. You're always thinking of the bigger picture where I'm just, you know, and,
Starting point is 00:36:51 and I think that's why Saffron handles that kind of stuff. Yeah, I just think that, you know, maybe that, that, I think that strategy needs to change too with how Gunn presents himself on social media. Like, I don't think he did himself any, any favors. I think that when he's not, he's not a director, just a director anymore. He runs the whole shop. And, I mean, you're not, you're not wrong. I mean, but again, he was never that guy to begin with. in the sense that he was never a Kathleen Kennedy. No, he never was. He was the guy that used to be talking about his movies and a director.
Starting point is 00:37:23 I mean, before you make it, you want anyone to listen to what you're going to say about your film. And so now he's at a point where everyone is listening to what he says about everything. So it's like, you know, but that's who he is as a person, man. The admirable thing about the intent of what he does is that he wants to show that he will give access to everybody. and be available to everybody. It's admirable.
Starting point is 00:37:49 But the problem is that there's just too many people on the internet. And there's too many things. Yeah, you're right, man, I get it. And you can't, like, just focus in on the goal, which is make your movies, go to your vision. People don't agree with you. So what? Someone reports on a casting rumor that's not true. Who cares?
Starting point is 00:38:10 Like, you know, don't get involved. Don't say, that's not true. That person is go out in your basement. It's like, what are you doing? Stop. You're the free, you run the studio. You can't do that. I got one foot in one camp, one foot in the other with that.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Right, because you like to see people play a punch in the mouth. But it's like, but I do. You bet your ass. I love it. And get an enforcer to do that. Now, if you're the guy, then have an enforcer. They should hire them. Didn't come from gun himself.
Starting point is 00:38:40 I don't believe it. I talked to gun yesterday. He says this isn't true. Well, blah, what? Gun, what do you say? silence. Stay silent, James Gunn. Stay silent. You don't mean, you can't win because the problem is if you start pissing people off, then this is the same thing I've said about the, the, if you go, if you, if you're playing in the in the business of a hundred million dollars to
Starting point is 00:39:00 200 million to 300 million dollars movies, you don't have to agree with everybody. You can, you can totally disagree and hate every aspect of someone's opinion that you see on the internet politically, whatever it might be. Those people are still going to come to your movies and you got to get them on your page you have to there's going to be people who're just going to hate your shit no matter what but you got to get people on the same page and not poke the bear if you're making those kind of movies bend the knee you're not bend the knee you're making fucking movies yeah but i don't think those people are going to change their they're going to always pay to see the movie all these assholes got there like screenshots ready to make fun of millie
Starting point is 00:39:39 alcock they're going to the movie one thousand percent one thousand percent but those people Those people, they talk to an audience and all of their audience aren't the same type of, you know, I know, man. I know, man. But they still listen and go, you know what? And it subconsciously goes in there. And if they're getting millions of views, it's still talking to a certain audience. And even look at the thing of the, which is completely blown out of proportion and wrong, where they said, even people in this chat yesterday were talking about Amelia Alcock saying, she doesn't want Christians. dad's to see her movies.
Starting point is 00:40:17 That's not what she said. It was taken out of context and what she said was, again, which was, I go on and I see this comment and then I look at the profile and I see Christian dad. That's not the type of person I want to see my movies. Now, you read that going, what?
Starting point is 00:40:36 She doesn't want Christians? She's talking about the type of person, the irony behind it. However, because of the media training, other things that weren't said, it's taken out of proportion. And because of that, even if it was inaccurate, that is pushed out to people. And if you don't hear what it is,
Starting point is 00:40:53 and you've done this before, you've seen things on Twitter from somebody on the other side that have said something, and you go, yeah, you know what? They said this. And you're like, that's not what they said, though. And then you don't like that person anymore
Starting point is 00:41:06 or you say something bad about them. And it's a trickle effect. And it's why I hate social media so much because you'd see one little article, one little thing and people just take it as fact and maybe that had a portion of why people didn't see this movie on a particular sign. Maybe, maybe, but I mean,
Starting point is 00:41:21 will we know? I don't know. Yeah, so either way. All right, this story isn't changing. It's not ending. It's going to be a lot of stuff. So put your thoughts in there what you're thinking. In the meantime, I'm going to tell you guys about liquid IV and we'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:41:38 I do love liquid IV. This morning. It's amazing. Hopefully you guys support. in the show getting yourself something good check it out um all right mike so roka had a hell of a day yes sir rocca had like 125 questions um right now you got 27 which is good roca had just around before we went to questions i think roca had like 50 or 60 so you got a shot matters doesn't matter doesn't matter well you know last last week i thought i had it last week i thought we had a big number
Starting point is 00:42:06 of questions big donations i thought i'm in and then i was like fourth i don't i can't plan it anymore No, I kind of love that now. There's nothing I can do. It's unpredictable. Say, hey, I'll do this joke. I'll do this. So I can't. It's way more unpredictable now than it was.
Starting point is 00:42:21 And I love it because you don't know who's going to win kind of going into it. And so yesterday. I haven't won in two months. Is that true? You haven't one in two months? Wow. Two months. I think I'm the only person that hasn't.
Starting point is 00:42:32 But again, it's out of my control. You're not one with the new system? No. Oh, wow. Okay. Because Kristen Winston is funny. I understand the system behind it. and it's just the way that it falls
Starting point is 00:42:44 with whatnot. And there's nothing I can't win. It's fucking right. I didn't do that. Where do you do? Did you see? Someone asked that question, so I'll leave it as a super chat.
Starting point is 00:42:56 And if I don't win ever again, I'm never going to do the fucking donkey again. How about that? I'll take my toys and go home. Oh, you will? You think so? I won't do my. I won't do my.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Hey. Thanks for things that record. Yeah. How about that? I love that. Yeah. All right. Walker told me I had AIDS.
Starting point is 00:43:20 That's unfortunate. Okay. So let's, oh, the other thing, there's a couple things I want to actually bring up. Do we still have the picture? Speaking to Jen Sturger, me, Ellis, can we put that link in there? Peelty, if it's not in there already, too. It might already be in there. On October 8th, myself, Jen Sturger, Mark Ellis,
Starting point is 00:43:40 we're doing a stand-up comedy show together that is in the brokerage in Belmore. make sure that you guys get your tickets now because I'm already apparently it's like halfway gone already so these tickets will sell out and I'd love to see you guys there if you're able to make sure you come and check it out okay and then anything else that I had is there I'm not sure what else there was oh today's oh I don't have today's thumbnail but we were blasted through season two of the ultimate schmodeum and season three is right around a corner you'll see you will see the debut of Mike Kalinowski in season three I don't wonder why I never because we were we were still we were talking in
Starting point is 00:44:23 you were you were in 2015 you were in you were in L.A. We didn't really start talking until I started doing like DC movie news when you put me in touch with Roxy but that was like Twitter wasn't big so I wasn't really on Twitter I was on I was talking enough where it was just talking Like, how's it going? How's, how you did? Just that.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Right, right. Because you didn't have the, the Schmo Down wasn't going. It wasn't like, and you never came on to Schmo's No back then. No, I was never. DC was the first show I ever went on. Funny. Well, this one, this was round two of the ultimate showdown. Who's the, is that Mary?
Starting point is 00:45:04 That's Maria and Sasha. Sasha, Proul Raber? Yeah. So they were, they were pre-me. Yeah, they were round two. They were round two. They had a big upset against, well, big comeback, rather, against, it was Mike Black and Ken Napsock in round one. And they placed us in round two.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Okay. So let's see. We've got some other stories. We'll dive into it. And let's say if there's anything else that are. I don't really, okay. You know what? Slow?
Starting point is 00:45:35 No, we'll go back to some DC stuff because you mentioned it earlier. And we should talk about this because I think it's going to be pretty relevant. I just wonder if the if the stubbornness is going to overtake DC but we'll see there's an update now about AJ Arona as Wonder Woman the rumor resurfaces DCU Batman source backtracks let's see so let's start here another source is claiming to have it on good authority that Asia Arona is indeed playing Wonder Woman in James Gunn's manna tomorrow while the source of the recent Batman rumor has shared an update whoever arhona ends up playing in Manit Tomorrow. She has gotten to serious superhero shape for the movie. The Onslaught Star has taken to Instagram to share a photo highlighting the results of her workouts or personal trainer. Paulo Mosquite. This is, come on, that's Maximus shape.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Come on. Come on. Come on. Oh, I just saw that picture online. Yeah. She's not. I mean, but you and I were both in the first couple episodes and or we were like, this is a star. She's a superstar.
Starting point is 00:46:40 I do it. I noticed her as a star. when I saw that stupid Morbius. The fact that anybody... Was she in that? She was in that? And I was like... I didn't see that. She was in it. And I said, the movie was terrible.
Starting point is 00:46:51 That was the first time I ever really knew who she was. And I said, who is that? She's good. The movie's terrible, but she was good. Earlier this year, Adjaroana landed a key role in Mannaetamara after testing for the part alongside Iba Di Diminchi, Sidney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten. The character, these actresses were up for,
Starting point is 00:47:11 was said to be maximum, but many fans are convinced that Arona has actually been cast as Wonder Woman. Gunn has yet to weigh in on the matter, but the trades seem to be split on whether Arona is playing the, what is that, is the, Amelar, Amel Resean villain, or if this is simply an attempt to keep the identity of her real character under wraps. Now, YouTuber Yada Rain is claiming that Arona is definitely playing Diana. Wayne clarifies that she is not a scruper, but knows the Adrian thing because of her friend.
Starting point is 00:47:38 I got lucky with a person near the process that I know. others have weighed in support Wayne, but this obviously shouldn't be taken as anything close to confirmation that Arona will be DCU's Wunderlander. Arona is clearly a very popular fan play, Diana, but we're not sure why Gunn wouldn't just announce this casting outright as it would drum up a lot of excitement for Manna Tomorrow and the future of the DCU in general.
Starting point is 00:48:00 And Me Gun didn't really deem it necessary to generate buzz at the cost of ruining the surprise at the time, but a lot of people believe that the recent Batman rumor that did the rounds online was deliberately circulated to distract from Supergirl's disastrous box office debut. Whatever the case may be, the source, John Campa now seems to be backtracking. We see this a lot with the insiders with large followings
Starting point is 00:48:19 who act surprised when something they say is aggregated. Let's be clear. Campia didn't just offhandedly mention that he might know who the new Batman is before moving on. He specifically noted that multiple well-placed sources have told him the same actor's name. Anyway, let's see. They're taking shots, John.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Uh-huh, blah-b-b-da-ba-ba-da. And then. and then we don't know about the timing of the project since frankly with all this debacle who knows what happened with the script yeah yeah yada there's more okay so the the ajor arona aspect of it again same thing well but this is but this is the thing that that i find to be people do this kind of shit right which is they laugh off this type of stuff all the time you shouldn't now i don't know this girl i don't know this girl i don't know this girl i i hate that that aspect of the stereotyping YouTubers so don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:13 I can tell you for a fact that when I was Schmo's and Clyder, I used to hear shit from people inside of the business and things that happen in movies all of the time and things who are working all the time. And I was a YouTuber. There are many YouTubers that I know that know people from things and people that are influencers or everything to know people who know things.
Starting point is 00:49:35 They know things. The people who are working. It's a big business. This is another reason why they shouldn't hold this secret for much longer because it's going to continue to get leaked. I think they're probably waiting until Comic-Con. And I understand the strategy, but I don't think you wait any more past that. What do you think? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:59 I mean, they didn't, like, Corn Sweat was in the running, and he was one of the three or four, but Gunn was very open all the time. Like, these are the four that we're looking at. These are the testing we're doing. but he didn't get leaked that he was it. It was, they announced it on their terms. So I'm like,
Starting point is 00:50:15 you know, I have a different mindset of this and we can, you know, but people could say, I know who it is, I know what it is, but they don't say it. And then it doesn't happen.
Starting point is 00:50:25 And then it's just like, well, I didn't say it. So I get it. It's a game. It's a game. And to be fair to John on that one, to be fair to John on that one,
Starting point is 00:50:34 he was, I looked at the clip. But what, what did he say he's backtracking now? Someone asked, someone asked him, someone asked him on a super chat about Batman. And he said he heard, and he said what he heard. He wasn't a main topic. It wasn't something he led with.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Someone asked a question about, hey, this. And he's like, well, you know, I've heard these things. And it got picked up. But here's the thing. Like, Campi is a big enough name that dominated the news cycle for an entire day. Hundreds of thousands of views on that. You know what that shows? You got to be careful.
Starting point is 00:51:06 You got to be careful. It shows how hungry people are from Batman. It shows how hungry people are. Of course. It's Batman. It's Spider-Man. It's, they're evergreen superheroes.
Starting point is 00:51:14 It shows what's going on. It can mess around with Deathstroke and Bain right now. You do a freaking Batman movie or Wonder Woman movie. But not, not, I'm not defending the, the Destrook Bain of it all. But they did it before with Clayface.
Starting point is 00:51:28 We don't have a Batman and they're doing a Clayface. And that's, all the buzz is going for it. I don't know. I'm not defending it. 40 million dollar movie, dude. It's a $40 million movie. I'm not defending.
Starting point is 00:51:38 that decision at all. I don't want to see. I love Batman more than I love the villains. So I want a Batman. But it's like, yeah, but it's like again, it's going back to our previous conversation. I am going to take back all my comments that I made three minutes ago to shit, two minutes ago.
Starting point is 00:51:57 If the Deathstroke Bain movie is a $40 million movie, then I'm going to say, good, good job. Go do it. That's smart. That's almost a guaranteed success. If they make it that kind of, a money at a $40, 50 million a smaller kind of cooler movie like that, that'd be great. But if they're making Supergirl for 170, you know, then you're like, what the fuck are you guys doing?
Starting point is 00:52:19 I think they need to get, and maybe it's the same ballpark. And again, it was a modest success. I don't like the Mortal Kombat too. It was only made for $80 million. I think made like $125. Right. But it looked good. It looked like a, you had special effects.
Starting point is 00:52:36 You had action. So, I mean, you got a very big cast in that too. I mean, no one's making more than, you know, six, 700 million, 600,000. Urban probably made half a million for that. Sure. But you can do it. Get a lesser no names. And, I mean, you can make a $40 million ban on a Destrook movie.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Absolutely. You just got to find a way to keep that shit in check. Yeah. There is new casting rumor for Batman, or just saw it on. This is the newest who it is? Yeah, apparently is Paul Gianmani. Motherfucking Batman! They got it.
Starting point is 00:53:16 But I wonder, who is Batman? I wish I knew. George. All right, let's move on. Let's see if there's anything else to talk about before we move on to the questions. I think that there's some other stories that have kind of come out. One Piece, One Piece is finished filming. That's good.
Starting point is 00:53:36 No one else is really on this show. even watches except me. I love that show. Can't wait for season three. Although season two, my reactions didn't do even a fraction as well as the season one did, which is interesting because I had one piece? Yeah, when I had, I think I had like 40,000 subscribers at the time. I did one piece season one that did significantly better than season two.
Starting point is 00:54:01 But I'm still going to do season three. I really like to show a lot. Anything else? Oh, Batman, Black Panther 3 and more, for more talk. We'll bring this up. I will say that tomorrow. Oh, yeah, you know, I should bring this up because Roxy was Roxy. Roxy was supposed to do this week's show, but she texted me last week, and she said,
Starting point is 00:54:21 she's got a lot going on right now. And so I think we're going to try to get Roxy in three times in July. So that's why Roxy couldn't have been on, but that's, but we've been coordinating and trying to get her on at least three times in July. tomorrow Smets can be on because he's just consumed with work so I was I was considering at one point not doing the show and just catching up on some other stuff but my writing partner Martini Peratori who wrote the pilot with me is actually going to I want to introduce her to the audience tomorrow so she's going to be on the show tomorrow and we're going to do show we're going to talk about the pilot we're talking about updates and things that are happening as we're kind of moving forward to it so I want to introduce everybody to her so she's going to be on the show tomorrow Thursday it'll be Chris Carr Friday be Winston and then yeah so we got and then I'm hoping to tape the obsession reaction with Sam tonight
Starting point is 00:55:11 that's the goal and then by tomorrow the movie reaction should be up because I haven't seen it yet are you going to see it? What? The movie obsession? Yeah. Probably not.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Not really my wheelhouse of what I like. Yeah. I mean but I do get caught up in the fact that these are these movies like backrooms I definitely will not see that is not my thing at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:33 Um, but obsession. I like to kind of, you know, if something that much catches interest, like, okay, that'd be so I'll catch it home. Yeah. Yeah. Um, okay. So let's see. If there's anything else, let me feel.
Starting point is 00:55:47 Oh, yeah, let's do this news. We'll do this. No, we'll move on. All right. There's some Batman rumors. This is probably the same thing we just talked about. Black Panther and Morse Giro talk. It's been a surprisingly busy day for big rumors.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Uh, you can't be a claim that. James Gunn's DCU has cast its Batman with an actor on board while ahead of the plan, Brave and the Bold Movie. Campi says it's not a name I would have guessed, but he verified it with several well-positioned sources. In the wake of that, Tom Brittany's name began to circulate on social media. Let me see. Let me see if this is the guy. Did I hear this guy?
Starting point is 00:56:23 Let me see if this is the guy that I heard. I heard a few different names. When after sniffing around, not from anybody that definitely don't source me. Because who the hell knows how accurate it is or isn't. But the one, let's see if, if I can say this, they'll seem one that I heard. I just went in one ear and out the other to me. Let's see. Yeah, when I hear stories like that, like casting bricks, I don't even, I'm like, okay, here we go again.
Starting point is 00:56:51 I heard some of the normal names that have been thrown around there, but then I heard one that I was like, I don't know who that person is. Then I looked up the person and I said, oh, okay. And it looks, it just depends. It also just depends on what they're looking for. Like, what are they looking for? Like, are they looking? I mean, I still don't see the brave and the bold. I don't think that's going to happen in that movie, but we'll see. If that name sounds familiar, it should be the Grandchester Star currently appearing in the Westies and the upcoming fall to Dead Point.
Starting point is 00:57:17 It was one of the three finalists. Oh, that's right. We talked about this yesterday for Guns Superman. So, yeah, we talked about all this. And so over the Cosmosis circus, they got an update on Marvel's Post Secret War Slate and claims that the priorities are Black Panther 3. That makes sense. Shung Chi 2. If Destin wants to do it, I think that would make sense.
Starting point is 00:57:37 sense you make him happy. Spider-Man 5, which also makes sense. X-Men, Thunderbolts 2. That's interesting. Blade, Midnight Suns, and Next Avengers, while Dr. Strange 3 has put on the Blackburner, on the back burner. The third Black Panther is expected to
Starting point is 00:57:53 put the focus on Chalas Sun. That I've definitely heard and be a coming-of-age story with a heavy emphasis on legacy. I reported on that actually kind of a while ago with the guy, the dude from F-1 going to be... Yeah. Dampson. Dampson and Dampson.
Starting point is 00:58:07 interest. Yeah, he's, he's, I think he's, well, from when I heard he's locked in. Um, so this is the interesting thing here. Mike, agree or disagree, right? So, priorities, Black Panther three. Yes. Right. Uh, okay. You don't think so. I mean, both movies have done really, really well. No, they've done. The first one is, yeah, that, I, I think that's, I think the second one. And again, I don't blame the second one on anyone's, issue than other than what happened in real life. I think after they set him up and put him in secret wars, this is a small movie. I tell you, so everything you just listed right there, I'll tell you what is alarming to me.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Okay. There's no fantastic foreplanned. Interesting. You're right. That is a, I heard that. I saw that list of what's, and I was like, that's crazy. Like they were supposed to be your leaders, them and the X-Men were going forward after Doomsday. That was the face of the.
Starting point is 00:59:07 MCU. You get Pedro Pascal in there. Like, that is a big, because he, it's like, oh, they're going to pop up in the Avengers. Like, no Fantastic Four? It's not even your, you're thinking as like, and you're doing Shang Chi, like, what? So. Fantastic Four to me. I agree with you that it's just a massive. Look, as much as I love Thunderbolts, the fact that they're going with Thunderbolts 2 over
Starting point is 00:59:33 Fantastic Four Two is interesting. If this is indeed accurate, right? So Black Panther 3 makes sense. Chungi makes sense to me if Destin wants to do it because you want to make him happy right now. But isn't he going to do Spider-Man 5 then? Probably going to do Spider-Man 5 as well. So who knows. So I think that a definite like movies you definitely should do, Black Panther 3, I think to me is a definite. Spider-Man 5 is a definite.
Starting point is 01:00:00 X-Men is a definite. Yeah. I think Blade is a definite. I don't I think Blade I think Stick him in one of those TV movies that you did with the Punisher
Starting point is 01:00:11 But I think you can do the same thing That we're just talking about with like Clayface Try to try to take a Do a smaller movie there Yeah you're right Five years ago when they announced in 2019 I think By the time
Starting point is 01:00:23 Listen hold on It froze for a second Let me tell you something pal Yeah By the time they get this blade out It'll be 10 years I guarantee since that announcement in 2019 10 years
Starting point is 01:00:34 I think you have to go away from Hirshall Lee at this point. I think you have to. But then you're stuck with a bad fucking taste in the mouth of people because he was perfect. He was perfect for that. But I think, make him Whistler. Isn't that his name? Whistler? Yeah, he was whistler.
Starting point is 01:00:49 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. All right. Well, curious what people think about all that stuff. Put your thoughts in there. Let us know.
Starting point is 01:00:57 All right, Mike, let's get into it. So let's see if you can beat Roke. You need some big donations here to take. He had a day yesterday. He had a big day. not going to lie to you. There's a really big day for Roka. I don't know necessarily what he generated that hasn't calculated yet, but for people who don't know, basically works as at the end. Each host gets an opportunity to get a bonus that they do get the most monetarily. They get the
Starting point is 01:01:18 bonus. Can, 6-721. Hello there. Hello there to you. Ron H. Case in point, going to see my mom and her residence to discuss her movie to Pelt of Care. I think she may be nearing out, so I'm dealing with it. I'm sorry, Ron. Ron, you threw a curveball, Ron. You're normally not like that. No. I was waiting for the fucking punchline, pal. I'm sorry, man. That's sorry, as well. But he's, you know, hey, but thank you for sharing that with us, Ron.
Starting point is 01:01:43 Appreciate it, and I hope she's okay. Sammy. Hey, hey, Mike, if Christian had made an InterGeekdom Teams League in the Snowdown, who would you have as a partner and why? Options are Smets, Inman, or Cushing? I know the answer to this. Cushing. Yeah, I knew you're going to say.
Starting point is 01:01:58 Because Smets and I were not partner, like we weren't, all of our, history was negative i would have loved to have partnered with smet's against like parker and changer that would have been fucking a blast yeah so i think you guys would have won yeah we're in ron age i think it would have come down to the speed round is really what i come down there ron h like elton john sings i'm still standing good ron there you go man happy choose the day all i've been having an amazing time driving me and all these cool people it helps dull the pain of the hurt that follows me around or the hurt i have to confront hey ron you if you need you need you
Starting point is 01:02:33 If you need to sound off on us today, I get it. Thank you for all the laughs for the distraction. I'm going to need them more than ever. Like they said in Rock, it's about how many times you get knocked down and stand back up. That's right. You got to do that. You have to.
Starting point is 01:02:45 You got to keep fighting. Thank you, Ron. Michael D. Mike, how's the Hemean figurine collection going? I just started this new. Did you get stink or? You need stink.
Starting point is 01:02:54 No, but I got this guy. Nice. This is like from the 2000s comic. I'm going to do this. Like, I saw this line at two, I saw this line at Comic Con last year. And it's like, I don't need another line.
Starting point is 01:03:03 but then after the fucking movie I'm like yep I want more he man so here we go uh Nathan Drake DC is casting a comedic actor for a gorilla Grod honestly what is going on over there maybe we can get Seth Rogen in this grot what a joke is he's not supposed to be comedic is he no no no I don't know what they're doing I have no idea about that show so I can't comment I'm not gonna I don't know I have no idea about that show gun gun like I'm telling you he he he he's one of these guys there's so many many people like this that he it's similar to the Ryan Johnson thing where Ryan Johnson liked saying you know what poked you love you don't like that and Gunn does that with the humor and it's like yeah you don't like my jokes I'm gonna I'm gonna put them up times a thousand and it's like I don't get it I don't get it when it comes to business I just don't understand it the big Gill studios the fact that Supergirl is feeling in DC goes it's okay hey you know that death stroke and Bain film yeah it's coming out now instead of doing their big hitters Wonderwin, Flash, Nightwing, Patman.
Starting point is 01:04:04 I'm 1,000% on your side, again, if it turns out they're doing $100 to $150 million, which I will say is probably what they're going to do, which is stupid. If they do it at a smaller budget like Clayface, I don't know how stupid it is. Well, here's the thing. Let me ask you this, because let's say they budget it, like, who's greenlighting the money for that? Is it gun? Right. Or is it WB?
Starting point is 01:04:32 well no no and if he's gonna ask for it and they're gonna give him the money what's up he doesn't green light money that's what's I'm saying so who's green light and he's like hey hey I want to go ask my mom for this you're out of your fucking mind mom's gonna lose your shit hey mom can I have this yeah here you go well got it like who's the problem that's that was my earlier point with like is azloph right now is going yeah sure you want to do a death stroke and bane movie sure go ahead you know you just got to get it done before we get the paramount and then you get the paramount and And Ellison goes, we're not doing a Bain and death stroke movie. No, we're not giving you money for that. Yeah, let's cut the down. Stop this. They're going to probably try to get it in production or get it moving before the contracts get signed.
Starting point is 01:05:15 You know? I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, if that happens. Nathan Drake, does Mike agree with Seth Rogan that Predator is better than every Stallone movie? And that Demolition Man is Stallone's best movie. Rogan is nuts. I like Seth.
Starting point is 01:05:27 His comment was fucking stupid. So stupid. It was four movies he's done. Get the hell out of it. here. It was the stupidest. It really was dumb. I like Seth Rogen a lot, but that was a dumb interview clip. Really dumb. He was too fucking high. He was
Starting point is 01:05:40 smoking that fucking funny grass. I would love to talk to him now and see all the backlash he's been getting from that. It's an icon. Here's the thing. You talk about, you talk, okay, Harle, if you talk about talking shit and you know, gun and whatnot, but like when you're, someone likes you
Starting point is 01:05:56 and you're well liked, but you go and say something against one of the icons, that interview is going to haunt. him. That is going to haunt him. And anytime he has a movie that fails, people are going to throw up a, well, save Mama from the train,
Starting point is 01:06:10 made more money than that piece of shit. 1,000%. That's Stallone, man. You don't go have to Stallone. Look, you can do that with Ike Barronholtz when you guys are smoking joints between takes at, for the studio. You don't do it on a podcast.
Starting point is 01:06:23 It's going to get clipped out. Roka made a great point. I think it's because Rogan is very left-leaning. Stallone is right-leaning. So he decided because he's in this Hollywood bubble, he thinks that everyone feels the same way about Salone that he goes now. And it's, they don't. They don't.
Starting point is 01:06:40 It doesn't run that way. See, that's, it's interesting you say that because you know me. I'm left leaning, but I love Stallone. Because it's back in the day, you know, it wasn't what it was. So I can, yeah, Stallone, Stallone, man, you don't fucking. You don't mess with Stone. And he said, he said, he's like, Rocky doesn't count it. It's a sports movie.
Starting point is 01:06:58 It's like, I get it. You're a cool geek that doesn't like Star Wars. right there's like sports movies i get it you're cool i hate shit like that there's i don't like sports movies because i'm a real geek it's like fuck off dude i don't like sports movies either i like him a lot like to me i i'm not a sports movies guy i fucking love rock i like yeah fuck out of here stupid fuck off see but fucking brank brain cox saying fuck off is the best it's the best ronnie but i'm ron age universe throw shit at me and your boy going to take that take that take
Starting point is 01:07:32 it all standing straight steadfast because that's how i rolls there you go if i call mike as had would you be upset i don't think so not after you'd call it i'd call it fucking worst pal you definitely happen ron h pld is mad with power he man style yeah not really mike choice mike would you rather a or b a win all of your online arguments and have those you argue with admit to you that you were right and that they were wrong and delete their account okay okay three b have the best sucks your life once a year have the best sex of my life once a year yeah right oh fucking win the argument yeah because you probably are doing that with your lady anyway um yeah iosha you there were there were other questions you could have asked in the same vein mike that probably
Starting point is 01:08:19 would have made it a little harder from uh ioshi you went to supergirl needed jelly roll cameo bringing fans no thank you uh you guys here no in the guy oh yeah cadabra we we actually talked about it. I was on the hot mic. We actually had a really long conversation about him. Roke actually pieced it out as a clip. So you can go over there and check out when I went in to talk about that. So yeah, it's interesting. But it was a long conversation. I highly recommend going over there. Give me the, give me the cliff notes version. What did you say? I think like for influencers, I think that the studio just needs to be a little bit more upfront and honest about what they are. You know, it's like you can't.
Starting point is 01:09:02 I don't mind. I don't have this vitriol against influencers the way a lot of other people do. I think that they serve a purpose. And I think they're a marketing tool. Okay. Well, let's hold on. Let's talk for a second.
Starting point is 01:09:16 Yeah, I've already heard your answer. That's all I need to hear. All right, all right. They didn't help Supergirl because they came out. No, they didn't. Raving about it. Raven about it. Well, that's my argument, though.
Starting point is 01:09:28 My argument is, but what happened. But my argument is this. The movie made 30. $8 million, right? Is there, and I'm going to say, I don't know what the answer to this is. It just has to be also opposed. Is there an argument to be made that if they didn't have those screenings, then the people that heard them, then it would have made $36 million.
Starting point is 01:09:46 But I remember, this was like three weeks ago when ticket sales first went online, and that's tangible. Yeah. It was tracking to make like between 55 and 70, and they were saying 70 on the high end. And it dropped to like 39, like two days before it open. what happened? People started to see it. But the influencers saw it.
Starting point is 01:10:06 Yeah, right. What happened? But you're tracking, are you tracking like the actual pre-sales tickets or just like we think they might buy tickets? No, I don't really know. I'm not going to pretend that you're tracking all the way through. I don't understand tracking at one time.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Joseph Clapsed 81816. As an aside from DC, do you think James Cameron with Avatar is similar to Deney with Dune, where it's dependent on one director, What do you think the future of Avatar is after the fifth? You're both awesome. Thank you, Joseph. I do think that Avatar is very similar to Deney with Dune.
Starting point is 01:10:38 I actually think as much as I think that, and I've said this before, Dune would suffer a lot more without Deney. I think that Avatar needs James Cameron more than Dune needs Deney. I think that you could find somebody to do a Dune movie. You really got to look. But I think that, yeah, I think Cameron steps away from Avatar and another filmmaker jumps in.
Starting point is 01:11:03 I think they look around going, I don't know what the fuck to do. I don't think anyone would know what to do with an Avatar movie besides Cameron. Didn't he? I think a different filmmaker could take over, Dune. And that's not saying anything against him.
Starting point is 01:11:18 No, no, you're excited, but I don't really necessarily think I want to see. Avatar is such much more of a technical. Yeah. Yeah. Because Cameron's not just a director, man. He is a, That guy invents technology to make his movies.
Starting point is 01:11:32 He is another level. Not trying to compare, but James Gunn is not Kevin Feige. Feige puts the directors in place for the success, giving them the through line of the greater universe while allowing them to put their style to it. By the way, I like James Gunn. I'm agreeing with you and every single thing that you said there, starting with, I like James Gunn, right?
Starting point is 01:11:53 The difference with putting in a director to run the whole thing is a directly, even the rumor that gun had Gillespie do, that needle drop scene at the end, that's a creative choice that a director makes that he should have nothing to do with. Get the fuck out of the way, dude. Get out of the way. Figi, now I'm not to say that Figgy doesn't give notes
Starting point is 01:12:15 and Figgy does, and the studios, of course they do. Part of it too. Well, well, I'm not backtrack what you're saying. Fige, and it's known that you, come in and you got to, you're going to sit at the control, but I'm the big guy behind you with the wheel. Like, well,
Starting point is 01:12:33 that's what they said on Black Widow, they're like, the director team is like, I don't, I don't know actions. Like, don't worry, we got people.
Starting point is 01:12:38 We're going to take care of the action for you. And she's just like, no, I direct my movies and she walked away. So it's just like, 1,000 percent. There's a machine there. There's no,
Starting point is 01:12:46 there's no doubt about it. But that's also why Jalen Turner said, you know, um, he gives them success, the through line of the greater universe. Sure. While allowing them to put their style.
Starting point is 01:12:54 And I think that that bodes true to a lot of people. I think that a lot of directors were allowed to do that. But I think as Mike's point is also well taken. There are sometimes, I mean, you look at Nikki DeCosta, right? I think she was kind of maneuvered into making a movie that she didn't want to make. I honestly will. And I stand that even more confidently after seeing the last 28 years later or whatever it was. I liked that movie a lot.
Starting point is 01:13:19 And I thought her style, and I was, and I went in that thinking, like, I hated the marvels. And that movie that she did with Tessa Thompson recently, Oscar movie, when talked about it, hated that movie too. So I was like, I don't know what, but she was, that was a really good movie that 208 years later. So, or was it called? Or Bone Temple, Bone Temple is what she did.
Starting point is 01:13:39 But anyway, it just depends on the situation, but I think Gunn needs to get out of the way and let people be creative. I know what you're saying. Yeah. Bobby, with the position DC finds himself in, do you think they need to make a big splash to San Diego Comic-Con, assuming they're attending? If they're attending, then yes.
Starting point is 01:13:55 They can't do what they can't do what the DC did with Black Adam that year. I don't think they're going to be there. You don't think so? And I say this because Marbles already announced they're going to be there. It's less than a month away. It's like three weeks from tomorrow. Yeah. And he says
Starting point is 01:14:11 he's just halfway through Man Up Tomorrow. This was like a week or two ago. They had announced we're halfway through Man Up Tomorrow. I think it was the day Supergirl came out. So he's got a whole another half to go. I don't think. And especially if Supergirl was a smash hit, maybe, but since it's not, I don't think they show. Because it's not going to be Saffirn by himself.
Starting point is 01:14:33 And there's no movie Clayface is not going to show up with the cast. It depends. It depends if you really want to fire off like some news. You don't get a victory lap though. There's no victory lap for that. It's not a victory lap. However, it's a don't worry, we got this lap. Where it's like, because if you do announce age, if you do show.
Starting point is 01:14:53 footage of man at tomorrow because remember when they did that course when they did guardians of the galaxy one yeah they were two weeks into filming and he had he put together i was always so impressed with this he put together a full-on trailer like a full-on trailer from the what do you have done in two weeks but wait but wait so like if they're able to do that then you announce adri arona and then by that point you actually announce what you have coming forward of your plan for the next year just a year Maybe even two. That would get people excited. And another lanterns trailer if it's coming out in August.
Starting point is 01:15:31 Now, here's the thing. I've been on Hall Age for, you know, 10, 12 years. I'm sure you've been there. And every time when I wanted to be the DC cheerleader, I always talked to the guys I'm with and I'd be like, man, Marvel or DC needs a FIGI. They need a guy because FIGG working that room on Hall H, no one did it better.
Starting point is 01:15:49 Yeah. So when Gunn was announced, I'm like, oh, they've got their Figi now. man can work a room. Anytime he did a Guardian's thing, it was awesome. Yeah. So that he wasn't there last year was disappointing,
Starting point is 01:16:00 but Superman already came out. Like last year was the year for Victory Lab. Last year was like Superman came out. You guys loved it. Yeah. What you're saying is 100%. You know, you show a man as tomorrow
Starting point is 01:16:10 and you bring out Wonder Woman. Absolutely that erase a supergirl instantly from our little Twitter universe of geeks. Yeah. I think he's just, I think they're so busy in filming. and I think they're probably, I don't want to say damage control,
Starting point is 01:16:25 that's not right, but I think they are looking like, all right, we've got to fix this ship. We're not out of course yet, but we just got to hit a little iceberg. I don't think anything you're saying is nuts. I think that if that turns out to be the case
Starting point is 01:16:40 that they decide not to, sure, sure. It's not like in the past where if you don't go to Hall Age, that's detrimental. I think studios realize what they get out of Hall of, really doesn't matter. No.
Starting point is 01:16:54 Because those people still see the films anyway. To me, Comic Con is a major, San Diego Comic is a major loss of money. I think it is, 100%. It was a very different, it was a very different thing 10 years ago than what it is today.
Starting point is 01:17:08 The internet has changed things dramatically. And so it's, for fans, it's still amazing. It's a great experience overall. But for studios, it's a major loss of money, because the amount of pilots and TV shows
Starting point is 01:17:24 that have been promoted there and things that have gone nowhere and movies that have just tanked and gone nowhere, it does nothing. Yeah. Jose Rodriguez, I never thought I would agree with the take that grounding Batman to realism somewhat handcuffs other potentially for a version of Batman
Starting point is 01:17:40 that we got has in the animated show and movies. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm with you, man. I want this fucking Batman to be swinging around rooftop have a giant bat cave with a giant penny and robot dinosaur in it. Like, we need to stop with the grounded Batman. I'm the Batman guy. And you need to stop.
Starting point is 01:18:01 You got to let come. You love the Batman. Didn't you love the Batman? I loved it. I will say this. I was disappointed when they Reeves had pushed. We're grounded. We're grounded.
Starting point is 01:18:10 I'm just like, oh. So I had to take what they gave me. And I had to judge it on what it was. But I want a Batman that's, I want a fantastical Batman. If I was, I mean,
Starting point is 01:18:21 this train has passed now, but if I was gun and saffron, in order to really get that headache of the Batman out of the way, I would have done everything possible to try to find a way with Reeves to make Pattinson Batman. Because right now, dude, because what it's going to do is it's going, I agree with Rocha, a thousand percent that one of the reasons we haven't even heard about a Batman is because the Batman, you never hear it's, it is a pain in the ass for gun.
Starting point is 01:18:50 because I know I've used I've used this example a thousand times let me use it a thousand and one that when they when they first started and we're keeping the door open to Gallagadote we're keeping the door open to to everybody who is before us the flash we're keeping the door open to everyone because they had those movies coming out. Flash comes out each shit. Aquaman 2 barely breaks even Shazam 2 each shit right so then they go now we're done with that now it's gone the Batman crushes does all this money And they go, well, we can't just get rid of the Batman too. We need a sequel. So now they can't do anything with Batman because, I mean, they clearly, there were so many arguments. There were so many arguments for me, Mike, when people would say, it's not too confusing. Audiences get it.
Starting point is 01:19:35 Well, guess what? Many insiders have said one of the main reasons they're not pushing Batman right now is because they feel audiences would be too confused. It's a major, major point. So like, it would be too confusing. And again, it's just they've established, if his Batman would, was a lot more fantastical. I would be 100% more into it.
Starting point is 01:19:54 But it is so grounded. It's like, and it works. It works for what they're doing, you know. Yeah. But like, you know, it's,
Starting point is 01:20:03 it's a, it's a shitty situation. That is, that is, that is, I would love to know, someone write a book on that whole, the Batman interfering with Batman and like,
Starting point is 01:20:13 yeah, it's just. Yeah. Yeah. It's messy. Uh, DJ. What's up,
Starting point is 01:20:18 Derek? They're in a huge amount of debt. after this sale goes through, they're in junk credit territory right now. They've got to start making money from this purchase immediately. Guns probably got three projects left. That two of the three needs a hit. Yes, I agree. And that's why I say that maybe there's a couple different things that we'll look at it.
Starting point is 01:20:37 One, he really believes in Destro, Bain thinks it's going to make some money. And he's going to make that project happen. And whatever the second movie of Teen Titans, he thinks those two movies could get him back on track and can make money. he's two same scenario but he's reckless doesn't really understand what's happening and is just throwing this money away and has a terrible plan about it three he doesn't give a shit he wants to make these movies and say i don't want to i don't like how i'm going to take a page out of what's his face from yellowstone and i'm going to say i don't really want to work with these guys i don't really care i'm going to make the movies i want to make you don't want to hire me on great take what i have
Starting point is 01:21:16 don't take what i have i'm going to go make some weird movies later on Yeah. No, the Taylor Sheridan, that's a great. Yeah. You know, he did not like the management of Paramount. And he was just like, I'm out. I'm going to make my own thing. And he, you know, so I, you know, it's, it's a very weird time.
Starting point is 01:21:35 And I don't think, I don't think we're going to have any kind of answers for several years of what's going to happen. I think they're going to keep making the movies. The plan is in place. They're going to have to change their plan, Safran and Gunn, but I don't know about the paramount of it yet. because it's still in legal, you know, this and that. Who knows? Who knows? Nathan Drake.
Starting point is 01:21:55 Bain Destroke teaming up to escape Arkham would be a great, smaller budget movie. Could feel like Dizzy's version of Raid. A billion percent. Yeah. Keep it, $40 million. Yes. Do a $40 million raid movie with those two? That's awesome.
Starting point is 01:22:09 Like that, that gets me excited. $150 million movie? Stupidity. C.C. Black. MCU X-Men will connect with the younger generations. I think you're right. I think if they do it the right way and cast correctly, I think it's a brand new way to introduce X-Men.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Marvel has an opportunity, which we've ever really discussed. Marvel really has an opportunity. The question is if they're going to, if they're going to shoot the ball into the hoop or it's going to be a brick. They can make a big comeback right now. They got a shot with Spider-Man. But that's why I was saying.
Starting point is 01:22:39 Well, see, I take Spider-Man out of the equation because Spider-Man will always be a hit. Even Amazing Spider-Man too, which now people love. But back then, it was, it made money. Like, well, yes, yes. It's like Batman. They're going to make money those two characters. But it doesn't, but wait, but wait, it doesn't take it out of the equation.
Starting point is 01:22:55 It just makes it's an easier, it's an easier layup, right? Because like the thing is, that's what I'm saying, we need. Yeah. That's when people are making the argument to get Batman going because it's going to go. It's your safety net. Yeah. You start. It's Thunder Bolt's fails, Spider-Man 5 will, if Thunderbolt's two fails,
Starting point is 01:23:12 Spider-Man 5 will raise it off. Because you want to have a win. Because you don't want to go. You don't want to go lost, lost. I think after Doomsday and Secret Word, and I don't know what happens, I think X-Men. That's why I thought X-Men Fantastic Four. Those were the two things that really go to.
Starting point is 01:23:30 But then to hear Shang-Chi's in there and Black Panther and Thunderbolts 2. And I'm like, that seems like old-school Marvel like, oh, I thought you're wiping the slate clean and giving us those two things going forward. And I don't know. I don't know. I think right now, Spider-Man will get him a win. We're both an agreement on that, right? Then the Avengers will get them another win.
Starting point is 01:23:52 Now, if it's really good, then it's going to get people excited for Secret Wars, which will be another win. Sure. And then if they finish off Secret Wars and then they hit with X-Men, that's potentially four wins in a row, which... If that's the way they go with them, yeah. If they go with... I'm not wrong.
Starting point is 01:24:09 It's a good strategy. And even if they don't do, even if they do Black Panther 3 in that spot, that's a win. and then if they do X-Men, because they're going with hitters to further your point with Spider-Man. I'm not going with Hurtains. They're not going with Thunderbolts anymore
Starting point is 01:24:27 or Teen Titans. They're going with, you know, I know with DC, I know, it's my point. Is that, or Destrook and Bain. Well, that's what I'm saying, you don't drop a Shang Chi 2 in the middle of that. No, you don't. Not yet, but if you do,
Starting point is 01:24:40 but if you do Shang Chi 2 after four wins, okay, sure. Then you can do that. DC doesn't have. have those kind of wins to be doing Supergirl right now. I'm not not arguing that at all. Jose Rodriguez. I believe people care more for the Bat family than the Super Family.
Starting point is 01:24:55 I want this collection to work, but I'm waiting for streaming. Sorry. No need to apologize. I get what you're saying. I don't think the family's on either side are as big as people think they are. You've got to build the relationships for the families to work. I agree. No one gets a shit about Tim Drake unless you know the history of Tim Drake.
Starting point is 01:25:14 Krem was a rich kid, a narcissist, just a plot device in the comics, explain my Supergirl and Ruthie traveled the universe. He was never the mean, big, bad villain. I'm with you, man. I read that movie a book about a year ago, and I couldn't remember anything about him. So when I heard he's terrible in the film, I'm like, but if your bad guy's not good, doesn't raise the stakes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:39 Alan Smithy, I'd ask Mike more questions, but I'm afraid he might yell at me. are you all a lot yeah John Drag hey Christian World of Real apparently has said it rumored
Starting point is 01:25:50 the gun might direct Batman himself for placing him shitty thoughts that would be a I think that is not true and that would be as that would be a massive error
Starting point is 01:26:00 a massive error a massive error if he does that especially right now he doesn't have the goodwill of the people right now that would be a matter and I didn't see the whole article didn't Campia say
Starting point is 01:26:08 he gun either needs to step away completely from directing or direct all of DC didn't he just say that which I think is doing super man he does if he winds up and does Superman Superman man at tomorrow and then Batman it's like yeah you you can't I'm not I'm not I'm not for that I don't yeah live daily you see Netflix using Gene Wilder's voice for AI for a Willie Wonka competition show no I didn't see that can't wait for smet's games tomorrow
Starting point is 01:26:38 no he smet's isn't on tomorrow I'm sorry that's that you can submit submit questions and he he actually likes when he's on like if you guys when you put in super chats he does he does stuff but you absolutely can submit but smetts will be on for the games next week he has a very busy um he's got a busy week for work uh black fiction christian i usually agree with you a lot of topics however i bet you with all of my gta money teen titans would make bank if it's good and i guarantee you would make more than thunderbolts for and and uh supergirl okay so black fiction let me ask you this question if you decide to put another question you don't have to but my question question to you is this. How much money are you spending on a Teen Titans movie? Again, I know this is
Starting point is 01:27:19 the same thing. I keep saying about everything, how much money are you putting on it? Because saying it would bank, without knowing who's directing it, without knowing how much it costs, I think is irresponsible because you don't know in the same way that Thunderbolt shouldn't cost as much as it did. Supergirl shouldn't cost as much as it did. Fantastic Four was the one that I thought was going to do better, but just didn't resonate with people. But what are we talking? We're talking about a $60 million teen titan movie? Then yeah, then I'm with you. It'll make bank. We're talking about another 30, 40, 40 million. Are you talking about $150 million? Teen Titans movie, $200 million? Then yeah. Then I'll bet you that GTA money. There's no world. Jalen Turner.
Starting point is 01:28:03 If I was James Gunn, and people thought I was crazy, by the way, and I said this, I said this a year ago, or six months ago, whatever it was. I said, I don't think. I think Supergirl is going to make money. I don't think the interest is there. I don't, and it was before anybody said it was any good. And I remember talking to Winston and Chris, and they're telling me they were more excited about that than Doomsday. And I'm going, this movie is not going to make money.
Starting point is 01:28:26 It's just not going to do it. There's no interest in this movie. If I was James Gunn and Adra is Wonder Woman, I would announce before Man of Tomorrow. Jaylor, well, that's the conversation Mike and I just had about ComicCon. We both agree, Mike, that if they do ComicCon, they'll have to announce her, right? if she is Wonder Woman.
Starting point is 01:28:43 Like, that's another thing. Maybe, so here's the thing. Maybe they don't go to Comic Con because she's not Wonder Woman. And you don't announce her as Maximo. You don't do some big reveal as that because that's going to be a fart in the wind. Oh, such a part. That's the problem. I mean, think about it.
Starting point is 01:28:56 Like, if she's not one woman, there's nothing to announce, Val. I can see Gunn doing that, though. Like, really is saying, we're going to make Maxima cool, though. People are going to like her. I know. I know. I know. People are going to like her.
Starting point is 01:29:06 She's going to, we'll bring her back. And we're going to get such a big role. People are going to love Maxima. and it's going to land like a fart in an elevator. Nathan Drake, Zendaya as Bourne Rumors, thoughts. Well, I mean, I think even Snyder, who reported this, said that the studio said it
Starting point is 01:29:21 wasn't true. Yeah, but it's not, so he reported it, but the studio was not true. He heard about it. He heard about from different sources, and then he... But the fact that, and I love Snyder, because he's so, his opinions, he'll stick by them, and he was just like, you gotta, it's a great idea.
Starting point is 01:29:36 The hottest star in the world. That, you want to talk, at Harloff, I love, like, Okay, the ballerina. I love that movie. Didn't do well. Didn't do well. No.
Starting point is 01:29:46 You want to talk about a fart in a win, killing a franchise, is D-O-A, if she is cast as Jason as Janine Bourne. D-O-Fucking A. It would be. In no world. It would be smart.
Starting point is 01:29:59 Even if you made her a treadstone agent and Bourne is in it like just mentioned. No, that's still fucking dies. Better, though, than Baker you're born. Better, better. But I'm saying this. And again, I don't think it's a little bit. It's essentially Belorina.
Starting point is 01:30:11 Right. Exactly. Yeah. You have Jason Bourne pop up like you're, you need to stop doing what you're doing. Like, fuck, I forgot what I was going to fucking say. God damn it. Yeah. No, I thought it. It was a good point.
Starting point is 01:30:25 No, okay. So I don't think it's this way yet, but Born and Matt Damon in that role, it's almost Harrison Ford level of Indian Jones. Not that it's as iconic, but the fact that the role, no one really knew about the character before. There was the book, of course. Matt Damon made Jason Bowler. born Jason Bourne. You don't recast him. Now, there was talk I'd heard of Matt wants to do another movie.
Starting point is 01:30:47 And they're always talking ideas. He's like, he even says, like, if you guys have an idea, we want to do another one. So I don't think he's to look at him in the Odyssey. He looks fucking great. He's in shape. Well, look, Luke, do another one of those. Luke actually made a really good point. Like, again, I appeal to you, but very solid fan base and a lot of young fans, it doesn't mean, that doesn't mean anything to me.
Starting point is 01:31:08 That's what you said about Zendaya? No, no, no, he's talking about Teen Titans. But Luke also said Teen Titans would only work if you introduce a great Dick Grayson and a Batman movie that people fall in love with. I agree with that. But you have to have a good Batman movie first. I agree with that. They did a Titan show for Max that didn't do amazing. So if you did, if you set up, if you set up the makings for a Titans movie and got people excited about it through a Batman movie, then I believe that that that.
Starting point is 01:31:39 that could work for sure. So I think I'm not saying teen tights can't work. I just think you've got to lay a lot of track to do that. Yeah. So I just think I still, I still think it's just a mistake to do right now. I mean, um, okay. Mike and Christian, who's your choice for Batman? I stick with Sklar.
Starting point is 01:32:01 I think Skunar would have been great. I don't have one. There's been so many names thrown out there. I don't have one because I don't care. And I'd say that. I don't care. I didn't care about Superman and who it was. I just wanted a good Superman.
Starting point is 01:32:13 I wanted to fall in love with the character, and Cornswit did that for me. So I, as if they're good, as you know, you get a guy that's in shape with some dark hair, good looking dude.
Starting point is 01:32:23 Yeah. And can act great. I'm in. All right. I think that's a fair, fair take. Yeah. Porkins follows it up.
Starting point is 01:32:29 If Smet's misses tomorrow, we'll be on Thursday Friday. Now he's out this week because he's got a really busy work week. He'll be back next week. Johnny, I hope Rock's doing her right. She's doing all right. We're going to,
Starting point is 01:32:38 we'll be able to, follow up with rocks for i mean we get her three times next week next month which will be great michael d jelly roll as bain yeah look at those look at that picture by the way that's you is that me with some fucking laser eyes that's pretty that's now that should be sending that to me that should be my twitter fucking handle that should be my twitter on the discord go on the discord is all the discord are all those picture on the discord i hope that that is because michael d put that in the discord so mike can use that for his profile picture that's actually perfect joey peddress just hit 20 months as a member thank you so much joey that's so incredible
Starting point is 01:33:07 Thank you for the great work. Appreciate it. Appreciate you. The fact that we've had, the fact of the memberships have been going on for 20 months is even more amazing. I think you're one of the first ones. Griffin, Shaw, Media, Smasher as Bain,
Starting point is 01:33:19 Mike is Batman Prince Money. Let's go. Back in the day, that's kind of what it was. Yeah. It really was. I came in and fucking broke my back. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:27 You fucking broke my back and hobbled me. At least Everest. Maybe I'm reading around. Christian, you know Teen Titans is one of D.C.'s more popular properties. A first movie would do better than some just a... I get, guys, I get, I'm a DC guy, and I, I am not a Titans guy, but I know it's a generational thing. I know there are younger people that love Teen Titans guys.
Starting point is 01:33:48 I know it. I know you guys love your boyas from Cyborg. I know you do, but you, here's, you know, here's going to be a good, a good test of lanterns and then Manit Tomorrow with John Stewart. There is an entire generation like there is of Titans that love John Stewart as Green Lantern. They don't give a shit about how. Will they show up for this lantern show? It's their lantern. It's the guy they love getting a show.
Starting point is 01:34:15 Will they show up? Will they show up in manna tomorrow? You know what it is, Mike? Let me clarify a little bit more, too. It's not that I don't think that they should never do a Teen Titans movie. I don't think that they should do one soon. Because the brand is in disarray again right now. It is not the superhero.
Starting point is 01:34:37 it's not the DC universe right now. Right now, it's the Superman universe right now. And they're stretching into the DC universe to just randomly throw Bain and Destro and then Teen Titans out of nowhere is going to not, it doesn't matter how popular Teen Titans is. And look, Lisa, the other side of this is where I would instantly say, well, wait a minute, maybe this thing could do well, who's your director, who's writing the script,
Starting point is 01:35:07 Who's in it, right? What's the tone? That's a possibility. But I still think it's a mistake to try to go for this movie first before you set them up in a world that the big guns are out there first. That's the thing. And another thing, so I'm going to say this. And I don't know how I got on the face of this, but like all these big teen Titans fans, they didn't show up for Titans when that TV show.
Starting point is 01:35:37 was on and that was Robin, Beast Boy, Starfire, Raven, all the big, all the Teen Titans characters were there and that audience wasn't there. So, I just,
Starting point is 01:35:51 I feel that I do it just works it out right right now. It's a bad move to do right now. To do it, to do it right now, it's a bad move. You thought Mandelorian and Grogo was going to be, was going to do well in the box office. It was a bad move. It was a bad move.
Starting point is 01:36:07 Now Teen Titans, eventually? Eventually. Eventually. Not for your next movie. It's, yeah. Ron H. cruising in my car with my mom. She says, hi. Tell her hi as well. We hope she's doing okay. Go, pal, gifted 10 memberships. Thank you, go pal. It's amazing. Really good. Haskell. Hey, guys, I wish other streamers were like Prime. Reacher season four drops on August 12th. a little over a year after season three and a new spinoff series with his partner on nine 16 that's cool christ in the next six days are going to be a scorcher ugh i know it's supposed to be like a super heat wave here last year i took mike you know this story when i it was it was just around this time when i saw f1 and i was it was another heat oh yeah it was the worst i was i never forget this for the
Starting point is 01:36:57 for the rest of the years on on this planet i took the train to penn station i was like you know what it's so hot but i'm gonna walk to this theater it took me 15 20 minutes to walk to this theater, which I don't know why I did that in the first place, but I did it. And I walked to this theater, to which I still have never been to this movie theater since. Where the hell was it? It doesn't matter. Get in there. I go, okay, at least I'm going to walk in and I'm going to have air conditioning.
Starting point is 01:37:20 Air conditioner was broken. And they gave us fans and free food and beer. And I'm just like this. The whole, this is how much I love that. That's got miserable. It was miserable. It was miserable. But yeah, it's supposed to be pretty hot.
Starting point is 01:37:33 But thankfully enough, I don't have any screenings. and that's not true wait I'm going to see Moana live action soon and then there's another one I get coming up too but anyway Mr. I crap and shits Mike are you going to go to San Diego Comic Con
Starting point is 01:37:49 to get the exclusive Jimbrose Skeletor figure well I'll tell you this I just joined whatever Mattel's Club Grey Skull thing is so I can order online like the Mattel booth at ComicCom it is impossible to get the exclusives there they sell out so fast. I've always noticed that every year.
Starting point is 01:38:08 But they're selling it online, too. So I'll probably buy it online. I can't do. That's fair. The lines there for the exclusives are insane. Go pal. Christian, come on. You don't like my jokes. I'm going to poke you. It was like 90% of your brand. Touche. LJ Films and Gaming. Just two handsome fellas. My short film,
Starting point is 01:38:27 my short film is done and I submitted to three festivals. Anyone with an idea, go make it. You got this. One million percent. You got to do it. That's great, like I said, it's another reason I'm starting to, so where we're standing on it, we're getting pretty close to the, you know, all the legal side of things, just waiting to see the guy who's potentially going to be helping us with the Kickstarter, bringing him on board. And then Martini is coming on tomorrow and introduce you. I want to start getting, like I said, my goal is to try to launch the Kickstarter by the second of September.
Starting point is 01:39:00 So I'm with you, LJ, make your stuff, do your thing. Tyler Rubby, you're killing it with a live show lineup this year. Thank you. Yeah, I think we've found our groove with the host and everything, too. And I think that people know when to come in and all that stuff too. So, yeah, what's up? Nothing. I just got a notification and said, he-ha.
Starting point is 01:39:23 People find my posts like on Instagram for months ago, and they're just going, he-ha! Look at this, look at this. Here is it. We got to make a he-ha-ha shirt. We really do. It's the best. He-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-a-old-a-old-a-ha.
Starting point is 01:39:58 Okay, let's say. That would have been the new ba-ha. Oh, easy. Ron H. is in awe of the magic box cell phone. She's old as fruca. I'm slightly less old as fruque. Trying to convince mom to go on the run with me.
Starting point is 01:40:10 See if she does. See if she does. Yeah, Thelma and Louise Part 2. Greenie from Oz. Gunn seems better writing niche characters versus the big three. I'm with you. 59. So far, Mike, 59.
Starting point is 01:40:24 Can we get it? Can we beat Roca? You need some big stuff here. On the, I think, Rogan's the lone thing. Do you think that actors are getting into the mentality of you are on the opposite side, then you're the enemy. Mark Ruffalo has been on that train lately. I do think people run into that problem.
Starting point is 01:40:39 And I think that it's one of the reasons that social media is a problem. I think the reasons people get too comfortable sometimes on podcasts and other things too. And I think that, you know, when you're in the business of trying, so I talked about selling to everyone, you have to be careful of what you're doing. And I do think, and I can say that even more detached now from Los Angeles. Los Angeles lives in a bubble. I mean, they really do. They really do as far as like they're,
Starting point is 01:41:05 they think that them, because of everything that's made there, that everybody shares the same point of view, and it's not the case. And Rogan's not a hero to everybody, the way he thinks he is. And Stallone is to a lot of people. So, yeah, if you're on the opposite side of things,
Starting point is 01:41:23 people are going to. Yeah, I get what you're saying, but it's not, I don't, I've never viewed Stallone like I do Mel Gibson. No, I know, but he's, but he is. And they're both on that same side. So it's just like, Stallone is like, that's how he was raised.
Starting point is 01:41:35 It's like, it's like Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger's a fucking Republican governor. But that's the difference now, though, is because of what has happened. I know. I know. I know. Is that it's like, I know, man. Teams. It's like you're on my team, then you're not my friend anymore.
Starting point is 01:41:49 I know. I just, I just view like I don't look at Stallone like I look at Gibson nowadays. Yeah. You know, it's just, yeah. I get it, man. Ron H. No Hollywood, but I took my pants. off a pants off a pants
Starting point is 01:42:04 Tyler Ruby Batman in the style of Iron Man 1 that movie was real but still had light tone light enough to have the giant penny dino in that style yeah I I think that's a that's fair that kind of style that worked for me yeah
Starting point is 01:42:20 Derek Mike with the blasphemy of desecrating the bat family name Tim Drake Jason Todd Dick Grayson we're gonna skip all the rich storytelling to skip to Damien we can all agree this is a universe and a story telling problem. I'm with him. I'm saying. Dick Grayson is the best. I was never a fan of Jason Todd. And I think Tim Drake,
Starting point is 01:42:43 they don't know what the hell to do with him. I think Damien is a great choice. I love the Damien Bruce dynamic. This is also a good point, which I also agree. The average person isn't worried about a celebrity not liking other celebrity in movies. You're not wrong. But the problem is also is that because of social media and because of clips and shorts, things start to go into, again, it's subconscious stuff that pops in there too a lot of times too. But no, I don't think that it's really going to hurt the viewership of the studio. No, I don't. And there's other things I could from other, from other things that
Starting point is 01:43:22 are said, but not, not that. I'm with you. And I'm just, it, when you're in a, when you're in a zone of like, he's pretty well liked, said Rogen. You know, so why would you, why would you, why would you, why you want to not be liked if you're trying to push your business? I don't get it. To answer your question, Christian, 60 to 70 million, but understand this Teen Titans fan base is just as big as X-Men. I don't know if that's true. But to me, X-Men stretches over so many decades that I don't know if Teen Titans does the same. But 60 to 70 million, if that's what the budget is, I'm not going to, I wouldn't bet you on that if it needed to make if 60 to 70 million and it needs to make you know 100 million dollars 220 million dollars I wouldn't I wouldn't take that bet if you're pushing
Starting point is 01:44:12 into the 150 and especially and even with that budget I still think it's a mistake narratively to do that before you do the big three um Haskell broke it last night replayed and broke down guns movies and series announcements late from a few years years ago. It was a good stream. Gunn said the Supergirl was going to be a giant science fiction epic, and it was far from that. It was far from that because I think they were trying to base it off what the actual comic book was. And they... But again, like what you're saying, when he said that when they're announcing it, that's a different thing when you're making. What's on the page, the script, you can write this massive epic, but that you get into the production
Starting point is 01:44:58 of it, you realize things change. I'm like, it's there different stages of filmmaking. And when he's announcing a slate with that, that's what he's selling. That's not wrong to, you can't look back and they go up. He lied to us because he didn't. It just, but it goes back. But he's got his hands involved
Starting point is 01:45:15 in every step of the production. It goes back to the previous point. You got to be so careful in what you're announcing and how you announce it. Because it's just things live on and like quotes and things of that nature. It's part of it. Like, look at like Star Wars.
Starting point is 01:45:30 right? Star Wars, our biggest frustration, me and you, we talk about this all of the time. Stop announcing directors on projects until it's locked down, right? And I don't think they're going to do that anymore. I think that those days of Star Wars. Yeah, but also I'm a pushback just a little bit, not on the directors, but for years. And I say this because I was entrenched in the social media of DC for many, many years. People were screaming, like, we just want to know what's going on. Just tell us. a slate. Give us a slate. We want to know because DC for a while wasn't doing that. And they everyone was, they wanted it to be Marvel. They wanted a slate. They wanted Figey up there with the timeline of, and they wanted that for DC. So gun came out of the
Starting point is 01:46:13 beginning like, because Gunn was in the middle of that, but on the Marvel side. Like he knew it. He's like, we got to give him, we got to give him an image. We got to give them. And remember everyone online like, we created logos for all the movies and look how awesome our slate is for DC. Like, and those are just YouTubers doing it. Right. They went nuts for that shit. The DC fandom when they did that or whenever it was that he had that little special thing, people went nuts. DJ, gun did the same thing. Every other version of DC has done, rushing everything to catch up to the MCU. Every movie is just stuffed with characters, references, and no casual audience can invest in that.
Starting point is 01:46:47 I disagree. I think it's too young to say that yet. I feel Supergirl might have been that. Supergirl might have been that. But I- Supergirl was stuffed with characters and references? It was stuff to a lot of Superman stuff. And, if you didn't see Superman right away, but I think that.
Starting point is 01:47:04 I'll say this. Yeah. The best thing in that Supergirl movie was that Krypton stuff. I don't disagree with you. That stuff was awesome. It was great. And you know what the funny thing is? David Kronholz.
Starting point is 01:47:14 And it looked great. And David Kroholtz. He is a great actor. Yeah. And he was probably one of the best things in the movie. 100%. However, however, if you wanted to throw in some big star power, that could have been the role to do it. in the way that they got like bradley cooper to do jurel yeah yeah okay and i'll i'll push back
Starting point is 01:47:36 when bradley cooper when bradley cooper up it threw me out for a second it's like oh bradley cooper i'm not telling you that it would crumholds allow me to believe the character and like that's her father i don't disagree with you he was great he was probably one of the best things in the movie i'm just saying that if you if you wanted any big names in any because like where else could you if if everybody's passing on crem i know yeah where else could you put the big role I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, I get you. Armada. Dynamic duo puppet movie sounds like a misfire. Oh, is that actually a thing? I don't even talk about that. What is, scrap that. Please.
Starting point is 01:48:13 Scrap that. Okay. Ron H. I hope you can have Ms. Barber back during a live stream again. Then again, should Ron H. meet Penny? I may end up corrupting her. And Christian, get on Sarah for win. What is Sarah for win. Sarah, the porn star, Sarah. Sarah Jay? Yeah. Hilarious. Yeah. Let's see. There you have a couple left here. That's 61. These shows and movies are stuffed. I want to get to know this universe and be invested, not thrown in and told to rely on my comic knowledge. MCU makes you feel like you grew and knew these characters. Mike, you're telling me that Jason Todd and the Red Hood Joker death storyline is not as good as
Starting point is 01:49:00 Tali Al Gould baby mama, Damien Wayneswerelland. Oh, my fellow DC fan. How disappointing. But you're looking at, if you told me they did the death of Jason Todd right out the gun, right at the bat, at the bat, it might mean anything. You had that because you had years of Dick Grayson. And then here comes this young punk kid that's stealing Batmobile tires. And Batman's pissed off at Dick Grayson.
Starting point is 01:49:23 So he gets a new Robin. And then he realizes the failure he did. That is storytelling. Damien, you could put in. and you don't need the knowledge of what came before it. You can make it fresh from the beginning. Jason Todd works because you had Dick Grayson in that storyline.
Starting point is 01:49:40 Yeah. You're looking at it from a congressman. You're not looking at it from a movie. Yep. I will say one of the, well, I don't want to spoil it. I guess,
Starting point is 01:49:47 yeah, this is a spoiler for Supergirl. So you haven't seen the tough shit. This is a spoiler. Like when they were talking about it, it did make me realize that I, I really disliked the choice of what they did with Jarre after seeing this.
Starting point is 01:50:01 Luke wrote the agreement's the same thing with... You know, here's a good point you said to that story. And I did not know this, but the whole Jorrell sending Kallel to Earth to be the savior and to be help people, that's a Donner thing. That was never the comics.
Starting point is 01:50:18 Oh, really? Yeah. Jeremy Manabite goes by on Twitter. Really good dude. How did he get there? What do you mean? How did a Superman get there? Who sent Superman then?
Starting point is 01:50:27 the family still sent him, but Jarrell was, the cryptonians were at this, Jerell wasn't this benevolent. Like, we got, it was, they were more of a militant,
Starting point is 01:50:37 like, he really went into it. It was fascinating. And I looked on it, kind of research, it's like, oh yeah, that is a,
Starting point is 01:50:42 that is a, that is a donner thing. That was all the Donner thing. So I love that. And maybe gun, and guns very much. Maybe in the camera, yeah,
Starting point is 01:50:51 he knows, but I love the fact that, but here's the thing, and maybe they are thinking ahead. It shows the difference between Calell and Kara and their parents. And to get into that storyline, and if he, like, if they talk more about like,
Starting point is 01:51:03 that's, you know. Yeah. All right. Last one for now. For now, unless people want to keep us on. Sun Devil Roadrunner. Was it your idea to make separate films about each Axeman character? It doesn't feel like Axeman feels like the Avengers. They're orphans who come together. How do you do it? No, it wasn't every Xman.
Starting point is 01:51:21 Because that, that's the same thing that I'd be a hypocrite, because it's not every X-Men movie can make money. But what I'm saying is, Cyclops should have his own movie. Now, the difference, you think that? I do think that, but I don't think that it should be like, again, $150, $200 million movie. I think that what you, but the difference is a lot of times when it comes to the, using the Avengers thing, the buildup would be single movie, single movie, single movie, build up to the X-Men. And then I agree with that's an Avengers strategy. I say you go with X-Men first and then you stick with you.
Starting point is 01:51:56 You can do a Cyclops movie. You can do a Wolverine movie. They've done that before. So they've done Wolverine movies outside. You can do certain movies to see who becomes popular and who people really resonate, which actors they really resonate with. And then you can give side venture movies too if it works out. But to be honestly, that was a very different strategy even when I thought about that years ago.
Starting point is 01:52:18 Right now, I think the strategy that they have in place with the bigger IPs of what they're doing is the way to go. Spider-Man, X-Men, Black Panther, and, you know, Avengers doing that, that's where they need to go right now and do like one, maybe two movies a year, but that's it. And then, you know, because Star Wars, Star Wars is doing now one movie a year with two shows. That makes me nervous because I don't know if they've really mastered that system yet, you know? comic lover maybe do the bat family same as scott snider comic run all the robins already grow into their respective roles and damien is still young as robin i know what you're saying but those of us that read you read those everyone that read those you're coming in with all the knowledge of the robins so you knew yeah it's it's tough the robins are a tough thing yeah see but this is again
Starting point is 01:53:14 no one's watching a side club so you so who's cast you don't like the actor that they cast? I'm with these. Let me ask my favorite X-Men guy. I'll ask both you guys. So you don't like the director that they got for the movie? You don't like the writer that they got? You don't like the guy who was cast in the movie? What are you talking about? The movie that's we don't know. Because we don't know who it is.
Starting point is 01:53:38 I'll go see it because I see comic movies, but that is not Have you seen, have you seen how, did you see how popular he was in the new X-Men movie that they did? And how much people resonated to him and why they loved him so much in the new one? No, you didn't fucking see it yet. So you don't know. If it turns out they didn't cast the right person. Today, no one's going to see a psychops movie.
Starting point is 01:53:58 But you don't know. You don't know the future. You got to see how it's going to. They're going to focus more in on him. And the reason why he was so popular in the damn X-Men 97 because they actually explored who he really was as a character. So I disagree. If they do it right, it could work.
Starting point is 01:54:13 But I don't know yet. So there you go. All right. Let's see. Is that it? Any more? No, one more. C.C. Black, you can't replicate the MCU.
Starting point is 01:54:25 The MCU is one of one. It will never happen again. 37 films, $32 billion, enjoy this run. I'm with you on that, man. It's hard to argue with that. You can't argue with that. I don't, and I was talking to some people about this. I don't think we ever get an Avengers end game.
Starting point is 01:54:41 If you were end game, build up, we don't ever get that again, even in the MCU. It's hard. And that's okay. That's fucking okay. Let it be what we were, like all of us that experienced that from, the beginning to end game that's something special man it was if we don't ever get that again that's okay yeah it's all right but i still think you can do stuff you shouldn't it's the same way that people they get so scared of well i don't want to do what the mc u did when they're trying to do what
Starting point is 01:55:07 the mccc did sometimes they try so far to go away from it like again yeah let's just go against let's just do obscure characters and let's not do post-credit scenes it's like people kind of waiting for that there's no post-credit scene the supergirl i think was was an error um And in the same way, like, Star Wars, let's not do crawls anymore. Only do it for, like, the trilogies. Let's not use any of John Williams' themes anymore. I was surprised there was no post-credit Supergirl. You too.
Starting point is 01:55:35 That was a- Because he was making a point. I don't do post-credit scenes. I hate that. Was that a gun or a Gillespie thing? It's a gun thing. He doesn't like to do post-credit scenes. He made it a mean.
Starting point is 01:55:44 Okay. And it's like, it's like, you don't get to do that, though, anymore. People, people look, you're, you're, you're, in a universe. But didn't he say, did he say he hated it in Marvel when they made him stick him in his films and he hated it?
Starting point is 01:55:58 I think so. Yeah, because they did Adam Warlock and he didn't want to do that so they had to stick Adam Warlock into, okay, here's a good point to back his point. He didn't want to do Adam. And you know, it's a good point. You haven't said it yet.
Starting point is 01:56:10 Hold on a second. You said it's a good point. It's just the point. Set it of mine. Shut your mouth. Shut your mouth. He didn't want to include Adam. Adam Warlock and Guardians 2
Starting point is 01:56:21 Faggy made him. So then they had to bring him into Guardians 3 and Will Polter was cast and everyone's up, oh, he's working out, he looks awesome. No one remembers him in that movie. And there's no talk of him ever appearing ever again. It was like, and he kind of had to shoehorn him into the story the gun wanted to tell.
Starting point is 01:56:37 So maybe he's like, you don't fuck that shit. I had dealt with it. I'm not going to stick another filmmaker with that shit. Yeah. Oh. There we go. Abernathy. So,
Starting point is 01:56:44 so, everyone, take, take to your ears. But I don't think, I don't think Abernaut, these ears are working. You got to clear your ears, maybe some stuff. That makes no sense what you just said.
Starting point is 01:56:55 So you fault D.C. for doing it. You praise Marvel for doing it. They did a cyclop film. Okay. So let's put it back. And so if you need to hear it again. I know what he's saying. And I'm kind of agreeing with it.
Starting point is 01:57:04 But he's not listening. And neither are you, if you say that. What I'm saying is, if Spider-Man is successful, if the Avengers are successful, if the Avengers are successful, if another Spider-Man is successful, and then the X-Men are successful, that is five successful movies that if you build a character out, then you say,
Starting point is 01:57:22 okay, let's take a shot now after five successful movies, let's take a shot. And if it doesn't work, you've had it read five rows, you tried and you looked at it, and you listened to the, if the character doesn't resonate with people, you don't do it. But if it resonates, I am not faulting DC for doing it because DC hasn't have any fucking wins yet. They had one win with Superman, one win. And now they're back to a loss. So now, here's another, again, like I said.
Starting point is 01:57:47 That is 500. Abernathy, if they do, if they do whatever this movie is that's coming, man at tomorrow and it's a win. Then they do Wonder Woman and it's a win. And then they do Batman and it's a win. And then they do Aquaman and it's a win. And then they do Teen Titans or Deathstroke or whatever. Then that makes sense.
Starting point is 01:58:08 So we're saying the same thing. We're on the same page. So you're wrong. So no one's faulting anybody. Stop doing that. Abernathy always comes in looking for some shit. Stop. Anyway, Howard the Duck's solo movie.
Starting point is 01:58:21 I'm totally in for that one. Let's do it. Anything else? We got anything else? I think so. One more? Want me make another good point? Can we make another good point? Yeah, please, sure, shush your mouth. Joshua Gonzalez, got my tickets. Can't wait for October. Amazing.
Starting point is 01:58:35 So that's really good. I wonder how many tickets are left. I'm not really sure. So for people who are wondering what he is discussing, the broker in Bellmore October 8th myself Mark Ellis Jen Sturger tickets on sale now
Starting point is 01:58:49 they're going fast so make sure you get them sooner than later All right Derek Johnson Why is this so hard? Should have rebooted the DCU and started with the Trinity and then do offshoots I mean why is this so dang complicated
Starting point is 01:59:03 Because I'm with him dude Derek I get what you're saying But in Superman they wanted to start with the big guy. Wonder Woman still had the goodwill of Galgado. You can't. People loved her still. The internet
Starting point is 01:59:19 had not turned on her yet. And Affleck was Batman and the Batman was out. The Affleck was Batman and then was Keaton, but then the Pattinson came out. So it's just like, Wonder Woman and Batman were off the table. Superman was what you had to do. You just did. It was just, it wasn't
Starting point is 01:59:35 they didn't have a clean slate to work from. There still was, you know, you erase a chalkboard and there's still some fucking chalk after you erase it. There was just some fucking chalk from the previous regime. Yeah. And again, the Teen Titans conversation today has been hilarious. But like,
Starting point is 01:59:51 what I'm saying is, I am not telling you guys that I don't think, there are certain movies. I'm like, don't ever do that movie. Who cares? I'm not saying that about Teen Titans. I am saying today, this is the, so as opposed to Abynathy not listening and then
Starting point is 02:00:07 you look at exactly where it was. I just saw a, I saw a, want me to no this is this is perfect dc it doesn't have a proper universe going to do such overtly spinoffy characters is what you're saying i'm saying right now it's just not the time and place i'm gonna i'm gonna give you a good point about your good point to back you up let's say we're in phase one of the mcc and then suddenly they're greenlit the young avengers right right and do good no it's not gonna fucking do good that's exactly that's exactly right thank you You don't do a young, people are clamoring for young Avengers.
Starting point is 02:00:44 People are clamoring for the young Avengers. Like, what am we going to see, Hulkling and this and that? It's like, yeah, now 30 films in and the characters, the older versions are established. You bring them in, you don't do Teen Titans right out the gate. You don't. No. End of discussion. Andrew Sanchez.
Starting point is 02:01:00 Is there any shot that in Guns Deal to become co-CEO DC negotiated directing specific characters such as Superman and Batman, his own take? I'm sure Superman was part of it, but I'm sure. that he's got a certain. He went with his pitch. I think he said his pitch. Yeah. I'll bet he said he's like, you've got to get Superman right. That's what he said. Like you've got to get him right. Oh, right. Booster Gold was a movie they talked about too. What's going on with that? I don't remember that. Cancel that. I can cancel that. I don't give a shit. Right. Comic lover, life's up and down. Thanks for laughs. It helps. I'm glad. I'd like hearing that. Um, thank you guys for being here. Mike, where can the people find you? At Mike,
Starting point is 02:01:41 I've tried to be better on Twitter lately. It hasn't really, it's been better. It's been better. All right. So, hey, hey, let me say something. Yeah, go on say this. All right. I think I'm going to put a pin tweet at the top of my head Twitter.
Starting point is 02:01:54 It's like, guys, if you come across my comments on movies, you know, D.C., whatever, and you don't like what I comment, just move on. The amount of times I'm talking just, like, I talked about He-Man, I just loved it. That's a fucking bomb. Like, I don't give a fuck. And if I see that tweet, that makes me go at them going, fool fuck yourself, you piece of shit. Like, right.
Starting point is 02:02:15 I see people shit through my place all day. I'm like, that's a stupid opinion. I don't like that. I move on. I keep scrolling. Let's fucking scroll. Don't, don't yuck my, what's it? Yeah, but you're yumb.
Starting point is 02:02:27 You're yum. But yeah, don't fucking yuck my yum. But you know, you know what the thing is, I think that people also, people who know you in the same way that I'm sure, like, you know, like Abernathy does it to me too. Like, they know that they're going to get a response. So they. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:40 But if it's someone that follows me and they do stuff like that, I won't go at them. Because I'm like, they follow me. There's a little, whatever respect. If you're coming at my tweet and you don't follow me, fuck you. You get both barrels. Fuck off. All right. Let's say.
Starting point is 02:02:55 We have a couple more. We got a couple more that came in. All right. Maybe do the bat fan. We did that one. Do we do the bad fan one? Why is it so hard? Is that the set?
Starting point is 02:03:08 Wait, I thought we did a few more. Yes. Ioshi, you're not saying it, but I am. Teen Titans is not a draw. PLT just shit himself. Wrong! The actual degree of likelihood is 6.5. Derek Johnson.
Starting point is 02:03:25 Who cares about all the mic? Leadership has to make hard decisions. Everybody isn't going to like all the decisions, but you make them for what's right. Reboot was the right call from a management perspective. Yeah, definitely. 100% is the right call. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:03:39 Johnny B. I'm 100% with you, Christian. DC has no wins. They can't afford to be doing all these movies with secondary characters until they established the Trinity First. I think Superman, I'll tell you why I think Superman was a win. Even though it didn't make $800, 900 million, it's still made money.
Starting point is 02:03:56 That's part one. Part two is it established David Coren's Sweat as a good Superman. And people like them. And people, most people who didn't like Supergirl, were excited when he was. He was great in it. He was great. He's great.
Starting point is 02:04:08 So DC has a win. That's, I don't think that's fair. But this was a major loss. And continuing in your, and for, and for your second movie to fail in general, whatever it might be, is a major loss. So they need to build. Brody Bruce with a big one here, Mike. This could, this might help.
Starting point is 02:04:25 This might help. Could get you potentially to get a win here. What has been D.C.'s problem overall with world building a connected universe overall, not just with this new attempt that Marvel was able to overcome with the start of Ironman moving forward. Was it just changing ownership over the years? I think that that's part of it for sure. It's also, I think the, well, the DCEU was trying to catch up to Marvel too fast in the competition. This is, I think obscure characters and focusing on them is going to be the death of this DCU if they continue to do this. Yeah, okay. So he has said, I think it was recently, I think he was in there saying they were talking about Man of Tomorrow's Half We done filming.
Starting point is 02:05:09 they know the next movie after Man of Tomorrow, but they haven't announced it yet. Okay. They've announced it yet. Okay, I believe you. Yeah. So what do you think it is? And that's going to be...
Starting point is 02:05:19 I think it's going to be this Bain and Death Stroke movie. Oh, fuck, man. Again, I say this is the DC guy. Like, I think we all think Man of Tomorrow is going to do well. I think if they've hyped that right, it will do well. You hope it does better than
Starting point is 02:05:34 what came before it, or at least makes money. Yeah. But the next one after that, if they go, it feels like we're going, boom, and then down, boom. And again, if it's 40 million, if it's a Clayface, then, okay, let's ask yourself, is it a clay face or is it a supergirl? That's the major question. Now, Luke asked the question, is there a fear that the Supergirl box office failure is a sign of how people feel about DC as a whole after they watch Superman. Nah, like I said, I think the marketing and everything else in the decision and the story that they decided to tell which is the wrong one.
Starting point is 02:06:06 And like you said, and this is not right or it's wrong, but did a lot of the discourse around the comments and the people that proliferated it hurt. Like, you know, and I think Safran even came on. I was like, look, we thought we were beyond that discourse and we weren't. Like, he commented on it. Yeah. So. Yeah, it's not. Yeah, it's not.
Starting point is 02:06:26 It's like you got to get people on board. You got to get everybody. Again, not if you're making a $40 million movie. You don't have to get everyone on board. It's the same thing we talk about acolyte. If you would have made an accolade, if you're making, if you're making, if you're making an accolite for $40 million, you can make that show that you made. And if the people who love that show and that everything is awesome, if they love it, then it's a win if you're making it for $40 million. If you're making it for $240 million, you've got to make it for everybody.
Starting point is 02:06:52 It's like you said, Harleff. Like I love Masters of the Universe, but if you're making that movie for $280 million, it's got to be a four quadrant. You got to get everybody. You can't just get the me's of the world. Like Supergirl, you're making $100. 80 million you you're a four quadrant film and you placed it in the summer yeah you can't you got to hit all those audience everybody yeah mich yeah mich yeah that's right baby don't he my haw my hugh big gill studios before titans you need batman yes wonder woman yes flash barry yes aquaman yes green arrow yes to get to dick
Starting point is 02:07:24 donna troy wally west aquil ad and right heart yes i fucking percent thousand percent and if you do it right it will be fucking great. Yes. JL.M.219. What if the next project is a Wonder One Supergirl team up film? No. That wouldn't be smart. Nope. That wouldn't be smart because Supergirl.
Starting point is 02:07:44 By yourself? Yeah. Because the problem is as, I mean, well, I would say 90% of people agree that Millie Alcock was pretty good as Supergirl. Yeah. No one really aside from. Yeah. They weren't complaining about her. Nah.
Starting point is 02:07:58 She's a really good actress. But the problem is it doesn't change the fact. that she's in a stinker when it comes to success. The movie, the movie itself, I don't think it was a stinker. It was forgettable at best, right? Yeah, but it's, it, this movie's got a lot of stink on it right now because of the fact that it was a failure. It's going to, a hundred million dollars.
Starting point is 02:08:19 And she's associated with that right now. So to team her up with a new Wonder Woman, that, that would be, that would be an error. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Guys, it was a good one. Mike, good conversation here today. Thank you for being here as always.
Starting point is 02:08:33 You, buddy. Tomorrow, like I said, I got my writing partner on. We're going to be talking about the show and some other things going on. So please join us for that. Thursday, Chris Carleby here. Friday is Winston. And tomorrow, if everything goes as planned for today, tomorrow I should have my obsession first time watch with Sam on tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:08:55 So make sure you tune in for that. I'm going to be doing my reactions to X-Men. I think that comes out. Is that tomorrow also a PL day? Yeah, I might have to release that later on. I don't know if I'm going to do full reactions to that show moving forward, to be honest. I might just do the two and then call it a day. I don't think they're going to do well.
Starting point is 02:09:14 I think I made an error by doing the first two. Which show? X-Men 97. I'm going to watch it. I really like the show. You don't think you're going to do well? I don't think the reactions are going to do well now. And I think I'm going to give the first two a shot.
Starting point is 02:09:27 If they do well, then I'll continue. I'm not going to. I'll rather just watch them at home. I really like the show. Just watch them and review them. But I will, House of the Dragon is going to be back this on Sunday show. Okay.
Starting point is 02:09:40 C.C. Black says, Gun is going back to MC after contract is up. I think he's going to make his own movies. I think he stays away from the superhero. I think he's going to make his own movies. He's going to have enough money that he's going to be fine. Let's make his own movies and make some originals. Thank you guys.
