Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the big thing. It is Wednesday. And we have a lot of subjects to talk about today. So Matt Argyle? Sure. Matt Vaughn has got Argyll coming out. And he was doing interviews and he said at Deadpool 3 is going to change the whole MCU. Why did he say that? Well, you'll find out. Saturday Night Live, they're doing an origin story. I love that. And they've cast some people already. We'll talk about who got cast as Akroyd, Chevy and a little bit more. Kevin Conroy, the late great legend. Apparently he did some more lines for Batman before his passing.
Starting point is 00:00:36 So we'll talk about that. Assaz Ventris, somehow, she returned. We're going to find out exactly why, how, does it make sense? She's going to be in the bad batch. And we'll see if I like it. I don't know. Supergirl, though, that's the thing we're going to be talking about. Millie Alcock from Game of Thrones.
Starting point is 00:00:55 She got cast as Supergirl. It was down to her and a few others. She won. She got the roll. James Gunn was raving about her. And then Dune, Dune 2, right around the corner. Apparently Dune 3 is getting fast-tracked, and it makes sense to me. I'm excited for it.
Starting point is 00:01:13 You're brand new to the channel. You've never been here before. Hit that button, man. Subscribe. We're almost at $123,000. We're trying to get to 200 fast, but we need you guys to help. So make sure you do that. Like, comment, subscribe on Apple Podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Spotify anywhere podcasts are found but it is the big thing it's me it's Mike and Steph they're all here everybody's here let's do it hello everybody welcome back it is the big thing it is Wednesday the crew is back Steph Sabra
Starting point is 00:01:50 looking like a trance DJ I like it I know I like it's kind of xenon I like it I like what you're doing and then you got Mike Kalanowski Mike did you ever play top 10 in when you guys were a team? I know you played a... Who was on that team? Nost and Roka.
Starting point is 00:02:08 No, we didn't. Okay. No. Yeah, they were broken up already. I asked that because I saw Argyle last night and Sam Rockwoods reminds me to know so much. Oh, God, yeah. So much. I mean, not even... I like Matt Nost. Yeah, me too. I was always in the room with them whenever they were playing. I like that kid. He's a good guy. He's funny as hell, but he...
Starting point is 00:02:23 But he's got the same freaking personality, and I watched it with Snyder. And I said to Snyder at one point, I was like, this is like, quintessential Nost. Like if Nose was in a Matthew Vaughn movie, it would be this movie. Okay. So, yeah, I saw that movie last night. I put my review on it. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:02:43 It's fine. It's fine. It's like, you know, so I think some people are going to really enjoy it. It's a little too crazy for me, and I like some crazy movies. But I should say it's not, it's not, that's not why I dislik it or didn't love it. It's because I just felt, and I said this many times over, I just felt like the tone never really got where I wanted it to get. Oh. It was like, I was rooting for it to get to that special kind of spark.
Starting point is 00:03:03 it never hit it. And it's two hours and 20 minutes long. It's too long. It's too long. Is Duleepa a big role? She's not. She's not a big role, but she's one of my positives in the movie. Okay. I couldn't tell if this was going to be her big acting debut. I don't know if it's necessarily a big acting debut, but I can say she delivers them what she's asked to do. I'm always the old guy out, I guess, and like Dupalipa. Dupa. Dupa. I was like, I didn't know who she is or whatnot, but then I would see her. Yeah. And I'd become mesmerized. Yeah. Yeah. She's amazing. And all she does is like a jiggle and she sings in the sin.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I'm like. She's also very, very. Jesus. But she's also very, she doesn't, like, I went to the Critics Choice Awards and I, you know, people watch and I see certain people talking to, whether it's people in their circle, their peers or just the critics are walking around. She was one of the most welcoming people out of everybody. Massive star talking to kids, bringing people out like nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I saw other people. Won't mention any. It just couldn't be. father, right? Tirds is what we can call. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't stand that crap. Terts. But, come on. But not her. Not her. No, not her. She was, she was, I mean, if I didn't know because she's so, A, so stunning, B, such a massive star, I'd be like, oh, who's that person just talking everybody? Right. She's a superstar. Superstar. And she's talking everybody. I know she, this is, who knows if this is it, but she is one of the stars that stays very close with her family.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I guarantee you that's it. I guarantee you that's it. You know who I bring up every time someone says that is Shola Medveduinal. Oh yeah, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. His mom is basically, I don't care how big you get. He's still mowing the lawn. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:46 And like, and he, since he was 17, I first met him. And that absolutely has a big deal. So that doesn't surprise me at all that you said that. But she is really good in the movie. She really doesn't know she was in the movie. She's not in very long, but when she is in, it. So much so, I was like, I'd like to see her in a Bond movie.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Like, I think she'd be great. She was definitely giving those vibes. Yeah, for sure. But anyway, I think that the movie's going to be a mixed bag. I think some people are going to love it. I think some people are going to feel like I did. I read two reviews back to back last night. They're very different.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Roka. Yeah. Wasn't for him. And then the next one was like, oh, my God. And like, the points that Roka couldn't stand, this guy loved. Who was it? Do you remember? Scott Menzel.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Oh. No, or Mendelson. No, not him. Oh, it was Menzel? Menzell. Okay. And he was just like, Bryce Dells Howard's chemistry is fantastic.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Everyone was like, she's a wet fart. Yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I know,
Starting point is 00:05:38 I know men's so well. And I like Scott, but I'm usually, I'm usually not on the same page as him. I usually am on the page with him. Yeah. That's why I like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:05:46 okay. We just, his taste kind of run to what I like. Okay. So, anyway, movies out now. Judge for yourself,
Starting point is 00:05:53 or it's going to be on Friday. So judge for yourself. We got a lot of other things, but before we do, um, I was excited. The other day was at Christmas, and both Steph and Mike just saw these today. So Wicked Art, who you guys have seen, we've done the intro to Capes and Cowles and when we do Sith Council, but this is the Capes and Cowles comic book.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Let me see if we can pull it all the way back here. And I'm going to show a little bit more of it. But Steph, she can show that one that you've got. Yeah. It is so cool. Yeah, isn't it? It's amazing. And then Big Balls.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Big Balls is there, too. Look at those things. Wait, here I am. Here I am. Here I am. That's you, baby. Look, it's you. Where's the one with me and you?
Starting point is 00:06:31 Come out. Where's me and you? Okay, wait, let me find the big walls. Don't steal my voice. Wait a second. This is my character. Where are you at? Look at this badass shot.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Oh, yeah. Look at this thing. You talk about action pose. Look at this thing. That's what they said to me. That's like in Miami. Look at that thing. That's some wall art right there, baby.
Starting point is 00:06:47 It's really good. Look at that thing. Is that you? That's me. Oh, that's really cool. So all of these, by the way, I'm going to put the link. You can actually purchase the hard copies for them. But all the new issues come in.
Starting point is 00:06:59 to Patreon when they're released and what we're going to do is we're going to do like a full on read through and I'm going to play on Capes and Cal's I'm going to play the music over it and we're going to do everybody's voices I mean there's everybody from the crew is in on a PLD even makes an appearance which is amazing
Starting point is 00:07:15 PLD. So you can check it out. I'll put the link in the description to get the Capes and Cal's comic book all issues are there. This is so cool. It's really great. I am so cool cool in here. You are one of the best characters. Holy shite. Yeah. I I think Wicked Arts a fan.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Wow. Who isn't? Who isn't? True. Thank you. Thank you. So, love it.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Go and check it out. You can get it. It's links in the description. All right. Let's move to the first story of the days. Days, days on end. Mike? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Millie Alcock. Yep. She is. Supergirl. Cast as Supergirl. It was down to her and a few other peeps, but I thought it was going to be the girl from zombies because I figured they'd want to try to get away from
Starting point is 00:07:56 some of a little more. That girl? Not I zon. There's a, I forget the girl's name, but, so she was, my kids watched this Disney movie called Zombies, and she was like the lead in that. And I asked my, my, my, the little one yesterday. I said, say, hey, hey, Maisie, what's the main character's name of zombies? And she goes, Addison? And I go Madison. She goes, Addison. And I go, oh, Addison. So, so she played Addison, I guess. But I thought that she was going to get it because minus me, yeah, from knowing for my kids, she's kind of unknown as where Millie Alcock was. Game of Thrones or House of Dragons. But from what James Gunn says,
Starting point is 00:08:34 this read was just next level and that she was really, really phenomenal. So here's the story itself. New Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, the details revealed as Millie Alcock prepares to play a more edgy girl of steel. And that's why she was cast. No, for real.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I thought if they were going to go for them a wholesome one, then she wouldn't be cast, but it's kind of playing on brand here. More James Gunny. Yeah, which I don't know if I love, and we'll talk about that in a second, but we'll talk about it a second. Some new details on the close contest between both Millie Alcock and Meg Donnelly to land the role of Supergirl have come to light as James Gunn looks to introduce a more edgy take on the hero. The news broke earlier this week that Millie Alcock has landed the role of the DCU's new take on Supergirl after emerging as a top contender alongside Meg Donnelly. And now we have a few details on James Gunn's casting process along with a better.
Starting point is 00:09:28 idea of what to expect from this latest live action incarnation of the Girl of Steel. According to Variety, Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO. Peter Saffron flew multiple actors to the Superman legacy set in Atlanta for screen tests with Alcock and Donnelly and possibly others, donning the Supergirl suit and boots for their auditions. Though it was said to be a close contest, Alcock won the part and will suit up as a less earnest and more edgy version of the iconic super heroine as Gunn looks to move away from previous depictions of the Girl of Steel, particularly the long-running CBS-CW series gun, revealed that he actually had Alcock in mind to play Supergirl since seeing her performance in House of Dragon. Millie was the first
Starting point is 00:10:08 person I brought up to Peter for this role over a year ago when I only had read the comics. I was watching House of the Dragon. I thought she might have the edge, grace, and authenticity that we need. Variety also mentions his story will follow Kara as she travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Crypto, the Super Dog. That's that true? Yeah, Crypto. That's true. There's a character called crypto. I'm not liking what I'm reading here.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Along the way... Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruth and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge. Okay, it's worth noting that this is the premise of Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow Comics, so the movie could take a few changes. Actress and playwright Anna Noghira is currently working on the woman tomorrow's script, but the project does not currently have a director, but we should find out he'll be helming the movie in the coming weeks.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Gun and Saffron announced the Supergirl reboot during the studio Press Day in January of last year when Gods and Monsters D.C.U. Slate was revealed. Gunn also said in our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed
Starting point is 00:11:14 in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She's much more hardcore, she's not exactly a supergirl we're used to seeing. I don't know. I don't know. Mike, I'll give my thoughts after this. What do you think? First thoughts when I heard this casting was, did I miss the fact that there's no director yet? I think it's weird just from a casting standpoint that you're casting a character for a movie that you're not directing.
Starting point is 00:11:39 But maybe that's Gunn's way of now like he's going to cast all the characters. And then to the people brought in, like, okay, I cast my guy. This is who you have because I created the world. And who knows what's going to work or not? I'm just used to the old traditional way of the writer and the director are together in the room. And of course, he would be there with his input. but it's like, she's like, it's my choice, you know? But, you know, Patty Jenkins inherited Galgadoo,
Starting point is 00:12:02 but they developed an incredible working relationship. Good point. Because Snyder was the guy that cast Mamoa, Ezra, and all these people, and they all from there. So I don't know. Who knows? But I think it's, but he's saying there's a director's going to be a few weeks, so clearly they've got it.
Starting point is 00:12:15 They know who the directors. I think the ink is drying on the contracts and they're, I'll bet the director was in the room. Maybe. I have less, I mean, Millie Alcock is great. She's great. House of the Dragon and she's going to be great. I'm sure the audition was great.
Starting point is 00:12:30 And for what this take is, Steph, she's going to nail it. My concern is less about Millie Alcock being cast and more of the initial, I don't say hesitation, but definitely like maybe concern that I have when they announced that gun was going to be in charge of all this. Is everything going to be edgy now? And very well might be, but is everything going to be gun flavored or is it just, I guess Superman's got to be gun flavored. But is...
Starting point is 00:12:57 Does he, though? I mean, he hasn't said Superman's going to be edgy. All the characters surrounding him are going to have the gun flavor. And look, Gun's funny. And he's his last couple things that I love the suicide squad. I love Peacemaker. I loved the other one that he did. Guardians.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Guardians three. So I loved all those movies. But is it because they said it's not the traditional Supergirl you've seen? We've seen one Supergirl movie with Helen Slater in 1983. I know. He's talking about... But he's... But that's not...
Starting point is 00:13:25 She's been Supergirl. girl though for the past. Sure. Sure. For a television, for a television audience, but you know as well as I do, they're different audiences. But look at how many people are like, Ezra for the Flash, why wasn't Ezra in the movie? And people are like, are you kidding me? But there was a massive fan base that
Starting point is 00:13:40 was like Ezra should have been in this, or Guston should have been in the movie, Guston should have been the Flash. They weren't even, they weren't even, we just had we just had Daniel Panamaker on Katie's show. And she actually talked about how, Katie asked her about the Flash. And she was like, they didn't even tell us.
Starting point is 00:13:56 they were doing the movie. But let me talk to this. But let me ask Steph. So does the edginess, does that concern you at all whatsoever? What are your thoughts on Millie Alcocka Supergirl? What do you say? I happen to love gun style.
Starting point is 00:14:12 I do too. Yeah, it's so for me. So I'm not opposed to seeing an entire universe that has that. When I see something like Suicide Squad, I'm like, oh, I would watch an entire series based on all of these characters. So it's For me, what concerns me is that that movie's not for everyone.
Starting point is 00:14:30 So it could really, but people are going to be divided either way. But I think that we did kind of see an edgier supergirl in The Flash. I do think she was edgy. Yeah, she was definitely edgy. And I loved her. I would have not, I would have been so for her being cast. But I do love her, Millie as well. Yeah, me too.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And I just, I guess because this is what we said on Capes and Cowls the other day. If they're going for like a darker, edgier supergirl, then it's going to be Millie Alcock, but if they're going to go to the traditional kind of old school way, it's going to be the other girl. And clearly they're going for the edgier side of it. The thing that I was like, and you know this better than I do, I can't, I mean, I've seen crypto, the super dog in that DC, the super pets, which I liked, but it's a good animated film for kids.
Starting point is 00:15:15 There's a super dog in the Supergirl movie to start. Isn't that risky? And she's pissed off and she's, and so what's John Wick with the dog, but the dog doesn't die? because it's got superpowers? What's happening? So it's basically the dog from Guardian's theory?
Starting point is 00:15:30 Yeah, Cosmo or whatever? Yeah, which I liked her. Yeah, I guess. But that was earned for the third movie, I think. But do you start your Supergirl movie with the Super Dog? It's definitely a swing.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Yeah. And they didn't say that they were going to do that. They said it could definitely be, that said that's just what the comic book had her doing. So I don't know. Do you think it's a risk
Starting point is 00:15:51 to put, you know, a super dog in there right away, especially when you're doing an edgy Supergirl? No, it's a comics. But for mass audiences, not comic books. I know, I know, I know, but it's, he's such behind the eight ball right now, him and the D.C. what they're dealing. They have to hit these out of the park.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Yeah. But I think it's his Superman's going to come first, you know, and depending on how that goes. But I think, you know, if it's done well, you just go along with it. He doesn't talk. It's not like a talking dog. It's not, okay. It's just, no, it doesn't talk. He talks in the... As far as I know, I mean, I can be completely wrong,
Starting point is 00:16:31 but as far as I know, the crypto that I've always read, he doesn't, Superman understands him, but he doesn't talk. Okay. Like Captain Marvel's cat. Yeah, it's like, I don't think... Yeah, like, I don't think he talks. I'm trying to remember. I don't think crypto talks.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I don't remember. It's been a while, I don't even know. I've read a comic with him. I mean, honestly, I've heard of crypto, and I'd seen him in the animated movie, which I really enjoyed. I understand, though, if he's going... the reason we're edgy, but I think his
Starting point is 00:16:56 Superman is going to be very earnest. I think it's going to be an old school Ashuk's Superman. So the contrast between the two of them, with him, her being his cousin, and her pistol because she's living on this rock. If they were both like, hey, everything's good, it's like, no, she's got this kind of edge where he's more like, no, no, this is how it is on earth. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Well, Helen Slater was a bit of edgyer, too. Wasn't she? I mean, I haven't seen it so damn long. I don't remember. No, she was kind of there. She was, she was, her and, and Reeve were cut from the same cloth, so to speak. Because I didn't see it. I'm not sure. But what I will say from hearing this, though, it does seem to me, because people weren't sure, like,
Starting point is 00:17:32 what's coming out next after Superman, and I do think that this is the right play. If they set up Melanie Alcock to show up in Superman, which it seems like they're definitely going to do, and then the next movie after Superman is Supergirl. That's great. It makes a lot of sense. It's like Superman,
Starting point is 00:17:49 Supergirl. Now they both establish these two Kryptonians. That's what I thought when they announced, I was like, oh, she's in Superman. Yeah, and that's why he's casting her. Right. So yeah. Yeah. So it makes a lot of sense that she would then show up in that if she has a really great scene and
Starting point is 00:18:03 everybody's like, holy crap. She's great. We need to see a movie with her. Then that's going to build you. He's got a writer a really great scene and legacy though. I just think he's doing everything he needs to win people over because she looks like the comics. Every person he's cast. And again, I don't-
Starting point is 00:18:19 This is a great, I know this is AI, whatever it is, but I mean that- Right, I was gonna say that. She looks pretty good. That looks sick. You know, and I loved Sasha Callie. Yeah, me too. I loved her in the flash. Kaye, I loved her in the flesh.
Starting point is 00:18:29 But a different version of her. Didn't look like anything we've seen before. But I think every casting he's done is spot onto the comics. That's cool. He cast really. And you need to do that because... It's interesting because he is going into this with the universe with an entire section of fandom that every day is hating in him for everything.
Starting point is 00:18:50 They're blaming him right now for the suicide squad game. what they did do certain characters in the game like oh my gun came in and it's his mandate I was like oh my God
Starting point is 00:18:59 the hate that this guy's getting so you know he's just gonna line it up and make his movie and he's you can't complain because they look like the comics and that's the thing
Starting point is 00:19:09 that I want to make very clear is that to me I go I don't I don't know edgy I'm not sure I'm not attached to it enough to her say if it turns up
Starting point is 00:19:16 because like you said Steph I the style and the thing when he hits I'm on board right so I just do get nervous for certain properties
Starting point is 00:19:25 call for his humor. I think peacemaker called for his humor. The Suicide Squad called for it. Guardians called for it. But he can get carried away with his humor sometimes. If you look at Guardians too, he gets carried away. Funny jokes, but everybody had a joke. Everybody.
Starting point is 00:19:40 And it's like, I don't want to see a bunch of jokes all the damn time with every freaking movie when you don't need to do that. Like, Jimmy Olson will be there to tell jokes, right? They'll have people in Superman to tell jokes. Superman better not be cracking jokes. I'm telling you that right now. And the same thing with Supergirl, she's going to be edgy.
Starting point is 00:19:59 But who knows? He does do edgy well. I don't know. It goes so far. Like, it only goes so far. Like, I cannot stand. I do not like, I shouldn't say that, the holiday special. I love that holiday special.
Starting point is 00:20:13 The Guardian special. No. He took me. I felt Mantis and Drax became Goofs. I'm going to be nice. And they became like, when did you devolve? mentally to whatever this was.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Like, you're crashing through a door. Like, you've been on Earth for years. You know how doors work. Like, it was just joke after joke after joke. I understand that. But then Guardians 3 comes out, and I'm just like, the sincerity of the characters and everything is just so much better. It's just like, and that came out after.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I think it's fair. I think it really was just a holiday special. You know what I mean? I get it. Maybe it was just like, hey, we're going to do, this is my Star Wars. We're going to make it as stupid as possible. It's exactly what it was.
Starting point is 00:20:51 It wasn't for me. I didn't know me. I'm an easy. audience. On Christmas. I'm an easy audience, but it just did not land for me. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:56 You didn't like the Kevin Bacon stuff? No. Oh, no. I loved it. Nah. I really love that. But Guardians three. And I thought it was funny as I went into it with that mentality.
Starting point is 00:21:03 I thought I was going to hate it. And I run it really good movie. Guardians did my favorite movie last year. I think me too. More than across? More than what? Across Spider-Verse? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I like Guardians better. I've watched Guardians a couple times already. I haven't watched across again yet. Guardians isn't my top five of the year. It just hit it. They just closed that trilogy so. It was so good. It was a little bit more emotional for me.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I liked the Spider-Verse movie a lot. But it's also clearly a part two. Yeah, I was just like, oh, come on, what's going on here? I wanted more. Anyway. So what do you think about Millie Al-Qa-Qaeda guys? Do you think this is the good cast? What do you think about the fact that we're going edgy was Supergirl?
Starting point is 00:21:41 I want to know. So hit that button. Tell me exactly what you think. Will she have a British accent? In it? I don't know. That would be kind of cool. Is she from?
Starting point is 00:21:51 She has a British accent. And House of Dragon, right? Yeah, House of Dragon. But they rarely hire a non-British person to do British. It's true. I've never seen a single episode of any of those Game of Thrones stuff. It's not for me either. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:04 And I was a Game of Thrones person. I'm not a House of Dragon. Oh, you finished the whole thing? No, I couldn't. You know, I Wikipedia did. Oh, you got to finish it. I can't. It's too devastating.

Starting point is 00:26:03 You're excited if you need some blue chute before you get out of here? Give me some. Okay. I'll take it. All right. I'm older. Why not? It has nothing to do with that.
Starting point is 00:26:10 It's nothing to do with age. It's not one of those as you get older? No, no, no. It's just for anyone? It's just, I'm telling you, you're a wedding night? Hey, man, I'm telling you, I'll give you, I'll give you, I'll give you, I'll you some. Give it to me now. I'll take it home. Next week, I'll tell you how it went. Okay. Well, then we won't see Shannon for a little bit. That's okay. Shannon will be so
Starting point is 00:26:28 happy. That's all right. All right, listen. Happy girl is a happy home. Her three Fs. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I've had enough. That's right. I've had enough of this. All right, here we go. Here's the next one. Dune two, baby. The director and the cast tease the plans for the third movie. We're all super enthusiastic about that. Dune, part two, director, Deney Villeneuve, says, that, excuse me, and stars Timothy Shalameh and Zendaya have all shared their thoughts on turning the duology into a trilogy with all signs pointing to Dune Messiah happening. Filmmaker Deneva Leneu has made no secret of the fact that he's keen to adapt Dune Messiah creating a trilogy of Dune movies which fully do author Frank Herbert's ambitious science
Starting point is 00:27:10 fiction tale justice on screen. While the first movie suffered at the box office because it was released in theaters and on streaming at the same time, Warner Brothers is clearly confident in the science fiction franchise's longevity, explaining why we're getting both this marches sequel and Max's Dune's sisterhood spinoff series. Talking to Total Film, Villanouc said that while Dune and Dune Port 2 form a complete story, the latter's heartbreaking conclusion will set the stage for another movie to conclude the trilogy. All the elements are there, he says, but I think the movie adaptation is more tragic than
Starting point is 00:27:42 the book, the way that Part 2 ends, it would create a total balance and equilibrium to finish Paul's storyline in what we could say in part 3, while a third installment is being bound to hinge on the success of the second. It sounds like the filmmaker won't have any trouble tempting back his A-list cast. Deney is an artist and doesn't like to share things until he's got to figure out, Zendaya says. So whenever he's ready, we're all keenly ready to hear what the vision is. Chalamey says, the idea excites me very much. If the time and opportunity comes to complete the story with Messiah, I think we're all super enthusiastic about it.
Starting point is 00:28:11 Dune, have you seen part one? Oh, yeah. Okay, you've seen part one. I love it. Did you see part one yet? No. Well, it was during the pandemic, came out in the theater, and I wanted to see in the theaters, and I just didn't get around to it. I should have taken you last week. We went and saw it in the theater last week.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I'm curious. Go ahead. Because there's this big swelling for this movie in the sequel. And the first one didn't do well. Well, it didn't bomb. It just got hit because they put it in day and did it. But you can't really judge, you know. It's like Blade Runner to me.
Starting point is 00:28:44 They're these heady, oh, God. What's the word I used? Curious? No, it, heady. Involved? God, I'm going to... Cerebral? Not cerebral, it's getting close, but...
Starting point is 00:28:55 Oh, God, not haughty. That's not the word I'm looking for. Detailed? You guys talk, I'll figure it out here. I know what you're saying. I know what he's trying to... It's complex. Keep talking the two of you.
Starting point is 00:29:07 I'm going to be off here and myself coming up with this word. All right, Billy. So this movie, I went and saw it in the theater. Again. I've never seen... That's it. I got it. Pretension.
Starting point is 00:29:17 sci-fi. That's what I call pretentious sci-fi. It's not pretty. You've seen it. It's a stupid... One of the greatest novel to all time. Dune. So you don't like Star Wars? That's not... You can't compare Star Wars and Dune. Star Wars was based off a Dune. I wouldn't say pretentious. I think... Star Wars was the right word.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Flash Gordon and Dune are two vastly different sci-fi properties. And Flash Gordon. He was a massive, massive fan of the novel of Dune and he absolutely based on. Of course. And I'm not saying pretentious in a bad way. You can see. You can see it.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I'm not saying start. I'm not saying pretentious in a bad way. It's more complex. It's just very haughty, very, you know, it, it's not, it, you have to be invested in watching it. It's a thinking man. So, you haven't read the books? So like I said five minutes ago, cerebral? Cerebral, it is.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Yeah. The books, I have to, it takes me a long time to read those books because they're so, it, the world building is, it's like Tolkien. You're like, what the hell. Yeah, it's very involved. It's almost like you're reading history. Totally. A whole new world. Dune and Blade Runner 2049 in my watch list for HBO Max, and they've been there since they've been on the series, and I just don't get to them.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I don't know why. It's really crazy. I know. But I just, they're awesome. And I went and I didn't, so I did not like the David Lynch movie. Why not? It didn't work for me. It was, it wasn't the story.
Starting point is 00:30:37 It just was, he was the story, the way he told the same exact story was just too. Did you watch the TV show with James McAvoy? Didn't even know there was one. Yeah. There was a dude TV show. Yeah. Slyfax Channel was a young James McAvoy.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Didn't even know that. I totally believe you. But I wanted to see it because I did see it on my screen when it came out. And then I was like, well, it's coming out in IMAX for a re-release.
Starting point is 00:31:01 I have to see it. So Winston had never seen it. So I took Winston, the two of us went, we both loved it. I felt like I was watching it again for the first time. Right, because it's been a while.
Starting point is 00:31:09 It's been a, it's 2021 is when it came out. So I loved it and really, they showed a scene from Dune 2, and then they showed like an extended preview for two right afterwards and it just looks so good
Starting point is 00:31:21 but I'm so glad they're going to continue on and do a third one. I think that the second one is going to crush. So to answer your question, the first movie cost 160 to make. Did for the amount of screens that it was in and because of the pandemic
Starting point is 00:31:35 when you look at the numbers, it decent right? But the second movie only costs 120. No way. Because they shot a lot of the second one with the first. So very smart in how they did that. They use their budget. So essentially, both movies are going to cost close to $300 million production budgets.
Starting point is 00:31:53 To one Indiana Jones. Yeah, not anything. And then, yeah, and less, and still less, two movies still less than the last Fast and Furious movie. Tees. So anyway, they are already breaking the website. People are buying tickets already for this one. It comes out March 1st. It's going to be the first real big movie of the year.
Starting point is 00:32:17 So I think we're definitely going to see a third one. I'm very excited about the Macs series because that's like a thousand years before. Totally. So. Yeah, I love this world so much. And I feel like somehow Timothy and Zendaya have become bigger stars than they already were. Right. And they are, we always talk about this, like who still has star power where you go to the theater.
Starting point is 00:32:37 They do. Like the fact that Wonka did numbers is I think Timothy Shalameh. 100%. And I'll tell you why. I don't know if I would have 100% agreed with. you two weeks ago I would say that has something to do with it I think you are absolutely right because I was trying to get my kids to watch walk I have the screener for it at the screener I was trying to get them to watch it during the
Starting point is 00:32:59 holidays we can all watch it it it would be family movie I'd seen it already and they didn't want to watch it and my youngest one I finally said all right led she just wanted to go to the movies so you want to see walk in the movie she said great but my oldest was what do you guys going to see and I said Wanka she's like oh Timothy Chalamas I'll go right yeah she's like and so that she's She said everybody in her school, Timothy Shalema, Timothy Shalema, Timothy Shalmay, Timothy Shalma. And he really is, and when I've come around on that movie even more so. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:26 He is really charming in that film. He is, and then you go and you see what he does in Dune. Right. Very good in that movie. Zendaya is also another one who you said Star Power Growing. She's in that new movie, the game changers or something like that. Changers. It's changers.
Starting point is 00:33:41 I think that's what it's, something like that. It's about the tennis pro. Yeah, yeah. I just heard that it was anticipated. then I saw the trailer for it and I was like that looks good. Right. And I wouldn't really care about that story if you pitched it to me, but I'm like, I will see her in really anything.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Right. It's like that whole euphoria cast just has the power right now. Right. And Timothy's like the new, and when I was in high school is Robert Pattinson because that was the Twilight era. But he has like that Justin Bieber effect for girls. I know what you mean? I know.
Starting point is 00:34:11 I think he's got more clout as far as the, because Patinson has done something extraordinary and I'm glad that he is he did because he I remember Winston was on Collider Live and they were talking about Pattinson as Batman and that was about you the whole time they were talking about Pattinson they were talking about Pattinson on on his Batman and I remember I had seen him in Rover I had seen him in these other things Winston had not he's like you can't cast the Twilight guy good times yeah they can't cast the Twilight guy I'm like dude have you seen him in these movies yeah and he's like No, but he's at Twilight. And the Twilight audience loved him.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Right. Started really getting the buzz from, call me by your name. Yeah. Or my name, whatever that's called. Giss me if you know me. Perfect. And so he's been, he has been in the public, he did the Greta Gerwig movie, the little women.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Right. So he's starting, he's really starting to show himself more as just, just than the heartthrob guy. He's a really good guy. And he's funny too, by the way. Did you see him in that Saturday Night Live thing? Yes. He's one of my favorite S&L guests. He was so, the one he did with Pete Davidson.
Starting point is 00:35:19 It's the best. It's so great. Stupid scream that he does. It's so good. And he's like Tom Holland where they did that sing-along show where they both can dance and sing. Right. And it's so charming because you think they're like going to be too cool for school guys and they're not. And he does, he really does know how.
Starting point is 00:35:38 And that's and what he does with Paul Trades is great because it's a different. he's able to do this thing where he is everywhere, but you still see him at these characters. I saw him as Paul in Dune. I saw him as Wanka. A different version of Wauk. You mean he's an actor? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:35:53 So he creates... No, no, no, no. No, no. That's a dumb thing coming from you, especially when you've made this point, that you've looked on the screen and gone, that's Leonardo DiCaprio. That's someone.
Starting point is 00:36:06 I see them they're a good actor, but I don't see past... No, no, no. I'm giving him a compliment that the actor can lose. himself in a role and we don't see the actor anymore. Right. Him.
Starting point is 00:36:16 But I'm saying, but not every actor can do it. No, of course not. You know what I think if Doreena's going to kill me? What? Go ahead. I think he's the our generation's Johnny Depp. Oh,
Starting point is 00:36:26 that might be that. It might be too soon, but wait for it. He's on that path. Maybe. Where he has range. Johnny Depp, I think Johnny Depp was cooler, though.
Starting point is 00:36:37 But this generation is cool. To their generation is cool. I understand what you're saying. But he's not. But, yeah, I get it. There was a different thing than we were younger. I know. I know, I know.
Starting point is 00:36:47 He was 80s cool. Yeah, that's a whole. I know, you're right. You're right. That's a, like a cool, cool. I agree. We're never going to get that back now. Not like that.
Starting point is 00:36:54 No. No, this is more, yeah. This is like more skinny jeans. Yes, yes. Like, could be sick. Yeah, right. Right. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Anyway, so what do you think about Dune 3? Do you think that is something that should happen? Could happen. I don't know. Are you excited to hear what you guys think about that? Very excited to hear what you guys think about that. All right, next one. All right, speaking of Saturday Night Live,
Starting point is 00:37:15 Saturday Night Live, 1975, cast its acroid and Chase. I heard they cast more, but maybe not. Jason Reitman is doing this. I didn't know that. Did you know that stuff? No. Saturday Night Live 1975,
Starting point is 00:37:27 which offers a look at the real life behind-the-scenes events of the opening night of Saturday Night Live has cast most of its major roles. Who's playing George Carlin? New additions today... No, he's the first host. No, I know. Of course. New editions today include Dylan O'Brien,
Starting point is 00:37:42 who will play Dan Aykroyd, Corey Michael Smith, who plays Chevy Chase, Matt Wood as John Belushi, and Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris. Oh, damn. They join an ever-expanding cast that includes Gabriel Lebel as Lorne Michaels, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Arbersoll,
Starting point is 00:37:59 Ella Hunt as Gilda Ratner, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, and Emily Fairn as Lorraine Newman. Wrightman and Gil Cannon pen the script, which details what happened in the moments leading up to the first broadcast as a troop of young comedians and writers, television forever.
Starting point is 00:38:13 The script is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted with all the living cast members, writers, and crew. Reitman, Kenon, Jason Blumfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice are producing. SNL itself is currently in the midst of its 49th season. Filming is expected to get underway shortly. This is one of my most anticipated movies in a very long time. I love the original Saturday Night Live cast. I love the story.
Starting point is 00:38:42 You want drama? This movie's going to have it. The bumping of the heads. I just watched a full documentary on the, it was a Showtime one that they did on Belushi. I think it was coming back from New York. I remember where I was going, but I watched this thing they did on Showtime at Bluci,
Starting point is 00:38:59 and they had a lot of this stuff in there, and everything Belushi was going through, how they recruited everybody. They're probably not going to do that if this is the first night of the show itself, but to watch everything that goes, down and to see how that all builds.
Starting point is 00:39:13 You know they're going to make Chevy Chase just like the worst. You know they're going to make them look like totally. You're a big Saturday Night Live person. Massive Saturday Night Live person and I'm one of the younger fans who has seen all the original
Starting point is 00:39:27 too. Yeah, it's so Cheapy burger, cheapa, cheapa, cheapa, cheapa. The best, best. Too wild and crazy guys and Gilda is just one of my top five ever. She's so great. And I, this is so exciting. And when I, I, I didn't find out until like a few years ago, all of the drama that they had. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's just like you, you see them laughing and perfect on set.
Starting point is 00:39:49 And you would have no idea that these aren't best friends. Yeah, Chevy Chase and, and Belushi had gotten into fights and all these things. And yeah, it was, and they're probably absolutely Dylan O'Brien and then whoever they cast as Belushi. No, no, Belushi. Because they'll, they'll have to have good chemistry, obviously. Yeah. Those guys were like. For besties. Yeah. Yeah, it's interesting also because Chevy Chase is one of the only ones who, and Dan Aykroyd is still here with us.
Starting point is 00:40:17 But I think Chevy Chase is probably fine with everyone knowing. You mean that of the four top there? Yeah. Because Lorraine Newman's still around. Okay, yeah. But Gilda and Belushi. Yeah, just the top four. But he is so known as a dick now that I'm wondering how concerned he is about how this is going to make him love.
Starting point is 00:40:37 There's enough books out there. He does not. He's just had to, that ship was sailed. I'm sure. But do you care about this at all? Well, there you go. We got our answer. Yeah, I guess so.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Hey, man, I was Saturday Live every night, the 80s and 90s. Like, even as a kid, it was Hans and Franz, you know. Pump you out. Church lady. Like, the heyday of it. And then, I can't remember the last time I tuned into it. I catch now like, hey, so and so this was a hysterical scene. But the first night.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I think it's a good premise for a movie. I'm just always torn about those early years with those guys. Like the reverence for Belushi that everyone has, but then I never found him funny. Oh, my God. Let me say why. It was always like, we've all got that one friend that we let do stupid shit and around us. We're like, that's hysterical.
Starting point is 00:41:27 But everyone else comes in and you're like, who's this fucking guy? Just showing up and like, you hear the stories of them not being professional, like, about like showing up on time and stuff. And as a performer, for me, a huge. thing is these actors that show up on time sure and there's people but that didn't happen but that didn't happen until later on down the line I don't give a shit I'll show up whatever well that that wasn't necessarily what happened a bullet shoot he he started down the line he was starting to get really like you're talking about like the 80 like 80s well he was
Starting point is 00:41:56 getting really jacked up on coke and stuff yeah you ruined your legacy though he wasn't when they were when it was pushing when it was pushing to him um to be like the star because chevi was gone all this like that he he yeah He definitely got himself into a lot of problems with problems with that. But he was beforehand, he was pretty straight before he started getting into the coke stuff. Maybe that we'll show it this movie. Well, he's pretty messed up, I think, by the time they started. But he was on time.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Anyway, the point is. They'll have a Steve Martin, too, right? Well, Steve Martin wasn't a real cast member, though. No, I know, but he was just like always. But I don't think he was there for day one. This is the first night. But they got to have George Carlin. George Carlin was the first host, you know.
Starting point is 00:42:35 That's great. That'll be such a fun little role. I would love to see someone. It's not an easy role. They're going to do a George Carlin biopic, and they still, you got to cast. I mean, that one, I'm going to be the most critical at anything. I think a lot of people. Let me ask you guys this. Do you think they are going to prosthetic everyone to look like that, or are they just going to go,
Starting point is 00:42:56 we're embodying the spirit of these characters or are they going to do prosthetics? Nah. You don't think so? No, I don't think so. Because Dylan O'Brien, and I love Dylan O'Brien, doesn't look anything like, again accurate. Don't forget, Dan Akrod was really super skinny. Oh, I know. I know that.
Starting point is 00:43:12 But they look nothing alike. I think if you put him in that wild and crazy guy's outfit and more so, I think there's going to be a little prosthetic stuff going on a little nose, a little brow, a little I'm not mad about prosthetics. No, I think they're so good with makeup now. Yes. It looks like you can't tell. I know I'm not saying like the Bradley Cooper decision was right, wrong, whatever.
Starting point is 00:43:32 I haven't even seen the movie yet. But I will say, I can't even tell that's a fake nose. I love it. I really can't. The makeup is amazing. I just saw who Gilda got cast. And I'm sure that they won't really change much, but they'll give her her hair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Right. The really noticeable, that's Gilda's thing. That's what they'll do, I think. Yeah. So what do you guys think? Big Saturday Night fans in general. Do you know about the history? Do you think it's a good choice?
Starting point is 00:43:58 I think it could be Oscar stuff, depending on how they do it. All right. I want to get to a couple more stories. Starting point is 00:47:37 I love cereal Yeah This is not We didn't talk about this beforehand Like hey Mike say this I love cereal Right I'll eat a bowl
Starting point is 00:47:45 Of Lucky Charms at two in the morning Sure I can't be doing that No You can't be doing that You can't And I'm not talking about I'm talking like
Starting point is 00:47:52 A giant glass bowl That you mix cookie batter And I'm getting a thing of that Of Lucky Charms Then I'm like oh I could go for another bowl And I'll get two of those It's really bad
Starting point is 00:47:59 Yeah But then I found Magic Spoon I found them like A few months ago Years ago Like the protein and everything in that, that stuff that's good. Like, I might not, I might not even run the actual ad.
Starting point is 00:48:08 I might just have you do it. I'm telling you. The magic's was, do you know what I do. Can you give me some right now? Can I finish my story? You think? We're talking about weight loss journey. Yeah, so well, but I did.
Starting point is 00:48:19 So very similar to what Mike was just saying. I lost 15 pounds. But because you get to that point where you're at, it's 8 o'clock at night and you want to snack on something. Yeah. And having a bowl of cereal with all the sugar in it, not good. Not going to help you. No.
Starting point is 00:48:34 But my friend who is chef was like, you got to just do protein. So Magic Spoon comes in and I did the, and I do, I mix the peanut butter and the chocolate. I mix those two together. Oh, you're an aristocrat, huh? Yes, I am. And then sometimes you get the sugar, you're very proud of yourself with a wink. Yeah. Very proud of yourself.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Like you just want a polter. Nice move, Clooney. So either way, either way, this is a really good thing. I love it. It is my go-to thing, and it helps tremendously. I actually had a friend there reached out yesterday, one of our patrons, and he was like, yeah, I just got two of them. I said, which ones do you get?
Starting point is 00:49:12 I'm so excited at the flavor. Blue shoe and magic spoon. No joke. Damn, dude. No joke. I put this guy up, man. I'm telling you. Come on.
Starting point is 00:49:19 You have great team-ups. I only take people that I think the audience is going to like. So that's why when I tell you guys to get to shut the fuck out. I tell you guys. It's because it helps the show. show and it's because you see the way this lunatic his eyes love you'll love magic smoke i just say i do a night of blue tube be going to town and then i get hungry afterwards right said there was a magic spoon a couple bowls of that just make me a promise just make me a promise no video i just
Starting point is 00:49:47 wanted you to talk about it afterwards i don't want to i got a three camera set up in that bedroom i'm sure you do sliver all right here we go so i got to this for mike the late great kevin conroy this is a story i'm reading from dark horizons it says kevin conroy recorded more batman lines. There's a lot of anger online regarding the upcoming suicide squad, kill the Justice League in regards to various things from the games as a service feel to the way it treats the DC hero characters. The most common complaint seems to be about the portrayal of Batman voiced by the late and great Kevin Conroy, who died in 2022 being disrespectful to the actor's legacy. Part of that anger is because this has been widely assumed to be the final work of Conroy, who began voicing
Starting point is 00:50:29 the Batman character back with Batman the animated series back in the 90s. Turns out not the case, IGN reports that according to their source, Conroy has two other performances as Batman Bruce Wayne that are on the horizon. One of them will be Bruce Tim's Batman Cape Crusader animated series originally at Max, but now it's at Prime Video. The outlet confirmed that Conroy did record for the show before his death, but the extent and the nature of the role is unclear. The other is the DC animated film Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earth's Part 3, which is confirmed to have Conroy reprise Bruce Wayne and Batman. The first part of the trilogy was released earlier this month. The other two have yet to see dates. The outlet indicates Conroy's publicist declined to comment. Suicide Squad killed the Justice League will mark Conroy's final voice performance in the game world.
Starting point is 00:51:20 All right, Mike, let me go with you here, man. So what do you make of this entire story? Let me tell you something. I tweeted this out the other day. I don't know if you know this. We were at a point, I think, where fandoms, every fandom is going to turn on the properties that they love. the Arkham games are some of the most beloved games the rocks that he is they're gods to these to everyone because of how well they treat the Batman and the lore
Starting point is 00:51:42 this game was announced a couple of years I think it was announced it like DC fandom back in 2020 the game is called Justice League or Suicide Squad kills the Justice League and they're upset they posted a shot of Batman being killed by the suicide squad
Starting point is 00:51:55 that's what the game is it's the game killing these characters and then it's like well the way he goes out and then everyone's like how Rock's shitting all over his legacies. Like, do you really think that they thought this is going to be his last game? Right. They thought,
Starting point is 00:52:09 like, they had any idea he was going to pass away. And then people are like, Kevin Conroy just took a paycheck. So I had to go, do you guys even know Kevin Conroy? That man had such a reverence for the character the way he talked about him. He would not sign on to a game if he didn't feel it was treated properly. He's never done a half-ass cash for a paycheck. The guy loved the script probably and read it.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Like, he didn't, they didn't know he's going to die. Like, but this is the game. you're killing the Suicide Squad. You're killing the Justice League. And everyone's upset about it. It's unreal to me. Okay. Unreal.
Starting point is 00:52:40 Like, it's disgusting the way people, they did, they turned on the Spider-Man game. They love that first one. The second one, because Venom wasn't Eddie Brock. They turned on the company.
Starting point is 00:52:49 And now this one they're saying, don't buy it, don't play it, this and that. It's just, it's exhausting. That's why I don't get into any of this stuff. It's exhausting.
Starting point is 00:52:58 I just, I don't get into any of it. It's like, because it's, because what they're, complaining about today is not what they'll be complaining about tomorrow. Exactly. I get it if you complain that the game because it's a live service game and there was talk about a battle pass and the pay to play.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I get that because the other games weren't that. But also the games have shifted. The last game in the Arkham series was 2015. It's almost 10 years ago. Right. And game, Fortnite and all that crap is that's what games and makes money now. And it's a company and they're going to make, so they're going to change. But the company is still itself, the way that they treated the characters in those games is still the way you're going to treat the characters in this game.
Starting point is 00:53:32 And it's a reverence for those characters. Why would they suddenly go, we're going to, who gives it crap, we're just going to do whatever we want with these characters? It's like, have a little faith and have a little goodwill that that company has earned. What do you think, Seth? I really have no skin in this game,
Starting point is 00:53:47 pun intended. But I think that that's cool. Yeah. If they do have lines that actually serve the character, yeah, well, but they're not going to please everybody. Well, I think, and overall for Kevin Conroyo, I like, and I think,
Starting point is 00:54:02 what it will do, what Mike was talking about, I think that it's not his last performance. It's not his last thing he's going to do as Batman. So he'll be able to do, they're going to be able to use more lines and stuff that he did. But there's also that possibility, very real possibility that the fans don't like that either. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:16 So it's just a matter of you just do what you have. You got these performances that he left and they're always brilliant. Yeah. So you do what you're going to do and you put it out there. But it's good to see that the very least is you still get to hear the guy voice Batman again for at least two or three other projects. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:36 It's great. Yeah, I know. I get it. All right, let's talk about this because this was announced. Oh, the trailer came out. Did you guys watch the trailer yet? Mm-hmm. All right.
Starting point is 00:54:44 So the trailer for Bad Bad Bad Bad Batch comes out. People are losing their minds during this thing and telling me, oh, you got to react to it. You got to react to it. You got to react. You got to check it out. Now, I start by saying this. Remember, first Bad Batch that we saw, we actually started Sith Council on the other channel that we had by doing.
Starting point is 00:55:02 reactions and reviews to Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad. And so when we thought the first season was fine, the second season, I think, I don't want to speak for you guys, but I believe from what I remember is that we all felt the same way that there were a couple of filler episodes here and there. But once they got into the core of what the story about, it was pretty great. But we were all like, okay, well, what's the next animated series? We like tales from the Jedi. Then there was rumors that they're going to do tales from the Sith and all these other things. Like, great, let's keep going down there. But I know they have to wrap up Bad Batch.
Starting point is 00:55:30 And I get it because they leave the story open. So they put the trailer out. I was, okay, it looks like they're going to continue on. It looks fine. Looks like the same thing that we've seen, but they're going to close certain storylines up. Fantastic. And then Assange Ventras pops up.
Starting point is 00:55:43 So that's one of those things where like, everybody's losing their minds and it's a great trailer because Assaj Ventress is in there. My first thought was, well, I guess they don't really care about canon and all because in the book she's dead. Right. She dies in the book. And I was based off of a Clone Wars script that I think George Lucas's daughter wrote.
Starting point is 00:55:58 so I was like So okay So they really really doesn't care And then there was like a release That they said they are going to pay Respect to the book And they'll probably explain how she's not dead And so everyone's like oh see
Starting point is 00:56:13 But they're not they're not negating it They're fine But everybody lives again Nobody dies Nobody dies Riva gets stabbed She's fine Darth Mall gets cut in half
Starting point is 00:56:25 He's okay Everybody's okay Nobody dies. And it's like Palpatine, somehow he returned. It's all these, it just takes away. And it was, I understand why they did it. Because Assange Ventris is beloved by the people who watch Clone Wars. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:41 They love her. And she was a great character. Yes. And Filoni does have the philosophy. I don't care what you guys think. He doesn't really pay that much attention to the book. He told me as much on an interview, not those words, but he was just like, there's just so much going on. You can tell to me that men.
Starting point is 00:56:57 I pay attention to animated. I pay attention to live action. So when the book itself comes out, they find a way to maneuver because they figure nobody really is a small sector of people read that and they're the ones who are going to be upset about it and no one else will and they're 100%
Starting point is 00:57:15 right. Yeah. But it didn't make me love the trailer. I said the trailer was fine and I'm not excited to the Sajd's back because I thought her I thought her ending was really poetic I thought it was fantastic. But they're going to explain it.
Starting point is 00:57:30 They're going to, don't care. And don't care. And maybe I changed my tune, but I don't care. How do you feel? Yeah, I don't care. I love her in the Clone Wars, but it's not like we didn't get enough of her. Right. Many seasons of her.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Did you read the book? Yeah, I actually did. So then her body was dropped off. Like, she was dead dead. Right. She was dead. She was dead. So even if they explain it, that's better than nothing.
Starting point is 00:57:53 But to me, it just is weird because it's an entire galaxy. we don't have other characters. Yeah, because there are other people that were trying to say, well, the timeline puts, it could still happen. No, Duke was alive. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:06 During the time, during that book. It doesn't make sense. Yeah. So you, you're coming from a different side here. You saw this, did you see the trailer yet? Yeah. And what did you think of the trailer overall?
Starting point is 00:58:16 That's okay. Yeah. Right. And did you even know who that was? Yeah, but I knew, of course, who she is. I know she's massive character. Right. And the popularity of her.
Starting point is 00:58:24 But I'm like, if it's dead, it's dead. It was the same reaction I got when Moll showed up in solo. Because I didn't watch any stuff where he got revived. And I know everyone loves him now and he had this and that. I was like, he died. It was awesome when he died. You mean someone went down to the bottom of that pit, that 200, 300 thing and they found his body? Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:44 Okay. But like dead is dead. Like, come on, man. Let the characters and then create new characters. That was kind of it. I don't know why. I guess that's a bigger. I think that's a great point.
Starting point is 00:58:55 And I have to see the show, but I don't understand why you need Assange Ventress, except for the fact of Falunia going, oh, she's a great character, we'll bring her back. That's the only reason I could, like, why does she, she need to be, like, Quinlan Voss? Quillen Voss, to me, he's, he's mentioned in Obi-Wan. They're never going to wind up bringing that back. But, yeah, I don't, I don't know. I'm going to, I'll see, I'll see how it pans out. It comes out.
Starting point is 00:59:21 What's it, is it this month? Yeah, so the premiere date of that is February 21st, and that's, That's right around the corner. Right. It's a big month for TV. Yeah. Yeah. What else is coming out?
Starting point is 00:59:31 Avatar. Oh, right. For Netflix, right. And you got Masters of the Air on the air right now. Yes. Oh, yeah, yeah. I haven't seen it yet. I started watching the first one.
Starting point is 00:59:41 I really liked it, but I've been watching True Detective right now. Okay. How is this? It's really good. Do you need to have watched the prior seasons? No. Okay. I just finished Foundation, which is an Apple TV show.
Starting point is 00:59:51 Star Warsy. There's moments. Yeah, yeah, for sure. It's, um, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, good. There are some things where I'm like, it's not perfect, but it's good. So bad batch. And then that showgun show, do you see the trail? I haven't seen the show. Yeah, I know. I know. I'm sorry. You told me to watch it last week. I didn't do it. So that show's coming out the end of February too. So it's going to be a great month for TV. So I think, I think that's everything. Let me see
Starting point is 01:00:13 if there's, let me see if there's anything else. All right, let's end with this. I mentioned Argyle. Well, Matthew Vaughn is out there given interviews. And so he talked about Deadpool 3. With Argyle opening this Friday in cinema's filmmaker, Matthew Vaughn is out there talking up his spy thriller comedy, but he commented in another film entirely, specifically Deadpool 3. Vaughn hasn't done a film for the MCU, but has had Marvel experience, X-Men first class in 2011, which he ushered in four young X-Men films in total. Thus, he has some level of pull-up Marvel, and while appearing on a recent episode of Pro-Bible Post-Cred podcast, He says he has some inside knowledge about Deadpool 3 that's enough to get him excited.
Starting point is 01:00:56 In fact, he goes so far as to say the film could save the MCU. The few snippets that I know about Deadpool versus Wolverine or Wolverine versus Deadpool, I'm sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak. It's unbelievable. That's going to be the jolt that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to have a jolt and it's going to bring back that body back to life. I think Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe. He hopes this will allow for exciting new X-Men tales within the MCU.
Starting point is 01:01:23 I'm a genuine fan of the X-Men, and all I want is for the movies to be as good as they should be. It marks a major change from Vaughn's other comments recently on the greater trend of superhero fatigue, suggesting maybe we need a bit of time away from it. The third Deadpool film is in July. All right, Steph, so you hear this. I think we've talked about it on this show. We've definitely talked about it on this channel, for sure. Deadpool needs to be the savior of the MCU. It needs to be that jolt.
Starting point is 01:01:52 It needs to be the one go, okay, all that of those stuff that wasn't working. This is a new kind of phase. And look at it. We're turning it upside down on its head. Do these comments inspire? Do these comments? Of course he's going to say that. How do you feel when you hear these comments?
Starting point is 01:02:09 Yeah, I think it's really exciting. I think anyone who's a fan of the mutants and the X-Men storylines in general are, like, like, why aren't you guys doing more this again? And in a better version now that you guys kind of know what you're doing. And so this is the perfect movie to introduce it. And I know that some people were like, why are we? People love Hugh Jackman, but they're a little bit like, why are we bringing him back after Logan? That's so minimal.
Starting point is 01:02:34 Yeah. To me, I'm like, whatever. I'm excited. So it's good to hear it. Those are big compliments, obviously. But I wouldn't, I don't know. To me, it's like there's a really low chance at this movie. isn't great. It's going to be one of the biggest movies of the year. As I had said, I think that
Starting point is 01:02:52 the movies right now that can be can make a billion dollars are this. Despicable Me. These are just contenders, not necessarily they will. They just have contenders. Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me. Inside Out, too. And Wicked. Those are the ones that are contenders. You don't think Dune or Furiosa? No way. Billion dollars? No chance. definitely not Furiosa, which I'm excited for, but it's not a billion-dollar movie. And then, um, June will get five to six, I think. But, but either way, this, this one will. But Mike, you, uh, you look pensive. Yeah. What do you say? Um, I don't, I'm not really excited for this movie. No, how come? One, I thought Logan is the perfect ending for Hugh Jackman's
Starting point is 01:03:41 career as. Oh, you're sick of the multiverse stuff too. I, like, to me, When Marvel finally, and again, this seems Marvel MCU adjacent. We haven't seen any actors that are from the MCU going to be in this one. I was excited for the Fantastic Four to join the MCU and I was excited for the X-Men. But Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart,
Starting point is 01:04:03 and now Kelsey Grahamberg. So what are we just going to get the X-Men with a fresh coat of paint? And it's going to be the same old thing with a fresh coat of paint? I want all new actors. I think you're going to get that. I think this movie is going to be,
Starting point is 01:04:14 we're going to go through every Fox film in the 2000s and we're gonna make fun of it and we're gonna kill people in it and all those movies that us in the 2000s that grew up with these superhero movies and love them, you're gonna suddenly gonna turn on them and yeah, that movie was shit. Oh yeah, Daredevil sucked because like
Starting point is 01:04:29 it's just gonna shit on what came before it and the fact that what came before it built what we are now. And we enjoyed those movies in the 2000s and they were a different time period than what it is now. So if it's just gonna be him going from movie to movie, collecting heroes, killing heroes and at the end's gonna be
Starting point is 01:04:45 a portal into an MCU and they're like, who are you? Like, don't worry, I took care of that. So here we all are together now. I'm like, the first Deadpool is one of my favorite film going experiences of all time.
Starting point is 01:04:55 It was awesome in that audience. Two was, I saw it once and I didn't see it again. And now when I watched the first Deadpool, because all the jokes and everything, I'm like, it doesn't play for me. The first one doesn't play? Because it was such an experience.
Starting point is 01:05:09 Is it cool to see Hugh Jackman in a yellow outfit? Cool. Like, and they'll probably do something where they shrink him down. and use tricks to make him appear like Wolverine is in the comics he's five feet tall and we're all gonna love that and everyone's gonna go nuts for that and it's just like I'm sorry like Peter when Patrick Stewart had his final thing in Logan that was heartbreaking and awesome and then to show him in that giant chair
Starting point is 01:05:31 and everyone loses their fucking mind for it I grew up on Doctor Strange yeah yeah and then everyone loses their mind and Kelsey Grammer the CGI like and he look cool. But even Patrick Stewart was not happy with that. No, he wasn't. Yeah. And Mangled his walk back on his words of going. First he's like, yeah, let him use again. Now he's like, well, it kind of goes like... No, he doesn't. No, recently.
Starting point is 01:05:57 No, recently he said it doesn't, it's completely different. Right. But it just doesn't, like, I'm kind of like, want... Like, eventually when Tom Cruise bites the bullet is Ethan Hunt, I want him to stay dead. Yeah, I... Well, that goes back to the Sodge Ventures kind of conversation we just had. I mean, I... Look, that, it is the bigger problem with the multiverse
Starting point is 01:06:13 in general that they could, because even, you know, It's not the one from Logan. Right. So, but anyway, I do, I disagree with you, though. I think the movie is going to be, I think they're going to do it in a way where it's not just, oh, look at that, because I thought the stuff in multiverse was done terrible. But I just think it was done terribly. I think it was just kind of thrown in there.
Starting point is 01:06:30 That movie wasn't good. No. So I do feel this movie is going to be huge. I do agree with Vaughn that if they do it right, it could save the MCU, but they've got to be able to continue it on. You think so? Yeah, they got to be, because they got a reset. It's essentially a reset. And it's going to do what.
Starting point is 01:06:45 you want them to do. It's going to introduce whoever the new X-Men are. It's going to introduce them into the world, I think. So what do you guys say? What do you think? Go ahead and comment. Tell us exactly your thoughts on all this stuff. The Deadpool stuff. Is it going to, could it save the MCU? All that and more. I'd like to thank my panel here today starting with Steph Sabrabaugh. Steph, where can I find you? At Steph Sabraa and the World Girls. That's today, right? Yes. Check that on Roxy's channel. No, no. It's on our channel. Oh, it's on the World Goes channel. I'm sorry.
