What's up, everybody?
I told you.
Spoiler review.
Episode 9 of House of the Dragon.
This show, man.
If you haven't seen the episode, obviously, you should be clicking out of here
because this is a full spoiler review, as I do every week.
I do my immediate reaction, which is pretty non-spoilery.
And then I hit it in the morning, and I get to the best show on television, hands down.
And if you're brand new to this channel, by the way, give me a favor.
Hit that subscribe button.
Getting to 70,000.
We're moving.
We're moving.
Got our merch up finally.
Only two shirts up there right now,
but by the end of the day,
we'll have a bunch of new things.
But that's not where you're here.
Well, you should be,
but maybe we're right not.
Not now.
You're here for this show.
And I get it.
What an episode.
We started off hot.
Some people were saying,
I don't know,
there's just only one-sided.
You know, shit.
They're showing the chess game, man.
They're back and forth.
You get this poor sad fuck queen right now.
Olivia Cook doing a hell of a job.
But you know what the hell?
She's playing this so well.
Olivia Cook, like, just like,
it's she wants her kid on the throne.
And she's convinced that's what Vassar said.
He didn't.
But that's what she thinks.
Fair enough.
But she's playing it so well as far as performance-wise go,
where she's just tortured, completely tortured.
And you can see.
it, but she's trying to do what's right.
She doesn't want to...
What's hilarious, I mean,
hilarious and tragic and
pretty disturbing at the same time is
this scene
when you get...
Because, again, she's just
playing this so well.
Playing it so well.
And you get this scene here
where this guy is just like, hey, man, listen,
you guys are a bunch of crooked fucks.
What are you talking about?
I've known Viseras for a long time
And all the fucking guy kept doing
It's talking about how his daughter's gonna be
The queen
This is like
Everyone, she's in line
And this isn't just some guy making it up
He put his kid there
And he fought for it for years and years and years
You tell him because he was crapping out
A death pit of one person sitting there
I'm gonna believe this?
Eat shit
And no way
I ain't doing it
I ain't buying it
That's my buddy
Well
So Kristen right there
Told his buddy
Shut up
Put his head into a plate
And that's the end to him
But he stayed loyal
And I loved that scene
Because he stayed loyal
And he said nope
I ain't having it
And by the way
How do I know that you didn't kill him
When he's laying there
To get that little
Pigeon
Jerkoff kid
To be the king
How do I know
Now he doesn't know shit
Because he's part of his
his eggs. But nonetheless, he stood his ground and I dug it. And that was the things. Everybody
standing in their ground was eating it because Hightower is now saying, all right, we got to put,
we got to nip this in the butt. You got to take out Rennar, we got to take out Damon. We got to
take out everybody. And that's what Allison's like, that's not the game I want to play.
We're going to tell her that Egon is going to be king. She got to deal with it. And if we go to war,
we go to war. And he's like, let's not do war. Let's kill everybody. So here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to find that creepy kid, find out where he is. And I'm going to say, once you get your
little ass into the throne, you're going to kill everybody. She's like, no, no, no, no. We're not,
we're not going to do it that way. That's not how we're doing this. But Hight Tower sends out the twins
to go find this creepy little bastard.
and the same time Allison's like, okay, look, Armand, Amid, Amid, Oman, Patch,
go find your brother, do what you got to do, and get him back to me.
And I love this scene because here's the thing, yes, Amon is a son of a bitch.
And when he won me over when he got that dragon as a kid, he lost me quick when he started fighting those little kids
and punched the little kid in the nose.
They didn't like that.
Got me back a little bit more when he gave the answer.
Worth the price.
Lost my eye.
Got a dragon.
Didn't like his methods.
His attitude, though, hard to argue with.
Love the back and forth of last episode.
When he's standing there looking at Damon and they're staring at each other,
he's like, I'm not ready for this yet.
I'm going to step down.
This kid wants to be king.
That's where a pigeon boy wants nothing to do with it.
He wants nothing to do with it.
And they're finding it in the door.
around the street trying to find this guy going all the things and they go to the and this this episode
felt to me the most like you know creepy game of thrones from that first season back in whatever the
hell it was 2011 2010 i remember when it came out but either way it reminds me of that with the
little kids fighting in the pits and the poor little bastard like one of his one of um um agon's kids
chained up ready to fight it was like it was disturbing but fitting for where they were and all that
stuff. So him and Sir Kristen are, you know, on the town looking for this kid. And I like,
and you got more from Amon than this, where even he says to, he's not just, he's not just as
ruthless lunatic. He, he says to Sir Christian, he's like, look, you're a good dude. And I get
it. And you've been protecting me since I was a kid and everything to. But this, this,
my brother's an asshole. And he does not deserve, basically, fuck this guy. Let him go. I'll
be the king. Put me in there.
And Sir Kristen's like, I get you, dude.
I got it.
But I got to be loyal to your mom.
And he is.
He's loyal the whole way through, trying to protect him, trying to find this kid.
And the search is on for this kid, the whole way through as they're looking for him.
And you get this whole thing with the white worm and lugless where she's just like, okay, look,
I stuck this little bastard in a closet.
And he's just eating bullshit in a little Harry Potter chain.
chamber and I'll give him back to you.
I could have killed him.
I'll give him back to you.
He's got to stop having kids fight.
You got to stop this.
And, you know, High Tower is like, you got my word.
I promise.
He's like, remember, I could have easily killed him, easily taking him out.
But I didn't.
And I love the line.
He's like, I remember.
I'll remember.
And I believe him.
That's the thing with this show that I, and I, and I, I, I, I, I, I,
understand when people say, well, you know what? I don't, nobody's really good in this show.
I think it's the most human that characters have been. They do good shit. They do bad shit.
They do things sometimes that are questionable. They do things sometimes that maybe you don't
agree with, but they agree with. Like, there's things to be found with all these people.
I have, within the first, like, two or three episodes, everybody was on Sir Kristen's side.
He's a lunatic.
Get scorned?
What happened to him?
Loyal.
But he's a murderer.
Right?
You look at Reneira has done some questionable shit,
but she's got to be the one most people are rooting for.
Right now, maybe I'm wrong.
At least that's the way I'm going with because, like, it's her right.
Her dad put her in the throne,
and said it forever, and as we know, he was talking to her.
He wasn't talking to Allison.
He thought he was talking to Rennara.
He's telling him Roneira, this is, you're going to do this.
You're going to put it all together.
It's going to be you.
And, you know, it's because he was in Lala Land by the time that he said it.
You know, Allison got confused.
That was it.
And that's the thing with Allison.
She does some shit sometimes.
But like that scene that she has, and I think it's, I think I have it somewhere.
She said, this seems a blurry image, but whatever.
Like she was upset about Vassaris.
She would, I mean, you know, she had that great conversation with her father where she's like,
I know what you did.
This is after she has the conversation with Rana's.
And she's just like, I know what you did.
You used me as a chess piece the whole damn time.
I mean, he's like, yeah.
But you know, what are you trying to tell me that you, that you're not,
and you're part of this game and you know what the hell you're doing.
So what are we doing here?
We both want this kid on the throne.
And we had,
and there's that great conversation.
And of course,
I'm not going to forget about it.
I would just get right into it.
Is that creepy Sir,
Salaris going Tarantino style with the feet?
Everybody's talking about the feet.
And again,
I thought some people going,
was that necessary?
Absolutely.
This is one of those things in Game of Thrones.
Or it's like,
this guy's fucked up.
and I love the shot of the of his gnarly foot and then that's what he asks at night.
He just wants to see her feet.
Oh, creepy.
But that's how she's getting the information.
She's like, and it's like it's not a sexual act, but it is.
And like it's that look of her like, again, great, great performance by Olivia Cook.
she's just turned to the side like this is so filthy this guy is just like jerking off about my feet
and i just need him to give me he could have just sent me an email if they had email
instead he's got to jerk off while looking at my feet the fuck am i doing um and it's like this
look on her face where she she just she's like oh this is what i have to do this is how i have to
and it was so it was such a it was such a it was such a
disturbing scene, but again, I thought Olivia Cook really stood out in this episode, and so did
and, but we'll talk about Rinas in general, because she's, it's, it's her, it's her episode.
There's no doubt about it.
But that, that crown man, they finally find the creepy kid.
And there's that fight between the twins and, you know, one of the, one of the twins is like,
nah, this is bullshit.
This kid does not deserve to be king.
He's a lunatic.
What are we doing?
another brother's like,
nah, we're going to do our job.
Fight Sir Kristen.
Brother, brother takes off.
Eventually goes to help out Rainis, right?
Hightower having a, you know, he's, to me,
he's little finger to me.
There are people saying that Laris's little finger.
Laris is too crazy.
He's a sinister dude
where he's just trying to do all these particularly.
He'll go, he'll burn things up.
He'll kill people, cut off tongues,
He's, he's absolutely, he's more like, I can't, I never remember his name.
The lunatic that cut off, uh, shit, I can't remember anybody's names.
Creek, creep, help me, you know I'm talking about.
Maybe you don't, because I've expressed that terribly.
But either way, he's a lunatic.
Hightower reminds me more than a little finger because he's, it's been plotting since day one.
And there's a great scene of, there are a lot of people who pledged Alliance
to Ranera here.
That was 20 years ago.
They're all dead.
That and then that scene where they're all,
like people who are just standing up
for their word going,
you're not going to back down
from the oath that we gave to the king.
Okay, then you're dead.
And they're hanging people.
Loved the king's guard,
the head of the king's guard.
It's like, yeah, I taking out orders from the king,
so I'm gone.
At one point I thought that they hung him,
and then I realized, I paused.
I said, okay, they didn't kill him.
because he's going to wind up fighting for Renair, I think, anyway.
And I love that we didn't see Renair and Damon in this one.
Because they don't know shit of what's going on.
They don't know anything.
That's why when people are like this one-sided, it needed to be.
To be fair, the person that said that was also like, I get it.
It was the setup to what's coming, but I just wanted to see more of them.
And I get it because their performances have just been so great.
You miss them when they're not there.
But I thought it was relevant to the episode because,
They have no idea Vassarist has died.
They have no idea that they're being ousted.
They have no idea.
And there's like this quick movement.
Find this kid, do the coronation, get him in there.
Let's figure it out afterwards.
If we're not going to kill him and we're not going to do it,
then we've got to put this kid in power now.
And there's that great conversation between Amund and the king.
And he's like, I don't want to be the king, man.
So you have no arguments for me.
I don't think you should be, asshole, but I'm doing this for our mom.
Because she asked me to it.
And I'm a loyal son, and I'm a good son.
And I am doing what king should do.
Where Aragon, or Aragon, whatever the fuck his name is, he's sitting there, Agon,
sitting there in the king's coach, dad didn't want me to be.
He's like, Damon, right?
He said, Dad didn't want me to be anything.
She's like, that's not true.
He told me.
He's like, yeah, come on.
And then she even says to him, you're an imbecile, you're an asshole, whatever she says to him at the end.
But I don't know what, we're going to get to it.
Because I want to give, I want to give, we get to this whole thing where this big coordination,
they push everybody into the thing in this kid.
Now he's, now he's loving it.
Now he's getting the taste.
And he's realizing, oh, wait a minute, maybe this is more to just jerking off on pigeons
and watching little kids fight in a pit.
Look at this.
I like this feeling.
All right, let me tell you some Shecky green jokes here.
Look at this.
And Amon is like this motherfucker.
Because he wants to kill him.
He knows he could be king, but he won't.
But again, playing by the rules in a certain aspect, right?
And then shit goes down.
Rainis comes in.
Now, what an episode for her because she's, this entire episode is,
she's been in Kings Landing.
She was there.
Help out.
do what she was going to do.
And then she's locked in the room.
She has a great moment.
She's had so many great moments.
And she has this great moment with Allison.
And she has a couple moments with Allison.
She's like, look, you're more ruthless than I thought you were.
You were smarter than I thought you were.
All this.
She's like, you still, you're fooling yourself when you're saying,
you're playing all these rules trying to get men in power,
when you should be doing it yourself.
You haven't thought about being on the Iron Throne?
Because Allison says to her, you should have been on the,
thrown. She said, well, why are you thinking about you doing it? You know, instead of this,
and then you're turning on your words, you're doing this. And Allison makes a bold move to try
to get her on her side, which is the smart move. Allison is very smart. Rain's like,
nah, come on. I'll let you know. Twin breaks her out. It's out. And that was a, I didn't think she
was going to die. I knew she was going to make it out. And this is really her, this was, I think,
her strongest episode as a character. Not as, I mean, performance-wise actress has been doing
great job the entire time. But I think character-wise, it was, all right, this is why I should have
been queen. Let me show you what I'm going to do here. I'm going to get away. I'm going to watch
this little creepy bastard get coordinated and then watch what I'm going to do. I'm going to sneak out
to the cellar and nobody's looking at all. Why more people weren't doing it? I don't know. That's
on them. I'm going, I'm going to find my dragon and then I'm going to come in. And if I wanted to,
I'm going to power move here. All I got to do is say it. All I got to just say is Chakeris.
you guys are toast.
How about that?
Yeah, you should be scared.
You're not, you know, your sword's not sticking out.
No, isn't it, Pidja Boy?
I want to roast you a lass.
And she looks at them.
She flies away.
Now, what I really liked, I watched,
I don't know if you guys watch the after thing.
Creators are talking about it.
I know people are going to have a problem with why she didn't do it.
But it was one mom to another mom going,
okay, look, this is where we're at.
I think what it was was a matter of her,
because she's not the killer that these people are, right?
She's not, this is not,
she would have been that peaceful queen
that her predecessor was,
could have been, and look, Viseras was too.
But Vassaris, it took him a long time to make those moves.
I think she would have been doing it right away.
And she's going, look, just letting you know,
like that, you'd be gone, like that.
So be smart.
I hope they'd bring it back,
which is just like,
I gave you that chance.
I gave you that chance to walk away from this, and you didn't do it.
Now, the argument can be made, you had, you could, I hope that they say it.
I hope that Damon says, you could have roasted them, why didn't you?
And she has an answer for it.
I hope that it comes up.
Because everybody's asking it, obviously.
There's tons of people asking it.
It could have ended the war like that.
I think that they should address it because the creators obviously were aware of it and
even talked about it, or the showrunners, rather.
I liked the choice.
I liked the choice of her flying away going,
get out of my way.
I got out and this ain't over.
And now you know it's coming
because I'm going to tell Renair.
And this whole episode was just to show,
oh, I don't know if it was just to show.
But I think what it did show
was how much those first,
those initial eight episodes
were like an incredible prologue.
Because I think he even said,
I didn't read the book, but from what they say about the book itself,
is that it, it's that the beginning chapters,
you know, Baceres and all that, it's not even in it that long.
It's just, they just explain kind of his reign,
but it's more about the war between the green, the black, and all that,
and we're getting into that,
and that's essentially going to be the juice of season two.
I hope that they get Miguel back, who's the other showrunner,
I think they need him back.
I think that this team, whatever the behind the scenes was,
whatever it's scheduling or blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I think it's horse crap that he had some kind of falling out.
I hope they figure it out.
And I hope that they work it out because I think they need both these guys together.
Because this is one of the most perfect seasons of television that I've ever seen.
It might not even over yet.
We still have one left.
But just perfect.
It's perfect. It's like perfect storytelling and it was such a great lead up.
Those first episodes leading into this, which is essentially what this show is about.
The season finale is what the show is like the first episode of what this show is really about.
It's been so contained in the first few.
I don't know what the fuck this thing is.
I've been playing with it for.
How long am I playing with this for?
My kid came in here and put this thing and it just like it's like a fidget or something.
I don't know how it got in here.
Don't judge.
But man, it's like this show is just so, it's so detailed and it was so contained for the first aid inside of just the politics and the placement and all that, the character development.
And that's why you're so invested.
And that's what I think more shows should do.
I hope that more shows take notes on the way that this show was put together, especially in the fantasy, sci-fi superhero realm.
I hope people start to
start to form shows
not in the serious tone,
just the serious tone like this
because that's not what every show should be.
I get it.
But pacing,
caring about the actual characters,
this is a master class.
Anyway,
I hope you guys enjoyed the episode.
I hope you enjoyed this spoiler review.
