We all saw it, myself, Roxy and Brett, so we'll get into that. The craziest thing, as you saw in the title, is the Flash has been screening. We've heard how good it was. There are people behind the scenes comparing this thing to the dark night. I don't know about that.

But we're going to, that's what people are saying. So we're going to talk about that. Speaking of test screenings, Blue Beetle, is getting some test screenings. We'll talk about that. Invincible Season 2 is going to get an update by Amazon. Disney, by no, no big surprise here is the box office champs of 2022. House of the Dragon had some drama.

Is there an update on Jeremy Renner? And Batista is confirming he has done playing drags. Now, all of those subjects are on the table. Now, the question is, on myself, Roxy and Breck going to get to it, because Roxy's also got her big TV segment that we're going to get into as well. I caught up on some shows. I caught up on some movies. I've caught up on a bunch of things.

And this happened to me on New Year's Eve, too. I had really pretty hair. And then I got stuck in torrential downpour. I left my friends, my family. I left three thousand miles away to move to warm weather. For this? I love it. Oh.

Oh, do you? Speaking of... Speaking of moody, rainy things, I'm watching, I told him the other day, I told you, Wednesday. I'm watching Wednesday. Oh, yeah. It's good. It's really good. My daughter loves it.

She loves it. She loves it. She's so cute when I was here and she was like just wanting to talk about it. I remember that feeling as a kid of like seeing something that you feel like is speaking to you as a kid. It's her favorite thing. She loves it and she wants to, and she's been watching it with us. She's seen it, but now she's watching. We're at the finale. We're finally at the finale. So it's really, really good. I mean, it's predictable as hell, but it's really good. Who cares? Yeah, who cares? It's so good.

I was like, oh, you know? And then it was funny. Like, the audience was fucking laughing. It was hilarious. And that was the thing. It said, Brett and I walked out. were like, was it supposed to be funny? I think so.

I think it was. I think there's some parts of it. Like, there's some funny stuff. And I think that that's the part that worked for me. It's the on the nose. They know how ridiculous it is at times. So, the whole time. Yeah.

And that's why, like I said, I never, and we've said it in our out of the theater reaction. I never felt like, oh, my God, why am I watching? So sometimes with the tropes inside of horror movies, I'm like, oh, this is the same shit over and this. This was different. And if you don't know what the movie is, it's essentially this. AI doll, which is scary in general.

If you look at all this stuff, there's, there are interviews on like, I think it was, what the hell was it? It was 60 minutes or whatever it was. And they were interviewing like the first kind of AI doll, which reminded me of this shit. Oh yeah, the woman, be better. Yeah, yeah. And it's like, this is the kind of shit. I will put you in my human zoo or something like that.

Something like, yeah, but she's got these answers. And he's like, do you have, you don't have real emotions. Yes, I do. And it reminded me of that. So I thought the premise of it was, was pretty interesting. And there were moments, as you said, I think that with loss and things of that nature and the way that they played it in, I thought the little girl was really good. Alison Williams was good as well. It's just once it got into, well, this is a horror movie, so we need to get into the horror tropes.

That's when it really lost me because there's some, the motivation for this doll makes no sense. I'm so not with you on that. Okay. I felt like everything she did, I was like, mm, get it, Dolly. Not farting. Okay. What did you think? Did she get the, she had motivation for some of these kills?

Don't tell them? I said what? I'm not going to stop. She knows it's going to kill people. Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, she kills people? One kill, yes, 100%, but also, you know, not completely necessary.

I think she does a good job. She's essentially the aunt who has to help out with the kid. And she's this tech genius and she creates Megan, right? She is to blame for every single thing that happens in this movie. Everything. Yeah, but she's the best character arc. But she's not likable, the character. She's likable because it's Allison Williams, but there's nothing.

She is an awful human being. What are you talking about? I can't spoil the whole thing. right now, but she's the character. She's so not awful. Oh my God. It's like, so, I can't spoil it. I can't spoil it.

I had the opportunity to speak with Ben on the one-on-one Patreon sessions a few different times, and I just loved my conversations with him. He was just such a pure, genuine human, and unfortunately,

I was the other day Frenchie, who was a MTS, pundit he reached out to me and let me know that ben rainer had passed away last week and it is it is terrible i don't know the extent of it i want to give you know let his family be the ones who give out that information or whatnot but we just know that we lost a really really great person with uh with ben rayner i loved talking to this guy man he was just a passionate positive force um and i'm going to miss him because he was i was really great person with uh he was really starting to get to know him. I always knew his name, but I had started to have these one-on-one conversations with him. And we miss him, my man. This is a really, really good person and a big

loss in this community in general. So if you didn't know Ben Rayner, and I know that there's, I retweeted at Kate Mulligan, put something out there. Studio Insiders are reportedly comparing this movie to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Night. Now, I've been talking about this movie. I'm excited about this movie. I don't know. I don't know. This could be a bunch of rhetoric. But this is what they're saying on comic book movie. There's a lot of positive buzz surrounding the Flash movie heading to theaters and it comes out this summer

with Studio Insiders already comparing the Scarlet Speedster's first big screen solo outing to the Dark Night. While the Flash no longer looks set to have the same level importance to the DCU as it once did under the previous regime, many fans remain excited about the film. After all, it's going to be a multiverse adventure that brings Michael Keaton back as Batman and introduces Sasha Kale as Supergirl. Variety recently shared a preview of this year's big screen. offerings revealing that studio insiders haven't been this excited for Warner Bros. Superhero movies since the Dark Night movies. It sounds promising. However, the trade goes on to point out

that almost everything about the Flash suggests it will be a massive summer sensation, but emphasize the almost. Pointing to Ezra Miller's recent issues, it's pointed out that their past behavior is also, excuse me, as all some people know about them. A terrible place to star for a studio that needs to sell its star as an aspirational superhero. It's previously been reported. The Flash has received overwhelmingly positive responses at test screenings, but the odds are still stacked against this one. With D.C.'s new leadership preparing a reboot on top of the controversy surrounding Miller.

It's explained that Warner Bros. now has a precarious high-wire promotional campaign ahead of its to get audiences to stop paying attention to its stars pass and focus instead on the movie that they're leading. Throw in the fact the plans for the Flash to set the stage for movies like Batman Beyond and Crisis on Infinite Earths have likely been scrapped by DC Studio and selling the Scarlet Speitzer's first soul, a solo movie set to be easier said than done. Many fans have rolled their eyes over the fact that this adventure will feature two versions of the Flash, both of whom looks set to be idiots. What does that mean?

Oh, I see. I see in that trailer. Batman returning to action after retiring is interesting, though, and we know Supergirl won't be at full power when we meet her here. Okay. Let's see. What's the idiot part mean? I'll tell you, in the sec.

So, do you remember when the trailer itself came out for fandom like two years ago? Yes. So at the very end of it, when Ezra Miller's front and center, he's got two other flashes with them. And it's two other Barry Allen's, it seems like. I don't remember those. And they said something stupid? They just look kind of dopey.

Like when it was about, he went that away. Yeah, right, something along those lines. I don't know. So either way, though, there's a lot inside of this. We've talked about this story many times over. we've talked about the fact that we've all heard how good it was. We've heard from multiple people. You've heard, I've heard that it's good.

But we all have also talked about the situation that Ezra Miller has been in consistently, not just with one particular thing, with many circumstances and how Warner Brothers is going to move past it. And we've also said this. And I think you and I especially stand by this. This movie has to be at least something they think they can profit on because of all. of those issues, they didn't scrap it, they kept pushing it back into a place that for the best range to get profitability, right? Like with pushing it into June in the middle of summer, that means they have enough confidence in it that they're going, no, no, no, we can't scrap this. What do you

think on all this? Well, number one, Azra Miller is currently on trial facing 26 years in prison. We don't think that they're going to get it. However, this is like, I think we're dealing with actually something unprecedented right now, which is what the fuck are you guys going to do with your press tour here. Right. I mean, you obviously can't put this person on a carpet. You can't do a junk. It's all that's all people are going to ask about.

I mean, because how are you going to dictate that they can't? Right. Like, how are you going to say to all the hosts? And what are they going to say? Right. And they don't trust, obviously, Warner Brothers does not trust Ezra Miller. I wouldn't. So even if people didn't ask them about it, they, I think that they still.

There's going to be zero promotion for this movie involving Ezra Miller, I think, which other than like commercials and very planned out bits. That's an issue. I don't think the odds are stacked against this movie, though, because I think the majority of the country, not just this country, the majority of the world, doesn't give a flying fuck if Ezra Miller is a bad or good person. and be like remember okay y'all saw Ezra choke a girl and bring her to the ground and then you saw Ezra get arrested twice in Hawaii and once fling a chair at somebody gashed their head open and also break into a couple's home and say that they were going to murder that couple. And then in Vermont, break into a person's house and steal from that person. And then there's two cases of grooming right now where Ezra apparently was giving drugs to 12-year-old kids allegedly. Y'all saw all that? Well, it's... The movie's real good.

No, I don't doubt that this movie slaps. I don't doubt it. There's no way that they would... I mean, if this was at all bad, they would have scrapper. They would have scrapped it. I mean, even, and take the loss. So I believe the dark night quality. I don't know.

That's why I'm excited. That's the tough one, though. The, now, the report is a little different, no, too. What are we saying here? Are we saying that it's as good as the dark night? Because totally it's got to be different. But yeah. Yeah, for sure.

Absolutely. But the other question is inside of this report. They also say that there's not as much. It feels like the same type of hype inside of the, or the excitement for it. to release as it was for Dark Night. Those are two significantly different things, as opposed to quality-wise, on how good it is,

because the Dark Night was also really also up for Oscars and stuff, too. Like, I don't know if the Flash is going to be up for Oscars. Who knows? But I can't imagine it, especially from those two goofy flashes inside of it, that I can't imagine that's going to happen. But I don't know. I don't know the context of it all. How are we going to talk about the movie?

I know. Is there just going to be an asterisk every conversation you have about it? because I feel bad at this point being like picking and choosing which artists I support anymore. Right. It's difficult. Like I know there's the whole separate the art from the artist's argument and whatnot. But like some people, you know, if Kanye West was starring in a movie right now, under zero circumstances, I'm seeing the movie. I don't care if it's a flash movie, whatever it is.

But Ezra's starring in a movie and I'm like fucking stoked for it. I know. It's tough. And that's all the stuff that we've talked about at length, right? And then there's this other thing that's also connected to it that I think it's going to play for a lot, not a lot of the casual people, but I think for a lot of the hardcore fan base, they're now not as excited anymore because they know that this doesn't tie into the overall DCU plans. And it's very similar to me in where when it comes to like the Star Wars novels, right?

I used to read like the Star Wars novels all the time, the new ones. and they're supposed to be part of canon. They're supposed to, like, that's a big announcement. Like, 2012 was, like, everything from video games and all this stuff is part of canon. But then if it didn't fit the narrative of the story, like Pablo Hidalgo, it was like, well, if it's in the movies and it's switched up, or what I can't remember the quote was, it's canon if it's in the movies, even if it's different in the books. And it was like, it was this whole ridiculous thing.

And then there was stuff that they didn't pay attention to. And then I heard some other, rumblings that Dave Floney doesn't really, he pays more attention to TV than he does the books. And the books and the games are like, yeah, we can change things up. And like, perfect example,

comic books. I don't think that K2SO. And, you have a strong opinion on this. K2SO and, and, and or they'll meet differently than they did in the comic books. But I bring all that up because it's like,

I stopped getting attached to that stuff. Because I'm like, oh, it doesn't really mean anything. So did you stop caring about it or you stopped being attached? I mean, probably a little bit of both. It's like, I know it's probably a little of both.

I used to, I read the, and I'm not saying everybody has to do this. I read the novels for a different reason. Some people just said, I just want to read a good story, which is totally fine and they're prerogative to do so. I'm starting to really get into it because I was like, oh, it's cool. We could see this type of character pop up. And certain things have happened like that before. Like even Timothy Oliphant's character in Mandalorian was pulled from the books. And it happens, but it just doesn't happen as often as they kind of alluded to,

to in 2012. And I think that's the same type of argument that can be made for the DC. You fans are like, well, yeah, you're doing this whole thing. And maybe it's just a good standalone adventure the way like Joker is and the way that the Batman will be. And if it's that, that's why I'm going into it. I'm going into it. It's just a standalone movie.

It's not going to play into James Gunn and Safran's vision. And that's what it is. But maybe it wraps it out because it might be a little different than what we're thinking. because first of all, all the Snyder people want the Snyder characters, and for better or worse, Ezra is a Snyder creation. Yes. So maybe this gives some closure for those fans. Yeah, maybe.

Maybe. I still think that there's just some of those fans maybe. Other ones are just, they're still going to be on the, you know, the battle field no matter what. Yeah, of course, of course. So, yeah. I bet this movie is, I think this is going to be a top movie of the year, if not the best movie of the year. The way that it...

Look out, Megan. It's Michael Keaton returning as Batman. Yeah. 1989. Terrible movie, huh? Well, come on. But, yeah, but Michael Keaton returning as Batman is a major cell. It's a major cell.

For a different audience. I mean, for a lot of... Yeah, for a different audience. Yeah, right, right. It brings in... Yeah, it's true. But it also... Yeah.

And Tim Burton fans and things, too. Including myself in the old person category. Right, right. It's a different category. Like the youths, they don't give a fuck that Michael Keaton is in this. They don't, if you're, if you're an 18-year-old who's getting into college. Don Affleck was your, was your friend, right. Yeah.

Which who won't show up. Apparently they cut in his scene out and they cut out, Caval scene, they cut out. Because I think they don't want to be, it's such an interesting thing. I want to talk about Jeremy Runner because at least we got a little bit of a positive update here. So for those of you guys who do not know, Jeremy Runner was in a snowplow accident. He was plowing snow in a snowplow mobile and another car next to him got stuck.

And he got out of his snowplow to help the other car. And his plow ended up running him over. Right. And he ended up having multiple surgeries. He was in critical condition. But he actually posted to his Instagram, and he posted a picture of himself. And he let his fans know that it was painful to type, so he couldn't say much, but that he was okay.

And I think that this was some much needed news. We've had at the top of the year, we've had some very awful accidents take place with big celebrities. I'm talking about the NFL right now. I'm with Jeremy Renner here. And I think that just seeing his face meant a lot to a lot of. of people. I don't know if you took a look at the Instagram comments too. It was like the A-list of all A-list every single person. Love you, brother. Love you, brother. You're my brother. Hope you're good brother.

And yeah, because I remember as I was reading it, I'm like, okay, what are the updates? And then the fact that he had the wherewithal to be able to post that picture after the surgery. And I think that from the report also was that he, and I don't know how true, you probably more read up on this than I. But when I read up on it, that the person that was on the first on the scene to help him out, was a doctor on who happens to be a neighbor um and they said it had it not been he probably would

have who knows he would have made it but but then they were able to fly him out and he and he's yeah but well good and the mayor showed up yeah yeah i think also um because he his chest was something of his chest and his legs too so it's like you're you're totally out of commission yeah and he's and he's what he's doing that he's in that show right now the mayor kingston is that what it is he's in that show and obviously i don't know season two i think starting soon They filmed it already? Yeah. Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

Well, I don't know whether this delays it or whether they're mid-production, but I think that they had shot put it. I think it was in the can. Well, I'm glad he's okay. I'm glad that the surgery was successful anyway. But yeah, I mean. Who knows? This is going to be a long recovery.

Who knows what this ends up looking like. Yeah. Alive is at the base level. He's alive. He's alive. And I think that there's, and I heard your stream yesterday when you're talking about it. And like, yeah, livelihood as far as worrying it because he's an actor and all these things still too.

the difference with, say, an actor, like an athlete, right? And none of the time, the actor has a better probability with, even with healing on a big injury. Not maybe not as far as an action star goes. But being able to pivot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. As opposed to the athlete who is like, you know, that's it.

But Brett, do you have a, in particular, what stood out to you about to you, about what Patista said inside of this interview that we were about to talk to? Well, you know, aside from being very daunting to get the makeup on and everything like that, you said something about just not wanting, you wanting to do more serious roles. but there was something else that he mentioned about

it wasn't always good or something there was in the quote there and I wonder what that is. It wasn't all pleasant. Yeah, here's the quote itself is, I'm so grateful for Drax, I love him, but there's a relief that it's over. It wasn't all pleasant. It was hard playing that role.

The makeup process was beating me down and I just don't know if I want to, if I want Drax to be my legacy. It's a silly performance and I want to do more dramatic stuff. So yeah, he was talking about a bunch of different things. I think he was talking about for a glass onion, someone brought it up. But that makes sense on a lot of different levels. And I'll tell you why the Guardians 3 seems to be a close-out for a lot of people,

where Zoe Seldana has hinted this is the end for her. And it seems like all of the Guardians cast were very, very loyal to James Gunn. You look, speaking to Batista, do you remember? I think we covered this on Clare Live, when all that stuff went down with James Gunn and Disney fired him, Batista's like, I'm not coming back unless he comes back. So peace out. And I'm sure that this is similar but different where they're like,

okay, James Gunn probably talk, because they're very close. So James Gunn probably talked to him and said, listen, man, I got this other opportunity here. I'm out. And he's like, well, I'm out too. I don't need to do this anymore. I don't want to do this anymore. And he wants to do more dramatic stuff.

He's always talked about, Patea has always talked about his acting stuff and what he's wanted to do and watching what the Rock did and watch what these other actors. And that's, I respect it and it makes sense. And he wants to move on from the character. I get it. He's really fucking good. He's been getting much better, yeah.

I think that he, like, is unlike the Rock, where I always am watching The Rock, and I think The Rock's amazing, but never have I seen The Rock in a single role where I forget that it's the Rock. But Tista actually, like, I lose myself watching, or lose him. watching it sometimes. Like I'm trying to think there was one movie that I saw him in that I was like, Whoa. Blade Runner.

Was that? Oh my God. He's done so much stuff. Maybe. Maybe. And he has done more comedy stuff. He did Stuber. Did you see that?

Yes. And he was, that was a very underrated movie and an underrated performance. Yeah, it was a good movie. Yes, he was. He's really,

really good. And I want to see him do what he wants to do. And if he can't, then, okay, then we see it and it's done. But like, If he's got those chops, he really has an opportunity here.

It sucks that he said that Drax wasn't all good all the time because I just think he's such a fucking funny character. It's hilarious. And there's nothing like, you know, I'm doing serious stuff is one thing. But in the acting community, we always say being serious is easy, being comedic is hard. But anyway, yeah, I just, I think I'm sad to see that character because I adore that character or whatever. But, I mean, yeah, I respect that he wants to leave because it's, you know,

Not his bag anymore. Well, it's funny about it. I think that that character shined the most for me in the holiday special. Yeah. No, I was just thinking about that. Yeah, they really gave him the room. He was fantastic. Because I thought he was really good in Guardians too,

but I thought that he was just leaned upon to be a joke machine. Yeah. Where the jokes that he hit, not his performance. But you had issues with that movie. What's, well, you haven't heard my take on it recently because I watched it again with Vivian. I like it significantly more than I did. Oh, that's good.

I still think that it's still, at times, they lean on the jokes too much to, but there's much more of an emotional core in that movie than I gave it credit for initially. Isn't it great that as humans were allowed to change our minds, based on our life experience, and based on where our current state is

or whatever you're about to feel differently about art? Shocked. But it's also a comparison to where, you know, when someone wrote on, I was talking about how the MCU has been a little too joking, for me and like, I have issue when you say that because where's it been jockey besides Thor Love and Thunder

and what's the other one? She-Hulk? Yeah, well, She-Hulk is what he didn't use that as an example, but I can't remember which other one. But there's a lot, like, we just talked about Ant-Man and the Wasp. That one leaned way too much on jokes and it wasn't just phase four.

Maybe that's what was the guy's point was. Inside of Phase Four, the ones, She-Hulk with the last, even, yeah, I thought even Dr. Strange, there was some darker stuff in it, but a lot of times, like, this, the Sam Ramey bit of Bruce Campbell punching himself in the face a thousand times, like that kind of stuff. Like, it just takes me, it sucks me out of it.

But Guardians too had a lot of that, but I think because you compare it to something like She-Hulk and something like Thor Love and Thunder, and it's like, it's not even, you can't even compare at all. There's jokey stuff going on inside of it, and I think, I don't know, maybe just Drax didn't

bother me as much in the rewatch. And I thought he's great in the first one. I just thought he had more to do in the first movie because he had more of an arc of where he had this kind of revenge. And I thought he's great in Infinity War when he's coming when he's going after Thanos and he still has that motivation because Thanos killed his family. But I understand. But he was an actor or the character. Yeah. Well, and his jokes came out of no idea. You can see a lot of jokes coming. Just the,

his delivery of, you know, like, talking to who's the, the man. What's her name? Mantis. Yeah. And saying like, you know, she's like, you think I'm ugly. He's like, you're hideous. Yeah. His delivery is fantastic. He was great. He was also when he was in Riddick. Oh, yeah. What is the movie I'm thinking of?

My spy. I'm picturing him at a kitchen table and like a western theme or like a crotchety old guy in the kitchen. But that goes to your point, though, to where it's just you can get lost. And it's just the idea of what was the movie, right? Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, I'm glad that he's going to be doing more stuff. I think that he, you know, he's also, it's funny.

He started his acting career because of his wrestling career was his thing. He started acting career late. I mean, he's got to be in his 50s. Yeah. It's got to be. Who are the other, the Rock, him, Sasha. Because now. You're acting?

Yeah, yeah. Hogan, which. Yeah. Not one of the best. Suburban Command. Jesse Ventura. Jesse Ventura. Underrated.

Roddy Piper. Roddy Piper. The actors of it, the ones who had the best careers. And the Rock is Camer Lou Elbano. Catulabano did store it. With the fucking rubber band. Yeah, but he was in the movie Wise Guys. And it was in the series, the Mario, Mario.

That's absolutely right. But, no, the Rock, the Rock was, is probably the, oh, Stone Cole has been in, has been a Stone. Oh, John Sina. John Sina. Yeah, John Sina. John Sina. So who, yeah, where would you rank out of the. Batista.

Batista are the big three, right? Those are the big three, I would think. And then, wow, women. Let's give, I mean, Sasha with her. her role. And she's got more of a chance now. Mercedes, she just had this. She's, she announced she didn't, she's, she's free agent now. She's going, they're rumoring that she's going to be going to A.W. Who knows where she's going to go? I want to see her come back in, in, in Mandeleur? She was fantastic in the Maldon. She didn't, I wonder if she's going to return. Because there's

no mention of Koska Reeves coming back. She was really, really good. And it was her first real acting job. I think she's going to be, I think she has an opportunity. If I was her, I would explore that a little bit more. Because Rhonda Rousey, tried to make the movie. And that's not, I guess she was MMA first before W.E. But yeah, what was the Ronda movie?

She was in a bunch, she was in expendable. She was in Fast and Furious. She just, no, I'm thinking of there. Yeah, she just wasn't,

she was in entourage. Oh, maybe that's, she wasn't good. She was, she was not, she's not a good actress. She's not at,

like, for some reason, based, Ronda's look, like she just looks like a fighter. She does, yeah. Well, like that, Sasha, like when she's,

when you're watching her, you're not like, Oh, she could be nothing bought a fighter. Right. Well, if you look at the fight, I mean, look, Gina Carrano. We know what,

but she, she went from MMA to, she never wrestled, right? She didn't wrestle, but I'm talking about, like, just the fighters in general, but we would go to wrestling. If you go to wrestling,

yeah, I mean, I'm trying to think who well. I mean, Triple H's was in Blade 3, but like, the big ones, the ones that stood out,

I think for sure, are the Rock, Sina and Batisa. Those are the three that had, like, lucrative, like, big careers, right? Yeah.

But I, But now how you rank, Rock's number one. Hard to say with Batista and Sina and Sina, right? I think, Cina's more famous. Yeah, yes. Yes, but I think, but that's also because of their wrestling careers as well. Sina was like the new Hulk Hogan during that era.

So that's a tougher one. But in movies. He lines a show. He does. I'm curious, though, who, who, the better actor, I think is Batista. Of the three of them or of the two? No, out of the two of them. Do you think the Rock's the best actor?

out of the three of them. Yeah. I think Rock's the best actor out of the three of them. I think that when you look at something like faster and you look at something like, you know, walking tall and I wish he would do more stuff like that. I think the Rock is, then I put Batista and then I put Sina. And I would have put the two of them so far ahead of Sina.

But after seeing what Sina does and Peacemaker, Sina has a lot of dramatic roles in that, dramatic moments in that. Yeah, it's very endearing. Like it's being that shitty character, but like the sad parts of that really hit you. You know, the, of when he's listened to his music and jamming out. Do you see Train Rock?

Yes, he was very funny. He was good. I actually think that, and this is no shade on the rock, I think the Rock is the biggest movie star of them. But I do think in terms of like acting chops and range, I think both Batista and Sina. Over the Rock. Yeah.

Interesting. Okay. Yeah. Fair enough. And maybe not. Well, what the Rock has that they don't is longevity. Right. Right. He's had more, he's had more things.

And it's just like, he's got to get, they love you when they love you. They don't and they don't. Right now he's got a lot of, he's got some, he's got some clean enough to do after black at him. You know, like, and he'll be fine. He's got that kind of, yeah. Well, I mean, it's hard to say it wasn't his fault because. As an actor. No, in the performance.

No, no, no, no, no. I'm just talking about him as a part. Yeah, sure, sure. I just think that, but still, you know, with the, and it's also a matter of with the goodwill with the fans, everything. I think in the rocks, it's fine. And plus he's in something every other Wednesday. So we'll see. All right, before we move on,

I want to bring up another story that we talked about as far as the test screenings go, and that's Blue Beetle, man. Now, Blue Beetle is one same type of situation. where the hell does it land when it comes to the DCU? We don't know. But there are our early test screenings now for Blue Beetle. And that is the Sholomeda-Dwenia-led DC film that comes out in August. And this is again from comic book movie. And they say that 2022 had a good start for the DCU to get back on its feet again.

But 2023 has us hoping for a DC to become an unstoppable machine that just throws out amazing quality. The hope is being faithfully put into the hands of one of their many upcoming films, and Blue Beetle arrives on August 18th of this year. Just recently, a test screening occurred for the film in front of a lucky audience, and just like for the Flash movie, it received high praise for what it had to offer. There have been some early test screenings and reactions say that this movie is super entertaining and features some really great hand-to-hand combat. So they said it could be like a Spider-Man movie of sorts.

It has a young, light-hearted hero. that has gifted powers from some weird bug-like cause and learns the hardships and nobility of what it truly means to stand up and become a hero. Like the Flash movie, this film will host another test screening against sometime on a future date with more added to it. If what was shown at their first test screening was considered to be pretty good so far, we have no doubt that it can get better from here. All right.

So a lot to be said about this. This is one, this was one of my most anticipated. And before we get into that, I just realized something I wanted to say that I completely goofed on. I did a top 10 anticipated movie list. Oh. And I completely forgot. People kept saying it inside of my comments. They're like, you, June was your number one movie of 2021.

I would go, that's my top three were, or my top two, definitely inside of my list were Indiana Jones and Creed. I would put Indiana Jones still at number one, and then Dune at number two. Dune two is my number two. So for everybody asking, how come I didn't put it on there? Because I forgot that is my number two. Now, Blue Beetle was my number 10, so that would probably just drop it down just a little bit. But I'm still highly anticipated. bit in this movie. And as I said in my list, and I'll say it here, like, it is absolutely the bias because Sholo has become a friend of the show, and he's a sweetheart of a kid. Like,

you've got a chance to meet him. He's just the nicest kid, and I root for him. I want him. I want this for him. I really do, because this is like, you guys, root for the good guys in life. And he's a good guy. And he's just, he's just, I met him when he was 17 years old, had his head on his shoulders then. Still, after all the success that he's got, he's still, just a normal, normal kid. and I root for him. And I root for this story because the way that he described it, the way that he talked about it. So I'm happy that these test screenings are going well.

Blue Beetle is an interesting character. Yeah. So this is... You know a lot about it? I know a decent amount because of, luckily, because of D.C. movie news and how much Mike Kalanowski for years was... And Adam Gertler as well, talking about they wanted a blue beetle movie or booster gold movie. Johnny LaCosto even, that was like his go-to.

He wanted a Blue Beetle movie. And I know a lot of people were scared this was going to get the axe when back girl got the axe Because it was kind of like under a similar They were both supposed to be released on streaming and then not only did this not get the axe I got moved to theaters which gave people a lot of confidence in it and I also I don't know him like you know him But I think he's a really talented actor and you say he's a good guy so I think people are rooting for him and it's not your typical What we see in superheroes all the time which like I think is different and and Yeah, I'm really excited for this.

What do you think, Brett? Well, I always love something. I don't have anything to base off of, you know, so I think I'll enjoy it. And I'm, again, with you, I'm rooting. I met him, you know, watch sat here and watch the interview. He shook my hand, you know, and was just, we were kind of sitting there talking and just, you could tell, please give this kid a big career because he's just so, he's talking about, like, he still has to mow the lawn and, like, you know.

His mom's kept him grounded. Yeah. Even back in, like, when he was 17, he would come and talk about his mom just being like, No, I don't care. I don't care if you're the biggest movie star in the world. You got to do your thing. You've got to pick your sister up from school. And I just love that about him.

And he's always been like that. But this movie, this makes me happy that these test screenings are going on and people are responding to it. And it doesn't surprise me that the action scenes. Why wouldn't you? Look at all the training. If you're, if you looked at Sholo and said, look at what he's been doing at Kobri Kai for the last couple of years.

Like, let's use that. So he's probably going to take that over there with him. I'm so curious. I don't think he could leave it if you wanted to. No, of course. Of course not. So that's great. I'm very happy to hear that.

And this is a big one. All right. Further details have now emerged regarding Miguel, Sapna, Chicks, a broad. Departuret departure from HBO Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. Now, Sepnerchik helped create the series, executive produce, and served as the co-show runner on the first of the series. With his exit announcer on the time the show premiered, at the time, the reason wasn't apparent,

but Scepnerchik was a regular helmer of multiple major episodes of Thrones and had spent three years working on Dragon. Puck News via Indywire reports that Scepternich departed Dragon. What's wrong? I think it's Sepachnic. Sepoknik? Well, thank you. Thank you for, I mean, I'm rather.

But I'm not actually sure. I think you're adding an end somewhere. Sapoknik. I think you're saying sapno chick, which, whatever. Sap a chick. Sapachic. What is it? What do you say it is?

Sepachnik. I'm going with that. Sepachnik. You say Sepachna. Yeah, say something. Sepachnik. Miguel, the barter dragon following a protracted standoff regarding his wife, Alex Rabin and involvement.

It's a tongue twister. It's hard right now. and are evolving as a producer on the show. So it had to do with his wife. His wife was accredited producer on the first season, along with making appearances in a handful of episodes as Allison's lady-in-waiting Talia. However, when Miguel made the request to include her

as a producer on the team for the second season, HBO is believed to have declined the request due to her inexperience. A mediator was brought in to resolve the spiraling situation, but it didn't work out, and Miguel stuck with his wife and left the show. foregoing a lot of money in the process. At the same time, he fired his reps at the WME agency

and joined rival CAA with his wife. His exit was accompanied by a first look deal for future projects with HBO, House of the Dragon, co-creator Ryan Condal, now serves as the sole showrunner with the help of franchise author and co-creator George R.R. Martin. All right.

The two married men in this room, I want to know, you guys think is this is this kosher i think he wanted to stay she wanted to believe and they came to an agreement and they he left compromise compromise yeah they compromised and he's so hard to say because you don't know the actual situation of it plus you don't know their relationship plus so it's hard to say like you know if there's a time and and why right like in does he know because there's two sides of it there's the there's the husband that says no she's got the experience she knows they're just not doing it of this, they think it's nepotism, and they think that she, she clearly knows what she's doing.

And who cares is the experience? She's really good at what she does. That's part one. Part two is he goes, she's not very good, but I can't say that. So as I do, I'm sleeping on the couch. So I got to fight, and I got to fight for her. I don't know what the situation was. And that's two of many situations.

But either way, I had heard, and I had even said this before because people were arguing with me. They were like, oh, he left because he wanted to. I was like, no chance he left because he wanted to. I said, I had heard already that there was some rumblings behind the scenes that I didn't know this, but I knew that he was not happy and he wanted to leave. And I think that that I'm curious how much it's going to affect it. Now, everyone's saying that it's all Ryan and George R. Martin, as long as they have those guys and they're going to be fine.

And that very well might be the case. I thought that what Miguel did for the series, it also seemed like he had a lot of loyalty from the directors. Yeah. That's what that's what's... I'm with you. Yeah. I think that this might have a big impact on the show.

We know that the show isn't coming out until 2024. So they have time. Yeah. For sure. However, I think he did. And it's so funny because you guys know I didn't care. I didn't... The pilot was not my favorite of the episodes.

I loved this series. Well, you don't know how to watch. TV. Yeah. We all learned that I actually don't know how to watch. That's why you weren't asked on the show. Yeah. Exactly.

Truth. Truth. God. Go ahead. You're unavailable. We're always working. If you're not, if it's not on Thursday morning, I can't get you. That is so not true.

Every time I ask you, you never around. Go ahead. You want to beat for that? We don't have much time. You want to beat that? I think that they'll be okay because they have time. However, I do think that when there's turnover like this, when somebody is good at their job, that's an issue.

If I was this person's wife and I don't know the situation, and maybe she begged him to stay and he left anyway, But I don't think you let your husband leave this project. I would be like, dear God's day. Yeah, we don't know. Again, don't know the guy on neck. And we also don't know, like, maybe it was a situation to be fair to both of them. They're like, this is bullshit.

Yeah, maybe. Fuck this. I don't want to be here anymore. Totally. Yeah. But sometimes I feel like we do our egos do get in the way. I don't know what happened, but sometimes if you go's getting the way, you bite your nose to spite your face. And I have a feeling if this goes down as one of the biggest shows of all time,

Then he could have, he walked away from a lot of money for sure. And I hope that they can reconcile and maybe be, look, that happens before. Look at the, the James Guns situation. Sure, but even like in television, the showrunner of Dexter left in season four. And that was arguably one of the best seasons, but they made some really a crazy move

in the end of season four for Dexter. And then he was gone. And then he came back for the last season. And then they had the worst finale of any show I've ever seen. The new one? No. Right. When he left.

Well, he was gone and during that time, right. And then they rebooted it. And he was him. So I'm hoping that they could bring him back. Community did that too, right? He left and he came back. But all right, listen. So there's a couple stories we left on the table, but that's going to happen.

It's like I would cover this how we wanted to. But we want to make sure that we can get to our favorite subject matter on Thursdays. and that is the TV section by Roxy. Roxy, you got some TV picks for us. I do. Let's start with this one. What do you got? All right.

I knew I was going to talk about this because it's the talk of the town. It was number one on Netflix for quite a bit of time. And I am three seasons deep into Emily and Paris. So it's worth mentioning. I don't think if you are, if you're a fan of this show, this might not be up your alley. If you're watching the big thing, if you like things that are like CW,

you gossip girl 90210.0, then it might be more up your alley. This show is, people talk about it like it's great. The show is not great. It's fun. And it is like a raunchy, sexy, what? It's a great and fun thing again. You know you just did, right? I was, some things are bad and fun.

Okay. Some things are great. Okay, okay. This show is, this show is like dramatic. It doesn't always make. perfect sense and it's a love triangle and kind of all the characters suck and it's like you guys all probably deserve each other but i can't stop watching i binged him one day wow so it's like one of those things that you that's that fun that's i meant all my friends from home from back east

are like oh my god did you see emily and paris like that it's that type of thing okay all right so that's And that's on Netflix. Yeah, it's Netflix. And that's Lily Collins, Phil Collins girl. So tell me about it. You love this. Okay. So this doesn't even fit on my TV picks of the week, but I'm fudging it because it's on Netflix.

So I'm calling it TV. You can't find that on TV. Even though it's straight up a movie. Stutz is, I can't shut the fuck up about Stutz. This is the Jonah Hill interviewing his therapist movie. I have now watched it twice because I feel like this has the ability to change people's lives. Why? Because they're talking about therapy in a way that, like, have you do exercises.

And I'm, like, doing those exercises that this man, Phil Stutz has you do. And they're meaningful and interesting. And you could see how much it helped Jonah Hill. Also, at some point, they, like, take back, they pull back the curtains and, like, strip everything away. Christian, I think you're going to. And Brett, too. This is must watch for you guys. Yeah, I saw a snippet of it.

And I was like, yeah, definitely got to check this out. It's must watch. Like I watched it. Apparently, Robert Downey Jr. did a doc recently too. Yeah, I have to watch. So maybe that will be on my list next week. But this is, if you have an hour and a half, this is what to do with it. Watch that's just, it's great.

But now he's like this, you know, he's like this ladies man. It's like, yeah. Okay. But here is how they made him a ladies man. He's rich and a doctor.

Oh. Yeah. So, okay. He's a four, but he's rich and a doctor. So he's a 10. So he's fuckable. Yeah. I'm not saying me, but some people work.

You know, like you guys are shocked at a rich doctor gets laid. I mean, come on. Come on. So here's what I'll say. Thank you guys for recommending the show because I was half an hour in and I was like, I don't fucking like this. I really fucking don't like this. They're like...

Still? No, when I was a half hour and I was like, they're like kind of like, I feel like they're like making a mockery of women and Claire Dane's in the first half hour. They're like, my ex-wife, she's such a fucking bitch. And it was like, she was a bitch. And it's like he's faultless and whatever. And I was like, oh, God, this is so stupid. But at the end of the first episode, you know the premise of the series, though,

and then I was like, ooh, interested. Did we finish? Maybe I didn't finish it. So I was like, ooh, interested. And then I watched the second episode. I was like, ooh, liking this show. So I'm going to give you guys an update. I'll probably finish it by next week because you know how I go.

Yeah. And I was like, okay, thank you. And it's FX. And I love FX. They've got a lot of zippers. Yeah. And the bear for sure. All right.

Joe Mangonello is one of the people that they brought in this season that's like cracking me the fuck up. And it's just straight up funny. Like not funny where you're like like Atlanta or Barry where you're like, it's just comedy, but I'm not laughing. Myth of Quest is just a fucking comedy. It's a comedy. You're laughing the whole time.

It's great. So it's okay, and that's on Apple. Yep. All right. So the next one. The circle. Oh, yeah. Let's go.

You watch this one, Brett? I've watched one of, I don't know if it was, wasn't there a European version, or is this the European, is this the one where they're all in the house, am I thinking? They're all in a circle? Nope. No. What is this? Well, we're going to find out in a second, don't interrupt her again.

So they're not in a house, they're in a hotel. No, they're all in their own rooms. They can't go in each other's rooms? Yeah. Okay, and they talk only digitally. And some of them are setups, like they're not who they're pitched. Catfish. Catfish, yes.

Okay, all right. So season four, so it's very likely that you just. saw previous season. And the premise is that you're trying to win the circle by, you like, DM each other, you instant message with them, and you, like, put up different pictures, and some of them are really them, and some of them are catfish, and at the end they vote,

and the person who gets the most wins, and I think it's like $100,000 or maybe more. It's a very fun show. If you like reality TV, but you're sick of dating reality TV, this is good reality competition TV. And it's interesting to see how they operate and how they speak with each other. This season everybody is single too,

or at least they're posing as single. So like there's a lot of really cringy flirting. And they'll just get right into it. You have like five lines to text somebody. So they'll be like, what's up sexy? You're hot. And it's like, oh my God. But really it's like a 90-year-old guy typing as a 25-year-old girl.

And you're like, oh, no, don't respond to that. Gross. Yeah. So it's fun. All right. So that's on MetNefil. Yeah, that's on Netflix, and they haven't dropped the whole season yet. I like what they do with their reality shows.

They drop four episodes. They wait a week. They drop four episodes. They wait a week. Then they usually drop the finale. So they've dropped its first two sets. It's very interesting. It's a cool twist on that kind of a dating thing.

Yeah. All right. Last one. I'm surprised 1923 still hasn't been on your list. I talked about it. You did last week? The first week that it came out. Oh, okay.

But you didn't watch it. Did you watch this third? I got to ask you this real quick. I watched the third episode. I haven't seen the third episode. You need to watch the third. Okay. Because, yeah, I just, where does the show go?

I am so obsessed with Stallone right now that it is crazy. Yeah, you're attracted to him. Attracted to him, yes, but more so than that, I just like, this guy is so inspirational.

Yeah, he is for sure. Just as a person. And, like, the way that he is carrying this show, it's like, he could do this until he was 150. I'll tell you also, the other person who's just stand out in this show that people aren't talking about is Garrett Headland. Who's in this show. He plays the, he's the bartender that he partners up with. And I think Garrett Headland, he's been around for a long time, Tron and his other things. But I think he really stands out in this show.

I think the, his driver. Great, too. So good. Yeah. The cast is great. And the agent. She's really good, too. Yeah, it's a really solid cast.

And I like the premise and I care about the characters. I think this is worth people's time and people aren't really talking about it so much. It was up there on a few lists on a few lists as top. And it's doing very well. Not as good as 1923, but it's doing very well. So, all right, well, look, those are all the picks for Roxy TV. And this was a fun show.
