Starting point is 00:00:59 slash home dash trial. How are you? It's nice to see you. So you're joining us here today and we're going to be doing light year. Why am I doing Arnold? Because he's a cameo in the movie. That is a false lie.
Starting point is 00:01:13 There's no other type of lie except being false. Otherwise, where would say it? So it's nice to see you. I can't see you, but I certainly can hear myself talking as I'm delirious now because we've done 87 shows this morning. But we decided to end it with the spoiler review of Lightyear.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Not the fifth movie in the Toy Story franchise, however, a spinoff from the popular iconic Buzz Lightyear toy. Now we see Buzz Lightyear, and this is something funny. A lot of people have been talking about this, and it is agreed that this is the way this movie should have been, the opening of this movie should have been the way this movie has been marketed for the second it came out. And that is in the very beginning of this movie, see a thing that says in 1995 or whatever, Andy bought a toy, his favorite toy, Buzz Light Year. This is that movie, whatever the hell is. That's it. And so you know that basically what you're watching is the movie that inspired the toy. That's the way that should market this thing from the beginning.
Starting point is 00:02:17 However, myself, Winston and Coy, we have all seen the movie. We've done our Toy Story rewatch. If you've been checking out our rewatch series, you have seen that. We did Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, and then we wrapped up with three and four in one video last week, or this past Friday. And now we have the Lightyear movie. We're excited for it. We can't wait to talk about it. And we might pop in a couple stories at the end to see if there's anything going on in the movie news.
Starting point is 00:02:41 We might, may not see where we go with it. But it is the latest Pixar movie. It is the first Pixar movie, I think, since Onward to come out in the theater? No, is that true? No. I don't know if Encanto had a full release. Guys, it wasn't Pixar. Disney just looked like Pixar.
Starting point is 00:02:57 So see, maybe it was onward. But I'll be corrected more throughout the episode. It's going to be a good one. And by the way, if you haven't already, subscribe to the channel. This is, we're trying to get the 50,000 this month. Rewatch series. It helps out tremendously big thing. Big thing slash Sith counsel.
Starting point is 00:03:14 All of it. The reviews, reactions. And if you're watching this and you just found us, subscribe to the channel. I don't cost you any money. I'm going to show a little. And that's it, man. Let's get into it. Let's get into the Lightyear spoiler discussion with me, Winston and Coy.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Let's do it. What's up, everybody? Lightyear just came out. Did you see it? I hope so. Otherwise, why the hell are you watching this show? You were correct. What onward was the last one, Sol and Luca did not have theatrical releases.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Was Luca, was Luca? It was. Wow. Interesting. Okay, so this is the first big. big theater release, and you can understand why. So they showed this trail, that's a trail, I think the first 20 minutes or first 40 minutes, I can't remember, I think it was 40 at, at CinemaCon.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah, 30. 30. I saw someone tweeting about it. That's still a lot, man. The movie's only an hour and 40 minutes or whatever it is, too. We'll just start with this. We've talked about in the non-spoiler review that's a very good movie. It's a very good movie.
Starting point is 00:04:25 It's a very clever way to continue the character going. and by bringing in Captain America. You have a, I like the idea that you have his voice though. And Tim Allen is essentially, they couldn't get Chris to do it. Like,
Starting point is 00:04:45 yeah, the overdramatic version of the character is. That's somebody who sounds like them. Yeah. And for the toy, I think it's kind of a, it's funny. That's how people,
Starting point is 00:04:53 but why do you have Tim Allen do it? It's a good way to do it. What do you think of the movie? What do you think of the movie? I think that it actually worked better because I wasn't looking at Buzz Light, you're the toy. I think it worked better that it wasn't Tim Allen coming back because then I was watching a person actor, not a toy acting. And I dug it. I thought it was really good sci-fi film.
Starting point is 00:05:14 It definitely isn't a toy story in the sense that we wondered if it might be. It's more like a CGI animated sci-fi thriller action movie. I really, I really thought it was more, there was more homages to like Alien and like 2001 and like classic. Sci-Fi and Empire Strikes Back than I expected. Like, it's a full-on, like, sci-fi film. And I overall, like, that actually started a little slow for me. I enjoyed the opening, and then there was a little bit in the first act, and then it picked really up and, like, ran great.
Starting point is 00:05:42 I think that I've never, and I know, it's funny when there's a character you know is pandering to you, but you love it so much as you're okay with it. I knew I'd love socks. I am obsessed. But here's the thing. I saw a lot of comments. Winston and I did our out of the theater reaction.
Starting point is 00:05:59 And we both raved about socks. Yeah. And I saw a lot of comments that echoed the same thing that I felt. When I saw that character in the trailer, I said, man, they're going to do the same. Like it's almost reminded me that stupid cat in Ms. Marl, or Captain Marvel. Yeah, yeah. Like that type of stuff and just overcooking it. They're trying to do puss and boots here.
Starting point is 00:06:22 They're going to try this. This cat is going to be annoying. This cat rules. So much fun. Consistently fun. The delivery of the cat, the thing that the cat. Sox was awesome, and I'm not a big cat person, but Sox was awesome. And again, we talked about all of the homages to so many different mediums.
Starting point is 00:06:40 You had your Pixar homage to up with Buzz constantly going out and coming back and like just watch that montage of essentially his best friend getting older and then being gone. But the fact that Sox doubled as, you know, like R2D2 at points. Yeah. You know what I mean? and all of that was just absolutely amazing. The fact that we get into Zerk, so you set up the canon in two, where Zerg is your father,
Starting point is 00:07:07 but ultimately it wasn't. It was other, it was older buzz. Yeah, which a kid might misinterpreted. My first thought was, you see an old man that looks like a young man, a kid isn't going to think multiverse,
Starting point is 00:07:19 a kid's going to think father, and therefore that wasn't a fallacy, which I really don't. They do ask you to use your, you know, your brain a little bit too, because he even says he's dad, Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Not quite. All that. What I will say is this. At what point are they going to announce that Michael Jekino is the richest man in the world? I can't imagine. The guy scores everything. Yeah. And I will say, like, a lot of times.
Starting point is 00:07:44 But, dude, a lot of, yeah, a lot of times there are composers that I can hear and I go, oh, that's a so-and-so piece. That's a so-and-so piece. That's like, Sylvester, you can hear his stuff, right? Like you can hear like even when the late great James Horner was around like you hear like certain things. Same thing for all of them, Elfman, all of them. Jekino is a guy that and I guess like there was stuff in this. I guess if I go back and listen to it. I go, oh yeah, like he's done so many different things, whether it's the Batman.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Yeah. Whether it's. Batman and Spider-Man couldn't be more different. Dr. Strange one. Dude, he did the Planet of the Apes movies. I didn't know that. He listed Dawn and I think a war. I think.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Wow. Yeah, he's done, he's incredible. Like, if you go through that guy, I'm going to bring up, I'm going to bring on what he's worked on. And we're all going to be like, holy crap. Like, and he's not, look at socks. He can't even be, how old is he? I mean, he can't be even.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I'm going to guess I'm going to say he's 46 years old if I was, if I was to guess. He is, oh, he's older than that, 1967, so he's in his 50s. He moisturizes. He moisturizes. He was like 56 or 50, whatever the hell is. For him. All right. Here's what he is.
Starting point is 00:08:58 This is what he's done. Whatever the hell of the owl house is. I don't know what that is. What is the owl? Wait a minute. These aren't movies. This is a music department. His music department.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Composer. Here we go. Okay. So, 155 credits. This guy. And he, wow.
Starting point is 00:09:15 And he, hold on. And he took on five of the last major blockbusters. Two, okay. No way home Batman Dominion. Listen, listen. Thor, Love and Thunder.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Lightyear. Jurassic World Dominion, I had no clue he did that. Even talking right now about that and significantly different. The Batman is significantly different. Spider-Man no way home. That's in the last like, that'll be in 12 months. Joe, Joe Rabbit. So incredible.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Spider-Man, far from home. Bad times at the El Royale. I mean, he is, I mean, I didn't love, I've learned to like Rogue One more than I have. I was pretty harsh on that one for the school. The score, the score. The movie is the best, it's the best Star Wars movie that Disney and Lucas one of my made together. So, um, but, uh, his music I didn't love, but I also say he was, it was Andrew, Alexander
Starting point is 00:10:10 the splot who was on for that film and then he dropped out and Chikino had two weeks to do the score. Wow. Something like that. Two, two weeks. So what he did with it was great. He's, he is, he's a genius. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:23 And because it is not easy. Like, like I said. For me, I'm always saying, oh, that sounds similar to this, or I can pick that up. Like, you can listen to the, you can listen to Predator and Young Guns and Back to the Future and the Avengers. And you can all hear Sylvesteri in there. What was the one you showed us? It was like a Disney. Oh, that was John Williams and Peter Pan.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Yeah, that messed me up. Yeah. I'd never heard of my whole life. I was like, what is this? Jurassic Park and Peter Pan. Yeah. Two iconic piece of my childhood. I'm a lost boy.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I'm a lost boy. In Jurassic Park, there's a T-Rex. That old bomb. You can fly, you can fly, you can fly. Yeah, but anyway. That's about taradactyls. So the music is, the music's fantastic in, in, in this movie. I think he does a great job, as he always does.
Starting point is 00:11:09 The animation is really solid. It's insane, the detail. Like, they gave us an arm that has like a beer holder, but it's like a lightier arm. And legit looking at it in my hand, I'm like, this looks like the movie. Like the animation is so good that the real thing I could touch, looked the same. Well, you know what I liked about it, too.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I liked the start and how they set it up with buzz and how you, first of all, you know it's a movie. So like anything, you don't have to worry about anything being realistic or anything to. Like that, that's the first thing. Yeah. It's like, yeah, first of all, it's also animated. But like the fact that it's, it's a movie that Andy loved as a kid. So, okay, great.
Starting point is 00:11:45 So when it opens up and you see him in this world and he's not, he definitely has those buzzisms from the toy, from the toy itself. The first 20 minutes are all. But he's brave. But he's brave. He's not a putts. He's not, he's like when they have that whole thing with the rookie who was voiced by Bill Hader, who's only in there for like two seconds. But when he when he pops in there and does that and the idea, this whole thing, I have like an enemy mind vibe too, by the way.
Starting point is 00:12:11 But either way, so he takes the, what do you call it the onion? They call it the turn up, the turn up. Takes the turnabout and he, and it's his fault. Yeah. His fault from what happens and they crash ship and they have to, and then they have to live there and how this kind of haunted. And that top gun sequence. There's like 10 minutes of the movie that's straight up Top Gun Maver. I straight up said that it was Top Gun.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Because not only do they have to do the maneuver that's the thing they're training, but also when he's flying, it's Machete. Yeah, so there's two separate Top Gun Maverick sequences in this film, which I loved. You know, it's funny when he's going through that,
Starting point is 00:12:42 you know, he's got to go through those rings and, like, those colors. It reminds me this blanket I have. It's a puffy blanket. Oh. It's a rumple. And they have sent me this. Do these look dope.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I'm telling you, Corey. So I had heard great things about them in general. But then they sent me one when they were going to sponsor the show. And my daughter plays soccer. So I took one out with me. Oh, man, are these comfortable? They should send you two more. I can ask.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And they're fantastic, man. They really are good. I'm sure a lot of people have actually heard about them. There's a lot of blanket options on the market. But honestly, there's only one that is really dedicated to sustainability. And there aren't many blankets out there that can withstand the great outdoors. And I'm telling you, I took this thing out. Every time my daughter is playing soccer on the field, you throw it there.
Starting point is 00:13:26 It's just comfortable. You're always looking for like an outside blanket to just be comfortable with, and this is it. There's over 135 prints. It's perfect for the indoors, any outdoors. You take it to the beach. You take it camping or just on a picket. But picket? Sure.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Or a picnic, just on your own porch. It's really amazing, though, because you have, it's weatherproof, it's durable. And the cozy blankets are made with the same technical materials used in premium outdoor gear and active wear. Rupple's on a mission to introduce the world to better blankets. They recycle. This is what it's really awesome about. When I tell you the comfortability factor, combined with the fact that they recycle over 5 million plastic water bottles a year,
Starting point is 00:14:05 and they offset their carbon footprint, each blanket that they have is made from 60 recycled water bottles. The products are weather resistant, durable, and most importantly, cozy. They are very cozy. And I can tell you a story in a second about my wife, very, very picky about things that we use and that are sent to the house and all this stuff,
Starting point is 00:14:24 and she was skeptical when she saw it at first. She's like, I don't know if we needed the blanket. I'll pick up the blankets. I'm like, try this thing. It's comfortable. I know she loves it. They make the products that can be used in the great outdoors. You can put it on the couch.
Starting point is 00:14:34 You can do anywhere. So here's the great thing about it right now, and you want to try it. I'm telling you, try one of these out. You save 15% off with the code Big Thing, and you can visit rumple rumpel.com slash big thing, and you learn more. It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I'm telling you. I promise you. I love it. I wish I had it in here so I could show you the one that I have. We take it everywhere. And it's this little fold-up bag, by the way, and they give you this bag and my wife's like,
Starting point is 00:15:04 you're not going to able to fit this thing, that thing in there. It's just, it's once it comes out, you're not putting it back in there. Oh, yeah? And I put it and it like, it fits in.
Starting point is 00:15:11 It's comfortable. It's fantastic. That would be nice because like what my green screen background, that takes so much work to fold that thing back inside its case. Like I always get really nervous with big things coming out of small bags. I'm telling you, man, get, get, get yourself one of these. Like these are, they're very, it's great for when you and Kristen go to a, like, like, you go to a picnic spot. You want to go sit down and like just bring.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Good with like sand because we go to the beach. Fantastic. I was thinking like Sanespia, like the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like when you lay out and like, get one. And, and for those people out there who, uh, want to try it out, please try it out because this is how you support, well, you support yourself and you'll be in a very, you'll be in a very nice spot with these comfortable blankets. But you can also. help out the show and use that code.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Don't forget to use that code. And yeah, get rumble. I'm so glad to have them on board. I hope we, and if you get more of them, if everybody goes out and gets one of them, they'll come back and they can send me and Winston blankets. Honestly,
Starting point is 00:16:05 I want one. Seriously, I'm going to try to get you guys one because they're really, really good. And I want to, and when you guys get the sponsors, when you do that, let me know about it.
Starting point is 00:16:13 I want to let them know. So, yeah, the audience is listening. And that's how a lot of people there were saying, hey, how can I support the show? Get the sponsor that you.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Like, man, yeah. All right. Let's keep going. Let's move on over. We'll get to the, this movie in general. I thought what they did. And they set up very similar to Top Gun, right? What Top Gun did well is they set an adventure and a reason for the character.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Yeah. That is like you develop out why Buzz is so determined, he's so bummed about his mistake that he made. Yeah. that he's got this thing that he has to say, and that's his whole thing is that in his heart of hearts, saving everybody is the right thing to do. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:57 But it shouldn't be his whole purpose. And the stubbornness is. And he misses out on everything because he achieves his goal and finds finally gets the cope. My favorite, one of my favorite lines from socks the whole time. He's like, socks, how did you just figure this out?
Starting point is 00:17:10 He's like, I had 75 years to do it. 75 years, three months and 12 days to figure it out. I love that he is selfless as. Buzz needs to be at the end, but you also understand the villain's journey. Like he's, the villain is just him on a one decision away. It's the butterfly effect.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Explain to me, though, as far as the time goes, maybe I just need to see it again, right? Like, so how did, how did they both? He went back in time. No, I know he went back in time. So, that's the furthest back he could go. So there's two buzzes. So they both, so it's basically this. Yeah, but I.
Starting point is 00:17:42 So if he's on this year. Yeah, but how did that one? So they get, sorry, I didn't mean to escape that. But think about it this way. the old buzz lands. They're arresting him. There's no Zerg invading. So he takes off and he's trying to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Yeah, but how does our buzz get back to the same spot? So the reason why is because Old Buzz has now come back and they're being attacked by Zerg, they're not there to arrest our buzz because they are stuck with Zerg. I see. Okay, that makes sense. So there you go. And I really enjoyed that it's one decision away. So the old buzz basically without that old buzz, our bus doesn't exist.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Right. And because of the. decisions that our buzz would have made had he not going through that growth he became old buzz yeah it's just pretty genius it's so simple in its complexity which i really dig for a movie like this it was and i love that and it was sad when the when the future buzz uh in the future uh socks yeah like like i got five minutes dude bro yeah yeah oh i was hoping old hairball and you get the the cutter like the laser cutter yeah he uh he uh he uh he yeah he but he Even the stuff that he did when he would go boop, boop, boop, beep, beep.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Oh, it's meow, meow, meow, meow. It was so funny. So stupid and so funny. I've laughed so much more at that cat than most ever any cartoon has ever given me. He might be my favorite Pixar character. I forgot because you're not a big animated guy. No, I'm a big cat guy. Yeah, like he, I was shocked, man, how much because it was his delivery.
Starting point is 00:19:08 And there was something, I remember it was delivery right up top of something that he said. I think when they, when Buzz first gets him, you can't remember what the line is. I have to see it again. But he says something. I was like, oh, I'm going to like this. Who voices? I don't know the guy. But yeah, he does this cat thing around his legs.
Starting point is 00:19:23 He's like, I am here for your comfort. You don't have a choice. The fact that he's trying to find a light to help them see and that he accidentally puts a laser. Oh, oh, oh, oh, I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna get you. I could not get over that character. Yeah, well, they didn't rely.
Starting point is 00:19:35 But I'll tell you, they didn't rely on a lot of cat jokes. When, I mean, they did the, they did the moments, the cough up. They did the laser thing. And they did it just right. Yeah. They didn't do it enough to where they had to rely on it. So Chris Evans plays buzzes.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Lightyear. Kiki Palmer was great as Izzy Hawthorne. I'll talk about Tyke in a second. Dale Soles is Darby Steele is the older woman. Peter Sohn. Oh, wow. Do you know what Peter Sone is? He's the director. He's the director. I'm 99% sure. I could be wrong. He's the director of the what's the dinosaur movie of the Pixar didn't do? No, good dinosaur? He's the director? I want to see if I'm right. That's insane. Yeah, he's the director of the Good Dinosaurs. Wow. And so there's only one reason.
Starting point is 00:20:22 And so he was the voice in Luca. He was in somebody. He's a pet collector in Good Dinosaurs? So where's the director? That's incredible. Directed the Good Dinosaur, Elemental, the other one. So the reason I know that is because when we went to D23, he's been working with Pixar for very long time. His comedic timing is incredible.
Starting point is 00:20:41 He's fantastic. I had no idea that Peter Soan was the voice of Sox. That's great. So he was he told a very touching story about his mom and his and his brother I think for when it came to When he when he got good dinosaur because he was given that and and what's what's unfortunate is I think he because he's not he hasn't directed since Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:21:04 It was a big mom I don't necessarily think it was his fault to be honest with you but uh Either way it's glad he's he's clearly still with them he's been with them doing doing stuff with them But now he's now he's doing the voice of socks but I did not realized that was Peter's son. I liked the use of James Brolin when he wasn't. Zirk. I thought it was great to have a gravelly older sound. Because it sounded like it could be an older Chris Evans. I really like that it just sounded like a grizzled. I thought he did a great job. There was a funny thing on the carpet. The person, my friend Jay Stubbs actually was running the Pixar like the main hub carpet. And she asked, um, you're this iconic sci-fi voice and your son is an iconic Disney villain
Starting point is 00:21:43 voice. Like I never put that together. She's like, who would win in a fight? And James Browland? Yeah, of course. But James Browland's like a good dad. So he's like, well, you know, I love my son. So, uh, and he just got really paternal. And I was like, what a magic moment on a Disney red carpet.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And, uh, he like started talking about how he was proudy was of his son and like totally took it in that direction and how like he made this movie to appeal. Not really. But I'm like, that's a clever way to go like, but I love my son. What's a thanus? What's a thanus? What's a thanus. What's a than a chance you watch anybody.
Starting point is 00:22:10 But, uh, it was a really adorable. So the humor in this movie works very well. I will say this. I am one of Tycho Watiti's biggest fans. Yep. I think he's a very talented director. I think he's hilarious. I've had the opportunity to sit down and talk with him a handful of times,
Starting point is 00:22:29 and he is naturally a funny human being. And I'm not talking about it on camera. I'm not talking about it just naturally just when he's not on. I thought his character was the least funny in the whole movie. Really? Yeah, I thought that they, I thought he was the only character to me that was a little overcooked. I thought his character had funny moments
Starting point is 00:22:46 Like with the spear and some other things too I felt like he was the character written for kids I feel like he's gonna be loved by kids You're probably right Do you know what I mean like the pen thing Way too many times for us Yes and it ended up being really funny for the payoff But it was that family guy thing where it's like
Starting point is 00:23:00 It honestly felt like to me That corg was just redesigned Like it felt so similar to corg Interesting I didn't necessarily separate He wasn't as dopey as corg though Yeah He was with the with the
Starting point is 00:23:12 Oh a pen A pen It was pretty dopey yeah you're right I don't know. I guess he could see similarities there for sure. But yeah, he just, but I thought corg to me works better.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Yeah, I think corg was funny. Because there's less corg. Like corg is used in moments. He was with us the whole time. I just thought his jokes were funnier. Yeah. I didn't think that the jokes worked as well for,
Starting point is 00:23:30 sure. I think he pommers rushed. But I think part of that too, Christian, is the fact that like, you didn't necessarily need that character. Because you had, even though Sox wasn't a doofus,
Starting point is 00:23:43 Sox was the one giving us the kind of stupid humor like that Because it's like partial cat humor Partial like smart humor like I had 75 years Sort of like add that in When it was already kind of like a silly movie In a lot of ways like the vines constantly ripping people So funny the slapstick stuff was great You already kind of had that and so it felt overdone
Starting point is 00:24:02 And Darby who was still souls was her bits about the parole And Ken had a weapon and all that it's great The fact that she could actually make a bomb out of any Yeah and she's got the device. Oh, and the portal jokes. Give you the, the rapper. Now give me the gum.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Yeah. The portal bit was funny with him, though. When the portal, like, self perpetuates itself. Oh, like that was a good beat. But I did like, that one joke that I was like, he's like, he's chewing the gum. And she's like, give me the gum. And he's like, well, the juice is still in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:30 It was a very tight. It was very a tight, very tyca type, uh, jokes. I like the action, even though animated, because I do struggle with animation, that there were moments of gender and like gas, but like when she looked at at space, when she has to do the space jump. and has to like, I mentioned gravity. Like,
Starting point is 00:24:44 it felt like good gravity. So I, so literally, you like gravity? Did you like gravity? I love gravity. Oh, I think gravity's really good. But,
Starting point is 00:24:50 but I literally say, I have script issues more than, the movie's an intense ride, but the writing killed me. Because like George Clooney is like a scientist and he does the dumbest stuff. That's fair. But all I was going to say is,
Starting point is 00:25:00 we talked about this in the film. Had I, had I not seen gravity, I don't know if I would have been as scared as she was. Having seen gravity, knowing what could happen. I was like, because when they tilted down, I got vertigo.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Like, I was a cool moment of like, okay, space. Like, that was rad. But, but I, so I've been quiet because the main stuff I wanted to talk about was a lot of the homage stuff that happened. Can you wait before you do it and hold that point? Because look what I'm holding up right now. Oh, wait. Is that you got? See, I'm already almost done.
Starting point is 00:25:31 It is indeed. It is indeed. Ladies and gentlemen, Athletic Greens. And now everybody, now I'm getting a lot of people now who are trying athletic greens. After I've been saying people, you should check it out, you should try it. what do you think?

Starting point is 00:26:06 It does not. It's got a fruity taste to it. I love it. I drink it every day, because you need a lot of energy. And for me, I always thought I didn't have enough time to keep doing vitamins, but I wanted better gut health. I wanted more energy, optimized immune system, all of it. I've been doing it forever.

This is nice because I can tell it's working, but it's also not like chewing my lawnmower.
Starting point is 00:28:12 It's exactly right. It's good. And so like I said to you guys earlier, once again, find a sponsor that you guys like with us. And I think Athletic Greens is that sponsor. And make sure if you want to support yourself, especially if you want to support your mental health and everything else to go on over again and support the show as well and get yourself some athletic greens. just unnecessary. What did he do? He just said,
Starting point is 00:28:37 Oh, I was showing athletic greens. I was going to get a little, whole coconut. You got to make sure that people know what the athletic greens go to.
Starting point is 00:28:44 That's all athletic greens. It's just that pump. That's right. That AG1 pump. Okay. What's that? What are you, what we're on,
Starting point is 00:28:51 the mahes? Oh, okay. So the very beginning, the very beginning is, is word for word, buzz coming out of the toy ship.
Starting point is 00:28:59 And I wouldn't have caught it. We'd not just watch Toy Story 1, but his whole, you know, on the strange planet. The surface is spongy and non-poored. The rewashed really helped this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:08 So caught all of that. There's the fact that while they're on the ground with the rookie, that the rookie is in red. So you have the red shirt nod to Star Trek. So you have that. Obviously, we address the whole Empire Strikes Back. Just what he's wearing also. He's wearing the Daggabai outfit for a lot of it.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Yeah, exactly. You have obviously the Empire Strikes Back. about like I'm your father. They did that in Toy Story 2. Yes. They obviously do their own twist now with old Buzz. You have the fact that at the beginning of Toy Story 2 when Rex is playing the game,
Starting point is 00:29:43 the mover he jumps over Zerg and then shoots him, tries to shoot him with a laser and blows up. Dude. Buzz does that exact move when fighting Zerg and this one, he jumps over him and he shoots him a couple of times and then that fights going on there. Did you say the first opening dialogue, right? Yeah, yeah. I said that one.
Starting point is 00:29:58 I'm trying to think some of the other stuff that stuck out. Well, the Trinity and Beyond. Well, the gun being a pew, the tennis balls, which is from the second and third one, like the actual moments. Yeah. I like the infinity and beyond stuff the way they used it also. Oh, that was. Well, because they did it with the, you know, the grandmother was his or his partner from the get. But then even that joke that they played in the trailer with the, oh, you want me to pull your finger.
Starting point is 00:30:23 But then having it come back to where she's the one who does it at the end with him. It's earned. It feels really special. It is. And it wasn't a lot of the cliche moment where he's like. Because a lot of these times you get, okay, well, he's got to find himself, he's going to be a real jerk. He was never really a real jerk. I like that.
Starting point is 00:30:38 He was just stubborn. And his stubbornness is also what solved the problem. It was. And then he had to be unstubborn to unsolved the problem. He literally had to let go of the very thing he's been seeking. He's got tunnel vision. Yeah. And even when he's when he's going and it's, and it's not that he's selfish.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Because when he's going to do that when, when they're all cloaked and invisible and he's going for the move, he forgets. He's like, I forgot to tell him about the timer. Yeah. And like that was such a moment of like, it's, you didn't do it because you were being a jerk. You did it because you were just trying to get out and do your thing and get the mission gun. And that's just human. Right. Which I enjoyed.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I like that everyone had flaws. Yeah. That's ultimately how the toy was too. No. Absolutely. Ford, four, since I just watched it this morning, so I didn't catch it while we were at light year. The slingshot maneuver. If you remember listening to your inner voice, he says, all we have is a slingshot maneuver.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Oh, I can slingshot maneuver. That's the entire thing of him. making the crystal is slingshotting around the sun to try and to do a slingshot maneuver. So there's stuff all over the place. You obviously mentioned Top Gun. It doesn't apply to the OG. It would apply to Maverick. But obviously they were being developed at the same time.
Starting point is 00:31:44 There's no way they would have known about that. But it was so, it was just so fascinating. I don't know. I remember Maverick was supposed to come out in 2019. So you think maybe they like saw a screening or something? I don't know. It's probably not. But you never know.
Starting point is 00:31:58 But the idea, I mean, even when the wings come out, obviously. Oh, man. the wing moment. That was such a theater cheer moment. How was your audience? Quiet. Yeah. It's kind of dead. But I was trying to figure out.
Starting point is 00:32:11 I was like, okay, there's a lot of buzz things missing. The fact that you press the button it makes you into a giant like raspberry or whatever, I didn't know if that was supposed to be a nod to Willy Wonka, but you had that. And I was like, okay, so when does it become the wings? And I was like, okay, he has a gun. When does he get his arm laser? So the fact that he at one point throws that on, I was like, oh, that's cool. And it was like, oh, the escape pod was the thing.
Starting point is 00:32:34 That's also dope that is escape pod as the jetpack. Yeah. Like it was all the little things on how they connect, not only connected it back to Buzz and Toy Story, but all the nods to the different. And when they finally sued up in the full Space Ranger authentic that we know, because there's piece, piece, piece. And then when they're fully in it, that's such a, that's such an Avengers moment.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Like that big, like, yeah, we did it. I, yeah, I think maybe the reason I like the theater experience, a little bit more than you is the actual audience when they're good. And I think that's why I fight for the premieres because the press audiences are always so uppity. And I think I got really offended when they wrote about me.
Starting point is 00:33:10 It's a Venom thing. Did I tell you about that? No. Oh, please tell me. I just saw you get so giddy. So in the Venom press greetings, I enjoyed Venom one, which I quite enjoyed.
Starting point is 00:33:23 In Venom one, I literally stood up and cheered when Tom Hardy gets in the lobster tank, like a fool, like an actual monster. And I read, three different reviews saying well clearly someone in the audience enjoyed it because in a moment of pure blah blah blah blah and like very derogatory
Starting point is 00:33:39 stood up and cheered and it was so condescending and so blah blah blah I'm like I don't think I like my fellow press people like I literally was condescending I don't remember because I tried not to it felt like a Drew McQueenie thing no but like that said just the best so like ever
Starting point is 00:33:55 since I like the premieres because those are people celebrating the film versus critiquing the film true wouldn't do that to you I just felt like I mean, I don't think he knew me then. But I, you know, the funny thing is it also just, I guess, depends. Because we went to a press screening. Oh, that's a thing, too. We went to a press screening of No Way Home.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Yeah. People were cheering their ass off during that. That's true. Again, it was, it was 2 p.m. It wasn't super full. Right. There was a nighttime screening also that I just want to. I'm sure everyone was at.
Starting point is 00:34:24 And I'll say it. I publicly, I mean, publicly should apologize to Winston. Do you know the whole thing that happened? No. So. So we get so many of these emails and trying to schedule this. We've been trying to schedule all of this for so long. So I had gotten two or three emails from Jurassic Dominion to this.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Yeah. And then I remember scheduling with you guys and I asked you, did you do. That day and I was like, I'm good. I said, do you have a screening for a light year? Yeah. I'm going to the premiere. I'm like, great. So I forwarded an email to Winston in my mind.
Starting point is 00:34:53 I'm like, okay, light year for Winston. Do you want to go to this with me? And he's like, yeah, I'll go with you. I'm like, great. So then I was like at one point I coordinated Jurassic World with them also So we go and see Jurassic World together And then I'm going to see Lightyear right before I go I'm like hey so I'm going to meet you over at the theater right and he's like
Starting point is 00:35:11 Wait what? Here I can read you the exact same thing I don't want to give away where the actual Oh okay So I say you're going to meet it's at the theater and he and he and so he's like He calls me back but I was on a phone call Yeah couldn't take his call so I'm like I guess so just meet me there and then when I'm I'm assuming it's fine but when I but when I'm there I'm like, so he writes, you know, so I'm supposed to meet you?
Starting point is 00:35:32 I'm like, yeah, man, he's like, for what? And I go for the screening. And he's like, we got a screening to him? And I go, yeah, man, come on. We got to figure this out. I was like, I, I was like, you got to put this stuff in your calendar. Yeah. And then he's like, so he's like, yeah, probably not going to make it.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I'm like, no problem. I'll do. I can do it with Koi. So he's like, hey, I've just got out of this thing I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to rush over. So he comes in like he just ran seven hours like that. Funny story about this. So I, part of it is, A, I was in therapy at the, so I called him right before the therapy session started because he said, are you coming?
Starting point is 00:36:05 Right. And I was like, what? What? What? And so then I'm like, I'm listening to my therapist and I am taking notes because she's trying to give me some good advice, but I'm also trying to text Christian. So I'm looking right in the care of like, cool, yeah, look up this TED talk. That'll be great. Also, Christian, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:36:21 Screening? Who are we? I was like, I'm not done until two. And then right, she ends the session early because she's not feeling well. So I'm like, it's not super far from where I live. I could probably be there in 11 minutes. Is it still worth it? He's like, I just, I'll fill you in on the first 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And I'm glad I didn't miss it because the first 10 minutes are great. Yeah, and it didn't, and because it started late. It's all right. But when I tell you, I was ripping and running through cars all the way to the screening. He was like buzz. He was like buzz. Sling shot maneuver. And so here's the other thing that I told you.
Starting point is 00:36:54 I have a small tear in my head and one of the tendons in my heel right now. Oh, dude. the car, I'm on the fifth floor parking structure of where we're seeing this thing. The worst. And I am hauling ass. When I'm running straight, I'm fine. When I start to curve at angles, I'm like, oh, God. And I almost threw this old lady into a fountain
Starting point is 00:37:11 because I was trying to rip around corners so fast. So between two movies back to back this week, because we had Jurassic in this, and us filming five today and Christian texting both of us, the chaos that ensued. And let the record show, Christian said you have a screening. And because Christian gives me so much crap, I didn't say I have the premiere. I'm like, yes, I have a screening and didn't elaborate that was the premiere.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Oh, no, I was very conscious because I was like, he's going to give me crap if I say premiere. So I was very much like. So, boy, so that was the funny part is that I know I said because you said in your email response, you would be there. And I was like, Christian, this is the email. It says Jurassic World Daily. But he's also, this, this wasn't the tone of the conversation. The tone of the, the words are accurate.
Starting point is 00:37:56 But the tone is not. The tone was, the tone was me going, I'm pretty sure I sent that. And he goes, I don't think so. Let me check it. And he goes, he's like, no, no, no, no. Look, it wasn't like, ha-no-no-da-da-da.
Starting point is 00:38:10 In my head. In your head, that's what you wanted to say. But the funny thing was, I'm sitting here going, am I crazy? Did I miss? Did I? I was like, literally, whatever we have these, he's like, you need to put it in your calendar.
Starting point is 00:38:20 I don't want to be an ass. I was like, I put everything. What would be said in my calendar? But I was like, maybe I forgot. So. Yeah. So, so where the hell. I'm trying to find the light year.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Literally, he texted me, going to see Dominion. Oh, that's the other one. Can't find. Now, keep going. Because then the only light year conversation is you saying, and will be good for light year.
Starting point is 00:38:44 That was the conversation about light year. I read through all the texts because I was trying to find it. Oh, that's so funny. Unless you had a one-on-one conversation about something. Oh, you know, Christian, you texted me separately.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Hey, just making sure that you got a screening to light year. I said, yep, good to go and send you a picture of twice. Because I was like, not today, Christian, not today. Not today. I want to see a post picture of Chris Evans. I know. My last bit. It's hilarious.
Starting point is 00:39:12 I literally thought of you. It was like, I know who I'm texting. Nope, not giving him this one. Not giving him this one. No, I know. I saw you exactly what I was like. The second I saw the Chris Evans post, I was like, yeah, he went to the premiere. Yeah, there he is.
Starting point is 00:39:24 There is. There is. It's hilarious. hilarious. Met his mom. It was adorable. He's a mama's boy like me. It was really precious.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Langer was adorable. That was such a cool family vibe. Yeah, yeah. Like having families sharing multi-generational. You know, Chris is like a little bit older than us or like between our ages.
Starting point is 00:39:41 So his growing up was with Toy Story 2. So he was speaking with reverence of it. And his mom raised her kid with Toy Story. So I got to see a mom proud of her son who happens to be Chris Evans. Proud of him for playing lightly. So it was a really like, warm. I thought he did great jobs
Starting point is 00:39:57 a year, by the way, because I think that that's not easy. Like, I don't care if it's a voice performance or not. He said it was intimidating and put a little spice on the Tim, and I was like, you clever. It has to be.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Yeah. It has to be because that's an iconic character. Because it's his character, too. Like, he grew up watching Toy Story. There's not a lot of people. There's not a lot of people that are going to be able to get away with because the fans,
Starting point is 00:40:22 you definitely heard it from some of the fans. Like, how come Tim Allen's not in it? But because it's Captain America and because it's Chris Evans, a lot of people have been like, that's all right. And he's a bigger Disney geek than anyone. So I feel like if anyone's going to be forgiven for replacing Buzz Lightyear, it's a Disney geek who's already in the family who is Chris Evans. I mean, I won't lie. I was one of those people that was like, Tim Allen's not dead.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Why didn't you just get like? I think we would have been distracted. I think the other part of it, too, to be honest with you is that you also, Tim Allen as, like he's still obviously doing, he did fine with Buzz and Toy Story 4. you also, he's getting up there. So you also need a younger buzz for that anyway. Should have to play his dad though. That would have been great. That actually would have been, that would have been nice.
Starting point is 00:41:01 If not his dad, have him be old bugs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I meant. Yeah. But yeah, you know, I think that would have been, that would have been the move, I think. That's clever. I like that. You know, it's whatever.
Starting point is 00:41:13 It was a lot of fun. Like, I think they nailed it. For what the movie set out to do, they completely accomplished what they set out. And it wasn't really, and there was never really like a massive bad, guy, you know? Yeah. And it's the fact that it was just kind of a, the, the buzz that had tunnel vision. Yeah. Just couldn't get out of his own way and ultimately becomes Zorg, you know?
Starting point is 00:41:32 Yeah. Whatever. So like that was, I thought all that played out really nice. I love like the length of it with movies that are now two and a half hours. Oh, so nice. Two million. Yeah. Like that's, that's too.
Starting point is 00:41:44 There's no reason for this movie to be anywhere over. I will say I was the one thing I was pretty bummed about that was the two post-credit scenes. Yeah. They were, I mean, they were very. very OG trivial. Well, but the difference between something like this as opposed to the MCU and the MCU just trivial ones like the Bruce Campbell one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:01 It's like, how is this furthering your storytelling? Right. There's no storytelling to go past in Lightyear. It's like, this is just fun, cute scenes. I just thought that it could be something with a fun cute scene with the toys. I like that a lot. I thought me, yeah. Because you had two ideas.
Starting point is 00:42:14 You had either the toys were watching Buzz's movie. Yeah. And that's my story. Or we both thought this would be a great idea if like Andy leaves. the movie theater with his mom and he's like, Mom, Mom, I have to get a Buzz Lighty! Oh, that was incredible! And then she goes, okay, maybe for your birthday.
Starting point is 00:42:29 And that's what kicks off Toy Story. And then it's a prequel. But I think that the reason why they didn't do that is because they showed you in the beginning of the movie, the little opening thing. And the animation style might change so much. I was thinking visually. They could have done it. They could have done it like the old way, but the tech is so different.
Starting point is 00:42:44 Yeah, but I just think that the other reason why they did, they wanted it to stand alone as its own movie and not have to rely on any toy story or stuff at all. I just thought that it would have been a cute little tip of it. I want a Woody Western. Do you need it though after Toy Story 2 after we talked about it? That's a fair point. I really need it because I think Toy Story 2 kind of did his origin. It was like, you know, what are they going to do? They're going to go back and just show like the stuff like, you know, the 1950s.
Starting point is 00:43:06 People are going to be a lot of people have been asking for it. That's, and maybe. If they do it, Tom Hanks would, that's the question that they're going to have, though. Well, Tom Hanks voiced himself in Toy Story 2, so it could be because he's theoretically the same voice actor from the show is the toy, unlike Buzz. Well, no, but it's not, though. The toy is that. Well, our toy.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Oh, right. But in the movie, it's right. It's him twice. So theoretically, it is the same voice actor. Could be. But then you're going to have Tim Allen just like. Bro, I would love a Mr. Potato Head, Shawshank Redemption.
Starting point is 00:43:35 So I got a, I got a Mr. Potato Head pitch. You ready for this? Go for it. It's Memento meets David Fincher. And it's Mr. Potato Head loses his face and has, he has to figure out who he is again.
Starting point is 00:43:46 So it's him discovering himself. It's a self-aware. Who am I piece about? about potato head to scoffrey That's pretty funny But they've done a lot of toy story Like little shorts on Yeah
Starting point is 00:43:58 They should do more stuff like that on Disney Plus They need that fuel For sure But like all the heats up too Overall movies Inside of this franchise I mean I'll tell you I wouldn't mind seeing a light year too
Starting point is 00:44:08 I would I would see it I'd be cool seeing a light year too I'd watch light year two And especially because I think Chris wants to not be just Captain America forever Like I think he wants
Starting point is 00:44:16 You know other things Between this and Knives out I think he'll be fine. Oh, he's doing right. He's on the right panel. His team is directing too. Yeah, and that's what he wants to do. All right, before we move on, last thing to tell you about,
Starting point is 00:44:28 and I've been talking about a lot of story blocks, if you've been making a lot of videos, then you know about story blocks, and you should be excited about story blocks because there's so many great things that we've been talking about with this content. With, it's basically, if you guys are making your own video content,
Starting point is 00:44:46 story blocks is absolutely something for you. It's something that you should try. if you want to try for video assets. I've been telling both Winston and Coy about it. And if you didn't know what StoryBlocks was, its sole purpose is just to exist to help you bring all your stories to life without sacrificing your vision due to time, budget, resources.
Starting point is 00:45:03 Every creator should definitely have a StoryBlocks membership. It changes the face of stock footage with more diverse and inclusive content in their library to help creators continue to tell stories and their own unique ways. So they have unlimited all-access plan that gives you unlimited downloads over the, the one million assets in their library.
Starting point is 00:45:21 You can try out multiple options quickly and find the perfect fit so you can create more and spend less without sacrificing quality. Video is the most effective way to capture an audience's attention, and as a result, modern storytellers are always challenged with creating more video content at a higher quality involving more voices in the process and distributing on more platforms than ever before. So some of the things you can face as a creator is whether it's output demands or time or budget or knowledge, creative inspiration, passion, burnout, mental health, it's all there. Starting point is 00:46:17 Especially for what you're doing with TikTok and everything, too. You should be used in story blocks. So, all right, before we wrap up today, let's get an overall score for this movie. What do you give it? Out of five, Winston. Out of five, I'm giving like a 4.8. That's pretty high. Wow.
Starting point is 00:46:37 I really enjoyed it. And I'll be honest with you. I think part of it is the storyline. I think they did a really good job. But Sox pushed it from like, maybe like a 4.4 to like a 4. he's that. Okay, okay. The perfect blend of humor wasn't overjokey and the stuff.
Starting point is 00:46:52 Just because some of the stuff that didn't work for me, like some of the humor and the missed post-credit scene, and I think that, I don't know, and this is an unfair criticism that I thought that the villain that he was, old buzz actually was pretty brilliant and worked pretty well, but I was missing like what I thought observed was going to be. You know, which again was it.
Starting point is 00:47:11 Your preconceived notion of, yeah, pre-conceived notion. It's my own fault. Nobody else's. I'm going to say that it's still, a pretty high score for me. I'm going to go, I'll go 4.6 out of five. Wow. I'm a little under that, not, not much. I'm at like a 4.4 thereabouts, which is still an A. I just found that the high A.
Starting point is 00:47:29 It's a high A. I just kept finding myself going like, it's kind of similar to yours where I'm like, I would have done this, done this, and this. Oh, wait, I'm having fun. I'm having, I just got it on myself. So it actually might be one of those movies that goes up on second viewing because I'm not in my own head about my journey. Right. Right. And it's almost nine out of ten. Yeah. Like what an incredible time. We're all comparing my. a hundred percent so it's a really it's the movie is out in theaters right now and obviously hopefully you know that otherwise you've just been spoiled for the majority it's a weird choice to watch it here not in the theater entire thing so we had we had we had a we had a blast doing it and if
