Sebastian Stan is making a massive comparison, describing Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II in terms of The Godfather Part II. That's an enormous statement, and it immediately raises expectations for Robert Pattinson's return as the Dark Knight. On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we discuss what that comparison could mean for the sequel, how Matt Reeves can expand Gotham without losing what worked about the first movie, and whether The Batman Part II could become one of the rare sequels that actually surpasses its predecessor. We also have a new update on James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow. New production talk is making the rounds as DC Studios prepares for the next chapter of its Superman story. What can we expect from the follow-up, and what could it mean for the expanding DCU? At the box office, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey continues its incredible theatrical run by breaking another major record. We also discuss the latest CinemaScores and what audiences are saying about some of the weekend's other big releases. Meanwhile, I Play Rocky is generating major buzz following its TIFF premiere. Peter Farrelly's new drama is already being discussed as a possible Oscar contender. Could this become one of the biggest awards-season surprises? And Zack Snyder is back with The Last Photograph. The first reactions are arriving, giving us an early indication of how audiences and critics are responding to Snyder's latest project. #TheBatmanPartII #TheBatman #Batman #RobertPattinson #MattReeves #SebastianStan #Superman #ManOfTomorrow #JamesGunn #DCU #DCStudios #TheOdyssey #ChristopherNolan #IPlayRocky #ZackSnyder #MovieNews #KristianHarloffShow SPONSOR: #CASHAPP PARTNER: Download Cash App Today: https://capl.onelink.me/vFut/76rlxe00 #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. Welcome back. It's Monday, everybody. Hell yeah. Well, looks like Superman, Man of Tomorrow is going to have a more mature tone is what they're saying. That's the rumor. So is that true, false? What do we think? The Odyssey broke another record. Tiff happened over the weekend and I play Rockies getting some.
Oscar stuff, but then
Rotten Tomato
Scores, interesting. There's a lot to talk about.
And then we have a few other stories
that we'll discuss with myself and
John Roker here today on the show. So let's get on
board with it. Sure.
Sounds good to me. Let's get on board with it.
You want to get on board with it?
Cool. Did you shit in there?
Well, howdy-duty, everybody. Welcome back
to the show today. It's Monday.
And joining me on the show.
John Roca is here.
You are muted only because I made you muted.
You're not anymore.
Good morning, everybody.
How are you doing?
Happy Monday.
What the fuck?
Get out of here.
Why is this prick in there?
Get that prick out of you.
Nobody asked for you.
You're a crumb creep.
I want to fight you.
You don't have the courage.
You're a real crumbum.
Put that on camera.
You're a creep.
Have you ever seen that clip?
No, I don't know.
Who is that?
I have no idea.
but I saw it.
I feel these grandpother.
Go ahead.
Maybe, but I saw that,
um,
I mean,
it's,
it's gone viral.
I just love the fact that the insult was crumbum.
You're a crumbum.
It's just so great.
I just wish that we would bring that back.
Um,
and I officially think that I am definitely allergic and one point in another two almonds.
I have,
I have to be.
Oh shit.
Anytime I eat.
On the show.
No.
It's just that,
unfortunately,
every time I eat the damn things,
um,
raw,
the raw almonds,
I,
I cough like a moron.
So.
Oh.
Yeah. So it's something going on. Anyway, welcome back to the show. Everybody, we're going to discuss a whole, an array of different topics. But the good news is this. As I have been telling you guys, look at that. So we have almost 2,400 followers. And I'm hoping that we can get to 2,400 by the end of today's show. I mean, great if we can get to 2,500. We are literally just a week and one day away from the launch of the campaign.
and we're heating up.
We're heating up, John.
It's getting really, really close.
And, you know, it's just like we're putting everything into it.
Wednesday, I am getting on the call with Andrew
and just to finalize the tears.
I can say that we have a pretty good list of what the tiers look like.
I posted the course that I was doing, and I think we sold the video.
I can play that real quick.
I don't know if you saw the video, John, that I posted over the weekend,
but it's, um, Smet's edited. It was really solid. I got to find it real quick.
Nice.
I have it somewhere. Here it is.
How long have you said, I want to start a YouTube channel that you just haven't done it?
Maybe you don't know what the channel is going to be about.
Maybe you're thinking about equipment. Maybe you're thinking about thumbnails. Maybe you're thinking
about what is your first video even going to be about. And eventually you spent so much time trying
to figure everything out that you actually never even hit that report button. And that's why I created
this 40-day creator challenge. I spent years building various YouTube channels, making content,
hosting shows, doing interviews, and learning what works, and most importantly, making a lot of mistakes along the way.
So over the course of 40 days, I'm going to help you find your niche, build your channel, figure out your equipment, get comfortable on camera, create thumbnails and titles, understand analytics, and actually publish your videos.
You know, this isn't something where I want you sitting around to just watch hours and hours of lessons.
You're going to have something to actually do.
You're not going to spend 40 days learning how to become a YouTuber.
You're going to spend 40 days becoming.
So if you're waiting to finally start your YouTube channel, this is it.
This is the right time.
Join me for the 40-day creator challenge, and let's build the channel together.
Come on.
We'll have a blast.
That's one of the tiers.
And what's great is I posted some of those, some Instagram videos about that too.
And I already have people that are interested in it.
And that's, there'll be limited tiers, obviously.
So that will be one of the things that we're offering.
So we hope that people are signed up.
And that's why people are interested in that 40-day thing,
that you should get notified now because it looks like those, I mean, I'm lucky.
It looks like those are going to go pretty fast.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, I'm a big fan of people who are successful in a particular business,
giving that information back to other people who are starting out.
It's really important because so many people, you know,
think they can talk about stuff when they haven't actually succeeded at the particular.
thing they're talking about. So I think it does give you a lot of weight that you have that history
and the track record. You've been doing this for a while and people know you. So I think it's smart.
Very smart. I appreciate it. So we're going to dive into it and we're excited for it. It's because like
I said, I'm putting everything I have into it for the next when we start on the 22nd from the 22nd
until the 22nd of October. It's going to be nonstop, full steam ahead. I was looking at the
records, dude. And they're breakable. Like as far as the I think that. I think that
The record for a 30-minute scripted pilot on Kickstarter is in the 300,000 range.
So I think that, especially with our announcement, we're going to make soon, I think that we can break it.
And, you know, and I think that people are going to want to be part of it.
And, you know, there's doubters and there's people out there who are skeptical.
Oh, well, there's always going to be doubt.
Well, yes, but there's people, there are people who are saying, you know, good luck to you, and I hope that you do it.
And then there are people who are just mean, right?
And like, I kind of want to just shove it up their assholes.
That's one of the things that I'd love to do.
I'd love to do that.
But look, we're going to, we're going to make it work together.
We're going to lock arms and we're going to do it all together.
And that's all the fun.
That's it.
That's amazing.
I am so surprised you did not respond to my text today.
How good was that text about the winners?
Did you see it on the one?
You weren't on last week, because maybe you didn't look.
I wasn't on last week.
Yeah, unfortunately, because of the holiday.
But it was a giant.
You should look at the...
Oh, it's...
Oh, you were putting a little giant's references in there.
More than one.
More than one.
Jackson Dart, Isaiah Likely, Giant.
There you go.
Did you watch that game?
Come on.
I did.
I watched the highlights of the last night.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was really surprised.
Giants look real good.
I mean, I was surprised too.
Is it because they look good or is it because Dallas sucks?
I don't know, but we'll see.
Because a lot of people thought Dallas was going to win this division.
But after that game...
Their running game looked good.
Everything's...
Dart looked good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, they looked good.
He just needed a new coach.
Yeah, it's very possible.
I mean, day bowling, a day ball ain't Harbaugh, man.
So Harbaugh is a way better coach.
So I'm saying.
So look, I mean, I don't want to get too,
I don't want to get too excited because every time I get too excited
and it's like, oh, oh, the game won.
They've ever won a game since.
Yeah, of course.
So it's going to happen.
But it was just nice to beat the Cowboys in the opening day.
I hear you, man.
I hate the stupid Cowboys.
Anyway, and then the other thing is, I don't know how this happened.
And I think I told people this beforehand.
You'll be upset about this because you're a Yankee fan like me.
I am.
Somehow my little one has become a Met fan.
What the?
I don't know.
It's through school or something too.
It's bad parenting.
I blame you.
I blame myself.
I think that we were watching the Mets and the Yankees over the week, and we watched both games.
We watched the, where I missed the one on Friday, but we watched the one on Saturday
where the Mets absolutely trounced the Yankees.
Yeah, yeah.
And she was like dancing and doing these.
It was pretty cute, though, to, like, have, like, we were, like, smack talking one another throughout the, and then the Yankees won yesterday.
So, so, so it was a series, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, they won the series.
But it was like, they, they look good.
Yankees looked good.
It was, they had one, one bad game on, uh, cool.
The last time the Giants and the Jets won their openers, the Yankees won the World Series three months later.
So I'm just saying, I didn't realize the Jets.
I didn't realize the Jets one.
It was funny because my daughter, my daughter goes, I'm a Jets fan, too.
I go, no, you're not.
I go, I said, I said, I said, if you're a Jets fan, you're not.
you're not allowed to sleep in the house.
And she goes, and she's like, I don't, she's like, I don't care about the jets.
She's like, I like the giants.
And she was kidding about about that.
But like, and she's like, and then she goes like this.
She goes, who even are the Nets?
And then there's another video.
I wish I could play it, but I told my wife who wouldn't do it.
I walked down.
I sent it to a few people.
I'll send it to you.
I walked downstairs, you know, because she does gymnastics, right?
Yeah.
So I walk downstairs and she's on the couch like Batman,
upside down just doing like this this thing and she's like hello she's like and like she's doing
this pose but she's standing on her head legs like on the side and I'm like what the hell is and I went
downstairs and I recorded her just like sitting on the couch doing a headstand it was it was
incredible and she just like she was an ornament anyway I love this is like hello for like it's
no big deal no leery so all right we got some stuff to discuss here because I'm very curious
about what you think about all this with the man it's tomorrow.
Oh, yeah.
A lot to discuss there.
A lot to discuss.
So let's bring that up.
Again, I'm going to make a quick pitch.
I was off last week.
So other people got to win the award last week.
Oh, yeah, it was Roxy and Mike.
Start of the week.
Roxy and Mike won the one week I took off.
So I'd like you all to help me win this week.
Send in your super tats here on this Monday.
Let's have a good start to the week.
Help me out since we didn't get.
get superchats last week help me out please let's get to 100 at least let's do it um and then let's get
to at least 2400 today on the um yes on the Kickstarter kickstarter yeah let me see let me get to this
i want to bring this up because man of tomorrow is something that people have been curious about with the
new tone and i have not seen lanterns yet i'm saving it for sam so if anybody you know no spoilers on
lanterns um in chat or you know here so let's uh let's bring this up i'm going to bring up the
report from Dark Horizons.
And here we go.
New Man of Tomorrow production talk, as you're going to start to see that a little bit more.
And here it is.
There's David Corrin.
Filming wrapped on Manit tomorrow the other week.
And now, remember new production and plot details have emerged online about what to expect from the follow-up.
According to scruper and mundus.
DC, uh, Max Bliss,
they claim that Gunn took note of complaints about his 2025 take on Superman plans to
address them head on.
the follow-up. They claim that this partly led to the film getting a different director of
photography and the title being positioned as the first true DCU event movie. It is said that
the tone is considerably more mature, dense, and epic than the former film and more akin to
guns work on the third guardians of the galaxy. There are also big scenes for Lex Luther,
including a shirtless prison brawl while the design of Brainiac is intended to deliberately unsettle
moviegoers offering a frightening presence. It also claimed that Aaron Pierce John Stewart is said to
have a substantial role.
Adrian Arjona is playing Wonder Woman.
And one scene will see Captain Adams set to appear and receive some sort of metal.
One moment seeks Clark helping his father, Jonathan Ken, who is now in a wheelchair ballot.
The report, sorry, the report is pure rumor for now.
And so far, Gunn hasn't reacted to it.
Man, Tomorrow arrives in Cinemas on July 9, 2027.
Yeah, let's go with the first part of this.
Okay.
True?
Uh, I think most of this is true.
Yes, I would buy most.
of this for sure. The idea of it being more mature in tone and what have you, that makes sense.
Because you see, no worries, you see how what's going on with lanterns. I mean, lanterns last night,
you haven't seen the episode. That went real mature, real dark, a real brutal last night. And so
people have been saying, how can Robert Pattinson's Batman exist in Guns DCU? Well, here's a,
here's an element of Guns DCU that's pretty brutal and is on par with the kind of stuff we saw
in the Batman. So to me, I think there's slow.
kind of figuring out how to merge
these two tones together
and how do you do that? Well, you put Superman
in a much more mature,
grittier type of sequel
and you really see if the audience will go
with him while still retaining, of course,
the lighter elements of Superman, you'll see
if the audience will go with him. And I think
Quartzwe can pull it off. So I'm not surprised
that this is the angle they're taken because
they want to mix these tones and get
people excited about it. So yeah,
not as far as at all. I would say the majority
of it is true as well. I mean, I think everybody knows
at this point, this Adrian Hoha thing is
just like Gene Gray. And I'm telling you, if she's not
Wonder Woman, I would get ahead of it quick and say
that she wasn't, because I think that you're going to do a
disservice to Maxima. Because everyone's like, because I always
say, like, who cares if she's Maximum? You don't even know the
character. She's pretty cool. I'm like, yeah, but now everybody wants
to be Wonder Woman. Yeah. So if she's Maxima,
even if Maxima's cool, she's like, come on,
cares. But that's irrelevant to the side of this
whole thing, which is the, really the
mature, the more mature tone.
which doesn't mean you're getting a Christopher Nolan Matthew Reeves.
Right, right.
So I saw some people in the comments section going, oh, I like the goofy tone.
It's like, first of all, I don't like the goofy tone.
I think it's not consistent with the rest of it.
But you can still be a little more lighthearted and still go more serious in the same way.
And I think Guardians of Galaxy 3 is an excellent example of what a gun is capable of.
And if he is going this route, and it is because he took the criticisms, well, then good on him, right?
I think that that's one of those things that look, okay, I mean, I did a lot of things that I'm proud of that.
I'm not going to change and I'm not going to maneuver around, but there's some things that I'm going to listen to what the audience is saying, okay, you know what?
Maybe I did go a little, I went a little too silly in Guardians 2 and stuff that they really like, the emotional stuff.
I'm going to go a little heavier than Guardians 3.
And I think some people would say that three is the best out of 3.
I would say that. Not everybody does.
Some people like 1 better than 3.
I think three is the most balanced and the best that he's done out of all those movies.
And so I think that what he's already set up with Superman and caring about Superman and what David Cornsworth did,
that if you had a more emotional, mature movie, that could really work for you.
I think that you don't need to overdo crypto.
We did that already in one and with Supergirl.
How funny is it, though, by the way, because I don't know if we're going to cover it today or not.
I didn't look at that part of it.
But the Mr. Irrelevant trailer, did you see that?
I did.
I watched it last night.
I didn't do a reaction, but I watched it last night.
Yeah.
So for people who do know, Mr. Irrelevant is essentially the term for the last person drafted and the NFL drafted.
And for the Giants, I think it was 82, 83.
This is who, this is who Corrin Sweat is playing.
And his girlfriend is in this is Isabel May, who was in 1880.
who was my number one choice for Supergirl.
Oh, right, yeah, that's right.
Who I thought it was pretty funny that she's playing his girlfriend.
But I think that trailer looked pretty good.
But yeah, nonetheless, I think given Corinswe had a little bit more to do on the dramatic side inside of Superman,
giving Holt a little bit more to do, getting rid of garage jokes and other things like that,
I think we're, I think that this might, this might turn out to be a much better movie than the first one.
Oh, yeah.
And if you factor in what what's going on, as I said, with lanterns and what John, what's happening with John Stewart, the fact that the report says John Stewart's going to have a much more predominant role in this means you've got to bring that tone in and make it work.
And I imagine if A.R. Hona is Wonder Woman. You've also got to add that element to it. That's a little more grittier and what's going to be explored with her. And so to me, this is going to be a nice mix. I mean, this is like essentially going to be a dry run at a Justice League movie before they actually do a Justice League movie.
Without bad me. You got to show that you can mirror the tone.
Just like we did with Avengers, remember when Avengers was brought to, like, when they get to the Avengers of like Infinity War and Endgame, you were able to see the different tones mixed in because the directors were consulting on all of this and were able to kind of do right by their character the Rousseau's were and also still take, do their take on it.
And so you see, I think that's what's going to happen here as well with Gunn.
Well, it's a great point with the John Stewart side of it, right?
because clearly they're seeing what worked with lanterns
and what is working with lanterns.
And, you know, it's not like they said,
oh, Landers is doing well, let's switch our tone.
They watch lanterns before we did and came up with that idea also.
Okay, look, if this guy is going to hit the way we think he's going to
in the tone that he's in, yes, you can do it and you can make it like,
because you can definitely argue like the Punisher when you look at his Netflix stuff.
even in the special as compared to where he is in brand new day yeah very different but not to this to
i mean some people might argue this but i don't think it compromised the character right and i don't know
if john stewart in the way that he's been in this true detective show works in the same tone as the
superman movie with crypto the dog running around all the time so so shifting it up is probably a
really smart move and good on gun if that's that's what he's doing well it's fascinating because him and saffron
came out a few months ago and said, you know, the super family.
We're focusing on the super family.
It's going to be the super family.
And yes, I think a lot of people took that.
We're like, oh, great.
We're going to get a bunch of films that are just like Superman.
It's going to be goofy a little bit.
But I think they're, I think, as you said, they read the tea leaves.
I don't think, and I do want to defend Gunn a little bit.
I don't think gun was like, well, look at all the criticism.
Where I should change everything.
I think what he did was maybe looked at some of the crew said, okay, I can make a couple
of tweaks left like in here and there.
But I don't think it was like all this.
That's exactly what I'm saying.
And I suck.
No, no, no, no.
That's exactly.
I know, I know.
I'm underlining it because I don't want people to think like gun is somehow malleable in that way.
You know, I think he had a good leader and a good creative that says, okay, look, I had a lot of, I had a lot of ideas that I'm standing by that I like that.
I'm not changing at all.
I'm not shifting this.
I'm not going to change the essence.
But okay, I hear you.
I went, maybe I went a little too heavy on this and maybe I'll, maybe, or maybe it just doesn't work for the sequel and what I have in mind for this one.
what I'm thinking.
Yeah, yeah.
So I'm going to try a different tone here.
And I'm going to say, look, we did the lighter thing now.
And I'm going to maneuver.
I don't want to repeat what I just did in the first one.
Maybe it's not even a criticism all.
He just wants to shift up and that was his intent.
And that's his right as a creator.
Right.
And like you said, and if you go back on James Gunn's history,
even outside the Guardians of the Galaxy movies,
if you look at some of those episodes of Peacemaker,
when he gets into some of the darkness and the weeds on,
on Peacemaker and his relationship with his dad and what he navigates.
He can go there when he wants to go there.
And he's effective.
when he does it. So, you know, I think there's abs, this was always been a gear that James Gunn had.
He just had a certain vision for Superman for that movie. It doesn't mean that vision can't be adjusted or, you know, fleshed out a little bit more to add more levels to it.
So, yeah, I'm excited. I hope this report is right. You know, I take these things with a grain of salt. But I like this. If this is the approach, I'm excited to see what the end result's going to be for sure.
John, I'm going to do something here. Yeah. Okay. At if we hit 2400 on.
on the Kickstarter with, within the next, let's see,
in the next hour.
Okay.
I will announce one of the competitors
that will potentially be competing
in the 16-person tournament should it go.
Wow.
So, someone who's confirmed.
So, I mean, we already know Chris Carr.
We already know that you are going to go.
I don't know.
I'm still on the fence about it.
Oh, you're still on the fence now?
You're going back on it?
Okay.
So my ass, as they say,
certain parts of friends. Yeah, exactly. So, so we already, yeah, Roka and Chris Carr already
confirmed. So I will, I will give you another name if we hit that. So go ahead and,
and PLD, put that link in there so people can sign up to it. Let's do it. No, it's not. Do your job,
PLD. Yeah. Okay. I want to get to, because we usually, you and I cover box office pretty often
on the show on, on Mondays, because we haven't been able to get into it because the,
there's so much going on with the box office still.
It's pretty crazy.
Yeah.
Not only is Spider-Man still doing crazy stuff and the Avengers
Doomsday selling over $50 million in tickets to get.
Odyssey's still just delivering hand over a fist.
Yeah, man.
And look what it's doing here though now, John.
It's got the Odyssey breaks huge box office record,
cinema scores for Practical Magic 3 and the uprising revealed.
I and Tom Chattelbash are one of the three people in the world that liked Practical
Magic 2, by the way.
I was like, I couldn't believe it.
I'm just, I am on the other side of the fence.
Yeah.
On that movie, I, I, I had fun with it.
I thought it was, I thought it was an okay movie.
You just have a thing for brunettes.
Well, that's very true.
Sandy's a Burnett.
You're all born.
Did I ever tell you a story about her?
Uh, I don't know.
Maybe you did.
I don't know, which one.
So I, I'm always, I mean, I think everybody can, um, can agree that,
whether it's, I guess, whoever it is, a good dancer is, is,
sexy. Yes. A hundred percent.
I went to the premiere
of Lakehouse. Oh yeah.
I'm one of those rare people who defends that movie.
I like that movie. A lot of people who defend that movie.
Critics scores are not strong. Go ahead, yes.
So I
went to that premiere. And I remember being there
at the after party. And I remember
looking up and seeing someone dance.
I'm like, that's the sexiest dance I've ever seen in my life.
And it was Sandra Bullock.
Of course.
She was just dancing the night away.
And I was like, oh my God.
I'm like, I got to, I can't, I don't want to stand, but, you know, but, but, but, but,
but it was, it was, it was hard to not stare.
She was so gorgeous and such a great dancer.
Yeah.
And just fun, you know, but, but, but, but yes, I am one of the, I think six people in
the world who like practical magic too.
Um, anyway, let's, uh, let's get to this news story.
which is indeed that Odyssey,
kicking ace.
So the Odyssey has just broken a record held by Jurassic World for more than a decade.
Thank God.
Yeah, we have the cinema scores and opening weekend estimates for the rest of the latest releases.
As we first reported, deadline has confirmed that by the end of this weekend,
the Odyssey will become the, will become Universal's highest grossing movie ever at the worldwide box.
It was 1.6. Wow.
Almost 1.7.
Yeah.
Wow.
That places it, I thought it was going to tap out of like 1.1, 1.2.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That places it above the studio's previous record holder,
2015 Jurassic World, which is 1.677.
Odyssey has made $601 million domestically and $1 billion internationally.
That makes it the 12th highest grossing film ever in the third biggest non-franchised release of all time.
The Odyssey is also Christopher Nolan's biggest movie by Healthy Margin,
topping The Dark Night, which is $1.085 billion worldwide.
the chairman of Universal Entertainment
today said what Chris and Emma Thomas have created
will go down as one of the most ambitious and brilliantly executed films
in cinematic history, a generational event that galvanizes movie going
itself. Elsewhere at the box office this weekend, Practical Magic 2,
opened with 30 million solid result for a movie that cost roughly 75 million.
It was well ahead. I knew that it was going to be Teflon to reviews, though.
I knew that. It was well ahead of previous box office champs, Spider-Man,
a New Day, which is in second place with 8.5,
which is still pretty damn impressive.
That's 8.5.
Odyssey is a close third with 8.1.
Coyote versus Acme holding it well.
Good for that movie.
That one surprised me.
I thought that one was going to eat piss, but it didn't.
We're still waiting on international numbers,
but it's been a strong weekend for each movie.
In terms of new releases, Runner Open with 6 million.
Runner, isn't that the Galgado movie?
No, that's Alan Richardson and Owen Wilson.
Oh, what the hell is the?
Oh, is the Runner?
Yeah, the runner is the, is the Galgado one, yeah.
Okay.
But the uprising, which quickly dropped its widely ridiculed the rise of Robin Hood's subtitle,
as underwhelmed with a mere 3.1 million store.
Okay, let me get to the actual numbers here, because I'm going to double-shops this,
and then we can talk about it.
So Practical Magic 2, number one, that has made $46 million.
That's pretty good worldwide.
It'll probably have a pretty big drop-off in Week 2,
but it'll make its money back and probably have a little bit of a profit, I think,
Practical Magic 2.
So there was something about Practical Magic 3,
there is that the typo yeah i think that was a typo by josh over there all right uh spider man brand new day
two point four billion so far yeah nine hundred thirty five overall damn i thought i had a real shot at three
i really thought i had a shot three nah it was too tough uh odyssey one point six almost one point seven
which is absolutely insane yeah so this is um this is big for the outside i never there's a short
that i haven't posted that but i probably wills from a while ago but i remember
the comments that were coming in, you know, when all the nonsense was coming in about it.
And it wasn't a, people have issues about casting and all that stuff.
Then have a blast, whatever you're going to say.
But what I, what I still, because you see, there's no way that people who are talking
shit about the movie in general are ever going to say, I was wrong, right?
Because the argument is, well, we were wrong because the casting and this and then you
stuck to your guns and that's what you wanted to do.
Sure.
But there were tons of people.
And I can, I can show you on my, on my reviews.
and reactions, you just can't stand to understand that this movie's going to bomb.
It's going to lose so much money.
And that's the only thing I would be like, look, I still hate the movie, but I made money.
No one says that.
No one says that.
But I have this video where one guy goes, this is going to lose colossal amounts and you know it.
And it's like, it didn't.
And it made a ton of money overall.
I'm not telling you you need to like the movie.
I'm telling you that you can't look at it and say it didn't make a lot of money.
And I don't want to hear about, oh, it needed to make $2 billion.
You're an imbecile.
This segment of our culture, and I mean across the board, by the way, that cannot take an L
or cannot admit that they were wrong is really one of the most abhorrent things I've seen
over the last 10 to 15 years that has developed within segments of the culture.
Like, we're going to go after something and it's like, well, you got proven wrong.
We're moving on to the next thing.
Well, why won't you admit that you were wrong?
Because you're the first, you guys are the first people that say, they won't admit that
They're wrong. They're hiding something.
Well, why won't you just do the same thing you ask other people to do,
which is to admit you were wrong.
You were wrong.
You were off on this one.
Clearly, the public has spoken.
They like this movie.
I still don't like it.
I still like the casting,
but you got to give it up because they were right.
And that's it.
I mean, look,
Coyote versus Hackney.
I was wrong.
I was wrong.
And I'm glad I was wrong.
I didn't want,
I mean,
I wanted that movie to do well.
I thought,
I thought that no one would care because the people who wanted to save it.
You know,
Because I still don't think it,
I still think it's why I'm going to lose money, right?
Yeah, it's not going to make that much of money.
But the point of that movie again was for Catchup Entertainment to go,
look what we did.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right.
We did a good thing.
And that's what they did.
And they got their name really on the board there by saving a movie that people really enjoyed.
And, you know, so.
And I think it's signal to the creators, Christian.
The craters that are out there like, hey, this is a place you can go to pitch your movies,
ketchup entertainment, you know.
And so it's a smart move overall.
great point.
It's a really good point.
What did I watch?
I thought I watched something over the weekend.
Did I watch something?
Oh, yeah.
I watched Rocky 3 again.
That's what I was.
I was like, all this stuff.
I'm like, this is what I do, John.
I sit down, I sit down and I go, all right, let me watch stuff that I haven't seen yet.
And then Rocky 3 pops up.
You know why I watched Rocky 3?
Yeah, tell me.
Because Mr. T had a documentary on Netflix.
Yes, I watched it.
Untold.
Yeah, it's like a WWE type thing because he was on.
on Stephanie McMahon promoting it.
I think they produced it,
the WWE.
But it's good.
It's,
you know,
it's just such a product of our time.
Yeah.
And,
yeah,
it was,
it was fine.
But it made me want to watch,
watch Rocky 3.
Yeah.
And,
and I,
and I,
so I,
and it's still like one of those things,
just the way the 80s were.
You said it was like an hour and 35 minutes,
maybe an hour and 40.
In and out, baby.
It's it.
In and out.
It's it.
Like Sloan for most of his social life in the 80s.
But he was, but it's just, I just love that movie so much.
I do too, man.
It's because of his performance.
Of tea?
Of tea, yeah.
He's terrible.
He was Tyson before Tyson was Tyson.
Exactly.
That whole thing, I mean, just that the music they use when he's working out, that saxophone.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
And he's doing the wood.
Why do you think I would say things in the Shmoda?
Like, I've trained like I've never trained before.
It's absolutely evoking Rocky 3 and Mr. T because it's that kind of stuff.
So, yeah, the doc I wish was a longer because it was only 48 minutes.
And he has talked a little bit of crap about the doc, which I think is a shame.
Yeah, yeah.
He just said it wasn't a full encapsulation of my experience in my life.
And it didn't really grab fully what was going on.
And I think he doesn't like that it highlighted his issues with his family.
So, but I mean, it's a doc.
What do you expect?
The documentary.
What do you want?
I just wish it had been an hour because the untold series on Netflix is great.
so many great docks that are under the untold banner i wish this had been as long as some of
their best ones which are an hour and a half but yeah it was really good it's a trip down memory lane
because that's where i saw him too on that that that bodyguard competition that's the first time
i saw t yeah that's right and that's the long song yeah yeah um and you just you just really
forget that that that movie made both hulk hogan and mr t yes who then teamed up together at
WrestleMania, which was great.
I would have liked to see them dive a little bit more into the
WrestleMania
aspect of it. But they
they were focusing on him.
So I totally get it. But I enjoyed that.
I enjoyed watching Rocky 3 again.
My wife's like, wait, you watch Rocky 3 against it?
I'm going to bed.
It's just like,
I did catch, I have to tell you something
offline that I caught that I never realized
before. And I don't, I just don't want to get into
a whole conversation amount, but there's something that.
Listen, that's the hottest Talley Shire is.
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Rocky 3, right?
Definitely.
She is so hot in that movie.
She definitely.
I love the, I mean, that scene in the beach is just so good.
It's great a scene in the whole series.
Ever.
So what do you want me to say?
I'm afraid, all right?
For the first time of my life, I'm afraid.
I don't want to lose what I got.
And then she's, what do you got?
They can't be replaced.
We have cars.
We got money.
We got everything.
It's the best.
Everything but the truth.
What's the truth?
Damn.
Yeah.
I'm afraid.
All right.
First time of my life.
I'm afraid.
I don't want to lose what I got.
And even that whole thing, yeah,
even though he's like,
when he's listening to him or he's like,
how'd you get so tough?
I married a fighter.
So good.
It could have been so cheesy,
yet it worked so well.
It worked.
It worked.
Anyway, all right, look.
We're curious about the box office.
And what do you think of Rocky 3?
Put your thoughts in there.
Let us know.
We're going to be right back.
I want to tell you guys,
we got some good friends over at
Cash Act.
And I've been telling you about Cashab.
I'll tell you again about Cashup.
Check it out.
Guys, I'm so excited to share something with you.
I'm a producer on a new half-hour comedy called Trending.
It's created by Christian Harloff and Martini Perit Tor.
See, the funny thing is nobody came to me asking me to be involved.
I'd heard Christian had a really good script apparently going around.
And I was like, all right, let me see this.
Let me read this thing.
I thought it might be something like Vanity Project or whatever.
I didn't know what to expect.
And I ended up being so surprised by how much I loved it.
Not just the pilot itself, but I could actually see
where this show could go. So I asked Christian if there's some way I can get involved and help produce it. And since then, this thing has gotten way more legit. Emmy Award winning producer Andrew Freed from Chef's Table and Welcome to Rexham is directing and boardwalk pictures is involved. The Kickstarter, it launches September 22nd. But right now we're trying to get 5,000 people following the campaign before it even launches. And if you're a Shmodam fan, there's another reason to care. Because if this thing gets funded fast enough, the movie trivia Shmodown comes back.
So please hit the link, follow the Kickstarter.
It costs you nothing to follow.
And it really helps us build momentum going into the launch.
I'm very excited about this one.
Like nervous, excited because I really feel like we're going to pull off something really cool here.
Please go check it out.
Link a description box and pin comment.
That's true, Greg.
The link is in the description box.
Thank you, Greg Alba for that one.
I'm excited to have him on board.
Of course, thank you to Cash App.
John, we were talking about Rocky and like Tiff over the weekend.
I don't know if you saw Mans.
Mance lost his mind about I play Rocky.
So what I was confused about, I'm going to look at rotten tomatoes here.
I did too last night.
Right?
So here's what I want to see.
Okay, so I play Rocky came out.
Now it's at 77, which is not the raving, you know, 77 score you would assume from all
the big tweets that we saw.
Yeah. That would be in the 90s. So I don't know. I mean, shit, even Owen Gleberman liked it.
You don't like anything. That's true. Let's see. So I don't know what about two, a generic, self-important
over-serialized direct that coats on affection towards the original Rocky rather than give
Stone's origin some real triumphant rabatasse, as John Roker would say. I'm going over the over the
shooting ones first. I only see.
B-M-A-N-S.
Yeah, go ahead.
Nick Shager and at The Daily Beast
and Chase Hutchinson at the rap
are the only two, like, notable critics
that I know of that didn't like the movie.
Okay.
The Hollywood Reporter liked the movie.
Variety said, Owen Gleberman liked the movie.
Yeah.
New York Post liked the movie Indie Way.
Kate Irbland is very hard to please.
She loved it.
So, yeah.
So, I mean, yeah, good enough to support it.
So I'm saying, like, and this is definitely,
this is an audience movie for sure.
I'll tell you that.
Oh, sure.
This is not a critics movie, I don't think.
But,
Yeah.
But the question is going to be if the non-festival critics that get a hold of it and start watching it,
if they respond to it and they get that over to the 80s and 90s,
which is maybe unlikely because of the thing because what I have found,
and maybe you can combat this, what I've found is that for some reason,
speaking of how we've talked about how critics can really, if you look into it,
be considered influencers in the,
definition of the word you know in the definition of the word see but that's the thing is the definition
of the word is what critics really are like not not what these people who are doing these influences
like i will not agree with you on this and we'll battle all day long but let me explain i saw your
i saw your short on this but let me but let me explain it to you and the fact that like when we were
when we were when you and i were growing up we'd watch ciscoll and eber right and ciscoll and eber would
come out and they would give their opinion about it and now it essentially depending on who you
agreed with more did you agree with saskool did you agree they were essentially influencing you to
either see it or don't see it um that's and that's kind of the idea of but then but then the
influencer word as i said in this short short it just got dirty right and now and now it's now it's
associated with whatever my point is the influence or the critics that are going to see the um
festival movies.
I feel like the ones that want to be the festival critics
start to listen to them,
and then they go into the review.
Now, man, now they're going and thinking,
all right, I'm not like this movie.
And then their score goes down.
So you never really see it go up after the scores.
You see it go down.
I don't know.
Do you think that this,
because the reason I bring it up is the kid.
I think that the kid had a chance with everybody raving about
about potentially getting nominated.
Do you think if this movie hits...
Polito?
Yeah, because look at...
We both agreed last year.
My bias aside, that Julia Roberts was one of the best performances she had done in a long time.
I agree.
That movie did not do well with critics, did not do well with audiences.
She was only nominated for Golden Globes because they wanted her there.
I mean, I'll call it what it is.
She was not nominated anywhere else.
And it wasn't the performance.
It was because the movie just didn't do well.
No one cared about the movie.
Now, if this movie doesn't do well as far as critics,
Does he still have a shot of getting nominated?
Yes, because not all critics vote for the Oscars, right?
The Oscars is a wide array of people who vote for the Oscars,
and we've seen surprises get in there.
I mean, Delroy Lindo was very much a surprise for a lot of people last year.
That's true.
Because they felt he was pushing a boulder up the hill.
He wasn't going to go over the hump, and he got there.
And we saw what happened with, what's her face a few years ago,
those big controversy, Andrew Reisboro, when she got nominated.
Nicole Kidman and the white woman.
She was good.
The white women mafia got together and got people.
You said that.
Oh, if you're going to say you're bullshit, I get to say my mom.
That's so different.
That's how it works.
That's so different.
That's how it works.
I was breaking down the definition of a word as you're supposed to go, those old whiteies they can.
What are they doing?
I didn't say whiteys.
You just did.
I said the white Hollywood mafia.
That's what I said.
I'd say them whiteys is a difference.
There's plenty of white people,
not in the white Hollywood mafia.
But they got together and got her to be nominated.
That's how it works.
So I would not be surprised.
But there's so many good performances.
brother, like, I just don't think he'll break through
because there are so many. I mean,
a lot of people talk about Sebastian Stan and Fjord
now. People talking about Adam Scott.
I think is it, yeah, Adam Scott.
In Elsinor,
people are talking about Robert Pattinson
in primetime. So, and plus
Ryan Reynolds, there's only five.
Ryan Reynolds. For what?
Yeah. Sorry, Ryan Gosling
in Project Tell Mary.
Right. So you've got a lot of action.
And Matt Damon. Right. And we haven't
seen doing yet. Could be Shaliman.
We haven't seen Doom 3 yet.
You make a good point.
And maybe Robert Down Jr.
shocks the hell out of all of us as Doom in Doom's Day.
Even if he does, there's no way.
There's no way.
You say no way, but.
No, no, it's not that he wouldn't deserve it.
It's just no way the Academy would do it.
They just wouldn't do it with what Marvel is and how many people spoken up against it.
It's just no way.
I mean, the fact that I think Angela Bassett not winning that year proves it.
I mean, she had nominated, but.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, because she won every other award.
It's really inexplainable other than people just love Jamie Lee.
That's what it is.
Or there was a bias in the voting against Angela, which I think is so frustrating.
Because that is one of the most incredible actresses that have ever walked the planet.
And she is undecorated with awards and it's at the top awards.
And it's bullshit.
It's utter bullshit.
And that one, it's one thing, like, and I always say.
She should have been stormed.
That's a whole different expense there is.
Back in the day, yeah.
But I always say like for, in the same way that I think Stallone should have beaten Rylance, right?
100%.
It's like it's always weird to me when every other awards thing.
It doesn't mean that it's anything.
It's always weird to me is the point that every award one person is winning,
a time and time and time and time again.
They're winning and winning and winning.
Now, Chalemay was doing that last year and then we know why he lost.
I don't give a shit when anybody says.
We know why he lost.
And Michael E. Jordan was great.
Michael E. Jordan was great.
But he wasn't winning.
He wasn't winning everything.
Salome was winning everything.
And then towards the end when all the shit was going down, then he started losing.
And I think it's the same thing happening with, which I don't understand with Angel Basson.
Angel Bassel Bassel was winning everything.
It's when it's mixed and it's like, oh, it could go, it could go to Jamie.
Yes, right.
When it's mixed, like, who knows who's going to win, right?
It's going to everybody.
If it was going back and forth like that,
But, you know, that's just the nature of the game.
Yeah.
But, you know, I'm never going to agree with your influencer point,
because I saw, and I'm not trying to bash Koi
because Koi and Greg got into it the other day about this stuff as well.
And it's like, I get the point of view,
but critics exist for a reason.
Like this idea that we're trying to like muddy the waters
and make critics and influencers really a little more connected than they are is nonsense.
And the other people who's, it is connected to the overall point that people are making.
Because you're saying critics are influencers by definition.
I'm saying that they are dragging them closer to the, the influencers.
No, that's the thing.
And I don't think that is that it's true.
That's my point.
Influencers shouldn't be called influencers.
That's the thing is that the definition, the definition, because the whole point of the
definition of what an influencer was in before the influencers or everyone picked up a phone
go, hey, I like pizza.
It's like that, that before any of that happened, the critic was like, okay, my opinion influences
people to whether or not.
100%.
That's what I'm saying.
So my overall point was,
an influencer was someone back in 1982 who wrote a review and said, it's good.
And if you read it, you said, oh, well, now I am influenced to go and see it in the theater.
So that's what I meant more so with the definition.
I don't think now today, today they're very different and they're not in the same category,
and they're completely different.
They have two different names.
The word has just been dirty by studios is dirty by influencers.
I started by influencers who willingly took money from studios to become
their marketing tools because they like to believe that they're influencers and they like being called influencers.
We've had that commerce.
Because they influence people, yeah.
I don't think we disagree as much as you think that we do.
I just think about the pure definition of what the word was back in like early times.
Sure, but that could apply to everything.
Politicians influence your mom and dad were influencers.
Your best friend was an influence.
I mean professionally.
professionally. I'm just saying all this stuff,
but you go back to definition.
Definition will apply everything. I'm with you
well, but I'm saying in a professional manner,
the politician one is a good example.
100%. That's exactly what they're.
Doctors, right?
Yeah, I mean, depending on the medical side of things.
That's what I'm saying. If you start to
go on the definition route, you're going to use everything.
But yeah, but wait, but if your job was essentially saying,
my opinion on whether or not you're going to spend
money on going to see the thing going a food critic is an influencer yes 100% any critic is an
influencer in terms of being able to influence people's opinion that's what i'm saying but they are not
influencers it's the word has been dirty in the fact that it and has had more esteem and i influencers yeah
1,000 right because like even what was it was the new the new commercial when you know don't be like
your parents and when they're oh yeah yeah the enterprise the progressive commercial right right and then so
it was a new one oh yeah when he's when they got when they're the new commercial when they're
the influencers there and the guy's like, wait a minute.
So you just, you just, you just open it up and people watching you eat, eat cheese or whatever
it is.
And he's like, yeah, why?
I don't know.
This is a reaction thing.
And it's like, you, you see that.
And you go from the food critic that was writing extensive reviews.
And this is very similar to the movie theater person.
And now it's no longer detailed reviews about, well, the taste and this and the colony
or expertise in this.
now it's I liked it
it didn't flop when I ate it
and now that that's it
you know and and
and and and and and and I say that
about myself as well
hey this is a out of the theater reaction
exactly a three three seconds
and meanwhile Bibiani's got steam coming out of his
fucking ears you know on he's an amazing
critic yeah great critic
I would hesitate that's a thing and so
I think this it's just dangerous
because you know I as I said I saw it over
the weekend with coin Greg and I saw what
they were talking about and he's like, you know, you shouldn't look at the rotten tomato scores.
By that point, you're slowly denigrating the job of a critic by doing that.
And there's an agenda to that that I think is to me that makes me uncomfortable, this idea of
trying to undercut the credibility of critics.
And in a way, you're trying to say your point of view is just as valid as a critics.
Okay.
Well, I didn't see the video.
Now, I'm not saying you.
I'm not saying you. I'm saying that argument out there.
Well, with Coy and Greg, I didn't see it.
So are they going over the rotten tomatoes?
Yes.
And is it like it's,
yeah,
they're saying it influences people's points of views to go see a movie.
Like are people looking at the score and then going,
not going to see a movie?
Because Koi was saying,
well,
you know,
you and I'm sacrificing two hours of your life that you could have enjoyed a movie.
Sure.
But I think that's,
I think people give rotten tomatoes in the influencer space.
I think people give rotten tomatoes way too much credit.
I mean,
people will go see a movie if they want to go see a movie.
It has F all to do with a rotten tomatoes.
Tomatoes score.
No, yeah.
I don't think
as I told you.
They affect any box office at all.
They've got to find a way
to fix their system.
Their system's flawed.
Sure,
but every system's flawed.
The instance is flawed.
No, but this,
but it doesn't,
it's,
and I said this a million times over,
and I'll say it one more time.
It's just,
it's just not accurate where
mathematically,
again,
if,
if a hundred people
yeah,
see a subpar movie,
right?
Let's,
let's say the movie,
it's subpar,
but it's like,
it's okay,
it's directed well enough.
I can't say
that it's rotten.
but I'll go the lowest minimum score and go three out of five, right?
Yeah.
And 100 people did that.
That movie would, when people were looking, oh, how did it do?
He did 100% a rotten tomato.
And everybody thought it was subpar.
Same thing goes for, I don't think it was terrible, but I can't give it a positive score.
And 100 people gave it 2.9.
But that's why the percentage, the percentage score matters, right?
Like, where is the number at?
We know 70% is a C.
You know that 70% is a C.
But that's what that's my point.
70% of it, though, like, it's not necessarily a CEC collectively. It's 70%. It's 70% if you,
if your initial solo review could be a 70% and that's the way you see it. But because everyone
else is like, oh, it was just a three out of five, or it was barely a 2.9, or it was a 4 out of
five, they're just not all accurate scores. So it does that be just kind of mathematically rounds up
differently. It's, it's not everyone saying that it's a 75. But that's what I'm, but that's what I'm
getting at, though, no matter what the score is.
Why, I keep eating these fucking almonds?
I keep coughing on the almonds.
Drink some water, brother.
But like, the thing with
the scores is I just, I just
do not believe that these rotten tomatoes. I think it's
a, what do you call that, straw man argument?
Because I don't think the rotten tomato score
affect the box office in any significant
way, positive or negative.
I think it's about, does the pop
culture want to see this movie? Did the
marketing work? Did the trailers work?
Did the interviews work? Did people get
Practical magic too.
Practical magic two.
Perfect example.
Perfect example.
Terrible reviews is going to make its money.
Jurassic World has been living on billions of dollars with terrible reviews.
People would argue the Transformers films.
Terrible reviews made billions of dollars.
And great films crash.
So I think the Rotten Tomatoes thing is just a convenient victim to be attacked.
But in my opinion, I don't think it matters one damn bit.
It's about people's feelings about a movie.
If you make it work.
I think the majority of the time you're right.
I think sometimes the on the fence movies do really depend on whether or not
Rotten Tomatoes gives it an okay.
Because there's a lot of people sometimes that go, my dad will still say,
well, it didn't do too good on Rotten Tomatoes.
My dad hasn't been a movie in five years.
But he's still looking at reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
And he's like, yeah, they said, they said it was all right.
You know, is that something that works.
But that'll, that'll influence him in whether or not watches it when it's on streaming.
Yeah.
sure but he he would he did write me show you definitely not the audience for um for this movie but my
81 year old father writes me and goes just text me by the way and the text is amazing goes
watching supergirl not good don't know if this girl's right for supergirl oh
it's what he writes my 81 year old father and is it but it just but you know he doesn't but he doesn't
pay attention to anything.
Like he didn't know what anyone is saying about it.
He doesn't know, he doesn't know if this movie's nominated for an Oscar.
He doesn't know anything about it.
So that was just his thing when I was reading it.
It was just that it was hilarious.
Yeah.
But I like Millioca because as,
I did too.
I watched some of the scenes over the weekend on HBO Max and she's good.
It's not, it's not her.
That's the issue.
It's the movie overall, you know.
So yeah.
Anyway,
let's get into one last.
in bashing koi i want to make it clear i'm just to have a difference opinion about the whole situation
i don't think i don't think you're bashing i think you're bashing them i think you're
twist it so i think you just say you didn't agree with it i think that's yeah so speaking of gregg
actually is going to be on the show tomorrow it's going to be on mike's going on mike's going on
right does this count does this count for the numbers that gregg comes on because roxy's on
because roxy's on yeah i'm sorry roxy's on uh with gregg tomorrow and then um mike's going to be on
with Winston on Friday. So we're shifting around a little bit because breaks coming in and talk about
the show. So he'll be on tomorrow. So Smets is on Wednesday. Thursday, I got to figure out if I'm
going to go early because I have, I have a busy day on Thursday. I'm going to see, is it called
Forgotten Island? Is that the? Oh, yeah, yeah, the animated one. I'm seeing Forgotten Island at
two that day. I'll do it out of the theater for that. Tomorrow night I'm going to see Resident
Evil. You're going to see that tomorrow night? Yeah, Resident Evil tomorrow night, yes. And so
I was speaking. Yeah, me too. I was going to, you know, I had a screening for the Brad Pitt movie on Thursday.
Oh, the dog one, yeah. But I'm not going to anymore because it's at six. And I'm going to interview Paul Walter Houser in studio at 5 p.m.
going to interview Paul. Yeah. So he, and we're going to go, we're going to talk about Resident Evil and a bunch of other things.
So I'm trying to figure out with Chris Carr if we will go early that day or we'll have to postpone until next week again. I'll have to, I got to figure that out.
So, um, okay, listen, let's bring up this.
And Zach Snyder, did it get crushed?
Did it get crushed?
Did it get crushed? I haven't read.
I haven't read this. I haven't read it.
This is a bummer though, because I'll tell you why.
Yeah, because I, because I saw the trailer for it.
And it almost felt like he was going for like a Terrence Malick thing.
Yes.
And I really liked that I couldn't tell it was a Zach Snyder movie.
but apparently that didn't work for everybody else.
After critical reviews trash his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon,
Zach Snyder opted to return to his filmmaking reviews
with the last photographs, a 10 million drama shot in Columbia.
Good for him.
No green screen, no slow motion, just a straight-up dramatic thriller.
Unfortunately, many of those who checked it out of the festival
don't appear to be fans, reviews, and reactions have savage the film story,
performances and overall quality,
with people labeling it in fewer versions of the year of living dangerously,
the client American, and apocalypse now.
While the film hasn't shown up on a critical aggregate,
sites as yet. Reactions and reviews are flooding in. Here's a sampling. Although you can take the man out of
DC, the DC is very much inside this particular man. And the problem with the last photographer is that
it sometimes forgets about its characters in a bid to hit the furiously-paced action set pieces.
The film is his most intimate and grounded yet he deserves to be commended for that and for the
genuinely beautiful imagery that he shot himself as a cinematographer, but of all of his worst traits are
there in abundance to overlong, ponderous, and deadly serious to a comical degree.
It's a film that feels more like a test run than a finished product.
Let's say, is anybody else in here?
Snyder's version of the Quiet American represents a certain nature for the TIF programs,
but don't worry, this lurid, oh my God, this guy's compared to her.
Yeah, but I don't want to read this.
That's too much.
Stuart Martin, is this a guy, what's he doing?
He's writing an essay to get an A-plus with his English teacher.
Stuart Martin and a froth, and FROFI starred in the film, which follows an X DEA operative
who heads into the Andes to rescue his kidnapped niece and nephews of his.
This is not just the overall thing.
All right.
So overall it doesn't seem like people dug it.
He took a shot.
He's wrongly missed.
But $10 million movie.
Right, right, right, right.
And I think that, you know, I don't know.
Look, he's really good at visual stuff for sure.
Yes.
Great cinematographer.
He's a really good.
Yeah, he is.
So I like that he was taking a swing.
I will say, though, when I saw the trailer, and maybe just wasn't a long enough trailer or it wasn't intended to do it, I still didn't really know what the movie was about when I was done with the trailer.
You know?
Now you do.
Because you just read the synops.
The trailer should have told you that.
Right.
I don't know.
What do you think?
I'm sad because I love Snyder as a filmmaker.
I don't know.
He's not the greatest filmmaker.
But I do enjoy.
I think he's a necessary voice in the world of filmdom.
And I think he challenges in interesting ways in some of the films that he makes, right?
I loved his justice league, yes, slightly overlong and operatic, but I still loved it.
And I like 300.
I like, you know, I didn't like the, the, the Rebel Moon stuff.
But I thought this was his attempt to maybe kind of like get something out as a filmmaker.
And listen, you may bash Zach, you may bash Michael Bay.
These are creatives.
And they have something to say.
It may not be like Coppola.
but they've got something to say.
And so with Snyder, I think he was trying to do something pretty hardcore here,
go back to his roots, only spend 10 million,
you know, bring in these strong actors and see what he can create here.
And it seems like it's rejected roundly by the critics.
But this is one place where I think what you said earlier,
I might concede some ground on because I do think critics have their favorite punching bags
to go after.
Sure.
And they do it with and they do it zealously.
Right.
And Zach Snyder is one of them.
I'm on a text chain with a couple of my friends who hate Zach Snyder, everything he does.
And they gleefully posted these reactions and we're dancing on his grave.
And I kind of hate that because I think this becomes biased.
And so the criticism now becomes just such a chorus that you're like, well, I kind of want to see it now just as an F you because you guys seem like this is personal, your attacks on his film.
But we'll see.
I mean, I'll see it.
And if it's any good, I'll see.
but I don't think it has a distributor Christian.
So it's just he made it.
Someone will pick it up on streaming or something.
Probably.
Yeah.
Catch it.
Anyway, what do you guys make of it?
What do you think about the fact that this movie is getting pandits to make you want to see it more or less?
Because the critics are pooping on it.
Put your thoughts in there.
Let us know.
All right, John, let's get to the questions because now you got a chance to actually start the week off and see if you can get it.
You know, you open, you weren't on last week.
So you opened the field and Roxy and Marcy and my.
Mike stepped in. So are they interim champions? We shall see.
Bring it in a ringer tomorrow. I know. Bring in a ringer. I'm going to get Tarantino for next
Monday. So I should. Before we move on to the questions, though, what's going on?
Yeah. Oh, yeah, the John Roker channel. Please come and hang out with us. YouTube.com slash
John Roker says. I just posted last night by live reaction and review to the latest episode
Lanterns. That is up there for you all to watch as well. We got geek buddies coming out.
Spill the Tequila tomorrow night and all the other shows that are all.
the channel as well. There'll be updates on that coming out throughout the week. So please come and hang
out with me and Les Shannon as a, sorry, as a Christian just said, out of reaction, out of theater reaction
for Resident Evil tomorrow and I can't wait to see it. Looking forward to it. All right, there you go.
Thank you guys. All right, let me see. Now let's move on to the questions themselves. Let's start it.
I'm going to do a refresh on where we are. Like I said, if we hit 2,400, I will announce one of the potential contenders.
should we fund this thing currently right now we are at 2,398.
Wow, two away.
Two more.
And then I'll tell you one of the competitors.
We've already announced Chris Carr, Roka, and Jen Sturge will be doing the behind the scenes.
Mark Ellis will be on the desk.
Nice.
More questionable decisions to come.
Maybe so.
PLD and Patrick, as we call him.
Yeah.
He will be, both of those guys will be.
doing, PJ will be doing, um, PJ's coming back.
As Patrick.
To do questions? Yeah. I love it. They're going to be doing questions.
So that's where we're starting. And that's what you got so far. I'll give you another one in a bit.
Uh, Lord, he's going to, wait, PLD's going to do the questions too. He's been doing the questions.
What been doing the questions? Well, he did. But he did. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Not on your matches.
You know, not my matches. I don't want PLD anywhere near my matches. It's fine. I'm taking a page.
here we go
I'm taking
the page out of his action hero army
leader and
requesting that he not do
sure sure sounds good
sounds good sure all right
get out of it get out of
get out of
he's such a liar
lord zucco
yo roga I saw your viral tweet about
AI CEOs being spooked
I agree what do you think actually
happened give me your speculation on what happened
I don't know what I try to stay away from Twitter
what happened
which I stay away
I know you too
Well, the, Musk, Altman, a lot of these guys who run the AI progress at this point came out and said that they were going to slow things down.
And this came on the heels of one of these people from Anthropic who quit and then revealed all the stuff that's going on behind the scenes with AI and how fast it's progressing and that it might wipe us all out by the end of the decade.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And now yesterday it came out that AI could take over the Internet the next six months.
completely and cost people billions of dollars so there's a lot of fear around this whole situation
i think something happened that they didn't expect to have happened and it broke all of them
and scare the shit out of all of them but of course we're in a tough situation because a lot of people
don't want china who wants to keep going forward to get AI so it's a really really tough and
complex situation right now with this stuff yeah this is what this is where i was thinking about
that you know you know people say we're living in a simulation right i know some people say that
I mean, scientists say it.
It's not just, it's, it's not just
some people. Are they influencing you? Are they influenced?
No, they don't influence me, but if you look, but
it's like, we're living in the simulations.
Like, why, why are you
putting AI in our simulation?
Yeah, exactly. I mean, that's why don't think we're
limited in simulation? So what are we doing in a sim?
Why do you have AI in the simulation? Get it out of here.
He says, no comment.
A mature man of tomorrow sounds
Mr. Irrelevant to me. Have you seen the trailer? We did.
Yeah, did you know the true story about this giant underdog?
Yeah, you know, I, it's,
I don't want to ruin it for people.
It's because I do know the story.
Oh, yeah.
I don't want to say enough about it, but it's like it's, yeah, I don't want to say
anything about it because it's like people are going to, but it's coming out in December.
So they have enough confidence in it that they think that maybe, you know,
maybe corn sweat could be in the conversation, you know?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You never know.
Those sports movies, they hit you.
They hit you.
I mean, if he knocks out at Bolito, that would be a shame.
That would be crazy.
Shame?
I don't know.
It's just, you haven't seen the movies.
Yeah, true.
Ron H, happy Monday all.
Sounds like Superman is getting triple X, mature
deaths and epic. That's good.
Sounds like Superman's super dong to me
that I just write. Nice, Ron H.
Follows it up. Watched hope. I didn't enjoy it much.
By the end, I was questioning the entire film.
What did I just watch? Why this?
Did you see that movie?
I have, it's almost three hours.
Oh, wow.
And I'll tell you this.
I read some of the reviews and people were like,
it's a great first hour and then it falls off near the end.
So I just went, well, I'll just wait for stream.
and I'll wait for streaming to see that.
Maybe I'll do a reaction to it.
Yeah, maybe.
I'm just not,
I don't want to spend three hours in a film
that's going to possibly disappointments.
It's so funny, though.
The whole summer was just going,
like two or three movies a week, right?
And I haven't been to the movies in like three weeks or four weeks.
Oh, you went to see practical magic too.
Oh, that's true. That's true.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That was the one thing that I saw.
And there's been a lot of other,
there were a few others, but now I'm going to see these.
And then,
and then obviously Brad Bird's,
new movie. I'm going to see next week. Oh, yes. So I'm going to, I'm interviewing him the day
after, which is going to be great to us. We have two big interviews with Paul Walter Hauser and Brad
Bird coming up pretty soon. Uh, which we're excited about. Ronnie, UCI road, road world
championship cycling happening in Montreal. Biggest thing since the Olympics are what some are saying. And I
said it before, come visit. And yes, I met it in the audio way. I do, I do, I do, I've always,
you know, I told you about that, John. We had a whole, I do, we were, when we were building out
before the pandemic, we're building out
the Shmodeown route.
Montreal was definitely one of our
spots.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, we were going to take it to
out, it would have been the first one out of the states.
We had looked at,
we looked at Toronto for top 10.
There was a big contingent.
We were going to go to do it in Toronto.
Yeah, go ahead, man.
Let's see.
Bacon buyer. In my honest
opinion, Peacemaker Season 1,
assume counts for sake of argument,
is still the best thing in the Gunnervers.
And I love,
lanterns and really like Superman.
Well, I don't know if that counts peacemaker's season one, because peacemaker season one was intended
for the DC-EU.
Yeah, but I mean, guns still made it.
It doesn't matter, though, but it was intended, but when it was originally made, it wasn't
made in the intent for the lining up with all the stuff that's going on, the narrative
of what you're seeing now.
Yeah, it's so, so, well, I mean, he, but he used that for peacemaker's season two, which is
under his DC.
Season two, you can, you can include season two.
But he kept stuff from season one into season two.
But he also re-edited stuff to make it more like that's right.
He did do that.
That's, I mean, because in the first one, Jason Mamoa is Aquaman and everything too.
It's like, so it's meant for the DCU.
It doesn't really count in my opinion.
The second one, sure, because they multiverse it and do all this shit.
I still think that was a mistake too.
It was too confusing.
And he just did what I respect about what I think that people go after him for.
It's like, well, you're just doing this is what you wanted to do.
It was your thing.
It's like, yeah, definitely.
but he also promised a lot of jobs to people
and he kept those jobs to people.
He said, we're going to do a second season
and then he's like, well, you know what,
I can keep this going and find a way
to have everybody have their jobs
and connect it adjacent to this DCU.
It's the power you have when you're the guy, you know?
So I didn't, you know, like I said,
I bailed on season two, so I can't really speak on it.
But I just, I was like, it wasn't,
I loved season one.
Season two just keep me in.
I agree.
season two lost its way near the end.
That was the beginning of people question. And then Supergirl
head. And I, you know, I don't,
again, I've said this,
I don't know if I can give gun too much credit
for lanterns. Yes, him and Tim, Tom King
pitched the story, but the execution
of it is all Chris Monday, David
Linda Love. That's not fair. And I'll tell
you why that's not fair. But I'm going to call you
a little bit of a hypocrite then. I'll tell you why.
I'm going to tell you why. Because
you have said in the past
about Kathleen Kennedy,
that you've got to give Kathleen Kennedy
she when you're whether it's and or
I don't give her credit for Andor
you don't no I give her credit for greenlighting andor
but she had nothing to do with the making of and
she's not a she's not a creative
exact no but she but you still said like you know
if it's under her regime you still got to
you give them the way right no no I'm saying
I'm saying creatively I can't give gun too much
yes absolutely under the window
under the banner it does deserve yes it does
okay well then all yeah creatively it doesn't look like
it doesn't look like a gun thing at all
At all.
At all.
Carlton Rutter.
London calling saw Raiders 45th anniversary of the cinema.
That's probably fun.
Pressure and May Day also impressed.
Andrew Scott and Brana, respectfully, were fantastic.
Andrew Scott, that's it.
That's something else.
Yeah.
Pressure is great.
I really like pressure.
I haven't seen May Day yet.
I need to see pressure.
It's on Peacock, bro.
Is it on?
Is it?
Okay.
I'm going to watch that.
I really, I wanted to say, I missed it.
You'll like it.
I was bummed when I missed the screening.
Chris Minor,
re-listening to the top 10 as I renovate my house
and I sure do miss it. Roker, do you miss it at all?
Do you both keep in touch with Nost?
Well, I did, well, I did settle the score
about a month ago with Sunny,
and then I'll be doing it again during the campaign.
So yeah, I keep in touch with notes.
I don't know.
Have you done, have you done settle the scores?
Nah, he hasn't asked me back.
We don't really keep in touch anymore.
As I tell people, we were never like the biggest of friends.
we just worked really well together on that show.
We enjoyed doing the show together for sure.
It was a lot of fun.
As I say, we're going to tour all over the country
and go out of the countries we did with London.
So doing the show with him was a blast,
but we were never really close.
And he hasn't asked me back on that show for years.
Really?
You guys should ask him about that.
You'd be good in that show.
No, I'm not really good at scores.
And that may be why I keep losing.
Yeah, yeah, all right.
When I go on there.
But I appreciate you guys listen to the top 10 shows
because I'm proud of those.
episodes we had a great time making that show yeah uh james diesel official reading red rising
series lately it's so good during the big moments i picture you and sam reacting shades of star
wars and hunger games with darker think star destroyers but the halls and armor are roman architecture
that's really cool yeah that sounds that sounds right in my alley is that is that something um
pealed is that the one you were telling me about the red no okay um but i do that does sound pretty cool
i want yeah i've had a lot of people suggest that series to me it's a really good series apparently
yeah.
Roca, go ahead.
You want to read this one?
Louis Fonseca.
I resonate the most
with the Rooka because we're Hispanic
and hate Trump, L.O.L.
You can't even say that.
Roka helps me get through my depression
with his videos and advice.
Absolutely.
Oh, yeah, I can't say that.
I'm not Hispanic.
You can't say with a little accent.
Right.
I'm trying to get people to follow it,
not have people not follow it.
That's true.
Talk to an accent.
Something else will get through my depression.
Well, I appreciate you, man.
And Luis, and anything I can do to help people get through that kind of stuff with mental health,
I always try to speak on that.
I have no shame on that.
That's awesome.
James Diesel, been scratching the It's Star Wars hasn't hit for me.
I've never been more sure that you'd like something.
This show would be expensive, though.
That's cool, though.
Look, go for it.
You know, let's go for something new.
We are won away, by the way, for revealing one of the peeps.
Nice.
One away.
That's it.
Okay, let's say.
Next one.
Thank you, James. I'll have to check that out.
The Nihai Observer has Matt Reeves being a producer on Lannert's influence the tone and feel.
Is he a producer on it?
I think he is.
Is he really?
Hold on, he might be.
That's crazy.
I would not be surprised because they've kind of co-produced a few things lately.
So I would not be surprised.
I'm so interesting.
I'm so interested.
You right.
Says no.
It says no.
Google says no.
Okay.
You know what?
I think he was supposed to.
No, he's not listed.
No, I think he was supposed to do a lantern show.
And then I said, I don't think he's a producer on this.
No, it's not listed it with him.
Yeah, I don't think he's a producer.
John Lawless.
Broke, I know this is a sense of topic.
I don't be pushed it.
Is there any update going on with a hot mic?
Are you just letting, are you letting things cool down?
Well, we just took the week off last week because things were just a little too crazy.
And I personally did not like Jeff's apology.
And we had a conversation on the phone about stuff.
And I think eventually Jeff saw, you know, kind of saw the first apology.
The first apology.
The first apology. I didn't like the first apology.
Right.
And that wasn't the only one who didn't like that.
And, you know, we had a conversation.
Jeff talked to a bunch of people.
And I think Jeff took some time to reflect over the weekend and issued a way better
apology, way more honest apology, a vulnerable apology.
And so I give them credit.
You know, in our society, we want to destroy people left and right.
But we don't want to create grace for people who legitimately see that they've messed
stop and apologize. And so for me,
I thought Jeff's apology was fantastic.
I texted him that. I know it's not easy
for Jeff to be vulnerable. He's a very sensitive
guy. I know people want to hate on him. And so
in the end, I just, you know, I thought that was
really great. So that's what I was saying. We're,
we're having talks about if we're going to continue the show
and what's going to be next. So that's all I can tell you.
Beagle Studios, that Bears game
yesterday, fantastic start.
Oof. 937. A team that is known as
the Bears. The Bears.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let's see.
A team that is known as the bears.
What did you do that twice?
Are you a bears guy?
Oh, a bear's guy, baby.
Of course, he's a fucking bear.
Look at it.
But how are you, how are you a Red Sox fan of bears?
Who else?
Because in 1985, a young kid saw the Super Bowl shuffle.
Oh.
And fell in love with the bears.
And that was it.
That was it.
I mean, at least you stayed loyal.
Well, you know what?
Here's a thing.
Okay, that's fair.
You know, and this is one of the things, too.
I am probably, I didn't realize this as much,
but I'll root for, if they're not playing the Yankees and they're not playing the Mets,
I'll root for the Phillies.
Oh, okay.
That's cool.
I respect that.
Donny baseball is the interim manager.
Oh, right, because he's the manager right now.
He's the interim manager probably going to offer him the spot.
But that's still a Yankee adjacent?
Yeah, he's my favorite baseball player of all time.
Like, you know, I want Donnie baseball again.
get a championship eventually too.
So if it's not the, if it's not the Yankees and it's not,
and the Mets, I would, I would, I would, I would hope that the, I would, I would, I would,
I would, I would, I would want the, the Phillies to, to, to, but he didn't get, I would
have been okay with that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I would have been okay with that.
I love, I love, I love, I love dining baseball.
So, oh, can we take a moment here?
So, PLD says he became a Bears fan, not because of the monsters of the Midway, not
because of the incredible football, not Richard Dent, not Mike Singleton.
not Jim McMahon.
I wasn't 100 years old when they came out.
I was nine years old.
He saw the whitest thing possible,
which was the Super Bowl shuffle and was like,
I'm going to be a Bears fan, dad.
He did it.
He did it.
All right, listen.
We hit 2400.
Hey.
So I mentioned this person earlier.
I mentioned again,
I got a confirmation from this person.
You want to take that tweet?
You want to take the post down?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, let's see it.
What are the hell is it?
Give me a second.
Thank you.
So I mentioned it earlier that I would do this.
And a person confirmed with me the other day,
should we get this funded and get a 16-person tournament,
William the Beast Bibiani.
Oh!
That he will be in the tournament.
So the former team's champion, dominant team champion,
former rival of John Roka,
William Bibiani will be in the tournament.
Should we get it funded?
So you're ready now.
You've got Chris Carr, John Roka, William Bibiani,
confirmed for the tournament should it happen.
Beast!
He confirmed with me the other day.
So time to give me the bill, big man!
That was the best.
That was that whole, that was such a great lead up to that match.
It was.
Yeah.
All right, let's see.
The Bears game yesterday we did that one.
Smetzy.
Roka, love you, guy.
Looking as felt as ever.
Smetzy.
Thank you, God.
Appreciate you.
So is Christian.
Look at it.
He sticking out like crazy.
Hey, man, I'm trying.
Smets, Smets did, well, first of my buddy Aaron started this copy for the video that we did for, we're going to make live on the Kickstarter that I hope to make public pretty soon.
And Smets, and he really started us off in such great direction.
And then Smets took a hold of it.
And you, well, I showed you guys the video that for the 40-day challenge, Smets did that.
But he cut together such a great version of, because he's, you know him.
You look at what he did with the inner geek team.
He's such a perfectionist in general.
And this guy, and I said, you know, take your time.
and do it whenever you can do it and he stayed up all night doing it and he came back the next day with this
copy of it and it looks so good and he you know and then we didn't really give him notes on the music and he did
he's like he put some music on to it too and he's the one thing you probably got to change music and we're
changing the music because but what he did was really good he understood the tone of it right
but he just nailed the version of what we're going for and I can't wait for people to see it because
it's um it really pops so I'm excited to see he's going to finish it up and we're going to get it
hopefully soon.
Okay, let's see.
Ron H. Roca on the fence, but he was getting
hot.
John Lawless, just supporting Roca.
Thank you, John.
Asel.
Christian, you're in a scenario where you're forced to eat
pizza from one of the big four pizza chains.
Which pizza chain do you eat from and choose?
Papa John's with the butter sauce.
He's the only one I would probably do.
Pizza Hut can never, you could do it.
Domino's is like cardboard with sauce and cheese on it.
Um, what are the other,
Papa Johns and what's the other one?
What am I missing?
Domino, I don't know.
They said Dominoes.
Little Caesars?
Little Caesars.
Little Caesars is, it just, it's all cheese, no sauce to it.
So I think it would be, it would be Papa Johns.
I used to be, is Papa Johns was one of those ones in college where there was like
butter sauce who would just hit the butter sauce and I would just down it.
And somehow tomato sauce still came out.
So, um, yeah, that's an easy one for me.
Ron H, the lake house, time mechanics for bullshes.
My buddy didn't understand it.
then again he likes zombie strippers.
Yeah, I mean, you got to kind of
not go into the time mechanics of it.
Yeah, I mean, come on.
Yeah, there's so many movies.
Like, look, one of the best movies of all time
is back to the future.
Yes.
Worst versions of, it makes no sense.
Time travel wise, at all.
The time mechanics in that movie are
the worst in time travel, maybe in any movie,
but it's one of the best movies of all time.
Agreed. Yeah.
Okay, let's see.
Lord Zuka, Zach Snyder's new movie screened,
Tiff. Yikes, yeah, I know, he went through it. Go pal. Catchup paid 50 million for the movie,
spent almost nothing for the marketing and pre-sold the international distribution for 20.
WB took a haircut, but ketchup will make money. Good. And that's what it needs. That's what it needs.
Ronnie Gen X kid. Hi, fellas. Part one out of two. Thank you, Ronnie. Things from Green Lantern that made
me laugh. Hal is so abrasive and the line deliveries broke me. Ah, fuck. I see this is this, this is from the recent episode.
Yeah. Yeah. No, no. No.
of these lines are in the episode. Oh, okay.
She's using, she's like, how can I say this?
She's using jockey lines to convey some of the moments in the episode.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, yeah.
Excuse me, honey.
Yes.
Okay.
So, yeah, I don't, I don't, so I haven't, I haven't seen it.
So I don't, it's kind of gone over my head, but I guess John doesn't understand it.
Yeah.
But yeah, his, his delivery has been great.
He's, this is, he, this is, Kyle Chandler's always great.
This is one of his best roles ever.
100%.
Ever.
Of course.
Actors step up.
Great actor step up.
up to great material and Kyle has done that
for sure. Well, but you know, if you've seen them in interviews,
they are their characters. Oh yeah, yeah.
It's crazy. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Uh, GX Palo. The Oscar voting
closed before the ballot PS. Yeah, but the interview
already took place. I was told things by the Oscars.
I believe them. Everything they told me, I believe.
Come on, man. No, the interview, the interview had already
taking place. People were very, people were very aware
of the interview voting before it closed. So don't,
don't listen to what they tell you in the media.
There was a thing with happened to Bert Reynolds.
Remember he talked crap about the Oscars, didn't win that.
People just like more than, well, at that time, that's 100%.
And look, there's not, there is also truth to the fact that when you're a celebrity and out as much as you are,
yeah, that how you're being portrayed in the media and publicity-wise could hurt you.
A hundred percent, I agree with that.
And I do agree that more people, and Michael B. Jordan is way more beloved than Timothy.
And I think that probably had something to do with it too.
but don't be naive to the fact that people were,
voters were ready to let on to what was coming with that,
with that interview.
Oh, totally.
Yeah.
Ron H.
All this do-hicky nonsense,
crumbum in the heck out of everything.
I've got,
I've gosh darned,
had enough.
Too much filth,
flaring, flaring,
flaring filth.
I mean, sure.
I think you write that in a pamphlet and sell it.
Yeah.
Fiona George,
hope you guys both,
well,
curious what do you guys make of the Sydney,
Sweeney sports ad controversy.
Was she naked?
Is that what?
Yeah, she was promoting something to supposedly elevate women's sports.
And she did it nude, of course, because she loves attention.
And the, but a lot of female Olympic athletes came out over the weekend and bashed the ad because they said,
we've worked so hard not to be over sexualized as athletes.
And here comes a woman who's not even an athlete and returns the male gaze.
And I think it's a fair point, you know, so.
Um, yeah, I guess it's like, I, I just, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know enough about it. I don't know enough about it. So I'm not going to say anything. Although it's like, but I will say this in the same way that you were talking before about critics who were going after like Snyder because they don't like him. Women do not. A lot of women are starting to not to like her. Right. Yes. Right. And they go after her for certain things too. So it doesn't. I wonder. Because they see through her. I wonder. I wonder. I wonder.
if it was someone else that was doing it,
that was more aligned with them
doing the same thing,
right. That was likable to them,
would they have cared as much? I think the answer is no.
Well, no, because it would probably be, like,
I see Mike Joyce bringing up the ESPN body issue.
Well, who are in the ESPN body issue? Oh, athletes.
So athletes should speak about women athletes
when it comes these kinds of things.
You've got someone like Sydney Sweeney, who's not an athlete.
You should not talk about this.
Hey, she played Christy Martin.
Yeah, that's nice.
First of all, that is not true.
She is an athlete.
She's not a professional athlete.
There we go.
That's what I'm getting at.
She, but she's not a professional athlete.
But she is, everyone's a fucking athlete.
No, no, no.
But she was like, she was playing sports.
She was like, you know, getting, I don't know what was a college level,
but she's like a legit athlete.
She is.
I mean, that's, I was doing it when I was when she was doing the,
because when she was throwing punches
I was like
she's done that before or she's athletic
because she's she's throwing punches
and you can tell
like again not shit I'm a lady
Julie Roberts can't throw punches for shit
No no
There's a movie that she was in it was
It was a what the hell was it?
What was the follow up to
The to pretty woman that she did with Richard Gere
Runaway bride.
And there's a scene where she's
punching a punching bag in the beginning.
And it's like, no.
No.
But will you have like Sydney,
Sweeney, she can throw bombs.
So she's athletic.
She definitely was an athlete and stuff.
Yes, she's not in numerous sports.
Yes, but not professional.
Okay.
R.C.
Does Gunn love DC comics?
Yes, but he loves the wanky characters,
not the OG Trinity characters.
That's what scares me about him leading DC.
I mean, you know,
it's like it's what i hope what i hope as when we hope that he's taking those notes of okay
maybe i maybe i did go a little too silly in the first one superman i'm going to change it maybe he
hears the note of we don't want to see all these obscure characters all the time maybe maybe we
maybe we get to maybe that's why he's putting wonder woman in there to say like okay let's see how she
does in this one how they respond to her and then let's start working on that movie and get that movie out
and then they introduced batman you know somehow you think
Batman's going to show up in a post-credit scene a manna tomorrow.
God, I hope not.
I hope that's not how they do it.
I hope that's not how they do it.
You know, that would just be so weird to do it that way.
I mean, if they, if they cast him ahead of time, okay, fine.
But I just think it would be weird to do it that way.
Okay.
We'll see.
Hey, Marvel, where are the Eternals, L.O.L.
Oh, are they going to show up at all or no?
Or are they going to pretend that they never existed.
I think a lot of things are going to get cold.
Like Hulk's son?
Yeah, Hulk's son.
Ronnie
Gen X kid
You drink coffee
The Midwest Huxibles
Mom and Dad look at each other
And we're thinking that MF broke me
That's the look
That that was funny
Last episode
That was hilarious
Midwest Huxbles
Was crazy work
I went slackjawed the audacity
Microaggression anyone
Something a boomer would say
Thinking it was a compliment
I mean totally
100%
That's yeah
And then he says
Man will be the highest
Domestic
Man of Tomorrow
Highest Domestic
It's a gruesome of all time.
And yes, again, wait.
Oh, Spider-Man.
Spider-Man.
I was like, wait a minute.
Ronnie, you lost me there.
Spider-Man will be the highest domestic grossing of all time.
Yes.
Well, is it going to beat Star Wars?
Yeah, it's just a few million away from Star Wars.
Is it really?
Not even in double digits.
It's like a few million away.
Wow.
And yes, again, I did help this weekend.
Don't worry, Michael won with my movie visits.
There's no, you saw like 47 times, right?
Yeah, I think Spider-Man's going to, that's why it's such a crazy stat.
Yeah.
That Doomsday has already sold over 52 million in ticket sales.
It's 65% ahead of where a brand-new day was at this time in its role in comparable time.
Now, granted, granted, that Spider-Man didn't start selling tickets until, you know.
But that's right, right, right.
That's what I'm saying.
In its relative build-up time, yeah, yeah, yeah, but still.
I'm saying.
But still, it's still the fact that it doesn't change the fact that it still did that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's also that kind of money.
All right, let's see.
Ronnie.
All right, guys, have a great evening.
Looking forward to watching episodes five of five of lanterns tonight.
Have a great beautiful day.
So same.
I'm waiting for Sam.
I'm hoping I can get Sam in here today, at least for a little bit.
I am going to go jump because I know how crazy, like, as I was telling you guys,
Tuesday until Friday
is just nonstop for me with
shooting and screenings and interviews and
everything too and then
next week it's on you know with the Kickstarter
and I'm not going to stop and then we have our
live show with a comedy show on October 8th
so I'm going to take my one day to day
my buddies and I are going to go to the Mets game
and we're going to go um because
Yankees are in Minnesota so it's like all right you'll go
and they're playing they're playing it's Pete Alonzo's like
return game I don't know I like Pete Alonzo
So we're going to go there and I'm just going to chill out, relax, take a breather and then, you know, then just get into the shooting.
So hopefully tomorrow we get Landers done, if not today.
So, um, Anthony Colson, I believe you missed the screening, but hope was effing insane.
It's like Michael Bay meets Spielberg meet Stephen King, a sci-fi action horror comedy that feels like Transformers Fury Road.
I mean, that's, so that's a pretty raven review of that.
Interesting.
Okay.
Yeah.
So there you go.
That's where Ron H. didn't like it.
Who's more of an influencer to you?
Is it Anthony Colston? Anthony Colston or Ron H?
So we'll see.
Apparently, brand new day just needs $1.5 million to top it.
Wow.
That's what I'm saying.
It's not double digits.
It's single digits it needs, yeah.
PLD coming in with some good facts here.
Sidney Sweeney was training in MMA from age 12 to 19.
Where are you getting that information from PLD, which is one of her PR people?
No, he used to go to the classes and watch her from the outside.
I bet he did.
I bet he did.
Do you know the Super Bowl?
Come on.
Can you do the Super Bowl shuffle?
No, I certainly can.
No, I'm saying you're asking her.
I know, and I'm saying I would do it with her.
All right, but she would.
28 Vasco.
But whose breast would be bigger.
Oh, stop.
We stop it.
Don't, no, no, no, no shaming.
I'm allowed.
I'm allowed.
You're both doing, you guys are both looking good.
We're both looking good.
All right, listen.
28 Vascoe.
thoughts on Shama and Nicholas Sparks collaboration or remain.
Interesting.
Very weird.
Very weird.
Yeah.
Interesting.
Ace money, 3046.
The simulation thing could be legit.
That's why our world has felt like a shitty fan fiction ever since 2016.
You know, if you look at the theories and again, most science, you can't, you can't rub your eyes though when you haven't heard.
I can.
I can.
I can.
I mean, even, even freaking, uh, Neil deGrasse Tyson was skeptical about everything.
That's the one thing.
theory he thinks could be true. And when you go through all of the actual what simulations are
and how that could potentially be a thing, I just understand why AI would be introduced into it.
That's the only thing that drives me crazy about it. I think all this stuff is people have way
too much time and think about and overthink this stuff and create these nonsense theories about
a simulation and it's just nonsense because you can't be religion. You can't be religious
and believe that we're in a simulation. That doesn't make a
any sense unless you think God
is creating a simulation to
fuck with us and do you really believe that? That's not
necessarily true. You can't have both things. You can't.
That's not necessarily true, but it's a long conversation.
Clay Titus 1.
John answered this right. John is Mike on hiatus?
Here's question. Don't say you're going to do things to my dad.
He answered a little while ago. He's having
conversations. Ronnie, Gen X
Kid. Oh, I had to comment on the
AI of it all. Read Octavia Butler's book.
She was an American science fiction writer from back in the day.
She predicted everything that's going on
right now. I really. Did she really? Yeah.
Is that studying this for a while, bro? Yeah. And yeah, it's happening. All right.
Oh, what did you think about Sammy's name winning the title again? I mean, I was just like, yeah,
I love Sammy. I do, but I don't understand. It wasn't like Punk's run was like flaccid.
Punk's run was really good right now. I'll tell you, surprise why they did it. Yeah,
I, I, I mean, too. What I really liked, though, when I saw over the weekend, and again, I literally
watch any updates I get from
on social media. I never
watch it anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I love the fact
this is Stephanie, how do you say?
I love that she wanted
at a house show. Yeah, in her
hometown. Yeah, in her hometown. I love that.
That's like shades of
Kevin Nash and Bob Backland.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love when they used to
and Brett Hart and Rick Flair.
It's, that was like a
I think it was a house show. It was a taping, whatever was.
But I love that shit.
I love like, because it makes it seem more real.
Like it could happen anywhere.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I like when they used to do that.
I always was like, okay,
this should happen.
It should happen more at house shows, for sure.
And then you should televise the house show and make more some money off of it.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
Tristan Green.
Roka, are you caught up on Lioness?
How great is that show?
And Zoe in particular, underrated actress.
You think she's underrated?
She won the Oscar like two years ago.
That's true.
for uh what the hell was that film nobody talks about me nobody talks about that movie anymore
but she but she but she was what everybody talked about you remember her no one remembers
the singing and dancing movie right i don't know what's and all the controversy behind it yeah
no one no remembers the name of the movie oh what's it got studying old man better get studying
yeah what is it though oh he doesn't know either he doesn't know either he just trying to
what is it amelia perz amelia
People already said in the chat.
I can't give him credit.
But I'm not caught up on Linus in terms of the recent episode last night because I went late on my review on my review of lanterns.
Lady Al.
I always wait to watch it with Lady Alas.
She loves Alina.
So we're going to watch it tonight for sure.
But Zoe is amazing in the show.
This whole season is the best season of the show.
And I haven't even finished the season.
It's that good.
I haven't even watched it yet.
Oh, see one.
I know here it's great.
2403.
Can we get to 2,500 today?
Let's try it.
A little Yankee.
Happy Monday, Jens.
Quick support on my way to work.
Hope our Yanks Clinch tonight versus Minnesota.
They sure need to.
Can't wait for you and Sam to see lanterns.
Christian, more DCU like that.
Please. Have a great in a safe week.
So you like the last episode, John, right?
Of lanterns?
Yeah.
I think it's the best episode, possibly, of the season.
I thought it was amazing.
It's good to know.
John Holdridge.
Thank you for that one, by the way.
Can we get Smets on Mondays occasionally,
I miss their dynamic from Jedi Way.
Have a great week, gentlemen.
Mondays and Wednesday is my favorite shows.
Yeah, I mean, look,
So Smets has a very particular schedule, right?
He works.
So he comes to edit.
Yeah,
and Wednesdays is when he's able to come in.
But he does want to jump in and play the games with other people.
And he definitely has mentioned many times to me that he wants to do it.
Grow up for two.
So we'll,
yeah,
we'll get it.
Yeah,
he's the best.
So Ron H.
I apologize for being damn near perfect.
Sorry.
Never,
never apologize for that.
Luis von second.
Can Doomsday be a three billion film after Spider-Man brand new day?
I mean,
yeah.
I mean, I still think, I'm telling, I'm making my prediction now,
making my second crazy prediction.
Okay.
Doomsday, again, if it is a good movie and it does what the repeat business.
Oh, now we're saying if it's, I've always, I've said that since the story.
I just want to make sure that's clear that it applies to all the movies.
Well, we don't go, but they'll make a lot of money.
Right.
But I don't have a bet with anybody on Doomsday saying that it's got to be at 91%
in order to be considered good, you knucklehead.
So Doomsday in general, if it's decent,
is that repeat viewing that's that brand new day.
Oh yeah, totally.
That's why it continued to do well.
Yeah, yeah.
I think my prediction is not that it will be the first $3 billion.
I think it will be the second $3 billion movie.
I think that I think that Endgame will make $200 million.
I've changed my money.
I think it's going to be, I think it's going to make $200 million,
and I think it's going to be the first $3 billion movie of all time.
I think you're 100% right.
You're looking at that trailer, the numbers that, just the trailer teasing the new footage
broke all kinds of records on YouTube.
So that tells you the hunger people have to see Endgame in the theaters again.
I think it's going to make a crap time.
I think it's going to make a ton, especially the people who started talking about like the scenes
and shit if it's relevant to the new movie.
And it's later this month, bro.
I know.
It comes out on the 29, I think, or something like that.
Mr. I crap and shits.
Here we go, Brownies, here we go.
If you weren't with us during this 0-1-16, don't jump on the panwagon for the 0-17 run.
How embarrassing.
why are they so i mean they can't they can't turn around there it's like turn around for shit i mean
you can't you can't do anything we don't have a quarterback they all suck all their quarterbacks
suck yeah it's really bad um all right lincoln west i second smet smet roka was an avid fan of jet o way
there you go thank you lincoln yeah he says no comment christian not hispanic nice tan
looked younger than roka i am younger than roka
I'm on the Brude Squad.
You are the Brut Squad.
You are the Brut Squad.
Seattle K-O.
Seahawks, 49ers.
Cardinals 1 and No, Rams.
On 1 a week, NFC is quite the sight to see.
I loved watching that game last night.
Yeah.
I really did.
It was just sitting there with the, it was really pretty awesome.
It was pretty awesome.
The first section of games were so much fun to watch.
There was a lot of tight games.
I was watching the four multi-view on my direct ticket or on my YouTube
direct ticket. It was a blast, man.
So many tight games. The afternoon
games weren't quite as great. And then the
fucking Giants game was fantastic. I was so
like, I'd never cheer for the Giants,
but I'll cheer for anybody against the Cowboys.
That's how I am against the Cowboys,
and that's how I am against the Red Sox.
Oh, yeah. One million percent.
Right. Yeah. Yeah.
Casey, gee, can you time travel
snobs explain a time space GPS?
No, I don't know how to do that.
Not for $2.00.
No, I don't know how to do that.
No, I don't know how.
to do it, Casey.
I mean, look, I always see these things.
You know, it's so funny about it.
You ever see these Instagram reels and you're like,
you can only choose one.
Fly.
Oh, yeah.
Time travel, this, that, you know, whatever.
I never pick fly.
I never pick fly.
You would want to fly?
People don't, you're not,
because you're not saying fly with a impervious suit
to not get hit in the face with hail,
to not get, you know,
The weather is not the same in every place on the planet.
That's true. That's true.
And it's like, yeah, you can fly, but then how high can you go?
I'm not Superman.
If I'm just going flying, it's like, I'm, you know, it's like, is it raining in certain parts?
I get struck by lightnings.
Screw that.
I'd rather teleport.
I don't, I've never been a big, I want a fly guy.
I'd rather teleport.
Yeah.
Anyway, Casey, thank you.
Big Bang.
O-T-4.
Visit New York City the first time, it's amazing.
I really have loved being back and just like, even when I go, like,
I wouldn't have wanted to move back to the city itself,
but I love being able to just visit it like that,
whatever I want.
Like, going in tomorrow, I'm like, I like going into the city.
I like going, like the feel of it, just the energy.
It's pretty great.
Yeah.
Batch code 5065.
Hey, remember when Rocha was convinced that Snoke was Mof Tarkin?
He man was cooking with ingredients that didn't exist.
Was that a theory of yours?
I don't remember.
Honestly, I don't remember.
It was so long ago.
I'm on so many shows.
I say so many things in the moment.
But people like, I've held on to this fact and I'm going to get him with this.
Bro, come on, bro.
Like,
seriously, get a light.
But it's funny.
Like I said, I've said,
the problem is that we're on microphones and cameras.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
And they wish they were.
Well, no, but I don't know about that.
But for me, it's more so of, of like,
I can guarantee you that my boy.
batch code probably had some really ridiculous theories.
Oh, yeah.
That were never public. Of course.
You know, they're in a republic.
So, you know, no one's going to hold him and say, hey, remember that time?
Batch code said, you know, that, uh, that Wicked was going to come back and rule the rule
the first order.
Yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
You can't say.
That's the front facing job.
That's part of the job.
Jedi Knight of the typical men and women love Sydney Sweeney.
The male gaze is also enjoyed by women, too.
women love seeing attractive women just as much as men do i don't think she's as i mean as
beloved as you think she was people yeah men definitely do for sure they know that about and she's
super popular and i think there's a lot of women who do like her too but they're people are turning on her
as well but the the female gays men male gays there's a guy i can't remember his name
in and smet you may be able to make a short out of this is one of my favorite you know there's like
certain shorts that pop up that even if you've seen in a million times you just watch it again
do you have shorts that you just see even if I watch on YouTube sure all the time
there's this one this one guy and he's the best he's this long blonde hair and he just seems
like I don't know where he's from it's the UK I can't remember where he's from but he just looks
like a surfer dude there's this woman and she goes she's a picture of Chris Hemsworth's a store
or something to it and she goes and she's like this is the female gaze
and then it switches to him and he goes no
That's Chris Hemsworth.
Female gays are called lesbians.
It's my favorite.
I watch it.
I can watch it a million times over it.
It always makes me laugh.
It always puts me in a good mood.
And he's got this little giggle that he does afterwards.
He just laughs.
He's the best.
He's the best.
So, yeah, if you've ever seen that, you should check it out.
It's pretty great.
Anyway, okay, let's see.
Next one.
And we have, Spets, if we can find that,
We should make a short of that because I really love it.
I'll tag him on it too.
He's great.
Okay.
There it is.
Big Bang.
O240,
Lanterns is a 10 out of 10 show that needs to make DC overall more mature tone.
Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are perfect casting.
They really are perfect casting.
Yeah.
Perfect.
Like absolutely perfect.
I push back on the,
I don't think it's a 10 out of 10 show.
There are quibbles about some of the decisions the Manhunter makes.
But like the need to make DC overall mature tone,
I don't think you do.
I think you have to have elements of it that are,
that are there, but you can't get away from, you know, a little more of the goofier Superman.
People want that. People want that.
Fair enough.
He's Australian, by the way.
Oh, the guy?
Not British, yeah.
Griffin's Shaw Media.
Was Smet saying no for the tourney?
Would you have him on guest commentary like Mara and Rachel in the past?
Rokka's my money is on you to win the whole thing.
Hachda.
First of all, this is what I, this is what, when Kevin was telling me he wasn't going to be in it, this is what, this is my head.
I was not listening because it's not true.
Oh, really?
I didn't make a pitch to him.
I made no pitch to them whatsoever to try even be in it.
He just made, I didn't even ask you.
He just made, well, he just made a statement, but of course I would ask him,
but he made a statement as if I did ask him and that he was respectfully turning it down.
I didn't make a pitch to him.
I didn't tell him yet what, you know, if there were going to be intergeekdom categories,
if there was going to be this, if there was going to be a chance for him,
what the lineup could potentially be in the brackets,
nothing,
nothing was presented to him and he has to realize that I know him.
And that if I said,
well,
wait a minute,
you've got this,
this,
this,
that if this happens,
you might actually face this person in round one.
And if you win,
you might actually face this person in round two.
So even if you don't win,
you got two marquee matchups to get you back into it.
And then if we do a live event,
then you can get into an inner geek to match the thing.
he's full of shit he's full of shit
and he knows he is
in the same way that Mike's full of shit
I haven't even I haven't made a pitch to Mike either
yeah I haven't made a pitch to him either
also any hopes for Crusher and Sam's return
this hopes for anybody to return true
aeosci himatsu
finally saw Super Bowl and HBO I enjoyed it more than Superman
wow wow understand the hate also Pete returns to
queen sitting on 299 homers I know
it'd be pretty crazy tonight if he hit a homer
um to get a 300
That'd be a cool game to go to for sure.
It's so funny because I'm like, and I think this is me because getting older,
my one friend, Barnaby, I'm going with Barnaby and my other friend tonight.
But Barnaby's like, well, let's sit in the upper decks.
I go, I would rather shit in a bag and sit with it the whole time than to go in the upper
decks.
Is it nothing against people who like the overdex?
I'm too old for that.
I don't like it.
I like having, if I'm going to go to a game, I like to have a nice seat.
and then I sent these
the Mets right now
I mean they're better than they were
but you can get good seats
for not that much
so I said to my friend
I sent them I was like let's get these
he's like I'm not paying that much
to sit down on that that side
with blah blah blah and I'm like
what are we doing?
He's like relax we can still find good seats
I'm like fine all right
that's fine let's try to find something
I go because my my other friend
got these seats last time and I hated them
I hated the seats
And I was like, I was like, fine.
And I was just hanging out my buddies.
It was cool.
But I hated the seats so much.
These aren't.
They're bad.
I'm like,
these are shit.
Yeah.
And I just,
I,
especially I'm going to go to a Mets game.
Yeah.
I'm not a Mets fan.
I'm going to go to a Mets game.
I want to have nice seats because I want to see what's going on.
Anyway,
Ron Age,
we living in the Matrix?
I know Kung Fu.
No,
I can't wait to watch that again.
Hope was bonkers.
Crazy action.
I'll watch it.
No, Hank P.
I haven't,
but I mean,
so,
so far.
shit yeah
yeah yeah um
argo 4512 i don't know if you cover this i heard they're doing a tv series on point break
i did not hear this they try this with the movie reboot and was awful yeah that was that ran
into a lot of problems though hope they set this one as the same time period as the o g i agree
with that as well i think they should absolutely because when you start getting into the technology
of it all it becomes too convenient of them being able to get away with because if it was today
the Utah and the rest of what?
Sorry.
It's set for the diet.
It's the present day. Yeah.
That's stupid.
It inspired by the president's squad.
Stupid.
Stupid.
I mean, you have to, I mean, depends on who's doing it.
It is Dave Kallstein from NCS, Los Angeles, and Tredstone and Christopher C. Rogers.
It did halt and catch fire and sugar.
I'm not excited about it.
I'm not excited about it. Maybe it seems like it's going to be like, no, it'll leave a weapon show.
Okay, cool.
Hank Pym.
It's good.
And AMC has greenlit it.
So it will probably be a series of AMC.
I hope it's,
I hope it turns out to be a surprise hit.
But yeah.
I don't know if you can capture that magic back then.
And people,
people take,
like everyone,
rightfully so,
the first thing you think of when you think of that movie.
Yeah.
Ganna Reeves, Patrick Swayze.
Catherine Bigelow directed it.
Yes,
100%.
She's a tremendous.
She's a tremendous director.
She was a tremendous director.
Granted,
it was a younger part of her career,
but it was what started to go,
look what she could do with that.
Yeah.
And like,
don't forget that she was a big part of
why that movie was as good as it was.
Okay.
Well, I didn't go.
Hank Pimp, thank on the thoughts in the minus zero trailer.
Which one was that?
I don't know.
Godzilla.
Godzilla, minus zero.
Oh, oh, I didn't watch.
I won't watch it.
I won't watch it because I'm going to see it in the theater.
I don't want to know anything about it.
Oh, I did a reaction.
to it is amazing. So good.
Captured that energy from the first
one so well. I cannot wait.
Cannot. G.X. Palau.
Is Snyder Wash who's going to hire him?
People hire him because he's got an audience.
They're going to hire. Well, he doesn't need to be hired.
He made a $10 million film.
Right. So, like,
if he keeps the budgets low and does
what he wants to do, he doesn't need to be hired.
He just does his own thing and sells his movies.
Ronnie, did you miss him?
No, I got the one about Montreal.
Are you sleeping?
I got the one. We talked about Montreal, instead of it was going to the schmodeowns.
I got that one.
Is that another, unless it's another one that I missed.
Hank Pimp, expectations for the rest of the month's movies.
Resident Evil, excited for that one.
Forgotten Island and Primetime.
Which is the prime time?
Which one is that?
It's the Robert Pattinson one with the, he's doing the Predator guy.
Oh, is it this month?
Yeah.
Oh, shit. Who's doing that?
What studio?
Yeah.
Oh, I don't really know right now.
I think it's a 24.
Oh, is it?
I got to reach out to it.
I got to try.
That one I want.
want to see i want to sell three of those right um okay ergo i heard they're bringing back westworld and
rebooting it such a big shame fan of the show and i think the topic of a i and robots are more relevant now
i mean that's definitely true the last part of it um i never watched west world so i can't really
say whether or not a reboot is is a good idea bad idea did you watch it i did i watched the first
season and then it kind of got a little way out there in the second season i just tuned out after that
Plus, Ed Harris is in it, who's really not that good
of an actor.
It's a waste of my motherfucking time!
That's a way to get him, see?
Speechless.
You made him speechless.
Ron H.
So Peter Pan flying.
Thank you, Kevin.
So Peter Pan flying is also bullshit.
No, because he flew in a different destination
and knew where to fly to get himself into like an island.
location he was okay yeah uh we got 66 so far trying to get to some more here too before we
we still got potentially 15 minutes left you guys want to keep come on send some in people come
come on hang pym expectations for the rest of them oh we did that one resident evil yeah we did
yeah we did it forgot i don't i mean there you go oh ron h attractive women and men in montreal
just saying yeah i'm sure i mean yeah attractive men and women and everywhere every
yeah uh run age currently number two a piece of shiz yeah that's
fair. Currently number two. What you mean? Sorry. KAH kind of high. I can't remember everything. That's fair.
Totally fair. Okay. Yeah. So currently, as I said, Johnny got 67 as we started off the data. Pretty,
pretty good so far. And I think also people are getting ready as we're getting closer to the
to the Kickstarter. Because I've been a lot of messages that people are kind of and rightfully so holding back
and saving. Yeah, which is things. So 24-04 right now currently on and I'd love to try to get to at least
2,500, hopefully, I mean, it would be great by the end of the week.
If we could hit 3,000, that'd be amazing.
Oh, yeah.
If we could do it leading into the actual Kickstarter.
Because, you know, we did, like, I took a lengthy kind of goal and tried to get the
5,000, but it normally was looking at the numbers.
And from what it normally, you know, I think that some people usually launch at this time.
They have like 800 to 900 backers.
So we're far ahead of the curve, which is great.
I wanted to actually see one of the things that I could.
I googled something because I had questions.
I was asking.
And I just wanted to read this out because I wanted to see like,
I'm going, going over like stats and seeing, you know,
what is where we are kind of sizing up.
And so right now the thing that I wrote said pre-launch records in general say historically
crowdfunding giants like the legend of Vox Macanao or mystery science theater
3000 didn't rely heavily on pre-launch follower metrics because Kickstarter didn't build this
official notify me pre-launch page until 2020.
Because of this, modern campaigns are shattering old records, purely because of how the platform has now evolved.
Today, there's gaming and pop culture franchises routinely leverage pre-launch pages to build enormous momentums.
The scale.
A standard, healthy Kickstarter campaign needs about 1,000 to 2,000 pre-launch followers to comfortably hit a six-figured goal.
The elite, crossing a 6,000 pre-launch followers historically placed a project in position to chase a million-dollar campaign.
With Christian-in-lawful, a ready, clear.
over 2,300 followers well ahead of his September 22nd,
22nd, 26 launch. He has firmly crossed into the elite zone for indie television
tracking. So this is why I try to, you know, tell you guys in general. Yeah.
That I believe that we all are going to be able to make history. I think we're all
going to be able to do it. We're all going to. And I think that we have enough people that,
like I said, we're all going to hold arms together and do this and make it happen and say overall,
look what we were able to do.
Because the goal is reachable to where we could make this thing.
The number one, most funded 30-minute comedy pilot.
We could potentially break that record together.
And that would be something to say that we all did it.
We've been talking about this thing for a year.
I'm going to wipe about it today.
She's like, because you know, you get into a place where you just start to go,
it's crunch time.
It's crunch time. It's crunch time.
And she's like, you know, we've been doing, you've been talking about this for a year.
You're going to work hard.
You're going to do your, you're going to do.
And, you know, and she was, it's like that scene on the beach, Rocky 3.
Mm.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's one of those.
All right.
Haskell.
Oh, Star Wars.
Kevin.
Christian.
F, she didn't pitch me a spot.
I just said that.
I know that.
That's what I just said.
I was answering a super chat.
Me answering hypothetical isn't me R's being one another, but now my answer is for sure.
No.
Bullshit.
bullshit. You comment that like I don't know, like I don't know you. You're going to tell me
that I'm going to offer you this shot to be, to have that chance to compete again. And who
knows who's going to be recording it, what it's going to be for, what kind of press will get
for it. You're not going to want to be involved. You know the man, Roka. You think he's full of
shit? All you do it, all you got to do is threaten to give the spot to check.
Andrew and he'll show up and take it.
Or Kalanowski.
Or Kalinowski.
Yeah.
Who arguably they both, I mean,
Kalinowski has fought on the regular movie side.
I think that's probably what Kevin is nervous.
I think that's what Kevin is nervous.
I mean,
I'd be nervous too if I was Kevin.
But it's like,
but that's the thing is that he's not, that's not his strength.
He's an,
he's an absolute beast when you put him in the IG stuff.
Like who the hell wants to be in the,
in the ring with that guy during that.
But like,
but he's beatable in singles.
And he knows that.
And so that's why he wanted to do teams and
too. So what I think what in his mind, he probably would be like, well, it, it, it, this is,
this is the conundrum he would be in. Yeah. It's, okay. I either don't do this at all and hope that we can
get an inner geek to match. Yeah. And then I can show people what I used to do and how good I was at it.
Yeah. Um, because if I perform in the singles tournament and I lose in the first round, people go,
oh, that guy wasn't very good. And it's not who I was. Right.
Right. But the other side of it is, all right, I had all this stuff. He was going to put in her geekdom categories in the first round and he's put it on the wheel and chance I could have done this. And who knows who was recording it or where we could have gone or what we could have done with it and where it's going to lead to. I just don't believe it. I just don't believe it. All right. Let's see. Next one. Haskell. Should Penta beat Roman for the title tonight? I'm not a big Penta guy. I'm not a big Penta guy.
Oh, I love Pentham, but no way should he beat Roman for the time.
That's nonsense.
Yeah, he, I mean, I should, I say, he reminds me like Cocoa Beware.
What?
Say, Coco beware type guy.
He's great, he's great, he's great for entertainment.
He's like, he's a good, he's a good worker.
He's a good, Coco was a great worker.
Come on.
He is in the, he is on the level with Ricky Steamboat.
That's crazy.
I see title level.
Savage!
Out of your mind.
Savage? You're out of your mind.
You're a nutball.
You're out of your mind.
Penta is one of the greatest Wester's walking Earth today.
But he doesn't have that 100% alpha dog leader status with the big companies,
but he definitely is on the realm.
Can we agree?
And Savage were an icy title.
Can we agree that out of all of them, out of all of them,
Cocoa Beware had the best finisher regardless.
The brainbuster was awesome.
The brainbuster was awesome.
I love Coco. Don't get me wrong.
So this you'll know.
because you're old like me.
But what was the bird's name?
Oh.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
How do you not know this?
Oh, my God.
I haven't thought about that in such a long time.
Do you know it?
Don't say it.
No, he looked it up.
No, I think he knows it.
No, I think he knows it.
I don't remember.
Frankie.
Frankie!
Right.
Yeah.
Frankie.
That's right.
Gregory.
Dopp,
seeing Roxy movie today.
Can't wait for Fall 2.
Oh, yeah.
Let me know how she is.
I want to know.
Yeah.
Ron H, we and the community want royalties.
Hashtag trending.
We don't even have any royalties yet.
There's no royalties for nothing yet.
Let's see.
Erigo, did you see the new trailer show, The Peacock Show, Crystal Lake and below at Josh Grenet?
You know, I had it up and I was about to start watching it.
And for some reason, I forgot I had the damn thing up there.
Did you see it?
Was it good?
Yeah, I saw the Crystal Lake trailer over the weekend.
I thought it was great.
Kind of into the show now and I wasn't going to be initially.
Because I like Linda Cardalini.
And I think she's good in the trailer.
Yeah.
And then below looks really interesting.
That's Josh Hartnet.
Garnett. I don't know who Judge Garnett is.
But that's a Netflix one, and I'm looking
forward to that one as well. Yeah, yeah.
Ron H. Whoops,
community and myself want money.
Blah, blah, blah. There you go.
We all want money. Everybody.
That's it. So, John,
good right now. 72. Where can the good people
find? Yeah, you can find me at the Rokasas
on social media. Please head on over there, follow me there.
And my YouTube.com.com
slash John Roker says, Michael live tonight.
You never know on a Monday. I was sometimes
going to bug out my ass and go live. But either way,
We got Spill the Tequila coming up here, GeekBudies,
possibly Hot Mike this week.
I'll let you guys know what's going on with that.
But yeah, all and my reactions and reviews out of theater reaction.
And also, don't forget about the Cineophiles, my podcast that I have that I do.
We just wrapped up part three of the searchers.
1956 is the Searchers.
It is up there for you all to listen to as well.
Thanks, Christian.
Happy Monday, everybody.
Go to that Kickstarter and subscribe.
Oh, we got two more.
That's two more.
Right before you left.
Let me throw those up there.
Hold on.
Jay Mobile.
I hope Superman is also more super.
I rewatched it and he was very unsuper.
Just gang helps with kaiju.
Dog helped with Ultraman.
He got beat up a lot.
I mean, yeah.
I think that's fair.
I'd like to see a little bit more of Superman kind of becoming himself.
John Nash Ford, 68 and he said.
Just got here.
But in no way, no way is Penton Savage in the same ballpark.
I'm with you, John.
That's crazy talk.
Another bad opinion from John Ash.
No, no surprise.
No, John Ash is on point.
No surprise.
He is nuts to put him in that same category.
He is as good as.
He said he ever was in the same category.
Penton wouldn't even say that.
Pence would say you're crazy for putting me in that.
Pentas's been wrestling longer and has had more accomplishments than Savage ever did in his time.
You guys...
That's late.
You guys are caught in this nostalgia of Savage for about five years in the W.
Did you just say he had more...
...enult in WCW.
...en accomplishments than Randy Savage?
Obscissed throughout his entire career, Penta has got more titles and been the star of more
How many times he's been the champ?
Then Savage.
How many times he's been the world champion?
How many times he's the main event?
You mean the WWE world champion?
The biggest title.
He hasn't gotten that far yet.
No.
But I mean, Savage had it for what?
One runs.
Is that right?
Two runs.
Savage wrestled a time when the titles weren't given
Willie Millie back and forth.
Titles change every three days nowadays.
That's a little half.
Johnny Patrice it.
Thoughts on Steve Borden, your AW debut.
Oh, so did he just debut that Sting's son?
Dude, he looks just like old school sting.
Jesus Christ, doesn't he?
I hope.
I never, look, I respect the hell out of sting.
I love Sting.
I think Sting's one of the best of all time.
I never loved the Crow gimmick.
I never really understood.
What?
I'll tell you why.
I'll tell you why, because here's the difference.
Here's the reason why.
Go ahead.
Because even though you can make the same argument for Razor Ramon,
who is essentially just Tony,
Montana, right? Yes. The crow was just the crow. I mean, he was the crow. And he was like,
he didn't, he didn't come up with the own gimmick. He just took the crow. And he's like,
and he literally would just show up from the ceiling. And it was the crow. And I was like,
when he was staying with the surfer cut and like, it's the badass motherfucker. Like when he was,
that was my favorite, oh, it's my favorite version of Sting. So I'd love to see what he's going to do,
what his son's going to do. And hopefully there's something like that. I, I hope he's a big star.
How dare you denigrate Scott Hall? How do you denigrate Scott Hall? How do you denigate
the debt. Scott Hall gave him the crow gimmick. He's the one that came up with the idea for the
grow gimmick because it makes sense. That makes sense. Yeah, I mean, it worked on. So let's see.
Smetzy, you're dead on to be honest, but I just think there are 15 more people deserving
than me to don't. Well, don't do that. Let me let me, let me decide that. Um, is that it?
I think so. This dude's given an Oscar speech. Uh, 15 people more deserving. I'm so,
get out of here, Kevin. No. You know, you take it a
in a heartbeat. I love you. All right. Goodbye everybody. Much love. All right. Thank you guys for
being here today. I have a couple things that I got to do today, like I said, because of what's going on
in general with everything that I have with the screenings and the interviews and all that,
he was. Thanks for that. Why would we put that up? Great. I was take another one off. I was
take another one off. Perfect. So with everything I got going on right now, like I said, I think
Today's going to just be like kind of like my refreshing day.
And then tomorrow we're just,
so I'll probably do another super show tomorrow or Wednesday or whatever.
And once we get into next week, there will be super shows up the zoo.
So I'm going to take a little bit of a break today.
I'm going to have some lunch.
And then, yeah, so if you're at the Mets game, say hello.
But other than that, thank you guys so much.
We've got to try to get.
to 3,000 before we launch. It would be amazing. We can do that. And as I said, we have a lot of
different tiers that we're ready to release. And if you're watching this show and you are a daily
watcher, if you watch on the replay, whatever it might be, if you're listening on Spotify,
when we launch in the 22nd, if we can get 13,000 people to put in 25 bucks for this thing,
We make this show.
We start to kind of make history where it comes to the Kickstarter side of it, I think.
And we're going to really do what other people have been doing in the film space.
We're going to do it in TV.
We're all going to do it together.
So I hope that you guys will enjoy what we're giving you.
I'm going to give you a video soon so you can see a little bit more of the dynamic with myself and martini.
It's a little bit more about the team that we have involved.
should be able to make an announcement about that pretty soon.
And that's it.
So, yeah, I got a week before we're ready to go.
And I want to make sure I want to make all you proud.
So let's do it together.
Thank you guys again.
Thanks for everybody.
Thanks to Roka.
Thank you to PLD.
Thanks to Luke.
Thanks to Sam and MK.
Thanks to Smetzy for popping in.
This Jonathan.
Everybody in general for being here today.
So appreciate you.
We'll see you on the flip side.
Oh yeah, one last thing.
If you're going to be in New York on October 8th,
let's talk to Ellis.
I'm going to take him to my favorite pizza place.
He's coming in soon.
And then I'll be here with both Jen and Mark on October 8th.
So make sure you come and you check us out.
Thank you guys very much.
We'll see you on the flip side.
Bye, everybody.
Bye.
