Starting point is 00:00:33 to Chala. Obviously after losing the late great Chadwick Bozeman, it was a topic of conversation that kept coming up. They did a really lovely tribute to him in the second movie. So is it time
Starting point is 00:00:49 to recast if the story calls for it? Well, there's a new report that says they're going to do just that. Do we think that's the right move? We will discuss that. As far as casting goes, Matt Reeves, There's been a lot of talk about the Batman, too. He addressed a lot of those things with our buddy Josh Harwitz.
Starting point is 00:01:08 And Josh asked him about the DCU talk with Robert Pattinson. And it seems like the people are reporting that he's open to it. I read it a different way, man. But we'll discuss that also. There's other things out there, too. You know, we're talking about, I mentioned yesterday we did a list with Dan and Roka about some of the stuff that we loved and one of those movies was complete unknown. James Mangold, the director of that is doing a Star Wars movie and he talked about the freedom
Starting point is 00:01:38 that he has while making it. So there's a lot of different stories going on right now. So yeah, if you noticed, it's me by my lonesome. Roxy was supposed to do the show, but as you guys are probably fully aware of, there are major, major fires going on in Los Angeles right now, and it's affecting a lot of different people, even if it's not directly being in the vicinity. It's hurting power and other things, too. And Roxy is, we try to.
Starting point is 00:02:10 She just couldn't get here. So it's going to be me and you guys. Let's see if I can beat all of these people this week. So ask me as many questions as you like. Whatever the hell you want it, let's do one of those days. The two of us, just the two of us. all of us let's do it it is the christian harlough show here on wednesday are you ready mad hatter master let's do it welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the christian harlough show it's me that's my name
Starting point is 00:02:52 that's why i call it the christian harlough show uh we have a lot to talk about as i mentioned in the intro there i'm really um yeah obviously bum that roxy couldn't make it but i also want her to be safe. I want everybody to be safe. I've reaching out to a lot of our friends who are affected by this. So make sure that you throw in some love to them on Twitter and wherever you are doing your social media and connecting to the crew. Make sure everybody is okay. So, um, all right guys, listen, I was just going through right before I started here. I, and I told you guys that I was out, let well you guys know it was out for the three days and I tried to maintain this channel as much as I could and obviously Roka and Winston took over for those three days and I was able to put up like
Starting point is 00:03:40 I think a video here or there I was put up my top 10 I'm going to do an anticipated but I do left I got to get to my clips channel because that that was a little bit I got to the Sean gun clips so that was okay but my maintenance on my UAP channel UFO channel was was tough I didn't do for two weeks so I'm putting videos up there that's how happening now. So I'm trying to get everything back in order. So thank you for sticking with me and thank you for everybody for the last two days, really being part of the show and putting questions in there. I saw some people saying they signed up to some of the sponsors yesterday. So I cannot thank you enough for all the support that you continue to show us day and day. Thank you so much. And for those
Starting point is 00:04:23 people who have been watching the MCU reactions, it's been a lot of fun watching Sam watch these for the very first time and she's uh and i almost showed her a trailer for the next movie that we're about to watch and then we both said no we're not we haven't been doing i would just she's been going kind of flying blind and we're going to continue that we put up the reaction for iron man three yesterday um thor dark world will be up this friday and i think i might even get winter soldier up this saturday so or at least sunday so we're going to have we're trying to tape more of them so we can get at least two a week for you guys because people really been enjoying that series we've been enjoying making them and and Sam's just been such a great addition to the
Starting point is 00:05:03 channel in general so thank you to everybody who've been over there checking it out okay we're going to go with this one first guys Marvel Studios is rumored rumored I tell you to be recasting to Chala for the Avengers movies and Black Panther three okay so let's get into this topic here and Marvel Studios This is from comic book movie and Marvel Studios rumored to be recasting. According to a new rumor, Marvel Studios is planning to recast Tachala ahead of the upcoming Avengers movies and Black Panther 3. Five years after the death of Chadwick Bozeman, Marvel Studios,
Starting point is 00:05:46 may be planning to introduce a new take on Tchalla to the MCU. There was a lot of debate about how the studio may intend to proceed with the sequel to Black Panther following Bozeman's tragic passing back in August of 2020, and the decision was ultimately made to forge ahead with Wakanda forever and have another character take up the mantle. Tachala's little sister always seemed like the most obvious choice, and Shuri ended up honoring her late brother and mother by suiting up as Wakanda's new protector. While the majority of fans felt that this was the most respectful way to proceed, some hoped to see a new actor in the role of Tichala,
Starting point is 00:06:20 and it seemed Kevin Feigy and company now agree that enough time has passed. According to Jeff Schneider, Marvel is looking to recast its Black Panther hero, Tachala, ahead of the two Avengers movies and Ryan Cougar's Black Panther 3. We assume this would be a multiverse variant of the character, but there's speculation that it might not be the Tachala
Starting point is 00:06:42 and instead an older version of his son. Interesting. Wakanda Forever concluded with Shuri meeting her nephew, the son Tachala had with Nakia, and finally allowing her. herself to stop mourning her brother's death by burning her funeral robes. The original plans seem to be for the lad to succeed his late father by taking up the mantle of the Black Panther and possibly even ruling Wakanda as king.
Starting point is 00:07:06 The nature of the multiverse world would allow for a time jump, but it does sound more likely that Marvel plans to find a new actor to play a version of the same character that Bozeman played across the four MCU films. If this report is accurate, we can expect the trades to weigh in fairly soon. What do you make of the prospect of another actor stepping in? yada yada okay so this is interesting because i went to i mean i've had this conversation with a lot of different people and whether it's winston and coy and uh whoever i remember being at the the screening for black panther two and getting into conversations there about the potential
Starting point is 00:07:46 recasting and it's crazy that it has been five years already of the passing of chadreck bozeman um and i do think that they respect handled Black Panther 2. I think that it would have been a lot for people to handle had they recast so soon when they did that movie. So I think that was the right call at the time. I do think that you can do a new Black Panther. Now, I did think that there was potential that they were going to use his son.
Starting point is 00:08:17 And doing a time jump throughout the multiverse would make that make sense. But when you are playing with the multiverse, and the variance and all of that, we don't even know what timeline everybody's going to wind up in by the time we get to the next phase past the Avengers. Because if we're going to go with the X-Men and everybody else and they're basically introducing, I think, a new universe with Fantastic Four, that you could ultimately bring in a Black Panther,
Starting point is 00:08:51 a Tchala that from another universe, that is fighting with the Avengers and that will ultimately be your Tachala that you're that you're Black Panther right because the difference is what they used to be able to do back in the day I mean look at like Andrew Garfield Tobin McGuire and Tom Holland and the reason why is because they were making different Spider-Man movies at that point they were different they were they were different they're they're like oh well here that they're the here the different spider-men that could be in it in the same way that they did with with
Starting point is 00:09:19 Deadpool with with blade and it could be these different or just the Fox universe in general but there's a different variants that from other films you couldn't really do that in the MCU so you could essentially do that and then this black panther whoever is cast could be your tochala moving forward and having that character and having the i think the same type of way we're going to figure out how recognizable dr. doom's faces to everybody thinking it's Tony stark and some of you think that Tony Stark that it's a variant of Tony Stark. I don't think that is the case.
Starting point is 00:09:54 I think that it is that he's just Victor von Doom. But the idea of having Tchala and saying, you know, in your, I understand that in your world, I'm not here, whatever it might be. And he addresses it. And it's hard for them to kind of get over at first. And especially he looks different, whatever it might be. But I think this is the way to go. I understand that they're going to do it.
Starting point is 00:10:20 And I do think that enough time has passed that people will say, we get it. We understand now. I think that had they done it, like I said earlier, too soon, it might have been considered a little, and not sensitive, if that's the case. So what do you think? You think this is the right move? Do you think, no, they should have just made it to Chalas Sun. They already set that up in a way that they could have done it.
Starting point is 00:10:46 They could have a time jump. Why are they doing this? Or do you feel like, yeah, this is a. This is the way to do this. So I'm very curious to hear what you guys think about this overall. So make sure that you share your thoughts with me because I, like I said, it's me and you guys. It is me and you guys. So there's some other stories that we're going to discuss.
Starting point is 00:11:05 And, you know, I almost did last night, guys. And you got to thank my daughter for this one, although we didn't watch it. Some of you don't have to. We were, I don't know what happened. I said, I was checking the comments in the kitchen or something. And I was going over some stuff. I was doing some maintenance on my laptop. And my daughter saw one of the comments and she said,
Starting point is 00:11:22 there's someone asking me to watch Skellas and Kerr, whatever it was. And she's like, she was like, I'll watch it with you. And she's like, what is it? This is like a fun kid adventure thing. She's like, I want to watch that. And I said, it's Star Wars. She was like, I don't want to watch it. And I said, but it's just kids.
Starting point is 00:11:37 She goes, it's kids in Star Wars? I said, yeah. She's like, maybe I'll watch that with you. And then we didn't watch it. But the fact that she wants to watch it might actually get me to watch it. I don't know. We'll see. So why don't we stick in Star Wars Land then? Let's stick in Star Wars Land.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Let's talk about James Mangold, because then we'll get to the other one in the report of Batman in a little bit too, because that's a story that we almost led with today because I thought it was pretty interesting. I think people are reading that the wrong way. All right, here is the topic of Mr. James Mangold. I am excited for James Mangold's Star Wars movie.
Starting point is 00:12:17 I really am. I know it's a shame on me type thing because I was excited for his Indiana Jones and I don't think he got to make the movie that he wanted to watch or wanted to make, but nonetheless, he's doing a Star Wars movie and this is what he said about creative freedom coming here from Dark Horizons.
Starting point is 00:12:38 James Mangold talking about creative freedom and Star Wars, okay, in general. So he is promoting a complete unknown filmmaker, James Mangold, has once again briefly spoken about his, about his currently in the work Star Wars movie, a project that will serve as the ultimate prequel to the franchise.
Starting point is 00:12:57 It takes place some 25,000 years before the events of the original trilogy. Why that many years? I guess we'll figure that out. Dawn of the Jedi is expected to deal with the first users of the force in the very origins of the Jedi Order. House of Cards creator, Bo Williams,
Starting point is 00:13:12 is co-writing the script with Mangle. A mosaic in 2017, Star Wars, The Last Jedi indicated the founding of the Jedi order took place on the planet Ocktu, where Luke Skywalker went into hiding, where Ray found him, but otherwise, Mangold is relatively free to create whatever lore he wants. Speaking with movie web, Mangold says that by taking place in a past so distant and allows him quite a bit of freedom, as quote was, to me, the really important aspects are the freedom to make something new.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Bo and I in relation to Star Wars have been working on a script and we'll see what happens. Do we find a way on the page to say something original? the Star Wars movie would be taking place 25,000 years before any known Star Wars movie takes place. It's an area and a playground that I've always wanted to explore and that I was inspired by as a teenager. I'm not that interested in being handcuffed so much at this point that it's almost immovable that you can't please anybody. Just when Mangold will get to work on the film is a topic of much speculation right now. The first Star Wars film to hit cinemas this decade in May will be when the Mandalorian and Grogu.
Starting point is 00:14:17 There are multiple Star Wars films in development from a range of filmmakers. Okay, so I think that what he's saying right here, what we've always said and what is, I think, very, very, very true, is that we are going to get a movie 25,000 years that does not handcuff you, as he's at. You don't have people going, well, that's not the way so-and-so whatever. act, well, that's not the way the Jedi were then. Well, that's not the way when this, well, that's not that you can't say that. Because this is 25,000 years before. One of the things that you might hear are the same type of things that you're hearing with Dune being 10,000 years, that if all the technology is the same and all the things kind of
Starting point is 00:15:03 look the same, then they did from 25,000 years to, you know, episode four, episode one or whatever, 25,000 years lines up to. That's an issue, you know? That's an issue overall of saying, hey, Um Hold on a second Roxy's trying to call me on I guess oh but I'm
Starting point is 00:15:25 It's just hard to do right now You want to, should we call Roxy real quick And see how she's doing Put her on the phone And then we can do that Let's do a quick phone call And see how she's doing We'll call Roxy
Starting point is 00:15:36 And then As Roxy was trying to text me So we'll call her real quick And then we'll get back to this story Because I think we should See how she's doing Man, it is nuts so here. I know, that's what I assumed.
Starting point is 00:15:58 I told the audience that you were out, obviously. I know, I've been listening because I have, I still have cell service, even though I have no Wi-Fi or electricity. You have self-service and FOMO. And huge FOMO. Man, this is, I think you got out at the right time. I saw a video of the Palisades being in really bad shape right now. and I you know I reached out to our mutual friend Andrew Freed who lives out there and I was checking he's he's safe
Starting point is 00:16:29 so I don't know I didn't want to dive into how everything else was for him but his family saved and that's that that was the most important seems like everybody is is safe out there but it's just it's pretty it's did they say how it started no well that right now there are four fires currently there's the one in Altadena there is one in Sherman Oaks There's the one in the Palisades, and there's a fourth fire somewhere. And I don't think that they've released how any of them started, but all it takes is something small, and these widths go crazy.
Starting point is 00:17:04 That it's just picking me by us. Christian, I walked outside because I have to get to my grandparents, and I'm covered in black soot from, obviously I'm on the west side, but I'm not that close to the fires. I still am a mile outside of the Evac area. and I'm covered. Like my car, I watched it two days ago. You wouldn't even recognize that the color of my car
Starting point is 00:17:29 because it's just, it is so, so insane over here and nobody has power, so everybody's trying to charge their phones and their cars. It's just gotten completely nutty. A couple of people have been found not alive anymore. So, you know, it's just, I really, I have never envied your move to. the East Coast more than during this.
Starting point is 00:17:53 We asked for it to be warm here, not for it to be on fire. Yeah, that's, I mean, that is, yeah, I felt, I mean, obviously I've been there where the fires were really bad, but this seems like, it seems like kind of like next level. It's 10 times worse. I mean, it's like, yeah, we've had fires, of course, but usually they're kind of restricted to Malibu, and unfortunately there's property damage, but nothing else. This is like nothing you've ever seen. And any time I, or nothing I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:18:21 And any time you try to drive one direction, the sky is lit up in four different directions. Yeah, I saw a lot of the pictures. I mean, the only good news I can give you, which is probably like a, just put like a grin on your face, if anything else, is that Severance season two is getting very good reviews. Oh, that does make me very happy. What do we have one more week until we can see it? I think so, yeah. Wow, yeah, I'm really excited for that one. I also think that the Jerry Springer doc dropped last night.
Starting point is 00:18:51 company if I still remained out of cell service. Well, all right. Well, stay safe and I'm glad that you were able to call in. And we'll, I can't believe you're alone for the show. This is like driving me nuts. But you would have been so exhausted of my internet. No, I understand.
Starting point is 00:19:07 And I don't want you, I don't want you focusing on that right now. You got to focus on your, on your family and everything else, too. So we'll get you back in here next week and the, the audience understands. Okay. Much love to the audience and to you, and to you, and I'll talk to you soon. Bye, rocks. great roxy striker but yes she's just a consummate pro she she's doing good though yeah so i'm glad people are checking in on her so um she is the best and she's her and we've found kind of various
Starting point is 00:19:33 ways it's funny we find more ways to work with each other um while i'm in new york than we did when i was in l a so she's going to be back next week hopefully fingers crossed we'll get roxy's tv picks for you guys next week and i'm sure she had some thoughts on the other stories too but i don't want to keep her on the phone right now she's doing her thing so james mangle we go back to that and we discuss what was going on um 25 000 years before and as i mentioned with dune that's that's that's kind of my concern right it's like is it going to be well it doesn't seem like because he's talking about well you're so far removed from it but there is something you get you have to establish it's like what is the difference 25 000 years
Starting point is 00:20:14 you know because even if it was a thousand years or even 500 years i guess um You could make it a little bit closer to the technology, but 25,000 years and you're doing the discovery of the force and the discovery of the Jedi Order and all that. What I hope happens inside this because, look, I love James Mangold. I love James Mangold. I didn't dislike the last Indiana Jones movie as much as everybody else did. I think that there's a lot of great stuff in there. I feel like that Harrison Ford actually returned to the role of Indiana Jones. I think he was basically playing Harrison Ford in the Crystal Skull.
Starting point is 00:20:45 and I think despite what PLD and PJ say that movie stinks to high heaven, it is one of the worst, it is a piece of trash, PJ. It's a piece of absolute filth, that movie. But I love you anyway. Anyway, the point is that there was a lot of stuff happening in that movie should not, the last movie, as much as I thought there were some good things that he did return as Indiana Jones. It was a big budget, $300 million movie that should,
Starting point is 00:21:15 not have been. It should have been a smaller type of story that focused on Indiana Jones in his last quest. I love the stuff that the dilemma he was going through with Marion and the thing that had happened with with Mutt and all that. But I just think that it was just handled not well overall. And I don't know that was studio notes, whatever it was. James Mangold followed it up with a complete unknown, which landed at like number two on my list of the top 10 of the year. Love James Mangold. He does that. Sometimes he's going, well, that woman was fine and then he did he was like i think the wolverine was like well that one was fine and then he hit you with logan or he hit you with ford versus Ferrari he's he's great he's great so i just hope that
Starting point is 00:21:57 this is one of those ones are like okay that's why you bring james mangold in like i like it when he's got a little bit more kind of bare bone stuff to work with because logan even though it's you know probably cost a fair amount it seemed kind of a little bit more bare bones it seemed a little bit more of that type of, you know, feel. It didn't feel like a big studio blockbuster movie. It felt small. Smell it, if it felt independent. That's what I want this one to feel like. And I know it's Star Wars. It's hard to do. But I really would love to see that. And I want to see how he establishes it. Because what's so important about this particular film is that if it hits, and similar to what we were talking about with this Knights of the O'Rour,
Starting point is 00:22:41 Republic. Now what I hope, let's say the Knights of Republic TV show is indeed, let's say that was true. And let's say that they actually go forward with that. You cannot go forward with that series without collaborating with James Mangold to say, okay, what are you setting up 25,000 years from? Because from what I remember, well, they could always change it. Let's say that the Knights of the Republic takes place. I think it's 5,000 years before episode one is what it was. So let's say it's 5,000 years. So that essentially would be then whatever it is, 20,000 years later.
Starting point is 00:23:22 So if you're establishing things from Mangold's world, what I would like to see them do is Mangold does one to three films. You set up films that are tied into that area that's also tied into TV shows that eventually leads to the formation of the old republic and you start telling a linear story that way you can get rid of all this other stuff the stuff that wasn't working out you don't need to tie back to the Skywalker saga and all that stuff anymore we've done that we've been there we've had some fun there stay there in the old republic and start to build out and eventually lead back to where we where we are we don't need all these things to the mandolorean and grogoo anymore we don't need the the
Starting point is 00:24:04 race stuff we don't need all this other stuff anymore could you make good movies out of them? Of course you could. Of course you could. But play in this world, establish this thing. You're so far, as James Mangled said, you're so far removed from anybody going, well, wait, I'm at it. The only thing when it comes to Knights or Republic is you're definitely going to have people, the video games going, hold on a second. That character was so much better when it was like this. I mean, that's inevitable. You're going to have that. But I just think you can establish so much. You can establish so much if you do it this particular way. So I don't know if they're going to do it. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:38 how they would do it, but I'm glad that Mangold is approaching it this way. But what do you guys think about the comments that were made? Whether you're watching live, whether you're throwing in a super chat there, whether you're watching it on the replay, give me your thought. Tell me what you think.

Starting point is 00:31:22 in a comedy series for Nobody Wants This. The Guild last Tuesday, excuse me, the Guild late Tuesday night, canceled Wednesday's live in-person announcement due to the wildfires, but it still shared a press. release with this year's nominations on Wednesday morning. Along with the Wednesday's announcement, the Guild showed a statement of the devastating fires. All right, there's more stuff, and there's more nominations. You can read all the nominations. Obviously, you want to go check that out. So, you know what's interesting is after speaking to Roka about this, about the Golden Globes, and I think a lot of times sometimes people think that
Starting point is 00:32:51 golden globes mean, well, it looks like you're pretty much going to be a show-in for the Oscar. And I think Roka's point to the reason Amelia Perez was because the, you know, it's a foreign press event, the Golden Globe. So does that necessarily mean that they're going to clean up at SAC? Now, if they do clean up at SAC or the Critics' Choice Awards, then I think that's a little bit more telling of all three of them. They hit boom, boom, boom.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Then it's like, oh, wait a minute. Then it might have a big shot here. But I don't know. It doesn't feel like that. It feels like it's going to be one of those bounce back and forth. I wonder, right? And I wonder if that's going to be because Zoe wins for The Golden Globe, I wonder who, because Wicked was essentially minus the box office,
Starting point is 00:33:37 was kind of shut out of the Golden Globes. I feel like the SAG Awards is a place that they would shine. I feel like that is an actor's movie. I feel it's like a theater kids movie also. And I feel like people really enjoy that. It was more of a, I think it would also say something about more mainstream movies, if they did. I think they need to win a few. I think more mainstream movies need to start winning more.
Starting point is 00:34:01 I'd like to see it go back to if you're going to gear these awards towards the, if you want people to actually watch your award shows, let's get some of the, let's get some of these films that people are actually seeing to be nominated also. I'm taking away from the quality of the other ones. But, and look, Amelia Perez, by the way, is reaching a very large audience on Netflix. It's on Netflix. and people are probably
Starting point is 00:34:30 I would like to see the love to see the ratings on it like to see how many people actually saw it but it's getting out to a wide audience it's just a different world it's a different business so anyway what do you guys think about the nominations
Starting point is 00:34:44 you like these nominations do you not like these nominations what say you guys yesterday Roka myself and Dan we hit like what was it one I'm going to find out I did a screenshot of it I think it was like 100 uh 107 i think it was yesterday oh no it was 110 right is that true i'm gonna double check
Starting point is 00:35:03 i'd like to beat them i never i've never i've never done that by myself beat the whole crew one day and all you guys got to do is ask me whatever the hell you want to ask me so maybe we can do that today or maybe you can say no we're waiting for because because i know steff's on tomorrow so that's probably what's going to happen is stephen and mike are on tomorrow so that's where it's going to go nuts yesterday was 110 110 you said it was yesterday um anyway i do want to know your thoughts on all that stuff guys so please let me know i i want to know if you care about the um the awards do you care about the do you think that it's going to be amelia prez kind of doing the same thing they did it at golden globes or you think it's going to it's going to be more so of
Starting point is 00:35:48 wicked or other other movies that are going to it's going to be kind of split that's where i feel like it's going. I think it's going to be split. Okay, I've been teasing this story, so it's time to get to this story, and that, of course, is the Matt Reeves comments on the Batman. Speaking of the Golden Globes, our buddy Josh Horowitz, who I've, look, I've known Josh now for quite a bit, but I've been working with them a little bit more over the course of the last two years, and he is one of my favorite people. He really is a very good person. Hard worker man, very hard worker, and he's become a good friend. So I'm really glad to see that when he does this stuff, like that it gets picked up the way that it should.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Anyway, so this is from this dark horizon covering this, but increasingly there seems to be a push for Matt Reeves of Batman films to be incorporated into James Gunn and Peter Safron's new DCU universe, despite both being considered quite separate for the moment. Plans were announced several years ago for a Batman featured titled The Brave and the Bold, a film that would be within the DCU
Starting point is 00:36:48 and entirely separate from Reeves' films, which are their own universe, giving the filmmaker the freedom to do, what he wants. But with the brave seemingly delayed, there's been questions if Gunn would want Reeves the Batman franchise to integrate with the DCU. In an interview with Josh Harwitz for the Golden Globes, Reeves was asked about the possibility, and it seems like he's open to the idea if that makes sense. He said it really comes down to whether or not it makes sense. What the future brings, I really can't tell you. I have no idea right now. I don't know. We have to see where that goes.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Gun has previously said multiple times, a Batman is an Elseworld's franchise, and outside of the current DCU continuity, there's also the issue of Robert Pattinson who potentially has no interest in being part of a larger universe of heroes. Reeves was also asked about the villain in the film sequel and whether it could be surprising. He said, I hope so, I think so.
Starting point is 00:37:33 And then he adds that every now and then he looks up the online rumors of villain speculation in whom people are guessing for the movie. There's a lot of things in there. There's one thing that I don't necessarily agree with. And I said this to Dan and John, I think, yesterday. I didn't read that he was open to it. You know, the reports have been that he has been hesitant is what the reports have been.
Starting point is 00:38:00 That's what I read or read it when I heard him talking to Josh. He was like, you know, we'll see if it makes sense. And it's, you can see them having the conversation where James is like, look, we're thinking more and more how we can do this. And he's going, how does it make sense? How can we do it? We've kind of done the same thing Nolan did. based in kind of more realism and we're kind of going with that Fincher tone. And then you got, you know, Guy Gardner and his weird herdo over here and you got a super dog.
Starting point is 00:38:28 And how does that work in my world? Like, I don't know how that makes sense, but, you know, I'm open to listening to it. That's the kind of vibe I got in that interview. I didn't get, though, yeah, you know, I'm up for it. Now, the other thing that they said in this was that they also didn't pay attention to the other Josh Harwitz interview, which he mentions in this interview. And he said, when I spoke to James Gunn about it, He was the one. That's how he kind of led into it. So he said, James Gunn was open for it.
Starting point is 00:38:53 He did say else worlds at first, but he doesn't been saying that as much anymore. He's like, you know, I've considered everything, Josh, is what he said to Josh Harowitz last time. He said, I've considered everything when it come to Reeves. I think what's happening is because of the delays and everything else. And instead of putting out two different Batman's, I think the conversations started with the higher-ups, you know, inside of the executive branch at Warner Brothers. and then the conversations then started with James Gunn. I bet you James Gunn's been kind of swayed a little bit more on that side to try to make it work, especially after the success of the penguin.
Starting point is 00:39:26 And I don't think Reeves wants any part of it. I don't think Reeves wants to do a brave and the bold thing. And that's where it would have to make sense, as he said. How does that play into the third movie? Is he going to be forced to, you know, turn that third movie into a DCU movie? If that is the case, then you can understand his hesitation of going, I don't really want to do that. that's not really what I signed up for the Patinson part of it from what the
Starting point is 00:39:51 reports are that he wants to join that's that's the no again rumors rumors rumors rumors but for him yeah he gets to play the character more he gets to do it more be part of the DCU and be part of James Gunnstein I think I think the Patinson part is I think he would want to do it I don't think he's one of these actors like I'm not doing more movies than that I'm quiet of I don't I don't feel like he's gonna do that I feel like he'd want to be part of it and I think he'd want to work with James Gunn. I think it's Reeves. And I don't think it's one of these things. It's like, come on, Reeves, get your shit together and make it work. I think Reeves, if he's got
Starting point is 00:40:26 concerns, I think they're probably pretty damn valid. And I think that there's a lot more to, I mean, he said he's, they're recording, they're shooting it like this year, I think he said, right? So the fact that we're still not getting it until God knows when, I think there's a lot more to this story. I really do. I think there's so much more to this story overall about why he is not, why the movies are getting delayed why Andy Muscietti has no idea and he made any muscietti at one point said I you know that's that's that's been delayed has been pushed back so I don't know what I'm doing right now then James Gunn's like no it hasn't been pushed back so they're not even communicating that well or if they are
Starting point is 00:41:01 they're not saying the same thing because I do think that they really want to incorporate this because usually what James Gunn does is he shoots down shit quick real quick so if and this story has been pretty big about how they want to to incorporate this into the DCU. I ain't seen no tweets about James Gunn saying, no, not the case. We don't want to do DCU. It's a separate universe. He hasn't said that.
Starting point is 00:41:28 And this interview, what I will say is that what I did read from it was I, I'm actually surprised that so many outlets, dark horizons, everybody else said like seems like Reeves open to it. It seems like the exact opposite to me. It seems like, yeah, the way that I read it, and I could be making this up, but the way that I read it is kind of like yeah listen they're talking to me about it I'm not thrilled about the idea I'm listening but I don't know if it makes sense right now they're going to really have to convince me because I don't see it happening in my world they want it to happen
Starting point is 00:42:02 they're trying to figure out ways for it to happen but I don't know that's the way I read that now I could be way off but I didn't read it as like yeah you know it makes sense I can make it work that's the way that these articles are are making it seem like and he did not say that. At least I didn't read that at all. What do you guys think? How did you read these comments? Did you think that this is something that, you know, Reeves is actually going to be up for? Or do you think that I'm way off? I mean, I guess that's, that's the first part of it. Do you think that he's actually up for it and I'm way off? Or do you think that I'm on, I'm more on target where like, he doesn't want to do this. And a lot of people, including myself, I'm still curious
Starting point is 00:42:39 how they're going to make it work. Because the Superman trailer tone looks significantly different than the penguin tone. Um, how do you? Um, how? do you make those worlds collide? Could you? Sure. But how do you make them collide? How do you make the peacemaker world collide with the Batman world? You can make you, you know, collide with the DCU world. So there's a lot, man. There is a lot of stuff. And this story is continuously. It's developing, as they say. I mentioned to Roxy. Severance was a show that she kept pushing me to see. She kept saying, you got to watch this show, you got to watch this show. And I told
Starting point is 00:43:19 her, I said, I tried, and this is a dude walking in the hallway, and I bailed. And then I said, I got to stop this. I got to watch it. And I loved it. I absolutely loved the show. It was one of my favorite shows of that year, and I was waiting for season two to come out. Well, it looks like it's coming out. And not only is it coming out,
Starting point is 00:43:35 it's getting great reviews. Stunning is what they say here in Dark Horizon. Apple TV is set to premiere the second season of the acclaimed sci-fi psychological thriller, Severance, in a little over a week. And today, the reviews have gone up. The first season, cut it out.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Cut it out, I say. Stop this. The first season received 14 nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and Acting Nominations for many of its stars. Thus, the new season had high hopes. Where am I? Hey, there I am. The first season at high hopes.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Now it's 40 reviews in thus far. second season has pulled in a perfect 100% and a stunning nine out of 10 average rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The score stands at a stellar 85 out of 100 on Metacritic for 20 reviews. Both cases, it scored higher than the first season by several points. Here's a sample of the reviews. Whatever the destination severance is aiming for, the journey dramatizes the arbitrary rules and the compartmentalized nature of modern work better than anything else on air.
Starting point is 00:44:44 It's from Alison Herman. From Kristen Baldwin, season two, severance forces both its characters and its viewers to confront our ugly tendency to assess another's worth based primarily on how that person needs and desires align with our own. It's hard not to love a show, this beautiful and human, one that dives into both existential dilemmas and wakadoo dance breaks depending on its mood. Liz Shannon Miller, former Shmowdown competitor. It makes for a season that's free.
Starting point is 00:45:14 frequently darker, less frequently amusing, and not necessarily more satisfying, but one that hits. If anything, even more chillingly close to home. Anybody else here that we know? I don't know. Is there one more? No, it doesn't matter. They all love it. Which is great.
Starting point is 00:45:32 I'm excited for this show. I actually really liked Severance a lot. So the fact that season two is getting, I mean, you're getting me excited. I don't know about you guys. I love that damn apple. They got some good shit going on. Dark matter. That one.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Tons of time. I got to watch. Like I said, if I don't watch the show with my wife in time, I kind of lose it. I wanted to see Presumed Innocent. I heard that was really good too. And I didn't get a chance to see it. So I'm really pumped, I should say, about that.
Starting point is 00:46:04 It's going to be a damn good show. And I love that. They got perfect score. I mean, that's like, that's like raving. People are raving on that. It's awesome. So any stories? you know what I got one I wanted to talk to Roxy about this one because we discussed it last time
Starting point is 00:46:20 but you remember where they said that um there was going to be that American Psycho remake apparently there is no remake that's the new story apparently there was a horse poop as they call it in some parts of town that's right they said there's no American Psycho remake in recent months have come trade reports that Challengers and Queer Film Director, Luke, has been circling to direct a new adaptation of author Brett Easton's, Brad Easton Ellis' infamous American Psycho. Several stories have emerged that Austin Butler was rumored to star as the lead character, taking on a role made famous by Christian Bale.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Now, though, Ellis has shot down those reports, claiming they're all a complete fabrication, and he's not involved in any way. Speaking on his podcast, he says, I have a feeling it's fake news. I heard somewhere from someone. There are no contracts. Austin Butler hasn't signed anything to play Patrick Bainman.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Luca hasn't done a deal. Scott Burns, who is supposed to write the screenplay, doesn't have a deal either. From various sources that I have, it's just fake news that was put out there to see how an audience is going to react. If it does exist, I'm not involved. I have nothing to do with this.
Starting point is 00:47:32 I might get some money if they do this, but I am not involved creatively on any level, and that is all I know. The book centers, you know, Yeah, we know with the book center. Anyway, so it is one of those things where, as he says, a story that could potentially try to gain some interest, right? That happens all the time.
Starting point is 00:47:53 And it does. It absolutely does. Like, you know, there's times that agents will put out that the fact that their client went out and they leak the fact that the client went out for a role because they want people to start buzzing. Oh, we love this idea. We love that to get into the studios a year in the same way that this. potentially happen. It doesn't seem like any deals are made. It doesn't mean that they have
Starting point is 00:48:13 conversations, but it seems like it's like it's horse poop. And I think that there's more, the reason I wanted to talk about this story in general was just because like this kind of shit happens all the time where you see stuff that is reported and you got to take a lot of this stuff with a grain of salt because it doesn't mean that these conversations aren't happening. It just means that there's no deal in place at the moment. So until it's like finalized, the studio announces it. they start filming or there's going to be a trailer. Just take it as it comes.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Anyway, I ask you guys, what do you think? Put your thoughts in there about all this and more. If I missed any stories of anything you guys really wanted to talk about today, I'm going through the questions right now. So if there's a topic you want to hear my opinion on, my thoughts on. Go ahead and throw it in there now and let's get to it. As I said, I would love to beat Dan and Roka by my lonesome. In fact, if I could do that, I'd have bragging rights to say, hey, I did
Starting point is 00:49:16 it without you guys. How about that? One time all by myself, but maybe you guys don't want to do that, which is fine. Okay, let's get into the questions that you did ask. We're starting right now. We got over 25 questions just to start. I like those. I like those odds. We're going to start with our good buddy, Roman Fedorach. Hello, Roman. Roman is, the amount of times that Roman that started off the show has been just wonderful. Thank you, Roman. Hey guys, I hope everyone and their family is doing well and staying safe. Heart is going out to everyone in L.A. right now being affected by the fires. Yeah, it's rough. It's funny because my wife was really the first one to bring it to my attention. And she told me to, as I mentioned to you, Andrew Fried,
Starting point is 00:49:59 is a very close friend of mine. It's been on the show before. But he lives very close to where the fires are being affected the most. So she's like, you better reach out to Andrew, and I did, and thank God, he's doing okay. But everybody else out there, please stay safe, and I got to check up on a whole bunch of people today. So next question, A-Sol. A-Sol! Hey, A-Sole! To Comerate their new season, League of Legends, released a new cinematic called Welcome to Noxys on YouTube, and it serves as a sneak peek for what's to come in the Arcane sequel series.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Highly recommend. Oh, I like that. I got to check that out. I highly recommend the fact that you told me that. It's amazing. I wonder if my daughter has found it. I'm sure she has. I got to check that out.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Thank you for letting me know. I love me and I love Arcane. So great. Mike Joyce, did you see the story of Lisa Kudrow and Friends Cookie Jar? No, what's that? Should I look that up? Lisa Kudrow, Friends Cookie Jar.
Starting point is 00:51:04 What the hell is that? Oh, Lisa Kudra, let's say, okay, let's check that out. All right, thank you. See, this is what I mean. You guys want me to, I'm by myself today, so if you guys want me to check out some stories that I have to deem worthy, throw them in there. Here's one that Mike Joyce just talked about,
Starting point is 00:51:21 and let's do it. All right, Lisa Kudrow discovered a hidden note from Matthew Perry in a gift that he gave her. The Friends Alam reveals that Matthew Perry left a note for her in the notable cookie time prom. Lisa Kudra revealed that she recently discovered a hidden gift from Matthew Perry, a note from her late friend and co-star that was left for her and iconic friend's prop, appearing on an episode of the Drew Barrymore show that aired Tuesday,
Starting point is 00:51:46 Kudra shared that Perry gifted the cookie time cookie jar to her on the final day of filming for the 10-season sitcom. When asked whether she'd stolen anything from the set, Kudra admitted, yes, but I'm too afraid to tell you what. I'm too, I can't say, I'm afraid. Someone will come take it away and they're going to take it away from me. Barrymore joked, I don't know why. I just got that it was the cookie. key time jar and kudrow clarified no matthew gave to that to me at the end of our last episode referencing the notable prop that matthew perry had taken from the set so i recently found the note that he had in for me i hadn't opened it up and it looked inside but yeah he did he had a note in there and i forgot about it though the no good deed star did not reveal the comments of the note the discovery brought back
Starting point is 00:52:27 found memories of her fond memories of her time with perry kudrow recounted the inside joke behind the gift, a moment born after filming a scene for friends. She shared the story in a 2020 episode of Jimmy Kimmel line. She said, my line was, oh, I'm late. I better get going. And it was too late when I realized I don't have a watch. She told Kimmel as the words are coming out, I went, oh, good, there's a clock. And I gestured to that and said, oh, look at the time. Perry approached her afterwards and said, did you point to the cookie jar and say, look at the time? And she said, the playful moment encapsulates the humor and camaraderie that defend their time on the show, something that Kudra will always remember following Perry's death on October 8th, 28th, 20th,
Starting point is 00:53:04 23. Yeah, that's a, that's a heartwarming story. It's nice that she was able to find a note and have a little bit of a kind of smile and probably a nice cry when she found that. So thank you, Mike. Thanks for sharing that story. That was nice. So I didn't know. I didn't know that just happened on the Jew Barrymore Show. Simon's section, part one. All I'm saying is if they do recast to Chala and he happens to be a variant from different multiverse, can we please have some steaks, french fries, some mint sauce and vanilla Coke float anything to tell the MCU fans um i guess there's a continuation that they can keep doing this all the time they did it with black widow on the what if series also i think that john david washington should play him like the late great cb once said there would be no black uh the chad bowman once said there would be no black panther without until washington um that would be pretty great if they did especially consider that, you know, his dad's going to be in the movie, the new Black Panther 3. So that would be pretty good if they did that.
Starting point is 00:54:10 I'd be up for that casting. He's pretty, he's damn solid. Roman Fedorik, this questions to Rox. Obviously, Roman just, we'll try to get her to, I'll remember it for next week. We'll get her to answer to any 2024 film hot takes, keep being awesome. Roxy, if you're listening to this right now, if you're still listening, once you text me the answer to that question, he's asking if you have any 2024 hot takes. Please be, keep being awesome.
Starting point is 00:54:34 If she's listening, she will text me. If not, we'll get her to do it next week. All right. Thank you guys again. We're 28 questions. I love that. Thank you so much. Dennis Hoffman.
Starting point is 00:54:43 Christian, any dead Star Wars projects that you heard about that you could share? Seems you knew about the del Toro Goya Jabba movie way back when. Yeah, man, I did. It's funny, too, which is hilarious, is that the trades never, you know, post my stuff. Because, yeah, I knew about that one a long damn time ago. I told you about the Lost Stars thing that they said, hey, no, not going to happen. The James Mangold thing was the Benioff and Weiss thing. That's why it's like they were the first ones to come up.
Starting point is 00:55:17 That's why when they say like it's an original take by Mangold, that's why Horowitz actually asked Benioff and Weiss, and they didn't really have much of an answer to it, except like just awkward faces. But like that was their movie, was they were going to do the start of the force and the start of the Jedi and all that. that stuff and then i guess they had that project there it was it's their project it's star wars um so they probably then said hey james we have this idea that we want to do but beniof and we're going to do that
Starting point is 00:55:42 one first um other ones yeah i mean i'd heard about the knights of a republic thing but then it just kind of went away um the calcestis one from what i heard recently is the calcestis the show itself wasn't necessarily going to go but he they still want to use him in live action so that's that's That's kind of the stuff that I had heard. All right. Next one. Gabe Oliver, what's up, Gabe? What were your thoughts on the first Netflix raw?
Starting point is 00:56:10 Missing Austin on the show? Wonder FESB for Triple H. Hulk Hogan, yikes. I mean, hard to, unfortunately. Look, I thought the whole show was really good. I thought they treated it like a pay-per-view or what do they call it? Now, PLE. I thought that they had great energy in that building.
Starting point is 00:56:23 I thought the matches are pretty solid. They were predictable, but as Roke and I talked about, predictable is not always a bad thing. It's like if it's the satisfying thing that people want, predictable is fine. Like Ria Ripley, winning. Like, everybody knew that was going to happen. I wanted to see Liv win and go over,
Starting point is 00:56:37 but I think that we've had enough time in between that feud that you've got to move on and I get it. And it was a really good show. I think that what happens in a lot of times is even though you have a really great show, you get this one moment that people are talking about and it is the Hulk Hogan getting booed out of the building moment. he got unmercifully booed.
Starting point is 00:57:00 And I think it was so much a culmination of a lot of different things. Because I even asked yesterday, he was like, do I think that it is all about his politics in Los Angeles? It certainly had something to do with it. But then the argument could also be made. Well, the Undertaker showed up. He's got the same politics. But he also hasn't said some of the heinous shit that Hogan has said over the course of the years.
Starting point is 00:57:25 and not even just like the racist shit. He's just not known to be, he's known to be very selfish, is what a lot of wrestlers and other people have talked about. So I think people have had enough of them. I think people have had enough. It was sad to see, because you cannot take away from the impact
Starting point is 00:57:46 that he had on wrestling. He's the reason, him and Vince was also someone that would probably get booed out of the building, Um, they, they changed it forever. There's a reason why they were able to do what they did is because of those two guys. I mean, there's no doubt about it. You got to give, you give them their, their props for that. Um, and as far as Austin goes, I think Austin, Austin looks for money, man,
Starting point is 00:58:11 because he was the same reason they couldn't get a deal with him for WrestleMania. Like the undertaker showing up was weird at WrestleMania. It had nothing to do with it. Austin should have been the guy to show up against the rock, but they couldn't, it was the money. They couldn't. They couldn't settle on a deal. Austin definitely should have been there.
Starting point is 00:58:30 But I think Austin looks for a little bit too much money sometimes with it. Or what do I know? Maybe that's not true. Maybe he asked for exactly what he's worth. And they're like, we just don't want to pay that right now. We don't necessarily need you right now. I think Brett Hart could have been interesting to have, though. But I like that.
Starting point is 00:58:48 I like the show a lot. I thought it was a good show. Crystal, DW fan, Winter Soldier on Saturday. let's go yeah listen this is my I called Sam because what I wanted to do and I and I give props to both Greg Alba and Luke from Galaxy Geeks on this one both of those guys pushed me very very hard to do movie reactions on this channel um and it was for a while and I was going to do it when I was still in LA and then I eventually said okay I'm going to do it here but I want to bring people in that haven't really seen a lot of these movies um and so I thought of
Starting point is 00:59:24 a few people, my friend Tina, who you've seen on the show, my wife, my friend Alex, who she hasn't been able to do it. I want to try to get Alex to do it. But then Sam, Sam was one of the ones that I really said, okay, I think Sam would be great at this. She's got a great personality. She's hilarious. She's just, and she's a really good person, right? So I got her involved in it, and I was right. The audience really responded to her, and I was elated when I heard she had never seen an MCU movie and I went oh my god this could be us we could do this for a long time and that's exactly what we've been doing but what was happening was that sam's schedule was is tough because sam you know sam's a mom she's great mom she's got a very she's got all of our kids are very talented but she's got
Starting point is 01:00:09 she's got a daughter's playing basketball and she's like a superstar and she's been going she's got to go to these games got to balance a whole bunch of different things so we've been trying to find time to do them and then i said well look i want to make sure that this works so i was like okay so sam and i kind of came to an agreement we're going to to try to do at least shooting, shooting, not necessarily releasing, but shooting at least three a week. So my goal is we catch up at time is to do two to three releasing a week. We're trying to catch up. So that's the goal is to get, we got Thor, not Thor, we got Iron Man 3 that's up there now, Thor Dark World should be releasing on Friday. And then my goal is to get Winter Soldier out
Starting point is 01:00:48 on either Saturday or Sunday. And yeah, we're recording Winter Soldier today, potentially recording Guardians tomorrow and then Ultron on Friday. That's the goal. That's the goal. So we're working on. And then we're going to try to...
Starting point is 01:01:05 Then I want to get Tina in to do some other movies. And, yeah, so we'll see how it plays out. Because there's certain things that you got... I thought people were going to watch the Sonic reaction. Nobody gave a shit about that one. It didn't even hit 10,000 views. Um, Levi R picks for Tachala, number one is Aldous Hodge, Dravante Rhodes, Jesse Usher, and John David Washington.
Starting point is 01:01:27 I do not want to see John Boyega. Interesting. Is it because he's just too locked into Star Wars now? Is that why? I would like to see John Boyega. I'd like to see him shine a little bit more and give him something to do. Um, but I like the John, I think John Boyega is a better actor than John David, Washington personally. Um, but.
Starting point is 01:01:48 All those are great choices. All those are great choices. All right, Mike Joyce. Skeleton crew was great last night. Jude Law. Hey, man, I hear good things. It's so funny, I had a friend reach out to me and ask me if I wanted to go to a screening, screening of the finale.
Starting point is 01:02:03 And I said, I don't watch the show. And he said, who is this? You don't watching a Star Wars show? I'm like, yeah, I just, I don't care. He couldn't believe it. EWalk. I finally watched Wicked. Ariana Grande is so good and she definitely win the Oscar.
Starting point is 01:02:17 We'd love to hear her play Zelda. in the live action Zelda film. Zelda? Oh yeah, yeah. That makes sense, not Link. Okay. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:26 So I told you. Ariana Grande won me over. I mean, not necessarily won me over. I didn't have any opinion really on her except. I was like, oh, she's a singer that's popular in his way past what I do. I don't pay attention to what she does.
Starting point is 01:02:40 I've seen her on, I know that she was on Saturday Live. Obviously, the high profile relationship, she had with Pete Davidson. I knew her from that stuff. I was like, I didn't, when I'd give my, review and talked about her comedy was like how do you not know that she was a Nickelode and she was so funny
Starting point is 01:02:52 i didn't watch that shit and her comedy chops are fantastic she just has such great timing and i got to say something here's a hot take people ask hot takes my hot take i think she's better than christin chenewit that's my hot take i've seen the footage i've seen other things i've seen stuff i think she's better i listen i listen to the music I think she's better. I know. I know. But that's just my thought. That's my, that's my, that's my hot take, I guess, on it.
Starting point is 01:03:24 Wicked, wicked officinados will yell at me, but that's fine. But yeah, I think she should definitely be nominated. I don't know about winning, but she should definitely get nominated. She was great. Crystal, back again. Thank you, Crystal. To everyone in California area, please be safe. Yes, please be safe.
Starting point is 01:03:40 And for all my friends who are, I'm going to, again, reach out and see how everybody's doing. We're at 31. Keep us going here. Keep us on the ear. I want to say, I love talking to you guys and whatever you want to talk about. And again, I love the variety that we've already got so far. Shane Adams, I respect the decision for Wakanda forever, not to recast, but I think it's time to continue to Chal's story.
Starting point is 01:04:03 And it looks like if the report is true, they feel the same way. And I feel like the, I feel like it is, I feel like the report is true. And I think it makes sense. I do think it makes sense. Okay. Let's see. Let's get to the next one. And the next question again, thank you guys for all the wonderful, wonderful questions so far and for the support here today. EWalk, Boyd Holbrook shows up in almost every James Mangold film. What kind of character would you like to see him play in the
Starting point is 01:04:34 Dawn of the Jedi movie? Well, he'll probably play a villain because it seems like he plays a villain in almost every movie that he's in with James Mangold. But you're right. He is in every movie that he does, that James Mangold does. Because he wasn't, yeah, because he was in, he was, he was in, he was in, he was in, he was in, freaking complete unknown. He was Johnny Cash. He definitely shows up in all that. And I think that he will wind up playing a villain, probably one of the Jedi, the original
Starting point is 01:05:05 Jedi who turns to the dark side or something along those lines. That's also what I like, by the way, is you're going to have so many, you would assume, you have so many people turning to the dark side because there wasn't the rule of And that was the whole point is that they just kind of started. There was two different factions of it. But I would like to see him play just a straight up good guy. Maybe one of the main good guys. That would be great.
Starting point is 01:05:27 A.J. Bristol, I think going with the sun is the best choice because it makes more sense. And you also tell Tchala and Storm stories. Yeah, I mean, it seems like that could also work, right? Especially if you do that time jump, I think either. way, you know, him, Tachala's son trying to essentially do what Tachala did and live in his father, or follow his father's footsteps and kind of get out of his father's shadow, if you will. I think that you could do that.
Starting point is 01:06:01 But if this report is to be true, they're not going that route. Jason Ashcroft, I cannot express how much I do not want Pattinson in the DCU. I'm also pumped from Angold Star Wars movie. Yeah. I also understand that when it comes to. I don't know if it's a thing against patents, and I like patents a lot. Do you not want patents in the DCU
Starting point is 01:06:20 because the world itself is so set up in the way that Reeves has put it together that doesn't necessarily make sense, or do you just not like patents? I'm curious. But as far as Mangled Star Wars movie, me too. I'm a Mangold guy, man. Like I said, I'm not going to judge somebody,
Starting point is 01:06:35 even though I didn't love that, the Indiana Jones movie. I thought there was some stuff in there. I do think he was kind of, he'll never tell you that, but I think he was kind of pushed a little bit by Lucasfilm to do a version that they wanted to do. And I could be making that up completely. But that's what I'm like going to tell myself.
Starting point is 01:06:52 But then you see something like a complete unknown. You go and Ford versus Ferrari, which I, and Copeland, so many different things. The guy's a genius. I love James Mangold, loving his approach to this. Every day we get more members that are coming in here. And every day it's because nerds engaged is putting people into the membership. We're releasing some full-on reactions without the footage on them, and that is something that the members get.
Starting point is 01:07:17 I just sent the two live stream exclusives that the members get. So all the members get that. You get the Capes and Cowles comic book. So members have a lot of benefits. So you just got five gifted ones from the great nerds engaged. Thank you so much. Crystal, following it back up and stay safe, Roxy. Yes, Roxy will be okay.
Starting point is 01:07:35 She's going to give us updates for sure. Nick Vaughn. Thoughts on the rumor of the new He-Man movie taking place on Earth again, and if it is true, why the studios hate attorneys so much. So, Nick, I've talked about this. I've discussed it. I hate it. I think it is the stupidest decision,
Starting point is 01:07:50 and I'm so disappointed in Travis Knight, if this is true. Again, it is a rumor, as you mentioned. I hate it. It does show that they do not understand what made it special. It should be Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings and not Adam discovering that he's Neo on a different planet and that he's actually He-Man. His mother was true.
Starting point is 01:08:09 And I said this wrong last week, and I was corrected rightfully so. He-Man's mother is from Earth, not him. He-man's mother is from Earth. And you want to do that? You want to have his mom. You want to do a story with that and get the origin story of how that came to be? Then let's go. But this is not, this is, I hate it.
Starting point is 01:08:30 I hate it. We're going to do the same thing we did for Master of the Universe. If that is the case, then I am thoroughly disappointed. Again, a rumor. but they don't understand it at all. You can do so much with the tournia. It's a horrible idea, and it's going to, and another bad He-Man film will sink it.
Starting point is 01:08:46 It'll sink it completely. Really stupid. Okay. And Jared Guffie asks about AG1. Yes. Works. Use it every day. It's the best.
Starting point is 01:08:55 Good gut health, all that stuff. And I'm not even a sponsor's right, but you should get them and use that code. Nerds Engage, what's up, bud? Chicken or the egg situation. Is the director getting a great performance based on, on what they want or the actor's ability to take said direction. Well, I think it's a kind of a little bit of both, right? Because if you have a great director saying, you know,
Starting point is 01:09:18 being able to express themselves in a way with the right words, that the actor hears it and goes, oh, because you can also say, you know, it's a matter, I don't think it's a chicken egg situation. I just think you just get the right people together who can collaborate together the right way. And that's what it is. in the same way that you have a conversation with somebody, you go, oh, I vibe with that person. And you get better conversation out of it.
Starting point is 01:09:44 You get whatever it might be. So, yeah, I don't think it's necessarily chicken egg on that one. Okay. Next one, very, very kind and generous donation here by Tatranen, 901. What is your favorite era of Bob Dylan's discography? Mine's his mid-60s rock phase. That's where I was going after going electric. Highway 61 revisited, yes.
Starting point is 01:10:06 you're stealing my answers while you're writing them in there i was watching this documentary last night that i don't i had never seen from 67 that um that was following around bob in the beginning he's just got like the the postcards or the the cards and he's going through his music and and i was watching that with for a little bit last night but i think it is around that same time and i do like the stuff that he was doing i do like the stuff that he when he the stuff that when he started and i it's like the evolution of his music but i would say the late 60s for sure are is the era that that I think is the best Bob, in my opinion. But great question.
Starting point is 01:10:41 Love that question. And that, that, highway 61 visit. Stop that. I don't care about that. Highway 61 visited is pretty damn good. Yeah. Bob is just next level genius, man. Next level genius.
Starting point is 01:10:57 35 questions as far as we are approaching, I think we're approaching the end. What was Andy Musciati? Andy Muscietti has comments? Let's see. Any Musciati has new comments? You got to send it to me because Muscietti comments today. He's got any Mushieti where, let's see.
Starting point is 01:11:13 He says, there is good progress. Is that what he said? In the development of the Brave and the Bold, as for my involvement in the project, there are good intentions for now. They want to make the film with me and I want to do it too. I'm looking forward to working on the film. So again, as I said, developing story, nobody really knows what's happening. Nobody knows.
Starting point is 01:11:33 I don't know. You know? Nobody knows. Bobby, Bobby Jackson. Hey, Christian, I sent you a link to the He-Man story yesterday in the comments. Did you have a chance to check it out? So what are your thoughts? I didn't see it in the comments, Bobby.
Starting point is 01:11:45 That's not to say that you didn't send it. It's to say that I didn't see it. So if you did it from yesterday's live show, I can do that right now and see if it shows. Sometimes those things go to spam when you put it in the, you put a link in there. So hopefully that's not what happened. But let's see. I'll do the comments real quick. And I'll, from yesterday's show, and I'll do a, let's see, I'll do ones that are held.
Starting point is 01:12:11 Nope. Okay. So no spam, no spam on that show. So let's see if I can find it from you, Bobby. And if I can, then I will read it. If I can't find it, then I won't read it. How about that? That makes sense, right?
Starting point is 01:12:24 Okay, I don't see anything as far as I'm scrolling down, but I'm curious of what that, no, I didn't see it in there, Bobby, yesterday's show. So I missed it. I can't see it here right now. But what are the thoughts? Give me your cliff notes of it so I know. And the sympathy of all things, putting in a dollar. Thank you, sympathy.
Starting point is 01:12:46 Really appreciate that. And he follows it up. Please bring back rewatch this year. Well, that's what this is. That's what the reactions are. The reactions for me are rewatches. For the MCU, like I've seen them all. So you're getting the rewatches.
Starting point is 01:13:01 That's what they are, except you get them with footage this time around. So they are back. They're just back with actual, because we couldn't do them the way that we did do them beforehand because that just, that didn't make any sense. Like we did, we did the rewatches with me, Winston and Coy. And then we came in, we talked about them. But then, you know, the problem is that there, you guys didn't want to watch all of them, which is understandable. You know, it's like it just, we did, we, I remember when the toy store, something was coming out with Toy Story way. For some reason, we, oh, it was light year, I think. So we watched all the Toy Story movies.
Starting point is 01:13:34 and we did a rewatch on it. Nobody cared about it. So we do rewatch through the reactions now. That's how we do rewatch. Mirror domains. Any hopes for Mortal Kombat 2 this year? Look, I got to see the part one. I know that they did the remake to part one.
Starting point is 01:13:53 So I got to check that out. But let me see part one, and I'll tell you if I have any hopes for part 2. Mirzum, Serenity Moon. Is Steph safe from the fires? I have not spoken to Steph, Mike, or anybody else. yet uh brett anybody yet so i'm gonna i gotta do a full i'm gonna doing a full text to the whole crew um probably when i get off here to let it to see everybody is uh chef mike in florida what's
Starting point is 01:14:16 stuff chef mike would you be pissed if we get a white black panther and i'd be pissed um i don't think it would make any sense i think be pretty pretty stupid if you do a uh a white black panther i mean yeah and i think people rightfully so would be pissed off the whole it's kind of uh kind of goes against exactly what black panthers supposed to supposed to be so yeah i pissed i don't know the right word but what the hell are you doing uh is probably my my best uh my best reaction there uh levi i kind of hoping for the night till republic series if done right just finished the reven novel his and bestita shan's ending was heartbreaking adaptation of that would be epic fingers crossed for lost stars too yeah i am also what i think
Starting point is 01:15:04 think that one of the things that they should do, what I hope that they do, is inside of a writer's room. They get a writer's room going in Star Wars and bring in some of your authors from your novels. You don't have to have them write screenplays. Not all authors can write screenplays, but a lot of those authors know Star Wars really well. Claudia Gray, as you mentioned, Drew Carpecian, Alexander Freed. There's so many different, Christy Golden, there are so many authors that know Star Wars better than most of the people they have writing these movies. But they don't do that. And I think they have this kind of elitist kind of point of view on it, which I think is stupid.
Starting point is 01:15:48 Anyway, next one, it's a me, Steveo, your Oscar non-prediction, male, female. Also, stop that, Steve-o. So Oscar-non predictions for male, winners, probably Adrian Brody for male, or male, female I'm hoping it's Demi Moore that's my goal my goal is for her to win my my hope is for her to win on that one Routen for your I'm for Demi to win on that one armada would you still have Arthur your Arthur the king in your top 10 it wasn't in my top 10 um I'm so mad I'm so mad again between that and apes until you mentioned it forgot it came out this year I love that movie it's a cute movie man I probably would have been my honorable mentions
Starting point is 01:16:34 For sure. Really enjoyed that movie a lot. I would have put that up there higher. Damn it. Damn it. Okay. So 40 questions thus far. I'll take it.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Take it. Thank you, guys. Is the third. Ian Knole. Insecure. The first purge could be an interesting choice to play Black Panther. Thoughts. Look, I don't know Ian Noel.
Starting point is 01:17:01 I'm going to check, though. Let's see. where it is hold on a second yeah in no oh i i don't know i'm not familiar with his work am i no i'm not familiar with his work so look for me where you get it the casting that casting is hired for a reason casting directors you find the right person you find the right person so jason ashcroft to follow up my previous super chat i love patinson's batman i want it to remain separate There you go. Matt Reeve shouldn't be metalwood. Okay.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Hard for me to argue with you there because I felt the same. And I kind of still feel the same that I don't know how it's going to work. But if they want to do it this way and they feel that they have a take that can make it work this way, then there you go. Then give it a shot. But I can't tell you that I'm looking at you going, what are you talking? Come on, it could work. I understand it.
Starting point is 01:18:06 I understand the argument behind it. I really do. Simon's section. I wouldn't be surprised if Christian ends up interviewing Mangold in the future regarding the 25,000 storyline before the original. I mean, I would love to. I would love to talk to James Mangler. You kidding me?
Starting point is 01:18:20 Will we see Blasters, Hyperspace, jumps to droids, exist, preach? I would love to talk to James Mangle. Now, when it comes to that particular movie, probably going to be waiting a little bit. because we don't even know when it's happening. The only movie, as they said in that article, that we know that's happening is the Mandalorian and Grogu. That's the only one that we know that's coming out.
Starting point is 01:18:46 Other than that, there's been no, we'll probably get an announcement this year about something, at least that you think. Go pal, just some support. Thank you, sir. You have a follow-up from Go-Pel. With the time jumps in Dune and in this mangled film, it doesn't bother me that the tech, et cetera,
Starting point is 01:19:01 is based on the same because when you're already so advanced there's not much room to approve yeah but it's 10,000 years 25,000 years it's different if you're looking at 300 500 you know it's like there's a lot of way I mean 25,000 years from whatever it is if you look at that's not necessarily true right because you this is going to be significantly different in 25,000 years you can advance like if it no matter what this thing does like you mean you look at you say oh what else what else could they advance on this tons tons that you can advance and improve and depending on what they found
Starting point is 01:19:39 and so I don't I ignore it more than other people do but I understand the argument and then Gopal also says what else are you going to do once you have traveled suspenders I mean I get it I understand that where you put yourself you kind of handcuff yourself you kind of handcuff yourself if you're the writers of it because what else are going to do but as far as actual science and all that stuff who knows what else you could discover with this I mean
Starting point is 01:20:03 scientists are smarter than you and I Eric Kirby, Mr. Harlov, who was more of a rage monster when they get upset? Roca Rha Campia. I remember Campia breaking his headphones when his audio messed up. That's hard to say because of different situations. And people get older and more mature when things happen. I'm speaking from experience myself. So I don't know.
Starting point is 01:20:28 I'm not going to give you the one of them a title, but they're both passionate dudes so they both can get upset at certain things. Crystal D.W. Fan Been loving Sam's reactions to the MCU. When Lord of the Rings reaction. I got to ease her into it. But I think that right now what we're going to do, my goal with Sam is MCU first, and within that, because she's not going to watch this show,
Starting point is 01:20:51 so this won't spoil it. I know that she has seen the first, and she doesn't remember it, though, but she definitely remembers the third Toby Spider-Man movie, but she's never seen the she doesn't remember the first and she's never seen the second and the third one she remembers because her son would play it over and over and over again when he was a kid she's never seen either one of the Andrew Garfield movies so I think that after end game I'm going to watch those first with her then watch uh no way home the rest of the
Starting point is 01:21:29 the rest of the MCU leading up to now I can't I don't know if I'm going to watch any of the shows yet maybe loki maybe loki um maybe wanda vision because of uh of the dr strange thing i don't know yet so there's a lot of shit to watch leading up to it and then once we finish the mcc whenever the hell that is we probably will do um x-men movies uh so i don't know when we're going to get to lord of the rings if we do at all so um let's say oh no shit speaking of sam She had to cancel tonight. Farts. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:11 So I guess we're not, so Winter Soldier might not come out this weekend, guys. So that's the, that's probably, well, we'll see. We'll see. But you jinx me there, Kristen. I'm just kidding. All right, Bobby Jackson, do a search for a movie web, he man four days ago, author Anthony Lund. While I don't like the earth approach,
Starting point is 01:22:29 I can understand it from a budget standpoint. No, I don't care a budget standpoint or not. P.U. P-U, no thanks. I'll look at it, Bobby, but I hate it. I hate it. Yeah, I hate it. I'll look at it, Bobby, but I think it's stupid.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Really stupid. Anyway, Levi R. Do you think Marvel does the same thing they did with Robert Downey Jr and bring back Michael B. Jordan as Black Panther? Nah, you find somebody new. Give somebody an opportunity. Give somebody new an opportunity. Michael B. Jordan doesn't need it.
Starting point is 01:23:05 give somebody new an opportunity. I hope they don't do that. I would actually hope that. I really hope they don't. Mike Joyce, you seem to watch movies and intervals when you're at home. You think that it affects your enjoyment of movies
Starting point is 01:23:16 if you watch them in one sitting. No, because I've learned how to do it. I never do that, obviously, for screenings. You can't do that for screenings, but that's why I see majority of movies, screenings. It's just too hard for me to watch stuff at home. I have to watch them because the thing is,
Starting point is 01:23:31 normally what will happen, like one of two things. One, if I'm watching it with my wife, plausible let's finish this tomorrow because we got you get i mean like today by the way we've got to wake up in order for our house to be moving at the right pace and getting everybody off to school and doing everything and being we got to wake up just around like 650 to 7 a.m. is usually we're pushing it well we both woke up at 7 30 this morning looked at the clock and said and it just you know and then it pushed everything back and and so staying up a little later at night is pushing it so does it hurt the enjoyment no because like i said
Starting point is 01:24:05 I found a way to, I found a way to do it. So, no. That's just how I watch movies now. I just come to it. Simon's section. George Lucas showed us, not told us, an attack of clones. That ships of a certain size needed, a certain size need added help to go into hyperspace.
Starting point is 01:24:24 So yeah, I blame Mr. Lucas. I have an it. I can scratch. Oh, well, hopefully you can scratch that, scratch that it. Scratch your ace. But yeah, I mean, look, there are ways to, I mean, he did it, to you I think Star Wars right now is in a spot where you can can kind of ignore some stuff
Starting point is 01:24:41 people are going to forgive you for you just make up your own rules if you have to because there's a there's a lot of different things that people have set up in other movies that are just stupid anyway I think there's only like one left guys I think there's one left for now unless you guys want to keep it going which is totally fine if you don't Xanderman in the Dune Universe doesn't trust technology. I know, but I've heard this argument already. So technology won't advance much. That is why they use human space navigators.
Starting point is 01:25:12 Nah, I don't buy that. Not with 10,000 years. Technology after the robot war is fine. But 200 years, 300 years, 400,000 years, okay. But then 2,000 years, 5,000. Nah, things of all. You just look at, you know,
Starting point is 01:25:28 you want to make a different argument about like time, how time is, moves different in 25,000 years in that galaxy than it does here, that's an argument that I could probably say, okay, well, maybe 25,000 years is like, you know, 800 years here. So the advancement of it doesn't really move, the way that just time moves, time works, then maybe. But nah, I'm not, that's just too many years to have the robot argument.
Starting point is 01:25:57 Crystal D.W. Fan, excited for the X-Men movie reactions. Me too, because she hasn't really seen. any of them. She saw Logan, which is the one I showed her first, which is going to be interesting. Anyway, that's our show today. You're a good show today, guys. We had a lot of great stories here today. And we held the fort down, I think.
Starting point is 01:26:23 Everything was, everything's moving. Everything's working. So thank you. Tomorrow I should have Steph and Mike on the show. Hopefully I'm going to check in with those guys and see how they're doing. if not we'll have to do another one of these but apple podcast Spotify anywhere podcasts are found i have a really fun announcement for p for ufc fans um matt sarah who just put his recent episode up he did his most anticipated movies he put that episode up yesterday next tuesday big episode for

I mean, when he showed up that music hit what's funny is it was like a half and half reaction at first and then they just got louder and louder to the point where it was like deafening it was brutal really brutal um so yeah sad to see but you know kind of understood also um and then we got one more kingsport cal any special black history month shows probably yes i think so uh cal i think they will probably do
Starting point is 01:28:24 some stuff for sure and i think that i i'm going to talk to winston uh in February about some more things that we could potentially do. But yes, the answer is definitely. Before we go, Tatt Ronan, 901, Matt Serra is an absolute man. She's the best. He's the best. And, you know, the other day was sucked because I had, I shot this thing. They had, we had, I got this brand new microphone that I'm used it for my home studio.
Starting point is 01:28:50 And we shot this kind of promotion thing for it on Monday. And the camera crew came in and, you know, rearranged some stuff in here as they had to do just for lighting and a couple things got kind of messed up one of the cameras got messed up but it was a wire and so ray longo who is mad sarah's trainer was his trainer and you know is morab's trainer now and he's he's he's legendary he's great he's like micky and another great dude and he was in here for one of the episodes but he was in here for this episode we were going to shoot something and i couldn't get the freaking cameras to work i couldn't get him to work i was two and a half hours and eventually we had to call it but um but the both
Starting point is 01:29:28 guys just cracking jokes and they're just really good really good guys and so matt that's a great guy and so so's rye so uh bobby jackson one out of two he man synopsis from daniel richmond ten-year-old prince adam crashed to earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical power sword the only link to his home on attorney yeah and i hate that so far um after tracking it down almost two decades later prince adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat a powerful villain, coming in here,
Starting point is 01:30:10 let me comment on what I've read here so far. Here's part three. Bobby finishing it off here. Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. To quote Matt Sarah, Boo! Buh!
Starting point is 01:30:30 Awful synopsis. awful synopsis that is horrible so is he is he adam or star lord bo that is horrendous that is horrendous bo he's a prince that lives in freaking attorney and he's supposed to be his high-privileged turd of a kid at least that that's what they what most people think he's running around saving attorney if boo oh that sucks that sucks oh please change that script please change that script horrible boo oh bobby just ruined my day just kidding it was very nice to you to ruin my day but through through chat so i can't really be mad at you um oh no oh no yeah i know that Travis Knight is telling me there's a whole reason I was excited for it, but that story, oh,
Starting point is 01:31:32 hold on. Another part of that synopsis is coming up right now. Here it is. Anyway, thanks for that. Appreciate it. And we'll see what happens with that one. Stephanie, worse for he-man. Adam on Earth or Leto-Skeletor?
Starting point is 01:31:50 No, I think Leto will be good as Skeletor. I think Letto could be good. So, yes, He-Man on Earth is worse. Tadetron, 9101. Santa Claus is lowered up the wazoo. You love that one. I really should re-uploaded that one. The Brett and I are Christmas pit.
Starting point is 01:32:07 It's one of my favorite bits we've ever done in this channel. But thank you for bringing that up. I really do love it. Dennis Hoffman, Snyder, suggested a big rising star was offered Black Panther role, but declined, not wanting to jeopardize their career momentum. Maybe Aaron Pierre. Maybe, maybe Aaron Pierre, but maybe.
Starting point is 01:32:26 that's that's that's that's that's a good guess that's a good guess um anyway yeah i'm just i'm just i'm just i'm thrown off by that that that that synopsis that bobby just said anyway thanks for joining us here today guys really really appreciate it um and that's it so we'll be back here tomorrow i just got to find out who's going to be on the show hopefully everybody is safe and can can do it and that's it oh see every time i think i'm you guys want to let me go.
