Starting point is 00:00:38 We appreciate it. We'll see you next time. Happy Wednesday, everybody. Welcome back to the show. It's a Sith Council show. It's myself and Steph's a bra here today. And we got a lot to talk about, man, and or images coming out. Night's Hillo Republic canceled or I don't know, delayed canceled.
Starting point is 00:00:57 A few other things that I think Star Wars News Net is. some other stuff that's pretty cool. But what the hell? What was it that I saw that I thought was pretty interesting. There's a lot of, there's interesting enough. There's some pretty good stories going on this week, you know, we're approaching and or, oh, obviously, Amanda Lest, Stenberg, officially announced in the Acolyte. And that's really, those are the big stories in general, right? Then we've got a bunch of the Mandalorian, Pedro Pascall and Katie Sackoff. They talk about the new steps going on. and Total Film had a report, so we'll talk about that. So we're excited to talk about that.
Starting point is 00:01:34 We got a lot. We have a lot of questions coming from you guys as well. So it's going to be a pretty fun show, which the two of us. And we're talking about Steph and how she recovered from Comic-Con if she did it all. I don't know. Probably. Probably not. I don't know if she realizes she's on the show today.
Starting point is 00:01:50 She's probably still hung over. I was the guest. She's nodding. So a couple things to do. Make sure this show is on the big thing. Spotify, Apple Podcasts, all of that. And our numbers have been going up. And we thank you because of that.
Starting point is 00:02:06 And you have been getting the sponsors. You've been doing that. You've been helping to show it. I got a pretty big announcement coming pretty soon. Can't say it just yet. But I think you're all going to be pretty excited. But it's just a little tease. Just a little tease.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Just a little tease. What else are you going to tell you about? Oh, man. Am I excited about this one? Look at this. Saturday. Jake Lewis and friends of Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank. I don't know a lot of these cats, but I bet you they're funny if Jake Lewis is putting on on this show.
Starting point is 00:02:34 You got Christian Henley, William Zau, Dylan Fisher, Matthew Coe, Irma Rivera. Jamie Costa here is bailing on the show. I'm trying to break his balls to get him on, but we'll see. I don't think he's busy. And then some guy named Ken Knapsock. Here's a hack. No, he's pretty funny. He's going to be on.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And then me, I'm going to be doing a set on Saturday night, July 30 at 9.30. Jake Lewis is a great dude. His shows are very funny. So hopefully you can be out there and you come see it because I'm working. on some new stuff and I'd love to have you out there. And if the World Girls don't show up for this one, they're dead to me. Because they're, they're doing it. Normally it's like, oh, we do a show on Wednesdays.
Starting point is 00:03:08 We can't be there. Well, it's not Wednesday. It's Saturday. So if you're not there, dead. Dead to me. All right. Actually, I don't care. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Here's the show. It's the Sith Council. Let's do it. What's up, everybody? Welcome back. Tis the big thing Sith Council show. It's me. It is the latest.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Friday, Mike Kalinowski, perfect. Hello. Exactly the, that's exactly what I wanted to do there. What the hell? Yeah. Did I download something stuff? I thought I did. Oh, wait, there it is.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Perfect. Oh, wow. Look at that. Yeah, just like that. I will be at the show Saturday. Okay, I'm going to hold you to do that. I'm going to be, even though you don't care. I know.
Starting point is 00:04:03 That's my, that's my defense mechanism stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's when people don't, when they let you down, It's like, I don't care. Yeah. But quietly, I'm crying inside. Yeah, you turn around and a single tier drops down slowly. No, about seven tiers.
Starting point is 00:04:16 You get the one Denzel tier that comes down. Yeah. That's it. Are you recovering from Comic Con? How was it? Was it fun? Amazing. I wish you were there, but next one, hopefully you're there. So we can.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Next year for sure. This year was tougher. But was I right about Dorena getting into parties or what? The best. Yeah. Between her and Roxy, really. Like they duoed on like yeah together and I was like I was just cruising along. What's up y'all?
Starting point is 00:04:44 I can see Roxy being pretty good at that as well. I just think that because Doreen has got the resume obviously because she's been there. Yes. But I could see it. And you guys got into the EW party. We didn't try. Oh, you didn't try. We we didn't try because like in the years before it's a little bit annoying.
Starting point is 00:05:01 And then we found out everyone got in. So we were like we should have tried at least. We left Saturday though because we. We went way too hard in the paint for a fourth night. Oh, you left on Saturday. Wow. Yeah, because we didn't plan on doing Saturday at all. How do we had known that?
Starting point is 00:05:17 We would have changed the game plan. Also smart that because you get an extra day to recover. Totally. Needed it. Yeah, you needed it. So we got a lot of stuff in the news. We'll start with basically the, what is this? What happens now?
Starting point is 00:05:33 Someone don't leave me alone. Someone wants to, Google Chrome wants to record my screen. No. No, leave me alone. I don't need you in my life right now. This is what I need. I need this to go away. And I need this. So let's start. We're going to start with the Mandalorian story. Pedro Pascal, our friend Katie Sankoff.
Starting point is 00:05:57 All right. So they describe the next steps in their character's journey for the Mandalorian season three. Here we go. Mandalorian season three. It's currently in post-production. And while not many details are known about the new adventure, Lucasfilm revealed the trailer during Star Wars celebration that stunned the crown. The footage is still not officially online,
Starting point is 00:06:17 but from the descriptions released then, we can start connecting the dots. It looks like after reuniting with Grogu, Pedro Pesophezcal's Din Jarin will face off against Bo Katan, Katie Sackoff, who is desperate to get the Dark Sabre back. As part of the new issue, Total Film magazine spoke with both actors about their characters' arcs in the new season of the Mandalorian.
Starting point is 00:06:35 The footage shown at celebration teased that Din will be leading a group of other Mandalians at some point in season three when asked about this pedro postal said if he is stepping into a leader leadership position he's reluctant to do so i don't think that there's anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they're capable of and who they are that part has been really really fun also from my point of view there's so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that i just tried to achieve the subtleties of that character of that character development excuse me sackoff said of the following about her characters at the beginning of the season anytime you have a goal and you don't succeed, I think you reevaluate. We don't know what the consequences of her re-evaluations are yet, but the trailer revealed that she will share some scenes with Grogo. She even asked him, do you think your dad was the only Mandalorian about these scenes? Sago said, it's funny because you always have to think about how you're going to interact with Grogo.
Starting point is 00:07:23 It's so specific. You have to make sure that you're not doing anything that says something different. Every single thing, every single interaction with Grogo is very, very thought out. We have about six months to go before the Mandalorian season three arrives. It is targeting a February, 2023 release, and anticipation is ready through the roof. For more content and interviews with the cast and crew will be coming in the months ahead, keep you updated. That's from the great Miguel Fernandez over at Star Wars Newsnet, friend of the show.
Starting point is 00:07:50 I want to get Miguel on this show, by the way. Yeah, that'd be awesome. I'd love to have Miguel on the show. So anyway, this is great. Total film is starting to build up on it. It also shows that with the hallage stuff that was going on in comic, on obviously Marvel stealing the show with everything they were doing Marvel wise but we knew Star Wars wasn't going to have a presence now they had their big presence obviously at celebration but they'll probably have some more stuff at D23 I'm not going to get my hopes up for how much I don't think it's going to be a lot I think Marvel's going to still steal the show again at D23 I think we're finally going to get stuff with Ackolite but Mandalorian I think we'll also have a pretty massive presence I think everything at D23 like there wasn't a lot of I mean minus like she Hulk there wasn't a lot of the Disney plus stuff that they really dove into because they were focusing on the film stuff i think d23 for
Starting point is 00:08:42 obvious reasons will focus on the disney plus stuff and mandolarian that trailer will come out then that's when they're going to release it because people are saying why are they releasing it it's it's leaked all over the place because i think they're waiting for d23 oh that makes sense yeah i was wondering why because i was hoping i'm wondering when marvel's going to drop some of the trailers that they showed in hall h but it seems like a long time for them not to drop it and but i like Yeah, but I like this article because I was wondering what people knew about Katie Sackoff's return because if we didn't weren't in there, I guess I would. We, we kind of hope that she would return because we loved her character, but we didn't know as well. And so these articles and interviews are confirming it, which is nice that they're doing them.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Yeah, I mean, they're definitely. I mean, they're going to lead with Katie. And from what it looks like, she's got a much big role. Yeah. And for selfish reasons, I'm very, that makes me happy. But for just as a fan, it makes a lot of sense. And it also shows that when a character just fits in and it makes it like, if the whole damn show was about her and they and they pushed din towards the side for a little bit,
Starting point is 00:09:53 I'd be all right with that because the show's called the Mandalorian. And she even says, she says to Groga, as they quoted in this, you didn't, you didn't think that your dad was the only Mandalorian. and the show is called The Mandalorian. So if it pushes a little bit more towards her, I'm pretty sure that most people would be okay with that. Yeah, yeah. She's such a beloved character ever since Clone Wars
Starting point is 00:10:15 and now moving on to the screen. And she's been, she's like murdered the role, like both voice and acting-wise, live action. And I just like the way her and Pedro are talking about their characters and their development and like how serious they take everything. even if it's talking to Grogu, who's like the most adorable. It's really, these are serious times, especially where we're picking up in season three. Yeah, agreed.
Starting point is 00:10:42 I think that season three, as Miguel mentions, is very highly anticipated. I think that once February comes out, I mean, you look at the stuff, and speaking of Marvel, the stuff that is, Marvel's 20203 is just jam-packed, right? So Star Wars is also going to be jam-packing because we know that we're going to get Mandalorian, it seems, and or season two will be coming. coming out next year also. You've got, I guess that tales from the Jedi, is that what it's called, that animated series that's coming out. Yeah, you've got Asoka, the Acolyte, we think, and a few other things, but whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Skeleton crew. I don't know, is that 2023 or is it 20? Oh, it might be 2024. Yeah, it's 20. But either way, either way, it's like there's, they're starting to gear up towards more stuff. and then the Tyco movie that's come at in 2020. Oh my gosh. Yeah, because then they also have the next Star Wars celebration, which is not far. It's in spring of 2023, right? In London. Right. So they'll probably do some movie announcements then,
Starting point is 00:11:43 hopefully they have it figured out. What do you think? We're going to get more into that because there's a lot of questions that asked us about that from the fans. And I think that there's, there's, Hall H just made me completely rethink a lot of the stuff that Star Wars is doing right now on the way that it that with presentation and and a lot of different things. I still think they're running kind of blind. Even though there's more of a plan with the TV shows, obviously with more of a connected shared universe,
Starting point is 00:12:10 I still think they're flying blind as far as how they're making stuff. And they just haven't learned their lesson. It seems, it seems. At least they're not in D.C.'s position. So D.C., after talking to other people, D.C. through that panel together, like a couple of days before, very randomly. So Dwayne Johnson obviously wanted to go to promote the movie itself, right?
Starting point is 00:12:40 Yeah. And my only thing that I think that they could have done instead of, even though it said, if you look at the description on Comic-Con's website, it said, Warner Brothers Theatrical presents, and then it said with appearances by Black Adam and Shazam, whatever, right? but it still gave you the understanding that it's a Warner Brothers theatrical. That's what they did wrong. They should have said it was the Shazam and Black Adam panel.
Starting point is 00:13:03 And that's it. Because if they just lead with that, that's what you're expecting. People will still been disappointed that Henry Cavill didn't show, but that's not their fault. They never promised that. It was a deadline thing. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:13:14 that was fans just like throwing out rumors and then catching. Warner Brothers is also trying, it's only like six or seven months that Discovery bought them. So I'm giving them a pass. because they're still trying to catch up to everything. And then they have two big messes with a smaller mess. They have to clean up with Aquaman to as far as what they're going to do. And then they have a bigger mess with the flash.
Starting point is 00:13:34 So I'm going to give them a pass. I think that by next year they're going to be in better shape. And I think that they're very aware of everything, the criticisms that they got of it. And I don't think they're going to make that same mistake at Comic-Con next year. But Star Wars, smart didn't have a presence at Comic-Con and all because they don't have the plan. but we'll get into it. I just think that there's so much more that could be done in general that just isn't for some reason. And who knows if it'll ever figure itself out.
Starting point is 00:14:05 All right, moving on to some other stories here. Let's see. We got, oh, I want to get into this Knights Hill Republic thing. You still haven't played this game yet, have you? No. Do you have it? Can we just have a day when we? So, well, it's going to take you more than a day.
Starting point is 00:14:22 I just let you know. So when I played it, I took a full week off of work. I used all my sick days from where I was working at the time. I call it. To play this game. And I don't regret a single minute of it. It was incredible. And I love it.
Starting point is 00:14:40 It's my favorite. No, Jesus is not in it, but he might as well been in it. Sorry, I can't come to Sith Council next week. I'm on these Knights of World Republic, man. Yeah, but that's a different thing. If I would have done that for Sith Council, people would have said, okay, well, you're working, but I was not the case when I, when I did this. I said, oh, yeah, I'm taking all my sick days. Why? Well, I'm on, I'm on Corriban at the moment.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I'm on a different planet. Yeah, it was Corriban at the time. So don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, let's go and what's going down right now with this. But to answer your question, stuff, we can, what you need to do is it's, it's on, it's on, it's on, it's on, you can't really? Yeah, you just get it's, it's older. I got it on, do you have a Nintendo Switch? No, but I can use Dorenas. Just get it on Nintendo Switch. You should really play it, though, I'll tell you. I'm going to. It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:15:34 It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, still, probably my favorite story in Star Wars past, Empire Strikes Back. Still, I've watched all the YouTube story, like, all, like, people take the footage from it, and it's really, it's, like, awesome. It's so good. It's so good. So, so because of that, people were. losing their minds when the announcement was that we're getting a reboot. And today's standard of games and the way it's going to play, we're getting Ninth-Dill Republic.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And Lucasville never announces stuff that gets canceled or pushed back. False. Fans of Star Wars Ninety-O Republic who are excited for a remake of the 2003 classic role-playing game should be prepared for a long wait. to me that means never. The game is reportedly delayed indefinitely after a recent personal shake-ups within its video game developer, Asper Media. According to Bloomberg, the development team on the project has experienced a shake-up as two directors on the title, Art Director Jason Miner, and the design director Brad Prince were fired earlier this month.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Throughout July, two studio heads at Asper have told employees that development on the title is going to be postponed as the company looks to sign new contracts and development opportunities. While the plan was originally to release the game as early as 2022, it's now expected we're looking at 2025. Game has been in the pipeline for three years and its first presentable demo, which the staff had been confident in arrived in late June. A week after this demo was shown to developers, they suddenly and unexpectedly fired the directors.
Starting point is 00:17:11 This stugs, get him out of here! The company felt that the overall progress in the demo had been somewhat unsatisfactory. Good for them. Good for them. They didn't push out garbage. Good for them. for the amount of the time that the game had been brewing and that a disproportionate amount of development time is spent on a demo instead of the game hey good for them for making that decision i'll tell you that it's it it sucks that happened and they hired the wrong people to do it but good for them night till o'u republic remake is notably as for media's first major original project that the company's known for porting existing titles blah blah blah blah all right so anyway it doesn't it's it's not happening it's the name is basically what the story says um
Starting point is 00:17:51 This stinks. Did you see that I'm getting into the kids game of TikTok? Yeah, it's awesome. And I did, so I did a video on this yesterday. And I basically talked about how silly it is that this keeps happening. But I still wish that they would, I don't even know BioWare and even, I'm not going to pretend that I'm a massive gamer because I'm not. So I don't even know if BioWare is a thing anymore. BioWare and Drew Carpecheon, who worked for them at the time, Drew Carpichin, who also famously wrote the Darth Bain novels, also was very, very, was one of the people who created Revin.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Yeah. Bring them back because when they got rid of Drew Carpecian and the BioAir team, they did the second game. And it was some people like the second game. A lot of people like the second game, but it's not even close to the first game. Like I remember playing the second one and being very underwhelmed. And that's because I thought the team of Drew Carpecian and BioWare wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:18:46 But I think it's a pre-existence. It's a problem that, again, that Star Wars has where they don't, trust in a lot of these people that are telling these other stories like a Drew Carpecian Claudia Gray is someone who obviously if you talk of course we we appreciate Claudia Gray we give her novels all the time give her a screenplay let her write let her write an episode of television you know or maybe maybe she doesn't want to do that I doubt that I think she probably would but trust those writers to do some other stuff outside of it they know Star Wars really well they'd keep them compartmentalize into this one thing or they don't or they just say I it bring somebody else in
Starting point is 00:19:18 and that's what they and if you know this is the thing if you know how beloved Knightsdale Republic is and how look at the way that the internet reacted when they said they were going to do a reboot of it and you hire some company that hasn't even really done that much hire the best hire the best and they're like oh you spent too much money and time on the demo you're fired and now now it's going to it's just game's not going to come out until like 2028 yeah it's not I don't think it is either. Yeah, it's like even if these people who write novels that are that we love so much don't want to write the script, they can at least be a part of the storyboarding and like at least be a part of like giving the story or helping adapt the story and like putting someone who can
Starting point is 00:20:04 write the dialogue or whatever it is in screen format. But for this, it's, I don't know much about the development of games. I know that they have similar to films a ton of people, uh, involved in it. but it is crazy that they're like, no, yeah, they just didn't perform. Like usually, usually they're not that real what happened. We have so many up in the air questions with what's happened with Patty Jenkins, like all of these movies. But for this, they're like, no, they just actually didn't. Well, I think that was the report.
Starting point is 00:20:34 That's the report that I guess is coming out, but someone leaked it or whatever too. Like that's that, because they don't want the backlash of the, basically, it just wasn't up to standard. So we wanted to be up to standard. So, I mean, everybody's been, there's been so many people that keep getting canned from this thing. because they're at least aware of how important this game is to people.
Starting point is 00:20:49 You cannot put out a subpar thing. But I think that you should go back, find the people that made the first one so special and see if they're available and get them involved. Like you said, get them involved some way. But who knows? Listen, you guys want to protect yourselves? Nordpass, man. So excited.
Starting point is 00:21:10 People have been checking it out, using it, trying it, and they're not disappointed. And I'm hoping that you guys will. And people are always asking, and that's the thing. You have been so great lately with understanding how do we help the show? Find something that you guys like that we're talking about and get it. And I think Nordpass could be for you. Because if you ever using your, whether I think if you use your Facebook account to log into every new website or eShop, do you do it because it's easier or faster?
Starting point is 00:21:40 Have you ever wondered what could happen if your Facebook account is hacked? It's happened to many people that I know. and it's terrible. Basically, hackers get a free shot of every account that is linked to your Facebook. And we're not talking about just personal information, credit card, delivery address. There are more serious crimes that are going to happen, identity theft, crimes under your name, loans under your name, all of it. So Nordpass is more than just a password manager.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It's like cybersecurity tool and it makes your life a lot easier and safer. It's simple. It's easy to use and it's the same people who built the NordVPN. It's the advanced online security and privacy. I've trusted by more than 14 million users worldwide. You can store all your passwords in one place. You log in faster. You generate secure password, shop and browse faster.
Starting point is 00:22:23 You save time, data breach scanners, password health. NordPass is a zero knowledge password manager. And it's great. It's a tool that you have to get. You have to use it, especially for people in our space, they're doing this stuff all the time. And Steph, I'm going to yell at you if you don't have it. You should have it because it require,
Starting point is 00:22:43 It's really important. I need this. I'm looking it up right now. I'll tell you all you need to do. You need to go to Nordpass.com slash big thing and use that coupon code, big thing. You get 70% off of a two-year Nordpass premium plan at Nordpass.com slash big thing. And you'll get an additional month for free. This is a sponsored video, obviously, by Nordpass.
Starting point is 00:23:07 And it's pretty, it's great. Once again, you get a 30-day money-back guarantee. you don't like it and I don't think you're going to need it but you should really use that link again it's a password manager it is is very very very very helpful and I can tell people I can tell you that I wish that there are some friends that I knew that didn't have it beforehand and wish that they did so get yourself some Nordpass try it out the link is in the description of this video all right so I'm on it get it I get it I'm so serious I get so scared it's so true I know so many people have been hacked and it's it's like the worst thing ever to deal with it.
Starting point is 00:23:47 They're so good. The technology of it is so good and so easy. I think it comes out with the discount. It's something like three bucks a month or something. Yeah, I think it's less. It's maybe even less. So use that password. Everybody and again, what it it helps the show and it and this one definitely helps you. So get it. And if you're listening on audio, once again, Nordpass.com slash big thing. And when you have it by the way, put it in the comment section. I let the, I let the sponsors know.
Starting point is 00:24:16 I were moving on here. Amanda Lesteinberg, who was, it was so funny because this report came out during Comic-Con. And it was like big news, but I felt like, I thought it was announced like months ago.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Yeah, same. I just, it was just, I guess it was just rumored, but never confirmed. But apparently it was, a really good rumor because it was true. So true that everybody reported as if it was real. And again, Miguel Fernandez. During San Diego Comic-Con, Lucas from finally announced
Starting point is 00:24:54 that Amanda Lestinberg would be joining the cast of the upcoming series to Accolite, months after reports of their involvement first appeared. Speaking of Dennycke in San Diego, Stenberg, excuse me, Stenberg shared their enthusiasm about joining the project saying this. I'm so excited. Oh, my God. I've been on the edge of my seat for months. I've been attached for such a long time.
Starting point is 00:25:12 My whole life is Star Wars. When I wake up, I think about Star Wars. Okay, I'm liking these comments so far. I love Star Wars before I go to sleep. I read Star Wars. Okay, I'm really loving these comments so far. I listen to Star Wars podcast, you know. So hopefully she likes,
Starting point is 00:25:26 so excuse me, hopefully they like us because we've been nothing but supportive. So my life has been transformed to being dedicated to this one, which is actually really fun and liberating. So to finally share it with the people that, love the universe so much, especially because they contribute so much to it. Stenberg then revealed how Lucasfilm finally decided to announce their casting. Well, when the Star Wars folks found out, I was coming to Comic Con,
Starting point is 00:25:51 they were like, well, I think it's time. We're going to unleash you upon the world. That's pretty cool. It's rumored to be in pre-production, aiming at starting to roll cameras in November. Okay. For now, we don't know anyone else attached to the series, but that could change. I think that's what is going to change. We'll talk about them in a moment.
Starting point is 00:26:06 On September 10th, Lucasfilm will have a presentation at D-23, where they could discuss the series. I think Miguel's right since they didn't bring it up during Star War celebration in May. Leslie Headland is a showrunner and even though we know she assembled a writer's room last year, we don't know anyone else that has worked in the show. They're indeed starting to film in November, a 2024 release. Okay, so I'm going to tell you this. I've been talking about this show for a while now. And I've been talking about how it's one of my most highly anticipated didn't show. The more I hear about this show, the more I get even more pumped up for it. Because so here are the different variables of why I think this show is going to be so
Starting point is 00:26:46 at least exciting for me. One, we're finally getting away from the attached Star Wars story, the Skywalker stories that we have in the era, in the time period. And not that I don't want to be in those time periods. I like being in those time periods, but I think that it's time to explore other things and not have Lucasfilm to be so worried about moving past that and going somewhere else. So that's part, that's part one. Part two is we finally get to see like the High Republic, right? The most important thing for me is the fact that we're dealing with the Sith. We're dealing with the with the, with the dark times and we're dealing with the, with the fact that the Jedi think that they're so, that they're ahead of everybody else, they have
Starting point is 00:27:28 no more problems. And then the rule of two is still out there. Darth Bain had set this in motion and there are Sith working in the shadows. And what it sounds like is that a mandala might be one of the Sith that start this. Maybe. The other thing that they say inside of this particular interview is that Amanda has been reading Star Wars stuff, right? And the same thing goes for Headland, who's been reading Star Wars stuff. And then there's rumors of Bain, there's rumors of Revin, there's rumors, all this stuff. And the fact that Stenberg says, whether whether listening to podcasts and reading and doing all that that that gets me excited because i'm like okay that's these are people who are really just diving deep into the lure and getting
Starting point is 00:28:15 so caught up in it and i don't think it's just i don't think it's BS i think this is legit someone who is very excited to be in this project and it gets me excited yeah i don't think anyone says that they listen to podcasts and read the books i think most people default on i've watched star wars my whole life because most of us have right so it's cool to see someone that seems like a legitimate fan who's been so excited for this news and they're an incredible actor like if you watch the hate you hunger games too yeah yeah incredible and then uh leslie headlin is what they what she did with um what's a show on netflix that we like both the one with natasha leone uh yeah yes uh russian Dahls. Russian doll. Great show. It just seems like, and I love how it feels like this is slower to give the news out, right? Like Amandaela seemed like they were confirmed a long time ago, but they're being slow with the news and like steady with it. But this is what Star Wars did well for for Comic-Con, right? Because clearly they didn't have anything to really do at Comic-Con. But they said, you know, what we're going to do? We're going to finally announce Amandala and knew Amanda was going to Comic-Con.
Starting point is 00:29:32 And then smart because when they're on the line and just kind of there, now you can ask Amandaela questions and say, hey, the news just came out. And you could see by the reaction how excited, how excited Amanda La was when getting. So to me, this is exciting in general. So I'm pumped to hear more about the accolade. I was very disappointed at Star Wars Celebration. that there was nothing on Akelyke. Yeah, you were.
Starting point is 00:30:05 I was, I was, I was really, like that's the one that I, since it was announced during, I think the, the shareholders media, it's the one that I've been like, okay, are they finally, are we finally getting the lore that, that I've been reading about and wondering about and then hearing, um, Leslie's interviews, if this is true, but the rumors that are coming about all the different lore about Revin and Bain and, and all this stuff and, and the setup. And if, and if it's set up in a way that it can then spin off, into a Bain series and this other stuff. I mean, I definitely get my head rolling around in a million different directions on where it could go.
Starting point is 00:30:39 But this is my, this is easily my highly anticipated show out of all the ones that have been announced. Can't wait for Asoka. Very excited about Andor. Mandalorian season three, it's, I'm going to be watching with a, no one's going to be able to bother me. I'm going to lock myself in my room watching it. But the acolyte just sings the stuff that I love about Star Wars. So I'm pretty excited about it. And I feel like the people they have attached to it, just these two in general, when you're talking about a project that needs to have lore and it needs to have knowledge of the lore for it to be done right.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Whereas like the Taika film who he wants nothing, like he's not really, he's made it clear he's not really engaging with like all the other Star Wars stuff. That isn't as necessary. I know that's a little worrisome for you. But for this, the Ackley, I'm glad that they're putting people in the project that seem like they're devoid. devoted to that lore and then reinterpreting it. I love it. I love it. I mean, just when it just, it seems like this is a team that's just really, it doesn't just seem like BS.
Starting point is 00:31:42 It seems like they're really locked into the overall lore. And if you can put that into the, I just hope that these freaking episodes are longer than 30 or 35 minutes. Stop with this. 30 to 30 minutes stuff. It's like it's not like you don't have the budget. That's like or either you do one or two things. Like if you don't have the budget and you have a certain budget to do it, then
Starting point is 00:32:01 make it like like there's no there's no excuse for obi one episode obi want to be six episodes and be 35 minutes sometimes that was i mean and the boys are like an hour and a half episodes i feel like you change your things like stranger things yeah it was i mean there was that report that the skeleton crew is going to be the most expensive star war series um and i can't remember how much per episode but that's going to be the most expensive one and you know and i'll tell you not only was i excited about john wats doing a the series because of Spider-Man no way home have you have you watched the old man no yet on that okay i had heard some people talking about it and i said and i had no idea that john wats actually
Starting point is 00:32:46 directed the pilot i had no idea um so my wife and i are always trying to find something to watch and i said i i'm hearing good things about this old the old man i should be hearing a lot more about the old man than i was i mean i was hearing all positive things but everybody should be talking about this show and John Watts does a phenomenal job directing this first episode of the old man. I don't know where it goes past episode one, but I'm just telling you, for what I saw the first episode is just must watch TV. It's so good and it's directed brilliantly, acted brilliantly, and it made me more excited for skeleton crew, especially after our conversation with John Watts about what he's doing and the more serious episodes of Clone Wars
Starting point is 00:33:26 kind of taking it to this show. I think we're in for, for, I don't know. I think we're in for good, good ride here with the skeleton crew now after this. Where do we? Where's old man on? You can get it on Hulu, but it's an FX show. Okay. Oh, FX rocks. Okay. Yeah. I'll watch that for sure. It's real good. All right. Before we move on, we're going to get to our questions. I also, when I told you, I also got to tell you about private internet access. And this is another one. Man, we got some really great stuff happening right now on this show. And I'm, and I'm glad this is another one that Steph's going to have to get for herself. as well. So private internet access, we are sponsored again today by private internet access,
Starting point is 00:34:07 which is the most transparent VPN provider on the market at the moment. And this is just the software you need to protect your digital life. And you might not be aware of this. But if you browse an incognito mode, you're not safe online. Did you know that stuff? No, I do incognito. It's not safe. It's safe to use it, but it doesn't mean that you're safe online. Because what happens is that your internet server, excuse me, service provider, basically they still store all your browsing history and then they can just sell it to advertisers. That's why things pop up and you're like,
Starting point is 00:34:40 how did that get there? Because they have all your information. But private internet access, what it does is it encrypt your internet connection, then it hidery address, and then it protects you. So all you have to do is connect to one of their thousand servers and it's located in over 80 countries and even a server in each U.S. state so you can avoid sporting event blackouts, for example. So plus, you'll be able to get unrestricted access to geoblock content on streaming
Starting point is 00:35:06 platforms. Private internet access has a strict no logs policy and it's 100% open source. It's also available for all operating systems and one subscription can protect up to 10 devices at the same time. That's what I loved about it. If you want to start securing your digital life, I have a special available deal for you. So here's what you do. You get an amazing 82% discount on private internet access. Now this one is definitely, if you get that, it brings it down to $2.1.11 cents a month. And you get an extra three months added to your subscription for free. And since private internet access comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and 24-7 customer support, it's all risk-free for you. So you head on over to private internet access.com slash the big thing. Private internet access.com slash the big thing.
Starting point is 00:35:55 and get private internet access today. One more time, private internet access.com slash the big thing. So, Steph, this is what I'm telling you right now. We've been moving. We've been shaking. We're getting some pretty damn good sponsors right now, people that really can help out. How are you feeling about this? That's, I don't know if anyone else feels this, but I feel increasingly more stressed out
Starting point is 00:36:17 browsing the internet. Even when I say something, the next second I have an ad that pops up. Like, I said it out loud. How did they hear it? And I'll be like, oh, that shirt's cute. And then that brand pops up. You got to protect yourself. You got to protect yourself and you got to use these things too.
Starting point is 00:36:33 And once again, get an 8 and 82% discount. I mean, like I said, we want to make sure. And this is the stuff that comes in when they come in and we find when the podcast advertisers say to us, hey, do you guys think this is something for your audience? We've turned out many things. But this was when we just couldn't turn down. It makes too much sense. Speaking of the audience.
Starting point is 00:36:54 they have written in question stuff we're going to bring in those questions and here's the first one Bizarro Planet Do you think we'll see Mar Jade in the indoor series Because in Legends she was the right hand of the emperor Gonna give that a resounding No chance She's she's never making it to canon
Starting point is 00:37:11 I'll tell you why George Lucas didn't like her George Lucas was famously not a fan of Marjade I think Faluny's gonna honor that And I don't think Mara Jade ever sees the light of day in Star Wars live action yeah i think that's right i think that they he george lucas rarely i've not rarely but i feel like when he says he doesn't like something he either won't show up like some of the premieres of the last movies
Starting point is 00:37:37 or just and you want his support because he's the person yeah and i think that's just for that one particular thing though it's like it's it's more of like an honor code to him where philoni is is helping with a lot of the designs of the shows that if someone brings up hey what if we do Marjade and especially because they're playing inside of that timeline of where where it's all happening. I think he'd probably like, nah, George doesn't want to see it happen. Don't bring in. We're not going to be able to use her. Just want to just, that's what I would, I guess.
Starting point is 00:38:03 And I also just don't. And I also think because they set up so much with Luke already in the pre in the sequel series, there's no, no mention that he was ever in love or any of those types of things. And, you know, could they have gotten, could they get away with not mentioning her? Sure. And I don't know. I just, I don't think it happens. I don't think it happens.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Yeah, I feel like they stay so far away from love interest with the original characters. The most we've gotten is Obi-1, but then she died. Yeah, I know. T.J. Marino, do you think the reason we don't move on from the original trilogy, Mandalorian era, as Lucasfilm thinks that people just want the familiar, or do you think we could benefit to moving onto a time period with new characters? So I think that the answer to that question is absolutely they're worried about moving past it. I think that I think that sometimes they analyze things wrong and poorly.
Starting point is 00:38:54 For example, after Solo, this was admitted by Kathleen Kennedy in the interview. After Solo failed in the box office, they scrapped the Obi-One movie. They panicked and said nobody wants to see standalone, which is not the, which that movie would have done. Look at what the series did on Disney Plus. They would have put that movie out. That movie would have crushed at the box office. That movie would have with Ewan McGregor, because Ewan McGregor, because Ewan McGreg. and Hayden Christensen coming back in a movie where gotten people excited anyway.
Starting point is 00:39:25 No one knew who Alden Aaron Reich was. And I think he did a great job as far as just a performance in general, right? I thought the movie was fine. It was it. But it's like, but that was the excitement was in there behind it because they're like, well, who's that? That's, oh, and then there's like this comparison to Harrison Ford. Oh, you and McGregor already was Obi-Wan. So that stuff should have happened already.
Starting point is 00:39:47 but they do get connected and they're worried about, well, they're not going to like this, they're not going to like that. I think that that's one of the reasons they've been hesitant with the acolyte, but I also think they're going to put a lot of pressure on the acolyte, because the acolyte's like the first one out of all of these that are not attached in some way to either the prequels or the new trilogy or the original trilogy, right?
Starting point is 00:40:09 The accolade is the first one. And although Yoda will probably be in it, you would assume, Yoda would be in. Right. So at least you get you would get Yoda. So I think there's always going to be some kind of attachment one way or another. It's just how much they rely on it. Because the Manelorian, even though they had Luke, they didn't rely on them. They used them in a way that was perfect.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Obviously, Obi-1 relies on Obi-1. And then the problem with that show was when they didn't rely on them and they tried to bring a new character into it, it was the biggest criticism. So you can understand them looking at it and going, well, hell, we didn't have, we tried to do a new character. And they rejected it. And, but the argument to that would be you might not have rejected Reeva if you put her in a different show. You might have accepted. And not everybody rejected her.
Starting point is 00:40:56 She just, she just wasn't as accepted. I think it's everyone wanted to. I think that if you put Reva in like, in, in anything else, other than that, because everyone was waiting for that, for that relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin. So I think that they are very hesitant about trying new things that don't connect. But what do you think, so? Yeah. I think they're hesitant and I feel like that there should be a happy medium in the sense that I think that they should be creating things that are attached to the old stuff, the original stuff that we love and new stuff that are not attached to it. And then doing things like what you were saying, like the Mandalorian where you have a character that it like Luke who's just ever so lightly sprinkled in into like two episodes.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Right. But at the bottom line is like they just need to let the story. lead and come with great stories every single page of every single episode or movie. And then like there wouldn't be an issue. I feel like they're trying to shoehorn in storylines and connections. And then it takes away from the story they're trying to tell. That's why I'm just, I mean, I would, I still singing from, I just say, listen, just adapt one of these damn books. Please.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Yeah. Please. Jordan Sherrick is Star Wars in trouble? No. Canobie and Boba Fett were not good in my opinion. And it seems like they're just writing the success of the Mandalorian hoping you can turn out fine. No, Jordan, because here's the thing, even though Mandalorian is definitely more universally loved by all Star Wars fans. I think Boba Fett was more so just kind of bleh for people more so than, than, you know, such big disagreement. And I think for as many people who don't, who didn't like Obi-Wan, there are a lot of people who loved it. And it's also very, very, very, it was, it was, it was, it was. was the highest watched show. So are they in trouble? No. They're going to, the mainlorian is going to do very well. Assoca is going to do very well and or is going to do very well.
Starting point is 00:42:56 So this is what I've always said about television. The difference with television is like I said, even though both Boba Fett and Obi-Wan, like, I like Obi-Wan more than most, but I, I shouldn't say more than most, but I like Obi-Wan more than the people who, there are a lot of people who don't like. I think there's a lot of great stuff in Obi-1, for sure. But there's a lot of stuff that I was disappointed with. right but here's the difference if andor is great everyone you're talking about and or
Starting point is 00:43:22 everyone's going to go who would have thought andrew was going to be better than all we want i guarantee you're going to see that if that's the case right and then and then and then and then and and then and then andor passed and then mandolarian is is coming out and everybody's going to oh man vandalion should be the only show that they do and then emaculite or or asoka's great oh man ossoc you can see dave philoney there's a reason why day philone's doing these shows it's it's just constant cycle of what's definitely going to happen because and the difference is why TV works is because you don't have this time to sit in the if it's a like I said if it's a film if obi one comes out and it's a disappointing film and the next film is three years later all you hear
Starting point is 00:43:55 is about how bad the film division is and this and that and you're not going to get good good movies and blah blah blah blah blah and you're not going to and you don't have anything to to look forward to until three or four or five years later with TV bring in the next one is the star was dead not even close they need a better plan still but they're not not dead. Steph, what do you think? Yeah, it's, it's Star Wars. If you look at Marvel in the beginning of like the 70s and 80s, they were making ridiculous things in DC was definitely the one that was talked about and had like more of a plan and roles reverse all the time. Like people, they just have to get a groove of things. A hundred percent. All right. Next one. Chris Woodb.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Besides not having a plan, what do you think was the biggest mistake during the sequel trilogy? Um, I think that the biggest problem was, I think we've talked about this before stuff, was the not leaning in, not having the big three on screen together initially when the movie came out. I said, oh, you know what? That just kind of deals with loss. And you understand it doesn't always work out that way. But it's like you have Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford and you don't use them
Starting point is 00:45:06 together and put them in a, because especially going back and listening to the old interviews, George Lucas definitely had intention of them running one last. kind of mission together. And I think missing out on that and just relying on a new cast. And very similar to what we were just talking about with Riva. Right. It's like, I think that you have a, you have this cast in the new, new trilogy that work out fine. They're all really good actors, but you didn't give them time to really earn it, right? Like if they would have earned it through, if the first movie comes out, episode seven is about the old cast and then the passing of the torch starts to happen within eight and then nine is like the full cast.
Starting point is 00:45:44 I think you get more people saying, oh, wow, we've just been on through this adventure and look at the way that all these characters have progressed and now our beloved characters are now passing the baton. I think that plays better. So I think that's one of the big things that they missed out on. Yeah. It's hard to, that's a great point. And I think like the plan. And, you know, I like the sequel trilogy. So to me, it's hard to get nitpicky.
Starting point is 00:46:09 It's obviously like the storylines that bugged me. But that's hard to say when you have two different. directors who went back and forth with each other. So maybe that would be my thing. Yeah. Is having, well, you're pretty much inside of the plan side of it.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Yeah. Adam, General Rio, I think the armor is not good. What are your thoughts? Oh, I think, I think,
Starting point is 00:46:31 so disagree. Yeah, me too. Me too. I love the armor. No, no, I think he means, I think he means that she is,
Starting point is 00:46:38 that she's not a, oh, I was like, what? Every line she says is, gold like i think i think he means i think he means that she's a bad guy oh yeah well she's a zealot for sure i think that's more of what it is i don't think she's a bad guy i think i think she is very much so set in her kind of um radical ways um but i do think that one of two things i think she's going to
Starting point is 00:47:03 wind up helping him inside of his mission for sure and she might wind up dying eventually but um but no i don't think she's a bad guy i think she's going to be she's going to be that kind of constant help for him. But no, I don't think she's bad. Yeah, I think she, such an interesting character because it's so accurate of how you can get radicalized and believe in these things and not question things.
Starting point is 00:47:27 All right, moving on here. A-Z-I-N-Z. What's good, my guy? Hey, I believe that Dave Filoni and John Favro, building their shows to air to the Empire Avengers crossover event. God, I hope you're right. And possibly from the, He was on Vong from the new Jedi Order series.
Starting point is 00:47:44 What are your thoughts? Big fan from the way of New Zealand. You know, I've considered moving New Zealand. I've considered that. Really? Yeah. I thought about a couple times. I tried to just get the hell out of here.
Starting point is 00:47:55 But I don't know. I don't even know what to do. Show up. Who the hell do I know in New Zealand except him? So, but either way. Look, this has been rumored that this is what they're going to try to do. They're going to try to do this Timothy Zon thing where they're setting up Thrawn and they set up that scene between Luke.
Starting point is 00:48:12 and Asoka where, will I see you again? I hope so. Like, this would be great. This would be an absolute phenomenal thing that I think people could lose their minds if they did this kind of, this is the type of stuff. And I don't know if we're gonna get it to it in the question.
Starting point is 00:48:27 So I wanna address it now. One of the things when I was looking at with Hall Age, and you're looking at this, the way that Kevin Feigey comes out and presents this plan, it just seems, it's not just like he didn't come up with it the day before and go, you know, we're gonna announce all these shows.
Starting point is 00:48:41 I'm just going to announce all these things to them. This is what I'm going to do tomorrow. They sat in a room wherever the hell it was. They mapped out these plans and things are in production and things are putting together. And this is going to connect to that. And this is going to and it's all these things that they have this world. Imagine if in Star Wars celebration, Pheloni and Favreau come out and they go,
Starting point is 00:49:01 guys, we're going to tell you the full plan of everything that we have going on right now. Starting in February of 2023, the Mandalorian, boom, boom, boom, people lose their minds, okay? Then that carries over to, um, whatever the, the, April, May, whatever the August, I think it was, Asoka.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And then that's going to carry on to in January of 2024, the Thrawn series. And you're like, what the hell is the Thrawn series? And then, and that's going to put it with the movie that and they start to like map out inside of Star Wars, this thing. If they did that plan and they stuck to it and they stuck to this thing where they stop throwing directors to the side and doing this and they don't, and they put an actual plan together with a full concise storyline. They would blow people's minds.
Starting point is 00:49:45 And if they connect it, but you need, you need someone, like, whether it's Favreone, Fuloni, running the whole thing. And I don't know how involved they were in Obi-Won. I don't know how involved they were in Boba Fett, minus the fact that Filoni directing an episode. But they need to start doing this and connect it to the films. The same way that Marvel's doing,
Starting point is 00:50:03 they could steal all this stuff from Marvel and do it the same way. They have the material. It's the same damn problem that was going on with the films. There's no like plans. Oh, we're going to do that series. That's going to be fun. That's going to do that. Flonian Fabro clearly have a connectivity of what they're going to do with
Starting point is 00:50:17 Assoca and these things. But like then that person will do a series. It's like slate it. Slate it out. Put it together. It's still it's still sloppiness going on over there. That's a great point. Really great point because it's like they, when they announce those things,
Starting point is 00:50:34 I'm 95, 95% sure that almost everything they announce is going to happen. one might fall out. They've not there's Marvel, Marvel or you're talking about Marvel? Marvel. Like that kind of trust is so sick. It's like they,
Starting point is 00:50:49 they announce these titles and I'm like, we're going to see that. Right. And Star Wars does it and you're like, yeah, okay. Yeah. It's like my uncle.
Starting point is 00:50:57 I'll be there. I'm going to be there at nine o'clock. And then he's like, where's Uncle Mark? Oh, he's not coming. Yeah. I go drunk.
Starting point is 00:51:04 You know my uncle? And, but, but yeah. So it's like, so it's like, that that's that you're absolutely right that trust needs to be gained again and a way to do that is coming up with this concise plan because instead of like the mystery box of the oh we're kind of working on something it's like no let us know what this event like this is the big thing that we're leading up to imagine that they did something like the way that like when fat when uh bikey comes out and says you're getting two avengers movies boom and the screen comes out kang dynasty and then secret wars you're like what the hell is that holy crap everyone. getting excited about it if they threw in like the thron trilogy in a series of movies and a tv
Starting point is 00:51:46 show and all this and planned it out it's like you have it's one of these things where they have the material and that's why i'm saying like when you look at marvel and inside of the the novel excuse me the comic books and all these different things secret wars and all the the the thano stuff and the infinity it was all there in the comics and they brought it to screen now the counter to that people are writing in the comments right now yeah but the differences that that Disney has to pay attention and looks at us to pay attention to Canon because they're not paying attention to Canon. Then if they want to, first of all, they want to maneuver around Canon inside of the novels, they can. And the other thing is that they want to adapt strictly from the book of stuff we've already seen in Canon.
Starting point is 00:52:29 You can because not a lot of people are reading those books. You have the, you have the sect of fans that are watching, but the mainstream fans aren't. So you could put something that you read right off the page, put it right on screen. that's part one. And then there's a lot of stuff that's legends anyway. So you can definitely maneuver around it. So you have all this material. You have all these storylines. Get a big damn room and map out the next five years and put them all in a production. They can do it. And they can do it the same way the Marvel is because they have the material. They've got directors that want to do it. It's still, it's still, it's still a problem in, I think, old school mentality.
Starting point is 00:53:05 What's that? How's that? What is that? It's a Star Wars Newsnet playing. Oh, that's, this is a good song. I thought we were going to do like a commercial.
Starting point is 00:53:17 Yeah. Yeah. But on F-150. What are you thinking? About what their planet. I wish they would, I think that perhaps I'm taking it slower at Comic-Con is a good sign that, like you said,
Starting point is 00:53:33 D-23 might have something. And then their London one might have. have more of a plan because they have been pretty quiet. And I think that that's a good sign in a sense that they might be like really figuring out like taking a look on the inside. Yeah, but it's it's one of the, it's full me once though, you know,
Starting point is 00:53:54 it's like it's so many different times you sat back on. Oh, maybe that we're actually working on the plan now. And there's never really, it's not a plan. It's like you'll get like when you get the Favreau-Felloni announcements, it's like, okay, they, they know what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:54:08 They have it set up. And then it's like, oh, Tykes got a movie. What's it about? Oh, but when's it coming out? We think 2023. Tiger, when's your movie coming out? I'm working on it now. What is it?
Starting point is 00:54:19 I'm kind of working on it. It'll be done. It's like, why do they do this? Yeah, they're like leading with directors as opposed to the story. They did it with Patty Jenkins too. Yes, but same thing with like, but you could say the same thing about Marvel right now. That Marvel is, well, Marvel's leading to directors too, Sam Ramey, Tycoa, T.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Chloe's How. And I'll give you that, but they still had a plan overall that those movies were announced. Yes. It just come out of nowhere and you go, oh, yeah, now Chloe's Al is doing a movie. They know, Eternals is going to happen. This is going to happen. This is going to happen. And it's like if you mapped out and you get and like, and I know that the answer and
Starting point is 00:54:56 the risk is, yeah, but if they map out and they tell you that they're going to have this big plan and then they start canceling things that they did, that's probably what they're terrified of. I get it. But that's why you put the plan. into motion and you say, all right. So what's our plan? Well, we're going to do two plans.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Our first plan is we're going to create the High Republic. And inside the High Republic, we're going to kick off with the acolyte. And then what we're going to do is inside of that, we're going to set up. And I'm just, again, just spip-balling it. But it's like one episode is going to have Amandaela's character discover the Amanda is going to discover the book of the Book of Bain. We're going to see that in flashback. That's going to lead into a five-part series coming in blah, blah, the book of Bain, right?
Starting point is 00:55:42 Or whatever it's called. You know, Book of Bola, Bain. And then, and then it's like, all right. So we do that we, we have the high, the high republic thing. And that's our, that's our one sect. And then we move over and it's like, here's where we're going. And it leads to this big overall event with a film coming out here. And then we're going to go back.
Starting point is 00:55:59 And it's like, if you have all this and it's there, people would lose their minds. Look at, look at, steal it for Marvel. Yeah, it's right there. Look at what they're doing. I mean, all the greats learn from the grates. What are you doing? You've got it. Just open your eyes.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Just keep going. Yes, right there. And don't listen to Mike. He's a moron. A little lightsaber in there. Anyway, all right, look, we got to run. It was a good show. Steph Sabraugh.
