Spider-Man is hyped up. People are excited about it. And the fans are super psyched about it. The ones that already saw it, it's got the highest audience score for any MCU movie ever. I'm going to discuss that. They've talked about certain crossovers. They talked about Venom.

We'll discuss it. Fast and furious might never happen. Too damn expensive. And apparently there's a rumor about, about when David Johnson's Black Panther will actually debut. We'll see if that's true. So we got that. A couple other things with myself and Chris Carr here today.

So let's get into it, everybody. It's a Christian Hav Show here today on this Thursday. Great. Did you shit in there? Good to have you all back here today. We are getting ready for some, we're going to have two massive movies in the theater right now. And both have Tom Holland.

You got The Odyssey and you got Spider-Man brand new day. Spider-Man brand-new day is already looks like it could break records as far as financially, what it's going to do opening weekend. We've been talking about it. And now the fans have already started piling out of the screenings and they're raving about it. So Chris Carr is here and she's going to see it. Yeah. I don't have any cool credentials.

I'm so excited, though. Spider-Man's my favorite superhero. I love him so much. And Tom Holland, I think is such a good spidey. And I'm so pumped, especially after seeing people's, you know,

out of the theater reaction reviews and everything too. I'm really excited about it. I think this is going to be one of your favorites. I think so too. Because I watched yours and I was like, this all works for me. Everything you're saying works for me. I mean,

Sam lost her mind when I took her to see it. But she, it's a, it's kind of what you were looking for. More mature spidey. We've gotten high school spidey. Time to move on. now it's a different even I mean look the way that destiny of creton does action the way that he

kind of plays with the camera when you're almost you see it in the trailer when you're inside spidey's mask as he's falling and it doesn't seem like oh sometimes you get these overstylized shots you're like I get it okay here oh look at it for the 87 times someone bends back and watches the thing that's about to hit them right you see that shot so many times this doesn't feel like that it feels like this is relevant to what's going on right now and And I feel like I'm in the action. I'm in the motion. That's a clever trick to pull off.

Hell yeah. That's awesome. So I think you're going to really dig it. And I'm curious to hear your thoughts. And you're going to check that out tonight. But the fans are digging it. So we'll dive right into it and see what the score is because Spider-Man brand-new day has Rotten Tomato's highest audience score for any MCU movie.

Not just any Spider-Man MCU movie. any MCU movie. Spider-Man Brand New Day's audience on Rotten Tomatoes has been revealed, and it's broken, not one, but two particular records for both the Wallcrawler and the MCU. Early prime video screenings for Spider-Man,

Brand New Day, place in the U.S. yesterday evening. The movie has also been released in several countries overseas, including most of Europe. Critics have had their say, but the audiences are now weighing in, sharing their ratings on Rotten Tomatoes Popcorn Media, as we write this, the WebSlinger's latest movie has debuted with a 98% breaking at least two records.

While the score could and will likely fluctuate in the coming days, Spider-Man Brand New Day is now the highest rated MCU movie ever made in the highest rated Spider-Man movie. Meanwhile, on the critics generated tomato meter, Spider-Man Brand-New Day now is at 91% and has certified fresh status. The critic consensus states spinning a web of spectacular set pieces with mature emotional stakes and Tom Holland's soulful performance, Brand New Day is a promising reset that portents Spidey will remain sticky on the big screen for years to come. All signs point to the movie Breaking Box Office records this weekend. And there's a chance that when All Set is done,

Spider-Man brand new day may gross more than December's Avengers Doomsday. Don't count on that. That would be an incredible achievement further cementing Spidey status as the world's most popular superhero. We'd imagine that Spider-Man 5 announcement is imminent with the movie Shirley eyeing a 2028 or 2029 release. 2028 is bold. Chances are a filmmaker, Destin, Daniel Kretton, will be back at the helm.

that means Shung Chi, too, is probably set to remain on the backburner. Creighton also shared some insights on Tom Holland's creative involvement of a brand new day. He said, I find many actors like this many times. They think of ideas and scenes. It's the same way that my brain thinks. So when Tom pitches an idea, it's not just an idea like, oh, it'd be cool to have this person in the movie, whatever. He pitches the beginning, the middle, and the end of a scene. That's something he knows can play, something that creates a little character arc for him.

So there's a scene towards the end of the movie. I'm not going to say what it is, but it's an incredibly moving scene that has a lot of humor in it. And I remember when Tom pitched that scene in the writer's room and the way he painted the picture, I could see it so clearly. So then we were able to take that idea, write it into the script, and that's what ended up in the movie. I love that story so much. We'll talk about that in a second. Spider-Man, rainy days, everything fans could want. It's emotional, hilarious, heartfelt, it's action-packed, love letters to the comics on one of Spitey's best big screen adventure.

Spider-Man has never been more amazing. That's got to get you hyped up all that stuff, huh, Chris Carr? Oh, my God. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, and especially because, you know, let's call a spade a spade, Marvel movies have not been getting a lot of love as of late. Even the ones that, you know, most people have enjoyed like, you know, Thunderbolts. I know it didn't do well at the box office, but that at least got some critical acclaim but had its faults and everything.

It's so nice to see so many different publications being really behind this, fans being really behind it. I think I only read two reviews where it was a little bit sour. And one, it was just like, I think this guy's in a bad mood because he had to write his review at 3 a.m. Maybe so, because I still said with a quad system, I think, of Rotten Tomato is that won't see how, there's basically anything under a three is not fresh. I don't see, even if you think it's fine, three out of five, I don't see how you give this movie, people can see it, but I don't see how you give it under a three. I just don't.

As far as the way it's directed, acted, everything else, do you go, even if you're like, well, it's a little overcrowded here and there, but the stuff that really works, works, I don't love it. I'll say three out of five. I can't I can't see like oh yeah two I don't see how you do that I don't see how people always talk about critics well critics break down certain things it's not audiences I think are more or have more to to validate if you're going two out of five because they're watching it like like everything people are going okay look you know what

I don't care about the technical shots and this the music I just didn't like it and like the story they like it to me it's two out of five and you're like okay the guy who watches movies and doesn't really care too much. It said two out of five, fine. The critic who breaks down filmmaking, story, music, all of that, I don't understand how that is unless you just want to get your review read to be a little different. Yeah.

And that's what one of the ones. I think I can't remember if I was reading like variety or something like that. And I don't want to misquote anything, of course. But it was just one where it was they were complaining about how they like, they got home so late because of how the review embargo. which that was a very late window. That did make you a little nervous. But what does that have to do with the movie?

But it was just like, buddy, I'm so sorry that you didn't get your sleepy time. How'd you like the movie? Right. What does it have to do with? Take a nap and write it in the next day. Yeah, it was very strange. What does it have to do with anything? It makes no sense.

But anyway. But the audience, as I was mentioning, the audience is now is at like a 98% because when you look again at the way the Rotten Tomatoes does this, people are walking out to me going, all right, yeah, it's really good. enjoyed it three out of five four out of five five five and that's what they uh and and that's when you get that hype and as you mentioned marvel has had um hits and misses lately right but they definitely need a big hit to start to push excitement towards their other stuff this movie does not only build um spider man lore and build out spider man and and make him more mature and give him

more character arc. I do think it's Tom Holland's best performance as Spider-Man hands down. It also paves the way for the future of what can happen inside of this entire Marvel universe and not in a jarring way. You're like, oh, no, well, what the hell? What is this movie? And I want it to be a Spider-Man movie. It, it does. And I think that that is important because as you do get into Doomsday and you do get into these other movies, this to me, you haven't had a good, We haven't had a good setup of continuation of what everything is since, Doom's, I mean, end game.

You had no way home was great. And no way home, I think, ties into this and is part of what I'm talking about here. But the other Marvel movies haven't really built on anything. No. And that was one of the great things about, I mean,

from phase one, from the jump, we were building, you know, to that Thanos level event. We were putting down that brickwork already by having just some references or just him kind of, you know, smiling from the shadows and things like that. So it is very encouraging to hear that this is serving as a catalyst to everything else because

that was one of my concerns going into this as well is, hey, I love Spider-Man, but is this going to be very insular or is this going to shoehorn in some of the greater marble ideas that we need to get to? So I'm really excited that this is hopefully for me when I see it going to get me more excited about Doomsday. Because, you know, I've still been like, I think it'll be fine. I hope I want to be more excited. I'm really I'm excited to be excited. I want this movie to get me pumped. Yeah and I would tell you that I would even I mean I would assume that it definitely helps with doomsday but I think it sets up more so the future of Marvel more than anything else. Heck yeah. Okay. Okay. Is what I think. Um, but you know, people will,

we'll go and check that out and see, but it's encouraging that the audience is checking this out and digging it as well. We'll see what the scores are, or rather the, not the scores, but the box office, once we start to trickle that in. And, you know, you got Tom Holland essentially competing with himself now with Odyssey in week three.

Odyssey's going to have, you know, only have like a 28 or 29% drop last week. It's going to have a significant drop this week because of this movie. Yeah. Go ahead. You're going to say something? Oh, no, I was just agreeing. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm going to see that. I mean, it's still going to, that movie's still fine. And movies more than fine.

It'll still say. Yeah. I still think it lands within the 1.3, 1.4 area because I even talking to my brother this morning, I was like, did you see Odyssey? And I can't say, every time I, I, into it's in Tampa. It's like, every time I go to try to see it in their IMAX, they're all sold out. I said, why don't you see it at another screening, you know, instead of IMAX? He was, I don't want to see it in any of the thing. I don't want to see it in IMAX. So I was like, you should, you should check it out before, you know, don't just wait for

IMAX. And so I think that a lot of people are finding that problem. They're going to, and then I think maybe Spider-Man will actually help, not necessarily with IMAX, but I think was sold out because Odyssey was harder to find. I think now because, you know, I, and it was funny because I said that I didn't think that because it's so similar, you have the similar audiences with Odyssey and, and Spider-Man, not in the same way that Doomsday and Dune are similar audiences, but there's similar audiences, but I do think because it's week three and because it's been harder to find screenings and because I think Spider-Man's going to be sold out, I think they're going to scratch each other's

backs. I think so shoot. Right? Yeah, it's going to have a little Barbenheimer kind of situation here because I know we are still a household divided. I still have not seen the Odyssey because my husband insists we are waiting until we can see it in IMAX because he doesn't want to like, we don't have six or seven hours to go see the movies. So he's like, we're just waiting. We're just waiting so it happens. I'm like, dude, it's been out for like two weeks. I got to see this. And he's like, is the story going to be spoiled for you, Christine? I think you're okay. Right. So we definitely were able to get Spider-Man tickets, though. Those theaters are still crowded, but there's so many showings and everything and so many theater options. And it's not IMAX. And people are clamoring to see Odyssey and Imax. It's like intended to be seen in Imax. And they're sold out everywhere where Spider-Man, like you said, there's various screenings and people can go and check it out. I saw Spider-Man and Dolby. I would highly recommend that. This Sam and I were sitting there watching it and there is a scene and won't spoil it where this consistent thumping happened. And because of the Dolby, it felt like the theater was boom, boom, boom.

And we were like, holy shit. Is this? Like we didn't know with, I'm like, well, I'm not California anymore. There's no earthquake. But it was, it was that kind of, it was great. I love that. I love that kind of immersive experience. It was pretty cool. Nice. Okay. I'll have to double check that our tickets are for that. So that is one Spider-Man story.

We have more Spider-Man stories in just a bit. But before I even get to that, I got to ask you guys what you think about Spider-R, when are you seeing it? So the audience was super supportive. I asked people the same thing that, and then we got a lot of great ideas yesterday. If people are, I'll tell you what I will do today.

I'll do the same thing that I did yesterday. When it comes to the questions about the Kickstarter and the show, doesn't necessarily, when I'm going to highlight, well, PLD is not here. It would be harder for me to do, but I'll still try to do it. And Spider-Man, the producer, talked about a venom crossover. So, one crossover we never really got to see on screen was Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Tom Hardy's Venom. Hardy has seemingly retired from the role and Sony Pictures has effectively shut down its larger Spider-Man cinematic universe. Last year, Hardy-Rourde revealed that a crossover with Holland Spider-Man was actually close to happening at one point, saying that they got close. as I could possibly imagine getting short of doing the film together. He added, he would have loved to have done it. I remember those rumors. Producer Amy Pascal, who had been tied to Spider-Man franchise for decades now,

says she still hopes her crossover will happen someday. She and Marvel Studios chief, Kevin Feigey spoke with the Happy, sad, confused podcast, and were asked how close I got to making the crossover happen. It would be great. Let's put it that way, said Pascal. Feige intervened saying, always have hope, with Pascal then adding, I have hope, we have hope. Pascal did then confirm that an animated venom movie,

is still in the works. As last report, Final Destination Bloodlines duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein were set to direct the animated movie at Sony. Okay, so let me start with this. I love Tom Hardy's one my favorite actors working today. Anything that he does normally, I'm like, what is it? He brings electricity to it. Love it. I don't want anything less than a Ben, Tom Hardy movie and Tom Holland. let's do something new with the character. The character, and they did what they did with that franchise. It has a very, especially after seeing this latest Spider-Man movie, the tone is so significantly different. And it's a buddy comedy, these Venom movies.

And I don't want to see that transfer over. And Tom Hardy seems kind of bored with the role at this point, too. He's on three movies, whatever, two. You can still, don't ignore Venom. He's a massive part of the Spider-Man lore, but it's okay to reboot Venom without Tom Hardy. And you should do that eventually if you're going to do it. And I don't think Tom Hardy is necessary to do a Venom crossover.

I don't know how you feel about this. I mean, I love Tom Hardy as well, and I really enjoy those films, probably more than some other folks, but we did start going down a goofier path with them. And I think we're just like a few thwips away from a Thor Love and Thunder kind of tone at this point. that's not the trajectory that we're on right now.

I always find it so interesting, too, how we just view, like, Venom as, like, one of the top tier intrinsically tied to Spider-Man villains and sorts. Because in comic book terms, he is a relatively new character. He didn't swing onto the scene until, like, 1984. Oh, I thought it was early 90s. I think his very first appearance, like, as the symbiote itself. I'm not going to fight you on that, but I just thought, I just thought, Todd McFarland introduced him in the early 90s, but you,

very well could be right. I think it was early days, but I could be wrong. But it's always so interesting to see that that's like, this is the character we have to have in here. And I do love him. I think he's really, really great. But, and I say this is somebody who's not a horror girlie, I think Venom really works best when he is terrifying, when there is an almost body horror element to him. Yeah. Because there is something so unnerving about not being in control of your own body, right? Not being in control of your own, like, primal instincts, too, because That's the other thing. Venom just feeds on the most base kind of lizard brain things that go on. It really feeds into the id.

And so we see that in the first Venom movie and Hardy does that so well. He plays those kinds of dynamics so, so great. But I think that now that it's become the, hey, the symbiote and Eddie are kind of buds and it's a little goofy. Yes, your pals. Unless you go towards like an agent venom kind of situation where, you know, Eddie is no longer, you know, like doing really like vile things. he is actually working for the greater good of folks. You could maybe kind of bridge that gap over there with him and Tom Holland Spider-Man. But at this point, because we are resetting so much stuff, bring in somebody else,

bring in somebody who could play Venom theoretically for several films. Because that's one of the interesting things. And it's okay inside this whole MCU to recast new things, right? Like Tom Hardy's thing was really part, yes, he showed up in brand new day at the end, but part of the multiverse thing. you bring in whoever that Eddie Brock is from this universe, let them do their thing, whatever it might be,

take its time. And then look, eventually they're going to set up the X-Men and everything too. And the X-Men are going to be brand new. And all these things, it's okay to introduce a new generation to new actors inside of their generation. Right? That's what they're doing with X-Men.

They're going to, you know, from all the rumors, it looks like they're going to be casting younger with X-Men, right? Which is smart to do, to get more. He started casting everybody in, you know, Tom Hardy is in my age bracket, you know, so it's like, you're not going to get a younger generation excited about Venom right away. He's an awesome actor.

Again, one of my favorites, if not in the top five. But I think you need to recast and give new opportunities to new generational actors to get them excited, to get them back in the theater to watch these movies because that age demographic is dwindling when it comes to these, clearly not with Spider-Man. But that's why, especially with Spider-Man, still holding on to that age demographic, then start to cast inside that because, look, guess what? Tom Holland, Zendaya, play to that age demographic. So do the same thing with other people inside of this.

And it could potentially help you revitalize your demographic. Absolutely. We get some fresh faces in there. Again, we kind of go back to like square one of Marvel, you know, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, those were not household names and now look at them. Right. And they were what? And they're 30s. Yeah, they were younger. And also, I mean, just because of the nature of film, you know, I love so many of these other actors. And, you know, I say this is an actor who is, you know, two years out from 40. I wouldn't want to be trying to play a gifted youngster at this point, you know? I don't want to Ben Platt this and be like, hello, my fellow kids. You need some. You need some. some people in there who can age with the films, mature with their audience, and also just have the longevity to be part of a franchise for a good decade, because that really is what you're signing on for when you join a Marvel franchise film.

No, he does not. Oh, no, Mel, we were just talking about venom in general. And maybe I wanted that. Maybe I'm, I've been doing that lately. I might have, Mel, I might have said he shows up at the end of brand new day, but I was talking about No way home at the end when he shows up at the at the bar that trust i i spoiled nothing i promise you uh and hence why they asked him they asked him about uh asked amy pascal about a crossover eventually so yeah i've been doing that a lot when i'm trying to reference um if i bring up no

a home it keeps him brand new day because that's the way so i very well might have said said that and if i did apologies um anyway so i don't really care about that crossover but maybe the audience does so we shall see what they think put your thoughts in there let us know um we're going to stick inside of the comic book realm still but we're going to shift over to the mc u outside of spider-man and recently at uh you you know what's funny is you same thing as roxy i'm going to guess and correct me if i'm wrong you have not seen alien romulus no okay and you have not seen long walk no i've read the long walk. Right. So you and I don't know what's the show guys that that David Johnson is on. So you're not you're not that familiar with him yet. No. Okay. David Johnson is a brilliant,

brilliant, brilliant. And he shines in the long walk and he shines in Romulus. He steals the show in Romulus and he's and it actually would be pretty great to see because there's there's rumors. we know that he's cast as Tchalosome. That has been confirmed. There's rumors that his co-star, Cooper Hoffman is up for one, whether it's Cyclops or somebody else inside the X-Ween universe. There's rumors that Kaylee Spaney,

his other co-star for Alien Romans, is up for Rogue. So that would be pretty great, if that's the case, that they all, this kind of goes back to my point, right? What I was making was, you see how they're casting here,

David Johnson and the new, younger kind of generation, Cooper Hoffman, they're going after, they're going out, whether or not he's in it or not, he's a name that's popping up on a list. Kaylee Spaney, another one. This is what you need to do in order to get, you know, the audience is excited. You're casting old farts in my generation. It's like, you know, we're going to watch. We'll watch them on Disney Plus when they come out or we get our, you know, we get our walkers out and go see it maybe in the theater and then we're exhausted. We were ready to review at three in the morning and complain about it. So this is smart what they're potentially doing. But David Johnson being cast in us. And then who was solid in Mayor of Easttown?

Oh, wait. Was Kaylee Spaney in Mayeravistown? Was she in that? Oh, was she the daughter? Was she the daughter? I don't remember. I'll check. I don't remember.

She's just so good. Every time she's in a show, she's really solid. she was in um oh they're talking no they're talking about um it was in gory yes yes they're talking about saying that she would play a they were playing she could potentially rogue also um um who did i'm so confused i don't know what's happening i don't know what's happening uh anyway let me just do this wait a minute i see what he's doing and i don't like it Baba, Baba. So let's talk about this David Johnson story.

David Johnson, there's a rumor that he's going to debut as to Chala in this movie, this MC movie before Black Panther 3. I'm going to guess and I'm going to say Secret Wars. What do you say? I haven't read this article yet, Chris. Have you read the article already? I have not read the article. Okay.

So you're going to guess and say what? What movie? I would say, probably. Probably Secret Wars. That's a long time to keep a secret for for Doomsday. And they keep, they keep saying he's, he's been in the loop for six months.

It's got to be. It's got to be because it's going to set up, you know, I think it, it comes out right afterwards. I think it's this, this first and then. I mean,

I suppose they always could do a, just like a little insert post credit kind of thing, but it's secret words makes more sense to me. At last weekend, San Diego's Comic Con, the long walk star, David Johnson was announced as the MCU's new Black Panther. Now a new rumor reveals when he'll make his debut as

Tachala, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, ended with the introduction of Tichala and knock his son, Tachala, the junior, at Sineo Comic Con on Saturday night. Marvel Studios announced that David Johnson will lead Black Panther 3 as the new Tachala. He's playing Tchala too, but with Latita Wright sticking around as Shuri, it's unclear whether he'll be betrayed as her nephew or brother. After all, the post-Doomsday, Secret Wars MCU change to the timeline are expected, and this could be among the biggest. How does that work? I think he's going to be the nephew.

I think they already said that. Not a brother. According to insider Daniel Rickman, Johnson is set to make his MCU debut in Secret Wars. This was to be expected, especially after lead concept art revealed Battleworld and New Black Panther last year. It makes sense to put the spotlight on to Chala in Secret Wars as it would serve as a suitable launching platform for Black Panther 3.

talking to screen ran at Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Figey said, I mean, the truth is, this has been a secret. His deal has been done. Coogler had a secret meeting with him five or six months ago and then called me afterward and said, this is him. I feel it and see it in his soul. He's a good man. He's a great man. He's going to bring the Panther to life. I mean, how do you not trust Ryan Gugler? He knows. You know what I mean? He knows. So we said, that's it. What more do you need when Ryan Cougar sees and feels that. And David's movies are awesome. He's awesome in his movies and I think we're just beginning to see what he's capable of.

I'll tell you what he is capable of, keeping a secret for about six months until this very moment. And that was extremely exciting. Johnson has been named as a possibility for the role for some time now, though it looked like dams and Idris, that's what I was hearing up until the day before the damn thing. Might be the frontrunner. However, Cougar told fans in Hall 8 that he cast the new Chachala after seeing Johnson in the long walk, so there was very little to those claims about Idris.

I'm not very little. That's actually not true. But I think it was between the two of them, but Kugler made the decision. I want to say, thank you so much. Thank you, Ryan. Thank you, Kevin. Thank you, this amazing family, the honor and privilege and the blessing to join. So, yeah, I mean, look, that we guessed it right beforehand.

It makes the most sense, right? Yeah, absolutely. Well, I'm coming out of all of the Comic-Con news and everything. It was, you know, she should write. And Ryan Kugler and all these people talking about like, oh, man, yeah, we've been, we've been sitting on this for so long, but not long enough for it to be doomsday. Right. Yeah.

Right. Yeah. And it's, but it's, they, they said it in the article too. And I didn't actually read this portion of it. But when Black Panther shows up in Civil War, it was a great introduction to show, wow, that's, that's, that's amazing. I remember the, the gasps in the, uh, in the crowd, like when he showed up and he made him such a badass. And he's chasing them in the street. And you just get to see what he's all about.

But they don't just introduce him in a, you know, way where it's initially just oh look at him kicking ass no they introduce him with his dad and then the emotional uh incident that shows how badass he can be and then you just really showcased the brilliant acting of the late um oh my god uh chavac bosman so when you're now getting that endorsement from ryan coogler and if you have seen his movies you understand a immediately what he's saying because there's just something like long walk was one of i i i knew nothing about that movie chris when i walked into it i had not read the book i didn't know anything about it i heard something it was like a stephen king thing i didn't know if i was getting a creepy horror movie i knew

nothing about it i didn't want to know anything and i walked in and i and it was one of these things where just was surprised by everybody it was in it and i went oh the guy from romulus i like that guy in in that movie and by the end of it i'm like that's the guy from the long walk and i'm sure i'm going oh that's black panther oh that's it everything he does he just has like he stole the movie in in Long Walk and Cooper is great, but it's David Johnson's movie. I thought he should have been nominated, to be completely honest with you. Dang, okay, because everyone who I talked to did talk about how he was kind of like the beating heart of that film.

100%. That's wonderful. Well, yeah, I just, after reading that book, I was like, I don't think I can see that. Yeah. No, there's some really, really graphic stuff in there. But if you can turn your head away for a little bit, it's worth like, it's not a, it. easy movie to watch. Like it's, it's, it's tough. But like, he's just so magical. I love Mark Hamill and everything too. So I do to watch it streaming. Again, it's always the, I don't want to

be screaming and like making puky noises in a movie. You'll do that for sure. But, but Mark Hamill in there, come on, boys, we only got three miles left to go. His voice is like, it doesn't say that because there's tons of miles left. Anyway, so I'm excited to have him in there. And I think that makes sense that Secret Wars were going to see him. And then that introduction, hopefully will be reminiscent to the way we felt when the first time we saw Bozeman in Civil War. I believe that we will. But I think that and, you know, you did see Chris a great, even people who, you know, we weren't familiar with them. The, there wasn't a lot of, the cast that guy.

There wasn't a lot of that. No. It was, oh, that's a solid actor. Yeah. Because how do you truly, how do you follow up Chadwick Boseman? I mean, that's really, it's, it's kind of. of the same like how do you follow up christopher reaves how do you follow up you know somebody who is such a consummate actor a well-trained incredible actor and and have them take on such an iconic role

um and so i'm so excited that everyone's really behind this guy because of his acting jobs that's really exciting to see yeah me too um oh well i did have a question before you sure sure because the the moment there in the article you know nephew versus uh brother yeah that doesn't make sense Well, do you think they might get all weird in time you want me and try to age him up and be like, baby, Tachala Jr. is now a man or multiple. Well, they're going to do that. So what they said, I mean, it could be a ruse, but what Ryan Coogler, correct me if I'm wrong, chap, but Ryan Coogler said on stage was that the last time we saw, yeah, when our story takes place, he's eight, he's, he's older now, he's doing this. Now, they'll explain that through battle world or whatever it might be. And, um, and the last. they'll do that. You know, they'll explain how you have to. You can't just say, because everyone will ask a question.

Wait a minute. He was like eight years old or whatever he was. Why is that child fighting? Yeah. Yeah. So now what they're suggesting is that they could just because of all of this, it could just be another to Chala. Now, that isn't what I got from that introduction on stage of Comic Con. But like I said, it could be a ruse, but I don't think so.

I think they're going to stick with this with his son. I think so probably. That's what makes the most sense. I mean, it's just the time part of it that's a little odd. I think so. So, all right, let's move on to, we'll get to something outside of the common book realm now. And I wanted to bring this up because I remember I was going to see some screening. And Winston and Mike took over and were doing the show.

And it was actually a famously hilarious episode because they both were like factually just getting things wrong left and right. I was watching on the train and text him. And one of the things that Mike famously got wrong is he said, I can't watch any Luca movies because that guy's doing a full AI movie and I won't watch it. And then the chat is lighting up the chat going, he's not doing a full AI movie. He's doing a movie about anti-AI. He's doing a movie about and lighting up the whole chat.

But then we found out that what it was is that Amazon actually, because they have this deal with AI and everything too, they scrapped the movie. Yes. So Andrew Garfield is speaking about. that now and after after the hunt makes sense that they've been working together he is barely in after the hunt but when he is he you know he's he's he's another one he's just an absolutely incredible actor and so he's he always shines um so it doesn't surprise me lucca

luka was wanted to work with him again back in mid-june amazon mjams studios made headlines for dumping luca guadernino's movie artificial the film looks into the meteoric rise of open a i the company behind chat GPT, alongside with the personal rivalries, ego clashes, and ethical tensions beyond the scenes. I mean, it looks like, you know, like a, what's it, the Facebook thing again? What's it? Social media. What's it called? Social network, yeah.

Yeah. The cast includes Andrew Garfield as current CEO, Sam Altman, Europe Borceroff as machine learning engineer, Ila Sudzzek, Eich Berenholz, as Elon Musk, that's interesting, along with Monica Barbaro. I mean, this is a hell of a cast. Cooper Hoffman, Associate Mamet, Chris O'Dowd, Cooper Koch, Billy Lord, Jason Schwartzman, and Mark Rylance. Garfield, out promoting the magic faraway tree, has now spoken about Amazon's decision to abandon what was nearly a finished project, not long after the shopping giant committed to a $50 billion investment to Open AI. Well, there you go.

Garfield tells variety, I was, and I wasn't surprised, but I won't go so far as to be critical of Amazon's conduct, he added, because I want to get hired for a job. He didn't say that, but there were nothing but supportive and nothing but encouraging what we were making the film. He adds that both he and Guadino have maintained strong relationships with Amazon executives and calls to split a simple mismatch. There are certain things at certain places and don't fit at other places.

He says he's also thankful the studio helped the film Land Where Truly Belonged. Okay, Neon picked, that was my next question. Neon picked up the $40 million budget film with plans for awards qualifying run later this year. Okay. That's a happy story, I think, at the very end of it. it was going to be another kind of like Batgirl story where Amazon just got rid of. It's found a new home, which is really exciting.

And frankly, Amazon doing a film that is, you know, a, I can't say anti, and I can't scathing yet because these things haven't come out. Right. But if it is going to be of that social network kind of tone and mentality, I don't think it's going to be the kindest look at Sam Altman, who is friendly with Jeff Bezos. And both of them obviously are more on the sign of being aligned with artificial intelligence. These are two people who continue telling all of us that it's all inevitable and we have to submit to it. So it makes sense that this would be a weird home for any movie that wasn't going to be very pro all of that.

Yeah. And it's it is. It's the social network. This looks like it's going to be and awesome because Garfield was in that as well. And Luke is just that kind of filmmaker where like he's going, he's going to go for the truth of it all. Right. And so it makes sense business wise, though. It does for Amazon to say, yeah, no, we don't want to piss off our 50, you know, we just made this huge deal.

We're not going to piss off our new partner for a movie that could get awards. That's really not our business in general. It's fun for us. We'd like to do this stuff on the side, but we can make, we make money this way. So we'll help you. And they did. And they helped them go to, like, if they just scrapped it, put it away and said, no, we don't want you telling stories about our new partner now. that's then you go.

That's really kind of lame. But they go, like, you don't want to shit on our new partner, but we'll help you go tell the story somewhere else. You know, I'm not one to say it often, but it's an integrity move on Amazon's part. It is. You know, you got to, whenever I shit on them, I also have to give them their flowers. So look, this was a really, really classy thing to do when they didn't have to do it.

And so it's also different, right? But it's also different from where, from, it shows you the division. I don't think there's really ever been too much complaints about the Amazon on film department. People who are over there, like the way they run things. What they're making is phenomenal stuff. Sometimes where you go,

that's from Amazon. Television, movies, other things, they take risk. They do big budget things. They do Christmas movies. They do smaller things.

I mean, they've been trying to become an actual, you know, a movie studio. And it's working because, look, another movie, smaller movie that's coming out that I can't wait to see.

Probably my most anticipated movie right now is I play Rocky and that's an Amazon film. Yep. They're doing a lot of really cool stuff. and a lot of things that do have a lot of social commentary, which again, when you just think about the parent company is the moment where you go, from them, okay, interesting, interesting, but they're their own their entity.

They're their own thing. And what I like about what Amazon is doing right now, like I said, you can do something like after the hunt. You can do something like I play Rocky. Like I didn't love He Man. A lot of people did and they just did that. And that's performing very well for them right now because they were smart on that as well.

What they could have done, another move, I pat them on the backboard. what they could have done, a lot of people do is they just put it, okay, look, it just came out. Now it's going to be on Amazon first. You got to rent it for $19. And then it'll be on prime. They said, no, it's a prime movie. It's on prime now.

Oh, so smart. Right to prime. And it was the number one movie. I was, you know, because I got it, when I'm watching these with Sam, I rent these movies, like, I'm going to rent this movie again. I'm like, no, it's on prime. I'm on there. Great.

And smart, smart move in general. So I think Amazon and Apple are really doing it right right now. When you look at the shambles that like the mess that the Paramount and Warner Brothers thing is in right now and, you know, Disney's trying to get a hold of all their stuff. And here's Amazon and Apple just going, we're good. Yeah. It helps that they have FU money. FU money. But also like they put it back into what they're doing though.

You know, you see you see a company like Disney have great success with. their Pixar films, you know, Toastray 5, just doing fantastically, hey, let's lay off a ton of our Pixar animators. Let's lay off a ton of our VFX team and admit to using, you know, shortcuts for our VFX now. They could be championing people. And you got to give it to Amazon and Apple for doing that of going, no, let's keep funneling the money in. Let's keep pushing this. So we can have the best quality product. Because they don't have to worry about losses. That's true. But the thing, but very true, but it doesn't mean you can make shit. It's like you can only run, you can don't have to worry about

losses, but you can only run if their stuff is quality, right? And so when you're looking at it, you're going, wait a minute, you know, what is, is this going to be good? And when it delivers, and especially Apple's really delivering. So, oh, yeah. And you got to remember, too, guys. I mean, again, just to do the comparison here, Disney didn't take a, like a bath on Toy Story. They made money on Toy Story. And then they went, you know who we can lie off? A bunch of our team behind that. Yeah. So, so like Amazon and Apple, I'll commend them on that. They're, they're doing. that side of the business really, really right. There you go. All right.

So that being said, we're going to now jump to another outside of the realm of comic movies and all that stuff, too, big action franchise. And that is the Fast and the Furious. I feel like everybody's been dumping on this movie lately. They had, who's the active place, Han in the Fast and Furious movies? Oh, you know, I don't know. Unless they played Hobbs or Shaw, I don't know.

one someone tell me the actor's name and he was in he was in um the obi one series too um he was getting um interviewed recently and um he was talking about it lost its way doesn't even know what it is anymore or something and so people have been taking shots of this movie kind of left and right and now no not tyrese he didn't play hon um anyway someone tells me someone will tell me soon but nonetheless there's more stuff here for the final fast and furious is too expensive what they're saying um now who's that i don't know who that is that one of that's i don't remember the last movie a few weeks back confusion arose over whether fast forever had begun filming or not due to bin diesel's posting a video would appear to be a garage tile set with dominic charto's

1970s Dodge Charger RT visible. He didn't indicate what he was working on, but he dressed at his Tureto character and simply said he was on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working. It was subsequently revealed that filming was a promo for the World Cup. Some saw it as a potential maneuver tied to the film, which is set for a March 2028 release and is supposed to start production later this year.

That theory has now gained more weight following comments from Reacher star Alan Richardson on the happy, sad, confused podcast this week. Richon who appeared in Fast X tells the outlet that Universal and Diesel are currently solving some big problems related to the final film, a lot of it tied to budget. This is the guy you want on your show to find out all everything. He does not listen to anyone who says, hey, don't say that. Ellen Richardson was like, hey, you playing Batman? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we signed the deal.

I love how completely unmedia trained he seemed, though. It's delightful. Completely. Completely. They're screaming and yelling about the Epstein files in the middle of the interview about this. It's just, okay. I know a lot.

We have conversations all the time. I'm a big part of those conversations. There's a lot of obstacles. It's expensive to make. It's too expensive. It doesn't make a lot of sense. There's more efficient way to shoot these shows. And so there has to be a way to show restraint while also honoring the fact that this world

has expanded something humongous. We are at the crossroads of something very hard. to figure out and everybody's figuring it out. There's going to be another one. It's going to be great. Just a matter of solving some big problems. No cast for the new entry has been announced. Louis Oetier is expected to return, though not confirmed as well as the director while last reports. Michael Les was writing the script. It has made fairly clear in past reports, the film is going to have to have a smaller budget than the $379 million that fast acts end up costing. There's no world where that last movie should have cost that much. It's insane.

It's insane. The movie made like $800 million and like either lost money or barely broke even. I think it lost money. It's insane that movie cost that. I mean, they just reported that the new Avengers movie is 400 million or something like that or less. I can't remember what it was. You can justify that. You can justify it. You can't justify this, especially when it barely breaks even. and maybe because the previous ones hit the billion dollars, but the life of the franchise is hanging on right now. And Vin Diesel isn't really the movie story he thinks he is. He's good in these roles, but I think he thinks he's a bigger story than he is.

And you've got to be able to scale. You've got to make this next movie. You want to turn a big profit on this. You make it for $150 million. Find a way to do it. I just, and I say this is a person who, again, has all, seen Hobbs and Shaw. I'm so confused by the everything of this franchise. Mostly, I mean, it started out as you know, a very like point brink car ring situation. Yeah. And then I believe in the ninth one,

they went to space. Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For brief, so actually what what they did, I thought that was actually brilliant was because the first movie and the second movie, they're, you know, like a point break thing like you were saying. And then, you know, it kind of, the third one doesn't even have Vin Diesel in it. And the fourth one is kind of where it starts to change. By the time you get to the fifth one, it turns into a big, huge action franchise, right? Outside of that point break type of thing. And it really was a brilliant idea because it turned it around and it flipped everything.

And it changed, you know, the tone of it. And then the sixth one, same thing. then once you get past there, it starts to get into superhero. Nobody can die type territory thing where you're taking cars and driving them off one building and landing onto the next one. And, you know, the stakes get lower. That's the power of family, baby. It's 100%.

But it's, and then like you said, they go to space and they do these things. And it's like, okay, there's only so long that the audience is going to go, this is still fun. And if you don't have the audience going, we want to see what comes next. You cannot spend that kind of. money on this movie. You can't. And so the studio, again, this is back-to-back stories where you and I, I think, are going to be taking the studio side here. The studio has every right to go, listen, we gave you $3.70 for the last one, and we lost money. And we made $800 million. And we lost money.

You cannot make this movie. This is your, this is what you hit. This is it. You have $200 million. You go over that. We're not making the movie. That's it. Oh, well, I need this. I don't give a sure what you need. You're not making it. No. This is the kind of studio interference I can mess with of how much do you want to spend? No. No, we're not doing that. Because honestly, too, like necessity helps you so much. A tight budget helps you so much. Rain in a story and actually figure out what are the major set pieces. What are our non-negotiables? When you have sometimes the FU money, then just Fs up your whole program, you know? And, and, if you're not investing wisely and you're just going, we're going to do this and we're going to have this blow up.

And then Vin's going to break a car in half. I don't know. You know, like, you know, you want to get back to the actual story here too. I always look at it like this. Look, I love, I know people love Terminator 2 and I love it too, but I like Terminator 1 the best. And I like Terminator 1 because of the constraints that James Cameron had and what he had to make work and what he had to do in order to really bring that story of life in that 1984, classic science fiction. horror film, right? And he had to like really rely on characters and his story and everything else. He was he was handcuffed to say, figure a way. Figure a way to do it. This is a very small movie and make it big. And he did. And that's just one example. There's tons of examples of people who are just like, I mean, shit, man, look at obsession. Look at obsession. Obsession did what they did. First of all, not only did they make that movie for $750,000. It does not look like a movie. that was made for $750,000. It looks like it was made for $10 million. It is beautifully shot.

They used every dollar the right way. And they even saw some of the behind the scenes of certainly practical effects and things that they were doing. And it's like you make, filmmakers are supposed to be challenged and they're supposed to like find a way to, what makes you great. Not just filmmakers. Like any business or any, any, any field. You want to be challenged to see like what makes the great's the great. And that. to me when you like you said you go well here here's here's here's here's 70 million dollars to make this movie oh great then you know what let's fly everybody out to Vegas first class and do this do that and money goes I'm

telling you right now you want I was talking about like the for like the Kickstarter someone asked like you know oh is so is are you doing because we're raising we're trying to raise 350 for for the pilot and they're like 350 for the for the pilot it's like the pilot the pilot the people don't know where the cost come that's just for the the pilot and that and that it for a pilot on television is cheap when I told I told a few people and I was like what are you trying to raise and that that's it for a pilot I know because you go into cast you go into locations you go into um you know the crew and other things and next thing you know you look at and it's gone and if you have three hundred seventy million dollars you're looking

and you go oh well well let's use that for this let's say that you overspend on things you don't need to overspend on exactly Exactly. And it just makes you, it makes you irresponsible. And the only irresponsibility I want to see on that screen is the driving. A hundred percent. So do you guys think this is going to happen? Do you think that we're going to see it or is it never going to happen? And will it be 87 years old the time they make the next one?

Also, what has helped you avoid working with clicking people in the industry since that is a constant thing I run into? What's helped me avoid it is acknowledging it, right? And seeing it.

Um, by you can't, well, in this business, you can't really avoid it. It's, because even when you, so one of the reasons I don't like to work at places. I like to work for myself because you inevitably always run into that kind of shit, no matter what business or what you're into. So I'm with you on that. I hate it. I always hated it. It was really, you know where it really was a thing that has still a PTSD from it was, um, was

WWE. You talk about clicky. Holy shit. That was rough. Um, but as far as feature film goes, You know, I wouldn't, first we got to have an idea, which I assume that you do. You got to have the idea. You got to map it out.

What I always do, and this is not for everybody, but I listen to music. And I have the idea on my head and I just kind of write some scenes and stuff down. And then Chris, just write some. Don't, you know, as far as like when it comes to being scared, you don't have to show it to anybody. It's for you at first. And then if you're really proud of it, send it to somebody. I'll have someone you trust read it. But just lose yourself in the world.

Work with your own people. Work with everyone else. I'm so lucky because the voiceover world, I have met like one voice actor who was very gatekeeperie. And everyone else I have met is always like, how can I champion you? How can I help? So it's a great community.

But in filmmaking, you kind of have to do form your own click. You have to do your own thing. Write down your ideas as they come to you. Don't worry about already. writing your script in a linear fashion, write the scenes when they come into your mind. And then just know, your first draft bud is going to be dog water. All right.

It's not going to be good. And that's great because it's going to be the worst version of what you write. Yeah. It's only going to go up from there. Yes. And there's going to be things in there that you're going to take with you on the next one. Right? Let me, because like, thank God that I wrote that first draft of the of the pilot, right?

Because it, it, it's sad. I mean, look, there was different. There was one version. It was a long time ago that just didn't work. There was another one that almost worked. There was one that definitely didn't work. And then I scrapped it all. Went and did my own thing, wrote the whole thing.

And even that version, which I liked, that got forwarded the vision of it to Martini when she read it. We scrapped that whole thing. The whole thing, but we kept the essence of what the story was about. And then we wrote our own version. So it just, you just grow with what it is. You've got to trust in your gut. All right.

Absolutely, yeah. I think that's the way you have to do it.

You can't just go, and here's Miles Morales. Right. I mean, it works the way they did it in the, like, into the Spider-Verse films. But because we haven't established Peter in our universe who has been our Spider-Man, you got to introduce him to have that mentor-mente relationship. Yes. And it's also, they have a step up now. Like, if you would have just showed Miles out of nowhere and just like comic book fans

would have known him, it might not have worked as well. But because the beyond the Spider-Verse movies, Spider-Verse movies, people are going to be kind of waiting for him. When you, when you have, I'm bored, is it because you are pursuing an idea that is not interesting to you or because the idea of writing is boring? Because if it is a, I don't like, where this idea is going, I don't like this. Genuinely, like, stream of conscious right. Follow where that thought takes you. See what else happens here.

You can also always implement what's called the Pomodoro technique. This is something I do a lot. So this is work for 25 minutes, take a break for five minutes. I also never like sit down and write and then immediately go into an edit. Same way that I do an audition and I do not go into an edit. I take a break. I walk away from it. I do something fun for myself.

And then I come back to it so I can be more objective as opposed to fatigued from doing the task. Also, if there is another new project, that idea, definitely pop that down, pop an idea notebook of next idea here and tab that out or however you like to organize things. But just really ask yourself where the boredom is coming from. And if it's boredom because of what you're writing or if it is a, this is tedious, I don't feel like doing this. And that's when we just have to power through. If you need to come up with a reward system for yourself as well. Once I hit this chapter, once I have this outline done, I get this. I get to do that. And even try working in different places. It's one of the reasons why y'all will see me at Universal Studios

working out of the three broomsticks because working in a new place a lot of times re-energizes me and gives me different like ideas and people watching helps me. And so that's something too that really just gets those creative juices pumping. Great answer and a great question because look, we all get there and we also get stumped. Same stupid answer I gave before too is what I do sometimes when if I get a little stumped as I put on my headphones, I'll listen to particular music and see if whatever it was stumping me or whatever it was like, oh, what if a scene happens with that because the music kind of inspires me. But again, I'm, I'm very, I'm very like, music, like music helps me do everything, right? So a music playlist for your writing, though, is so smart.

That's what I have. Things that be really good for you for voiceover though, too, Christian, is having, like, tracks to go with your, like, characters. Yeah. It might help you a bunch because you're so good at voices. That might just give you that extra little bit of Hutzpah. It's so funny that I, I really need to work with you more on voiceover. I gave up on the stuff that I was trying because people were like, oh, you have good voice. You were doing this? She would do.

I should try a voiceover stuff. And I did a couple things and got like a couple. I don't remember what we sent it to one voice agent. Whatever, whatever they said. And I was like, yeah, get it. I got turned down for years. And then. No, I'm sure.

It was, it was what you, but it was one of those things where I was like, oh, yeah, I'll try it. But it wasn't one of these things like, I want to pursue it. You know? Yeah. For sure. Upside down, Asia Butterfield seems to have been around for years, but he's only 29. If you were to cast him in the DC or MCU, who would he be?

Yeah, it was just something I started doing as like a teenager in Houston and then started going into comedy clubs when I legally could and kind of went from there. I kind of did get burnt out just because, for those who you don't do stand up, you do these things called bringer shows. Your time is really dependent on how many people you get in the audience. And, you know, that would oscillate for me getting, you know, 30 people to come see me in the Viper room. And then I maybe would have like Logan in the audience. And then my time would get cut or I'd get bumped or other things would happen. And I just got really sick of the bringer thing after a while. And that's part of it.

You got to pay your dues and everything. But I just hit this wall where I was doing comedy, you know, several times a night. and ended up spending so much money to, like, get my people there of like, I'll buy you guys your first round. I'll do this. Like, come here and I'll get you that. So I really love doing stand-up with this crew of just being able to, like, pop in and hang out. That was so much fun. Yeah, it was fun.

Yeah. And my family has changed. The Ice House actually asked me back for our crew to do it. I know it just doesn't live there anymore. But like, but he was like, let me know. Next time you guys want to do a show. And it's just, I don't want to put too much on my plate, but it's not, it's not something that's out of the rumble possibilities.

And then the first movie I ever did with her, and I've known Sam for so long, she's really funny. She had a big personality. She's the most honest person you're ever going to meet in your life.

And people love her, like just, they've always happened. She just got that kind of personality. And the second we watched Logan together, and I said, she's, and it's funny you say that, too, because I was literally thinking about that today. she's just so natural on camera. started to get, we, we were going to make it. We were just going to do. something we're just going to throw it on the channel. We're just going to do, we're going to say, you know, we'll make something, we'll make it for whatever, the $10,000 and we'll just put it on the channel. And that's what we're going to do. And then we started getting some real buzz on the script. And then we took it to someone in the business that's really established. And when they responded and wanted to get involved, it got even more real.
