The Kristian Harloff Show - Star Wars: Starfighter Director Reveals New Details For Starfighter!!
Episode Date: August 19, 2026Mike Kalinowski and John Rocha are taking over The Kristian Harloff Show today to break down the biggest movie and entertainment news! The main conversation turns to Star Wars: Starfighter as director... Shawn Levy reveals a major detail about the state of the galaxy following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — there is reportedly "no governing order." What does that mean for the future of Star Wars? Mike and Rocha discuss how Starfighter could reshape the post-Skywalker Saga era, what a galaxy without the New Republic or another central government might look like, and whether this gives Lucasfilm the opportunity to take Star Wars in a completely new direction. Plus, Fast Forever is reportedly targeting a December production start as the Fast & Furious franchise prepares for its next chapter. The writer of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has also spoken about the recent Supergirl movie following its $125.8 million theatrical run and what the experience could mean for the future of the DCU. And could Zack Snyder return to the world of 300? A new report claims the long-discussed 300 prequel TV series may be heading to Netflix with Snyder attached to direct. Mike and Rocha discuss what a return to the franchise could look like and whether Netflix is the right home for the project. Today's show is headlined by the future of Star Wars and the first major clues about what the galaxy looks like after The Rise of Skywalker. Mike and Rocha discuss whether removing a central galactic government could give Lucasfilm a fresh start and what that might mean for Starfighter and future Star Wars movies. alone i'm very excited i'll be hosting it with mr mike cal and mr cook as he's coming to be
known around these parts lately for sure uh but we're going to be jumping into a lot of dc stuff we're
talking about supergirl news talking about david carmholtz talking about sebastian stand is he playing
harvey dead he's not playing harvey dead i know there was a conversation uh they had yesterday
with Roxy, Mike and Roxy
had, but we're going to clarify that and see what happened.
There's been some additions and changes the story.
We're also going to talk about that 300 prequel story
that I dropped the other day.
And we're going to talk a little fast forever
and some Star Wars stuff.
So we got a lot to get into today.
And I hope you all are doing well.
So let's not waste any time because, you know,
it's me and Kalinowski.
You know it's going to be fire and a lot of fun.
So let's get it on here on the Christian Holobov show.
Yo!
What's up, everybody?
Wake the F up.
It is Wednesday.
I know.
It's a struggle. You're almost at Friday, and you're like, you're going to get through the...
This is like the last part of the workout. You've got to get through the workout.
Thursday is the cool down and Friday you get to go home. That's how it works.
So thank you all so much for hanging out with us here on a Wednesday on the Christian Harlov Show.
Christian, you know, is off this week because he's handling stuff with his TV show and taking meetings and doing all the things he's doing
and getting ready to launch that Kickstarter. Don't forget, Kickstarter might lead us to a Shmowdown tournament.
Who knows if we get enough money, or he gets enough money rather, by the time that thing launches and gets to a certain
spot we might be having a 16 person i'm not going to say 16 man 16 person movie schmodeau
tournament uh which would be a lot of fun for sure so we will see but let's bring in the well i guess
pld couldn't i couldn't stand seeing me on looking alone so pld brought in mike kalnellski
joined me what's up mike how are you brother man good feelings like i fuck this guy's talking too much
i know right and i mean i'm here for the two of you i don't care that i'm here please i'm here
just watch the two of you go at it you're you're you're a you're a blast
me, how have you been, man? How are things? What's going on? I don't know.
My, my fucking anxiety is going up.
You start talking Schmodeon and shit. We talked about
that the other day and I'm like, no,
I can't. I can't.
It's good.
We're getting,
we're getting too old, man, to remember all that stuff.
And then the emotion, the exhaustion.
Exactly. I was talking to Roxie. I was like, I haven't
watched movies for Schmodon level in like
five years, six years. Yeah. Yeah.
You guys don't know the anxiety. It does.
I don't know, man. I don't know.
Maybe if it's a good cause, maybe.
Yeah, they get a joy out of it because they get to watch us go at it,
but we're in pieces.
It's getting ready and then getting on that stage.
I don't even know how it would work and wasn't the big complaint that we were like,
when we did it online, people were complaining all the time about how it was online.
So I don't know how it would work, but you can figure it out and pony up some dough for us to be on it.
That's right.
Maybe we'll see.
What's going with you, man?
Are you booking anything?
Are you working on anything?
Anything new happening?
Oh, shit.
What's the deal here?
She's good.
She's good, man.
Um, you know, the industry's like kind of slow right now.
You know, here and here and there things, uh, but works good.
Like day works good.
You know, starting to purge over at Universal.
Oh, nice.
The Halloween Horn Nights are doing that.
And so yeah.
Right.
Are you going to be there at night to do the purge stuff?
Yeah.
Yeah.
My old ass, I'm like, right now I'm doing like over, I'm doing like universal like the day ops
into the show at night.
Oh.
I like here.
I leave here at like noon and I get home around two in the morning.
And like, I woke up this morning and like last night.
I'm like, I'm too old for this.
shit, man. I used to love it. When I was younger, 30s, 40s, I was like, bang, man, let's do this.
Oh, let's go for drinks. Let's do this. And now I'm like, ah, my fucking back.
It happens. How do you, I have to ask you before we get into this way? How do you stay in the shape that you stay in, man?
Because, I mean, it's very tempting at Universal to eat, you know, bad food. You get that cafeteria.
I haven't worked there for two years. You could eat your heart's desire there. So do you have a, like, do you bring your food?
Oh, no, I bring my food. Oh, yeah, yeah. I was talking, yeah, Roxy. I like meal prep at the beginning of the week.
So I bring like three.
And, you know, I, I was talking, Roxy, my, I'm very easy to eat boring.
Like chicken and rice, broccoli and rice, chicken and, or beef and broccoli.
Right.
Yeah.
You keep your stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Don't give me wrong.
I love.
So then I come home.
So that's my problem.
That I come home last night at two in the morning.
I'm like, oh, I really put it in a good work today.
I was like, oh, I got some drumsticks, ice cream cones in the fridge.
Well, these are small.
I just have two of these.
Two in the morning.
I'm like, oh, fuck.
Yeah, man.
That's the game.
How's Lady Outlaw doing?
How's Lady Outlaw doing?
It's good.
Yeah, she's good.
Yeah, we went for an hour walk yesterday.
We're trying to walk more after dinner.
That's our old asses.
So we're trying to do love more and more after dinner.
It's nice.
Yeah, yeah.
That's the thing as I've been older,
I was like a nice good walk.
Good walk in my comfortable shoes.
But listen, we're here to talk about entertainment stuff, not old man cinema.
So we got a lot of stuff to get into.
So thank you all so much for joining us here.
Over 200.
I'll be joining us right off.
bad. Don't forget Super chats are really important.
Send them in as you go along. Mike and I rarely
do a show together so you know we're going to
have some fun. So send us a big one.
Send some questions, thoughts and comments for sure. It is
a big one. So let's get into the first story
though, Mike. Let's jump in a little Star Wars action.
This just came out with
Starfighter, of course, having that trailer drop
over the weekend at D23.
The director here
revealed the post rise of Skywalker
Galaxy has, quote, no governing
order. Sean Levy here
talking about this. Star
War Starfighter will take the franchise into previously unexplored territory,
and filmmaker Sean Levy has now revealed new insights into the state of the galaxy five years
after the events of the rise of Skywalker.
He said after the movie was showcased the D-23 on Friday night,
Levy explained that the Battle of Exigal left the galaxy in a much bigger state of upheaval
than when the rebellion vanquished the empire.
It seems the resistance has failed to step up to fill the void again, left by the first order,
leaving a lawless galaxy with no one calling the shots.
He said it's a period of time that's never been on screen in any Star Wars story.
And to create that, to play around and explore what is the future of the galaxy,
it was incredibly fun.
Our characters and Starfight are on the wrong side of the galaxy.
It's about these sort of marginalized outsiders who find each other and have a shot at discovering heroism through their connections.
He also said that he was essentially referencing the outsiders when he put this thing together,
which is very interesting as well.
And he said, this is the moment in the galaxy where there is no sort of governing enforcer or order.
And so everyone is just trying to survive.
everyone's just trying to do their best to get by.
Ryan Gosling's character,
Cade A. Auberon, I guess,
is from the wrong side of the galaxy
and did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth.
So, Mike, you hit the comment.
Sean Levy, what are your thoughts on this?
Do you like what he's saying?
Do you like the idea of this kind of lawless order going on
right after yet a second rebellion?
And they still can't get a hold of the galaxy.
Your thoughts in this book.
Now, do they, because you said they dropped the trailer D23.
You didn't go right, did you?
I did not.
No, not this time.
I'm just curious like I'd love to see a trailer I'm excited for this I just you know we
Harloff and I talked for years on on Sith Council like wanting Star Wars away from the
Skywalker's away from everything that we know and just right I saw I think feel that you might
be able to correct me I think they showed a picture of his starfighter that got online which
looked really cool did it feel the yeah that look cool yeah that that starfighter look great so
I mean I like I like Brian Gosling I think he's so charismatic and I love
watching him. So I mean, maybe, like, I didn't see Mando and Grogo. I still haven't seen it yet.
But I definitely will catch this one in the theater just because alone of the two of them and
the concepts. But, you know, I kind of have a feeling I know where it's going to go towards
the ends. I'm like, right? Right. He's going to pop up and Ray's going to come with the hood.
And she's like, oh, he's my trainee. Come and may the force be with you. And he's like, all right,
I'm out. Do you buy, though, the other night, the other day when Adam Driver was at Sheperton
studios, it's got the tongues wagging. Do you think you'll show up?
was like a force ghost.
I mean,
and there's rumors about them doing the movie,
you know,
what's his face?
Follone was a little,
yeah,
he teased a little bit.
The way they call it the hunt.
Is it the hunt for Ben Solo?
Yeah,
the hunt for Ben Solo,
yeah,
exactly.
Yeah,
I don't think so.
You know,
Shepard is a big studio and,
yeah,
I don't know,
man.
It's good,
I think.
But my concern with this is,
here we go again
with another rebellion
in the Star Wars universe,
and once again,
the rebels can't seem
to take control
the galaxy, right?
Like the first time,
they let the first order pop up again and get strong.
And so not this time.
They're like,
we're not going to put any government in place.
We're just going to get rid of Palpatine
and then we'll see what happens.
So it becomes like a Wild West type of situation,
which I guess works,
but I'm not sure.
You know,
it's funny because I just read your tweet
that you did this morning about Richson
and what he's been saying.
And I'm like,
this damn rebellion can't get their shit together.
But then I look at us as people,
I'm like, we can't get our shit together as people.
Like we want to.
It's a good point.
and rise up.
But we never can get there.
And the same people keep coming back.
And so maybe this first order,
they're just kind of taking a page out of the world and just going,
you're right.
That's such a great point.
That's such a great point, Michael,
because you're right.
Because, like, you know, it's like,
let's rise up, let's fight.
Wait, what do you believe in?
Oh, no, I don't want to rise up and fight with you.
I want to rise and fight.
Oh, yeah.
It's a great point.
Yeah.
So, and he seems like,
Cade, the guy doesn't seem like he's going to be leading a rebellion
anytime soon.
No, no.
I mean,
He seems like in the vein of solo, so I don't know, man.
Right.
Are they going to be repeating the same beats as solo?
And will this be like, kind of like Force Awakens but for solo?
Like it feels a little bit possible here.
It just seems like Star Wars has this thing now.
It's like everything is lone wolf and cub.
Everything.
Right.
Right.
Season vet with the new cute guy and a cute thing.
And I'm like, we just did this man on Grogo.
Now we got kind of a swashbuckly guy carrying a kid around the galaxy.
But, I mean, they're tropes and they work.
Yeah.
do it good. Hey.
I did want to go in there that
Faloni actually brought that up reportedly
into the Lucas film and Disney Plus.
He was like, are we,
should we do another lone,
Wilhelm Cub kind of storyline, supposedly?
Oh, wow.
That was his, that was his question.
So I think he might know that ahead of time.
So maybe he might try to add a little twist on it
to make it more worthwhile potentially.
Yeah.
We're seeing that all over the place, right?
Isn't Onslaught the one that just gets got about to come out,
like it's him protect, her protecting her daughter?
Like there's just that kind of,
I just saw a trailer today
for a new A24 film
coming out with this actor who is like
discovers he has a son, has to protect his son.
So it's always, it's just the
cliche, I hear you. I hear you on the lone wolf and
cup stuff, but what's going to make it different? What's going to make it
unique? I imagine it's the chemistry between the two actors.
Yeah. Because you know, Grogu doesn't
really speak. So you've got the, that's a new
dimension here in this situation.
Right. Is it going to lead to
Ray and the Jedi order, which it seems like it's going to
go that direction.
I know.
The question becomes,
can they get it right,
you know?
Yeah,
I,
I don't know, man.
I think it's,
it's a lot of questioning.
Do you want to stick?
They really seem to like that sequel trilogy.
I want to stick to that.
So.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's,
that's,
yeah.
What do you,
what do you thoughts on Sean Levy
taking over ghost?
Well,
we haven't talked about that ghost
you know,
like it or no.
Yeah.
I'm kind of,
I don't want to say,
I'm indifferent to Sean Levy.
Like,
I don't have a feeling one
or the other.
Like,
Deadpool will,
Wolverine was a great time in the theater.
Like I saw that.
We saw it.
We saw ComicCon.
Yeah.
Comic Con.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it was the great people and the great environment.
I had a blast.
I don't think I've watched it since.
You know,
hey, you know why?
Because I'm not doing the fucking schmowdown.
And I don't have to know how many times Gambit says,
oh, go, go to make a name for myself open here.
You know, I don't need to see that shit anymore.
Two points on.
How many cards?
What's up?
What'd you say?
2.7 times.
Oh, yeah, exactly.
But like, I don't, I don't not like his films.
Right.
What I say this is, he did real steel,
which I think is completely underrated.
Right.
So, and he seems to have that,
like him and Gosling is,
if you got a director that you guys just click with,
I love that.
I love watching that because there's this,
you know,
you got your shorthand,
you enjoy each other,
so it just brings out the best in each other.
So, yeah, man, I think,
yeah, I think he's more fit for,
Star Wars than Marvel.
Like his type of like fun and and yeah,
I just think it's a better fit for Star Wars than I do Marvel.
I think you're 100% right.
Yeah.
I think it is a better.
His style is a better fit for Star Wars than it is for Marvel,
especially for a character like Ghost Rider, right?
Because I think, as you said, like Deadpool War Vien is a fun time in a theater.
Right.
It's not like a groundbreaking movie or you go back one of the classics.
Yeah.
But it's fun, right?
So, yeah, I don't know how he's going to do that with.
Do Ghost Rider.
I'm kind of like, oh, okay.
But I have no.
real connection to the character, you know.
So I'm kind of like, hey, all right, cool.
Yeah, let's see what you can do for sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, let's move on to another story here.
Do it.
This one, this one I really have, I don't understand what's going on.
And just a reminder, keep sitting in your stream,
super chats, rather, as we go along.
What are your thoughts on the Star Wars story?
What are your thoughts on what Sean Levy's doing here?
What are your thoughts on this idea that this is five years after Exigal?
And they still haven't put a government in place in the galaxy
and it's been of a Wild West out there.
What are your thoughts on that?
Do you like that approach?
Or does that seem narratively convenient
for the story they want to tell?
Let us know in the Super Chat.
So let's move on to this story here.
A little Vindy's election.
Oh, no.
Yeah, yeah.
I saw this.
Filming on Fast Forever,
the 11th and final entry
in the Fast and Furious franchise
looks to be finally getting underway in December,
appearing on Monday.
That was two nights ago,
at the 25th anniversary screening of the original Fast and Furious film,
which I didn't even know what was happening.
Star producer Vin Diesel spoke with variety and explained the start date,
which comes with a caveat.
You start shooting in December.
If I can make good on the request from the studio,
I'm in a good place, though.
I had to go through four sets of writers,
four years of development to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale.
And when I read the script a couple of weeks ago, I cried.
Oh, my God.
The studio request is likely referring to keeping the budget under control,
film is targeting a March 17th, 2028 release.
So in December, 26th, start of shooting date is reasonable.
The update, though, comes in the wake of comments just over two weeks ago by the
presumed director, Louis Lettierie, who admitted he had not even read the script that
Ben Diesel was crying about yet.
And then all the films, of course, have made over $7 billion.
So, Mike, your thoughts on this?
I mean, this is an interesting situation when you're looking for stuff, man.
I mean, four sets of writers, four years of development.
bit. I'm trying to think what was it this movie or I think it was the last where the director is sitting
there with Vindisi's like oh yeah we're doing great and the director's just like this
thousand yards stare on his face and he's just like yes we're filming a movie it's good I think he was
out yeah it's the last one that's when the Louis Littere was brought in on the last one I forgot who
was that wasn't I think it was Justin Lynn wasn't it justin Lynn yeah that's it yeah yeah
yeah man um first of all I have no connection to these movies at all
Like I don't.
I got into like, I think I saw the second one.
And then someone that everyone was like, go see the fifth.
That'll get you in.
And it was good.
It was the bank heist.
And yeah, that was like, oh, this is good.
So I'm like, yeah, let's go back for the sixth.
Then I went to the six.
I was like, oh, no, no, no, no, no.
And I think I did seven.
And that was the Charlese Theron maybe.
Oh, yeah.
There was like a plane runway that was like five miles long.
I'm like, no, no, no.
And then recently, I think Michelle Rodriguez,
is just said, yeah, we're going to get back to the ground
and we're not going to go to space anymore. I'm like, they went to
fucking space. I mean,
hey, we all love our shitty
franchises. Yeah. I am no,
I am no
guy that thinks I'm above
shitty movies. Right, right. Man.
But there people love them.
They do. Love them. Yeah.
Chris Nolan loves him. Yeah,
Chris knows. That's his
trashy movies. Absolutely. I mean,
but yeah. Yeah, no, I'm just
saying like, if you're going through four rights,
It's kind of like in a relationship.
If you're going through, maybe the problem ain't the women.
Maybe I promise you.
I don't know how much as you.
Like he went, the wording, we, I went through four writers.
Four sets of writers.
Not even four writers, right?
A sets of writers, Mike.
Oh, my God.
How hard is it?
Yeah.
Your family, you got a deli shop somewhere in the background and you like cars.
Like, how fucking hard is it?
Maybe it's like, I'm too old for this shit.
and nobody dies and nobody dies.
Everybody comes back.
Nobody dies.
He came back.
Calcadone came back.
Michelle Rodriguez came back.
Nobody dies, bro.
Is it?
And Richon was it?
Now, Richon and Mamoa were in the last one?
Yeah, Richon and Mamo were in the last one.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
And the one before.
But wasn't he Dom's brother?
Yeah, I think Dom's half brother or something like that.
Because the one before that was John Cena, that was Don.
Bob's brother.
He was, he was Dom's brother.
Yeah, that's the one where they went to space with ludicrous in space.
Ludicrous in space.
And so that was the one where they went to space.
So, yeah.
My, is, is Tyrese still in there?
Tyrese is still in there getting rid of everybody.
I love Tyrese.
You know why I love Tyrese in those movies?
Because he is what I call Mr. Exposition.
All he does is say what's happening on screen.
That's his character.
He's like, you mean I'm going to get in a car and it's going to jump.
a tank and go into space.
Yeah.
That's whacked.
That's all he's crazy, man.
What he's going to do in the movie.
It's just the extent of him.
And they make fun of him.
He's the butt of every joke.
That is that, that Mr. Rock, that's amazing.
That rock, that rock like bigger than your forehead.
That shit's funky as hell.
Dude.
I don't know why he keeps coming back, Tyrese.
I mean, I interviewed him once at Collider.
That dude is an interesting cat on so many levels.
I'll bet.
And so to have him like keep coming back to.
endure this kind of abuse.
The paycheck must be good, man.
The paycheck must be good.
But yeah, this idea of four sets of writers to get to a finale.
I mean, I just think there's, it's so unnecessary to make such a big deal about this
situation.
I get it.
It's the last thing he's got, they're not making any new Riddick movies.
Everything else he's tried hasn't really worked.
And I get it, right?
But it's, he's treating it like they're Rocky or Rambo.
Like there's much more substance to Rocky and Rambo than there is to Fast and Furious.
So to treat it like it's this precious thing, you have to go through a bunch of writers.
I don't believe a word of it, to be honest with you.
And to not even show the script to the director.
I mean, I think there's all kinds of stupidity with that involved.
So, yeah, just making too much out of this franchise.
And just because a lot of people like it doesn't mean it's necessary.
Yeah, it is a massive franchise.
And just seeing just the universal, the people that are the hype for this roller coaster.
I mean, I know it's a roller coaster,
but the Fast and Fares,
they have a very loyal fan base and franchise,
but I'm like,
but so 10, was that last summer or two summers ago?
Yeah.
And they weren't they originally going to shoot 10, 11 back to back
with 11 being the finale,
and then they put the brakes because the budget was ridiculous and.
Right.
Well, it didn't make money.
The last one,
oh, like it didn't,
it underperformed the last one,
which is why they're stripping down the budget
and they're going to be based.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, the last one was like $400 million budget.
To make.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, yeah, but like maybe maybe just, yeah, go back to basics.
I forgot what franchise did that, where they just kind of stripped everything down.
They went a little back old school and.
Yeah, yeah, I don't know, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
The characters are there and, you know.
You can play.
well. Yeah, like the budget was $380 million. And then you add marketing probably for a hundred,
right, a hundred or something more. And it only made $714 million. So you didn't break,
you didn't even break even break even on that. If you go by the metrics. Right, the two and a half
times metrics. Who knows what the deals are. That's crazy. You didn't really break even. So that's
why they've stripped it all down to what they've got here. So, yeah, it's going to be found. I think
I think it died when Walker died. I think it really died. You know, that,
That's, yeah, man.
I, I, I mean, he was, he was half your franchise, the two of them.
It's like, it was the two of them.
And that's, you know, they kept going.
And I like that.
I did see the one where they gave the homage to him where his brother did his face capture.
I saw that.
That was kind of cool.
Right.
But that should have been it.
That should have been it.
That should have resisted doing more.
Do you think.
Yeah.
Do you think they're talking or there is talks of doing a, like, I don't say AI,
but like using technology to bring him back?
like as a full character, not just sitting in a car,
to be a character in a movie.
Here's what I'll tell you.
If anybody would do it, Vin Diesel would do that.
I mean, if anybody would do that,
Vin Diesel would do that, right?
Because Vin's the kind of guy that doesn't give her shit,
and if you get upset at you, he'll throw hands.
So I think for him, he'll be like, I'm going to do this.
Because I don't think a lot of people in the Fast and Furious franchise fan base are like,
don't you dare do AI.
I don't think there's a lot of people
about AI in that fan base.
If they can bring Paul back
and make it believable,
I think people would absolutely be on board.
I'll bet they've toyed with that somehow.
Oh, yeah, 100%.
That's a slippery slope, pal.
I know, I know.
I mean, Star Wars did it with freaking Leia and
Tarkin.
Didn't they do that in the Ghostbusters with...
Right, with Harold Ramos.
Yes.
Yeah, at the end of the other.
That's right, that one.
That's the first one when they came back.
Yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, you're seeing it.
I mean, I just saw an AI the other day with Gilligan from Gilligan's Island,
singing some sublime songs.
And I could not tell the, the uncanny valley was not there in the eyes.
And I was like, holy shit, it's getting better.
Like, this is insane.
So, yeah, I would not be surprised if Brian comes back.
Yeah, there you go.
Night Fox is Brian is supposed to come back.
God help us all.
There we go.
He's supposed to come back.
Oh, Brian.
I like this title.
Fast and Furious enough already.
Yeah, there you go.
That's fucking right, Ron H.
But watch him put this out and it's fucking good.
Like, watch him put this out.
I mean, and then it's, it's damn.
Because Lettierie is not a bad director.
No, I like him.
Yeah, I do too.
Yeah.
So, I mean, he's got a real great sense of action.
So, I mean, exactly.
Again, I probably won't see it.
It's just not for me.
Right.
Yeah, but, you know, you like your peanut butter.
Go for it.
Exactly.
Exactly.
I don't know.
You're like your peanut butter go for it.
I don't fucking know.
What is it?
I was trying to do like you don't put your chocolate on my peanut butter type thing.
That's right.
I don't know what it was,
what it came out.
Just enjoy your peanut butter.
He's not the best color man in the league for nothing, folks.
That's good.
All right,
we're at the halfway mark.
I should probably play it.
Do we have an ad PLD?
Are we doing Final Cash app?
Let me know.
Are we doing that?
Yes.
Okay, cool.
All right.
So let's take a break right now.
This is some ad for.
ad from product cash app but while we're doing that
sending in your stream labs and superchats i can't believe
sending your superchats i can't believe we're only
in five or six come on people it's me kalanowski
send in your love send you your questions thoughts and comments
what are your thoughts on fast and furious what are your thoughts on the star
war stuff we're going to get into dc stuff on the other side of this ad
so get ready for that but start sending in your questions thoughts and
comments as we listen to cash app and christian tell us about
there you go i'd rather stick a hot iron in my mouth than welcome that serial
murder into this colony.
Besides, it's been so long since we've been to a party.
I'm not exaggerating.
You have offended me for the very last time, Mr. Cook.
And I demand satisfaction.
Dude.
Yeah, I was with you guys because I think they were saying that they were like,
Mike, did you forget your line of this and that?
I was like, no, I think I forgot my line.
They were trying to defend me.
I was like, no, I probably forgot my line.
But then like, Roxy jumped in.
And she's like, yeah, well, the director should have used a different take.
I was just like, well, well, what,
can you do it. Do what you can. In those small things,
you know, you do what you can. Yeah. I was giving you credit because I didn't know the actress
was your girlfriend at the time. That's a hot. You knew Betsy, right?
That's Betsy? Yes. Yes. Holy shit. Holy shud. It's been so long. I know.
I've been thought about Betsy. Almost 15 years. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's crazy. That's fucking crazy.
We broke up 2013 and we filmed that like 2010. So that film was like 16 years ago.
but yeah, I remember 13 years since we broke up.
Best Betsy, yeah.
I remember Betsy.
Holy shit.
She looks different in the,
but of course,
of course,
of course.
You know,
it's a different situation,
right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Holy crap,
all right,
well, that's right,
buddy.
I mean,
quickly interject here.
Christian actually
here we go.
Here we go.
He wanted to actually,
he wanted to actually want to make it known.
Somebody guess yesterday in the chat
made it out that he was making fun of you guys
for your commercials and your acting and stuff.
And he said that that's not,
couldn't be further from the truth.
is of the utmost respect for Mike's acting, for John's acting, for Winston's acting, for everything else.
It's just kind of a funny bit for the show.
Oh, yeah.
I don't.
Yeah.
No.
Did like some did a reader, a watcher, a listener say, oh, it's not cool to make fun of them?
Like, I never take it.
No.
God, no.
If you can't fucking laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be in this business.
It's on the wrong show, I'll tell you that much.
We're boys bald.
That ain't some of the worst shit I've done.
You're never going to get video of it because it wasn't like film, but I,
used to be, I used to do, there was like, you know, trade shows.
I was like a clucking chicken for some fast food place.
Oh, I'll find that.
Clucking around.
I'll find videos somewhere.
I'll find videos somewhere.
I'll say this.
Yeah, we're boys ballbusting.
I don't think he's in there wrong.
However, I will say, we need to start getting some clips from Christians acting to put up
on the show as well, because it can't just be all of us, you know, to put out.
He was an actor.
He was actually had one.
We actually had one at one point.
Did this cameo, a little movie he did.
And I bet he lost the footage.
I'll find it again.
I had it at one point.
So I'll bring it back.
Where's Roxy?
Doesn't Roxy do any embarrassing stuff?
Or has she always done classy stuff?
Where's that?
Roxy's always perfect.
Always perfect.
She is.
She is for sure.
All right.
Let's get into some DC.
And as I said, keep sending in your super tents.
We're at 10 superchents.
Come on, everybody.
Let's get to 70.
Come on.
We'd love to get to 70.
Don't tell me you don't have stuff to ask us about the Schmodon or DC or Marvel or
or our battles over James.
said in your law for God's sake.
So, all right, let's get into Super.
Okay, Supergirl stuff.
Let's get into it.
All right.
So Supergirl woman of tomorrow writer breaks silence on D.C.'s $125.8 million grossing Supergirl movie here.
Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker Season 2 received largely positive reviews from fans and critics.
So the response to Supergirl must have taken DC studios by surprise.
With a rotten, quote, unquote, 52% of rotten tomatoes, it's also the lowest grossing DC movie since
2004's Catwoman
Grossing a mirror 125.8 minute
worldwide. Behind the scenes issues
plague supergirl, including apparent creative interference
from James Gunn. The movie was
heavily inspired by Tom King and Billis
Evelis Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow,
which I have on my shelf here somewhere.
Unfortunately, writer Anna Nagora
misinterpreted the ending leading to sweeping
changes and directed Craig Gillespie failed to adapt
its breathtaking color
for visuals. So the rap
spoke to Tom King about lanterns, but they
also asked him about a Supergirl because he also were developing the Mr. Miracle TV series for DC
Studios. And he said, quote, that book started so small. He's talking about the woman of tomorrow
comic book with so few people that believed in it. And even when it launched, it didn't sell right off
the bat. And it really was like wonderful nerds at Combook stores, telling people about it and
hand selling it and talking about it and then posting about it. And that groundswell of support got it
noticed. Now it's like one of the best selling comp books of all time. And it all just came from literal word of mouth
of people supporting a book they didn't have to support.
There's this sense of when I'm seeing the movie,
what gratitude I have for those people.
That's a big emotion.
And just seeing one of the planets is named after my daughter
and getting teared up at that.
So there's that emotion.
There's the joy in Millie Alcock's performance
of embodying the rebellious nature of that character
and how brilliantly she brought it to life.
Every time it goes out in the world,
I feel like it's a ticket to join comics.
It's a welcome to my industry.
And that to me is a pure joy.
So, you know, Tom playing it really political, you know, Mike down the line there.
But also, like, just didn't want to engage in the toxicity or the negativity around the movie.
So what do you think about his response here?
And, you know, he's doing a DC project as well.
He was not all his involvement was he wrote the comic, right?
So he wasn't pretty much.
Yeah, yeah.
We've got to look at it from that sense.
Like, I love the comic.
And like he said, I did not.
I remember when it came out, but I didn't pick it up.
I was like, I don't care for Supergirl.
And it wasn't to mouth.
You guys, you and Vogel, even Vogel was like last year of Comic Con.
He's like, you've never read it here.
He went out and bought me in McClung it.
I, you know, I saw the movie.
It's fine.
Like that's my theory is well known on it.
Yeah.
I'll probably never watch it again since I don't have to because I don't do the Shmode on it anymore.
I think the thing about the bad guy, like even in the book, he's not.
There's nothing to.
The story is Supergirl and Ruth.
That's the story.
So I did see like, oh, that's, you know, you really, and then everything that came out and
like, oh, we really didn't want to look at the book and we didn't want to deal with it.
And it's like, that was probably a mistake being how well.
But I see Tom King's point of everything he's saying is like, because it's from his eyes.
Right.
You know, the story is there.
They're like I love Meli Alcock.
I think she's great.
I can't wait to see her again.
Yeah.
So, you know, it just was one of those ones that didn't hit.
You know, it's and now fascinating with lanterns out, you know, where and how there is no
James Gunn touched to the lanterns,
but he's involved, you know, it's like,
you're going to blame him for Supergirl, you've got to blame him
for lanterns. If you're going to do that,
you can't pick and choose, like, Supergirl sucks
because James Gunn, but Lanterns is awesome because
James Gunn wasn't involved. It's like,
it says, but I, you know, you hear like
you, you guys even said, you and
Snyder about how Gunn came in and there were competing cuts.
Yeah, yeah. Gillespie's cut
tested lower, so,
right. I mean, hey, if you've got a movie
that you know it's not going to do well, you've got to
try and save that ship while it's going down any way you can.
Yeah.
But I think so.
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Sorry.
So,
finish your point.
No,
and he sat for you.
I think he was the guy that came out like Monday after first week.
He's like,
yeah,
didn't do what we wanted to do.
They were very quick to get on that like,
yeah,
didn't do what we want to do and let's move on.
Yeah.
But him coming from a writer's perspective of his, you know.
I also think what do you expect Tom's going to say?
I mean,
Tom is show running Mr.
Miracle.
So he's not going to be like,
man,
they froze me out and they screwed it over and whatever.
Like he's not going to say all that.
And he doesn't strike me as a guy who would, you know, Mike.
No.
And I am interested like, I don't know the history behind us.
Now there's a thing out right now.
And I wish like there is a young adult fantasy sci-fi show that's like Waconda with
magic.
And the writer of the book is author constantly going, no, fuck that show.
I'm not associated with it.
Oh, yes.
The Blood Bone Show.
Yeah, I don't know her name.
So I couldn't do that.
But like, right.
Well, that's a writer that's really not playing it safe there.
Like, fuck that show.
lead actress I hate you don't ever talk to me right so I'm like that's an idea there's a children
of blood and bone someone's saying yes that story is fascinating to me told me adiemi yeah told me adiimi
is the writer and wow she said that she left the set in tears yeah that she went to visit the set
but then other people came out and said that she has a history of having these kinds of reactions
to things so it's like what's the authenticity of what's the real that what's going on here so
she might just be a very, you know, like an artist who is troubled at times or frustrated things at times and unleashes and there it is.
But like you're not a Tom King where you like, I know, I can say with this very politically and I enjoyed it.
And, you know, maybe if he's home with his family, he's like, God, they fucking destroyed my book.
Right.
Maybe.
I don't think we'll never know.
But yeah.
That's the questions you have when you look at this.
It's like, how can you do this without involving Tom King?
How do you not run the script by Tom King to have Tom go like and misinterpreted the end?
ending. This is not what the ending should be.
Here's what you should make. Or did they ignore Tom's notes?
And maybe as the, you know, realized that they had a stinker on their hands before it even came out.
And like, here, do Mr. Miracle. We're going to hand you that.
You do the thing that you want to do. I just don't know, you know.
Tom King's not involved in lanterns, right?
He is. He was one of the co. Yeah, him and James Gunn crafted the pitch for lanterns.
Yeah. I thought I saw him in an interview with Lindeloff.
Yeah. Yep.
Yeah, because there was the two of them talking about how much they love Hal.
And they're like, hey, we took a swing.
If you hate it now, give us a break.
If you wait to the end of 80 episodes and you still hate it,
then that's a different conversation.
Right.
Yeah, yeah.
So I don't, I don't, I, he gets a lot of hate online, Tom King.
I don't understand.
I don't know why.
He's great.
Like his stories are great.
Yeah.
So I don't know, man.
Yeah.
I'm curious to see how the Scott Snyder situation is going to go down when they start doing
the absolute Batman stuff.
Yeah.
I'm really curious if he's also going to be in the same kind of.
position or situation.
But it feels like he's got a little more control than Tom did on this particular movie.
Yeah, he's the architect of that absolute universe.
So he's got to got to be some saying that.
I mean, there seems to, I wish they would, I hope there's a book that comes out that kind of
details the missteps because it does feel like there were missteps.
And maybe they were well-intentioned missteps.
Like, you know, my less cynical side of me will say, well, James Gunn selected Galaspe because
he had directed good films that were led by women in tough.
situations. I mean, Corella was good.
I tanya was good. Even Lars and the
real goal, even though that's Ryan Reynolds,
or Ryan Gosling, it still has a female
element to it that's strong. And so
he's able to do it. And then
he kind of let him do his thing and
kept trusting and kept trusting him until it was
maybe too late. Then game
parachuting in, tried to make some changes
as in the end, it just kind of was
no saving it either way.
I don't know. Like it's, I don't
even remember who you might have remembered it. I
I don't remember any backlash when he was assigned to direct it.
They didn't say, look, why is the woman directing it?
There was nothing like that.
They just don't hear that either.
Yeah.
Because of how he had directed female-led films in the past.
Yeah.
So I'm like, maybe it just wasn't his forte.
Because these guys makes great.
I think you, I saw you comment about a tweet because someone was attacking Gillespie as a director.
You're like, oh, yeah.
So all these films he did, he's shitty now.
Yeah.
He's a very good director.
It's just that wasn't his thing.
Drew Mcweeney came out.
He said, I would rather see some.
something. I think he said about, and he's just not, he's not a Craig Gillespie guy.
And I was like shocked that Drew said that. I mean, because Drew never responds to my shit.
And I was surprised that he responded. So I was like, okay, man, but I disagree because I think
these films are actually really good, you know. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it is. Everyone's got their taste,
artist's objective as it is. But, you know, I think that in the end, as long as Millie Alcock comes out
of this unscath, I think that's important. And hopefully she'll be good in Man of Tomorrow.
My fear, though, Mike, is that, like, we get into a Brie Larson Captain Marvel situation
where the fan base has turned on her as Supergirl so hard that it doesn't matter what she does.
And I feel that way about, I think the Marvel fan base feels that way about Bree for the most part,
which is unfortunate.
So I hope that isn't what happened.
So I hope James has taken extra care in Man of Tomorrow to make sure that you're getting the best out of Millie
and writing some really good scenes that she is in.
I mean, it could be one of those ones where, you know, I remember, like,
I the captain marvel was fine but then she pops up an end game and I'm like oh where was this person
right just like they did they just brought that good quote like I enjoyed her much so much more in end game
oh agree it in her own yeah yeah yeah you know it is what it is it is what it is we'll see what
happens but in connected to this I want to talk about this situation David crumholtz apparently yeah
yeah let's let's bring that story up here get what you guys let us know what you guys think about
Tom King's comments in the chat. Let us know
when you send in your super chats, what do
your thoughts are on Supergirl and Tom King's involvement?
What do you think about what he said here
about Supergirl and what he's going to do with Mr.
Miracle? But David Crumholtz
apparently removes his
retirement post. For those of you who may have missed
this, David Crummoltz, who was
most recently seen playing Kara's father
Zorrel in Supergirl, it was great
in Supergirl, set the
cat upon the pigeons yesterday when he posted
on threads indicating he's, quote, done
with acting and ready for a, quote,
new life. In the post, he spoke of his frustration with getting jobs in Hollywood, indicating he
still love the craft of acting, but not the industry around it. In the post, he sent the definitive
email to put his career on old, he added, it became clear to me this year that if I were to
continue fighting for parts, what I used to call auditioning, I'd be doing so for roles that exploit my
talent and reputation for a drastically diminishing return. Exploitive art isn't art, and artists
deserve a fair pay percentage for work that assists their employers.
and making profits.
I came up at a time where movie studios and TV networks,
no matter how big,
were still mom and pop store entities.
But, however, he soon deleted the posts,
which has led to speculation about if he is truly intending
to retire from acting.
Seth Rogen, a longtime friend who worked with him
on the studio at Apple.
He was great in the studio.
Had previously told him he was going to quit acting.
Grumholtz has appeared in more than 100 film and TV projects,
like including numbers,
10 things I hate about you, Santa Claus.
Hail Caesar, Super Bad Sausage,
Part of the Deuce,
and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
Promote scored good notices for his work as Isidore Isaac,
Isaac Rabbi in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer as well.
So, you know, this is an interesting situation.
We're seeing, Mike, you're an actor.
You see, like, you're just talking about the beginning of our conversation on the show
today.
Like, it can be tough out there.
And we've seen, like, people who used, like,
why is Judy Greer doing all state commercials?
And it's because the work doesn't pay like it used to.
and I think David was giving us a window into that reality,
even for the actors that we see working in big projects.
What are your thoughts on what he said
and him possibly retiring and then not retire?
Oh, you muted, bud, you muted, but.
Sorry, buddy. Yeah.
Yeah, man, it's the industry right now.
It just, it sucks.
It's everyone, like I understand he's basically saying
he's probably making a hell of a lot less money for these projects
that he used to be able to make a living doing.
And when you got something like David Krumholz,
where you listed his credits.
Like that guy is, you know, he's always been there.
He's always been a working actor.
And now he's fighting for roles that, like,
I love how he said even auditioning.
He's not even auditioning anymore.
He's happening to fight for these things.
And it filters down.
And what used to be someone that, a movie actor is now doing it.
He's the series regular.
And that series regular and now only gets the guest star roles.
And that guest star, he's going for the roles that I'm up for that, you know,
he used to be a serious regular.
So it's just like, yeah, man, it is a.
I don't know if this is going to be a change.
I don't know what's going to happen.
I don't know if he said it.
Another actor was talking about it,
but now it's the studio system,
they're private equity essentially.
There's these giant corporations.
They're not,
like he said, the mom and pop where they're looking at numbers and, you know.
Yeah, and they're trying to squeeze.
It's kind of depressing.
And they're trying to squeeze actors out.
It's always been the game.
It's, for the last few decades,
it's always been about minimizing what you pay actors.
the non-union explosion that happened like 10 years ago
that's what drove me out of acting eventually.
Also, I didn't think it was,
I didn't want to keep doing it.
I didn't find the love for it that they used to have,
but also the explosion of non-union stuff
so they could pay you less.
And so you weren't going to make as much in residuals.
You weren't going to make,
it's only the top people that were getting extra money.
The rest of us were having to scrounge around
for whatever they sent us, you know?
And so you see that.
And so I think sometimes those of you who are watching us now,
you can,
deluded that, and I don't mean that a negative way,
it's what you're seeing, that like
these actors aren't all these things,
so therefore they must be making a crap ton of money.
And the truth is, it's not that way.
Yeah, you were mentioning an act,
a Latino actor.
He said he had to sell his house because
he could know, and he's like a...
Oh, yes, yes, yes.
Yeah.
Fuck.
Yeah, mid-level character actor, really good actor,
been in the wire, another other things.
Oh, God, who was that? Yeah.
And he said he was having to sell his house because it was a
Michael Mando, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wasn't him.
He can no longer afford to pay the rent in his house because.
Kirk Acevedo.
Kirk Acevedo.
Yes, yes, yes.
He said, I can't even afford to pay the rent on my house because of how little the work comes in and then how little you make.
It isn't about them being talented.
It's the fact that more and more are getting involved in this and going for roles that they normally wouldn't go for because they were up here.
They're now having to go down lower levels in order to grab roles to make money to pay their own rent.
So it's becoming more of a battle.
That's why you see Nicole Kimman doing streaming series.
Nicole Kimman doesn't put butts in seats anymore.
I mean, practical magic will probably do well the sequel.
But like she isn't putting butts in seats anymore.
So it's like, well, let's go do series.
You know, Merrill Streep on, would you ever see Merrill Streep on murders in the building?
Like, what?
And so this is the reason, you know, actors want to work and want to pay their bills, you know, so it's a situation for sure.
It is, yeah, I don't, I don't.
But on the other hand, there's never been more.
stuff. There's never been. Every day, every day I'm talking to someone. It's like, hey, did you watch
what? So and so on. I'm like, what show is that? What's it on? I'm like, what? Yeah. So it's crazy.
And it's just the greed of, of everything letting like our industry kind of be taken over by.
Yeah. And it filters. It's the unions or, I mean, like teamsters and, and all that crew. It's,
it's, it's everywhere. It's not just, you know, it's so funny. And it's kind of like a sidebar,
but I see people talk about like obsession and the actors involved and the crew involved
and how they were talking about the one I think was a costume designer saying how she only made like
$20,000.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yes, because you signed up for that because that's what it was.
And now I look at the two leads of obsession.
She's like up for she's X-Men.
Yeah.
She's talking about she's going to be in heat too.
I think that's the new rumor like it's a stepping stone and like that costume designer,
she will then do a bigger payday.
Right.
So it's just like there's, you know, maybe that's the way to go.
You do these little things and, you know, hope and that's why.
Yeah, I joke.
I mean, I joke like that, Mr. Cook.
Like, I did that to help a guy.
You know, I don't make any money on that, but you want to build those relationships.
And hopefully one day that director is somewhere making an obsession.
And you're like, hey, we work together.
Remember this?
Right.
Right.
Right.
Like, what's his face?
In clerks, right?
Dante and Clerks.
Yeah.
Kevin never gave him another lead role in any of his movies.
But he put him in his movies, you know, because Kevin could get.
bigger actors to be in his movies after the success of clerks, but he still took care of
of that actor. So, you know, yeah, that's the, that's the way it goes. But, you know, it's a
business for everybody. Yeah, it's, but it's not going to go away, you know, so I think you're just,
everyone is now about making their own avenues and, yes, or making your own stuff. I mean, I love,
I mean, I love the story of Taylor Sheridan. And his, you know, or I think it was, you know,
he was like, wanted more money from the sons of anarchy and they're like, yeah, sons of
Anacrine.
He had that good.
Fuck you.
He ain't that good.
Yeah.
He's like, all right, well, fuck you then.
Now he's the billion dollar man.
So.
Right.
Now he could do his old sons of anarchy.
He could hire the showrunner of sins of anarchy to show run his show.
That's how big Taylor Sherman has got.
Yeah, you got to bet on yourself sometimes.
It's not easy.
It's not always fun.
It can be tough.
But sometimes you just got to bet on yourself and do your thing.
You know, and so no matter how, you know, good it looks or whatever to stay and play the game.
But.
But hopefully.
he took it down or maybe his people were like,
what the fuck are you doing?
You didn't tell us.
You didn't tell us.
I think, you know, from what I understand from having followed David over the years
and followed social media, like he's very much a guy who is like,
whatever's on his mind is going to be on there on the page.
And I think in that moment, he really authentically believed, fuck this.
I don't want to do this anymore.
I'm out.
I'm out.
You guys are amazing.
Here's why I'm gone.
And then maybe a little, people reached out to him.
Like, David, we wanted you to work on these projects.
He wanted to be a part of things.
And so he took it down maybe in that way.
But I think the message got through to people who were listening for this kind of stuff
to other actors because I think a lot of people are frustrated.
I just imagine an actor like David Kremholz.
Like he'll always work.
Yes.
But is it the, I mean, essentially I took that article basically like I'm not making what I'm worth.
Right.
In a not greedy way.
Because I'm sure he understands the country.
And every time anyone thinks of an actor, it's either one of the,
because I deal with it on social media because.
anytime I, you know, as I want to do, I go at people on social media.
And there go-to responses, well, that's what I expected from a failed actor.
Oh, yeah, I love that.
It's either that or you Hollywood elite.
You don't know shit.
And I'll know all those little people.
You make so much money.
So I'm one or the other.
I'm either the Hollywood elite living in my mansion or I'm a failed actor.
It's one or the other with people in Hollywood.
When anyone you find you're an actor on social media, it's like, but David Crimmolz is a working man's actor.
He is a.
Yes.
he's been like we fucking did nolan he did nolan he was great we just finished great
he's great and super girl yeah so you know he's probably used to a certain paycheck and a certain
way to be treated and it's that's not happening yeah because i well fuck you dave we'll go get the guy
with five million followers on ticot right right and that you know infuriates him on something up
because you're no longer going for talent you're going for attention and that's where i mean look at
the fucking bay watch no listen i didn't think it was going to be festby
in Baywatch.
Right.
But the new Baywatch show has like, like,
two TikTok influencers coming in to try to act.
And so, you know, you look at a situation, you know.
That's,
earn it with their talent.
They earned it with their social media presence.
And that's where it becomes kind of frustrating, you know,
on some of the level.
So,
but listen,
we just finished the five-part breakdown of Oppenheimer on the Cinephiles.
Five parts.
First time we ever done a fight.
We basically almost talked 11 hours on that movie.
Ooh, shit.
Yeah.
And the respect I have for Krumholtz coming out of that movie was like even,
like it was magnified even more.
Because getting to break down the scenes, getting to break down his performance.
And he's such an essential part of that movie.
So I thought from that movie, he was going to be booking roles left and right.
So looking at the fact that he hasn't really done that, that kind of shows you that there
is like this kind of bar in Hollywood.
And he is a character actor.
And he's got a certain look.
And you have to wonder if those are things that are kind of.
of affecting things overall for him as well.
But God, I hope he keeps going because it would be our loss to not have crumholtz.
Yeah.
He's one of those actors.
Anytime he pops up, you're like, oh, yeah, this is going to be good.
Yes, right, right.
He just elevates any material.
Yeah.
Well, speaking of actors, let's move to one more DC story before we maybe get into the questions,
but keep setting in your supertests.
What are your thoughts on this?
What are your thoughts on David Crumholz retiring and not retiring in the Supergirl situation?
But let's get into this Harvey Dead story, man.
Sebastian Stan, I'm Harvey Dent and Batman.
Oh, look at that baldhead.
Where's that made?
The original, so here we go.
The original Marvel alum Sebastian Stan
has seemingly confirmed the longstanding
rumors that he's playing Harvey Dent in the current production,
the Batman Part 2, directed by Matt Reeves.
Stan was at or was out at the Cannes Film Festival in May,
promoting Christian Munggillot's new film Fjord in which he stars
and which won the festival's top honor of the Palm Dior.
A lot of people think he's going to get nominated for best actor for this.
The publication, Les Gernel du Dimange,
seems to have conducted the interview at the time,
but as only today published the piece in the chat,
the interviewer asked Sebastian Sand about Avengers Doomsday,
and if he could say anything about it, he responded,
we didn't have a script, we were just shooting scattered scenes,
it's a different way of working, continuous, constantly involving,
the producers didn't want us to read it in its entirety
to avoid journalists asking us questions.
He laughs about that.
I've been following this role for 15 years.
I'm used to it.
I also can't say anything about the Batman Part 2 by Matt Reeves,
where I play Harvey Dent,
the beauty of this profession also lies in participating in projects of this scale,
which I love as a viewer.
Stan had been long rumored to portray Gotham DA Harvey Dent.
However, until mid-June, when Snyder's Report, not report, Snyder's report,
emerged that he was actually playing a whole different character, Victor Zaz.
Set photos that have emerged seem to back up the Zaz story with Stan spotted,
sporting a shaved head that is much more akin to Zaz's look than Dent's,
and specifics regarding the newcomers to the franchise like Scarlett Johansson,
Charles Danes, Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch,
are still under wraps.
But there's an update.
The original French outlet that has now altered the quote.
The reference to Harvey Dent no longer appears.
The original quote was reportedly inaccurate,
and the outlet has corrected the article.
So what do you think of this, Mike?
Was he telling the truth?
And then his publicist got involved,
take that out.
Or as what is being reported by the rap,
was he misquoted and joking by the French
a writer or a journalist
and this was a mistaken interpretation.
What do you think?
Well, we, this story dropped when Roxy and I were on yesterday
and she's like, well, all right, I'm going to go to the source.
I'm going to Jeff Snyder.
And Jeff was texting to her.
Yeah.
You know, essentially what he put out on social media yesterday.
Like, it's completely wrong.
I think it was a lost in translation moment.
I think they were talking and maybe there's a translator
or maybe they were the French and it was just misinterpreted.
So, and I think Sebastian Stan was kind of like, yes, I play him, this, this, and this.
And so, right.
I don't know.
I think it's just, yeah, it's a French.
Yeah, I don't think that's going to.
I mean, it's not like he didn't be interviewed by, you know, Josh Horowitz or something.
And he says, you know, on a podcast.
I'm like, uh, I think he was joking because he just finished telling you or telling us in the, in the response that like, I've been doing this for a long time.
I know how to keep my mouth shut.
I don't talk about this stuff.
and I do, so he's not just going to blurt out that he's playing Harvey Dent.
I think he was joking when he said it.
If he did say it, I think he was saying in the Batman where you know I play Harvey Dent.
I think he was joking that he was releasing that information out there.
So if he did say it, it seems to be that would be joking.
That being said, for him to say it, it almost feels like he's saying he's not playing Harvey Dent.
So he's almost back door confirming that he is playing Victor Zaz.
So he should have said it either way.
You know what I'm saying?
It's just a weird, like, or maybe, maybe the guy was recording the interview on his little recorder, and he had said, like, hey, you know, I've done this for 15 years.
I can't come out here and tell you, I'm Matt and Matt Reeves Batman playing Harvey Dent.
And they skip that, I can't park in his tape recording or something.
It's completely wrong.
Yeah, so we'll see.
But it's, it's, it's, to me, it's, there's misinterpretations all the time.
We had one recently.
You know what I'm saying?
So, yeah.
No, I'm picturing this French.
reporter. I'm picturing him as like Clousseau. And it's a bit. He's like, I don't make my record.
that didn't say, can you repeat that? Like he's like, what did John? Like Sebastian Sanchez's like,
what is happening here? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What are you going to do? Yeah, exactly. I think it's,
I think it's not a big deal and people going after Jeff Snyder for it. You know, it's, I'll say
this. Oh, sorry. Yeah. Go ahead. I always. I wish people were fair about the situation with Jeff.
Do you know what I'm saying? I get scoopers. I understand. I understand.
why people get upset at scoops. I totally get it because they sometimes ruin stuff or reveal
stuff. And you're like, God, I wish I'd been able to see that in the theater. But that's no longer
the culture we live in because if people didn't care about getting their information ahead of time,
there would be nobody reading or watching or being aware of this kind of stuff. But I just think if people
are going to come after somebody and say, oh, you were wrong. See, he's not. And then it comes out that
he's Victor's ass. I wish those people had the same energy to go back and say, you know what, Jeff,
I was sorry. You were right. It is Victor's Oz.
my bad but no they always go oh you got one right congratulations and it's like you just can't
win with people like yeah that's i'm saying so it's i was just say like if it's true he's as like
that is a doth of his cap for snider yeah that is i mean he got he got jean gray right with
saty sink and people are trying to undercut that but now they're going after the zaz thing but
yeah i mean so so we'll see uh we'll see on that uh jeff seems so angry i thought it was
going to have a heart attack or a start oh mike you're such a fool jej that j j jay that
lives in a place of anger. That's his existence. All right, one last story before we get into the
question. Send in your thoughts. What are your thoughts on the, on the Victor Zaz or what he said there
about Harvey Dent? What are your thoughts on Sebastian Stan? Was it misquoted? Was he revealing this stuff?
Or was it a lost in translation situation? Well, speaking of stories or scoops,
300 prequel TV series may be heading to Netflix with Zach Snyder attached to direct in 2020.
before it was reported that a 300 TV series
was indeveloped with Zach Snyder
who directed the 2006 movie, heavily
involved. The project described as a prequel
now appears to have taken a big step forward,
albeit not at HBO Max. According
to the hot mic host, John Roker, I think that's me.
WB television has partnered with
Netflix on the show with
Snyder now on board to direct the pilot.
The untitled 300 prequel has not
been ordered to series yet, but it was
writer's room has been gathered, so it is
beginning to take shape. That doesn't mean the series
is going to happen, of course, and even if a pilot is
shot. Netflix may still decline to move forward with it. Snyder's movies are notoriously expensive,
so that could be a factor in deciding whether it happens. Snyder is already attached to executive
produced the 300 prequel, marking his first return to the world of comp books since 2021's Justice
League Snyder cut. Debra Snyder also executive produced 300, right, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
so we previously learned the site it was once developing a 300 sequel, Blood and Ashes,
which revolved around Alexander the Great and the second in command, Hephaestianna.
I hope I'm saying that right for you nerds there.
That was described as part Greek war epic, part gay love story.
I'm in.
Wonder Brothers passed around the same time Snyder left Justice League
and the rights have since returned to the director.
So, yeah, this is a story that was from a very solid source of mine.
So I put it out there.
They gave me permission to put it out there.
So what are your thoughts on this, Mike?
Mike, does this make sense for Snyder to go back to the land of 300
after, you know, taking some hits on Rebel Moon?
Do you want him directing the pilot?
Do you want him involved in a prequel?
series for 300 or is that ship kind of sailor?
You know, I love 300 when that came out.
That is, you know, pre-D.C. was Zach Snyder and everything.
And I remember just how everyone loved that movie and it kind of changed.
You know, we hadn't seen anything like that.
So it spoke to him as a visual filmmaker.
I don't know, man, because that sequel came out in, what, 2014 maybe?
Yeah.
And it didn't do well.
Yeah.
And now it's going to be at least 20 years past that.
I kind of feel that ship is sailed.
I don't, I mean, I doubt
Gerard Butler would be involved.
So, you know, that was a big, big step back
from the sequel, you know, butler.
And he was so great in that role.
I don't know, man.
I don't know if what were WBs trying to milk that teat
to, you know, where they're trying to get at it.
And again, look, okay, so here's a good point, man.
Think about this, if I do say so myself,
with my own point.
I tip my teeth.
Got a milked that teat.
Like,
look at this generation
that are,
don't want sex in movies.
They don't want,
like,
to see the people are like,
Jesus,
now we've got lanterns
having sex and using F-bombs.
I'm like,
yeah,
really wasn't a lot,
guys,
and it's an HBO Mac show.
Like,
there's a generation
that doesn't want to see sex in movies.
They don't want.
So I'm like,
in that movie,
it was very sexual,
very, you know.
Oh, 300.
Yes.
Yeah.
Straight or gay.
It's very sexual and very, you know, nudity.
And so where's your audience?
I don't know, man.
Yeah, I know.
It's an interesting situation.
First of all, I was excited because I love 300, like you said.
I'm with you.
That's one of the movies I go back to all the time.
I think it's one of the most visually amazing films ever put together.
And if you have even a remote streak within you that appreciates battles and fights
and gets like all like kind of primal man about it, that film speaks your language.
you know, and I think it's an amazing film.
The sequel is fine.
It's not great.
And you're right.
It was missing Jar Butler.
It's fine.
Although I think Joe Butler would come crawling back to do a sequel now.
But at the time, he was riding high and he thought the sequel was a step down for him.
Also, because Zach wasn't coming back to direct it, right?
No, yeah.
Lena Heady came back to be a part of it, which was great to see.
But, like, you know, coming back to direct.
So, but I think him being involved in the pilot is a way to kind of like launch this thing in a certain direction.
And then hopefully he'll be involved.
as a creative consultant or executive producer on it,
and then we'll see where it goes.
But what story are they telling is the question, right?
Yeah, my first reaction was like, you know what, man,
they got Butler back and it was,
but I was like, oh, wait a me, he died.
Right.
Can't we do it?
I thought like if they'd do it like a King Conan where it was Butler back
and he gets himself back in shape and like that would help push this,
but I was like, oh, no, he died.
So that's, right.
We're doing a prequel with some younger guy.
So I'm like, eh.
Yeah, that's the question.
Would it be a younger guy?
Yeah.
How far back are we going?
You know the outcome.
So there are questions to be asked.
But I do think we're in this place now where this kind of man type of project
there's a bigger audience for it than there used to be.
Streaming.
Yeah, it's streaming and all this kind.
So I think there's possibilities.
But the WB Netflix aspect of it all, Mike, I got to ask you about that.
I mean, that's interesting because he was on the lot.
And of course, all the side of us people were like,
He's coming back. He's going to do DC. I told you.
But it's 300.
So, and then maybe he's going to do his remake of Escape from New York for WB.
But this idea that WB and Netflix working together on a project,
considering what is going on now with the Paramount WB merger,
this is a fascinating thing if it actually goes down.
I just wonder about it.
Because I mean, Paramount is in full panic mode over the last week.
Oh, God.
All the stuff they're doing, you know.
We want the taxpayers to pay our.
fees. Yeah, the bond.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fuck you.
Like, shit heal. Yeah.
I mean, we talked a little bit about this,
uh, Roxy and I. Like, it just seems like everything at WB is in a holding pattern right now.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're talking on Netflix. Maybe they've got another avenue and
yeah. Yeah. I don't know, man. Yeah. I don't know. I want. I hope, if they put it
together, I hope it's good. I know Frank Miller is still alive. I don't know if you can get Frank
Miller to come back and maybe consult on the script. Yeah. But I think it could be fun.
because that's, I think, what was missing from the second one.
Frank Miller is the source material of the first 300 movie,
and it's incredible.
So maybe you can find him when to come back to him about it.
I would rather see Snyder's go do the Escaper Millie thing.
Oh, yeah.
I would like to see his version of that.
Right on.
But, you know, we'll see.
What are you going to do?
What are you going to do?
Yeah, Frank Miller is still alive.
Yes, I know PLD.
I know it's still love.
I'm saying he's willing to work on it.
Yeah, because my girl, Gotham Geek Girl interviewed him recently,
and Frank had a really good time.
with that interview, which I watched.
So she's great.
So, yeah.
All right, well, let's get into the questions.
We only have 20 right now.
I was hoping we were hoping to get to 70, but there's no other story.
So let's get into these questions and we'll see where we land.
Maybe we'll get to more than 20.
Maybe we'll get to 50 by the end of the show.
We'll see.
Here, attorney, attorney.
You two members, became a YouTube member.
All Yankees got high five, five jewels.
Thank you so, or 100 Jules.
Thank you so much.
Greening from Oz.
Starfighter had low wolf and cub vibes.
see that before.
Yeah.
Oh,
said that before.
Right, right, right.
Yeah,
you're not wrong,
buddy,
as we said.
Yeah.
Star Wars,
droids versus human story,
a bit like us versus AI.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
We've always seen droids
kind of either be
second or second fiddle
to the humans and that's interesting.
Yeah.
I've always wondered if they ever could do a droids,
like all droid show.
Like,
I've always wondered if they could ever do
an all-droid streaming show in Star Wars
where they're communicating.
I don't know.
You know, I think it's possible.
Yeah.
Mike Joyce says, is John, is Jeff okay?
How confident is he and his Batman 2 sources?
He had a meltdown on Twitter yesterday.
He didn't have a meltdown.
That wasn't a meltdown.
Why do you children get so dramatic?
I don't understand.
Mike, I don't know why you get so dramatic.
Mike's like so desperate to be part of the conversation
that he says the most outrageous shit
so we have to address him because Michael is not,
Mike Joyce is not part of the conversation.
but he wants to be part of the conversation
and so bad, so bad.
And so he said,
Mommy.
Exactly.
Jeff did not have a meltdown.
He just went at people.
Jeff's,
Jeff,
what's the line in Avengers?
That's the secret cap.
I'm always mad.
That's Jeff.
Jeff is always mad.
So that's his state of existence.
So it's not like.
Roxy was so funny.
Like Roxy was reading his,
his,
what his text were.
And she's like,
man,
he's such a fucking asshole.
And that's her best friend.
Yeah.
Man, he's such a fucking asshole.
I host that show every week.
Jeff can be an asshole,
but he's also one of the sweetest guys you'll know if he lets you in.
And, you know, he's always supportive of stuff.
And so, you know, but people always want to go after Jeff because Jeff is combative.
Jeff is abrasive.
Jeff can be people in his place.
So yeah.
Mike also says Jeff made lots of NABs.
Possibly he got duped.
No, Mike.
Mike, he didn't get duped.
It is going to be Victor Zaz.
and I hope you
send in hundreds of dollars
of donations to both this show
and my show when Jeff,
when it becomes true so you can say
and say, I was fucking wrong.
I totally misread the situation.
I'm an idiot. Here, take my money.
That should be the thing you send in, Mike, for sure.
Exactly.
Armada, Fast and Fierers, 11,
they discover Atlantis.
Oh, Jesus.
Yeah, I guess.
Thanks.
Johnny Petrieza says,
is it possible for you both to compete
in the 16-person Smodown match for fun?
Are you both just too competitive that's not possible?
That's a good question.
God, I don't know, man.
My fucking, my heart, every time this comes up,
I, you know, we would do it for Harlov, you know.
That guy's been very, very good to me over the years
and helped with stuff in my career.
So, of course, and like, you know, I want to, I would love to be a part of the show.
And we've talked about stuff and roles for me eventually.
And but the Schmowdown is like, yeah, it's maybe a one-time thing would be fun, you know.
Right, right.
Yeah.
But it won't be.
But I'd be terrible.
I'd be terrible, though.
I've been so out of it.
Even an IG match, I'd be terrible at it, guys.
That's why I don't.
This out here, guys, really quick.
I'll throw this out here.
I think if this happened, if you remember, you guys, I don't know, do you, do you
watched the last spectacular when that happened?
I wasn't in that so I didn't watch it. Was I in it? You were not, neither of you were in it.
No, I don't. We wrote it for, like, we wrote a more fun-filled thing. I kind of feel like if we did
a tournament like that, it would be more of a fun-filled event anyway, to be completely honest.
I'm not speaking out of term because I've talked to personally about it. We try to like do callbacks,
throwbacks, kind of fun moments with everybody. I think it still be a competitive. Stop smoking crack,
PLD. Stop snorking crack. Because I'm telling you right now, you can make it as fun as you want.
Do you know we're a bunch of intense mother effers? And it doesn't matter. You could ask questions
all about the fluffiest animal. And it wouldn't matter. We would still get into it.
Are you kidding? If you brought in Kalinowski, me, Snyder, a fucking baitman guy, like Bibiani,
are you telling me we're going to be like, oh, soft and fluffy? No, we'll start out that way.
I think we'll all start out that way.
And then one person is going to make a mistake or one word is said wrong or one article.
Or spelled wrong.
Yeah, or spelt wrong.
Or don't write it on the whiteboard legibly.
And the whole thing's going to explode.
I mean,
you might have a point.
I was already starting to write down super old questions as soon as Mike said he wasn't going to watch it again.
Watch that shit again.
Nope.
Yeah.
Or even Clark.
I mean, Clark could get intense.
That's what you wanted to.
You know?
Yeah.
Could you get Rachel?
I don't know if you could get Rachel.
I don't think you get Rachel.
I don't think you get Rachel.
I don't think we get racial.
Following along on social media with her,
she's,
you know, she's been struggling some over the last few years.
So I don't know that she'd be willing to put herself.
But I know,
Sam would kill men to climb back into the ring.
I know he would.
Think so?
Oh, Lil Sam?
Of course.
Lil Sam would climb over dead bodies to be in Smodown again.
Okay.
Yes.
I don't know if Merle would do it.
I mean,
Merle's another real ex-
ex-exam.
I don't know if Murl would.
I think he'd be kind of like, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't think so.
Smets would do it.
Smet would do it.
Yeah. We'll see you. I don't know, bro.
Because, I mean, it's not just, it's not just the match.
It's the preparation, the hours.
I know.
I know.
People don't see.
And we don't get paid for.
Watched movies in general.
Just saying we could have like a specific like, set of movies, so I kind of thing.
Like, so it wouldn't make it the ball of wax kind of thing.
Wait, wait. So you'd say, you'd say you could say, these are the movies we're going to pick questions from.
Maybe.
These are the moves you have to watch.
I'm throwing like that as a potential thing out there.
I don't know.
I'm negotiating on air.
I mean,
that could maybe,
maybe motivate me to come back.
You would have to like,
you know.
Yeah.
And we would have to be able to like pick slices and,
and.
Oh,
yeah.
Come in with like handicaps.
Like if I'm going to,
if I'm going against,
you know,
Snyder,
I get to put like five IG slices on that wheel.
And he gets.
So you've got to have handicaps.
I want a handicap like this.
If you're under 30, you have 10 seconds to answer.
If you're over 30, you have 20.
That's the way.
That's the cat.
That's the, that's the, that's the,
our reflexes aren't as quick as theirs.
They're not.
They're not.
I'll say, not just you guys know.
I think Christians,
if Christian's watching this, he's going,
now I remember why I got out of this thing.
Exactly.
Oh, please.
Christian ain't interesting, you know,
that shows you how much he, he loves his,
his pilot he wants it to go forward he's willing to dip his toe back of the schmo down with that
you know he's don't let him fool you chris is that in he's not an innocent party in all of this i know
know he was as he was as bad as we were just in a different way you know like hey mike mike
he didn't like it unless he came up with it so you know it goes both i get the text hey it like
like two in the morning hey mike mike mike did you see that thing roker just tweeted go and tweet
out against him then but say this and now he's like why do you wake up to fights on twitter why
You'd wake up to like, hey, fuck you out wrong.
Fuck you and your horse.
Yeah, I remember the one Kaiser and I got it.
I got into it on Twitter over like, yeah, the cheating accusation.
I was like, what the fuck?
I was blown away that Kaiser would ever think that.
And I had to go back and forth with him about it.
And it was real.
And then Christian checks to me.
He's like, oh, don't do that.
I was like, you didn't have a problem when we were all doing it to support the show.
Well, you think you can, you think it can corral the horses?
Are you insane?
So, yeah, it's a lot.
I don't think he'd, even yesterday when he,
when we got on the phone, he sounded exhausted even talking about it.
So it's like, yeah, exactly.
Jordan Garvin says, apparently Indy Navarrete turned down a role in Heat 2 for X-Men.
Would you all rather have job security with a role like X-Men or be in a potential Oscar-winning movie alongside Leo and bail?
Ooh.
Well, for me, it'd be the X-Men, just because the superhero aspect of it.
I would have to, as much as I, there's a large part of me that would want to be a part of,
part of Heat too, I think the X-Men route would be the route I would take because there seems
there's more security. And especially if I would be one of the big roles like Rogue, I would
absolutely take that over being like De Niro's girl or De Niro's, what was it like a, sorry,
Christian Bale or DiCaprio's girlfriend or whatever. I would take that over that. And Michael
Man does not have a good track record recently. So do I trust Jake Schreier who did a nice
Thunderbolts movie or do I trust Michael Mann who's a bit hit or
lately so yeah i would go to exman robert yeah uh karen von d what's up vaughan vanda vaughan
says five jewels treat thank you karen uh nick de grease says 30 jewels flower think i don't know
what any of this stuff means to be on yeah roxy had it explained to me yesterday oh she did
rox is on top of these things huh yeah they're like they're like those jewels you can like
allocate them and then you buy a lot and then you allocate them to where you want them to go
and then like the flower thing is like an emoji that we just don't get the
see. Oh, okay. Fair point.
Railroad tie. What's up?
Was it five beans for the boys.
Wish I could do more fellas. Much love.
Thank you, railroad. No, thank you, bud.
Yeah, yeah. Seattle chaos says,
morning, fellas. I'm really digging Lantern so
far and hope it is the start of something huge for the DCU.
Feels like they could use a win about now.
Yeah, Mike, what are your feelings about DC? Do you think
they're in the desperate states that you could use a win just because
Supergirl didn't do that well? No. Like, I saw
that, like, someone posted it. And again,
I don't know what
I mean, I know there's Peacemaker and other creature commandos, but for me, D.C. was Superman. That started it. That was the big kickoff. Supergirl was the follow-up. Didn't do well. Let's entrance is the next one in the chamber. I know, I know Peacemaker too. But it's still tied to the old stuff. And Creature Commandos is there. Like, I don't. I don't feel it's like they were in the shit or needed a win. I think they needed a win to come back after Supergirl. Like, hey, it was bad. Let's do something great. If they had two not good hits in a row, that would have been probably.
but I think this is going to set up great.
I think we're going to see John Stewart, you know,
people love him in this role and then they're going to be,
they're going to tune into Manda Tomorrow because he's in that.
Like, I just feel, I love this.
I think the show is great.
Like, I think, you know.
Yeah. But I, I've seen easy, I'm an easy sell.
I've only seen one episode.
Okay, okay.
So here's the thing.
I'll say real quick.
I'm outside of, and Roxy kind of said this yesterday,
outside of Batman, Hal Jordan is my favorite comic book character of all time,
not even Marvel or DC.
Just all,
I loved him.
But anyone knows me for social media for the past.
You probably don't see me talking a lot of them because that Ronald Reynolds movie,
I felt like when I walked out of Batman and Robin,
like it just crushed me.
And I stopped reading the comics,
you know,
I just,
but I was excited for this,
but I'm like,
well,
let's see what they do.
And then Comic-Con,
that's turned it around,
not turned around,
really kicked it off because he showed us six scenes.
And me and McClung were in the,
and we just like,
this show's going to be great.
Yeah.
And,
then to see the full episode
and I think every clip they showed us
was only from the first episode.
So right.
Yeah, I think, you know,
but again, I think,
as you guys have mentioned,
I think the big thing is,
is the merger.
I don't, if WB was not being sold
and we were full of steamhead,
I think we'd feel a lot more confident
in the future of DC.
Because right now,
I think they're in a holding pattern.
I think they know who their Wonder Woman is.
I think they know who their Batman is,
but I don't think they can announce those yet.
I think sometimes you have,
to ignore the noise, right?
Yeah, yeah. I've got, I've had
my issues with James Gunn, not with his
work, right? My issues are more like how he
responds to stuff and right, yeah, yeah, if he's
telling the truth or not, sometimes when he responds
stuff, but like, for me, the work
itself, I thought Superman was great. I bought it in
4K, you know, I really enjoy that movie. It's fun.
Yeah, I remember because before
you were, like, you know, the gun stuff and
and I had talked to McClung, I was like,
Rokea, D.C. Superman, what does he think? And he goes, he loved it.
Yeah. I was like, oh, shit.
I love the hell out of Superman.
And Supergirl was fine.
It was fine.
I think the mistakes were that they didn't trust the material and just go full on into the material.
If they had done that, then you can go like, well, look, it didn't do well, but we're proud of the movie we made.
And I think that's really important.
And the fact that they didn't do that, I think, is they tried to play both sides and all sides.
And it didn't really work out.
It didn't have a point of view, a strong point of view.
Right.
By the end, you're like, oh.
So I think that's a, that's a.
fumble, it's a loss for sure.
But like I said, we have
lanterns looks like it's going to be a damn good series
with one of the highest rated Rotten Tomato
Series for DC. And now you've got
a Clayface
coming, which people are crazy excited
for him. I think that'll do well.
Right. And then Man of Tomorrow. And so
there is a very strong possibility
that DC is like just going to be in a
really good place by the time Man of
Tomorrow is over. And then all these people
who thought it was, you know, but
it's because people have this idea of like, oh, where's
super?
Oh, sorry, where's Batman?
Where's Wonder Woman?
I know, I know.
It's not there yet.
So, yeah.
We'll see.
We'll see.
We'll see, exactly.
Green says, I'm keen to see a political show with you too fond.
Oh.
Oh.
Yeah, Harloff's asshole is clenching right now.
It's like, P.L.E., cut him off.
Cut him off.
Yeah, his asshole is fucking clenching.
Don't let him say the name that can and shall not be named.
Don't let him say the name that shall not be named.
No, I mean, well, I can.
If Mike and I did a political show,
it would last maybe a few episodes
where we set the studio on fire.
Because there's just so much to be angry about nowadays
from our points of view.
And so I don't know,
it would just be kind of like repeating the same things over and over again.
So,
Eric Kirby says,
Roker,
being a Star Trek fan,
thoughts on Mr.
Reiker directing a Star Wars movie
or any upcoming comic book movie.
He's a very good director.
Go Cowboys.
Oh, boy.
I don't think they would bring Riker back
to direct a movie
or any comic book movie.
He's a good TV director.
I don't know that he's a good feature film director.
And I think, there's like Leonard Nimoy,
he did what, a couple of the Star Trek movies,
and they were fine, but then, you know,
he knew where his bread was buttered.
It wasn't doing that because it's a lot of work.
I tell you what, Rikers or Frakes' podcast
that he does with Brent Spiner,
that's a fun time.
That's a great watch.
If you guys aren't watching that,
they just had Michael Dorn on there,
which is a really great conversation.
they just had Jane Leaves from Frazier on there
to promote her bio.
That was a great conversation.
And so what I would love to see them do some Star Trek TV
like direct some of that stuff.
That would be great.
But movie-wise,
I don't think Franks would be that great of a movie director,
honestly.
And he's getting old, you know?
He's up there.
Ozzy Smith, is there a Marvel property guys
would like to see a mature TV show for like Lanterns
and the Penguin?
Good question.
Well, it was.
Well, that was my hope for what Moon Knight was going to be.
Oh, yeah.
That one took a tank and, yeah.
Not really, man, I think.
No.
I mean, I wish they had done a Punisher.
Like, one last kill was fine, but it got a bit like, okay, this is murder porn, you know.
And so I would like to see a darker approach to Punisher that really explores those things.
you know because that first season i think kind of hit on some of that stuff that was really great
not the second season so much but i think the first season did so i'd like to see
yeah yeah yeah more of that down the road yeah yeah yeah i would like to see that uh i don't know
what else i would want to want i mean a nick fury one not with samuel l but someone coming in to
replace nick fury because nick did a lot of shit when he was younger in the comics so that
yeah that was my hope i was thinking in the um
20 or with Fantastic 4 when they're set on whatever Earth that was 616 or whichever
yeah that was I was like you know what how cool it be if we see that that Nick Fury is like
the classic right Nick Fury from the comics like a like a a cigar yeah yeah like I say white guy
but you know what I mean I mean oh yeah but it's so funny so oh my gosh so just real quick yeah so
someone was where was it it was something they were showing Nick Fury and someone on Twitter was
like man why did they make him a white guy in this
And I asked, like, hey, man, no, no disrespect.
How old are you?
And she says, they said, I'm so and so.
And so I was like, oh, so they came in from the MCU.
They didn't know what he looked like, because they were kind of like,
this is kind of disrespectful, why they turn him into a white dude?
I'm just like, okay.
But I would have loved to seen him be like the head of shield in that universe.
Yeah.
And kind of do like a show with him in that universe.
That would be cool.
But they did not.
Yeah.
Got to have balls, man.
I think nowadays, or guts rather.
But nowadays, you've got to have some guts, man.
And having a white Nick Fury to come in, to have him and Samuel L go toe to toe to be a lot of fun.
And Samuel Jackson's pushing 80.
I know, right?
Yeah, he doesn't move.
Chicken.
Like, you know, I think in all the multiverse shenanigans that they do and all the shit, I give the multiverse.
You see, the classic Nick Fury versus which is the essential ultimate version, which is Samuel Jackson, interact.
That should be great.
Yeah, agreed.
You're right.
That would be great.
Samuel is 77 years old.
old, bro. He can't move like he did
in the first Avengers movie. So, you know,
you got to make the changes.
Yeah. Thank you.
Thank you. Appreciate that.
Ray says, I just want to salute
what the Cineophiles did with Oppenheimer
Chef's Kiss. Oh, thank you, Ray. I appreciate that.
Yeah, for those you don't know, it's
C-I-N-E-D-L-E-S. That's our play on the Cinephiles.
It's all, wherever you download a podcast,
we've been doing that show for 10 years.
We're up to our 500th episode
coming up to him.
man. Yeah. And we average about 150 to 200,000 downloads a month for all the stuff we do on that show.
So please come and listen to that show. You guys would thoroughly enjoy it. I am a different John Roke on that show than I am on any of these shows.
Much more laid back, much more intellectual, much more analytical in looking at movies. Because I love movies and pieces.
And my co-host, Steve Morris, is a film director from L.A. and a writer and producer. So you know you're getting the inside and the outside points of views.
A.O. She says, 10 Jules, have it. Poop. There you go.
go. Happy shit.
Vaseline-based, Roca, you struggle with reading at times?
Dyslexia?
No, it's because I finished fucking your dad last night.
I'm a little discombobulated, so I can't read the things as well as I did in the past.
So, yeah, that's kind of what happens.
Because when I get some really good sex, the next morning, my brain's a little like,
my brain's a little kind of like messed up.
Sorry, sorry, Vaseline based.
Sorry.
So I don't read this comment.
I'm like, oh, here we go.
It's going to be awesome.
Oh, my God.
PLD, oh, no, PLD, more iconic miscue,
Flash or Bestman.
Oh, I would see, how.
Flash!
Ah, Mr. Sam Jones.
Like that.
I don't, Tatooine.
I don't, tattooing.
Two.
I don't, Tatooine.
Two.
I'm an old man.
I'm confused.
I wasn't confused.
I just didn't know, man.
I mean, I wasn't as hardcore of a Star Wars watcher
as a,
A lot of the nerds who were watching in their underwrews, their 20-year-old underwrews.
So I didn't know Bespin.
But I would say the more iconic Ms. Q was hiring PLD to write the questions because it really
took a nose guy after he was hired to write the questions.
PJ was great.
But, you know, like, he was close.
Do you need those guys back?
Oh, yeah.
I wish.
You wish you looked like Mr. T.
Chris Scaliske.
I miss Chris a lot.
He wrote great questions back in the day.
You know, because you never knew.
Those two pointers at times could be five-pointers.
You just never knew.
Like, I was watching the battle with Guy the other day
and they asked, what's the town in high noon as a two-pointer?
And I was like, oh, my God.
But it was like, nobody would know that.
I got it right there.
There was, I don't remember who fucking wrote this question.
It was during an IG match.
And it was, I think, Taylor Blundon.
Okay.
And the question was, in Bloodshot,
what is the name of the airport they land in?
And I was just like, I'm in the audience going, what the fuck is that?
They don't even say it.
It's in a title card at the bottom of the screen.
And bloodshot, like, fuck you, whoever wrote that one.
Fuck you.
I'm pretty sure PLD wrote that.
No, it wasn't me.
Actually, that one wasn't me.
Fucking bullshit.
That's like a Smets and Me level ultimate schmodeon.
spectacular up for the belt five-point or final rounder.
That ain't Taylor Blundon level first round bullshit.
They should let the play.
I still remember that.
I still remember that question.
Of course.
I remember them asking you about the names of the hands from Ironman.
I remember you and I was like,
you and dummy.
I was like, that's an insane question.
In the audience, I was like, what the fuck?
Yeah, no.
Yeah.
I would have never gotten that, dude.
So some of those questions were insane.
Some of those questions were out of control for sure.
But I have said this, I said this the last two years of the show,
that Christian should have brought in former players to write the questions.
Because we know what it's like to be in there.
We know the level of what's a two-point or one point or five-point or three-point or that kind of thing.
So I think we know better than the writers because they don't play.
They don't play.
Black fiction says, in honor of lanterns, what is your favorite buddy cop movie?
Mine is Die Hard with a Vengeance and Toy Story if you think about it.
Okay.
Oh, broca, what's yours?
Mine's always going to be running scared.
Billy Crystal, Gregory Hines, 1980s.
I love that. Listen, lethal weapon is the bar, right?
That's what I was going to say.
My favorite is running scared.
I mean, running scared is just so much fun,
unrecognized, underappreciated, rather,
80s classic with Gregory Hines and a hardcore Billy Crystal.
This is not joking playfully.
Like, he's a little more harder edge in the movie.
There are jokes, but he's a little more harder edge
than he normally would have been in other things.
So yeah. What about you?
I mean, my go-to would have been lethal weapon, but also I get to give a midnight run.
It's not really a buddy cop movie kind of is.
It's not really buddy cops.
It's not both cops.
Yeah, yeah, right.
That kind of duo, one's a cop or bounty runner.
And like that's, yeah.
But he does help him.
So in a way, he's like cop-adjacent.
So I think it could qualify for sure, yeah.
I am two-fly camps.
It's sad to see where Star Wars is right now.
There's a movie coming out next May and the X-Men got more attention than time.
when their movie is two years away, just sad.
Yeah, the D-23 stuff, yeah, people are more excited for the X-Men stuff than Starfighter.
You know, Harleff and I, we talked about this.
Like, we knew Mandu and Grogu wasn't the, hey, is Star Wars back?
Right.
Wasn't going to do that.
But Starfighter, he said, I think he's the one that says, like, that's going to be the test.
And it just doesn't seem like that's getting the attention.
I mean, I like Ryan Gosling, but he is, to me, not the sure thing that a lot of people think.
he is. Like I love fall
guy. I don't know about you. I thought
that was so much fossom. I loved it
but that didn't do well. But then you got Barbie
Fall guy.
Project Hail Mary. So it's just like he's a hit or miss. He's not like a guarantee
thing. Yeah. Project
Elmary was really great. Yeah. He was so
good in that. And I'm like there's nothing
he did in Project Helmerie that he didn't do
and Fall Guy. It just is
for whatever reason the way Fall guy was
constructed. Yeah. Yeah.
You know, but Lord Miller are better directors than David
Leach, I would say. So maybe that's why.
Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Yeah.
Griny from Oz.
Once a year, Smodown event would be epic.
You'd have to pay us, man.
Listen, honestly, the pay would have to be, if it was going consistently every year,
because you'd spend 12 months getting ready.
It's not like, oh, you know, it's next week.
Let me start studying. You'd have to spend 12 months getting ready,
especially with some of PLD's questions.
Yeah.
Ron H.
There he is.
Lots of money in Ron H's bank account.
Good to hear, Ron.
Yeah, good to see, Ron.
Black fiction, in the style of Lancers,
what Marvel do would you want to see
in a grounded show or movie?
I would want Luke Cage and Iron Fist
or Wolverine and Punisher.
I kind of answered a little bit wild.
Like, I would love to see a Nick Fury
kind of grounded.
Actually, no, I shouldn't say that.
I'd rather him be more kind of comic-up cookie.
Maybe Moon Night.
man, maybe that's, I'm still hoping for a grounded, awesome down and dirty moon night TV show.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I love the idea of Luke Caj and Iron Fist.
You know, I've never watched the Iron Fist series.
And I think at some point I'm going to sit down on a weekend and just knock out both seasons.
But like, you're for a long, you're on for a long weekend.
That's what I hear.
That's what I hear.
You are.
In for it.
But I think with this much distance, maybe I can be a bit more forgiving.
But I don't know.
We'll see.
Trust me, pal.
It's not good.
Like an iron and green here.
It's not good.
It's not good.
We'll see, we'll see.
But like, I held the other day, I almost put on Rise of Skywalker,
because I've never seen it since I saw it in the theaters.
Me neither.
I laughed through the last hour of that movie.
It was so bad.
But like, I was seeing maybe I could give it a shot again, see what's up.
But like with this situation, I think Luke Cage and Iron Fist,
of you, of course, recast Iron Fist, maybe they're going to recast Luke Cage.
I don't know. Well, actually, the older is coming back.
So, but like, I would love to see a ground-based.
That would be really interesting with those two.
Like, I think Marvel kind of had a missed opportunity with Fantastic Four in the sense that they created that world.
Like, I would love to see like a Luke Cage and Iron Fist on that world.
Like, that was my hope that they were going to spend some time over there.
We would see their version of Spider-Man set in this kind of 60s-ish 70s.
Yeah, yeah.
Nebulous time period where Luke Cage and Iron Fist, you know, we're pinnacle of the 70s.
you know, black exploitation and everything,
Kung Fu movies, like,
right in that and give us that vibe.
That would be awesome.
Yeah, I agree with that.
What's the one I really want?
I would love to see,
I think it's DC,
but I would love to see a combo,
I know it's DC of Hellblazer and Batman
in a ground-based story.
Oh, yeah.
I would love to see that.
And you say ground-based with Hellblazer
when he's dealing with the demon,
hell and heaven.
But I think it would be interesting
to see Batman dealing with that.
who does at times, you know, has the demonic thing that he approaches sometimes.
So yeah, I would be down with that.
Yeah, we'll see, we'll see.
All right, let's see here.
What's the next one?
It is Ae O'Shee.
Will Jelly Roll appear in future lanterns episodes?
Jelly Roll.
What am I missing with that?
Just that he keeps asking questions about jelly roll every time.
Oh, okay.
Christian does not pay attention to the jelly roll saga.
Yeah, the jelly roll saga, yes.
The divorce that's happening now with Bunny.
Cooley hi. Spoiler question, fam.
Does Spidey have his web shooters,
organic webs at the end of the movie?
What are your thoughts?
Be easy.
Good to see you, Cooley.
Hope your book says to cool.
Coolie.
I don't know.
I don't know.
They really kind of, they did that mutants.
He's mutating thing and then just kind of drop it.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know what he is anymore.
Good question.
Despite he have his web shoes or organic webs at the end of the movie.
I feel like he has his organic webs because by the end of the movie,
he's kind of embraced, right?
his evolution or change?
Yeah.
I think he has organic webs for sure,
which will be a topic of conversation
if he runs into Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man,
in Secret Wars or something,
which is totally going to happen.
So we'll see.
Tristan Green, support for both of the clapback kings.
Damn right.
Oh, thank you.
Ask Vaseline how it feels now.
I am two-flight cam with Spadian Ali available.
Who would you cast them as in the DCU?
Would you rather cast them in Reeves'
Batman universe, Batmobile,
looking sexy.
Is it Kali Spani and who's Ali?
Who's Ali? I don't know who Ali is.
Paul, a PLD, can you enlighten us on who Ali might be?
Or Ali? Is it Ali? I don't know who that is.
I'm not sure, to be honest.
Yeah.
I'm looking to. I have two-flight game. Can you verify that in the chat?
Can you verify that in the chat? But yeah, what do you think about Spain?
Where'd you put her?
Oh. Oh, Maharsala Ali. Oh.
I don't know, man.
I don't have I don't really care for casting like that like I say this as I was two years ago when I saw Rebel Ridge I was like I don't do this but Aaron Pierre needs to be John Stewart I don't say because I was like I don't like to do that like oh he's the hot new actor and let's put him in a superhero movie like Ali I don't really need to see him in a superhero film he's so good I just want to see him working yeah it seems like that blade thing took him away from so many projects.
I just want to see that guy out there in a fucking movie.
Yeah.
He's got that your mother, your mother movie coming out later on this year,
which looked badass.
So it's good to be doing something.
I agree with you, man.
We've kind of missed Maharshali on the big.
Yeah.
It's been a bit.
I mean, listen, if you were going to do a remake of,
if you were going to do rather a live action version of Dark Night Returns,
Kaylee Spaney would be perfect as the young Robin.
She would be great in that.
Yeah.
You could mess around and make her, I guess you could make her,
I don't know.
I mean, Kitty Pride
is a possibility, right? Shadowcat?
I mean, yeah, I don't know.
Or maybe even,
I guess, she could be a Harley Quinn,
I suppose, could be possible,
or back girl. She could be Barbara Gordon
now that you don't have a back girl.
Yeah.
Maybe, yeah.
But Mahars Ali, I would love him as black hand.
That would be interesting to see if ma'am's,
or black mask rather, as black mask.
Okay, oh, okay.
That could be interesting, right?
I don't know.
We'll see.
True 311 says, will we get another green lantern film under the DCU?
Oh, yeah, right?
I think if John Stewart, if, what's his face is?
Oh, yeah.
Love it.
Yeah.
Well, I don't, I mean, yeah, because I mean, I know the writers want to go for as long as they can.
They'll keep going.
So, I don't know.
Yeah.
I don't have an answer for that.
I hope so, because it all depends because let's be real.
It's a black green lantern.
Will people come out for a Brock Green Lantern?
I don't know.
I think you have to build up.
You know, people are enjoying lanterns.
How is it going to be a man of tomorrow?
And I think that could be possible.
But as Michael said earlier,
it all depends on that merger, man.
No matter what you want to do,
it all depends on that thing.
Armada says,
would you compete in a mob movie,
Schmodel out?
I would.
Absolutely.
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
I love mob movies,
but not enough.
Yeah.
I would have no problem
rewatching mob movies for a thing like that.
A.O. She says,
as soon as I saw Aaron Pierre Rebel Ridge,
I knew the MCU or
DCU would come calling. He was phenomenal in that and so far perfect as John Stewart.
Yeah. Yeah, Mike, he's got a stillness. That's not easy to do. His stillness versus what
Kyle is doing as an actor. You know this. It's tough to play still. And he is doing that really well.
It's interesting. I're not going to throw them under the bus, but you and I both know someone that's
involved with lanterns in the, and the show. And that person had said is like, yeah, they,
they were a little concerned about Pierre, his actor. And I don't know, but those were also some of the
same people that said that they weren't sure about
Millioti in the penguin.
Right, right. And look what that went on to do.
But I'm watching, like, oh, when you've got Cal Chandler doing what he's doing,
Pierre is much more subtle, much more still.
But it just works. That's why it works for the two of them.
Because he has to be.
They're great together.
Yeah.
And Pierre is also in Starfighter as well.
Is he really?
Oh, that's right.
I saw your dream.
Like, that's fantastic.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That'll be great for him.
Ron Hanks, his levels of difficulty.
Low, medium, high.
Smets.
We
you know,
hey.
Mance in there
somewhere.
Yes,
go ahead.
Yeah.
I mean,
you know,
your church
says you say right there,
Rone age,
but just don't tell Peter.
Ha,
ha,
ha,
ha,
ha.
I know what's watching this,
so,
yeah.
He's totally watching this.
Chris Kraus says,
buddy movies.
Let's have Mike
and Roka star
in the odd couple
making a short
on viral marketing.
We'll have the cast
with old players,
done and done.
That I do.
I'm absolutely
the messy guy. Totally, totally, totally. Armada says
Rokin-Snyder team up or Patriots would come
back. Shit, I don't know if I could team up with Snyder
and the showdown. That's a hot mic team. I mean, I love to pairing
with JTE. I mean, God damn it. If J.T. had gotten that frozen two question
right, we'd have beaten Paul and fucking lawn and gone into the possible
title match. I hated us losing to Ben and Dan. I wanted a shot
because I played a bad game in that game. I wanted a shot
getting to that title with JT because JT
was a great partner. I mean, he was so
a good guy. So, he is.
It was really amazing to have someone
invested in who accepts you for who you
are. Yeah, yeah.
Battery said, Sam Ego
acting like an intellectual.
Battery chimed in the other day on Twitter.
You know what? He has six followers. I feel
bad for you. Six. Can't
you say anything more interesting to get
you more than six followers?
But here's the thing. You've been on Twitter
for a while, too. So that tells you
that nobody is paying attention to you.
You only have six.
PLD could fart and get six followers for guns.
I at least,
at least the people that go at you,
Roca,
at least they comment on this show.
I got so many people,
I'll go at them on fucking Twitter,
you know,
back and forth.
And then they'll drop it.
It's like,
yeah,
well,
keep talking your shit on Harloff show.
So they fucking watch.
Oh,
yeah.
Balls that come into the fucking chat.
Yeah.
They got the,
at least your guys,
at least come into the chat,
come at you both times.
I appreciate that.
Yeah.
I would appreciate that too.
Yeah.
Come at me face to face.
I was so many people are like,
go go fucking talking shit at Harlov Show,
dick.
I'm like,
oh,
you know who I am.
You know where you're watching right now,
you're prick.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a tear of people coming at John Roker's face.
That's an extra tear on Patreon, I guess.
That's a what did you say?
Don't you fucking go nowhere.
Don't you fucking go nowhere.
Keep him here.
I get your shine box, PLD.
Armada says, would you rather have a Nolan mobster film or horror film?
Oh, fuck you, Nolan mobster, 100%.
A godfather from Nolan?
100%.
Yeah, that'd be something.
Yeah, I'm not a horror guy, so I don't really care about that.
Yeah, a mob movie by him.
Yeah.
That would be amazing.
Now you got me excited.
That would be amazing.
Fucking bring him into direct heat, too.
I bet it'd be so much better.
Oh, my God.
Yoshimitsu says, I love Fall Guy, but it wasn't.
was based on an old TV show I had never heard of.
Well, let me tell you about Barbie from the 1950s.
But, you know, what are your thoughts on this, man?
That's interesting.
I mean, like my girlfriend, Shannon, she didn't know Fogg.
I was a movie or TV show.
Oh.
And I was like, oh, God, yeah.
But again, that's that's that thing that nostalgia, there's generations that don't know
us old man in our TV shows.
That's another reason why the A team should have been so much better,
been so much more well received.
The A team's great.
Oh, yeah.
movie from 2010 with
Oh, yeah.
Carnahan.
Great movie.
That was a damn good.
I thought that was going to get a sequel.
Yeah.
He even came out recently.
He's like, yeah, we should be on our fourth sequel by now.
He's like, you should have been.
Yeah, should have been.
It was fucking good.
Yoshios falls up says, I love Project Tail Mary.
It was based on a very popular recent book from the author of the Martian.
The difference in box office makes sense to me there, even though I'm a fan of both.
I just think.
What do you mean by that?
Like, you understand it did well?
Because it was a book.
was more recent. He thought it did well.
Oh, I should say you. Because, yeah.
Yeah.
No.
I don't know. It's all about execution, isn't it?
And it's all about people getting involved in the project, getting excited about the project, and then delivering.
And I would say, again, that Lord and Miller are better directors than David Leach.
So David Leach did well enough. But it's not like he has a history outside of the John Wake
universe of doing films that blow up the, I mean, Bullet Train was a fun time.
And that didn't do that well at the box office. So just kind of is.
a situation with David Leach, whereas Lord Miller have really developed strong trust from the audience.
And I think that film was amazing, you know?
Current projects or not, I think is somewhat irrelevant when you look at that kind of stuff.
It's all a matter of like, well, can you deliver something really good that makes people get excited about it?
So, yeah.
All right, there are no more questions left, PLD.
Is there anything more we need to cover or talk about?
That's all we got here.
Anything more?
Or shall we wrap it up?
Anything more?
We're good to go.
If you guys are.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah.
I'm good to go.
Take a shit on you.
Yeah, buddy.
Let's do it.
All right.
Let's get out of here.
Thanks, everybody, for watching this episode of the Christian Harlov show.
Big shout out to Mike Kalanowski.
Mike, let people know where they can get out of here.
Get out of it.
That was projecting.
Old man.
Come on.
You can find us on Twitter where I'm yelling at the fucking clouds.
I'm yelling at windmills like Don Quixote over there.
I love it.
Keep fighting.
Don't listen to Christian.
Keep fighting.

Depends on how the stories pan out throughout the day
if I'm interested in going live.
Look for that.
If not, I'll have a review
probably of the end of Oak Street later on today as well.
So we'll see how that goes down.
And maybe even a review on the new season of Reacher,
which I finished and thoroughly effing loved.
So we'll see with all of that.
But yeah, thank you, everybody.
