The Kristian Harloff Show - Street Fighter Wins The Weekend While Whalefall Sinks!
Episode Date: October 19, 2026Another Star Wars movie has been put on ice! After years of development, Taika Waititi's planned Star Wars film is no longer moving forward in the immediate future, raising even more questions about L...ucasfilm's theatrical strategy and the future of the galaxy far, far away. On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we're breaking down the latest Taika Waititi Star Wars movie update, why the project has stalled, and whether Lucasfilm needs to rethink how it develops and announces new Star Wars movies. Originally announced in 2020, Waititi's Star Wars film was expected to bring a fresh perspective to the franchise. But after years without a production start date, the filmmaker has now indicated that the project is on ice as he moves on to other work. Is this another example of Lucasfilm struggling to get Star Wars movies off the ground? With so many announced projects facing delays, creative changes, or uncertain futures, what should Disney and Lucasfilm do to rebuild excitement for Star Wars on the big screen? We're also breaking down the latest weekend box office results! Street Fighter has taken the number one spot at the box office, opening to approximately $31 million domestically and $51 million worldwide. The latest live-action adaptation of Capcom's legendary fighting game franchise has attracted audiences, but is that enough to make Street Fighter a genuine theatrical success? With recognizable characters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and M. Bison, could strong word of mouth help the movie become another successful video game adaptation? Meanwhile, Whalefall is struggling at the box office despite receiving encouraging reviews. The survival thriller opened to approximately $8 million domestically and $17.5 million worldwide, falling short of expectations. Why did audiences turn out for Street Fighter while Whalefall struggled to attract moviegoers? And what does this say about the challenges facing original theatrical films? #StarWars #TaikaWaititi #Lucasfilm #Disney #StreetFighter #StreetFighterMovie #Whalefall #BoxOffice #YoungAvengers #MarvelStudios #MCU #KateBishop #KamalaKhan #PeterJackson #Tintin2 #LordOfTheRings #HuntForGollum #DunePartThree #DuneMessiah #DenisVilleneuve #JamesBond #007 #MovieNews #KristianHarloffShow SPONSORS: WARBY PARKER: Our listeners can buy one pair of glasses and get 20% off any additional pairs at https://www.WarbyParker.com/KRISTIAN — and using our link helps support the show. #WarbyParker #ad RUGIET: Head to https://www.Rugiet.com/KRISTIAN and get 15% off your ED treatment.

Street Fighter wins the weekend.
We all fall.
Not doing too good.
Got some updates about that Tychoa Titi Star Wars movie.
Is that thing going to happen?
I don't know.
Denise, I was out talking about June 3.
So we have a lot of stuff to discuss on the show today, myself and John Roker.
So let's get to it, everybody.
It's a Christian Arloff show.
There we go.
Did you shit in there?
Welcome back to the show, everybody.
hope you had a great weekend.
It is getting closer and closer to Halloween, as I'm told by my kids every single day.
Joining me on the show today as a...
Hello.
John Rowe is here.
How's it going on?
How are you, man?
Street fighter.
Did you see it?
I did see it, yes.
I have a feeling that we're going to be on totally opposite sides of the fence on this one.
But we'll talk about that in just a moment.
There's other things, you know, have you been watching the...
the carry series?
I have not got around to the carry series.
People telling me it's really good.
I like it a lot.
I really like it a lot.
Okay.
So last week, by the way,
John Roker won the week.
Oh.
And then we had...
And then Mike and Roxy coming in second.
Third was Chris Carr.
Four was Kevin Smets and Winston.
Just like the Cowboys coming in last.
Actually, it's not the truth.
Your team's in last right now,
but still I figured it would be nice to right now.
But if we win tonight, you know, if we pull off a miracle.
That's the truth.
So there's a lot going on.
Now, one of the things that are going on is you guys know is the last week of the Kickstarter.
It ends.
I got to try, are you doing the geek buddies this week?
Yeah, we're doing it probably Wednesday.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe, maybe, I don't know if you, I don't know if you, if you, if you'd want a little old,
little old me to be on there.
Of course.
We always, you're always welcome to come on.
I guess we just got to coordinate time, but I'd like to, because Thursday,
is our big live stream and I was going to see if you want to pop on if you have any time on
Thursday yeah we were doing a I should have time sure we're doing like a 10 hour stream so if you
got a little bit of time you want to pop in and uh and check it out that would be great um it's
what it's hell today is a 10 hour live stream I know 10 hour live stream is going to be is going
to be something but it's it's going to be good and right now currently so where we stand
everybody you're currently at 221 816 um with Thursday right on it's
here. So when we're building towards those stretch goals, and I'm going to show you what some of those
stretch goals are. And so check this out right now. I'm going to bring this up on my shot. Here it is,
and these are the stretch goals that are up right now. So they, we basically unlock that 16 person
full tournament that you guys know. I also have some news pretty soon that we know the location
where we're going to be shooting that. That's another big thing that I have not revealed yet. That's going to
that's going to be going down pretty soon too um so we did unlock the character breakdowns those
will go up momentarily they'll go pretty soon now 225 is the big thing i wanted to discuss
um now not only you're going to get the trending playlist as you see there john i did a big
thing over the weekend and i said it was i don't know what day it was i'm friday night
okay friday night but i got a um
I got a text about something.
At 225, we are going to be announcing a major casting announcement for our show.
Nice.
So much so that it's going to change the game in general of, I believe, how people will look at this show.
It's pretty special.
And I was pretty blown away from the nice words that were said from this person.
And then this person not only said, I'm going to do the show, said announce me and said, I want to do the podcast.
Oh, that's great.
Bringing attention to it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that to me is going to be pretty big in general.
And we are excited for that one.
And now we're building towards it.
And I think that once that comes out, also you'll see what we're really.
building towards and want to try to get build even more so around cast and and when you get
the descriptions of the characters and everything else people are going to be able to start to see
ideas and things of of one one of the things is the character who we have cast is on the description
right and people kind of guessing and i and having thoughts and ideas and things of that nature will
be fun all in itself but this one i think is it's i believe it's already up on the kick starter if it's
not it will be soon have you seen have you seen the add-ons for the schmodeown sneakers uh sneakers
no there's sneakers hey look at that nice oh is it good that's my that's my favorite i do like that
i'm gonna send this out to the universe i want that we're back one in excel i love that one oh
for t-shirts yeah i love that one this one here yeah that one yeah that's fucking awesome it's good
right it's Brian Ward special right there.
Yeah.
So we are, so all that stuff going down right now, a lot of great things happening right now.
So pretty excited.
You got to get involved with the Outlaw sneakers.
One of the outlaw nation sneakers.
Come on now.
I know.
I know.
I know.
So we're pretty pumped about that.
And I think so that's a good question.
Someone asked when the live stream starts.
It's the same time at, at, uh, 10 o'clock.
We already confirmed some of the people that I,
tell you can are confirmed already is we're going to get Ellis again but at some at
nice I had originally kind of pitched him to come in at the uh 11 o'clock
area of EST and he just he wasn't able to do that one so he's going to be he'll be on
just trying to find a time for him yeah Craig's obviously confirmed martini's confirmed
um Chris has confirmed roca is going to be able to do what I'd like to actually do is maybe
the 12 to 2 normal show is maybe have everybody come in you
Winston, Roxy.
I can do like a big old S-E-N live type show from 12 to 2 and do that.
So,
old school.
Yeah,
old school.
And then Sam and Ming are going to be live in studio together.
So that's going to be good.
Free to be back on.
And then I'm just booking out the rest of them.
So it's going to be pretty exciting.
So that starts at 10 a.m.
East Coast time.
for people.
Oh, there you go.
He's just,
you know, so 9 a.m.
would be where you'd be thinking for someone like me on the way.
Yeah,
it's like the normal,
it's like the normal time that we do,
you know,
the,
this show.
It's like this time,
you know,
and I,
I want to,
I'm going to reach out to all the hosts.
And I,
my goal is that every,
and Mike,
Mike is the only one that might probably might not be able to do it
because of his work schedule.
Oh,
Kalinowski.
Yeah,
yeah,
but I'm going to try to,
I'd love to try to try to see what kind of craziness we can do with the full roster on.
and then with Smets, maybe playing games with people and just, it's like a complete lunatic show for like two hours.
Yeah.
You know, and that way, and that way again, like everybody will get the bonus again for that for being on at the same.
Oh, yeah, that's very kind.
That's right.
That'll be nice.
So anyway, that's what we got going on.
And right now, we're looking for, um, we're looking for, uh, you know, people to get excited and
we're going to, we're going to have a good time.
But can you hint at who this person is, the actor?
Can you hint at it at it all?
I can say that they've been in some pretty good.
movies. Okay. That's what I can say. All right. That's exciting.
P.L. David, would you, would you give me a thumbs up on saying that I could,
I can pretty much say, you can pop in and just give thumbs up if you think that's the case.
I'm excited. I'm very excited. So, um, it's excited about a bowel movement.
No, but you, you would, you know, John, I'm, I'm, you know what, John? I'm, I'm, I'm going
to text you right now who it is. I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to text you. Yeah, I'm
love this. I want to get, I want to get your, uh, and it's, and it's, it's one of the, it's one of the
major roles in the show. He always happy. Caleb Williams came back, played well. He must be
on cloud. Look at that text. Hey now. Pretty good, right? That's a great. I love that guy.
Yeah. So don't. So don't. So don't mean to give away the same. Too much for that.
So that's, you're the worst with spoilers. So don't give away anything. I'm the Tom Holland of
spoilers. I know. All I'll say is this, that's an excellent, exciting choice. I love that.
Isn't that, isn't that, isn't that, isn't that, big fan of this person, person? Person. Yeah. So when that, when that, when that, when that, when that, when that, when that,
And I was told, I had a, I had a smile on my face for, I mean, it hasn't gone, really hasn't gone away.
Yeah.
Yeah.
When, when that person tells you, they like your script, it's like, maybe.
That means a lot.
Right?
Like, really, like, really responded to the script.
Like, that to me makes, um, it made me really happy.
And, um, so I'm, I'm, I'm pretty pumped. Um, anyway.
So let's, um, yeah, the, the, the, the person will elevate that role tremendously.
I think so.
tremendously of course yeah um that person is very adept at doing all kinds of different types of
movies and so you've got a very talented person on board for sure right yeah i mean yeah so um
that to me was uh that alone i think people are going to really respond to so it's incredible
i mean i couldn't i couldn't have i couldn't have imagined when writing it that that person would
be interested in doing it you know right right and now they are and it's it's great so
Um, anyway, Miles Dyson.
Let's, Miles Dyson.
Come on.
My favorite is that people who don't really, so that was the bit we were watching a Snyder cut.
Oh, yeah.
And so every time Joe, um, what's, what's his name?
Joe, uh, Joe, uh, Joe, mangan of the yellow.
No, no, no, no, Miles.
Morton.
Thank you.
So Joe Morton.
Yeah.
Joe Morton was on.
I would just him off and go, Miles Dyson.
And, you know, if you really want to annoy people, you,
overdo the joke. And so that's what I would do throughout it. And people are just, and,
and what people don't understand is if you laugh along with it, you're part of the club.
If you start insulting me, I'm going to throw you out. And I don't care. It's like,
what do you think? Oh, please stick around. I don't need me. Go away. I'm on Miles Dyson
you until forever. Miles Dyson. Mike Tyson, chicken than riceon. Do you see street fight it with
them bison? Hey, that was good.
Good. Thank you. Anyway, let's talk about Street Fighter because it's the number one movie
right now. And I'm going to bring that up. So let's get, let's get to, I'm just going to bring up,
I'll bring up, well, I just love Joe Morton's breathing in that movie. Yeah, it's the best.
Where the hell is it? Box Office Street Fighter hits and Whale Fall does not. Did you see both of those
movies, Joe? I did not see Whale Fall. I didn't get around. I will be seeing maybe today or
tomorrow in the afternoon. But I did see Street Fighter and I worked on my,
my spoiler review for You Can See Everything. That was my weekend.
I really want to see that still. It's so good, dude. That's what I hear. Okay. So let's
let's talk about this. This is the box office street fighter hits and well fall drowns.
That's what they said. Which doesn't really surprise me to be completely honest with you.
It's a busy October weekend of the box office. It's multiple releases.
is this week doing varying levels of success at the top of Street Fighter, the film adaptation of
the Capcom video game, which is coming in on the softer side of expectations with 31 million
domestic opening weekend. The film is pulling on a lot of men over 35, nearly half of its business.
So much of that is impacting the other major wide release, and that is whale fall. Despite better
reviews than most wide releases this month, whale fall is coming in well below projections.
Its opening weekend is looking to be just 7.5 instead of the 10.12 that was suggested this week
and a fourth place start. Dominating the conversation is the,
the documentary, you can see everything,
which is exceeding expectations,
despite releasing on a limited footprint of 855,
around one quarter of Street Fighter,
it managed to debut in second place,
with the number expected to be around 13 million.
Critical reviews have been stellar.
Our film Other Mommy,
which won last weekend is dying of very quick death.
Oh, wow.
Poorly reviewed films looks to set to drop to 72%
in the second weekend for a 7.85 million
and managing to land in third.
So let me,
I'm going to just bring up the actual box office mojo here.
Okay.
Let's bring that for a street.
fighter there it is at 31 million with a total of 51 million for the worldwide take you can see
everything as they mentioned 15 million so far can't imagine that movie it could cost that much to make
so i'm sure it's doing pretty damn well other mommy at 78 million what even though it is as they say
dying a slow death i'm sure what is that what is the uh the budget for that one i think it was only
i think it was only like uh 18 or 20 million that's what i'm saying so even if it dies a slow death it's
still going to wind up making some kind of money.
Yeah, 18 to 19 million. It's already
made 80. So it's made its money. It's already
made its money. It might not be a big
huge success, but it's not going to be a loss.
And then Whalefall with
17.5, that movie had to cost at least
$40 million to make. With the special
effects and stuff? And everything. I'm going to guess.
I'm going to say that movie cost $42 million
to make. Okay.
By the way, the documentary
was only $7 million. Right.
So well fall was $60 million.
60. So that's going to be a loss.
And then sense and sensibility at 18 million.
I feel like this is the 80th version of sentence and sensibility.
Some stories never go out of style, bro.
I mean, I don't think I've ever seen a film version of sense and sensibility.
I don't mind what they do it.
It's, you know, it's even like, look, look at, I was thinking about this to the day,
because we just talked about Carrie, right?
There have been so many different adaptations of Carrie from the, that's true,
the late 70s.
They did that one terrible version of it.
Then they did the remake in 2011, and then they did this one.
And it's like just.
And it was interesting because my daughter is like loves the Carrie story.
She's reading the book.
She read the book.
She read the book like two three times ready.
She's watching the series.
And she said to me,
she says,
I just want to watch every adaptation of it.
And it's such a fascinating way,
fascinating way to look at it.
As opposed to people,
oh,
you know,
I don't ever want to see him make,
remake that movie.
It's like,
if you can see people just making this story as many times and just
kind of comparing which is which and which,
because she,
she's enjoying watching Carrie.
She's like,
she tells me every day.
It's not book accurate,
but it's not something.
supposed to be. She's like there, but she's like, there's a lot of cool nods to it.
There's things I love about it. There's other things. You know, there's different versions because
in the book, the mom's like this, but they're clearly going this way with it. She's like,
there's such a good interpretation of what they go on with like bullying today and how they do it.
And I finding him did a really great job in that. I thought. And it's, I'm really enjoying
the show. And I didn't have much of an interest in watching it outside that, you know,
Flanning is respected. Katie's in it. Like there's other things. But I'm so glad I'm watching it
because it's really solid.
It's one of the better things
that I've seen so far this year.
I like it a lot.
A lot of people saying it's really good.
I got to get around to that one and watch it.
And even that Crystal Lake one that's out.
The reviews have been high on that one.
So yeah.
Yeah.
My wife really wants to watch that.
And she's like,
let's give reactions to that.
And I'm like, okay.
So we're going to do,
we're going to do reactions to Crystal Lake, I think,
because she was, she loves for the,
she's not a horror person,
but she loves Friday 13th.
And it's a nostalgia thing for her when she used to watch her daughter, her sister and stuff, like growing up.
Yeah, yeah.
So anyway, but the box office itself.
Yeah.
Street Fighter, I think, is going to have the same kind of fate as he man.
It made its money in this opening weekend.
Yeah.
And that's it.
Yeah.
And the fact that it underperformed in its opening weekend, because I think the numbers were 40 to 50,
and it only got around 31 domestically, I think.
that's not a good sign.
I agree with you.
I don't think people are that interesting.
Listen, it's a stupid fun movie, and I went in thinking I was going to hate it,
and I had a good time with it, even though it's completely stupid.
It was opposite for me.
I liked the trailers, and I was hoping for like a really goofy kind of fun movie.
The humor just did not land for me at all.
Oh, yeah.
Differently than Masters, right?
Well, Masters, I didn't think a lot of the humor was called for.
I understood why the humor was called for.
I understood why the humor was called for in this movie.
I like, I understood it.
It wasn't like, oh, what kind of tone to be?
Because the Masters Universe argument against me,
well, you wanted to be serious?
I'm like, sometimes yeah.
And it could have been this one, I didn't need it to be serious.
I just needed it to be funny.
And it was never fun.
Well, it kept slamming into itself, right?
Because Ryu's storyline is really serious.
And Ken's storyline is much more funny.
So it just seemed odd the total shifts that kept slamming in.
It's like pick a lane.
Yeah, it felt like that.
Yeah.
in mind if you're going to go full goofy and full and okay it's fine and it wasn't like the he
man thing where it's like there's a moment and then they ruin it with a joke the the timing was was fine
it's just the stuff wasn't landing for me right you know and and then the fights like I wanted to see
more of the tournament in like actually mean something and it's just kind of it was just kind of there
and really disagree with you I was upset about the tournament not being actual fights yeah you know who
hated it was like that I really liked that's fine you know who hated it was Saturday afternoon
you know who hated this who never hates movies who roxy rxy hated this movie wow she never
hates movies she usually loves everything she hate this movie and i was on roxy's getting older
so she's going to be a little more like critical i don't know dude she loves she this this one just
didn't first of all don't let her hear you say that she can come we're all getting older it's not
it's not an indictment but um either way it's it wasn't um it will we'll see what we'll see what
happens in week two especially what's oh clay face is coming out too and i think that's yeah i think
that the clay face audience would probably be the same audience that would want to see streetfighter so
they're gonna if they're choosing to go and see clay face in the theater they're probably opting not
to see street fighter is the way that i would look at that is that this week i have no screenings for this
seeing it on tuesday so mad yeah i i think i don't know i don't know what how they're doing it but um
i'm going to see that on uh on tuesday i was supposed to see i play rocky on tuesday
But then the Clayface came in and they have another I play Rocky next week.
So I was like, okay.
I'm seeing that tonight.
I play Rocky.
I'm looking forward to.
There was another screening for it today as well.
I just couldn't do it.
There's another screening for it on Thursday during the live stream.
And luckily enough, there's one next week that I don't have anything.
So I can't miss that one.
I'm just so excited for that one.
Yeah.
I was talking to Jeremy Johns over the other day.
Yes.
And he was, and he's like, you know, I was thinking about you when I saw it.
I was like, and I looked and I looked at your channel to see if, if you had seen it.
Because I feel, I feel like, I feel wrong that I've seen that I've seen this already.
And you haven't even seen it.
I was like, no, I get it.
I was telling them the whole thing.
We were, we're just kind of shooting the shit.
That's awesome.
Oh, you know what I want to do before?
We're going to stick with box office, but I want to make sure that I get to this.
So discussing, I wanted to make sure that people know that if I don't know if you ever,
watched the
FCL when we were running the FCL.
Oh yes, yes. Let's talk about it.
Yes. So we had a former Star Wars
champion in the FCL and it's
Brennan Maher. And unfortunately
we lost Brennan over the
weekend. And I wanted to make sure
that he was
obviously a big supporter of this
modem but also really the competitor. People loved them.
People love talking to him.
He was just a big part of the community.
and yeah, I got the news over the weekend, PLD,
let me know in the community, as they do.
I'm going to rally it around and showed a lot of support and love.
So I just wanted to throw that out there to Brennan's family.
Yeah.
You know, Brennan and I had many conversations about movies.
He was a member of my Patreon.
He was also a member of the Cineophiles Patreon,
so he would come on and have conversations when we'd have get together sometimes as well.
I mean, and let's tell the truth.
about Brennan, this was a good guy
really suffering with some physical
maladies in his life, but also he
was an opinionated son of a bitch, and I
love that about him. Like he was,
whatever his issues were physical issues,
he was just like, this is my opinion,
like it or not, and I love that. Like, I
appreciated that. We could have
like honest back and forth about movies
and we didn't always agree, and so
I like that. He was just a regular
human being despite all the physical
maladies and a big personality, and he wanted
that belt. I know. He got it. He wanted that
Star Wars. You got it. Yeah, he got it. Yeah, exactly. Just wanted to, again, just make sure that we
shared our sentiments on Brennan and let everybody know about it. Absolutely. And as I always say,
it's not no easy way to transition back into the box office stuff, but it's just, we were
discussing that. I wanted to make sure that I didn't, that I gave Brennan his flowers, obviously,
and I wanted to do it to be in the show. But when it comes to the rest of this stuff that was
going on with the box office, you had, um,
the other mommy, which, like we said, you know, it's going to, it's not going to be a loss.
It's not going to be a huge moneymaker, but it's not going to be a loss.
Whalefall is the one for me because I didn't go to cinema con and that's what everybody was talking about, right?
Everybody was talking because I think what they did at cinema con smartly, what they did to get everybody excited,
is they showed the, the Austin Abrams getting eaten by the whale.
And yeah, yeah, they showed that.
And I mean, that's great.
Awesome.
And that scene is amazing.
it's just the problem with those movies is if you want those movies to succeed in the way that
it was shot in my opinion look it got a it got a better score than i thought right um but because
they said critics dug it was pretty high up there but yet it didn't do well the problem that
i had with it is that there's only the stuff in the ocean is great and that works but when they're
cutting back and forth to this story with the father and the son it just i just never got there and it's and it's
kind of the whole point of the movie.
Okay. Is this relationship that he's got with Josh Brolin.
And I love Josh Brolin. I'm a big Josh rolling.
But he was, this just wasn't the role that it, the dad almost seemed like, it's like a farce or something.
It was like it just, he didn't seem like a real person. And it wasn't, and it wasn't
Josh Brolin's performance. It was just like, I think it was the way he was directed in this particular thing.
It just didn't connect me. And I was waiting. I'm like, okay, wrap the storyline up,
just get back to the whale. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
And so I don't know if the audience really cared enough.
And the other thing is, Austin Abram is great.
He's great.
He's great in the movie.
And I said this in my review.
And I said this in my out of the theater.
It says a lot about him that studios said, you know what?
We're going to do the same thing we did with Tom Hanks, but with you in Castaway.
We're going to do the same thing that we did with Ryan Gosling for Project Hail Mary, but with you.
Yeah.
That shows confidence in his skills.
skills. The only problem is, and it's not the only problem, but the problem is he's not those two guys
in regards to star power yet. And that is if you haven't seen weapons, if you haven't seen
Resident Evil, you might not know who the hell he is. And so when I heard Austin Abrams was
going to be in it, I'm like, awesome. I love that dude. Love them in weapons. Love them in this. I love
them in uh in resident evil this is going to be great and he was great but if you don't have you've never
seen those movies which not everybody has yeah they're like their hits and Oscar winning
performances at a weapons but it's not like one of those there are tons of people who haven't seen
you in one of those movies yes he's not there yet so maybe like I don't know who that is I'm not
going to see some guy I don't know get eaten by a whale yeah yeah that probably was an issue I mean
I never get reached out by studios to attend
like influencer events and 20th Century Fox reached out to me
and tried to get me to come up to watch this thing
because it seems that usually says to me like
their tracking is showing that people aren't showing
a strong interest in the movie and so that to me is interesting to see
so it's sad to see because I mean I'm hearing that from other critics too
as more people see it Christian just like you were saying that the father stuff
doesn't work and if that's really your foundational piece of this
story, then that is an issue because the whale in essence is representing him being swallowed up
by his father, the loss of his father, the grief of his father. How does he climb out of that
embrace his own life? So there is a symbolism to it, but like you've got to make that work
strongly enough for the symbolism to work. So yeah, we'll see when I see it, if I agree,
but I've heard that from a few critics as well, which is disappointing. Well, I think that
you're going to, the reason why I think you're going to feel that way, and it may
won't, but I think the way you might because, especially, you know, with things that have
happened in your life. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can, like, you're someone that could really
get emotionally hooked by that angle. Yes. I don't know if they do a strong enough job to do that
even to you. And that's saying a lot. That would be a shame, because I'm pretty soft on that kind of,
I'm pretty lenient on that kind of stuff. So if they don't get me. So maybe, maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe I'm wrong. But it's, you know, it's the storyline itself, the storyline itself. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Could have
worked. It's the things that are said and the dialogue and the and the way that they were
kind of acted, or directed to act that maybe I was like, I don't know if that was the choice,
but we'll see.
Curious what people think. Put your thoughts in there about the box office. You're surprised.
Do you think Clayface? That's the other question. Is Clayface going to take the weekend?
I believe it will. I think it'll take number one. That doesn't necessarily mean, you know,
hey look we took the number one spot um what it's tracking at right now uh i know that they're kind of
back and forth yeah if it was good not good uh the the first initial screenings have have shown that
people think that it's pretty good but again who's who who is that i don't know yet um i think
the majority of the critic screenings happen tomorrow so we'll start to get those i think we'll start
to get the the word out there tomorrow about them about the movie so i'm
curious to see. I'm rooting for it. I wanted to work, man. I like, I really like the approach of what
DC's doing with the smaller movie. I mean, now I'm, I'm, I'm even more high on it because of
the carry thing that I've been watching. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. With Flanagan's original idea,
the idea that Matt Reeves was a producer on it, the idea that they're going this kind of lower budget
budget genre thing, which I think is, is smart and something I always wished bigger studios would try
to do. So I'm rooting for it to win. I just hope that there's an interest in it in the same way that
maybe there wasn't an interest for whale fall because they go,
who's that?
I don't know who that is.
And what's this?
It's a comic book movie.
I don't know.
I'm good.
Or maybe you don't like body,
body horror,
you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Good points.
What was the budget on the substance?
Ooh,
that's a good question.
Because here's the,
before you tell me,
okay.
When you look it up.
I will.
Because this movie is like a $40 million budget.
And it's got unknowns.
Right.
That movie.
had Dennis Quaid
Yes
And obviously the two big leads
Which was
Margaret Qualley
And Demi Moore
Right
So I'm gonna guess that that movie
Cost $23 million
$18
And this movie cost $40
Yeah
That's the problem
That's the problem
And that's why it's hard to compare it to substance
Even though in nature it is
Right.
Now, PILD, what did the substance do in its opening weekend?
Because I bet you opening weekend was something like $15 million.
And that's a good weekend for an $18 million budget.
Not a good weekend for $40 million.
Yeah.
Plus it's a D.C. movie.
So it should get more people into the theater than say an independent film like The Substance, right?
How to do it, Pildare?
Domestically, opening weekend is $3.2 million.
3.2. And what did it
overall? What did it do overall?
Because it came out limited, I think, right?
So what did it do overall? Because maybe it, maybe didn't make money.
Let's find out.
What's going to do overall? Because it got, it got Oscar buzz, obviously.
Overall, 77.3 million.
That's pretty good on 18, right?
That's worldwide. That's worldwide. That's still, but still 77 on 18.
Okay. So substance now, look, we might be having a different conversation.
They took the $40, $40 million risk.
And then like, holy shit, John, this thing actually overperformed.
And it did, you know, because if it opens up it, what's, what's it, if it's tracking at like 20, 25 right now.
Yeah.
And it's strong reviews and strong scores.
Then week two could be pretty solid for it.
And it could start to kind of almost like build out in the way that like Aquaman two built out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's got a good shot to be a success.
But you're not, you don't think so.
Or yeah, I just have a feeling people aren't this excited about this movie.
And it's, you know, it's like October.
People are looking for the Oscar films.
So I don't know.
Even during Halloween?
Do you even during Halloween?
Yeah, I don't know.
I just feel like there's not been much buzz.
They haven't done too many press screenings.
And so there just hasn't been that hype for this movie.
So.
And this idea that, well, it was only made for this much.
So it just like, this is still a DC movie.
And I think some people are being DC apologists when they're trying to play down,
Clayface, maybe not blowing the.
doors off the box office because i mean like couldn't we apply that logic to manorne and grogook couldn't
we apply that logic to these films that are like made for lesser budgets than the main big movies i mean
well mannolly and grogrew i don't know if that's a good example because that movie still
well hobbs and shaw how about hobson shaw was a spinoff right and it made a crap ton of money so
the you look at the situation or the drat or the scar the chance and drastic thing so where are we
going to go with clay face and to me i know not a people don't know the actor in clay face so maybe that's a
negative as well, but I just don't feel that energy of excitement that you would see on social
media or with your friends.
And people, again, critics haven't really seen it yet.
Yeah, exactly.
And the audience hasn't seen it yet.
So I'm waiting for that week because there is a shot that the audience just loses their
mind over it and says, this is a cool movie, man.
Everybody should be checking this out and has an opportunity to build.
That's what a smaller budget could potentially do for it.
So, again, rooting for it.
What do you guys make of it?
How do you think Clayface is going to do?
Put your thoughts in there. Let us know before we get to our next room, there's a new breaking
story that I'm going to bring up in just a second here. But before we do it, I got to tell you
about our good friends over at both, Rougiet and Warby Parker. There you go.
Thank you to Rougiette and Warby Parker.
Excited that they both keep coming back because you guys keep checking them out. And that's what
helps the show. So I appreciate that very much. So, all right, John Roker.
So people are asking us first because we hit that 220 goal and the character description.
What happened there?
Yeah.
What's that all about?
So the, anyway, the descriptions for the characters will be up momentarily.
Craig's work on it right now.
The sneakers, I think are going to be up there too.
So the people will be looking and saying, hey, we hit that 220 goal.
What's going on?
So once again, just to reiterate for people, before we get into this new story, which is a big story, by the way.
But before we do that, just a reminder that we have unlocked the $200,000,6,000.
person tournament that we did the 220 we unlocked that the character breakdowns 225 we're going to give
you that major casting announcement of what I talked about beforehand as well as my playlist that I'll
drop the Spotify one the one I listen to for my ideas for trending um at 250 the schmodeown live
the taping experience is going to be tickets that you could you potentially get if you want to see
the tournament you'll be able to you'll be able to see the entire tournament before anybody else in
person and there'll be an experience.
Those will get the exclusive
kind of limited tickets will go on
at 250. And then once we
get to 300, okay, that
will unlock the actual live event
that we're going to do where Mike Kalinowski will
play Smets for the
Inner Geekdom Championship. And then San
McLean will, I don't know, we haven't talked about this yet,
Roca. What's that? He is going to put
the belt on the line against the tournament winner
at the live event. Wait,
he still has the belt? Yeah.
He's got the belt. You don't get to keep
the belt in perpetuity? What is this nonsense?
Right. Right.
Be and get out of your high chair and get in the tournament with the rest of us,
you clown.
No.
Give a shit what show you're on, what movie you've done, get out of your high chair,
have Rachel help you down and get into the tournament.
You don't get to keep the belt in perpetuity.
Forget what nonsense is this?
Riley did it in the first tournament?
That's a different situation.
Oh, of course.
He's a venerated Hall of Fame,
I mean, Mark Riley.
But for God's sake.
this is nonsense.
You coddle these Hollywood stars too much, Christian, in our show.
I swear to God.
Someone say that I favor the outlaw.
You pay, they're crazy.
They're just jealous, you know, because I won and they didn't.
You know, this is nonsense.
Sam Levine, cut it out, take the bib off, get into the, put down the Gerber's baby food,
and get in the tournament, you clown.
Yeah.
Well, the outlaw is back, ladies of gentlemen.
Okay, huge story here.
Huge story.
What is the same.
Did you hear this story?
You know what I'm not to say?
This is major news.
Dan Lynn is out.
Oh, yes.
Yes, I didn't be this.
Yes.
I think the writing was on the wall for this.
I think that we knew this was coming.
Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
Yeah, with all the reports about the Greta Gerwig stuff and other things that he's just clashing with too many people.
There's only so long that when you are that guy, someone's going to take the fall when these budgets as they're getting as big.
I don't care how much money Netflix has.
when you're spending $270 million on a Narnia movie
when it's under your run,
you're going to have problems.
Yeah, I mean, so much, yeah.
Yeah, Dan Lynn has been dismissed as Netflix head of film
after almost three years.
Multiple sources say a variety,
even if expected, it's a significant shooter drop following
a layoff bloodbath last week at the streamer.
Hold on a second.
Hey, I'm on the air.
You want to talk in the air?
You want to call later.
Bye.
That's my, I always, what's so funny is, there's two people who call me on this show.
Yeah.
All of the time.
It's my actual wife and my fictional ex-wife.
They called me all of the time on the show, and I've told them repeatedly that we, that, you know, so that she's already fitting the role.
Back to Dean Lynn, everybody.
So even expected,
This is even shoot a job, yada, yada, yada.
Roughly 1,000 employees got the chop,
capped by the shock firing of chief content,
Bella Vajara, and Lynn was let go at the start of the weekend.
Two sources added and will address his teams throughout the day of Monday,
pretty much opening the door for at the end of Luke.
Oh, they didn't write that yet, but they will.
Am I wrong?
I mean, they're going to, they're going to be.
What there.
Yeah, Abdi and Dulw.
Yeah, there you go.
Here we go right here.
Yeah, Netflix.
Definitely.
Yeah. Netflix spokesman in no immediate comment. It's unclear who replaced them,
though an announcement is expected in the coming days. Duluca and Abbey, the former heads of the Warner Brothers
Motion Picture Group, have widely expected that he'd be speaking with the streamer about a possible world of company.
Netflix is embarking on a major creative restructuring after months of headlines citing engagement problems and stock stagnation,
all the aftermath of its defeating Bidport Warner Brothers. Namely, in hiring the season film and TV executive Peter Rice to replace Vajaria in the days leading up to his ouster,
Lynn watched as his layoffs claims his right hand, Doug Belgrade,
and the film's vertical indie head Sherim Kim.
Lynn had been part of the job turning heads in 2024.
I mean, he's been around for a long time.
He was there.
He was a Warner Bros.
when I was there.
But some of the stuff that he did at the end there, let's see.
Lynn said a green litter acquired 88 movies for Netflix at that point with the standouts being apex.
Here comes the flood.
Further misadventures of Cliff Booth and Greta Gerwig's Norni and the magician's nephew.
you as I mentioned with I mean as much as I'm looking forward to seeing Cliff Booth that's another movie that really inflated budget like we were comparing how much the Tarantino version I think the Tarantino movie was like 88 million and this seems like 160 it's like yeah and and is like an limited theatrical runner like in what world does that make sense yeah um so and you don't even have Tarantino back with it I mean I get it it's fincher but it's not it's
There's no guarantee.
Leo's not in it.
It's no guarantee.
You know,
so this made all the sense in the world,
especially with all the clashing and all that.
And they're retooling it.
And there is another reason why you look at the conversations that they've been having with,
like,
Grasnerney is like one of the longest running theatrical runs they're going to have.
Yeah.
Pola Nega as well,
45 days.
Right.
Right.
So they're going to start doing that more.
Yes.
And if they do that,
they're going to want to bring in people who are experiencing.
with that and they they have a major rivalry even though it's it it it is paramount versus
Netflix right now because yeah got Warner Brothers yeah and now so they're going to go okay
well you guys got rid of them we're going to pick them up right and we're going to show you
how stupid you were for letting them go and watch what happens what they do with us and then Dan
Lynn just gets booted at the rear end and at that way you know and he'll land so that's what
happens they'll land somewhere else.
Listen, you can only piss off so many filmmakers.
I mean, as you said, the David Fincher thing, the Grida-Gurrug thing,
and not just that Ben Affleck as well,
who had Bella Mahdi present animals at the screening of it
because he didn't want Dan Lin anywhere near there.
That was reported.
So, like, at some point, you have to realize
if you keep pissing off all these filmmakers,
I don't know how you thought you were going to keep your job.
And apparently the Narnia stuff, as Snyder reported in his newsletter,
there's a lot of drama behind the scenes because Dan Lynn noted that film
to death and eventually
Greta was like, I don't want him anywhere near me anymore.
And so that made that overthinking and all of that.
That being said, though, listen,
you're bringing in a guy who was kicked out by Disney
out of jealousy because Cheapek was threatened by Peter Rice.
And you're bringing in Abdeen DeLuca,
who had some pretty high-priced failures.
So this isn't like you're bringing in,
you're not bringing in the dream team, possibly.
These are both damaged people,
or all three of them were kind of damaged and,
in track record lately.
So are they going to be the magic sauce?
As Netflix, as you were saying,
moves, shifts towards more theatrical stuff.
Will it lead to actually profit?
Because right now, their numbers are down viewership.
So Netflix is in trouble.
Netflix is in some trouble.
No matter what Ted says in his speeches,
Netflix is in trouble.
And this move is, I think it's either go for Brooke or just start going down, man.
It's a rough situation right now for now.
Yeah, I mean, look, it.
Maybe so, but I think there's always with them, they still have, they're not, they're not like
danger of being sold or not, they're not in danger.
No, but they might be buying universal to try to help themselves get more IP as well.
That's exactly right. And that's probably what's going to wind up happening because they'll,
they'll be, they'll be all right. They just got to figure it out. And I think this is the kind of,
this is their way of figuring it out. Yeah. There's going to be more cuts though.
Totally kind of feeling. Yeah. They're, they're just, they're, they're basically doing the coyote
dynamite thing at this point. Yeah.
And it's like every, you know,
this is what happens
when it comes to this kind of big
big money, big things. As much
as these studio people,
they're living the high life, when they're living
the high life, they, it's a revolving door, dude.
It was a revolving door back in 2005.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's like people
were coming in and out of that place all the time,
robbing off the silverman and the
mess and then it's always shift. It's a, it's, it's, it's,
It's like politics.
It's like wrestling.
It's like,
well,
I'm going to go to WCW.
Well,
you outlast your time,
WUW,
I'm going to go to TNA.
Yeah.
It's that thing.
They always recycling.
The Hardys are still wrestling.
They're always recycling these things.
If you have some semblance of a name,
you'll always be able to find a job in the business.
That's how it is.
I agree.
So how that's going to play,
I don't know.
Yeah.
In the long run,
but it is,
it seems like it's,
the business has shifted so dramatic.
where it used to be Disney versus Warner Brothers versus Universal versus Fox.
Now it's Netflix versus Paramount.
Yeah.
Versus Disney.
Versus Apple.
Yeah,
but Apple.
Apple is just like,
hey,
hey,
you guys.
Oh,
the movie thing.
Yeah,
we do the movie thing.
We do the TV thing.
Yeah,
yeah,
we're going to spend somebody.
Oh,
yeah,
let us,
hold on,
let us just go roll around in our cash for a little bit and put out a
piece of technology that just dwarfed anything that you idiots just did.
They don't care.
Apple didn't care.
No,
You're right.
So I'm curious what everybody else thinks.
Let us know about...
But I do think the F1 is the thing that sparked this decision by Netflix.
I think they saw the streaming bubble had burst.
And they saw what F1 did for Apple.
And I think they real...
I think Ted finally realized,
hey, maybe we do need to start looking at theatrical.
I think the flirting with Warner Brothers,
buying Warner Brothers,
I think Ted was telling the truth that he wanted to explore theatrical.
And these moves that he's done,
over the last few weeks here with these changes,
I think show that Ted Serruth was legitimately wanting to make the ship
theatrical.
So Warner Brothers would have been in good hands with Ted.
And so this is now you're seeing clear.
So we'll see if this works out, though.
It's a hell of a gamble.
Well, we're going to find out.
Make sure you leave your thoughts and tell us what you think.
You can do that here.
You can do that on the live stream.
You can do that on the replay or you can do it on the Clips Channel.
That's where we have some stuff.
We got some from the Clips Channel.
Make sure you check us out over there.
I don't know if you saw this, but there's a picture of Sam getting ready for the smowdown if you want to share the picture.
I don't know.
You want to share that.
There is baby fenced.
There's Sam.
Get ready for the smodown, are you?
Oh, no, Rocha.
Getting ready for the smote on.
Are you Sammy?
You haven't even got past the first round yet.
You're ready.
You're really going after the champ.
He got past all the rounds.
What is this nonsense?
What is this nonsense?
He's, well, he, I mean, the champion never had to wait for the, it's essentially an ultimate schmodown.
The league has been retired.
And if it's getting reborn, we're all equal.
again. We're all zero and zero for God's sakes. Fair enough. That'll be, I mean, I already know the angle.
I already know the angle from your first interview with the hat on. I can already see it.
I already can see it. Where are you at, Sam Levine? And if Sam's going to be there, I'm going to
already see it. I can already see it. I'm going to look under tables.
It's really, it's already. The two of you guys is going to be going after.
Okay, look, I remember you and I talking about this story and me and Mike talking about this story,
Yeah.
This is a, oh, really?
Looks like Tycho, Artiti's Star Wars movie is that.
Yes.
Like, I mean, between that and I remember, I remember clearly many times and peers of ours when we would talk about like the Ryan Johnson one.
I would say Ryan Johnson Star Wars trilogy is not happening.
And then people would make videos and go, no, see, those people say they're not happening.
It's happening.
It's like, it isn't.
in the same way that this Tyco one isn't.
And now clearly, it's not.
Things have shifted dramatically.
And I've been, you know, I've been,
I've been tough on Faloni.
I think this is a green checkmark on Falunian.
I'll talk about that in a second.
Otiti's Star Wars film has been put on ice.
It's been six years since Tycho Otiti was linked to a Star Wars film.
According to the director, it's going to be a very, very long time before we see it,
if we even do.
he was originally slated to helm a film which christie wilson carrens was set to write and then later screenwriter tony macnamara came on board still it never seemed to go anywhere until we got an update back in january as kathleen kennedy exited lucas film at the time it was said a script had been completed that was hilarious and great hilarious
was what he's saying as sund dances here he hoped to harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films but since then there's been little movement and what titi had multiple
projects and development. Any one of those could move forward. Speaking with Inverse during
promotion for his upcoming film, Clara and the Sun, I'm supposed to see that today. Can't see it.
Wattidi said his proposed Star Wars film is being very, being locked away in cold storage. I hate to break
this to you, but we are going to actually, we are actually going to be put on ice and we're
working on different things together. It's very iced. He put it on ice. Sorry, I've got about
four other movies that I'm trying to do. Asked what the different project he mentioned is. He asked his
publicist, if he could say anymore. It was told.
that you have to ask, the answer is no.
Well, there's your answer.
I don't even know how to dress it up or make it even big.
That said, he's not willing to say that he shut the door in the film rather just leaving it open to a crack.
I say just do come to an end.
Who knows?
Upcoming works on his slate include a Charlie and a Chocolate Factory movie.
Is that a sequel or another one?
I don't know.
Oh, no.
Another one.
Charlie and Chocolate Fx.
We've got the Chalameh ones right now.
Why don't you know one of those?
Yeah.
And that one did well.
The In-Call.
And then Born 8.
after a dream run of acclaim for his work,
Martiti's film directorial efforts have stumbled with Thorlove and Thunder.
Stumbled,
I hate that movie,
but I don't know if stumbled is the right word because it almost made a billion dollars.
And that's my least favorite Marvel movie.
My least,
yes.
But Stumbled is hard to say,
because you can still say I made $800 million on it,
or whatever you made.
So that's hard,
that's hard to put in there.
And Next Goal wins,
that's fair,
receiving mixed reviews.
Clarison,
which was paying in this recent film,
premier opens on October 23.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's start with the Flonny aspect of this.
Okay. Do you want to know why I think this is a win for him?
For Poloni? Sure. Go ahead.
He clearly has a vision. Now, I don't know if the vision's going to be a win.
I don't know if the vision's going to be good.
Sure. But he has a vision. He's,
yep. I would have liked to see them go back in time and do the mangled stuff,
but that was a Kennedy thing. It's been put on ice.
What, Tango Tia, I never thought, if they were going to be.
going to do hilarious uh-oh i mean he's he did great stuff with the mandolian there's no doubt about it
yeah something he directed and other things but hilarious star wars movie is not what they need right now
it's been put on ice there was a kathleen kennedy thing polony said no thank you that's not where
we're going right now so feloni's making moves he's he has an idea he's got a vision of what
he wants to do and where he wants to take it again i don't know if those moves are going to be right
they they could very well be um terrible yeah but he's he starfighter
is the last thing that Kennedy put into motion that is not his.
And I think that, you know, there's, there's rumors that he was, it wasn't necessarily that he was like,
no, no, I don't want to do this. He just, I think he brought it up and in, sir, and I don't know
if this is a direction. We want to go on yada, yada, but that was kind of, I think, overruled
because Kennedy was still in, uh, in play at the time, right? Yep. Yep. Because one of the reasons
he probably said that too when you go, when you go into it is that he will be judged off
of Starfighter, even though it's not his.
Because he's the guy in power.
He will be judged off the Kinberg stuff.
And that seems to be where the direction is headed.
So he's putting things into play right now.
And the one thing I've always wanted to see Lucasfilm have
that it seems like right now they have is a plan.
I don't know if it's the right plan.
But there's a plan in place.
And so as hard as I've been on the guy,
it seems like he's making decisions that he's not just saying,
well, Tyca, people like Tyca, because that's what Kathleen Kennedy did.
She's like, oh, he's a big hot director.
Everybody loves Tyca.
Get him.
We'll do a movie with him now.
They love them and Maidling.
Let's do a movie.
Lord and Miller, they're great.
Let's do a movie.
Oh, I don't like they're gone.
We'll take this person.
They're hot.
This person, they're hot.
It's like, he's not doing that.
I respect it.
And then they got for the, for the first movie, I mean, even John Watts doing the first
movie, John Watts is not like just, he didn't just come off of Spider-Man.
He's been dormant for a little bit, right?
And they liked working with them on skeleton.
Yeah.
And so he's going to say, look, we need someone to bring the first movie of this trilogy together.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
How do you feel about this movie?
I feel like Faloni, this is all coming out only because Tyca did a red carpet.
But the thing is, I think Faloni made all of these moves right after he took over.
I think he made it very clear to who was going to keep going with their projects and who wasn't.
and that he was going to be walking his own path.
For better or worse.
And I think this is what you've got.
It's a very clear version.
We may not like it in the end, Christian, as we said.
I mean, even a few days ago,
Daisy Ridley completely wiped her Instagram of everything but one video.
Her IG still look and go look it up.
No photos, nothing.
All the Star Wars stuff gone.
Only just one video from a magpie film that you did.
And so I think things are starting to come into motion and line up.
And you're right.
He's got a vision of what he's doing.
here. The Taika thing was never going
to work right now. I mean, maybe they'll revisit
it down the road, but he has damaged goods
in a lot of ways. I think this Clara
and the Sun film is going to come out and shit the bed.
And it's a hell of a descent
from like Jojo Rabbit
and freaking Ragnarok
to where he is now.
Mexico wins was fun, but that was never going to
make a lot of money. And now
we're in the situation now. It feels very
much like M. Knight Shama. Where
there was all this hype for this guy, and now
he is kind of in that
place where he has to work his way back up, but I don't know if the projects are there.
And I don't know if his style of humor is there for theatrical stuff.
TV stuff.
He's great.
Mandalorian, our flag means death, these other things that he's done.
He's successful on that side of things on TV.
But film-wise, he's in some trouble.
So Filoni kind of moving away from that, I think, is smart.
And bringing in much more solid guys who much more current track records, I think it's a
smart move overall.
It was kind of my point with the John Watts, when people, when they announced,
John Wads and people for some reason turned against John Wats, whatever is.
I think that what John Wats is going to be able to do is deliver what they want in regards
to the plan.
And that's what Star Wars needs right now, right?
Because I always use this as an example.
And I thought it was one of the reasons that that phase of Marvel started to have a problem
is that what was so great about Marvel.
And I've now I've used this example many times over, but it's just going to further the point,
is that Marvel had the genres, right?
When you went and saw Silk War, it was like,
or Winter Soldier, it's a spy thriller.
When you saw it, it was a crime comedy.
And then I remember what, and they,
they asked that question to Kevin Feigate, Love and Thunder.
And they said, well, what's, and they used all those examples and more,
then what's the genre of this one?
He goes, oh, this is just a Tycom movie.
I said, I looked at Winston.
I went, uh-oh.
Right.
Because that's like, you can't, that that's not something.
in the same way that I think that
Multiverse of Madness was a Sam Ramey movie.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's like you've got to have,
in these types of movies,
if you're going to start to have a narrative,
you definitely don't want them to just be the corporate movie.
You want them to have the director's voices,
and you want to have the director's feel,
but you don't want it to be the director's movie
and the director's movie alone,
because, you know, you bring David Fincher,
it's going to be a David Fincher movie.
Right.
You bring in John Watts,
he's going to put his John,
want style on it, but he's going to give you episode 10.
This is why I'm really curious how this Soderberg, Matt Reeves, situation is going to
work, Christian.
Because listen, I get it.
He's friends with him.
He really respects him and all that kind of shit.
But you're still a director.
And your instincts to do something are different than every other director, right?
A Soderberg film is not like a Matt Reeves film.
You can maybe argue traffic has some elements of that kind of energy of Batman.
You could say that.
But like, I think this is going to be fascinating to see how these six weeks or more
of principal photography goes because you're right.
When a director takes over something, they have a unique and distinctive voice.
So I wonder how this situation is going to work.
I think this is dramatically different, though.
I think this is just saying we'll see how it plays out.
I know.
I think because, I mean, Matt's going to be at home getting dailies.
What if Matt goes, I don't like the daily?
You've got to reshoot this.
You got to reshoot that.
I think this is going to be interesting.
I think for this situation, that's what Soderberg is here to do.
I don't think he's here to do the, well, you know, yeah, I'll direct it and I'll do my thing.
And then let me know if you guys are cool with it.
He's, he's there to direct and make it look like Matt Reeves directed it.
And that's, I think that's what he's there to do.
And I don't realize that.
And I don't, and he'll have certain ideas.
And I think that what he'll collaborate and I think he's going to be one of these things where he's like, hey, Steve, I was saying maybe we, or, hey, Matt, I think maybe we, I was thinking about trying this way.
thing and Matt goes, no, that doesn't work for my vision. I think he's in some, okay, this is your
move. Because I think they made it very clear. I just feel like that's why you bring him in there
because there are, I think, a lot of directors. Yeah. That would run into the problem you're talking
about of like, hey, hey, hey, why are you bringing me in here in the first place? I'm going to do my own
thing here. And then Matt gives me notes. It's fine. I don't think Soderberg is that guy.
I think Soderberg is there just to help his friend. Yeah. I think in the, I think in the best case
scenario, that's what happens, right? But when you're doing six weeks, that's almost a third of the
movie to make it look like a Matt Reeves movie. When you're not Matt Reeves, that is going to be
interesting. I mean, I look at AI, right? Spielberg essentially directed a Kubrick movie.
Yeah, we talked to. But it does not look like a, it doesn't feel like a Kubrick movie
when you watch it. So I'm going to be interested to see if you're going to be able to tell,
you know, what is the Sonderberg scenes and what are the Matt Reeves scenes.
The major difference there, too, because I used that example the other day, too.
The major difference is that Kubrick was already gone at that point, right?
So Spielberg didn't have anybody kind of saying, hey.
Right, he started from the beginning on the movie.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so Matt Reeves is going to be on the phone going, hey, listen, I need this, I need that.
Right.
We want to try to do this.
Let's work together.
He'll probably be there while he's directing shots on video, whatever.
Maybe with the technology that we have, the technology was dramatically different during AI, ironically enough, than.
yeah what what it is today so i that particular thing i don't know but when it comes to this stuff
when it comes to the star war side of things you know yeah yeah you want to make sure that
when kimpers writing this trilogy and i think this is a major problem what the the the sequel
trilogy had and we've talked about it inaudium is that it doesn't it didn't have a plan and it
didn't well we'll figure it out we'll do the first one and we know we have some characters
we'll figure out the second one they'll figure out the third one right ready ridden
where this thing goes from this trilogy and they have an idea now whether watts does all three
or just does one to whatever it might be they have to now stay in sync with what kinberg wrote
yeah that to me is a plan i thought that they always needed to do with a trilogy in general and
the story's got to be good the story's not good it's a moot point who gives you shit who's direct
right right so i don't think john watts would have signed on to it if you felt i agree the story was good
right because I like what he did with
Skeleton crew I like what he did with the Spider-Man movies
all these people Johnny come lately is having a show
The old man, the old man is
We didn't bring that up last time and I was mad at this
We both loved the first season of all over and I was
And people who were saying that he's safe
Go watch season one of the old man
Yeah exactly
I think he's got the chop so I think if he's read
Kinnberg script I think he sees potential
And the signed on yeah
Yeah
Okay anyway
I'm curious what people think about this
put your thoughts in there let us know
we're gonna get to some questions now
we're gonna see what we can do here
see if John can make a little bit of comeback
here and take some 19 come on people
and we're starting now we're starting now we're starting now
but well let's see what you got going
on the channel before you any of that John's going
come on over there at youtube.com slash John Roker says
the John Roker channel
still going strong everybody come and join us over there

quest episode as well.
And then of course the hot mic with Jeff and I
think we're back on Thursdays this week at
4 PMPD. I have not heard different
from Jeff, but that's our situation.
A lot of stuff coming here on
the channel. Head on over there. And don't forget about the
Cinefiles. My podcast I do with Steve Morris.
We just dropped our second episode
on Beetlejuice. And today we're recording
part one of Marvel Civil
war with geek buddy shannon mclan is our guest so a lot happening in my world come and subscribe to all
of it please thank you christian um all right no problem make sure you check out john you know i just found out
the both the sneakers and the character descriptions are up on the campaign now oh nice so we can
give a quick little uh overview there if you guys want to check this out here it is again remember the
the goals uh and here it is so let's say first things first okay so
There you go.
Got those sneakers.
As we said, you can get those add-ons.
There's only five available.
So if you want them, you got to get them before they go.
And here is the, here's trending.
This is the character breakdowns right now.
You got Danny, Kelly, Ron, Lindsay, Jules, Milo, Mia, Vince, David, Renee,
Zara Glows, and the intern.
Those are all the characters.
people will be casting for. So as you guys see those breakdowns and you're looking at them,
I'd love to get ideas and thoughts of who you're thinking. And then as you're also looking at this
and seeing, who do you think we already cast? That's a question for everybody. So that's up there now.
We unlocked that at 220, as I said. So make sure you go and you, you check it on. I'd like to get some
suggestions. That's the other thing we'll do. That's what we always do is we'll light up some
some comments,
non-super chats, and if you have
ideas for when you're looking at those character
breakdowns of cast that you say,
oh, you know who would be good in that is that person,
or that person, or that person. That's now
what we can do now. That was what we have
unlocked. So remember, other things that we
can unlock, as I mentioned before.
Enrique,
Inorito, once upon a Hollywood,
once upon a Hollywood releasing
an IMAX again, Cliff Booth
is among us. No better time to show Sam
Hollywood on the channel. She loves Leo and Brad. I'm going to
definitely show her that. I just, it's just a matter of when. Um, yeah, it's just, you know, we're doing,
right now we're doing X-Men movies. I had some stupid audio thing happen on my X-Men 2000.
It doesn't look we're going to be able to do an unedited for that one, unfortunately, um,
for the patrons. The editors will work on it for the other stuff. But, um, sometimes for some
reason, every once in a while, I have OBS, it picks up the audio of the movie. And, and for some
reason, it did it this time. And I can't, it gets blocked when you try to do it.
so they have to edit around.
It's a pain in the ass.
So I'll make sure.
But first class comes out tomorrow.
Friday is X-Men 2000.
Then we're doing, we're actually recording X2 today.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
Armada, A-YT.
Have you seen the teaser for the greatest Ali show?
No, is there a show?
Is it an Ali show?
Yeah, it's from Michael B. Jordan.
It looks real good.
I mean, if you've seen everything about Ali,
you might find yourself being like, well,
but the energy is.
very creed like and so that's exciting to see and the guy they got to play ali looks incredible
send that to me i got to see that yeah yeah yeah okay enrique into whose last four films were better
spielberg which is what's what's d disclosure day disclosure day
you know what a d and i am west side story you got a lot on your mind i know ready ready player
one fableman's or scraisezi flower moon irishman silence wolf wall this is an easy one for me
yeah kind of easy this is easy for me to me to me
to me, it's Scorsese hands down.
I agree.
Yeah, I mean, you didn't like Flower Moon.
I really enjoyed it.
But Irishman, another one, I really enjoyed minus a couple things.
Yeah, minus.
There's a couple of things that I think could be fixed or maybe not happen at all.
But silence is a great underrated film.
Yep.
And Wolf of Wall Street is on my favorite movies a whole time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I agree.
This is a wipeout completely.
Right.
And that being said, I enjoyed Disclosure Day more than most.
Yes.
Westside story I loved.
Me too.
Ready Player 1 I liked more than most.
And Fabelmans, I thought was really good.
It's just when you put them against those other four,
there's, yeah, there's no one.
There's no contest.
I couldn't finish Fablewoods.
That wasn't for me.
You can probably put the X men to,
how can,
oh, just on patron.
People, PLD was thinking that we could potentially put it up on patron,
but the members would probably get pissed off.
So we're just going to have a loss on that one.
And because I don't, I don't want to,
I don't, if the, if members can't get it and,
and if the patrons couldn't get it,
I want to make sure that it's equal.
So we just,
we gotta take the loss on that one.
Christian Unpronounceable,
will Martini be in her car again?
I don't think she'll be in her car
for the first part of it.
If she comes back in for the second part,
she might be,
but the first part she should be okay.
Nathan Drake,
my guess is Rappaport on the show.
I can confirm and say it is not Michael Rappable.
Oh, I guess she's probably,
you're probably saying because of our history
on the,
on Collider Life.
It's a good guess,
but not Michael Rappable.
Tim Sim.
Hey, all, so critically,
which was the better movie, Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat 2?
It felt to me that Street Fighter was more financially successful one.
My Mortal Kombat 2 is a more slightly critically acclaimed one.
I think that Mortal Kombat 2
knew the exact tone that it wanted to be
and nailed the tone throughout it
and actually focused in on the tournament
with the side story involved in it.
I thought Mortal Kombat 2 was a dramatically better movie, in my opinion.
Okay. I have to go the other way.
I think Street Fighter was better because I enjoyed it more.
And I thought the actors were stronger in Street Fighter than they are in World War Combat, too.
That might be true. That might be true. Yeah. I didn't have a problem with the performances overall.
It was the same thing, like how they were directed.
Right. I just wasn't on board. And then, and I don't think that, what's his name? Noah Centenio.
Yeah, Centennial, yeah. I think he's a good actor. I just think I hated what they did with him in the beginning.
Like, yeah, it's never really liked him. Never really liked him. And by the time.
Too much Andrew Schultz, too. Too much.
so funny. I'm the one. And Eric Andre.
Eric Andre, to me, was too much.
Schultz to me, and I said it,
and nobody agrees with me. I thought he was the only person
that actually knew the tone of the movie.
He's the only one that knew the tone.
Tim Sim. Also,
contolences to my friends and family of Brennan Marr passed away recently,
who was an amazing member of the Shemnon community,
amazing Star Wars knowledge, who could have challenged the best
Star Wars players. Yeah, he was, I mean, he was,
yeah, he made a name for himself in that FCL. That's what I loved about the
FCL. It did. It really shined the light on a lot of people who just knew
do their stuff and
knew the spirit of the Shmodown.
Yeah, I agree. I mean, they overcame
some terrible question writers in the
FCL, but they still stood out.
They stood out these competitors
and God love them, you know.
Pildee, were you, were you,
were you, were, and you were one of the
writers over there, too? You had a big part of there.
Yeah, I was in that right. Actually, PJ and I
ended up writing up both as Shmodown.
Well, PJ writes, great questions.
We both are on touchable.
So we both wrote them both.
Maybe.
Just like,
the upcoming.
He clearly was carrying you.
You're writing the,
I want no questions
from PLD in any of my match.
None.
Nope.
Sure.
Sure.
If his action army buddy
could write a letter requesting
certain people off his matches,
so cannot.
So could I.
All right.
Alan Smithy.
Brendan was the best,
a major part of this community.
He didn't let anything stop
on a real fighter,
miss him already.
Rest in peace.
I love the love coming in there.
Really great.
Good man.
Yeah.
Nathan Drake.
Friday the 13th,
4 is the best one.
A young Corey Philman
sure. That's the one I remember pretty well. And Chrisman Glover.
Good Kill's directed by Joseph Zito. Who did missing in action? Oh, yeah. That's great.
I mean, missed us. I mean, that's that that is that that's the move that those are the movies I remember.
Dude, the 80s. Yeah. These were the best dude.
Neo G. What's up? Boys Christian? I'm working on moving to another state with my girlfriend.
I hear you on the pizza. I don't know if I'm missing anything more than a New York slice on a nice day.
I just house three slices. Where'd you get it? Yeah, there's some good. I'm telling you I went to my that this place
dude that I go to, it's a problem because like it's really, really good. Um, and it's better for you
because of the bromate, no bromant, no bleach that thing. But like anytime I go to the damn
train station, I can't help myself. I have to, I have to go. Even when I'm trying to like eat
really well for the week, I can't help myself. It's so good. Um, yeah, it's a sauce. Oh,
you should have seen Pieldy and, and Ellis. I couldn't control himself. You showed me the video.
I know. Yeah. Sam, what's up? RIP to Brennan Moore. I hope he's wearing a Jedi robe as a
forest ghost in heaven. That's a sweet sentiment. I teared up hearing the news last week. He would
often call me his fate. That's really nice. That's nice. I'm really loving the love coming
here for Brennan. Well deserved. Ricardo Rodriguez, 10 Jules happy poop. I probably agree with that.
I hope so. Zeus Fleming completely agree with John on Clayface lacking any hype. Yeah.
It doesn't, I'm with you on that. It doesn't, it's not, no, everybody's not like losing their
minds for it. But no, I also say, let's let's see what happens after tomorrow night with the, with the
critics and build some more stuff. I don't know. Yeah. Um, Core Pipp of 5-2-1 says,
which one to see? Whalefall or Street Fighter? That's a, that's a tougher question because, um,
they're dramatically different movies. Yes, dramatically. And, you know,
whale fall, what I will say is if, like, John, if you enjoy street fighter, you're going to
walk out with a smile on your face. If you get, if you feel like the tone's working for you and it hits,
even if you enjoy whale fall. You.
walking out with a smile on your face.
It's just not that kind of movie.
So if you're looking forward to it and you know the tone and you're just looking to really
kind of goof around, Street Fighter, if you're looking for a movie with a really good performance
in it, that from an up-and-coming actor, I would say, well, Paul, so it spends what you're looking
for.
There you go.
Yeah.
Danny Two Carr.
Hey, guys, I haven't seen Street Fighter yet, but do you think Cody Rhodes has the range to tackle
more dramatic roles beyond action films?
Roman Raines feels rather one-dimensional like Paris.
I don't know.
I think that Cody's kind of,
it's hard to say
if he has arranged to do dramatic roles
because in comparison to what?
I mean, anything that I've seen him in,
it's been this a naked gun.
I haven't seen him try to really act in anything else.
So, I mean, I don't know if he can or can't.
There were rumors about him.
To be cable in the new X-Men iteration.
And I was like, come on, cut it out.
Especially after watching him,
in this movie. Look, I love Cody as a wrestler. He can act for a wrestler in the
WWE. But to, but he, even in this film, you can tell, they cut down his scenes. Like,
his storyline makes no sense. And they cut down his scenes to limit his screen time.
Did he have a couple of moments, sure, but nothing in that being street fighter is going to
make me think he should be doing more dramatic acting for sure. And you say Roman raised one
dimensional. The role wasn't written to be having, to be having multiple dimensions to it.
No, he's just saying, he didn't see the movie.
He didn't see the movie.
Oh, sorry, sorry.
He doesn't say Roman Raines in general.
My question is, as you're talking about that with scenes being cut.
Yeah.
It makes me think of the, and I know that Captain America, Brave New World, had so many different cuts and so many different changes.
So we don't know, but like the Seth Rollins question was, because Seth Rollins had like a big role in that.
And then he hasn't acted since.
Was he not good?
Or was it just, there was so many changes in general or both?
I think he was not good, but I think they were going to make the changes.
So I would say both, that he wasn't good and that they dramatically changed what that film was going to be.
I would have seen the OG version of that film.
Ronnie, what's it, Ronnie?
Hey.
Hey, fellas just want to say my 15-year-old son and his cousins had a great time of streetfighter.
I had fun watching them and have fun, great time.
I can see, I can absolutely see how teenagers would love this moment.
Yes.
A hundred percent.
Or mental teenagers like me.
Yeah, like you.
Also, wishing Jalen hurts a safe and speedy recovery.
Great.
I have a Giants fan.
Go Big Blue, but I do like Jaylen, sending him and his wife all love.
I know.
Not great.
He's out for the season.
Yep.
Not great.
Blood clots in his lungs.
Yeah.
Yeah, the Eagles are going to be, yeah.
I think they're going to trade half their team by the trade done.
I think Seaquin is, if I was the Rams, I would be trading whatever to get Seaquin on the team.
Joey Matt.
Christian, John, love monies because you guys.
Thank you so much.
Are either you going to check out the second season of Dexter Resurrection.
Brian Cox is the villain.
It sounds amazing.
I've heard, look, I loved the first four seasons of Dexter is one of my favorite.
Like, the first four seasons are amazing.
Fifth was, and then six.
And they ended it so crappy.
But then they brought back that one season.
And then I've watched a prequel.
And I haven't got into resurrection,
but I hear nothing but amazing things about it.
I hear that it's really, really solid.
And you bring in Brian Cox as the villain.
That does sound amazing.
I don't want to say definitively yes,
but I don't want to say definitively no.
What do you think?
I'm not a Michael C. Hall person.
So I've never, I tried watching Dexter Cesar one.
Yeah.
It's not for me.
I'm just not.
He's not an actor I enjoy.
So, yeah, it's all I can say.
But I love Cox.
Okay.
Brian Cox.
y'all give me pheloni too much credit i don't think i've even really given that much credit kathleen
in her exit interview earlier said that the starfighter on kenberg's project are the only two moving
forward correct however she was the one who shepherded in starfighter and then she was gone
she's not making the decisions to bring in the director she's not making the decision to continue
it on who's directing next she's not making the decisions to that being the only thing anymore
and bringing in new talent so he look alexander i don't know if there's been a
harsher critic on Faloney than me lately.
But this is one of those things
that he seems to be shaping up and moving things.
So I don't give a shit what she said.
She's saying, sure.
Kathleen Kennedy said in her year,
the Starfighter project, we knew that.
We said that before earlier.
And Kinberg's project, the only two moving forward.
Right.
So she moves it.
She gets that particular thing.
She says, okay, this is a done movie.
Everything we're doing with Starfighter,
Gosson's coming in.
She's shepherded that.
She put it together.
She'll get the winner of the loss, right?
Yeah, yeah.
But Filoni, even though Kinberg's
project was brought in by her,
he's got to shape it up and he's got to make everything happen
and he's also got to design things around it
or not things around. So I disagree
with you a billion percent, I think.
Yeah. Hey guys, I see you all in the chat going nuts about what I just
said. I like Cox. Guys, if you think that's funny to clip out,
you're essentially being homophobic. So fuck you.
Okay? If I did like Cox, it wouldn't be an issue.
Okay? It's not an issue to be gay. It's not an issue
to like that. I'm just saying I don't want people clipping it out
thinking it's something to ridicule me about
and essentially use homophobic terminology around it.
So guys, don't be asking for PLD to clip that shit out.
Cut it out.
Well, the PLD definitely don't do that.
Not on our show.
And PLD already, he was midway doing it probably.
All right, let's see.
So Arago, saw that they're releasing the Brad Pitt booth follow-up movie on IMAX before
it's Netflix release.
You guys are excited for that?
I am.
I mean, I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm really looking forward to it.
Yeah, I hope it's good. And I want to see the once in a while. I've seen that.
The city seat and IMAX would be fun.
Alexander Wilson, also, if Campy is right, then Flonny didn't want to make Starfighter.
That means the movie is going to be good because I just don't like anything Ploney has done.
It's writing has no stake or tension.
Well, you know, I don't think he's writing the new trilogy for sure.
It's just like I said, I want to see.
And as I mentioned before when we were talking about this, to go back on your earlier
question there, Alex. I just like the fact that he has a plan. I don't know if the plan's good or not.
I could be with you in a couple, in a year or two from now saying maybe he should have not cut those
movies because this plan stinks, but I would rather him have a plan. So I'm not, and I'm not
going to argue with you when you're talking about his writing. Because his storytelling,
I think, is really good. His dialogue is, yeah.
bad, real bad.
Yeah, but a live action, right?
Because I mean, I think that Darth Mall series was fantastic.
And he wrote a lot of die.
He should be running the animated thing still.
He is an animation genius.
100%.
He's an animation genius. And he's a really talented artist.
He should be running the animated thing and tell stories in that medium.
Right.
But, you know, we'll see how he does.
Maybe we're changing our tune.
Aragal, with Doomstay coming out, are there any previous Marvel
movies that you rewatch now that you feel differently about now.
Yeah, I think so.
Like, I definitely, well, I still feel the same about, well, I definitely feel the same
about the second Thor movie.
I, I, Dark World.
I always like that more than most people did.
And I still like it when I watch it.
I definitely like Guardians to more.
I thoroughly dislike Guardians too when I first saw it.
And I like it more and more every time that I see.
I still have certain issues with it, but I like it more and more.
when I see it.
And I think
Captain Marvel gets a little worse
when you see it. I didn't mind it the first time I saw.
It gets a little worse when you see it.
But those are the ones that I kind of,
that stand down immediately.
I think Civil War is the one that changes the most for me
every time I watch it.
In a good way or bad one?
In a good way.
Because it's like we're about to do it for the Cineophiles.
I watched it last night.
And I hadn't seen it a long time.
And I remember being very team Iron Man.
when I've watched it in the past, right?
But watching it this time,
I kind of am on both sides on this equation
because both of them are flawed.
Cap is biased because of his love for Bucky,
and Tony has PTSD from New York,
which we know carries all the way into endgame.
And so neither one of these guys
is a team you should be on
because they're both flawed
in trying to impose the Socovia Accordes
or fight the Socovia Accord.
So to me, I found myself like being in the middle
as an older person watching the movie now.
And so I thought that was fascinating.
That film is really, really good.
Yeah, it's good.
By the way, currently a 222-216 jumped up.
So we're getting close to that 225, not too far away.
So maybe we hit it today.
Maybe hit it tomorrow.
PLD projects, I went through the ad on page
and the same image is shown in the blue and yellow.
Red pairs and showed even when you add them.
People don't know what he's working on.
Alexander Wilson.
Also, I think the Kinberg,
movie is going to be a disaster because he hasn't done anything good since 2014. It's about
be 2027. I have no faith. Clearly. Clearly. I mean, you have less faith than I do.
I don't think that's fair with Kinberg when it comes to, again, storylines and stuff too.
And if he's being shepherded by everybody and people around him and he's working with a director
like John Wants and he's got other people too, that's, if he was directing it, I would be very nervous.
Right. I agree. I'd be very nervous. If Filoni was directing it,
I would be very nervous, right?
But he's not.
So I do have some faith.
I do.
Yeah, I mean, John, please.
He produced Deadpool, produced Logan.
He produced those Poirot films that have done well for Kenneth Brunha.
He produced Deadpool, too.
And yes, there are some bad ones on here.
New Mutants, Dark Phoenix, 355, The Running Man.
But I think it's a little bit of.
of a more stronger record when it comes to producing and writing a little bit than people might
think directing wise i agree with you christian you shouldn't be anywhere near uh a camera uh but that's why
you get john watson and don't discount that john watson is going to come in and make some changes
to the script as well he absolutely will to make it a much more fluid star wars film so i think
it's a good combo yeah uh alexander relson also i think i think i don't i'm sorry fuzzy
wobbles part too a little support let's save my penny so i'd hopefully double my pledge by friday thank you
so much. Again, we have just around, like that Thursday, we're going to have 10 hours where we're
going to be trying to get to that 300 goal and then Friday we'll close it out. And that's it.
We're going to knock it out. It's crazy. And then starting next Monday, now it's just the plans of
everything else. It's just the plans of trying to get this thing shot and casting and moving forward.
So it's going to be, yeah, it's pretty crazy that we're here already, you know?
Yeah, yeah. That's going to be exciting on Thursday for sure.
Scott Harwitz was great meeting you at the comedy show two weeks ago.
First day I could get into the chat.
Only two hours home to New Jersey.
Damn,
close roads in Manhattan.
I know,
well,
it was a pleasure to talk to you as well.
And both you guys and the fact that you came out from Jersey on that Thursday night,
meant a lot.
You know,
I know it was tougher on.
It's always tougher on a Thursday night,
but especially going from Jersey to the island.
So the fact that you guys were there and you got to see the show and you have to check it out,
I really appreciate that you did.
And I was,
I was happy with that show.
We did like 23 minutes.
And it was,
it was a good uh it was a good set i had i had fun so i'm glad scott it was a pleasure to meet both
you guys so thank you for being there you go nice enrique enrique too you're telling me lucas had a
trilogy he had no plan when he called vader doth as a first name he made luke and lay his siblings
after no he had no plan you got lucky i mean what is i don't know what i love henriki but what's
what's the point they're saying like oh you can always do it if you don't have a plan you got lucky
and also we're talking about 1980 so about 1970s 77 1980 and 1983 so where you have
the filmmaking and storytelling in film was dramatically different.
And the way that we got things and got information,
just dramatically different.
It's like,
would I much rather him had a full on plan back in the day?
Yeah.
And would he tell you he had a plan?
Yeah,
he did.
And he says that he had it all played out.
He didn't.
I'm with you on it.
Yeah.
But that's not the win there.
And again,
I'm like I love you.
But that's not the win there in that comment that you think you're getting there
because he didn't get a plan.
He didn't have a plan.
And he got lucky.
You can get it.
lucky without a plan. But neutral is you certainly didn't get lucky without a plan. And I wouldn't
risk going into a new one without a plan, especially. And guess what? The rest of the, and here's
another thing, by the way. These other people, they ain't Lucas. Yeah. Yeah, right. They're not
the creators of the thing. Right. Exactly. And you're so right. Like, you can't compare the
1970s at the beginning of Star Wars to what it is now in terms of the landscape and the context
and having that perspective of what you need to do at this time. So yeah.
No, no, no, no, no, no, you need a plan. It's very important to it.
100%. That's the thing is that when the creator is going up and making things and doing things.
And remember, he didn't even, he, if, if Lucas would have had it his way, Empire Strikes Back would have been dramatically different.
Oh, yeah.
I wasn't happy with it.
And there's one of the reasons why he wanted, he was going to have Spielberg come in to do Jedi because he didn't like what he had, because he had, he had, his mentor.
And he had him to do it.
And cursons was like, he asked me to direct this film.
Let me direct it.
Yeah, right.
Similar to what we were just talking about before.
And he's like, let me, let me do it.
And there were certain things that he didn't want to do.
But to Lucas's credit, he saw the changes that
the person who did in the audience responding to it.
And he let it fly, right?
Because the line wasn't, I love you, I know.
It was I love you too.
Yeah.
And they, and Christian's like, ah, he's a little stale.
And then Harrison's like, I got something.
And he did it.
And then there you go.
Okay.
Movie history.
Arago, with the end of the year coming,
where do you think Obsession falls into the award show categories?
It's got an outside shot.
I don't think it's going to happen,
but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
I would.
I don't think it's going to be nominated for anything.
The movies are coming fast and furious now at the end of the year
with all these things.
La Bolanegra, Elsinore,
all these big films are coming out
that are going to be critic darlings.
And so I think obsession is going to get lost in the churn.
sadly. As I'm going through these, remember, as we're going through these questions now,
currently 38, John, make a big comeback here.
One of the things that you, at PLD will star them, if you guys have gone through the character
descriptions and you start having ideas about people and things, this is what I want you guys
to get involved in now. And so that's the whole point of unlocking this.
If you're reading the character descriptions, you go, oh, what about so-and-so for this,
so-and-so for this? That's where we start to get a little bit more exciting here, too.
V-Rock 408-6. Do you guys think we get a sequel to Street Fighter?
I think you get a better shot of getting a sequel to Masters of the Universe.
I'm not even kidding.
Because Bezos loves Master's Universe and can poop out money.
I don't think that Paramount's going to take another shot at this unless it is going to give them some money.
Poops out our money.
Let's see.
Street Fighter was made for 82 and it's at 51.
Yeah, no, you're not seeing a sequel to this thing.
Because it is not going to be, it is not going to go gangbusters over the next.
So, yeah, no.
And we did that one.
Oh, no, we didn't do this one.
Whose last four films were better?
Nolan, Odyssey, Oppenheimer, Tenant, or Dunkirk, or Quentin Tarantino.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Hateful Eight, Jango, and Glorious Bastards.
That's tough.
That's a tough.
The last four?
I mean, Tenet is a real nerd, in my opinion, of that lineup.
I'm going to say Tarantino.
I'm going to see Tarantino because I, Tenet, you know, I watched your recent, look, I love Odyssey, I love Oppenheimer.
I love Dunker, but I love Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I really enjoy Hey, Flee, I love Django, and I love Inglorious Bastards.
But that's really not fair, though, because Nolan's last four movies were in the last, like, 10 years, right?
Tarantino's were, of course, like, 15.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I agree with you.
I think Oppenheimer is the greatest of all these movies.
in that section.
But I mean, Odyssey and Oppenheimer
are fantastic. I do not like Tenet.
I do not like Dunkirk.
I love Dunkirk. And although I have a once more time
and my issue is that ending, which is ridiculous.
But hateful, but it's such a good movie until the ending.
Yeah. The hateful eight is great. Jango is great and glorious is great.
That's a tough one. Tarantino though, yeah.
28 Vasco. Wait, aren't some birthdays coming up? Mine's next Monday.
When's your birthday?
Mine is about four days on the 23rd.
Yeah, yeah, this Friday.
Oh, yeah. Well, there you go.
Didn't you just happen?
First, yeah.
But you're not, you're not a Libra.
I'm on the cusp of Libra and Scorpio.
So I always say, I'm a passionate pursuit of balance.
You're, dude, you would about a Scorpio that gets.
I'm a, yeah, I'm a Scorpio, but I need balance.
Like a very big old balance.
Yeah, you guys, Michael, D.
These are my honorable mentions of 2026.
Moral Combat 2.
That's a good one.
I like the Iron Lung.
I didn't love it as much as it.
everyone else said it was fine i liked it didn't love it
didn't love it lee kronin's the mummy uh
oh you know iron lung wait iron lung is the is you know market player movie i like that's the

because i'm always looking for a new spot to try so thank you scott i just did a screenshot of that
I appreciate that.
Joey Peders.
Clayface barely had a presence
at New York Comic-Con.
That's true.
I walked around.
I didn't see anything because I'm not sure
what DC's doing with this movie.
It's out this week and the hype is a squeaky fart.
The question, though, is what is the marketing spent?
Maybe they knew, maybe they said to look,
it's not tracking that well.
Let's not put that much into it.
So I have as much of a loss.
Yeah.
You know?
Very possible.
Yeah.
So maybe maybe we don't lose that.
Maybe we don't lose as much.
money that way. I don't know.
Mike, we just two questions.
Well, Martini...
And she's a rest of them. Can you answer this one so long?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you.
Well, Martini do her amazing impression in our show, probably not for that one.
And what are you hoping to do after the pilot of success and you're ready writing more scripts?
Well, I mean, my deal is what I want to do is I literally just want to do this season,
this series for as many seasons I can do, between five to seven, and then I want to do
the podcast.
that's really that and that's really what i'd like to do that that's that's my those are my goals in
in in life real quick bring up michael d's super chat again and look at it really carefully
i know is that my head nope that's not what it is read it off it's really these are my honorable
mentions starting with moral combat mortal combat two iron long leek cron's the mummy evil dead
burn's scary movie disclosure to young washington shelter other mommy no other choice miles dyson
I'm so confused.
The first letter of every movie.
Miles Dyson.
That's really good.
That's almost too good.
That's really good.
Okay.
Okay, now I get it.
These clever little fart, Michael Day.
You know that.
Good job.
I like it.
I should do that with Sam.
It's really good.
Okay.
Aragow, 435, 12.
So, John, we just,
got by the way we just got so this is uh let's let's see if you can do it because or is it hold on
okay oh i heard you guys the michael dixon thing yeah yeah yeah yeah so he's my miles that was good
so i was dyson i was gonna say there's no world that you really think all those movies my mic mic mic
is usually on the same pace what hell he thought a lot of time for him to do that too uh okay
for street fighter do you think the character m bison was miscaste i i love david dal smalsh
but yes i think he was miscast in them oh hundred percent i said that in my out of theater
action like I love David as an actor he was horribly miscastle he's just some dweeb seeking power
bison needs to intimidate you need to believe you need to be scared of him yeah even julia
wasn't good in the role you need to have somebody with muscles and true intimidation to play m bison
and i yeah dismalchon was a bad choice uh mr i crap and shits are we in the upside down it's
mid october my browns are in first place north don't get too cocky yet too because i the same
giants are somehow still holding on but the so long uh
Michael McKenzie 476 have you guys checked out the latest GTA spot no I haven't but I I'm actually really excited to play the game and I haven't played many of these anyway I'm just I'm pumped to check it out yeah there's no disc for it right it's only it's only like from the store digital I think it's only I think you can only get it digitally I think so yeah mr. I crap and shits street fighter was okay at best but I did like the little homage to Raoul Julian for me it's Tuesday yeah that was nice yeah that was nice Mike what are your plans after the pilot hits and what are you hoping what you're hoping what you're
in the past that's the same question mike same same thing same answer yeah danny to car if not cody
do you guys see anyone else in pro wrestling who can match surpass what batista has been able to
accomplish dramatically that's tough because you've got to be able to see them in in a dramatic role right
because you know set ralins we don't never we never saw the game tape um Cody roads we still
haven't seen the game tape in the dramatic role.
Anyone out there?
That's, I don't.
I mean, Edd tried and it really didn't come over.
Yeah.
It's fine.
But yeah, no, I don't know if I see any.
I do think there's potential with Roman.
I actually do.
It just will depend on the role, you know,
because a lot of people didn't think he had what it took to be a superstar and he
became a superstar.
Yeah, it's true.
Casey G.
The Schultz now have an career in acting after Street Fighter.
I think he's going to be in more stuff, yeah.
Yeah, I don't disagree.
It's not that he was bad in the movie.
It's just there's too much of him in the movie.
And so, yeah, I don't think he was terrible in the film.
I'll say that.
PLD, no casting choices, no casting suggestions so far?
Wow, shocking.
The whole fucking reason we put this thing up today.
Blaine, Christian, you and Ming should do some horror reactions for October.
The menu, I've seen the menu, and creep would be great.
Also going to double my pledge on Thursday.
say thank you blaine i appreciate that thursday's going to be a big is going to be a big show
going to be the biggest moment of this entire campaign is thursday so uh thank you for that and i think
well me and i got to finish uh invincible first and then we're going to push to some other stuff
derrick putting in 30 thank you derrick uh throwing support for the legendary roc on this monday
who are you is that me and me and you i don't know maybe i don't know um but thank you derrick
Derek's the man.
Yeah.
One of the things that.
Well, because Derek has, Derek, Derek set a tier on the Kickstarter where I'm actually going to meet them now.
Oh, nice.
So I'm looking, I'm looking forward to that.
Um, you should try to come to set, Roke.
No?
I would if I was cast.
Uh, what do you mean?
Um, fair enough.
Um, S, L, L, 1, 2, 1,0.
Thoughts on, you can see everything getting pushed back to be the first nominated for best picture.
Hmm.
The film has a 99% on both rotten tomatoes and.
and a lot of people have pushed it. I don't know if you saw that because a lot of people are
starting to suggest this film for a best picture nomination going out of the documentary category
into the main category and I think you can make a case because of the twist that happens in the
movie halfway through so yeah no no I'm not going to tell you but like when you see it you're
going to be shocked and I think absolutely I think it has a real real shot to get nominated I got to
see that I'm going to go see it over it's out in the theater so I'm probably three hours so
book your time I'm probably
go out and see it. Joey Pedrus, what movie in 2026 do you think genuinely benefited from traditional
marketing channels? Just wondering how much impact marketing can help underperformers. Yeah,
that's a good question, right? That's like what, what movie that did well from traditional
marketing? Like, I'm trying to think, what are some of the big ones that, I mean,
traditional marketing I was going to say, because backrooms and, and obsession was really, I don't know
how much of that was traditional marketing as much it was social media stuff and other things too like
i don't know how much social i mean regular marketing really i mean it brings there's something it
it brings awareness to it right like if you put you put a picture on a bus stop enough you put a picture
uh on a thing people people see it and it it it stays in their brain and they go oh that movie
doesn't mean they necessarily want to see it but yeah they're aware of it right so yeah what movie
traditionally did well i you know joe i don't know if i have an answer for
for it. I don't really know. You'd have to really double up and look at those stats. I don't know. I'm not sure. You could argue the Odyssey, but the Odyssey was Nolan and so there wasn't that much work to do. So it's like what film came into our pop culture, Zykeyes, because of the marketing. I think Odyssey is a good example, though, for you. I think, I think, obviously with the way, yeah, the way that they did it because it, because to me, it, when it comes to the big budget ones is, I look at the people who don't pay attention to movies. And it, are,
Are they aware of it?
Right?
Like in the honesty,
those movies that was marketed well enough
that everybody was aware of it,
everybody, not just the circle that we talked to.
It was,
they were aware of it.
So,
Odyssey is a good one.
I'll throw another one in here,
Coyote versus Acme.
Right?
I mean,
it is officially surpassed Supergirl
at the global box office
becoming summer's highest grossing movie
produced by WB.
So I think traditional marketing channels
built up,
Cody versus Acme.
So, yeah.
Okay, that's a good one.
Yeah, that's a good example.
Okay, let's see.
Next one.
If you have anything prop-wise, it'll be Easter eggs from your real show.
Potentially.
Potentially.
Yeah.
Okay.
Mike, the one that you wrote there was, we've answered that one to the, about the hardest, right?
I mean, just the hardest thing in the pilot was, again, it was just a matter of communication and pushing things through.
Sam, regarding character breakdowns, Danny and Kelly are obviously leads, but who counts as a supporting role versus
there's a smaller part. Most of the characters have names except the intern. That's a good question.
So if I bring up this one here, and let's see where they,
give me a second, and I'll go down to, I would tell you, where the character is.
So you see him? Danny and Kelly are the two leads. I think Ron and Lindsay are even more
of the two leads than even Danny and Kelly at some points too. Ron and Lindsay are pretty big.
um jules has a pretty stellar part for sure jules and milo are are part of the are part of the
danny's team in the podcast mea is kelly's daughter which is a pretty um solid role as well
david is her best friend i mean he's good comic relieved vince is like the kind of the
i don't want to see it's like the it's like the it's it's a big role
but a small role. Does that make sense?
It's a big personality, but it's limited screen time.
Yeah, but it's like you could see someone really big playing him
and then him being having a lot more screen time in the series.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like he's like one, he's one you would like, hence there.
And I guess it starts to make more sense as far as what the stretch goals are, right?
Yeah.
Like if we had, if we had enough in the budget to say, hey, we're going to go make it
offer to so-and-so to play Vince who's got to come in and shoot one day it'll be worth it.
Yeah.
Renee, smaller part, Zarr glows, kind of like one or two scenes.
So that's kind of the, that's kind of the breakdown right there.
I think that makes sense.
You're in the lead though, right?
You and Martini or you guys, or Danny and Kelly?
Right, exactly.
Derek.
Oh, there you go.
Are we going to look at the dailies and everything like that?
If they're accessed, if they're on a certain tier?
If there are a certain tier, you can see Daly, you can be part of it.
Yeah, yeah.
There's one tier you can actually sit at Video Village with Freed.
Wow.
Yeah.
Wow.
DJ, I'm kind of mad I'm falling off to Jason Momoa trainer a little bit.
Blanca, Lobo, the brother movie, but he said these selections are wild.
Is this an issue with him or his agents?
He doesn't really seem to, you know, the thing is when you look at like, well, remember,
I think it's going to change when Dune 3 comes out.
Right.
Right.
I think you're going to see the thing that we like about.
Moor because he's great in that movie.
And the Surfer Bro thing, like even when he's doing it with Blankett, it's like,
he's, he's more than that.
He had the thing is like, oh, does he have any more than just doing that?
He does.
You've seen it.
And I want to see him do more than that.
I don't disagree with you, Derek.
I think that's all, because Blankin and Lobo, they're different, but kind of the same.
You know, like, how, how is he the same?
It's completely different.
Yes and no.
So I don't know.
Do you agree with that?
Yeah, I just don't think Momoa is a guy who's pursuing, like, he's just not a guy that
energy.
Like, I'm going to try to be a real actor and be imparting.
He's just having fun.
And he rolls through these things and TV shows and whatever.
Like, he's always had questionable choices.
But those have always led him to these bigger roles where he gets to stand out.
So this is not a very orchestrated, you know, streamlined process.
I think Jason goes, this will be fun.
I'll do it. And he doesn't have the ego
around it that maybe other actors
do. And I appreciate that about it. I mean, this guy
walks around butt naked sometimes
in videos hanging out
down with his people. So I love
that about Bobala. He's just an energy, man.
Michael McKenzie, do you guys have a favorite GTA
memory? Just when the first game
came out, people just couldn't believe that there
was a game that could even
get away with the stuff that it was getting away with.
I've never played
GTA. Anything.
ever. Are you going to play the new one?
Yes, I will play six.
But I have been a character in GTA.
Have you really? The last GTA,
yeah, I was cast through William Morris
because they're my voice of origins at the time.
I am at the bus stop
in one of those sequences
complaining about the bus stop.
That's the tracks.
That tracks.
Yeah, you can hear me.
Let's see.
Princess Positive. I would suggest
the actress that played Madison from She-Hulk
as the Lindsay Robinson.
So Lindsay
in my mind, again, things can change.
In my mind, she's ever going to mirror it, in my mind.
But, you know, things can change on that one, too.
But I always envisioned her when I was writing her.
Get Kiki. Kiki would be cool.
Armada, 8.YT.
Heart of the Beast reaction happening.
I think so, because I haven't seen it.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're going to like it.
Just like, what's the Jake Gyllenhaal one?
I told you that was really good.
And you really loved it.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I did love that movie.
Yeah, I really enjoyed that movie.
That was Guy Ritchie, right?
Yep, Guy Ritchie.
I really like that movie, yeah, for sure.
So I would, yeah, I would say that one,
I'm definitely going to do a reaction to that one for sure.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay, let's see.
Last one for, no, no, a couple more.
Saw Big Ball's costume of Spirit the other day.
Did she, Armada?
I'm sure you did.
Last, there is.
Um, what, what, Carla, Carla is Ella Moscaira.
Well, I think it would be funny to cast a Nepo Baby as the Nepo Baby character, just saying that on the nose could be.
I've actually have someone in mind. I don't know if we can get them, but I have someone in mind.
I would, I mean, like I said, this is another reason why you've got Wendy O'Brien.
Like when you're right going to be, I mean, she's going to go.
Great casting director. She's incredible. I have this idea, this, this, this, this, this, you know, so I can't wait.
Sam, are there any additional small parts
and not listening to character breakends?
Yeah, there's a couple.
There's a couple.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right, John, I'll do some more of those questions as they come in,
but right now that's everything on the super chat side of things.
So before I let you go, we're going to.
Yeah, guys, you can find me at the Roka says on all social media.
Please head on over and subscribe there on my Twitter and Instagram,
but also my YouTube channel at YouTube.com slash John Roka says.
So much going on there.
as I said, stuff coming out today and all the next few weeks,
or next week, next week, rather, with geek buddies, hot mic,
spill the tequila and all of that.
Come and join us.
Thanks, Christian, and keep donating, our show is trending.
Do it.
Do it.
Thank you, John.
Appreciate that.
We have jumped up a little bit more.
Excited about that currently right now.
So let everybody know, we are at 222-736, almost at 223, which is amazing.
So I don't know if any of those
I'm going to look and see
I'm going to look at the PILD.
Why don't you take a look and say?
I feel like somebody had maybe got in the sneakers.
I think that's kind of where we jumped up.
Double check and let's say if that's the case.
So we'll bring PLD in here as we are going to go through.
And like I said,
I'm going to keep people on.
And we will.
If you want to ask questions about the casting,
anything else too for a little bit.
I will.
Then I'm going to jump out.
I'm doing Camp issue a little later.
So I want to make sure that I get out of here in time.
me eat something. Sun Devil Roadrunner, the Washington Post says,
employee that was planting listening devices secretly was in touch with the Saudi
of Robert family. Now the family owns a half of massive America asset in Warner Brothers,
CNN, which is kind of nuts. And I wonder how they're going to do that, though,
with still, there's still kind of some kind of deal, right, with what they said they cannot do.
Now, how much that is actually chaperoned, we shall see.
Yeah, we got two. Somebody is about two, two of the sneakers are gone already.
Two of the sneakers are gone already.
Okay, so we only, so it's only two more pairs left.
Three more left.
There's three more pairs left.
Are there any more pairs of the, the trending sneakers?
I think there's one more pair of the trending sneakers.
Let's see.
I got to take a look.
All right.
So as we, I don't say them anymore, so it might be gone.
Okay.
All right.
Let's see.
So Danny, do I get residuals for using my name?
Is it, it's not your last name, is it?
It's your last name.
That'd be hilarious.
That would be funny.
Yeah.
See, now we're getting some people.
There we go.
In the character bias, I don't see anything
in a sports, not crazy, right at Lowe's Pizza.
You'll be the guy, you'll be the guys constantly,
you'll be tweeting at them, telling them what they're doing wrong
and what they should do better, and usually being right about it.
Okay, Natasha Leon or Leah Romini as Lindsay.
Same thing, like I said, both great casting choices,
but in my head, I just, I feel like there's a reason.
I feel like I want to,
Like, I have, I have certain ideas as far as, um, Lindsay's background, right?
Because me, Lindsay Robinson is just one of these kind of really powerful characters.
And I always envisioned her as a black woman, but, but, well, but, you know, you never know.
Yeah.
Yeah, actually, I actually see that too.
Actually, I kind of envisioned, you ever, she, did you watch shrinking at all?
Did you watch shrinking with?
Yeah.
The best friend, like the shrink there, that kind of.
Yeah, she's got that kind of energy.
Yeah, that's my guy.
I can see that.
Definitely.
that Jessica what's her
Jessica
right
shoot
she's she's
she's great
she's
I think that that
that role is too close to
that
that type of energy
for her
yeah
I can say that
that's fine
that's why I can't find
but that is a great
that's a great choice
Jessica Williams
that's what it is
Jessica Williams that's what it is
so yeah
and let's say
so I'll stick around
for another five minutes
people have questions
and other things too. But here's, here's comic reels. How will the live streams work with you being
productions or any way you will change the start times of the stream if you can't be there,
a switch to host rotation? Great question, question that we've gotten before. PLD is going to be here.
We'll help run this stuff to and we'll have the hosts kind of running things. And remember,
for the actual shoot itself, it will only be that that shoot will be about a week, right?
So I'll be out of commission for maybe a week, week and a half, depending on. And there might be times
I have to go out, whether it's rehearsals or anything else, too.
And we've done it many times, without I was vacation or anything,
where the host can take over.
So I'm not worried about that.
The bigger question is if we are able and we get,
we get to a place where we can shoot the season.
And then it'll be one of these things that I'll probably have to have a place
that I can shoot when I'm in L.A.
Nice problem to have.
It's great.
Great problem.
Yeah, 100%.
This is great.
Can you get done most in trending to reprise this role, Ralph,
Sure. I'll give them a shout.
Anyway, is there any, is there any more?
Let's say, I will most like to have thoughts.
I just might think on more. I might need to share on Discord instead of here.
You can also share it more because look, as we're getting closer and closer to, you know, we're not too far away.
We're four days away and we're at 22, 736.
I feel like we're going to be, my prediction is it will be closer to the 260 range by the time we get to Thursday.
That's that I'm I'm I'm manifesting that I'm manifesting that we're going to be close to like the 260 range
leading into it and then we'd have to just make that step that heavy push to try to get to 300 on that day
Yeah, um okay let's say there any more Mike says we skipped a question about how you came up with a name for the pilot
Oh let's say I think you skipped my oh how did you come up with the name for the pilot
Originally it was called excommunication and that was changed after
after a lot of discussion.
And then trending kind of came about.
And it was like in one of our group meetings.
As we were trying to come up with a bunch of different titles.
And it just made sense for where what happens to Danny, what happens to Kelly,
what happens to the podcast general, what's happening with their careers.
And what's happening with the overall just social media aspect of it.
And trending was thrown out there and it just made sense.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Okay.
Let's see.
Is that it?
All right.
I guess that's it.
Well, we have a lot.
We only have a couple more days to go, guys.
And our show is indeed trending.
We're getting closer and closer to making this thing happen.
And we're already shooting it.
And then the other thing, as I mentioned,
I'm pretty comfortable saying that I think we have a place to shoot the tournament.
I just have to find the semantics and just certain things about it, but I'm pretty confident
and just a matter of like...
Just the one we talked about?
Yeah.
And just a matter of just how that all works and then how it actually...
Because I think it's going to...
That place will actually open it up for...
There might be actually a chance for not only...
Obviously, if when we get to that tier, that audience members will be able to get the exclusive
tickets, but then I think that we might actually even send...
be able to ticket it for sure,
considering where it is.
Yeah, yeah.
So it's a good possibility.
Absolutely.
Yeah, okay, let's see.
Comic Reels, did you have to go through a copyright trademark?
Of course.
Yeah, of course.
Mike, did you have to get coverage for the music for the pilot?
Well, we haven't shot the pilot yet.
So that's, well, that's a great question though, Mike,
because I'll tell you, that's the thing that people want to, like right now,
right now for the budget that we have,
it's going to be very hard to get all the music.
that I want because it's going to be the I know how it's going to get it's going to be like we need to
spend money on the DP we need to spend money on cast we need to spend money on locations we need to
spend money on this and then like well what about this song either do it on a cover or change the
song is with the notes I'm going to get I already know that yeah but if we build up and get
keep going then those things will start to um we'll start to happen so yeah this hasn't happened
yet. Right. Any update on going, so yeah. So they actually there was a chance for me to go on because he's not he's not hosting right since JC and Mark and there's a chance for me. I think I was supposed to go on like soon. The problem is I'm going to be in the city and they shoot I think like eight o'clock at night on on on West Coast time. So I don't I won't be anywhere near a microphone at that time. So it might be hard for me to do at the time. But I'm trying to I'm trying to figure it out.
I'm trying to figure it out.
I'm working with them in general to make it work.
And I think the other thing is,
so our executive producer and Derek Pan is working on that for me
amongst other things.
Derek has such energy.
No, he does.
For sure.
We have another executive producer that I can't wait to introduce everybody to
too, just hasn't happened yet.
But when it does, I'm excited.
This guy was giving me great ideas too.
already yeah um all right let's see do my bad i thought it she was italian in my head erika alexander
erika alexander let me see erika i'm living single yeah because they just rebooted that she's i like her a lot
yeah i like her a lot i like her a lot yeah i like that a lot uh any up that we did that already
sorry yeah that's it's it's a it's she played maxine show yeah i like her if money was no concern who
would you cast in your troll can't answer that yeah yeah why well because then i say hey you know i want
you know i have a mind it would be great to play this and then i can't get them and the person i do get
goes well you don't want me in the first place right not doing that nope no way that i just looked and i don't
see it so i don't know the same thing that derrick has posted yeah yeah yeah wait a minute
hold is he is he kidding oh we not that's not i'm kidding no
Yeah, I don't see that either.
I know Richard Rio passed.
Yeah, he said Joe Morton is past.
Joe Morton.
I don't see that.
Where do you see that, DJ?
I'm not seeing that.
You can send me the article because I'm not, let's see.
I'm looking to see.
Yeah, Derek, if you sent on the chat, like,
or just tell us where are your sources because I don't see it anywhere.
I was checking.
It says, no, it's his birthday today.
Maybe that's what I want.
Maybe he got conflated.
He got a Richard Real who's the guy from office space.
maybe maybe because we're maybe Derek wasn't watching the uh the reactions and not knowing that the
the thing that we've been talking about with joe joe jo's alive and well there um
pop's up like yahoo feed so let's see oh we're doing that oh no don't do that don't do that yeah don't do
that i'm not i don't care if you remember or not don't do that that's fucking stupid don't do that abernathy
fetal deedle covers for the whole contract yeah let's do it uh okay
Well, Rok can make a cameo untrending.
Look, my goal is that if we get the series going,
that everybody can do it for sure.
Casting, after seeing the casting list,
I have to bring up Angela Gerrard Hanta again.
She would be perfect for Jules.
Her Uncle Johnny Short shows her charm range.
Have another YouTube is also cool.
Let me see that.
Okay. People keep bringing her up.
So let's go.
We'll do that.
I'll put this over here.
I'm making a screenshot for casting choices that I like.
Okay.
Let's see.
We're going to keep going.
Keep going.
So, yeah, I don't think it's popped.
up in my Yahoo feed yeah i think i don't know let's let's say i'm betting yah who just got
confused his birthday maybe i think that's something yeah i'm not i'm not i'm not seeing that
i'm not seeing that at all actually let me let me let me double check and see that case
i'm checking news i got nothing yeah um no yeah i think he uh i think he got it confused everybody
So there you go.
Derek, it's not your fault.
You didn't do anything.
No, no, it's not his fault.
Don't.
He just had a super chat.
Yeah.
Okay.
I did just accidentally try to him alive.
I'm feeling about he.
No, no.
He's alive and Miles Dyson.
Miles Dyson is good to go.
Yeah.
Okay.
Perfect.
All right.
Thank you guys for being here today.
I really appreciate it.
As I mentioned beforehand, we are building.
we're building we're building we're building towards this thing and we're trying to make the
the show as we got right now we're at 222-736 we are not like look yes in the long and the first
thing you see is okay we still got around Pildy do the math on this right so we we initially when we
said when we started this campaign we said 13,000 people putting in 25 bucks and we make the board
walk pictures version of the show right so now we're no longer at 222 we need to
to get to the boardwalk pitchers.
Well, let's let's say, yeah, we still need about 118 to do to do the boardwalk
pitchers version of it.
But I would say just a hundred, let's let's say it's 100,000 right now.
25 donators.
Yeah.
I just did the whole bath.
20 would be 4,690.
So 4,690.
Yeah, 340.
At 25.
Yep.
So, and that and then we, and then we do it and we have all these different things.
And again, once I, once we're.
able to get to the show those those goals people have them see them one more time this is what we
have we have unlocked the 16 person full tournament when it looks like we have a location to shoot
those things just a couple things withstanding um 220 is a character breakdowns that has been
unlocked 225k which is not too far away we are going i mentioned that we have a major casting
announcement to make we will make that once we hit 225 as we
well as the trending playlist that I listen to that will be unlocked.
At 250, we are going to unlock the Schmodeown live taping experience.
What that means is when we do have our tournament, there will be exclusive tickets available
for people to get and come see the tournament for how many of our days it takes to shoot it.
And then at 300K, continuing on with Schmodown, the live event will be unlocked.
After the tournament itself, Sam Levine will defend the championship and the Inner Geek's
championship will be on the line.
And these are also available now,
although there are only three left
out of the exclusive five.
So lots of stuff going on right now, guys.
I also say, one or two people guess to Ed Harris
because I was excited about it.
It's not Ed Harris.
I wish it was, but not at Harris.
It's not. It's not.
So, all right.
Thank you guys.
Appreciate it.
Thanks for being here.
And we shall see you guys on the flip side.
We'll be back here tomorrow.
Bye.
my X-Men first class up tomorrow, by the way.
So make sure you check that up.
All right.
Thank you, everybody.
Bye.
All right, guys.
Take care.
Did you shit in there?
