Starting point is 00:02:59 smashing South Carolina, Don's Daily class act. they're accepting the loss in such a positive way afterwards. So yeah, sports-filled weekend, but also a lot going on in the world of entertainment. We had some Super Mario Brothers Galaxy stuff going crazy at the box office. We've got some series that are about to debut like Mall Shadow Lord. Those reactions have come out as well. So there's so much to get into it here on the channel or on the show, rather. And of course, would love for you all to send in your super chats today.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Send in your love, send in your questions, thoughts, and comments. I'm probably not going to get to 100, but I'd love for to get to 60 or 70. Let me know what you guys want to talk about. Let me know what's on your mind. Let me know what you guys want to hear about. Any Schmodeown questions, anything you guys want to talk about. I'm open to it all in the world of entertainment and in the world of Schmodeon in the past as well. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So let's get into things here. Let's bring up the first article and let's talk about it. And this just broke, I think, last night into this morning about Paramount's, Skydance and what's going on on their end. Let's take a look here. Let's see. Oh, yeah, Chris likes to put himself where at the bottom corner. There we go.
Starting point is 00:04:09 There I am. All right. So let's make this a little bit bigger so that we're, we can read along together. Let's see, here. There we go. There we go. All right. Paramount Skydance.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Well, first of all, it says Paramount Skydance secures $24 billion from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, as some of you might want to say it. funds for Warner Brothers deal. Here is the report. This from Todd Spangler over a variety. Paramount Scott Hans, led by David Ellison, has received commitments of nearly $24 billion to back its takeover of Warner Brothers' discovery
Starting point is 00:04:42 from three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds the Wall Street Journal has reported. Saudi Arabia's PIF, the Public Investment Fund, which a lot of you who watch sports, watch soccer, watch football, you know that they have been getting their hands on a lot of sports teams. over the last few years. They have agreed to provide about $10 billion to Paramount
Starting point is 00:05:04 with the state control funds of Qatar and Abu Dhabi providing the remainder of the $24 billion, the general reported citing anonymous sources. Reps for Paramount, did I immediately respond to a request for comment. Paramount's deal to acquire Warner Brothers Discovery, which has a $11 billion enterprise value, is pending regulatory approvals. The companies have said they expect the deal to close
Starting point is 00:05:26 by the end of the third quarter of 2026. last month, the acting head of the DOJ's antitrust division, Omed Omeid Assefi, I hope I said that right, Omead Osefi, said the Paramount WBD will, quote, absolutely not be on a fast track for approval due to political reasons. Now, you can believe that or not believe that, that the DOJ run by a certain somebody is going to somehow give the pretense of slowing this thing down.
Starting point is 00:05:54 We'll see. In the context of the Ellison's family's friendly ties to Trump, Sure, sure, sure. WBD has set April 23rd for a special shareholders meeting to vote on the Paramount Skydance transaction. Paramount's offer for WB as of December 1st include an aggregate of $24 billion from the Middle Eastern funds per SEC filing at the time. Since then, the company has not disclosed how much the three funds might be contributed toward its winning bid for Warner Brothers Discovery, which WBD's board of directors accepted in February after Netflix opted to not counter Paramount's $31 a share. their offer. Meanwhile, in December, Paramount said Chinese gaming and internet company, Tencent,
Starting point is 00:06:32 which had committed $1 billion to the Paramount Skydance bid was no longer a financing partner because of WBD's concerns over foreign ownership. However, Tencent was back on board as an investor in the deal with fresh funding Bloomberg news reported last month. In an earlier SEC filings, Paramount Skydance said the three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds have agreed to forego any governance rights, including board representation associated with their non-voting equity investments. that basically means they're claiming that the people involved with the Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds will not be on the board, will not be steering the ship. According to Paramount, that means the deal will, quote, not be within CFIUS's jurisdiction, referring to the U.S. Intra Agency Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, led by the Treasury Department, which refused foreign investments in American businesses for potential national security risks. two weeks ago, seven Democratic U.S. senators issued a call for the FCC to conduct a thorough review of the foreign investors backing Paramount's WBD proposed deal in a letter address to the agency chairman, Brendan Carr, who is, of course, not compromised at all, according to the WSJ story, because each of the Middle Eastern wealth funds will own, quote, far less than 25% of the combined company. Paramount execs don't expect the funds involvement to spark a review by the FCC. Separately earlier last month, Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren.
Starting point is 00:07:55 and Richard Blumenthal slammed the Trump administration's Treasury Department for failing to initiate a CFIUS National Security Review, a Paramount Skydance WBDL. David Ellison's father, Larry Ellison, committed up to $46.7 billion toward winning the WB deal. The participation of the three Middle Eastern funds will reduce the total amount of equity. Larry Ellison will need to contribute to the Warner Brothers acquisition. So there you go. That's the situation. you know, so this seems pretty shady.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Let's just say that right off the bat, right? I understand this is business. You've got to get your money. You've got to be able to invest in the company. You've got to be able to balance out the situation with money being invested. And I'm sure Larry Ellison was like, listen, I'll give you some money for this, son. But I better get some money on the back end here. I better make sure I'm protected on this situation.
Starting point is 00:08:49 So listen, this is way, way, way above all of our heads. None of us are billionaires who are watching the show. And if you are a billionaire watching the show, what the hell are you doing with your life? Go and do something else for God's sakes. Go and contribute in a positive way to the world. So this is a lot of money. And a lot of us can't conceive of what this amount of money means and what the requirements are. And then you throw in all the stuff with like their connections to the Trump administration,
Starting point is 00:09:17 their connections to an organization or administration, rather, that at times has looked corrupt on the outside looking in, has looked like they'll approve anything as long as they get their, wet their beak a little bit, get a little cut on the back end, get a little support in some way. And so all of it just feels really shady. Even the 10 cent stuff, the fact that they removed 10 cent because that was an issue that a lot of people have in
Starting point is 00:09:44 because that's a Chinese company. and of course the right hates China right now. And then Tencent came in on the back end after the thing was approved, after the acquisition was approved, to be part of it all over again. So all of this stuff feels very shady. And to me, you know they had these conversations on the down, though.
Starting point is 00:10:04 There's probably no paper trail, no email, no texts, no DMs about this, more of a personal 101, like what would we need to do to get the approval? How do we avoid the CFIUS looking at this stuff? stuff. How do we have, so they've done all these things to kind of stay just on the line outside of, of, of full on, sparking a bone deep investigation to make this all happen. But I mean, it's, it just feels uncomfortable all of this stuff. And it's not about the Middle Eastern investments. It's more a matter of the way they've gone about doing these things. That feels a little shit. The fact that they were like, well, we're not going to put any of them on the board. That doesn't mean they can't sit there. and influence people's opinions just because they're not sitting on the board or influence the direction or the content or the approach that they're going to take to some of the content that they're going to make. So to me, this all feels a little, you know, uncomfortable and billionaire shady.
Starting point is 00:11:01 And we won't even see the repercussions of all of this until years later, if this even goes through. Right. I know the DOJ and the Treasury Department and the FCC are saying they're going to like take a look at all this stuff. But you know that if Ellison is going to fund some of the, these campaigns or contribute money to Trump, but they're going to look the other way on all of this stuff and push it through. I don't buy the objectivity of anybody in this administration at this point. And I don't know how anybody can defend any objectivity of this administration. And it's not just because I have an issue with the way they've done stuff. There's multiple moments of evidence over the last
Starting point is 00:11:37 few months that have shown you that they're willing to look the other way if you contribute in some way. The ticket master or live nation situation is a real. big example of that recently. Remember, Live Nation was all, I think he was Live Nation or Ticketmaster was on the, was basically back on their heels about to get a big judgment awarded against them, but they contribute money to Trump's campaign. And then they go, oh, yeah, we're going to settle this thing for a million and we're out of here. And it's like, what the hell? So those, those kinds of things just kind of make you uncomfortable in so many, in so many ways. So yeah, but again, these are billionaires. You and I, we don't know what it's like to be up there in that, that level
Starting point is 00:12:15 of existence and messing around that kind of money. And they see us as ants on the ground, just little ants on the ground because they're making all this kind of money. So the backlash may come at how many artists are going to want to work with Paramount in this situation or Warner Brothers, how many artists are going to take a stand?
Starting point is 00:12:35 And how many artists are not take a stand and just essentially go and work with them because they want to make money and they want to pay their bills and they want to pay their mortgages and they want to help their kids get through college. And so there's a lot of this stuff that I think is you're going to see a lot of vocally. Oh, you're going to see a lot of people, actors, creatives who are vocally against this stuff,
Starting point is 00:12:58 swallow their pride, swallow their supposed principal stances and go work for Paramount and Warner Brothers. Trust me on that, you know, trust me on that. So, yeah. So it's a, it's a situation there where you wonder how much of their influence is going to influence what content gets created, what the approaches to that content, and who gets to make this kind of content. So we're going to see in the end where it all plays out. But yeah, I don't know. Some of you, let me know in the super chest. Like, let me know or in the chat as well, are some of you not affected by this or some of you think this is okay? And like honestly,
Starting point is 00:13:33 like to be honest, they have an honest conversation. Back up your points. Why are you not unsettled by this? Why are you okay with this? Why are you okay with foreign interests, possibly influence in an American company who is made? making American entertainment for the world. You know, like, are you not unsettled by this? Because I don't think I've heard any other organization, any other studio take money at this level from foreign interests to be able to function in that way.
Starting point is 00:14:03 So, you know, I just want to hear from some of you all, maybe some of you all who are big watchers of the industry and are analysts of the industry. Because I know a lot of you, just because you don't have YouTube shows or do this on the regular. a lot of you do read this stuff and get into this stuff. So I'll be curious to hear what some of you all think. Let me know.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Send in your super chats to let me know and we'll address it or send it in. I'd love to hear from you all for sure of all this kind of stuff. The Obama's literally make films for, yes, they do. Yes, they do. Yes, they do. Absolutely. No doubt they make films for Netflix. But can you say those films are, I mean, they're documentaries, right?
Starting point is 00:14:43 And there's not a lot of, like, pro-left. leading ultra-liberal progressive points of views that are in those films necessarily. I think those films are more about how we can do better in the world, fix the world, you know, positive stuff. So I don't know how you can necessarily make that overall. So, but okay, you know, but I'm open to it. Send in your stuff. Send in your stream.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Sorry, send in your super chats here as we go along. We'd love to get to at least 60 super chats before we end the show today as I'm sitting in from my brother, Christian Harlov here. All right, should we hit the, let's do one more story and then we'll get into, and then we'll play the ad, and then we'll get into more stuff here as we go along. So let's get into Mall Shadow Lord. Come on now. This is coming out tonight.
Starting point is 00:15:31 And already people are talking about this thing. Let me make it a little bit bigger again. As I said, I had mine as well. Let's go. I think that's good, right? All right, let me in the corner. All right. So Mall Shadow Lord.
Starting point is 00:15:47 here has sets of Star Wars Rotten Tomatoes record. This is Paul Tassi over there, great Paul Tassi over there at Forbes. There's a new Star Wars series on Disney Plus today. And while outside of Indoor, that may not exactly be caused for celebration as of late. This one is an exception. That would be Mall Shadow Lord, the new animated project, bringing back Sam Whitwer, friend of the show, to the role of Mall, who has previously played the part in the Clone Wars, of course, while his return is triumph. As Mall Shadow Lord currently has a 100% Ron Tomato score from over a dozen critics. As it stands, that makes it the highest scored Star Wars project of all time.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Yes, of all time. That may change when more reviews come in, but for now, here's the ranking order of the top projects. Mall Shadow Lord at 100%. Star Wars, Robles, 98%, and or 96%. That's a fucking crime. That should be 100%. A New Hope, 94%.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Empire starts back 90%. Okay, you can't compare any of these from the past. Force Awakens 93, Cloor's 93, Skeletor, 92, Last Jedi, 91, Mandalorian, 90%. So, The Last Jedi, 91%. Hmm. You know what, it may be time to revisit that movie.
Starting point is 00:17:04 You know, some of you know, I've been doing, I've been kind of opening the door to doing video essays on my channel. I did a Superman v. Batman revisit a couple weeks ago. I just recently did a couple of reviews, written reviews that I put out there on camera for, for Project Tell Mary and Super Mario Galaxy. I've been looking for the next kind of video I said I do.
Starting point is 00:17:24 And the last at Jedi might be one to kind of take a look at again because it's been a bit since I've seen that film. And now that it's been a few years, it might be due for a reassessment on the John Roker channel. We will see. But anyway, Maul Shadler, but it's only a dozen critics, 100%. Let me add, I will add my 100%. Because I think it was a damn good series.
Starting point is 00:17:43 I finished all eight episodes last night. I spent about four hours watching them last night. and they are definitely a bit i wish they'd released it as a binge because you could definitely binge this series because they're it just you're ready for the next episode as soon as the first episode ends and i think that's a good thing uh but i think paul says i'm sure that there are a number of ventures on the list that star was fans would split with critics over but a number of them are close to even a new hope being the now fifth rated best entry in the star was franchise is kind of funny i'll give and or being ahead of it now not sure about the others uh and i have trouble
Starting point is 00:18:13 uh believing that mall shuttle will be better that said it seems like it's pretty awesome here's the synopsis after the Clone Wars Mall plus he rebuilt his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the empire. Mall has a long history in Star Wars lore after being cut in half in a phantom menace and an injury, quote unquote, that he survived. That includes getting robot legs, normal
Starting point is 00:18:32 metal legs, then a final fight against Obi-Wan Kenobi where he's killed in an episode of Rebels, which is the greatest episode of rebels in my opinion. Two Sons is untouchable as an episode of Star Wars Rebels. This show obviously takes place before that during the in-between time we haven't seen yet.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Darth Mall ends up being a more complicated character than we ever saw in live action, obviously, though we did get one more glimpse of him during solo, which never really went anywhere. Here's what a few critics are saying about the series from Polygon, not only is Star Wars Mall Shadow Lord, a stunning and compelling homage to the pulpy, Neal noir genre set in a galaxy far, far away, but it also reaffirms what attracted fans to Darth Mall years ago, I agree.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Scream rant, without a doubt, the standard aspect of all shadow Lord is immediately presented from the very first frame, it's animation. Oh, yeah. original sin. Not only is this a well thought out and rich setting for Star Wars adventure, it also has threads of revenge, loyalty, revolution, and punchy comedic dialogue. It's a fan's delight. It is on Disney Plus now, so you can make a judgment for yourself. There is two episodes that air today and then batches of two will drop every week until the series hits 10 episodes on May 4. And they've certainly held out dropping the last two episodes.
Starting point is 00:19:46 for us here who have gotten the screeners ahead of time. I want to bring up another share, so I'm going to stay on this screen for now. I want to bring up my review of it that I just posted on Twitter here. Let me see. Can you go? Oh, yeah, I've got to make it bigger.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Zoom in. Here's what I say about it. Thanks to Disney and Lucas film, I was able to watch the first eight episodes of all Shadow Lord. And this is some of the best of Star Wars animation that I've seen since the last season of Clone Wars. It's true. The painted on animation is a standout here, and I love the look of this series.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Sam Whitworth takes Mall to places we haven't seen yet and delivers a fantastic VO performance here that might hit you all harder than you think. I'm telling you, there are moments in this series where Mall becomes even more three-dimensional than you might think, and there are things that happen in certain moments that echo his past that I think are going to surprise a lot of you all. Gideon Adlin and Dennis Haysbert works so well together with each getting multiple moments to stand out in their journey separately and together. Richard Ayurte is fun too, and Vanessa Marshall brings it, like always, as rootcast.
Starting point is 00:20:50 But a special shout-out to Christian Montopoulos as Varya, who provides some perfectly tied moments of humor that let a little steam out of the dramatic moments here so we can breathe for a second before it ramps the tension up again. Wagner-Mor at times feels a bit out of place, but overall, I guess the job's just the job done is Lawson. Some of the lines they ask him to deliver don't help him in this cause, though. The story itself, however, is damn good exploring what it's like to deal with an empire occupying force, watching your every move and how that can affect your family or your existence in this world, and the dangers of allowing your hatred of that authoritarian regime to turn you
Starting point is 00:21:24 into a version of it yourself as you rationalize crossing lines you'd never cross in any other situation. It also has some of the best lightsaber battles I've ever seen live action or animated. Oh, and there's a villain that comes in near the end that ups the stakes and the unsettling horrors of a regime like this. There's a lot to enjoy here despite some of the uneven stuff with the loss and family storyline. episodes four, seven, and eight, where my favorites, highly recommend the series four out of five stars. That's my thoughts on, on Mall.
Starting point is 00:21:52 I'll have a further review later on the channel today, but yeah, I mean, I was just blown away by how much I enjoyed this series. And listen, as you guys who watch the geek buddies know, I'm not always the person who runs to animation, runs to watch animation. It's not always my thing. So if a series grabs me from the beginning, I will rip through it. And that's what happened here. The first episode is good.
Starting point is 00:22:14 and then the second episode's good, third episode is good, but then the fourth episode is when it all comes together, like the first part of this series comes together in episode four, and you're like, oh, my God. And then five and six are great, and then seven and eight, five and six, where I do a nice job of like kind of setting some more of the table, and then seven and eight, boom,
Starting point is 00:22:32 it really kind of hammers home everything. And the lightsaber battles, the lightsaber battles. They are excellent. I mean, just blown away by these lightsaber battles. And each time there's one, there's like the next one comes in that ups it then the next one comes in that ups it. And I think a lot of you are really going to enjoy that as well.
Starting point is 00:22:51 I do think the issues lie with the loss in family stuff. I get why they did it, the teenage kid, the father. There's a separation here you find out and why there's a separation between the mother and the father. But they, I think they, unfortunately, that kind of got sacrificed for the other storylines, which is the mall stuff. And that makes sense because it's, you know, it's titled, and the stuff going on between Dennis Haysberts's Master Jedi and Gideon Adelon's Paduan Jedi
Starting point is 00:23:21 what they're going through and what they have to navigate. And then they're dealings with mall. Do they see Mall as an ally, or does one of them see Mall as an ally? One doesn't. What are the perils of that? So it's interesting how they explore that in the show. But yes, the loss and family storyline
Starting point is 00:23:39 is the uneven part of the show and some of the drama here. I didn't find myself that invested in that, which is unfortunate, but it doesn't affect the overall effect of the show, which I came away really enjoyed. So highly recommend it for you all. I think Hayesberg does a great job as well. I mean, like, he's initially not in that much,
Starting point is 00:24:02 and then he comes on as the series goes on, and you really get to savor his character even more. And I think Gidea Adlin does a really good job. I like her. She's Pamela Adlin's dollar. she's Odessa ASEON's sister. So a very talented family, that fam. And they do a good job.
Starting point is 00:24:19 And you might hear a member of that family in this series as well, which was a nice little surprise. But Deamontopoulos is Vario. I'm telling you, he is the hidden gem in the series. As this goes on, you guys will really kind of appreciate that, I think. He is just, he's so, he's such a great character actor. You've seen him in so many things. some of you watch Silicon Valley.
Starting point is 00:24:44 You remember him in Silicon Valley. When that Three Stoge's film came out, he was Mo in that Three Stoge's film with Saso and Will Hayes. And I've seen him pop up in so many things throughout the years. And he always delivers. He always delivers. And his voiceover work here is so needed
Starting point is 00:25:00 because the show is very tense. It is not for kids, little kids. It is definitely for young adults, teens, and above. Because there are some scenes that you're just like, holy shit. So D.M. Apopoulos, his Vario, is so essential for the humor, the light moments of humor that kind of help you go,
Starting point is 00:25:22 okay, and then boom, you're back in it again. It's almost, it's almost Jim Carrey like in the 94, 95 Jim Carrey, where he is like dropping little comments, just as scenes are ending or little comments, just as seen things are going on that make you laugh, even though you're seeing some hardcore shit going on on the screen. But the animation, the animation is, this is my kind. I love the painted on animation.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Such a great design and look of this thing. That really gives you that feeling of, like a punk feeling to it, like a punk rock kind of energy to it, which I kind of liked as well. And the way they do, the mall shadow lord title frame is, great because it comes on and you hear this smoke and then it scratches itself off the screen. So it gives that energy of this is a harder edge type of approach. So I have to give props to Dave Faloni who created this series. You know, my concerns have been with Faloni that he was going to be, you know, too young adult, the situations that happened with, um, with the acolyte,
Starting point is 00:26:33 the situations that happened with the first season of Asoka, no issues here. I mean, yes, some of the loss and stuff's uneven. But overall, I think these first episodes, eight episodes, really nail it. And I'm curious to see how these last two episodes will go when we get access to those as well. So we'll see. Of course, I'll be reviewing it solo later on today, although that was a bit of a mini review. And on the geek buddies and, of course, the Jedi Way this week with Kevin Smets and Frankie Janish. We'll definitely be talking about the first two episodes of that as well. All right, well, let me know, send in your super chest. let me know if any of you got a chance to watch it this morning or if you got

Starting point is 00:27:29 We will get into some other stuff going on here with Space Balls 2, with the power of the Lord of the Rings, some Writers Guild news as well. anything else that might have popped up. And if some of you are on Twitter right now or some of you're watching some of the social media channels, if any news has broken, let me know in the chat or send in the super chat so I can take a look at it as well. All right. We'll be right back right after this.
Starting point is 00:27:54 There you go. Rugeet.com slash Christian. Use that code, y'all. Listen, sometimes we need a little help in life in certain areas of life. And some of you might need to, you know, take a look at this thing and use Ruggiet. So why not get a little discount and why not help the show out, a show that you guys watch or listen to every day, by signing up there and using the code, using the code as well.
Starting point is 00:28:20 All right, so let's see. What else we want to move on to? Let's get into some box office stuff. Box office stuff with Super Mario Galaxy. Let's take a look at this thing. Let's bring it up here and put me down in the corner again and make this bigger again. I wish you could figure out how to make it full screen.
Starting point is 00:28:41 I don't know how to make it full screen. We'll see one day I will learn the tricks of it all. All right, Super Mario Galaxy movie has a $373 million global debut. Universal Nintendo and Illuminations animated. The Super Mario Galaxy movie has debut to record numbers, both domestically and around the world. Sunday morning estimates now have the film pegged at a domestic opening weekend Hall of $131 million for the three-day and $190 million for the five-day.
Starting point is 00:29:10 The five-day take is the fourth biggest five-day opening weekend ever. Overseas, it has earned almost as much again with the worldwide total expected to hit $372.5 million by the end of Sunday, just shy of the 387.8 million of the original over the same period in 2023. Oh, that's curious. That's curious. Hmm, okay. that's the biggest World War debut for an MPA movie since Avatar Fire and Ash. It's also the fifth biggest global opening ever for an animated film.
Starting point is 00:29:40 The fifth biggest global opening for a universal film of all time and the second highest global opening for illumination of all time behind only the first film. ComScore reports that almost two-thirds of the audience stateside were non-frequent moviegoers, a few times a year or less. The group who've mostly shrunk post-pandemic. So this being, this is being seen as a needed boost for cinemas. Yeah, that makes sense. Projects how Mayor came in and second
Starting point is 00:30:05 with the $30.6 million for the three-day period bringing its domestic total to $217 million. It's worldwide total to $420.7 million. Also opening this week was $8.24's The Drama. The Robert Pattinson and Zendaya led romantic drama which debuted to $14.4 million domestically in third place along with around $28 million worldwide. It's not bad for a small film like that.
Starting point is 00:30:28 The numbers are being seen as coming in above expectations are the third biggest global opening ever for an A24 film. Hoppers and reminders of him rounded out the top five or last weeks they will kill you dropped by 62% in its second weekend to 1.9 million. Essentially going the ready or not to route there overall. So, all right, let me, let's take a look,
Starting point is 00:30:50 as Christian likes to do. Let's take a look at this box office mojo situation. Let me share this next and see where we're at on this. Okay, here we go. So, yeah, I'm making sure we're okay, okay, we're on the same page here. So the bottom, okay, let's make it right here. All right. So you're looking at a Super Mario Galaxy 30.87 as the dailies there.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Project Home there. Oh, yeah, where's the, let's see. What do we got here? Let's just take a look at it. So, yeah, 372 million worldwide so far, which I didn't know it was $17 million less or $16 million less than the first installment. That tells me that the negative reviews have affected the film a little bit overall. It's still great numbers, great, you know, fifth, highest opening and all of that.
Starting point is 00:31:43 But the fact that it's not doing better than the first movie, I think, is a little bit of an indication of how some of these negative reviews. And some of the people who've come out of the film, even though the film has a high audience score, maybe people aren't going back or feeling they need to go back in the same number. So be curious to see where Super Mario Galaxy lands by the time it's done. will it beat what the first movie did? Project Tail Mary at 420. Pretty amazing. And I think, again, that was made for what? Like 200? Yeah, I want to look at this.
Starting point is 00:32:12 You know, when I'm by myself, ladies and gentlemen, I have to kind of look this stuff up myself. So I appreciate your patience on this. Project Tail Mary. I think it was 200, right? Oh, so that's the book. There it is. Yeah, $200 to $248 million.
Starting point is 00:32:31 and how much was the Super Mario Galaxy? Do we have a budget on that one? 110 million. So, yeah, I mean, they're playing with house money now. They're absolutely set up overall here. So you look at that. The drama doing $26 million, and the drama was made for $28 million. So it almost made its entire production budget back in one weekend.
Starting point is 00:32:57 For an A-24 film, that's pretty incredible when you're dealing with. double-digit million numbers, right? So that's pretty awesome to see for them as well. I haven't seen that one. I've heard interesting things about that one, and I might go see it tonight, depending on how I get stuff done here this afternoon at the house. Hoppers is at 514. So look, 514 million. And I think Hoppers was made for, what, like 80 to 100 million? Is that 120 million? I think it was. 150 million. So look, that's a profit. It has turned up, yes, it's not a billion dollars.
Starting point is 00:33:37 It's not $800 million. But considering how Pixar is right now and considering the environmental message of this movie, the fact that it's made $515 million, I think, is a good thing overall, especially on $150 million budget. So it is a hit. It's probably not the hits that, you know, you would see for Toy Story or something, but this is a new, in essence, a new IP within the Pixar umbrella with Hoppers. So 514, I'd be happy with that if I was them because it's still making money, which is good. A Great Awakening, I don't know what, that, only two million.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Oh, this is the one with the Ben Franklin and the Reverend. And you know what? I kind of have a slight interest in how they mess with history making this movie. I have a feeling they, you know, made some jumps in logic. made some things work, you know. And look, all movies, all historical movies have done that. They get away with that based on a true story stuff. But what else do we want to look at here? So anyway, this is pretty good for Super Mario Galaxy. I mean, making that kind of money, doing that well overall. I think that's a positive for it. And, you know, they came out and said
Starting point is 00:34:50 that they're not going to do a Super Mario Smash Brothers movie. But I don't think that makes any sense at all. I mean, the amount of money that it is made this weekend, the amount of money the previous one made, I am shocked that they would not consider doing a Super Mario Brothers, sorry, a Smash Bros. It just doesn't make sense. They have to do a Smash Brothers movie. But I'm curious to see where this goes.
Starting point is 00:35:17 I'm curious to see how the numbers hold up in the second weekend. Because, yes, gangbusters in the first weekend, made a crap done of money in the first weekend. But the fact that it came in below what it had it been before, I think is an interesting situation when you look at this. Like, why did it come in slightly below the first movie? Are the reviews affecting it or were people maybe not as positive about the first movie in the end? Or are there other things going on? Are people not going out to the movie?
Starting point is 00:35:50 But yeah, 372.5 million, just shy of the 387. 0.8 million of the original over the same period, like over the same time frame. So both the movies came out three years apart over the same time frame, five-day time frame. So 387 is what the first movie did. 372 is what the second movie did. Now, again, I don't think the studio is going to give that much of a shit
Starting point is 00:36:11 because it's made money already in its first weekend. So the question becomes like, will it hit what the Mario Brothers movie hit, which I think was of 1 billion six or 1 billion eight. What was the Super Mario Brothers movie? It was, oh, 1.3 billion. So, yeah, given the fact that it came in a little low
Starting point is 00:36:36 and we've got some big competition coming in the next few weeks, yeah, I feel like it might come in under that 1.3. I don't think this will be an Avatar, Fire, and Ash thing where it's very obvious how much that did not. perform compared to the other films. But what if you get? You haven't got much coming this week with Beast, Yumi and Tuscany,
Starting point is 00:37:00 the Riz Ahmed's Hamlet. The BTS World Tour might do something there. Lee Kronin's The Mummy. I'm not sure what the audience awareness of that movie is. Mother Mary, I don't think a lot of people going to see that. So yeah, maybe it's got to run until Michael.
Starting point is 00:37:19 So maybe you can make some money here until we get to Michael on April 24th, because that's what's really going to have competition overall here. So yeah, I mean, I think this could have an idea, because then we get Dead Wars Product 2, then Mortal Kombat 2, and the sheep detectives, which might, that would absolutely battle
Starting point is 00:37:42 a Super Mario Galaxy because of the audiences there, I think are kind of similar in that way. So yeah, I don't think Beast or these other films are going to challenge it this weekend or on the 17th. But when we get to the 24th of Michael, that's where you start to see some issues probably. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:38:00 so it's got two weeks of a run here where it can get to where it wants to get to. So we'll see if it doesn't. But do you guys buy this situation? Do you guys buy that we're not going to get a Smash Brothers movie? Because that's what the guy from Nintendo said, which kind of shocked me. Let me see if I can find this.
Starting point is 00:38:21 thing that he said if I could get through all the fucking ads. Let's see here. He said this, I think, a couple of days ago. First day box office. Maybe I need to go back even further. Here we go. All right. So let me share this real quick.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Oh, yeah. Let me take down all this other stuff. Again, guys, I'm kind of solo here. So I appreciate y'all's patience with me. me as I navigate this stuff. Yeah, here we go. For some of you may not have seen this. This is what was said here about the Smash Brothers.
Starting point is 00:39:07 And they said, where is it? Oh, here it is. Okay. The inclusion of Star Foxx, character Fox McLeod, voice by Glenn Powell and the just-release Super Mario Galaxy movie has that fan Salivang over the prospect of a potential Super Smash Brothers movie down the line.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Several characters from other Nintendo properties like Pickman also appear in the new film, which is only further fan the flames, at least until today, Mario creator Shigero Miyamoto, and Illumination CEO Chris Melendondondry have both thrown a bucket of cold water on such a prospect. The pair telling Polygon that the chances of a Super Smash by the style crossover movie are very low at the present time.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Miyamoto indicates that they're focusing on what's immediate and have no grand, quote, Avengers-style team-up plans. Rather, if there will be inclusions, it will be as supporting, characters are cameos. Quote, right off the bat, I'll say that unlike something like Super Smash Brothers, I don't think you'll have a situation where all Nintendo characters would be joining together in one film. But LaDondri added that with making these movies, the inclusions of non-Mario characters are purely incidental as opposed to something more strategic, such as building an interconnected fictional universe. Our process is actually very different from that. It's much
Starting point is 00:40:14 more geared toward conversations about what would be fun with a certain scene in the movie, so these ideas come up based on, oh, wouldn't it be fun if Pickman appeared here? Wouldn't that be fun if we agreed that it's a fun idea. Then we look to Miyamoto-san to just make his own judgment about whether or not it feels right to him. Miyamoto-sad, though, says he is open to more cameos and supporting roles like they're doing. He said, quote, we have
Starting point is 00:40:35 plenty of characters to create a movie, and yet we wanted to add a little bit of spice, a little bit of secret cameos here and there. And you'll see that there's one secret character that plays a big role, true. So I think there might be introductions of characters like this potentially in the future or something like that. So let me
Starting point is 00:40:51 put that through my Hollywood decoder ring and tell you exactly what they said. Basically, they've seen how Marvel is getting raked over the coals for a shared universe, how even DC and James Gunn saying, you know, no, you can watch this on its own. And then people got upset because it connected back up to Superman and that a peacemaker connects up to Man of Tomorrow. So I think there is a bit of a pushback on the idea of shared universes. now and that it's seen as quote unquote homework.
Starting point is 00:41:26 And I think the last thing they want to do with a brand that appeals to kids is to attach the word homework to it. So what they're essentially, I'm sure in any logical person would have plans laid out that if this works out and then if this works out, this is the next step we're going to take. I'm 100% sure that they have Avengers style plans for this Super Mario situation. but I think what they're saying publicly is the smart thing to say oh they're just coming in and having fun they're just coming in being cameos it's cool the way they're introduced and if it works for a scene
Starting point is 00:42:02 we've got these characters that we can plop in there and it's fun it's a great fan service for the audience but you'd be crazy to think that they don't want to do spin-offs of these characters in their respective movies and that eventually bring everyone together because if they do it right when a Smash Brothers movie happens, we're looking at $2 billion
Starting point is 00:42:24 because of all those characters coming in. So look, they're saying the right things right now that they need to say as heads of their respective companies because they don't want people to feel like they have to go see this stuff because they know how the audience is reacting to that kind of stuff nowadays. But as responsible, intelligent heads of their respective studios who see how much these movies make, it would be criminal for them not to,
Starting point is 00:42:54 I mean, creatively criminal, for them not to have already planned out where they want to go with this if these movies become successes. So that's when you see those comments, I feel like that's the Dakota, the Hollywood decodering version of those comments to tell you the real truth about what they think about the situation,
Starting point is 00:43:15 you know, because I think it would be ridiculous to not. And I don't know if there's like I don't know if there's proprietary rights I don't know if there's like with Marvel like with Hulk you can't do a standalone so I don't know if Nintendo just owns everything outright all their character have never licensed them to anyone or anything like that so
Starting point is 00:43:31 it would make zero sense that they wouldn't already be considering doing that. Luke comes in with a comment Luke said what did Luke say something when it comes to Super Smash is the creator of Super Smash Brothers is extremely protective of Super Smash Brothers so he might not let them make a movie.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Great point, Luke, and that's what I was getting to. Like the idea, I don't know if they have preparatory licensing deals or with other characters or, as you just pointed out, people who are involved with creating certain things who would be putting a pause on it or hesitate on it or not want to do it. That could be an issue as well. And maybe that's part of their comments here is they want to respect the fact that this person who created the Smash Brother stuff is not on board yet. and so they want to say all these things
Starting point is 00:44:18 and slowly convince him maybe behind the scenes to come aboard. Maybe the reaction to the Super Mario Galaxy movie from a lot of the fans who liked it and the box office will convince him to give it on the Smash Brothers thing and maybe he's holding out because the script isn't ready or the script hasn't been written
Starting point is 00:44:40 or the stuff hasn't been done so he's not going like, yeah, let's make a Smash Brothers movie. I'm very proprietary. Terry caring of this. Let me see what your script is. Let me see what your angle is. Let me see where you're going with this. So I think that's an element of this as well. DeShay says, Grace Randolph saw the entire season, the boys. She's given a review already. It's really good. Oh, okay. I haven't gotten to the boys yet. When does that drop? Is that drop tomorrow or Wednesday? I forget when that drops. But I'll definitely be watching those.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Kenyon says, Nintendo as a whole, is very guarded what they do with it. Yeah, exactly. They are very guarded for sure. So this would be under their umbrella. so they would be the ones who would be doing it. I don't think they'd be allowing other people to do stuff. So they'd be working with Illumination and they'd come together and be, okay, this is what we want to do. Elimination says, well, we'd love to do this, this, and this. And Nintendo say, well, this is what we're comfortable with.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Well, how can we meet in the middle and get as much of what we both want into the movie? And unfortunately, for me, the Super Mario Galaxy movie didn't 100% work. I love the first film. But one of the reasons it didn't work is because they were throwing so much at you that if you're not into the world of Super Mario, you're kind of on the outside looking in. And I think that's not what you want your audience who is not too familiar with
Starting point is 00:46:01 the Super Mario characters to feel, you know, that they're on the outside looking in. Because some of these characters popped up and I was like, I don't know who that is, you know, and so for me, because I didn't play Super Mario that much. But there's a lot of casuals. And the fact that a lot of the box office, as that write-up said, came from casuals. you want to keep them in the tent. So hopefully the next movie will be a little less fan servicey and a little more coherent, through line, coherent emotional storyline,
Starting point is 00:46:29 and not a bunch of storylines that they don't, that they do not, they don't do a good job of bringing into fruition by the end of the movie. It's miss me with all these people saying, oh, it's not Citizen Kane. Miss me with all those people who have, that, that narrative,
Starting point is 00:46:48 nothing to do with the conversation. That is a fabricated narrative out of thin air that is irrelevant to the actual dialogue and conversation about this movie. Because it has nothing to do with that kind of shit. It's about legitimately meeting the film at its terms with what it presents and the fact that it did not accomplish what it presented at the beginning. It did not accomplish that by the end in terms of the storylines. In terms of the facts, in terms of the fan service and all of that. I'm sure. It very much accomplished that. But there's, and, and they made Mario a little bit of a bystander in his own movie,
Starting point is 00:47:26 which was a bit weird. You don't want to make the titular character of your movie, the least important person in your movie, or the most boring person in your movie, and he kind of was. And that's not what I want to see from a Mario movie, in my opinion. Yeah, Luke makes another excellent point plus with The Legend of Zelda movie coming, the live action one, they are probably waiting to see how it performs as well as a live action movie. And it's being shot in the same area as Lord of the Rings, so there is a chance that movie's going to be something special. Yeah, for sure, Luke.
Starting point is 00:47:57 That's very, very possible as well. Yes, you can miss him with that. Absolutely, you can miss me. So there we go. All right. Let's see here. What else have we got to talk about? And let me know what you guys think about it.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Sandin your super, we have 18 super chats. Again, would love to get to 60, guys. Send in your love, sending your super chats, your questions, thoughts and comments. Whatever you want to talk about. It's all on the table here, on this show here. Christian, I have no restriction. Christian is, you know, he's not holding me back. There's no leash on this, man.
Starting point is 00:48:31 So please, whatever you guys want to talk about, would appreciate hearing from you all, sending your super chest, sending your love and support. All right, what of the story do we want to get to here? All the writers' guilt stuff. So this is important, I guess, for industry conversations for sure. But the Writers Guild has reached a deal here. The Writers Guild and studios reach a deal. Oh, my God, using that predator thing.
Starting point is 00:48:57 That is hilarious. People still try to tell me that's an A-List movie with a scene like that. Stop it. Don't expect another writer's strike anytime soon. The Writers Guild of America famously went out strike in 2023 for five months. We all remember that. with a three-year deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and television producers finally reached later that year. Now with that deal set to expire in just under a month, the Guild has reached a tentative agreement with the studios,
Starting point is 00:49:23 whom the A&PTP represent on Saturday. The new one set to run for a slightly longer four years. Details of the deal aren't forthcoming as of yet, but are expected to include a major cash infusion into the Guild's health fund. That's good to see. I like that idea. the union also sought improvements on 2023's gains such as AI stream residuals and TV staffing minimums. Global contracts in the industry has led to distinct lake of desire
Starting point is 00:49:48 for a strike this time around. Distinct lack of desire. Distinct lake of desire. You'll just read whatever's on the teleprompter. Ron will read whatever's on the telepromp. But the deal must still be improved by the WGA board and sent to members for ratification. The AMPTPP still must reach deals with SAG after
Starting point is 00:50:10 and the DGA, both of which see their, current deals expire on June 30th. Well, you know, DGA probably signed their deal in a heartbeat. They're not going to wait for SAG after just like the last strike. Those guys just think, those people just think for themselves, I think about themselves. So this is, I think this is good that this has been signed. I hope the deals are favorable. There's also a possible strike going on at WGA between them and their union. So there's issues there going on as well. So I think this is good. We've seen the strikes in the end, I think were necessary and important for everyone to stand on business and fight for what they needed in their
Starting point is 00:50:47 respective fields as creators. But we also have seen how the strikes have damaged the industry because the owners of these companies just went, well, we'll just do less, we'll pay you less, and we'll employ less of you. And we've seen that happen now. That has trickled down to affect so many creatives, especially the middle class creatives, the creatives that were able to make a living and pay rent and possibly buy a house in the California area. They have been squeezed by all of this going down where the A-listers have now moved down a little bit of a level to take the work away from some of the middle class actors and directors and producers and creators.
Starting point is 00:51:32 And so we've seen that cause issues there. So I'm glad the Writers Guild settled this situation here and we'll see what it leads to. maybe they have protected their people to ensure more work for their people. I hope they have. The healthcare thing I think is super important. So I'm glad they extended on that because it is a stressful job. You never know where your next paycheck is coming from. And no matter how secure you might feel,
Starting point is 00:51:57 maybe you've written a great TV show and you think it's amazing and nobody fucking watches it. And now you're back on the back on the line trying to get another series or trying to get work. So it's a tough life. for all the stuff that people make fun of, and I do too, about celebrities and people who are famous, once you get past that upper echelon, the one to two percent that really make a crap ton of money in this business as creatives,
Starting point is 00:52:22 the other names that are well-known names, that are names you know, do suffer financially at times, do, you know, are scratching out a living, are fighting and scratching and clawing to be able to exist in the world. So, you know, make fun of the top 1% if you want. But there's a lot of people below that 1%
Starting point is 00:52:42 who struggle to make a living in Hollywood even though you know their names. A lot of actors' names you know, and you've seen in multiple things, are living paycheck to paycheck sometimes or living month to month sometimes. And so, you know, it's true. So I hope these deals help to get more work
Starting point is 00:52:58 for these creatives and people in the industry. Because entertainment is essential to our life. Now more so than ever with all the math, all the madness that's going on in the world, being able to escape into some entertainment and some new entertainment, I think is more valuable than ever. More valuable than ever, you know?
Starting point is 00:53:17 So, yeah. All right, so let's see what else do we want to talk about? Bluble, bleeple, ble, ble, ble, what else is up there? The Riders Guild stuff we talk. Oh, yeah, here we go. Let's sit this stuff as well. All right, this is the Spaceball two situation, Lange, John.
Starting point is 00:53:34 We've got a Spaceball two, Spaceballs two situation. buckle this. Spaceball 2 goes to Ludacris Speed with official release date. Spaceball 2 is from Matt Thomas over there at Comic Movie. Spaceball 2 is moving at Ludicrispeed with Amazon MGM Studios announcing that the long-awaited sequel to Melbrook's 1987. Call Classic will hit theaters on April 23rd, 2027, perfectly timed for the original film's 40th anniversary.
Starting point is 00:54:00 So there you go, April 23rd. So next year, about 17 days from now next year. that's when it's coming out. Dihar fans might worry that the studio under Jeff Bezos' watch is simply mining nostalgia to boost box office numbers, but rest assured they're not just doing this for the money. They're doing it for a shitload of money. We've been combing the desert in hopes of finding any sort of clues or hints
Starting point is 00:54:21 about the plot for Spaceballs too, but we ain't found shit. Amazon MGM did, however, share a tongue-in-cheek synopsis, teasing, quote, the title is rumored to be the name of the movie and plot details are being described as information about what happens in the story. There you go. Earlier logline, play for you described it as a non-prequel, non-reboat sequel part two, well with reboot elements franchise expansion film.
Starting point is 00:54:43 In Space Bowl's 2 is expected to scurred to today's crowded sci-fi landscape, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien, and plenty more that have emerged. Mel Brooks leaned into the joke, yes, we know that crawl. Yeah, all right, so there you go. It's coming out April 23rd, 2027. Yeah, Spaceball sees Josh Gad, Kiki Palmer, Anthony Carrigan, Lewis Pullman coming in with a screenplay by Josh Gad,
Starting point is 00:55:11 Ben Jusameet, and Dan Hernandez. So we'll see. We'll see. We'll see how that all turns out. I hope it's good. I love the first baseball movie. Spaceball's movie. I think it's the last good gasp from Mel Brooks in terms of films.
Starting point is 00:55:26 I'm not a Robin Hood, Men in Tights film guy, or a Dracula dead and loving a guy. Spaceballs is great. But yeah. But Josh Gad being involved in this. I'm not a Josh Gad person. So hopefully it's good. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:55:46 What else have we got to talk? Oh, yeah. This is the power of rings a power situation. Christian Harloff doesn't do the Christian. Who said that? Kristen's in L.A., bro. He's in L.A. working on a project, and he'll be back on Wednesday, I think.
Starting point is 00:56:04 So they called down. Man's got to work. Man is doing a project. You know, he can't be here all the time. Don't you want him to be successful? Don't you want him to go the next level with stuff? Come on. The Lord of the Rings. The Rings of Power will reportedly get all five seasons despite low viewership. Hey, you know what? In a time, well, let's read this story. Hold on. The Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power, was originally built as Prime Video's Game of Thrones beater. But season one struggled to win over a longtime Middle Earth fans, that's for sure. I liked it, but it was uneven. never really found the same level of mainstream success after season one's budget reportedly
Starting point is 00:56:41 ballooned to as much as $465 million. Production moved from New Zealand to the UK for a second season that proved largely forgettable. I haven't even seen it, yeah. While season three finished shooting last December, many fans have wondered what the future holds in store for the Rings of Power and its supposed five-season plan. The Witcher has been cut short on Netflix and even the Harry Potter franchise scrap the Fantastic Beast movies when box office returns diminished.
Starting point is 00:57:05 So could the story of Sauron's quest to forge the one ring go unresolved of Amazon's high middle earth is no longer a worthwhile investment? Well, despite low viewership, a new report from the anchors of Leslie Goldberg via the SFF Gazette.com and confirms that Lord of the Rings, the Rings of Power will receive its five season run as planned on Prime Video. However, spinoffs will likely won't move forward due to the franchise's high costs. Prime Video and Amazon MGM are now under the leadership of Peter Friedlander, who is the head of global television Amazon MGM Studios. While he's looking to cut costs. It seems Amazon is contracted
Starting point is 00:57:37 for five seasons and 50 episodes after entering an agreement with the estate of jury or token. Harper Collins and New Line Cinema. Friedlander is said to have visited the set to show the credit team that they could finish the story as planned. Depending on how season three performs, it's not outside the room possibility
Starting point is 00:57:55 that the story be condensed before concluding with season four, which is expected to release two years after the third batch of episodes, which premieres later in 2026. Amazon's founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is thought to be a big supporter of the Rings of Power with one source saying that the series
Starting point is 00:58:09 remains under his quote, magical halo. It's previously been reported that Amazon would have to pay $20 million per season it doesn't produce. I mean, I would rather pay $20 million than pay how much I'm paying
Starting point is 00:58:21 to make a season if people aren't going to watch it. So I don't know what the logic might be there. The Lord of the Rings, Rings of Power, brings a screen to epic drama at thousands of year, blah, okay, so we know all that. So, yeah, there you go. So that's the situation. I'll tell you what, as I was saying at the beginning of my presentation for the story,
Starting point is 00:58:37 at a time when so many studios have stopped making certain things because the first season didn't work or the second season got lower viewership, so we just canceled it. I mean, a lot of you people who love the acolyte would love to have had a prime video keep going and make five seasons of the acolyte, hoping it would find its feet in the second season and do really well. Who knows, right? they're quite as they mentioned fantastic beasts as well you know that was a law of diminishing
Starting point is 00:59:06 terms with every installment for sure quality wise and financially as well so i have to say i champion this i like a studio that stands behind uh its work and stands behind its creators and wants to finish out a story that they started telling i think it at a time now when so many studios are willing to cup eight run the fact that you have a studio that is like no we're contractually and we're going to do five seasons. Now, I mean, we just had that with Star Trek Strange New Worlds. They cut down the episode order. So I don't know if there's an episode order mandate per season as well.
Starting point is 00:59:43 What if it's just six episodes? They drop them all at once. We've contractually done what we're obligated to do. We're rolling on out of here. It's very possible that they cut the budgets, cut the story, cut the episode or a number, rather, and then eventually roll on out of here. and maybe even shoot four and five back to back or together so that they could just, you know, save on costs
Starting point is 01:00:07 and then put those out when they want to put them out. So, you know, as much as you may hate the Rings of Power, some of you may hate the Rings of Power series, it's going to continue. And maybe it gets better. Maybe possibly season three is better. Season four is better. I mean, there are plenty of shows.
Starting point is 01:00:23 They got better in their second and third seasons. Seinfeld certainly got better after that first season. Parks and Recreation. got better after that first season. The Sopranos first season is good, but I think those other seasons are better. So, you know, we see that happen with TV shows all the time that their second, third, or fourth seasons get better.
Starting point is 01:00:42 I mean, Madman's first season was good. But when they got to the meat of Madman in the middle of that run, those are some excellent seasons. So, you know, in that situation, I think that's what you look at. Even the wire, the first few episodes of the wire of season one, you kind of have to get through until it hits its stride. and then you're on board there for the subsequent seasons, which were damn good, which were damn good.
Starting point is 01:01:04 So, yeah, the office, the office as well. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah. What happened? Trying to say, what's going? Anyway, I love says, I want Christian, I love to fail and do the show for the rest of his life.
Starting point is 01:01:19 Well, that's not, yeah, keep dreaming, keep dreaming. So, but yeah, that's the situation there. So we'll see what happens with rings of power and how it all goes about. is there anything else we want to talk about before we get to the questions? We have 21 questions we'd love to get. As I said, we'd love to get to 60. Please send
Starting point is 01:01:38 in your streamline, oh, you see your super chance rather as we go along here. Oh, here's some news. This just broke. Let me bring this up. For those of you who might be interested in this, Marvel Zombies Season 2 has been greenlit.
Starting point is 01:01:54 Apparently, it's in the works. Let's see here. Marvel, much has been said about Marvel's animation plans for Marvel Zombies, and Brad Windlebaum, the head of streaming at Marvel Studios, has now confirmed the season two is officially moving forward. Talking on the Escape Pod, the executive confirmed that he's already watched an animatic for the second season. Suggesting that scripts are written and work on the TVMA series is already well underway.
Starting point is 01:02:20 I don't think this is a spoiler, but I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombie Season 2 this morning. It was crazy. I can't say anything about it, but it delivers not just on zombies, but also on an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we're very excited to do. That's an intriguing hint about what's to come, and it will be interesting to see how Marvel animation pushes the boundaries
Starting point is 01:02:38 when Marvel Zombies returns to our screen. Season 1 certainly took some big swings, but could only do so much when it was planned as a feature and split into four episodes somewhere along the way. True. Marvel zombies wrapped up on a grim, somewhat confusing note, the Scarlet Witch, utilizing the power of Infinity Hulk and Ms. Marvel to reshape reality,
Starting point is 01:02:54 leaving Kamala Khan trapped in a world that while seemingly normal on the surface is now ruled by the undead. The ending did leave the door open to telling more stories in this alternate reality as Iron Heart was revealed to be alive
Starting point is 01:03:05 and attempted to get through to her best friend who we assume is supposed to be sitting there in a trance surrounded by zombies. Again, it was a little ambiguous. Zombies didn't receive the warmest reception and has a so-so 66%
Starting point is 01:03:15 on Rotten Tomatoes and 69% in the popcorn meter and has since been reported that it was a hit for model of animation in terms of streaming viewership. Ah, Brian Andrews says, we always knew it was going to be this.
Starting point is 01:03:26 The question was how much to show at the end of the bleakness. Oh, yeah, it's just comments about it. And for those you don't remember, Marvel Zombies was after Avengers overtaken by the zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discovers the key to bring an end to the superpower undead, racing across the dystopian landscape and risking life and limb
Starting point is 01:03:43 to save the world. Yeah, I liked Marvel Zombies. I did. I didn't think it was great, but I certainly enjoyed it. And yet, the ending was a little weird, but some of the visuals of the ending were utterly stunning. Like, when they went silent with the Hulk and the, all that, like the reality altering or changing, possibly destroying. I thought it was amazing to see that. But yes, how we got there was a bit stumbling at times.
Starting point is 01:04:07 But overall, I thought the show worked. So season two now, where it's not a film that they're turning into seasons and break. Like, I think that's a good thing. So I hope that that leads to better, a better season of this kind of stuff as well. someone's mentioning Devastator. You're probably right. Devastator is probably coming. So it's something new, something different, something they've ever seen. And I wonder, because I'm going to CinemaCon next week,
Starting point is 01:04:36 God, I can't believe it's already next week, if they will be showing us the animatics of Marvel Zombie Season 2, maybe some footage of the animatics, which could be a lot of fun. So, but yes, definitely, listen, follow me at the Roka says on social media and subscribe to my channel. YouTube.com slash John Roker says. because I will be covering cinema con. I will be there.
Starting point is 01:05:00 I will try my damnedest to do a live show every day of the stuff I've seen. It will all depend on timing. It would all depend on secret screenings of movies. But I will have coverage of cinema con on my channel next week. And of course, on my social media as well. So you'll cover me for that stuff. So we'll see. But yeah, I like that Marvel Zombies is getting a second season
Starting point is 01:05:21 and that they're going to explore something more. And hopefully that's a better season that's more interesting. to watch. I mean, they just did Wonder Man, which is positive. Hopefully Spider-Man is great. Hopefully Avengers Doomsday is great. And then we've got ourselves a nice little new mini-renaissance of Marvel stuff. It could be fun to see down the road. So we will see. All right. Well, let's get to the questions. We've got 21 of them here. And so let's just dive in and see how long this takes us. And if you want to keep me on the air, send in super chats. Send in you love here as we go along. I would appreciate that. And again, I want to get to 60. We're at 21
Starting point is 01:06:01 now. We'd love for you all to help me get to that. Daniel Muno says he became a YouTube member. Thank you, Daniel, for joining here for the Christian Hall-Lov show. And as Christian might say, this is the perfect time of the channel. We got so much going on. So many. So most things that doctors know that most dudes never really talk about, stress from work and money and family, it doesn't just disappear at night. It follows you right into the bedroom. Starting point is 01:07:22 Tell them that we sent you. So many reaction videos or comments. We got so much going. I don't even know. Here, actually, Daniel, let's pull this up. Let's give some plugs to Christian stuff. Hold on a second. Let's bring up his channel and see what he.
Starting point is 01:07:36 Oh, Jesus, Christ, hold up. Let's see what his channel is. Ooh, there's a Hulk Hogan trailer? Oh, interesting. I might have to do a reaction to that one. Yeah, he's got his one set piece. Oh, sorry, one piece, not one set. One piece reaction.
Starting point is 01:07:54 But by the way, who's ever doing the thumbnails? Luke, if you're doing the thumbnails, These are excellent thumbnails for his One Piece reaction video. Luke, will you teach a seminar on thumbnails? I would pay to learn thumbnails if you teach a seminar, sir. What else have we got reactions for him? Reactions and reviews? There we go.
Starting point is 01:08:12 The scary movie dropped four days ago there as well. I think that's Matt Sarah with Christian doing the scary movie. Sam reacted there. As with the ready or not reaction was last week. Or two weeks ago they put that one up as well. but yeah, Kill Bill, Volume 2 went up with there as well. Their Game of Thrones reaction videos are doing really well. So those are ones that are up as well.
Starting point is 01:08:35 So yeah, there's a lot going on right now in terms of reaction videos here on the channel and other shows as well. So as Christian, as John Roker, as Christian Harlow said, now's the time. Now's the perfect time. A member of the Christian Harlem channel. Seattle Chaos says, did you watch SNL, Jack Black, and Jack White? I watched some of the sketches yesterday.
Starting point is 01:08:56 this morning. The lunchroom sketch was amazing. Ashley Padilla is a superstar in the making on that show. She is the Jan Hooks, Kristen Whig, Sherry-O-Terry type of utility player on that show. You put her in any sketch, and she's great. And so I love what she's doing on the show. And the new girl, I don't know the name of the new girl on the show. she has been great as well when they did that show S&L cast 6 when they did that driving where is
Starting point is 01:09:37 yeah Veronica Slovakowska she has been a great addition to the show her stuff with Ashley when they were guarding the thing from those one-eyed cyclops I thought that was she was hilarious the scene with her
Starting point is 01:09:53 and Jane Wickline when they're in the burger place trying to hit on Harry Stiles. She was great in that as well. So she's been a great addition to the show. So, yeah. And Cam Patterson got a chance to sign finally, who rarely gets a chance to shine,
Starting point is 01:10:13 you know, on the show, doing the Black Severus Snape sketch that he did over the weekend. But Sarah Sherman, of course, killing it as well. But yeah, I like some of the sketches with Jack. My choice is I watch Woody Allen's deconstructing Harry the other day. Yikes. That movie is not aged well. Very problematic these days, given what we know of him. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But, you mean, go back and watch Madhattan. Go back and
Starting point is 01:10:35 watch some of these other films from his early days. There are some unsettling things with Woody. So, yeah, very much so. It's his own thing. So we will see. We will see with, yeah, deconstructing Harry. I think it wasn't one of his best installments. I remember laughing, though, about the sulfur line. That was really funny throughout the whole movie but yeah not not a not a good one overall wiley who has been a member for six months what's up man he says roke i was looking for your review of gen v season two of geek buddies but didn't see it did you watch season two i have not seen season one i've watched any of gen v wiley it's just like there's so much bro there's so much there's so much plus i watch sports plus i watch movie you know
Starting point is 01:11:15 movies there's so there's only so much i can get to brother man but uh unfortunately i haven't gotten to any of gen v season two i've only watched the recaps so that i can have had background knowledge for the boys seasons. And certainly the new season of the boys comes out this week. So yeah, I will be recapping season two to see what, watching recap season two to see what I need to know for the boys season five. But yeah, I know a lot of people love Gen V. This is one that I haven't been able to make time for.
Starting point is 01:11:44 It's a lot. It's like 10 hours. So it's just a lot. Thank you though. Wiley. Lincoln says, happy birthday to The Smasher today. Right. It's on Facebook from Prodigal Night on Discord.
Starting point is 01:11:55 Yeah, happy birthday to the smash air. My co-host on the Jedi Way and, of course, legendary Shmodown champion in the inner geekdom. You know, I was thinking the other day about my last match and how, like, when I walked out of the curtain, I saw Kevin walk in because he was coming back to the Shmodown after his cancer struggles. And it was, I remember that moment. It was the end of my era. And I thought it was the beginning of Kevin's era, kind of running the Shmodown and being the superstar of the Shmodown.
Starting point is 01:12:23 but unfortunately the next year the shmode went out of business but like Kevin is an amazing guy a very fun guy doing shows with him as like riding a wild horse all the time you don't know where it's going to stop and if it or if it's going to stop when he gets going on things but you know he's been great and he's a great friend and he's become a very fast and great friend in my life and so yeah happy birthday to the smasher and those of you who should follow him on his social media especially those of you who have maybe dealt with this stuff with the cancer that he dealt with. He has a great...
Starting point is 01:12:58 He's building up a great following there talking about that kind of stuff. So definitely follow him on his TikTok and his social media. Matt Smith, Call, it's my birthday as well. Oh, happy birthday, Matt Sinister. Rank these five movies that came out, the year, I was born. Ooh, you're born in 99, huh? The Lion King, the Professional Pulp Fiction.
Starting point is 01:13:16 Oh, sorry. 99. Is that 99? The Crow and Interview. No, it? 94? That's 94, right. Pole fiction is 94. All right. So Lion King, professional Pulp Fiction, the Crow, and interview the vampire. So Pulp Fiction clearly number one. Yeah, the professional number two, Lion King number three. I know some of you go lose your minds, but I'm not the biggest Lion King fan. Then the Crow, then interview the vampire. Yeah, that's
Starting point is 01:13:52 basically the lineup. I mean, I might even move the crow above the Lion King, just as my personal ranking. You know, Like King's a good movie. Objectively, an excellent animated film nominated for Best Picture. It deserves to be ranked in the upper echelon of films, right? I'm not saying that. But if you're asking me, do I want to watch the Lion King right now? I don't.
Starting point is 01:14:15 Do I want us to professional right now? Yes. Do I watch the Crowe right now? Yes. Do I want to watch Pulp Fiction right now? Yes. So maybe that is my ranking. Pulp Fiction, professional, Crow, Lion King, interview the vampire.
Starting point is 01:14:28 There you go. Be mad at me all you want, everybody. Hey Johnny Patrizas Also happy birthday message for McCall Thanks for being a big fan here And on my channel as well Much love to you, brother
Starting point is 01:14:38 Johnny Petriza Says both got Both got knocked out of the FA Cup Roka, yes, Arsenal, Liverpool Hopefully we can pull our finger out And get back on track Yeah, I mean, I don't know which team you root for So you say we,
Starting point is 01:14:52 I don't know if we mean Arsenal Orson or we mean Liverpool But I don't want Arsenal To win any trophies this year Your fan base is insufferable So I'm happy you guys lost to Southampton. And if you blow the league to Man City, I'll be happy about that.
Starting point is 01:15:05 And if you get knocked out by sporting, is it tomorrow or Wednesday? I'll be happy about that. Because we are absolutely going to get smashed by PSG. There's no doubt. Liverpool, there's no doubt. And then eventually, I don't even know if we'll hold on to top five
Starting point is 01:15:20 to make Champions League because those players aren't playing for slot anymore. This season is over. Over. Johnny also says, how do you feel mania shaping? up like dog shit it's just i'm gonna do a live watch along there's there's no doubt i'll do a live watch along although i think i'll miss the first no no no i will be because i'll be back on friday i will do a live watch along of russomani on my channel that's a tradition and it never changes
Starting point is 01:15:44 um but i am not excited about it and bringing in pat mcalfi which has been about the biggest wet fart this side of Travis scott in the wwe and then bringing these celebrities it's Lil Yadi and all these other people, you know, I saw Lil Yadi say, listen, don't shit on my dream of being in the WWE. I've been watching WW forever. And it's like, yeah, I get it, bro. Knock yourself out.
Starting point is 01:16:08 You're a fan, no problem. It's just that right now creatively, the WWE is in the doghouse. And when you're hearing that Ari is the one who is making decisions from up top and forcing created to go with his decisions, that is just a massive mistake. because this dude doesn't know
Starting point is 01:16:26 fucking one thing about professional wrestling and why it all works. And celebrities aren't an issue being at WrestleMania. That's been the legacy since the first WrestleMania when they had Liberace and Aretha Franklin and Muhammad Ali
Starting point is 01:16:39 and all these other. I mean, WrestleMania 3 is one of the greatest WrestleMania is Bob Euker was all over that with Mary Hart from Entertainment tonight. So they've always had celebrities. It's the way you use celebrities. That's the problem. And it feels like they're desperately using celebrities
Starting point is 01:16:52 because their creative has done a terrible job on some of these storylines to build up these wrestlers. And so where they're created, these celebrities are not being added on to. They're being used as the focus to save the WrestleMania. Save WrestleMania. And that's not, that's not a good thing. Goopal says, have you seen majors falling out the window yet? Yes, it did.
Starting point is 01:17:15 I felt, listen, I felt bad for him. I know he's got the situation that happened. But, you know, he went through his trial process. He went, you know, he served his time, the time he had to serve. paid is fine, did all things he needed to do. That's what we ask of society when you go through the criminal or go through the legal process and there's a decision made, you follow through with that decision, and then that's it. You get to move on with your life. So I think it's terrible. This just shows the stupidity of going with a low rent production company like Daily Wire
Starting point is 01:17:44 who don't care about, it clearly looks like they don't care about actor safety and him and his fellow actor, not just Jonathan Majors, his fellow actor as well. They both went through that window. And it's so irresponsible. And when they're questioned about it, their representative stupidly says, we don't talk to communists. And it's like,
Starting point is 01:18:06 do you people have a grown-up brain cell in your fucking heads? Like, what is wrong with you? Two people were almost seriously injured on your set. News sites have a right to ask you about it and question you about it, you know? but of course, that's all they ever know to do is fall on talking points rather than actually taking responsibility. GoPas's Daily Wire, no believe in safety video on Deadline.
Starting point is 01:18:35 Okay, yeah, yeah, I'll take a look at that one as well. But yeah, Deadline was the one who asked them about it. And they're like, we don't talk to communists. We're tough guys. We don't talk to communists. Oh, fucking hell. Mike Joyce says, who would you cast in the inevitable Hollywood movie about the pilots that crashed or were rescued from Iran over the weekend? Oh, Jesus.
Starting point is 01:18:52 First of all, it's way too soon to even think about Hollywoodizing that because so many lives are being lost in this situation that's going on in Iran. I know it's not political shows, so we're not going to get too deep into it. But I'm not even thinking about them doing a movie about that. I mean, we saw a version of that in Top Gun Maverick, right? For those who saw that, so there was a version of that in Top Gun Maverick that we've already seen. What was behind enemy lines, I think was that too, with Will. Owen Wilson.
Starting point is 01:19:21 not Will. Oh, and Wilson. So I don't know. I don't know who would cast. I guess Glenn Powell again. You know, I guess Glenn Powell again as he was done in Top God Maverick and in the film with Jonathan Majors. I can't forget, I can't forget, remember the name of that. But yeah, I mean, maybe them. I mean, Jacob Allorty is the flavor of the month right now. So Jacob Allerty could be interesting, but we'll see. We'll see. I don't know that Hollywood, maybe Warner
Starting point is 01:19:52 Brothers are Paramount now that they're going to be owned by Ellison. We'll do it. We'll see. Jay Sisk, 22 says, hope to see the Star Fox spin-off as an anime style. Yeah, I like that in the movie. The anime-style intro to Star Fox was awesome. And so if they go down that route, I agree with you.
Starting point is 01:20:09 I 100% would love to see that as a spinoff movie, because I thought that was fun. But that was a problem. They introduced him, and then Lars, and then, you know, big stretch where he doesn't show up, then he shows up, and then it's gone. And so I would have liked much more with StarFox. And it didn't feel like leave them wanting more. It felt like we didn't get enough.
Starting point is 01:20:31 Goopal says, Housemade on Stars did not expect where it went. Oh yeah, I haven't seen The House Made. I probably should do a reaction video to The House Made. Yeah, maybe while I'm in Vegas, maybe I'll record a reaction this week of watching that movie. That of the Melania movie, I should do that and post those next week. I've had a couple people reach out who want to edit some reaction videos for me. So if you're a good editor and a good reaction video editor and you want to help me out and not charge me too much
Starting point is 01:21:01 because I can't, you know, I don't make Christian Harlow for money on his channel. I will, please feel free to reach out to me because I would love to see what you do. If you have samples of having done it or feel real or whatever, I would love to see it. Some people have reached out and their reaction videos are pretty simple. Just put me up there, put me down. I need a little artistry, need a little flare,
Starting point is 01:21:21 a little fun to it. I need something that. that reflects who John Roca is. So if you're going to edit for me, you've got to know what my channel is and my style and my energy, and that's got to come through in the reaction video. So if you're an editor listening to me right now,
Starting point is 01:21:34 watching me right now, and you're willing to work with me on a price and willing to deliver a good reaction video, I can give you consistent work because I want to get into these reaction videos and as I'm doing more of my video essays, if any of you want to edit my video essays, I'd be open for that as well.
Starting point is 01:21:50 Thank you, go pal. I'm definitely going to watch that movie at some point. Fiona George is curious, but with Superbari being out there, are there any of the games you'd like to see as a TV film adaptation? I mean, I'm in the Ghosts of Yote, Ghost of Tsushima place. So I would love to see a samurai movie based on Ghost of Shushima, based on Ghost of Yota. I'd be so down to see that.
Starting point is 01:22:14 What else do I? Oh, the Clare Obscura thing as well. Oh, my God, I've started playing that. That is intense. so that could be an interesting one. We do have a god of war coming already and a new House of the Dead one coming as well.
Starting point is 01:22:31 What else? What else? I mean, obviously the Calcestus stuff, if they ever get around to doing that, which I do think there is a time window. I think we're running towards the end of the time window for them to be able to do a Calcestis TV series. So I hope they put that
Starting point is 01:22:50 the pipeline soon because I think we would love to see it. Carlton Runes says London, what's up, Carlton? Sending your support, John. Great second episode of the Cine Files on Stand By Me. Thank you. It's all Fuse and the drama at the cinema this weekend. Oh, Fuse. What is Fuse? I didn't know if Fuse is a movie that's out. Thanks on the love for the Cinefiles.
Starting point is 01:23:07 Yeah, we just did part two of Stand By Me in honor of the 40th anniversary of the movie. So both parts, we finished the movie. Both parts are up wherever you download podcasts, the C-I-F-I-L-E-S. We've been doing that show for almost 10 years now. My partner, Steve Morris, who's a director in L.A. We've been doing it for 10 years. We get 150,000 to 250,000 downloads a month from our episode.
Starting point is 01:23:36 So it's my most successful podcast by far. And we do a great job of break, in my opinion, do a great job of breaking down a T, sorry, a film to the bones, like to the bones. And we go scene by scene through the movie, and we play clips of the movie as we're talking about the scenes that we're talking about. So you're almost rewatching the movie again
Starting point is 01:23:56 with people who are talking with you about the scenes, giving you background information, giving you tidbits, giving you news items, and what have you, and bringing up stuff for debate and analyzing it as well. So Fuse, what is Fuse here? David McKenzie directed for, oh, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Theo James and Sam Worthington, an unexploded WW2 bomb
Starting point is 01:24:18 World War II bomb is discovered on a busy construction site in the center of London. Chaos ensues as the military police begin a massive evacuation against the taking clock. I don't think this is out in theaters here, so you must have seen it in the UK, brother, because I don't see it listed as something that's out in America.
Starting point is 01:24:34 But maybe it is. Regal sometimes puts those films out for people to see a few showtimes. I'm going to put a few showtimes. A few showtimes at AMC. No, nothing from AMC, a Fusatong, Fandango. No, nothing. So it's not out of here yet, brother.
Starting point is 01:24:55 So hopefully to come out soon, we'll see. Hope you enjoyed both of them. Gen X, Kim, what's up? What's up, JettX? Just dropping some digital love, AKA Funds, your way, considered a post-Easter miracle back to the grind, but I had to say, Hail Mary still slaps harder every watch for sure.
Starting point is 01:25:11 Classic. Hope your resurrection day was as epic as Hail Mary, yes. I think that's what that means. Thank you. Yes. Yeah, I had a good Easter. Yes, so happy Easter to everybody. Those of you celebrate the resurrection of Christ as well, happy Easter. I am a Christian. I worship God and Christ. So yes, yesterday was a great day to honor that he has risen.
Starting point is 01:25:33 And, you know, we watched 10 commandments or I watched 10 commandments and Prince of Egypt in honor of that as well. And then hung out with the lady and had a nice dinner. So along with some of the basketball, some of the highlights of the basketball stuff. So yeah. but yes a very good day I hope you all had a wonderful Easter as well and enjoyed it much love to all of you Jenice Kid also says catch it later
Starting point is 01:25:53 peace and blessings thank you Jen X thank you much love peace and blessings back to you uh gopaz says do you have your Fargo North Dakota ring Fargo North no what is Fargo what is that what am I not getting on that reference Fargo North
Starting point is 01:26:07 I don't know what that is so I don't know what that Fargo North Dakota ring is so sorry but i don't know what that means uh night fox uh 1190s is dune three imax tickets are now on sale all four showings in my iamax are already sold out shake my head yeah no surprise it is one of the perks of being a critic that i get to go to these screenings and sometimes see them in iMacs because that's how the studio wants you to review these films so i hope dune three is a press only screening for us and so there's only 10 15 people in this in the in the theater and we can watch dune on iMac tune three on iMacs i'm
Starting point is 01:26:45 looking forward to that one. I'm so looking forward to that. I can't wait until it comes out. Mike Joyce says, what do you make of Kanye doing so well at SoFi? I'm not surprised. We're a society that forgives. Look, I just mentioned there's a Hulk Hogan documentary coming from Netflix. I'm going to do a trailer reaction to it, probably after the show's done. And we've got Louis C.K. Headlining again, he's going to be at Netflix as a joke festival. So society forgives after a while. I think what Kanye said was extremely racist and supremely problematic, but people have a love for his music. I still listen to Kanye's music.
Starting point is 01:27:24 I'm never going to pull that out of my rotation for my own reasons, but I certainly have trouble with him, certainly have problems with him. But I also think he's a mentally unstable person. There's a lot that's happened to him that I have to put that into the mix. It doesn't eliminate what he said. It doesn't mean what he said wasn't terrible. It absolutely is.
Starting point is 01:27:42 But I also have to factor in that this dude is a mentally unwell guy, lot of the times. So, you know, have you ever dealt with an addict? You know that. When you deal with an addict sometimes, you have to come to terms of some of the things they say and do in the thrones of their addiction, throes of their addiction versus who you knew them to be before the addiction. So it's like that kind of thing. So with Kanye to a degree, I have to kind of do that with him. So I think a lot of people do, which is why I wasn't surprised. I would have gone, I would have gotten to see him. I'm not going to lie to you. If I could have gotten a ticket and spent that much money and wanted to be around a bunch of people, which I rarely do nowadays, I would have gone to see him.
Starting point is 01:28:16 So I'm not surprised it did. So it doesn't mean I endorse what he said. I endorse his points of views. It's just that he's performing his hits. And I would like to have seen him live. Yeah. So I'm not surprised at all. I did so well.
Starting point is 01:28:31 McCabe says from our family to yours. Happy Easter. Much love. Thank you, Sean. Same thing to you, brother, looking dapper as ever. I said love Cox put out a weird emoji there. go passes. It blurs together a bit since I binged the whole thing in about two weeks, but I recall the wire peaked in season one, then dip with the schools and the docks.
Starting point is 01:28:49 That is not correct. The wire, every season was great, in my opinion. I've rewatched it. It's on HBO Max in full HD. If you've never watched the wire in full HD 16 by 9, do yourself a favor and watch it on HBO Max. It's amazing. No, season one was good, but I think, but a lot of people, people love season two. The outlaw is a big fan of season two. Some people who
Starting point is 01:29:16 even have season two is their favorite season. I think season three was great. I think that's the peak season three. Season four, then stuff with the schools and the newspaper, I liked both of those seasons for expanding the world of what David Simon was doing with the wire. So yeah, I would disagree with that brother. Lopez says, is you taking notes on an MF and criminal conspiracy was a rebound to end the series? Is you taking notes on MF and was a rebound? Yeah, yeah, the final season of it didn't do well. I agree with that. I agree with that. 28 Vascoes is Roka. Hope you used to. It was nice. Jeremy Johns did a review of Gibson's Passion of the Christ. Would you ever consider? I watched it. I watched his review of Passion of the Christ. I was blown away that he did it. And it was 14 minutes. Jeremy doesn't do reviews that are 14 minutes. So I was really impressed that he did it. Now, the cynical part of me is like, is he pandering? He runs a YouTube channel. I don't know. I've never had any conversations with Jeremy about his religious beliefs or his desire to revisit this movie.
Starting point is 01:30:18 So I wouldn't know. So I have to take him at the way he presented. I thought he did a great review of it. That's been a while since I've seen it. But as I said, I've been exploring doing more video essays on my channel. So a video essay on the Passion of the Christ might not be a bad thing. It might be an interesting thing to explore and do, you know, because I have been and have been vocal about my Christianity since I got into this business. and my belief in God since I've never shot away from that. I haven't put it on the, you know, put it on like, this is who I am. I haven't done that. But people follow me know my beliefs.
Starting point is 01:30:51 I don't, I'm not a, like I don't go. Sure, so I'm not a religious person, but I believe in God. I believe in Christ. And so it would be, and I loved Passionately Christ. I really did. I cried. I watched it three times that movie when it first came out and I sobbed in the theater every time, you know, because the crucifixion is a very big deal to me.
Starting point is 01:31:09 And so seeing, and I thought, Cavizal was incredible. And, of course, I'm not a biggest fan of Cabizel nowadays. And I thought Gibson directed the hell of that movie. I mean, that's one of the crimes of the whole thing. If Gibson hadn't lost his mind, kind of like Kanye did, we wouldn't have been robbed of years of incredible work. He's a fucking great director.
Starting point is 01:31:29 Braveheart, Apocalyptic, Pashions of the Christ. I mean, that's a hell of a resume as a director. Haxel Ridge, right? nominated for Best Picture, I think. So yeah, it's a shame on overall. So yeah, I may consider it to it. Actually, it's a good idea, Vasco. You know, I may have missed the window here with Easter.
Starting point is 01:31:48 It probably was the time to do it. But, you know, it's not like you turn off being a Christian, you know, when it's not Easter. So maybe it'd be something to swing back and try for sure. Richard D'Arson, Hayden in Jumper versus Marvel Nightcrawler who wins. I've never seen jumpers, so I don't know. but I would give it to Nightcrawler because it's Marvel. And I feel like Nightcrawler has more experience doing what he does than Hayden does in Jumper.
Starting point is 01:32:17 So I would give it to Nightcrawler based on length of experience. GoPass is whatever happened to Mia Wissacowska. That's a great question. I think she went back to school for a bit. If I'm not wrong, because yeah, she was in Alice in Wonderland. Jane Eyre. I remember her in Jane Eyre. But yeah, she's got what?
Starting point is 01:32:36 So he's got four or two films that are coming out this year. One called Leviticus, another called Fing. So I don't know anything about these movies. Maybe one's already come out. I don't know. Tycho Wittiti is in that movie with her. And then Leviticus is, two teenage boys must escape a violent entity
Starting point is 01:32:58 that takes the form of the person they desire most each other. Oh, interesting. All right. So there you go. I haven't seen either of those movies, but they came out this year. But she hadn't done a movie for three years before that, Club Zero. So yeah, it's a good question. She's kind of fallen off from where she was at.
Starting point is 01:33:15 I mean, Alice through the Looking Glass Crimson Peak, that's probably the apex of her fame. And then it's been some weird choices that haven't really done that well since that time. So, yeah. I mean, this happens sometimes with actors and actresses that they peak at a certain moment and then they don't kind of, get to the next level or stay at the next level once they taste the next level for whatever reasons. Maybe they don't want to do it. Maybe they don't want to be around the Hollywood
Starting point is 01:33:43 machine. Like Abby Cornish, I thought Abby Cornish was going to be a superstar. I mean, I saw Somersault, which was her first movie. And she was incredible in Somersault. And I'm like, oh, this is going to be a next kind of indie star. And she never quite achieved that level of fame and success. And I remember her in two billboards. I was shocked when she showed up in two billboards outside of Bing, Missouri, or three billboards outside of Ebbing, Missouri.
Starting point is 01:34:11 But, you know, she's consistently worked. They just haven't been like well-known films other than three billboards outside Evan, Missouri. Yeah, she was in Robocop. Remember, she was Clara, the wife in Robocop. So, yeah, and sucker punch. I remember her in sucker punch. Right, exactly.
Starting point is 01:34:27 So, yeah, just weird how it works out. Sean McCabe's conversation from yesterday. Could there be a through line between Daredebel leading into Spider-Man, which then leads into Doomsday? Yes. I think the shot of them jumping off against the hand, a lot of people suspect that there are other people in that screen. And I think they're never, I think Daredevil may be one of them.
Starting point is 01:34:56 I mean, they made a Spider-Man reference in Born Again. So already. I think it's very possible. Yes, I think there could be a through line between all three of them. Yes, for sure. Passage McCall, physical media collection video, you get many of these. Oh, right. I need to do that. Sorry, Matt. Yes, you're right. You're right. Maybe not this week, Matt, because, I mean, I'm getting ready for Vegas. But yes, great point, by the. Go, pal, is a lority too tall to sit in a cockpit? I don't think that. That's a good question.
Starting point is 01:35:23 I don't know. I don't know. All right. Let's keep going with these questions. Johnny says, Arsenal fan. Oh, yeah. Hopefully we win. And Totten get relegated. I like Liverpool, sad to see them struggling. I get where you're coming from with our fans. Yeah, I watched, I watched your Arsenal fans on TikTok. I watched those shows. Man, they are some, I mean, they made fun of us when we were trying to go for the quadruple.
Starting point is 01:35:46 So to see you guys stumbling, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. And I used to love Arsenal. I thought their fans were great back in the early 2000s when I was really getting into the Premier League and watching all that stuff. And Arson Venger's time, like all those, the Invincibles, all of those guys. It was amazing. But the fan base over the last few years has become almost insufferable with their new. There's always, there's always
Starting point is 01:36:06 a conspiracy. There's always a referee that doesn't like them. There's always making fun of the other teams and the other players and rooting for them to fail. Like they hate Virgil Van Dyke and Sala. They laugh at Sala's struggles now. So I can't really get behind y'all. Plus, Artetta, I think, is a... Anyway.
Starting point is 01:36:29 Johnny Petriza, I'd like a Star-killer TV show over Cal and you know a Star Killer Sure a Star Killer yeah sure a lot of people would love a Star Killer show I don't disagree with that 20 Vasco says I could attest about the Cineophiles been listening to it since the beginning fantastic show thank you 20A Bosco
Starting point is 01:36:44 I appreciate that yeah we're very proud of the work we do on that channel on that show rather on that podcast I know a lot of you you know you get the John Roker who's like like that on that on YouTube and all of that stuff but on that show much more intellectual much more analytical it doesn't mean we don't have occasional you know
Starting point is 01:37:00 disagreements or whatever, especially if you ever listen to our episodes of Crimson tied. Steve and I did not agree. He sided with Gene Hackman. I sided with Denzel Washington. And that was a fun, contentious episode. But that's a rarity. We mostly kind of just dive into the intellectual analysis of the movies. And so it's kind of what I hang my hat on about being a critic. Like that, though those, we do a really great job of analyzing those films are bringing down themes and messaging and also the cinematography and also the technical like Steve because as a director knows the lenses that are used for certain shots so it's almost like a film school like really our our podcast is a mini film school so if you guys are curious about terms and
Starting point is 01:37:43 why certain lenses are used why certain lighting is used why certain things are framed in a certain way or angles are like that's all in the podcast along with discussions about meaning and symbolism and themes and performances and writing and all of that. So, yeah, highly recommend that if you guys haven't, and we've been doing it for 10 years, so there's no way we haven't covered a movie that you all love. Global says, Fargo, North Dakota ring is an electric company. Oh, hold on.
Starting point is 01:38:14 Oh, my God, the electric company, right. Is that Morgan Freeman, who did the Fargo, North Dakota ring? Are you sure you're saying, I don't, hold on. Oh, Fargo, North Dakota. Right, right, right, right, right, right. Who played that? Do you remember who played that? Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, Jesus. Right, right, right. Wow. That's Morgan Freeman, the Electric Company. That's, it's going way back in time. The Electric Company was in Reefat. By the time I was a kid, but I thought it'd be in your wheelhouse.
Starting point is 01:38:45 Yeah, I remember the Electric Company, but I don't remember everything about the electric company. I remember, hey, you guys. I remember Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman, but I don't remember much else about the Electric Company. I remember more about the Great Space Coaster and MT Promises, for those you hold off to remember the Great Space Coaster. KJ says in her book, Brandy says that at 16, she lost her innocent to Juania Morris, 22 years old of boys to men.
Starting point is 01:39:08 Is this problematic? Should there be charges? Yes, it's problematic. Should there be charges? I think all depends on states where this occurred and the statute of limitations. Because there is a statute of limitations in some states for this situation.
Starting point is 01:39:28 And boystamand have become very problematic over the last two decades. You know, there was a falling out between them. There have been numerous videos of people who worked with them and talked about how cocky and arrogant and condescending they were to people they worked with, how much they thought their shit didn't stink. because they could sing. There's been a lot that's come out of boystom, and then them taking pictures of Mike Johnson,
Starting point is 01:40:00 got them crap the other day when all black celebrities were being outed as MAGA the other day. So yeah, so when you add this to the mix, it's yet another example of some uncomfortable stuff that's gone on there. But I mean, let's not act like he's the first 22-year-old who's had sex with a 16-year-old
Starting point is 01:40:17 in the music business, in the entertainment business in life. So, yeah, it's unsettling when you hear it. I think it's certainly problematic for sure, but charges are a whole other conversation. It's not something I can, because I don't know what state it occurred in.
Starting point is 01:40:33 I don't know the laws of that state. Master of McCall says a favorite Kanye song, mine is power or runaway. Runaway's great. Hold on. This is a good question. I've never been asked this question. Oh, this is a good question.
Starting point is 01:40:58 Jesus walks is probably my quietly favorite, Kanye saw. All three music videos are amazing for different reasons because there were three different music video versions of Jesus walks. I think Javier Bardem plays Jesus in one of them. I think that's him, the black and white one.
Starting point is 01:41:20 But I love that song. That's not my favorite but it's not my number one, but it's quietly my favorite, right? But I would say where is it? Touch the sky. is my favorite one to jam out to because I think that's a great cardio song on the elliptical. Oh, yes, All Falls Down is probably my favorite. Yeah, probably All Falls Down.
Starting point is 01:41:48 Yeah, just the beginning. Radio and All Falls down. And just the lyrics of that. That to me, that is his mission statement. That every lyric, every rap lyric in All Falls Down is Kanye West's mission statement. of deconstructing the rap game. It's almost like people talk about neo-Westerns that deconstruct Westerns.
Starting point is 01:42:11 He is deconstructing the rap game throughout that entire song and showing you how it's all for show. It's all. And talking about it, like it's all for show. You know, that everything is to present an image when in behind that image, we are much more broken. We're much, we're poorer than you think. This is tougher than you think.
Starting point is 01:42:32 So, yeah. I mean, I love, that's probably my. favorite one uh yeah it's probably my favorite one what are you all did you guys have some i mean i think flashing lights is great gold digger of course that's the popular that's a pop culture favorite one everyone loves gold digger uh stronger is great can't tell me nothing is great nwards in paris uh that's a fucking jam and a half man but that's that's j z and conier and power is great both versions the s andl version where he's ridiculing the cast and the original version are both uh great I also like black skinhead and new slaves from Yeezus.
Starting point is 01:43:08 I thought that was great. Even the, was it the Pablo, life of Pablo stuff is good. So, yeah, but it's been a while since I've liked the Kanye West track. There you go. That's your answer. Seattle Calus has finally watched Mission to Possible Final Reckoning. Yes, it's on prime video, I think.
Starting point is 01:43:23 The stunts were great, but the plot, however, is kind of eh, and it was also way too long. I'll tell you, it's a great, they bring that up to Seattle, because I just saw an interview with Rebecca Ferguson. And, you know, she talks about the, conversation she had with Tom and with Christopher about her character, what happens to her character. And I think it was a colossal miscalculation to move her out of the way to bring in Haley Atwell. And this is where sometimes the ego of Tom Cruise is a problem. And I love Tom. Listen, I worship
Starting point is 01:43:51 at the altar of the altar. I'm never going to say anything negative about Tom Cruise. I know all the Scientology, all that stuff I know. But I worship at his altar. The man can do no wrong in my opinion. However, I am willing to criticize him, which you know about John Roker. I know. I know. No one is above criticism, no matter how much I love them. And with Tom, I think they thought Rebecca was eclipsing Ethan, the Rebecca Ferrisen character. I think they thought she was eclipsing Ethan. People were liking her more than Ethan.
Starting point is 01:44:19 And I think Tom felt a little professional jealousy. And it's like, I am the lead of this franchise. I cannot have someone who is going to be a lead. And my co-lead, my female co-lead, I cannot have them overshadow me in my franchise. right and uh i think that's what happened to you tom cruz so they bring in haley outwell who is not going to uh overwhelm tom croix tom cruz's stardom she's a good actress i love haley i think she's great but she ain't in rebecca ferguson territory right i mean i think this is a whole other ball game and so i think they thought rebecca was starting i think tom felt and christopher maybe even a little bit
Starting point is 01:44:55 and bobby christopher doing tom's bidding to be honest with you because i mean like he's attached to his straighten to Tom. I think they realized, hey, she's getting too big or she's going to overshadow you and might even be better at what you're supposed to be better at doing as Ethan Hunt. Her character might be better at it. And I think they did what they did. And I think it was a colossal misstep. And so this is what happens in Hollywood sometimes because the film suffers, both those
Starting point is 01:45:20 films suffer for that decision because I love Haley again, but I don't think Haley is like a feature film superstar. and Rebecca is. And I think that's what happened at you. Some of you may disagree and I respect that, but it's my opinion. It's what I think happened there. Lovecox says, this is my last super chat to this channel.
Starting point is 01:45:39 Oh, that's a shame, Lovecox. Well, Christian will be back on Wednesday, so you can send them in on Wednesday. Massismicicelso, Satan scenes in passion scare me, and I love horror. Oh, okay, fair point. All right. Cool.
Starting point is 01:45:53 Oh, Passion of the Christ. Yes. Oh, you mean the Satan scenes in Passion of Christ? Yes, I agree. The guy they cast to play. Satan. And when he goes down into hell and has the back and forth with the fire and the cracked earth, that is a great scene. Holy shit, it is. And it is scary. 100%. Andrew Sanchez says, are there any screens that you're anticipating, hoping for it's cinema at Con John or not expecting
Starting point is 01:46:15 much? Have a good day. Love listening while working. Yeah, I don't know, brother. I'm hoping DC shows us some Supergirl stuff. I mean, I would love it if they showed Supergirl. Jeff doesn't think they'll do it. Jeff will be there as well. But I would love it if we got Supergirl. I really would. I mean, like I said, the Marvel stuff would be great to see any Marvel stuff. Maybe a longer preview of Spider-Man would be nice. I don't think they show the whole movie. There's supposedly, I think, an A-24 or neon movie that they're showing. But yeah, overall, I'm not anticipating anything.
Starting point is 01:46:46 I'm hoping for Star Wars or Marvel or DC, even, yeah, even some Supergirls, like, I just would love to see something. So we'll see. But I'm hoping for it. I'm not anticipating anything because then I won't get let down. if I anticipate them. And I haven't been in a few years, so I'm going to be holding on
Starting point is 01:47:05 with bingerails to figure out what's going on. NATOG, well, welcome to the membership here on this Christian Harlov channel. My choice, what's the last physical media you bought? Well, I have three criterion coming in right now. So those count as having been bought. They just had the half off sale,
Starting point is 01:47:28 so I just bought three, 10 to Yuma in 4K, the original, not the mangold film, the original with Glenn Ford. High and low, the 4K version. I have the Blu-ray version, but I wanted the 4K version, so I'll sell the Blu-ray version. And then I bought the Bruce Lee collection that they came out with because it was half off. So I bought those. So that is the last physical media stuff that I bought, brother. Did I buy anything else recently?
Starting point is 01:47:57 No. Well, yeah, I was a while ago. Tim Bino. Will you be watching the drama? Yes, I will try to watch it today. If not, I will watch it tomorrow. We will see how the afternoon goes on because I've got to record some reviews and stuff. While the OFCs is, do you think the country artist Keith Whitley or Buck Owens would make a good biopic movie or even a show in the style like George and Tammy? I think Keith Whitley would because of the tragic death of Keith Whitley. And of course, he'd been married to Lori Morgan at the time. So you have kind of the John Cazale-Marrell-Street type of connections with that in that, you know, someone who was
Starting point is 01:48:32 really just about on the come up and people were really loving him, passing away tragically. With John Cazale was a brain tumor, I think with Keith it was alcoholism or substance abuse, if I remember correctly. So it's a shame. So I think that could absolutely be a biopic. Maybe a streaming biopic. I don't know that that would be a full-on feature film. Or a series, I suppose a four-episode series would be interesting. And especially now, Paramount Plus seems a place you can put that on too, because they did the George and Tammy one. Buck Owens, I think it's a whole other ballgame. I don't know. You could do a Buck Owens, I suppose,
Starting point is 01:49:04 because of the Bakersfield sound. And you'd weave in Dwight Yocam into the Buck Owen stuff, plus his time on he-ha. So there is a lot with Buck Owens for sure. But I don't know how the name recognition would be to people nowadays. See. Go bust out.
Starting point is 01:49:19 I'm a Gary Ganoo. Yes. And the No Gadoos is Good Gadoo show. Yes, I loved Gary Ganoo. That's a great space coaster reference. Richard Ross is meant to send an aloha proper earlier. Aloha, John. Aloha Richards back to you. Is that right?
Starting point is 01:49:32 Is that I doing that right? Let's see. Fiona George also is someone who likes British TV film John and as a Brit, curious what's your favorite British thing to watch? Shit. I mean, Blackadder is the stupid easy reference. Easy one. Blackadder, right?
Starting point is 01:49:52 I mean, like, come on. Even the other day, we were flipping around. I think it's on Britbox now because we have both Britbox and Acorn. we are an anglophile house. The lady outlaw will probably tell you that Gavin and Stacy is her favorite British thing to watch. This side of midsummer murder, she's a midsummer murders addict. Yeah, but for me, it's probably black at her.
Starting point is 01:50:16 Hold on. Yeah, probably black at her. But I know I'm missing something. Hold on. You asked me, I suppose I could look this up and see if it's... Obviously, yeah. obviously my own i love downtown abbey i love downtown abbey i love downton abbey definitely peaky blinders fucking peeky blinders is amazing uh sherlock yes oh i love red dwarf love dairy girls
Starting point is 01:50:47 uh what else oh yes doctor who when it was good oh yeah luther fuck yeah all those you can put in the pile honestly uh some of the british favorite british stuff to watch slow horses on apple tv plus for sure sure. If you're not watching slow horses, you are messing that up. Fiona, also, I met you as a British fan, John. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Absolutely. I'm sure there's a bunch I'm leaving out that I watch on the regular. But, you know, you're catching me on the spot right now. Maybe that'd be a fun video to do on my channel, like great British TV films to watch, to become an anglophile. That could be a fun little
Starting point is 01:51:28 thing for sure. So yeah, that's a great, yeah, yeah. Fiona, thank you for that question. I appreciate that because not a lot of people know how much of an anglophile I am, and I loved being able to talk about it. So thank you. Matt Guillemott, 73, says, I'm assuming you watch The Passion of the Christ. Yes, I watched it four, three times. I think it impacted.
Starting point is 01:51:45 I own it in Blu-ray. I don't have the, I don't think it came out in 4K. Did it impact you have to watch it? But yes, it did. I cried through, I cried through three times of watching it. Yeah, like I said, the crucifixion is always, for whatever reason, I just have a very strong connection to crucifixion.
Starting point is 01:52:03 I cry at the end of Ben-Hur every time with the crucifixion. You know, I'm even thinking of going to see Jesus Christ Superstar. I've never seen it. But it is showing at the Angelica by my house because that also has to do with Jesus Christ and the crucifixion. So, yes, the crucifixion, those are the kinds of things. So Passion of Christ, it did. And I thought, and I didn't think it was what a lot of people called it, right?
Starting point is 01:52:31 like blood porn or whatever, torture porn. I don't think that at all. Because it's very clear how it's described in the Bible, what he physically had to endure to die for our sins. And listen, for those of you don't believe in that who respect it, I don't judge anyone for not being a Christian, not believing in Christ. We all have our own beliefs, who all have things we believe in. But for me, it's a very deep thing from my bones,
Starting point is 01:52:55 from when I was a kid, a child, a baby, to now, you know, this idea of Christ and God. So I think what he suffered, I appreciate the ballziness, the gutsiness of Mel to show it fully. Because the other depiction of the crucifixion have always been, in my opinion, tame to what you saw in the movie. And you have to see what he suffered through. You have to see. And I like that this is a film that shows you fully what he suffered through before he had to carry the cross and before he was nailed to the cross. and before he was nailed to the cross. And I think that's important
Starting point is 01:53:31 because you have to show the depth of what he was willing to endure to die for our sins if you believe in Christ and you believe in the story. And so I like that Mel didn't pull punches on that. And other people are like, oh, torture porn, whatever, but get out of here.
Starting point is 01:53:45 You don't know what you're talking about. Golpa says, putting Vanessa Kirby in brown context to be Haley in the Mask and Dead Reckoning was an awesome little Easter egg. Yeah, I find Vanessa's super compelling. Yeah, Vanessa Kirby's great. Yeah, she's a great, great actress. I agree with you, go pal.
Starting point is 01:53:56 and that was a fun little sequence as well. Legend M. 600 says, what do you think about us going around the moon? Other is great. Aren't we supposed, isn't there a live live broadcast of Artemis II going around the moon? I think it's supposed to be on Netflix tomorrow or Wednesday or today even, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:54:13 I saw something in passing on social media that they're going to do a live broadcast of them spinning around the moon, which reminds you of Armageddon as well. You know, it's going to be. So I'm 98% excited. excited 2% scared or 2% excited 90% scared. I don't know right now.
Starting point is 01:54:31 So, but yes, I think it's cool that we've gone to, are we going to land on the moon? Are we just going around the moon? Because I think we've got to land on the moon. To kill all those ridiculous ideas that it was a conspiracy theory about us never landing on the moon, we need to land on the moon again, for God's sakes, and really show it.
Starting point is 01:54:48 Show us landing on the moon. I think that's necessary. Global says never heard of anyone side with Hackman and Crimson Tide. Yeah, well, you should listen to. the episode. Steve was very much on Gene Hackman's side, which I was really surprised by, like, neither of this thing about our show. We never discuss our opinions on a movie
Starting point is 01:55:05 before we start doing the movie. So that everything is coming up in the process of recording the show. So yeah, it was a, I mean, it got it got hairy for the first episode or two. It got hairy between us over it. We had to have a separate conversation and
Starting point is 01:55:21 talk it out so that we could understand how to go forward and create space for each of our opinion. to have equal time and not judge, let's say like this is the only opinion that matters. Like I thought that was really important for us. It was a learning experience for our show. But I highly recommend you all listen to those episodes.
Starting point is 01:55:39 Not Faulty times. Yeah, I like Faulty, but I would rather run to Monty Python over Faulty. But I like Faulty. Did you know there was an American remake of Faulty? It came out, I think, in the 90s. Yeah, it was pretty bad. I think Steve Karel played the, the Spanish waiter, which, you know, Steve Krell's got a history of some uncomfortable shit that he's done in his past with brown face and other things.
Starting point is 01:56:04 So KJ 74-57s was, were you a fan of Dukes of Hazard? I loved the general league car. Had no idea the history of the flag as a kid, but I still love the show. Yes, I was a fan of Dukes of Hazard. Yeah, I grew up in Virginia in southern Virginia. I still didn't quite get the connection to the flag until I was older. So when I was a kid, I just thought it was a cool car. and I thought the flag was cool on there.
Starting point is 01:56:24 And so it wasn't until later, yeah, when I understood the context of the flag, I was like, but that being said, I loved the Dukes of Hazard. I thought it was great. And, you know, Boss Hogg and all them, Roscoe P. Coltrane, Enos, it was all good stuff.
Starting point is 01:56:42 And those episodes hold up. You know, it was my first experience in like, I think that in Threys Company were my first experiences in actors leaving shows over contract disputes. I was old enough to the point where I could get that in my head as a thing. Because I remember Tom Wolpat and John Schneider left the show. And they brought in these fake Luke and Duke cousins who were fucking terrible.
Starting point is 01:57:09 And their show, it was like replacement reps. They were like replacement reps in the NFL that happened a few years ago. They were so bad that it motivated them to settle the contract. and bring them back. That didn't happen in Threes Company because Suzanne Summers left over contract dispute. She felt she should get paid as much as Ritter, I think, or more. And she left.
Starting point is 01:57:31 And then they replaced her. And I think every woman they replaced her with was good. They weren't quite as good as Suzanne, but I thought they were good. But Jenny Lee Harrison and what's her face that was in Mallrats? Oh, I forget her name. But yeah, I thought they were good. So, yeah, yeah, I do remember loving the Duke of Pass.
Starting point is 01:57:50 And the song. I still have the song. That's a great Waylon Jennings song. I love it. And the full song. Like the theme song is great, but there's a full song. It's like a four-minute song.
Starting point is 01:57:58 It's great. Go about my seventh grade history teacher put us on to Faulty. Oh, nice. Nice. Respect. Artemis 3 is supposed to land on the moon. Okay.
Starting point is 01:58:07 All right. Artemis 2. Let's see if it lands on the moon. We'd love it. Go Palis says Laracette as Fault. Yes, I think that's what it was. John Laracette as Basil Faulty in the American remake. Good call there, brother.
Starting point is 01:58:19 All right. Well, that's all the question. unless we get two more to get to 60. We were at 58, so close enough, close enough. But let's wrap it up there as we're, it's 11 a.m., so I should probably get going with all these other things. So thank you all so much for hanging out with me today. Really appreciate it.
