Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello, everybody, and happy Tuesday. That means that it's going to be a moxie kind of morning. Christian is on leave. I don't actually know what I can and cannot say. He's got a lot of preparation for a lot of things going on. But we have a huge show today, and I'm glad I'm doing this alongside my fellow DC nerd Mike Kalanowski because we are talking these Batman delays.
Starting point is 00:00:22 The internet is losing its mind about Batman 2 being delayed. And we are also talking about that lanterns finale, which I did not realize was as divisive as it is. I can't wait to get Mikey's thoughts on that. And your guys are at home right here on the Christian Harlov show. Did you shit in there? Friends, welcome back to the show. It's going to be a very tech confusing one today.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Why are we five minutes late? Because who knows how these things really work? Also, why hasn't Mike Kalanowski said hello to me not once today, even though three times I said, hi, Mikey? I don't know. Let's ask them ourselves, introducing the one the only. Mike Klonowski. Hi, Mikey.
Starting point is 00:01:14 First of all, I don't hear you say hello. But second of all, you guys were dealing with tech stuff. So I just sat back and I was like, all right, I'm going to let them do their thing. I'm not going to get, throw my two cents in when there's stuff going on like that. Christian just runs this show differently now than I have. So for you guys like how the sausage is made. So I'll tell you about the sausage. But really, I'm not a sausage maker.
Starting point is 00:01:40 And so that is where there is. This isn't aligned. Christian runs a show differently now than the last time I took over. So where I do everything in media assets, he does everything in scenes. And PLD knows the scenes and Luke designed the scenes. And I was unaware of the scenes. You guys are like, what are you talking about? Don't worry.
Starting point is 00:01:59 We'll talk about Batman. Just letting you know why we are a couple minutes late. I think I got a message that Christian is prepping for the Thursday show that makes me think that there's a big show on Thursday. No idea. Do you know what's going on? It says comedy show. It's a big comedy show. Oh, with Jen and Mark. There you go.
Starting point is 00:02:20 I thought they meant for this show on Thursday. I was like, wow, that's a lot of prep for the show that he does daily. I didn't know if he was doing another marathon stream or something. Oh, that's exciting. I wish I was in New York City for that. But I am not, alas. Mike, what's going on? Well, you know the big takeaway that I have from that, did you shouldn't hear a clip?
Starting point is 00:02:40 I look at that. wearing like a long-sleeve shirt and a jacket. I miss those days because I'm sweating my balls off. And this 100 in whatever heat wave we are in right now, I've been in nearly 15 years. This is the hottest August and September it's ever been. This sucks. This is certainly October, Mike.
Starting point is 00:02:59 It sucks. And then we're going to be 70 on the weekend. So we always kind of get this one week in October. Not this long for this hot. This is ridiculous. I have a rash all over my body. All right. Well, that's from the heat.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Yeah, it's relevant. Like, I don't know if you can see, but my chest, I have a heat rash everywhere. Because it is, it's not normal. Yeah, it's really, really hot. You said, all right. All right. I thought we were in sharing time of the show. Is this not the sharing portion of the show?
Starting point is 00:03:35 Hey, sharing is caring. Did you see that last week on the show when you were? I was here last week. I know. I missed it. But did you see on the show that Christian hit his 200,000? Yeah. Yeah, I got thoughts on that. I'll talk at the end of the campaign about it, but we got thoughts. Okay. Okay. Here's the thing. I never once doubted he was ever going to hit it. Never doubt. I know you didn't. Yeah. I never. And that's kind of, I think, why maybe I was maybe not as vocal about it because I just knew he would.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I knew the community that he's built over the years. And again, I part of the Shmowdown community, you know, and that group is one of the most generous groups of people I've ever met and been proud to be a part of of my life of the Shmodown community. But yeah, I was kind of following. Yeah. But I knew when I read it, the script, how good it was. So I was never in doubt of anything. But, excuse me, I was out of town for the whole week of that whole campaign from the day we did our show. I think the next day, till the day after he broke it, I was out of town.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So I just, and I needed to kind of get off social media and whatnot. So, yeah. How was your good? It was good. It was wonderful. Texas. You were all social media for a week? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:04:55 I mean, I would check it every now and then. I also try and stay up because I wasn't sure if I was going to see the lanterns episode that aired last Sunday. But, yeah, it was my best friend's 50th birthday, but also he was just, he got promoted to captain at his air. airline. So it was like a joint. And my family went. My family hadn't seen his family in probably 20 years. And it's like 100 people there. It's crazy. Oh, wow. Damn. Yeah. I just found out that when you turn 65, you can't fly a plane.
Starting point is 00:05:24 No, man to retirement. They were thinking. Well, because they get pension. They get, I think, I believe you get healthy for life. You start degrading your skills, start going down. You're cognitive. Are we even 80 year old president? Mike. Roxy, you know we're not allowed to get on that topic when Harloff's not here. We got a president that tells the people
Starting point is 00:05:48 that I ranch a bomb Los Angeles and San Diego. Hmm. I saw, and I'm not allowed to talk about it yet, but I saw Social Reckoning last night. Oh, yeah? And that movie has thoughts. That movie has, I did not,
Starting point is 00:06:04 yeah, that movie has thoughts. I did see Digger? Yeah. That's got thoughts too, doesn't it? I haven't seen yet? Oh, not yet. I'm so curious if you're going to like Digger. I did like Digger.
Starting point is 00:06:15 It has a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes or 52 at this point maybe. Yeah. Yeah. What do I know? It's because it's Cruz, so that's my guy. But also, on the other side, these type of movies are not my thing. What type of movie do you think Digger is? In the vein of like a birdman, like those kind of existential.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Like art team? Artie movies? artsy but existential you know nothing in the trailer made me go nuts except for Tom Cruise playing this character you know I'm not a Wes Anderson guy
Starting point is 00:06:54 and I know this is doesn't not in that vein but like Wes Anderson are not my type of films but I'm seeing it because it's Tom Cruise so I wouldn't say I did see I did see Heart of the Beast so my fucking God
Starting point is 00:07:09 Not at all what I thought was going to happen And destroyed me Yeah Yeah you love dogs Oh God Yeah that movie shocked me Those are the last three movies I saw Heart of the Beast Digger
Starting point is 00:07:21 And Social Reckoning And they are all three so different from each other But really good And it is making me kind of think that October season is different than it used to be And then Primetime I didn't see that
Starting point is 00:07:35 And I didn't see it either But that's out Like this is a really good like nice mix of movies out right now. It's kind of strange because usually my entire October and I know there's that whale fall and there's there's some big horror movies that are coming down the pipeline. But usually I don't think of October as Oscar bait and I don't think of it as anything other than horror movies.
Starting point is 00:07:56 And this season, it feels like some big heavy hitters, big contenders for Oscar season are coming out in October. I know. It's a good time for the movies. Yeah, Shannon was, she was. was going to cancel her A list because she didn't really use it too much. But then I kind of listed all the movies we're going to want on the sea of the next couple months.
Starting point is 00:08:15 She's like, all right, maybe I'll hold it to the end of the year. So, yeah. What's the deal with that? She can take you or she can't take you? No, no, no. She just for her. Oh, you don't, you wouldn't have one, would you? Because you get it for free.
Starting point is 00:08:27 It's, you get four movies a week. And it's like, I think it's $29 now a month. But it's like, so four movies a week every week. So it's like. And does she two movies? She just was not seeing enough for them to justify the cost. She'd see like one movie every two months. So it's just like, why am I paying this?
Starting point is 00:08:48 You've got to see at least like two movies a month to make it. Or one an IMAX, you know, one super IMAX, you know, to make up for it. And she just wasn't doing that, you know. So. But I would. But for me, for me like, you know, I'd saw P-Man five times. So that's not the name of the movie. I know.
Starting point is 00:09:07 but I just call it that. You call it He-Man? He-Man, Master of the Universe. I call the movie Tequila. Okay, call it whatever you want. Would you have known what I was talking about? If you call it Teela, I would. If I called it Teela Tequila?
Starting point is 00:09:21 No. All right. We have done this stuff to actually talk about. But before we do that, I want to say that you guys know we are a fan-funded platform. We appreciate the support coming through. And we always try to kick the ass of John Roka, who comes before us and set a high bar for the rest of the week. So if you guys want to send in super chats, we would love to read them.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Last week I came in second. I seem to be a second place gal recently, but now that I'm teamed up with Mikey, I feel like we are coming for that number one spot. I have the hardest about at 11 o'clock today, which means that we will get to the questions early to make sure we have time for all of them. So send them in on the earlier side so that you don't miss out. Oh, my God, this rash is so fucking itchy, Mikey. Throw some gold bond on that thing.
Starting point is 00:10:10 That's good. That's a good. You don't like gold bond? I don't think that that's for rat, rat, heat rash. It's medicated. It's medicated powder. For heat rash? I think it's for all rashes.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Throw it on there. That's what people put in their shoes, right? And on their balls? I put it on my balls. Like when I'm like on a hot day like today, keeps it nice and fresh. Keeps me nice and clean. I don't know because I was putting, so I started a couple days ago because when I was out camping. and then I like right when I came back
Starting point is 00:10:38 and then I started putting moisturizer on my chest and that made it work. Yeah that's bad. You're putting liquid on you got to dry it out. Get some gold bond. Medicated gold. But it feels so dry and itchy. Well, you got to put the fucking gold bond on it. But won't that make it drier?
Starting point is 00:10:54 This is what the people came for and you guys are welcome. This show is sponsored by Gold Bond. Oh, I didn't even check. I've never had a heat rash but Gold Bond seems Gold Bond's kind of like Windex for Greek people. We have a cure-all.
Starting point is 00:11:09 It's like Windex for Greek people? Ask a Greek person about Windex. What the fuck? I know this because I dated a Greek girl, but that was the whole one of big jokes in my big fat Greek wedding. Windex. I don't remember that. Anyone in the chat?
Starting point is 00:11:28 You guys know what I'm talking about, right? Anyone Greek? It's kind of like, it's an old wives, superstitious. you know, it's kind of like when Latin people, it's always the Vicks vapor rub. That's their like go-to. Wow. I say that because I dated a lot of Latin women too.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Mike, can you say anything you want if you've dated somebody who? Yes, because you're part of it. You lived it. You're there. Yes. What other people you dated, Mike? Latin's, Greek. A lot of white girls. Okay, what's the thing about white girls?
Starting point is 00:12:05 They don't know how to see a their food properly. Okay. I don't know. I don't know. I think these are all very mysterious types. Let's see. Us Mexicans use Windex for everything.
Starting point is 00:12:13 No, it's, Windex is for the Greek people with the Windex. Latin people with Vic's vapor rub. Like the Latin women, the grandmas, the abolitas,
Starting point is 00:12:22 always like, put the vapor up, put the vapor up. What is your favorite stereotype? Send it in the super chat. We'll see how that goes. Really good. Christian's going to come back and there will be no show to come back too.
Starting point is 00:12:34 This was a whole big joke in that movie, my Greek factory wedding. I love that movie, but I've not seen... You remember the Windex thing? I haven't seen in like 10 years. Okay. Maybe longer. When did that movie come out?
Starting point is 00:12:46 There I see in the chat. Biparub and a Sprite. Well, you know why, Roxy? Because I'm racist. That's why. Wearing a hoodie. A hoodie during the show. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:12:58 I know I wanted to put on a t-shirt today, but if I couldn't, because my fucking chest. If I could, I'd do the show shirt. right now if I could. Do you want to know something that I was thinking about the other day? Sure. And then we will get. And then we will get to D.C. stuff. Do you remember, I don't know if you were, I don't think you were on the show with me back then. It was me, Christian and Brett at Christians at the studio at his place. And what did you said? I like that studio we had. Yeah, me too. I loved that studio, especially because it was right next to where I live. So that was super convenient for me.
Starting point is 00:13:33 and I actually had a camera that you could see my face and I didn't look at the potato. So when we did that show, I don't remember what the episode was, but it was early on right when I came over from Collider after I was fired and laid off. And everybody always wanted to say fire. You weren't fired. You were laid off. I was like, well, neither of those things pay your bills. That's the same thing. Well, I guess fired is when the position still exists and they hire somebody else.
Starting point is 00:14:06 They fire you. You were laid off. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, laid off. And when I started at Christian's place, I came in and I guess I was wearing like a shirt like this or something like V-neck, whatever it was, there was this woman. I still remember her name.
Starting point is 00:14:26 And she wrote like the fucking meanest thing about me. me in the comments that was like she was it working at collider no no no no nothing to do with collider this is just right after that like i'd never gotten one comment like that over there was a very male dominated oh i see what you're saying christian show there was a woman there who wrote like essentially like what a big slut i was for wearing a low-cut shirt and like why was i sitting with too married met trying to show off my breasts and like she she like went town on me And I said something on air, like the next week. And I was like, I think it's very weird to slut shame women at this day and age.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Like, you should know better. And she was like maybe a 50, like, maybe 60 year old woman. And I was like, I was like, I am, this time I was probably 30 years old. I was like, I'm a 30 year old woman who is in a hot ass studio who is wearing a normal ass tank top. And I happen to have large breasts. So like maybe just maybe don't fucking do what you're doing. I have never gotten the type of apology message that I got in my life that I got from that one. To this day, I remember who she is because I was like, oh, this is why it matters to hold a mirror up to people sometimes.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Because she was like, that was so fucked up of me. I was having a bad day. I am feeling my age. I do, blah, blah, I am so sorry. Wow. I will always be in your corner from here on out. It was like the sweetest response I've ever seen. I mean, I love it.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Yeah. Like, I love accountability like that. That's great. Me too. People had our bad day. You did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:07 We've had, I've had my bad days on social media and, you know. Yeah. It was, it was nice. I was like, wow, that's cool that you,
Starting point is 00:16:15 that I called you out and you said, my bad. It's so rare. But anyway, all right. So, Mikey, speaking of people saying mean things on the internet.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Yeah, here we go. Where do we want to, where do we want to start, squad? Do we want to, start with people saying mean things about the Batman part two being stalled or do we want to
Starting point is 00:16:35 start with people saying mean things about the lanterns finale? I was going to say the segue would be for the Batman. Because when all, because the lanterns thing is your opinion. The Batman thing is not an opinion. People are just being a-hole because of... They're a-holes. Holy Jesus.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Do you get the movie quote or no? That's because your opinion, man? No. Dude. Dude. Say it again? It's probably one of those like pot smoking movies, isn't it? Is it?
Starting point is 00:17:11 Is it? It's not. It's not. One of those pot smoking movies, but it's not not a pot smoking movie. I don't know. Dude, dude, where's my car? Would you call Big Lebowski a pot smoking movie? Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Okay. So then it is. The guys hide the entire movie. Yeah, but it's not like, it's not like Harold and Kumar, which I love. Yeah, yeah, it's in that same vein. You think the Big Lebowski is in the same vein as Harold and Kumar? There are those films that people just love to quote because they are of that, like, community is like, oh, man, you got the pot smoking, man.
Starting point is 00:17:51 The pot smoking community. My community. Yeah, that whole group. My people. Who are you calling that community? You're people, the pot smoking people. Thank you. You mean the kind ones?
Starting point is 00:18:06 A stoner movie. They're like a stoner movie. You want to have gone back to the earth who are trying to do no harm and just relax? And walk around smelling like shit, not care what other people think about them. That's who they are. And I don't mean their body odor. I mean marijuana. That shit stinks.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I don't care if you love it if it takes you to cloud nine every day. It relaxes your muscles. It makes your angina. go away. It stinks. It makes your one go away. Angina. Your mangina? Your angina. What's an angina? It's like an Italian. It's like the angina.
Starting point is 00:18:42 It's like a heartburn. It's actual medical term for like heart pain. Oh, yeah. It actually is. I'm smart, Roxy. I know these things. But like, yeah, stoner stuff. It stinks. It stinks. Mike, have you ever smelled me, smell like weed? Do you take gummies and shit?
Starting point is 00:19:04 No. You don't, I don't see you smoke in front of rocks. Yeah, I never, that's true because I can't smoke and drive because I'm one of those. You've never smoked in front of me. I've never, I've never come to you rocks and go, fuck you smoked out,
Starting point is 00:19:13 didn't you? But I, like, if I'm in my, like, we got a neighbor somewhere down the lane that smokes, like, and you just,
Starting point is 00:19:19 that waft of shit smell hits you. You're just like, fucking hell, man. You like it less than cigarette smoke? It's one, what is it, six half of a dozen,
Starting point is 00:19:29 one half of a dozen, one half of a dozen. dozen another they're they're six of one half a dozen of the other yeah whatever that means it's like they're the same thing it's just like it's what do you like more diarrhea or vomit it's like okay i'm not really picking one uh okay well on that note yeah i'm judging people is i judge i judge i judge all right well let's talk about batman um great transition so you're talking about this thank you to our friend Gman over at Dark Horizons. But everybody, of course, is reporting on the Batman 2 production hitting pause.
Starting point is 00:20:05 This is with Gman, I'd say, filming on DC Studios and Warner Brothers Pictures, The Batman Part 2 has been put on hold. Filmmaker Matt Reeves reportedly has to deal with a personal matter, which has led to the production freeze. In a statement, a DC studio spokesperson says, quote, production on the Batman Part 2 has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios.
Starting point is 00:20:28 and we look forward to continuing the journey soon, end quote. Filming on Batman 2 began in June after a very long development process, saw its start date pushed multiple times. Reeves and co-writer, Matton Tomlin, wrote the script. For now, the film is sticking with the February 18th, 2028 release date, no word on how long the potential delay could be. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Scarjo, Sebastian Stan, Carlin Fero, you guys know the cast.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Okay, so that's pretty much all we know about this. What we know is that it has been delayed. Production has been delayed. We don't know to the extent that the actual movie, the release will be delayed. And we know that, PLD, will you flip us? And we know that. I want to be Roxy. Let me tell you, I don't think you do. Yeah. Life has been unfunfunked. I'll be sitting there every day going, Yes, that is what I do all day. That's me all day. I can't describe.
Starting point is 00:21:35 You could be like, a titty shake from the ladies. I feel good about yourself right now. Look at these knockers. Are you laughing at yourself? I am. I'm the sound bike king. You got to love yourself.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Rox. If you can't laugh at yourself. But that. I'm the sound by king. I'm a sound by king. I'm the sound bite queen. Actually, I'm really not. No, you're not.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Like an elephant trunk. I don't. Why was it like an elephant trunk? You can use your imagination, Roxy. All right, good, good. what I was going to say is you don't want to be me because I cannot express how shit things have been for your girl in a lot of ways recently, which is why I want to say that going into this conversation where when somebody out loud is vulnerable enough to say like I have to step back
Starting point is 00:22:52 from this project right now, it has to be on pause because I have to deal with something personal. It is not His obligation Or our right to know what that is He's just saying Pause for one second We have no fucking idea what's going on with this man And in his life
Starting point is 00:23:13 So to watch the internet be like How dare you? Fire and Brimstone Like we want the movie And we want it now Get back to work It's already been multiple years nothing could matter more than this.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Hire somebody else. Throw him out. I'm like, I fucking hated here. I fucking hated here. Go ahead. I, yeah, no, I have nothing to add different to, like, this is like, I think also he had, there were issues before they got started.
Starting point is 00:23:48 There was a family thing where they paused it. Clearly, it's a medical thing, most likely, something in this family. This is going to be, this is going to be a chat. I don't mean maybe with him, maybe family member where everyone's going to then like, oh, oh, we, we were assholes and we shouldn't have been.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Like, why does it matter? Like, let him live as fixed. That's so much more important than a movie. If this movie gets canceled at this point, oh well, like, hey, this happened. We've decided to stop the movie because of X, Y, and Z happening.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Oh, well, that's life. No way. It doesn't matter. But to see the comments on some these like Hollywood reporter that are listening. Like they're just truly are terrible people in this world. They're just are. And there's nothing we can do. Nothing we can do.
Starting point is 00:24:37 But they're just are miserable, terrible human beings out there that show it. Yeah. So like. I am seeing some some great people to be like, take your time. Sure. Yeah. You know, deal. But like that should kind of be a given.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Like nobody should be getting. The bare minimum. Yeah. The bare fucking minimum. Like nobody should be getting. in credit right now for being kind. It is so weird how much, like, I am seeing some people be like, we hope everything's okay. And then they're like, I said, I hope everything's okay.
Starting point is 00:25:08 And it's like, okay. Like, what do we want brownie points for in life anymore? For just being like halfway decent. Do, am I a good person? Because I think when somebody says they're dealing with a family matter, we should let them fucking deal with it. No. No. That doesn't make me, that just makes me not a piece of shit. It doesn't make me good. Like, it just should be the bare, bare minimum for us when somebody says it out loud. And, you know, before, when it was delayed before again, I was like, oh, wow,
Starting point is 00:25:43 I do wonder if production is having major issues. I feel grateful that they let us know that's actually not why this is going on pause this time. Like, they did give us some insight. You know, it's interesting. I was thinking about what you just kind of how all you were saying. Like, what if, and I, I would think a studio would rather it be this way than just like, you know what, hey guys, we're going to stop filming on our own. We're not telling anyone, but the leaks would get out and people would say, oh, I hear Batman stopped and they're not filming right now because so-and-so got something. Like, I bet a studio would rather just like, hey, we can take a month off and stop right now, but it would get out. So they got ahead of it. But I'm sure, you know, it's
Starting point is 00:26:23 none of our business. It's, it's, I mean, we're not, we're not owed anything. We're not, we're not owed anything. We're not owed an answer. We're not owed a reason. We are not this man's friend. We do not know him. Yeah. I mean, that's a problem with social media. We all think we are because everything is so out there that we're invested in these things. And like, we're not owed anything. And I think whatever he's dealing with clearly is huge because this is the second time that this production has been affected by a personal something. And it could be anything. It could be. And when you say huge, huge to him. Like we don't know what.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Right. Him and his family. Him and his family. It is huge. I have seen a lot of speculation online about what is people guessing. Such a weird thing to do. Yeah. I mean, it's a weird thing, but it is a human nature.
Starting point is 00:27:13 Human nature. Yes. Thank you for that. It is 100% human nature. You're trying to like, well, he's been on set and he seems very healthy. So maybe it's not him. And but again, it's all speculation. I get internally thinking, I wonder if he's okay.
Starting point is 00:27:29 I wonder. But to go online. Right. And to say, here are five things I think it could be. Yeah. Holy shit. Like we're just, we've gotten to be, we're so weird as a society. We're so strange at this point that it is, it's very, it's very odd.
Starting point is 00:27:49 And I know we're curious. I'm a curious person too. But at the end of the day. day, we have to respect people's boundaries and he's already stepping outside his comfort zone clearly by telling us something is wrong. I need a minute. So let's fucking give him that time. And I think it's okay to period that.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I think it's okay to still want to see the Batman too. It's still okay to say when and if he comes back, I would be really excited about this. But like who gives a shit? The point of art is to bring us closer together, right? So how are we going to let art separate us? It's the opposite of its goal. It's, yeah. Yeah, I don't have a lot to say.
Starting point is 00:28:31 And I just, I saw the, I mean, I'm, you are, too, but like, I'm online a lot. You see people that are out there, so it doesn't surprise me. Man. The reaction from certain, like, and then the whole like, Jesus Christ, we're never going to get to DCU Batman because they're waiting on that Batman. When that gets delayed, it's like, shock. Holy fuck. Look at your life. go look at yourself in the mirror and say that's what's important to you.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Like, one biggest Batman guy in the world. If they decide, hey, something happened, we can no longer continue this movie because the creatives behind it are not in a place to do so. We are shelving this movie and it's not going to come out.
Starting point is 00:29:08 I'd be like, okay. Hopefully that situation is okay. Yeah. I never saw the Batman 2. Oh, well. It's not one of those situations where it's like the studio has stepped in in and been like,
Starting point is 00:29:20 we don't want you guys to see this movie. movie we're going to use a tax return whatever. Like if the creator can't create something, they can't. So, you know, speaking on the curiosity part of this, I'm sure not today, but in months to come, this will impact things in the D.C. And we will see kind of what our timelines are, which as I do think that they have been circling announcing our Batman, who I do not think is Robert Pattinson. Could this impact that?
Starting point is 00:29:51 It's possible. But Panson recently come out and say he doesn't think it's a good idea. I think that was something within the past couple weeks. He was like, no, we're not, I don't want to do that. Yeah. Yeah. I think. I think, and again, there is a studio to run on that side.
Starting point is 00:30:09 And especially now with things in place where it just was announced today, you know, Gun and Safran, like they're on the ledger of Skydance's board of directors. Like it has officially announced what their positions are. Like, what was it? Mikey, I missed that. What happened? Skydance, if you see the last night or this morning put out their press release of just,
Starting point is 00:30:29 you know, it's like their pictures with their bios. And he is CEO of Skydance DC Studios. Who is? Gone and Safran. They are listed as the heads of DC Studios under Skydance. You're not saying Reeves is listed. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:30:45 So they have decisions they make. I'm sure Ellison knows that Batman is a big. the Batman character, not the Batman movie. And I think at this point, I think Gunn has probably been very trying to thread that needle, but I think they need to push forward with Batman in Wonder Woman and let us know that the Reeve stuff is the Reeves stuff. And it's taken this long,
Starting point is 00:31:05 and if it takes another year, then it will take another year. And that is a separate film from this current continuity. So it's okay, you know? Yeah. I think the audience is smart enough to handle two different Batman in two different ways. I think they are. It's hard, Mikey, to, I mean, like, if you're watching this show, we're preaching to the choir and you're usually not part of the problem.
Starting point is 00:31:27 But it's difficult to have this conversation and then have me hear you say the audience is smart enough to handle. This is the same audience who's attacking Matt Reed. Okay, now here's just, I have to, I guess I should preface the saying general audiences. Twitter is a film bubble that we know that is a, like, we'll get into it, the last. lanterns discourse. Twitter bubble, because we are in it and myself deep in it, we step outside. So when I go to Texas to visit my friend that's not on social media, that's to me as the general audience. Like they are, you know, so it's, you know, it's interesting. I think, yeah. I'm excited to talk about social reckoning at some point because, again, I can't divulge.
Starting point is 00:32:18 but it's based on a true story that everybody knows about Facebook. So and people who watch the trial know about the trial. But it is extremely interesting in that movie. And if you watch Social Dilemma or if you know anything about social media algorithms, what they are able to do and how they are able to push people towards certain things, like how they can change their algorithms to get people. who are borderline feeling certain ways to be extremists for all different things. And as you're talking about Twitter and people with this,
Starting point is 00:32:58 I do think the more people that are that you surround yourself with that are so heavy on social media, these like these social media friendships. And you see somebody who says like, fuck this Matt Reeves, give us this movie net, whatever. And then you reshare that. And then it like shows you all things like. that and all of this that starts to happen. There's the bubbles within these bubbles and people start to think that that's real
Starting point is 00:33:25 life, even though we know Twitter is not real life. Twitter is a place. It's not real life. So I don't know. Yes, I think general audiences are smart caveat. I think specific fandoms can be so toxic and now online has been brought to real life. And just seeing people's reaction to this makes me wonder what people can and cannot handle. I don't know, Rox, because I can,
Starting point is 00:33:51 let's segue into lantern, shall we? Okay. Well, before we do that, before we segue into lanterns, I want to tell you guys about the reason that we're able to be here and actually segue into shows like lanterns, and that's because of our amazing sponsors like Factor and Rouguet. And PLD is going to share with you a little bit about them, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:12 They're going to get soft, and I'm going to get harder. Ruggia ads hit different when you're eating a banana. You're muted, Mike, but I am curiously. What did Roka say? They're going to get soft. And I'm going to get harder. What do you think he's talking about? Oh, I'm going to assume that the Shmowdown like a promo.
Starting point is 00:34:42 But I think he- I'm going to kill a Kalanowski. We've watched this for a long time. Big fan and friend of Christian Harloffs. And I've watched all the matches. I want to get involved. I got some knowledge with movies. Most of you guys might know me from DC movie news, but you got surprised. I don't know just
Starting point is 00:34:56 DC, I know Marvel, I know films. I've been watching them. My whole life is what I do for a living. I want to get my head, throw my hat in the ring, and see what they got for me up. Jesus. The old turtleneck promo days. I think that he's the one who isn't coming back, though.
Starting point is 00:35:13 I didn't actually go. Yeah. I'm going to do it like this. Oh! Oh, gham, gham, gham. It's so good about being co-hosts with you. What's that?
Starting point is 00:35:31 Let me tell you. There's several things I love about being co-host with you. One of them is, no matter what I do in a stream, that I'm like, uh-oh, you always are going to want up me in the best way. Like, not a compliment. That's not a compliment. But for me, it's great. Like I could be eating a banana and be like, fuck, that's not good.
Starting point is 00:35:52 But then you're over here, oh, and it's like, fuck yeah. Like no one gives a shit that I'm eating a banana when you are sucking a dick. Cock? The thing with me, and I've realized as an actor, when I was younger, I would be so cognizant of like not, I've learned to just go all in and not worry about how I look. That's the thing about you, Mike. He is perfect and this and did my angle look right? And he's nuts. It's like, as an actor, I just, I'm like, throw it all out there.
Starting point is 00:36:25 And I'm not afraid to, I'm not afraid to make myself look bad or embarrass myself. So I'm, I hope that translates into my additions that I just, just go. So. But the other thing, okay, this is the other part that I love about being your co-host is, you're not afraid about how you're going to look. But also, you never try to make me look bad. Why would I do that? Because a lot of people do.
Starting point is 00:36:51 And you don't. So let's say you're hosting a show. You think people, there are people that will try and make the people that are on a show with look bad and. Yes, all the time. To make themselves look better, that is one tactic that a lot of people,
Starting point is 00:37:06 a lot of hosts use is trying to make somebody else look stupid or bad to make themselves look smart. No, we're on the same show. I know. It's not you. In the same fucking show. It doesn't. You've never experienced that.
Starting point is 00:37:18 I'm sure. I've always, I guess on the good thing, I've always had great podcast hosts. You know, I've always had. Yeah, Christian's good people for this show. Yeah. And back in the after buzz days. Yeah. Any show I was ever on? A lot of times on those shows, I was always brought on.
Starting point is 00:37:34 It was another show because of knowledge of something. Yeah. Yeah. So it was never, I wasn't, hey, here's two people hosting a show together that don't know each other and make this work. And you're just like, oh, fuck. I won't say who it is, but there is all. I bet there are. In this sphere, there is one person that I, like, really won't co-host with because I think.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Oh, you'll tell me after the show. Yeah, of course I will. You will tell me after the show. I want to know. It felt like their goal was to, like, gotcha me. And I was just like, this is crazy. This is not fun. There's one person that's been in our sphere before that I cannot stand.
Starting point is 00:38:11 I've never been with this person on a show, but I'm. I can't say more than this right now because it would give it away. I'm so sure what you're talking about. Can't fucking. And for a hundred super chats, we will not reveal it. Not at all. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Absolutely not. Okay. So anyway, we were. Lanterns. That's one of those things that Mark Ellis always talked to me about when he can always spot as early on stand-up comedian by the way that they transition. Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:38:45 And they'll say things like this Anyway All of a sudden They'll just like attempt to transition It's like Don't do that Just say your next thing Don't yeah
Starting point is 00:38:55 Don't do it Anyway about that Not a way about that You're wearing So um Anyway I had my nuts out How about that
Starting point is 00:39:05 How about that? Yeah How about that? People like I see hold on I see the chat people talk at Rooka It is absolutely not Roca. Roca is one of the best. Best to co-host with.
Starting point is 00:39:18 I love. Even all the shit that him and I talk to each other, you would think if when we're on together, we would get heated. It's not. It is incredibly. He is very complimentary to the people he has on his shows. Do you know why Roca and I are friends? Because we started hosting.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Is there one specific reason? Because we started hosting together. Roca and I, prior to hosting together, there was what was your first thing hosting together and Collider? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:48 I think I had him on TV fights a couple of times too. Oh, back in that pre those days. He was fighting and I was hosting but we just like it wasn't like but there was just, there was nothing and then we started
Starting point is 00:40:03 he started coming on Collider live. You're two alpha personalities. We definitely do. And then he started and there was like something that happened that him and I addressed and wasn't a big deal. But then he started coming on Clyde Alive. And I was like, oh, this is one of my favorite people to host with.
Starting point is 00:40:17 He's super generous. He's super smart. He's got really hot opinionated takes. He's not afraid to share them. But then he also wants to hear yours. I love hosting with Roka. Like, I can't speak highly enough about how talented I think he is on the mic. He's so, so good.
Starting point is 00:40:35 So it's definitely not him. I am curious who yours is, though. Is yours a man or a woman? Nope, not saying it. Is it a, what's the name, of the disease and an angina no it's just uh if this person walks in i'm like this is my reaction if this person walks in like oh fuck are you kidding me
Starting point is 00:40:54 and then it's one of these it's one of these a fucking course they got the gig i don't feel that way about the person that i'm talking about i'm talking about i don't mind if they walk into a room they're lovely in a room it's only them on the mic that i'm like oh fuck me no i i'm like if they actively walk in the room i'm like oh fucking christ I don't know why, but how. And I've never worked with this person directly, directly. Never. I've just seen, I've seen the way that they treat other people.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I've seen the conniving behind the scenes to get certain gigs. I know all that. So I'm just like, I don't like you. I am so. Oh. Oh, you're going to know who it is 100%. Because I think you've seen it firsthand happen. I think I know who you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Huh. I bet you do. I know you know. I know you know who it is. I know you are, but what am I? Lanterns. Anyway, anyway, anyway, let's talk lanterns. So, Mikey, you said you were behind a week when you were gone. No. I'm assuming you've now seen the finale. No, no, no. I was out of town and I was staying at my best friend's house. So, you know, it was a big, a lot of family. And I didn't know if I'd get a chance to sit down and watch it until I got back for my trip. But it turned out the night that it came out Sunday, a lot of his family members were leaving the next morning like at three in the morning so they all went to bed super early so I had the house to myself and I watched it so I'm all caught up
Starting point is 00:42:22 I caught the last week and I caught the finale I'm cut. So this, I don't think we can do this conversation without spoilers. So this is a spoilers lander. Yeah, spoilers, spoilers, spoilers. That's my spoiler noise. See, normally people would be like,
Starting point is 00:42:40 that I look stupid doing that. I don't have a shit. No, so my question isn't, did you look stupid? But what did this part do? It helps. It modulates my voice. I don't think, ah, ah, ah, it doesn't get the same effect. I got to add to it.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Oh, and I think, spoiler alert, like, whar, right? This one. This is another one. Do you want to know what I use? Go like this, make a really tight hole with your pinky out, and then say, girl. Goy, doy, doy, doy, go. That's a good one, right? It just doesn't sound like girl.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Doy, goy, goy, doy, doy, doy. This is a shit that I used to do where I didn't have friends. Okay. And now I do have friends. And you're still doing it. I don't want to do it with me at all. Okay, so. Well, then I fucking hurt myself.
Starting point is 00:43:46 I hurt my neck. Spoilers on lanterns. If you have not seen the finale of lanterns and you plan on watching it and you don't want it to be spoiled for you, GTFO. And come back when the spoiler banner goes down. What the fuck out of here? Oh my God. They said I have one good impression. I don't know what it's an impression of.
Starting point is 00:44:06 But it is. And I did the witch earlier, too. I'm so cool. So lanterns finale, lanterns ended. I was in my own little bubble. I watched the show by myself. And I quickly went on my Instagram,
Starting point is 00:44:22 took a picture of my face being like very excited. It was like, holy shit. That lantern's finale was so good. And then I left my phone and went about my day. I know exactly what's going to happen. I know exactly what's going to happen. I came back because I didn't even realize the discourse around i came back and every are you fucking stupid like people had taken that
Starting point is 00:44:49 started tweeting at me like all over the place and i was like oh people didn't like this finale i i it didn't even cross my mind that people wouldn't have liked the finale because i thought it was such a great episode of television and was so innovative and cool and i was really excited for where we ended with john and i was excited that they didn't backtrack on hal stuff it just really worked for me and i can get into why. How did you feel about the finale? You and I have not spoken. I,
Starting point is 00:45:16 I've loved this show. There's no, there's no hiding that. Like, and I knew, maybe this is why these people are upset. I knew there was not going to be some big battle. They never pinned it like it was leading to some giant,
Starting point is 00:45:30 all-out, drag-out, CGI battle. It wasn't going to happen. I wanted to see the resolution. Knowing that Carrie shot him, I had no idea. That shocked. I felt bad for Shannon,
Starting point is 00:45:40 because when I watch the show, she's in bed. And usually one or two times in the episode, I'll either laugh out loud or go, oh, fuck. Like that, I had no idea that happened. And did you see them talk about it afterwards? Did you see them? They discussed that afterwards and they said,
Starting point is 00:45:56 so much props to her, I don't remember the actress's name, but so much credit, the creators were saying so much credit. I think Mundy is the one who specifically said this, because there's only six people. It could physically be. and not one time do you think it's her.
Starting point is 00:46:12 And I did it. I did not one, not for one second. And usually I'm like a prediction queen. I'm throwing things out there. When we find out it was her, I was like, and especially after the week before,
Starting point is 00:46:25 when Hal's like, it's her, she killed me. And I'm like, no, no. It's like, I find what I,
Starting point is 00:46:34 like, again, if you are this far into the show, and again, props to you if you hate the show and you spent eight weeks watching it. I don't understand that. Is that actual props? Yes, because number one, your viewership counts.
Starting point is 00:46:50 And number two, okay, Rocks, let me say this real quick. In general, in life. If something you don't like, now, again, you have a job. If you're a reporter, it's a job and you have to do it. But if you're just a person that watches stuff and you tune in every week to something you hate, like look at yourself in the mirror and go what's going on in my life like i don't like west anderson movies i think they're pretentious i don't get them i tried a couple of them early on
Starting point is 00:47:19 when a new one comes out i don't pay my money to go see it and then come online and bitch about it for eight hours and when the trailer drops i don't make fun of it because i'm like they're just not for me at this point i think people should know if the dc u is for them or not it's given us a lot of different tastes of different types and what they're going to do. So don't just watch it. But I'm glad they do watch it because it gets the viewership up to like incredible numbers. So cool. But have you seen, and I don't know if this is true, tell me in the chat and Mike,
Starting point is 00:47:49 I'm asking you, were some people happy with seven episodes of the show and not happy with the eighth? Like, were there a lot of people who love the show until the finale? But I did see a lot of talk people were. No, that's a real question. You're online more. Did that happen? Like, were some people really on board until the video?
Starting point is 00:48:09 I think, like what people, like I was just to say, I think a lot of people were expecting a traditional finale that's like the big fight or the big this. But I'm like, if you watch the show, the big fight was in episode five. And that's when the show shifted after the Rushville incident. It became Hal's murder. Like it was kind of two stories, the Manhunter on Earth versus who killed Hal, both of which were. established in the first episode. And again, now to this point of asking people what they watch, when I talk about this show or maybe in general, I want to ask people, you saw Captain America Civil War, right, Rocks?
Starting point is 00:48:48 Yeah. I want to ask people, in that movie, what is your favorite scene in that movie? And if someone comes to me, goes, oh, my God, the airport battle, I'm going to say, Lanterns isn't for you. Because to me, the best scene in Captain America is Civil War is Steve and Tony sitting in a glass box talking. Yeah, me too. That is the best scene
Starting point is 00:49:06 of the Avengers all coming together in that movie. It is that scene. So for me, that's why this show is incredible. How and John talking and the whole I love you, Jr., like,
Starting point is 00:49:18 that's the, because think about this, going into Man Up Tomorrow, do you know how many people are going to be behind John Stewart going into Man of Tomorrow? We've gotten eight hours of this guy's story.
Starting point is 00:49:28 He's one of the most fleshed out characters in the DCU at this point, more so than Superman. Let me ask you a couple specific questions. How did you feel about his changing, John's changing of the oath? As a diehard green lantern fan, how did you feel? I'm glad you said that, Roxy, because I posted a picture from a comic panel showing lanterns all doing different oaths at the same time. It's established in canon that lanterns sometimes do create their own oaths.
Starting point is 00:49:54 That is canon. Now, later on, they've streamlined it to the one oath and that's what they do now. But in canon, it is normal for, in the Green Lantern mythology, it is known that different lanterns have given different oaths. Everything about John building up to this, he wouldn't take what's been set before him to do. He rejected the guardians. He didn't want the ring for 10 years.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Why would he just go, okay, yeah, I'll do what you said. He's like, he made his own rules and charted his own path. It works for me. It worked. There was no, oh, this is, I'll say the one thing that bothered me about the episode and I said this online is like I would have liked to see him in the suit. I would have liked that final him to construct his own suit kind of different how Hal had a physical one. Like I think that would have been a do you think that that would have been a detriment though
Starting point is 00:50:44 to it could have been actually seeing it in man of tomorrow 100%. And I think Monday the showrunner said online he was like we thought about it. But at this point we just felt him rising up into the guy as his own man charting his own path with the lantern and his oath like we thought it would have taken away from the moment so they're the ones in charge that's their the reason the reason this worked for me is because I needed this show to accomplish a few things they established themselves as a murder mystery show and I needed that from the beginning from the beginning that was the premise of this show is a lantern show that is a murder mystery show and I needed them to stick the on that because it's a murder mystery show.
Starting point is 00:51:29 And to me, they really fucking stuck the landing on that. I was shocked and I thought it was earned. It wasn't just shocked for shock factor. I thought it made sense what had happened there. I also needed them to explain to me who was going to be the green lantern moving forward and what was going to happen with John. And they did do that. So while I understand if you,
Starting point is 00:51:56 you wanted a different show, and this wasn't that show, you might be disappointed. Maybe you wanted this show to take place in space completely. Maybe you wanted to not just hear about Hal and Sinestro's backstory, but to see the entire thing. Maybe you don't care about John Stewart's Green Lantern, and you just wanted to watch a Howe Jordan TV show. Maybe you wanted to see Green Lanterns in Green Lantern suits doing Green Lantern things the whole time. And if those are the things that you wanted, then this show was not that. But I don't think it's fair for us to watch television shows like that. Like if we don't get what we wanted, then it's not a good show.
Starting point is 00:52:39 That doesn't make any sense to me. That's not how television works, especially when we still have a whole future and a whole past. We don't even know what Grant Lantern Season 2 could do. We don't even know what it might be in Man of Tomorrow. This is a whole universe. So it's just odd to me that so many people are like, Not my lantern, not my house.
Starting point is 00:52:58 What? I get like I get, I get, I think I said this a couple weeks ago. Like I get if you wanted a space adventure with them in suits every episode, throwing green constructs every five minutes. Like I get that because that is green lantern. But this is not the story they're telling. I think. But imagine watching Spiderverse. I know.
Starting point is 00:53:17 Imagine watching Spiderverse and saying, I want this to be a Peter. I wanted Peter Parker. that I wanted this to be a Peter Parker movie. What? Deny the director of Dune that said this. Like he made Dune for one person himself. And he hopes that people like it. Like every creator that I know
Starting point is 00:53:37 when you're writing a book, a novel, a TV show, whatever, you write what you want to see and you hope that the people will join you on it. Like you can't write for everyone else. You've got to write this. This is the story they wanted to tell. And they said from the beginning,
Starting point is 00:53:53 They never once pulled the wool out from under their eyes going, oh, this isn't what it was supposed to be. This was a murder mystery, like you said, from the beginning. And what I love about this, one, they say it's not Hal Jordan. And my response to that is they're telling Hal is a 60-year-old man that's been a lantern for 40 years and never was parallax. Show me in the comics where this period has been taking place in Hal's life. And I'll go, yeah, you're right.
Starting point is 00:54:17 It's different from the comics because it's not. It's different John Stewart. but also what I loved, and you said, I as a Green Lantern guy, have never been able to explain to people when they ask you. I thought it's like one lantern per sector. Why are they like five on earth?
Starting point is 00:54:30 I've never been able to have a good answer because the comics kind of wishy-washy on it. I love that they came in and go, how was it for 40 years? He retired. John didn't want it. Guy got it. He was the third place guy.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Then Hal comes back. His ring is off the line. That's why the rings don't look alike. Then he gets the ring. Sinestra gives him a little. lantern and John's like hey guy kick rocks you're out of here I'm taking it back they explained it like I love that they set it up to know why there were different rings why there were different lanterns I love that yeah so I'm like you talked about if this show isn't for somebody then it's just not the
Starting point is 00:55:08 show that you wanted but to think it's a bad show I don't get that as a person who watches over a hundred shows a year I know what a bad show is it might not be the lantern show you wanted but this is not a bad TV show. And that's kind of a bizarre take to me. It's all subjective. You know, yeah. I'm just, I'm trying, because a lot of people tried to compare this to Penguin. And I'm kind of like, well, it's both DC Studios. So, but like, I didn't see the discourse going, well, he doesn't have an umbrella. And he doesn't have a fascination with penguins. And his name's not Cobble Pot. This isn't fucking penguin. It's just like, this is a fucking badass show with Colin Farrell. That's fucking awesome. But the penguin shows. Was his name not Cobblepot? No, they call them Oz Cobb because they tried to say something like, well, a gangster wouldn't say Cobblepot. It's like, it sounds like a character. I don't even remember that part. That's funny. Yeah, but it was like, it was a stupid reason, but they went with it.
Starting point is 00:56:05 But it was vastly different than the character in the comics, Oswald Cobblepot, vastly different. But no one gave a shit about it. So I don't know if this is because it's a gun thing and he's more involved in this than he is the penguin. So it just, it seemed like a lot of performant of bullshit. I want to get to some of your guys's questions. I look to PLD to... I miss the DC movie news days where we could talk about this for two hours.
Starting point is 00:56:29 I know, me too, but there are more stories. They're kind of lanterns related. I feel like we talked about a little bit of all of it, though, other than like what exactly season two will be. But we did talk some of our thoughts. Can I just move to questions, PLD? You got it. He says yes.
Starting point is 00:56:49 Wait, PLD, before I lose... you because you said that you in the chat you wrote that you liked the finale. Can you give us your brief thoughts on it? Sure. I came into the lantern show seeing it. I saw the first trailer and I was not hyped for it because I wanted
Starting point is 00:57:04 the space show. That's what I initially wanted. But it definitely didn't lie. It told you exactly what it is. And I got into the characters and by the end I thought that was the best kind of finale you could have had. It was an emotional finale. You get Hal Jordan at his best. You get John Stewart becoming the John Stewart that's going to be involved in the DC.
Starting point is 00:57:20 now. I thought I was like, I don't know why we expected a big finale battle anyway either, to be honest. Yeah. I think it's such a fair take because like you, it wasn't the show that you wanted, but you didn't think it was a bad show. Not at all. I think it's totally fair that people are like, this is not the show that I wanted. Okay. And it won me over too. That's a great thing about it. To your point, when you guys were saying, Roxanne, we said earlier about the audience and their, you know, the general audience versus Twitter bubble. Like my, The people I was in Texas with, they're not on Twitter. They don't know anything about Twitter.
Starting point is 00:57:55 They don't know discourse. They watch the show. And they love it because, like, my parents, my parents got hooked because, and again, why HBO was smart about it, they were building it as true detective. My parents love true detective. So they got in. They like Kyle Chandler. So they just got in through that. Like my buddy, who's my age.
Starting point is 00:58:11 And he has a comic guy knows the comics a little bit. He doesn't really read. But he loves it. So it's like there are people that are brought in this. They're not upset that you're not seeing. and kill all the aliens and stuff like that. They just are enjoying a good show. It's like we forget that we're in the small little online bubble that's, yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I'm curious how the show does. Like I am I am curious if this does what Warner Brothers, what D.C. wants it to do, which is probably make them money, get people hype for season two, get more butts in seats for Man of Tomorrow, sell John Stewart and how Jordan action figures make people curious about past, present and future, explain the guy and John future of the Green Lantern Court. Like I'm curious if they, if right now D.C. is sitting being like, yeah, that definitely accomplished what we wanted it to do,
Starting point is 00:59:08 the viewership, the money, everything we wanted, or if they are feeling like, uh-oh, about this. I would have to assume it's the former, but time will tell, I guess. Yeah. I feel like it's the former at this point. But I mean, I think we always have that loud discourse that's kind of always around all of these properties now. So it's hard to determine what is real and what is not at this point. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:28 But the viewership of what I've heard is pretty decent. So hopefully that's the way we're going to go moving forward with that. I will say ending my last notice, I hope we get more howled because Cal Chandler was easily. It's so great. I think that's one of those things they didn't realize. Right. I think they pitch the story and this is what they wanted. I didn't they of course could not tell how the audience will react to the two of them so right but I mean
Starting point is 00:59:51 But there's room for that then Esther Senestro said he's like I can bring him back right yeah I know how to bring him back Even if it's not actually bringing him back we we know that John can access him now so memory banks and OA back in like the real big lantern cosmic legend thing so yeah there are ways that he'll come back And I think I think they're being looked at like oh shit we got to bring him back because the audience is definitely resonated with him Great. It's like Kristen, Christian, Milliotti,
Starting point is 01:00:17 like the audiences love her. And the fact that she's not in the, I don't think she's in the Batman too. They didn't, because the script was being written while the penguin was airing. And audiences love her. I thought you were going to want,
Starting point is 01:00:31 right. Can I tell you something? Yeah. About that show and executives and how they don't know anything. I know people on Warner Brothers. And I don't, I don't talk scoops and stuff
Starting point is 01:00:41 because it's not my place. There were quite a few executives that did not like her when they were watching the dailies. They didn't understand what she was doing. And I heard that also about her in Pierre. They were like he's too, they like he's too bloc, he's too bland.
Starting point is 01:00:55 And I told my friend after us, is like, he's like, buddy, your friends. He's like, I know, man, I know. They're execs. They're guys in suits. They don't get it. Well, that's stupid. So that's stupid. All right, here we go. I got these, PLD. BoJack says, Deadline says that Spielberg is coming back to
Starting point is 01:01:13 transformers, but when it is, but when it also said Bay is in negotiation to direct, I immediately lost interest. Okay. Would this project you rock? Thank you. Would Michael Bay directing Transformers be a major negative for you, Mike? I, the first one is, you know, it's not like G.I. Joe or like some of the other 80s properties like Masters of the Universe for me.
Starting point is 01:01:41 That was always like a distant one. I was much more of a G.I. Joe He Man Mask guy. I like the first one. I think technically you watch those movies now and they're 20 years old. They are incredible. The CGI is incredible. I think Travis Knight's version of Bumblebee at the beginning of that movie was more of what it should have been. I don't know what you say that you haven't already said with, I don't know, what is it, six or seven of those movies by now?
Starting point is 01:02:11 I don't know what you I think what they should be doing because they green G.I. Joe's going for with Danny McBride and and um oh god, Bradley Cooper. And I think that's going to get fast track now that the merger's done. I think you do a couple G. I Joe movies and then you introduce transformers to them together.
Starting point is 01:02:29 Cool. And that that you make it like because they were doing a G. Joe transformers and that got shuttled or scuttled because the McBride G. Joe is going forward real fast. But I think you do a couple of G. Joe's and then bring Transformers in and that gets you. I co-sign. Billion dollar box office.
Starting point is 01:02:46 Yeah. GoPowell says Roxy Teal tequila is Natsoc. Just say no. Really? That's a Nats. That's a Nass. Oh, Knox fan?
Starting point is 01:02:55 No, no. Nationalist socialism. It's like the Nazi party. Oh, yeah. Oh, she is. I know. She's nuts. Yeah, that chick's nuts.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Yeah, that chick's nuts. What happened? She was, she's like the cute little chick, right? The cute little that. cute little chick with a little dumper on her and yeah she went nuts okay
Starting point is 01:03:17 yeah so cute a cute little dumper on thinking of the right person Warren Bloom says favorite music video fuck we used to get questions about music videos on world girls all the time I have to tell you I miss world girls I just miss it I miss it I miss it
Starting point is 01:03:33 I do too I was never like a major music video girl I loved all Britney Spears's music videos. I thought those were so fun. Blink 182 had a bunch of cool music videos. Spice Girls has a good ones. Yeah, for sure. But do you have a favorite music video?
Starting point is 01:03:52 I'm not, I was never a music, like you, I'm not a music video guy. I mean, any Michael Jack, thriller, you know, thriller. You know what my favorite, but it's not a music video as much as a video set to music. What? I've just remembered one that I'm going to talk in the show that I don't think anyone knows about. Really? My God.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Do you know the song? Hold on. I'm trying to think of it. I'm trying to think of the course. Keep talking, Rox. I got to think of the course. Hold on. I'm so curious what you're about to say,
Starting point is 01:04:19 because why would nobody know what it is? Okay. Because I didn't know what it was until, but we all know the song. So I'll tell you what my favorite, I think you can call this music video. Like Mike. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:31 Go ahead. No, rocks. Go ahead. There's this music video. It's really a video set to music that is this amazing song by the shoes called Time to Dance that I love. Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this music video or this video.
Starting point is 01:04:43 And it is like a slasher, horror video. It came out, I want to say I was still in high school. So before 20, no, no, I was in college, I think. So before 2013, it was, it's like the greatest fucking music video of all time. If you haven't checked it out, go watch it. Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in it, I think that this is why he got nightcrawler. Like, he is so good. So, Roxy, there is a famous song from the 80s that played,
Starting point is 01:05:12 let everyone knows. And I bet I'm going to sing the chorus to it. I bet you know this song. Here comes my vocal talents. If I could fly, I'd lift you up. I take you into my arms. Okay. And show you the world like you've never seen.
Starting point is 01:05:30 You know that song? Yeah, I think so. You ever see the music video for it? I'll bet you haven't. Because the very first line of that fucking song is this. It's an old 50-year-old dude walking down the street. He comes to a house, wraps on the door. The man answers the door and goes, and this is the very first line of the song,
Starting point is 01:05:47 She's just 16 years old. Leave her alone. And then the guy turns to the camera and goes, They say, it is about a grown man coming to date a 16-year-old. And then he's looking in her window. And he's like, and he's like, I'd lift you up. I take you. It's your favorite music video?
Starting point is 01:06:09 No, it's not my favorite music video. It's the fact that I had no idea that this is what the song is about because I know the chorus. Like, I take you into my arms and lift you. We all know that from the 80s, but we've never watched the video. I think in the 80s, when everything was going on, they played it probably once and was just like, oh, no. Oh, guys, please go and watch this video. Please. Okay, if you want an actual great music.
Starting point is 01:06:32 Oh, my God. It's insane. Okay. Oh, good. Okay. Okay. So GoPas says Windex. That's a ref.
Starting point is 01:06:42 I've not heard in a long time. A reference I've not heard a long time. Okay. Mike, Joyce says, be honest, Mike. You missed last week's show because you were in San Francisco with Penny, weren't you? You were the cameraman, right? I don't know what was going on with that, but my God.
Starting point is 01:06:56 Have you spoken to her since she came on the show? We did a couple DMs. Let me see here. Okay. So we are at 22 right now. That's terrible, guys. Come on now. That is terrible.
Starting point is 01:07:11 At what number will you read us? No, those are between me and her. They're private. Will you read us any part? Let me see. No, they're private. Yeah, we DM'd a couple times. They're not sexy DMs.
Starting point is 01:07:27 It's not like, you know. Then they're not private. Connor says, my favorite stereotype is stereotypes about ginger. So funny. Mike, I still. I still think you are my real dad. I loved that fucking, I don't know how to say this in a PC way. Did you see the entire like ginger's knowing what it's like to be black on TikTok trend?
Starting point is 01:07:51 No. That's not my algorithm. That's not my fucking algorithm. If you don't know what I'm talking about, like it was the most amazing, like black people and redheaded people teamed up on TikTok. talk to like talk about how they were one and the same for like two weeks. I don't know how to describe it. It was that it was such a fucking funny trend. Anyway, yeah, it happened.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Believe me. Nathan Drake says, Mike is the Sweeney soap still for sale. No, that's it that we talked about this guy's like I can't find it. You went out of town though. What do you mean? I'm not going to do without the soap. Oh, you couldn't find the soap?
Starting point is 01:08:32 it's like $200 on eBay. Oh, oh. So I'm like, I don't know. I have to either make some kind of adjustment to that thing or something, but it's like the soap is, I thought it's just you go into the store and you buy it or on Squatch's website. And it's like, it's like $200 on eBay. Somebody has to send it to you.
Starting point is 01:08:51 I don't want anyone doing that. If you can get it for cheap, sure, but not or send me the direction. I'm not, but yeah. Joey Pedro says love for the Tuesday crew. Thanks, Joey. Still love that video you made. You rock. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:06 Frank says, like lanterns overall, but I'm bummed. We just skipped Howell's journey, and it did feel at times like they wrote a show, then picked an IP to pack on after. I think it's fair to be bummed
Starting point is 01:09:19 if you really wanted to see Howe's journey. I didn't feel like they picked an IP after because I did, even though it was not like space copy, it felt so, pun intended it felt so much at the core of the lanterns
Starting point is 01:09:34 like it felt like it got the heart and the understanding the responsibility and like what they are there for so I mean I get what you're saying
Starting point is 01:09:44 but again I think this is more John's journey I think going into this they knew John was going to be the lantern of the DCU and this was his story but we also got a lot of Hal's I get what you're saying man
Starting point is 01:09:59 I get it. I get it. But as a how Jordan guy, like, he's playing my second favorite character outside of Batman. Like, I love this take on this character. I want to see more of them. That's the downside. Derek Johnson, get off Twitter. It serves no purpose
Starting point is 01:10:15 at all. Throw in support. Thanks, DJ. That's my DJ. It's tough, man. I get a DJ. But I always think back to like the period when Masters of the Universe came out. And it was like two weeks of like just fun on Twitter, talking to people, about that all love that movie and and there wasn't a shitty group of masters of universe fans like it wasn't the human i grew up with
Starting point is 01:10:36 it was just like everyone was just kind of having fun talking about it it's yeah i just can't believe about teal tequila skywalker uh says praying for rea's family but we need to finally get the true dc batman that that is not grounded but is cap level with fighting strength and speed i get what you're saying man and i and i think That is what the DCU Batman is going to be. I think it's, and that's why that is going to be Brandon Sklinar. That is, like I,
Starting point is 01:11:06 I've said it every day. That is who is going to be Batman. That will be announced. So I went to the movies the other night, and I saw a trailer. First of all, it was like, I think it's called Mr. Irredeemable or Mr.
Starting point is 01:11:20 It's corn sweat. It's like in a football movie that's based on a true story. That looks so good. But right after that was a Brendan Scalinar trailer. And I've never seen him on any of his show, so I can't say what he would be like acting wise, but watching these two guys on the big screen in trailers, it just is like,
Starting point is 01:11:40 oh, I could absolutely see them being in the same thing together as counterparts. Like I know people are a big fan of Ackles in the role, and he's a good, I like him as an actor, but I can't, I've never seen him as Batman, ever.
Starting point is 01:11:55 I think that is a, mark my words. You don't have to because it's going to be Brandon. I would not be disappointed if it was. And again, I don't know who's acting. You've never seen them acting anything. But just this trailer with corn sweat right before it in a different trailer, just they had both had that level of, oh, I have to watch these guys.
Starting point is 01:12:15 It was just, they both had a nice kind of like star quality about them. Eric Slabby. What are your thoughts on the day drinker trailer with Johnny Depp? It looks intriguing. And coupled with Ebenezer, could Depp? be making a solid return. I've never heard of Daydricker until you just wrote that. What is that?
Starting point is 01:12:33 I saw the trailer for it. What is it? Honestly, I'm going to tell you, Roxy. I couldn't tell you what it was about because as I'm watching it, I'm like, oh, it's Johnny Depp doing another weird character and all of his past shit he's been
Starting point is 01:12:49 dealing with was present when I was watching the trailer, so I don't know what the trailer was about. I think he's got too much baggage at this point. for audiences to fall in love with them again. So it's joined up, Madeline Penelope Cruz. It's a supernatural revenge thriller. I couldn't even tell you that that's what it was about.
Starting point is 01:13:10 I don't know, man. I feel the same way that you do. I feel distracted watching his stuff. You are. You're distracted. I'm distracted. So who know, he's, to me,
Starting point is 01:13:20 unlike some people who have been like canceled or borderline canceled or whatever you want to call it, who I don't like, somebody like Ezra Miller, I've never been a massive fan of them as a performer. Johnny Depp was my favorite actor growing up. Like, I thought he was talented, talented performer. I always loved Johnny's performances.
Starting point is 01:13:41 So part of me is hopeful that I won't be as distracted in some of these. But what I do know is that I went back for Real Rejects and I watched the Fantastic Beast movies. And maybe it was because it's the JK of it all and the Ezra of it all. and the Johnny of it all, but I was distracted those whole fucking movies. I was like, did you? That's a lot. And I, again, I don't know, so I'm not going to speak on it, but did
Starting point is 01:14:05 he have something either an accident or work done? Because watching him pre his trial to what he is now, and I know actors age, he just looks like a different person. I know what you mean. I don't know
Starting point is 01:14:21 the answer to your question, but I see what you're talking about. Yeah, it is a different face. It looks wider? Not in a he's gained weight. No, no. In the same way that Zach Ephron had that same thing happen.
Starting point is 01:14:37 So I don't know if there was an accident or some kind of surgery or I'm not going to speak to that. It just, there's a lot going on in this trailer that I just, I don't. I want to get back to the Johnny Depp of Pirates of Don Juan DeMarco of like that era. Like his old school like, I say old school. I mean, Pirates is, do you believe Pirates is almost 20?
Starting point is 01:14:56 It's crazy. Four years ago, 22 years ago. That's insane. Yeah, it is insane. To Eric's question, though, I do think he is making a, like, he's clearly been accepted by studios again to be back in the pop culture scene. So, Casey says, A. Jules, cluck it.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Thanks, Casey. Caleb, Kibby says, Roka had like 80 bucks totally yesterday. Poor guy. Oh, come on, guys, then. Let's. We always have those weeks. I'm sure Roxy and I have pulled some back.
Starting point is 01:15:30 For sure, but that means that, but that's like us right now. We got to, we got to up our game. I know. Frankie says 100 Jules. High five.
Starting point is 01:15:36 Thanks, Frankie. Frankie. Eric says, I like the return of GI, but to me, the show seemed. What did you just say,
Starting point is 01:15:45 Roxy? I like the return of, I like the finale of GL. I like the return of GI. Jesus, you're like, Harloff with your fucking reading here. I'm usually pretty good
Starting point is 01:15:57 You are what the hell rocks I don't know what that one I just You like the return of my GI track And I don't know I'm doing this GI I was thinking GI Joe You know when you you convince your brain Something says something so then I stopped And I looked at it again I was like the return of GI
Starting point is 01:16:13 The return of GI It doesn't even say Okay I like the finale of Green Lantern But to me the show seemed to want to avoid being a Green Lantern show, which is a bummer. It seemed like a deconstruction of Green Lantern and how, rather than building it up,
Starting point is 01:16:30 I'm excited for a season two, though, as I like the show. Cool. That's a great tempered, measured opinion. I'm excited for the return of GI. So, listen, we all have our wants. I get what you're saying. Revenge of GI. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:16:49 Attack of the GI. What I do love about this show is, but people might feel they shied away from it, but the lore is still there. Like he mentions all the other lanterns. He mentions Abin-Sir. Like, even, it didn't shy away from, like they don't even talk about it.
Starting point is 01:17:04 Like, it's there and they went into space. They saw Sinetrients, like, so they're there, but they kept it grounded. I get what you're saying. I do. But they also left the door open for it to be there and it feel natural. So just kind of maybe take that to heart.
Starting point is 01:17:19 I do think that what's challenging about live action superhero stuff and and the current day that we're in if this was an animated show or if audiences wanted a bunch of AI and de-aging we could go back and do an entire how prequel um i just don't know that that's what we that's well that's my thoughts i don't think we're hearing how what monday's saying about season two it's not going to we're going to like i want stewart to be in the movies and that's where we see him and i want season two to be like hal and and Estro and their story. I don't think that's what we're going to get,
Starting point is 01:17:55 but that's what I would. I would love to see the TV lanterns focus on hell in the past. Movie lanterns is John and Guy. And what about the return of GI? My GI is always good to return. Oh, good, good. Harsh bade, harsh bade, 2511, now I'm really trying to read.
Starting point is 01:18:17 In brightest day and darkest night, he stood right here, Mogo and I. That was pretty funny We just talked about his funeral He was there Yeah, Moog was right next to me Right next to me That's great
Starting point is 01:18:31 Thank you buddy That was I thought that funeral scene was amazing by the way I thought that that was so well written King of the Wicker people John's origin story Did you skip one? Go back
Starting point is 01:18:44 I think we skipped one Nope I was wrong Sorry Okay I'm trying to keep us honest Cool. John's origin story is Senestra's origin story. I'll determine what's right because the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps
Starting point is 01:19:02 don't know what they're doing. Then he creates his own core and lantern. He became moral relativist by the end. What's a moral relativist? I don't know. But I mean, you know, I think the whole story with John is he was always told it was going to be this way, this way, this way. and he didn't like the way the guardians ran things.
Starting point is 01:19:22 He didn't like the way his parents brazed him, and he charted his own path. Someone made a really good point. Because when Sinestro forged his own lantern, and it's a little broken and there's kind of gold in it. And there's the, you know, that could foreshadow yellow. But also there's a Japanese art form. I'm really glad though that we didn't make the yellow lantern.
Starting point is 01:19:41 Right. Where there's something that's broken. And instead of just pasting over the cracks, they fill the cracks in with gold. So you see the imperfections. It's a Japanese style of art that I'm not I don't know the name of it But I was like that's fascinating if that's what they did where it's a broken lantern But it's filled in with gold so you do see the cracks but you admire the beauty that it's not perfect
Starting point is 01:20:01 So I was like that's kind of a cool thing if that's the way they did it I agree Michael Disa speaking of how do either of you remember a music video from the 90s featuring Gillian Anderson a random memory but damn she was she was slash is still hot still hot She's so hot no I don't know that and also great picture I can acknowledge his picture Oh God, hold on Let me get my glasses on I'm so great
Starting point is 01:20:27 I wear the same hat a lot don't I? It's an excellent photo James Wheeler I really like the whole season Just not the final episode Oh okay so you're who I was wondering You're talking about James You are too much exposition in episode eight
Starting point is 01:20:41 See like That's interesting to me Because I wasn't seeing that many people online Like the people online that I was seeing That didn't like the finale They were like I hated the whole show And I'm like then how'd you get this far? But if you liked the whole show and then you didn't like the finale,
Starting point is 01:20:54 I am curious what you said too much exposition, hmm, you wanted it to be more action-based. And again, for most, for most fanalies, a lot of times they are building up to the big finale. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:08 You know, and this was not that. Sean McCabe says, loved lanterns, a great character study. You guys are badass holding it down for Christian. Much love from Queens. You rock.
Starting point is 01:21:17 Thank you, Sean. Thanks, Sean. V rock. I think it's harder to, finish a TV series than a movie. Yeah, for sure, just by hours. Or do you mean finish it landing it properly or finishing like?
Starting point is 01:21:32 Watching or writing? Or do you mean like writing? Like you've got to stick the landing on a TV show and it's harder. I mean making it. I think both. Yeah. Yeah. I get what you're saying. As somebody who's been writing a lot recently, I don't find the third act of a movie
Starting point is 01:21:48 to be particularly difficult. It's the second act of. a movie that can be very challenging, as opposed to when I'm writing series, how something ends is so much harder than what's going on in the middle. So I could see that. Yeah. But I definitely have seen a lot of movies more so with like, man, that third act really dropped the ball.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Like for me, the biggest one of recent years was fantastic for two thirds of that movie, I was on board. And then that finale, I'm just kind of like, eh. yeah okay k dog um thumbs down on lanterns episode eight but but i didn't like season one overall okay okay fair enough go pal says my charona and don't stand so close to me are also both really sketch if you listen to the words i know don't stand some close to me for sure um my shirona i've never thought about the lyrics to it bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum my Exactly, Mikey.
Starting point is 01:22:51 Yep. Michael D. with that great picture, How featuring Gillian Anderson, extremists, so 90s. Extremist, so 90s. I don't know what that is. It's a video, but I don't know it.
Starting point is 01:23:04 Okay. She is great. Love her. Seattle, K.O. Have either of you seen primetime not yet? Skylar Vood, Gizondo. Gizondo, I love him. And Merritt Weaver stole the show in it.
Starting point is 01:23:16 Patinson was also good. Totally had some nightcrawler vibes. Oh, then I'm looking. forward to it. I have not seen it yet, but I have been going down the Chris Hansen rabbit hole that is just that man is the, oh my God, he's so funny when he, he's got such an air of superiority when he's like interviewing the people. It's the best. I did, speaking of Patinson, I did finally watch that 824 movie with Zendaya and Pattinson. The fuck was it called. The drama. So, I thought it was so good. I really liked it. Do you know the premise of that movie, though? I don't even know that was a movie. I was shocked. I had no idea what the premise of the movie is,
Starting point is 01:23:57 and we got to it, and I was like, oh, my God. What is the premise? Do you want me to tell you, or are you going to see the movie? I might see it. Are you? Tell me. Tell me. Okay.
Starting point is 01:24:09 Spoilers on the drama. If you haven't seen the drama, you might not want to listen to this. So it's a romance movie of Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, who are getting married and they're planning their wedding. And the like as they're doing a food tasting for their wedding with their two best friends, one of the, which is Alanaheim, they are like, okay, let's all say the worst thing that we've ever done in life. Like what's the worst thing you ever did?
Starting point is 01:24:38 Okay. And Zendaya is like I planned a school shooting. I never did it, but I planned it. And I hear the people that I was going to mash. This was the gun that I got like all the stuff. And that's a great premise. And her fiance, Robert Pattinson, is like, what? And then they can't move on from the fact that she didn't do it.
Starting point is 01:25:07 And it's like, why didn't you do it? What was the reason? And like all of these things. It's such an odd movie. That's an incredible premise. Yeah. It was like, I was watching it like this.
Starting point is 01:25:20 And it's pitched as a dark comedy, but it's called the drama. And it really is like, I was sitting there like, what the fuck is going to happen here? It was, I understand why it was such a divisive film, but it was really interesting.
Starting point is 01:25:35 Okay. Let's see what's going on with Atomic Brunette. Watching Lanterns, I got a serious man crush on Hal Jordan. Oh, well, did you guys have a favorite fictional crush growing up slash now? It was always, a kid it was Sean Hunter from Boy Meets World. Brider Strong, I loved him when I was little.
Starting point is 01:25:54 Two, and they're going to show my age. Linda Carter is Wonder Woman, and as I got a little older, Tiffany Amber Thieson, Unsaid by the Bell. Now it's Idris Elba and anything he's in. Now? Oh, Ajorona. Well, aren't you going to be very excited for Wonder Woman? Christ, man.
Starting point is 01:26:17 My God. Elark, the show failed to explain what a manhunter is other than someone who seeks power through leverage and has a glass heart and strong, I guess, the reveal who gets shot in the head and casually sits down. Well, no, they explained that the manh hunters are created by the guardians to police the universe. And so it's there, you know.
Starting point is 01:26:45 I think. Like to police, to be a, I have to watch the way that they say. When I talk about this stuff, I have to remember that I know the comics. You have a lot of ancillary knowledge. Yeah. So I have to filter it. So I apologize if I said that wrong, how they explained it.
Starting point is 01:27:00 I think that they explained enough to understand what the Manhunters were for season one. The previous to the lanterns where the guardians created them to police deers. And they realized that they didn't work. For the casually sitting down, I don't look at it as casual. Like, I think somebody who's in shock. Like. Because you mean they find him seated? Oh, I know what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Do you feel that the way she shoots him, he just kind of plops down. Lops down? My friend said, but he goes, he should have been seated. And she shoots him and she's there. It didn't stick out for me. It didn't stick out for me, but I can see where you're saying it felt kind of he, he just kind of, he stood and he just sat right into where he, they found him. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:27:43 I do. Even Drake says maybe a hot take, but Mark Strong was better as Sinestro. This guy didn't feel scary. The makeup was lazy as well. Bad Sumber. Wow, I so didn't feel that way. I thought the Sinatra was fucking menacing. And I love Loxr.
Starting point is 01:27:57 But I thought he looked scary as fuck. I don't know the fact of him. Mike Joyce, Roxy, you've been traveling vacationing a lot these days to some pretty cool places ever thought about doing travel vlogs. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 01:28:12 It so does not feel like I've been traveling and vacationing a lot these days. But I have been doing a lot of one-night camp getaways that are driving distance. So I guess that is totally what that is. And I feel grateful for that because I love the outdoors and I love getting away and I love doing it in a way that is relatively affordable. And I'm still close enough to grab me that I can get back if I need to. So yeah, I've been trying to post more. I would love to start doing some travel vlogs if people were interested in it, especially because there are so many unbelievable places around California,
Starting point is 01:28:44 in California, Arizona, Nevada, like, driveable places that you can do for pretty inexpensive and see the most unbelievable. Like I was in Big Sur this weekend camping. And I've never seen the Redwoods. Have you ever seen the Redwoods? I've never have. The trees are so incredible there. I was waking up next to deer.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Like it was just, it was so fucking cool. And yeah, it was an absolute, I've just been able to see some really beautiful things. So I think that'd be very cool if anybody gave a shit about it. Kaz, the Fat Boy Slim Music video with Christopher Walken is amazing. Agree with Mike on weed smell. Always
Starting point is 01:29:26 happens to immediately take a shower and wash clothes after being somewhere with people smoking. Interesting. Yeah, I get, I mean people say literally it smells like skunk, so that's... Oh, okay. You've never heard that? I haven't. No.
Starting point is 01:29:42 As a big weed fan, the smell doesn't bother me that much, but I also would never, I would try to desperately never smell like weed because I don't like to smell like anything. But that is pungent like that. Mike Joyce says, what does old man Mike think of ASMR? Hey guys. So here I am with the new iPhone. And we're going to unbox it. Look at the screen. Look at that.
Starting point is 01:30:09 Oh, see, it's got the camera right there. Let me get my Diet Coke that I drink. Everyone's, oh, yeah. Look at that. Look at the straw. Fuck off. Fuck right off with your stupid bullshit because you think that that's good to get people to buy your fucking, like, what are we doing in life now, Roxie? Where people are like, look at this.
Starting point is 01:30:31 Apparently, like some people's brainwaves or something. Oh, God Almighty. What is wrong with people? They do toy unboxings. And they've got their rubber gloves on and they're like, like, here we are. Here's the new Sam Fisher splinter cell action figure. To me, if you're not hurting anybody and people like it,
Starting point is 01:30:55 I don't, it's not for me, but do your damn thing. We live on a planet that is, we, like, we are floating on a rock in the middle of an infinite space and people are getting by on like, like, what are we doing in life? What is going on here? What do you think about muckbang? What? What do you think about muck bang?
Starting point is 01:31:20 What the fuck is muck bang? What the fuck is this? Have you ever seen like, it's not always a very small people, like very small girls will eat like so much fucking food. You've never seen muck bang? And it's not always just very small girls. No, but what I've seen, Roxy, as they can. What I've seen, and again, I'm... And oftentimes there's a muckbang ASMR.
Starting point is 01:31:47 We've gotten to the point now where anyone can make money doing anything without doing actually anything. There's one... I don't know. I could never do the mock bang people. There is one person I see online. She's a larger person. And this is her thing. I'm not making fun of her. This is her bit.
Starting point is 01:32:03 She's like, I'm a big girl. And I love to eat. And she's got like cross-eyed. And she goes and she's a very large. person and what she eats in a day and you're watching someone kill themselves for money. I cannot fathom this. Like I get fitness influencers. I get that.
Starting point is 01:32:25 You know, the chicken patty girl, whatever she decided, she found out the chick filet, a chicken breast is the equivalent. It's a protein bar. You weren't here for that. Where are you? No, I was. I know. Yeah, that.
Starting point is 01:32:36 But this is a large girl. And her big thing is like, you know me. I'm a fat girl. And I like to eat. So here we are. I'm going to eat. And it's just her eating. And you watch us and you're like, you are killing yourself, literally for your clicks and likes.
Starting point is 01:32:53 Like, what are we doing in life? What are we doing? What are we doing? Don't like Buckbang. No. Sean says, did you watch Chris Carr and Winston react to the conjuring? I don't like modern horror myself and thoroughly enjoyed their dread and discomfort. No, I reacted to the conjurings for rejects, though.
Starting point is 01:33:09 And I liked those movies. Some of them were not good, but some of them were good. very good. I did not watch that. I do think I've been seeing the message back and forth about it. I don't think I've ever done this show with Chris, maybe once. And I love Winston, but we never do the show together either. What's funny about us how much they hate horror. I had to edit out a couple of Winston's end bombs because he got so. Yikes. That's funny. That's funny. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 01:33:37 last one for now so send them in if you want us to stick around until our 11 o'clock time slash if you want us to beat roca Mars Alex 81 hello Mike could you please tell the story of how you met your girlfriend and Shannon
Starting point is 01:33:51 yes I can we got time right yeah okay so I had moved out to L.A. with the girl we broke up and I had realized that I'd always been in a relationship I always had a girlfriend I never was single so I said you know what I'm going to take some time off
Starting point is 01:34:06 and not date at all. And I didn't date for about four years, just living my life. And then I was like, I'm going to get back into dating. And this by in that third from 2013 to 2017 online dating exploded. So I tried that for about a week. And I go, this is fucking terrible. This is I hated it, Roxy. Did you go on any dates? Yes. And the minute they would find out I was an actor, they would ghost me. And like this was at the height of like, I was having a great year. I just recurred on Jane the Virgin. I had booked Cass,
Starting point is 01:34:40 not Cassel. There was another show I booked. I was, I was killing it, like having a great fucking year. But, like, but they would be like real estate agents.
Starting point is 01:34:47 And I'm just like, okay, because the thing that anyone could get with the real estate license, but you're going to give me shit for an actor. There's one girl. She was, how do you know that's why that they ghosted?
Starting point is 01:34:57 Did they say anything? Or you could just tell. You could, one girl admitted, like, there was one girl. I really liked her. She was an Asian girl.
Starting point is 01:35:04 And we click online were clicking. and we set a date to, to get a date to, together just for, you know, lunch. The day before, she's like, hey, so I'm going to back out. My last boyfriend was an actor and this, this and this. And it's like, okay, I get it. But, hey, I took off work tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:35:18 So I'm going to go. And if you want to meet me there, I'll see if not. No worries. And she showed up. But then sitting there with her in person, I'm like, oh, like, I get used to meeting people in the entertainment industry where your personality, you just exude. You can talk and you can this. And I forget there's an entire word.
Starting point is 01:35:37 world out there. People that don't like public speaking. They're shy. So I met this girl. She was a finance girl. I was like, oh, you, I can't talk to you. You have no our person. And so that kind of ended. But anyway, so I digress. So we're doing, I'm a Collider. We were starting to shmow down. And Harloff wanted to set me up with one of his friends. And I was like, okay, yeah, maybe. Okay. And about an hour later, Jed is like, hey, Mike, are you single? And I'm like, yeah. And he's like, Sturger. And she's like, I want to meet my friend. And Harloff comes like, no, no, no, I'm setting him up with someone. And Jen's like, okay, whatever.
Starting point is 01:36:11 And then she's like, what do you think of this girl? And it was Instagram and she showed me Shannon. I'm like, oh, she's beautiful. And then like 20 minutes later, she's like, well, what about this girl? And she went through all her phone, like all her single girlfriends. And I was like, no, no, what was that first girl again? Go back to the first girl. Cut to like two weeks later.
Starting point is 01:36:26 Jay Washington was having a birthday at a bar. And Shannon's just like, or Jen was like, hey, Mike, Shannon's going to be at this bar. I showed her your picture. She thinks she's incredibly hot. she wants to meet you. I'm like, great. So I go, I remember driving to the bar. I parked outside. I had three beers in my car that I brought that I downed right away because I can't talk to women. So I had to get a little liquid courage. I go into the bar. That's not true, Mike. I cannot talk to women, Roxy. Really? It's awful. Women like in a, wanted to meet you way.
Starting point is 01:36:58 It's terrible. It's awful. Oh, wow. Yeah, I guess I've never seen you like that. No. Go to the bar. I see her. I'm introduced to her. And then she, couldn't fucking care less about me. She, like, oh, how nice to meet you and then turn around, talking back to her friends, I'm just like, so the whole night,
Starting point is 01:37:14 kind of ignoring me. We're getting ready to leave, and Shannon's drunk, Shannon's a little drunk. I was like, I'll drive you girls home if you don't mind. She's like, okay, cool.
Starting point is 01:37:22 I drove them to like 420 cafe for chicken fingers because they were drunk. And I watched gender door, and I take Shannon home, and I walk her to the door, and I said, hey, I'd love to, you have your phone number. Can I call you?
Starting point is 01:37:34 She's like, okay, you're giving your phone number. And then the very next day, I called her and said, hey, I don't remember last night. You're a little drunk, but, you know, I would love to take you out a date. She's like, and she's with her friends at the beach. And she's like, it's the guy from last night. He actually called. And she said yes to a date.
Starting point is 01:37:53 Where did you go? I checked her to a little Italian restaurant and called Chau Christina that's no longer there. And then I come to find out, we were talking a little bit and come to find out, Ms. Sturger lied because she never showed her my picture. She had no idea who I was. She was not there to meet me. Oh, my God. Nothing.
Starting point is 01:38:13 Nothing. And I was like, that explains why I didn't think you were in me. She goes, but I will say this. And the reason I said yes to giving you my phone number. When I said, I had to go to the bathroom. It was a very crowded bar. She's like, you said, you took my hand and you guided me through to the bathroom. And you waited for me and you brought me back to the group.
Starting point is 01:38:29 She's like, that made me. But then she goes, but then I was wondering why when you walk me to the door, you didn't fucking try and kiss me. I was like, because I hadn't asked you out on a date. Yeah. She's like, so, I wanted to kiss you. You were a hot guy. Wait, but why did Jen do that? Because she's fucking Jen. Yeah, lied. Completely lied. She, she never saw me. She didn't know anything about me. Nothing. Why would Jen do that? Yeah. Ask Jen. I don't know. Ask Jen. Call her right now. But here we are nine months. Call Jen right now and ask her. Me? Yeah, I want to know. She'll do it because she goes, because I knew you wouldn't say yes to her. She's like, I know, Mike, if a girl didn't think,
Starting point is 01:39:06 you're attractive or be interested in you, you wouldn't have gone. Oh my God. That's a big. I love her. That's hysterical. Jen's the best. I fucking love her. Okay.
Starting point is 01:39:15 Great story. That's the story. Thank you for asking about that. I didn't know that. But the biggest part of that story is why Shannon thought I was going to try and kiss her. I was just driving her home from the bar. She's like, yeah, you were a fucking hot dude. I wanted to kiss you and you wouldn't.
Starting point is 01:39:26 Because I hadn't asked you out on a date yet. Very respectful. Anyway. Mars Lax says, I was disappointed in the movie Verity. Oh, I haven't seen it yet in the twist plus. ending was awful. I don't know it. I don't understand the hype on Dakota Johnson. I love her. I got to say, as far as an actress, I'm indifferent, but in her photo shoots, she is, she exudes sexy. I think she's so sexy. I love Peter Butter Falcons so much that
Starting point is 01:39:55 that's when I really fell in love it. Is that the movie with the wrestling, with the special needs wrestling? Yes. Yeah. I love, I love Dakota. I think she's so good. I think she's, Elark, it would have helped if they showed the Manhunters as they are in the comics, an elderly woman and a high school kid left something to be desired and no guardian FX budget. I know what you're saying. You wanted to see them in their true form. I get it. I get exactly what you're saying, man.
Starting point is 01:40:25 And that's a valid, valid complaint. I get it, man. Michael D says, ASMR, but Mike doing Gucci let out. Could you even do that? Okay, here We have the phone This is the iPhone I do clickety, click click click click click clickety
Starting point is 01:40:41 A tap it tap it tap it The people like it is You have to whisper The people, they're like it is I hold up the phone And I go I take my fingers And I touch the device
Starting point is 01:40:52 I don't understand this The people They like me to take on my fingers And I go Clickety clickety clickety clickety Clickety clickety I tapida tapida tapida tapida This is like
Starting point is 01:41:01 One time I confused the shit with chocolate. If I would have touched it as shit, I would have known it wasn't a chocolate because I would have looked at my fingers with the SMR. And I would have gone, oh, that's a shit. That's another chocolate. Roxy, you like you are right now with your hands like that covering your hair and your eyebrows,
Starting point is 01:41:24 you look like my ex-girlfriend. Oh, my God. Well, ew. I don't know why it is. What do you mean? I did not because I look disappointed in you. No, it just, I can't see your blonde hair. No, not ill about what, not ill about that.
Starting point is 01:41:37 It's, looking the shit, chocolate. That's fucking, that's Gucci. I do it. Yeah. That's for the Gucci. That's for the people. That what he would do? The SMR, I'd lick at my fingers.
Starting point is 01:41:50 Oh, that's the shit. That's not the chocolate. Okay. I got to give the people what they want, Roxy. You know that about me. I know. 37. Low numbers today, guys, but good show anyway.
Starting point is 01:42:03 We, we'll get. Hey. Donate into the trending. I know. I get it, man. I get it. People only have such deep pockets. In this fucking world right now.
Starting point is 01:42:16 I know. It is crazy. It is crazy. When I was in Big Sur, do you know what it was, what the gas was? 8 something? 850.
Starting point is 01:42:26 Yeah. I'll say this. I've said this before. This is a little political, but it's not. I've always said, and this is kind of my stance on politics, and not my stance, but how it is in life.
Starting point is 01:42:36 Being a middle-aged straight white man without kids, in the past, it really didn't matter who was president. My life would pretty much be the same. I mean, if you have to look at things. I'll say this, man, over the past couple months, I've absolutely seeing it affect me. What's the current administration? And in the past, you know, however like, you know,
Starting point is 01:43:00 even in his first term, my life, and I mean that, And I mean that from financial, from social economic standpoint. It's, you know, that what it is. But it is, yeah, it's even my parents were saying stuff. And they're on the other side of the aisle. They are, yeah, it's a, yeah. But 850, that does not surprise me. Listen, it's so difficult.
Starting point is 01:43:24 And what's also challenging about what we do, I'm sure it's different at universal, but like being freelance as hosts and even actors, like, I have a couple of gigs coming up that I'm getting paid less now for all of my jobs than I was five years ago because even though the cost of living is going up. So usually that means how much you get paid at a corporate job goes up. That's not how it works when your bosses are individuals who are seeking less money. So like I used to get raises and now my rates get slashed every year. And it's like, and you're saying from the freelance side of it.
Starting point is 01:44:03 Yes. Yeah. Even Universal. Like we're, my union is not in negotiations, but there's a big union that's negotiating and they, I think are going to strike because what Universal is offering them as a raise is less than inflation. So even though on paper it looks like a lot,
Starting point is 01:44:19 it's not matching inflation. So they're getting ready to strike. Yeah. I get it. It's like impossible right now. It's very fucking difficult. It's a shit, shit situation.
Starting point is 01:44:29 Sean McCabe says, wanted to study film in college. By the way, thank you for the big support. Then 9-11 went into the Army and thank you for your service, as we've said before. Wow. Completely changed my trajectory. I'm so excited to be a part of trending, even on a minisculal level, finally making my dreams come true. I'm so excited. Oh, that's, that's amazing because you studied film. Wow. If you want to ask you, you can reach out to me, did you join because of 9-11 and you wanted to do something? Is that what happened? You wanted, because I saw, I mean, there was a lot of, that was a period. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:00 happen for me i i would look into becoming an air marshal around that because it was that period where every one of us wanted to do something yeah it was i was right starting my acting career and it was just like should i do this and and a couple gigs came up acting wise and i took that as a sign like now i wonder how different my life would have been now if i chose the other one it's the did you ever see that movie sliding doors it's guinatalto i didn't see it but i know it that's the i always think about that's like how much your life changes like what the rest of it would look like. And obviously we can't live life like that thinking about those things. But yeah, it's interesting. And that's very cool, Sean. That's how you're looking at trending as a way to be involved in an industry that you were passionate about before.
Starting point is 01:45:41 I see your response, Sean. Thank you. I see it. Okay. Well, I think we're going to get out of here. The good thing about today, the support in here, although only 38, is that there were some big ones. We had some substantial number boys and girls. financial ones. So appreciate to those of you guys who do financially support. And those who are just here in general, you guys are amazing. Okay, continuing with some of them for the next couple minutes if we get any more. Mars, lax, again, I don't know, every time I say this different, Mars Alex. Hi, my, hey, Mike, how did you overcome your struggle of talking to women? I don't believe it. Did you overcome it or did you just find a girl? Well, here's the thing. I am incredibly charming to women that I don't have any that I that I that okay perfect example I get a little
Starting point is 01:46:37 story we got a little time right for you got to take off Roxy so I'm in a relationship I've got a girlfriend I'm at Comic Con now the year before I was single and that's a good place to meet women really good I could not hook up meet a girl to save your fucking life I can I can't do it I can't talk to women. I get, I come off like fucking Mr. Magoo. Like, oh, oh, you know, it's like, I don't think that's true, Mike. Roxy, it is. But that said, the previous year, the next year, I come out, and Shannon, we've been dating for over a year now. Let me tell you something. I'm at the wired party. I'm fucking bringing drinks. I'm talking to three, four different women. I'm the pressure's off. I'm fucking Bruce Wayne walking in there, just talking everyone. And I'm, I met a girl. And,
Starting point is 01:47:24 Throughout the day, we're meeting, we're seeing each other at different parties and we're flirting, we're talking video games. I'm laying it on because I have nothing to go. There's no pressure. Well, the end of the evening comes and I go to my best friend. I was like, all right, man, hey, so as we walk out of this bar, don't leave me. Don't leave me. He's like, I got you, man. I got you. And so we're walking. He's like, oh, want me to walk you to your Uber? She's like, yeah, sure. I'm walking to Uber. And what do I see? I see my best friend take her right into the elevators. I'm like, Fuck! So we get to the other of the car. And then I'm like, oh, so nice to see you. And she leans in for the kiss.
Starting point is 01:48:02 And I did the old hug. I was like, oh, good to meet you too. And she's like, oh, I misread this. And it's like, no, I'm just tired. I get back up to the hotel. Why don't you just say I have a girlfriend of a year? I don't know. Because I was drunk.
Starting point is 01:48:14 Men are fucking weird. I know. And I get up there and I was like, you motherfucker. You fucking let me. He's like, no, dude. When you were fucking, when you turn your back to pay, she told me to get the fuck out of there because I was cock block. her. I was like, you fucking stand up for me. You don't do what she says. You do what I say.
Starting point is 01:48:30 Mean what me. So I could talk charm the pants off of any woman when I'm in a relationship. But there's no stakes involved. But when the stakes are there and you got to. Jesus Christ, just to all men out there, stop overcomplicating this. Don't lead people on. Just say, I have a girlfriend. I was really enjoying hanging out with you though. Hopefully we can be friends. But here's the thing, Roxy. Flirting is fun. It is fun. Every couple has their own rules. I know you and Shannon have your own rules. Oh, I don't say she would probably agree with what I would did. She knows the story.
Starting point is 01:49:00 She gets a good kick out of the story. But I get, flirting is flirting. Like there's a, there's a very famous, he's a, I think he's a divorce lawyer. He's got this white hair,
Starting point is 01:49:11 good-looking guy. I've seen him a bunch of. Do you know him? Yeah. I, you don't like him? I think some of the shit he says is so stupid. I love it.
Starting point is 01:49:19 He said something about, he's like, look, if I go to a museum and I see a beautiful fucking painting, I could go up and go, this is a beautiful painting. I don't want to take it home. But I want to say, it's like, that's a beautiful work of art. I enjoyed it. Thank you for brightening my day.
Starting point is 01:49:32 Like, why don't we say those things? When people come up to me, I've had people come up to me. I've said this to some people. There have been two instances where I've gone up to a girl and I go, hey, I don't mean anything like this. I just want to say you're beautiful. And there was one time, it was a flight attendant. And she afterwards, she's like, oh, do you want to exchange numbers? I have a girlfriend.
Starting point is 01:49:51 I just wanted to let you know that. And she goes, thank you so much. And we went on our way. That was it. I said that to one other girl once because when a girl's done that to me, she came up to me and she says, hey, I'm in a relationship,
Starting point is 01:50:02 but I just want to tell you that I was sitting, you were reading your book, just sitting there. I just want to say you're a very attractive man. That stuck with me from years ago. I think that's fine. Totally. That's not the same thing as all day
Starting point is 01:50:14 flirting with somebody and having to think that you're walking them to the car. The drinks were flowing. It's comic on. It's comic on. You do you. You do you, boo. As long as Shannon's cool that I'm cool with it.
Starting point is 01:50:26 But anyway, buddy, I never got over it. I never, thankfully, I'm in a relationship, and I never have to deal with it again. Go Pousas just got the notice my ballot was accepted. I like that we get those. Oh, for the boating. Yeah. I was like, oh, did you apply to something? Sean says, Roxie been watching Mobland.
Starting point is 01:50:44 Frigant fantastic. Yes, I have. I really like that show. I think Helen Mirren should not only be nominated for NME, but she should win for that role. Did they figure out the drama with that? With Hardy and all that? I don't even know what you're talking about.
Starting point is 01:51:00 That Tom Hardy wasn't coming back. Oh, I didn't know that. What? I don't remember that. Wasn't it for, are they in season three right now, but for season four? And I think then there was talk that it was a politics thing
Starting point is 01:51:11 between Miriam and Hardy and. Oh, no, I don't know. I haven't heard any of the behind the scenes drama for this. Oh. I don't know. I don't watch a show, but I just heard about it. So,
Starting point is 01:51:22 Well, thank you guys. PLD is going to take us out of here. But before he does that, bye, I guess before he does that, nothing, follow us. Go support trending. Support trending, support. Support Mikey. Go follow him on social media.
Starting point is 01:51:38 Say nice things. He's on Twitter. So he doesn't lose his mind. Same thing with me on socials. Do you think I should get a nip? You think I should pull it back a little bit? Never. I'm never touching it.
Starting point is 01:51:50 As much as I would, no, never going to do it. Nope. All right. Did you shit in there? Bye, everyone.
