What's going on, everybody?
Happy Wednesday.
A lot of news, man.
And right as we were going on today,
we've been talking about this fantastic forecasting.
I mean, hell, I think Mike and I talked about it last week.
It's like the worst kept secret in Hollywood.
We know the cast already.
When are they going to announce it?
Well, they finally announced it.
And it was every single person we thought it was going to be.
And Jeff Snyder right now is grinning,
realizing that once again he was right.
So we'll talk about the fantastic forecasting.
And we'll talk about what we think about it.
if it's going, if it is the right casting,
how we feel it's going to play in general.
I'll tell you what movie really played was Godzilla minus one.
It was my favorite last year.
Well, I share the opinion with somebody else.
Steven Spielberg loves Godzilla minus one,
and he talked about it as much.
I think that's a good thing that he's beefing that movie up as well.
A movie that I've always wanted to see that I was involved in
back in the day when I'm working for Joel Silver,
the Masters of the Universe, the He-Man movie,
it needs to be science versus magic,
needs to be Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars,
with Travis Knight now talking about it,
could that vision happen finally?
It's been a disaster trying to get this movie made.
So many iterations have just failed.
Can Travis Knight be the guy?
I'll tell you what, it didn't matter who it was.
Madame Webb, as they say,
whoof, brutal.
And down to like 19% of Rotten Tomatoes
and it looks like the Bob Marley movie's going to beat it in the box office.
And it's lucky it's not going up against Deadpool,
because Deadpool 3 is going to be taking everybody out.
to the box office as it is the most viewed trailer, I think, ever online.
Talk about that.
We'll have a little Star Wars talk.
Sam Jackson says, Mace Windo's not dead.
Not dead.
He makes the decision, and he's coming back, and we'll talk about that.
Speaking of other characters that were in the Star Wars universe,
Ben Mendelsohn, of course, playing Krennick.
He talked about Krennick, but he also talked about how he really wants to play Dr. Doom.
So how about that?
Is that a stack show or what?
Exactly.
So it's myself at Steph Sabraub, Mike Kalanowski.
We're all together.
Now, we are together.
but we're together in a different way, not in studio.
Why?
And I'm not feeling great.
And I don't want to get my friends and my co-ho's sick.
So we've been using this program, and you can't even tell anymore.
I love it.
I've been using it for the UAP show.
People love it.
I love it.
So hopefully you love it.
I love the fact that you're going to hit that button.

We're almost there.
About 126,000.
We've got to get to 200 by the end of the year.
I think we can do it.
Apple podcast, Spotify, anywhere podcasts are found.
Tis the big thing.
Let's go.
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
Tis the big thing.
Wednesday,
20204,
the year of our Lord.
Mike Kalanowski with much better lighting,
much better lighting.
Well done.
I fixed it.
Well done.
Well done.
And Steph Sabra.
Hello.
We're here.
We made it.
And look at this.
I love this wide shot.
That's my favorite thing that I've done so far.
since I've been a...
If you're real proud of yourself, aren't you?
I'm super proud of myself.
I'm very...
But I am proud of you.
Because right before we went on the air, I was like, great.
This guy looks like he's in the first Ironman cave.
But it looks...
Don't humor him, Steph.
Don't humor him, stuff.
It looks good.
It looks good.
Well, he built in a whole heart there, so I feel like...
That's right.
And a cave with scraps!
Yeah, happy Valentine's Day to everybody, by the way.
That's right.
I hope everybody's enjoying themselves and enjoying one another.
Happy Love Day.
um and uh my my six year old today okay sylvia dante i walk in after after walking the dog and she looks
up she goes hey man what's going on what's what's what's what she said she said in the liver
she goes hey man what's going on just like does she have access to max um no i don't think i mean she could
why is there something on there she should be watching or i think i think she's studying the sopranos is true
all the reruns. It's true. I'll tell you
what, here's the deal. I want a deal.
The deal is, I'll put my pajamas
on, give me a little extra ice cream.
So these are the deal
she puts together at night.
Anyway, I'll tell you,
can't refuse. An offer I can't refuse. I'll tell you
what, I guess there were a few offers
that a lot of people couldn't refuse because there's a report.
It's official, guys. We have
our cast for The Fantastic Four.
All right, this is from our buddies
over at Comic Book Movie.
The Fantastic Four, Marvel Studios.
officially announces the cast with a first poster and a new logo.
It's been a long time coming,
but Marvel Studios has finally announced the main cast for its upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.
We also have some poster art and a brand new title treatment.
This is Mark Cassidy.
We've all been anxiously awaiting a casting announcement for the Fantastic Four reboot,
and Marvel Studios has chosen Valentine's Day
to officially reveal who will be suiting up as the main heroes.
They confirmed the rumors that have been doing the rounds for quite some time.
the movie, which has been retitled
The Fantastic Four,
will star Pedro Pascal
as Reed Richards,
Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm,
Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm,
and Eben Moss Bachrock from the Bear
of course as Ben Grim, aka
The Thing. A.K.A.
Poster doesn't feature the characters
in live action, but it should give us some
idea of how they're going to look in the movie, while
also revealing the caution design.
and Herbie the reboot.
The overall aesthetic would also seem to confirm the reports that it'll have a period setting,
basically the early 60s based on this particular artwork.
It's a fantastic four poster right there that it definitely looks like a very 60s kind of old school TV thing.
And then they posted out this picture that you see on there right now with this is happy Valentine's Day on it.
So this cast, Mike, we talked about this last week, man.
We said that this is, you know, everybody knew this casting.
It's pretty much been confirmed by so many different other sources.
Snyder first reported on it.
And then the trade started to confirm it.
And then Marvel wasn't confirming.
Like, when are they going to do it?
And it's exactly, I mean, that's it.
So they finally did it.
What do you say that what do you think about the cast?
You know, it's, I don't want to say it's anticlimactic, the reveal, but I love the poster.
I thought that was a great idea.
I thought that was because I don't, trying to think back to all the casting announcements of any movie.
I don't think they've ever done that.
Because I'm sure they're going to start filming soon and the pictures are going to start leaking of them on set.
So this was a kind of way to get ahead of it.
Valentine said they couldn't wait for Comic Condo to do an announcement or D23.
So, you know, I love everyone involved as far as performance as in their individual film careers and whatnot.
Sure.
So I don't know with Johnny Storm.
Him I'm not familiar.
You don't watch Stranger Things.
So he's he was Eddie in Stranger Things.
Yeah.
No, no.
Are you raising your hand?
Hello.
Mr.
Prod.
I'm still here.
Mr. Broad,
do you need to use the restroom?
I was unfocused and God forbid that happens on the show.
I know.
I know.
I know.
And that's true.
My focus.
You need your focus.
No, but while I stole the attention.
You did.
Yeah, the last I heard, because I kind of dropped out from the updates on the fantastic
forecast was when Pedro Pascal, there was a moment where they said it was no longer happening, right?
No.
It was they they were ever since he's been rumored.
It's like, oh, it's happening.
It's just the question was, were they going to delay it at all because of his schedule?
Was it, you know, were they going to move things around?
He was, at once he was rumored, everyone's like, oh, he's locked in.
Right.
Because it's Pedro Pescal.
And I see a lot of all of the, you know, the comic books, the IGNs, the posts on it,
their comments are just like savage about him.
And there's some people defending being like, you.
You guys didn't think he was the right cast for Joel and he was amazing in that role.
So let's just see.
And I also really trust in the director when he was talking about pulling from Always Sunny in Philadelphia's chemistry and taking that kind of ideology and pulling it into the movie.
I just started it's Always Sunny.
Okay.
And my favorite part is the cast chemistry is so insane that I think if it's in the right balance, it can be really cool.
in a movie like this, but it's a property I'm not super familiar with.
So I understand that people feel attached to it.
Sure.
I mean, it's just, we've talked about this.
We don't have to get into it again, but I just, my question,
Pedro Pascall is a fantastic actor.
He's going to give you a great performance.
He's going to be a good setting.
He's going to have a good chemistry with Vanessa Kirby.
It's going to work.
The only thing that I had said up top is that, because there was rumor this is what Snyder said,
I don't know how true it is or not,
that apparently they were looking at some other people
and Feigey said the cast is too white.
We've got to do something else.
If that is the reason why you're doing it,
that's not a great reason to do.
I don't think it's fair to anybody involved
if that's what you're doing.
But who knows?
That could be just be a rumor.
Right.
Now, if the opposite side of it is like they walked in,
they said, dude, we put Pedro Pascall on tape for this,
and we know how great he is,
but he just nailed what we're looking for with Reed.
So let's let, he can free up.
He's not really going to do much on the mandolars.
And Grogo except voiceover.
So let's get them.
And that is also very possible.
But it's just I'm, you know, I'm excited for this one.
Because I think this is going to be the first iteration of this movie that is going to be as true to the comics.
The fact that they're doing it in the 60s, Mike, you got to be psyched about that, right?
I am.
I think that was the way to go with it.
I was always, I can't remember on what podcast so many years ago.
I was like, you set this thing in the 60s.
And at the very end, they get transported and arrive in the current.
day MCU and like but I'm I'm with you on the whole you know who knows if he said that about it's
too white this and that you know because if Pedro Pascal had nailed it why wasn't he one of
the first choices yeah that's what they were going with because I know they were probably looking
more traditional for the cast of it and it just didn't click for whatever reason yeah but
Adam Drive isn't she Latin uh true yeah so no one cared back then right and right so he's a phenomenal
actor. So I just enjoy anything he does.
Yeah. Yeah, he's going to bring, he's going to bring power to it. You know he will.
And it's just, and I love the, I love the other casting. I think what they did that, and another
reason why they could have gotten Pedro Piscall, which probably would make sense, as we said,
when you look at these actors that they have right now, Vanessa Kirby, great actress, great
in the Mission Apostle movies and the Crown and these other things that she's been in, she's always
great. Household name? No. Joseph Quinn.
If you don't watch Stranger Things, aka Mike, you don't know who he is.
Eben, fantastic actor, wonderful on the bear.
But he's right now, he's one of those guys are like, oh, yeah, that's the guy that's in that.
He's really good.
I like that guy.
What's his name?
Yeah.
And that's, I think, the kind of cast you need for those roles.
But when you're trying to get, you want to have two big names in there.
And I think the two big names that you need are for Reed and for Dr. Dune.
And that's going to be the next big casting.
Who's Dr. Dume?
Is that is the Dr. Doomcasting similar to the Fantastic Four in terms of you guys have a pretty good idea of who it is?
Not really.
Not one been kept more under apps.
Well, it's, there's been some rumors.
The rumors are Killian Murphy.
Um, the rumor, like, the rumor I can't stand is Mads Mickelson, not because anything against Madne Nicholson.
Mads McIllson has already been in the MCU.
Every villain.
But he's also in the MCU.
He's already one of the guys in the MCU.
It's like, you can't find anybody outside of the MCU.
there were a few other people but those are the names that kind of that I think so I'm I oh Ryan
Gosling was the other one that would be interesting I think um you don't like that one no no I like
I love Gosling I like Henry Cavill Henry Cavill's would be my pick yeah that that's that's
that'd be cool who's your pick Mike I don't have one um you know I'm I'm always with these films
I'm always I'm like cast the guy we don't know the name sells it's
to me. Like, I don't...
Does it, though? If this was the MCU
15 years ago, yeah, you need to get names attached, but
these movies sell themselves at this point.
I don't agree with that. Right now, I think, I think, I think the opposite.
I think 10 years ago you could get away with not because
the movies sell themselves. I don't think the movie sell themselves anymore because
they're not, I mean, look at, we'll talk about back
of the day, or 10, 6 years ago, you put
a comic movie out, you got a good shot of it doing pretty well.
but look at madame webb's going to eat it
the other the last few
comic book movies that have been out have eaten it
um
minus like spider man across spider verse
guardians but for the most part
I mean the marvels ate it
Aquaman barely broke even but did
better than most people thought but it didn't cross a billion
um so I don't think we're in that sweet spot anymore
I do think that you need to sell
somebody on some star power
yeah but that saying that
who are stars nowadays?
Stars and movies stars are different though.
And we're talking movies. We're not talking TV.
No, no, no. But what I mean, what I mean...
Who's out that would bring people in?
Well, I mean, I think there's a difference of saying, like, look,
and I've always talked about this where I think that back in the day,
especially when we were growing up, Mike, like you would...
There's a new Tom Cruise movie out. What is it? I don't know.
It's a Tom Cruise movie. There's a new Will Smith movie out.
All right, let's go see it. Whatever.
Like, that was a thing. That doesn't happen anymore where you're like,
oh, it's more like directors.
There's a new Nolan.
movie. You know, there's a new, like, that, that I think Greta Gerwig is starting to get there.
I think that a Jordan Peel, oh, it's a new Jordan Peel movie coming out. Like, that's coming out,
that type of stuff has come with directors and creators. But stars, what they do is, if you're
interested in a property, having them in it helps, right? So if it's like, okay, so we've got
this fantastic more movie, it's a Marvel movie, and then you're not, let's say it's someone
that's not as locked into the comic movies as we are. And they go, who's in it? So,
and so, so and so I don't know who that is. And Ryan Gossling. Oh, Gosseng's in it. I'll go,
you think it sounds interesting? I'll check it out. That type of thing can still happen.
Yeah, I agree with that. Who would you want to see it in Steph?
In the, oh, I don't know. I think Henry Cavill is cool. I just got finished with the last season of the Witcher.
I really like him as an actor. Yeah. Yeah, I want to see him in Argyle. I saw the, I went to
go see a movie last weekend and I saw
the photo up close. Did they
keep his hair like that? Yeah,
his hair's like that the whole time. But he's good
into the movie. He's just not very good.
But it's crazy how a simple thing can turn
like a good looking person
into a goof.
I mean, I was like,
I've never seen his forehead like this.
Yeah.
It's, um, the movie itself is not
great. But I'll tell you the other one that look that he's in
that looks really good is that, uh, that Guy Ritchie
movie. Yes.
And gentlemanly Warford.
Yeah, that trail looks good. He was in
the, like, a few
Guy Ritchie movies ago, right?
The gentleman, was he in that?
Yes, yes, yes. I haven't seen it.
He wasn't right? No, I didn't
see that movie. That's you, Grant, Colin
Farrell, Henry Golding.
Yeah. Okay. And Dagnino.
Dagnino's in it, too.
Degnino and
Charlie Hunnam. Oh, yeah.
Okay, well, look.
I ask you guys, Fantastic Four.
We are getting that movie now.
We have the cast.
Nobody's surprised about it, but what do you think of the cast overall?
And then with that comment, put in your recommendation of who you think should be Dr. Doom.
I know some people disagree with me and think that Matt should do it.
I just think that it's been, he's done.
Like, he's been there.
He's a go-to guy each and every time.
But I'll tell you who, you know, guys, who's been talking about wanting to play Doom, I'll tell you, it's Ben Mendlson.
And here's the story.
Okay, Ben Mendelson says he'd give his eyes and his teeth to play Dr. Doom.
This is Josh Wilding in comic book movie.
Ben Mendelsohn has already starred in Captain Marvel and Secret Invasion for Marvel Studios,
but the actor has now confirmed he's keen to bring Dr. Doom back to the big screen.
All right, so all signs point to Dr. Doom becoming one of the most franchises,
most coveted roles.
Ben Mendelsohn is no stranger to playing a bad guy after starring in the likes of Rogue One,
a Star Wars story, and Ready Player 1, but took on a heroic role in the MCU,
Captain Marvel and Secret Invasion's Talos?
Talos or Talos, Mike?
How's I go?
Talos, I don't know.
Talos?
Tomato.
You're incorrect.
The shape-shifting scroll
died in the latter series.
Oh, he did?
Whoops.
I didn't even see the movie.
I didn't even see the show.
But does that leave the door open
for him to playing other Marvel Studios characters?
He hopes so.
I'd give my eyes and my teeth to play Dr. Doom.
He tells GQ.
I think Dr. Doom is the great unread
Marvel character that could and should be done,
but it is what it is.
I got to work with Spielberg, I got to work with Terrence Malick, and I got to work with Ridley Scott.
It's been incredible.
I didn't think this ship was coming.
With Doom's scarred face likely to be remained hidden behind the mask, there's a good chance that he could get a second chance as the villain.
However, we bet on Marvel Studios looking for another big game who is new to the franchise to take on the role.
After all, he's not the only one who's expressed interest in playing Doom.
Last year, John Hamm threw his name in the mix.
And Doom isn't expected to play a significant role in the Fantastic Four movie.
hearing the villain will only appear in a post-credit scene.
There were rumblings about Marvel Studios replacing Kang the Conqueror with Doom for the remainder of the multiverse saga, but that never really made sense.
Instead, the plan is to put Kang on the back burner for now before replacing Jonathan Majors with a different actor.
They also said that Javier Bardem is being eyed to play Galactus.
And I'm trying to think there's another thing that Ben Mendel said about Krennick that I want to get to real quick.
All right.
So as we know, this is from Dark Horizons.
The filming has a wrap on second season of Andor,
ahead of a premiere expected in 2025.
As we know, the series is going to lead up to Rogue One,
and so it's expected more elements from that film
will be incorporated into the show's second season.
We already saw Saw Sawaguerre in the first season.
Thus, speculation has been high
that will see others like Ben Mendelsohn playing Orson Crennic.
Mendelsohn is open to such appearances,
having done a voice cameo in the Bad Batch.
However, out to impress for the new Apple series, the new look, the Australian actor seemed to nix any chance of a new live-action chronic appearance in Andrus, saying, telling Italian outlet bad taste this week.
As for being contacted by Lucasville for a new project, I can tell you no.
I have not been approached for something like this, and yes, it would be great to see him again somewhere, but for now, everything stops here.
As far as I'm concerned, I would be very willing to explore it further and significantly in that world.
I've never expected to play a character like that, but then again, I never expected to become an actor either.
For me, they're all wonderful things.
I think Krennick has a tremendous amount of things left to give the audience.
What you need to understand about a character like Krennick is that if he had the chance,
he would have tried to take over the entire game.
And it seems to me that this aspect has not been explored sufficiently.
Okay.
So let's start there with Krenik.
Do you buy this, Steph?
Because you don't remember back in the day when we were talking, we had a whole episode,
you and I where we said
Liam Neeson is a liar
because he said he was not in
Canobey he said he was not going to be in that show
he hadn't been asked at all
and then he lied and he was in it
and we knew he was going to be in and he lied
is this the same thing what do you think
I feel like
Ben Mendelso
might be a mischievous man
but I feel like he's less so than
Liam Neeson
so I'm not sure but
Yeah, it kind of sounds truthful.
He's good.
He's a good actor.
Yeah, I don't know.
I'm kind of believing it.
What do you think?
From one actor to the next, Mike, what do you think?
Is he telling the truth?
It's hard.
This is a tough one.
I don't know.
But I think he should be dead.
I think he should stay dead.
He's dead.
What the hell are you talking about?
He's not dead in the Andor.
Not in Andor.
What's talking about and or?
Is he going to show up in andor?
You dope?
Yeah.
Give 100%.
So you think he's lying?
Yeah.
Okay. Perfect.
We brought Badbatch in there for a second.
I'm trying to, I was getting my, I'm not confused my timelines and where we are.
I know, I get it.
He's 100% coming back.
Yeah.
I think it would be a major error if they didn't bring him back.
But he's a major part of this part of Star Wars for this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's true.
Yeah.
I agree.
They'll probably, it'd be weird if they didn't bring him back that he just sounded very
believable.
He started super convincing.
I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.
He's an actor.
I know. I don't. He lies for a living.
100%. And that's why I posed a question in the first place, but he's, he's much better at it than Liam Neeson is in the answer that he gave because he gives such a detailed answer.
Now, you could look at it two ways. You can go, whoa, he really knows the character and he's bummed that he can't talk, that he can't play the character.
Or he just played the character again. And all that's still fresh in his head, because that's the stuff that he wants to do.
So it's like, oh, I don't know, because Ben Mendlinson is so good. And I will also a couple,
say that if he is in it, he should be lying.
He absolutely should be lying.
And if he's lying in this way, I have even more respect for him as an actor because
he's going to fall, he fooled the hell out because I'm with you stuff.
I went, well, maybe he's telling the truth.
And they never tricked me on this stuff.
Like I knew, like, even when I said, because people will still bring up, but back
in the day, I say, well, Matt Smith is lying.
He said, oh, I'm not in Star Wars.
And then he admitted recently he was supposed to play a character in it.
and then they cut the scenes, whatever it was too,
but he was supposed to be in it.
He had signed a deal, and that was, so he was in it.
But there are people that are supposed to be in these movies
that need to be in these movies.
Kranick is one of them, for sure.
Yes.
And then as far as the Doom thing goes,
I don't know, I guess I'll throw the back to you, Mike.
What about him for Doom?
What do you think?
No.
How come?
Because he's been in the MCU.
Yeah.
Like, that's the point blank, like,
I mean, hey, he says he loves Doom.
I'm sure they came in with Talos and he's like,
there's this character.
Like, if you're an actor like him that's always working and in demand,
I say,
hey,
I want to join you guys,
but I got to hold back.
Yeah.
You're going to get to Doom eventually.
That's who I want to play.
Come back to me in five, six years when you guys are doing Doom because I'll knock
out of the park for you.
Let's start talking that.
Like, he's of an actor caliber where I think you have those conversations.
You don't,
his agent's like,
hey, Marvel's here.
You got to take this gig.
I could be completely wrong
I say this
I was thinking about this Christian bail to me
Yeah
He would be doom
He would kill it
But he's been in it too
I know
Yeah
He wasted himself
And like again
He might not have known doom
Or known what it was one
But like he would have
So you're wasting
You don't you're not wasting these actors
I shouldn't say that
But I know what you mean though
I know Mads Mikulsen
Everyone wants him for this
But it's like
Kcellius and Dr. Strange
It's like
Yeah
And actually
These actors are working, the phone's always ringing for them.
And let me answer that, let me answer the, and let me answer the, and let me answer the comment that clearly was already typed in to the comment section.
I get it.
His face is hidden.
You're not going to see him.
I don't buy that.
I get it.
We don't know how.
In secret wars, they reveal his face at one point.
I say this, like, if they're telling the 60s and, and I've, I, when Fox came to Marvel and there was all the talk of the MCU, like, I really wasn't for that.
I was like, you know, I don't, Spider-Man's been done and I love how it is.
and the X-Men, I think, are great.
But the Fantastic Four property, that was the one I was like,
you know what, I want to see the MCU and Figi handle the Fantastic Four.
So knowing him and what they're going to do,
they are,
I can't see them not having Doom and Reed be best friends.
Right.
Because their friendship is what is the Fantastic Four.
And I could see, look, I could see.
Why Doom is so, him and Reed.
So you've got to have them together without makeup.
Right.
As a flashback or something.
It's just growing up in college students.
Right.
You have to have that.
So,
This is the thing with that because Pedro Pascall is like 46 or 47 or whatever he is.
So Doom is going to be closer in that age range.
But Ben Mendelsohn is 54, 55.
So if you're going to have Doom, you're going to have them for at least five to 10 years.
These guys are going to be playing Doom when he's 60 years old, 65.
And maybe.
I'm sure they'll probably deage them, if they do the aging.
If they, if they do their young yourself.
Sure. Sure.
But, but, but I mean, physical.
He's.
Yeah, I don't know.
He's not just going to show up in them.
He's not going to be in the end.
see you with a mask on the whole time. They're going to show his face all the time. Dude,
give me cavil. Give me cavil. That was a good one. That's a good one.
Has Johnny Depp been in them to you? Um, no, but I, but I, but I, I'm not saying that I'm,
that out of there. No, what, who he's not, I don't think he's acting anymore, but he is. He's
acting, yeah, he's got a new movie coming. Oh, he is. Yeah, he's got any more. Okay. What are we
going to do just not act, we're going to act like he's not one of the best actors ever?
I'm not
I like them
but there you've got to admit it's like
they're not going to do it
they're not going to do it it
it's just hard not to think of him
when you're thinking of like
someone who could play like
a smart he could have done it
I think that right now
they'll probably stay away from that he'll start
I think he's going to start building himself up
you know with other movies and doing other things
in the way that like you know Mel Gibson's still doing
movies you know like right so
and he's built up and Mel Gibson's
in some big movies since all of that stuff.
He's problematic, but
I see Johnny Depp doing what Nick Cage
does and just these
crazy films, these weird films
and just more fun, not too.
He'll get another one. He'll get another big
budget movie, but it's just going to, I think it'll take
you think so? Yeah, I think, I don't know about
tomorrow, but I think that, I think eventually
he'll get another movie. We're about the day after tomorrow.
Part two.
28 days later. Yeah.
So, I don't know. And the same way that
I don't, and we didn't really mention the Killian
Murphy part of talk. I love killing Murphy. Don't think he's the right cast for doom.
Oh yeah. He's so great. I love. I think that's a great choice. And Marvel likes to do that
when people are writing the Oscar books. They did that with Stephen June. They like to get in there
before that price jacks up on these actors. You know who would have been great as doom, but obviously
no way is down. Downey would have been great to. No. You don't think Daniel would have a great
doom? Nope. Too too to smarky. You have to have like an air of of like an aristocracy like a
a royalty vibe about like that cat in the background like oh shit fuck i lost my train go damn it
damn it man i forgot me oh let me no no no you're good who do you think let me ask you guys this
based on current box office and current just status yeah who do you think is like let's say they
cast um cavil is doom uh who do you think it's billing and who makes more money pager or cavil
Pedro.
Yeah.
Yes.
Really?
Easily.
Let me ask you this.
Why?
What film franchises is Pedro headlining?
Doesn't matter.
It's about headlines right now and it's also about star powers and you look at success, right?
Right now, Henry Cavill is beloved by the, by the community.
No doubt.
He's just not beloved.
He hasn't captured the box office yet.
And even with Man of Steel, which made a significant on money, he was looking.
as a disappointment because it didn't make a billion dollars, right? You're right. I mean, yeah,
I get it. And I, look, I've been talking about, he's my, he's my first choice. Now,
if you ask me Gosling or Pedro, I'm going to have to go Gosling. Gosling, if they wanted
him, he was Johnny Storm. He's too old. His personality, he's a little older for Johnny,
but his personality is Johnny Storm. Agreed, but I mean, but he's, look, he can play,
he can play dark, you know, I don't know. But Dr. Doom was not some,
guy from California.
He's,
you know,
you got a,
you get European,
you get a European actor,
because I'll say this,
they,
they,
they are going after,
and again,
it's just the Twitter bubbles.
They want some of Romani descent,
because,
you know,
they don't use the word,
it's not gypsy,
but of Romani descent,
they're like,
that same thing that,
you know,
went after Moon Night's not being Jewish enough.
Okay.
So,
yeah,
and it's out there.
It's small,
but it's the Twitter world.
It is bound to happen.
But we ask you, guys, think about it.
Ben Mendelsohn.
Let's start with the Krennic.
Does he come back as Krennick?
Will he be in Indoor Season 2?
I'm going to say yes.
I think Steph is siding on yes,
even though we both kind of believe Mendelsohn and Mike is a hard yes.
So what do you guys think?
Will he show up?
Is he right for Doom?
Again, who's your choice for Doom?
Make sure and you check it out.
You don't want Doom in the bedroom.
You want it to be nice and you want Bluchu to help you out.

And we've talked about fume before.
You guys, you guys know, we've talked about fume.
We've had fume on and we're glad that they are back.
It's great.
And Mark Riley is the one who's really been talking this thing up.
And I can't wait for him to talk about it even more so on the show when he's on for
UAP.
And he's just talking about how flavorful it was better than he thought.
it feels very fresh and it's like a refreshing herbal tea but if it was vapor uh it was
you can look at like sticky soda it's it's it's really good it's it's well-weighted it's perfectly
balanced it's extremely fun to fidget with and it really look at the the wood itself it's
great you can start the year off right with the good habit by going to tryfume.com
slash big thing, getting the journey pack today. Fume is giving listeners to the show 10% off when

They use delicious flavors.
And that's why I got involved.

They're great.
So thank you again to Fume for sponsoring the show.

It helps out the show tremendously.
So, all right, here we go. Next story. All right, let's get to this because not good news for Dakota Johnson
and this movie, Madame Webb, as they call it.
What is that coming from, Madame?
Me, me. I said it when I was, I was, I was,
I was, you know, he's doing this guy. This guy was walking around, and he's talking about all the movies he's going to see.
And Madame Webb was not on my most anticipated list, as they say in certain parts of France.
The Madame Webb reviews are in.
The reviews for Madam Webb, the latest title in the Sony Pictures universe of Marvel characters, following the two Venom films and Morbius,
63 reviews thus far on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film sits at a truly astonishing, woeful 16%.
which is actually just the tiniest fraction ahead of Morbius at 15% and way behind the Venom films which are 30% and 57%.
Nothing about the film has been singled out for praise with many reviewers having great fun unloading on the movie's multiple flaws and calling it the worst kind of major studio-driven filmmaking.
Here's a sample of some of the review quotes. Today I owe Morbius an apology because it turned out that Sony Pictures just needed a little bit more time and a whole lot of misplaced confidence.
to make an even worse, Spidey spinoff,
the astoundingly abysmal, Madam Webb,
it's Barry Hertz.
It is the cats of the movie superhero movies.
Not a single decision seems of sound mind.
Not a single performance feels in sync with the material.
David Fear, Rolling Stone.
Not only is it the latest addition to the Marvel Canon
lacking a true emotional core.
It's a devoid of many key elements
that make a movie successful in the translation
from the screen to the audience of Psyche.
Let's see, there's anybody here that I know.
I want to read.
No, nobody.
Anyway, everybody just says the same thing.
It stinks.
And I don't even know who said that it was good, but they say it stinks.
But I'll tell you, the other one is that Bob Marley, apparently, is poised to beat it in the theater.
So let me read that.
Again, Dark Horizons here.
Box office, Bob Marley, is going to beat Madam Webb.
The musical biopic, Bob Marley, One Love, is expected to easily beat Madam Webb.
for the upcoming six-day stretch running from the Valentine's Day tomorrow through the President's Day holiday.
One love is expected to hover around 30, 35 million over the period, whereas Madam Webb is on track for 20 to 25 million.
One Love costs 70 million to produce and so far has received dismal reviews at just 37% of rotten tomatoes.
Even so, it's reportedly outselling Madam Webb by a two-to-one audience in advance ticket sales.
No reviews are out for Matter Web.
That's not true.
That was the old one.
Okay, the box office is expected to remain dead until Dune Part 2.
comes out. So, and then there was also another report where, um, Dakota Johnson's been doing
everything she can to try to promote the movie. Things haven't been going that great with certain
things she's been talking about and like the, the, the gif that was going around about the,
the spiders and the Amazon and all that stuff. She was, right, lines not even in the movie
apparently. That's what they said. The other thing is they, so Josh Horowitz, are, my buddy and
former Schmoan out competitor. He, um, he had her on the show and he's like, can you name,
the three Tom Holland movies.
And she didn't even try.
She was just like, oh, yeah, Spider-Man is here.
Spider-Man is-Man.
Yeah, she was Spider-Man.
It was funny.
Yeah, it was funny.
Spider-Man is here.
But she clearly doesn't give two shits about this, clearly.
And she's like, why take the gig, man?
Because I don't, because I think that they changed and went through so many different things
where at one point they told her it said, you don't have to know about this stuff
because it doesn't connect anymore.
We're not getting to Tom Holland, didn't it?
I mean, hey, I'm not one that turns out a gig if I were to give one.
But if someone said, this is Madam Webb and this is who you're going to replaying, I go, this is an 80-year-old woman in a chair.
How am I doing this?
And that should have been the problem from the beginning.
Like the Madam Webb, this is like, what the fuck are you doing, man?
I know.
I say this.
I always say this.
And I always try to give the benefit of the doubt.
I always say a studio, you never, filmmakers never set out to make a bad movie.
Right.
I don't know now.
I saw a clip
she's running towards a car
and then it's edited to look like
she's saving herself in the car
the way that the editing does.
Who did this?
I don't know.
I'm going to I'm actually seeing the level of like
incompetence of this editing
in this movie. I'm like, who did this?
I have for nothing. I don't even know who the
13% was that liked it. What they liked about it.
I didn't see. But I am
I was like to go in positive so you
never know. So I never like to say anything negative.
about anything before I go in, so I'm going to see this piece of shit later.
Oh my God.
Did you even see it yet?
No, I was supposed to see it.
I was actually supposed to see it on Monday.
And then I have, we have an interview for next Tuesday show that we shot on the other
side of town and I just wouldn't have been able to make it.
So I bought a ticket for it and I'm going to see it today at 3 o'clock.
So I'll do an out of the theater reaction afterwards.
But I'm not, I mean, I'm not expecting anything.
I like her a lot, though.
I mean, Steph, what do you think about that outfit she wore at the
you see that thing I thought the entire cast came in hot they really understood the assignment
really it was like very this would be spider women woman off duty outfit that outfit was those
outfits were insane they were in max I'm older and I guess I didn't I'm beyond or knowing
Sydney Sweeney but that outfit at the premiere I know that's the plot of the movie
I'm a fan.
Yeah, right.
See, like, every guy's obsessed with Sidney, and I get it.
But I, I'm very sad about this movie being so bad.
Yeah.
I haven't seen it yet, but it just is like.
Yeah.
Of course, you root for it.
You want it to be good.
And the time travel stuff, you're hoping it's going to be good.
But I always cross my fingers, and I like to be the one that comes out and goes, hey, you know what?
Wasn't that bad.
What that bad?
I mean, we're all terrible, but I doubt.
Looking past the thing that they're making a universe out of Spider-Man.
They're not doing that.
Why do we keep going in these films?
But dude, stop.
They weren't even doing, that was the whole point.
That was what's so crazy about this movie.
I totally believe the report.
And especially, I think it was Snyder that reported on it.
Maybe not, but I think it was.
But the report was that at first, they said, okay, look, we've got Andrew Garfield in the
family already, right?
Let's put his Spider-Man as the Spider-Man in this universe.
And then they go, no, no, no, no, people want to see Tom Holland.
So we'll write Tom Holland and it'll be Tom Holland Spider-Rine.
No, no, no, we can't.
Let's just make this all in the 90s.
Oh, our timing's off.
We have to re-edit the whole thing now.
And it just looks sloppy and crazy, but they don't even know what they did.
And then the director goes, oh, yeah, none of this, this is a total stay-alone movie.
It has nothing to do with anything.
But why?
If you're doing a spiderverse, inside the Spider-Verse, what are you doing?
You have no clue.
Yeah, that's weird.
It was a mess.
The movie's a mess.
You can tell.
I haven't seen it.
It's a mess.
but it brings up the bigger question of what Mike just said
and I'm going to actually have a longer conversation
with Roxy about this tomorrow
is this and should this minus
into the Spider-verse movies
should they just give it up
they won't but should Sony just say
we don't know how to do this
we're going to stop now or will they keep trying
Mike what do you think? What do you think?
Absolutely because
there was an article the other day
I forgot who was doing it.
It's like they're not creatives running studios anymore.
There are people that see numbers and spreadsheets and they see the name Spider-Man that they could attach.
It's like they just announced the GI Joe and Transformers movie.
Oh, did they?
Okay.
I love GI Joe.
Like you don't understand.
Like I find value in the first two films, especially the third.
But that producer, Bonaventura, he's a producer, man.
And he's going to keep making these.
And he's not the guy for G.I. Joe, man.
Nope.
And the ship has sailed on G.I. Jovers Transformers.
That was 10 years ago when Bay was hitting out of the park, whether they were good or not.
Now there's a diminishing returns, like Beast Wars, like, you know, is that what it was called Beast Wars?
Bumblebee was awesome.
Bumblebee was awesome.
And we'll talk about this.
It was great, but it was the fact that it was so moved on and just didn't do well.
Yeah.
Well, G.I. Joe's also.
Well, G.I. Joe is also not the established brand that should be.
what they should do with G.A. Joe, and I have been screaming into the void, apparently, about this.
But I assume that you were, too, Mike. Maybe I'm wrong. But I was my first comic that I really, well, X-Men,
but my first comic that I got obsessed with as a kid was the Marvel run of G.I. Joe.
Yeah, classic.
And so, like, the first, like, I think it was like 60 or 65 issues of that comic is, like,
the fact that they have not explored that is crazy. I'll say why.
Crazy.
Crazy.
That's exactly why.
Because the fact that it's called G.I. Joe, a real American hero.
They are terrified of making a military movie glorifying the military.
And again.
But it's not, though.
When you look at Snake Guys, when you look at Snake Guys' real story?
They see guys in jeeps and tanks with guns, you know, like La, raw America.
They'd see that.
And it doesn't need to be that.
No.
But, but dude, when they did, but the dark story of what happened between actual Storm Shadow.
I didn't even watch the Snake Eyes movie because it looked,
it looked nothing like what I,
what I saw.
How they made that Snake Eyes movie and did what they did and not just do what the comics did?
It's crazy.
It's mind-boggling to me.
And he could talk in the movie, couldn't he?
He talked,
bowed silence and his face was beautiful and it's just like,
his face gets blown off in like Vietnam.
But you see that,
you see the people attached and you're just like,
you don't understand the property.
Passing to someone that does.
You could do a full-on TV show with each one of those issues.
Anyway, we go on and on and on about this.
But like, but speaking of Travis Knight,
this is the only time I've been excited about He-Man.
So let me tell you about this.
Travis Knight, who to me, minus the animated movie,
made the best Transformers movie,
not even a question, not even a question.
The long-awaited Masters of the Universe film
has scored some new life today.
As like a studio chief and film director,
Travis Knight is reportedly in final negotiations
to direct the movie.
And deadline broke the news, saying the deal has still not closed and other elements on the project
are still coming together.
But the Coobo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee director is very much the top choice to take the help.
Chris Butler is reportedly writing the script from an initial draft written by David Callahan
and Aaron and Adam Neat.
In addition, Amazon MGM Studios is in final negotiations for the rights to the project
and Mattel's Robbie Brenner and escape artist Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal to produce.
the film will be based on the 1980s he-man
and the master's universe cartoon
which unfolds on the planet of Eternia
a land of magic and tech.
The story follows Prince Adam,
the young son of attorney as rulers
King Randor and Queen Marlena
who can transform into He-Man
the most powerful man in the universe.
He uses his power to offend Attrnia
from the evil forces of Skeletor
who wish to conquer
the mysterious fortress of Castle Grey-Skill.
All right.
So this to me,
I have like, so I'll give a,
I always do this every time a He-Man story.
And Steph, are you,
I probably haven't if I do, I apologize, but are you familiar with my story with He Man at all or no?
I don't think so.
And so the, yeah, Mike, go ahead.
Is it, did you, was it you and Riley that did the treatment too that you passed to me?
Yeah.
I've read a treatment.
I think that I know Riley was involved, I thought was you two.
Yeah, so what happened was I was working at Silver Pictures and, and again, apologies to people
who've heard this story a thousand times, but I just think it's relevant for kind of the evolution
of this story.
I was working at Silver Pictures.
I'd already brought in my friends, Janiceyn and Strickland,
who had written a draft of this Wonder Woman script
that they passed to me, I read it,
gave it to Susan Downey, who really liked it,
brought it to studio, they went up getting rid of Josh Wooden's script,
they were already having problems with it,
and they started working on them.
So I had good favor with the company at that point
for bringing in Jenison and Strickland,
and they bought this Wonder Woman script,
so I was starting to kind of move up in the company from doing this.
And then I started to read it.
reading these scripts and John Wu was doing the
He Man Masters of the Universe movie at one point.
So do you guys, are you familiar with what turnaround is?
Yeah.
So the turnaround for people who don't know,
it's when a script comes in and the studio has it,
but it's in turnaround, meaning that another studio,
if you want it, you can, it's basically,
it's like free agency, you can get it now
because the rights are coming up for it,
so it can turn around.
So I ran, I was a big,
he man Masters of Universe fan as a kid
And I always thought that if he did it, Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars,
and they did a 2002 version on Cartoon Network that I thought to this day,
and I grew up on the 80s one, but the 2002 is the best iteration of that.
It shows it takes it seriously.
It's got great lore behind it, explains the sword, explains all of it.
It's the best series for sure.
And I was like, that's how you need to do the movie.
So that came about, and the script by John Wu was atrocious.
That was atrocious.
Did he write the script?
I think it was him and somebody else,
but it was atrocious.
It was like,
Heeman and Tila
talking about getting cheeseburgers
and it was bad
and so much so that I had to present this to Susan
and she's like, this is terrible.
I said, yes, this script is terrible,
but it could be a mass of franchise.
And she's like, I don't know.
And it was a hard sell
because the script was so bad.
I was like, but here's what I need to do.
I need to go and I need to figure out
how to really bring this apart.
And Jenison and Strickland at the time
we're working on that Wonder Woman thing.
So I went to Riley, and I wrote this whole massive treatment,
this big treatment that was Lord of the Rings, meet Star Wars.
And we went to Naveen McAlargy, who's been on this show before,
and he's like, it's going to be hard to get to Susan,
but you should try, like maybe go to some of the companies
like the Village Road shows and other places
to see if we can get financing with it first,
and then it's an easier pitch to bring in.
It's like, it makes sense.
So I went to my buddy Fred, who was over at Village Road Show at the time,
and he was working for a particular executive.
I won't say he was like,
I don't think that they're going to get this,
thing, but so I'm going to have to, I just don't think that they're going to get it.
So maybe you go to legendary.
So I went to legendary and there was this guy who was working there.
And I had a good relationship with him.
We sat down and we had a, and Riley and I worked with him on this thing for, I don't know,
it must have been a month every day.
And out of nowhere.
He's like, oh, we're working on the new Conan and it's too similar so we can't do it anymore.
I was out of nowhere.
I was like, oh, okay.
So then I tell him, Naveed, I'm like, let's do the genesis and Strickland.
Let's get them involved.
so we start working on our treatment with them.
So I'm sitting in Naveed's office, and we get a phone call.
And it's like, hey, it's from Justin Marks, agent, who wrote the new Top Gun.
Justin Marks, I always say this when I bring him up.
Couldn't be a greater guy.
Very talented dude.
One of the best.
Love Justin Marks.
Love, love Justin Marks.
His agent calls and says, Justin's working on this new treatment that was brought to him
by this Neil over at a legendary.
the guy that we had sat with and worked for for about a month.
And the guy basically ripped it off and took it.
And so I almost ran out of the thing to try to choke this guy out.
But anyway, and it turned out that they started working on it.
I was so mad at that whole situation, the reason this all relevant is because this guy was going to be part of the project.
And they had offered me another position at Silver, which I was very generous.
And I just decided at that point I wanted to move on.
I would focus on stand-up and do other things.
And I left, I went up leaving the company and I didn't, and I left the, I said,
I don't want to work on this project if this guy's working on it.
I'm out.
So I just left it.
And then I kept hearing about all the meetings, though, they did not know what to do with it.
They couldn't figure it out because there was a purple tiger.
They thought it was ridiculous.
They didn't know.
I had, there's one executive that came in, they showed all these boards, and you're like,
this is Monmernia, whatever he called it instead of attorney.
I didn't even know the names of it.
It was embarrassing.
And, and then that was in, like, 2006.
2007.
Since then, there have been so many attempts to try to get this movie made in the science
versus magic area, and they can't do it.
And the casting hasn't been good.
And the directors they've been announcing have been terrible.
This is the only time so far when a director has been announced, I said, this guy might
get it.
Because when they opened up Bumblebee, Ellis and I saw that movie together, was like,
where's this been?
This is the Transformers.
This is Transformers.
This is it.
This guy gets it.
So it was a very long road to get to the fact that I think Travis Knight is the guy.
But, Steph, did you see Bumblebee?
Did you like Bumblebee?
Yeah, I loved Bumblebee.
I thought it was really good and surprisingly good.
I think that it's, I don't know what they should have named it,
but I think I didn't see it in theater because I was confused.
They didn't name it Transformers.
Yeah, which I, so you think they should have named it.
It should have been Transformers, Bumblebee.
Yeah, okay, totally.
Because as a non-transformers kid, I was like, who the hell is Bumblebee?
Right.
And why would I watch a movie called Bumblebee?
Yep.
And then when I saw it, I was like, oh, this is good.
Really good.
Really good.
Haley Steinfeld, right?
She is another actor where she's just taking over every franchise.
She's awesome.
I'll watch her in anything.
She's really good.
But Mike, do you think Travis Knight is the right guy for Master's Universe?
I love Travis Knight.
Like, when he was, and it's so disappointed me,
I just read a big article on, I think it was the rap or something,
about $6 million man,
which is a property that I'm dying.
Like, that was my childhood.
But he was attached to that for a while.
And when he was attached to that,
I was like, oh, we're finally going to move forward on this film.
Right, right.
And then he dropped out.
So he gets it.
Like, I watched interviews with him with Laika and the studio.
Like, he's just a fee.
To me, he has the potential to be a Lord and Miller.
Yeah.
But he just loves making movies
and there's just kind of this passion for it.
So if he's attached to something that
he's passionate about, let him run, let him go.
I agree with you. I think he's
phenomenal, really looking forward to seeing him and do.
I hope it happens. It seems
it's almost the Masters of Universe property as far as
a live action almost seems cursed
like the crow, you know.
Now is it set up at Netflix?
Because wasn't it?
It seems like it. Noa Centino was at Netflix for a while?
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
But there was somebody else.
There was somebody else, too, that
that was supposed to, that's what it said.
There was another guy after Centrino that was attached.
Yeah.
And two brothers or two best friends that were directing?
Yeah, it was, I think the guys that wrote the actual script.
Did you like Kevin Smith's Revelations and Revolution?
So I watched, I watched the first half of it.
I need to watch the second half.
I liked parts of it.
I liked, like, I didn't lose my mind the way other people lost their minds when a certain
thing happens in the first half.
And I was like, yeah, well, he clearly not going to keep that because that wouldn't make any sense.
I that to me of I think it was 2020
yeah of all the things that came out
2020 that was the one that surprised me the most
and I had the most fun watching I love that show
okay that was great great you know it
our friend Tiffany Smith said that show you should
you should but you should watch if you can find it Mike the 2002
of course I watched that was the best
come on I had all the figures and everything the 2002
two thousand two version step have you seen it
2000 X they call it do you have you seen it
Steph, the 2002.
No.
It's from Cartoon Network.
And to show you, because you're like, oh, you asked me to watch something, you haven't watched that?
I did watch the Shogun trailer.
I watched it because you told me to.
So I did watch it.
I liked it a lot.
It looks great.
So I did like it a lot.
So I'm telling you, you got to find an episode of the 2002 Cartoon Network one because they really
explore the science fiction aspect and they explain why this, like, this sword is able to do what it does.
comes from like a lineage of of human not just like randomly it's been happening for thousands of
years and this kid happens to get it and find the sort of this this round so I hope one with two
seasons I think it has two seasons yeah 2002 I think it's on prime so these three seasons is it three
or three whatever the last season they do the snake man okay well so it would be yeah it's from it's from
cartoon network and it's 2002 so if that's if that's the one that you're finding then that's
that's it um I ask you guys what do you think Travis Knight
Is it the way to go?
Do you think that it can work?
Do you think that He-Man, the Masters universe could work?
And should it be the version that I'm talking about?
Should it be Lord of the Rings meet Star Wars?
Or should they go a little bit more goofy with it?
What do you think?
Go ahead and comment.
Tell me what you think.
I also am very excited to say, and I know Steph didn't know this yet, but I'm going to tell her,
not only do we have rocket money back, but Steph, you know who's back?
Who?
Zbiotics.
Oh.
I know you love Zbiotics.
Yes.
Very important.
You're very important.
So I'm going to tell you guys both about rocket money, Zibiotics right now.
Here you go.
So let me also tell you this.
I can tell you a rocket money before we move on.
I'm going to tell you about rocket money, guys.
Rocket money to me is just, I've told you so many times,
and you guys have heard me talk about rocket money.
Rocket money I've been using now, I think, oh man,
it's got to be at least almost two years now.
You're going to have two years.
And so what Rocket Money does is, you know,
you have those subscriptions that you,
that you have and you haven't been paying attention to them.
And you're like, oh, that app looks amazing.
I'm going to do that app.
Oh, it's a free trial period?
Great.
30 days.
I got it.
I'll remember.
You don't remember.
And then they start charging you $7, $17, $37, $37, $37, $37, $37, $37.
And you're like, whoa, when did that happen?
Well, Rocket money does is they tell you about all the subscriptions that you have and everything
that you have.
And they go, no, you want that, you need that.
Don't do that.
They tell you how much money you spent the week before.
They tell you how much money you're spending in general.
They tell you when you have things coming up, when you got bills coming up, you can link everything to it.
It is a lifesaver.
I love Rocket Money.
I checked it this morning.
So, okay, remember, you have this, this and this.
Hey, even unauthorized thing, did you do that?
I said, yep, I did do that.
Okay, great.
There you go.
They can check your credit, everything.
Rocketmoney.com slash big thing.
It is so good.
I put the link in the description, by the way, RocketMoney.
com slash Big Thing.
And you will thank me for that.
I love Rocket Money.
Um, ziobiotics, by the way, if you guys don't know, oh, it's the, it's, it's, it's great because I, I mean, what you can relate to, John, is we, we can't, we can't do it the way we used to.
No, those days are done.
But they are fantastic, because it's really a game changing product.
Um, for me, I, I always use it a night out when I'm drinking.
And because it's, it's, it's biotics.
And so I just can't bounce back the way that I used to.
I got to make a choice.
I can either have a great night or a great next day.
And that is until I found Zibiotics.
And I'll tell you, there's a surefire way to wake up and feel fresh after a night of drinking.
And it is with Zbiotics.
So what is it?
Okay, I'm glad you asked.
Now I'm going to tell you.
Zibiotics is a pre-alcohol probiotic drink.
It is the world's first genetically engineered probiotic.
Steph Sabral loves these, by the way.
It was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
And here's how it works.
When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct in your gut.
It's this byproduct, not dehydration.
That is to blame for your rough next day.
Zbiotics produces an enzyme to break down this byproduct down.
Just remember to make Zbiotics your first drink of the night.
Drink responsibly and you'll feel your best tomorrow.
And I'll tell you, right before I knew I was going to drink a couple of glasses of wine last night, John.
So I had some Zibiotics every time I have it right before I, I,
do notice a difference the next day. I'm just, I'm able to go. Even after a night out or a night
of having, having some fun, I can confidently plan on doing all these shows and being able to work.
I didn't have anything like I said, no, not foggy, nothing. Because I was on the fence about it at first, too,
because then I was hanging out with, um, Steph and she was telling me about it. And I was,
okay, I'll do it. I'll give it a shot. And believe me, guys, it's the real deal. So I gave it a try,
especially yesterday. It's amazing.
And go and do it. You go to Zbiotics.com
slash big thing. You'll get 15%
off your first order when you use Big Thing at checkout.
Zbiotics is backed with 100% money-back guarantee.
So if you are unsatisfied for any reason,
they're going to refund your money with no questions asked.
So remember to head to Zbiotics.com slash Big Thing.
Use that code, Big Thing at checkout for 15% off.
Thank you to Zbiotics for sponsoring this episode
and for the good times for sure.
All right, thank you to Z biotics, Rocket Money.
Links are in the description.
I cannot recommend both highly enough.
They're so good.
Steph, did you do some drinking during the Super Bowl?
Yes.
Yes.
And did you use the Zbiotics?
Of course.
You have to because it is.
And how great did you feel the next day?
I feel very perfect like usual because I stay on my probiotics.
Z-probiotics. Yeah, 100%. It is so good, and I recommend it highly to people. I'm so glad
that they're back. They came back. They're going to be back with us. And if you guys, you check
them out, let us know what you think. Are we going to like two more stories here, and then we'll
call it a day. Steph, me and you, we loved Godzilla minus one. I don't know, Mike, did you see
it yet? I did. I loved it. Oh, okay. You loved it. We all loved it. Who didn't love that movie?
Who didn't love that movie? Who didn't love that movie? Well, you know who loved that movie?
Who? Who? Loved it. There are many fans of
Godzilla minus one, including one of the most famous filmmakers of all time.
Yamazaki recently posted on Twitter a photo of himself alongside legendary filmmaker Stephen Spielberg.
It seems the pair talked to the event with Spielberg revealing he had seen the recent
Kaiju film three times. Yamazaki says in his post,
I've met God. What am I going to do with all this? I'm seriously crying.
And Spielberg saw my movie three times. He told me he liked the characters in the film.
I gave him a Godzilla figure and he was so happy when he took it.
The news marks the icing on the cake for the Japanese filmmaker and visual effects supervisor
whose film has taken in over 106 million worldwide, and it's the first Godzilla film to receive an Academy Award nomination.
It was also astonishing revealed in an LA Times piece last week that only 25 to 33% of the film's sub-15 million budget went into much-aclaimed visual effects.
The film unfolds in post-war Japan, which at its lowest point, when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster baptized in the horrific power of the authorities,
atomic bomb, a USP-V-O-D, V-O-D, and a disrelease date for the film has not yet been announced.
Here is the picture, and here is the picture of the two together at the, I don't know which event
is.
Well, there's Bob Iker in the back, hilarious.
So this is great news in general, because I'm glad that this dude is getting the recognition
that he rightly deserves.
To me, this is some of the best.
I think this film should be studied by Hollywood.
I really do.
I think it should be studied in the way to make Blockbuster films, and I know.
know the comments will come about well yeah the the budget the budgets are different in japan than
they are here because of work rules and all that i get it but the movie still would have only cost
even if it's a hundred million even if it's a hundred million they would they would have spent
three hundred four hundred million did you guys see the con and uh and godzilla trailer the new one that
came out yeah yeah it it looks like a big fun summer movie that probably cost two hundred fifty
million dollars to make it's going to have no substance in it whatsoever it'll be fun and
I'm not crapping on those movies.
I think that they're fun to watch, but there's no substance to it.
You won't care about any of the characters in the human characters at all.
You're just going to be waiting for the monsters to punch each other in the face.
And that's what they do with all these big blockbuster movies.
And this movie proves.
It proves you can have it all.
But, Steph, what do you think about all of this?
The fact that Spielberg's recognizing it, the fact that what these guys did for filmmaking in general.
Yeah, I think it's great.
It reminds me of when James Cameron was obsessed with RRR and praising Rajumuli.
And I love that because I think that we have been like the precipice of filmmaking here.
But then when we mix that with like the blockbuster hits, we're in this weird zone where we're fatigued by Marvel movies, which is crazy.
And I think it's a good thing to look at other areas making films.
because they don't have the same pressure or the same requirements
that it seems like the studios are requiring for the filmmakers here.
And if someone like Spielberg is like getting that message out,
that's someone I think execs will actually listen to.
Yeah.
Mike, what do you think?
I concur.
Like, what else should I add to it that it was just something about it?
Like I don't have an answer to why it works so well.
you know i i mean you care about the characters yeah it's an emotional story you just felt
you felt like you felt the what it felt like to be with this like that scene i think it was in the
middle of the day when he attacked the city oh god there's a film crew on the roof and you're just like
like yeah i enjoy the the monarch godzilla films but again i couldn't tell you one of the
characters names or what they were doing and when they're done I'm like it's done but it's a great point
I will never forget like the core emotion of what this story is about Godzilla minus one like yeah
I won't forget it like because you were with the character and you understood everything he was
going through and the characters that he met across the way and you're so right Mike that the other
character like I love millie bobby brown stranger things I couldn't tell you anything about her character
I don't even remember you tell me some people are in these movies I can't even remember who was in it
big stars I think it kind of
sums up those monster movies like the fact that Brian Cranston was the best human character
he's in for like 10 minutes he was killed off like the first 15 minutes you're just like oh okay
well we're not doing like right yeah in the height of breaking bad by the way it's right around that
time too anyway this thing was great that story would be great it transitions us into
a star wars portion of the show Steph they have mentioned that he wants to direct star wars now
I'll tell you my concern with him making movies here in the States.
I'm concerned by the restraints that he's going to be put on
because he's going to have to follow the studio rules here.
He's going to have to follow the – he's going to get these big, ridiculous budgets,
and he's going to do all these things.
And even though – I want to – can you imagine seeing a Star Wars film that cost $20 million
and looking the way that Godzilla minus one looked?
Like, do you think that this is going to happen and does it concern you?
if it does?
I don't think it will happen.
It wouldn't,
yeah,
there's concern if it does,
but I think the way that it would work is if he had like a good partner in the
States that he trusted and worked with that could really give him the lowdown
beforehand and throughout it and kind of keep him grounded in dealing with all of this,
but also be like a good medium between the studio.
own him but I just don't think Star Wars Kathleen Kennedy or any of the main people are making a
move like this. Here's why I'll disagree with you because of the story we just covered.
Because of Spielberg. Kathleen Kennedy lives on the word of Steven Spielberg. Yeah. Like she's been
with Steven Spielberg forever from what I hear. She's still very much so making calls to Stephen
Spielberg get, you know, get his take on things. And why wouldn't you if you're that close with
Steven Spielberg? Right. If Steven Spielberg goes, yeah,
really you should hire this guy. That's my terrible
Steven Spielberg. But if you, but if you, but if you
do, why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you if you're
her? So it's possible. And then like you said,
then you've got somebody who do you have? Who's your
liaison? You got Steven Spielberg as your liaison. So I
think it could happen and I think because of this story that we just covered
Mike, where do you stand on it? You think it'll happen?
No. I think he drops out due to create a difference.
That's also possible. I think
you just said it right there like
he clearly was passionate about Godzilla and clearly they let him do it I think the the Star Wars
Disney Marvel machine yeah is like we saw I mean the emcee with I you like he was couldn't do wrong and
then the execs got in and Chapit got in and we want more content and went to shit and
Star Wars is trying to pump out content in this and to use the word content for it's like
I think I think it was Dakota Johnson was recently saying about there there's no creatives
at the executive level anymore.
So I don't know what the executive level looks like in Japan
where he made this movie.
I don't know the studio system over there like it is here,
but...
It wasn't to go John's about it.
You know, I'll see.
I'll bet they'll try and do it, and they'll try and tie it in
because it's going to go through legendary
because the Godzilla property is probably through that.
Is it?
Oh, I guess so.
I guess...
I'm sorry.
I know you're saying.
Here's for example.
I could see if he came over here
and they wanted to do another Godzilla movie with him.
They would try and,
and tie it to the legendary monarch stuff.
Yeah. And he'd go, I didn't, this is not, so.
That's if he's doing that. I think he'd come in and I think they'd have tons of notes.
Yeah. And can you do it with this? Can you tie it to this franchise? Well, we've got this
this Grogoo character. Can he somehow? And he'd be like, I just wanted to do Star Wars movie that
now I'm out. Yeah. I'm going to make another Godzilla film. Yeah.
Got to go. See, want to see you. It's a real bummer. But, um, all right, last one,
this is the Star Wars story that I, that this is the Mace Wind Dew story because I, even when
I was reading this, I heard Steph get a kick out of it. All right. So, so the
This is a story again that I read over at comicbook movie.com about Mace Windu guys.
Samuel L. Jackson wants the world to know that Mace Windu is not dead.
And he's sharing spinoff hopes.
Before he played Nick Fury, Sam Jackson traveled into a galaxy far, far away as Mace Windo in the Star Wars prequel prequel.
Asked about his future with the franchise.
He's nothing, if not enthusiastic.
Josh Wilding says, Samuel L. Jackson sold the show in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Jedi Master Mace Wind
and ended up being responsible for beheading Django Fet
and transforming Chancellor Palpatine
into the monstrous emperor during their clash.
The fight ended with a conflicted Anakin Skywalker
cutting off Windus arm before he was sent hurling to his apparent death.
It was, after all, a very long way down.
Jackson has said on countless occasions
that he'd like to return to this galaxy far, far away,
and tells Empire online that, for him at least,
the door is very much open for reprising the role
in a not-too-distant future.
Asked by the site, well, what he had to say about,
to his death, he said he's not dead.
They tried to get more from him, such as whether he'd like to star in a spin-off Disney
series. To that, he said, everything, yes.
Clearly the prospect of playing the Jedi again massively excites him.
As unlikely, as it might seem, there is hope for Jackson to return, something that's
evident from Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen and respective turns in Star Wars recent
years.
Talking to the site, the latter, addressed his expanded Roland Ossoca describing it as a bucket
list item I didn't even know that I had.
actor added when I was getting ready to do Obi-Wan Kenobi, I started my Clone Wars deep dive and I loved it.
I remember thinking, man, it would be so cool to see some of this live action. The Clone Wars
was described to me by George Lucas when we were doing episode three, the things that were going
on between two and three, Christensen added. He said, so when Faloni and Favro told me that they
wanted to explore some of it, I was so game and I loved how it came out. As for what it was like
to once again, Don Darth Vader's iconic suit. It sounded like that experience on both Obi-Wan
and Osoka was monumental.
finished doing the prequels, it felt like that was it. And my journey with the character was over.
So to get to come back and to do more with Anakin and Darth Vader was an amazing opportunity.
The scenes that I got to do is Vader and Obi-1, that was huge for me.
Being able to add a little bit more connective tissue to the character and to bridge the gap a little bit more with Vader was very worthwhile.
Okay, so both, you have some stuff with Mace Windu there. You got some stuff with Anakin there.
Steph will start with you and the Hayden Christians and stuff. I think everybody's happy in the way that he returned.
happy that he returned we're going to see him again in asoka season two right yeah definitely and
i think that the episode he was in was the best episode of osoka yeah so and i love there they have
great chemistry together uh the two actors so i think why not and everyone loves him now and is
giving him his flowers so it's kind of nice to see the win for him as an actor it's true what about
mace window you think that uh you you had sam jackson just saying he's not dead
I can see him just saying.
I think he's just messing with everyone.
I mean, true, Star Wars, no one really dies in any of these franchises anymore.
I just think he is dead.
Right.
Should be.
You know, like, I think he died and he died a valiant death.
Yeah.
And Mike, I know your answer to this, but should make someone do come back?
What's my answer, smart ass?
No, because you hate people should die on screen.
They're going to die.
But hey, Darth Mall came back and had.
had his intestines brought back and whatnot.
He's back with robot, senator legs.
Palpatine's back magically returns from the dead.
Somehow.
Like, I think it's Sam Jackson being Sam Jackson talk.
It's like, yeah, man.
So that movie was, a 25 years ago, Phantom Menace?
Yeah, coming up, yeah.
Is he going to be running around as a Jedi, man?
Yeah, I know.
What are you doing, man?
Like, I get it.
There's only certain actors like Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise that
are still active at that age.
Yeah, I mean, it depends on what.
It's one of the things when they de-age
Sam Jackson for the Marvels.
It doesn't work because he still moves
like a 70-year-old man.
Right, right.
Well, that's the question.
The question is, that's the question.
The question is, do they de-age him,
put him in some Clone Wars stuff?
Because if you'd be sitting around in a scene
and on the council.
What?
Half a fucking, or, no, no, no, I'm saying,
no, no, but I'm saying on the council before,
like, if it's during the Clone Wars before,
okay, before.
And he's not, but I agree with you.
If they're asking them to do action, no, it's going to be very evident.
But if they're just having them in a scene where he's sitting there and he's having a conversation, sure.
But he's saying he's not dead, meaning he survived it.
If he survives, the way you do that is the question is, what the hell was he doing for the last?
Where was he?
Where was he?
What was he doing?
And at what time period was that?
I think you got to let you got to let this one go and you got to just, if you're going to do a scene with him.
You know.
Sam Jackson, you were in Star Wars.
You got to pick your lightsaber.
It was that great story where he was like,
behind the scenes of George,
like, can I have a purple lightsaber?
George, like, well, all right.
Like, you picked everything.
You won at life, Sam Jackson.
Well, he's trying to do it again.
Done, man.
He's trying to do it.
Well, we're moving on now because it's time to end the show.
So thanks for joining us here today.
I want to thank both Mike and Steph for joining us.
