Starting point is 00:00:28 Happy celebrating. Well, we know the Rousseau's are coming back. The Rousseaus are coming back for the Avengers, and they had already done Civil War. They've done Winter Soldier. They've done an Infinity War endgame, and they're coming back to Avengers. So the new rumor says they ain't done yet.
Starting point is 00:00:44 They're going to be overseeing the X-Men reboot. Does that mean they're going to be directing it? Just overseeing it? If that is indeed the case and turns out to be true, what does that mean about the introduction of the X-Men into the Avengers movies? Very interesting. Flight Risk was the number one movie of the weekend. Talk about the box office numbers in general.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Now that panned out. There's some other things that are going on in the World of Entertainment News. The Akelyte, off the air and cancel and still causing controversy. People saying that there was the ratings, number one show on Disney. So why was it canceled? How good were the other ratings is the question. So we'll discuss that. and other things today on the show.
Starting point is 00:01:32 There's a lot to talk about. It's an early edition of the show today, myself and the Outlaw, John Roker. So let's get into it, everybody. It's Monday. Hold on to your hats. Here we go. Welcome back to the show, everybody. It is the Christian Harlov show here today on Monday.
Starting point is 00:02:01 And joining me on the show, as always, John Roker. Hello, Roker. How are you doing? You're muted. Sorry, nobody, just hit that button. and then you've been doing this long enough. You know. Hey, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I was going to. Sorry about that. I mute myself during the beginning because I want, I don't want Christian to hear my, my laughter or my cackles or my comments. Well, there you go. Now I can hear them all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:20 We're on board. Nice haircut there, buddy. Thank you. Thank you. You know why I had to go to the DMV this morning. That's why. So I had to get a new, new picture on the,
Starting point is 00:02:29 but you were signing up. It's like, let's go free. I know. I know we should. No, not, not yet. But it is time for us to discuss. a great many things. Last week,
Starting point is 00:02:40 Oh, Chump begun, okay? Are you going to apologize for the fact that Friday didn't win the thing and it was a single person that won last week? Who won last week? You know, a broken clock is right twice a day. So,
Starting point is 00:02:54 what do you want for me? Okay, okay. You know, let's take a look. First of all, you need a rock and roll opening with someone singing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Oh. It's the Christian, a life show. Like something like that. You complain that you're not. you complain that you're not in the intro i put you in the intro now you're talking about the music i'm trying i'm always trying to elevate what you're doing in my own small way that's all and you know you can take it or leave it well you're in adding me to the intro which i appreciate yes you're in the
Starting point is 00:03:22 intro but now we apparently we need lyrics so that's fine get on it uh luke get on it well i'll tell you started watching squid game hey like season one or season two season one i never seen and i did a reaction to it and just as i thought it did a big pile of shit Oh no. Nobody cared. But I'm going to I'm going to watch it anyway. I mean, obviously I'm going to watch it regardless. I probably put out I'm going to put out like three episodes, but I'm not going to waste any more time if people aren't watching. It's like it was but I what wasting any time are the other people, the editors and everybody else too. So I'm going to watch. I'll definitely go watch it because I'm locked into it after episode one already. I put episode one up today. So yeah, we have a lot going to say and I watched Team America over the weekend. well yeah um she was for her yeah not a fan if i can say um i was a major fan of it but she was not a fan so that alone is worth watching the uh the reaction to it so funny um all right we've got a lot of stories here john and the one that really kind of stuck out was this rumor about the russo brothers now russo brothers of course uh beloved by the mccup besides i'm
Starting point is 00:04:37 doing a rewatch. I see all the movies that they did and it's just absolutely incredible what they were able to accomplish during their tenure at Marvel. So now we got them back and they're doing the Avengers. Right. And so if I could find the story, I will, I don't know what, it disappeared on my thing. It's right there, but for some reason it's gone. I don't know what the hell's going. Let me say, is that it? Where the freak is this stupid thing? Anyway, There it is. Got it. Found it. Perfect. The Russo Brothers are going to oversee the X-Men reboot and more Avengers Secret Wars.
Starting point is 00:05:15 At least is what people are saying. Okay. That being said, according to a new rumor, is this story moving right now? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. No denying the Marvel Studios. All right, okay.
Starting point is 00:05:31 So according to the new rumor, the Russo Brothers, return to Marvel Studios will last well beyond the Multiverse saga conclusion. as they signed a deal to oversee the upcoming X-Men reboot and more. Josh Wilding, there's no denying that Marvel Studios struggled to find its footing after Endgame after losing several actors and filmmakers, not to mention suddenly being tasked for developing TV shows alongside movies.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Fagia's occasionally struggled to keep the Multiverse saga on course. The removal of writers Jeff Lovenness and Michael Waldron from the next Avengers movies and the return of the Russo Brothers was seen as a writing of the ship by many. Now the filmmakers will helm Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars. Beyond that, well, they're not going nowhere.
Starting point is 00:06:11 The new rumor is to be believed. According to the insider, Daniel Rickman, the Russo's aren't walking away from the MCU when the Multiverse saga ends. Instead, they've already signed a deal to oversee additional projects for the next saga, including the X-Men reboot. Now, whether they'll direct any of those
Starting point is 00:06:28 remains to be seen, though we wouldn't be shocked if Fige chooses them to take charge of the first X-Men movie, as that needs to be a hit. if mutants are going to thrive alongside Earth's mightiest heroes. You may recall, the recent rumors have pointed to Mr. Sinister, being the big bad of the X-Men franchise, something we've long suspected after Fox's efforts focused on Magneto.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Not to mention Sinister's prominent role in X-Men 97. The Mutant Saga next big event, meanwhile, is rumored to be Avengers versus X-Men, and that's a movie we could definitely see being a Joe and Anthony on their radar. Of course, the duo might not be alone and being part of the next saga if recent reports about Robert Danny Jr.'s feature as Dr. Doom is accurate.
Starting point is 00:07:10 It's been widely theorized that the upcoming Doomsday and Secret Wars might pit Earth's 616's mightiest heroes against Earth's one, a lot of numbers. X-Men, and while they still might happen, it seems Marvel Studios is looking to save the concept
Starting point is 00:07:24 for Avengers versus X-Men, which arguably makes more sense once that new MCU team of mutants is properly established. I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize Faggy T's last November. Right after that,
Starting point is 00:07:38 the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into New Age of Mutants and the X-Men. Again, it's one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back. Okay, so, John, there's a lot there. So what do you make of these reports, first of all? Do you think that the Russo's should be the ones in charge of the X-Men moving forward?
Starting point is 00:07:58 Yeah, I think it's a smart decision. Who else was knocking on that door? Feige's been doing this since, what, 2008? You know, and at some point, you realize it's, you've got to bring other people in who you trust, who can step into the situation and maybe write the ship. Iger was talked to about this possibility because of the amount of money you're going to have to pay to bring the Russo brothers in to do this. And honestly, this is something that we've been speculating about on the hot mic for months,
Starting point is 00:08:27 that the Russo's weren't just coming back to do a couple of movies, that they would be coming back to do much more. and it would make sense that Feige would turn them into advisors. Now, the fact that Daniel goes that next level where they would be in charge of the X-Men as well as kind of landing the ship on the Avengers here in these last two films, I think that's an interesting decision if that's the case, because remember this is just a rumor for RPK. But if that happens, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:08:57 And then leading them to Avengers versus X-Men makes even more sense. Because remember, when the Rousseau's were first pitched, I think. They were like, no, we don't want to do it. We don't want to come back. And then the next day they called him, no, we've got a great idea. So the great idea may have been like, okay, we'll do Secret Wars, we'll do all this. But what we want to do is, if there's a space to have us take over the X-Men, let us do the X-Men. We've done it with Avengers before, with teams, and then we'll lead to Avengers versus X-Men. That way there's a common tone throughout.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Like you know that one, that these two brothers are in charge of the whole thing. So it's going to have a commonality of tone throughout leading to this end result Avengers versus X-Men, which a lot of people, I think, would be so jazzed to see, especially comic book nerds like me. So, yeah, I love that. I mean, it makes sense, right? Also, you know, like you said, if they're setting up, and as Fikey said in that release, that this is setting up the Avengers. This is setting this. Sorry, the X-Men and X-Men in the Avengers, in that multiverse. thing so you're gonna see a lot of setup in those two movies so this makes way more
Starting point is 00:10:05 sense because if you look at it it's been kind of a jumbled mess leading up to it's really no through line like especially after watching the MCU phases one through three which I'm doing right now and you see like all the threads that are leading to infinity war and endgame there hasn't been that at all really it's been multiverse things that have popped up there's really been nothing they try to do with Kang a little bit and then that fell through and yeah yeah Nothing really, you don't really know what this is about, right? So when you brought in the Rousseau, you're like, well, what are they really doing?
Starting point is 00:10:36 What are they ending except the multiverse? Right. And now by them, not only are they ending the multiverse, they're beginning the actual new thread. So they're setting it up and ending it at the same time. So it makes a lot of sense that they would do that. And you bring them on board to do it. And especially if you have that kind of trust in them, though if Fige must, and rightfully so, And you say, look, guys, here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:11:00 What's our angle all the way through? And you guys want to carry the ball and do it. And it looks like they want to do it. And it would make sense also for goodwill. If, look, you know how fickle the fan base is. Yes. If the new Avengers movies stink, the fans are going to be like,
Starting point is 00:11:19 ah, they're past their prime. We don't want them anymore. So is that a risk to have them, to be fair, they haven't announced it. But is it before they, see how this goes signing them up or do they kind of have to because they're already
Starting point is 00:11:34 moving forward? I think this is the situation they found themselves in because of the desperate nature of how these last two phases have gone. Look, some of you argue that you like the last two phases. I'm not denigrating that. Feel free to love everything in all those phases. But the overall consensus is
Starting point is 00:11:50 that this was a bit of a meh or stumble, they stumbled through these last two phases. So that's the situation there. Iger comes back, wants to streamline everything, wants to cut down the cost. And so you've got to kind of cater to that because you answer to a board of directors. All right, let's put this in motion. Who are you bringing back?
Starting point is 00:12:06 Well, we're going to bring our RDJ and Chris Evans and all these other people to be part of this. Great. Who's going to be in charge of it? Let's get the Rousseau's. All right, how much are they going to cost? Right. This much. All right, if we're bringing them back for this, then we've got to extend them out for all
Starting point is 00:12:18 these other movies because it makes sense if we're going to spend this kind of money. Okay, great. You put them all in motion. But as you just said, if doomsday comes out and it's kind of a me, or a six out of a 10, then you're like, uh, what are we doing? And then if, uh, Secret Wars comes out and doesn't hit the mark, then you've got some issues. And the thing is, yes, the Russo's have been great in Marvel, but the Russo's outside of
Starting point is 00:12:42 Marvel, not so good. And so has, have they been damaged? Were they just the right people at the right time for that time? Or is there more to come from them? They can be really good. And I think Doomsday and Secret Wars clearly, as you mentioned, Christian, will be the testing ground for that and if both of those are great then there's going to be a lot of excitement for x-men and i wonder are they going to be in charge of the casting of the directors who are chosen to work within
Starting point is 00:13:08 the x-men universe it's there's a lot of questions here how much is figy and controlling this and how much are they working in tandem the three of them i would say they have earned it at this point to have a lot of input i agree i agree i also don't think that their brand has been tarnished at all if you mentioned with the Netflix movies nobody nobody knows about those things outside that's the problem that's the problem nobody knows it's like if so you were like for the the audience the there's no world there's no world that the emcee went when they announce a rousseau coming right a lot of people were kind of back and forth on downy not because they don't like down it because he was tony stark there was a big thing there how many put how much pushback did you see on the rousseau's when they
Starting point is 00:13:49 were announced as the avengers people people were super excited no was like oh but did you see their last Netflix movie well I mean I was but I you but you follow this stuff yeah like most like I'm telling you like and look the the the argument against that too is how many people really still pay attention to the directors I'm watching I'm watching the MCU with Sam her favorite movies are right now Civil War was their number one I think winter soldiers are number two and she's gonna love the two Avengers movies And if I asked her right now, who directed those, and I've told her before if you were doing, she won't remember.
Starting point is 00:14:29 There's no way. She won't remember. But that doesn't necessarily take away from the fact that the hardcore fan base obviously knows who they are. I don't think the hard core. And that's the millions. So. Right. And those hardcore millions of Marvel fans don't give a shit about their next, that they didn't do good Netflix movies because it's not.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Because it's not a Marvel movie. If they, all of their Marvel movies, all of their Marvel movies are considered. some of the greats and in a lot of people's top tens if not in the top five but don't deny that yeah so if they came in and they you know but that's going to the the goodwill's going to go away fast if this first avengers movie is not good then you're going to see the the audience turn quick i compare it to like a star a star receiver if we go NFL right a star receiver who was really great on this team goes to another team does okay but not great and then comes back to his previous team, are they going to be able to capture the magic in the same way?
Starting point is 00:15:26 So I think that's kind of how I feel about the situation here. I think for me, the jury is out, but I hear you that a majority of people maybe didn't follow the Rousseau's to their other projects. And maybe that's why they didn't get watched enough. But the end results were not great. For a majority of those projects, if not all of them. And so I have concerns for my own. But like you said, maybe there's a lot of Marvel fans who just hear Rousseau's and think,
Starting point is 00:15:49 okay, we're really set up here. I think that's right now. that's exactly what it is but as far as taking the x-men if it does if look the strategy is sound if the two movies really deliver and then it makes a lot of sense if the russo's said to downy hey listen we're taking over the x-men thing we want you to be to be doomed because he's got such a significant role as the villain moving forward in this thing and we're involved and he's like well you're involved and that's the reason i came back in the first place so if you guys are involved, then I'm involved.
Starting point is 00:16:25 And that's how you get deals done, right? And then it also, it's like a baseball team. It's like, okay, you got the coaches that have won championships just before. And because those coaches signed on, the star players are sticking around. They came back. We traded one of them. We thought one of them retired. And then it came back.
Starting point is 00:16:42 And all the other ones that were retired are coming back. And the question is, are they going to have blown out knees? You know what I mean? Are they exhausted? Are they, is their heart still in the game? can they still win championships? That's what it comes down to. Yeah, LeBron was famous for this.
Starting point is 00:16:58 If you got LeBron on your team, he was bringing all his boys with him, and they were all going to sign contracts for one year or two years and play for LeBron to try to get him another championship and themselves another ring. You're absolutely right in analyzing it in that way. But it also makes sense,
Starting point is 00:17:14 and I don't know if you're segueing into this already, why Downey Jr., if you guys talked about on Capes and Cows, why the big rumors are coming out, the Downey Jr. is going to stick around past Sigel award. We can stay there. Why do you, I mean, besides the obvious with the money and potential points that he's going to have, I mean, I think it's he probably likes the materials and he also
Starting point is 00:17:34 likes money, but he also likes working with the Rousseau's knows Rousse's. I think that this is more true because of that, that he's like, oh, he's, they're sticking around, then I'll stick around. I think it has a lot to do with it. Yeah, absolutely. It feels like he's in the right hands. and they want to extend the character out and he trusts them to extend the character out because look what they were able to do with Josh Boland and Thanos and string that out over multiple movies.
Starting point is 00:18:00 It makes sense that you'd be able to do that with Doom and Robert Dennis Jr. as Doom, which really, like, it's still kind of shocking that he's Doom. Such an out-of-left-field choice. And now it sounds he's actually going to be Doom in this main universe that they're setting up once they're done with a multiverse. So that's super shocking. And so now where are you going to go with this?
Starting point is 00:18:20 How long are you going to string this out? Is he going to be the main villain all the way to Avengers versus X-Men? So will it be them constantly trying to take him down, but he keeps escaping, he keeps surviving? Like, what is the overall approach here? Because I thought he was just coming back for a one and done, like a couple of films, and then he was out, essentially a one and done. And but it seems like he's going to extend out for a while now.
Starting point is 00:18:40 And I think they're moving. Look, we sell James Gunn do this. I think we're moving into a position where even Robert Dionne Jr. at some point becomes a consultant for Marvel and Disney. for the Marvel brand. It would make me nervous. That would make me nervous. Like the Russo's.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Player become coaches all the time. Well, it happens all of the time. It doesn't mean that they become good coaches. It doesn't mean that they win championships. And it doesn't mean that sometimes they make decisions sometimes that you're like, oh, man, we shouldn't have made that guy coach. Yeah. And I don't necessarily know if that's the case with Downey, but I just, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:15 I think the Russo's makes sense. Do you want to bring them on to be consultants and run? Because they're geeks, man. Yeah, I know. He isn't, but they're geeks. Like, I was, I'm really surprised they had never announced the Star Wars deal because I remember when they came in and I think it was for Civil War. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:31 I remember when they came in the Collider and Ellis and I, um, interviewed them. Yeah. I told Joe, I think that I was doing Jedi Council and his eyes lit up. He's like, oh, I'm such a big Star Wars. I go, would you want to be on Jedi Council? He's like, yes. And then it just, they got huge and that never happened. But, um, but I was asking, would you guys ever want to do a Star Wars movie?
Starting point is 00:19:50 and they just were kind of coy about it. And I don't mean coi genre where they talked a lot, the exact opposite. They talked to their coy and didn't say shit. Talk about somebody whose name is the exact opposite of who he is. Anyway. Wow. Clary catching strays.
Starting point is 00:20:06 100%. But either way, either way, I'm surprised that they didn't do it. But this makes a lot of sense because if you said their country. Remember, there was a time. I think there was a time when it's like the, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige wanted to show that they could do it with anybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Need the old faithful and they could do, they could do these movies anybody. Because I remember when they asked the Rousseau's, like they haven't called us. I mean, they haven't brought anything up. We'd love to do it. They haven't talked to us. And they were nowhere near doing this. And then I think eventually, Figuke's like, I got to call the guys. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:20:45 That's exactly what happened. Yeah, let's get the boys back in. We got to straighten this ship out. Yeah, and see where we're going to go from here, you know. But the thing is, what happens after this, Chris? Like, we're going to enjoy this. X-Men, man. It works.
Starting point is 00:20:56 But what happens afterwards? But that's it. That's, you can do X-Men movies for the next 10 to 15 years. Yeah, but who's going to be in charge and will they be as competent as the Russo brothers? Right. Because, like, you said. You've got, you've got to create. Look, look at the team that they created within phases one through three.
Starting point is 00:21:13 It wasn't. Exactly. It was Figey through the different directors. I mean, he had Kenneth Bonnich. to come in at one point, then he was gone, and you had Taylor come in at one point for the Thor movies. You had, you know, they moved things around. You got the Russo, you found the Russo's, find the new Russo's inside. Let the Russo's find the new Russo's.
Starting point is 00:21:30 And you had Ryan, Ryan Coogler at that at one point, you know, to come in there. So there's a lot. There's a lot. But you speak of the thing is that with Marvel is that they were able to say, okay, look, we see our issues. and because of that, you know, we're going to, like you said, there's, there's shifts.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Yeah. We've famously said that that's not the case with Lucasville. And, you know, it looks like they're, they think everything's fine. A lot of the audience thought that too. I don't know if you saw over the weekend. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Man. Yeah, this was, this was, when did they just come out? So many amateur studio heads just sitting on their couches. Not understanding how the business works, but where is, I'm trying to find this report.
Starting point is 00:22:17 For some reason, it was over here on, on Dark Horizons. Well, it says to hear this, therefore, I don't understand this. Now, when did that story hit? Over the weekend, right? Over the weekend, yeah. It's on Dark Horizons, I think. That's what I said. I'm looking for Dark Horizon.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Why can't I find a new, dude? Oh, there it is. Okay. Yeah. I got it. It's just, it's on something. It is Monday morning. So, over the weekend, there was a report about
Starting point is 00:22:45 the accolade and its ratings which people right away everybody just jumped to twitter and said see see see take it easy as they say um here is let's go this report first okay percy jackson beats the accolade in streaming ratings is the is the this is what they say here and an analysis film lumini published this its year end analysis in 2024 looking at both tv production and series viewership and much of the talk in the wake of it has gone to its numbers around the ratings of one show in particular Star Wars the Acolyne. Bluminati says that all the major streaming franchises, including Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, the Rings, the Power second season, total minutes watched, were down as much as 60% compared
Starting point is 00:23:31 to the first season. On the Disney Plus service, the late 2023 release of Percy Jackson and Olympians led it to becoming the most watched show of last year with over 3 billion minutes viewed. The Ackleite, the most watched new series on Disney Plus, launched. in 2024 came in second place with 2.7 billion minutes. Agatha Long was in third with 2.8 billion minutes. Echo was in fourth with 1.54 billion minutes and X-Men 97 was fifth with 1.44 billion minutes. The report says, while mixed fan reactions were likely a factor to the Aglide cancellation, despite its success, more impactful was the viewership for the show saw significant decreases after the first two episodes and into the finale.
Starting point is 00:24:18 In contrast, last year as Soka saw a decline in its third week, but rose in the weeks after through to the finale. Not to mention, it cost over $200 million to make. The Skeleton Crew series declined from the third week to the finale. It wasn't as sharp as it was with the Aglide, but overall ratings were notably below the Acklite, and the series total 914 million minutes watched. lowest new series of the top 10.
Starting point is 00:24:46 Remember, everyone was saying, oh, the ratings got better. Yeah. Apparently not. As the series was released in the last few weeks and didn't have a full season available until earlier this month, it should fare better in next year's report. Got it. In terms of all top 10 originals, the Harlan-Cobin adaptation, Fool Me Once, released on New Year's top $12.1 billion watched. Bridgeton 11.1, Landman, $9.9 billion. Perfect couple, 8.8. Tulsa King, 8.5.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Let me go back real quick and let's see something. So you see those numbers that we just talked about here. And what was an acolyte was what, 2.7 billion minutes. 2.7 billion minutes. Okay, and I'm going to go and I'm going to read these other ones of the ones that did very well. Yeah. The other hits that we just ran, we just talked. Landman, 9.9 billion.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Tulsa King, 8.5 billion. These are streamers. Streaming shows just like, it's like, just like, just. like yeah exactly gentlemen 8.6 billion fallout 7.95 billion it is 5 billion more than a show that cost 230 million dollars the impact of the strikes was felt heavily in the production last year not just shows going break combined yeah so all right yeah i didn't chime and i saw i let kalanowski do that kalinowski was chiming in on twitter and all over the place and and crazy they were like because the thing was I said it was the second highest rated show.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Yes. Of Disney. And everyone's like, see, see, shouldn't have been canceled. But I thought it was terrible. I thought it did bad. You didn't ask the follow up question. What were the ratings on the other shows? It's the first question that should have been asked.
Starting point is 00:26:30 What were the ratings on the other ones? And like, because guess what? Agatha only costs like 80 million or whatever costs to make. So when you see a number like that, that's decent. Not bad. you look at the Tulsa King, there's no world where Tulsa King cost as much as the Ackleite did. No. And it did six billion streaming minutes more than the Acolyte.
Starting point is 00:26:55 With Stallone, who's 70 years old. Almost 80. 80. And going after a particular demographic, the younger demographic is who Acklead is aimed for, and they said, no, thank you. There's no world that show gets renewed. Yeah. There's no world. The same thing with Skeliskeleton crew.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I haven't seen it. I hear it's good. No world. If it costs a lot of money to make, I don't know what the budget is. But like when people are out there to, well, see, it shouldn't have been canceled. Yeah. You will never work for any company that makes good decisions. You won't.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Yeah. You won't. That's a terrible business mind. Well, it did good. It did it? Or did they cheat it and say it was our, it was the second most, in the most disappointing year for streaming shows that we've had so far, it was number two. That's, I mean, come on, guys.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Like, just pay attention to it, the whole thing overall, not just what your narrative is. It's like, I get it. Look, I want, hey, I say the same thing. I want, there's certain shows I would love to see continue and happen, but if people aren't watching them, I just mentioned what Squid game, the one that I'm doing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I love watching them. I want to do all those reactions. Right. But if people aren't watching them, what's the point of me doing them? If people don't really, if the audience is telling you, I don't really care. The people who are, who are watching it, who did check it out, I can say, look, I'll do a review for you guys. And hopefully you guys enjoy that. But it's got to, it's got to make sense for whoever's putting out the production of this.
Starting point is 00:28:30 I mean, I'm assuming you feel the same way here. Yeah, for the most part, yes, I agree. Because, I mean, look at even Squid Game, that got 1.2 billion hours, hours, not many. It's hours of viewing from the ratings here. And you look at the numbers, in what world should a Percy Jackson show do better than a Star Wars show? That is not a universal. This is like Alabama fans storming the field after they win a game.
Starting point is 00:28:56 What is wrong with you? You were a once proud organization or a program. What are you doing storming the field? Like Wichita State or something. Like you've got to have a certain level of expectation on this thing. And all the things you're naming, it's not like these shows got massive fanfare or whatever. I mean, Tulsa King, to me, I thought was a niche show.
Starting point is 00:29:15 But the fact that it outperforms Skeleton Crew, that is really shocking. It's Disney Plus, which is a hell of a lot more of an easier thing to download, an easier app to navigate than Paramount Plus. So people are going out of their way to find Tulsa King. And then you look at this situation here in the number of minutes and the budget. That's the thing. The budget is huge. And you've got to look at it as a bigger picture, too,
Starting point is 00:29:37 which is that Disney fumbled this. whole thing. There's no reason the budget should have been this big. There's no reason they should have built the expectations this high. The show that did deserve it was skeleton crew. And sadly, that's like number seven on their list of most viewed, which is down there. So we probably won't see a second season. But this idea that people, it gets so frustrating. We see this with the marvels, right? Like this victimhood that just these people who love these shows or these movies just assume or take on like oh you guys destroyed this thing i loved and it's like no man people people didn't watch people didn't watch glad you loved it people didn't watch and no it wasn't because
Starting point is 00:30:18 there was a campaign or all this kind of stuff no people checked it out look at the numbers for the first three episodes people checked it out and then checked out because they didn't want to go forward with it so yes congratulations on the billions of minutes or whatever it was that it got but like it's got to make sense it's got to yeah it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like look it was the number one out of all the ones that we needed it did this number but it didn't do this number and exactly and they set it up to do and it didn't right and in order to justify this number that we spent yeah it needed to hit this number yeah however it hit this number which was the second best that we've had it's like for this year
Starting point is 00:30:58 for this year and it's like so when you just read that and you and you go because it's like you're fighting for a show that you love and you go oh see That's it. And yet, and then they just say, well, it's because they catered. They catered to the people who didn't like it. It's like, no, I'm sure it certainly had a lot to do with it, that it wasn't loved also, because why would you want to put a show out there that you're trying to rebuild your brand. You're trying to rebuild it. And it's like, that's why I also said, like, I know that you like Skeleton Crew and people who watched that show liked it, but there's a reason why people didn't tune into it because they didn't feel like it was really targeted for them, and nor was there any excitement behind it. Star Wars needs an exciting thing. And, you know, and I'm going to, and we're going to talk about the Mangold thing because apparently Mangled's movie is moving fast and they might even be starting shooting this year. Yeah. So we'll discuss that in just a minute, but I'll tell you what. I think it's almost Christmas time. What? What? It is to me. You know, you know, you know why? It's, it's almost Christmas. At least it feels like Christmas because for, are you, I forget, are you a,

All right, thank you for having both Robin Hood, trade coffee, and of course, AG1. All right, so here's what we're going to do for New Year also
Starting point is 00:36:49 because I decided, as I said, if you, and I love when people are putting their opinions in and love the conversations that we're having in the chat, but what We won't do is be going back and forth and yelling at the chat. I won't do that. But what we will say is this, if you don't like certain things that happen on this show, if you think that, oh, you're playing noises and those types of things, I implore it.
Starting point is 00:37:08 There's so many other shows that you can watch, and I thank you for your viewership. But it's really cool. The door is there. Please go and watch another show. And I don't mind. And thank you for everything that you've been, that if you've been here before and you've led your comments and your thoughts, it's the best. Thank you so much for doing it.
Starting point is 00:37:22 But we're trying to do a positive thing with people. So I don't want to have to throw you out. So just, you know, just go watch another show and no harm, no foul. So thanks for being here, everybody. Really excited to talk about some more stories. And let's do it. Let's get into this one. And that is this, we just talked about Star Wars.
Starting point is 00:37:40 Yeah. And this James Mangold movie, apparently, as we talked about, John, they, this looks like, and it makes sense that you would do this. It looks like it's moving forward pretty quick. It might even be the next one out the gate, right? Yeah. It's looking more and more like James Mangold's film will be his Star Wars movie that will be the next movie announced over two years ago. Taking place some 25,000 years before the events of the original trilogy, Dawn of the Jedi is expected to deal with the first users of the force and the very origins of the Jedi Order. House of Cards creator Bo Willman has been co-writing the script with Mangled.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Since its announcement, little in the way of updates have been giving regarding the project, Beyond Commons, by Mangold himself during press for 2023. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and last year's a complete unknown. These comments have been about the level of creative freedom more than any storytelling or production specifics. Today, my time to shine a low, is reporting that the current plans for the film to begin shooting in December. They say the script is expected to be finalized by the summer with casting to begin immediately after. If true, it suggests that Mangled Swamp Thing film at D.C. will have to wait with the director of potentially not getting around for several years. film will likely be the third Star Wars film to hit the big screen post Rise of Skywalker. This already shot the mandolaryan and Groga will be the first to open in May, 2026.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Why Sean Levy's Starbue's film got a huge boost this week with Gosling and talks to Star with shooting for a fall start. Charmaine, a boy Chenoy directed and Daisy Ridley led Star Wars New Jedi movie. Meanwhile, it just got a new writer with Christopher Nolfe, which suggests the production will not begin until next year. Man, a lot of shake-ups. A lot of shake-ups. for sure.
Starting point is 00:39:29 So it makes sense to me that they would move forward with Mangold because they have a relationship already with Mangold. Not only do they have a relationship with him. They also, he got a lot of buzz. He's just got nominated for Best Director. He's solid filmmaker. And he's got, I think he set up the most for success out of anybody right now because of where his movie lands, that there's not a lot of.
Starting point is 00:39:56 okay, this is what the movie needs to hit with this lore and make sure everybody's happy over here and this. You don't need to do that. So this makes sense to me. And it also makes friends that Sean Livy would be next. And it gives you time to build on the Ray movie. And I also think it also gives time. You got two movies back to back that if they can land and get the fans back on board, then you do a Ray movie leading with a Ray movie right away after the mixed feeling on the new trilogy was risky. So I think they're making smarter moves.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Do you feel the same? Yes. Yeah. I mean, yes, a cautiously optimistic. Because I do think Mangold's an incredible filmmaker. I like a complete unknown. I know some people have been pushing back on it since he got nominated, but I like that film a lot.
Starting point is 00:40:44 And not just because of Shalemae's performance. I think overall it's a really damn good film. So having him do his Star Wars film moving it up, It's kind of a surprise because I thought with the Ryan Gossling news from last week that that would move the Sean Levy film up more quickly. But maybe they want to take a break after Grogu and Mandelorne and then head back in time a little bit and see what Mangold can do with all, as you said, the Oscar buzz. And then after that, you get the Sean Levy film.
Starting point is 00:41:12 So it's a balance in tones, right? And then you're leading to the Ray film. I still think that film now I'm moving more and more strongly into that film will never happen. getting a writer like this announcing it on a Friday near the end of the day to me does not spark confidence especially a writer who wrote some good stuff then wrote some not so good stuff so it's not an exciting truth I don't think sharmino be Chenoy is going to direct this thing I think I'm in the point of seeing that everything is going to change and I think they are punting it down the road, Christian, because they're just like they've done before with that
Starting point is 00:41:54 Ryan Johnson trilogy that we never saw. I mean, they, I think they push things down the road for a reason. It's because they don't feel like the fans right now want it, as you just said. And they think these two probably are safer choices right now for where the fan base is. So that's what I think when I look at this situation. So if they're talking about Sean Levy not starting his film until next year. I mean, yeah, 2020. That to me would surprise me, especially because if Gosling's in charge, we've gotten already casting talks with Gosling. We've got nothing like that for Mangold's film. So I'm a little surprised on the timetable. I thought Leavis would be next for sure. So we'll see. Yeah, but it makes sense, right? Like, especially if, if you know, if you don't really have,
Starting point is 00:42:38 like, if they're talking about Ryan Gosling yet they don't have it. I think it's in talks. It's in talks. And don't forget, and this is what nobody brings up. And it's, it's kind of a bummer. I'm glad that Horowitz brought it up. It's like, and I hope more people ask Mangled about this too, right? Because I don't believe he would stole anything. But Mangold's not the one that pitched. Let me do the 25,000 year beginning of the forcing. That was, that was Benny Off and Weiss.
Starting point is 00:43:02 They had that thing. That's true. That was, that's what their movie was going to be about. They've since been quiet about it. Now, I don't necessarily know if maybe that's what Lucasfilm wanted to do. Like, they're like, hey, we want to explore this. Do you guys like this? And they said yes.
Starting point is 00:43:15 And then they're like, okay, we can't, we don't really. see where you guys are going with this we're going to give this to mangold but they just act like that never happened and it did ben eph and we're going to do the same story or not maybe not the same characters of at the same time period and the same thing so like they've been circling around that and it's a smart play to make because you can build what i hope that they do though is that they stay there like stay in that area oh interesting stay stay in the 25 000 years and And, well, you know, but gradually build in that time, like the old Roman times and build it. You don't need to go back to where we've seen enough in the other eras.
Starting point is 00:43:57 We've seen enough. Like, we've got so much stuff there. And if you're going to go, you're obviously going to do Ray, then you can take place where during that time period. But everything else, play with your new sandbox. Yeah. I agree with you. Stay there. See what you can create.
Starting point is 00:44:13 See what you can explore. What new lore you can put together there. during that time with new characters. And maybe that's a way to excite filmmakers who are maybe hesitant to go into the current time that they're playing around with because of the reaction of fans. You go, well, here's a completely new sandbox
Starting point is 00:44:31 that you can build your own castles in and your own lore and mythology in. And yeah, maybe you'll have to occasionally tie things up because it's cool for the fans to get a little bit of an Easter egg. But overall, you're going to have a little more free reign to create what you want to do. It all depends on how, And if it's good, then you've opened the door to that time period and people wanting more.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Look what happened on the publishing side with High Republic, right? They open the door to a little bit of High Republic. Boom. It's been massive. And a lot of people have loved those books and novels, young adult and a more mature approach. All of them have been mostly successful and the comic books as well. So to me, that's where you go, okay, Star Wars can do it on one side of their overall franchise or IP. now can they do it again here on the movie side theatrically and open the door.
Starting point is 00:45:21 So yeah, I like that idea. Yeah. So I ask you guys, though, what do you think about it? You think this is exactly where they should go? Are they moving in the right direction? Should Mangolds be next? What say you? This weekend saw flight risk think the number one spot.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Oh, boy. What? It was the number one movie. Do you see it? No, I didn't need to see it. But yes, go ahead. Flight risk. Top's quiet box office weekend.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Mel Gibson's flight risk has topped what's tipped to be one of the worst weekends at the box office with the combined total of all films, $63 million for all the films. The Mark Wahlberg-led flight risk will come out on top with $11 to $12 million for the three days and gives Lionsgate a second number one this year following Denna Thieves 2, Pantera, Lionsgate needs it, man. The film has not just been widely rejected by critics, but audiences earning a woeful C cinema score. Is that Dennis,
Starting point is 00:46:20 Denna Thieves or flight risk? I think it's flight risk. Let me look. Let's see, let's see what flight risk has on. Oh, no, it looks like Denny Thieves because this is a sentence right after Dennis Thieves. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Rotten Tomatoes flight risk, because I saw Alonzo Doral, they liked it. But he liked it. Oh, no, no. It got a, it's 26%. Yeah, yeah. It's 26% of Rotten Tomatoes. Now, but the question,
Starting point is 00:46:45 is there's a lot of questions okay the mark warburg led flavors so it's still doing better than then presence the super now i thought he was retired sodenberg so to retire he was retiring a while ago only one of these directors who retires and it doesn't retire the supernatural thriller that received fairly good reviews but has been dubbed a flop by audiences with a C plus cinema score and poor post track results uh the title had its debut in six place with 3.1 million for the weekend in second place was Disney still powering of Mufasa. Wow. The Lion King, which took an $8 million, is now 220
Starting point is 00:47:20 domestically. Third one was one of them days, which dropped 39% in the second weekend and earned 7.2. Rounding the top five were Sonic, which earned 5.1. Moana 2, which earned four. Last week's horror wolf man fell to seventh. Yuck. And at second weekend with a 3 million
Starting point is 00:47:36 haul, it was 72% drop. The Brutalist had its major expansion over in 1,100 cinemas, but funnily enough, it made a little difference in $2 million weekend haul to just 2% compared to last weekend, despite being in around three times as many coming off a Golden Globes win. Okay. A lot there.
Starting point is 00:47:55 So funny because, oh, I got a lot of crap, John, on Thursday because my people misunderst, well, some understand what I was saying and others just flat out disagree. I still think when it comes to the Oscars, you and I've had this talk that people are like, oh, it's not about popular movies. I couldn't agree more. Not about popular movies. For me, it's more about awareness, right? And you see like this movie,
Starting point is 00:48:18 Brutelus, which is probably a great movie. I got to check it out. But I'm not watching a seven-hour movie, and I think that's the same reason why it's not doing well in the theaters, too. People are going to go, what are going to go see in the theater? I want to go see a three-hour movie? That movie's not going to do well in the theaters. It's just not.
Starting point is 00:48:33 And they're putting it out in the theaters because they wanted to get nominated. And they want to be able to qualify and all these different things. So I think that, there's um i don't know there's just uh there's there's certain movies that do well in the theaters other ones that don't but i applaud them for putting it out in the theater and giving it a shot to put more awareness on it so yeah well i mean you're not always going to knock it on
Starting point is 00:48:55 the park with the fan with the audience rather i mean look a better man that the monkey movie with about robbie wiam yeah yeah great great great reviews no one i know who's seen it didn't love it they all loved it um i you know i'm halfway through it and i'm enjoying the hell out of it but like the thing is that nobody went to see it you know and so it's like this is the game same thing here with the brutalist it's a three hour and 40 minute and i disagree with you i think people would go see a three hour and 40 minute movie if it was an exciting movie oh i didn't say that i just i i i don't i'm not saying something i mean look look at end game was three hours long there's a tons of movies that are three hours long um you're not qualifying well the interest is not like it doesn't
Starting point is 00:49:38 seem like an interesting movie for me to go see for three hour 40 minutes yeah it's i just think that there's some people that are going to go you know especially because it's a heavy movie right so like to go to sit in a heavy movie for that long it's it's it's it's a lot it's tough to get people to do and it gets heavier as the film that's what i mean so yeah yeah it's tough that that's more so what i meant than anything else because there are there are tons of movies that are over three hours long or close to three hours long that have done very i mean look at wolf of wall street's close to hours long i think and there's like titanic yeah um and i didn't might look and i'll tell you i guess it's the same argument right although i did sit in the theater to watch it was killers of the
Starting point is 00:50:15 killer killer the flower killers of the flower moon yeah um which is i think what three hours and 30 minutes or some shit it's really long i went to think because i'm a scrocese fan i went to watch but that movie didn't do very well in the theater either nope nope nope so all about prestige that film yeah and and that and that's kind of what i meant but again putting trying to put awareness on it and people just not seeing it then and shaw shank redemption as i made the argument about in 94 right that movie yeah that movie did terrible i saw that movie at the dollar theater in florida because it was already out of the theaters at that point and i couldn't believe it i was like that movie so good um but nobody saw that movie in the theater i meant to see it opening day in an afternoon on a friday and i remember
Starting point is 00:50:58 distinctly because that movie like messed me up after it was over and i and i was like 10 15 people in the theater and I was shocked, just shocked. I think that that's kind of the, so the comment, which rightfully so, said, you got to be careful because you don't want to turn the Oscars and TM TV movie awards. And that's, that's not, I'm just not describing it well enough to it. No, I'm not saying you need to do best explosion and best kiss and all that kind of shit. I'm just saying that when you look at, it's just a different world, I think, is what it comes down to. Because when I, when I brought up like 94 and I brought up the, the movies that were nominated,
Starting point is 00:51:31 it's all movies that you heard of. It's all movies that you know. It's all movies that the general public knows. And it's just not that kind of world anymore because there's so many movies on streaming and these other, like so many different studios making movies from Amazon to Netflix, that there's all these different movies
Starting point is 00:51:46 that it's impossible to keep up with all them. It's impossible. It's impossible to keep up with all of them. And even like, because I was going to make the, because, and I couldn't make the case against like, Amelia Perez, you were like, well, who knows about that movie? It's on Netflix. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:59 And it's one, and it's featured on everything you, you play. So it's like, and millions. of people know it so it is there is awareness on that one is just but the question is who's clicking on it like i don't know how do it's becoming a massive social media conversation touchstone yeah people are doing all kinds of videos on melia brez and making fun of it the uh selina gomez spanish accent like it's cute and now people are playing a clip from the movie i saw i saw i said how did this how did this song beat the wicked song which i haven't seen the movie but i was like hey he's got a point yeah i'm kind of
Starting point is 00:52:33 I've kind of turned around on that film now, and I kind of think it's not as great as everyone was saying it. It's turning into a crash situation? Yeah, I think it feels that way. And if it wins because of this AI controversy bull crap, then I think it'll be a damn crime, like a damn crime, if that ends up becoming a best picture. Because nothing is going to get, even people like me, to stoff at the academy, then that film winning best picture. You know what I'm saying? And I don't care how many of these directors come out because someone posted all these directors who love the movie. and some directors that we know and love,
Starting point is 00:53:05 like Joe Goro and all these other really great directors came out and said how amazing that film is. And it's like, well, the public isn't viving it. And I think that's what you brought up on Thursday, if I'm extrapolating what I'm extrapolating from what you said. I just think we as the public have changed. Are there anomalies like Oppenheimer that makes almost a billion dollars that's a physicist or scientist from the 1950s, 1950s, 1940s?
Starting point is 00:53:27 Yes, of course, yes, there's occasional moments. But overall, the audience has changed. You go back in 10 years. years ago, those are different movies that are being nominated for Best Fiction than the one now. Go back 24 years ago, they're more populous films. But we as a culture have changed, and we have to take responsibility for that. And I think that's the point. The critics have one thing and it's like, oh, the critics versus the fans. It's not that. The fans have changed. Moviegoers have changed. We've become much more of a reality TV.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Running to the latest thing to talk about it on social media, ADD type of society. And I'm not scoffing ADD. Anybody has it, of course. respect, but it's that quick hit, right? And so we are much more of a society like that now than we were in the past. And the things we find entertaining are different than the things we found entertaining before. Like in the past, I think more of the public was into these films that challenged us mentally and politically or socially or in our, or relationship-wise or whatever. It's much more challenging stuff. Nowadays, we see different things that entertain us. we'll go spend money on different things that entertainers that are bigger.
Starting point is 00:54:36 And I think that's at the core of why a lot of these artists go after these Marvel movies because they see these Marvel movies as an extension of what some of them have said is the dumbing down of the movie goer. I don't agree with that, but some of them have said that, right? And so that's what they look at because I think these Marvel films are much more complex and much more nuanced than people think. And so this is what we're seeing now. So we're going to have this disconnect because the artists are now firmly on one side
Starting point is 00:55:01 where they used to be much more of the mainstream, the artist and I'm much more moved to the right or to the left, and the mainstream wants something else that they want to put up. So it's up to the academy to decide what they want to do. I think it should stay pure to its goals, but I would not be surprised if it starts to move in some of these more popular films as they increase the people who can vote for the Oscars. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:24 I'd like to see overall what the ratings you're going to be like, because that was the other argument against people saying how the ratings were still really good for network television i i i just i don't agree with it um so we'll see but uh look last story that i want to bring up here too is this is well the story it's so this is the story of him uh david corns sweat posing with jizzi gonzalez for new boston promo is she's people want to see uh her as wonder woman but that's not necessarily the whole story i want to talk about this picture of him flying people i mean you talk about people losing their minds over something Superman star David Corrin Sweat and Bloodshots.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Is it easier? Azza Gonzalez. Are the face of a new boss scene campaign and didn't take long for one fan to transform them into the man of steel and wonder woman Superman will likely be the movie that puts Corrin Sweat on the map turning him into an a-list star in the process his profile has already skyrocketed since been cast as the DC use Man of Steel and now he's the face of Boss the scent Twister's actor has been joined by ambulance and star Eziah Gonzalez for the campaign of fun coincidence, seeing as many fans would like to see her play Wonder Woman. They look pretty great together and it surely won't surprise you to see that it almost took no time for someone to transform them into Calell and Diana Prince. It works wonderful.
Starting point is 00:56:46 And it might be a glimpse at what's to come when James Gunn finally cast the new Wonder Woman. Let's see if there's actually. Is there a picture of it? Oh yeah. Well, there's the picture of the two of them together, but did they do an actual Wonder Woman? Oh, there it is. That's pretty good. She does look pretty good as one of them though.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Yeah. She'd be great. I do like her. I think she's great. Yeah. So the other thing, though, look, the casting and idea, you never know what James Gunn. He probably could see this. And he's on, I feel like the guy's got seven different clones of himself because I don't know how much spend.
Starting point is 00:57:16 He's able to do whatever he does with production and directing and writing and still have time to post as much as he does. Yeah. But that would be great to see to see her. I think she's a great choice for Wonder Woman. But the story I was going to ask you about is they had this flying scene. The most controversial barrel role in history. Losing their minds over this thing. Is it one of these things where it doesn't matter, whatever comes out,
Starting point is 00:57:44 people are going to complain about it because it's not Henry Cavill. And look, I wanted Henry Cavill. I wanted him back. I thought he got screwed. But he's not back. This is Superman. And he looks good as Superman. and you're going to judge it off
Starting point is 00:57:58 one TV spot, you're looking to me, you're reaching. What a Petino say? You know, Larry Bird isn't walking through that door. This is the Celtics team now. Same thing here. This is the Superman now that you're going to have David, David Corence wet and James Gunn, and the approach they're taking. I think there are some
Starting point is 00:58:13 people who are invested in trying to tear this thing down no matter what gets released about it. You know, some people complaining about the PR campaign, some people complaining about the stills and the shots and all of that. And then this new teaser, I thought was pretty cool. I mean, having Lex Luthor finally seeing Nicholas's Lex stepping out
Starting point is 00:58:29 of that huge ship. I thought that was great. The barrel roll was such a small part of it. Am I cool? Do something fun. Spinning around. No big deal. But if you're like, oh, my God, the special effects or the look, it's so ridiculous. And I just think people have an axe to grind on this film. And some people
Starting point is 00:58:45 even come after me, you know, because I've highlighted a couple things about James Gunn. The truth is, I'm just speaking from an honest point of view. I think there was nothing wrong with that teaser. It was a lot of fun. It's exciting. You get the energy and vibe that he's going for and yes he's going to take chances with superman and uh i thought people want to see that so why don't we wait till the whole thing comes out but this whole reaction to it is such a it's it's a comical overreaction because people want attention it's really that's what it could be
Starting point is 00:59:11 could be um all right it's question time and i'll tell you like last last week when i looked because step going into thursday when she went up getting 120 something whatever she did going into it yeah she had 26 questions or something like that going into today john yeah you have 32 well starting with 32 so i'm not as interesting or as hot as step though so you know someone said you were going to say that i was waiting for you to say it because someone said you were going to say that and it's like watch as soon as you tell roka that someone won on thursday and it was a single it was someone who's gonna say yeah but it was step and she's she's more interesting and hot come on so there you go so i'll let you do what you got to do tell us where to find you oh yeah me oh yeah you can find me uh come on over
Starting point is 00:59:59 to my youtube channel guys youtube dot com slash john roca says so much happening there would love to have you all uh see the content we are going on the hot mics over there jett i way is over to the geek buddy certainly having some fun and i'm doing more and more live shows uh i'm finding that that's more where i want to be in 2025 so i will do hop-up shows on random topics that are in the world of entertainment so come and hang out and see all that stuff that we're doing over there on the Outlaw Nation channel, YouTube.com slash John Roker says. We'd love to get 50,000 subscribers as soon as possible.
Starting point is 01:00:31 We're so close. I'd love to have you all join us over there, and you can follow me on social media at the Roka says everywhere you go for social media. Thank you for doing that. And so we now, as I said, we're going to start out right now at 34 questions. I'm pretty damn good. Starting with the first. And this is from Bo 26.
Starting point is 01:00:53 Roker, respect to Jaden Daniels and the command. Yeah, totally. Going to be a problem for a while, but not right now. As always, Fly Eagles Fly. Stop that. How do Giants feel? Fans got to feel right now. Oh, I'm not, I don't think I'm going to watch the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 01:01:05 I'll just watch the commercials. Yeah, the trailers. Yeah. I don't like it. I'm so bored with both of these teams. Just so bored with them. And it's like, yeah, it's one of this. I'll shove some food in my face and watch the trailers and everything.
Starting point is 01:01:19 And I'll be less, like, because I was actually for commanders if they were in it, I was actually going to like buckle down and actually watch the game. Yeah, yeah. Root for you and you and Ellis. But now I know that, okay, well, good, I can go record something. I don't care if I missed the game. I just cannot stand the Eagles and I'm so over Mahomes and everybody else too. So I don't care.
Starting point is 01:01:40 It just leaves a bad taste of those games. Because both of those games had numerous questionable calls by the officials that favored the favorite team. Right. And so in the end, you're just like, but listen, we were going to get beat by the Eagles either way. So that's fine. but the bills fans should feel hard done by that game and the two terrible calls by the officials on the fourth and one and the and that catch that was not a catch in any way shape or form by Xavier worthy so you know you understand that kind of situation but these are arguably the two best teams so you are getting two powerhouses in the Super Bowl which is what the NFL wants but I agree with you I'm almost little to no interest in watching the Super Bowl I'll be doing the trailer reactions more than anything else I'll do that and I'll do what I always do is will you have snacks and stuff for the kids because I like to do that. And then when the halftime show is on, say, my wife will come in and watch it and we'll do that. But like, I couldn't care less,
Starting point is 01:02:31 who wins? I probably, probably just because it's the Eagles, I'll say good, let the chiefs do it again. Who cares? But I'm so, I'm so bored with both these teams. And I, but we'll say it. We'll see. Steve S. Hey, I loved your squid game reaction. Thank you. You're one of the few that watched it. You must react to the anth series called Secret Level. especially the episode with Arnie voicing an arrogant would-be king. That's good. That's so good. I love that.
Starting point is 01:02:58 I didn't see it, but it'd be so good. I could be a king. Come on. I could be arrogant, but have you met whiskey and Lulu? Come on. What are we doing? You know, some people, they say that I'm always angry. It's not true.
Starting point is 01:03:13 I'm not angry. I make fart sounds. You have to decide. Am I making fart sounds? You can make fart sounds if you're angry. And this is angry fart sounds going, Vah, it doesn't make sense. So you get to think before you type.
Starting point is 01:03:26 You cannot do this. You cannot just type things and not think about what you're doing. Otherwise, you can time out. Bye-bye. Like he says in Mufasa, bye-bye. Hank Pim. Y! Rumble predictions.
Starting point is 01:03:42 I got flare winning in your face TV. I think that's, I agreed. You don't bring a back to not give it that shot. Drew dumping. Drew McIntyre? I don't think so. I think he kind of, he hit his peak again. Jumping out Sina to win the men's is my first going.
Starting point is 01:03:59 I think Sino, Sina or punk. Punk could win, but not Sina. You don't think Sina? You really want John Sina to fight Gunther or Cody for the title? Do I want? You're asking two different questions. Well, that's what's going to happen if he wins.
Starting point is 01:04:15 You're asking two different questions. You're asking if we want it, or do we think that the W.E. will want most people will want to see sina a lot of people will want to see sina go for it one more time he's a lot to see a match in five years all right i'm not disagreeing with you i'm just telling you the way that they set that up in the first raw with him putting that out there he's going to be in the final five there's no doubt about it right um yes no i think you'll come in late yeah like i like i like drew mcgitre so much more as a heel and what he's done over the last like three years but i just the guys lost too many times in big in big opportunities that i just feel like it's ruined the
Starting point is 01:04:56 air of like oh that guy could be dominant i just think no one's even thinking about rains rains could throw everybody over and then it's a rematch with him and cody yet i guess you know the thing is too you don't you don't need rains to win it because rains could rains could just have a storyline leading up to it to get himself a qualifying match so maybe why would you waste that on him um but yeah i i'd like but as far i don't think any anybody disagrees. Flair versus that Tiffany. Yeah. That's that's the yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:24 And she won't win. You got to put Tiffany over. You got to put her over. You got to let you don't let Flair come back and win right away. That's the idea is that they can split it again and she takes it back. It's like, let her stay a little dominant. Sal Sklicki. Sterlin Harjo or Rick Famoeia would be my choice is to helm the X-Men.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Rick would be interesting too. Yeah. I don't know Sterling as much too, but, um, sure. But, you know, you're probably going to, I think that the, Russo brothers will will launch it with an X-Men movie yeah like like gun with with Superman they're gonna put the dead pole yeah I think they're gonna do spin-off movies too I think you can get a cyclops movie I think you're gonna give it I think you start with X-Men though you start with the big one first because you can but then
Starting point is 01:06:07 you do spin-offs depending on who your cast is Tom Hanks what are both of your all-time five-time five-out-of-five-five-five-five-minute-five-five-minute- I mean Empire Shacks back is an all-time five out of five for me Colonel Sunshine is spotless mine is a five-a-five-five-five brave hearts a five out of five for me godfather two is a five out of five for you do you know what i found out this weekend go ahead my wife has never seen any of the godfather movies that's not a surprise barby did a whole thing about that so hey i'm not surprised um because i knew that at one point because we were watching the offer yeah and i felt like she had told me that she had
Starting point is 01:06:39 seen and she's like i've never watched any of them she's like i saw like maybe a scene or something i'm like oh my god that's one we got to do it is literally she's never seen them and i could never talk her into watching them she brought it up to me my wife was she was so upset about that I made her watch Team America that she was like why you make you watch a good movie she's like I've never seen any of the golf at him was like wait is that true she's like yeah no so maybe maybe we'll do those I love that yeah um Mike Joyce my homes must be stopped fly eagles fly whatever yeah I don't think it matters yeah I cares I don't want to see the Eagles win I hate the I don't want to see them I don't want to see
Starting point is 01:07:12 him win another one because I'm bored with them and I don't want to see them win because it's the Eagles so I don't it's I I don't know if I've cared less about a yeah about a Super Bowl in a very long time. There's no way the NFL doesn't let the Chiefs win to have Taylor Swift there on the field with Travis Kelsey and Holmes. There's no effing way that doesn't happen. So funny. So many people are saying that it's like WWE now. Ewak, so you so happy you started the Squid Game reactions. Please watch them. Simon's section. Hey, Christian, I can't wait to see you and Sam's reaction to Guardians the Galaxy Volume 2. Yeah, we shot it. It comes out tomorrow. Does Sam know that you
Starting point is 01:07:49 interviewed a legend that starred with Mary Poppins and Cliffhanger. You know, it's funny. I have to, I don't think she, you're talking about the Michael Rooker one. I got a, I have to, I have to find that on Fandango. Do I have that on my playlist? I'm not sure if I do. When you see them together, the background is snowy. You know what's so funny about that? It's hilarious that he brought that up because I just watched Guardians too. Yeah. And I completely, I've seen Cliffhanger a thousand times. Yeah. Until he wrote that just now, I didn't even put the connection together. The Rooker was in, Cliff. I've just, you know what?
Starting point is 01:08:23 I was so locked in him as Yondu. Yeah. And I, but I did say, oh, it's the long. You broke the code. And it's like, what, do you remember at the end of the very, the post credit scenes? Isn't Michelle Yo? She's in, she's in like that those credits. That's the original lineup of Guardians of the Galaxy is the end of the post credit scene with Michael Rosenbaum is that glass thing.
Starting point is 01:08:43 And then Mil. Miley Cyrus as the voice of that disembodied head. Is Michael Rosenbaum in that too? Yeah, that he's the guy. He's the guy that's all crystal or whatever. Oh, wow. I missed that too. But like,
Starting point is 01:08:52 and were they going to do anything with those characters? There was a conversation about a spin-off with them as possibly a series. Yeah, because Ving Rames is in it too. Yeah. It was like, it was like, I completely, until I watched that with Sam the other day,
Starting point is 01:09:05 I completely forgot that whole big cameo. And I'm like, oh my God, that's like a huge, they were clearly trying to do something with them. Oh, totally. They were going to do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:14 But nothing happened. Matt Thomas, what's up, Matt? Have either of you watched the new animated, Spider series yet for review. Curious about your thoughts have just finished it myself. Now, have you seen it? No, I didn't get it.
Starting point is 01:09:25 I didn't get it for whatever reason. I know why. I think there's a new contact over there, dude. And it's again, they switch people over again. And it's like, it's so frustrating. It's so frustrating. So I, we got to, we got to take a look into that and find out. It frustrates me more because Matt now is going to feel like, oh, well, I got him.
Starting point is 01:09:43 You know, he's going to get all caught. I don't believe that Matt is getting in Cleveland, too. I'm a big deal. I don't think that was Matt to know. Ralph, please react to Wolf of Wall Street with him. She's seen it. She's seen it. I asked, trust me.
Starting point is 01:10:01 She's seen it. I don't know if my friend Tina has seen it, but I don't know if she responds to it. If Sam had never seen Wolfel Wall Street, she'd be the perfect person in Washington. Oh, yeah. She's seen it, though. Ewan.
Starting point is 01:10:12 Did you hear the news that Danish actor, O'Ritch Thompson has been cast to play Sinestro in Landau? A solid character actor. I'm glad he won the role. No, I didn't hear that. Did you hear that job? Yeah, we talked about it on Geek Buddies over the weekend. He is two years older than Kyle Chandler,
Starting point is 01:10:27 so they're going with two guys in their... Oh, I see him, yeah. 60s, early 60s or late 50s. So it makes sense because Hal and Sinestro would be contemporaries. So you want to cast somebody who is in that age range. So I kind of like it. And what's the role he's going to play in all of this? Because remember, this is a detective type of...
Starting point is 01:10:47 show with a mystery of a death and or a murder and so what's senestro's role in all of this so i'm fascinated by it and i like olrick thompson certainly a strong actor uh on numerous continents so i'm looking forward i'm looking forward to that uh that series me too much so is that this year comes out or next yes i believe it does you sure i think it's next year is that right i think so i think lannert they started shooting i think lannage is next year early next year uh joshro gonzalez love the squid game Oh, no, you're right. June 20. Yeah, go ahead. Sorry. Love the squid game reaction.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Now let's get Christian to watch French New Wave Breathless. Four hundred blows. Paris belongs to us and clear from five to seven. Trying to get six people to watch my channel. These fools are trying to kill your channel. I know. What are they talking? I know.
Starting point is 01:11:31 Mad Sinister McCall. Best Snyder, Royals versus 76ers in the Super Bowl. Don Cheedle was snub for Best Smile at the Oscars. And Roker did karaoke at Trump's denoneration. Oh, I wish I did. I mean, I had come off better than Carrie Underwood. did i tell you that oh poor carry underwood that's not her fault it's not her fault but certainly is a sign if the music doesn't work and you're not on pitch maybe you shouldn't have taken
Starting point is 01:11:56 the job i don't know oh man uh simon section part two i'm curious in that civil war reaction the scene where sam tells steve that he knows a guy why did sam think it was black panther is it because he's black eye black chocolate chris jack chris rock joke oh i see so no i i i don't i'm not sure did she oh originally maybe because she knew that it was coming up. I think that she knew that we were getting close to that movie, so that's why she brought it up. So someone asked earlier, why is this show so early? John asked me today if he was able to do it,
Starting point is 01:12:29 and I was, so we did early. So I will tell you that we are most likely, but it wouldn't happen until February, we most likely moved the show back to 11 a.m. PST, 2 p.m. E.T. is of personal reasons for myself that I just can't I can't move around so it looks like that's and if I went any earlier John's probably the only one that would be able to do it earlier if they did it at like you know hey John I do six in the morning I'm up anyway um we did it
Starting point is 01:12:58 yeah but everybody else no no chance uh all the girls in people need their beauty sleep that's right if the Rousseau's will be involved in the next phase X-man I hope they don't direct too much I'm kind of over the look of their filmmaking they're good but I want to see movies to other people's lens. I mean, that's what their thought, I think Marvel's thought process was and then nobody cared about the other stuff, so that's why they went back to them. So, and I think that you're going to go and
Starting point is 01:13:22 hear people say, wait a minute, these movies are pretty awesome, these new Avengers movies, and people care. So I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, and then, by the way, 42 right now, John. I think we can get you 100 today. That's a good, that's a good sign for people to,
Starting point is 01:13:39 it's going to be hard because Wednesday I might not do a show live because you know who I'm interviewing on Wednesday? Oh, who you know. Piscopo. Oh, for the S&L doc? He's got a book. He's got a book that's coming out. So, and I'm going to talk to him about his book.
Starting point is 01:13:52 I'm asking some stories, I'm like some Eddie Murphy stories. You bet you're asking him about Johnny Dangerously. Oh, yeah. Definitely talking about that movie. I might have me on a hook once. Once. So good. Him working with Michael Keaton and all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:14:05 So, and I'm recording right around the same time. So it's going to be, tomorrow will be Roxy. Thursday will be Mike and Steph. and then Friday will be capes and cows Kips and Kowls. That's right. Miguel. Any very good filmmakers you guys want to see, make some mutant movies.
Starting point is 01:14:23 Could you guys see someone like Colin Travaro do X-Men? Barry Jenkins? Any suggestions? I don't know about Travaro. Yeah, I think you know. Yeah, I don't think so. Barry Jenkins, maybe, I think, you know, he said he wouldn't do Star Wars, but I would love to, and there's no world he'd ever do it.
Starting point is 01:14:39 I'd love to see a Robert Eggers X-Men movie. Oh my God. There's no world you will ever get that, but I'd love to see it. A Robert Eggers Wolverine movie, though, I think would be interesting. Bring back Matthew Vaughn. He did, he did, he, what, what? Did you see our guy? It's not, that's not fair.
Starting point is 01:14:55 Did you see X-Men first class? Did you see X-Men first class? 30 years ago. 30 years ago. Things change. 30 years. It came out in 2011. He knows X-Men, he was, he was pretty much the whole reason.
Starting point is 01:15:08 He had days of future past and everything, too. I don't like that world of Kingsman and he's playing with anymore. I agree with you. He's not going to make that for X-Men. He's not going to do that movie for X-Men? I think he's done. I think his touch and done. I think his style is done.
Starting point is 01:15:22 I think he's done. I really do. With the falling apart of that, didn't he do apocalypse? That's Vaughn as well. No, he didn't direct apocalypse. He didn't direct apocalypse.
Starting point is 01:15:32 Let me take it. You go and check that. There's no world that he directed. He did not direct that. He had a producer credit on us because he was attached to other ones. He didn't do anything with it. He wasn't on that movie. fine no the kick ass sequel wasn't that good he didn't do the sequel that was ladlow oh fine yeah exactly
Starting point is 01:15:47 uh Miguel Zane roca can you break any scoops or news or rumors tidbits here on christian show just a little no because i don't get paid for to do it on christian joe what he's talking about kiss my ass what even means of the guy he said he just literally said please to you and you tell him to kiss his ass that's but it's east coast kiss my eyes like it's playful it's not legitimate like Okay, maybe Miguel. Mattie, all bust. Yeah, Matthew,
Starting point is 01:16:12 on you're right. It's only, I like Stardust. I liked kick ass. Tony, he's only had one stinker. I didn't, I didn't like the second,
Starting point is 01:16:18 well, I did not like the second Kingsman and the, and the Kingsman. That's what I mean. Because all of the movies that are just like, they're all, to get out of the, I love the first Kingsman.
Starting point is 01:16:29 I love it. Yeah, out of that universe. It's like, it's like the mean girls thing. It's not going to happen. It's not trying to make it happen. It's not going to happen.
Starting point is 01:16:37 the Kingsman not going to happen. People don't care about it. And even the Argyle like tying it back in to get like this big pop. No one cares. No one cares. I want to see him do other stuff. He's on a downturn. I'm just saying he's on a downturn. I'm telling you, the guy's really good. I am two-fly cam. Hey, fellas, curious.
Starting point is 01:16:54 What do you guys both think about Gosling and Star Wars? I really hope he goes villain and breaks his mold. Don't need Ken and Star Wars. I don't think he's going to play Ken, but I think you're going to get more of a scoundrel type guy. I don't think he's going to be, he's going to be scoundrel. He's going to be like a cool kind of maybe like a mix between throwing a little humor in there, but a mix of something like that drive character, but not that dark. What do you think?
Starting point is 01:17:18 I love IM2 Fly Cam, but you know, Brock Gosling has done numerous roles in the past, but he was not Ken. So he can bring an incredible amount of talent to the role that he's going to play. And yes, he could play kind of like Jude Law did in Skeleton Crew, that roguish type of character that is kind of walking the line between good and evil so i think that's where you're looking at that's what you're looking at for ryan gassing and star wars could play a villain for sure but i think you want to cast him to play your lead as a hero so i think yeah i want to i it's a really smart move to get him in there
Starting point is 01:17:51 because like yeah i still stand by the fact that movie stars don't sell the tickets but having a movie star in a big ip can still can sell tickets yeah yeah uh simon Broke regarding that hot mic podcast the next Ocean 11 movie. You can't replace Bernie Mac. Kick it. Broke doesn't understand. I ain't afraid of UMF. Maybe the outlaw.
Starting point is 01:18:14 I don't know what that means. You got to replace Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner because they're both dead. Replace them or just or not like, but not recast them. No, no, not recast. You add new members to the team is all I was saying. You got to replace those numbers. I don't disagree with that. I don't disagree with that.
Starting point is 01:18:30 You just say, you know, of course you have to. otherwise the math doesn't add up i tell you right now kevin hard is on the phone he's been on the phone 24-7 trying to get in that yeah that makes me nervous that makes me nervous you got to get the rock in there i mean the rock makes sense as an ensemble piece it turns into a different movie you put him in there turns in a different movie uh-ewalk from x-men both sadie sink and olivia cook have been reported as being eyed for jean gray which report do you think is more accurate i'm going to say sadie sink because one of the guys on the show is who broke it is on it uh or are both accurate despite the actress age difference I I actually thinks I like Olivia cook a lot I
Starting point is 01:19:07 mean a lot I wouldn't be I wouldn't be disappointed if she got cast but when and I don't she's she's I think she's like mid 30s Olivia might be early 30s early 30s or if if 30s at all 30s at all but but Sadie sync is early 20 she's 31 she's 31 okay so Sadie sync is what 22 22 yes 22 It just depends. I mean, look, nine years is a difference. The question is what what version of Gene Gray are we going for? And I think that's going to ultimately decide on who gets cast. I was going to be.
Starting point is 01:19:43 No, no, go ahead. I was going to say either way, I'm not going to be upset with either one of them in cast, I love them both. I don't know if I see Olivia Cook as the lead of a team. And Gene Gray, in essence, is kind of, I know you got Scott Summers, you got Storm, but like there are moments where Gene leads the team. And I don't know if Olivia necessarily radiates that. look, Millie Alcock is the one being Supergirl. Why is that? Because Millie Alcock radiates that.
Starting point is 01:20:05 You know what I'm saying? She's got that energy. And oh, God, I can remember the actress who plays the older version of Millie Alcock and I was the dragon. She could lead a franchise. Oh, Emma Darcy? Emma Darcy, right. She's got that energy. I don't know if Olivia necessarily has that energy. Not because she's not a strong actress. She is a strong actress. But do I think she's the lead of a group of team?
Starting point is 01:20:23 I don't know if I see that. I don't know. I don't see that. I think Gene Grady's needs to have leadership quality. She's not necessarily the full on leader. And I don't know if I see that. Oh, I see it. I see it with the darkness. I see, and I think there's a darkness with Gene Graham. There's definitely a darkness to Olivia Cook.
Starting point is 01:20:37 So I'll push back with that one, but I think Olivia's going to put someone else. Yeah. Daniel Rahim. Right. Should people boycott the Super Bowl? Why? This could be the least watch Super Bowl of all time. It's always Chiefs versus Eagle.
Starting point is 01:20:51 Something needs to be done. The government should do something about this. I mean, you know, it's just a matter of people will watch it because it's a Super Bowl. But who cares is the game. question. The answer is, you know, people in Philadelphia care and people in Kansas City care. Nobody cares. It's like, Philly. Yeah. Philly, if you guys went, stop eating horse crap off the ground, for God's sakes. And the government should do something about it. It's hilarious. That is pretty funny. Yeah, a lot of people. I saw a lot of
Starting point is 01:21:17 people tweeting out saying it was fixed. Oh, yeah. I mean, you can't look at some of those calls and not think it was somewhat fixed. Well, how can I say this? You can't look at some of those calls and not have a question. Do you know, it doesn't mean. It doesn't mean. you believe in conspiracy theories i don't believe in that stuff but is it possible yes i think you have to say it's possible yeah um all right so so far john 44 not too bad with uh 40 minutes left and you got jake have you guys seen the new sinners tv spot now i don't i try to stay away from tv spots i'll watch full trailers but tv spots i try to stay away from okay what did you see it yeah it was on during the game so i had no choice but to see it um yeah it's clear that
Starting point is 01:22:00 At least from the TV spot, it seems like they might not be the vampires, as was originally reported, I think, by deadline of variety when they were doing the description of the movie. It might be that these people who show up are the vampires and they've got to fight them off the whole night. So it's a fascinating thing. Or the people that show up are werewolves because they talk about picking things clean. And they are vampires.
Starting point is 01:22:24 And it's going to be like vampires versus werewolves, that whole movie, which would be super interesting for a Ryan Cougler. I'm curious to see how that. I'm really pumped for that movie. Yeah. Al Wrenshaw, we need a new Star Wars trilogy, not one-offs.
Starting point is 01:22:35 I disagree. I think because of the team that we have right now, they don't make plans. If we had a team in place, a production team that said, okay, hey,
Starting point is 01:22:44 here's our layout, and here's the Bible of what we need to do for the next three movies. Yeah. And we wanted to start here and end here, and let's get a writer's room, put this together.
Starting point is 01:22:53 If we had that kind of production, I'm like, yeah, sure, do another trilogy. You don't have that. You have like, oh, hey, let's do, we're going to do three movies so-and-so so-and-so and so-and-so we're going to direct what are the movies we'll figure it out we don't they can't do that anymore and that's what they did with the new trilogy and that's what
Starting point is 01:23:06 they continue to do with all of their movies so no do the one-offs and maybe if you become as becomes more successful without announcing a trilogy yeah you just start to do oh hey that movie did really well we're going to do a second one and it did even better than the first one we're going to do a third now and you don't announce it that's what happened with the they didn't announce star wars in 1977 as a trilogy no right it was all built through people going to see the movie and him writing on the fly to create what exactly uh matt b i saw a complete unknown yesterday and while it was a good movie five or six directors could have made it mangled over neneas baffling so i said this i look i love complete unknown i don't necessarily agree that you know there are people
Starting point is 01:23:48 there are definitely people that could other directors that could have made it i don't know if you would have had the same movie um and and you don't know if you would have gotten the same performance out of Shalemi who maybe worked really great with Mangold because he gets great performances out of people. But I would not have, if I was voting, I would not have voted Mangold as much as I love that movie over Denny. No, I agree with you. Yeah. I would have taken Deni over Mangold. I think he did a nice job directing the movie, but they're better directed films for Mangold. Yeah. And I also wouldn't have taken the director of Anora over John M. Chu. I wouldn't have taken the director of Amelia Perez over John M. Chu.
Starting point is 01:24:25 That's where I would have left Anora alone. I like Sean Baker. I like Sean Baker do. I just don't think he, I just, I saw both movies and I think they're both directed brilliantly, but Wicked is a, look,
Starting point is 01:24:36 Anora was in my top 10 and Wicked wasn't, but I think that it was a better directed movie. I agree. What was asked of him was way higher. This is tough to do. I agree. Go pal, fun surprise,
Starting point is 01:24:47 early stream. Yeah, that's, that's all John today. We got able to get it. early shenny christian for let you do that yeah of course uh this is praet bk i won't be watching super bowl f the rigged NFL yeah i got it um no it was not a hit it was a hit on wait a minute i'm smart said look up the box office for shawshank redemption not a hit at the time that's what i
Starting point is 01:25:09 said it was not a hit it was literally said that it was a it was a bomb in the box office uh but the awareness was there of it yeah that's the difference the aware people knew what it was just don't we went and saw it uh go pal sad that the football team's run came to an end but congrats on the magical year now we have to hope the chiefs can keep the hated eagles from a trophy yeah it's it doesn't matter over yeah it's like one of those things really just could not care less about that yeah go pal matt damon matt damon she did laugh at that she left at that quite a few times she left at that she left at the puppet sex and she laughed at um there were a few times that she definitely laughed that loud for what about the songs did she like any of the songs
Starting point is 01:25:49 She laughed at a few of them, but she was just like, she goes, this is really racist, is what you said at one point. And I was like, you gotta look at again what the time of what this was and what they're trying to say. I'm like, the movie was meant to offend everyone. The movie was literally meant to offend everyone. Pete Parker 2288. I love when you guys debate transformers.
Starting point is 01:26:07 I know a lot of people hate them, but it's impressive that they made so much money. How did they make so much money? Because people were, look, there is no arguing. And you, what you won't hear me, as much as I think those movies are an abomination to transform. from the first one until the last one minus bumblebee and transformers one what you cannot and never hear me say is how great the special effects were yeah the idea when
Starting point is 01:26:32 that movie came out in 2007 the first one I remember the hype around it and regardless of what I feel about that movie it was something else to watch that highway scene and seeing transformers come to life on a highway turning into robots and not looking like bad CGI. And they continue to do it. The sound is really, it's a spectacle. It is built for summer movie fun. It is.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Yeah. It's just a matter of you, it's a shut your brain off thing. And I don't think Transformers needs to be that. And because I was such a fan of it as a kid, that's why I think the movies are, um, fart pieces, as they call it. Well,
Starting point is 01:27:11 I was just as fan of them as a kid as Christian was. And, uh, I will say to you, those movies are a lot of fun for the stupidity that they are. The stupid fun that they are, rather. And clearly, a lot of people felt the same way. You don't make $4.5 billion as a franchise off those movies if it isn't a lot of people feeling the exact same way about it. Kept going down. Each movie kept going down.
Starting point is 01:27:38 It went up to a billion, and then it went down. They kept going down. Matt Bull, who do you have winning the men's row? What's up, James? We talked about earlier. I think mostly I do think that scene will win and I think if not Sina then punk yeah and who do you I have Roman reigns and I have Roman reigns in my life but I don't know what the storylines are just yet but I see yeah yeah uh Christian is that a Transformers one hoodie it's awesome yeah it is yeah I got
Starting point is 01:28:04 this this one in that hat I love these and this morning I didn't want to double I didn't want to double letter it so I just wore the um and plus if I said I went to get my um I went to get my um I went to get my my uh my dmb thing today so i license if i've got to change it over to new york so yeah um finally after being here for eight months um all right let's see next one and this one is from hank pym margaret quiley is my oscar snub agree other than deny insane the lady from conclave got a nom for that super small role of requa yeah we talked about this for a while myself and step i love isabella rossely love her she did not have a bigger or better performance performance than then margher quailie mark really was like the i mean you could have given her you could
Starting point is 01:28:49 have given her best actress for that movie um it was such a small role by she was great i loved conclever but but she was great but come on uh yeah i disagree i think isabel was great in that movie and just because it's not a showy role doesn't mean she wasn't doing a lot of inner work and when you're watching her in those scenes for me i think she's doing incredible work leading up to the monologue everything doing in those scenes that you have with her is leading up to that monologue where she calls them out yeah i don't disagree you think she's more great she's better than margar qualey no but i don't think margher quali i don't think is the one you remove from that list um i don't i got to look at it come back to me i go look at it but i don't think it's her okay and i like margaret should absolutely have been
Starting point is 01:29:35 she should absolutely been nominated johnny patreza i don't know who will remember or know this but for old time say christian can i get a win a goldfish here keep up the amazing work love you guys I mean that was that was a staple of Clyde Alive so if anybody who watched anybody who watches this show watch Clyder Love everybody knows that that was I mean that was from Tom Dagnino's thing went to go for a champ that was the bad it was everywhere it was that it was that was like that almost if it wasn't for Zerflirt and Flaus that was the thing that we did on one of our shows that that almost went viral was a flirt and plows went viral yeah I mean he was trending yeah which is the best mad Sinister Macau worst best best best best
Starting point is 01:30:15 picture winner at the Oscars crash or no man land if I went to I know what John's gonna say I already know what John's gonna say if those are the only two choices no I know no I know you're gonna choose you can choose Green Book if I went to hell tomorrow they probably have no man land on a 24-7 loop um what was it I'd have to look at all the list but was it Shakespeare in love over saving private Ryan was crazy okay that's different that's you're not saying it's I'm not saying it's the worst one though no no because I because I that's That's a great movie.
Starting point is 01:30:46 Right. It's a great movie. But I just think that it's crazy that it beats saving par right. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I have to look, dude. I have to look at that list. But out of those, the ones that I'm thinking of, yeah, probably crash. Yeah, it's probably crash.
Starting point is 01:31:03 But I mean, don't discount greatest show on Earth, which is horrible, but that's going way back in time. But yeah, I mean, those are the, I think Crash is just the number one. And if Amelia Perez wins, then Crash will probably be replaced by me. me the oppress. Okay. Next one here. And this one comes in from Buster Barnes. I have no issue with Superman flying scene. Sure, the angle is compared with a black Adam or warlock, but I think it looks better. That's just me though. Apparently James Gunn talked about it. Oh. And said something along the lines about, I don't know, what did he say? I guess from the way the wide angle lens or whatever
Starting point is 01:31:40 it was that it doesn't look like that in the theater. I don't know. But you said, kiss my ass. until the movie comes out. Exactly. You overreactionary A-holes. Yep. All right. Next one. Here we go.
Starting point is 01:31:55 Tough loss, John. But there's Joe for show. But Jaden's going to wreak havoc in the decision, but at least your team has a chance next year and isn't hiring Schottenheimer. I don't know. I know everybody came out, and he's talking about Dallas. I know everybody came out on this one and was basing Schottenheimer. But Schottenheimer comes from good lineage.
Starting point is 01:32:14 His dad was former coach as well, the commanders. This is a good possibility for him. He works well with DAC. He works well with the offense. I think it's not going to be as negative of a higher as people think. And yes, he's got to play to Jerry. That's the game. But give the guy a shot.
Starting point is 01:32:31 Let's see what he can do. Can't do no worse than this year, in my opinion. So if everybody stays healthy. So don't discount it. Don't discount. Johnny's coming back in. Johnny Petruza. Broca, Liverpool with 53 points.
Starting point is 01:32:42 Arsenal with 47. How are you feeling? I'm hoping we close the gap in the new couple games best of luck to you though. Hold on. Let me reread that and how I heard it. That's good. Yeah, looking, I mean, feeling okay. Next five games are a tough stretch.
Starting point is 01:33:03 We'll see what happens, but Arsenal's been dropping points, but they are winning, but don't look out, but look out for Man City. They're starting to win again. They moved in the top four. So that's always scary. If they found, if they found their footing, everybody's in trouble. that's what I said. Okay, this next one.
Starting point is 01:33:18 Thank you so much. Elypsis 10. With all the 80s, nostalgia IPs, are you surprised we never got a Voltron? They're working on Voltron and Thundercats. Will we? Yes, they're already working on Voltron.
Starting point is 01:33:28 Voltron Justin Marks from Shogun fame and was working on Voltron for a bit, but now Henry Cavill's in Voltron. That's already happening. Thundercats, who's the guy who directed the last Kong movie? What's his face? Adam Wingard. Adam Wingard.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Yeah, yeah. Adam Wingard. Yeah, Wingard is directing. well, wants to do with Thundercats movie. His is very, he's passionate about getting it done. The question is, is it the next thing? We don't know. But there's lots of conversations about both of those.
Starting point is 01:33:56 So I'm not surprised because they're happening, or at least been talked about. Okay. Next one here is we get to 51 so far. Not bad. Not bad on a Monday on an early show. Carlton Rudder. London calling, sorry, still busy at work.
Starting point is 01:34:12 We'll catch the episode tomorrow. Sent you a photo on Twitter, John. didn't know you did your own clothing brand. What's that all about? Yeah, there's a designer, a Scottish designer called John Roka, and he has been doing things for years. So people occasionally find some of this stuff out in the world and send me pictures.
Starting point is 01:34:29 So yeah. But yeah, shout out to John Roker. He does all kinds of things. A huge brand. I've seen the Roker brand, actually. He's an old school guy, right? Yeah. Jake, why does a camera keep cutting to Taylor Swift up in the booth?
Starting point is 01:34:44 all excited like we give her crap because her fans do. She's not shocked at the outcome. I don't get it. Because her fans care. Who do you think they're putting them on there for the three of us? Yeah. Listen, I get it and I get it. She has a right to be at the game. They didn't take any shots of Haley Steinfeld.
Starting point is 01:35:05 And she's Josh Allen's fiance. I don't know where she was in the stance. But like the thing that bothers me about the Taylor Swift thing, it's not that they show her. I don't care about that. It's that Taylor does this act of hers that she's done her whole life. And it is beyond frustrating, right? Like every time she wins an award,
Starting point is 01:35:22 she's always like, me, me for the 15th time, you gave it to me? And it's like, come on with the fake humility. And then when they scored that touchdown that Patrick Mahomes did near the end of the game, they ran it in. They shot to her and she's like, a touchdown in a football game. It's that extra level of shock on her face. She was like this.
Starting point is 01:35:43 like anyone around her including Kelsey's mom is like yeah all right and she's all like shocked that a touchdown so you're not buying it no it's yeah it's just that
Starting point is 01:35:55 I don't really buy a lot with Taylor and look she's like Lively's best friends so take that for what it is and I just feel there's a little there's just a little bit and I see people starting to turn and some people call it out over the weekend
Starting point is 01:36:08 like there's a little bit of an ick going on with her as a backlash so There's a bit of an ick. I love, like, so Luke, our great producer, Luke has. But unfortunately, my Twitter is wrong. I'm related to Boris Karloff. Wait, what?
Starting point is 01:36:26 Christian Karloff. So Christian Karloff got a bunch of new followers today. It's like the chiefs of the chefs. Yeah, he's in the chat room, so he knows he's laughing. Oh, you know, he's, Luke is the saving grace for this freaking channel. Luke, you're fired, Luke, you're fired. Mike Joyce what was the last Oscar movie with as much online vitriol as Amelia Perez I feel like probably Green Book I feel like the people most upset about it saw clips online
Starting point is 01:36:51 I'm it makes me want to see it um which is off through it I want to do that reaction do that reaction I know I'm I'm I'll check I'm gonna I'm gonna check it out because I just the clips that I've seen doesn't look like anything that I would want anything to do with but I'm gonna but I want to like I said I don't want it I I said this last week and I'll say it again and I will see brutalist and I will see Amelia Perez before the Oscars because I do not want to be one of those people as like oh it shouldn't have won I mean I didn't see it right so the movies that were nominated and see it as I got to go and check it out I haven't watched a full movie I wasn't sure
Starting point is 01:37:27 to make it until the ending I really liked it was in my top 30 of last year damn Mike so a lot of stuff get to the top 30 top 30 okay next one here and as we get to 54 let's see what they we'll see what they do let's see they keep you on the air for a while oh well almost at the end i don't know i think so uh jim one could the halftime show underperform as there are many people who are tired of rb and rap the super bowl of yes nfl may pivot back to rock or country act i don't know because kendry's pretty big right now hendrick is massive right now big so maybe not and we just had an inauguration with nelly snoop dog rick ross and other rap people at it
Starting point is 01:38:07 so what are you talking about that people are sick and tired of rm b and rap they're not yeah i don't I don't think so. Yeah, I don't think that'll have any of different. Here's my thing. And I've said this on game time. I think Drake is going to show up at the Super Bowl. You think so? I think the greatest thing.
Starting point is 01:38:24 And you think they're going to sing together? Yes. I think the greatest thing they can do to put the kibosh on this whole thing is for Kendrick and Drake's people to be having talks behind the scenes. And Drake comes in in the middle of whatever, and they go toe to toe on a raft. And that would explode the, universe there is no world where that happens can you want you do you want to double up on a stake on that no no no i'm just saying i i would love to see that i think that would damage i think
Starting point is 01:38:52 that would damage uh kendricks brand if they did that i think it i don't know much i don't know which kentheny lits timothy shall may singing dillon songs on s and l was cool it was cool and i saw um i i didn't i we just watched a little bit of it last night we watched up into the first performance because then we all went to bed and watch with my with my daughter and my wife and I like that he wasn't trying to do a Dylan impression or even acting as Dylan. He was just singing Dylan songs, but in his way. I think he was on Josh Harwich's show, and he talked about how they sent him like unreleased Dylan songs.
Starting point is 01:39:29 I wonder if that was the unreleased. Was that what it was? Those were, yeah. Those are the unreleased songs, is what he sang? And he probably got, obviously got permission from Dylan to do that. Yeah, from the movie. I did see a very funny thing, though, on Twitter where someone said, this is Bob Dylan watching Timothy Shalame right now and it was Demi Moore watching
Starting point is 01:39:47 Margaret Qualey from substance. It was pretty funny. But I thought I think Timothy Shalome is a next level superstar. That was one of the worst episodes he's done. Like it was not that funny. And I was like I love that stupid. I didn't see the whole thing. Like I said, I only see the first half,
Starting point is 01:40:05 but I love that stupid aerobics. Oh, yeah, yeah. That was hilarious. but I haven't seen all the rest of it though did he do did he do the rapper guy again yes no he did it and didn't play as much didn't quite hit the right mark he needs they need did did Pete Davidson come back yes oh he did so yeah okay so I do need to see that again because I because they work very well together but I don't know uh Cips chips Baywick what's up any rumors news on movies about the attack on the Capitol on what are your dream choices
Starting point is 01:40:39 No, but I wonder, I'm sure they're going to do that eventually, right? Cast, director. I mean, they're not going to do it within the next four years. No one's going to, yeah. I mean, like, yeah, you would risk the ire of Trump and his people. There's no way you. They'll do it once he's no longer with us. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:57 That's when they're going to do that. It'll probably happen like 20, 30 years. Yeah, because, you know, as we saw Hill Attack, yeah. Armada. J-Lo and Kiss of the Spider-Woman remake. Is that happening? It's got screamed at, Sundance, I think is
Starting point is 01:41:10 that what's going on right now, Sundance? Yeah, you got screened. Yeah, so you're going to be first in line for that, John? No, hell no. I love this. This is amazing, this world of ours. J-Lo was dead and buried months ago. The divorce with Affleck, nobody went to see her shows, those videos.
Starting point is 01:41:26 She canceled her show because no one was buying tickets to her tour. Then Unstoppable comes out on on Prime Video and people talking about how great she is. And now this movie's coming out and people talk about how great. She hasn't actually saw someone ask her something about like how she's an icon for young gay kids and it's like do we all forget that she's not singing her music she's not that great of a choreographer and she's a hit or miss actress so
Starting point is 01:41:48 clearly you know people's minds or people's memories are very short that's i just said before people forget very fast yeah the de i champ morning guys just woke up i'll listen to the show at work later all we can ask brother roka did you watch the section 31 disaster boggs i've heard nothing but negative What is that? It's the new Star Trek movie with Michelle Yeo. And I have heard so many terrible reviews from Star Trek friends of mine that I'm just dreading that I'm going to watch it. But I will have to watch it sometime this week. But yeah, I'm not looking forward.
Starting point is 01:42:20 Pratee BK. Have you guys tried Deep Seek? What is that? An engineer working in machine learning, it blew me away. China's technology superiority ain't no joke. American AI market crash incoming folks. I know what is Deep Seek? What is that?
Starting point is 01:42:34 is that a documentary it's probably makes me nervous you there's stuff that they have though is pretty nuts um it's it's pretty nuts so like if you if you look at some of those robots and other things that they have oh please yeah yeah we're done man we're done i'm telling you jake mel gipson talking about flight risk on joe rogan the movie is quick we're not subjecting into the four hours of watching autism dry all right mel that's what he said i don't want to see um i do want to see the movie. I'm curious to see how it, how it is. Hey, I'm taking over the plane. Okay, guys.
Starting point is 01:43:08 It's got a receding hair line, right? I got a receding hair. My hair's missing. Where's my hair? You know, John, I don't really like the way you're talking about this movie. I don't appreciate it. Just because I let Mel Gibson's girlfriend direct me in a movie. Come on. It's not. I'm not, I don't really like what you're doing here. Come on. Jamal, Bernard,
Starting point is 01:43:26 Pulliam. Would you be interested in seeing a real sequel to the Mass with Jim Carrey? I'd be curious. I'd be curious. I'd be curious because, I mean, obviously, Cameron Diaz was all excited when she heard that Jim Carrey said that he would do it. But the question is like, you can't do it the same way you did in 94 because it's for so many different reasons. You don't have young Jim Carrey to do the same kind of stuff that he did back then. It's not the same kind of as John was talking about before, the sensibility the way people watch movies and people in comedy. It'd be risky to put it in the theater.
Starting point is 01:43:53 And I don't think Jim Carrey does streaming movies. It'd be almost like what they do, they did with Happy Gilmore. When is that movie coming out? they still haven't talked about that this not even a trailer there was a there was a little trailer teaser yeah it was like a yeah what's going on with that i was so i thought it was coming out in january yeah who knows excited about that one um but you think they could do mass too i think but it would have to be a like a really i think it has to be a really interesting comedic director yeah because carry is not what he was before in terms of like the mindset but he's done great stuff with the sonic stuff right so you're like
Starting point is 01:44:28 okay jim still got the instincts but what's the story you're going to going to tell here and that apparently that Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxville was horrible. So like you got Yes, you started watching. Yes, you started watching. It was just like this is dreadful. Yeah. She's like it was like a kid's movie. Philip H. Dad. What do you all think about Moonlight actor Trevante Rose being cast as Black Panther? I think he would be great because of his range and look. I look. I trust Ryan Cougar. Ryan Coolego thinks he can do it. Yeah. then yeah it's to me that's that's where i put all my trust in ryan cougar i mean he's you talk about a guy that has done no wrong what movies is he done that hadn't been good i mean
Starting point is 01:45:08 you can't say well black panther two i didn't love black panther two but i don't fault him for that he the guy had to spin around a whole different movie because his lead actor passed away um and and you see what he did he got and he put together a movie that got angela bassett uh you talk about snubs yeah so ryan cougar has done no wrong in my book Yeah, whoever he casts for the new Black Panther, I'm 100% on board with, whoever it is. Yeah. So, yeah. All right, let's see.
Starting point is 01:45:35 Got a couple left. We're at 62 now. 62, not bad. So motor rolling. Punk is getting eliminated by Rollins to set up their second match at Elimination Chamber, best of three at Mania. My thoughts anyway. I like that.
Starting point is 01:45:48 I would like to see them battle. I just don't know how many more matches Punk's got because he's just, he's older. You know, he can get hurt real fast. So you'd assume they're going to want. want to give him one i guess they probably would set up a he has never main evented mania wants to do that probably part of his deal to do it you know and you try to get him one more title i don't know i think it's ironic that the guy who cried about the rock coming back years ago is now in the same position as the rock where he's the old guy and they want he wants to made event i mean that that makes
Starting point is 01:46:24 i love punk to pieces there's no big fan of punk than me on the planet but i i don't know if i like like the idea of him main eventing WrestleMania because his arguments are still the same that he used last time. The new people are the people he should be highlighting. Cody with the women, fucking Gunther, there's a lot. Sure, but at WrestleMania,
Starting point is 01:46:42 you also want to highlight your big stars and you can't say the people, people were complaining about him when he came in like, oh, look how slow he looks, doesn't look good. And yet he put on that match with Drew McIntyre and he put on that match with Seth. The guy still got it. So you give him
Starting point is 01:46:58 And eventually those athletes, they go out and the wrestlers, you can be, have a great match today and then your body doesn't do it tomorrow. So they got to capitalize in that. You just talk about Sina. Like Sina looks like he's 80 years old when he wrestles now. Sina's tough to watch now. Yeah, it's hard. And it just does it did it for so long. All those muscles at that age, you can't do it like you used to.
Starting point is 01:47:21 You just can't. Tom Hanks, Friday show wins because they can just beat whatever record was set for the week. I mean, they didn't win on Friday. So you're wrong. One time. No, one time. No, Steph has won a handful of times. You've won a handful of times.
Starting point is 01:47:35 Also, comics talk and more people are able to watch on Friday. Now, that one, you know, comics talks and more people were able to watch on Friday. You know, look, that's where they landed, right? But Mike came in thinking he was going to win because Mike was on two shows last week and he didn't win. Wow. Yeah, all right. It was on Tuesday and Friday, and they lost both. Luis, Sora Ramirez.
Starting point is 01:47:53 What's up, Luis? Morning, fellows. I know I'm late to the game, but thoughts on Ted Lassow. So we need to find Roka's old Pollo Loco commercial. That's the best. I forgot all about it. That was the best. We used to play it on Collider Live all of the time.
Starting point is 01:48:05 Yeah, I know. Luis, I made $30,000 off that commercial. So please, feel free to find it. Tell me with the last thing you paid $30,000 on, Louise. Well, he's not making funnier. He's just saying it a little bit. He's Latino. He's making fun.
Starting point is 01:48:16 No, he isn't. He's bald messing a little bit. The Ted Lasso, Ted Lasso, first season, really good. Ted Lasso afterwards is the law of diminishing returns. It's a little comical. in those last two seasons, how they make certain storylines work out. It becomes entourage level type of ridiculous in ways. But it doesn't mean there are good episodes and there aren't great performances.
Starting point is 01:48:39 Certainly Hannah Waddingham is great in that. But yeah, and if you're a big or football fan or soccer fan, it's a tad insulting at times at how they. Ted Lassau? Which those storylines. Yeah, yeah. I haven't seen. I saw one episode.
Starting point is 01:48:51 Oh, look. Okay. So there's somebody who joins this show. Everyone? Well, Super Chats on every, like any, it's usually, it's every show except this show. Hmm. However, today this person has joined. No, it can't be.
Starting point is 01:49:08 John Roker. Oh. The Poutlaw. The Pout law. Yeah. Here we go. Hey, folks. Quick, look how beautiful I am.
Starting point is 01:49:16 I'm a thoroughbred. I'm a fucking stud. Let it all soak in. Just let it soak. Hmm, feels nice, doesn't it? Yeah. None of those words, I would say. Would the outlaw say it?
Starting point is 01:49:25 Like all things, like all things, Tamu, it's a terrible, a terrible version of the original. Romara. Fantastic 4 trailer at the Super Bowl? Yes or no? I think he got a good shot. I would put it at 7030. Let me ask you this. Do you think they're pushing Fantastic 4?
Starting point is 01:49:49 The release date? No, they would have done that already. Okay. No. I know that that's a rumor, but. Where would you put it? I don't know where you would put it. Right.
Starting point is 01:49:59 That's the problem. You've got to move it to December against your own avatar, which is stupid. Oh, right. Yeah, which would be like, in November, which, who cares about November? Or push it again until next year. Why would you do that? They don't move it. They might move an extra week.
Starting point is 01:50:14 I mean, they're going up against Superman, dude. I know, but that's only like, but you're a couple of weeks removed, but that's, that's it. You're, you don't really, you may be able to push a, maybe a week past. Yeah. But nah, they're not going to move. Joe for show. All right, I'll give Shottie a chance, only because you said craps the cot.
Starting point is 01:50:31 Quinn will be cursed with the poops, like Ted Lassel leaving the pitch. All of that, again. That's what I heard. Fair point. Fair point. All right. Richard Ogator.
Starting point is 01:50:44 Hey, Kish. Hey, Roque. Hope you guys have a great week. What new trailers do you think we're going to see during the Super Bowl? Well, I do think you got a good shot. I mean, the ones that you're going to see a full trailer of sinners, I think, for sure.
Starting point is 01:50:53 I think you'll see a full trailer of Thunderbolts. And see, Superman, we get to that dog show one right afterwards. Oh, yeah. Jurassic World, maybe, the new Jurassic World. Yeah. But, and maybe Fantastic Four. Those are the ones I think for sure. Yeah, I think those are the ones.
Starting point is 01:51:12 Yeah. 100%. This is a tough question for me, but I'm not going to argue. I know my answer, but I'm not going to argue John's answer because I know he's pick jody's not even in the conversation no it's between prince and dylan and stepney litz is as best minnesota artist prince dillan as you garland for me it's bob dillon bob dillin is to me more of a poet because you said artist you didn't see musician musician you said artist um so i would say as an artist dillon john's gonna say prince it's tough i know i'm not gonna i'm not gonna i'm not gonna
Starting point is 01:51:50 it's not gonna be like a your crazy argument it's like i know i think you have to say Dylan and I'll say this because Prince reinvented himself at the beginning because it was Prince and the Revolution then it was Prince Prince and the New Generation but every iteration of Prince got worse whereas every iteration of Dylan when he went religious when he got out of religion when he went this other direction the rebirth of him over the last since the early 2000s
Starting point is 01:52:17 like Dylan has been able to reinvent himself with incredible music every single time great lyrics every single time time so you have to say overall it has to be dylan but you know most enjoyable maybe is prince but like yeah more fun more fun yes yeah you have to say you have to even prince i think would say yeah richard okatura also do you guys see that clip from james gun superman a clip superman flying that's kind of cool yeah i mean it's funny because richard more positive energy yeah what i did see was and Mike, Mike, of course, went after the guy by insulting the person, but some of the
Starting point is 01:52:52 guy goes, well, why is it Zach Snyder's the only person who has Superman flying like this? And meanwhile, there's like eight different versions of Superman flying like that. But I, look, I wouldn't even thought that it was a thing until people made a thing out of it.
Starting point is 01:53:08 So we'll see something. Yeah. Turbo. Shane Black for the mass director. That'd be interesting. Yeah, I think that could work. Can he do it? Has he ever done a non-rated our movie besides i know didn't he wrote monster squad right but did he ever direct what is all of his directing movies what is he i mean well no iron man three direct yeah iron man three right so he could he could do it yeah question what he wanted to do it he's only directed five things
Starting point is 01:53:36 that's crazy and he's done the comedy like kiss kiss bang bang has great comedy in it yeah iron man three was good nice guys has great comedy in it uh and the predator was horrible so maybe i think that's a good idea. Did I ever tell you this story? I don't know I've told that on the air, but so when I worked when I worked at Silver Pictures and he was in there all of the time. Of course. Because they were yeah. And so where my desk was, because at the time I was, I was assistant to both Eric Olson and David Gambino, which was turned out to just be too much because guys were so busy. Yeah. But right in front of my desk was and was where the interns would sit,
Starting point is 01:54:16 right? Shane Black would come in and kick the end, not kick the intern out. I shouldn't say that. They would just move the hell out of the way because it was Shane Black. And he used to sit down there and write. And I used to be working, watching him right. It was pretty awesome. Wow.
Starting point is 01:54:28 He would come into that office to write. Yeah, he would just sit down and write. And he would just sit there and stay for a little bit, wouldn't say anything to then just leave. Maybe he felt the creative juices flowing in that office. Whatever was. He would sit down and he would just write. Makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:40 And he was working on different things. It was pretty cool. Poot. Shoot. Ryan. Thoughts on the Resident Evil remake being written and directed by Crager. I don't know enough about it. What do you say, John?
Starting point is 01:54:50 I think it's an interesting decision. It certainly elevates the material from where it was before. Zach Greger is a fantastic new director on the horizon and horror side of thing. So I think this makes Resident Evil now something to really, really look forward to, no offense to what's it, Paul W.S. Anderson and Jovovovich. But now you got Zach Krieger on board. It's going to really bring out, I think, the greatness of the video game on to the screen here in ways that maybe people hadn't thought about the artistry of it, I think,
Starting point is 01:55:18 is going to elevate for sure. Joe, for show. Hey, Christian, I'm headed to New York this weekend and go to the Lakers next game. That's cool. Any recommendations on good food spots I should check out. Here's what I'll tell you you should do, because I've been doing this recently, and this has been a lifesaver. Go to Instagram and put New York food spots and go to Reels.
Starting point is 01:55:36 And you look at all these. I mean, I found a place that my wife and I found at this jazz place that we're going to go do, but they do, and it's an Italian place, actually, not too far with the Sinatra nights, and they have a guy come out full on Sinatra, books out months in advance, we booked it. So I would do that because you can find tons of recommendations of what you're looking. I don't know what you're looking for, whether it's French, Italian, all those different things. Go and look at that. You'll get some great recommendations.
Starting point is 01:56:02 I've been doing, I found a bunch of stuff in Long Island stuff that people recommended. I found tons of things through Instagram. So it's pretty great. Bobby Jackson. What up, Bobby? So Bobby? At one point, Faggy tapped James Gunn who handled the MCU Cosmic Science so I can see him tapping
Starting point is 01:56:17 the Rousseau for the mutant side of the MCU. Yeah, and, you know, let them push off and do some, and not have to do everything on his own. That's what a good leader does. It finds the right people who can do it that you can trust and do your thing. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:33 Yeah. Yeah. All right. Next one, I think we only, it was 70 so far. Pretty damn good. Do I, champ. Watch Concord. last night, but I had to pause it 150 times.
Starting point is 01:56:43 The minute I turned it on, the wife started yapping, moving around, cleaning show. What's a nice way to say shut down? If you want to stay, if you want to stay married? Yeah, that's going to say that. None of that. What you say is, what I do is I go, come on. Yeah. You're pointing to go, come on.
Starting point is 01:57:02 And that still won't work. No, because here's the greatest thing about being with someone. And it's the fucking truth. Like, you, you both take turns doing the exact same thing that you're mad at the other person doing. because Lily hates when I walk in and she's in the middle of something on on RuPaul's drag race and I ask her a question or I talk or I make noise in the kitchen. Drives her insane.
Starting point is 01:57:21 She has no problem doing that while I'm watching a game or watching one of my shows. So here's the deal. I'm sure you're doing the exact same thing, do you I champ to your wife when she's watching something she wants to watch. So just take a little bit of, have a little of perspective and see if maybe you're doing the same thing. If not, the nice way to say shut the F of is I want a divorce.
Starting point is 01:57:39 That's really cool. For real. Yeah. Paige Chowdhry Monday with the best you by speaking to which way you just said thank you page you know what um there was somebody there I saw this clip and I don't know if you've seen it on speaking of Instagram this guy walks in this Carlson influence wherever she's filming on the elevator in sky must be Vegas I don't know and she and she sees this guy he's like Harry must have been like late 50s maybe mid 60s I don't know and he walks in and he's like yeah who are you somebody I should know and she's like who are you he's like me he's like me he's must have been like me he's must have been like me me I'm a guy I just divorced my wife after 15 years that's where the fuck I am who are you he said just decided to divorce my wife Boston lady I'm way more excited for Superman than I am for Fantastic Four same this is I think it'll move because I think Superman is going to crush it and so I think why would you want that for a Fantastic Four you got to move it you got to move it
Starting point is 01:58:40 yeah um p parker 2288 christian your mother-in-law impressions is one of my favorite how is she um she's doing okay you know she's getting up there a little bit too we're gonna make sure that we got a we're gonna try by by visit but she's she's doing okay we talked to the other day are you going to be watching the oscars maybe uh louise maybe little ball boss see i told i know my people i know my people man don't ever talk to me about my people but i respect for fellow Latino yeah yeah I know my people Luis also loves J-Lo as much as you do oh no Louise please no
Starting point is 01:59:16 when Rosalind Sanchez is out there how can you pause and Sanchez there's a name I haven't heard in a long time great actress great she's great sorry peeps not gonna be able to watch live that's all right we'll catch with a rewatch going out on my birthday awesome who are your favorite total rumble pass winners
Starting point is 01:59:35 um savage never won one I would love to see Randy win one would have been great I did love and flare one that um from the from being number two all the way to the end i mean number one and number two are exactly the same um so that was uh that was pretty great so i i'd say did the rock ever win one uh i think so yeah stone goal won like three i love like two or three yeah i think he was i think i think he's tied with uh different one back to back yeah and it's only what there's like three people that won or four people that went back to back yeah i think so yeah i mean i dude i had
Starting point is 02:00:10 a whole model on compared for winning the free for all then you're flares but i never i never won that was not an easy thing to do when that free free free pro was very very hard to do um did is that next is that this weekend free for it's added i mean free for all yeah it will yeah saturday is the paper view this week got it got it uh okay motor rolling coming back in here 71 bliss alister Nikki Bella Joe Hendry Elja Ayla Ila
Starting point is 02:00:42 Oba Femi Becky Lynch Cardona Ziegler are my surprised guesses for the rumble You think Becky Lynch will show up for the rumble? I don't know, maybe she's hinted at coming back And the problem with Becky Lynch coming back for the rumble is that means that she's got a lock back in to come back for a little bit
Starting point is 02:00:59 right? The other people are like, there's other ones. I think Bliss will be back. I think I know you don't want her to come back. I don't think she needs it. And I know there was, there's reports over the weekend there were contract breakdown like there's contract issues like
Starting point is 02:01:10 they're not bringing like she doesn't like the numbers that are offering her reportedly and i i think she doesn't need it man move on go be an actress go do other go be a host like you're a beautiful young blonde woman in in in the world i don't understand how you why you want to come back and subject your body to this kind of treatment you don't need to it's the love right yeah maybe she loves it i don't know i don't know so nick Nikki for sure because she's on the current season of traders. Oh, so she's trying to get some, uh, yeah, I see. And she was that and she was also in the in the crowd for, um, the first raw interviewing.
Starting point is 02:01:47 Right, right. It makes sense. Um, all right. So last last one for now, John. Look, like I said, they keep, they keep you on. People, if you want to keep the show going, they keep you on sometimes, but who knows? Who'd shoot Ryan? Roe, do you have a voice changer?
Starting point is 02:02:01 Do I? I don't know. You must check. I think that I do You do You get that robot Oh you know Go all the way up to the first
Starting point is 02:02:10 Go to the top one Yeah No the top of the top The top right See it? Keep pushing the push all of them Because you got something else You mean this one?
Starting point is 02:02:20 No I'm talking about that No I don't do Dilling chipmunks I don't do That guy NLF NLS FC
Starting point is 02:02:33 Hey Christian I saw you squid game reaction I love that You're ready for crazy right Oh, yeah. Yeah. Let me rub these balls on your face. Oh, come on.
Starting point is 02:02:41 Oh, dueling. You want to do it? I'll do it with you. Look at Isaac Gonzalez. Wait a minute. I know who. It's amazing. I don't get a one that, too.
Starting point is 02:02:52 Oh! We got to make one for you, outlaw. And one with a hat. Come on. Come on. And I can let it be part of the show. I got to promise that. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 02:03:01 You're getting all sinister and shit with your voice. I don't, uh, I don't wonder that she. A woman, hello. Oh, you're getting a little controversial with your little ass. You can do that when you got the voice. That's the whole point. Oh, I'm dead. Yeah, it's a little, it's a little addicting.
Starting point is 02:03:19 All right. I'll stop. All right, let's see. That is, hey, Christian, saw your squid game reaction. Love that. Get ready for a crazy ride. Yeah. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
Starting point is 02:03:29 I'm going to, like I said, I'm going to do, I think that I'll probably, as I think about it, I probably do season one. and if they eat shit, they eat shit. But I'm going to do it. Another strategy could be that you shoot all of them. Just you, right? And the big episodes, you just released the big episode reactions. If I get them, if I have them done, I'm going to want them doing it.
Starting point is 02:03:49 I'm just going to put it. Because what I'm going to do for Sam is that we're going to do, like here's an example. There's some shows, like one, an episode of like Wanda vision or an episode. I'm not doing the way that I would do it week to week normally. Like, like, Daredevil, a new season. I'll be doing that week. Oh, totally. Boy, I guess not week to weeks.
Starting point is 02:04:05 Oh, yeah, week to week. Because it's Disney Plus. I'll be doing that. But for, I think what we're going to do for, like, Loki, we're just going to do it as it's like one big movie. So it'll be like a three-hour video. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 02:04:18 So next one here is Artem. Yeah, the people, they don't want you to go yet, John. They don't want you to go. Better rivalry. Roka versus haters or Mike versus the Internet? Oh, I think Mike versus the internet. I mean, you might, but he gets kicked off. of Twitter all the time that's what I mean yeah I don't lose I don't lose Mike
Starting point is 02:04:38 occasionally loses so it's fun yeah uh Luis coming back in hey nah JLo fell off after Selena wow wow we can find same page oh let's do roca yeah Joe for show last one for now hmm which one ready player two or Alita battle angel two what will come out you got a better shot of ready player two coming out because it I don't think um yeah I don't think they would do it I like both of those movies yeah i did too i think right i like ready player more than elita but i could totally see the sequel i mean there was rumors about elita battle angel too for a long time but they haven't been able to kind of line that up i think you'd probably see more of a reboot than a sequel for elita okay um
Starting point is 02:05:20 and ready player two does have i think it does have a novel sequel so you've got at least source material if you wanted to do one yeah this is the last one all right fun for now Hey. Karen, Boulder, Melhalden for Holocaust Remembrance Day, and I loved brutalists. Thank you, Karen. Thank you. Yeah, I got it. I'm definitely going to check it out. I'm definitely going to check it on. Yeah, we will do some discussion between the episodes for sure. Someone said for the Wanda Vision and Loki, I did a couple of discussions afterwards. Yeah, I think it'll be like a quick little thing. Like, hey, your thoughts on that as we go into episode two and then do it. Oh, just kidding. Oh, that's great. Haskell 420 big balls for big Cajonis yeah it's got to be big Cajonies yeah
Starting point is 02:06:03 all right so now now Joe will probably make a big Cajonies one he's got to have that big outlaw hat on oh Grand Conde balls I think big colonies is better yeah okay yeah big Cajonis is even better all right so big balls versus grand colonies that'll be a good one all right oh someone says Vuevos gigantes is a good one too it's fun it's fun told you It's fun. All right. John, where are we going here?
Starting point is 02:06:34 What are we doing? What are we doing? Where can they find you? You can always find me at the Roka says on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and blue sky. Starting point is 02:07:21 Thank you, Roca. 78 we hit here today with John. So pretty damn good. As we start tomorrow, Roxy, we'll be on the show. So that's going to be great. And Apple Podcasts, Spotify, anywhere podcasts are found. If you're enjoying the Marvel Cinematic Universe rewatches for me, first time watching for Sam, then we have been posting them on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Starting point is 02:07:47 Saturday, you got a special one of Dr. Strange because we shot enough of them. We might do the same thing this week. Sam is coming in today. We are going to be releasing Guardians 2 tomorrow. We've already shot that one. We're shooting Spider-Man today, so that will be out on Friday. We're potentially shooting Thor tomorrow, and if that's the case, that'll come out on Saturday,
