Starting point is 00:00:00 Thanks for joining into the SCN show on the Shmodown Entertainment Network, produced in partnership with Skybound Entertainment. Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen. What's up, every Friday, y'all? Happy Friday. We made it to another week. Hopefully it's your payday. Hopefully it's your day. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:00:36 It's never is. Have fun with us. We have a great show plan for y'all. And we have the audience of our family today. We are nothing. Energy today, baby. I'm supposed to brought up point like, fucking music down.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Mom, get off the phone. I'm chatting on AIM. Gosh. Mom. Yeah, this special kids episode is perfect already because this is taking me back to when I was 14. And I'm just like, I'm listening to Pierce the veil. It was never a phase, dad.
Starting point is 00:01:25 It's a lifestyle. Yo, this show is a lifestyle, all right? You guys better buckle up because we are in for it. We also have the one of the one only stashed master, Ben Goddard. I did not expect the reaction this thing is going to. This is getting a bigger reaction than when I dyed my hair silver and purple. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:01:45 When you drop, dyed your hair silver, like, you statements were made. Yeah. You're like, I am now an X-Men. I don't know how you ladies do it. Like, I have much less hair than you guys do. And you guys do the dying. Like, because I took, like, I bought the special conditioner. I did everything.
Starting point is 00:02:03 and it's still like washed out like so fast. So like I don't know how you guys handle that shit like over. And and it was like $150 for like this tiny head of hair, not, you know, your gorgeous long locks. Wow. Thank you so much. Well, your hair is absolutely stunning. It's honestly. Oh, that was it Alex.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Oh, oh, my. So I sometimes do that. I steal people slender and I would never want to do that to Alex because we have Alex on Alex on Alex. And a lot of girls' fantasies are coming true right now. Thank you, Alex. I'm sorry for who's ever a fantasy that is. Whomsoever. But hey, you know, I'm here?
Starting point is 00:02:43 It's Haley Steinfeld's fantasy. Aren't you happy? Bailey Steinfeld, let's go. Hit me up. Baitland Deaver. I don't know. Yeah, just start listing all of the girls you want, Alex. All my girls.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Yeah, throw it out. That's just any episode of S-E-N, though. Well, Kat Dannings got engaged. Like, how dare she make me fall in love with her in 2020? 10 and then disappear on a terrible show that I never watched and then come back to my life with Wanda Vision and then immediately get engaged. How dare she? Ben, I couldn't agree. Didn't Aubrey Plaza get engaged too this week? That's what I'm just about. Yeah. Like that's all. Aubrey Plaza can get it any day of the week. Kat Dennings also can and both of them are like didn't even give me
Starting point is 00:03:27 the chance to shoot my shots. Same with John Malaney. Bro, John Malaney. Two seconds. Two seconds. John Mullady made Chris Pratt look like he took his time after his long time. They're like, like John Mullaney was about the smoke. And when I say smoke and Olivia. I'm risking it all for you, Olivia. Let's do this.
Starting point is 00:03:50 I just released my divorce statement. Let's go. Anyways, the Wizard of Oz also joins us once again. He makes this all happen behind the scenes. Malcolm, what's up? Yo, yo, yo. We're off to a wonderful start. Yeah, we are, Malcolm. I told you this is going to be a crazy fucking ride. I told you guys to buckle up.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Because today we have a really fun topic. This, if you're ever watching a TV or movie show and you're like, oh my God, I love this actor, this actress. They are so underrated. This is your time to get those, let us know who they are. This is a Shmobot only show, but we really want to hear who are the most underrated actors and actresses. We're going to go around and share some of ours, but really it's about y'all. We want to know from you. So send in those Shmobot all day long. We will be ending at 1130 today for a really exciting reason where they're going to be doing a horror expo, right? Alex, at 1130 at the Skybound Expo that's going on all day today. At 1135. Yep, that'll be airing at the Skybound YouTube channel. So make sure you check that out after the show and we'll remember to remind you later on. Hell yes. Well, we can go ahead and get started. There are so many, since there are so many streaming shows and movies, that come out constantly all the time. I feel like I'm always being introduced to new actors and actresses where I'm like, damn, if they don't get cast, I don't even know what acting is anymore.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Like I know what acting is, just by the way, I know nothing about acting. I'm just a small girl living in the vagina's whale. But I, um, I'm in San Diego. Move with me, Ben. Yeah, but what's the vagina's whale? The whale's vagina. I know.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Sorry. But, that steps on a whole number. level. I mean, come on it's a Friday. I drove to San Diego at 12 a.m. I got here at two. It's been a moment, you guys, so I'm tired, but it's fine because I'm really happy to be here. But anyways, so let's start. Sabrina, do you have anyone on the top of your mind that is the most underrated to you? I honestly think that Andrew Garfield, I know this comes as to a surprise to nobody. I don't. Christ. End the show. Malcolm. We're done. I can call it. Play the music. We're done.
Starting point is 00:06:02 No, that's my number one forever and always. I feel like anytime he's in anything, he absolutely kills it. It's a shock that he hasn't gotten to Oscar. Like, at this point, he should have got the Oscar for the social network. That was something that, like, right away, for him to come out, like, hot like that in his career. And then now he, he kind of goes with, like, really interesting roles. Like, I did just see mainstream. I'm one of the, like, two people in the entire country who saw mainstream.
Starting point is 00:06:27 And he was incredible. Like, say whatever about the movie. but he just bodied exactly what you wanted. So I just feel like he always knows the assignment. He shows up and he shows out. And that's why, like, anything that he's in, I will 100% check out. Is social network your favorite thing he's in?
Starting point is 00:06:47 Oh, probably under the Silver Lake or never let me go. So social network third. Yeah, social network's in there. I mean, like, he's the best part about that movie, but there's so many great parts about it that just like come out swinging. So it's just kind of hard. But yeah, never let me go.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I think he's the standout. Him, Carrie Mulligan, Kira Knightley, all gave incredible performances. But I think his has like the emotional core of the film. Got too. Got to. I mean, I do love Andrew Garfield. And, but I feel like he's one of those
Starting point is 00:07:22 that's highly respected amongst critics and the academy, but not as many people are right or die, Andrew Garfield. people like you are Sabrina. You got to come on cocktails and casting, Steph. Trust me, you'll learn very quickly that every single person Sabrina's ever casted has done like one really good 824 film
Starting point is 00:07:44 and they belong in every blockbuster ever made. Yes, exactly. That's how casting goes nowadays, though. Yeah, I can't wait to hear one of those. So you just find a way, do you find a way to insert Andrew Garfield in every episode you do? in every conversation under the Silver Lake, Andrew Garfield comes up. Doesn't even matter what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:08:04 We'll be talking about Citizen Kane. And I'll be like, under the Silver Lake is the Citizen Kane of like Neo-Noir. And somehow it comes up. Oh, incredible. Okay. Would you rather see him voice Garfield the cat or play President Garfield in a movie in a biopic? I say, why not both? Why not Garfield, the president?
Starting point is 00:08:27 I feel the president. I'm not crazy. Oh my gosh. The way you're matching your photo right now, I wish the whole audience to see the whole thing. Alex, you're the most discreet extra person, like chill extra person I've ever met in my life.
Starting point is 00:08:44 And it's such a good balance. Just trying to stay modest, you know, do what I can. I have a little time I have on the show. I fucking hate you. It's like I can't. Yeah, he's the best.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Ben, who comes to mind for you? The first one that came to mind for me was Jiamen Hunsu. Like, he's been acting for almost probably 30 years now. Ben, for 2021 donated $20. What up Friday crew. The most underrated actor, in my opinion, is Timothy Oliphant. From the killer in Scream 2 to the joyful producer in the girl next door to Ryan Givens and justified my dude kills in everything.
Starting point is 00:09:27 He's my fancast for Mr. Fantastic. Ooh. You said Justified. That's my trigger word. It's my favorite show. So I'd love me some Oliphant. Wait, what's your favorite show? Justified? It was on FX.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Justify. Isn't that some sort of rock song or band? It's the Justin Timberlake album. It is the Justin Timberlake album. Wait, I thought that was the... Oh, and then Justin Bieber did Justice. emotional white men. So who, Ben, who were you going to say?
Starting point is 00:10:05 And thank you for that Schmobot. Happy Friday to you, fam. Schmobot's only today, guys, get in your underrated actors right now. But Jiam and Huntsu, like, he's literally in every large property now, but he brings so much to every movie. Like he never takes a day off, even if it's a straight-to-d-d-d-d-movie or, you know, a corny Y-A movie. never back down. That's about teenage drama and MMA fighting. It's a bad movie guys,
Starting point is 00:10:34 but Jiam and Huntsu makes you believe. He makes you believe in this cause. And when Amber Hurd and Cam Gigandette are like fighting over each other, like it works because of Jiamen Huntsu. Jiamen Huntsu levels out all the white teen angst in that movie. He's so good. And just everything he brings to all these movies. Like, I'm so happy he's in quiet place too. Like, I feel like he's not even featured because, like, he, the man just works. He just works. He stays booked and busy. And he's probably, like, living the best life of, like, having all the fortune and success.
Starting point is 00:11:10 But, like, probably isn't really followed by paparazzi or anything like that. He's just the best of both worlds, honestly. So, Diamond Huntsu for president. Trax stars donated $50. Something to kick off the Gen Z, millennial takeover. Happy to see Sabrina and Stefan. the same panel. I wish we get a women's panel again. That was peak 2021 send for me. Have a great show all. P.S. Crushin on Alex on Alex on Alex today. I told you Alex. Appreciate that really generous donation. That was awesome and we are definitely going to get a
Starting point is 00:11:47 women's panel again. Scheduling is a bit difficult but Christian is working on it and you know I say this every time and I text her when this happens when Sabrina and I get on get on a show together. It makes everything worth it. Okay. So we do always want it to happen. So thank you for that. My most underrated actress, she is my favorite TV actress ever, because one of my favorite TV shows and what she did in this show was in Sandy. I'm talking about Tatiana and Mathlani. An orphan black, she plays multiple clones. And she completely changes characters, personalities, facial expressions, movements, like the weight, her voice. It was such an incredible masterclass in acting.
Starting point is 00:12:33 And every single time you really got connected to each clone and you forget that it's the same actress playing that character. Then also she's in a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal called Stronger. And she's going to be She Hulk. So she's only up and coming. She's a Canadian actress. But if you watch any of her work, you can't leave it and be like, oh, my God. He's fucking amazing.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Are any of you familiar with her? I heard she was good in Perry Mason also. Oh, yeah, I've heard of it. I haven't seen that. Yes, I love Stronger. That was such a freaking good movie, and she has so, she's such a good role too. Yeah, what was that movie she did?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Karen Kusama. The Karen Kusama film she did. Destroy? Yes, yes, she was amazing in that. Yes. Yes. Yeah, yeah. I don't recognize her, but I've seen Destroyer.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Destroyer is very, very good, but I don't recognize her. We've talked, Ben, we've talked about her before. I know you brought her up for sure. Yeah. Once she said Orphan Black and Karen Kusama, I know Sabrina's definitely casted her before. I'm like Karen, any Karen Kusama film masterpiece. Did you watch Orphan Black? I didn't.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Oh, my, and I almost lost my question. I just seen like little clips. No one's seen it. And I'm telling you, I see y'all in the chat saying clone club, clone club, fuck yes, y'all. understand this show was so good. It was one of those shows, like, at a time when shows didn't end, it was, like, kind of that middle ground of when streaming started. And before that, you know, all the network shows were, like, 18 seasons and, like, the story wasn't important anymore. This one chose to end in five seasons, and it was the most perfect ending to the show. I love when
Starting point is 00:14:15 creators, just no one to stop like that. What, Ben? She plays Nadia in Parks and Rec. She dates Aziz Ansari for like two episodes. I know I recognize her something and it's not like you know her amazing acting. It's like when she was a two episode reoccurring part on Parks and Rec. But yeah, that's where my mind goes.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Oh my gosh. You actually just fist pumped in the air. Well, because I was like I was because IMDB never has the right picture. I don't know who is managing these actors IMDB so much so that Bonnie Hunt's IMDB picture is her character from fucking call.
Starting point is 00:14:51 It's her character for cars. So I don't know who's managing this, but I was just like, who is she? And then, like, I scrolled through a little bit and now I recognize her. Oh, my gosh. Well, I'm glad you did. And I think most of us will probably be watching Shee Hulk for coverage anyways, which I can't reach here in. Alex, what is?
Starting point is 00:15:12 She Hulk. Jesus. Join us whenever that. Yes. Before Alex goes, by the way, everyone send in your super chats or schmobots to tell us your most underrated actors and actresses or whatever else you want to talk about
Starting point is 00:15:28 but that is our topic today and we definitely want to hear it because I love being introduced and I'm sure the panel loves being introduced to new actors or actresses that we haven't heard of. Alex, what do you got? I got a few. Are we just doing one one and then making a round or do you or do you want all three of them right now? I want one right now.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Save your independent movie flexing for one at a time. Oh. Are you ready for this flex? Kelvin Harrison Jr. He was ever since I saw loose and waves. I was freaking hooked on this guy. He's freaking amazing in those. Both those movies were dark and crazy as hell,
Starting point is 00:16:05 but I loved every single minute of those. And he was a main reason why. He was also in Monsters and Men. Also in a Netflix movie, they just came out last week, Monster, which is fine, but you know, you can rely on him to be really good in it. Um, Charles Chicago 7. He played Fred Hampton in it. Uh, and I, apparently he's playing
Starting point is 00:16:26 B.B. King and Elvis. So I'm looking forward to seeing what he does next. Uh, he's just, he's pretty badass. He's young and up and coming. And, uh, that's what I have to say on Kelvin Harrison, Jr. Go check out Loose and Waves. Yes. Kelvin Harrison Jr. Hell yeah. Okay. He is so, he is so damn good. I didn't really like waves. Like, it just wasn't for me, but he was incredible in that.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Also in the high note with Dakota Johnson and Tracy Ellis Ross, so good. He's got a little bit of everything. Is that good? It was good, and I think it's on HBO Max, but he's done a little bit of everything. He's done, like, the really, like, charming, whatever. But then also that whole, like, the sinister and, like, menace he brought to Luce is unreal. Is unreal. Luce is one of those movies where it's like it's a play adaptation but you don't feel like it's a play all the time.
Starting point is 00:17:26 I think it's just a masterful adaptation. I think the playwright even adapted it himself. But yeah, all the, I think it's Tim Roth, Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer are also in it. So good. Check it out. L-U-C-E. I was like obviously we all wish Brett was here all the time but like I was waiting for Brett to do his classic Brett and be like, Anthony Hopkins is underrated. He's a good one.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Charlese, they're wrong. Malcolm, do you have one? I think actors are all overrated. Whoa. You're just memorizing something that someone else wrote. I mean, whatever. Oh, I mean, yeah, it takes no talent at all to convey emotion on screen. Tony Collas can do that.
Starting point is 00:18:15 The angsty teen energy that is happening on this show right now. Wow. Love that. Oh, my God. I don't know. All the actors that I can think of are just like comedians. I really like Jason Manzukas. I stand Jason Manzukas.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I get really happy every time I see or hear him and anything. It's really good and invincible. Hell yeah. Do you listen to How Did This Get Made, Malcolm? Yeah, it's like my favorite. podcast. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Great podcast. Great podcast. Sabrina, we're back to you.
Starting point is 00:18:51 John Roker Simp-Shildenated $20. John Roker is the most underrated actor in the universe. If the Golden Globes wasn't rigged, he would have won every award every year. It's true. Love that. I love support for John Roka. He's the best. He couldn't make it today, and we
Starting point is 00:19:09 miss him. But thank you for that Shmobot. Please continue to keep sending you those Shmobots. As Christian mentioned yesterday, it's the way that we can all stay employed here. So we appreciate anything that you can give. But most of all, we appreciate your opinions because this is a community and we love to hear what y'all are watching.
Starting point is 00:19:27 A lot of y'all constantly put us on different TV shows and movies. So please let us know today we're talking about those underrated actors and actresses. So send in those schmobots we want to hear them. Sabrina, who's the next on your list? To not go with somebody who's like super young. I first saw this actor in Shameless. and I didn't really watch the entire series, but I didn't know anything about him until later on
Starting point is 00:19:51 because I was there kind of like in the beginning of the show. But then I ended up obviously like diving into film, watching things like Fargo, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, other stuff like that. William H. Macy, I feel like he's one of those actors who is so damn good in every single thing that he's in, but he's not talked about as like one of the greats.
Starting point is 00:20:10 But he honestly, he disappears into so many different roles. And I mean, he's already, he's in his 70s, and he's still been going for so long. And he also went to Goddard College. So the college of Ben Goddard. But, yeah, I would highly recommend checking out, like, Magnolia and Boogie Nights and stuff like Fargo, if you guys haven't already. Just super astonishing performances in all of those.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Absolutely. It'll be fun, Alex, is if we did the one news story that we wanted to talk about, about the casting, and then we put all our underrated acts. into that movie. Sure. Yo. I like that idea. I like that.
Starting point is 00:20:53 I like it a lot. Here we go back to Coke Me. There's like a cocktail and casting like spin-off right here. Yeah. Let's do it. So hit us with that news article, Alex. Yeah. So let me tell you guys about the freaking insane cast for Knives Out 2.
Starting point is 00:21:12 We got Dave Batista. We got Edward Nourne. We got Janelle Manet. And we got Catherine Hahn. Ooh, I didn't know what you know, Manet. Yeah, so that all came within the past few days. It's going to drop on Netflix. Of course, Ryan Johnson will be writing, directing it.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And what do you guys think of this? Do you think any of those people would fit into our underrated actors and actresses lists? Dave Batista and Blade Runner in 2049 almost steals the movie in the opening scene. Like, he's so good. And then obviously, Captain... His tiny glasses. The tiniest glasses on the movie. biggest man.
Starting point is 00:21:47 But then, you know, obviously, Catherine Hahn is everyone's favorite from Wanda Vision, but she's been killing it and being hilarious for the last, like, you know, 10, 15 years. Yeah. It wasn't for... She's underrated. I feel like a lot of people didn't really know Catherine
Starting point is 00:22:01 Hahn's name when she was in Wanda Vision. They knew of her because she's been in everything. But she's one of those silent assassins where you either see her in side roles or not starring roles and you're like, oh, she was really good. but you don't really become attached to her. Or you miss movies like bad moms where she's fucking hilarious. And you're just like, who is this woman?
Starting point is 00:22:24 So I think she's starting to get the credit that she's due. Yeah, it was weird. Like last year I watched, I know this much is true, the Mark Ruffalo series where he plays the Twins. And she pop and she's there playing his wife, one of the twins's wives. And it's super dark. And then you see her in Mrs. Fletcher.
Starting point is 00:22:44 and she's freaking hilarious in that. And then, yeah, if it wasn't for Wanda Vision, she'd make my underrated actresses list. And she's in Parks and Rec. Oh, shit. Step brothers, of course. That's right, first. I feel like this always happens with actresses
Starting point is 00:23:04 that take a lot of comedic roles throughout their career. We love them and what they do, but we don't give them the credit when they take other ones. Like Regina Hall is another example. That's an $1820. Mine are the two actresses that. from normal people Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:19 These two how they make the audience feel about their deep love and pain. Chef's Kiss. Also, Numer Rapas, she is super underrated. Ooh, Numi Rapace is great. Thank you, yeah. I'll tell you this, like, Sabrina rarely wins cocktails in casting, but she's gonna rub all these schmobots in my face
Starting point is 00:23:37 because all these, Paul Miscall, yeah, Numi Rapace, all these people that are all the people she casts in movies. all the time. And every single time, that's the thing about when we do cocktails and casting. We have a poll. And people will see, like, Adam Driver and then, like, Mike Verbiglia, of course they're going to pick Adam Driver.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Yes, because Adam Driver's best. The only category I think I won was Donald Glover playing, what's his name? God, Big Daddy in Kickass, the musical. Come on. That's so much of it. It's a good one. Shout out to you track stars, your chef's kid.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Thanks for that. And thanks everyone continuing to send in your schmobots. Let us know your favorite, your most underrated actors and actresses, wherever, whatever else you want to talk about on this Friday. We appreciate any way you can support. But this is a schmobot only show. So if you want to get your opinion heard or a comment question concerned, send in your schmobots. All right, where were we, Alex? I am excited and curious because I know Edward Orne's been, like, kind of rumored to be very difficult. And it's, kind of almost like difficulted himself out of Hollywood so much so that like you know like he was kind of playing himself in Birdman maybe like not that intense but who knows so I'm excited like that Ryan Johnson would take on someone like that and just be like I'm writing I'm directing you're going to say the words I give you and do what I tell you like that's a that's a boss bitch move right there from Ryan Johnson and I'm excited to see because Edward Dorn's obviously a great actor but like just his offset stuff.
Starting point is 00:25:14 is the, like, behind the scene stuff is what kind of got him out. And, you know, got him out of the MCU, for God's sake. Got him out of the easiest fucking 10 years of his life and collecting paycheck. Wait, what? I missed this. Oh, yeah, like, he's rumored to, like, always try and take over, takeover sets, like, rewrite scripts and stuff like that and, like, yell directors, like, yeah. You can't do that to Ryan Johnson. But I feel like the magic that came from the first Knives out was how great the chemistry of the cast was,
Starting point is 00:25:42 not even just performance-wise, but we see so many behind-the-scenes photos where people are sitting in and watching scenes that they're not even a part of rather than just like sitting in their trailer or doing something else. It felt like it was a super like engaging interactive experience for all of them and that they were kind of like a family after this. So that's like, I think, I love David Duchovny. The X-Files was one of my favorite shows growing up. Adam Driver is peak. I also love James Franco. Not just his funny stuff. I'm so with you. However, now I'm with Seth Rogan where I am no longer working with James Franco. It took Seth a long enough to say that, you know. Yeah, that's breaking news. I'd be
Starting point is 00:26:33 surprised the variety, you know, Hollywood reporter doesn't pick up on that. I know. On your, yeah. You heard of here. You heard of your first. Thanks for that Shmobot fam, Sabrina, what were you're saying? Oh, for this new one. For stuff like Edward, I'm like, I don't know what I was saying. For Edward Norton and all of those people, I hope that they can kind of recreate something similar. Obviously, bringing in basically an entire new huge ensemble, it's always a challenge. So I'm just excited to see where they go from this and all the other people because we were, last night on first cut, we were supposed to do a Knives Out to pitch, like pitching the entire premise and picking the cast. And, like, I had something prepped, and I didn't include anybody that they already had, but honestly, like, this ensemble could be pretty huge.
Starting point is 00:27:20 But people like Coleman Domingo is another underrated actor where he's in everything. And he's always just so damn good, whether it's like something like Euphoria or Ma Rainies or whatever. And also, even like Octavia Spencer, because we mentioned her earlier, Ma is a cinematic masterpiece. Yo. Hasn't she won an Oscar? Yeah. For the hell. She's not rated.
Starting point is 00:27:45 She's very properly, highly rated. But, no. Critics, I feel like critics, it's different versus, like, a household name. It was something that we talked about. We called my sister live on cocktails and casting because she's, like, a very average, like, movie-going person. Jess is a saint. We love her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:03 And I called her live on air, and I was just like, do you know who Pedro Pascal is? And she didn't, unfortunately. But, like, people like us, we all do. She was like, yeah, that the Hispanic. guy from Rogue One. I was like, Home Star Wars movie? No, not self-racism.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Jess. Oh, my God. Well, Sabrina, did you just list another one or were you just adding on to that part? Are we on you? Domingo and Octavia Spencer. I think they're both super underrated.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Coleman Domingo still doesn't get the awards recognition or anything like that. Obviously, Octavia Spencer has, but that was like over 10 years ago or something like that. So I think like household name Octavia dispenser. She nominated for Shape of Water. Yeah, she got nominated. But I'm saying household name, Ma is what put her on the map.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Sabrina's rules by this are so amazing. Welcome to my life, Steph. Every other Monday. Welcome to my shop. A new guy donated $20. It's not always the biggest name who wins cocktails and casting. Don't let Ben forget when Adam Driver lost to Rahul Kohli. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Rahul Koli is another one. Yeah. Fun story. That was a new guy. A new guy. We appreciate you. Thank you. What was it?
Starting point is 00:29:24 I believe the story with Octavia Spencer is that she was a casting assistant. And she was like reading, you know, helping to, helping read sides with other actors. And then they were like, you know, you're freaking good. put you in this movie and that's how she started. I believe that's a story. Don't cancel me if I'm wrong, but I think that's- Was it bad Santa? I, no, I think it was like a, let me see, the long walk home or the something, a time to kill. I think that's what it was. She was in a time to kill? Oh my God, you can watch that movie again. Ben, who's next on your list? Next on my list is Cliff Curtis. This man has been killing it for years, just like, just like small scenes.
Starting point is 00:30:11 character work all like all like he's played like he was like the crazy uh gangster that tries to kill Ethan Hawken Training Day then he was the dad the only good part of the last airbender and he's just like in everything he's like in everything doing all the roles and this just like a guy they hire and he was just the Rock's brother in Hobbs and Shaw and somehow he made it work somehow he stood toe to toe with the rock and said, it's not about the size of the dog in the fight, it's about the size of the fight in the dog. And you believed it.
Starting point is 00:30:47 You believed that Cliff Curtis had that older brother energy that would take Wayne the Rock Johnson's ass. That's the kind of stuff that Cliff Curtis does, and I love Cliff Curtis. And I would put him in that, like, he could replace
Starting point is 00:31:02 um, uh, for 2,021 donated $20. Another rounder rated actor is Joel Kinman. His American movie career hasn't been great with Robo Cop and Suicide Squad, but he was great in the Swedish
Starting point is 00:31:16 film series Easy Money and on the show The Killing. Didn't know he had a Swedish accent till years later. I didn't know that until just now. Was that username Benefer on the run? 2021, because they're back to go. Thank you so much for your Smobaw, and more
Starting point is 00:31:36 importantly, thank you for your username. This is breaking news. Just so curious the panel. What do we feel about Benefer? We talked a little about it yesterday. Sabrina, how are you feeling? I am so freaking elated. Obviously, we have so many jams. Sabrina's an advocate of love. This much has made clear throughout this episode. You just love love. I love. Sometimes it's like, like, wrong time, right person. I feel like they're finding their way back to each other. Her dating history has not been the best. And like, Ben's not a perfect guy. I don't know anything about him. I'm not even going to pretend like I do.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Right. He's not a, you don't know shit. Well, but with like, you know, like openly like struggling and things like that, that's so difficult to be in the limelight, but kind of reconnecting with somebody early on in his career that she loved the hell out of him.
Starting point is 00:32:30 She has so many songs about him. She literally has one that's like straight up like, Ben, I love you, whatever. So I just like that they're finding their way back to each other. I predicted it actually. The second, I did it on FDN live a few weeks ago, the second they announced that her and Arod broke up, I was like, I know they're going to find their way back to each other, and they did. So. Ben.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Wild, dude. What can you say when you have your brother throwing out a cardboard cutout of one of the most gorgeous women on the planet, and then you're like, oh, I got dumped by the hottest up-and-coming actress ever? I guess I'll go. back to my ex, Jennifer fucking Lopez, who runs the goddamn world. Yeah. Like, what a lie. Like, Ben Affleck is living the best life. He's making hit movies.
Starting point is 00:33:18 He's directing them. He's getting nominated. He's winning Oscars. Making millions. He's like the peak of meme culture with every time he gets his dunk, Dunkin' Donuts to go order on his porch. He's smoking cigarettes. And then he's dating just fucking baddies all the time.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Like, this guy doesn't miss. He doesn't miss. Society lets men age well. You know, like he is having this moment in his life because A, he's Ben Affleck and B, because he's a man in Hollywood. He is like he really is living his best life, Ben. Like, that is so true. He had honor to Armist. And I was with Jennifer fucking Lopez. Unbelievable. That's what you get here on S-E-N, the most breakthrough and important news stories. We bring to you every single day because we care about you. But a reminder, this is a Shmobot only episode. So we want to hear your opinions on the most underrated actors and actresses or anything else you want to bring up on this Friday, what you got going on in your
Starting point is 00:34:23 head. Any questions, comments, concerns? This is a family and we want to be talking to you all because you are funny and weird just like us. So we, I believe, Ben just went. So I'll go next. I think someone who's getting more clout and more recognition, but who has been in the game forever is Diego Luna. I just watched Terminal for the first time, and he was in it. And he was like, I was like, oh, my God, a young Diego Luna. I can't believe that. But he has also one of those faces that never ages.
Starting point is 00:34:54 So he's like consistently young. And we saw him in Rogue One and he was amazing. And obviously we're going to get to. What? I thought that was Pedro. Oh, my God. All right, sit down, Jessica. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And then we're going to get him in the Cassine andor series, and we've also seen him in Narcos. I just think he's an incredible actor with a lot of range, and not a lot of, not a household name. So shout out Diego Luna. Are you guys, are you guys into Diego? I like Diego. I haven't seen much of his stuff.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Like, is he in, uh, Momitambien? Is that? Yes. Yes. I haven't, I've seen like 80% of the movie, but, like, I haven't sat down to, like, fully watch it. It was on, like, a movie channel, so it was always on, and I would always catch parts of it, but I need to sit down and fully watch it. But I never watched Narcos, and I know that, like, that's, like, his other big
Starting point is 00:35:47 TV thing that, like, kept him going, and I never watched Narcos. Yeah, he's really good in Narcos. And wasn't Pedro and Narcos, too? Yeah. Yeah. And they were both in, if Bill Street could talk as well. Oh. Barry Jenkins. Speaking of Barry Jenkins, I just started, uh, Underground railroad last night. I was up watching all that. It's freaking great. I mean, it's Barry Jenkins. He brings his aesthetic. It's like, uh, I mean, it is hard to watch because it is about slavery and everything. Uh, and just, uh, but, you know, beautifully shot. The score is amazing. Uh, the casting choices are incredible too. One of, so, uh, if I may,
Starting point is 00:36:25 on my next- On Bobby Johnson donated $20. After watching King of Staten Island, I think Pete Davidson and Bill Burr deserve more love for their acting ability. I love comedians who are able to reach out of their comfort zone. I also love Bill's character in Mando. Derek Underscore Blaney donated $20. Steph took my first pick of Tatiana Marslani so my second pick is Anthony Mackey. People just think of Falcon but he killed it in the banker with Samuel L. Jackson and had other great performances. I mean, eight mile, come on, Papa Doc. Ah. That's what, that's what, like, when he showed up in the MCO was like, they got Papa Doc?
Starting point is 00:37:09 Like, that's how old I am. Oh, but no, Bill Burr's like Tarantino-esque and glorious bastard scene in Mandalorian was like the best moment of the show. Y'all can have Luke Skywalker lightsaber part. That was my Mandalorian moment right there. That was great. I loved Bill Burr. I think that he is a really polarizing comedian in the best way, and somehow he fits in.
Starting point is 00:37:36 If you can fit into the Star Wars universe, all the people who talk shit about his Boston accent, stop. Like, we're in space, it doesn't matter. He's made that point in a really comedic way. I forget, I think it was on the Jimmy Fallon show. But if you watch him in other things, too, he's just really talented actor.
Starting point is 00:37:54 And I know Sabrina was happy about that. Pete Davidson, shout out. She's restraining herself. She's like, we can't see Sabrina's hands, and they're just like gripping her chair right now. It's as Stephanie. I don't know her hands as she's doing the orthor fist. Be David.
Starting point is 00:38:11 No, I really, I agree 100%. But I also like the point that they brought up about, like, comedians in general, because like Bill Hader, Andy Sandberg, we've seen comedians break out of, like, the typical role. Even like Seth Rogen in that Steve Jobs movie, Like so, oh, my God, he's so good in Steve Jobs.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Like the screenplay, like, you have to be a freaking masterful actor to be able to nail that, and he did. And I feel like I just love that point. That was actually my favorite thing. Besides the Pete Davidson comment, that was my favorite part of it. Yeah, there are so many good actors who are comedians that took a long time, like Adam Sandler. You know, we see him in uncut jumps.
Starting point is 00:38:49 It's a completely different role than what we're used to. But even, like, Kristen Wigg, she's a great actress. and everything I've never seen her and stuff that I'm like, no, that wasn't good. Even when she is taking a dramatic role, I think she definitely can do it. Maya Rudolph's the same way. Bill Hater. Barry is one of the best shows ever, period. Barry Season 3 needs to come out yesterday.
Starting point is 00:39:12 I cannot wait. Well, I have a Kristen Wig and Bill Hater. Steph, have you seen the skeleton twins? No. One of my favorite movies ever, and it's them two in dramatic performances, but it's like dark comedy perfectly in their wheelhouse. Oh my God. I want to see it. What's it called Skeleton Twins? Yeah. It's good. I just saw a trailer with Noho Frank in a like obviously the actor, forget his name.
Starting point is 00:39:37 He's going to be in something else. I'm so excited. Anthony Carmichael? It's Fatherhood. What was? Anthony Kerrigan and Fatherhood. Oh, yes. Oh yeah. That's what it was. Yeah. But yeah, to follow up on Alex about Barry Jenkins, everyone go watch Beal Street. Because like, Kiki Lane, Stefan James, Regina King, Coleman Domingo, like these are all on the under, maybe not Regina King because she won an Oscar for it and like, then Watchman and everything. She's amazing and like an amazing director too.
Starting point is 00:40:07 She's in, but just like everybody else like is like either breaking out or is still underrated. And that movie is, I think it's better than Moonlight, honestly, in my opinion, but it's so good. Wow. I liked it better than Moonlight. I liked it better than Moonlight. Like the, the scene with like the super. Christian mom and, like, Regina King goes off on her. One of my favorite scene of the year.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Like, wasn't it a series? No. It was a movie. Underground Railroad is a series. And someone who pops up in it is Will Poulter. And that's another under- region.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Yes. Yes, Will Poulter. And, you know, he is, he's from England. You know, he does travel a lot. And speaking of travel, Malcolm, you want to shut that Shmobot off real quick? Because let me tell you guys something. Are you watching to get back to?

Starting point is 00:43:15 shmobots this is a shmobot only episode where we're talking about the most underrated actors and actresses. It's also Friday. So whatever you want to talk about, we're here to talk about with y'all. But that is the topic of the day. And it's been a really fun topic because there are so many actors and actresses that we forget about that aren't nominated or in Sabrina's rules might be nominated, but are still underrated by society. And we want to hear about them. It is the way that we can continue as a panel and all the great hosts that you see every single day on SEM coming back day after day to be with you guys and join in this community and have great content to share. So keep sending those in. We love y'all. Anything you can
Starting point is 00:43:54 give, but it is a Shmovaal only show today. We have 45 minutes left, too, guys. We're heading out at 1130 today. Exactly. Exactly. So Malcolm, you have another one? Oh, uh, sorry. I'm straight up having an argument with Courtney right now. Oh. I don't, I don't want to derail us too much. But so, okay. Hold on. Hold on. Give me one one second. So you guys know my little, my little moving avatar down in the corner. Yeah. Let me screen share so you guys can see. Give us the T.E. So I, I've got two different faces, right?
Starting point is 00:44:36 There's one for when I'm talking and one for when I'm not talking. Yeah. Courtney is telling me that I have them backwards, that this is supposed to be the silent one. Wow. And the other one's supposed to be the talking one. But I think that's wrong because this looks like the face, like the visor is more open and the eyes are like a bit squintier, right? Right?
Starting point is 00:45:00 Yeah. Am I right? Yeah. Right. I can see. Uh, honestly, I think you're both right. It's whatever. Well, we can't be both.
Starting point is 00:45:10 I will say that there's not like a clear thing. Enraged boy, but donated $25. here to show my support and say that Logan and Jake Paul are fucking colonizers. Jake was riding a car along a beach in Puerto Rico and it's illegal because of protected turtles. And millionaires like Logan raise property values sky high. Yay gentrification. Alice, can you reread that because I think we all lost her minds. Colonizers?
Starting point is 00:45:41 I mean like where's the lie though? I get it. I mean, I just took a laugh. because of the truth. They're colonizing boxing. I mean, I don't think that's too far of a stretch to say. Like, boxing already was getting replaced by UFC,
Starting point is 00:45:55 and now I'm like, what the fuck? Okay. I'm not, I'm, no one's defending the Paul brothers here, but like, they're doing everything right when it comes to boxing. They're not fighting any challenging fights. Like, Logan Paul is in a win-win situation against Floyd. Like, if he loses, he's supposed to lose.
Starting point is 00:46:13 If he wins, it's like the biggest upset in history. No, they're doing all the things right for money. Like they are incredible, yeah, yeah. They're not good. Incredible businessmen, but I've said this before. It's like, I think the only people who really lose are true boxing fans because the sport is getting screwed over because of things like this. Like, I don't care about Floyd.
Starting point is 00:46:36 He's a woman beater. He's a piece of shit in his personal life and makes it known. And he's obviously doing, he's so money hungry that he's willing to do this. knowing the implication to boxing. So I don't really care about his legacy. It's not like Muhammad Ali where you're like, your legacy matters to boxing
Starting point is 00:46:53 and you're also one of the most incredible people who's ever walked this earth. Your decisions with boxing matter. Floyd's don't matter. It's always been about Floyd's never been about the game of boxing. Logan and Jake and Logan Paul have nothing to lose. Like, you're right. Ben, it's all good for them.
Starting point is 00:47:09 They're just making money. Oh, yeah. Like they're good businessmen, but they're like they're not good people. at all. And that's the thing is that like, I, is God testing me about who I'm supposed to root for in this fucking boxing match? Like, yeah. I'm not, well, I can't pay for this. Oh, no, I'm not paying for it. I'll watch the highlights, you know, as soon as they come out on Twitter. I'm, you know, I did that with the last two Jake Paul fights, so I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Huh? Sorry, I thought it was muted. Society is paying for it. What are you the fucking joker? society. I live in a society that sees Jake Paul box Floyd Mayweather. All contrary, my little fish stink. Sorry, Sabrina, what were you saying?
Starting point is 00:47:57 Oh, no, I was saying a line from, I'm not even going to get into that, actually. You think you were immuted also? I just love how you said that under your breath, even if you were muted. Like, the circumstances... It was so evil. Like, it was like, I feel like
Starting point is 00:48:13 Alex is officially behind this Logan and Floyd fight. Nix 2,890 donated $25. K-Yol. About 25 minutes behind, but I'd like to know who you would cast if the fast franchise came out in the 90s. You all rock. Keep it up and have a good weekend. Who sent that in? That was NICs, 2890.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Neeks, appreciate you. Okay, this is a really good question. So who would we cast in the Fast and Furious franchise if we were in the 90s? Drew Barrymore. Neil Long. So everyone from the expendables, but yes, Nealong for sure. Oh, Angela Bassett. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Yeah, Lawrence Fishburn. Let's just do the whole boys in the hood cast. Let's do all of Charlie's Angels get Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lou, Drew Barrymore. Oh, Lucy Lou would for sure be in there. Lucy Lou absolutely would be in there. Lucy Louie Loo absolutely would be in there. Jet Lee or Jackie Chan either or would be in there for sure.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Who's replacing Vince? Chris Rock, because I think he would be so funny. Like, you ready to get this car going? What? Yes. I mean, that was uncanny. That was uncanny. You guys ready to solve this mystery about Sticks-on?
Starting point is 00:49:43 That's Chris Rock. You heard it here. Oh, my God. So sorry, guys. But you got to have, like, a legendary actor. Like, like, a Kurt Russell kind of, you know, also pop in. I think, like, Robert Winford would take over the Kurt Russell part. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:01 I was thinking, like, Charlton Heston. I don't know. Oh, Charlie Snipes. Wesley Snipes. Yes. Wesley Snipes. Yeah, that would be really good. Nice, Willie.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Smith, because, like, damn, would actually, like, still be funny, like, in Fast and Furious. He's like, he's like doing it and I'm like, stop it. Stop doing that. Well, when was... What's an example of a line, Ben? When was the first, um, fast movie released? 2001. Oh, so it's basically the 90s.
Starting point is 00:50:29 Yeah, yeah. All the actors we were cast, like, the entire cast is 90s actors, Vin Diesel. Like, Ryan Philippi would be Paul Walker because, you know, like cruel intentions and stuff. Yeah, yeah. Oh, good question. Okay, where are we in the rotation? Are we back at Sabrina? I think so.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Okay. Yeah. I started saying this earlier, but I'm going to reiterate it. Regina Hall is so goddamn underrated. Something to support the girls like small indies or even like in the 90s in love and basketball playing the sister. She had so many, so much weight to every single performance. And Girls Trip is fantastic. I love the heck out of this frigging movie.
Starting point is 00:51:13 It's so good. But I feel like she's really known, obviously, for like, scary movie and things like that. When we see her, that's kind of the first role that we think of. And even then, it doesn't matter about the quality of the film, she's still incredible in it. People still share that movie theater scene when she gets stabbed because that she's just hilarious. Or the scene within Scary Movie 3 where she's, like, fighting the girl from the ring. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:39 I love Regina Hall. her in Little was also amazing. Did you mention, and I think you just mentioned all the scary movies, but I watch her in interviews, and she's one of the funniest fuckers ever behind the scenes. Like, especially to her, she just looks like she is the life of the party with her castmates. Everyone loves her.
Starting point is 00:52:02 I love the people that you love to watch on screen and you know you could kick it with them afterwards. Like Chris Evans and the Avengers always do a good job in interviews where you're like, damn, I wish I was there hanging out with them. Remember that, who was it? It was Chris Hemsworth and who else was it? But they were just so high during this interview. And they had like a bag of Doritos.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Have you all seen there? No, what? Oh, my God. It is so good. They're lit out of their mind just eating these Doritos, forgetting what the interviewer is asking them. I think it's a Justin Horowitz maybe interview. Oh, it's so good.
Starting point is 00:52:42 Yeah, but good choice, Sabrina. Did you guys ever see that interview of Destiny's Child when they're all really high? Yes. Yeah, that's my favorite thing. Blue whale because, or what does she say? She's like, I'd like to be a whale. And just like the way she's done it. And that was Beyonce.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Yeah. But tell me why you heard that and you're like, yeah, same Beyonce. Yeah. Sounds amazing. Exactly. Exactly, exactly. I just want to be a whale. And then Kelly's like thinking of animals. She's like, I don't know if I were to be an animal.
Starting point is 00:53:19 And then Beyonce comes in a whale. And still to this day, this is like my one problem when people are like, who would you rather kick it with for a day, Rihanna or Beyonce? It's Rihanna all day because Beyonce still to this day won't admit she was high. She's like, we were just really tired that day. We had been on tour. were like, we were sleep deprived. I'm like, girl, you were high. Right. That's exactly what I told my parents. I'm just like, no, I didn't take an edible. I'm just tired. Like, I'm just biving out. Algae. You know this. I've had red eyes my entire light. Come on. Do you have any user text? Yeah, they were late.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Regina Hall. Great choice. Ben, what's your next choice? I'm going to go with someone that, like, I don't know what their big breakout is because I feel like they've like had like a few breakouts in their career. and that's Carl Urban. I first saw Carl Urban as Aeomere in Lord of the Rings and you guys know me. And then I saw he got this show with, what's the guy from Barbershop? Michael Ely, Michael Ely. He got the show with Michael Ely almost human and it was really good, but it got canceled. And then he got Star Trek with Bones and then he did one of my favorite comic book movies, Dread. And now he's in the Boys.
Starting point is 00:54:39 So, like, he's had, like, all these re-k, kind of re-breakout things. And I think, you know, now he's becoming real popular with the boys and everything. But he's just so good in everything he does. He's hilarious. He can be stoic and ruthless, like in Dred. He can be, you know, loving and funny, like, with bones in Star Trek. He just has all the gauges you need in an actor. And I love that, like, he's had, like, four or five renaissance or comebacks in his career.
Starting point is 00:55:06 Because Dred should definitely have gotten a sequel or a series because, he's been campaigning for it forever. And the fact that he did the entire movie with the helmet on and never showed his face is such a commitment to not even be like, oh, you were really good in that movie. I don't know you were in it. Like that probably happened to quite a few times, honestly. And so he's amazing. I love Carl Urban.
Starting point is 00:55:29 He was probably, you know, those actors that are just like so good looking and well, like they're built like bodybuilders. And so they kind of only get booked as the muscle. and then you're like, no, actually they can really act. Do you know what I mean? Oh, Alex, not you? Alex, like, relatable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:48 I haven't been cast in a while because he just want me to be the man bodybuilding in the background. He's trying to go a different direction with his career. Right. You can't see it in the show on YouTube, but he's, I'm holding dumbbells. Remember when Chating Tatum, like, it was for that movie, The Eagle with Jamie Bell,
Starting point is 00:56:05 and he's like, yeah, I'm only shirtless like once, you know, I'm like really trying to do something else. You know, there's only so much you can do. And then like, three years later, Magic Mike and Magic Mike too came out. I was like, dude, like, no one's hating on you. Like, you're making money. Like, this is what people want to see. Like, just do it.
Starting point is 00:56:19 Yeah, I guess just do it. I still really wanted to see him as Gambit. Right. All right. Like, it's way past that time. But if it came out when it was supposed to, I think it would have been sick. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:35 Alex, do you have anyone? Yeah, I got Ashlene Franz D.O.C. She was in the Nightingale, the 2018 one, the super dark Australian one, I believe. New Zealand.
Starting point is 00:56:49 New Zealand? It's Australian. It's Australian? It's Australian. It's Australian, Ben. Australian? Australian. Australian, mate. Ozzie. Like, Carla. Then
Starting point is 00:57:00 she's also in Game of Thrones for a little bit. And Black Narcissus, which is a remake of the Pelham. Press Burger movie from the 40s. She did a Hulu series and she's pretty good in that too. I just, I think she was so freaking good in Nightingale.
Starting point is 00:57:14 That's such a hard, incredibly tough role, tough movie to watch. But she's so good in that. I can't wait to see what she does next. What was her name? Ashleen Franciosi, but you spell it A-I-S-L-I-N-G. It's an Irish name. Nightingale is
Starting point is 00:57:30 up there with like Schindler's list and like 12 years of slave of like really good movies that you only need to watch once because holy shit dude that's a rough movie uh all right reminder we're only here for 30 more minutes send in your schmobots most underrated actors and actresses we want to hear them or whatever else you want to talk about but we're getting some really good names in here so send them in we're only here for 30 more minutes before there is a horror schmow down on uh for the skybound expo at 1135 so make sure you're sending those in we really appreciate it the next
Starting point is 00:58:07 On my list, oh my God, I love this woman so much. And I'm so glad she was able to break out of her. I think Brothers Negative Shadow. I'm talking about Journey Smollett. I think she was completely snubbed this year for not getting nominated for Lovecraft Country. She had some of the greatest performances of the year. There's a few episodes in that show where I was like, oh, my God, this woman is so incredible.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Like, she just gave her the Emmy already. and I don't even think she was nominated. She's also Black Canary, one of the best parts of Birds of Prey. I hope that they do more with that character because I think everyone fell in love with that character. And then speaking of Underground, I haven't seen it, but she is in Underground.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Alex, I don't know if you've seen her yet come up in the show. She was in Underground. Barry Jenkins one is Underground Railroad. Oh. Two separate projects, yeah. Two separate projects, Bill Mervain. But yeah, fuck yes, Journey Smollett. I think she's so incredible.
Starting point is 00:59:06 I can't wait to see all the things she does next. Did any of you all watch Lovecraft? My roommate did. He said he loved it. He said it was really good. But I just, I'm so bad with TV. Like I'm watching Jupiter's Legacy
Starting point is 00:59:19 this weekend. I'm just like, and I'm struggling to get through it just because I'm like, oh man, if I need to carve out another hour to watch the next episode and it's just,
Starting point is 00:59:27 it's tough. Yeah, it's good. A lot of people didn't like the ending, but I feel like what they accomplished in the Cs, and just the writing and the acting itself, it's at least worth the watch. And I was obsessed with that.
Starting point is 00:59:40 I love, I don't like horror, but if you're gonna do sci-fi horror and where it had like, prove social points too, that is like get out is my favorite. That is such a good mixture of using, I think the genre to me in the best way, in my opinion. But Malcolm, do you have anyone next? Are you still beefing with Courtney?
Starting point is 01:00:02 Oh no, we're not. And hey Courtney! Um, what, uh, Ben mentioned the boys, and that reminded me how much I liked Elizabeth's shoe and how happy I was to see her in that after not seeing her in, what, anything forever since what, like, Hamlet 2, which is probably one of my favorite movies. But I, I think she's really great. I'm happy whenever I get to see her. Yeah if the shoe fits Damn it Oh that's a good one I was trying to think of what Alex, was there any big story other stories that we had to get too today
Starting point is 01:00:46 Johnny 5 for life donated $50 Underrated is Dacre Montgomery He was good as Red Ranger but movie was blah He stole season three of Stranger Things as Billy By the way Billy's mom Worst mom ever abandoned her son to be raised by an abusive father abusive father. Dacre is my choice for human torch. Wow, who was that?
Starting point is 01:01:10 Montgomery. It was, yeah, Red Ranger and then Billy. Huh? Blurry. Oh, thanks. Thanks for that Schmobot. Oh, there I know. Oh, no. Where am I? I'm in the sunken place right now. Your camera can handle you too. Well, it sounds like, it sounds like that.
Starting point is 01:01:33 Slobby nipple liquor 69 donated $20. All of you are appreciated. Thank you so much. I appreciate it to. Thank you, Slobby, nipple liquor, 69. Yes, what a fantastic name. But Alex, you're right. I do need help and I do think a lot of people need help.

Starting point is 01:03:38 snook made a terrific first impression in 2015's predestination one of the best time travel movies i've seen since back to the future who sent that in that was michael k Mike okay thank you y'all we're only here for 20 more minutes before the skybound expo kicks off with a horror mtsm match you don't want to miss that with robert kirkman at the desk with mark ellis three incredible competitors will be competing so you don't want to miss that but in the meantime we're only here for a little bit we have a great fucking panel um we are the youngans but we're not the younglings that gets slaughtered by anakin i can assure you that much uh but send those in we're talking Most underrated actors and actresses, we've had a lot of good ones mentioned, but we want to hear more. So send those in before we get out of here. Much appreciated to Schmobot only episode. So if you want to be able to have your picks heard,
Starting point is 01:04:37 it's $20 or up sending those Schmobots, but anything you can donate is highly, highly appreciated. And Sabrina, I think we're back to you, Queen. I'm going to pick two just because it kind of goes together. Obviously, these aren't underrated where they're A list. But definitely in terms of awards, no, leave me alone for a second. I don't stop that face. Case do and R-Pats.
Starting point is 01:05:02 I think their entire careers have been extremely underrated. Of course, when we talk about Twilight, that's something completely different. But then we have films from both of them, like Good Time and Personal Shopper, stuff that's underseen, underrated, amazing, amazing performances. I know we're getting Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana soon, so that's really exciting to see her step into a role like that. But overall, I don't get the whole argument where it's like, oh, do you see them in Twilight? They were so bad.
Starting point is 01:05:28 I'm like, yeah, Twilight's a bad movie, but it's fun as hell. Yeah, first of all, Twilight is a cinematic masterpiece. If you just want to like laugh your ass off forever, it is such a, I say this and I will not stop saying this. If you just take an edible or chill with your friends or just want to have fun, sit down and marry. marathon those Twilight movies and you will never laugh harder. I promise you it is so funny. But then also Sabrina, we're going to be getting Robert Pattinson as Batman,
Starting point is 01:05:59 which is going to be sick to see as well. I agree with you. I love these actors. I think that they were so young when they did Twilight. I watched an actor on actors interview with Robert Pattinson, and I feel like it was Ellen Pompeo, and she was asking him about his roles, and he was like, because he is considered an indie actor
Starting point is 01:06:20 in a lot of ways other than Twilight. But he said when Twilight first was bought and was getting ready to be produced and I was auditioning for the role, it was considered an indie film. And so he had no idea where it was going to really go to and it ended up being the most pop culture movie of that decade other than Harry Potter.
Starting point is 01:06:41 It's crazy because, yeah, they had such a low budget. They had basically like no-name actors. Kristen Stewart had done like Panic Room speak, a few other small stuff beforehand. But that just launched. And you see the, like, how big the budget gets later on into the series. But that first one, it's low budget and it's fantastic. That final battle, just nuts.
Starting point is 01:07:03 Absolutely mind-blowing. I, like, 15-year-old Sabrina was in the theater, and she was just absolutely mind-blown by that third act in the last film. I love that. I'm going to finally watch those. I'm going to finally watch those because, blank check, they're doing commentaries on that franchise. I've never seen them. And they got Chris White's, the director of the second one, I believe,
Starting point is 01:07:25 to be on the commentary with them. So I'm super excited for that. I'm listening to their part. I think someone said, like, you got to get used to like the pacing of that of Blank Check, like, and like how they run their show. And I'm definitely seeing that. Like, I'm, I'm listening, I'm listening to their Boys in the Hood episode right now. Yeah. And it's good, but I'm like, okay, like, you got to get, you got to get used to like the flow and like the chemistry between the host. You said Blank Check and I heard Disney Channel original film Blankton. Oh, Macintosh. I think that was in theaters. Was that a Disney Channel? That wasn't a D-com. That was a full theatrical release. That wasn't a D-Com. That was a D-Tom.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Oh, God. Wow. Um, Ben, who's another underrated actor-actress? Sid Epitphefect 13 donated $55. Here's money. Out here in these streets work in so no time to think of actors, but plenty of time to type this out and give money. Brain no work much hashtag payday 55. Hey, thank you, curbside profit 13. Hey, thank you.
Starting point is 01:08:35 That was a really generous donation. We appreciate you and happy fucking Friday. Yeah, Malcolm, you got to get the Daniel Craig soundbite. Ladies and gentlemen, the weekend. We gotta get that soundbite for every Friday. That'd be good. My next one is Garrett Dillahunt.
Starting point is 01:08:54 I don't know if you guys know who that is. But he's just like one of those just like character actors that just like works all the time. He was in Raising Hope. He's in Deadwood, 12 years of slave, no country for old man. He's in fear of the walking dead. He's just like given like, he's just like these small performances throughout his career. But he always stands out for me. Um, because I like westerns a lot. So he like is like just like built for that. Like I feel like if he was like in the 50s, he would be John Wayne or something like that. Like he would have excelled in, um, in like the Western era of Hollywood. But I still love the performances he turns in.
Starting point is 01:09:33 I don't think I'm familiar. What was the name again? Garrett Dillahan. I'm writing him up and saw him, you'd recognize him for sure. Okay, okay. Yeah, I'm writing these down because I, I love some, I feel like, I feel like, we're in the generation. Well, we're moving towards the generation where we are seeing films based on directors, kind of, and like who they're, or what the story is. But I still think that every now and then there are those actors where you just want to see what they're doing and what movies they're in. And sometimes they make the movies. So I'm writing these down. And we're only here for 15 more minutes. So keep sending in those schmobots. The next person on my list is MJ Rodriguez. She is the lead in the show Pose.
Starting point is 01:10:14 one of the greatest acted, written, produced shows, I think ever. So underrated. It's starting to get more acclaim, but there's not as much viewership. Like, I've heard people know what the show is and have heard of it, but a lot of people are scared to indulge with the content. Probably my guess is because you're unfamiliar with the culture of Ballroom and just the LGBTQ community in general. But I promise you, it is a great introduction to this.
Starting point is 01:10:44 type of storytelling and be the greatest show, period. It's so good, but mainly because MJ Rodriguez is in it. She is such an incredible actress. I can't wait to see her in more things. I love following her on Instagram, too. You know, she is an advocate for so many different groups, and it's cool to see someone who's equally talented off screen and on screen. So, and I think she's slated for a few movies coming up.
Starting point is 01:11:12 she was in Saturday Church a disclosure I never got to see disclosure but she is definitely an actress to watch yeah I've never seen pose so
Starting point is 01:11:24 oh you haven't I'm telling you I'm terrible with TV I'm just bad with it yeah that's on my list but it's always Ryan Murphy things are
Starting point is 01:11:34 touch and go or hit or is that a Ryan Murphy it's a Ryan Murphy yeah I'm not going to watch it I just think they hit Billy Porter is in it. Show some respect.
Starting point is 01:11:45 I'll show some respect to Billy Porter. I'm not a Ryan Murphy person. Like he obviously makes great television because the guy is just like everywhere. He's killing it. But it's not my taste. Okay. Okay. I'm not going to force anything on you.
Starting point is 01:12:01 Alex, did you get to go on this round? I know it was our last round before we're going to read some superchats from yesterday. I didn't go yet. But Ben, I wanted to say. you were going to say Garrett Headland. I do love Garrett Headland. Good actor as well. He is. Garrett Headland is. And Tron Legacy
Starting point is 01:12:20 deserved a sequel. Tron Legacy. Mudbound. I think it was in Pan also, right? Yeah, I never saw Pan. I just saw the Nirvana musical number. I was like, what the fuck is happening right now? Tiffany F. says, it's actually a good Ryan Murphy show. So I will give it a chance. I mean, like, the way Steph was
Starting point is 01:12:40 talking about it and the way it's talked about in just in general, I think I'll check that out. And it's in its last season now, I believe. Last and final season, which is a shame. Yeah, for my fourth pick, I don't really talk about her much. I don't know if you've heard of her,
Starting point is 01:13:00 Caitlin Deaver. Hey, guess what Caitlin Deaver was in? Justified, baby! Oh, yeah. Hey, she was one of the top actresses that I watched last year and also this year. So, yeah, I mean, my dinner invitation is still open for her. She still wants to if she's not busy enough, you know, she wants to grab some good pasta, you know. The invitation is still open.
Starting point is 01:13:32 Someone clip this out, send it to Caitlin Dever. Every time he does this, just give him the chance. I guess I give you props for being out there. Put him in, coach. Put him in. Yeah. Yeah, look at that. Yeah, you are one of the cutest babies ever, I got to say.
Starting point is 01:13:48 No, I lost it. I lost it, though. That is not true. No, you still have that same energy. Like, I know exactly. I'm like, that's Alex. I could pick it out of a lineup. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:57 100%. We're going to be in New York together for the first Schmodeon, and I'm going to put you all my shoulders in Times Square, and we're going to redo that. Does anyone have any other ones that you want to get off your chest? before we start robbing up. I also had Christopher Abbott, Olivia Cook, and Peggy Govins shouted out Margo Martindale. Margo Martindale, season two of Justified.
Starting point is 01:14:23 Watch season is not justified. It's the best season of television. Olivia Cook, yes, Alex, 100%. I love Olivia Cook. Little Fish was so good, but also sound of metal. She's so good in Ready Player 1. Nobody's good in Ready Player 1, Ben. So good.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Sign a peg. So you don't like Ready Player 1? No, that movie sucks. I read the second book. Oh, my God. It's not good. Oh, I just saw excerpts from it, and I try not to judge it because there's some pretty terrible excerpts from Ready Player 1, and I thought that book was like, you know, a fun
Starting point is 01:14:57 beach read. But the excerpts from Ready Player 2 is tough, man. I didn't, I didn't really. It's actually called Ready Player 2? Yeah. I think so, yeah. Literature, Sabrina Literature. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:11 I gotta get on that wave. Right? It's culture. Anyone else? Thomas Mann. Thomas Mann is a young actor that like pops up in a lot of stuff, like big stuff, independent things, me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Kong Skull Island, like all these things in between. But I feel like he's extremely underrated still.
Starting point is 01:15:33 Anya Taylor Joy, extremely underrated. What? Have you guys heard of Christian Bale? No, who is that? Oh my God. It's not like pictures of his weight loss and weight gains for every single role trend on Twitter every five minutes. Everyone's like, have you ever seen that he lost weight and was skinny in this movie? I'm like, yes, we've all seen it a thousand times.
Starting point is 01:15:58 Paul Giamatti, underrated. No, it's not. I think he's unrated. Yeah, yeah, Samuel L. Jackson. underrated underrated every now and then he pops up underrated
Starting point is 01:16:16 yeah yeah absolutely I'm trying to look at this Johnny Depp underrated oh my gosh completely underrated by the way
Starting point is 01:16:29 90s Johnny Depp would have made the perfect Paul Walker 90s Johnny Depp would have made the perfect Paul Walker oh yeah I would say an empty guys
Starting point is 01:16:38 Oh man, we have 10 minutes left. Send in your Shmo bots for your most underrated actors and actresses or whatever else you want to talk about on this crazy fucking Friday. We want to hear from you. Jack Nicholson. Jack Nicholson. Oh, shit. Jack Nicholson.
Starting point is 01:16:59 He's like, oh my gosh, so underrated. The most nominated actor in the history of the academy, underrated. Tom Cruise. We can't even look at the academy. We can't even look at the Academy because they constantly snub Francis McDormant. Like give Francis McDormon in Oscar already. Well, no, you know who's fucking snub. Give Jennifer Lawrence a chance.
Starting point is 01:17:18 Anthony Hopkins. Oh, Francis, Anthony, come on. Academy. Come on, guys. Academy. I go with, uh... We're seeing. I go with Eco Oweis because he was under-raded. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:17:40 The raid did. That's the show ever. Yeah, that's all our time here, folks. Thank you so much for joining us. I'm just kidding. We have a few minutes left to get in your... Alex is Gary Oldman, because this is his darkest hour. Why?
Starting point is 01:17:57 No, that's not a serious choice, you know? Are you... Let me get to... Let me get to some super chats from me out today because I promised that I would get to them. Sorry that we missed them yesterday. So here we go. Jamon John, says Denise.
Starting point is 01:18:17 as Al Capone in Untouchables or Pacino is lefty and Donnie Brasco. Which of these performances is most overlooked? Cheers. Pacino's never overlooked. Never. This he is. He's not. He's perfectly rated.
Starting point is 01:18:32 You know, like, the idea of overrated. He was one Oscar that he got for scent of a woman. Not the Godfather or Part 2 or Serpico or Dog Day afternoon. Like. Everybody knows Pacino's like one of the goats. Yeah, for me. Exactly. He's underrated by this panel.
Starting point is 01:18:58 Yeah, no. So I missed a question. De Niro is Al Capone in Untouchables, or Pacino is Lefty and Donnie Brasco, which one is overlooked? Oh, we went Al Pacino? I mean, I'm going to say, Pachino and Donnie Brasco. Yeah. I think people don't bring up Donnie Brasco as much as they should. It's one of his best movies. Yeah, I haven't heard that in a while. Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty underrated. Tom Hardy as Al Capone was overlooked. I heard that movie was awful so I didn't watch it.
Starting point is 01:19:33 I loved it. It's stupid. No, it's not stupid, but it's like, it's so stupid. I love you. You're stupid. It's like not what you would expect. Like don't go into this being like, oh yeah, like gangster film. It is so much better than that. It's actually really good. Okay. But it's odd. Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:57 Yeah. All right. Next one from Jamie and John. Why is Cinderella Man? Why did Cinderella Man tank? Underrated Oscar winner donated $20. One of the most underrated actors is Alfred Molina. He's been great for decades and he never got an Oscar nod or won a major award.
Starting point is 01:20:12 award. He leaves an impact even in small roles. Last year his one scene with Kerry Mulligan in promising young woman was amazing. Yeah. Avramurelian is the greatest and he doesn't pay attention to NDAs at all so I stand even. I saw him, I saw him as Tavvia in Fiddler on the roof on Broadway in 2004 and as the father in the father on the stage last year right before the movie came out. That's amazing. That's awesome.
Starting point is 01:20:44 Good guy. Thank you for that. Keep sending in those schmobots. We have about eight, six minutes left. So it gets eight, ten, five, six minutes left to get in your schmobots. We want to hear your most underrated actors and actresses. What's next, Alex? We got two that are kind of meant for Christian, but I'll read them here anyway,
Starting point is 01:21:03 and I'll make sure to ask him when he's on next Thursday. Galen Shumway says Barstool Trivy has mentioned the Shmodeon a couple times and Damon was on there. Any chance we ever see Shmodon versus Barstle trivia night? They do mixed bag questions. Channel versus channel. Pretty fun. Yeah, that'd be fun. How are your guys' like Rego trivia knowledge?
Starting point is 01:21:23 I do okay. Johnny Fy for Life donated $20. I mean, have you heard of this Tom Hanks guy? Where'd he come from? Right? Out of nowhere. Obscurity. Like, what A-24 film has Tom's Hank's been in?
Starting point is 01:21:38 Exactly overrated. Over-fucking rated. Is he an 824? No, fuck off. Exactly, but he's doing like the Greyhound. Like he, I saw the thing and it was like, Tom Hanks will not stop unless he plays every last American. Because like from Sully to all these different ones,
Starting point is 01:21:53 he's always taking on just like real Americans. So he's still a king, but he should be in an A24 film. Absolutely. But extremely underrated. So thank you for bringing that to our attention. I appreciate that. That was so stupid of us for not realize. So stupid.
Starting point is 01:22:09 Ticuously. Just not recognized for his greatness. All right, Alex next. All right, another one, not meant for us, but I got to read it. Anyway, Kay Wolf says I cut off my own first question with a shot at Roka, but I'll ask again, any update on the new themes going up on the Skydown store. Kay Wolf, we will have your answer next Thursday. Thank you very much for a donation yesterday.
Starting point is 01:22:28 Peaceful guy donated and probably donated to gifts. So thank you very much. And Justin Harris says, we need the call. And you did get it, Justin Harris. So if you missed that call, go check it out. where Kate pranked Paul Preston yesterday. So we had a lot of fun of that. All right, and that's all the super chance from yesterday.
Starting point is 01:22:49 Cool. I fulfilled my obligation. My watch has ended. End of walk. And done. Fairly long. Oh, that was so dramatic. See you later.
Starting point is 01:22:59 No, don't go. Don't go. He's just going to be. He's still here with us, though. Why I have trust issues. No, I don't want a picture. Oh my gosh. See, it's Freaky Friday, y'all.
Starting point is 01:23:15 Time to get freaky. You have three minutes left to send in some of your schmobots. Get us more off-rail than we already have been this entire episode. But it has been a really fun episode. I realize that we forgot a lot about a lot of actors that are so underrated, like Tom Hanks, Merrill Streep, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie. These are the names we don't hear a lot. Morgan Freeman.
Starting point is 01:23:39 Yeah, I don't even know who that is. is. I would have to look him up. Oh, my God. Okay, so he has like this like cool voice thing, but a lot of people like don't get it. They don't get it. But I think you'll get it because you're like eclectic and like that cool critic girl. So I think you'll see it. He's underrated. Oh, the marching penguins guy. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. What, um, as we get out of here, though, what's everyone doing this weekend watching any movies? movies, TV shows on the mind. I'm going to see Wrath of Man at 1 o'clock today.
Starting point is 01:24:15 Ooh. Yeah. And I want to try and get that the Those Who Wish Me Dead, or what's the new Taylor-Shared in film this weekend? Is it Those Who Wish Me Dead? I believe so. Yeah, I'm excited to see that because I'm a big Taylor. Wind River is one of my favorites, and he wrote
Starting point is 01:24:31 Heller High Water and Sicario. I believe both of them. So those are some of my favorite films. So I'm excited for both of those. And that's the one with newcomer Angelina Jolet? Yes. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:44 Rising star. Okay. All right. Oh, yeah. I think I'm going to go see Spiral. I've heard like mixed things, but I'm here. I like Saw. I think Saw is different. Another rising star on Chris Rock and Sam Hill Jackson.
Starting point is 01:24:57 Yeah, exactly. Season 4 of Castlevania just came out on Netflix. I was watching Matt. That is an amazing part tune. Amazing. Very excited. I should watch is I didn't realize Camp Cretaceous season two is out. Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous.
Starting point is 01:25:16 It is better than both of the Jurassic World movies. It is harmless. It is fun. It is made for kids. But it is good. I had a great time. Watch Camp Cretaceous one and two. Wait,
Starting point is 01:25:27 I had a show or a movie. Yeah, it's a Netflix show. Speaking of Netflix shows, Ben, have you watched Love and Robots or Sex and Robots or whatever? Love Death and Robots. Yeah. Yeah, the first season, the first, like, it's just a bunch of, like, small sex and robots. No, that's Sabrina's weekend plans. I was like, actually, no, I started Mitchells and the Machines.
Starting point is 01:25:50 I'm like, close to. I'm like, what's Netflix was. I watched that, too. Mitchell's versus the machines is great. It's good. Like, they're all, like, you know, anthology, short films. There's some good. There's some that I didn't like.
