Starting point is 00:00:00 It's fall to date. So it is the show, and Wicked is a highly anticipated movie. It's coming out in November. Same weekend as Gladiator, too, I think. And the question was, were some of the comments by Cynthia, are you going to be a deterrent for people? And we still don't know the answer to that question, but we do know that the reactions for the first screenings are in. And is it going to be a big hit? Is it going to be a stinker? What are the critics that saw it? What are they saying? The new Jack Ryan movie, that might be coming out.
Starting point is 00:00:37 There's a lot of other stuff. And we will be discussing, and I will be discussing about how depressing it is that the Yankees couldn't even get to a game six. Horrible. Thank you for joining us on the show. It's me, myself, it's Brett, it's Steph, it's everybody, it's great, it's wonderful.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Can't wait for you guys to see this show. Happy horseshit, here we go. Welcome back one and all to the Christian Harlow show. It is Thursday. And becoming a fixture of the Thursday show is Steph Sabra. She is here. Happy Halloween. That's right.
Starting point is 00:01:24 It is Halloween. It's funny. You don't even have to wear any costume because you've got those ears. And I think that serves just as well. Thank you for noticing. You're welcome. You know, you would have liked what my little one wrote yesterday because it was her anniversary my wife and I and she wrote a uh a card and on the card it was a pizza and all it wrote
Starting point is 00:01:45 it was like a thing with its fists up and said you want a pizza me it's hilarious what i don't know where she found it but it was like that's the perfect anniversary now ever ever um and jumping back and forth all over the place not just that cat in the back or the dog in the background rather but brett sheridan is here and we didn't even switch it up i didn't even switch it up yet just for you buddy How's your glitchy camera doing good? Doing great, guys. Probably might need to just not do the show at this point. Well, it's funny because you usually have the best setup,
Starting point is 00:02:22 but today you have the worst. So congratulations on that. Yeah, I'm looking in the settings and I'm Googling right now. So hopefully at some point I'll have this bad boy going because Steph and I are going to win today. Right. Well, that's the thing. Last week, you guys,
Starting point is 00:02:39 got so close and it looked like you had it in the bag and then Winston and Coy came from out of nowhere to win it but but you did beat Roka last week but beating him this week is going to be tough as he stands at 111 right now. Okay. Yeah so you're well I think we can get one 13 13 for Halloween now now Steph's freezing so this is good is a good show so far great show so far yes I really like what's happening here Brett's got a glitchy camera This is the first shitty virtual streaming patents since we started doing this. But I'll let people know this while we try to get everything
Starting point is 00:03:15 and say, if you have anything open our computer, please shut that fucking thing now. So the Penguin is one of the hottest shows on TV. And I just had on Renzi Felice, who plays Vic. I had him on the show talking about an hour. That interview is on the channel now. I saw a lot of people who were watching that, commenting on it.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Please comment on it more. Put your thoughts in there. I want to hear what you think about the new setup that I was shooting at and all that and more. So we have a clips channel that's been doing pretty good. So we hope that you like it. And yeah, put some questions in there. Right now, Steph and Brett have a while to climb. Is there at nine before we start the actual show?
Starting point is 00:03:57 Yeah. So let's see. What is going on? I don't understand what's happening with Steph's camera. Why is it doing that? I don't understand. Everything's weird today. It's because it's Halloween.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Maybe because it's spooky season. Well, Steph, you know what we'll try to do. Let's say it's clearing up a little bit more. There you go. It's clearing up a little bit. Okay. Let's get to this story about Wicked, and then we can discuss it. Wicked, the first reactions to John M. Chu's musical adaptation are in.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Following the recent press screenings, the first reactions to Universal's feature adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked have been shared to social media. Mark Cassidy writes, Universal Pictures recently had a preview of Wicked for select critics and social media influencers, and the first social media reactions are very positive indeed. It sounds like fans of the Broadway smash hit are in for a treat, although it's always worth keeping in mind that these initial reactions do tend to be enthusiastic.
Starting point is 00:04:51 That said, several people who saw the movie admit to being surprised by how much they enjoyed it. Wicked tells the story of its shy, green-skinned woman named El Faba, I guess, becomes a cackling villain with a version to Water We've First Met in The Wizard of Us. Cynthia Arrivo stars as El Faba, who will ultimately become the Wicked Witch of the West. While pop megastar Ariana Grande will play Glinda, aka the Good Witch of the East, both actresses have come in for high praise on their performances. We should get a more balanced consensus on the movie when the full review embargo lifts, but for now, this is some of the reactions. Drew Taylor, Wicked is solid, sumptuously realized, occasionally quite moving. Both leads are amazing, but also falls into some of the traps of the Disney Live Action remakes that diminishing.
Starting point is 00:05:37 its power overlong noisy over designed overall I like it a lot and I can't wait for part two Simon Thompson yeah I love Simon wicked movie is an Oz some spectacle that pops and enchant on the big screen an absolutely stunning vision leads Arevo and Grande knock it out of the park while this perhaps won't convert many anti-musical folk genre fans and die-hard Ozians will feast on this and then Lauren the Sinsie close One of the most perfect musical adaptations to ever exist. Wicked movie exceeded my expectation.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Cynthia Riva and Aria Grande are matchmade in cinematic musical heaven. One dance scene in particular had me so emotional. Wow, I can't wait to see it again, is the shiz. Scott Menzel. Wicked is a cinematic spectacle that serves as one of the very best big screen adaptations of a Broadway musical ever. John M. Chu perfectly captures the magic of the Broadway show while adding in some of his unique flourishes to the source material. And then the last one we'll read here is that Aaron Strecker says, happy to confirm that Wicked is the best musical to movie adaptations in Chicago and Mamma Mia.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Ariana Grande is perfection. Hillebuster and I kept grabbing each other's arm into light. So you hear these reactions. Now, we've talked about this before, that, nor this, I mean, it was just a screening, so it wasn't a premiere. I always take the premiere reactions with a grain of salt because everybody's so excited to be at the premiere and looking at the celebrities and the atmospheres as people who worked on it. I don't really take those reactions. I've been in that room where it's just like I've talked about it,
Starting point is 00:07:10 where I've been there and people are like so enamored by everything that they can't really give a real reaction to it. But I was always able to, Steph, because I was tired and I wouldn't want to be there. And I knew I had to drive about an hour. So I just knew that I was going to go, get me out of here. But these screenings are different.
Starting point is 00:07:28 These are press screenings. So if I'm universal and I'm wicked, I'm pretty excited right now. Right. Yeah, I feel like they're pleasing the people that they were aiming for. It seems like a lot of these initial critics are fans of the live action adoption, some of these plays and theater work. So that's good. I always think it's good enough that the people you're aiming for love it.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And then hopefully everyone else loves it too. Brett, do you care about this movie at all? I haven't been so focused on how shitty. my camera yeah why don't you why don't you tell me when you got that and i'll i'll come back to you i'm gonna pop out and you uh guys do this and maybe i'll come back when we or maybe you won't all right well it's nice to see well but he's what i do care about i do love the wicked um i've seen it live a few times and i do love that oh so yeah i've never i've never seen it before but um i've never seen it either i've only heard the soundtrack there's a few bangers on that
Starting point is 00:08:32 soundtrack. Yeah, you're good things. Yeah, yeah, I've been excited about this. I was disheartened, I guess, I don't know if that's the right word, but I was, I was stressed out for the team. Oh, there was the backlash going on and yeah, I thought that that was intense for, I don't know. I still, it was like, yeah, I still would, I still would like to see her address that and to be honest she won't but she she did she did what did she say like uh in a really roundabout way she was like i forget that i don't want to butcher the terminology but she basically said that she wasn't even that mad about it but like and then she said i should have just kept it within my circle of friends yeah texted them about it okay and so she said something or along those
Starting point is 00:09:24 lines that you'll give me props on that because that's exactly what you should have done um you should have definitely kept it in but i hope there was an apology to the fans who actually worked on it but maybe not it was just so um i understand when you see something and you're like well i don't really like that and this is my face i do understand that and empathize with that but it was it feels like it was done in a very very innocent manner and that's the part that i feel sensitive to the fans about because they're thinking that this is when you're working on a property that's been around for years it's more more than you like you're just a character you're just a you're an actor who is getting to play an awesome character who's already been built up in somebody's head so uh it's not even though you have
Starting point is 00:10:13 your own rendition of the character it's just as much the people's character at this point so it was conflicting well the good news is this well first of all she didn't double down on it right yeah yeah that's that's part one if if i'm universal i'm going okay she maybe it wasn't a full on apology or whatever it is maybe we don't feel like she needs to give a full on apology if she addressed it she said she shouldn't have i feel that because of that alone because she didn't double down it will blow over from the time this movie comes out it'll low over people a couple people who weren't even intended to seeing in the first place will still say oh she did she did this and this and that the people who we
Starting point is 00:10:52 really want to see it, I think we'll forgive it and they're going to go check it out, especially if it starts getting really good reviews like it seems like it is. This movie could be huge. Now it's a very different audience from Gladiator 2, which comes up the same day. So you're going to have a big weekend that weekend. So Steph, you only have, you can only watch one. Gladiator 2 or Wicked, what are you saying? Oh my gosh, it sucks to answer because I do think I'm going to do a double header, but I would say Gladiator too because I know I'm going to watch it with my family and I know it's the whole family will be more pleased. Yeah, I mean that's what about you? No brainer for me. I'm going
Starting point is 00:11:32 to see you gladiator too. But I but I am I am encouraged by I've never seen Wicked. I've only heard great things about the the play. I didn't love these trailers at all. I do like musicals though. So I am not I'm not somebody who's like well you know they said in that tweet you're not going to win over the people who don't like musicals. Well, I do like musicals. And I do, and I, you know, I was a theater major. And I would love to see a really good musical. I didn't know you were a theater major. Yeah, I was. Unbelievable. That's how I met Roka and Mike Vogel. That makes so much more sense. Yeah. So they, so yeah, so that particular thing is a reason I would want to see it. Now, right.
Starting point is 00:12:19 If they're the one common thread in all of those tweets was that it was the best musical or Broadway adaptation done thus far. Strong words. Yeah. It is strong words, but I could totally see it happening just based on the cards that they have in their hands. Like John M. Chu as a director and then you have two of the greatest singers are live right now and performers. So in Ariana Grande, like, she can. really act her on SNL was so impressive to me like I've always seen her jimmy fallon interviews where she does all the impressions and i thought that was amazing but it's so
Starting point is 00:12:59 different when you're doing like a full sketch and you don't break character and she gets like so into it so um i'm really excited for her acting career yeah i just feel like they have a lot going for them the entire cast is pretty stacked so i think it will and it looks visually really beautiful If it's as good as these tweets are saying it is, it's going to make a lot of money. It's going to do well. I think it is actually a good pairing with Gladiator, too. If you had to go head to head with a major movie. It's like Barbenheimer almost.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think it's going to do very well. I think it's coming out of a good time. So I'm very curious. Speaking of SNL, I watched, was it who was the, who was the, Michael Keaton, I think, was the host. Did you watch that episode? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:47 The worst sketch I've ever seen was that whole thing of the, hey, soul, sister, that thing. That was awful. Oh, the song. The song. Different song. That song, like, I understand the bit and what the joke was, but that's not, that song's not offensive. Yeah. I know what they were trying to do because, but it was like, you could have found something that would have really got, because Keenan did it, did the reaction to it.
Starting point is 00:14:14 It's so great. but yeah i thought that sketch was horrendous yeah that that one was a little lackluster for me it was bad there was a freaking what's his face uh dana garvey has joe bidenan kills me it kills me i can't believe they brought back to na carvey for this every time i see him i'm like oh my gosh that's dana carvey it's in they they're so stacked i don't know when they've ever not been when they're doing politics, but the Maya as Kamala, him as Joe Biden. It just is, and their Trump is so good. Hey, folks, come on. Here's a deal. That's so good. Brett, are you still here? Yeah, I'm back. I'm Brett's here. Okay, I got a set of Brett shot again. Starting point is 00:18:18 really that's coming up that's coming up this is really up there it it was uh yeah when i when they told me they were i i've never seen the audience collectively while i debuted them i think on monday saying up this is the one i'm signing up for absolutely absolutely we're entering fall and it's cuddle season and you need to relax people's cortisol levels are way too high i slept like oh it was it was was out cold there then I was just they they customize the things for you and they sent me one and it was just very nice um very revolutionary I love it what a world what a world um okay this is brett I'm going to show you a picture and did you look at the stories be honest that I sent you did you look at them I was driving it's okay that you didn't it's okay let me ask you I'm going to
Starting point is 00:19:09 show you real quick and I want you to tell me who that uh well before I do that that I give it away you see it um okay is it step as a nanny because i'm gonna show you no not stuff as a nanny let me show you let me show you this picture and you're gonna i'm gonna give you three seconds you got to tell me who it is ready one two three oh gosh it's well it's it's it's it's not um who you think it is um so you know the story you saw the story no no um god i uh look look again look again Brett, Brett, get it together. You know this. You got this.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Is it Gary Oldman? No. Is it? I probably just leave it on there and let you try to guess. Yeah, it's tough. Ready? No. Steph, go ahead and help him down.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Who is it? That's Marlon Brando. It is not Marlon Brando. But it's not. No, it is it. that is not marlin brander brett was brett was right you were wrong yeah no you said you didn't read the story either um so you're the one that told me to send stories in the first place and you didn't read it yeah yeah but it was all right well how about this now don't don't don't your excuses are
Starting point is 00:20:31 are nothing to me um okay billy zane is marlin brando look at that picture wow that is a great picture Billy Zane is a spitting image of Marlon Brando in that picture. He's going to participate in Italy's Torino Film Festival in late November for the world premiere of the highly anticipated film Waltzing with Brando directing by Bill Fishman. Zane plays Marlon Brando in a period in the early 70s when he's preparing a star in The Godfather and The Last Tango in Paris. Project is based on a memoir by the actor's architect Bernard Judge. Judge was an idealistic Los Angeles architect, whom Brando, Brando, convinced to build the world's first ecologically perfect retreat on the tiny and uninhabitable French Polynesian island of Titoa. Sure. The bulk of the film was actually shot on
Starting point is 00:21:24 Tyroa with John Heater co-starring as Judge while Tia Carrera. Nice. Richard Dreyfus. I want you to smell me. Elena Huffman, Camille Rezat, Sophia Masson, Rob Condry, and David Guerrera co-starred. Waltzing with Brando will serve as the closing film with Torino, which is celebrating the Sentinel of Marlon Brando's birth with a 24 title film. So that, I don't know if this movie's going to do anything at all. I have no clue, but I can tell you that that is one of the best makeup jobs, at least in a picture that I've seen. Steph, you've got to read because you didn't even realize who it was. Okay, first of all, it was the last article you sent, so call me off guard.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Yeah, no, it's not true. You just looked at and did your research. Don't lie to me now. And then second of all, I have to apologize to Brett, because I thought that he didn't know who the godfather was, which would have been absolutely insane. I didn't know this was a like an out, like this was a weird question. I knew Christian wouldn't ask me if it was Marlon Randall. Okay, okay. Yeah, you were two steps ahead of me and I was 10 steps behind. I see. I'm mad at myself. I should have done it to you. I except the feet. I thought you read the story.
Starting point is 00:22:35 That's crazy makeup. Crazy, crazy makeup. Whoever did that should definitely. be nominated this year. It's really, really good. I don't know how good the movie will be. I don't know, but Brett, what do you think? I think it looks great. I mean, you know, if going off of pictures, I think it's going to be amazing film.
Starting point is 00:22:55 I will, fun fact, my mom has a medicine bottle of Marlon Brando's that she found in like an abandoned house. Like the panhandle of Nebraska when she was playing. So he lived very briefly. Props to Mama Sheridan.
Starting point is 00:23:11 I only said that because I know she'll tell me after the show. Right. I'm not going to spoil yet because Agatha all along, I didn't see yet. You're watching it, Brett? No, I forgot it was on last night. Oh, this finale. So here's a two episode finale. So for people who've been wondering, you know, if Sadie and I are going to be doing the reactions to it, we're going to try to do it today.
Starting point is 00:23:37 But just with Halloween and everything else with the kids and just didn't work out. So instead of abandoning it, what we're going to try to do is either shoot it tomorrow and air it on Saturday or, worst case, shoot it on Saturday and then air it on, you know, whenever we get it done. But we will finish it. But it's just been tough.
Starting point is 00:23:57 I realize that we can't have Sadie do TV shows because it's just not, her schedule is just, you know, it's too contingent on the kids. So. Okay. So movies. Yeah, movies. But Steph, so you watched it?
Starting point is 00:24:11 What were your thoughts? Yes, it's so good. It was such a great finale. I'm so glad that they did two episodes. I wasn't expecting that, but it makes so much sense because it was the night before Halloween and it's definitely the most Halloweeny they get. But still in a very serious way. I'm so impressed with this show.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I think they did such a great job. It was really a great finale. So I watched the, I did watch, because I realized we're not going to react. So I said, you know, did watch it was episode seven and thought that was great. Yeah. It was my, it was my favorite episode. I thought the episode so far have been fun. You know, they've been fine.
Starting point is 00:24:52 I thought that that was a very well-written episode. And you're playing, anything you play with time and you do it well, you're going to get me on board. And Brett, you saw that one? Yeah, yeah, very cool. I love this show by being homophobic. Call back to the last show. Only joking people. No, I love it.
Starting point is 00:25:13 And I love that it's something that as much as I hate not being able to watch it every week, it was nice that we had something to look forward to. But I'm old and I forgot was on Wednesday nights. Yeah. But I mean, it's also picked up in the ratings and stuff too. So I'm curious to see how the finale did. I'll be checking it out. Is it just a one-off or is they're going to like Wanda vision?
Starting point is 00:25:37 It's always hard to say because the MCU, the way, places that any of those characters could come back in even if it's not in another season you know it could come back they can come back in a different movie or something so who knows i don't know but um yeah i guess the other side of it is that step you've been watching the penguin right right did you get a chance to see the interview that i did with renzi no not yeah i'm so excited too yeah we um we talked about a lot of stuff and he the question that i asked him that i loved his answer to and i'm probably going to put it out as a clipout was why without spoiling anything I'll just
Starting point is 00:26:12 say this well no I guess it would spoil something but there's a particular moment that his character makes in I think it was episode three a certain thing that he does and I asked him exactly like why the character did me had a good answer to it so I asked him about Miles Morales I asked him about
Starting point is 00:26:28 a bunch of things so but I need to catch back up with them because we can both grieve about how shitty the Yankees played you're a dodger you're a you're a you're a you're a Padres person right yeah yeah ish like I'm like adjacent but um I that was tough for you guys it was tough it was handled terribly and I realized you know that like so this morning um Brad Gilmore sent me some gift or whatever that all it's called on um about the Yankees
Starting point is 00:26:57 and I and I so I wrote them back and we went back and forth and kind of you know we're jabbing at each other but I said here's the deal I said you can have you can have your little thing what do you want to say because you're you're in you first of all you broke the rules because you really your team didn't even i don't know they weren't even in the conversation he's an astros person i was like so but i'll let you talk crap because the yankees and the astros are rivals and you know and i'm sure their misery is your is is his happiness but he's always been an astros fan so you know when you're a dirty cheater you got to do something that's what and that's what those that's what they are But nonetheless, I understand.
Starting point is 00:27:36 When you're a Texas Rangers fan and you decide because you live in Los Angeles, you're going to be a diehard Dodgers fan now and then you're going to talk smack. There's one thing you can root for people. You want to root for people? I live in L.A. I'm going to root for him. Home team. Okay. You're not allowed to become a smack talker for that team, Winston. You're not allowed to do it.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Oh, Winston's doing that? He's quieted down on the, um, he has, he has, he's quieted down on the, um, he has, He hasn't, he hasn't, I haven't heard him on time. I'm sure he's waiting for Friday, but, right. But he's, he's going to get it. And staff, I'll tell you what. Yeah. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:28:11 I think that's a good, I think that's a fair point because I like the Dodgers because I've lived here for so long, but I'm not defending them. Like, I'm not going out to fight for them. Right. I'm just like, oh, that's cool that they want them. I'm happy for them. That's right. And that's because you live there and you're not going to pretend to be a rival for no reason.
Starting point is 00:28:29 No, especially not against the East Coast team people. Oh. I feel like you guys run life differently. Texas, Texas Ranger fan. What are you talking about? I feel like my mom and my wife were going to come to blows on a text thread that we had because my mom's a Yankees fan and Lonnie grew up here.
Starting point is 00:28:45 And, you know, her dad was made her watch games. That's different. That's different. Yeah, but my mom was taunting her. She sent a picture of a Yankees shirt. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:28:54 mom, are you starting shit with my wife? Okay, but here's the thing. That's a warranted beef. Like, you know, it's probably not.
Starting point is 00:29:02 pleasant for you, but it's, it's a, it is, claims are valid. It's a fair, it's a fair, it's a fair beef. Um, you can't be a Rangers fan and then say, oh, because I live here, I'm going to start talking smack. It just, it doesn't, I'm going to, this is why I plan to talk to Winston yesterday. Winston might be one of my favorite people that I met in Los Angeles. Um, I hate him as a sports friend. I think he is the epitome. I think he's the epitome. I think he's the epitome of what a front running horrible sports fan is. I think as a human, he's a great person. And I trust him with anything.
Starting point is 00:29:36 As a sports fan, he is the epitome of a crap fan. Yeah, I mean, I would have been talking smack to you knew it would be bullshit because I don't watch sports. So I shouldn't. Lonnie could do it. I can't. She lived here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Wait, what did you think about the Yankees fan that tried to pull the ball on? It was the funniest thing I ever saw. Did you see this Brett? No, no. So whatever the guy that Dodgers is the right fielder. He goes, he catches the ball in the foul territory. And New Yorker not only tries to get the ball. They double team.
Starting point is 00:30:17 They hold his arm and the other guy sticks his hand in the glove and rips it out of his glove. And then he's like, well, he was on our side. It was like, it was crazy. It was crazy running the video in slow motion. So it really felt like, first of all, the outfielder was catching air for like six seconds straight and being held against his will it was hilarious it was so new york was so new york was this the last game last night no this no this is uh game i think it's the first my son came out of the room and said hey do you want to watch the
Starting point is 00:30:52 baseball game i'm like yeah let's do it look at that um step i have great news for you because you the only person who really understands this person okay hey staff look at me I'm here for you oh my gosh how you're doing hi hi thank you see now you don't run away Roker run away and because you didn't run away I'm not going to put these on your head oh thank God but I put them his leg at first oh I already have yeah I already have these balls so I I I can't afford the the weight i understand well i just want to let you know i likes you a lot you're nice i can't believe you're here thank you i feel like i just entered into uh the rogers movie oh no what's happening testing the waters yeah he was
Starting point is 00:31:53 dirt bag oh my gosh amazing yeah so he's doing that he's doing that he's he is but you my oh my there goes he goes is that a little a little penis
Starting point is 00:32:08 on I get that little guy right there oh my gosh that's what I do's that's what I do bye bye perfect
Starting point is 00:32:22 going to jail he's going to go he's going to be in jail with the guy the Yankee fan who stole the ball yeah um anyway it was hilarious watching roker try to swat him away he was not thrilled it was the best stop it was good yeah it was good winson's gonna get it um okay so let's keep him on winston's screen the whole time the whole time all right so this is something the flashes sasha kai says it was a harp it was heartbreaking to be replaced as super
Starting point is 00:32:54 girl after signing a multi-film deal. Sasha Kaye has now opened up about her experience filming the Flash, admitting that it was heartbreaking to end up being replaced as Supergirl after signing a multi-picture contract. She made her debut as Supergirl in last year's The Flash, but what should have been a joyous introduction to a major superhero franchise was soured by a number of factors, including Ezra Miller's legal trouble, the movie's underperformance of the box office, and the fact that the DCU was on his last legs. When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of the newly implemented DC Studios,
Starting point is 00:33:27 the search began for another actress to play Kara Zorrell in the DCU, with House of the Dragon Store, Amelia Alcock, ultimately taking over as our new big screen girl of steel. Speaking to the Hollywood reporter about her next project, Joe Carnahan's RIP, Kaye opened up about the situation for the first time, revealing that she did sign a multi-film deal when she initially accepted the role. So I was so deeply in love with that role. I had a conversation about her future many times.
Starting point is 00:33:55 When I signed on to that, it was for a multiple picture deal. It's a common thing when you sign onto a franchise. It was heartbreaking for me and it was very confusing. It was a rough experience. So I look forward to working with people in this industry who see my value and who are excited to work with me. I have so much to give. I love my job so much and I'm excited to start kicking ass again.
Starting point is 00:34:12 I love action movies, whether it's supernatural or not. I'm just so excited to continue doing these things. And I know that I will do these things with or without that role. I look back at it as something super beautiful. It's been said that a queer Latino girl like me couldn't be supergirl, but I was. And no one can take that away from me. This is the most important thing for me.
Starting point is 00:34:28 I did something that matter. And whether you saw yourself represented in me or not, a lot of people really connected with her and loved her. One silver lining that emerged from the short stint in the DCU was a friendship with Leslie Grace, who she never got to make her debut as back girl when Warner Brothers Discovery decided to scrap the project as write-off. I don't know what I would have done without Leslie,
Starting point is 00:34:49 to be honest with you. I feel like she got it even worse. and yet she was just this divine light of love and warmth. And even though it came from a really confusing and painful situation, we got to have this beautiful friendship that is true and honest and sincere and kind, and we were there for each other, and I'm happy that we had each other then. Kay's take on Supergirl proved to be one of the more popular aspects of The Flash,
Starting point is 00:35:09 so it's a shame she won't get the opportunity to reprise the role. Maybe another comic book movie will come on down the line. So I think that her comments are classy. I think her con I think she handled herself well I don't think it is wrong for I mean you can't expect her to go you know that's business that's the way it goes and you know sometimes it is it's like no it was bummed I signed this deal I was confused I didn't know how it was it wasn't handled great and
Starting point is 00:35:38 and I was bummed about it really love this and I thought I was going to play it for a while because when you sign on to that deal you don't know all the stuff that's happening the inner workings within Warner Brothers about how they want to change it up and bring it in James Gunn and said, look, it's the same question I asked Renzi Felice, right? I said, well, you nervous when they brought in James Gunn? Before he can finish the question, he said, yep, yes, I was. But they have, they had an Elseworld's thing, and they also had a pretty popular series. This is a movie that was part of the DCEU, plus wasn't popular. So the second that,
Starting point is 00:36:11 all of those movies were doomed the second they either lost money or broke even. They were doomed because there's no way to keep them on and no and no way for James Gunner wherever it is to say yeah we should bring them back and like it makes no sense to have her if you're not going to have Henry Cavill if you're not going to have um as for Miller if you're not going to have uh you know all these other save her bit from the DCU you're not going to have all of them it's too confusing and so but I thought her comments were super classy like the way she handled herself and stuff I feel you feel the same yeah she I'm I'm so impressed by that statement.
Starting point is 00:36:50 I think it would be an impossible and a not fair ass for her to not say anything and be like, that's the way it is. Because, yeah, the industry does often shift. Like you'll get, you know, you think you're making a movie and then they're just like we're not doing this. But I think that when you are promised in a way a character, that's one of the most iconic characters between her and Leslie Grace, it's like some of the worst stories I've heard in Hollywood of people. having this like promise of blowing up their career, you know, and really fulfilling what the coolest roles that you can possibly play as an actor, especially if you like action. So I would be eternally bummed. And I hope that they both get a lot of roles. I like that she, they have a friendship now. But I think that her words are like, she's really great. And I don't think it's one
Starting point is 00:37:41 of those things where someone said something and then people won't want to work with them because they were like a little too dramatic or emotional or like spoke out of place. I think that I can't imagine someone not understanding where she's coming from. Yeah. Brett, you don't understand where she's coming from. So why don't you talk about it? Well, no. I'm just, yeah, I'm just saying that you're bummed about something not happening is not,
Starting point is 00:38:07 you're not, you're not, I mean, it's the, it's the classy way. I mean, show some class. She shows some class. It is. No, Joe. Let me be clear. And by the way. Yeah. And by the way, folks.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Hey, is your shirt the lost numbers? Yeah, baby. Nice. That's right. Thank you. Thank you very little. You know that what's hilarious and I didn't even, I talked about how I ran into, speaking of lost Michael Emerson who played Ben on Lost. We had interviewed him and then I ran into him on the subway randomly. But what I didn't realize, at the time because it was
Starting point is 00:38:47 a little colder when I was wearing a sweatshirt but underneath it I had this on which I really wish I was like oh damn it that I would have shown him but I forgot anyway alright we have more stories and we're going to talk about this one
Starting point is 00:39:03 I didn't watch I guess I watched the first episode of the Jack Ryan Amazon series but I liked it and other people really like the series in general and having starred in the role for Four Seasons, John Grisensky will return as Jack Ryan for a feature film continuation at Amazon MGM Studios. In addition, Wendell Pierce is also set to return when Michael Kelly is in negotiations to come back to the project,
Starting point is 00:39:28 which is being produced in association with Paramount and Skydance. Andrew Bernstein, who served as an executive producer and director on season two will direct the feature, which has a script pen by the four-season writer and nobody to scribe Aaron Rabbit. Set in the Tom Clancy Ryanverse, the series ran from 2018. in 2020, 30 episodes, but didn't directly adapt any of the books. Rather, took inspiration from them to tell modern day stories. The series remains ranked upon Prime's top three most watched series globally. Krasinski, Alison Seeger, and Andrew Form will produce.
Starting point is 00:40:01 This is to me a no-brainer. It was a popular show. We haven't had a Jack Ryan movie in a while. If you're going to make another one, why not do one with the guy who played them successfully on a series for four seasons. So Brett, did you watch this show at all? You're going to be surprised by this, Christian, but no, I did not.
Starting point is 00:40:22 No, you did not. Steph, did you watch this one? No, I didn't check this one. Yeah. It is funny. It's not like, you're not on here, Steph. I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:40:30 But it's not a show that's like talked about as much as like some of these other shows, but it is popular, right? Right. But look, you can get Krasinski to do it. I still feel Amazon might overspend. I don't think they should overspend. but this is again a no-brainer to me yeah it seems like I would want to go see this I'm always down for like a new action movie franchise and I like John Cresensky so did you watch any of the
Starting point is 00:40:56 other ones though did you watch any of the Jack Ryan movies no oh you've never seen any of the Harrison Ford ones or no really I have it clear which is clear and present danger none of those you should watch those are really good yeah hunt for October no but I've I think is that right I thought in hunt for under October I feel like Alec Baldwin played um Jack Ryan I know that he played him at one point I really remember it was that movie someone can tell me yeah what's his is he does he not play by the rules what's this deal it's like he's he actually does play by the rules he's yeah he's he's uh and there's a there's a there's a great one where he he he's the harrison ford's version of him um he he he goes after the
Starting point is 00:41:41 president who was kind of dirty he's like how dare you address the president like that how dare you sir it's the best it's a great line how dare you sir in that gravelly harrison ford voice yeah um anyway so that's a lot of our stories today um so put your comments in there tell us what you think for people who are wondering about that marvel thing when we're going to cover that you know there's marvel had their tv shows and a lot of things that are coming out on disney plus and they showed some footage from like iron hard and other things we'll cover that tomorrow on capes and cows so we're going to get to some of these questions in just a bit but before we do it i wanted to tell you guys as step mentioned before tushy that's right tushy we love

All right, Steph, got news for you.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Yes. 25 right now. Okay. It means you're looking at around 90 that you'd need an additional 90 in order to beat Roka by the end. But also the other good news is that we're only about 45 minutes into the show, so you got an extra time. So let's see what you can do it. You had two back-to-back performances of over 100. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:44:26 We'll see. Here is the first question, and that first question is from Hank Pimp. Love Hank Pimp. Brett, very important question. Yeat or no yeat? And do you know what that means? there's yeat and then there's what's the opposite of a yeat no yeat no there's something there is an opposite of yeat but i know what yeat means what's it mean it means like to
Starting point is 00:44:54 eat throw it off something yeah that's right yeah so yeat or no you step so is that not what it means well i think yeah yeah that could be it it's also just like uh i think it's term of it's like an excited expression. Yeah, that's true. Somebody tell me in the chat, I'm not looking at, tell Christian. Eat, eat, eat, eat. But throw works, definitely.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Is it yoink? No. Yeah, yoink off in the bathroom. All right, here's the next one. So this one is from Ian Davis. Huge fan, you three of the best. I'm always curious what cars people drive and what they listen to on a commute. We'd love to get an answer from all three.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Right now, I'm leasing a Toyota Rav. It's nice. Nice. I like it. I wasn't expecting to like it, but I do. That is nice. But you guys.
Starting point is 00:45:50 I am driving a little Mercedes, but I do want to switch to electric. What I listen to on my drives is I always am either listening to a master class, just the audio, because you don't really need to see the video. or like music so I'll do right now glowrilla's new album and Meg the Stallion's act two album those are on my my listens okay do you want to go back in time when Meg the Stallion was on She-Hulk and I didn't even know who she was yeah that's crazy remember that like I thought that was a made-up person that's insane like you were just like oh they're just like so you probably hated that I hated it I didn't even know what I I thought it's such a random then cameo it makes no sense if it's not her no Brett what are you driving
Starting point is 00:46:44 I'm driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan otherwise known as the Millennium Falcon hell yeah for a lot and I usually listen I used to listen to music all the time but now I listen to the stern every day in my morning driving God he's getting some good interviews lately I think he's coming towards the end and people yeah just want to go this could be a last part of the run I um yeah music for me I like a few different playlists that I just go through um it was yesterday it was you know it's funny because my my oldest is uh it's into it has is an into nirvana so we've been listening to nirvana. Nice. Derek Johnson just some early support thank you,
Starting point is 00:47:30 Roman Fedora. Hey grateful to be here with you all wonderful people keep bringing being your awesome selves to which he follows? What are some scenes from films that never fail to make you laugh? For me, it's most of the series from Blazing Saddles and Zombie Land, my two favorite comedies.
Starting point is 00:47:46 Easily, for me, one of my favorite comedy performances is Lloyd Bridges in Hot Shots One. It has some of the best lines. I remember that I had seen it so many times, but Ellis, when we started doing
Starting point is 00:48:01 Shmo's together, and we, We're both just losing our minds on rewatching that movie. Have you ever seen that movie stuff? Hot shots? I don't think. Oh, no, yeah. I don't think so. I really, that's one that if you were, if I was in L.A., I would want you to do that reaction because it's so,
Starting point is 00:48:20 remember some of those lines from Lloyd Bridges? What I wouldn't be to be 30 years younger and a woman. It's so good. We'll tape his favorite shows. He won't miss anything. It's hilarious. there anyone that stands out to you stuff what shows make you loud movie movies probably just like megan mccarthy's entire arc in bridesmaids or when they
Starting point is 00:48:45 melissa mccarthy yeah i where they all get um that of like crazy diarrhea in the street that one and then austin powers he is like trying to reverse and does like in 20 point turn that to me is just classic yeah Brett you got one um god I would say TV shows movies movie scenes oh you said TV also I know but I movies god I don't so many Monty Python right yeah anything Python Royal Tannenbaum still yeah yeah more than anything we you and I quote that we quote that one line all the time which is your mother was a terribly attractive The dad is the best.
Starting point is 00:49:35 Gene Hackman's fact that he didn't get nominated. What's that? Crazy. Criminal. If he's sick in the family, we're always like, are they a fighter? So good. EWalk, in honor of the upcoming John Williams documentary, ranked these scores, Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones, E.T, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Scores are themes. We're talking about different things here. If it's just the main themes, that's what I'm assuming you're talking about. I'm going to go to the main themes. I would start with Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones, Jaws, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and ET. Because I think themes, scores, the entire scores are harder to do. Yeah. All of them, Steph?
Starting point is 00:50:32 couldn't without looking at it's i know i know i know i'm trying to think jaws star war superman indiana jones et Jurassic Park and harry potter okay i'm gonna try but that's a lot okay so i star wars yep and i think harry potter okay and then Superman yeah then Indiana Jones okay And then Jurassic, well, then Jaws, then Jurassic Park. Right. What am I missing? E.T. Last.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I had that last time. It's a great score. I don't remember E.T.'s a great score. That's that's, that's, uh, yeah. It's, you can't, if you can't remember it right at the top of your head, it doesn't it's right. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I'm just going to give top two. No, no, no, no, no. And, um, and, um, and what's me, who's the, uh, Indiana Jones. I think Indiana Jones. I think Indiana Jones is the top because that's the one immediately that came to my head among all those. It's good. It's good. Yep.
Starting point is 00:51:34 All right. Let's see. Next one here and Derek Johnson, darn it some more. And then Mike Joyce. Hey, Brett. Hey. You're going to be Dorena's guest on her grunge episode of DJ Bruja radio. I didn't peg you for a grunge fan.
Starting point is 00:51:49 No spoilers, but any recommendations. Any, you didn't take me as a grunge fan. That was like when I was in. college in high school. Yeah. That's funny. Yeah, I'm old. It's because you're a dad now, man. Yeah, I, I, um, yes, I don't have any recommendations. I'm killing myself trying to come up with my two songs to recommend because there's just so much that I loved back then. But, uh, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. You stay tuned. When's that on? You don't know yet?
Starting point is 00:52:23 Oh, okay. Um, so Pete Parker. Oh, Brett's going to love this one. Pete Park. 2288 the real horror right now is brett's camera and lighting but i think that's before well i think it's before you fixed it yeah yeah i hope so uh mike joyce also Courtney love did it right what's that mean can we get that i don't know not sure i don't know what that meant um all right next one following up here we got mike joyce again step had a great uh oh step had a great fran from the nanny costume surprised she's a fan of it what is the oldest or most niche show you consider yourself a fan up well brett's definitely a mash fan he brought it up with somebody last week you had to be yeah um an old school i would say because
Starting point is 00:53:10 i remember nicolodean would show like really like the fit the shows from the 50s so there's got to be some shows from the 50s even like taxi is something like they used to show a lot too so like any one of those we kind of went because i was i would say that that was the beauty of cable right as opposed to like streaming. Streaming, there's so much that you can watch in whatever you want to watch now. If you wanted to go and find some of the older shows, you can, but because there's so many other things,
Starting point is 00:53:39 it doesn't just like pop on your radar. You know, it's just like you're looking for things now. Back in the day, you would just like, you'd be browsing for things, and nothing would be on him, like, oh, what's the honeymooners? I didn't have my dad talk about this. I'll watch the honeymooners and nothing else on. And that doesn't really happen as much anymore.
Starting point is 00:53:56 But not at all. Not at all. So, Brett, it is, you say match, but I guess Steph is the only one that this is relevant to because are there any old school shows that you watch or, you know, you know what show I feel like you would love because of your comedy obsession. What? Three's Company. I haven't seen that. You would love Three's Company. You're a monagamam out. Okay. Watch some old episodes. John Ritter was a damn genius. comedic genius and like
Starting point is 00:54:26 Greece company okay it's so up your alley and do you know the premise of the show no not at all it just shows you this is the this is the 70s just a very different time and so
Starting point is 00:54:39 jack tripper is looking for a place to live so he winds up answering an ad from these two women Joyce Dewitt and Suzanne Summers and Suzanne's like Summers like the hot blonde and you know then you you had the brunette for for joy to wait but they Janet right janet and chrissey so they had to
Starting point is 00:55:01 but the thing was the landlord was not going to let a guy live with two women so he so he pretends that he's gay oh my god and like so many different things kind of happen throughout it but it like it's it is it is it's still one of the best comedies of all uh of all time eight seasons damn oh yeah oh yeah it was it was a it was a huge it was a huge huge hit massive it turned John Ritter into a superstar yeah yeah so I would watch the first season and some of the stuff physically that he does is you'll you it's right up your alley it's right up your alley okay okay Armada love the musical but can't see Ariana as the lead for this yeah I mean you know we got it we got to see the performance I guess you know yeah because I mean she's she's
Starting point is 00:55:48 she started out as a actress primarily and I think I think she always does as well on S&L because of her like comedy, yeah, television roots and things like that. I think she's perfect for her. We'll see. I also feel like she's like getting in her Austin Butler era where like she is not, she is in full transatlantic accent. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Not getting turned off. Um, go pie. Sam Neharen said, I got my Amex statement yesterday and I thought I'd gone super overboard on the super chats, but it turns out I bought a computer a couple of weeks ago so here's my support thank you so much very nice awesome thank you Pete Parker 2288 I have a lot of faith in John M. Chu after crazy rich Asians and in the heights adina Mansell is such a tough act to follow though Adele Dizim you guys remember that yeah that's hysterical that was yeah that was and now the wickedly
Starting point is 00:56:46 talented Adele Azim he gave it a shot he gave it a shot The wickedly talented. Adela Mazina. It's so good. Mad Sinister McCall. Harliff, I want to let you know how much I appreciate you. Thank you, man. Sick of the two-party piss contest.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Your channel is the ultimate escape and embrace of pop culture. I mean, that's what we strive for. I appreciate it. Yeah, I don't really like to get, I think that's the whole problem with society right now is that it's my team versus your team. And I don't think that people can actually have real conversations
Starting point is 00:57:21 about screaming at each other, at least on Twitter. I think in person it's a lot easier to do so I appreciate that very much. Derek Johnson, what's your go-to move during cuddle season to get your partner to give you some cuddles and attention? Now, well, you're talking to two married guys
Starting point is 00:57:37 on the right? And pleading. Right. Or just going in for a hug and hoping I don't get a knot now. But Steph doesn't have to make a move. She just goes, give me a hug. Yeah, I was like, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:57:51 can I have more attention? Yeah. Or can I sit on your lap? Like, I'm like very initiative. You ask? You're married. You don't have to ask. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:58:04 It's a joke, but it's like, I'm coming in. But he's very good. I need so much attention. I never, ever did. But when it's like your person, I'm like, I can't get enough. It's the same. Yeah. As you understand that we become dogs in the same way.
Starting point is 00:58:23 Yeah. It's 100%. God, you forehead. Yeah. Mad Sinister Macal. Brett, the best wingman and painter. My favorite guest. There you go, Brett.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Mad citizen is coming in hot. 36 questions thus far. Okay. Let's go. Yeah. Day napper. Rank these great feelings. A haircut.
Starting point is 00:58:46 A no holdback sneeze. Ear cleaning. Getting home in time for a bathroom release. I'm going to go with the last. one yeah yeah great release make my plus drive sometimes coming you're making it yeah it feels like it feels like you've accomplished something yeah haircuts not even on the radar for me like i've never i don't know if it's different for guys but i anytime i get a haircut i don't like it every time feel good oh wow that's unless i like actually am so fiercely like
Starting point is 00:59:20 do not cut more than half an inch because it and then they'll be like are you sure you need it i'm like i know i'm probably need it but i will not like you if i leave here and you have more than an inch off my hair yeah i cut my hair and trim my beard solely for my wife right i would just be a mess yeah no i know well the so flirt and flouse can can handle can test for that chillmonger agatha hinges on an audience caring and being invested in billy and tommy which i don't at all i don't care for jo lock as an actor either series was trash. Hey, look, that's his opinion. Yeah. For sure.
Starting point is 00:59:56 And I think you're, oh, it didn't even highlight it, but there you go. Because I don't think he was disrespectful to anyone else who did. No, no. And he's not wrong that if you're not invested in Billy and Tommy and you don't care, that's a big problem. I wasn't. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:00:14 you weren't invested in it. No, I wasn't. I don't. I like didn't understand, but then I loved the way that they tied it in. So it worked for me. But you like Joe Locke, though. But I like, yes, yes, I do. Joe, I think I find Joe Locke to be a good actor personally. But if you don't, you're not going to like the series.
Starting point is 01:00:34 Right. Yeah. He's the main character. Pete Parker, I hope Winston opens tomorrow's show laughing at Cage. Well, he won't be on the show very long if that happens. So you don't want that. Top Dog, R-I-G. Here's the deal.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Here's the deal. Stefan Brett are the best. I'm being serious right now. No joke. Let me be clear. Anyway, guess what? And by the way, I love when he gets, I love when he does the thing where he goes, he just looks up in here.
Starting point is 01:01:04 My wife tries not to laugh because she feels bad because, you know, how old Biden is, you know, and she just doesn't like to laugh at old people, but she can't help it because she loves Dana Carvey so much every time. And by the way, and here's the deal. It's so good. I know it hurts me too. But it's hilarious. but it is so good
Starting point is 01:01:24 the cadence. Yeah, and by the way, and here's a deal. Derek Johnson. I have concerns with the DCU, but I legitimately have real issues with how the transition from the DCU to DCU actors was handled by executives at WB.
Starting point is 01:01:40 It could have been handled a lot better. So I agree that the hire... Saffron and Gunn have nothing to do with that. That's like when they get hired, they're like, okay, know do what you want to do and like well this is our thing this is what we're going to do they they're
Starting point is 01:01:55 they're not responsible for it i think zazloff is absolutely responsible to how it's handled and basically you can see just treats the actors and everybody else and directors as inventory yeah yeah i i i completely agree like i think that when i'm considering the situation and no part in my like gun and saffron really screwed everyone over it was like they were just doing their job i do think think it was the way that it was transition that was really wild. Yeah, terrible. Brett Yep, I hate it.
Starting point is 01:02:31 I hate everything about it. Good. GoPy comes back in and says, it seems like Michael Shannon is everything these days. He's in everything these days. Penguin, Michael Shannon was in Penguin. Yeah, what?
Starting point is 01:02:47 When was Michael Shannon in Penguin? Lioness. Jack Ryan probably more that aren't coming to mine right now. I didn't, I don't remember what, where was Michael Shannon in, uh, in, that's how he is. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I missed that if he was in there. Was he in it?
Starting point is 01:03:05 Maybe he was in the first episode or something? I don't know. I don't remember. I don't remember him being in that show. Um, but the other ones I don't really remember that well. And I don't, I've never seen Lion as. I only saw one episode of Jack Ryan. So, um, but he is great.
Starting point is 01:03:19 So Mike Joyce, Harrison Ford's line delivery in. shrinking is the best. It is the best. And I've only seen, do you watch, I forget, Steph, I asked you this already, you watch shrinking, right? Yeah, yeah. Okay, in season two, have you been watching it so far? I'm not caught up. Me either. So I'm looking
Starting point is 01:03:36 forward to catching up because I absolutely love that show. Brett, do you watch, you watch it too? Are you caught up? I don't, when do they come out? Probably not. They're already out. Oh, it's the full. Oh, yeah. I don't know what day of the week it comes out.
Starting point is 01:03:52 shot up at some point last week, but I'm guessing, you know, yeah, but I love that show. So good. GoPai comes back and says, here's a classic. Hey, it's that guy from TWOP. If anyone follows television without pity back in the day. I don't know that one. Television without pity, I'm not sure. But yeah, hey, it's that guy. So, Sahita K. Hey, Steph, just adding to help you beat Roka. Nice. I watched your stuff on Sinaijump, not to put you on the show. spot what Indian films would you recommend for the guys here? Um, there the first one that comes to mind. I think it's called Dong,
Starting point is 01:04:35 Dongol. It's really good. It's like a, it's a sports movie and it's one of my favorite sports movies of all time. I think it's one of the highest grossing films of all time. Really? It is so good. Yeah, it's like a, um, soccer, their daughter, no wrestling. Oh, really? Like what, but like like, but like, but like, like, like collegian wrestling um yeah i think olympic wrestling and it's based on a true story of a dad who coached his daughters and it was super taboo at the time and he had to like really work for them to get into the ring with with the guys and they would like beat ass it was amazing okay that's a good one uh and go up i then follows up and says michael kelly not shannon
Starting point is 01:05:18 i've been corrected michael kelly which one's michael michael michael kelly and still drawn a blank yeah okay let me see oh michael kelly from house of cards oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he's great yeah he's great he playing he played with the name of the character in penguin but he is great he is popping up in a lot of stuff that makes a lot more sense because i did see him in that trailer for the lioness too yeah um joey peddress favorite richard prior performance or bits um it's so hard for me to not pick the toy because of my childhood i absolutely love that movie and love his performance you know what clip has been making the rounds recently that you remember in living color yeah um so damon wanes did a commercial a spoof commercial richard prior scared and everything because he's a oh oh he does this thing he's like he's pouring
Starting point is 01:06:10 cereal running it's really funny but i would say uh i would say the toy what about you brett that's yeah i'm i'm right there with you with that that was amazing and what a way to take something that is like very questionable at the beginning oh yeah make it so heartfelt i mean that one made me cry so much that and laugh it's a great all around takes you through all of the have you ever seen that one stuff the toy uh no i i i haven't seen that one have you heard of it yeah i've seen i i well because i was later introduced to a prior because like he's just ahead of my time a little bit but when I watched see no evil here no evil I was like it's a good one too it's the one where he's like I'm black it's like in the middle
Starting point is 01:07:02 it's like so good yeah he's stir crazy yeah yeah uh Pete Parker 2288 what was really going on behind the scenes during the infamous Jane Fonda Schmowdown moment You said you hated every moment of it. Yeah, it was because there was, so for people who don't know this, showing out, there was a moment where John Roka had wrote, scribbled. He knew Jane Fonda, he answered it and scribbled and wrote Jane Fonda. And he turns around, he goes, well is Jane Fonda, right? And the rule is you had to write it down legibly and say it at the same time.
Starting point is 01:07:43 So he was playing against the Patriots. It was Jeff Snyder and JTE. And it was a title match. So they were like, no, no, no, no, no. And there was a big controversy with that. And that was a whole big thing. And then it was on the spot. We're shooting.
Starting point is 01:07:59 And I'm like, and we were like, well, what do we do next? We made the wrong call, the wrong call and had, because to reset it, we had this Patriot spin again. And then they hit a topic that helped them out. Roka flipped out behind the scenes. this whole thing and it was it was it was it was it was terrible that's not like one of the worst ones one of the worst ones was uh was in drako and and roca when all that stuff went down with that what what it was was it was it i can't remember what it was but there was some controversy with
Starting point is 01:08:28 that and drako was all pissed off i the amount of people like pissed off of that game it's one of the reasons that if it wasn't if i'm making a million dollars on that show is not worth doing it i was talking to ben i was talking about ben bateman last night that you called me up and he had had a great meeting with uh someone had turned out that you know that you know know they were fans of the schmodeau and the person was hoping that the shmone would come back and i was like it's just first of all there's so many different things that would have to happen and in order to do that with the resources that we didn't have any really resources then but we had enough tools with what we had to make it work now i don't even have any of those because we're not
Starting point is 01:09:07 all together doing stuff and i it would like mark cuban would have to dump like five million dollars and go here you go run this for a year here's five million dollars go take it see what you can do with it and then then it would be worth it um but no thank you um go pie people don't talk about bleach enough it's great the nirvana album oh yeah yeah i was actually considering one of the songs off a bleach for but i don't know it's great tom hanks watched trap last night it's one of the worst movies i've seen in a while everyone made such idiotic choices not sure supposed to be bad on purpose it's funny because i was just talking to wicked art we you know we do so for people don't know for members on this channel and for patrons we do a thing that you guys really should
Starting point is 01:09:52 uh take advantage of where we do it's called the bar and we send out this link and at the certain tier you come in and you do a video call with me and whoever else you know patrons and members and we talk for about an hour and yesterday we were talking to wicked art said he saw he's like yeah there's a lot some stupid choices that were made but he was entertained by it there are some really idiotic things that happen in that movie like idiotic it's bad did you see you guys see that one yeah no because i'm hearing yeah kind of this so some dopey stuff has some dopey stuff going on um and this one is from jesus cm i didn't love the ag of the finale in the words of the great harlough minor it landed like a wet fart oh yeah i haven't i did i haven't heard bad things about it yet except this is the
Starting point is 01:10:37 first one in um if you know jesus says it then it's probably right yeah right I don't know. Cooley, hi. What's up? Hey. Hey, fam. Just recently watched Homeward Bound with the fan. Have you ever heard of the theory that the older dog in the movie didn't make it home in the movie?
Starting point is 01:10:52 Anyway, love and light to all you. Be easy. I never even knew there were fan theories about that movie. So no, I'm not sure. But that's one that people really dig also. No? Anybody else have that theory? No, I haven't seen that.
Starting point is 01:11:06 I don't remember the movie at all, but that's amazing that there's an entire part of the portion. of this website and coolly high follows with brett you're super funny i need you in movies oh thank you i agree i agree too i do need that as well you do need that too uh zbi and brett that's going to be for me and you because it's just going to go over step's head uh the ropers or mr feely mr furley uh oh mr furley uh oh geez i think furley gives the more comedic moments early yeah i mean i'm a donnots guy too Furley had some really silly moments. Roper was great, but he was more of that like Archie Bunker thing.
Starting point is 01:11:47 Yeah. And Furley was more... The hatred kind of... Yeah, well, he was definitely... It was more like an anger thing. And even though he talked to his wife and everything too, but like Furley was just like the lovable kind of idiot in his faces he would make.
Starting point is 01:12:00 And yeah. And I will bet money that if Steph actually watches the show, Furley will be... She'll like Furley better. Okay. Yeah. Cooley High. Steph and Christian,
Starting point is 01:12:12 both your Alien Romulus watches were great. My wife and I laughed our asses off watching it. Steph, I can't wait until you get to Fast X. Yeah, it was, that was a big controversy on my channel was that we were cracking jokes during it.
Starting point is 01:12:24 And I'm crazy. I'm going to shit. Oh, I love that movie. Yeah, I'm going to shit. We're at four. Christian, stand your ground. I am.
Starting point is 01:12:35 We're at 49. I mean, you're about like this close. You're a little, Yeah. Look, he's still got a shot. You got a shot to hit 50. Derek Johnson, what old TV show would you like to remake?
Starting point is 01:12:49 Would you like want remade? I'd love for a remake of Taxi. Old, I mean, I don't know. It depends on how. Taxi but Uber. I was going to say, I was going to say that it was, maybe you really can't do that, but then I, Battlestar Galactica. Did you ever watch that pilot stuff?
Starting point is 01:13:10 No, I need to. You're full of shit now. I know. I'm sorry. Come on. You got to watch that. I'll watch it this week. Okay, by next week, I will have watched Battle Star Galactica pilot.
Starting point is 01:13:21 You promise? Yeah, I promise. All right. I'm going to hold you to that. Pete Parker 2288. He's putting me on the spot here, and I don't like this question. Julia Roberts or Andrea Arjona, don't lie. When are we talking?
Starting point is 01:13:37 Are we talking about right? Adrian and is the one from, from, uh, Morbius and the freaking hitman and and or an absolute smoke show is the follow-up is what it is Are we talking about today we're talking about like today then it's a Jada a zona all-time Julia Robert They're so different so different but you know they're like both just absolutely stunning I don't know yeah Sehita K Dangal is great.
Starting point is 01:14:10 Mine is Salar, Total Dudes film. I don't know. I don't know this, but that's a good one. Yeah. Dom rambles. Hey, Steph, you're my favorite reactor, and I love your analysis of the films that you watch. What techniques have you all used to get better
Starting point is 01:14:28 with talking about films on YouTube? Well, Brett, go ahead. Let me start on this. Go ahead. Yeah, yeah, take it away. Please. You have to get into the mind of the filmmaker and the you know and you have to watch everything i mean even like if you don't feel
Starting point is 01:14:47 like it you don't have the time you've got to watch everything and uh you just you know but a lot of it for me is just instinct keep going um yeah so when i started this um in 2015 i believe i was one of the top uh movie review uh panelists on the hit show, the Shmo's No Show, and dearly loved by all the fans, never once had a bad comment about not knowing anything about film. And what do you think about that, Big Balls? Well, I just looking. He caught me. I'm just looking. Yep, I understand why you're married. Oh, geez. Wow. You got a compliment. Wow, he's doing it.
Starting point is 01:15:40 Okay. So there you go. I think as far as me is just, what I noticed, even getting back doing stand-up after I hadn't done it so long, I realized that it was this helped me out do that. You're talking to people, you're understanding, you know, how to analyze stuff, talk. It's a back and forth, like in a conversation. So it's just paying attention and listening. It's always, and that it comes to most with interviews.
Starting point is 01:16:06 It's always listening. I always couldn't stand interviews when I'm watching them and you see the interview talking to the person and before they're even done answering there you can see the interviewer rattling off in her head their next question and there's that stupid answer of oh yes interesting interesting definitely definitely it's like you don't have no fucking clue what that person just said to you yeah I hate it and so that's what I always try to make sure I'm always listening what I like about Christians interviews is he doesn't ask like well it's your process and shit like that right god i hate that question because it's such an actory snooty bullshit that nobody cares about nobody cares about their process well what i do is i you know harness the energy and they don't like talking about that shit either like it's like i'm telling you i was talking i was talking to yeah i mean it depends i was talking to when i was talking to renzi is like we you could tell he was excited just to be in this show so you i was trying to to approach it to like if anybody was in this show like what it was like and if he said something
Starting point is 01:17:11 about Colin Farrell be like oh it's got to be crazy kind of working with them in general about that but then we started talking about baseball and moving across the country and all that kind of stuff and it's just like to me i think that more people would rather hear someone in a long-form conversation just have a conversation like they would at you know a coffee shop so um all right page shodry christian step and brett is better than peanut butter and jelly what is your favorite sandwich. I'm glad that you asked me this question because I, Steph, you know that I've told you about that deli that's right near me. Yes, yes. And Brett, I'm so sorry that I didn't discover this deli when you were here because it's phenomenal. And I'm probably either going to, I would
Starting point is 01:17:50 most likely either get a chicken cutlet sandwich, but I most likely will get my go-to on a big piece of like Italian bread. I would probably get the honey smoked turkey with some lettuce and pickles and jalapinos and lettuce and tomatoes. I love it already. But what about you stuff? I love sandwiches. Yeah. I, it's like my, it's a top food for me. So I just love anything like on a baguette, Dutch crunch.
Starting point is 01:18:20 You throw avocado chicken and like I like a ton of sauce, like honey mustard, oscarmic, all of that. Sounds good. Brett, what's your problem? I've got a recommendation for people out there that are close to a Trader Joe's Trader Joe's brioche. PBJs are my new go-to. My daughter loves them.
Starting point is 01:18:40 And I made one for her. I was like, we ran out of regular bread and she likes to just eat it on its own. And it is bomb.com, as the kids used to say. And I'm a big fan of BLTs. I never was in my younger days, but a nice heirloom tomato. Yeah. It may add a little fresh mootzo on there just to make it a little bit of little. hell yeah
Starting point is 01:19:05 you don't do that top talk and step you guys are hit 58 you might get the 60s what is a movie or movies that you three were genuinely terrified by I mean in that feel shaky after you're watching it type of way not jump scary nonsense Blair which project stayed with me for days
Starting point is 01:19:25 after watching it I'll tell you what movie I sat in the theater and didn't move until the credits were over because I was so creeped out by it was the first strangers. Oh, God. That movie, because you know what it was? I had actually seen that movie, like, or clips of it, not the whole thing. When I was at Silver, they brought, like, it hadn't come out yet, and Naveed got a copy
Starting point is 01:19:49 of it, and they actually showed their faces in the movie, in the actual cup, but then they decided it would be creepier if you never saw it, and I couldn't agree more. It was terrifying. That movie at the end of it, that was a movie I was really creeped out behind. What about you, Steph? Probably the ring. I remember the ring being like the first very, very haunting movie for me where I thought that it was going to happen. Like something like a woman was going to pop out of my TV screen.
Starting point is 01:20:21 Brett? Yeah, I don't know because I feel like we watched so many campy ones. But I agree with you with the strangers because that one was you could believe that would actually happen. And that's the scariest stuff for me is when it's based, when you think it might be based on a real story, but you don't know. And, yeah, but I mean, my friends and I used to rent all the, you know, just like when Toxic Avenger came out and all the goofy. Yeah, it was creepy. That one did, though, disgust me so much because of the teenagers driving in the car and running over a kid's head. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:01 It was bad. their acting was really bad but it was also kind of disturbing yeah because you bought into that stuff back then for sure yeah Derek Johnson my grant oh wait I missed I missed one I missed one before Derek I missed one um that is shell shock 77 7 7 7 7 7 yesterday was my 20 year anniversary in the country congratulations that's awesome and 10 years ago I discovered the schmows no through screen junkies even more awesome thank you had it happy anniversary christian thank you regards to mark Ellis yeah Ellis and I text all the time. We were going back and forth on some of the stuff happening in the world
Starting point is 01:21:38 and also with baseball. So he's doing well. Derek Johnson, my grandma loves old movies. A comedian that she loved and introduced me to is Danny Kay. And honestly, he's a true comedic talent. Yeah, he was pretty good. Who was your first comedian that made you love comedies? If it's comedies in general, if it's movies, you know, we were just talking about it.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Richard Pryor is probably one of the first. the first up there at that time. But if we're talking about comedians, and it's definitely George Carlin, but if we're talking about comedies, it might be Richard Pryor, because I remember why, like the toy I was super young when I saw that movie.
Starting point is 01:22:16 Probably shouldn't have. Now, it was a lot inappropriate shit in that movie, but it was a different time in the 80s. So I'd probably say Richard Pryor. Yeah, because there was like Brewster's Millions. Yeah. Gene Wilder would be up there too. Wilder oh Chevy Chase
Starting point is 01:22:33 Chevy Chase Chevy Chase also oh yeah yeah yeah probably for me Gene Wilder or maybe
Starting point is 01:22:42 Eddie Murphy I was like a lot of his movies when I was a kid because he did like Nutty Professor when I was like super young
Starting point is 01:22:53 right right right right so that that was you were four years old when Eddie Murphy's Nuddy Professor came out or younger perfect is that true yeah I hate that I hate that so much
Starting point is 01:23:04 so bad is that true yeah guys hold on a second you're full of shit wait a bill Murray what year were you born 93 holy shit that's true
Starting point is 01:23:19 yeah well I hate that so much you were three so stupid don't don't I graduated high school in 92 I was 93 damn yeah I was 17 when I graduated high school guys how about that how you like that boom whatever that boo houser that's right um next one is from bam 86 who says have you heard the fan theory that ferris bueller was Cameron's imaginary friend the whole time makes for interesting we watch yeah sure i mean but then the imaginary friend has scenes
Starting point is 01:23:52 by himself without Cameron anywhere near with his family yeah it's definitely not yeah but it's fun theory but it's like it's a way it is yeah what this is I when you do any screenwriting study they like have you read the screen this script because it's different than most where it's like he's not really solving his own problem he's solving his friends problem so he's real so here's the deal uh here's deal ohla hello there Mexican or Italian food I love Mexican food but it's Italian food Love Mexican food. That's so hard.
Starting point is 01:24:32 It's also a lot harder here. I can tell you this. You forget because you know, you just associate the, yeah, of course, there's a lot of Italian places in New York, right? I'm not kidding you. I dropped my kid off to, she's taking Taekwondo right now, right? Amazing. Yeah. So we counted from a six minute, not all the way home, but just six minutes.
Starting point is 01:24:58 from, basically from my office to her Taekwendo, we counted eight Italian places in a six minute drive. On one side of the street, that's not that's not including East and West. That's crazy. Yeah, there's some really, Brett, remember that place that when you were here, we got that takeout from the, from that
Starting point is 01:25:18 ready to give the family style. Oh yeah. How good was that place? So I'm going to Italian. What about you guys? Steph. Go on stuff. I'm saying Italian because I don't for some reason it's better on my tummy it's hard it's it's hard to say when you're in LA the two because Mexican food is way better way better in LA than here and I and I'm from San Diego so you know a lot of stuff our food yeah yeah it's
Starting point is 01:25:44 I mean Steph I'll throw one out you're Mexican Italian food or sushi oh my gosh yeah and this is like the my favorite or the one I could eat the most favorite sushi sushi yeah it's damn good I finally found a place out here that I like
Starting point is 01:26:03 Pete Parker 2288 Idris Alba just writes oh Idris Alba yeah that was a good one too yeah it was another one that was that was that was that's not what it was but there was an interest Alba that
Starting point is 01:26:16 I don't remember if that was the one Sahita K Am I the only one who thinks that Robert Zemeckis here looks all gimmick and no substance it's a shame bringing back the as far as Gump team to sell a concept. I can understand the argument, for sure.
Starting point is 01:26:32 I haven't seen the movie, so I can't really say whether or not it's, you have that kind of talent. I give them the benefit of the doubt, but I understand the argument, for sure. It was interesting. I saw a guy talking about all the reviews of this film, I think, or no, maybe it was something else, was it, but Bibbs was one of them that the guy said, and this reviewer from whatever said this. And I don't know. That's just my weird, oh, I know that guy.
Starting point is 01:27:01 But people are not liking it. No, that's too bad. All right. Some more support from Derek. You guys are at 62, Steph. Okay. You can hit 50 in the next. Inchy.
Starting point is 01:27:13 I don't know. Maybe. I don't know. Roka's got a good shot so far. But again, you guys are making a nice comeback. Clay Titus. Hey, if you cut a pineapple into rings, you can put them on your dingling.
Starting point is 01:27:28 Oh, nice. Did you know that? Nice. Nice. Did I know that? I know. Let's see. I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 01:27:36 I'm just saying, I knew that. You'd have to cut that core out a little bit more. You're crazy. What do you say? You said, cut the core out. You know, I put one on a rhinoceros's butthole once. You know that, Brett?
Starting point is 01:27:53 Look at me. Look at me in my face when I talk to you. Can you look at me, please? No, you'll go the other way. There you go. Hi. Yes, perfect. Have a conversation with me now that we can see eye to eye.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Yeah. Stints. Stints. I'm going to yeak you out of here. He's gone. All right. Let's see. I like putting him on there because I know it annoys people.
Starting point is 01:28:17 Let's see. Spencer Drake. What are some upcoming movie reactions? Love them. So if you're talking about me, I got. Sam coming in here tomorrow we're going to finally do
Starting point is 01:28:29 Warrior but I'm going to try to put I was trying to do two a week but it's just been so hard with scheduling so I think I'm going to wind up doing one a week and I think Sam's going to start doing the MCU with me because she's never seen any of them so we're going to wind up doing those for sure damn that'll be so fun yeah she's never seen any of them so it'll be
Starting point is 01:28:49 it'll be pretty good the Dart double 05 and if you eat the pineapple your lady will thank you all right there you go i think it's been proven wrong but getting into it uh go pie hey step do you not find that all the contents of the sandwich fall out when you try to bite through the baguette that's my biggest sandwich pet peeve you don't have a good baguette then maybe not yeah and like try smashing it a little before you go into the bite yeah because you don't want the avocale you want the avocado smashed in you don't want avocado pieces like that
Starting point is 01:29:24 That's where people go wrong. Yeah. You are right. That is a key to avocado sandwich. Key. Yeah. This is a tough one. Dom Rambles.
Starting point is 01:29:33 Happy Halloween. Alien. Aliens or Romulus. My pick is alien. I don't think it's fair to Romulus. I would tell you that I think Romulus is the third best movie, and that is a compliment. Because there's been so many shit ones. So I would actually go aliens, alien, Romulus.
Starting point is 01:29:53 but for horror fans, I completely understand if they chose alien aliens and then Romulus. But, right, you haven't seen Romulus yet, right? No. So, Steph, you have seen all three of those. Where would you go? Yes. I think, I don't know. I definitely put Romulus third, but I think it's such a great addition to the franchise.
Starting point is 01:30:13 Yeah. The first two are just, just unbelievable. There's some of my favorite movies ever. So I don't know. I go back and forth, but maybe aliens than aliens. Okay. well look good news bad news good news that we reach 63 and that's pretty good bad news is the show's over what okay and i'm sorry but you guys did a great job and you got another one actually 64
Starting point is 01:30:36 mike joyce the substance is on movie right now reaction soon i haven't watched it so maybe i can i don't know who i'll watch that one with because i know there's kind of like a horror element to it i don't know if sadie would be able to handle it but um but maybe maybe you'd check that out I do want to see that one. So it's a possibility, the substance, for sure. I hear great things. And that's it. So, thank you for joining us here, too.
Starting point is 01:31:00 Steph, where can you find you? At Steph's a bra on the world, girls. And what kind of plug you got going on today?
