Progressive is America's number one motorcycle insurer, so we understand motorcycles.
No, really, we have a bike translator.
Okay, so this bike says she is struggling with her place in the motorcycle community.
Well, she says she hasn't peaked yet, but she's having a little epiphany, okay?
Oh, that maybe life itself is the peak.
Interesting. In my experience, I found out.
So I just translate. Not allowed to have opinions. Got it.
Quote with Progressive and see if you could save with America's number one motorcycle insurer.
Progressive Casualty Insurance Company and Affiliator.
What's going on, everybody? Happy Thursday. What a show. It's going to be today. We have a lot to talk about it. You saw inside of that thumbnail instead of the title. Avatar, 2, Avatar, the Way of Water. It's coming out this weekend. The reviews are pretty great. The hype is real. It is targeted to make a lot of money. So the question is, well, the first is it going to break even and hit like $7,800 million, whatever it needs to make to break even? That's part one.
Part two is it's going to make a profit.
If it makes a profit, how much?
And then part three, as you saw, will it become the most profitable movie of all time?
Does it have a shot to do so?
I will be talking about that with Roxy Shrier and Brett Sheridan.
Speaking of Roxy Shreier, as she does every Thursday, we'll have Roxy's picks on the TV stuff.
I watch some of them.
I watched some stuff.
As you guys saw, I did the Severance thing.
We'll talk a little bit about severance.
I watched something else, and I watched something else, and we'll talk about that.
And there were other stories.
Patty Jenkins has now posted.
something about the reports that it was her.
It was her. It was all her fault.
It was the reason why she walked away from both Star Wars and D.C.
It was her fault.
And she refuted those things.
She talked about that on Twitter.
So we'll talk about that.
There's some other things.
There's other stories that we've got out there.
There's scream.
There's that trailer.
But that's it.
There's some other things to talk about before we get into it.
Everybody, make sure, if you haven't already, get yourself one of these shirts, man.
You got the, you got the merchandise.
She got Sith counsel, show some class, the top gun guy, big thing, capes and counsel,
flirt and flusces.
There's three other shirts up there, too.
There's S-E-N.
There's farts of my brand.
That's a good one for your dad or your brother or whoever.
Hell, your sister likes to rip them.
Give her one, too.
So that's up there.
We're excited about that.
If you haven't already joined the podcast, Apple Podcast, Spotify, anywhere podcasts are found.
Speaking of Avatar, we just did our Avatar rewatch, myself, Winston and Coy.
That's exclusive.
So head on over there, Patreon.com slash the Big Thing show.
You get an exclusive S-E-N live episode.
You get an exclusive Brett and Kate, two Brett and Cates.
And there's Q&A's, there's one-on-one sessions,
there's trivia shows.
There's a lot of different things over there.
So we hope that you join and support over there if you have the means to do so.
All right, let's get into it.
It's myself.
It's Roxy.
It's Brett.
It's doing time.
Doing time?
It's doing time.
Let's do it.
What's going on, everybody?
How are you?
Nice to do it.
talk to you. Nice to see. Nice to
fratinize.
I will say
it sucks, but we should probably talk about this
up top. First of all, hello, Roxy.
Hello. Hello. Hello.
Right before we went on the air, as we
record this on Wednesdays, which is the best for our
schedule, obviously. And there's a lot of topics that are
relevant afterwards. I saw something this morning that I was
just prepping the show.
I just said something about Ellen DeGeneres, someone Ellen DeGeneres had passed away.
And Roxy came right before we started shooting.
She goes, hey, do you hear about Twitch.
And so for those you don't know, Twitch was a dancer.
My wife watches So You Think You Can Dance.
She's been watching it for years, years.
And so I actually really like that show.
And anybody who's, well, you watch, so you think you can dance?
Yeah, there's a lot of talent involved in that show, like a lot.
And he is an awesome, awesome dude.
and then it turned out this morning or Wednesday that he has passed away.
40 years old.
Yeah.
So I met him with Mark at the, I don't figure which Transformers it was,
but he was at the Paramount Lot.
I just had like a pretty long conversation with him,
just told him how much of a fan.
My wife was at the show and I was too.
And he's just a very encouraging good dude.
So what I will say is this.
I posted a video on all my social.
media platforms, yes, oh, Tuesday, I guess.
And it was just something along the lines of, especially around the holiday seasons, it's
tough, right?
It's a very happy time, but it's also a very hard time for a lot of people.
And sometimes you're in a spot where you just feel like you're alone.
We've all been there.
And no matter if, even if you're not, you feel like you are.
And you need to talk to people and you need to have, you need to reach out and have a conversation
with people you need to just hear it sometimes and i don't know what was going on with twitch i have no
idea i don't want to try to speculate because i don't know um but it's sad he leaves he leaves
behind a wife two children yeah god and it's just just brutal man it's so sure on this time and
you just never know what people are going through i know people were posting videos of him and his son
dancing on ellen and like he totally it's i mean it's the classic case of he's just always smiling always
looks happy, always bringing joy to other people.
It was wild when I saw that this,
or when you're listening to this yesterday morning,
it was like, what the fuck is wrong with this planet?
I know.
How could you not be here?
Sometimes it feels weird like getting up and going to work.
When you wake up and like we saw that it was the 10 years, Sandy Hook,
and then you see that about Twitch and like you're doom scrolling through
and everything just keeps getting hit.
And then the, the, it was his name, the guy who played,
the Power Ranger of Jason.
Oh, yeah.
And then, like, things like that.
And you're just like, okay, time to shower.
Like, and just start another day.
Yeah.
I know.
Miserable.
People are just really, and, and that's why you never know what people are going through.
Because you see, you saw Twitch on this show and he's just such a beacon of like light and hope and positivity.
And you're like, that, like, that guy's going through it.
Like, there's something, there's, there's, you just don't know.
and that's why I just try and it's so impossible because unless you have conversations with people
directly, you just don't know like those little things. And that's why I always try to say like
why social media is so dangerous because it's like you don't realize how powerful your words can be
like with, and there's nothing in this particular situation. But like just like when you say something
about somebody or you make it. It's just like you can really hurt someone's like feelings. You can do stuff.
And it's like and it makes you, I mean, I'm certainly.
it's it's it goes to show the whole you know like uh getting what you your dreams coming true
that's not going to fix like what what's going on with you like i always thought that oh if i only
had a bunch of money and i got famous and like i was a working comedian stuff i would be i'd be
happy but no i have to deal with all my issues right now and then maybe that'll happen but it maybe
it won't but you have to take care of yourself and i mean yeah you can put on a good show i've
I've done it plenty of times when I've been miserable.
Especially if you're a performer,
which is what we continue to see.
Christian, I saw your post,
and I actually was not,
I don't want to say surprise because I know your history,
but that's not typically your content.
Was there like a driving factor,
or you were just thinking about this time period?
A bunch of times I've heard people on comments
and social media saying how the holidays are rough
and how things are,
are tough and I always think about like whether it's my brother or anything too like just there's times
that you there are people that are missing from your life or the things that you're getting close to
the new year that maybe you didn't think you accomplished or there's other major things going on
with you as you get to a place where you're there are some people who are sitting at home like not
celebrating with anyone I was in a place remember Thanksgiving one year and go anywhere yeah that's me
this year for the holidays I'll be here and it's and it's like and you're walking around going
And it's like, it was that.
It was that.
And I said, you know, maybe it was one of these things that just kind of time to say,
hey, listen, just so you know, because I hear that.
I hear the all time.
Sometimes people are just like, I said something with Brett and I were having a conversation
about it on the air.
And someone was like, I needed to hear that.
And I was like, sometimes people just need to hear it.
And sometimes when you're scrolling through and you see somebody kind of just say something nice to you,
it's like, okay, cool.
So that was just kind of the motivation by it.
Yeah.
No, I appreciated it.
It was just interesting because I had.
called your content B minus.
Oh, so what is it now?
I felt like it bumped you up a little bit.
So it like a B plus?
Yeah.
Oh, nice.
Nice.
I was like that at his heart.
It's got a little bit more.
So should I do some more fart stuff?
No,
you got a master TikTok dance and then you're...
Then I'm good.
Then I'll be a day.
One thing I will say, not to give a shameless plug,
but for anybody who is solo this holiday season,
I don't usually do much on my YouTube channel because I've been over here and doing
stuff with the World World Worlds, but I decided to go live every day for
December just in case anybody was.
solo and needed a 15-minute, an hour-long, friendly face.
So I'll be live on Christmas and all of the days in December,
just in case you guys need somebody to talk to.
There you go.
I like that a lot.
So anyway, look, hearts, prayers, thoughts, everything.
I know sometimes that just seems kind of the thing we say,
but legit for his family and his kids and everybody.
And it's just, it's horrible.
That's horrible.
And then like that's so going back to your question as far as why like a post like that like this holiday season now or holiday seasons in general for that family will never be the same.
No, obviously not.
That's why.
Yeah.
For sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The two kids and the wife too.
It's just like.
It's really, it's really hard.
Okay.
Look.
So there's no really, there's no.
There's no transition out of the out of it at all.
The only thing that I could say to try to lighten the mood at all.
Is that said.
And Roxy comes in fire and shows.
Roxy's dryer.
Eating that cheese finally?
No.
No?
No.
No?
No.
Like, you should.
But then it would make me.
I'd love to see you on a cup of coffee.
Have you ever tried a cup of coffee ever in your life?
No.
Can you try a cup of coffee?
No.
Why?
What will it take?
I'm saving it for something really special.
Yeah, I'm saving it until my wedding day.
Let's see how that goes.
Just chugging coffee.
Shit not a storm.
Shit not a storm on the honeymoon.
Going back for one second, but not fully back,
I heard you had to delete some comments about how ugly I am.
Is that what happened?
How did she, first of all, who tells you that I deleted it?
The people.
That who wrote it?
No.
Oh, just in general.
Other people so sorry about all those comments.
I was like, I don't even see them.
There was one comment.
Why would they tell you that?
Yes.
Who the fuck?
Like I, like, I, like, I, like, I, like, I was so proud of myself.
Like, I got there.
It's like, there's no chance she's going to see this.
There's no chance.
But the people.
I got it.
But they say, like, sorry the guy said that about.
She's like, what?
Just assume.
I was like, he said what?
And they're like, how ugly you were.
Yeah.
And then you were a piece of filth.
Oh, really?
Well, I wouldn't have known that.
No, I just wanted to let you know.
I'm sorry that the thing you didn't see that said you were a filthy piece of ugly
trash.
You got to screenshot them.
You know I like to do that thing on my Instagram
where I share.
I didn't want that.
That one wasn't necessary.
Try to recount it.
I know what the comment was.
You really want to know what it was?
It wasn't even that bad.
It was something like, I mean, it was bad, but it wasn't, it was like.
I've heard words.
Seeing Kathy Kelly sitting there makes you realize
average strokes and strut.
Oh, no.
Yeah, hey, he said to me here.
And I said, come on.
And I deleted it.
No.
And I would, oh.
I was never even going to bring it up.
I was like, I got it.
I was like, I got it.
I was like, I got it.
She's a good looking chick.
Good looking girl.
Some people.
She's not ugly.
It's like a Betty Veronica situation.
Yeah, for sure.
Veronica was raised on a princess pillow and I was raised in with a trash can.
When you go.
I found me calling her a princess.
That was a pretty comment.
Yeah, listen, don't worry about it.
I'm glad that they, they spot a jowd on that one.
They should have said, oh, no, just nothing.
just kidding.
That's what they said they said just kidding.
Hey, how about don't fucking say anything?
How about that for once?
Are you happy to be back at the table?
Yeah.
Back in the secret.
Jeez.
I am just angry.
Yeah, don't worry about it.
Listen.
Let's get.
I am pissed.
You can't even be offended by that because it's like, come on.
I actually, there's only like one comment type of comment that I really don't like.
I know what?
George.
Yeah.
That's like kills me because it's like, what am I supposed to do?
Yeah, right.
You guys are mad because you're.
anti-Semites.
Like, there's nothing I can't.
Well, that's why you can't get upset about it because those people are just turds.
Yeah, those, it doesn't really, like, it's not the same.
But when I see it, I'm just like, ugh.
Oh, speaking of which, I started watching the Fableman's, by the way.
Started it?
It's not a TV show.
You got to understand something.
Yeah, okay, okay, the kids, the wife.
It's a three-hour film.
Yeah.
And so we.
But I saw it in the theater.
I'm not getting up and coming back to the theater.
Where did you watch Fablements?
A screener.
Oh.
So the.
I thought you meant you literally went.
No, no, no, no, no.
And it came back.
No, no, no.
So I started watching it.
We started watching it last week.
And we're like, okay.
And then something happened.
I'm like, we'll come back to it.
So last night, we finally, because two nights ago, we watched, my daughter and I, I told
you we were watching the MCU.
Oh, yeah.
So we did Infinity War.
And she lost her mind, Vivian.
Loved it?
Loved it.
But she was, I told her as we started, I said, this is emotional roller coaster.
And so this was her face throughout the entire, the entire thing.
It was this.
Oh.
She's watching.
Oh, my God.
She's like everybody that she loves is going.
At that age,
you don't know that something else is.
Yeah, that's crazy.
And left her,
she just doesn't,
her favorite,
as the movie starting,
she's like,
Spider-Man's my favorite.
She's like,
Spider-Man is my favorite.
And she's like,
Spider-Man took forever,
for spoilers for Infinity War.
But she's like,
Spider-Man was like,
he,
he, like,
everyone else just disappeared
and like he had so much pain
as he was going.
And she was like,
because she's really processing
at 11 years old, right?
So anyway,
we watched that and I let her stay up a little later because I didn't want to stop.
We had stopped the first hour and then watched the rest.
I'm like, just finish it and go to sleep.
I was right before the snap and like I can't.
My wife's like, she got to go to bed.
I'm like, come on.
What's bedtime for her?
During school nights, it's like 8.30.
We'll push it sometime.
I let her go to sleep that night like a little after nine.
But like, you know, we'll push it until like 9.30 for weekends.
You know, she's got an apple pencil now.
She's been drawn.
She's doing all that stuff.
But anyway.
Apple pencil?
Apple pencil?
They're awesome.
They're awesome.
Yeah.
But it's another thing.
No, not.
So, but anyway, my, um.
Hey, you like Apple pencils?
They're not a sponsor.
Not yet.
When Apple, when Apple sponsors us, we're going to be doing it.
We're going to be doing it all right.
Um, but listen.
So my wife walks in and she's like, uh, last night.
We finally, Vivian's like, okay, I'm going to go to bed a little early.
I put her to sleep.
We got her to bed.
It was like, it was like, let's watch Fablements.
So sure is shit.
We're like, we get back into, we're going to finish this movie now.
We start watching a little bit of it
And then the front door
Who the hell is knocking at it?
Nobody nods. It's like the Sebastian joke.
Back when someone were knocking
the door, you get excited now.
It's like, who is it?
No, and who knocks in the door without calling
or anything too? So I open it up
and I just hear my mother-in-law, it's me.
And I'm like, what the hell is she doing here now?
Oh, my God, I can't figure out my phone.
And she couldn't figure out her phone.
The phone, this woman had a flip phone for the last.
So she, does she live here?
Yeah, she lives.
But she drove over, you know, 10 minutes to get here.
So I knew she lived here.
I didn't know she lived here.
Yeah, she looked like 10 minutes it took her together, but less.
But she's like, I can't figure out.
I have something called Google Talkback.
And it keeps talking to me.
And I don't want to talk to it.
And she's like, I can't get the screen to go.
I hate this phone.
And I'm like, the phone is fine.
I'm like, it's an amazing phone.
It's better than my phone.
And so she's like, I can't.
So I go into the kitchen.
Brett, I go like this.
It's fixed.
What?
And then I'm telling her how to do this.
Don't go so fast.
And I'm showing her.
And like she's there for God knows how long.
My daughter then hears her.
Grandmommie's here.
Comes downstairs.
And then she's.
Comes downstairs.
Comes downstairs.
She's up now.
And then finally when this is all over, my wife's like I'm going to sleep.
Oh.
You said you didn't watch a second.
15 minutes, maybe, 10.
Got through Judd Hirsch stuff, which was awesome.
Yeah, awesome.
And then that's the end of it.
So I'm going to, we're going to try tonight with any other debacle that's going on.
My daughter does want to watch Captain Marvel, but I got to watch this movie.
Started watching Puss and Boots yesterday, too.
Yeah.
I don't finish that.
So that one's pretty good.
I like that one.
Yeah, you should watch Puss and Boots.
Did you see it?
No, but.
Unknown caller.
Unknown caller.
What is?
What the actual?
Hold on, hold on, hello.
Hold on a second.
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
Who is it?
Nothing.
Yeah, I think maybe...
Could they just hear that ring?
Yeah.
Yeah, the phone should probably be turned down during the show.
Not that one, the phone one, right?
This one.
Isn't that it?
Yeah, I think so.
Well, I'm just going to turn it off.
Wait, what the fuck was that?
It was my ringtone.
What is your ringtone?
It's, I've had it forever.
It's the, it's the chant from, from Bain from the Dark Night Rises.
Yeah.
It used to be the old.
corruption theme. Anyway, let's get into some stuff. And before I even do that, I got something to

And you get yourself a discount.
You help out the show.
You help out yourself.
And you give a nice gift.
All right, moving on.
Let's get to this first story as we were talking about.
Bless you.
The Avatar film, the new one, the way of water.
Everybody here has seen it.
We're not going to give any spoilers.
but this is what the sequel so far is targeting.
It's targeting half a billion debut.
So James Cameron, this is from Dark Horizons.
James Cameron's big budget 3D sci-fi sequel,
Avatar the Way of Water,
hits almost all of the world cinemas this weekend,
and it is set to shake up the box office in the process.
Now, Deadline reports that the film is currently on track
for a worldwide opening weekend hall of 525 million,
thanks to being Disney's wild global release ever across 52,000,
screens. Of that, 175 million of that is expected to come from North America, with double that
amount coming from international markets, 100 million of which is expected just from China.
That's just the early predictions. The week of projections for Spider-Man No Way Home last year were
around the 350 worldwide mark, and the film ended up taking in 600 million haul in its debut.
So whether such a jump will be repeated here, it's not clear. The franchise skews a little older
than Marvel and the 192 minute runtime with limited showings on any given day.
So Cameron's film is expected to have holding power as his films always have in this release corridor.
Disney is also, excuse me, Disney also has major and premium auditoriums booked out for the next five weekends for
the film, which has no real blockbuster challengers until Ant Man and the Wasp, Quantumania on February 17th.
All right, so so much to talk about here.
Auditoriums. I haven't heard that word about a movie in a minute.
This movie is going to get very close to...
I'm changing my tune.
So what they had said was that it needs around 700 to 900 to break-even.
With a 500 million prediction on opening weekend,
I think it's pretty safe that it's going to hit that break-even.
I think you can make...
That's a bet you can make.
I don't think there's any shot that this thing bombs or loses money.
Obviously.
That's part one.
Now, part two is, is it going to be able to be able to be...
beat 1.2, 1.3, whatever, and make itself a little bit of a profit and then close to
top gun and all that, right? I think, yes, it does that. I thought it was going to top out at
1.4. I think this movie gets close to $2 billion. I think this movie gets close to the top three
of all time. Of profit or of how much money? The number in general. So I think in order to make a
$2 billion profits, it's got to make almost $3 billion. I think it makes $2 billion overall because
Now, will it be, will it...
That's not highest grossing.
Not highest grossing yet because it has to...
I think that Avatar 1 is like 2.8 or something.
Something like that.
That's what we determined last week.
Something like that.
But I don't think it hits the number one.
I think that was the question as we posed in the thumbnail.
Will it become the most profitable movie of all time?
I don't think so.
But if you would have asked me a week ago,
I would have been surprised if it was.
I am not surprised anymore if it turns out that it does become the number one.
I would be shocked.
I would be shocked.
Not anymore.
What's weird is that the second Avatar has a significantly better story than the first avatar.
Yes.
And I like the movie a lot more.
The second one.
The way of water.
Yeah.
But if this movie breaks $2 billion, I would be pretty surprised.
And if it gets to 2.7, 2.8, whatever it is, I would be shocked.
I will say that in my mom's little home.
it's the only thing in the theater.
No, no.
It's the only film playing for like five days straight in her little theater.
So they have no choice but to go to the city.
I'm not saying that this small town will make a difference.
No, no, no, but that's the point.
And I think that that's one of the reasons.
One, it's getting good reviews, all right?
That's part one.
Part two is that now it opens up an opportunity to say,
okay, well, the first one was the thing that I think that a lot of people that I've noticed
that thought the first one was just,
okay. Love this one and want to go back and see a third one. Now, the common thread that I've
heard is I didn't really care if they were doing a second one. I didn't know. The first one was fine.
And now those people, all of those people are like, that I've talked to are saying, I want to see a
third. I want to see a third. Now, the other thing is, as they mentioned this report and you just
mentioned, it's the only game in town until February. And the other big thing is that it is
playing in China and it is going to make about a hundred million in China alone.
Think about the repeat viewing in China.
Think about the repeat viewing here.
It's a movie you had asked this question before you had seen it to us.
And I said, oh, I want to go back and see it again.
You went, oh, you want to see a three-hour movie again?
And then I asked you this morning, do you want to see it again?
You're like, yeah.
That's going to be the thread because this movie is more of an experience than just a movie
to watch in the theaters.
I agree.
This is no knock on the movie in any way.
I think it's really, really strong.
And I think everybody should go see it.
And obviously in theaters.
I just can't picture this making $2.8 billion.
I don't, yeah, that's a lot of money.
It's very clearly not the best movie of all time.
Well, neither was the first.
I know.
Now, but the first one, to be fair, also made 2.8 over the stretch of 13 years.
Exactly.
And also, we had never seen anything like it before.
Right.
Now we haven't not seen anything like it.
I think 2.8 is a stretch, and I don't think it gets there.
I'm just saying if it cracked $2 billion, I would not be surprised at this point because the other major factor is this.
The movies, as they mentioned in that report, the movies that have been hitting the really high numbers are the Marvel movies, the Star Wars movies, the DC movies, you know, the comic book movies and movies IPs that we've seen.
James Cameron has now built a new IP.
Yeah, yeah.
And so I think that that is refreshing to a lot of people as well, even if you didn't love the first one.
I think what people are going to realize when they see this movie,
you know, even if you weren't a fan of the first one,
you're going to go, oh, that's why I really liked going back in 2009
because you just don't experience movies like this.
You just don't.
And I made the example on our Patreon rewatch of the first one.
I said to it, and I might have said it the other day.
But like Dune is an example of a movie that I saw in here.
I watched it on the screen, right?
And I had surround sound and I really enjoyed it.
Now, what have I had?
You go to the theaters for Dune.
No.
And I didn't go to, because it was, it was.
COVID.
Yeah, at that point.
And it was HBO Max and I said, I'm going to watch it.
Now, would I probably have probably had a really great experience watching that movie in the theaters?
Yes.
But it didn't take it away in a way that the same thing of not seeing Avatar in the theater because it's not, it's almost built like a universal theme park ride.
Well, yeah, and you have, I mean, you don't have to, but you got to see it in three.
Yeah, you, three D I max.
If you can handle it, if you can handle it.
It's built for 3D IMAX, though.
I know.
Yeah.
I just don't feel that way.
I watched it in 3D, obviously, in 3D IMAX.
Well, I'm hurt that you disagree with.
Yeah, I am too.
It was, I just don't fucks with those, the 3D.
It, like, is dizzying me.
And I can't stop seeing out of the side of my eye.
My wife is the same.
And I took them off for like about 10 minutes of the movie, which is weird.
Yeah.
But was better for me.
Oh, okay.
Well, I think, to be fair, I think it's, I think you're rare in the idea.
My wife's the same.
She can't do the 3D.
Dainito can't do 3D.
Parts of 3D were sick,
especially when anything was like reading or what,
yeah, like anything like that was great.
It's cool, but I am one,
I'm aware 100% of the time.
Yes.
That like there's like a thing on the side that I can't stop seeing.
I don't like the big clunky glasses normally and you need them for these
because it's such heavy,
like powerful 3D.
I use like the sunglasses one because I do,
they were falling off my face a couple times.
I was doing. When I saw the screening, actually, the initial screening, I was nervous because
it was, I haven't told this yet, it's, it's, I was watching it and, um, you know Rick Hong, right?
So he had, he came to me and he's like, hey, we started having a conversation and talking.
And, and then, um, he walks over to the side. The movie starts and there's like these glitching
on the screen first. And then the movie starts and then the right side of my glasses aren't working.
It's only the left side. And it's like this big fog. I'm like, oh, my glass.
are messed up.
So I'm like, all right, well, perfect.
The screen wasn't working, and now my glasses are messed up.
I'm going to miss the first, like, freaking 10 minutes is movie.
So I go, I'll start walking down the aisle to tell people, and then I hear someone else's
scream.
I'm pretty sure it was Rick.
He goes, does anyone else's glasses not working?
I'm like, I turn back around.
I sit down.
And I'm like, well, it seems to be everybody.
So I sit down, and then they fixed everybody's glasses, and that was it.
I don't know.
I don't know what happened, but it was just.
There was, like, a fuzzy part of the left side of my glasses for the whole thing.
over the whole thing.
Weird.
That's what it was.
It was like fuzzy.
And I couldn't even, I couldn't even see out of it, really.
So you had the ones that kind of adjust to, like there's something.
I assume because it worked fine once they adjusted it.
I think I saw Thor with these.
It was like, it was some little thing in the middle that adjust to the line.
These were just straight up glasses.
And then you had just the straight up glasses, right?
There was no like.
Like the clunky, did you have clunky ones?
Yeah.
They were heavy.
They didn't have the heavy ones.
No, I did.
You don't they need to have the ones that you would use to, you had these.
see the old guys they put over their, you know, to make their regular driving glasses,
sunglasses, that's what it should be.
So you don't get that out of the eye.
Yeah, it should wrap around or something.
I don't know.
Something.
I think they're going to change it.
Maybe there's something wrong with it.
I genuinely don't know.
Also, I was the furthest seat on the right.
So I was thinking maybe like it looked warped, kind of.
Talking so far away from the mic today.
I literally am right here.
All right.
Could I be closer?
I don't know.
Maybe.
Maybe.
I don't know.
I want everybody to see the distance I am from the mic.
I'm going to turn this this way.
Don't do that while I have this.
No, you're closer now.
I literally.
Much better.
No way.
All right, listen.
Anyway, let me ask you guys questions.
Okay.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
But real quick, I was saying if you can handle 3D is what I meant.
You know, it's like because I know I can't do a lot of VR stuff like that.
But if you can handle the 3D, I think you should see it in the 3D.
I've never done VR.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Do you ever want to try it?
Um, would.
I have one here.
Yeah, would.
We should do that one these times.
It doesn't.
It's,
because you haven't tried it, it's amazing.
It's amazing.
Anyway, listen, I got to ask you guys,
first of all, tell me this.
And if you've never commented before,
please comment on this one.
If you have commented,
then comment again,
because I want to hear your thoughts.
Just don't tell Roxy things.
If somebody says something stupid,
I'm going to delete it.
Screenshot first.
But let me ask you this.
first of all are you going to see this movie if so when you're trying to see it opening
weekend are you going to wait or you're not going to see it at all you're going to wait to see
you're just going to you know if i see it i see it or you can't wait that's part one part two is
do you think that it is going i think everybody at this point thinks it's going to make
at least a profit maybe you don't maybe you think it's going to bomb let me hear your thoughts
there but the main question is this do you think that it'll hit two billion
and do you think that it has a chance to become the number one movie
of all time. That one's the toughest one. I don't think anyone here at the table thinks that's going
to happen. I do. I'll do that just to be that guy. But do you think that though? I think it's going to
make over the course of however long. I don't know a lot about this, but I'm just looking at the
variables of yes, it's the only game in town. And does it count? I mean, that the fact you have to
pay more money to watch 3D and stuff like that. So I think, and I think there's going to be a lot of people
that are going to go to this and convince people that were hesitant like, no, no, you got to see this.
So I don't know much about a box office,
but I'll take that bet to see if I win.
Here's the other thing people aren't talking about with this movie.
In 2009, there were probably eight-year-olds who saw this in the theater
and were blown away by it as a look.
Imagine, remember seeing the movies that you saw at seven or eight years old
and blown away by it?
And you'll always remember that.
Those kids are going back to see it now at 21, 22 years old, wherever they are.
Now, think about the new,
eight, nine, 10-year-olds that are going to go see it.
I'm going to see my-
You would take a kid that young to see this?
Eight?
Yeah.
It's like very violent.
Maybe 10.
Maybe you're right.
Maybe 10.
I don't know anything about children.
No, you're right.
I think it depends on the parent, but let's say, let's say 10.
Let's say that because my daughter watched the first one at 10, and she loved it.
I mean, loved it.
And can't wait to see the new one now.
And I'm going to take her to go see it.
So it just depends on the kid, but I'd say anywhere between, depending on what the kid can
handle, but let's just call it 10 years old. Those 10 year olds that are now seeing it in the
theater, and that, the other thing that is so brilliant about this one and the reason why it's got
a shot, this is a family-based movie. This is a family, like families, yes, it's violent,
it's got, it's beautiful, it's got everything. It's got romance. It's got everything. And that's
why he's playing. He is, James Cameron is a wizard. He is a wizard. And that's why I said it from the
beginning, never doubt the man. Never doubt them. Because the other thing people aren't talking about
as far as profit goes, and this is something I mentioned again on Patreon, this isn't, this is a
conversation they have with the producers. This movie, apparently the budget is like $400 million,
right? But what they're not telling people or people aren't talking about is apparently a lot of
that budget was used to shoot like 80% of the third film. Yeah. So it's really not the budget for the
movie. It's the budget for the third movie. Wow. So it's the second one in if you do the math,
the second one is going to make a ton of profit. And then that movie's, that money, it's already
paid for. So the budget of the third movie is going to be significantly lower. No, it's obviously
money well spent. I don't mean that in terms of it being money well spent that. He's got to get up.
I know. It's amazing though, because he tried to whisper to you, do I have to get up, but he was
sitting on camera.
I knew he was on camera,
so it was the best part.
I don't mean money well spent
as in like there's not better things
to spend your money on in the world.
Obviously,
we could try to fight world hunger
and things like that.
But in terms of films,
this is so obviously
going to make its money back
and some.
And then the third one,
and they're banking on a whole franchise
and this also have a theme park now.
You know, like this is a whole thing.
It's a whole thing.
And I think it's going to make a tremendous amount of money.
All right.
We're good.
We're good.
So, all right,
let's get,
It's working.
It was the second time I did it.
Yeah.
Oh, it did today?
Yeah, I got up earlier just to put or get, take it.
I don't know.
I'm going to get the cameras.
We're trying to figure it out.
And hopefully we got the glitchy stuff working.
But, uh, all right, guys.
So that's, um,
better glitch than itch.
Yeah, yeah, look at that.
It's kind of gross.
Uh, let's, let's move on.
We'll do another, another story that I do want to talk about here.
Of course, no, not that one.
Perfect.
Patty Jenkins.
So there's a lot going on with D.C. right now.
We know that.
I mean, a lot.
We don't know anything.
but we do know that.
Right.
We just know that there's a lot going on.
So Patty Jenkins, again, Dark Horizon, thank you for the reporting of this story.
After being the subject of various reports lately and a lot of speculation,
filmmaker Patty Jenkins has gone on the record to clear up reports about her involvement
in both the third Wonder Woman film and the Star Wars spinoff feature Rogue Squadron
in a statement released on Twitter.
Since she was going to exit Rogue Squadron over scheduling issues
and she wanted to get to work on Wonder Woman 3 after several delays of that sequel.
Lucasfilm then made a new deal with her, which is still in effect,
and we'll see her return to the project after finishing Wonder Woman 3.
She says that project has been an active development ever since our new deal.
I don't know if it's going to happen or not.
We never do until the development process is complete,
but I look forward to its potential ahead.
Then she turned her attention towards recent reports and backlash
over a third Wonder Woman film not happening
and how the attractive clickbait false story that was Jenkins,
who killed it or walked away from the project.
She outright denies such claims.
It's simply not true, Jenkins says.
I never walked away.
I was open to considering anything asked of me.
It was my understanding that there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time.
D.C. is obviously buried in changes, and they are having to make them,
so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.
Her statement continues praising her time with the character, her leading lady Gallagadot,
and the fans who supported her and the character.
I do not want what has been a beautiful journey with Wonder Woman to land on a negative note.
I have loved them and been so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman films.
I wish her and her legacy an amazing future ahead with or without me.
The comments feel like she is saying goodbye to the character either way.
So what does this mean for the progress of the Rogue Squadron film?
That's unclear.
DC is in the midst of a complete overhaul of its slate,
so the big question linger as to the future.
of those characters and the actors currently playing those roles.
Christian,
yeah.
I thought when we started this show,
which is why I was confused at the top,
that you said that this was her Patty Jenkins doing.
No, no,
that was the report.
The previous report,
not this report,
not her responding to it.
She's,
she's,
so here's,
to the backtrack of what happened, right?
So the big report was that DC had,
she had presented her script,
and DC said,
no, thank you.
We're not going in that direction.
as you were aware of, and so we're moving forward.
Then the report came out that Patty Jenkins had an opportunity to be part of it.
Right.
Right.
And she walked away.
Then Jeff Snyder said on John Roker's show, the hot mic, that he had heard that
Patty Jenkins is the one that was making things difficult on both Star Wars and on this,
that she was the one that was basically.
Wow, I had not heard that.
That came out last week or a couple of it.
And then so she responded in that tweet to that report.
Saying that, saying no, that's not what happened.
I would have done anything.
So she's basically said, yeah, she just wasn't asked of her inside of that for DC.
And she understood because the report was that she was like, no, I'm not changing my thing.
I'm out.
And she's negating that.
And the same goes for the rogue squadron part of it, which she says Lucasfilm and her came to a new deal.
they just because she was working on Wonder Woman 3.
Right.
She couldn't do it.
Now, I don't think that Rogue Squadron movie is going to happen.
I think that Lucasfilm has no idea what they're doing it with their movies.
Or if they do, they're starting a new direction now.
They had an idea back then, and they're moving past it.
They had their deal with Patty Jenkins and whether or not it happens or not, I don't think it will.
Because I think that they're starting to, and especially now Ike are coming back and they probably have a new structure.
And I think that the rumors again were that Filoni had.
And Linda Lough and all these other people are sitting in these rooms together.
And finally, saying, let's come up with a clear-cut plan of how to make all these movies work and put them together.
And then we'll announce when it's time.
At least that's my hope because they haven't.
This crap like this keeps happening.
It's a bummer for Patty Jenkins, man.
Like the people that I'm feeling for right now, obviously everybody working on every project from the gaffer to the casting directors to everybody.
you know, behind the scenes people, everybody.
But right now, Patty Jenkins and Henry Cavill are both top of mind for people who are possibly
getting screwed.
You saw Henry Cavill at the Avatar premiere?
I saw him there.
Did he say anything?
No, just people speculating like, wow.
Because he's really rep in Disney right now.
And like he had a big old solo carpet moment where he is just like looking ready to jump ship.
Now that's all obviously.
He's a big movie star.
He's allowed to go to whatever carpet he wants.
Could be nothing.
Might just love Avatar.
Yeah, might just love Avatar.
Yeah.
Could be nothing.
However.
Sure.
You can understand why that report would be coming out.
Absolutely.
Could be something.
Yeah.
And between him having to leave the Witcher,
him possibly never going to be Superman again,
which I'm not saying, he's going to happen.
But if it does happen,
he's, that's totally some fuckery.
And then with Patty Jenkins,
being part of two of the biggest franchises of all time,
and then being part of maybe neither,
that's some fuckery going on to.
Well,
the thing was Patty Jenkins, what I said the other day was this, is that Patty Jenkins has
the opportunity now because she has directed of the, whatever, close to, I think it was like
$700 million, whatever the first one did. And the second one didn't do that great, but it's also
pandemic and hard, it just went through a lot of shit. So the fuckery of it all with, with DC
is tough because, and with Cavill as well, because if you're handing,
it over a thing.
Completely.
Yeah, yeah, I know you know this, but it's just like, it's a, it's a, it's a lose-lose
in a certain situation because it's like, okay, we know what we have to do.
Like, we have our plan.
And unfortunately, that doesn't fit in there.
Now, what Patty Jenkins is saying is, correct.
Correct.
Now what Patty Jenkins is saying is I get it.
Yeah.
It sucks.
The report was that she was like not taking that, but I'm going to trust the source and
say, no, I'm cool with it.
I get it.
I understand.
It's, it's business.
And that's what, yeah.
Now, Cavill is the only one.
that I think could actually survive all of it.
You don't think Patty Jane's going to survive all this?
No, no, no, I'm saying inside the DC and still be there.
And you can still...
Survive his role.
You can still use the Man of Steel in a way.
I think Affleck's gone.
I think Mamoa is gone but comes back as Lobo.
I think...
Weird.
Yeah, but you can do it.
And I think that all of these characters that we've known before,
you can lose people who will be mad,
but not as mad if you lose Cavill.
If you bring back Cavill,
You got to bring back the Ray of Hope Superman, the different version that not the the
version of almost like the Christopher Reeve type version that you were introduced with
Superman.
No Amy Adams.
Jimmy Olson is back.
He's not dead anymore.
It's a different.
How are you doing this?
Different Earth.
It's a flashpoint.
Oh.
So you're, you're hoping that the flash movie?
I'm hoping that the flash will, will, explains this.
Because apparently Henry Cavill shot something for.
the flash.
Now I'm hoping that if they're going to use him,
this is how you do it,
because then you can follow him in a different,
like your DC universe could be a different earth,
could be a different thing,
could set up a whole new Justice League,
can set up everything.
And people go,
okay,
it sucks that we lost everybody else,
but we still got Cavill.
You lose,
and you could very well lose everybody.
And then you just got to get a bad night.
I think it's so weird to just keep Cavill.
That would be so strange.
It just depends on how it's executed.
Because then you're keeping Caval and Mamoa,
but Mamoa,
a different role and Cavill is a different
Earth. That feels so messy. I feel
like either they figure out a way
to make this work with the people they have
or they cut them all. There's no chance they're going to
keep them all because it's too... So I think that they
might be cutting them. Wow. Which
is possible. They did say that Superman
is a priority. Yeah. A character.
But they didn't say Cabo is a priority. They said
James Gunn said Superman is a priority. So
people keep using this thing that I keep pushing back on it.
Well, Cavill's 40 years old. He's too old anyway.
Robert Down Jr. was like 41.
or 42 when he's seen him.
I know he doesn't even,
he looks like he's 35 years old and he's a brick shit house.
Yeah,
I think we're good.
Yeah,
we're okay with Henry Cavill.
But I'd like to see Cavill return.
I do think that they can make that work if they do it with the,
depending on which earth they use and if they set it up the right way,
because they did it pretty well in Marvel with certain characters and certainly look at like
what they did with Gamora.
Like kind of.
That's one character decade in.
I know.
But, well,
I mean,
Cavill's a solid franchise.
Listen,
I'm just.
saying it just if you're going to do it that's the only way you can do it because if you don't
you start bringing in well yeah but amy adams is also coming back and jimmy elson's coming back
and a aflis coming back then it connects too much to the other the centerverse and it's like you
that's the whole great part about having a multiverse and that you're able to do things like that
and i wouldn't be mad at that because i do want to see henry cavil as superman and i actually
controversial opinion don't think we've seen harry cavil of superman not one time like you didn't like
man of steel no i hated manor steel but i also just don't think we've seen him as like superman
The one that we've always been presented with.
Yes, right.
The one that we were supposed to get to after he came back, you know, that just hasn't happened.
No, I, Manisteele actually, like, irks me to the extent that it's hard to even speak about.
Oh, wow, I love that movie.
Because of what happened with the dog.
I am so.
Oh, and he saves the dog instead of Kevin Cost.
In that moment, I'm like, you're out.
Actually, go fuck yourself.
Like, you don't want people to know.
And people will fight me online about this to this day, like tooth and nail.
that's fine that you guys like it.
You are telling me, or you kill your dad.
You won't go save him because you don't want anybody to know who you are
because he's told you to do that.
There's no world in which you are,
I'm sorry to use this because it sounds so fucking Gen Z of me,
but you're not my Superman then.
You are not my Superman.
Like you do not watch your fucking father die.
Well, that was one of the main things.
Riley had that problem.
The reason why I'm not, like I really love the movie.
The reason I'm not going to fight.
you too hard on that scene.
It's because one of the main reasons,
especially like the Donner Superman,
that is so relevant when his dad dies.
You can't do anything about it.
You can't do anything.
You can't do anything.
You're going to stand there and watch.
Are you kidding, bro?
Right, right.
But either way.
Either way, the chance.
You guys, listen, so you guys,
you think you should come back?
You think at this point,
look, I wanted them to come back,
but if they're going to reboot, just reboot it.
Same thing. Comment. Got to know your thoughts on it.
That's what is Dad wanted.
Stop this. All right.
Before we move on, I also wanted to tell you guys,
we're very, very excited to be working again with Athletic Greens.
So excited to be working with Athletic Greens.
They're back.
Everybody in this show uses them, and you should be using them too.
They are amazing.

It's that time of the show, everybody.
Roxy Stryer.
She got some, she got some.
she had some TV shows for us.
But before we get into the rocks,
let's talk about some of the shows
that you recommended that I watched.
I'm so proud of you.
That I actually watched some of them?
Severance.
We'll start with Severance.
I'm so happy.
One of the best shows in a very long time.
It's a great show.
But you also know, like, we talked about this.
I'm not someone who's going to say,
I hated it, I've always hated it.
I started watching it, didn't like the first 15 minutes,
and then I said, because I thought they were doing like this
being John Malcovich thing,
and they were just going to stay in like,
look how artsy,
Fartsy we are.
They don't do that.
It's a science fiction.
I was telling somebody yesterday.
It's a science fiction show.
It's a very smart show.
Adam Scott is great, but the actress who plays Hellie, who is that?
Who is that?
Where'd she come from?
And she didn't get any gnombs.
Oh, my God.
That doesn't make sense.
Who is that?
She came out of nowhere.
I know.
She's fantastic.
I love her.
John, John Totoro, Christopher Walkin.
Yeah, right.
It's a great cast.
Patricia Arquette.
Patricia Arquette is great, too.
Crazy accent in it.
And then, or not accent necessarily, but just a tone of dialect.
Yeah, for sure.
And then, Britt Lauer.
Britt Lauer is the name.
She's so, God, she's good.
And then Grendel and Christie's going to be in season two.
I didn't know that.
So the show is really, really good.
I don't know if I'm at Best Season finale over the last like 10 years or not, but I'm, but it was a great.
You see where I'm coming.
Of course.
It was a great season finale.
And I was like, oh, like the way that they end.
that I'm like, okay, that's a great ending.
But I was like, oh.
Did you see it coming at all?
Well, I don't want to spoil it, but I don't know exactly how, where they went.
Just the final episode in general.
So I like a lot of things of what they did where you're just like the answer,
because a lot of times they wouldn't go that route.
They would go like, you're almost going to do that.
But they actually do it, but you don't see the result of what they did.
And I was like, that's cool.
I was like, I liked that.
I liked the bonding between them.
I liked the way.
I like the.
reveal of how these things worked.
And I'm trying to be as vague as possible for people who haven't seen it.
But yeah, I loved the series.
Music was fantastic.
It's not, it was, what, eight episodes?
Something like that.
Maybe nine.
I think it was maybe nine episodes.
But really good show, awesome show.
My really first Apple show that I've ever watched, I think, all the way through.
Oh, really?
I couldn't get into the TED Lassow.
And you didn't do the morning show?
My wife did.
I love that show.
Yeah, my wife loves that show.
Yeah, so the first season is nine episodes and then season two is going to be
10 episodes.
Okay.
So I'm down for season two.
I'm looking forward to that.
And then the other one...
We're looking at about October,
so you got some time to be.
Okay, that's good.
But that's all right.
I see a lot of things coming,
and I didn't see this coming.
Like, I, that ending was...
I'm always predicting things, too.
And during this, I was like, no.
So speaking to which,
and I'm going to give,
I won't say this on air
because I don't want a spoiler for anybody,
but did you see the ending of Knives Out?
Did you predict who it was?
To?
Honestly, yes, and then didn't,
And then yes and then didn't.
I thought it was the most predictable ever.
And everyone's telling me, it wasn't predictable at all.
I'm going to tell you why off camera, why I was predictable.
But I love the movie.
Yeah, I thought I knew and then I thought I didn't know and then I knew.
If you really look into it and you pay attention to it, I think it was one of the most predictable ending.
But you loved it.
I thought it was a great movie.
I think the whodunit part of it is like secondary.
100% I agree with these.
Now, there's the other show that I was already watching, but I was only one episode in and you kept talking about it every week.
And I'm like, I got to finish it, especially me.
and that's Tulsa King.
Yeah.
So Tulsa King is really fun.
There are some stuff,
like there's a fight scene
that happens in like episode four
that is ridiculous.
Yeah.
It's like it happens.
It doesn't look real.
It doesn't look like sopranos-esque,
like which is what it's set up for.
It looks like it people are swinging bats.
And I'm like, that looks fake.
It looks stupid.
But I'm still into it.
And then there's something that happens
at the end of season five that is brutal.
Episode of it?
Is that the last, is that the last episode?
Whatever it is.
It's when it's Stallone.
I hear a day, I'm in a place where you guys mean to do something.
I'm going to do it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
My daughter.
But I actually liked him in that moment.
Me too.
Because.
I loved them.
I love them in that way.
I was like, yeah.
Yeah.
Again, I don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't seen yet.
But love Tulsa King, started Abbott Elementary, couldn't get into it.
And I think that I, and I think it's because it's a network TV show.
Yeah.
And it feels network TV to me.
I think that the actors are really good.
It just, the premise of it, I feel like I've seen it a million times.
People talking to the camera, office, parks and rack, all this.
I'm like, we're going to do this again?
Yeah, so it is literally that.
It's the same thing.
But it grew on me like a leech.
Connominated.
It got so funny.
It has the most Golden Globes down for anything.
So maybe I got to stick it out and try it.
The first episode didn't know, though.
If you're not in the mood for mockumentary style sitcom, then don't watch this.
It wasn't that it was boring.
because like I said, it was severance.
I was bored in the first 15 minutes
and I went up loving it.
I appreciate it.
I just didn't laugh.
Yeah.
Didn't think it was funny.
Yeah.
I think that it's got,
it will grow on you in the sense that it's super East Coast,
like obviously Philly,
but like they have a lot of great East Coast moments.
And it does the humor just like ends up landing for me.
Yeah.
But I said this,
I've said this before,
this first season of Parks of Rec is awful.
It is a bad show.
And then that show ended up being so epic.
All right, look, maybe I'll give it a shot because, like I said,
it was after the whole Fabelman's debacle.
It was after I just finished Tulsa King.
So I was like, I'm...
Did you try it?
The which one, Tulsa.
No, I haven't yet.
Yeah, so I...
You would like this.
I think you would.
I think this is up your alley.
But I was, as I was watching it, I said,
I finished Tulsa King.
I'm like, I want to talk to Roxy tomorrow about one of her suggestions.
Thank you.
And I watched that one, but there's other ones that I'll, that I'll watch.
I want to see what you have on your list.
I will say this list,
list when you send me the images, I said, I don't think any of this stuff for me that you sent.
I was thinking about that today. I think one of them is for you. Okay. And this one, is this the one for me?
No. No. You would love this, but I feel like you don't watch that much stand-up anymore.
No, I started watching Sebastian's with my wife because that's because personal history and stuff.
Yeah. So Ramesh is a stand-up that I am unfamiliar with. Apparently, he's a massive UK stand-up.
Okay. And I've just been going on a tear recently on Netflix, so they keep recommending me stand-up.
And I was like, okay, let me watch this.
And it's two episodes, which is weird for a stand-up.
So I'm like, okay, what is this?
So the first episode is his actual performance.
And the second episode, he has his whole family, like, interview him.
And they are so funny.
Like, they don't look at him.
They don't look at him as a celebrity of any kind.
So they kind of are just like, they're just like dunking on him a little bit.
So he's like, mom, I want you to.
interview me for my special and she's like okay this is ramisham his mom why does netflix want you
just like they don't even mean to be they're just unintentionally so funny and he's like oh i'm coming
back to my hometown to do the special and they're like why it's a shithole here and he's like oh
because i just wanted to represent my hometown and his kids are like we're performing on that stage
we're doing our our elementary school performance on that stage next week that's where you're
going to film your Netflix special why would you do that like they're just
It's the one-two punch of how his family did it,
and then the actual special is great.
Why I think you would like it, Brett, you too,
is that he is a married guy,
and the entire stand-up is about being married
and, like, wanting sex with your wife
and, like, how to navigate that after long years of marriage,
losing a kid on the beach, how you find your child.
It's like, it's for you guys.
And I thought it was hysterical, but it's for you.
So this is worth your time on Netflix.
All right, so that one is,
The cynic.
The cynic.
Okay.
So the next one here.
Okay.
You is on my list, even though it is older, because you, one of the seasons of you stars
Jenna Ortega.
And I know a lot of people can't get enough of Jenna Ortega right now because they're obsessed
with Wednesday.
So if you are looking for more Jenna Ortega, then check out you.
This had a weird history to it.
I think it started on Lifetime and then it got picked up on Netflix.
It's a very soap opera-y.
I would say that this is a great you you it's called you have you seen that clip no like
what's laura ingram whatever her name is she was on she was doing that she was talking oh yeah yeah
I thought it was a bit when I watched the clip and then it was hysterical so for those she's talking to
this guy and he's like you know I watched you the day we were talking about chicken much we never
did a thing about chicken pox in a show no no no you yeah no we never did that no not not it's
you what do you mean you playing a prank of me you you show's called you she's like I
never have a show called you.
It's hilarious.
It's hilarious.
Yeah.
This show is called you and it is not, I would say it's not for you.
Right.
It could be for you and like your daughter.
It's definitely for me.
It's super soapy but in a really fun way.
And because it's Netflix, it's still high quality.
Okay.
All right.
So that's you season three.
It's not been it's not it has had three seasons I believe but it's not on currently
Right.
It's just because I think in season two was Jenna Ortego was one of the stars.
Okay here's the next one.
Now this one's definitely not from it.
Okay so here's the reason this is on my list.
I put a gossip girl on my list right now because the first season of Gossip Girl like
The first season of the reboot of Gossip Girl on HBO Max fucking sucked.
Yeah.
It was like painful to get through.
I was not going to watch it this season.
This season is slightly better.
So this is, if you love CW shows, like if you are looking for your fix of that Riverdale type show, but raunchier, this is the show for you right now.
I'm going to keep up with it, but like the show is trying so hard to be edgy and like hip.
Right.
But it's clearly written by people who aren't edgy and hip.
This is what I like about this segment, by the way.
You're not just raving about everything.
You're going to look, I'm giving this a shot.
This is what's out there right now.
And, like, this season, I'm giving it a shot, but we'll see if it stinks off the list.
If you're wondering if the show is worth your time, I would say that if you have watched a ton of other stuff and are looking for something and you're looking for something dramatic and like it's a bad euphoria is.
It's like a not good version of euphoria.
It's a glowing response.
All right, so let's go.
Yeah, but I'm going to watch.
No, totally.
All right.
So there's two left here.
Now, this, this I have started watching.
one that I would say is for you.
But I started watching it and I liked it.
I got to three episodes and again, my wife was the one who bailed on it.
But I was like, let's keep watching it.
She's like, ah, I'm done with it.
And I haven't got back to it.
But she's fantastic.
She can get nominated for this, did she?
Amanda Safer did get nominated.
She did.
Okay, she should have.
I'm actually not sure about the Emmys, but for Golden Globe.
This is why this is on my list.
So the reason I put the dropout on my list, obviously I watched it a long time ago,
but I haven't spoken about it on this show.
And the dropout is nominated for a globe.
Amanda Safer is nominated for a globe.
And I think she actually is a decent shot of winning
because she is such a dead ringer for Elizabeth Holmes.
This is the Theranos story and it is really well done.
It like very much so breaks down for you.
What happened and how she modeled her entire being after Steve Jobs
and like fake.
Fake voice and everything.
Yeah, fake voice and everything,
but also faked her way to the top in an extremely dangerous and detrimental way.
I also watched Inventing Anna this year,
which I thought was great about Anna Delvey's story.
This was better than that.
and Amanda Seyfried is like a true star,
Star Julie Garner is as well,
but this show is really good and it's getting a lot of noms.
Do you know why?
So this was so good and the performance was so good
that Jennifer Lawrence bailed from her version of it
because she's like, oh really?
Amanda Seferred just, she said, I'm good.
She is such a dead ringer.
It's like I don't know whether she studies mimicry or what,
but the way that she moves her mouth is like,
I don't get how you're doing that.
She studied.
Yeah, she studied them well.
She's just excellent.
Well, it goes back to that point.
This conversation, I feel like I've been having it a lot, right?
So Jamie Costa, Josh Robert Thompson to me are actors who can embody people, right?
That's essentially what she did.
Like if she was on this show and you didn't know who she was and she started doing that,
same thing that she did.
Oh, she does a great impression of her.
No, she's becoming her.
Right.
And that's what the difference between like the acting and there's nothing and people are like,
what's wrong with impressions?
Nothing at all.
Nothing.
At all.
I do tons of stupid impressions, right?
And there are other people who do great impressions, but there's impressionists and then there's actress, and that's clearly what she did because she studied it, learned it. That's what Jamie does.
Jamie studies and learns the person's mannerisms.
How she mimics her voice in the way that she's moving her mouth.
It's just a masterclass.
She's unbelievable.
It's really good.
And yeah, with the noms, it's a good time to watch so that you can get excited.
The Globes are, I think, the second week of January.
I got beef with your last pick, but go ahead.
Yeah, I have beef with my last pick, too, man.
I stayed up for three hours to watch Harry and Megan last night
So that I can talk about it on this show
There's only been three episodes
I watched all three episodes
The last three episodes are dropping later on
Listen, I have never paid attention to the Royals at all
I don't know anything about the Royals
I know less about the Royals than Megan apparently knew about the Royals
I watched the Crown that's as much as I know
I saw this was coming to Netflix and I was like
Okay I guess I'm gonna do my
job and watch it. I found myself fascinated with it. Yeah. I'm watching it and I'm like,
wow, this is like some, for lack of better words, this is some fuck shit. This is like,
this is interesting. And it's not, isn't it just their perspective, their side of things? Yes,
which is why you can't take it as like fact. Because I, I like her less and less these days.
Because you know, you also know, well, you remember that I knew her. And she was married when she was on
suit. Oh yeah. Yeah.
She was married to my friend.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And she was very nice to me when I met.
That she comes up on the show.
Yeah.
Oh, does it really?
Not who, but just the fact that she's previously married is a thing.
And I don't want to get too into it because of respect to him.
But like I, but what I was, she was very nice to me.
I met, I mean, when I met her a few different times, and she was, she was very nice.
I can't say anything.
I just don't like the way that all went down with them.
That's all.
I'll say on it.
But, and it just, I just had my opinion on her through that.
And then other things start coming out.
And I'm like, that's kind of reminiscent.
to what's going on here.
I totally feel you, and this is a very one-sided telling.
They do have a ton of people on the show.
Like, it's so weird.
Like, I think Serena Williams showed up.
Like, there's all these people talking to the camera,
and it's interesting.
But more so than about them,
since I don't know anything about the royal family,
they're talking about things that I don't know anything about.
Right.
Like, they're talking about history,
and, like, they're talking about,
their history with slavery. They're talking about their history, like the Royal's history going back
years and I love historical pieces. And so learning about this through the lens of the two of them,
I actually think it's very well done. Again, one-sided, for sure. Wouldn't take this as fact.
But if you're looking for like an interesting docu series, I went through three hours.
So that's, those are the picks guys. You got Harry and Megan on Netflix. You got the dropout.
on Hulu.
Yep.
Gossip Girl on HBO Max.
You on Netflix.
You, you.
The show's called you.
And Ramesh.
Romish.
Ramesh.
Ramesh.
Yeah.
Rang a Nathan.
Ranganaathan.
Thank you.
The cynic, also on Netflix.
So go ahead and check out all those picks.
Again, we're so thankful for Roxy for putting the time and the work into watching all
