These supergirl reactions are in from last night as we were asking about it. Man, they ranged different all over the place, all over the place. These reactions are going. So what is it going to be? Is it going to be good? Is it going to be bad? What are people going to think about it? How is it going to do?

Overall, we will discuss. campaign for the movie has gone up a little bit more. Originally it was I think it I said 50 to 60 million but it's now around 100 million. So what does that mean as far as the overall box office goes?

And that's probably my favorite movie of his. And I just asked, I asked you what not your favorite is. I go, what do you think is his best movie? What do you think is your favorite? Right. His best movie? Yeah. I mean, if you're just in terms of everything, I'd say T2.

I would say T2. But really? Yeah, T1 to me is the, is everything movie making and original science fiction should be. It just, it was perfect for, I mean, I mean,

I love T2. I mean, T1, I think, I love the old schoolness of it. I love the practicality, like that scene where he's cutting his eye and like just how they did that on set. Fuck you asshole.

T2 just what that did. I mean, we remember seeing, that like there's a few moments in my life where seeing a movie you realize something's changing and watching that T-1000

it's like watching the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park you're like something is changing in movies this is us watching it happen I don't think we'll ever see that in our lifetime again I don't disagree with that I think it was game changing there's no there's no doubt about that if you're asking what's the most game changing movie he did I just mean he's at the height of his

stardom planet Hollywood just everything that was like Arnold and it's a phenomenal movie. It's not just like, oh, it was good. It's great. I think that most people would choose T2. I think a lot of people, and some people would have total recalls

I'm seeing popping up on the list for people too. A predator is up there for me. I see predator, that's a, like, was it you and I or maybe? We were talking about the B movie, yes, sir. Yeah, the B movie in this stuff, like, that's a B movie. It's a B movie.

Wait, you said it wasn't. It's a B movie with the A movie dressing. Right. But it's a great military dudes in the jungle hunting a robot guy in a suit. It's great. It's a B movie but with A level star and a little package for sure. Yeah, yeah, of course. I mean, look, do you know how the premise came

about? I feel like I do, but I don't know. Enlightened me. So Rocky 4 was a major movie and everyone was like, and one of the big jokes was, well, there's no one else for him to fight. Who's he going to fight now? An alien? and they ran with that and Joel Silver, Joel Silver came,

they'd come up with the idea and then they basically took it to, to Arnold, and they said, Arnold, you know, we want you to fight the alien. And he's like, yeah, but I don't want to do it myself. I have to have a team. Must be a team, yeah. And that's what they did. And they put together a team.

They got John McTiernan because John McTiernan had, I think he did that one first, and then he went up doing diehard with Joel. Yeah. So, yeah, I love programming. Yeah, it's great. But as far as best movie, I just think that what James Cameron did with the first Terminator was just really special.

I mean, you can look at it now that the things dated. But I mean, he made it for like $13 and, you know, and a pack of gum. Right. Okay. Now, would you say that Terminator, the first one, is a B movie? You could make the case for it because of what, the way that it was. built, but it's a weird thing.

It's a weird. That movie could have easily shifted into the B thing, but it got picked up, you know, because Cameron was not a huge director at that point, but it got picked up. They pushed it around. They got, they had Arnold in it.

But that easily could have been on the shelf as a B movie. And it could be the end of the Terminator franchise. But yeah. So I would say Terminator. But I wouldn't, I wouldn't, I'm not going to argue with you. If you would have said Eraser, I would argue with it. But if you, if, no, I didn't, you just is your favorite.

I'm my favorite. It's my favorite. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, yeah. I mean, I would say, I would say Terminator or Terminator 2. The only thing I would say with Eraser is I think that was his last big Arnold movie, like where he had the power and it was his, his thing. Because it did incredibly well, but after that, just he couldn't recapture that magic. No, it's hard. The landscape had changed. It was different. Last on that on that level. My dad always to say, you only last. at that level of stardom for so long. You know, there's very rare people.

Tom Cruise is one of the few people that's really been able to sustain. It just doesn't. And he's even had his values. Yeah, and he believes the same thing. So anyway, and it does, you know, what you're talking about with T2, and it's kind of what I want to go into, because we're going to talk about Supergirl stuff here in a second.

And there was a, I don't know, I was thinking about this this morning because you just mentioned T2 and said how it was just special, right? And there are just not, movies, there's just not a lot of movies where you're walking out of going, that movie was special.

I felt that way about, Toy Story 5, but I haven't walked out of a movie recently. I mean, different experience with like the, the Furious, but that feeling of just like,

oh, like, that was a, a special movie. And I think that all of the blockbusters should be shooting for that and they're not. They're just not shooting for that. They're shooting, you know, just, and I know you've seen He Man 87 times, but you found it enjoyable. That movie's not special. It's just a, you know, there's, there's no. In what sense? Like, I mean, like, generic, the same shit. You've seen it a million times over. Something you walk out and you're going, because that's my problem over and we'll get into with Supergirl, right? Because I will tell you this, Because I liked the movie more than I thought I would, and it was a different tone than I thought it was. Milly Alcock is great.

But the movie, you've seen it a thousand times, you see the way that it's shot, everything else, too. There's nothing really special about it. It's forgettable. And it's just, and it's short. It's an hour and 47 minutes. And that's, I don't think it's an hour of 47 minutes that needed to be. I think that sometimes an hour 47 is like they didn't really have anything else to do here. They could have expanded on it because the stuff that works with Millie Alcock,

and the stuff on Krypton. Because I don't, you can't really, the non-spoiler embargo doesn't drop until tomorrow. So I can't really get too in depth with it. But there's a lot of stuff that really works. This is David Krumholtz. Is that, is that the, his name? Yep.

He plays her dad. And the moments with them are, those moments are special. But they, there's just so much of it that's just so generic and like you've seen it a million times over. And that's not what D.C. needs at the moment. They need special.

I don't know, man. I disagree. You don't think you think generic movies is okay? Generic is not the right word. I think we have reached a point and someone on Twitter made a really good thing. They kind of quote tweeted your out of the theater reaction. Because like look at Thunderbolts. That was a really good movie.

Was it special? No, it wasn't special. Didn't do anything. But it was different. It was different. But it was. and I'm not using this word to be negative. It's run of the mill.

We just go, you see something cool. Like you saw something different. The villain was different. Like, but it didn't change the game. It didn't change the game. It didn't. That revolutionized superhero films. That movie is more memorable to me than this movie, though. We're going to, we're reaching a point now where, like, okay, name the two,

give me two of the biggest superhero. films of the past five years in your opinion that stick out right now i just said it what came to mine 2020 yeah really good shit 2021 the bat man the batman the batman is probably one um you said how many two two the batman and then i'm going to look into my i got to go into my ralodontas mine mine are no way home and daredevil and wolverine and both of those films i would do the batman and no way home Both of those films would never have been what they are without the nostalgia, the bringing characters back that people wanted to see.

There are these event films that needed something. Like people are talking Doomsday. Yeah. You're bringing back James Mars and the Cyclops and all these characters. Like that's an event. Not every superhero film can be that or needs to be that. Sometimes you just want to go and pick up an issue of a comic and watch it on screen. It's true.

The problem is the problem is if your budgets, if you're giving it yeah no way home level budget where you're like fucking hell you gotta make a billion dollars just you make any money like yeah it's just that's the problem I think that there's also it's just that we're we're so like you know deep into this now

because the comic book genre has been thriving since really 2008 2007 whatever it's been thriving and it's just so much of it now that it's it unfortunately needs to be a little bit more special not for people like you because you're gonna go see and like you said you can throw popcorn in your and go, well, I had a good time. It was fun. I moved on. But for other people, in order

for it to really stick, you've got and want people to go out and see it, you've got to make it a little bit more special. Again, using that word because this movie, Mike, this movie's not going to do well. It's not. Okay. Well, it's not going to do well. It's going to, it's going to do, you know, we'll talk about the opening weekend projections and what, what they're saying, but like, it'll be lucky to break even, especially with the, new marketing thing. Because I, look, I went and I saw the movie in a, in a screen, a whole bunch of critics. And I was the one going, I don't know if I'm going to dig this.

And I probably liked it better. They were raving about how much they hated it. I couldn't believe how much they hated it. And I was, that shocked me because I didn't think it, I didn't think it's a hateable movie. And then it's a bad movie. I just think it's a movie that you just go, oh, that was a movie. And then you go, what's coming out next?

And she's great. She's phenomenal. she really is but um let's see what other people said because because that was what i was curious about i was curious if they were going to keep moving on um with i don't get rid of you perfect all right so let's let's bring this up because i want to talk about the reactions that came from the i guess the premiere was last night too the other thing um okay so supergirl post premiere reactions is i didn't realize the premiere was last night a total blast and great to dull and unful Underwhelming. First Supergirl reactions were largely positive, though there were also more criticism than we typically expect in the first wave of enthusiastic verdicts from Junkett Press. Since then, we've continued to hear from members of the press who have seen the movie in advance, but a wider range of critics have chimed in following last night's premiere.

The vast majority of these opinions come from Rotten Tomato Pro critics, meaning they'll be contributing to all-important percentage score when the full review of Argo lifts on Thursday. Let's see. Um, Zach Pope. I love Maliaqaqa as Supergirl. Sadly, I only liked Supergirl the movie. Tons of highlights, but barely scratches the surface of Woman of Tomorrow. Guardians of the Galaxy light needs Mad Max. Fun, sure, memorable, kind of Lobo, awesome. I wanted more, though. Okay. Jenna Anderson's Supergirl surprised me in ways that I'm so excited to unpack for the foreseeable future. It's such a fascinating sister story of Woman of Tomorrow echoing some things while carving its own spunky path with others. D.C. Film news. Milly Alcock soars. She simply is Supergirl. Messy, brash, full of heart. The film's best moments are the quiet, tender beats between her and David Cromholtz, Zorrell. Without that, the emotional core, Zorrell's journey, wouldn't land the way it does. Hunter Bolding, Supergirl is simply fine. Does the job of introducing the character but feels a bit off, whether that's poor choices in the soundtrack or just a feeling of bloat in the story. Milly Alcock does admirably, but there's nothing here that really feels memorable. The holophile, Supergirls below average, Guardians of the Galaxy movie, a community, a community. committed million alcock can't save a movie devoid of wit charm and visual flare the flashbacks are strong and everything with superman's great but between mad max for mad max fury road rip-offs dull visuals and thin up thin something does he say thin plot there's disappointingly little to enjoy uh let's say there's tons of these let's see Courtney Howard supergirl is a total blast leads with heart heart and smarts classic awesome and audacious of true grit mad max fury road uh let's see Grace, unfortunate. She didn't have to give her full review. Let's see, Eric Goldman. Supergirl is just okay.

Craig Gillespie, who's made several things I like, doesn't really mesh with the material and not enough of the action scenes fully come to life. On the other hand, there's some good character moments, flashbacks included, and Milliancock is great. Movie file, Supergirl's mediocre. So, I mean, it's tons of these key effects. Oh, wow, Supergirl's emotionally heroic.

So, I mean, make it look. It looks, it looks like a little. So, wait, so it's all over the fucking place. There is no. Yeah, no. It doesn't seem, it's. That's life. That is,

that is you take 10 people to 10 movies. You'll have 10 different reactions. That's life. Well, I don't know about that. See, what the problem is that I'm seeing in the chat, people are like,

brand new days made 50 million in pre-sales. Superhero fatigue is not dead. You cannot gauge the interest in superhero movies on a fucking Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man, Batman. Those two movies will always do well. Always. It's a powerful IPs. Right.

So it doesn't matter. are super heroes films are not in a good space right now they're not what they were 10 years ago we are not it doesn't it's it's a used to be there's a new movie out continuing the whatever the the the lore is it could be great let's go see it that there was an excitement and and the genre itself was popular you are not wrong when it's like okay spider man's popular uh batman is popular and so those things are going to thrive but yeah where i disagree with you is that you know a lot of times you'll see movies that come out and critics will go and you'll read a lot more positives than split. It's better to have split than all negative. There's no doubt about that. But,

but DC second movie, like I said, many times before this came out, they needed more than split. They needed overwhelmingly positive right now because. What can I tell you? I don't fucking know. I'm just telling you. Not my money. Well, but that's, see, I hate that argument. I hate that argument of like, why do people care about box office? Why do it? Because if you, because if these movies don't do well, in the same way,

you love Keman, you have Keman, right? There's a potential. But I'll tell you this. I'll tell you this. We're going to talk about this. He man, I guarantee we'll have a sequel.

Maybe not a box office movie, but it will get a sequel because. And Roker brought up the reason why. It's a vastly different thing now with, and that's could be because it's Amazon, WB and Paramount, that's not Amazon. Right.

And there's also, and I didn't know this until yesterday, who Roko told me, apparently Jeff Bezos is a major master's universe fan. So yes, when you have Papa, giving all the money, then, yeah, of course that's going to happen. But you needed it, you know, in order for it to really succeed,

you should be rooting for the box office on these things. I never, I never understood that when people were, well, why do you guys care about the box office? Because I want to see another one. And I want to see more people, you know, because they'll cut costs on certain things and certain actors won't pull back. Okay. But then like, okay, so then look at this.

I talked to someone, what do you, what do you think, in your honest opinion, was WB Paramount happy with Superman's box office. I do. I do. Because less than six months later, or a year later,

they're filming a sequel. I do. They're gangbusters on it right now. There was a bunch of, I don't know, like, if they have three brain cells, I'd be surprised of these people on Twitter

that were saying, crazy daughter of, hey, thought that Supergirl, or that Supergirl Superman needed to make a billion dollars, and that's what they thought it was going to make.

It was going to make a billion. No one said that, you fucking moron. What I said was that you can guarantee that when they were aiming around going, look, this would be great because everybody was kind of hoping the Superman would be the biggest Superman movie ever. It wasn't. Man of Steel was, right, as far as box office goes. And they were hoping that it would be.

Of course they would. You shouldn't be in the power seat if you don't hope that Superman is going to make a billion dollars. But it didn't need to make that to be successful. people kept bringing it up and and I and it's so stupid about that whole thing is I was I initially started that whole conversation with the defense of it because they had when when Netflix looked like they were going to get uh Warner brothers they were asking yeah Sarandos about about Superman he had he had the way that he had hinted at it is that

that the money that it made was a disappointment or whatever whatever whatever I don't remember the wording of what he said whatever it was he wasn't saying that it lost money And that's what people were looking at. Oh, Ted's Renner's just said it lost money. No. He basically saying what I just said there was they're aiming for a certain number. If it doesn't hit that number, whether it's 800, they aimed for 800. But they still made money.

They're like, look, we didn't lose money. We made money. And you asked me that movie made money. Yes, it was successful. The movie was successful. It made money enough for it to, if it wasn't in the same way that you just brought up, they couldn't go in green light a second one. It wouldn't make sense.

but they said at least this one made $630, $640 million. That's okay. That's enough for us to try. Let's see up a second one. Maybe now, because it did very well on digital and it did very well for HBO Max. So now those people are like, you know what? I missed this in the theater the first time. Now that makes sense to make manna tomorrow off of the success of the sixth third.

So 100%. Yeah, I mean, and again, I don't like, I don't, let's say Super Bowl, doesn't make its money back. But then you got Clayface coming out, which costs, what, $60 million to make? And if that makes $300 million, then it's like, okay, well, that money kind of helps us move that loss into the win. Like it's, and again, it's, and then the Batman, whether you want to say it's a gun movie or not, you know, it's, what's fascinating to me is all these people and they, the shit I can't stand is they're blaming, they'll blame gun for this. It's not a gun movie. But if the Batman is a success,

but if the Batman's success, they won't blame, they won't say gun, good job, gun. But the transfer, look, the thing is, when I, when I saw the trailers that I saw, it looked like a gun movie. This one didn't feel like a gun movie. I actually disagree with the Guardians take on. I thought that the trailers looked guardians ask, but I didn't feel it the overall movie. There were some similarities, I guess, with Star Lord here and there, but. Sure, sure.

I mean, I saw similarities. And again, that could be just a holdover. But, I mean, you know, it's a fascinating talk. I mean, you know, the bigger conversation could be had. And I see this is a lot of people saying, why was this the second movie? And the reason I think it was is I think there was a very big, we can't do Flash, we can't do Acomman,

we can't do Wonder Woman. And we've got a Batman that's going, but we don't really have, we can't do it. Like, they weren't going to do a Wonder Woman right away. Now would we have wanted it? Because there was still a love for Gal and her films were still so fresh. The Flash were coming off of a bomb.

So you can't do the Flash. No, no, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's a weird. I know, I know, it's tough. Who do you go with? My first day on set, I believe it was team action. And I, I mean, I just hit it off with those two right away. And Mike was there, obviously. And Mike and Shannon didn't know each other at the time yet. So you're well.

Every time their anniversary rolls around, I'm like, you're welcome, Mike. I know. People don't realize that. For people who don't know, Jen introduced Mike and Shannon. I introduced him in Baba. You know, it's weird, but that's what I call my, that's what I call my oldest is Baba. So, yeah, so it's great. It's wonderful to have you because you were actually supposed to be on the show a couple

months ago because you were in New York. I was in New York, but I was so deathly in all that trip to New York. The only thing I made it out of my hotel room for was stand up, and then I'd come right back and go to sleep. Like, no one saw me when I was in town, so it was not. It was not the usual homecoming I normally get. And you were in Brooklyn, right? Yeah.

Yeah, it's harder to navigate. That I didn't see coming. Yeah, that's harder to navigate. Like, there's a straight shot you can get from certain places, but Brooklyn, you know, subways and everything else to get here. But anyway, you want to talk some movie news with us? Hell yeah. I'm excited about Supergirl.

I really have, like, avoided spoilers. You know, like I'm really excited to see what they did with it. I'm not going to lie when they first dropped the trailer. I was like, oh, is this just John Wick? Some people said that they got to hurt the dog. I'm like, I hate movies where they hurt the dog. Oh, I mean, I guess in that, I guess in that aspect, you know, it has a John Wick thing to it.

But it's like, but it's, it doesn't, it's not John Wick. But, yeah. So there's, we can go over the, let's, we'll talk about the, um, the market. I just am saying, though, the minute they were like, we're going to hurt the dog. I was like any rage from her from that point forward, totally justifiable. She could burn down a city and I'd be like, that's fine. That's true.

Mike, you're going, you're going this weekend, obviously, right? Wednesday or Thursday, yeah. Wednesday or Thursday. Okay, Jenner, are you going to see it open weekend? Uh-huh. For sure. I mean, I've been seeing way more movies lately and it feels so good to be back in theaters. You know, like I saw Disclosure Day this past weekend.

What'd you think? Okay. This may make some of the chat turn on me. ready. I just got here. You're just meeting me. Honestly, I thought it was the meaning that I think I took the meaning from it that I needed in the moment. And that is like I, especially like being diagnosed like neurodivergent very recently. It's so funny, the people that I saw it with at one point when she started talking after the burr, spoilers, when she started talking in the alien language and other languages after she

saw the cardinal, they go, Jen, this is what it feels like having a conversation with you. But you liked it? I loved it. I loved it. I thought there was so much heart to it. It felt more like Bridge of Spides than Close Encounters. Like it felt more like actiony than straight up alien movie. And I really, I just, I thought there was just so much heart in that movie. And it examined some really big themes, you know, about, especially around like religion and what it would mean if we, if we were suddenly presented with other forms of life, you know, higher forms of life than ourselves. And I just thought that they did such a good job with it.

Mike, I'm sure is going to just totally torpedo it. I don't think he saw it yet. Have you seen it yet, Mike? Disclosure Day? Yeah. Yeah. Now I saw Masters of the Universe again for a third time. You don't have a punch card, dude.

I got my AMCA list, but like I just, it doesn't. interesting. You'd rather see, you'd rather see Fisto jokes. Hold on. Between that and going Penny Barber's thing, right?

I, I just, I, yeah, I just saw it again. I think it was just, I think it was such a perfect Spielberg movie.

Me too. And it, it just had so much hope and love and care put into it, while obviously still being an alien movie, but I thought that the way

that they, they looked at grief and being able to talk, to your loved ones after they passed was super fascinating. And just like that was like the point of connection she had with people. Like I just thought there was so much going on in the movie that was so layered and so deep. I really enjoyed it.

I was shocked with how like, you know, I don't say polarizing, but it's very split that movie with some people. But I liked it a lot. But, you know, Supergirl is on its way to theaters. And there's been projection because Toy Story 5 already made $150 million this weekend. or 160, whatever it made. And it's, it made 300 overall. It's going to be the number one movie again this week. The question is, what can Supergirl make this weekend?

There's been all over the map of what they've, they've been estimating. So the reports have been pretty crazy. Check this out. So right now, this comes in from Dark Horizons, who says that the Supergirl box office predictions are wild. There's one thing that seems quite clear. No one seems to be sure. how much the Supergirl film will open to this weekend.

The other week, as pre-sales went online, projections had the title aiming for 55 to 60 million domestic opening weekend hall, going by the early sales figures. Now several industry box office prognosticators have offered quite different takes on where they think the film will land with tracking numbers ranging from as low as $39 million to as high as $58 million. Box Office Pro, Box Office Theory, and Pucks Matthew Bologna have also offered different takes on what they think the final number will be,

but one thing is consistent, and all seem to be suggesting a lower number than originally projected was somewhere around the 50 million mark being settled upon average. The talk comes as the 175 million budget film premiered the other night, and while reviews aren't out until tomorrow, early reactions have gone online and appears to be mixed positive. Praise is high for Millie Alcock's performance and the Krypton elements, but less for the story and other characters. A piece of deadline is also going to the 80-plus sponsors tied with the film to those companies delivering 100 million plus in media value

with purchased advertisements, retail store space, as well as campaign digital and linear impressions. Those deals suggest the film may not have to make that much in order to achieve break even. Yeah, that's interesting. Mike, you hear that, you hear those numbers. You hear the marketing stuff behind it. I know you said beforehand, who cares, not my money,

but you know, you want to see a second one. So you're hoping that it's going to do it. Well, hold on a second. Hold on. Do I want to see a second one? Oh, okay. Not really. Like, I mean, I know I'm a DC guy, but like, I don't follow Supergirl outside of I love woman of tomorrow, the storyline. Like, I've never read a series of her.

I've never picked up every month of what was Supercomic. Like, I like the character because it's a DC character. Like, if this is a one and done, that's cool because she's popping up in Manna Tomorrow. And they're saying, and people are loving her. I think with these movies, too, like, I look at Superman. And there are things in it that. I do love and things I don't like, but I love him as Superman.

And I think a lot of audiences, whether they like the movie or not, no one can argue that the casting was wrong. Like, they love him. And they're excited now, the hype now that people are discovering it on streaming. And like, like, you know, I use this analogy all the time of Batman begins.

Right. Like that movie, guess how much it made theatrically? And it's run. Batman begins. Worldwide or domestic? Total. 300 million.

Yeah, I think it was a lower 300 million. Yeah. Worldwide. That's a bomb. No, it's not a bomb. I know it didn't bomb because it costs whatever to make. But if you look at people talking, you know, it's Batman. It needs to make a billion dollars.

But then look at the dark. But then Batman was a joke at that point because of Batman Robin. Dude, and that's exactly what DC was before Superman. A joke. It was terrible. It was a bomb. The DC universe was dead. There was no DC.

It was dead. So to see these movies come back, Like, but then the dark night. And again, this is before people knew Heath Ledger was the Joker. They didn't, let me have the Heath Ledger. This is going to be terrible. He's the Joker. This looks like shit.

His face is painted. What? Movie comes out billion dollars over billion. Like these movies have to build like people, whether you like this Supergirl or not, they're waving about her as Billy Alcott. Let me stop you right there. Let me stop you right there.

Take my fucking line. So I, um, the difference between Batman begins and Supergirl is that Batman began. I'm not comparing the two of them. I'm not comparing the two of them. I'm just saying to build if it's not good or not memorable. You can't Batman Begins was so great. People were, people didn't go to the theater because like, oh, another Batman movie. And then they heard how great it was. And yeah, and then it carried on. But it didn't. No, I'm just thinking. I was listening. I was listening to you guys talk before before I came on. And like the thing that I thought was interesting is just talking about like the build, right? And how all of these these superhero movies all feel the same.

And I actually think DC is going for something different. I know they are just because I've been working on some things that I'll talk to you about at the later day, Christian, and I'm really excited about. But I know that they're going for different things right now. And they're exploring darker things. Like, I'm really excited for Clayface. Me too. They are trying to not make everything feel the same. And so it's like, it's that how do we put our stamp on it and still make it feel different?

is like kind of what they're really examining right now, you know? Yeah. But, Chen, I think that's the problem, though. I think this movie does it. I think they attempted to do that, but I don't think this movie does that. Where do you think they missed? I haven't seen it again. You'll see a lot of fight scenes that you've seen before.

You've seen a lot of beats and story beats that you've seen before. You've seen a generic villain that just doesn't play. The stuff that works, the different stuff is, you know, obviously you're always going to get a different thing, depending on who your actor is and what she does and what she does. How was Lobo? Did they do him right? I thought he was pretty good.

I thought he was, I thought he did. I mean, it's Momoa. Moa was just cool. I think he's better. You know, I've worked with him, right? No, for which, for which movie? I met him in like 2012 when I was working for Spike TV and I had to do,

I was doing this show where I would go bowling with celebrities. Oh, that's cool. And I was covering, was it Conan? Is that what he did, Mike? I'm sure you would know right, Conan. So he did Conan and he showed up to do press with me. And I think it just come from like a bender. Like he showed up in a leather vest with a bowler hat on.

I don't think he got the memo of what was actually happening that day. But he was down to play. He was so fun. He was so fun, but he is exactly. That guy. yeah he's that guy like he was probably when like when you think of who lobo should be it was jason mowler showing up at 9 a.m yeah i think he's better suited for lobo than he was aquaman um yes yeah totally and i and so he works but someone said it in the in the chat it's it's an average

movie with some she's got a great performance with it he's good but the movie's fairly forgettable and i think that they just need a little more than that right now but i mean i I saw someone in the chat say something that the marketing's been mid. The marketing may be mid for dudes. As a woman who has felt largely misunderstood and, like, kind of as the outsider, I like kind of the anti-hero vibes that they're giving in a lot of the ads, you know, that she's not the perfect thing because, like, that's the thing that I love seeing in female leads is I like them to, not have to be perfect.

Like, I feel like Galga Do's Wonder Woman was so perfect, you know, like, and that's attuned to the character. But, like, I like how gritty and kind of how, like, my, like, we're not the same, you know, because... She does that well. Yeah. I love her in House of Dragon, and I can't wait to see how

she portrays this, you know? She's, she's one of the shining parts of it. She's, she really is. She's great. And I like her in House of the Dragon as well, and I thought she really shines in this movie. We'll see. We'll see.

Maybe that number projects stronger. Someone said they're selling to men. They're not selling to men. They're selling to emo, to former emo chicks. I think, I think that's going to be, I think that's the major issue.

I think you're right. I think they are going after them. And the problem is, I don't think in the way that women went to see Barbie, I don't think women are going to support this movie the same way. But that's what's been interesting about the press rollout for this thing is, like I saw Jeannie Bus posting about this. like the ultimate girl boss,

like the owner of the Lakers. You know what I mean? Like I'm very curious about the people they're going after in terms of partnerships in pushing the movie out there. You know, like, okay, like I see this. I'm looking at the chat. They need to sell the men.

They need to this like, you know what? Maybe they don't. Maybe this is a superhuman. Maybe this is a superhero movie. Hold on, but let's look at, let's look at the demographics. And let's look at, let's say that they get their polling. And they, I don't know studios, all this bullshit. But what if they're,

saturation with women and scores with women scored incredibly high. Like maybe they like, well, we didn't make the money we needed to make, but we're actually getting women interested in these movies. Like to me, and they're like, Supergirls will flop,

it's the O.A already. Like, fuck off. Like, like people like that that come in, they've got their little misogynistic bullshit views because they didn't like what Mali Alcock said. But like the thing with when she was talking, every time a guy opened his mouth,

they're proving her right with what they were saying. It's like keep talking, keep doing your videos and your shit. You're proving her right. It's funny because every woman in the comments is like, yeah, this movie was marketed towards me. And it's okay for something to be marketed towards women. Even if it's like I feel like if it's got to be marketed to men or if you feel, it's like the people that think everything on the internet has to be for them.

I saw something I didn't like on the internet once and I just kept scrolling. Yeah, but you know, here's the thing though, Jen. I think that there's a lot of truth to that, but I also think in a business side of things, when you're making a movie for $175 million, unless that may, I don't think Barbie cost that much, but unless you really have to, in a comic book genre, you have to make sure you're marketing. If you're going after a majority of women for that movie, you've got to make sure your marketing is perfect, that you're making sure that women know to go out and see it and make an event that mothers are going to take their daughters to, and it's going to be that kind of thing the same way Barbie was.

That's why it was a success. And this movie is not doing that at least as of yet. And that's why you maybe have to go towards. And if you're building out the DC universe, connecting it to Superman to those, you would say that Superman wasn't marketed toward women. It was marketed towards everybody inside who wanted to see DC movie. And it's a continuation kind of to the next character inside of it.

I think you've got to market towards both in this movie. Yeah. I know. But I also look at the way that many of these sites that have, like these sites that have a lot of traction and whatnot. And I've even seen some of the big movie sites. And there was that they posted these pictures of her from a trailer shot. And you take any one of us and you pause a video once, you can make an ugly face with one of us.

But then that's the picture of their article. Like it is, it sucks. And that's that kind of bullshit that peripherates through social media. And then that shit gets out there. like it's you know that again has nothing to do with whether it's a good movie or not it's people's opinions on talking points and actors and actresses it's like yeah that's that part of it that part of it's the shit let me ask you guys this when was the last time you walked out of the movie oh man probably with probably with ellis um we have we have an infamous story we we don't know

the story ex in the city too really yeah we went we we went and saw we B. We lost it. There's actually a really funny bit. PILD, if you can get it, I don't know if you can get it from the Schmo's thing, but like the bit at the end with the Fazi,

the Fazi and the Waka Waka thing, we cried. It was the one, we were crying laughing because what happened was, we went to the Grove. It was before we even got screenings. And we did like double or triple movies at the Grove so we could see all the movies and review them.

And we go in, and I don't know what we'd seen beforehand, but then the next one was Sex and the City. We're up on those balcony seats in the grove. Like the two angry Muppets. 1,000. And so he takes off. I don't know where he is.

And I never checked my phone. And I'm like, you know what? And I look at my phone and it's got a message from him. It goes, get out of there, man. Get out of there. I just bailed. And then we just left it. We did the review of it.

And it was quite hilarious. But that's the last one. I kind of really remember walking out of, to be honest. I walked out of a movie recently. Why? You don't want to tell us? And listen, it was one of those ones where the marketing for the movie and what was actually playing in theaters was completely different. Go ahead and guess.

Let me guess. So the first question I asked, was it within the last three months? Yes. Okay. Well, it wasn't Master's in the Universe because you would have brought that up if it was. It's good, Mike. You want to get? I don't know. I'm trying to think that the marketing.

marketing was wrong back rooms no no hold on i feel so guilty okay for walking out of this oh i know what it is i know what it is i know what it is what is what is what is it oh i don't know i haven't even seen devil wears product okay i don't know what is it i don't know what is it because i love boosters what is what is that You don't know what that is? No, I would have walked out of it too. The new Boots Riley movie. I don't think anyone's going to judge you on that.

Oh, I would beg to differ. There were, first of all, there were so many people that walked out of my movie. I love boosters, yeah. It was, it was, so it was marketed. I went back, it was so different from what the trailer was that when I left the theater, I went and I rewatched the trailer to make sure I wasn't. high when I watched the trailer. Oh.

Because it was so different. And, like, it was marketed, like, as, like, a heist movie. And I just, I wasn't as familiar with Boots Riley's game, you know? And apparently, like, he does, like, a lot of, like, plot twist and stuff, which is, like, in the middle of the movie, there's just a scene that just, it went on too long. It was super graphic. And I was just like, huh? Demi Moore's in?

Debbie Moore's in it. Yeah. Huge. I went to go see my friend Taylor Page. She's in the movie. And so, like, obviously. I went to go see that. The trailer completely misrepresented the movie.

I was like, fuck yes. I'm down, sorry, I'm allowed to cuffs. I was like, I'm down for this Kiki Palmer, like, Women Power, like Ocean's 11, heist movie and fashion. It was fun and like vivid, like, clueless with like some surrealism. I was down with that. And then, oh, I remember the trailer for that.

Yeah. And I was like, this looks fun. And then I went and Mike, there's a scene that I don't think I can talk about in case people happen to be watching this in the background with like their kids playing. But there's a scene that happens. Hey. You're just like, I know what this man's porn history looks like. Why are you talking to me? Why don't you?

Why didn't you take it personally, Mike? Oh, I'll tell you. Why, Mike? I didn't know there were tentacles to me. AI sluts. AI sluts. What was that? What was that?
