What's up everybody?
What's going on?
Thank you guys.
Hey, look at this guy.
Thank you guys for showing up for the non-spoiler review that I did of the Snyder Cut.
It's a lot of fun.
I mean, shoot, for a non-spoiler review, I thought it was going to be like five minutes,
I went up on almost 25 because there's just so much to talk about it,
a non-spoiler review.
And I said, I got to do a spoiler review.
And I have to do a spoiler review with somebody that I know really knows the material very well that was excited about it.
and I haven't really talked to about at all.
And that's Mike the killer Kalinowski.
He's here with me.
Obviously, if you don't watch the Sith Council,
we do a show every Wednesday morning that we do.
So you should check that out.
It's our Star Wars show.
But Mike, you've been, you've been forward to this cut for a long time now.
So you got a chance to see it.
You spent all.
You shoot, you spent eight hours watching.
I did. I did.
God, it's so funny that we're here together because you invited me back on Collider
to review.
It was like, me, you, I want to say Schnapp and Riley.
What we review of the original?
The original.
Oh, okay.
It was the four of us back in November 2017.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
So it's funny.
Here's what I said about the 2017 version when I was talking about it on my non-spoiler.
I had said that I liked a lot about the 2017.
And as I watched this movie, I realized that the majority of what I liked about the 2017
was all the stuff that he already had shot and that he already had in.
there because the through line to this story, it's all there.
Like, and that's the beauty of talking about the spoiler side of it is that right away when
it starts, I mean, you get rid of that silly mustache nonsense with the, with Superman flying
video camera and cell phone thing.
Dude, the second that starts in that movie, you're, you're just thrown out of it immediately
because she's like, what's wrong with his face?
And now this is like, okay, this is Bruce Wayne going on his recruiting mission, all these things.
and you see like he's got this, well, it starts off with the scream of Superman.
I mean, just that right there, like it ties it into the first to BVS, like BVS tied into Man of Steel.
Yeah.
Like when they start off the, you know, the man as Superman is attacking with Metropolis with Zod.
So it's BVS.
This starts off with the death of Superman and that scream, which is brilliant.
It's really good idea to, and which plays later in the film.
It does.
It's funny because we can, we'll be jumping around a lot.
We're not going to necessarily have to go chronologically.
But like what,
one of the things that I said is that I actually think,
even though BVS is obviously the second,
the next movie we see Superman in,
right,
Man of Steel,
I feel this is more of a direct sequel to that movie than even be,
Batman or Superman was like the music way that it's tied to this version of it.
From the from the stuff that he went through from the,
the,
the, like you hear the lines from it from his father,
you know,
the stuff he goes through with his mother.
And then obviously the whole,
what happens with the farm,
the relationship with Lois,
you know,
there's,
it's all of that that plays in.
And I think that the subtle,
the way that they use,
and I actually like the score much more in this one.
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah,
it just works so much better.
I'll say this.
I guess I should preface this.
Like originally,
the original one 2017,
I got to see it,
uh,
on the,
on the Warner Brothers lot.
It was just me,
Roxy, Adam, and Johnny from DC movie news.
We got a private screening.
I came out of it raving about this film.
Like, I really enjoyed it.
I collider with you guys. I really liked it.
And it taught me a lesson in the sense that, you know, you get caught up in the hype of a private screening and everything.
And when you step back and watch the film, it was like, wow.
So I really took back and kind of had to own up to go.
And I got caught up in the hype of it.
So now I make a point because I'm not like, I don't review movies for a living.
That's not my thing.
When people do ask me reviews, I make sure I watch.
a film at least two or three times before I give my statement.
That's why I wanted to get through twice to make sure I know what I feel about it,
at least this early on.
But I did have, like you said, there's things I liked in the original.
But now I see it's like, oh, that's, that was all Snyder stuff.
That's exactly right.
When you go back and you watch this, when you watch this version, then you go back
and you watch the other one, you can see how messy the 2017 cut is.
And it's the stuff because I remember, some one tried to call me out on Twitter.
You gave it a high review.
I still give the stuff I liked about.
it a higher review because it ties into what I really love about this version. The stuff is there.
The story is there. It's just chopped to bits in that one where this one, it flows. And you never
feel like you're four hours. You feel like you're, no, you're moving. You're moving throughout the
second this thing happens. The reason why Bruce Wayne is recruiting all, everybody inside the Justice
League makes sense. Each relationship and Cyborg finally gets an actual story. He's not just like the
side character. It's his story. Yeah. I've been trying to talk to some.
people about this without giving spoilers. And like you'd said, people are some people are like,
well, the plot's still the same. It's three mother boxes on earth with step and what's like,
yeah, that's the plot. You know, Lord of the Rings is a couple friends walking a piece of
jewelry across the country. Right. I don't care how simple the plot is that doesn't, it's,
this plot is still there. Point A to point B to point C. That's still there. But that just shows you
the worlds of difference this film is. And the characters, like the characters are 180.
And what's the difference between that and Thanos trying to get the stones?
Someone says like, yeah, so magic stones
versus magic boxes, okay.
So it's the hate that's thrown at it.
But it's, that to me is silly
because you still don't know.
And maybe it did confirm.
I don't know which one came first in the comic books.
And I don't care.
How was it executed?
I don't.
Yeah.
It's executed well in this movie because the other thing is
Steppenwolf is executed way better.
Like when he shows up, he looks better.
Yeah, go ahead.
Like the design.
Like I don't know how we didn't,
or maybe because they weren't far enough in the effects.
We're like,
now we're not going with that design. We're going to make it this design.
And his motivation works. I don't want to say you feel sorry for him, but you just like, oh,
you see where this guy's coming from. He's a soldier. He's a soldier that tried to,
I love this whole thing where we, where he turned on Darkside at one point.
Darkside now is making him paid off. Like I loved that whole angle because that wasn't around
in that other cut. Like, Darks has not even, is Darkson even mentioned in 2017?
No, he's, it's, it's, it's, it's, Steppenwolf is the one that comes to Earth and fights all
the humans, the Atlantic and the Amazon's early on.
There's no dark set in the first one.
Well, no, but he, but Stamville still shows up in this one.
Oh, yeah.
But the reason is not for his domination.
It's to pay off this debt of his boss and his lord that he's scared of.
And I think that that's that to me, that's what makes all the sense in the world because
it also, and you just jump right to it.
The ending of this cut is phenomenally better.
Oh, you let, yeah.
Oh, it's a slop fest in 2017.
team when he's running when they're running after that family in the car is like please be gone and
that stupid thing is gone i couldn't mention i'm i was so glad i was like wait this is a different
ending and superman just comes in dude and the fact when they're like yeah he's scared they're scared
of him that's why they didn't show up that scared of him and he just shows up and you see why because
he doesn't there's not even a second he's just like get lost he's just beating the piss
out of it guy it's incredible i like it's just like to me to jump around like it's like there's not
even no family. There's no people in that town. No. It's empty. And they made a reason that they
went to Russia. Steppen will put it there because it was toxic. That was kind of conductively
environment to survive in. So it made sense that they were there. But you see where,
and I hear the talk. And I don't know. I can't speak to why we didn't did what he did and what they did.
But you see it kind of has like, hey, you could see higher ups go, hey, make this more Marvelite.
Like Marvel. You know, everyone, the DC film, they never save anyone. So what do they put in? They put in a town. And
they show a scene of Superman carrying a building saving people.
It's just like,
it was unnecessary for this.
That wasn't the point of it.
And when you see all the actual connective tissue of why this thing moves,
it makes sense.
And I say the same thing that I,
look,
theatrically,
I don't think a four hour cut can work,
obviously.
But in streaming,
it's brilliant.
It's streaming.
Let me.
Yeah.
So you can test this with me.
Like,
I have to watch those Lord of the Ring films ad nauseum for two or three times a year.
Yeah.
I guess sit down and watch them.
I've always watched theatrical cuts.
It's the same film.
It just moves the story along.
Now I have to watch the extended cuts.
And you watch them and you're like,
and people like,
let's say like Rachel Cushing that love these films.
You want those four hour cuts
because you want all those character ones.
Yeah, sure.
Could this film come down to two and a half or three hours?
Probably three hours.
But let me tell you,
like one of my favorite scenes is early on with Alfred and Bruce
when he's going from meeting Aquaman to getting on that airplane.
That small little scene,
was it two minutes?
Yeah.
But it's, I love that.
like that's the kind of stuff I love.
It also tied into where, and I don't think,
and again, I don't remember the 2017 that well,
but I just,
for some reason, was that scene
when they're walking together
going on the plane? That wasn't in the 27th.
Not in the thing. Nope. What they did is
they went right from him
Aquaman leaving. Yeah, but that thing right
there in 2017, I remember like
Akman leaving and then he's just his face.
He's on the plane and he's shaving. Right.
That's what I remembered. But that scene
when they're walking together,
I have that conversation of like it didn't it didn't work out.
I know that.
That whole thing plays in so much better and works out so much better now.
And then when it gets up to that, there's so many moments.
And the other moment that I was waiting for and hoping, like, please be in this movie.
I'm waiting for this moment.
It was in the trailer and it never cut was when Alfred looks up and it's like,
I thought you would arrive.
And I was like, that's Superman.
And it's not in the 2017 cut.
And I'm like, there is that scene.
I'm like, it's got to be in here.
And it does.
And he shows up.
and Superman's there and basically gets the information for Alvado.
That's where there are.
I'll be there.
And I'm just going to mess stuff up because when he shows up,
it is,
I mean,
it was like two in the morning in my house,
but I wanted to spring out,
get everybody up because I was like,
that's what I'm waiting for.
That's super,
they can't hang with this guy.
Maybe Darkside can,
but Steppenwolf can.
He cuts off like his horn or whatever.
The horn just burns it right off.
It's just,
is it.
He burned it off or one and we cut it off.
I don't remember.
It went off.
And then.
One woman cut his head off.
A woman that when that dude,
when she goes up and you're like,
oh,
she's going to get him.
And here we,
like they use that scene.
We didn't use that scene of her flipping over him with the sword cutting,
but she cut his axe,
I think.
And the,
like Superman froze it.
And then she flipped over him and cut his axe with the,
her thing.
But that same scene was used,
but it's his head being lopped off.
And then it comes to dark side's feet.
And they're just standing in the league standing.
They're like,
nah,
you don't come here.
Not welcome.
Even that.
moment when and by the way who was the like the gwendoline christie type that's uh uh granny goodness all right
i have so many questions for you in this epilogue stuff that i want to know because i understood
everything up until like the the the the epilogue stuff right like there was there was not that i
didn't like it i just didn't understand a lot of it we can get into that in a little bit because
the movie itself um like and even where i think it made so much more sense now of what's what like
they didn't know what was going to happen with superman it was almost like they they they what
was that movie that just came out with Elizabeth Banks, the one that, you're going to schmoat on me here,
aren't you?
Here we go.
The evil Superman movie.
Oh, bright burn.
Brightburn.
Bright burn.
That is almost what it's set up like when they're like, okay, wait a minute.
We're going to put them in the pool and the flash has to do this thing and the flash is running
through and you're like, oh, this could be total bright burn style.
And still, it's still a lot of the core elements and this is the type, like, that's what I really
liked about the 2017 was that scene when they all to fight him.
But it didn't feel as earned as it does in.
this movie. In this movie, it feels way more earned. You feel like, and, and Batman is just,
he's just taking emotional beating after emotional beating and physical beatings because he's
just like, I messed up. I was trying to do this thing in Batman, I was trying to do this.
And I, and I screwed us all. And I got to make it right. And then Clark's like, oh, I'm going to
mess you up now. And he's just like, oh, God, please know. And he's just sitting there. He's like,
because we got the four power beings going after him. And what I love,
loved is, Wonder Woman in the theatrical cut was so against bringing Superman back, you know,
and then they did that whole kind of, with Bruce Wayne using Steve Trevor against her, and you're
just like, ah, this just is kind of weird.
Yeah, I don't remember.
But in this cut, she wants his cut.
She's kind of like, I get, we need him.
But I don't know if this is a great idea, but I'm, I'm along for the ride because we're in
this, we're in this as a team.
And she's a warrior.
She understands, we need this.
And what they did with her, and they tied it back into the stuff, you know, with the
Amazon's and and music I felt was so much better for this cut where it was almost like the the high it's felt
like the Han Zimmer gladiator music you know I don't I don't remember that being in the 2017 now they
he created I remember he's saying for he wanted to embrace what Zimmer did and what yeah because
Zimmer created the Wonder Woman theme but then her Ruper Gregson Williams created the 2017 Wonder Woman theme
but he wanted to use those whereas I remember with Danny Elfman he was just like there is no
Batman theme there's just one Batman theme so he used that his 89 score some of the
And it was kind of like geek and music kind of like goes cool,
hear the music again, but I'm like, this isn't Michael Keaton.
It was weird.
So he's given them all new themes, but he's kind of embraced like hearing Hans Zimmer's
man a steel score, you know, the underpinnings of that every now and then.
Because I also, you know, like the cheap pop if you were in wrestling terms,
when the John Williams thing played so briefly in 2017, I was excited.
But I wasn't upset to see it go in this.
What I loved was the extended version of the terrorist scene.
when one or something's in.
It's more hardcore.
Like when people are asking about like the rated R version, like,
right.
And I,
I will echo the sentiment that I think that if it was a theatrical cut,
I would understand if the studio wanted to push back and go PG-13 for it.
Because it's not necessarily necessary for a PG-13,
but because it's streaming,
I do think it was necessary.
I do think it worked because from the blood,
from the cut.
So what do you?
Because I thought this and I was like,
okay, what got him the R?
It was his head lopped off.
I think Batman's last line in the film with
and then even cyborgs fuck the world.
Yeah, so we had a couple F bombs.
The headlopping got him the R rating.
Well, you do one, I think you get one F bomb and
and they did a couple.
And it was and it was bloodier.
And it was bloodier.
Like even when Stepan Wolf takes the one.
The Amazon's getting.
It wasn't the Amazon.
It was the, oh yeah, that, but when he takes the,
who's, I don't remember the character's name,
but it was one of Aquaman's.
people and he and he and he grows the dude against the rock oh that was just this the foot soldier yeah
well the blood goes flying off the side of his head like the mean that that was happening like that
that alone and i thought that was necessary didn't feel gratuitous to me no and he's and that line
i love that line when he's just like i'll never portray my people is like you already have and he put
it's like that's like he oh when they were out of the water that's right when he was and he put that
spider on his head you know what i think this actually did well personally i think i
think that this was a better, I think Steppenwolf, this version was a better version of Ronan
from Gar, like, oh, okay.
Because Gar, if you look at it, Ronan is trying to do this, this thing and try to appease
Thanos, but in a different way.
Stepmolv, to me, had more motivation than Ronan did.
And Stepmolf to me had, was way more developed in this film.
And you understood why he did something in his past.
He, but, you felt like they betrayed it.
him and they're giving him another shot.
And, and, uh, and what's it?
Starkside's advisor was telling him going.
Assad.
Yeah.
Now, how cool like I, I, that effect of him coming through like the, the mother box
thing.
It was awesome.
It was a crazy as hell.
It was like, it reminded me very Flash Gordon type of technology.
It reminded me a Flash Gordon mixed with like serious black coming out of the fire.
In, uh, in, uh, the Ascabana, I think it was.
Yes.
Yes.
When they're talking to him.
Yeah.
But by the way, so the other thing.
So the other thing was showing that whole scene with, speaking of Lord of the Rings, there was that when Wonder Woman was telling the story of everything that happened in the past.
Yeah.
And then you have this entire, this entire battle, but you see the green lanterns and you see, it was Zeus?
Is that Zeus?
It was Zeus, Ares, because David Thwellis is credited.
So I don't know if he did some motion capture or just his voice was in there somewhere, but he's credited.
It's him.
and then I think it was Artemis was with the arrow.
So that whole scene,
I was like,
this is fantastic.
This was this,
all of that to show.
And again,
when the lanterns were up there and they,
because they had mentioned at one point,
they're going,
there's no lanterns,
there's no ponians,
there's none of this.
And I was like,
now it just,
it felt like to me,
when I used to,
whether it was scanning those,
the old animated shows of DC,
it felt like that.
It felt like,
and it didn't,
and it all,
it all disconnected.
it. Everybody had a purpose and everybody had a reason because Stevenwald had no reason in
in that other one. He's just there's the bad guy. There's the bad guy. Why is the bad guy? Well,
because he looks scary. And they got rid of the whole like with him calling it mother and talking
to it. Like mother will be happy and mother this with the boxes. I'm like, I think that was supposed
to be the substitute for dark side. Like the mother. Originally when we saw it was like,
okay, we didn't think there was any dark side. So it was like, okay, that's it's mother. And he's
referring to mother. Okay. It was
but what was the end goal? I'm like, what is the end goal of that film?
Right. There was no, I mean, it's just so it's just like the, the, the, the typical
villain with no real motivation as opposed to the soldier who's trying to get redemption for
the overall lord. You know he, he let him down and like, and like, in DeSaz just kind of
this minute and he's like, you're not coming back. And then he's like, I've gotten this.
He's like, okay. Yeah. Well, even at the end when he says he goes, I told you you
mess up. And I thought that at that point, Darkstar was going to like, tell him.
him off. He's like, no, you did. You're got to
putts. We've got to figure it out.
And he's because, and
that is why I believe
that this thing's going to get
so much more after
this comes out for people who are watching this now,
you've hopefully have seen
the movie. Hopefully. More people are going to
get excited to see it. You're going to get
it. It's going to be a massive hit for HBO Max.
I mean,
looking back to a year ago right now,
it's like, and I've said this. I said this before.
I know people give Roxy crap
because she was up with you guys.
Like there is no Snyder cut.
It's like,
I never said that.
That's what people said.
For me,
well,
hold it real quick.
So someone asked a while ago,
then Clark Alive,
they were like,
what do you think?
And I just kind of like,
I don't care.
And I said in my,
I said in my review,
I was like,
I was wrong for not caring because my thing is,
I actually think to have this guy's vision out there was much more beneficial
because you see the,
he said the cut.
And someone was like,
oh,
you said it never existed.
I never said that.
Because in 20, in 2019,
when,
when,
when,
when,
when,
Aquaman, you, Mamoa,
and Godot's saying,
release it. I said, look, if they're saying it's out there,
people want to see it, release it.
But they tell you that. They want to take the one, I don't care.
For me, it was always like, I thought it was going to be like a Donner cut,
20 years from now, he was going to revisit it and, you know, do whatever.
That's what I thought, you know.
And then people like the mincewe're like, well, a finished cut is not a cut.
And it's like, okay, here we are.
It's out there.
It's his vision.
Is he had it?
So what if he's adding shots to it?
If he spent $70 million in a shot, it's still a Snyder cut.
It's not like, oh, well, it's not, it's just a new film.
It's not a new film because all the stuff that was already there inside of his vision of what he had in the 2017, the stuff that worked was still there.
They gave him more money to add to it and finish it because he was just ripped off of it last time.
So he put back on it and you clearly see.
I mean, like, again, it's four hours.
And I also push back a lot on people who say, well, it's too long for this and that.
It's on streaming and it's put in parts.
Sit back the same way.
you would watch a streaming television
like The Mandalorian or any of these shows.
You sit back and you watch it per episode.
I could have done that,
but I wanted to finish the whole thing.
It's like, all right, well, it's out there,
but it's four hours long.
It could have been short.
It was like,
you knew a year ago it was going to be four hours.
And Zach's like, he didn't,
he doesn't know what's going to happen after this.
He's like,
and he said,
like, WB's like,
I'm putting everything in that I want.
And they're like, go for it.
So he put everything.
The kitchen sink is in there.
And then there's a thing.
Don't bitch it by.
They want to,
one division they wanted all nine hours at once but they're bitching about four hours with this it's like
and the chapters i think the chapters are brilliant the chapters work because that's why you don't want to
watch it all at once the chapters work so good yeah you take pauses on it and the other thing the movie
itself the full movie itself is like three hours and like 30 minutes or something like and then they
give you all this added a way i look at it is of all the bonus scenes or after scenes instead
of putting in like post credits they just give you like a chunk of them right after them like boom boom boom boom
boom, boom, boom. So the movie itself, you could turn the movie, if you don't want to watch
like the extra scenes and all that, the movie itself 3.30. It's still very long, but it still
works. And I think, and by the way, thank God they took that silly scene out of when it, when Wonder Woman
is falling and flash like lands on her. So unnecessary. It was like, go into that because you, you mean,
now you see the thing of the difference. And I don't know about Weiden and the things from different
product, you know, with the buffy stuff that's come out, but you watch this film.
And I remember getting this, you know, people are talking about like the Amazon's being
sexualized and you talk about the shots of Wonder Woman Gal Cadose butt in her jeans.
And I was just like, I didn't want to believe it because I thought it was Snyder.
I didn't know what was Snyder's and what wasn't, but watching it now is like, oh, it's all
Whedon.
Those shots, those, where Bruce is coming out of his plane with Barry and the thing's lowering and
gal's there, he, the shot is above her waist.
But with Whedon's cut, it was below.
So you saw her butt is like, yeah, it's.
weird like that stuff and it's not Snyder and and even it's funny because i actually did think about
you when i came to like that that it looks it reminded me more of 300 than anything else in this
cut like when yeah in the beginning when when um stepm wolf is chasing them and and the amazon
you just just it just it was a very different feel overall so anyway the movie itself
and all these different spoilers and as we mentioned before cyborg to me out of was the most
developed inside of this version of it because we really feel and understand the relationship
that he has with his father, the moments that he has, the blaming of his mother's passing,
and all that. And then ultimately, and I think that the explanation of side that the mother
box, the transformation, I just picked up so much more in the explanation of why things
were happening in this movie because of the length, because of the connectivity of what this thing
is. So it just, it, it, it, I just never got bored. I was like, I was on the edge of my couch for the
entire time I was watching this time. He, we had Ray Fisher on DC movie news before Justice Lee came out.
And he was such a gentleman, but I was talking to Roxy about this. And I feel so bad now because we were
like, we were talking about it. I was like, oh, do you say boo yeah, do you say this and that?
And he was like, I can't say like, we never once felt anything about what it had like, oh,
something's not right. He's not proud of this film or something. So it was a testament to him. But now to see this.
And I was talking to a friend of mine, an actor, like, imagine working on a film, you know, for so long with the director you love and you're doing this, all this wonderful stuff.
You come in, you get a new complete script, which is 180 from what you just did.
Like, now you see all this thing, this battling back and forth with the cast, like, to see what they did.
Like, I mean, you talk about Cyberg where they talk about he's like the digital god at that one point with, you know, helping that one lady out with the money.
That wasn't in 2011, right?
It was no.
The whole thing with him standing with her with the nuclear arsenal, his dad going, you can change the fate of the world with.
the swipe of your hand. It's like, you see him become this digital god. It's funny because when all
that, because I, when I was watching that in the Snyder cut, I'm like, why didn't I feel this was so
much cooler in the 2017? Because it wasn't in it. That's why none of that was in it. And that scene when
he helps the woman out and he's like looking off to the side and she's just on hard times. And he's
like, boop, boop, boop. You're like, oh, look what he can do. And because he became, he's, he's the
entire lifeblood of this, of this film.
He's the heart of the film.
And that's the heart of the justice league.
And he really is.
And to see what is in the film.
And I'll say this,
like,
for me,
the biggest change character wise was Ezra Miller.
Like,
I could not stand him in the 2017 cut.
Even though I liked the film at the time,
he just,
and I was like,
oh,
we're going to get a whole film of this guy.
But see him in this film,
it's a different person.
Different.
He's not just there for that silly kind of.
And he doesn't have like this.
I think we weren't sure if they were saying,
I think,
I don't know if Ezra came on saying that his,
his flash is kind of on the spectrum.
and I think they were maybe trying to explain the change to the character that let like the whole brunch thing and brunch and what is brunch?
And it's like this doesn't seem right.
But now in this film there's none of that.
He's quirky still.
The brunch stuff goes back to the stuff you were talking about before.
They were trying to make it a Marvel movie.
And it just does the two things don't don't blend because you still had that that type of humor where it, but it was different.
Right.
Like the scene when he saves the woman from Iris.
But when he put the music, dude.
the music there and what he does there and how it slows down but then he and he kind of
touches her hair puts her saves her and then he goes back and then he's playing with the dogs and he's
just like oh so I start on whatever like that that to me is a little joke and it just kind of plays
off to his hot dog when he picks it's like oh no where's this going but then he sees like oh that's
awesome give it to the dogs he didn't eat it I was like don't eat it and then he gave it to the dogs
and it worked yeah and because you're right I think that he worked so much better in this
and even the relationship that he has with billy crud up his dad and they're having those
And I mean, not to say anything.
I don't want to, I don't know what had happened.
But, you know, if people want to bash this film, but I tried to look at the other things like, okay, maybe you think it rewards toxic fandom for whatever.
But look at all the roles that were restored in this film.
Four actors, at least.
So you had Silas's wife, Ray's wife, Cyberg's wife, Ryan Choi, who was the atom, becomes the atom.
You know, at the end, he kind of teases like he's the head of nanotech.
So he's going to be the act.
Adam. You had Iris West and then basically Joe Morton coming back with his role roles.
So those four actors of color that were completely wiped out of the 17 film, gone.
Right. Like not even, not even talked about gone. Those roles restored. So if you're trying to, you know, think about that, that these actors, who's Snyder's original version with these characters.
And he talked so much about the family with Cyborg and the family was the heart of the film.
And the mom was gone in the 2017 version. Let me ask you a question of something that I didn't. One of the one of the things.
in the side of the cut I didn't understand, but it's probably just one on my head.
So when Lois is, yeah, when Lois is talking to Clark's mother and they're having that
conversation. And then that shift changes and she's and she turns into the, it was a
Man Hunter, Martian Manhunter. That was Martian Manhunter? Yeah, with the red eyes.
So wait, so he, so he was the same general from Superman though. Yeah, General Swanwick.
So General Swanwick is Martian Manhunter. Right.
You know, it's funny, they never showed him, they never showed him morphing into Henry, Harry Lennox.
Yeah, I didn't, I didn't catch that part of that part to me.
Because when, when they transfers into us, I was like, well, why did, wait, how did he, what happened?
And he transformed it.
He transformed after he, his eyes.
She walks out of the building with.
And their eyes happy.
Yeah, I saw, right.
But I didn't, didn't he morph into General Swanwick?
Yes.
But I didn't, but I didn't get that that was Martian.
Here's the thing.
Like, it's funny because Snyder.
he'd always said is like my films are it's going to be a five film series man of steel bvests justice
league one two and three so now these things are paying off you watch the scenes in man of steel
with swanwick now where he's kind of at arm's length of him and you're like it makes so much more
sense his place in this role he's like he always envisioned him being martian maniturn and that character
comes from a very similar background with clark where his world of mars was destroyed now i don't
know if in this version it was an alien invasion it was you know genocide or whatever but he is a
last person of his planet. So he was looking at Clark while this world is destroying this man.
They're vilifying him. I'm not coming out. There's no way. Look at the way I look. I can't,
you know, he looks a human. I can't look past like this unless I want to stay like that.
So it was kind of in his kind of little thing at the end was, you know, with Bruce. And I, and I have
say, like that scene was one of my favorites at the end where he flies down to Bruce. And when he says,
let's get into it. I was going to say the epilogue stuff because there's so this we'll start
with that scene. First of all, that was definitely one of the reshot scenes because
athletes looking pretty uh he looked great he looked great he looked healthy he looked like you know he's been he's been he's been good for a bit now and he
he looked great there was rumors that you know he had did some reshoots and that clearly was was the reshoot yeah he shows up he wakes up at
yeah and martian shows up and uh and and talks to him i knew i had heard rumors that the marshal the manhunter was gonna show up
i didn't know until five minutes ago and sorry for being naive everybody that that that's who that that was i didn't
understand that scene it makes sense to me now and i get it and he's kind of having this
conversation. They cheated as if he's going to have another conversation with Clark,
but it's, but it's not. And this sets up so much, I think, into that point of when this thing is
as successful as I believe it will be. There's going to be that call for continuing the, the
I mean, we could talk about that at the end where we think this is going to go because I got some
thoughts on that. But like, yeah, and it's not against, not the thing, but against that. Like,
they just did the red eyes and that's kind of known as Martian Manhunter, the red eyes. But it's a
comic thing. It's in the cartoon, but it's not
a wide thing. It's not for the casual
personally. That's fine.
But him to come down there and the line about
is like your parents would be proud of you.
Like for me, like after all
Batman has been through, like that
payoff for me and he's like I hope so.
Man, that's, what's up?
How does he know? He just know that he... Well, one, he's a
he's a telepath. So he can read thoughts.
Got it. And he's probably been on earth for a while.
So he, I mean,
and again, this is me
extrapolating comic book
lore into this and like knowing
that he's always, all these
meta humans, he knows about them and he's researched them
and in the comics he has files on them and he's
researching who these people are.
So he knows about the Waynes and
you know, anybody's a telepath so you can read minds.
But again, it's not spelled out for you.
So that's for people like me that it's just another layer of awesome.
But I think that that's what this epilogue
is really for. It's for the hardcore
thing. Like here's here's this stuff
that we didn't really get to do all the way through.
our fingers that we will be able to.
Here's some fun stuff to put into, you know,
the after scenes that hopefully can lead to more stuff.
So I had a problem with none of it.
The first, now, and again, I don't remember the 2017 version.
I remember that Joe Mangonello shows up at the end.
Was he talking to Lex Luther?
Here's the differences.
So we get into, like, my one of my favorite scenes in 2017 that I'm very surprised was
Snyder, was Bruce, Alfred, and Diana going back to Wayne Manor
talking about the six chairs with room for more with the big,
table. I thought that was a Weedden thing.
Okay. But that was Snyder. So I love that.
Then we go to the death stroke showing up.
Now the death stroke showing up with Lex, that was a post credit.
I remember a post credit. I just wasn't sure of Lex was that.
The difference was it's the dialogue change.
In the 17, they talk about forming the injustice league.
He's like, we're going to need a team of our own. In this one, they were setting up
Afflex Batman film. Okay.
Because they talk about, you know, Batman is Bruce Wayne.
And he's like, okay, now you got my attention. I'll have that drink.
That was going to set up their.
film. Okay. At the time, they were deep in pre-production on. That makes a lot of sense
on that for sure. So then we fast forward to the dream, right? Now, the dream you're going to have
to explain to me because I still, because I still don't get the entire, I know that I remember
that in Batman, he even mentions it in the- Talks about it. In this Snyder cut, he says that I
had a vision where Barry shows up to me and he told me that Lois was the key and, you know,
it was so real and I love the way that they tied into that. I remember that scene when that happened,
very clear in Batman v. Superman.
But, and then he's even in the jacket,
and he's even, you know, that whole thing.
Yeah.
He's there for all of it.
And now he's running with,
he's running with the,
with Mangonello.
He's running with,
with who and with.
Amera, Cyborg, flash,
stroke and Joker.
There's six of them.
So he shows up.
So what the hell is going on?
Okay.
What's going on?
Originally, well, there's a,
right now in Dallas,
there's a,
Zach Snyder exhibit by AT&T.
It's him and Jim Lee went to
his office of Warren brothers and wrote up
storyboards of Justice League
two and three and Jimley drew key art.
What happens in two?
And this is again, the story's kind of changed
in before this film, Justice League,
Lois and Bruce were going to have a relationship.
They were kind of bonding over grief.
Everything right? With Superman and he had to bring
Lewis and who? Lois and who having a relationship?
Bruce. Oh, really? Okay.
And then that would lead for, he needs
he needs Superman back, but he's like, I love this woman.
I don't want
bring Superman back because I'll lose her, but I need to.
So Justice League 2
would open with the characters
going their separate ways and dealing with their lives
and Darkside then arriving
because he's after the anti-life equation.
And it turns out Lex Luther
tasked the Ridler with solving the
anti-life equation. Bruce tracks him down.
Riddler kills himself. Darkside
arrives on Earth to find the anti-life
equation. And
Lex is trying to talk to him,
but he's like, if you want Superman, the key is
lowest lane. Darkside
flashes to the bat cave and kills Lois Lane
Bruce can't stop him and Superman arrives.
There's dark there's her.
She's dead.
Bruce tried to stop her and Darkside corrupt Superman with the anti-life equation.
Right.
So then it jumps five years.
And it's in this future timeline where basically Flash has to tell Bruce go back in time and
tell Lois because she's pregnant with his child.
It's this massive like it's online anywhere.
You could look, but it they plotted out two and three.
So that all future was, you know, in the first.
Flash had to run back in time and that leads back to BVS.
Right.
It's massive.
It's a lot,
but they do describe what would happen.
And then so there's a,
that's the whole conversation with the Joker.
And there's a whole thing where,
you know,
and,
and I feel like Jarretto's Joker was trying to morph this time
into a little bit more of the Heath Ledger Joker.
He had a couple line,
like,
line deliveries like,
oh,
he sounds kind of like him.
Kind of did.
And the hair's all messed up.
And they,
but they reference and they go back to the killing of Robin on.
Yeah.
Which is the part that I really,
enjoyed it. He's like, oh, watch your mouth with your next words. It's like, oh.
And he's like, yeah, kill me. The whole thing and the creepy.
Harley Quinn is like, if she died in my arm, she made me a promise to kill you. And, you know,
mark my words, I will fucking kill you. It's like, oh, my God. It was great. Like all that stuff.
And I just, like I said, I just didn't really necessarily, not that I didn't like it.
And again, like you'd said, I think Snyder probably at the time didn't think he was getting two and three.
Yeah. He's like, you know what the fans, I'm putting everything I want in there.
WB is letting me, here it all is.
Here's the stuff that I wanted to do.
You can see some of the stuff that I was planning on doing.
Here's some fun with it.
So here it is.
And they do that.
And then he wakes up from the dream.
And that's when Martian comes in.
So,
and was there anything else inside of that that we're missing?
Those are the three big ones.
Yeah.
Those are the three big ones.
But I mean,
obviously at the very end of that scene,
you see Superman kind of flying.
And I think that's when he wakes up.
But yeah, man, I just, I was,
I'm looking forward to watching this thing.
Again, my wife,
my wife watched the first half of it with me
and then she went to sleep, but
she was really into it. She's really into it.
Yeah, I told Shannon, she's like, oh, let's do it.
She was a little upset that I couldn't watch.
She couldn't watch with me, but
she, like the chapters thing will probably work great
for her, you know, that's a kind of thing
for some people like her.
Yeah, when I first said they were going to release it in like parts,
you know, separate parts.
I was like, I'm cool with that. I can watch it every week.
It's cool, but I'm glad that I watched it as I did.
And I'll be honest when I, when I,
when I watched it,
I was like, okay, if I'm if I'm not digging it or from a little bored with it,
then I'll just come back to it and I'll just like out the review later,
but I couldn't stop watching it.
I was like, I want to know how this thing ends.
I want to know.
I'm like, I care about the characters way more than I did in 2017.
I actually, I want to see and I knew that Superman was going to come back because of the 2017
thing, obviously, and I wanted to see how they were going to tie that all together.
And I was missing him way more in 2017 than I was in this one.
And that's not, that that's a compliment to the story.
storytelling more so than anything else because in the 2017, I'm like, oh, where's Superman?
Let's just get him here.
In 20 in this one, it's like they earn it.
They earn it or they earn you saying, all right, let's get them back.
When are they going to get them back?
Well, let's figure out how they're going to get them back.
It's like it's earned.
It was a big buildup to the team.
Like you felt they were working out.
They tried it on their own.
You know, didn't work.
They couldn't handle them on their own.
And like little things for me, like I knew early on there was talk that Wayne Enterprises had
like a hanger and that's where Bruce stored this jet and when I watched the theatrical cut
I was just like how are they in the back cave and there's windows like what is going on here
right so see all that restored do it yeah it's just like well in that relationship that cyborg has with
the ship you know and he's oh yeah wants to fly and like I love the communication that he has with
the machines and and it's like and even and and and you know we're not giving enough love to to to
to memo it right the same the same stuff the woolen defoe stuff and oh yeah and all the like everything
because you got to remember that this takes place before
for the events of Aquaman.
It's funny you say that because for me,
Aquaman was the one,
I don't say I had the hardest time with,
because I really enjoy Aquaman,
that film.
This was supposed to come out before Aquaman,
where now he's embraced himself.
He's embraced who he is,
the protector of Atlantis and these people.
In this movie,
he's still,
and when he leaves on the truck at the end,
he's going to where Aquaman one picks up
to go see his father.
So it's like,
oh, you got to go back to this Aquaman
that still doesn't like people,
doesn't like the Amazon,
the Atlantians.
he's his own guy and living his own life.
And I was just like, oh, you got to go remember.
They take out the stupid stuff with him like being a thief or he steals that thing for Bruce
Wayne's workshop.
You're like, what are you doing?
I think it sets up.
I think it sets up Aquaman, the film.
It really does.
Oh, and with Volku and DeFoe showing up.
It's like, oh, yeah.
All of it.
It's like him accepting and him showing up for the first time and I'm like, oh, you're, you know,
and then having that relationship because you're knowing what happens with Nicole
Kibman and understanding him accepting the stuff with his mother and the way that
they set that up in this, that he still has, he's got that issue, the fact that she left.
And that, and that was also set up well. And I thought that the, I thought that the underworld,
underwater stuff looked way better, honestly, like the stuff that they did when they, when, even,
even when, um, Mara is, is getting attacked by, uh, by Steppenwolf and she puts the,
she puts the water shield up for a second and she's having the coverage, like, all of that.
I think that just, I have to be honest, I played a little bit better in this and it even did
in the Aquaman movie. I was surprised that, that they kept the water bubble thing.
Yeah, like that. Because that was in 2017. I'm,
remember that's like because at the time we're like there we didn't know about aquaman we're like how
are they going to talk underwater they're going to do bubbles or what so when that happened but then
to see aquaman where they just talk normally uh so it was a snider decision but it just i don't
if the effects were worked on or different shots were used it just played a little better what it is
mike they spent the 70 million dollars wisely that's a lot that's that's that's that's the things
why they need 70 million dollars this movie shows you why they need it i mean i'm sorry yeah and
again people want to do like early trailer reactions like don't
Darkside, Steppenwolf, they looked phenomenal.
Like the money's there.
The money is absolutely on the screen.
Darkside. Darkside was set up so great.
I'll be honest with you.
I'm glad that he wasn't in the 2017 version because if he was that sloppy version,
he was kind of wasted that way.
I'd be more bummed.
And this one, this is the first time you see him.
You see the way that he.
And by the way, in that kind of Lord of the Rings scene when they showed all that battle
from years ago.
and they heard him and he hit him in the shoulder and he's bleep and drag him off it's like it was all brutal and um and and even when zeus is firing out the lightning and he and he's screaming after they they were the first like world to fight him off and like all of that was set up so brilliantly that i was just like that was when i really started to go from okay i'm really enjoying this movie to i think that i'm sort of love this movie because right man of steel is still my favorite um well i don't know what's called now the connected dc universe or whatever
I'm trying to, I guess it's going to be Zach Snyder's DC.
Like, whatever, these three films will be that.
Whatever it's called, my favorite is Man of Steel.
It always has been.
The Hans Zimmer stuff, like everything about it.
And I would not be surprised if I watch this, when I watch this again,
that this overtakes it because I feel that.
I praise.
The only reason I say that right now, and I have to go back and watch it.
It could be recency bias.
But the reason I say it is because I was so satisfied with the ending.
And I don't know if it's because I hated this.
the 2017 stupid ending on the truck so much.
And the fact, Superman's my favorite superhero all time anyway.
So, and Christopher Reeve was responsible for that and everything.
But when he comes in here and it's like, it's Superman.
And it doesn't always have to be like, oh, Superman comes back.
And now he's hurt.
He's hurt again.
They're going to get him.
No, he's not hurt.
He's revived.
He's found his love, his mother's back.
And he's going to help out his friends.
And he just smacked that guy around.
Like it wasn't, it wasn't even, it's like, no, there's nothing you can do.
I'm going to, and, you know, and then when they call him over, when cybor's like, Clark,
and he comes over and he helps him out, it's like all of that.
It just worked.
And I think what adds to his fact that they didn't do, and at the time when I saw it, I did like the dialogue of the like, well, you didn't bring me back because you like me.
And Batman's like, well, I don't not like you.
Like, you were laughing at the moment because you caught up him, but now you see, he's like, he doesn't come back to talk.
He's come back to destroy this guy.
And that's it.
And that's, that's to me what, what I really enjoyed about it because like, and it showed when that comment came out recently.
how Warner Brothers was trying to push Snyder to get more humor into it.
He's like, well, yeah, I'll put it in there when it's needed.
Perfect example of that is the, you know, that, that dog scene that we just talked about, right?
Right.
That's so early in the movie and it, and it's consistent to what the character of the flash is, so it's not thrown out.
But like when you throw in a line that you're talking about in the middle of a serious scene, it's like, why?
It's not necessary.
And also, like, like, not thinking about it because it's been a couple days since I've seen it.
But like the flash in the 2017, when, you know, stephole everything's happening.
The box are coming together.
He's sitting there going which way's east, which way's west.
Like, but in this, he gets shot by that blast and then he's trying to run and he's missing.
He's like, I got to do it.
I got to.
And like, you feel the pain of this guy.
It's like, everything's hingging on him hitting the, hitting the speed force and he can't do it.
Right.
You're like, oh, my God, this is all going pear shape real fast.
And he's like struggling.
You're like, folks in the middle of it.
He's like he's in this east.
The league's relying on this guy to hit this speed.
He doesn't.
He's down.
And he can't.
But the fact that, but the fact that they have like, you know, this entire,
they had to work together.
And like I said in the non-spoiler and I said it in skin, it, this movie, the team, they earn it.
They earn the, they earn you cheering for them.
They earn you being invested in them because of the way that Snyder sets up the story.
And the way that it shot through the music.
And his use of music has always been, you know, phenomenal.
And he plays it so well here.
Yeah.
And then going back to what I was saying, like,
I think that because the ending was so satisfying and in the fact that I left it going,
all right, well, what's going to happen now at Darkside?
That to me is a, I like Manne Steele a lot.
I mean a lot.
And I've watched it many times over.
And I do agree.
I think the ending goes on a little long.
It's still fun to watch, but it goes on a little long.
This one to me didn't, if we're as four hours as it was, I'm going.
It moves.
It moves.
It moves.
Yeah.
It's kind of funny because I wanted to see him in that because he's so good in the,
when he does appear.
and they shot him in the red and blue suit.
They shot that at all the set pictures.
They did it so they could change it to black if they needed to.
And he wanted to do it because black.
And in two and three, he would earn the red and blue suit again.
I get that.
But because he's so good, you do want to see that red and blue on him.
Yeah.
You know, it didn't phase me.
And I get why Snyder was doing it because, again, it's his film.
He finally got to do it.
Put it out.
I didn't mind that he was in the black.
I thought it was a good, I think it was a good twist or good change.
Yeah, he hadn't earned what he felt, his father with the hope.
And, you know, all of that.
And he's going to go back and, my wife is going to watch the rest.
You know, we had to go through the, I watched it.
And then when we had to go through The Bachelor and this is us the last two nights.
So, you know, I didn't watch any, but I just, I bailed.
So, but tonight she's going to finish the movie.
So I'll watch the, I'll watch the second half with her again because I really want to come out again.
Because, you know, even, even watching how, and Cyborgs dad had more to do in this one.
And Cyborgs Dad had to earn more, had to earn your trust a little.
And like, now thinking about like, remember because he goes into the mother box at the end there.
And the three boxes.
And then they have those three kind of, it's his parents.
And they're using his parents to pull him apart.
And they're trying to, he's like, no, stay together where the family we can stay together.
So you see it's manipulating him into making, wanting to put the boxes together.
And he has to fight against his family.
It's just brilliant, none of which was in 2017.
Yes.
It's, it was, I really, really enjoy this movie a lot.
And I think I'll like it.
The more and more I watch it again.
And it's a highly recommend it.
I've learned to not.
like you said,
recency bias to take my time.
Wonder Woman for me is the top.
Wonder Woman,
the first Wonder Woman.
That is my number one.
Shazam is two.
This right now is falling at three,
but it's climbing to two real fast for me.
Wonder Woman for me,
I have the same issue with it.
I think it's a great movie.
I just feel like the ending wasn't as solid to me as this was.
This is the most solid,
extended universe.
And I'll be honest,
the Batman,
Re-Sy Superman,
Snyder Cut,
if you will,
is the much is is way more superior than the end.
That's to me like people ask me, you know,
this to me, this film now, this is Justice League.
Yeah.
I'll always call Zach Snyder's Justice League just kind of out of honor and respect
that what he went through for this,
but this is the definitive version.
And if all we ever get is Manist Steel BVS and this,
then it's Zach Snyder's DC to me.
Well, that's going to be,
so that goes back to you what you said.
You wanted to talk about this thing.
Yeah.
This will be the other big question on.
This will be the, what is it?
What is it?
They have pig in the room or whatever the saying is.
Oh, yeah, this is the big...
Yeah, but whatever.
This is the big question that's going to happen because the support for this movie is going to be astronomical.
I mean, once people see it, especially the hardcore fan base, and I think people who, in general, saw the 2017 version and invest in the time of watching whatever, even if they do it over the course of four days and hour chunks, right?
Yeah.
The support in this movie is going to have to at least pose the question to Warner Brothers to say,
do we continue on and do this,
this universe? It doesn't mean go away
from Matt Reeves' Batman.
No. It doesn't mean go away from this one. Because clearly
that still works because Joker worked
very much so. And Joker to me
is one of my favorite DC movies.
I love it. Yep. I love Joker.
And I thought I was going to hate that film. I was ready to
like hate that film. I would be like,
Dark Night's my favorite of all time
DC movies, right? You're Batman
89. But like, but
but Dark Knight is my favorite.
And I, Joker's up there all this stuff.
But the universe is something different.
And I think that, look, you look at someone after the 2017,
and that's why I said when someone was like,
well, what do you tell?
I don't care.
Because I didn't know where the version was going.
I know what was happening with it.
And I didn't care anymore about the story.
I care about what's going to happen.
I care about to find out what the hell's going to happen with Dark Side.
What's he going to do?
How's he going to do?
I care more now.
So that's why I said, like, I was wrong about that because, like,
I didn't think I would care as much as I do watching the cut.
I'm watching it.
And I'm going, I want to see more of this.
And I'm not.
And I'm clearly not as hardcore as, as you are,
or a lot of these people are.
And so I think that continuing on this thing,
and even if it's continuing on as your exclusive HBO Max films,
you don't have amount on.
You hit it right there.
I think, and I was, you know, instantly it started,
you know, restore the Snyderverse.
Snyder versus like hashtag trending.
And I'm like, I got to be careful.
Because there are the Snyder bros that kind of attack anyone that doesn't like it.
And I think that's wrong too.
There's those hardcore phonics for anything.
but now after seeing this film
Snyder has very much said
I'm done this is what I did
but if they come back
you know we have the story
the actors all love him
I think HBO Max
continuing letting him do two and three
finish it out
don't finish it out let it stream
don't do it all once let it be a series
I think because they're going to try
they're going to keep getting subscribers
this is going to be a huge hit for them
you do it you know number two a year
number three another year
after that and extend your subscribers.
I think it's a win-win for them.
Well, it's going to be win-win. Look at it this way.
So they've got Kong versus Godzilla, Dune,
they have all these, Mortal Kombat, Matrix,
all these movies that are ready,
they're going to bring in a lot of the subscribers, right?
So the money's going to start coming in.
Obviously, theaters will be opening up again,
you would assume in the next eight months to a year and a half
will be fingers crossed.
And Warner Brothers will start releasing movies again,
but they're still going to need stuff for HBO Max.
if you're going to if a series HBO back in the day back in the day Rome was way ahead of its time and it was a million dollars to produce that and it was ahead of its time but now god but now there's no name recognition with that no and but now you have like these these series whether it's mandolorean game of thrones all these movies or series that have the 150 200 million dollar like you know Wanda vision look at all these things and
if you're going to say okay look we're going to we're going to put in you would assume anywhere
between for three movies or you do two movies you'd probably let's say probably close to three to
four hundred million dollars is probably what for the two of them probably sure I mean in that
and you maybe depending if you're doing it just right true max you'd probably get away with uh with
250 300 but I'd say you know considering four for and you and you invest in that and you say
how many subscribers do we have what do we have going on we do you have the
I mean, look at the press that HBO Max has gotten for this movie.
This movie's been anything all it has been talking about for the past year.
That's it.
It's going to blow.
I have a feeling and I'm so glad we got to see it.
I have a feeling and I hope they don't.
I hope their servers are ready for it because I could see it kind of crashing like they did with Wanda vision.
Well, I think that they hope it's okay.
Look at the studio point of view and like the executive side,
you're going to,
the conversations around the table is probably like,
well,
yeah,
because it's just this one time thing where they've been talking about this guy's cut for a long time.
and it's going to come and go.
And I don't think they understand
that it's going to be so much more than that
because of how brilliantly
Zach Snyder inside of this film said,
hey, you know,
if you make a little bit more and more,
there's something at the end there
because they can go,
because he's a filmmaker
and he knows when a film does well,
the studio comes back,
like, okay, so what's next?
And they always do that.
And like they did it with Batman begins
and they tease the Joker.
You know, he didn't want to do a second movie.
There was no plan for the dark night,
but he's like, it's out there.
And they went back,
like, okay, so this is different.
well, what do you want to do? Now with Snyder's like, so we told you this was a one-off,
but our numbers are insane. He clearly has a, what can we do? And he goes, it's all right there,
the plan. Let's go. Yeah, he's been, he's been doing some really smart stuff marketing. And he's a,
he's a very smart marketing dude. So I think that he knows. And you can tell. Let me, let me tell you
this. But that's why that epilogs there, Mike. That's why that thing is, let me tell you this.
I remember over the past two years, I would always see this. Snyder would post these black and white
pictures. And I have people reach out to me like, Mike, what is this? And I go, that's his film.
There was a shot of the four of them looking in the van with his coffin. It was all in black and white.
And then I heard, I remember it was like two years ago. I heard rumblings of a cut was being
assembled. And I just like, I don't know guys. I'm not involved in these worlds, but
something's there. And he would tease these pictures. People will get upset like, oh, he needs to
drop this. Teased in this. And it's like, but it was his film. Right. Like it's his film. And if you're in this
world of an, if you're an actor, director, writer, and you're bashing him for wanting his
film to be seen or at least celebrating it. And like, that speaks to you as a person because it's
like, the film was made. He got it. Right. This is a different situation than it's completely
different. You're being on the movie. The version comes out. They're on the film. And then they say,
okay, well, I just didn't really like this particular thing. What they did. This wasn't, like, it wasn't
like, remember what happened with Josh Trank and Fantastic Story? And it wasn't, and a lot of things that
happened inside that movie. But he, but it was, he was coming out against that movie. Like,
beforehand. Even Josh, when I've had called me.
Josh and Josh just said beforehand, I shouldn't have
done that before the movie. The day
the film released, I think he's like, that's not my movie.
Right, but that's not this situation.
He didn't passion at all. This is personal
tragedy. This is a lot of stuff that happened
to him that he was taken off of this movie
and replaced on this movie. Like there was,
so this was when
you see, you
see the passion in this movie.
You see the result. You see
the result of it and you go, you've got to
understand why this guy was like, well, that's not
my that's not what I what that's not what I wanted to show you no this is and and it comes across very well
it's it's it's fantastic I called it as mona looks fantastic and I love to see the people are saying like
this is one of his they're saying it's his best film I which I don't disagree with I'm not going to
argue with that I disagree Mona Lisa I think because it's it is just it just is such a and for me
I just love the story and the weaving of it and the music and like for me it's it's it's it's
It kind of does, and I told some people
about this, it does what Wanda Vision is done for like Age of Ultron.
It enhances and enriches the previous films.
Like you will back and you're like,
you might not like previous.
I tell people, if you're not a fan of Snyder,
this isn't suddenly going to make you a fan of his.
But you got to appreciate the film and go,
this is his best film.
And he really paid off the seeds in Man of Steel.
It pays off later because he knew,
I didn't know,
he didn't have a deal sign for five films.
Right.
But like we talked about it.
council there was a plan it was a plan absolutely was a plan you could you was a plan and then you just
it's just a matter of trusting your the creator with the plan and and i think that they got gunshy and they
just well but there's another conversation to be had though too because like this this movie this
overall movie works very well as a four-hour cut you can't absolutely can't release a four-hour cut
in in you just can't and they didn't do that with lord of the rings they released the theatrical cut
And the thing is that this movie could not have been released in 2016.
Not like it is.
No, the best.
And it needed to be released like this in order for it to really have the impact that I think that it does.
So I think that it ultimately, you know, obviously with the personal tragedies and everything aside, that where we ultimately got to, it worked out for the best because I think that this whole thing could be revitalized.
My fingers are crossed.
I'm hoping to see more of it because I like what you did.
I would much rather it be an HBO Max movie that I can enjoy from my house,
be able to, I don't care if they're eight hours long.
If I can watch them from my house, I don't, I just, I wouldn't want to watch it for
our movie in the theater.
I just wouldn't want to do it.
No, it's tough because you always like, when I got to go to the bathroom?
When can I go?
When can I listen to that?
They talked about this eventually being released in theaters with the intermission.
And if it is, I'll go see in the theater.
Right.
But like you, I'm on board.
Like, I never, two years ago, I didn't think we were ever going to see this film for 20 years.
Two years ago, I've even said,
as like Ben Affleck's done with Batman.
He's not coming back.
Now he's in the flash.
He was in this.
I don't ever take what I say for a green assault anymore.
Like what I know.
But I want them to do this.
And to see the missed opportunity with Batman and Deathstroke and Manchinaa what they were going to do.
And they established in this film, there is the multiverse.
Yeah.
They talk about the multiverse.
So I'm like, get Affleck back, man.
Him and Manginella, let them do their film.
To put it on.
That this is going to do.
the it's it's going to absolutely um like and you understood very much so why ray fisher has been fighting
so hard to get this.
Oh,
you know exactly why this was a star making turn for him as an actor.
Absolutely.
So you can understand why he wanted this version out and and rightfully so.
So I think this is going to, I think, you know, I know that he's been going through a lot of stuff,
uh, with Warner Brothers and everything too, but I think that this, this is going to get,
people are like, oh, his career's over now.
He's going against one brothers.
I couldn't know.
I agree with that more.
I think he's going to have a lot more to do.
That's one side of it.
The other side is this Flash movie, right?
Flash, because of what you said, I think that if the Flash movie with Ezra Miller didn't happen before this movie came out, people were like, yeah, whatever, get somebody else.
Right.
I'm more, I'm more interested to see this now because I'm going to tie into maybe now if they're like, because there's not, there's no plans for it yet as far as when it's coming out, right?
No, I think they're filming like any day now they're starting.
Are they?
day now.
Okay, because I was going to say that because of this,
maybe there's a little bit more consulting now with Snyder on it.
I'm a little upset that Cyber was pulled off Flash because of everything that
had happened.
They didn't say that, but it's, you see what happened.
But I, like, I agree with you.
His career is not done.
Like, they'll see him.
Warner Brothers for a while, but.
Yeah, Warner Brothers and sure, I think if Zach Snyder has a film, he'll be in it.
And I think if he does a Justice League, he's in it.
I thought he was fantastic in his.
movie.
W.B.
needs to own up and just say, okay, look, we had mistakes.
They're in the past.
Men this thing with him because you see what the end product.
He wasn't fighting for something that was terrible.
He wasn't fighting for something that wasn't justified.
You see it, you're like, that's the, if you want to release this.
See, that particular part of it, you know, him fighting for it.
I don't, I don't, I don't, like, that was clear.
That was clear cut.
I don't know the rest of the legal stuff and what's out.
No idea.
So I have no idea.
What's going on there?
and they'll settle it one way or another.
What I do know is that he was phenomenal in the film.
I'd like to see him continue on in that role.
If Zach Snyder does get a chance to finish up those movies,
I think they should be for an HBO Max series.
I think the two and three should be done there.
I think that it'll do phenomenal numbers for the streaming service.
But overall, Mike, I take that you love this movie and then you're going to probably watch it again.
Dude, just talking about it with you made me want to watch it again.
Like, I was like, I've still got the screener, so it's like, why not pop it in again?
Like, I really do.
Like, I've learned to not say anything.
thing like right away, you know, and I was going to tweet out. He says that line here. He's like,
uh, not impressed. Superman with the dark side or several tries to hit him. And he's like,
not impressed. I was going to just tweet that out. Tweet that out after I saw it with the hashtag.
And I was like, oh, no, it's like I respect too many of my friend, my fan, not fans, the followers
on Twitter to, to lie like that and for them to wait three days until they saw it and understood the
quote. So I didn't do that. Plus it would just been extra adjudy that you didn't have to deal with.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You said, Adjada?
I got Adjana?
Yeah.
Extra.
Adjada there.
Yeah, so I really enjoyed it.
Right now, it's like around two or three for me as far as my list for these films.
It might jump to two.
Yeah.
I think I might be Chazam.
I'm going to watch it again, but I just, I did get the chills every time I heard the little
underscore of, uh, Han Zimmer Superman.
And it's so funny to talk about this because Junkie XL, he had released music way back in 2017 when he was
working on it.
And he was fired.
I mean, he, he came out and says like, yeah, my mentor told me he'd never.
really made it as opposed to your fire. He's like, I'm fired from this film. I'm not
switching. He's like, and he went back and got rid of all that music he made for the original.
He's like, because this is a different film. You know, his daughter has passed. It's at a different
place now. So I owed it to this film to redo all my music. And that one song that got released,
I think it's called Crew at Warpower. Man, to hear that in the film, it's just awesome.
It's really, his four-hour score is being released tomorrow. So I was like, I can't wait for that.
The music is fantastic in this way. And it just fits the film. It's got this, like,
Because his stuff that he did for Fury Road was so good.
And it's got the drum beats at a lot of that.
I love the music to it.
Overall, great movie.
Really enjoyed it.
