Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi there. This is the lazy genius podcast. I'm Kendra Adachi and I'm here to help you be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't. Usually on this podcast, we talk about practical things or at the very least some permission giving things. Ways for you to make your life work better for you based on what matters to you. But sometimes we need to just have some fun. Sometimes we need to get a little rowdy. Sometimes we need to talk about things other than homework and time management and how to you. how to get dinner on the table. Things like period cups and Timothy Shalame and weird movies we watched when we were kids. The most genius way I know how to bring that energy is to bring you my sister, Hannah. Hannah and I are the lazy sisters and will still help you be a genius about the things that matter. It's just that those things are a little off the beaten path and what I usually talk about. So Hannah is going to join me for the occasional bonus episode and you are going to love getting to know her if you don't already.
Starting point is 00:00:58 So in this episode, we are going to share our. Our season passes, the things that require no consideration. We automatically love them. So let's do it. Hi, sister. Hello. How are you today? I'm doing all right.
Starting point is 00:01:13 How are you? We're all doing. All right. Did you know, I know you know this because I texted you about it, but can we just say it really quick? Did you know that Jennifer Garner talked about my book on Instagram? I did. I sure did, Kendra.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Are we, have we recovered? I have not recovered. Personally, no. No. But my real did you know, did you know that I got a robot vacuum cleaner? I did. And I saw it in action and I want one. Isn't it amazing? I want one. We called it. It looks so cool. So I haven't really shared this anywhere yet, but we, so Ben wanted to call it robot sucker 3,000 or something like that. That's solid. And then he wanted to call it something with buddy. I forget what the other word was. But we just combine their ideas and it's sucker. buddy. His name is sucker buddy. And now, now we every day, because the kids have like,
Starting point is 00:02:06 their weekly, we don't do daily sheets in the summer. We do weekly because summer days are like, who knows, right? But they all have their things they have to do every week. And they all rotate their days of who gets the floor ready for sucker buddy because sucker buddy runs at seven o'clock. And so you have to like get the side, like the things, little things off the floor. You got to move this table in his chair because he always gets stuck. You have to put a blanket underneath the TV table because he'll get stuck on the cords going under the table. But they all like love getting the room ready for Sucker Buddy. I mean, they talk to him like he's a dog. It's amazing. There you go. There you go. I mean, Sam's allergic to dogs. So this is your new dog. This is her new dog. Yeah. It's your new dog. I do. I wish that
Starting point is 00:02:46 we kept the 3000. It was good. It was solid. Yeah. I really, I really like the 3000 edition. We can make that His given name, but we just call him. Yeah, his nickname is Sucker Buddy. Do you have a, did you know? Did you know that silk pillowcases actually make a difference? I never believed this because people say all the time for both hair and skin. Yes. And I'm like, this is a hoax.
Starting point is 00:03:10 It's a hoax. Yeah, it's a myth. It's not real. Kendra. It's real? It's real. Did you get a silk pillowcase? I got a silk pillowcase.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Now, granted, it's not like, okay, I'm not entirely sure. of the definition of silk. Like, I, I think, I think, I think that if I get a silk pillowcase, what should the ingredients be?
Starting point is 00:03:33 Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Thread made from silkworms. In my farm app, that's how I make silk. Sure. Okay. I have a silkworm. I have a mulberry tree.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Okay. It's such a great game. I'm so good you love it. I can see the joy on your face, but you're saying that perhaps when you buy a silk pillowcase at Belk, do people still shop at Belk? I think Belk did a rebrand.
Starting point is 00:03:54 And I think that it saved them from tanking. Nice. Maybe. I don't know. It's very bright. I just remember it being very bright. Like beach balls. So it could be.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Does it have to be a... But I thought it would be 100% silk. And it doesn't mean. I thought that's what it would say. Yes. But a lot of these things are like 100% satin polyester. And I'm like, is that... So it's just like smooth?
Starting point is 00:04:15 I think it's just smooth. I think it just needs to be smooth. Because I got one. It was from, I think, like, the kits. You know how they made all the face. mass and then they started doing like hair stuff. Yes. It was like a big Instagram app company.
Starting point is 00:04:26 I bought some of their masks. I did too. I think like everybody did. We were all wearing like the white with the black polka dots. Like it's for a really long time. They came out with pillowcases. And I got one of their pillowcases. It was like 25 bucks or something.
Starting point is 00:04:41 It's changed my life. So what's different? I don't know. I used to wake up and look like. You just woke up. Albert Einstein. Love it. With my hair.
Starting point is 00:04:52 hair okay and now i wake up and i look like steve from stranger things get it which by the way i'm totally going to be steve for stranger things um from stranger things for holline that's actually fantastic yeah and i think luke's gonna be hopper that's y'all like that that actually like tracks so well i still haven't watched season four by the way but oh my goodness it is so i heard it so good it's just like the some of the darkness in it yeah i just don't know that but kendra did you know that Stranger Things season four is great. No, but it really does make a difference. And I will say my skin usually gets better in the summertime for some reason.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I don't know why. Oh, mine gets worse. My skin has looked really good consistently since I've been using the pillowcase. And I don't know if it's a summertime correlation or the pillowcase. Well, they say that about the pillowcases. It doesn't like scrunch your skin up and it just lets it breathe or whatever. It's also, I mean, it also is really nice. I thought it would be really hot.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Yeah, that's what I would think too. But it's not. Wow. It's not. So I, they work. They work. They really work. I'll try my soap pillowcase.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Yeah. Sounds good. Okay. So let's jump into our first segment. We're talking about season passes. Yes. Let's do it. And let's define season pass really quick because that kind of, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:02 It matters. It matters. So to me a season pass is no matter what this person, this thing, this whatever does, I'm into it. Yep. Like I don't need you to convince me. Yep. I'm just like arms wide open. What's that song?
Starting point is 00:06:19 With arms wide open. Honolar the song That's great Okay, so we're going to do two Different segments of season passes Wow, I had to drink some water after that That was so aggressive We're going to do two different segments of season passes
Starting point is 00:06:37 The first one is going to be pop culture related Yes And then the second one will just be kind of like wild cards Like because there are many things That could be season passes I was surprised at my own that came up I was like correct I'm looking at my list right now and I'm like
Starting point is 00:06:48 What a weird list of things? So that's what we're going to do. And hopefully, so hopefully this will inspire those of you listening to like, you can come up your own season passes because coming up with lists of things is a blast. But also, there might be some things that you have been on the fence about like a silk pillowcase that you're like, man, it's a season pass for her. I'm going to try it. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:07:10 This could be a dose of inspiration as well. Okay. So we're going to start with our pop culture season passes. I'm going to begin with an author. that author is Emily Henry, the author of booklovers, people we meet on vacation, and Beach Read. Have you ever read any of these books? No, but I just got Beach Reed on Audible last week. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:07:33 I'm going to give you book lovers. Okay. And you're going to read it with the casting of Blake lively and Ryan Reynolds. Okay. Okay. You're going to trust me in this. Okay. I'm going to trust you.
Starting point is 00:07:42 It's going to be what happens. Okay. I'm going to trust you. So book lovers is my favorite of the three. She basically is just a, like a good old rom-com writer. But there are what makes a good rom-com and like the movies and all the things. It's that there's a little bit of surprise and there's a deep well of humanity. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Right? That you care about these people and that they're nuanced people and all the things. So when I read book lovers, it's my favorite of the three significantly, but I loved Beach Read and I liked people reread on vacation. Okay. I think everybody that I know that is an Emily Henry reader has said the exact same thing. Yes. And that's what I was planning on doing. The order was just the order she wrote them in, but save book lovers for less.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Because I had a few people say, do not read that one first because it's the best one. It is the best one. It's one of the best books I think I've ever written. I did not read it. I did not write it. That would be great because she has sold a lot. It's the best book I've ever written. It's the best book I've ever read.
Starting point is 00:08:41 I think in that genre, I think it's the best I've ever read in that genre. Well, one of the reasons why. I'm, I'm slow to the game here is that I don't enjoy rom-coms or, or romance books in general. Nor do I. Yeah. The only reason I,
Starting point is 00:08:56 I've tried, like I've given, I've given a few, a few really good tries. I mean, I've even tried to do a series, like give a couple books out of a series a try. I just,
Starting point is 00:09:07 I just, do it, is it missing, what's it missing? Snark, is it missing? No, no, one of my, Oh, hit.
Starting point is 00:09:16 One of the things that I really don't like in modern rom-coms. Got it. Is this playful, quote-unquote, banter. Okay. That's usually sexually charged. Uh-huh. And it just feels very hollow, very dumb. Like, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:09:33 No one. Oh. No one talks to a person like this. Well, book lovers is full of banter. It's like, it's like. Emily Henry is full of banter. That is one of the things that makes her books, a delight and so maybe it's good for you to know that you might hate it i might hate it okay well maybe you
Starting point is 00:09:49 should start with book lovers i don't know here's my question yes at any point does the man yes make a comment about how he likes how this girl that he just met at the library sure likes to eat sandwiches that is a no okay great because this is the thing that really gets on my nerves with most rom-coms i've read yes there is some narrative about like, well, I think she might be the one because she ordered a double cheese mirror. I'm just like, oh my gosh. It's like the tropes. Yes. Like I can't. Well, the thing that's so great about book lovers is that the main character, Blake lively, it's not her name. It's Nora, named after Nora Ephron. She calls herself in the beginning. She's like, I'm a trope. I am the
Starting point is 00:10:36 mean New York City girlfriend that every guy dumps to go marry the daughter of the Christmas tree farmer. That's how the whole thing starts. Okay. So it's very. So it's very, tongue and cheek. Okay. Okay. I think I could get behind it. Yeah. I think I can get behind it.
Starting point is 00:10:48 But I am a season pass on Emily Henry. I wasn't told. I was like an interested like I was flirting with the season pass because of how much I loved Beech read. And I was like I didn't love the people who meet on vacation. But I appreciated it, let's say. But then after I read book lovers, I was like, oh, she's, she found it. I will read anything she writes now.
Starting point is 00:11:09 It doesn't matter what it is. So she's my first season pass to you. Okay. my first one we're going to go to I'm just going to go ahead and do my book one too while we're on the subject fantastic so my season past actually really surprised me but it showed me how much of a season past this person is because some of their books I genuinely hate I'm intrigued but I will not stop reading until I get to the end okay and it's Ruthware that makes so much sense I don't know what it is there have been some there have been a couple of Ruth Ware books where I'm like,
Starting point is 00:11:44 I want to light this book on fire. 100%. Like I can't stand it. It is terrible. Why am I still? I'm still going to finish this. And then I found out that she's coming out with a new book either this summer or this fall. And I was like, I'm so excited.
Starting point is 00:11:58 And I was like, why am I so excited? Like some of the books that I really love of hers are incredible. They're not. But they're not. Like, but I still, I can't get enough. It is, she does, she does weave a tail. I think part of it too is she uses the same narrator. For all of her, for all of her audio books.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Is she Julia Wayland or somebody else? No, no, no. She is, it might be Imogen Puts. Oh. Because I have listened to one Ruth Ware. Or Imogene Church. Maybe that's who it is. I think it might be Imaging Church.
Starting point is 00:12:32 That's who it is. But. So there's like consistency. I will say, I think my favorite book that I really, I think I did feel like I gave it like four stars was the deaf. death of Mrs. Westway. I read that one. I really liked that one.
Starting point is 00:12:44 It was very moody. I think it's kind of like, she gives me Edgar Allan Poe vibes. Oh yeah, there's very atmospheric. Yeah, like there's usually some house, there's usually some forms. There's mist. There's always missed.
Starting point is 00:12:56 I don't know, I just really get behind missed. Maybe my season pass is missed. Which is also, coincidentally, a really fantastic computer game. Do you remember missed? I had zero percent. I just remember Snood. Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:13:10 That's it. Oh, snood. So, Snood was so good. That's a good one, though. It was weird. Okay. My next one is new. It's a new season pass, but I am so glad that I am going to be able to ride the season
Starting point is 00:13:21 pass hopefully for decades. Okay. And that's Florence Pugh. Like, is anyone not just like full on the Florence Pue train at this point where it's like, you can star in anything. She is, everybody knows how I cast books when I read them. She could be the lead in every single book I read. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:38 And nail it. Absolutely. Nail it. Like she is so the fact, I think the case and point, two things. One, she makes me want to watch midsummer, even though I'm terrified of horror movies. Same. Okay. I feel the same way.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Number two, she made Amy likable in little women. She made Amy the best character in that thing. And you're like, what is happening? I know. Why, what is this magic that she's weaving? I felt so vindicated by that PS. Yes. So I am so excited.
Starting point is 00:14:04 Like I've never clicked on someone's upcoming projects on IMDB so quickly. Uh-huh. And so often as I do with flip. you. Like, I don't, I like her cooking in her kitchen and making us her like vegan zucchini boats. Uh-huh. I still think it's a little weird that she dates that Brath, but like, live your life, be happy. They seem happy together. Yeah. Like I just, big time, all caps, season pass on Floop You. Oh yeah. P.S. I was talking somebody yesterday about movies and I, and he said, I love, Josh Spencer. And I said, uh, you like Marvel movies? He was like, oh, love Marvel movies. Have you
Starting point is 00:14:34 watched Black Widow? No, I heard it was stupid. How dare you? Go watch Black Widow right now. I know. I know. I still haven't watched it, Kendra. It, are you gonna? Is so good. And you like Scarjo now. You've like come around a little bit. Maybe not like. But haven't you come around?
Starting point is 00:14:50 I think you took it a little far. You've come around. I have come around where I am, because I used to feel like I don't really want to watch stuff you're in. But it wasn't like a personal dislike. It was just like I didn't super love her vibes on screen. I get that.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Whatever character she was playing. It was nothing personal. Sure. But it was actually after watching Avengers with you that I was like, oh, I really like her. I really like her. I know. She goes on you. And so I do want to, because I'm very invested in her character.
Starting point is 00:15:23 The movie is spectacular. Yeah. And Hopper plays her dad. Oh my gosh, are you serious? David Harbor plays her dad. Rachel Weiss is her mother and Florence Pugh is her sister. Wait, hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Yes. We didn't talk about Rachel Weiss. Yes. David Harbors is her dad, Rachel Vices her mom, and Florence Pius her sister. That is my dream family. You're like sub-scarjo out, put me in. Oh my goodness. And it's hilarious. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:51 It is absolutely, for being like a Marvel movie. Like it's, it is fantastic. You're going to love it. You're going to love it. If you don't love it, what will I give you? I'll give you whatever you want. But you'll love it. That's how confident I am.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Wow. Okay. Good thing I'm honest. Jeez. True. Okay. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:07 my next one is a you're going to be totally shocked it's a composer oh you love your composers hans hans zimmer hans zimmer hans zimmer y'all i i've never had a composer i love composers but i don't watch movies just because somebody writes the music who does that um me except for when it's hans zimmer except for when it's hans zimmer i'm pulling up as i mdb just so we can have clarity continue talking okay yeah but now i feel like you're going to test me no no no no no i'm not testing It's more like, I did win the test on TikTok. That's when I knew that TikTok really dialed in on my algorithm, it was like, if you can guess these Hans-Zommer, Hans-Zamer scores from the first three seconds.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Oh, that's fantastic. So it was like, it was like a blank screen, three seconds, and then it gives you the movie. Oh, score. And I got all of them right. I bet you did. It was so fun. So what are some of your favorite? I'm pulling it up just to like supplement with things that you say.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Gladiator, of course is my number one. thin red line is an incredible soundtrack. Did you know that he did Top Gun Maverick? I'm sorry, what? He did. He was the composer for Top of the Maverick. I did not know this. I mean, it's on my list.
Starting point is 00:17:19 I really want to see the movie because I've heard it's fantastic. He did Dune. Interstellar. He did. So Billy Elgy. I'm going down the list. He did The New Lion King. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:28 He did Pirates of Caribbean. Which, again, you know, it's like, I don't know that I would have Duncirk. Really wanted to watch Pirates of the King. Caribbean. But if you're like he's going to add to it, we got to do this. Here's the thing. I have re-watched Pirates of the Caribbean because of the music. Wow. That's not because of the movie. No. Inception? Yes. Inception. No. That has interstellar and inception. And dark night stuff. I think he does like most of Chris Nolan stuff, right? Yes. That's a solid. That's a solid pick. And also just permission for everyone out there, you can watch a movie because of the composer. Yes, you can. It's a delightful experience. Or you could just listen to the same.
Starting point is 00:18:07 soundtrack. That's fine too. That's also a fan too. Yeah. But I will actually make an effort to see movies that he is composed. I love it. And I'm always going to be interested. Like always I'll do a quick segue to my next one, which is Christopher Nolan. I will always, I will always watch it. Even if I'm like, it's kind of like my Ruth Ware, even if I'm like, I didn't love that. I'll still watch it. I will never not watch a Chris Nolan movie. Did he do Tenet? He did do Tenet, which is the one I have not seen yet. But it's because when it came out, it was like, everybody was starting to go to the theater and I thought, oh, I really want to go see this theater. I think it's on HBO now. I think it is. But I love, that's another one. So, Dark Night, like, his Batman stuff. Inception is one of my favorite movies. I just, I just love his brain. I love his brain. And the fact that he often uses Hans Zimmer is also a perk. It is amazing. Yep. To you. My one is a director as well. This one kind of surprised me because I don't love rom-coms, but sign me up for any Nancy Myers movie. You do love a Nancy Myers movie. Oh my gosh. I love Nancy Myers. See, isn't there banter in Nancy Myers?
Starting point is 00:19:06 Of course. But you're, you're into that. But it's, you know, Diane Keaton. Sure. And, like, I don't mind banter. Like, for example, I read a rom-com series by Evie Dunmore. It was like, the most recent one was called Portrait of a Scotsman. But it's like all these different, it follows all these different stories that all interconnect.
Starting point is 00:19:27 But it's like different couples in every book. It's kind of similar to Bridgeton a little bit. But I loved their banter. Okay. But it was because it was, you know, old tiny. I don't know. It was different. You definitely don't like trope banter where it's like the girl, like you don't like me.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Again, the double cheeseburger. It bothers me. Let me eat. Just let me eat my cheeseburger. It doesn't have to be part of your personality. No. Yes. Like, oh my gosh, I found a girl who likes to eat.
Starting point is 00:19:53 We should get married. Right. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. It is very dumb. I just, I get really irritated by that clearly. Because we've talked about it, I think, eight times at this point. So anyways, Nancy Meyer. the whole vibe there's so much linen there's so much burlap there's so much jazz i just i love it i love a nancy
Starting point is 00:20:12 meyers movie and i will always watch one what's the one with maryl streep and steve martin it's complicated it's complicated i love to that movie oh my gosh that's my favorite john krasinski is him and it's complicated that's like peak that's such a good than 13 hours even though he's really great in 13 hours with all the you know all the dudes like saving the embassy or whatever but that's the best John Corseske in my opinion. That's a good one. Okay. My final one, I'll do my final one. And that is also like such a slow pitch and maybe a little bit basic, but maybe not.
Starting point is 00:20:45 And it's Harry Styles. We kept his issue of good housekeeping or not good housekeeping, better homes and gardens. Better homes and gardens. It was better homes and gardens. And it was like, cause saved it. He was like, well, I think we might want to read it again. Like we are just all in. Cause is watching Harry Styles video.
Starting point is 00:21:03 like TikToks, even though we don't have, we don't get on the TikTok app. Our whole family list knows the entire Harry's house album. Like we listen to it all the time as a family. Harry Styles is magic. He's just magical. Like I, there's a line in cinema, the chorus of cinema. I just think you're cool. I like your cinema.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Do you think I'm cool too? And I said to cause yesterday, the whole family. And I was like, would anyone say no? If you're in a position where you're having a conversation with Harry Styles and he says, I think you're cool. Do you think I'm cool to? would anyone say no? I don't think they would.
Starting point is 00:21:38 No. No one would say no. No. Also, I need to draw your attention. I just want to make sure that you know this. Okay. You know that Florence Pugh and Harry Styles are in... I do.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Okay. And Chris Pine is part of that. I know. And he's like a bad guy, which is kind of Brad. I'm very... I saw that trailer and I was like... It's going to be fine. I'm going to be fine.
Starting point is 00:21:57 That's the Olivia Wild movie that she didn't actually direct. She was in her trailer with Harry and Flo was the one who directed most of that thing. Like Flo directed her own scenes because Olivia was not on the set. That has been confirmed by multiple people on. Are you serious? The crew. Yes.
Starting point is 00:22:10 I did not know that. Because that's the movie where Olivia met Harry. And she like wasn't on set a lot of the times. And so Flo would just like direct her own scenes. Oh. We'll see how that comes out like as it gets like, wow. Because I think it's going to get a lot of acclaim. Well, it's getting buzz.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I mean, it's already getting a lot of buzz. Oh my word. I can't wait to see that movie. Oh, my God. Okay. Okay. Okay. That was my final one.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Okay. Mine is more of a general. Uh-huh. Any space show. Not movie. Oh. TV show. Oh, that's super tracks.
Starting point is 00:22:42 I have no idea what it is. I mean, they are the black holes. I will get sucked into them. I mean, I have watched Expans. How many times have you watched? Battlestar Galactica. Star Trek. Multiple times.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Like, multiple times. If it is a show about space, you're in it. I want to watch it. I mean, I guess this could transition to some movies. Like, for example, I don't like horror movies. Mm-hmm. The alien movies? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:23:10 I love that entire franchise. Because of space. A strong woman in space. It's like your subgenre. Yeah, pretty much. I love sci-fi, but I also love, like, fantasy space. Red Rising. I mean, literally.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Yeah, like Red Rising. I mean, I don't know what it is. Is it the moons? Oh, oh, the new. I do love moons. Foundation. that Apple TV show? Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:23:35 I just, I can't not watch a show about space. And I have no idea why because space terrifies me. Well, season passes. That's the thing about season passes is sometimes we don't know why. Yeah, you don't ask questions. You just do it. You just do it. So it's like when I saw that weird graphic on Amazon Prime for like two years,
Starting point is 00:23:50 I mean, they never gave themselves a facelift. Every time you opened up the app, it was just like, expanse with that girl coming out of the moon in a weird way. I was like, I guess I have to watch it. You have to watch it now. It's a space show. We'll be right back. Amazon presents Jeff versus Taco Truck Salsa, whether it's Verde, Roja, or the orange one.
Starting point is 00:24:13 For Jeff, trying any salsa is like playing Russian roulette with a flame thrower. Luckily, Jeff saved with Amazon and stocked up on antacids, ginger tea, and milk. Habaniero? More like habanier, yes. Save the everyday with Amazon. Aw isn't something we need to travel for. It's something waiting for us in everyday life, whether in a city street or a moment with a work of art. I'm Dr. Keltner, host of the Science of Happiness podcast. Join me for Cities of Aw, a special series on how our public spaces can spark awe, wonder, and enhance the quality of public life.
Starting point is 00:25:01 You can find us wherever you listen to your podcasts. Okay, let's do. Our wild card season passes, ones that have no anchor in anything other than we just like do it. Yeah. Mine is so random. Mine is so random. It's so random. Do you want to hear my first one?
Starting point is 00:25:18 I would love to. Honey mustard. Honey mustard. Every single time. Do you have like a restaurant preference? Like who kills it in the honey mustard game? Freeman's. Freeman's.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Oh, like Freeman's like our local. We have a local place. They have a Blackberry Honey Mustard. Blackberry? It is. What do you put it? What do you put in it? Probably anything, but what's your fries?
Starting point is 00:25:39 My face. Okay. I don't know. It doesn't matter. Sticks and Stones. My other, well, my favorite restaurant in Greensboro. Yes. Incredible pizza.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Uh-huh. It is. And always ask for their honey mustard because of it. It is the best honey mustard I've ever had. Wow. That honey mustard is the quintessential honey mustard for me. But that is no question. But I don't care.
Starting point is 00:25:59 You'll eat Burger King Honeymaster. I will eat. Yes. If there is a honey mustard option, unless it is chickfilet, honey mustard. I have had that because I used to work at Chick-fil-A. It doesn't, it doesn't ring as other, it has a different ring. It does. It does. And I don't feel like they can call it honey mustard. I don't think they can. But I think they should just call it fancy mustard. It is. They should just creamy and it's not very honey. You're right. It's not any of that. It's just like a weird, soft
Starting point is 00:26:26 mustard. I don't know. I don't like it. But just across the board, honey mustard every single time. Where it's like, ranch, I'll ask questions. Oh, oh, I made a rest. a recipe from a cookbook, a trusted cookbook. And I was like, this is the best ranch you'll ever have. It was Hidden Valley. It tastes like Hidden Valley. And I'm like, no, where's my restaurant ranch? Where's my hambs with the homemade chips?
Starting point is 00:26:47 Oh my gosh. With the homemade chips. We're just saying restaurants that no one can go to because they're all in Greensboro, but seriously, Greensboro has some of course food. Oh my gosh. It really does. But I want restaurant ranch. I don't want like your homemade version of Hidden Valley.
Starting point is 00:26:58 I want restaurant ranch. I want restaurant. They taste different. They taste different. They taste different. So you're right. You have to ask questions with ranch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:04 I mean, I have straight up looked at a server and said, what is your ranch's consistency? And they looked at me like, wow, okay. Like respect. But also this is a little intense. That's an intense question. Okay. My first season pass is Oxford's, Oxford's shoes.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Okay. Oxford shoes. At first I thought you were like, Oxford. Oxford, the city. I have been there before. And I was like, okay, okay, all right. If I could go to Oxford and wear Oxford's, that would be. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:27:36 You weren't wearing Oxford's at that point. I was not. Oxford's are a new, a new venture for me in the last maybe four or five years. Yeah. But if I had to eliminate all other shoe styles to the exclusion of one, I would choose Oxford's. And Instagram knows it. They feed me up all kinds of Oxford's constantly.
Starting point is 00:27:56 And I want to buy every single one. I don't because usually Oxford's are north of $200. Yeah, they are. Instagram feeds to me. But my favorite. favorite shoes are Oxford shoes. I feel the most like myself. I like masculine, kind of tailored clothes for the most part.
Starting point is 00:28:13 And so Oxford shoes feel like men's shoes. That's my shoe. They look great on you. That's my first season pass. If you give me an Oxford, I will wear it. Yeah. Well, I have one that is shoe related. Vans.
Starting point is 00:28:24 You love vans. Your children wear vans. My children wear vans. I don't push it on him. Not really. I just quote unquote, happen to find them while I'm shopping out of the thrift store. By the way, y'all, don't sleep on your local child consignment store.
Starting point is 00:28:41 Consignment store. They always have vans that are barely used. Because children's feet grow so dang fast. Exactly. And so many people will buy new vans. And then their kids won't be able to wear them for very long. And then they give them the consignment stores. And then you get really cool vans.
Starting point is 00:28:55 You get really cool vans. They're really cheap. Yep. That's a good one. Any style, if it's a van, I'm going to wear it. You're in. A van. A vans.
Starting point is 00:29:04 to the exclusion, would you say that it's a to the exclusion season pass? Like if you had to, if you had to be painted into a corner where like you're the only shoe shoe brand you can ever wear ever again is vans. Yeah, probably. I mean, it's hard for me because in the summertime I don't wear tennis shoes. I just wore Birkenstocks. Uh-huh. But it's like Birkenstocks and bands are, that's kind of it.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I even will try to create an outfit to make, make it so that I can wear vans with them. Like, for example, your launch party. I needed to be like elevated and cute. But I found an outfit that I was like, I can just wear fans. You can wear vans. Because I didn't want to have to wear fancy shoes. That's the way I'm with Oxford's. And that's been my most recent travel tip is start with your shoes.
Starting point is 00:29:48 And I start with my oxfords. Like I'm pretty much like always just going to wear my oxford. Yep. So good. Yeah. Okay. So my next one is the brand super goop. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Unseen sunscreen. One of them is the glow screen. And then even their like play screen or family one in the big pump. basically any product that Supergoop puts out, I'm in. It's my favorite of whatever the thing is. And I realize that's kind of like a random season pass. But anytime, like I'm on their email list now and I don't mind. I don't automatically delete them.
Starting point is 00:30:17 You know, when we get our emails from all the brands and you're like, whatever, it's just your sales. I'm like, what do you have to say to me today, Supergoop? Wow. You're really bought in. I have. I love Supergoop. Yeah. I mean, it's great stuff.
Starting point is 00:30:29 It's great stuff. I really want them to put out more products so that I can get more Supergoop. but that's one of my Decide Once Maybe are season passes Almost like a version of Decide Ones I think they are They kind of are
Starting point is 00:30:40 I think they are But that is like one of my brand I think we just accidentally fit your brand We do So that's my next weird one What's yours? My next one is faux fur Home Decor
Starting point is 00:30:49 Oh you love fluffy things I can't stay away You can't I have so many pillows That are faux fur And I feel it gets too much It's like a little pastel Animals living around here
Starting point is 00:31:02 I just love it. You do. I really like it. Like it's so, we have, we have established, even from like a personality standpoint that like you don't even, you're not a hard edge person. No. You like things to be soft and round. I do. Velvety and furry.
Starting point is 00:31:17 So it makes sense that your home decor would match that. Yeah. Interestingly enough, all my other pillows are velvet. Right. Yeah. There's a lot of softness. There's a lot of softness. But see, that sure does make it easy when you're shopping for home decor.
Starting point is 00:31:29 It's you're like, well, why? We're not going to get some, like, wool situation. We're not going to get something scratchy. We're not going to get stripes that are too edgy. We're getting fur. Yeah. I love the feel of it. It just,
Starting point is 00:31:41 I love the look of it. And I, I'm never going to apologize. I don't care if it goes out of style. Well, no one's asking you to. No one's asking you to. It's just my favorite. No, we all get to do what matters to us, Hannah.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Exactly. And you can have your faux fur. And apparently faux fur home decor is where it's at. I mean, it's hard for me to walk away. And I don't really buy things for myself. Mm-hmm. But if I come across a blanket that looks like
Starting point is 00:32:02 it's a baby panda bear that hasn't had its hairbrushed in a while. Does panda? No, pandas. Polar. Polar. Poundas the black and white one. Polar. Did you mean polar?
Starting point is 00:32:16 I met polar. Yes. Because, you know, they're like fluffy on their bellies. Yes, they are fluffy on their bellies. In the coat commercials. Yes. Our mom has polar bear rugs in her room. You know, she's got that.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Not really. Not really. She has like a white furry. It looks like the underside of a polar bear. Yeah, the underside of a polar bear. of a polar bear. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Yeah, a very fluffy white animal. Did you know that Annie cannot say polar bear? Really? It comes out poilet bear every time. Poilet bear? And she just laughs about it. She's like, why can't I say this? Like we try to, she can't say polar bear and she can't say negative.
Starting point is 00:32:50 She always says, nidicav. Like, she can't get it out. There you go. She can't get out the word negative. Well, which six-year-old needs to know the word negative except in COVID times when we're like, I'm a positive or am a negative. You have to figure out to say the word. My next one is anything mango.
Starting point is 00:33:06 So obviously my favorite kombucha is mystic mango kombucha. It's so delicious. The cider I like is a habanera mango. If there is a mango sauce, if there is a mango candy. Sorbet. If there's a mango sorbet in dessert, if there is a mango, if there's mango in your cocktail, I am ordering that cocktail. Yep.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Like under no circumstances. So that's just like my, I don't think I've ever been disappointed by mango. Even like the nectar that's just like drinking mango juice. Yeah. I can make that work. Yeah, it's delicious. Yes. I am seasoned passes on mango all the way.
Starting point is 00:33:36 All right. My next one is food. Greek salad, man. Oh, yeah. Never met a Greek salad I didn't love. No, why should, why are we messing around with other salads? It should always be a Greek salad.
Starting point is 00:33:46 It should always be a Greek salad. It should always have the cucumber and the little cherry tomatoes and the big hunk of feta cheese and a pink, I prefer a pink Greek dressing. Yes. I want there to be so much red wine vinegar in that thing that you're like, oh, this is hewed now. My jaw just fizzed. when you said that.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Yes. Like I want that reaction. You need that reaction. Any Greek salad. Because, you know, I have a lot of dietary restrictions. You do. And so I tend to look for Greek salads. Because you can do that.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Because most of the time, it's going to be pretty solid. Because I know you have to be careful with dairy, but I feel like feta has its own category. No, fetas never bothered me. That's really lovely. It's been a cheese that has never bothered me. And and Greek salad does not depend on croutons like a Caesar and you can't have a crouton. Exactly. So it's like you're not.
Starting point is 00:34:32 not having to take anything away. No, the only thing that I may take away is if I have, because I can only have onions once a week. It's very strange. You guys, this is real. It's actually genuinely real. If I have more than like a quarter cup of onions per week, I will feel consequences. Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:51 So that might be the only thing that I may leave off is a red onion or, because usually they have like chunks of red onion. Yes, you just pull them out. And I also can't do peppers. can't eat peppers, or red bell pepper specifically. But those are easy to pull off. But it's not like a crouton where if I accidentally ate half of a crouton, I would immediately have joint pain.
Starting point is 00:35:15 If I ate half of a bell pepper, you can rally. It would be okay. Yeah. It would be okay. So that's so good that you have like a go-to thing because most any restaurant worth or salt that has a salad section of their menu. They're going to have some type of like. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Iranian-inspired bowl situation. And the other nice thing about that is if there's chicken on it, it's usually some type of grilled thing. It's never fried. So that's another reason because I can't have fried stuff. So that's another thing that's always just kind of a win. And it's usually always pretty tasty. What a gift. The season pass of the Greek salad.
Starting point is 00:35:53 The season pass of the Greek salad. My next one is Sherry, Peterson, from Younghouse Love. Anything that that woman recommends, I buy. and it always is the best thing I've ever bought. Wow. Our towels, our robot vacuum, sucker buddy, is because of Sherry. Like the number, this, this, this, what's that called? The Himalayan.
Starting point is 00:36:12 The Himalayan salt lamp. Mm-hmm. That was from her. Mm-hmm. Like, I have to actually limit myself on Sherry stories. Because you'll buy all of her stuff. Because I'm going to buy something. And she does a really good job of linking things up.
Starting point is 00:36:24 She, like, she knows, she knows how to work it because she shares comments from people. So it's not just her being like, I love this thing. it's confirmation of other people who love this thing. Because she knows what she's doing. And I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean, like, that's why you, she's a good influencer because she's actually like saying, this thing works for me and I really like it. And I'm going to share it with you.
Starting point is 00:36:42 And also, here are other people who like it too and specific reasons why. Like, she'll screenshot their DMs and like their stories about why this thing work really well. And then she'll link to it. And I'm like, damn it, Sherry. So anyway, Sherry is my season pass for as an influencer to the point where I have to stay away. Wow. Well, my last season pass.
Starting point is 00:37:00 is very seasonal, actually. I have decided that the only place that I ever will buy swimsuits from is Airy. I thought you might say. So I have bought swimsuits from Erie in the past. Mostly like I'll buy bottoms from them and then a top from someone else. It kind of like mix and match stuff.
Starting point is 00:37:20 Yes. But this year won me over. I got... Is that leopard one from Erie? Mm-hmm. That's so cute. I got new suits. They fit my body.
Starting point is 00:37:30 the best. I mean, I don't, I'm not worried about kids pulling on them. They're cute. They're comfortable. They're just the most comfortable bathing suits I've ever had. They're not expensive. They're not. And I'm just like officially sold on every season.
Starting point is 00:37:49 I'm going to get airy swimsuits. That's so nice. And I feel the same way about their pajamas too. They have great pajamas like sleep pants. I have a pair of their leggings that are like you don't feel like you're wearing clothes. They're just like butter. They are.
Starting point is 00:38:02 If you put on and wear airy things, it is a bit of a season pass because I will say it wears out fairly quickly. Okay. This is not a very sustainable choice. I see. It's a bit fast fashion. Okay. Probably. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:20 So there's that. Okay. So it's not durable. Correct. It's not very durable. Correct. Okay. Which depending on your priorities.
Starting point is 00:38:30 If durability doesn't matter to you as much and you're like, no, we'll just resupply when I need the thing. Go forth. Yeah, exactly. Because some people. And I think with bathing suits in particular, some people like to have different bathing suits every year. Some people don't like to wear the same bathing suit every day. Now that. Where do you put them all?
Starting point is 00:38:50 I have a friend who has a friend who does not repeat bathing suits through the entire summer. Really? Like 80 bathing suits. Because she doesn't want to wear the same thing. that is a priority I could never match but I applaud it. I mean that's impressive. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:08 That's the one thing I like about bathing suits because it feels like a uniform. I don't have to, I only have three things to choose. Right. I feel like there is a likelihood. I would think there is a decent likelihood that if you are in a position to be able to wear 80 different bathing suits across the summer, you have a fairly like robust closet. You do, and you also have a kind of a culturally standard body. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:35 That does not need, like you can buy all your swimsuits from Target and be fine. Yeah. Which I just don't think most bodies can really do that. Do that? Yeah, Target bathing suits are a no go for me. They're a good no go for me too. My boobs do not fit under any circumstances. Yeah, and rectangles, you know, again, when I say, I am a parallelogram.
Starting point is 00:39:55 I have the same measurements around my bust, my waist, and my hip. And people are like, that's not true. And I'm like, do you want to get out a soft tape measure? Because I do. It's the same measurement all the way down, which you think would be convenient because you know your inches. You don't have to remember multiple ones. It's not like the Sherlock code where it was her measurements.
Starting point is 00:40:19 You just have one number. You just have one number. But you guys, it is, it's complicated. It is. That doesn't work well because I'm the same minus the bust part. My waist and hips are the same. My waist is actually a little bigger than my head. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Which can cause a problem with bottoms because then they just are like unintentional skirts. Yes. And that's what not what anyone he needs. Yes. Exactly. Well, I love that you have found a season past swims and way. Yeah. So if you're, if you are a parallelogram as well, Airy one piece suits are great.
Starting point is 00:40:50 And there are, I know several people who buy their suits from Airy as well and they're not parallelograms. And their suits work great. Yeah. I think they're, because I've tried their, their separates as well, and their tops and bottoms are awesome. I've just found that their one pieces are deeply comfortable because they're usually wraps involved. And I think that's why they look good on lots of different bodies because you can adjust the wrap. Right. And all of the straps are adjustable as well. Right. Love it. Okay, so that concludes our conversation on season passes. There you go. Hope that you are inspired to find
Starting point is 00:41:26 own and perhaps are like, I'm going to, I'm going to eat more mango and buy more suits for Mary. There you go. Maybe we'll see. Um, okay, so to close up, let's share what's saving our lives. Oh, I have such a great one. What is saving your life? World market moos.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Whoa, tell me more. World market makes the best moos. I didn't. What can I say? Wow. So how do you, how does one, how do you, uh, integrate a mu mu mu mu mu into your life? You just wear it. You wear it every day.
Starting point is 00:41:53 You wear it every day. Yeah. I have three mumoos. Wow. Do you wear other things with the mu-mo? No. You just wear a mu-mo. So it's like a dress, but it's like- Yeah. I mean, I also kind of call this my mu-moo. I'm wearing, it's like a very shapeless, long. It kind of has pants, but if you stood up, it would look like a dress, I call that my mumu too. Sure. It's not technically a it. It's kind of like overalls, but without having anything under it or buttons or whatever. It's like if overalls and like a romp or mumu, I'll have like a bag. Yeah. Now, I have a legit mumu.
Starting point is 00:42:22 but yeah no I just and and to be honest the world market ones are for sleep got it and I say I don't care you don't care and I wear them every day yeah you do I have exclusively worn mu mu mu's unless I am doing something where the mu mu would not be safe like if I'm climbing a ladder I don't wear my mumu sure but I have been wearing mumo's and my life is better oh man and it's from world market specifically. That's amazing. They just have a very small section. It's like you have six moos. Yeah. That's it. To choose from. But I'm telling you they are so well made. They are so comfortable. They're so light and airy. I don't sweat as much. And I've found that I am very angry person when I am hot. Sure. And because I've discovered this about myself, I'm trying to figure things out. Sure. You need to support that.
Starting point is 00:43:20 So that is what's saving my life right now is I've discovered a pair of clothing or a piece of clothing that I can wear where I'm not super hot that is cute. I want to wear clothes where I don't feel like I'm wearing clothes. This is a fair. This has always been my goal. Yes. My thing that's saving my life is not nearly as specific as that. It's actually one of the most generic things one could ever say, but it is the only answer right now and it is reading. I just, I am like a voracious reader right now.
Starting point is 00:43:46 It is the only thing I want to do. and it is such a gift to me. And one of the things that's been really fun, that's like a side thing. I shared this on Instagram a few weeks ago, but it's one of those coloring pages with the book spines and you fill in what you're reading. Like, and you sort of colored in whatever.
Starting point is 00:44:02 I saw that. It was very cool. And I'm just having so much fun, just having this like sweet little visual representation of the books that I've read. But I've read, I mean, we're at the end of June right now. And I finished last night my 64th book of the year, which is like, I don't usually read that many in one year. like I just can't I can't stop reading yeah I'm I think I'm in my 50s right now and you do a ton of
Starting point is 00:44:24 audiobooks too right you know or not as many as usually I've been doing more physical reading which has been really nice get it yeah yeah they're both they both count everybody yeah absolutely I've just I've found myself wanting the lack of stimulation oh right because of the sound because of the sound yeah I've found myself like I'll put my AirPods in to cancel out sound and like read at night. Like so there's no, there's not even sound in the house. There's just something about having like,
Starting point is 00:44:55 you know, maybe like a isolation. It's like you're in a deprivation chamber. Honestly. Yeah. Sometimes I'll do that and I'll read with earbuds in and I will play like ocean waves. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:09 Or some sort of like nature ambient thing. I really like 417 Hertz. Is that like a like a frequency, like a white noise for you? Yeah. Nice. Yeah. Nice.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Or brown noise. I love brown noise. I sleep to brown noise. Brown noise is far superior to white noise. I moved our, our like portable Bluetooth speaker into our bedroom. Mm-hmm. So that I could have like a full cinematic sound of brown noise at night.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Because I was just playing it on my phone like while it was charging next to my pillow. Sure. That's what I did. And I was like, all right. I could bring in the sound. Oh, that is so legit. I have not gone to that level yet. It's really great.
Starting point is 00:45:46 But no, I can't. That's how I take my 17-minute naps as I just turn on my brown noise, like right by my ear. There's something about the frequency. Yeah. That's just superior. So good. We're so glad you guys listened. I'm so glad you were here.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Thank you for having. Sister Hannah, it's always a treat. People, I love, you know, we used to do this once a month. And the number of people who are like, is Hannah coming back soon? When is Hannah going to be here again? I'm like, she's coming. I promise in June. Oh, that's so lovely to be here.
Starting point is 00:46:15 So lovely to have you here. Thank you guys for listening. And until next time, be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't. I'm Kendra. She's Hannah. See you next time. Have you ever felt like you were living just a B or B plus life?
Starting point is 00:46:50 It's so dangerous to live that. More dangerous than a B minus or a C plus life? Because when you're living a B or B plus life, you don't change it. You think it's good enough. Is it? I'm Susie Welch. I host a podcast called Becoming You. People think, okay, an A plus life is not available to me, but there is a way.
Starting point is 00:47:09 We are all in the process of becoming ourselves. Listen to becoming you wherever you get your podcasts.
