Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
Let's talk about relationships.
Finding the right spouse or partner who not only supports your personal life,
but also understands and contributes to your business goals.
From my experience from transitioning from law enforcement to launching multiple successful
businesses within the past seven years, I've learned that the journey of an entrepreneur
is rarely a solo mission. Having a partner who shares your vision or at least very least supports your aspirations can be a game changer.
It was for me.
Let's dive into what it means to have a supportive partner in this context.
It's not just about someone cheering from the sidelines.
I've had that all my life, guys.
It's about having someone who actively participates in your world, offers perspective when you face challenges and stands by you when the going gets tough.
So I'm going to give you guys a little bit of advice from my past relationships while
I was building my eight-figure businesses.
First, communication is key. In my journey, having open lines of communication has been
indispensable. It's important to articulate not just your goals, but also the potential
challenges your partner may need to prepare for, like long hours or financial instability in the
early stages.
When I was with my ex of seven years back in my early 20s, guys, she was very, very
comfortable with life.
She was actually a high maintenance lady.
Okay, we got along.
We had fun.
But when it came down to business, she did not want to level up in life.
I was the complete opposite. And this is why I say that not only do you need somebody that's
going to be there to support you on the sidelines, but also somebody who's willing to go into the
game with you. Secondly, you have to align your values with your partner. This doesn't mean your
partner needs to be a mirror image of you, but they need to have the congruent core values
that actually align with yours. For example, if long-term financial security is a mutual value,
this alignment can make it easier to
navigate the risks associated with entrepreneurship together.
So like I said, my ex, she wanted to stay comfortable, but at the same time, she didn't
want to go ahead and seek more, meaning that she didn't want to start her own business.
She didn't want to get promoted at work.
She just liked to coast.
She liked to do her nine to five
and just come home and relax, watch Netflix.
And that's fine.
I'm okay with doing that on the weekends.
But when it comes to Monday and Friday,
I'm about my grind.
And we didn't have that line of communication.
I try to communicate that with her
and she tried to communicate with me saying like, why do you want to, you know, want to be, have more money? Why do
you want to be so greedy? At the end of the day, guys, we have different visions. So you really
have to look at it from this perspective. Does your partner value your vision? Does your partner
value what you are saying to them? Are they hearing you?
That's what you need to ask yourself. It's also vital to look for skills or qualities of your
partner. Perhaps you're a visionary thinker like me, but not so great with the day-to-day details.
Now, my current partner right now, she excels in organization and management,
and she actually balances my strengths and we make a winning team, both in life and business.
We're just getting stronger and stronger every single month, every single year, guys. So this
is a massive support system that I encourage you and your
partner to communicate about. Talk about the day-to-day things that go on either your business
or on the professional side. It's going to get you guys communicating a lot more. And guess what?
It's actually going to make your relationship a lot more exciting. Respect for each other's role
is crucial. There needs to be
a mutual understanding that whether roles in the business are direct or supportive,
both contributions are valuable. For instance, when I started my first company, even though my
partner wasn't involved in the day-to-day operations, her encouragement and her handling
of other responsibilities enabled me to focus on
fully growing the business. So what does this mean? Delegation, guys. Look, when I talk to my
ex-partner and when I talk now currently to my current partner, I set the standards. I set the
rules as far as what I need from them as far as responsibilities. Now, it's not to say that I
go ahead and I don't contribute to what they tell me they want to do on the day to day, right? But
if I need that support system, I'm the main breadwinner, and they are okay with that, then
I'm going to go ahead and delegate the day-to-day personal responsibilities that we have at the household, like possibly cooking dinner, possibly cleaning the house, possibly going ahead and taking care of the errands while I take care of business.
And it goes vice versa, whether you're a woman or a man.
Lastly, ensure that both of you find personal fulfillment and growth.
This is huge, guys. Okay, it goes
along with the communication and knowing exactly what each other's roles are. A relationship where
only one person's dream is prioritized can lead to resentment from your partner. This has happened
to me, guys. I haven't had exes before where they resent to me because they were like, well, why do you make it always about you, you, you, you?
And that that also comes from not being experienced in relationships and in life.
So you got to encourage and support each other's aspirations and celebrate each other's victories, whether they are related to business or personal achievements.
So to end this pod, finding the right partner isn't just about sharing your life.
It's about sharing the journey towards achieving your dreams.
The right partner can make the path of entrepreneurship more enjoyable and sustainable.
It's about sustainable, guys.
You want a partner that you're going to spend the rest of your life with,
whether you're ready for it or not. It's going to cause less stress. You're going to be able
to focus on business more. And at the end of the day, trust me, you build a successful business
with a successful partner. So reminding you that the strength of your relationships can
significantly impact the success of your business endeavors.
Choose a partner who understands, supports,
and complements your business vision.
So keep building strong foundations
in all aspects of your life.
Here's to finding and fostering the right relationship,
the right partner, and partnerships
