The Level Up Podcast w/ Paul Alex - Graduating from the Guru
Episode Date: June 18, 2026Growth requires gratitude. But it also requires movement. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why outgrowing a mentor, mastermind, or coaching program is a natural part of... leveling up in business. Let’s be real… The person who helped you reach your first level… May not be the same person who can guide you to the next one. And that does not mean they failed you. It means the season changed. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why different levels require different mentors How staying in the wrong room too long can slow your growth Why graduating from a mentor should be done with gratitude, not guilt How upgrading your circle resets your hunger and expands your vision The truth is simple: You cannot stay in the same room forever just because that room once helped you grow. At some point… You may know the answers. You may be the highest performer. You may no longer be challenged. And when that happens, the next move is not disrespect. It is elevation. High-level operators audit their environment constantly. They honor the people who helped them start. They take the lessons. They leave with class. And they step into rooms where they are once again surrounded by giants. Because growth requires humility. It requires courage. It requires the willingness to become a student again. Graduate with gratitude. Upgrade the room. Find the next mountain. And keep leveling up. Your Network is your NETWORTH! Twizzlers keep the fun going.
Yeah, I know.
I just stopped whatever you were listening to to tell you that Twizzlers keep the fun going.
Well, irony isn't my forte, but twisty, chewy, yummy Twizzler sure is.
So think of Twizzlers as a little palate cleanser for whatever's queued up,
which, by the way, should be coming very soon.
Like any second now.
Okay, Twizzlers, time to keep the fun going.
Welcome to the Level Up podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
What's up, everyone?
Welcome back to the Level Up podcast.
I'm Paul Alex.
And today we are talking about a completely natural but uncomfortable phase of business growth.
Outgrowing your mentors.
Because let's be real.
If you stay in a mastermind or a coaching program long after you have surpassed the teachings,
simply out of a sense of loyalty, you are stunting your own evolution.
Let's break down how to graduate and move forward.
First, realize that different levels require completely different guides.
The coach who helped you get your business from zero to $100,000 is rarely the same person who can take you to $10 million.
It is not an insult to their ability.
It is just a matter of scale.
If you are sitting in a room where you already know all the answers and you are the highest earner,
the room can no longer serve you.
Whether you are seeking tax strategies or elite leadership training, you must constantly upgrade your circle.
If you stay too long, you kill your momentum.
Second, you have to sever the cord with absolute gratitude.
People do not move to the next tier by badmouting the people who help them start.
They do it by acknowledging the foundation.
and intentionally stepping into a bigger arena.
So, instead of feeling guilty for leaving a group,
thank the leader for their impact.
And gracefully, exit.
Make your continued growth
the ultimate testament to their initial coaching.
Lastly, seeking out bigger giants
is the ultimate cheat code.
When you actively put yourself back
at the bottom of the food chain
in a room full of absolute titans,
your hunger completely resets,
ruthless humility,
constant environment auditing
and an unquenchable,
desire to learn, create a legendary trajectory.
When you graduate from the old level, you conquer the new one.
Bottom line, you cannot stay in grade school forever just because you like the teacher.
Take the lessons, graduate with class, and find the next mountain.
Because when you do, you will scale higher than ever.
Thanks for tuning into the level up podcast.
I'm Paul Alex reminding you.
Elevation requires relocation.
Upgrade the room.
Stay humble.
And as always, keep leveling up.
