Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
All right, guys, let's talk about relationships here.
So guys, I'm not going to lie to you.
I used to be a little player back in the day, okay? Back in my twenties. And what I can tell
you from life experience, okay? The biggest difference that, you know, I transitioned as a
man as I got older in my twenties, because I started to see what really fulfilled me in life. And, you know, going out, having fun, going to the club,
getting drunk, having one nice dance. I get it, you know, but at the end of the day, you have to
focus on working on yourself. So to share a short story with you guys, you know, at the time I got
into a serious relationship right smack in the middle of my mid-20s. This was actually one of my longest relationships. It was close to seven years. And I can tell you it was one of the most toxic relationships I've ever been in my life. a man during this relationship because while this girl was with me when I transitioned from
corporate America, when I transitioned to being a cop and then a detective, man, it was one of the
most stressful times in my life, guys. And what I could tell you is like when I was going through it,
you know, the last few years in this relationship, it was crazy. Just imagine guys, if you guys were working, um, 40 plus hours, 80 plus hours, and you go home, there's no food at the house. Uh,
your spouse would expect you to actually buy food or, or cook. Right. Um, and then on top of that
height maintenance. So think about it like this, guys. If you have a spouse right now who is not
adding any value to your life, not making it easier for you, and you are the breadwinner,
get rid of them. I'm not even trying to be toxic here. I'm staying neutral as possible, guys.
But I'm trying to level you up today in 2024. Okay. Because in my twenties,
if I would have chosen the right woman, the good, the good woman that, you know, knows
how to value a man. And I'm talking about if you're the breadwinner,
then you should be straight up with your spouse and let them know what your expectations are.
Listen, wifey, girlfriend, spouse, I need a home-cooked meal every single day when I get off
work, please. I'm coming home hungry. I need my lunch packed. I need my house cleaned. Guys,
and this is not to say, okay, we're being egotistic here saying that we cannot
cook ourselves or clean.
But if you are the person, okay, whether female or male, that is bringing in the money, the
other person has to bring up the slack and actually support you.
So in my situation, I was dealing with a very toxic spouse at the time.
She would not only ask for expensive luxury bags, she would want expensive vacations. She would want
to go out to eat all the time. She even asked me, she's like, man, you've bought like four or five
cars during the time that we've been in this entire relationship. When are you going to buy
me a car? We weren't even married. We weren't even married. And she was expecting me to buy her a car.
But see, guys, I got blinded. I got blinded by the beautiful woman that I physically wanted.
And that's the number one mistake we make as men. I'm telling you right now. I made that mistake several times.
I'm just keeping it real, okay?
But I'm telling you,
you got to find someone
who's going to be right for you.
I have found that person, okay?
I have found somebody
that I can call my best friend.
If you can't call the girl you're dating
or the man you're dating right now
your best friend, meaning that you wouldn't be friends with them girl you're dating or the man you're dating right now your best friend,
meaning that you wouldn't be friends with them unless you were dating them.
Get rid of them.
Don't waste your time.
Guys, it's 2024.
Life goes like this.
I don't even remember my 20s anymore.
I'm about to be 37 in 11 months.
I know it sounds crazy, but I'm just saying.
That's how you keep track of time in your thirties. So the moral of the story guys, is that if you're in a toxic relationship, your spouse is
not adding any value to your life. Get rid of them. Life is short. It's time for you to level up.
