Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
All right, guys, so let's dive into this, man.
This is a subject that I really don't like talking
about, but at the end of the day, I feel like I have to tell you guys about this part of my life.
So pain, let's talk about pain. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs that I know
have gone through a lot of pain, guys. And my story is no different, man. I, um, when I was in law enforcement, I was working,
uh, about my fourth, fifth year, I was an arcadist detective for this specific task force.
And I was working anywhere between 80 to a hundred hour work weeks, guys.
Imagine that. Imagine how many of you guys work more than 40 hours? Well, guys on a regular for
majority of my career in law enforcement and
for majority of the first responders over there, that's pretty normal. So I wasn't doing it because
I was greedy with money. I was doing it because I actually had a love for the career. I loved
being the police and it was just more of the investigation. Every day was different.
It really built me to be a leader. But during the last two years, you know, I had a lot of things
happen around my personal life. You know, my personal relationship was going to shit with
my ex-girlfriend of seven years during that time. You know, she was always complaining about me not
being home, me being about the job. I always talk about police work, all that time. She was always complaining about me not being home,
me being about the job. I always talk about police work, all that jazz.
And then also, I'm a big family guy. So I'm big when my mom, my mom raised me since I was little,
when she got divorced with my biological father. And then I love my stepfather, my entire family.
And I wasn't spending a lot of time with them because I was so blinded by the career.
I wanted to get promoted to a sergeant from being a detective.
And I was a performer, guys.
I was an award-winning detective.
I always got accommodations.
I was one of the leaders in my department out of 800 officers. And then also I went ahead and started thinking like, wow, is working this much worth it?
And it wasn't until a critical incident happened where my biological dad actually died.
And it was actually pretty dramatic. My mom, she had a mini stroke. And then my stepfather,
he ended up starting getting sick, pre know, pre-dialysis.
And all this hit me at the same year, guys.
And it was crazy because, you know, I went from being focused on the career to actually
being in my feels, how you guys say, you know.
And I just wasn't the exact same person anymore.
There'd be days that I just did not want to
get out of bed. And I was just like, what's wrong with me? You know? And I was expressing this to
my mom and everything. My mom was just like, you're good. And you know, you're, you're a
police officer, you know, you need to get up and, and, you know, go handle business. And that's just
the way my mom was, you know, she's, she's, uh, she's from Peru and, you know, she's been a hard
worker ever since she came to the States.
And that's the way she always taught me.
She raised me to work hard.
That's why I love my mother so much.
But to go back to it, guys, I used all that pain to find a secondary source of income
during that time.
And as funny as it sounds, because when I told my coworkers this the first time, they
were like, dude, that's so awkward that you got into that industry. And I'm talking about an issue of
ATMs. Typically now, you know, in 2024, people know me as like the ATM guy, right? Even though
I didn't choose that label, right? But that's just what they label me online because essentially
that's what one of my companies does. And when I started with that side hustle, you know, I started
telling people about it. I
started telling my parents about it and people just shit it on me. People just shit on me.
So on top of me having to deal with the pain of, you know, having to figure out like how to work
less, I tried to start a new business because, you know, I was really trying to get out of the trap that I was in.
And what I always like to say, to me, it was essentially called the American trap.
I was working 8,200 hours. I was keeping up with the Joneses. I had a house, I had a car,
I had everything that you could think of. And that was my mom's old American dream.
But to me, it wasn't. My American dream, which I like to call the new American dream, is financial freedom. And what I could tell you, if you're going through a tremendous amount of
pain, no matter where you're at in life right now, use it. Use it to fuel you to actually prove
everybody wrong. Use this story. Share this with someone who is going through a massive amount of
pain in their life because
they're not alone.
There are millions of people right now suffering inside and you wouldn't even be able to tell.
So I'm telling you this right now from a person to another person.
You got this.
Remember, I always have your six.
