Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now. How many of you guys feel stuck at your job right now? Well, I'm going to share a little story on how you guys can actually get promoted right away. Let's start with when I was in corporate America. Guys, when I was in corporate America, I was a glorified dish machine repair guy who did inside sales for a large chemical company that sold soap for dish machines, laundry machines, cleaning floors, hospitals, everything you could think of, right? And I hated the entry-level job that I had, but I was getting a paycheck.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Well, I had many of my coworkers say, man, this sucks. I've been here for like five, six years years and man, I want to quit. I want to go do something else, but I don't know what to do. Guys, I took what they told me and I told myself that is not going to be me. That is not going to be me. I'm going to figure out how to get promoted. The next level from where I was at was wearing the suit, getting promoted as commission-only territory sales manager. And the only way I was able to figure out how to get promoted right away was I actually went and I talked to the best territory sales manager. And I asked him, I was like, hey man, could I buy you
Starting point is 00:01:46 lunch? He's like, yeah, sure, Paul. Went to go and buy him lunch. And I sat with him and I told him, close mouth don't get fed guys. I tell him, look, dude, I hate wearing this uniform. I want to be where you're at. What did you do to get to your position? And the number one thing he told me was like, Paul, you need to talk to more people. You need the reps. You need to get better at sales. And that's exactly what I did, guys. Within the next 12 months, I actually showed my peers. I showed my supervisor. And it got to the point where I was the number one sales manager in my area for that company. I got promoted. I got promoted within a year. And then you had a lot of my peers. Oh, dude, that guy's a kiss ass. Oh, that guy doesn't deserve to get promoted. He's only here
Starting point is 00:02:41 for a year. Oh, they're favoritism. You know, he must be doing something. He must be friends with the boss. No guys, it's actually because I actually reached out to the best of the best in my company. And I asked for help. See, for most of us, we're very prideful, especially if you're in a sales position. If you're brand new to a company, you want to go ahead and progress, show them your skills, right? But what you don't know is what you don't know, guys. And as long as you stay a student of the game, no matter what niche, industry, business, guys, people love when you ask for help, okay? It doesn't show that you're weak. It just shows that you're not educated in that specific niche or skill set.
Starting point is 00:03:34 So people are more than willing to help you, okay? Now, when I jumped into law enforcement, it was the exact same thing, guys. I was a young buck in the police. I was a rookie. I was hungry. I was like, man, I want to make detective. I want to make detective. I don't want to wait five years. The standard in law enforcement is that you need to have five years of street experience as a patrol officer in order to even get chosen to go into an investigation unit. Guys, I was able to do it within less than two years. How?
Starting point is 00:04:05 Because I started asking questions. I start putting it out there. I told my sergeant who recently got promoted. He was a very young sergeant. And I told him, I was like, hey, man, you know, I'm not trying to stay in patrol for that long, you know, five years. I understand it's very short. But at the end of the day, I believe in myself. I believe that I have the skillset to actually progress and become a really
Starting point is 00:04:32 good investigator. And he actually spoke to the command staff, to the executive staff. And he said like, Hey, you know, this, this guy, he's a go-getter. He's putting in work. You should really look at him. If you're looking to pick from somebody from patrol to go into one of the investigation units. And guess what happened? I got shoulder tapped. I got shoulder tapped because I showed my work ethic. I showed that I wanted it, guys.
Starting point is 00:04:58 This is the number one strategy that no matter in what industry you're in, closed mouths don't get fed. Ask for help from the best person in your field. And trust me, it's going to level you up, guys. I promise you. Hope this helps. Remember, I always have your six. Make sure to share this episode with your family, friends, and anyone you care about.
