Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. Starting point is 00:00:16 Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now. Okay, guys, so I'm actually gonna share with you very good secret of mine that I have used to become very successful, not only in sales, but actually talking to somebody and being able to convince anyone to buy from you guys, okay? And what I like to call it, it's called verbal judo. This is actually a term that I learned in law enforcement. How did I learn this?
Starting point is 00:00:48 Well, actually, one of my field training officers in the very humble beginnings, right after police academy said, Paul, the one thing that's going to help you out throughout your entire law enforcement career is learning how to talk to people. And we call this verbal judo. Okay. Verbal judo is you being able to calm the situation, be able to control the situation, no matter what type of situation it is. Now, I took this perspective into business. I was able to use what I learned in law enforcement as what we call it verbal judo and be able to deploy it into my sales calls, be able to deploy it and talking to actual employees
Starting point is 00:01:35 and just anybody in general. How many of you guys, if you're a business owner, if you work in customer service or you work in sales, have dealt with an angry client or customer. Okay. I can tell you, I have dealt with plenty guys. Okay. In my lifetime, I'm 36 right now, but the one thing to always remember, it's a win-win. If you can come out of that conversation with that angry customer smiling and actually content with your work. And the reason why I tell you this is because if you stay cool, calm, collective, knowing your ABCs, which is the acronym for always be cool, that means that you have been able
Starting point is 00:02:21 to illustrate that you know how to use verbal judo. You know how to calm the situation. You know how to talk to folks and you know how to control yourself. At the end of the day, that is one of the biggest skill sets in sales is learning how to use your soft skills, learning how to go ahead and actually communicating yourself with just about anyone in any situation. The best communicators are the money makers, guys. Remember this, and I hope this helps you out. Remember, I always have your six.
