Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
Okay, so let's talk about actually having cashflow to actually invest into either a side hustle or a
business that you want to start up while you're working your nine to five or while you're in
school. What I have to tell you guys is I can only tell you from personal experience. So let's talk
about when I first entered into the police force at the age of 26. During that time, I was transitioning from
corporate America as a sales guy. I was already making six figs and that's, that's figures for
some of you guys. And I was going into the police department for a better opportunity for fulfillment.
But then also I saw that first responders also have unlimited overtime.
And for some of the naysayers that are listening to this, they're like, oh, he's taking advantage of the tax dollars.
No, guys.
Let me explain exactly how overtime works as a cop.
Now, if you guys ever attended like a concert, if you guys ever went to like a Home Depot, if you guys ever went to like any of those
retail stores where you actually see an actual cop standing there at security, guess what?
The payment that the cop gets for working that overtime comes from a private company. It doesn't
come from the actual government, guys. So yes, those companies that are within city limits of whatever city you're working in,
they're able to go ahead and basically rent lease. And that's exactly what happens. So if you work
in a major metropolitan city as a cop, more than likely, you're going to have the chance to work
for unlimited overtime if you like. And that was part of the strategy that I used to build my
wealth. I went from corporate America. I was just like, man, it's literally the same thing every
single month. And I'm sort of tired of this. I'm not really fulfilled from doing sales. So let me
try something new. So I went into law enforcement, but the key strategy that I used was I want to go
into law enforcement, number one, to help people.
But then number two, I want to work at a major metropolitan city that I know I'll be able to
work special events. I'll know I'll be able to have overtime and I can make some extra cash to
either save or buy more real estate or invest the money into starting more side hustles. I was
going into law enforcement and then corporate America with the entrepreneurship mindset since the
age of 18, guys.
So what I recommend that you guys do is live below your means.
This is what I got caught up on while I was making $250,000 in law enforcement, okay?
I was keeping up with the Joneses.
I had coworkers that were like, hey, man, let's go ahead and actually do a Vegas
trip or let's go to Scottsdale for the weekend. And then, you know, you got these group of guys
and gals that'd be like, Hey man, let's drop 14,000 on bottle service. You know, for one night
we can all afford it. We all make over a high six figures and blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, dude,
that is a lot of money. Like, no.
So I've always been the type of person to always work, but then also save my money because
I had the plan from the beginning to invest into either a side hustle or a business that
I believed in that I had the vision for.
And that's exactly what I did towards the end of my law enforcement career, where I was
just like, you know what? It is the right time. I also had some critical incidents happen within
my family where I was just like, dude, it's time for me to invest the money that I've been saving
all this overtime that I've been working. And that's exactly what I did. I stayed very disciplined,
lived below my means for the meantime, didn't upgrade my lifestyle, wasn't just spending.
I was actually being very frugal and I highly recommend that every single one of you guys are
doing. And many of you guys might be thinking, well, Paul, I don't have the opportunity to have
a job that has overtime, or I don't have the opportunity where I have an uncapped salary
like you did. Well, guys, I highly recommend that you guys get into one or two fields.
And this is just from my personal experience. Okay? So take it or leave it if you want.
Number one, become a first responder.
Why not?
You could do it.
They need good people, especially nowadays.
Or number two, get into sales.
If you work at a commission-based job,
your actual potential for commissions is uncapped.
And at the end of the day, it's about leveling up you, your family,
and what you believe in for building generational wealth and your future. Don't get caught up in the
hype and don't get caught up in pressing other guys. This is the way that you're able to actually
grow yourself and level up for your future self. Take care. Also, keep the five-star reviews on iTunes coming. This episode is going to help change the way the world thinks
and will help everyone level up in their life.
