Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
Today, we're gonna be tackling a crucial topic to my heart, how to move from your past
to your present and focusing on building a brighter future.
This is something that I had to navigate personally in the past, transitioning from my career
in law enforcement of being comfortable to going ahead to the uncomfortable environment
of entrepreneurship.
Now, we all have a past.
I have a past. I have a past. Almost everybody you know
has a past with highs and lows that have shaped us. But sometimes our past can hold us back,
especially if it's filled with setbacks or regrets. The challenge is not to forget the past,
but to learn from it and not let it define our future. First, acknowledge the past and its effect on you.
This involves accepting and understanding your experiences without letting them control your
actions today. Look guys, for me, leaving a structured law enforcement environment to start
a business, it was scary. I was scared. I had to accept while that like my past career gave me a ton of skills
and made me the leader that I am today. It was time for me to develop new skills on my new path
to starting multi-million dollar businesses. Look, I always tell people this, you have to get
uncomfortable to get comfortable. Next, I set clear, actionable
goals for my future. Goals give you direction and motivation, shifting your focus from what has been
to what can be. Make sure these goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant,
and time bound. I like to call this, and acronym for this guys is actually SMART. This approach
helped me focus on my energy and what I could build rather than what I had left behind. So look,
for a lot of us, we all want to make our first million dollars, right? And in order to get there,
you have to start with baby steps. Rome wasn't built in a day. So what is the next step that you guys can do to actually go
ahead and progress in your business? And now take it day by day, guys, week by week and build slowly.
But as long as you are progressing every day, you are successful. Cultivating a positive mindset was key to my success. This doesn't mean ignoring
the negative aspects of the past, but choosing to see the potential for growth and opportunity ahead.
Look, I used to use techniques like positive affirmations, visualizing my goals and my wins,
and even meditation, guys. But meditation can reinforce the positive outlook
and keep your focus on the future.
So implementing these techniques
that I have implemented to become successful, guys,
really helped me.
I highly recommend it.
If you've never meditated before in your life,
look, just go on YouTube.
There's easy instructions to look it up
and you'll be able to help yourself with actually decompressing and focusing on what you need to focus on, which is your future and your why.
This is one of the most important aspects of this.
Look, surrounding yourself with people who support your future aspirations.
Often, it was my fear of moving forward that was fueled by basically the haters guys people that
were like oh you you're you're not gonna be better or who do you think you are or whatnot that fueled
me guys the pain the anger that's what made me motivated to go ahead every single day and work
on my business because i was like you know what what? I'm better than this. I'm better than these haters trying to get at me, trying to keep me down. And
for a lot of you listening to this right now, you can relate. So surrounding yourself with
forward-thinking, supportive individuals can have an immensely positive impact on your journey.
They're going to remind you of where you're headed, not where you've been.
And lastly, embrace change. Okay. You should love change and take proactive step towards your
future. Change can be uncomfortable, but it's also a sign of growth. Each step, no matter how small, is a step away from the past and towards the new possibilities.
The future you.
The CEO you.
You got to regularly review your progression and adjust your actions as needed.
So what does that mean, guys?
That means that, look, you got to be a planner.
All right? Trust me. I'm control chaos.
You guys are probably laughing right now. You're like, Paul, you're keeping it real.
But look, in reality, I know myself. I know the good and I know the bad. Okay. Not every day I'm
motivated to work, guys. I'm going to be honest with you. But I still do it because I got a plan of where I'm headed to by next year.
Okay.
I have a plan of what I need to accomplish by the time I'm 40.
So you got a plan for success, not failure.
Moving from your past and focusing on your future requires accepting it.
You got to accept it.
You got to forgive it.
You got to set goals and have a positive mindset, but you also have to embrace supportive relationships from your family and
friends. And look, you got to lead by example. You got to be proactive on this. Only you can go
ahead and make these changes in your life. It's about creating a future that excites you more than whatever you left behind. This is why we call it the past, guys. Let it go. Let go of
the bad relationships. Let go of the mistakes you made in life. Everybody makes mistakes. We are
human. I'm here to tell you as a friend, as a mentor, that you can do this too. All right, guys. So I'm reminding you
that your past does not define your future. You do. Take charge, move forward, and build the future
you deserve. Until next time, keep looking forward, keep planning, keep progressing. The future is
yours to shape. Let's level up. Remember, I always have
your six. Make sure to share this episode with your family, friends, and anyone you care about.
