Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
Now, at the age of 36, guys,
I have lived three different lives.
I was in corporate America for six years.
I was in law enforcement for seven years and full-time entrepreneurship coming up in four years now.
Life is passing me by.
And what I could tell is everybody always asks me, I still remember this, even my mother when I was in law enforcement,
Paul, why do you do things with so urgency?
You need to calm down.
You need to enjoy life.
I was like, mom, I'm just getting older.
And as I get older, I get more tired.
I need more sleep.
So I'm trying to do everything while I have energy now.
So then I don't have to work as hard when I'm older.
So I had to figure out how to take shortcuts to success.
And I don't mean by cheating.
I don't mean by doing anything negative.
No, no, no, no, no.
I'm trying to figure out how to do it the right way, how to do good business, how to
go ahead and level up faster than my peers, my competitors, but in a short amount of time.
And what I figured out, the biggest needle mover that you guys need
in order to become successful in order for you guys to get promoted at work, for you guys to
be the best at work or to actually jumpstart your career, your entrepreneurship journey,
your business, your offer, whatever it is that you're trying to do and level up,
you need to focus on networking and relationships. And when I say networking and relationships, I'm not talking about going out and having drinks
with a client or a prospect or anyone that you're trying to influence to buy from you. No, no, no,
what I'm talking about is actually showing your value to your clients, showing value to your business partners, and actually showing them
your worth. And how do you do this? Close mouths don't get fed, guys. Some of the biggest business
relationships that I've had in the past three years, okay, has been by me just sending a simple
direct message on Instagram or Facebook. And I'm very direct guys. So I love the old school
mentality of actually sending voice notes. I think by talking to people rather than text,
it's a lot more powerful and it comes off more genuine. So I want them to hear my voice and put
a picture of me to my voice. And usually when I approach them, I go with of equal value. And what
do I mean by that? I mean that I'm willing to pay a business partner who I'm trying to build a
relationship with where they can make money and I can make money or they get value and I get value.
It's never a one-way street, guys. Life doesn't work out like that, especially in the business
world when you're dealing with either millionaires or multimillionaires. At the end of
the day, yes, you guys could go ahead and get information or get strategies on YouTube. That's
great. But I've never heard of anyone who has gone ahead and gone on YouTube and become highly
successful without actually paying for a mentor or building relationships
through networking. And for me, the fastest shortcut I have found was actually paying for
mentorship that's been able to help me in every single business that I've had. Okay. And I'm
talking about ATMs. I'm talking about credit card machines. I'm talking about digital marketing.
I'm talking about life just in general. When I was in law enforcement, I actually would approach the best officers in my
unit or in units that I was looking at to be in. Like I'll give you a great example. When I wanted
to be a narcotics detective for a regional task force. I approached the current detective that was in that unit,
did extremely well. And I picked his brain. I was like, hey, man, I'm looking to apply to be
in that task force. What can you tell me to be above the competition? Because I wanted it, guys.
That was my dream at that time. And he told me, he says, like, hey, man, I would recommend
that you actually approach the command staff or approach the, he says like, Hey man, I would recommend that you actually approach
the command staff or approach the Sergeant of that, you know, the Lieutenant that you,
and just go in there and just introduce yourself, tell them that you're applying,
that you're looking forward to it. And if there's anything else that we could do.
And that's exactly what I did, guys. I went out there out of my comfort zone.
I approached the supervisors of that unit. I told them who I was. And then when it came time
to actually go and interview for that
specific unit, guess what? They remember me. They remember me. So it really gave me that edge that I
needed above my competition. And then ultimately I ranked number one, became a narcotics detective,
but actually became an award-winning detective within a short amount of time, guys. So that just
tells you your network is your net worth. I hope that helps you
out. Take care. Remember, I always have your six. Make sure to share this episode with your family,
