The Level Up Podcast w/ Paul Alex - The Dangerous Cost of Taking Every Opinion Seriously
Episode Date: July 27, 2026Not every opinion deserves your attention. And not every request deserves access to your time. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast w/ Paul Alex, we break down why taking every opinion, every fav...or, every “quick question,” and every piece of free advice seriously can quietly drain your focus, weaken your authority, and lower the perceived value of your expertise. Because free access is not always harmless. When you constantly give away your best strategies over coffee, in casual conversations, or through unpaid favors, people can start treating your experience like it is easy to get and easy to ignore. Paul explains why your knowledge has value because it came from years of execution, mistakes, pressure, and learning what actually works. That is not free. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why people often do not value what they do not invest in How free consulting can weaken your premium positioning Why boundaries separate serious clients from casual opinions How charging for your time increases respect and commitment Why every opinion, request, or quick question does not deserve unlimited access to you The truth is simple: Your attention is an asset. Your knowledge is an asset. Your experience is an asset. And when you give all of it away without boundaries, you train people to treat your expertise like a casual favor instead of a serious advantage. High-level operators do not run free help desks. They protect their time. They filter out the wrong voices. They set the standard. And they deliver massive value to the people who are willing to respect the process. Stop giving away the blueprint for the price of coffee. Stop taking every opinion seriously. Protect your knowledge. Charge your rate. Deliver the goods. And keep leveling up. My name is Peter Parker, but I'm also Spider-Man.
This Thursday, we're faced with a threat.
That can be anyone.
The world may have forgotten Peter Parker.
I'm just a neighbor, friendly neighbor.
But he hasn't forgotten them.
Sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing.
That's my responsibility.
Talk to Banner?
I didn't know you could get that big.
Spider-Man, brand-new day in theaters Thursday.
Welcome to the Level Up podcast.
I'm your host.
Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together. Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now.
What's up, everyone. Welcome back to the level up podcast. I'm Paul Alex. And today we are destroying a habit that completely devalues your brand working for free. Because let's be real. If you come,
constantly give away your absolute best strategies over a casual cup of coffee just to be nice.
You are training the market to completely disrespect your time.
Let's break down why you must put a price tag on your brain.
First, realize that people do not value what they do not pay for.
Too many founders think that handing out free consulting will eventually lead to a massive contract.
It almost never does.
The prospect takes your genius, implements it poorly,
and then blames you when it fails.
If you give away the blueprint
without charging for the architecture,
you are acting like a charity.
Whether someone wants to pick your brain
or ask a quick favor,
free advice diminishes your authority.
If you give it away,
you kill your premium positioning.
Second, you have to draw a hard line
between friendship and business.
People do not go to their doctor
and ask for a free surgery
just because they know them.
You have to treat your intellectual property
with the exact same respect.
So instead of agreeing to a two-hour brainstorming session for $0,000, send them a link to book a paid consultation.
Make them prove they are serious about their own growth.
Lastly, charging for your time filters out the tire kickers instantly.
When you enforce your boundaries, the cheap prospects disappear and the high-level operators remain.
Iron-clad self-worth, strict boundaries, and extreme value delivery create a highly sought-after expert.
When you charge what you are worth, you only attract people who can afford it.
Bottom line, your knowledge is the product of years of brutal execution.
Do not give it away for the price of a coffee.
Set the fee, demand the respect, and deliver the goods.
Because when you do, you will be valued more than ever.
Thanks for tuning into the Level Up podcast.
I'm Paul Alex reminding you, you run a business, not a free help desk.
Protect your knowledge, charge your rate, and as always, keep leveling up.
