In thi...s episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why founders need to pay themselves properly, separate business wealth from personal wealth, and build financial stability outside the company. Welcome to the level up podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
What's up, everyone?
Welcome back to the level up podcast.
I'm Paul Alex.
And today we are destroying a martyr mindset that keeps increasingly.
incredibly successful entrepreneurs totally broke in their personal lives,
the refusal to pay yourself.
Because let's be real.
If your company is doing millions in revenue,
but you are taking zero salary,
living off ramen,
and completely stressing about your personal mortgage,
you are building an empire on top of a collapsing foundation.
Let's break down the founder's guide to compensation.
First, realize that reinvesting every single dollar
back into the business forever is not a strategy.
It is a lack of financial structure.
In the very beginning, yes, you have to sacrifice.
But too many founders reach the three-year mark
and still treat their personal checking account like an afterthought.
That is a massive error.
If the visionary of the company is constantly dealing
with personal financial anxiety,
they will make desperate, short-term business decisions to survive.
Whether you take owner's draws or run a formal payroll,
you have to feed the architect.
If you starve yourself,
you kill your ability to lead with confidence.
Second, you have to separate your corporate treasury from your personal net worth.
People do not achieve true financial freedom by leaving all their equity trapped inside
their LLC.
They achieve it by strategically extracting capital to build outside investments.
So, instead of guessing how much you can take out each month, work with a world-class CPA
to structure your salary and quarterly distributions efficiently.
Make your personal wealth a mandatory operational expense.
Lastly, paying yourself correctly creates immense psychological leverage.
When your personal life is fully funded, stable, and protected,
you can walk into the boardroom and take massive aggressive swings with the company's capital.
Iron-clad tax strategies, structured distributions, and zero financial panic.
Create an untouchable founder.
When you secure your personal baseline,
the business soars.
Bottom line, you did not start a company
just to be its lowest paid employee.
Structure the payroll,
take the distributions,
and build your personal wealth
because when you do,
you will lead stronger than ever.
