Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
All right, so today we're focusing on two pivotal tools
that can accelerate your growth,
both personally and professionally. Mentorship and self-education. From my days in law enforcement
to running several successful businesses, these elements have been crucial in shaping my journey.
Let's start with mentorship. The value of having a mentor cannot be overstated. A mentor is more
than just a guide. They are someone who has walked the path
you're on and faced the challenges you're encountering. They provide insight, advice,
and support that can help you navigate complex situations and make better decisions faster.
If it wasn't for every single one of my mentors that I have hired in the past five years, I wouldn't have
been able to generate over $33 million in the past few years from all my businesses, guys.
And this is facts. I learned from the best. I paid for the best. I actually have invested over
a million dollars in self-education myself, guys. So you got to think about it like that.
So in my early days of transitioning out of law enforcement, I sought out mentors who had successfully made similar
transitions just like me. What I gained was priceless, real world advice tailored to my
unique challenges and the encouragement to push me through when things got tough. A good mentor
doesn't just help you grow. They believe in your potential and push
you to achieve more than you might on your own. Moving on to self-education, guys. So this is in
your own commitment to learning and expanding your horizons. I was never an avid reader growing up.
I didn't believe in self-education. I barely went to college,
guys. I dropped out after I got my associate's degree. I didn't transfer to my four-year,
and I just went straight to work at the age of 21. So in today's world, the resources at our
disposal are vast. Books, online courses, seminars, podcasts, and more offer endless
opportunities for learning. The key is to adopt a mindset of consistent improvement and curiosity.
Look, you have to self-educate yourself if you want to level up.
There's no way around it.
I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about my new fields of interest,
whether it was marketing strategies, management techniques,
or learning about digital technologies.
Each piece of knowledge added a layer to my foundation, making me more competent and confident in my entrepreneurial ventures.
Look, the beauty of self-education is that it's driven by your personal interests and needs. It
allows you to tailor your learning journey, focusing intensely on areas that are more
relevant or challenging to you. This is where the fulfillment comes in, guys. Look, before when I was like 18,
I got into the whole nightclub industry. The reason why I didn't continue on to that,
and I did that for like quite a few years, almost six years, is because I didn't have
any fulfillment. I got bored with it and I was like, you know what? It's time to change what
I'm doing. This is why I stuck with corporate America, stuck with sales.
I like building the company.
And then I got into law enforcement because it had to do a lot with teamwork and actually helping the community.
So I found a lot of fulfillment in that.
So this personalized approach, guys, accelerates your growth and makes the learning process engaging and directly applicable to your goals. Now, you combining your mentorship with self
education creates a powerful synergy. While your mentors provide personalized guidance and feedback,
self education allows you to deepen your knowledge and bring value to mentorship relationships.
It's a dynamic process where both elements feed into each other, enhancing your
growth and development. So look, if you're looking to start on this path, you need to identify the
leaders in your field or niche or industry who you respect and reach out to them. Be proactive
in seeking mentorship. Look, you have to identify the areas where you want to grow and find resources
to help you set specific goals for what you want to grow and find resources to help you.
Set specific goals for what you want to achieve through both mentorship and self-education.
Remember, the journey of personal and professional growth is ongoing.
The landscape change, the challenges evolve.
But with a solid foundation built on guidance of mentors and a commitment to continual learning, you'll be well-equipped to adapt and succeed.
So I encourage you to seek out to those mentors online,
on social media, on LinkedIn,
whatever you gotta do, just reach out to them.
Dedicate yourself to lifelong learning.
Be a student of the game and in life.
These are the tools to unlock the world of potential for you and your family and your why.
Keep pushing, keep growing, and never stop learning.
Let's continue to level up. I'll catch you on the next one. Remember, I always have your six.
