Welcome to the Level Up Podcast.
I'm your host, Paul Alex.
I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur
that helps average people like you and me
make money every single day.
I created this podcast to help you get motivated
and to crush your goals.
Let's win together.
Remember, I have your six.
Get ready to level up right now.
In today's episode, we're going to discuss
the importance of sharing your background story to
build trust in sales. This is a powerful tool that can transform your approach and results.
So let's get into it. When I first transitioned from law enforcement to entrepreneurship,
I quickly learned that trust is the cornerstone of any successful sales relationship. But how do you build trust with someone who just
met you? The answer lies in your story. Sharing your background story isn't just about recounting
your past. It's about connecting the people on a deeper level. It's about showing them who you are,
where you come from, and why you do what you do. When people understand your journey,
they see you as a real person with genuine motivations, not just someone trying to sell
them something. So let me share an example from my own experience. As many of you guys know,
I started my career in law enforcement. I was a cop who worked long hours, faced numerous
challenges, and dealt with unpredictable situations daily. When I decided to switch paths and dive into entrepreneurship,
I had to build trust from scratch in a new industry. Sharing my story was my gateway to
establishing trust with millions of people. When I told potential clients about my background,
they saw my dedication and work ethic. They understood that my experience as a cop taught
me resilience, quick decision making, and the importance of integrity. Treats that are crucial
in business as well. So this connection made them feel more comfortable and confident in working
with me. So sharing your story also helps you be relatable to people. In sales, people often view the salesperson as just
another person trying to close a deal. But when you share your personal story, you break down
those barriers. You become relatable. People start to see you as someone who has faced challenges,
learned valuable lessons, and is genuinely interested in helping them solve their problems.
Another key aspect is being authentic. In today's world, consumers are more discerning than ever.
They can spot someone who's fake from a mile away. Being open and honest about your story,
you can show how authentic you are. By showing that you're authentic, it actually builds
trust. People appreciate honesty and are more likely to engage with someone who is transparent
about their journey. Additionally, you guys, sharing your story can inspire others. Many people
have dreams just like you and I and aspirations but feel stuck due to their current circumstances.
When they hear your story, how you overcome obstacles and achieve success, it can motivate
them to take action in their own lives. This inspiration creates a bond and a sense of loyalty
that is incredibly valuable in sales. Now, you might wonder how to effectively share your story. It's actually
pretty simple. And remember, guys, simplicity equals success. So just be genuine. Speak from
the heart. Focus on key moments that shaped your journey and relate to them to the values and
benefits that you bring to your clients. Don't just focus on the successes. Share the struggles
and the lessons learned. Being vulnerable like this
is what makes your story compelling and trustworthy, okay? For instance, when I talk about my transition
from law enforcement to entrepreneurship, I don't just highlight the successes. I share the fears,
the uncertainties, and the hard work that went into making that leap. This honesty resonates
with people
because they see that you've walked a challenging path
and come out the other side,
not only stronger, but wiser, okay?
So remember, sharing your background story
is a powerful tool in sales.
It builds trust.
It makes you relatable.
It showcases that you are authentic and inspires others. Don't be afraid to open up
and let people see the real you. Your story is unique and it has the potential to create strong,
lasting connections with your clients. If you found value in today's episode,
