When I first started negotiating deals in merchant services, I learned quickly that if I

wasn't clear on the value I was bringing, I couldn't close. So you got to do your homework. You got to understand what you're bringing to the table and you got to stand firm. Second, listen more than you talk, guys. Negotiation isn't about bulldozing the other person. It's actually about understanding their needs and aligning them with yours. Pay attention. Negotiating like a pro isn't about the tricks or tactics, guys. It's about knowing your value, listening carefully and having the courage to walk away when necessary.
