Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now. Okay, my story, my sound, cliche, guys. I began my career deeply invested in law enforcement, serving as a detective in the city of Oakland, dedicated to making a difference in the community. I'm not gonna lie, the work, it was intense. It was demanding and often I was drained. It was during these years that I discovered the profound impact that a positive mindset
Starting point is 00:00:43 could have. I feel like my positive mindset could have. I feel like my positive mindset was the only thing keeping me alive. Embracing positivity wasn't about ignoring the harsh realities of my job. Instead, it was about focusing on what could be done, finding the best in people, and believing in change and personal impact. This mindset started reshaping my approach to challenges, turning them into opportunities. When I saw that I could become a detective, when I saw that I could be a sergeant, when I saw there was an opportunity for me to be a lieutenant or a captain or possibly the chief of police,
Starting point is 00:01:17 I had a positive mindset from the day that I graduated police academy that I was going to pull up the ranks as fast and be the best in my department. The how did this mindset shift helped me transition to become an entrepreneur and my own boss. It actually began with the vision that I could create more, be more and impact the world differently. Positivity taught me to see potential where others saw barriers. If you're in your 20s, or in your teens, or even in your 30s, or at any stage where you're contemplating a major life change, here's my first piece of advice. You have to cultivate a positive outlook.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Start by affirming your capabilities daily. Focus on your successes however small and visualize where you want to go. Let's talk about practical steps. The first is setting clear achievable goals. When I decided to leave law enforcement, I didn't just jump without a plan. I set specific measured goals about what I want to achieve in the business world. Each goal acted as a stepping stone, building my confidence and affirming my vision. Another crucial element was self-education. I immersed myself in learning about entrepreneurship. Books, podcasts just like this. Seminars, you name it, I've done it.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Embrace learning as a life long journey. The more you know, the better equipped you are to handle challenges and seize opportunities when they come up guys. Now, here is a big needle mover you have to remember. You have to surround yourself with positive people. Positive influences is key to life. Connect with mentors and peers who uplift you.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Their energy can bolster your resolve during tough times and inspire you to reach higher limits. You have to push it to the limit. And remember, positivity is also about resilience. There will be setbacks. It's called life. I faced many problems, many issues. I had to take care of my parents. I had to go to funerals. I had friends die. I've seen people die in front of me that I try to help in the community that I was serving in law enforcement. But through all those tragic events, I had a positive mindset. My positive mindset helped me find lessons and paths forward instead of reasons to give up. To everyone listening, especially those just starting out,
Starting point is 00:04:00 whether you're going to stay in your nine to five, whether you're trying to do a major career change, whether you're trying to jump into another personal relationship, whether you're trying to become an entrepreneur, this is for everybody. You gotta harness the power of positivity. Let it be the fuel that drives you from where you are to where you want to be at. Whether it's transitioning careers, starting a new business, or simply improving your personal life. A positive attitude can and will make the difference. Keep pushing, keep growing, and remember, the only limits you have are the ones you place in yourself. Level up your life, one positive step at a time. Let's go.
