Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Remember, I have your six. Get ready to level up right now. All right, let's talk about what do you do when your family doesn't believe in you. Guys, story time. So let's talk about what do you do when your family doesn't believe in you? Guys, story time. So let's talk about the old American dream to the new American dream. So essentially, guys, take my situation for example. And many of you are probably going to relate to me, okay?
Starting point is 00:00:40 I was making high six figures. I had my house already. I was technically a millionaire on paper, my net worth, right? Real estate, liquid, investments, all that jazz. And this is all before I started all my businesses, okay? Now, the trade-off was that I was working 80 to 100-hour work weeks, okay? I didn't know the true definition of financial freedom. It wasn't until I actually started reading and self-educating myself on business ventures
Starting point is 00:01:18 and one of the books that I always tell everybody to read is The 4-Hour Work Week. Another one that I always tell people to read is the four hour work week. Another one that I always tell people to read is digital millionaire. Um, and then any niche that you're in, just go on Amazon and type in the niche and buy three books. That's it. Buy three books and try to finish them within a month. Okay. This is the fastest way to expedite yourself to whatever you want to do. Anyways, I was living my mother's old American dream where essentially I was, she, she was living through me because she wanted to be a detective, but in Peru, where she's from, um, uh, for a woman back in her day, they wouldn't allow women to be police officers unless you were like a celebrities, you know, a daughter or, or you're a politician's daughter back in Peru. So it was not possible for her at that time. So when I became a law enforcement detective, she was super proud ass off. I was working my ass off for years.
Starting point is 00:02:26 And it came to the point where I eventually got burnt out, guys, flat out, just being very transparent with you. I got burnt out and I was trying to find out how to become financially free. So I figured out a side hustle that I knew I could build residual income, passive income. As you guys know, the majority of people know me online as the ATM guy. But then from ATMs, I was able to transition to digital marketing. And then eventually I was able to build multiple business and then escape the nine to five and all that jazz, right? Well, it got to the point where, you know, while I'm doing all this, the same thing would happen again and again and again. And that was that my family with every new venture, every new idea, every new concept that I brought up to them,
Starting point is 00:03:15 it would almost come off negative to them. And they would say like, why do you want to be different? Why do you always talk about changing? Why do you always want to move? Guys, I've moved probably more than 10 times throughout my entire life. And it's because I've bought so much real estate since the age of 22. And it's not because I came out of money, but it's just because I worked my ass off. That's it. I come from an immigrant family. That's all I know. And people, you have to realize this, people always want you to do good, but not better than
Starting point is 00:03:47 them. And I'm not saying that my family doesn't want me to do better than them, but essentially it's just like, you got to think about it like this. If you're a parent, if you're someone's mentor, and then they start doing better than you, you're going to feel some type of way or human, right? But guys, I have something to tell you, okay? You have to protect your environment and your mindset. Because the number one thing that allowed me to scale extremely fast in entrepreneurship, even in corporate America, even as an award-winning detective, was my energy. My energy was always optimistic. My energy was always positive. I always treated people with respect. I would always give people grace. And I'm telling
Starting point is 00:04:32 you something right now, if you really want to change your life, you really want to change the way people treat you. You really want to change the way people see you as a person, you have to go ahead and show them your vision. You have to be able to communicate with them with clarity. If you're able to give them clarity on your vision and you execute and you stay disciplined, you can accomplish everything. And all the naysayers, they're going to become believers. Hope this helps. Take care. Remember, I always have your six. Make sure to share this episode with your family, friends, and anyone you care about.
