The Life Of Bryony - The Life of You – What Paris Paloma Needs to Protect Herself and Her Creativity
Episode Date: May 15, 2026In our first conversation, Paris Paloma talked about patriarchy, protest songs and mental illness; now I’m asking her a different question: what are the three things she absolutely cannot live witho...ut when the world feels too loud? From the chaos of the music industry to the emotional toll of being permanently online, Paris shares the small, grounding essentials that keep her tethered to herself and her joy. We talk about what really sustains her offstage, how she carves out space to be a human being as well as an artist, and why learning to ask for what you need is not “being a diva” – it is survival.ALBUM DETAILS:Paris’ new album, Fatal Flaw is released on 4th September 2026.WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOUGot something to share? Hello, gorgeous ones, and welcome to the bonus edition of The Life of Briny.
Today, Paris Paloma is sharing the things that keep her truly attuned to herself,
what she holds close to her when life work and the emotional weight of the world start to feel like too much.
The third thing is being really vocal about your needs, that your inner voice thinks you're a bitch.
Thinks you're a diva.
I'm like, I'm such a bitch because I've requested a conversation about work-life balance.
My chat with Paris coming up right after this.
Paris Paloma, welcome to the life of you.
Thank you.
We're going to talk about the three things that are essential to your well-being in a crazy world.
And I feel like the music industry and I am going to sound like my grandmother now is a pretty crazy world.
So what is the first thing that is crucial to your staying sane?
Female friendships.
Oh, it's a good one.
Yeah.
Desperately.
important. Yeah, I love my female friends so much. And there was a period in my life where, like,
I found it quite difficult to feel, like, secure and confident in, like, friends at all.
But you just, I'm now quite militant about putting the effort in. And I just, I'm very, like,
open book and just, I love my girls so much. Do you have girls' nights? You mentioned girls' night.
very recently. I baked a camembert inside a bread. I love that that is what your girl,
because when I was young, my girl's nights were like wine and cocaine. Mine is really tame.
I had like schlur and a camembert. I'm not drinking that moment. But like normally it would be
wine or like going to some local like lovely like cafe bar. But yeah, and I also, I was throwing out
some of my old clothes that I bought when I was like 20 and doing like live.
shows and I'd put them all in a box and just like ask my girls to go through it because then at least
if they took bits from it, it would, I would know it was in a good home. And my friend, Francis
Mystery, who's a wonderful artist, took a lot of my old clothes. So, can I be your friend? Yeah. Can I be like
your old friend? I'll come around. I don't, I won't take any of your clothes because I don't think
they'll fit me. But I would love to eat your camembert. Yeah, it was really, it was good. I put
honey and chili flakes on it. It was nice. Oh my gosh. This is a good time. This is
making me, I mean, it's kind of lunchtime and I'm like, okay. So number one is female friendships.
Is number two cheese? Do you know what? Like no, I's, no, I don't know. If it was a food,
I'd have to think for so much longer. Okay. We don't have to. Well, that's not.
Some manner of biscuit, it would be. But like number two is actually like drawing and painting.
I do it like a ton and I get really sad when I don't. I find it's actually,
it helps me like just observe the world instead of needing to like
just like be producing stuff all the time do you know what I mean
drawing just helps me like look at things and does it relaxes you
it really relaxes me like I've been very I was I was quite burnt out like last week
and very busy and I spent the whole weekend just painting really yeah so that's what
you've just done yeah and what's and how does that look do you have like a like a canvas
I had a canvas, I have an easel, I have my, like, acrylics.
Although I need to get some oils, but that's just really messy.
But as in it's, I just rotate.
I just use whatever I want to use.
I do a lot of, like, chalk pastels and, like, a lot of,
I have, like, this nice ink pen and do lots of, like, ink drawings and stuff like that.
It just, it really soothes me.
I think it, like, since I was a kid, that's what I've done as, like, my pastime,
my emotional outlet, my, like, my mum used to just let me, like, draw at the table or read at the
table, like, yeah. So it's very, like, self-soothing and, like, calls back to my childhood, like,
through now, yeah.
That's so nice. What did you draw yesterday?
I was doing a self-portrait yesterday.
Oh, wow.
Because I was feeling pretty, like, I was feeling, not to bear my soul, but I was feeling pretty,
pretty like exhausted and I was kind of like
I'm it's it's hard sometimes when you don't feel like very public facing on like a
Sunday like sort of just having your anonymous little private life and I was like
I want to just paint myself how I see myself now do I mean and not how I'm like
facing the world how you're seen on social media sure yeah so it was nice it was like a nice
exercise and sort of like just um just like being with myself yeah
What is number three?
Number three, I...
Yeah, honestly, actually good food.
We're going to come back to the food.
Like, I enjoy, like...
I've started to enjoy cooking a bit more.
I used to really not enjoy it.
But I try now to, like, if I can, like...
Oh, I like baking, making something that, like, really helps my mental health.
I kind of like...
I don't want to give the impression that I'm, like, a really productive person
because I don't have the time to do all this all the time.
So maybe actually food is like a subsection of it.
But like the third thing is being really vocal about your needs.
And like to the degree where like if you are a people pleaser,
not like I call myself a people please.
I think I worry that what people think.
But like you need to be so vocal about your needs that like your inner voice thinks you're a bitch.
Like and.
Thinks you're a diva.
I'm like, I'm such a bitch because I've really.
requested a conversation about like work-life balance.
In my villain era.
What a, what a, yeah, what a, God, you're Mariah Carey.
I know it's so hard though.
But like I have a brilliant team like and they're so receptive to it, which is great.
But I, yeah, you just, you've got to be, you've got to talk and have an open conversation
all the time with the people you're working closely with about your needs, like, and about,
just your feelings, man.
Like, it's a lot to be going through all the time.
And it's a very strange job.
Yeah.
I love that.
I think that applies to any job, to be honest.
Yeah, totally.
Exactly.
I just think like...
Put your needs ahead of everyone else.
Yes.
That's the be all and end all of this chat.
Thank you, Paris.
You are number one.
You are a...
I can't wait to see you be more of a diva.
Thanks. I'm trying so hard. My tool manager is trying really hard with me.
Like he's, he, he gets really annoyed if I, like, don't take him up on, like, things that he offers.
Like, because he's worked with, like, a lot of quite big artists.
And I think I'm quite, I'm quite small.
I love you, Griff, by the way, if you're listening.
But, like, he's great at his job.
And he is just trying to encourage me to be, like, more of a diva, like, like, what he's used to.
I'll get there.
You keep going.
I'm trying really hard.
I love to see it and I will love to see it.
Paris Paloma.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
I'm so glad we got you before you sold out.
78 nights at Wembley Stadium.
Yeah, that's next week.
Thanks, Paris.
Thank you so much.
