Starting point is 00:00:01 Hello, friends, and welcome back to the Healthyer Together podcast. I'm your host, Liz Moody, and I am a cookbook author and long-time journalist. And today is one of my all-time favorite traditions. It is my annual holiday gift guide episode. It's honestly, it's like a gift guide, but it's also sort of just like my favorite products of the entire year. So I kind of, I start a list in January on my phone of everything that I try out. And I'm like, this is phenomenal. This is amazing. This would be great as a gift, as a self-gift. And then in December, where we are now, I give you that list and I tell you why I love everything. So this has been compiled over the course of an entire year and it is really good stuff. Like it's stuff you would actually want to receive. I feel like I did gift guides a lot when I worked in editorial. And there's a lot of pressure to kind of just put the same stuff. Like men want slippers and ties and barbecue stuff. And women want, you know, like a soft robe and some flowers.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And that's also one of the reasons why I don't like to do gendered gift guides. I had a long conversation about this with Zach when we first started dating. And he was lamenting that nobody ever got him flowers because people don't think that men want flowers. And I do think a lot of the notions of what a man wants and a woman wants come out in weird ways in gift guides. Like we're like, oh, men are just always watching the game and hanging out at the barbecue with their fancy wood chips that you guys. got them in their stocking last minute, and they're probably never going to use, but, you know, their kitchen cabinet will smell like hickory for a little bit. And I know a lot of women who like to barbecue, and I know a lot of women who like to watch the game. So I, whatever, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:01:48 the game. I'm so out of the sports loop that I'm just like, the game, whatever game that might be. I decided to organize my gift guide this year by the categories of my deck. You may have heard about my deck, the healthier together conversation starter deck. I am so excited about this. This is my very first self-funded physical product. I do have my cookbooks, but I've talked about this a little bit on social media. The process is really, really different when you write a cookbook. You have a publishing house, and they pay you in advance, and they print all the books,
Starting point is 00:02:22 and they have all the designers, and you're part of the process. Like I worked my butt off to develop all of those recipes and the concepts and all of that. But this deck is a totally different ballgame. Like it was us trying out. I say us because Zach was so, so incredibly involved and incredibly important in this process. But it was us trying out different manufacturers and learning about fulfillment centers, which I had no idea about, and just kind of like building the website, designing everything with our designer. I've actually thought about doing an entire episode on the.
Starting point is 00:02:54 process of creating and releasing a product. So if you would be interested in that, definitely let me know. It blew my mind. And it's also interesting because nothing is really that hard, but I feel like it's gate kept a little bit. Like nobody is out there saying, these are the steps that you need to do. And I thought that was kind of interesting. Anyway, my deck, I have been so excited and proud and happy to release it into the world. And the response has been phenomenal. We sold out in like a week, the first round, which blew my mind. We actually ordered twice as many as we thought we were just kind of last minute. We were sitting in the computer and we're like, let's double the shipment size.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Like, who knows? Maybe it'll be great. And then we sold that out in basically a week, which was insane. We are now back in stock. So if you were interested in never having a boring conversation again, go to htdeck.com for $25. You can snag one of these little conversation card decks. They're the perfect stocking stuffer.
Starting point is 00:03:53 They're the perfect white elephant gift. They're perfect for office parties, for family members. You honestly, it's great because it's so many hours of conversation. Most people are like, I did it for two hours the other night with my partner and we got through seven cards. And it's great for your partner, for loved ones, for family members. A lot of people use it over Thanksgiving to get to know parents and grandparents and nieces and nephews in different ways.
Starting point is 00:04:20 So it's really a wonderful way to. move past, I don't know, I just feel like we often have the same types of conversations over and over and they're not really bringing us closer together. They're not making us more connected. So these cards are about really skipping past the boring conversation, skipping past the surface level and getting to know each other on a deep level. That said, some of the categories are just fun. Like the what if and the adventure category are just sheerly playful questions that will make you laugh. And there's ones. This is one of my favorite conversation categories that we've kind of invented for this deck, which I call the signature interactive card. So basically,
Starting point is 00:05:02 you'll be answering questions about yourself. But some of the questions are you answering questions for other people or about other people that you're playing with? So they're asking you to sort of make assumptions, but in a really fun way. Like I think one of them is plan a dream vacation for another player that you're playing with right now. Money is no option. object. There's some that are like give compliments to people, give a compliment about what somebody brings to friendship, which I really like. I love these opportunities to, I don't know, share these bits that people might not see in themselves. I think that's something really beautiful and really magical. Anyway, the deck is divided into category. So we have adventure. We have well-being.
Starting point is 00:05:46 We have what if. We have love. We have wealth. We have, what do we have? We have? We have growing up. So I have decided to theme my gift guide around these different categories. So I'll be sharing my favorite gifts slash things that I have just absolutely adored over the past year in these different categories. And again, if you want to check out the deck, it is at htdeck.com. We just restocked. I cannot make any promises about how long these will last because again, the response has just so surpassed what I ever dreamed it would be. So I would get yours sooner rather than later if you're interested in gift giving them or just. just getting one for yourself or when you go home for the holidays or go to holiday parties or
Starting point is 00:06:25 anything like that. So that's at htdeck.com. All right, let's get into the gifts, the products. These are all very vetted. I am very particular about the things that I like. And I am not one for Chatskis. Like I do not like gifts where you're just like, oh, this is most, I would say most things that you would find in a gift store. I don't like. I think they're a waste of space. I think they're, I hate that feeling when you're like stressed around the holidays and you're just rushing to get people things within the gift category, but they're not things they really want. They're not things you really want to give. And then the people have them for like a month or two.
Starting point is 00:07:05 And then they end up in landfill and it just feels crappy all around. I hate that type of present. I like presents that people would either give themselves if they knew that it existed or that they wouldn't even dream to give themselves, like that they wouldn't almost treat themselves with that level of care or that you can kind of surprise and delight them. So either step that they're like, I have wanted and would benefit from a beautiful, beautiful robe. And you found that for me. And that's wonderful. And this is going to be a wonderful thing I can have in my life and think of you when I wear it. Or something that they wouldn't have even dreamed of like my first one.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I don't know if you guys wouldn't have dreamed of this one, but I thought it was a very dreamy present, which is a dandelion chocolate tasting. So dandelion chocolate is hands down my favorite chocolate on the planet. I am obsessed with it. I have tasted much chocolate in my years on this planet Earth. I have made a point to have pretty much any low to high end chocolate bar on the planet. I actually grew up like 30 minutes from one of the Hershey. There's two Hershey factories.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Well, I think this one actually closed. But in California, there was a Hershey factory. I grew up like 30 minutes from it. The wind would blow some days to my house and it would smell like chocolate and it was heavenly. So I've tried all the chocolate. Dandelion is the best. You know how chocolate will sometimes say like tasty notes on it? Kind of like wine does what will be like, you might notice a hint of golden caramel and some peppery notes.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Normally you're like, yeah, okay, that's cool. I got that. Dandelion, you taste it. it. Like, genuinely, if it's like red raspberry and cream on the package, you taste it. And that is not because they added red raspberry and cream. They are all single origin, just cacao bean chocolate bars. It's just cacao bean and some percentage of sugar. That's it. And they're all from one specific destination. But something about the way they are processing the cacao, something about maybe sourcing from the single destination. So any of those.
Starting point is 00:09:15 location-based aromatics are really infusing in the bar, but you taste it. And that's why I think this present is so cool. So you get sent these bars in the mail. And then you sign up for, you get a link to sign up for a tasting session. So it's an online Zoom thing where a chocolatier, a chocolate master will walk you through and you'll taste the different notes and talk about the process. And I think it'd be really fun because you get a little bit of something now. You also don't need the entire bar for the tasting experience.
Starting point is 00:09:42 They actually say this online. So you can taste a little bit of it on the day. of the gifting, and then you can have this whole experience later, which I think is the best of both worlds. Sometimes experiential gifts, I love them so much. It's my favorite type of present, but they can feel a little anticlimactic on the day of the giving because you're just like, oh, well, like everybody else has something fun and new and tangible now, and I have to wait for my tangible thing. So this is a little bit best of both worlds. The next one is a creosote shower hanging a creosote shower bush. So if you remember back when I was in Tucson in February, I found
Starting point is 00:10:21 this small business. They make all desert inspired candles and scents and everything's all natural. And this was, I was at the time, I was really obsessed with hanging eucalyptus in my shower. And then I discovered this. And this is so much better than eucalyptus. First of all, it's not toxic to pets and eucalyptus can be. And obviously, the dose they're getting from shower steam is not the same as like them eating it, but it's definitely something to be aware of. Criosote is not. It also has a bunch of therapeutic properties.
Starting point is 00:10:52 So when you're breathing in all of that shower seam, you're getting all of the benefits of the Criacote or the chaperil. It's called both. And that's notable because if you just Google Creeosote, I think there's something else that is Creeoc that's an entirely different thing. And it's actually quite toxic, but this is chaperl or Criot. and it's very good for you. And it smells.
Starting point is 00:11:14 It smells like the desert after the rain, which is the best smell on the planet. And if you haven't smelled it yet, you just need to go and order this. It is a small business. It is a beautiful present to just elevate everyday life to make the little moments that we all have every single day, like taking a shower, feel a little bit more magical. Oh my gosh. Also, I forgot to mention I'm going to have links for all of these on Liz Moody.com. There will be a corresponding blog post.
Starting point is 00:11:43 You can just listen to me, talk about everything and why I love it and kind of get that in-depth explanation here. But then on Liz Moody.com, I'll have all of the links to everything. I'll have any discount codes if I have anything like that. So you can just sit back, relax, enjoy, hang out with me right now. And then you can get all the information over on Liz Moody.com if you are interested in purchasing anything. All right. Next, Frankie and Joe's.
Starting point is 00:12:10 It is the best plant-based ice cream on the planet. Like, I just say that definitively it is. I've tried them all. I'm very picky about my plant-based ice cream. First of all, their flavors are incredible. They have one that's, like, called California Cabin, and it has notes. God, I don't even know. It's like mesquite and cedar, and it's like smoky and woodsy, but still really sweet and beautiful.
Starting point is 00:12:33 And they just, they have really beautiful flavors and a beautifully creamy texture that you just don't get in plant-based ice cream. So you can get a box where you select different flavors. And I just think it would be a really fun gift. The packaging is really cute too. So highly recommend. Okay, this next one I'm very excited about. I've decided, I decided maybe like five months ago that I really wanted a Pendleton blanket. I thought it'd be so cute to like have in the back of my car and I could do beach picnics or we were spending a lot of time in Glacier National Park in Montana over the summer. And we would always end up lakeside, just kind of like sitting in the rocks as one of us. would take our paddleboard out. And I was like, it'd be so cute if we had a Pendleton blanket and we
Starting point is 00:13:14 look so naturey because they have these really cool sort of nature inspired patterns on them. And then we went to buy one. Zach's mom was actually going to give it to us as a present. And they're wool. So you can't wash them. And I was like, what is the point of having this blanket that you're taking out in nature if you have to dry clean it? I could not do it. I don't do dry clean anything. I'm actually notorious for taking clothes that say, try cleat only, and being like, this will be okay in the washer, right? Like, no, no problem here. And like, honestly, it's usually fine.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I've ruined a few things, but usually it works out okay. Anyway, I was so sad. Cross the Pendleton Blanket off my dream list. And then I found at this little boutique in Berkeley, of all places, a Pendleton towel. So these have the same really beautiful nature-inspired designs, National Park-desired or inspired designs as the blankets do. But they're towels and they're huge. They're like twice as big as a normal beach towel. So you can in effect use it in the exact same way I was planning to use the blankets. You can wrap it around yourself when you're cold. You can keep it in the
Starting point is 00:14:29 back of your truck. You can use it for picnics. And it's actually way more resilient and durable. because it's a towel. And the best part is, unlike Pendleton blankets, which are like, I don't know, $250. These are $49. And maybe that's a lot for just a towel, but for these, it's literally a blanket. It's a blanket masquerading as a towel. They're so beautiful. And I just think they would make the most unique and lovely gift for any nature lover. So this is the adventure category. And in the deck, we define adventure as adventure for all of your senses. So it's travel and it's a lot of interesting questions about travel, but it's also adventure for your sense of taste, for your sense of smell, for everything you touch. It's really adventure for every part of your physical and
Starting point is 00:15:18 mental being. You're listening to the Healthier Together podcast. Clearly, this whole episode is all about finding the perfect gift for the people you love this holiday season. And one of my favorite things to gift is thoughtful home items. Giving someone a plant or a candle will provide hours of joy, peace, and cozy vibes. You're basically gifting someone the ability to love their space a little bit more, which is a magical gift indeed. If you're looking for the perfect place to get unique, thoughtful gifts this holiday season, I highly recommend Modern Sprout, one of this week's partners. Modern Sprout is a small Chicago-based company that basically makes it super easy for you to bring more plants into your life.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Oprah selected their products twice for her favorite things list, and they've been featured on the Today Show and in Food and Wine, Real Simple, architectural digest, and more. They basically make it super easy for even people who completely lack green thumbs to grow their own herbs or decorative plants with their hydroponic systems, which basically make it so you can forget to water your plant or overwater them and they won't die. Seriously, they look chic and cute like normal planters,
Starting point is 00:16:27 but they make the plants unkillable. It is genius. The packaging is also gorgeous, like literally pretty enough that you can get away without wrapping it. Or if you're me, it'll make up for your wrapping because, as Zach says,
Starting point is 00:16:42 I wrap things like a kitten that got stuck in a ribbon pile. If you're looking for a perfect stocking stuffer, I highly recommend their bright side seed balls, the cutest little truffles for planting a bit of joy anywhere. They also have eco-friendly, molded pulp ornaments with seeds inside that transform into grow kits so that you can grow pointetas, spruce trees, peppermint cosmos, and eucalyptus plants. The tiny terracotta's are also
Starting point is 00:17:08 too cute, not to mention. These adorable little pots are the perfect gift for any plant, newbie, or limited space plant lover in your life. If you want to try modern sprout for yourself, you can use my code Liz 21 for 15% off your order on modsprout.com. Again, that's Liz 21, the number two, the number one, for 15% off your order on modsprout.com. I can't wait for you to gift your loved ones, the gift of plants. Now, let's get back to the episode. So that's why in this part of the gift guide, we're also getting into food and wine and things like that. So one of my favorite wine discoveries of this year is the nomadica wines.
Starting point is 00:17:53 They're basically canned wines. and the reason that they do this is because they have 80% less of an eco footprint by having canned wine versus bottled wine. I didn't even think about the eco footprint of a bottle of wine, honestly, until it was brought to my attention. And then I was like, oh my gosh. And also I love that because they're canned, you can open up like a glass or two essentially at a time. And then beyond that, they're all dry farmed. They're sustainably farmed and sustainably grown. And they are dry wine.
Starting point is 00:18:23 So they're all zero sugar wines. They haven't done any process to move the sugar from the wine, but they've essentially made wines in a very dry style where you're fermenting out all of the sugar. So the result is a zero sugar wine, which is also very cool. They're really delicious. I've tried them all. And I think it'd be they're also beautiful. The packaging is absolutely stunning.
Starting point is 00:18:47 It's the most, I don't know, like it would belong in a beautiful boutique. I've never seen wine styled and branded like this. They have something called an adventure pack. It has a number of their different bottle can designs and a number of their different flavors. And I just think it would be a really fun gift for either somebody getting into wine, but also they're really good. I love wine. I'm, I wouldn't say I'm a wine snob, but I've tasted a lot of wine. I love, you know, anything gastronomically inclined.
Starting point is 00:19:16 So I've gotten to enjoy a lot of really good wines over the years. And these held up to my standards 100%. I love them. So highly recommend the Nomadica Wine Adventure Pack. The next food present is from one of my favorite sites is Goldbelly. If you haven't heard of Goldbelly, it's so cool. I feel like they blew up a little bit during the pandemic. But it lets you order food from regional specific restaurants that might not otherwise deliver.
Starting point is 00:19:48 So for instance, one of my friends sent me, Donut plant donuts from New York City. Donut plant donuts are the best donuts in the world. They transcend donuts. I could talk about donut plant donuts for the rest of this episode. I love them so much. But one of my friends sent me those for my birthday. I was in Montana and they got delivered via Goldbelly. So they take these kind of littler restaurants that wouldn't otherwise be able to deliver their things and deal with the operations behind all of that. And they make them available to you all over the country. They help them ship them in ways that really preserve the product. And this is fun. This is a local Napa bakery. It's called Model Bakery and their English
Starting point is 00:20:30 muffins are truly phenomenal. They're out of this world. They're super famous. If you try to go to the bakery in Napa, honestly, unless you get there within the first hour of opening, they're sold out anyways. So this is a better way to get your hand on these English muffins. And I just think there's something really fun. You should peruse the site in general because I also think a fun present could be to, you know, if you have a special place memory with somebody, if you went to New Orleans with them, maybe you can find them a biniere or something that ships. If you, if they have a special memory from a place and they always talk about this like key lime pie that they had in Florida, maybe you can find that on gold belly. And I think that's really special. Anything that has that
Starting point is 00:21:09 little bit of thought in it present wise, I think is extra magical. But if you just want to be one and done, these English muffins are so nice. And again, it's just a really nice way to elevate every day. I think often around the holidays were like cookies and candy and chocolate and all of that is so wonderful. But something about like a simple English muffin, I think is really, really beautiful. Kind of on the other end of the spectrum is something to add a lot of pizzazz and flavor and wow to anybody's everyday cooking is the New York Shook Middle Eastern Spice Collection. One of the all-time best cooking tips that I ever got was from Anna Jones. It was on a very early episode of this podcast. She is a wonderful British chef, makes really beautiful food.
Starting point is 00:22:00 And she said that she recommends that if anybody wants to kind of be able to make their food taste amazing and not have to put a lot of effort into it because, you know, I'm always asking for those sneaky hacks and shortcuts to keep a few really good spice blends in their cooking collection. I think sometimes people who feel, I think sometimes both unsophisticated cooks or unexperienced cooks feel like they can't touch spice blends because they don't know how to use them or where or how or why. And then sometimes I think on the other end of the spectrum, people who feel like they have more experience in the kitchen don't go for spice blends either because they're like, well, why would I rely on that as a crutch? I know how to put flavors
Starting point is 00:22:39 together, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But actually, they're really wonderful on both ends. They allow you to kind of experience different flavor combinations that you would otherwise not experience if you're maybe on the more practice chef's side. But then if you're a newbie, you can use it on pretty much anything and make it taste good. You've had this like super powerful flavor enhancer tool at your fingertips at all time. So I love to keep a few good spice blends around. I use them to roast chickpeas. I use them. I use them. to roast vegetables, basically anything you're roasting, like Farish Out. I also love to use them in pasta sauces. I'll use them to kind of enhance and add a special something to a simple marinera,
Starting point is 00:23:20 a jar of marinera sauce that I would get at the store. So good. Also, same thing with salad dressings. If you just kind of make a quick, you know, vinaigrette, you stir in some spice blends, and it suddenly takes the whole thing to another level. So this is their Middle Eastern spice collection. It has Zatar. It has Horissa. It has just, really interesting spice flavors to play around with that you might not have had before or maybe you have, but these are some of the best examples of them that I have ever had. I always keep New York Shook products. All of them are amazing. I always keep them stocked in my kitchen. And I think this is a really good place to begin with them. Also on the culinary adventures, culinary travel side,
Starting point is 00:24:00 a beautiful, beautiful book from one of my great friends in the cooking culinary world. Her name is Mariana Velasquez. She was actually the food stylist for both of my cookbooks. She is a brilliant artist in the kitchen. And she came out with her own book this year. It is called Columbiana. It is one of the most beautiful books you will ever see. It's absolutely one of those cookbooks that doubles as a coffee table book for the most elegant and chic people you know. But also, it's accessible. It makes cooking Colombian food. So that's what it is. It walks you through everything you ever wanted to know about Colombian food. And it's so much more than what we might think from a surface level. Like, I think we maybe have, I don't even know if people have a
Starting point is 00:24:47 conception of what Colombian food is, you know, but she takes you so far beyond that. She talks about the different regions and how they're cooking differently. And then she teaches you how to bring those flavors into your life and into your table. And she also talks about different ways they're entertaining. Mariana is truly the chicest woman on the planet. She dresses phenomenally. She just lives her life phenomenally. She's very much one of those like, I'll have what she's having people. And this is a way to snag a little piece of that to kind of be effortlessly chic, to explore as if it's second nature to you, and to really delight in a new type of cuisine that I think a lot of us have not had as much exposure to as we have other types of cuisine. So the cookbook is called
Starting point is 00:25:29 Columbiana. It is a work of art, and I highly recommend it. The other cookbook, that I was really floored by this year. It's a little bit on the different side. It's called Dada Eat. So I'd say that Marianas is really beautiful for sort of like adventure cooking. And when you want to on Sunday tackle a project with a person that you love or dive into a type of cooking that you maybe haven't done before. And then I think Dada eats by my friend Samadada,
Starting point is 00:25:57 who has also been a guest on this podcast, is really good for weeknight cooking. And it's one of the best weeknight cooking cookbooks that I have ever seen. It is Indian-ish food. Like I would say that she does, she takes Indian food, which her background is, her family is from India. But she also grew up in London and she lived in New York and she lived in California and she fuses all of those modalities together into a style that is very much her own. It is vegetarian. And all of the recipes, they have a very short ingredient list. And sometimes people think that that's like a negative thing.
Starting point is 00:26:32 But it was actually the number one compliment I got for healthier together. when I first released it, people were like, I can't believe how short this ingredient list is. It's amazing because you only have to shop for a few things and you're learning how to put those things together in a way that's really unique and delicious and inspiring. And so Sama's book is very much the same short ingredients, but put together in a way that pack a punch and that are really unexpected and exciting for your palate. It's called Dada Eats and I highly recommend it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Last step in the adventure category is the Bose portable waterproof speaker. So this came about because we were doing our nomad life. We didn't want to bring our whole speaker system that we had back in our New York apartment. But we also wanted really good sound quality, both for when we were in our Airbnbs, but also like we're hanging out in the backyard or I wanted to be able to sing in the shower. That was really important to me. Like maybe too important to me. And so we were researching all these different speakers and we actually tried a few of the lower price options.
Starting point is 00:27:30 and the sound quality was just appalling. It was so marbly and garbled and just like it didn't sound good. And I wanted my music to sound good, but also to be really transportable and cute. So that's when we found the Bose waterproof speaker. It's waterproof. It floats. So if you're doing like a river float and listening to 90 show tunes, as you might be, I don't know, highly recommend it keeps the bears away.
Starting point is 00:27:57 You can, it'll float in the water if you're tossing. between two people, which is amazing. It can get wet. You can keep it in your shower. You can take it with you. It's really tiny. I would say I'm holding my hands, but you can't see my hands. It's like the size of a subway sandwich. It didn't like kind of the shape of a subway sandwich too, if that makes sense. It's really small. You can bring it anywhere you go, but the sound quality is so good. You get that like crystal clear, really robust sound. So we listen to it in our house and we don't feel like we're missing anything from a larger speaker set. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Next up, we have the well-being category. So this was a really fun one for the deck because I feel like other conversation cards that I've seen don't really get into our physical health or our mental health. And those obviously make up such a huge portion of who we are as evidenced by everything that we talk about about on this podcast all of the time. They, you know, our physical and our mental health impact how. we feel when we wake up in the morning, how we feel when we go to bed at night, how we relate to the people that we love, how we relate to ourselves. So I really wanted to create a category that
Starting point is 00:29:04 allowed us to both expose those issues because I feel like they're under discussed, not even just on conversation cards, but how much more should we be talking about the impacts of mental health or chronic illness or how we have a question in there about how our parents' approach to health shaped how we viewed health in our lives. And I just think these things are so important to bring out into the public conversation. But I also think it's really fun for a conversation deck because it really lets you get to know the person that you're playing with in a different type of way than a lot of these decks allow. So the well-being category is probably my most like straightforwardly wellnessy stuff starting with the canopy
Starting point is 00:29:49 humidifier. So I got this humidifier when I was recovering from my surgery. I had my like 75 things that I was using to try to feel like I had control over a situation that I very much did not have control over. But the good news is that my anxiety, I love talking about upsides of anxiety, you know, I feel like we talk a lot about the negatives of anxiety. But my anxiety in this situation led me to some products that really impacted my overall sense of wellness and my life in a really positive way. And I'll get into some of those later in this episode. But first up is the canopy humidifier. It's a wonderful humidifier. It's a wonderful humidifier. The big, big, big innovation here is that they've created a system that basically doesn't allow it to get moldy.
Starting point is 00:30:31 And every other humidifier on the planet, it's great, great, great. And then it gets moldy. And then you're basically putting worse stuff into the air than if you were putting nothing into the air at all. And the canopy humidifier doesn't do that. Other than that, like, they'll probably say it has a bunch of other special stuff and it has like cool little things you can put essential oils on to kind of act as a diffuser too, which I think is really cool. but the huge innovation that literally does not exist in any other humidifier on the planet is that it doesn't get moldy. And that is just so critical because mold is so hugely harmful to our health. We need to probably talk more about mold on this podcast.
Starting point is 00:31:08 I have a theory. It's unsubstantiated. But Zach and I have talked about this a lot that my anxiety and my extreme agoraphobia in London is in part due to mold. So we lived in this old, like it was this house that I, it felt like it was a ship. It's the only way I can describe it. The person who owned it, our landlord was a ship's captain. And when stuff happened, like, one day the roof was leaking and it was a little two-story house.
Starting point is 00:31:32 And it was leaking all the way to the bottom story. So it was leaking from the roof and then also through the first story of the house. And I like put a bucket there. It was literally pouring through like a waterfall. I called him. And he just like climbed up there and like patched up some tar. And then like he just, his approach to everything was like a boat. Like, I'll just, like, climb up there myself and fix it.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And the house itself was just sort of glimsy, for lack of a better world. Like, you could hear everything in the neighboring houses and the walls just felt really thin. And when we were moving out, we had, I think we'd like, oh, Bella had scratched one of the walls. And the wall was, like, foam core almost. Like, it was like the type of foam board you would make a science fair presentation out of. And she had scratched it. And so Zach was going to replace it because he has the hand. person on the planet to have as you are moving out of houses. So he takes all of this like foam
Starting point is 00:32:28 board padding off of the wall in our room and behind it is a hundred percent black mold. Like it's just crawling with black mold. And this is the same flat that I had become literally completely agoraphobic and I'd spent the last, it was like six months at that point, barely able to get out of bed, having panic attacks every single day, just the worst period of my life. And so it was really, and we didn't really think anything of it at the time. I think I was just in such a state and we were eager to get back to the U.S. where I had a support system
Starting point is 00:32:59 and kind of get me moving through this really extreme anxiety that I was feeling at the time. But retrospectively, we started, I was like writing articles about mold and interviewing different doctors who had dealt with mold poisoning and it's interesting the connection.
Starting point is 00:33:16 So definitely something I need to look into more. But the point is you want to avoid mold in your life whenever possible. So starting with your humidifier, which the whole point is like to have something that makes you healthier is a good place to start. So I love it for both. I kind of like during my surgery when I was mouth breathing a lot, if you're mouth breathing a lot at night and you kind of wake up with like a dry mouth or a sore throat, a humidifier is immensely helpful for that. It's also great for skin. Your skin just feels dolier and glowier. And I feel like it's dry in the winter. It's trying the summer too. I spend the summer in the mountains where it's super dry too.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I feel like winter's dry, summer's dry, and this just makes it less dry, and it's lovely. Next up, I have a silk robe. I don't really want to get into my robe saga. I have tried so many robes this year, including incredibly expensive ones. They're all, like, not great. Like, I've tried a lot of the name brand ones, and they get destroyed within, you know, a month or two of having it, or they're just so pricey and you get it. And you're just like, this isn't worth it. why did I spend the money on this? So I haven't yet found a luxury robe that I would feel comfortable
Starting point is 00:34:27 recommending, which is why this robe is fully on the other end of the spectrum. It is a $30 silk, quote unquote, robe from Amazon. It's kimono style. It looks so chic and so beautiful. I just think it's a great present if you're like looking for a present for your sister or your friend and you don't want to spend a ton of money, but you want to give them a little bit of luxurious experience that they don't have to stress about that they can toss in the wash and toss in the dryer. I also think this is a great one just for you if you want to have those swanning about morning moments. I just, I love a good swanning morning, like where you have your tea and your sitting. I wanted to say coffee. I always, I have this like urge in my body for people to view me as a coffee drinker because it feels so
Starting point is 00:35:14 grown up, even though I am not a coffee drinker and I can't tolerate it in any way, shape, or form. But whenever, like, I'll make coffee for Zach and I'll hold the mug and I'll be like, do I look like a coffee drinker to you? Anyways, when you're swanning about in the morning, when the birds are chirping and, you know, doing your hair for you, you can wear this robe and you'll feel really luxurious and put together, but it's only $30. So big fan of that.
Starting point is 00:35:41 And other kind of, like, stocking stuff for you, I feel like the robe is a weird. stocking stuffer. Okay, just in a stocking stuffer, not other stocking stuffer. This blue light reading light. It is a clip-on reading light. It is the most game-changing product of my year. If I had to, like, give an award for the product that has changed my life most, it would be this blue light reading light. It is like, I don't remember, I don't know if you had when you're a kid, like those it bitty-bitty book lights where you clip it onto your book and then it's got like a little bendable head and you could read your book and it doesn't kind of make any light. And it doesn't kind of make any light outside of your book. This is that, but it's 99% blue light free. It has the most
Starting point is 00:36:21 calming, lovely warm tone. It also doesn't radiate any light so I can read and Zach doesn't see any light on his side of the bed, which is so nice because if you use a lamp, even if it's a small lamp, it's sort of radiating light all over the room and that can mess with if you're sleeping with a partner, it can mess with their sleep. It has changed my sleep. I also feel like when I'm reading with the lamp, even if it's a dim lamp, it makes me feel more awake. And reading with this, something about it just being less light. And I think getting rid of literally all trace of blue light, it is so calming. It makes me feel tired. It has enhanced my sleep so much. And it's made reading such a pleasurable experience. So you can read outside at night. You can read in bed at night.
Starting point is 00:37:08 You can just kind of pop. And it's great to take with you two hotel rooms for traveling, for on the plain, it's this tiny little thing. You can absolutely keep it in your purse. Game changer for the reader in your life, for yourself. You need to get this. It's $16. I will link to it on Liz Moody.com. Best product of the year award, 100%. Get them for everybody in your life. Just get them a deck in a reading light and call it a day. Um, no, I'm just kidding. I have other stuff to share. This week's podcast is brought to you by Athletic Greens, one of my favorite supplements. I discovered athletic greens, I don't know, maybe five years ago now, and they've been an absolute lifesaver ever since. They make an all-in-one superfood powder that contains 75 vitamins,
Starting point is 00:37:51 minerals, and whole-food-sourced ingredients, including a multivitaminol, probiotic, green superfood blend, and more that all work together to fill the nutritional gaps in your diet, support energy and focus, aid with gut health and digestion, and support a healthy immune system. You all may know that I am addicted to green smoothies, and I basically consider athletic greens to be my replacement green smoothie on any day that I can't make one or just need an extra boost. They're an absolute must when I travel. I honestly can't remember the last time that I took a trip without them and they are the difference between feeling good when I travel and that kind of like icky feeling you just get from not getting in all of your nutrients,
Starting point is 00:38:29 eating a lot of fried food, all of that. Also, this is anecdotal, but if I take athletic greens when I travel, I never get constipated. I used to get so constipated when I traveled. Honestly, if you are ever having digestive issues or trouble pooping, drink a big old glass of athletic greens and then, well, you tell me what happens. Beyond that, for my caffeine-free babies out there, this powder is hands-down the best coffee substitute that I have ever had. I know a lot of people think of green powder as a morning thing, but hear me out, try a scoop of athletic greens at around three in the afternoon, right when you're hitting that afternoon slump. You'll get a surge of this amazing, non-jittery,
Starting point is 00:39:10 clean-feeling energy and it's actually real energy because you're fueling your body. As a person who applauds growth and change, I absolutely love the fact that athletic greens continues to obsessively improve this one holistic formula based on the latest research, producing 53, 53 improvements over the last decade and counting. They invest in the most absorbable and natural source of each ingredient and go above and beyond in third-party testing to ensure their customers continue to receive the highest quality and best daily nutritional habits on the planet. It's lifestyle-friendly whether you eat keto, paleo, vegan, dairy-free, or gluten-free, and it contains less than one gram of sugar without
Starting point is 00:39:54 compromising on taste. And can we talk about taste for a second? People always ask me if it actually tastes good, and I genuinely respond, yes, it does. It's faintly sweet, but not in a cloying or artificial way and it's really fresh. It's actually a flavor that I've come to crave, both because it's tasty unto itself and because I've come to associate it with how good I feel after I drink it. I've Pavlovd myself. Whether you're looking for peak performance or better health or need more nutrients in your diet, covering your bases with athletic greens makes investing in your energy, immunity, and gut health, simple, tasty, and efficient. And right now, Athletic Greens has got you for year-round immune support by offering my audience a free one-year supply of vitamin D and five free
Starting point is 00:40:42 travel packs with your first purchase if you use my link today. I love Athletic Greens vitamin D because first of all, many of us are deficient in vitamin D, especially going into these winter months, and second, it's combined with K2, which research has found helps the D transport calcium to your bones where it's needed rather than calcifying in your arteries. I cannot wait to hear how you like it and how good you feel.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Now, let's get back to the episode. All right. Next up, I think this one would be a really wonderful stocking stuffer, presuming that you're stuffing the stockings of grownups, which is the Kyoto Botanicals gummies. You know that I love Kyoto Botanicals. It is my absolute favorite CBD. It's incredibly high quality. It's vertically integrated farms, which is really important. It means that they're controlling their farming and manufacturing process from the beginning to the end. So they know every single thing that's going on and they're able to quality control all of that. And these are a really fun introduction to CBD because they're gummies. The gummies are so delicious. One gummy is a serving. So you just chew one gummy. And that's my hot tip with gummies for CBD gummies,
Starting point is 00:42:10 whether you're doing Kyoto Botanicals or any other brand. Chew it a lot. So you want to absorb a lot of that CBD through your bloodstream via the mucus membranes in your mouth versus having it go through digestive tract, which is going to make it take way longer to absorb. And also, you'll just absorb less of it because so much of it is lost to the process. of digestion in your gut. So chew it a lot and it'll be way more effective and you'll get more bang for your buck. So these gummies are so delicious. This is not sponsored by the way.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Nothing on the gift guide. I feel like this is really important to disclose and sometimes people are a little like opaque about it. But nothing on this gift guide is sponsored in any way, shape or form. Some of the stuff on here you might recognize from previous partnerships because and like Kyoto Botanicals has been a partner of my. mine for literally years because I love them so much, but they did not pay me to put them in this gift guide. They did not ask me to put them in this gift guide. They don't know they're in it right now.
Starting point is 00:43:12 I will probably let them know that I put them in it, but they don't know that they're in it. And I just think it's really important for gift guides to stay. I don't know. I really just wanted this. You know, people can do it differently and maybe next year I will do sponsored parts of my gift guide. But you'll see sponsorships throughout this episode, like a number. normal podcast, but I really wanted everything that was on the gift guide to just be things that I had selected and I was recommending. And I wanted to be clear that they're not sponsored at all. So love Kyoto Botanicals. And I think that the gummies would be a really, really wonderful present for anybody interested in CBD or, you know, if you just have that person in your life
Starting point is 00:43:50 who's a little bit anxious and a little bit stressed and you want to help them out without being like, okay, let's talk about your stress situation because it's ruining everything. everybody's life and not just yours. You know, just give them some CBD gummies. Say, hmm, these look delicious. You look like you might enjoy these. And maybe everybody's life will get better. Okay, next one is actually what I gave my mom for her birthday, which is a December birthday. It is the Splendid Spoon 10 pack of soups. I gave this to my mom last year for her birthday. And Splendid Spoon basically send you frozen soups. They're incredibly high quality. It's a great gift. My mom is a New Yorker.
Starting point is 00:44:31 She does not cook. She would walk to Whole Foods and get pre-prepared soup. And it wasn't very good. It wasn't using great ingredients. Splendid Spoon uses incredible ingredients, just really high quality. And they have really delicious soups. And I just think this would be a really fun gift for somebody who's kind of always running around busy, stressed about what to eat or taking care of themselves in that way.
Starting point is 00:44:55 But wouldn't necessarily think to take this step of doing any sort of prepared. meal service because I think that that can feel a little bit decadent for a lot of people, myself included. Like it took me a while to get to the step of like, sometimes it's okay to just prioritize convenience and pay a little bit more to have a really nourishing, delicious meal ready at hand for when you're too busy. So if you know that person, if you are this person, these soup packs are wonderful. You keep them in your freezer so you can just defrost them whenever you need some suit.
Starting point is 00:45:28 My mom was obsessed. I gave her the 10-pack for her birthday last year, and then she just became a member. You can join their subscriptions, and she's done it every year or every month since her birthday last year. Just a little bit frustrating because now I'm like, what do I get you this year? I could have gotten you more soup,
Starting point is 00:45:44 but now you have all the soup, so I don't know what to get. If anybody has any ideas for what I should get for my mom, let me know. Okay, next step is the Bloom holiday bundle. So Bloom is really fun. I discovered this company. I want to say through an Instagram advertisement, which is crazy. But then I tried their products and they're incredible. They're really high quality organic ingredients.
Starting point is 00:46:06 And they basically have like fun latte blends. Like you know those lattes you would get in a fancy coffee shop and they're blue and they're purple and they're pink and they're green. Or my LM lattes. I haven't done as many of those this year. But last year it's doing like brownie batter and cookie dough and all of these things. Bloom does that, but it's like pre-prepared and you just scoop it. out. And they're really, really good. They have a decaf Earl Grey latte that's heavenly,
Starting point is 00:46:35 and they use a really good, safe process to get the caffeine out of the Earl Grey, which I really appreciate. This is their holiday bundle, which has all of their holiday flavors. It has a mint cocoa blend, a gingerbread blend, and a candy cane loose leaf tea. It has really pretty packaging, and they're just incredibly delicious, super good, highly recommend. Okay, this next one might not really be a gift. It could be a gift. We'll say it's a gift, but it's definitely one of my favorite things that I bought this year. It's the thing that you ask about the most when I wear it on Instagram, which is my Abercrombie sweatshirt. They, Habercrombie started making these really nice sweatshirts. They have a little bit of like a slit at the bottom, which
Starting point is 00:47:16 just makes them hang really nicely on your body. I feel like it looks a little dressier. You can kind of dress it up and dress it down. Charlie Goss, the stylist that I had on my stylist Q&A podcast episode where I was like, please teach us how to look cute. These sweatshirts were one of the things that she found for me. So they are Charlie Goss approved, stylist approved sweatshirts. I think it can be really hard to shop for clothing for people, but sweatshirts feel a little bit easier. They're a little bit more forgiving. I just feel like I would be like you can't buy a pair pants or something for somebody.
Starting point is 00:47:49 But a sweatshirt, yes. So look at the Abercrombie sweatshirts. I'll link the exact one I have, which is the Grateful Dead one, on. on Liz Medi.com with the gift guide. Okay, next step is what if. And the what if category of the deck is a little bit more whimsical. It's hypotheticals. It's, you know, if you could be famous for anything, what would it be?
Starting point is 00:48:10 And does the notion of fame even interests you? Or would you want to be president if you could be president? And it's just kind of exploring fun, different hypothetical situations. I think one of them is like if you could slip into any of your friend's lives and you have to take like every single part of it like which part which friend would you choose and why just fun fun things to explore so for this part of the gift guide I decided to do just my most my most whimsical products so these are strange and fun and I hope you like them because I really like them this is one of my favorite categories
Starting point is 00:48:45 the first thing is the coolest is one of the coolest things I've ever seen it is moss art so it looks like a painting or a living wall. If you've ever seen like a green wall or a living wall, it's a painting made of plants, but something that they do to it process wise, it's like dried or something. So you never need to water it. It always looks intact, but it looks lush and green and beautiful. And this is a little bit of a price of your present. It's like $118.
Starting point is 00:49:15 It's a weird number because it's Canadian company. So you have to translate from Canadian dollars to US dollars. but it's $118 U.S. dollars, which is a little pricey, but it's not as pricey as I would think it would be given how chic and cool these look. Seriously, go to Lismuddy.com, go look at the image of these. They're absolutely stunning. I just think they would make a space look so cool, like one of those really fancy, sophisticated hotels that was decorated by, I don't know, some fancy designer. I'm really showing my, or like that you would see in one of the, the Architectural Digest Home Tours. So if you have a home decor enthusiast, or again, this is one that I'm like,
Starting point is 00:49:58 I want to put this on my list for sure. Moss art. It is so beautiful. The company is called green stems, and it's just, I think it's so unique. I've never seen anything like it. Next is supernatural sprinkles. I think this would be such a good stocking steper. One of my favorite holiday traditions, and it's actually one of the only ones that I've kept intact. My family. situation's been a little all over the place from various holidays. But my sisters and I, every year, we decorate gingerbread cookies and we take it very seriously until the end when you're just kind of glooping frosting on everything. I have a amazing gingerbread cookie recipe that I will be sharing on my Instagram. It is the best gingerbread cookies in the world. It happens to be
Starting point is 00:50:42 gluten-free and made with really good ingredients. But it also is just simply the best tasting gingerbread cookies that you will ever have. So look out for those. They'll be on my website. and my Instagram. But these sprinkles are the best sprinkles on the planet. They use all natural dyes. They come in the most beautiful colors and shapes. And I just think that they're a must have in any kitchen. Sprinkles make things fun.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Like, if you make a normal cookie and then you add sprinkles to it, it's instantly a fun cookie. And you can also do with stuff like a muffin, a latte, just like an oatmeal. Like your morning oatmeal is just normal oatmeal. And then you add sprinkles to it. and it's all of a sudden, like, the most fun breakfast that you've ever had. And again, you'll send the theme here.
Starting point is 00:51:25 If this last year, year and a half taught us anything, it's that these little moments are really worth celebrating. I think sometimes we wait for permission. Like, it's like these, we have to wait for these larger moments that society deems worthy of our celebration. And we wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. And then maybe there's a global pandemic and we don't get to have them. Or maybe, God forbid, somebody dies.
Starting point is 00:51:49 or a relationship ends. And I just think that waiting for these big moments is not how I want to live my life anymore. And that does not mean I won't be celebrating the big moments because the big moments are very valid and worth celebrating. But I'm making a huge effort in my life to shift my focus towards the little moments to making every single day feel worthy of celebration so that I'm not wasting my time waiting around for a moment that may or may not ever come. So that said, put sprinkles on your oatmeal, you know, you're worth it. You're worth it. And another little fun thing, we have a sprinkles reusable baking mat. This is a silicone baking mat. So the idea is you have parchment paper. You're putting that down on your baking sheets all the time. It's going into the
Starting point is 00:52:37 garbage every time you use it or maybe every few times if you reuse it. But it's going into the waste stream. And that's obviously less than ideal from an eco-friendly perspective. But there's these cool. Reusable baking mats. They're made of silicones. They're very safe. Somebody asked me once, they were like, I don't know. I just feel safer with the parchment paper because it's paper. Partiment paper is coated in silicone. That is why it is non-stick. It would, if it were just paper, it would get soggy. It wouldn't be non-stick for anything that you're putting on it. Everything would stick to it. It would burn everything. So the silicone on the parchment paper is what's making it parchment paper versus just putting paper into your oven. So this is literally
Starting point is 00:53:17 just that, but without the paper so that you can wash it and reuse it. And this one has little sprinkles all over it and it's super cute. The company has a lot of different fun patterns. It's called gur. They just make kind of fun, like whimsical baking products. I think this is a really fun way to elevate your everyday life. Every time you make cookies, you have little sprinkles, Matt, looking up at you. If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with tea. My desk at work used to have at least 20 different types of tea on it at all times and my coworkers would stop by and be like, oh, I feel a little bloated or I think I have a cold coming on and I would give them personalized tea recommendations. Now that I work from home, you can be my new co-workers. I am so excited to share
Starting point is 00:54:02 one of my favorite tea brands with you, Peak. Peek's teas are really unique. They're extracted by a cold brew crystallization, a super gentle process that preserves active compounds at maximum potential. One of the things that I love most about it is you just get powdered tea, which means you don't need any bags, which can often contain glues and microplastics, or loose leaf brewers, which I love, but I use less often than I like because they're honestly so much work. With peak, you just pour the tea into your cup and give it a little stir. And even cooler, a lot of their blends can be brewed with cold water in addition to hot. I love their ginger digestion elixir, the mint herbal, and the hybiscous beauty elixir. I am also obsessed with their daily radiance liposomal vitamin C. I took it in the weeks leading up to my surgery and religiously every day after because
Starting point is 00:54:51 there are studies that show that vitamin C can help with healing, and I do think it was part of the reason that my recovery was so quick. Liposomal vitamin C has a specific encapsulation process that helps the vitamin C actually be delivered to yourselves for maximum bioavailability. I also love vitamin C to support healthy immune function and also to help support glowing skin from the inside out. If you've been following my Instagram journey with caffeine, you might have also seen that I have been experimenting with macha recently.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Peaks' sun goddess macha has long been the macha that I bought for Zach, it's organic, ceremonial grade, and quadruple toxin screen for purity. Macha in general is phenomenally good for you. It helps support skin health, digestion, and it provides a gentle, stress-free energy boost because of its al-thianning content. I've actually really been enjoying the sun goddess macho lattes that Zach's been making me some mornings. They don't make me feel jittery or anxious
Starting point is 00:55:50 like most caffeine does at all. Peak is currently offering an exclusive bundle to take you step by step through creating a healthy skin and energy routine, which includes their sun goddess macha, peak glass beaker, and two limited time offer bonus gifts, a handheld frother and detox book worth $45,
Starting point is 00:56:10 for free. You can also get an additional 5% off on the bundle or anything else on piquetee.com slash Liz Moody using my code Liz Moody. Again, it's piquetee.com, p-I-Q-U-E-T-E-A dot com slash Liz Moody with code Liz Moody. I cannot wait for you to try this tea. Now let's get back to the episode. Okay, the next one is very near and dear to my heart, is the gold thread candle company, Taylor Swift themed candles. These are full disclosure, my sister's candles from my sister's candle company. I could not be prouder of her. They are Taylor Swift inspired candles.
Starting point is 00:56:53 So they're candles inspired by Taylor Swift lyrics. We have like the red candle, the all too well candle. There's the folklore candle. And she basically takes the lyrics and the moods of different Taylor Swift songs and turns them into sense. and the packaging is absolutely stunning. I love, she has these matchbooks that are the cutest thing on the planet that you can get with the candles. And then the labels on the candles are stunning too.
Starting point is 00:57:19 So if you know anybody who's a fan of Taylor Swift, if you don't, like, where are you living and who are your friends? But this would just be the perfect, kind of whimsical, unexpected present for the Taylor Swift lover in your life, the gold thread Taylor Swift themed candles. All right. And then last up in our what if whimsical category, we have the Anthropocene reviewed, which is a book by John Green. It's also a podcast that I love.
Starting point is 00:57:46 It is not a wellness podcast. People always ask me what my favorite podcasts are outside of my own, which I always think is a weird question. Like, I guess mine is my favorite because you're supposed to hype yourself up, but I'm also, I don't know. It feels weird to say like, oh, my favorite podcast is the healthier together podcast hosted by me. Although maybe it shouldn't feel weird.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Maybe I should just feel comfortable. shouting myself out like that. But this is one of my favorite podcasts. I don't shout it out that much because it's not in the wellness realm and I feel like maybe people won't be as interested because it's such a different content matter. But John Green is a phenomenal author. He wrote The Fallenar Stars. He wrote paper towns. And this is a book and a podcast where he reviews different parts of the anthropomorphic world. So the human-centered universe. So he will review everything from fresh-cut, to, I think he reviewed malaria on one. It sounds weird, but what you end up with is this really beautiful, brief meditation
Starting point is 00:58:47 on who we are as people and what matters in our lives. They're short essays. It's a beautiful book. I'm loathe to say this because I feel like people are going to be like what, but it would be great like bathroom book because they're just really nice-sized digestible essays that you would finish one, finish your poop. you would close it up and you would say like, ah, like I really felt something. Not in my butt, but in my heart and in my mind.
Starting point is 00:59:15 So that's the Anthropocene reviewed. Okay, let's get fancy. We're doing wealth. So wealth in the deck really means all forms of wealth. It means what we value, everything from money in terms of value, but also to the lessons that we're taught and the things that we put up on pedestals in society and in our our individual lives. As I translated it to this gift guide, I just meant it as like fancy stuff. So this is the splurgy products. These are all products that I absolutely love, absolutely
Starting point is 00:59:48 I'm obsessed with, but they're definitely on the pricier side. So if you have anybody in your life who is willing to buy you one of these products, good for you. More power to you. It'd also be a great sort of gift where you pool together a few people and buy a gift for somebody. All right. So let's go. The aura ring. This is a very trendy thing right now. I feel like there was a thing a little bit ago where like Courtney Kardashian and Guinef Palo were like blaming each other on Instagram for how good of sleep they all got. And that was because they were tracking their sleep with the aura ring. So it's a very chic, pretty ring. Mine is gold. And you put it on your finger. It tracks so many different health metrics. One of the coolest things about it is that you can actually use it to cycle track. So you can,
Starting point is 01:00:35 it measures your temperature. One of the best ways to cycle track really, really precisely is to measure your temperature first thing when you wake up in the morning because a spike in your temperature will show that you're ovulating and you're measuring that in just sort of like a really micro way. I wanted to do that. Natural cycles does that and they have a thermometer. But I feel like my sleep is sometimes all over the place. And if I stress out about sleep, like I stress about having to take my temperature first thing in the morning and not having interrupted sleep in any way, then I won't. sleep well, so it didn't work for me in a lifestyle way, if that makes sense. But the aura does it automatically, like, while you're sleeping, it takes your temperature. It tells you how well you sleep.
Starting point is 01:01:18 So it can also, you can use it to cycle track. You can use it to tell you, like, when it's safe to have sex, if you're trying to have a baby or not have a baby. But then you can also use it just to kind of get a gauge of how deep your sleep was, how restorative your sleep was. It's just a really cool health monitor and for me it doesn't tip too far over. I think there's a lot of talk these days about various health monitors and whether they're less helpful or more helpful. And some of them tip too far for me where it's like that takes all of, I'm not going to track my blood sugar, even if doctors have said on this very podcast that it's a great idea and it's great health information. I'm not going to do it because for me, that takes a lot of the joy out of food. It puts
Starting point is 01:02:01 the controlling elements of my nature back into food. It stokes a lot of my anxiety elements that I used to have around blood sugar. So for me, that's, for me personally, it could be great for a lot of people. For me personally, that's tracking gone too far. The aura sits in a really nice space where it doesn't, it feels like gentle tracking, like useful tracking, but it doesn't feel like it makes me want to control anything more or stoke my anxiety. So that's the aura ring.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Absolutely love it. The Jube Red Light Therapy. Oh my gosh. I have wanted to do red light therapy for so long. It's amazing for so many things. Like it almost feels like it's too many things to be true, but then you look at the science and the research behind it and it kind of holds up. I definitely want to get somebody on this podcast to talk about it more so I can pepper
Starting point is 01:02:49 them with all of my questions because even doing like a pretty deep dive online, I couldn't get quite as much information about it as I wanted. but a lot of the experts that I really trust highly endorse red light therapy. I wanted to try it forever. I finally took the plunge when I got my surgery because it's supposed to be really, really good for wound healing inflammation. And I think it really aided in getting rid of my bruising and swelling and making that part of my recovery much, much, much quicker.
Starting point is 01:03:19 So that was really cool. And now I use it. I meditate with it. And it actually makes me more likely to meditate because I kind of feel like I'm doing a double whammy. It's hard sometimes for me to just sit and meditate and be like, okay, that was good for you. Good job, Liz, even though it's so good for me. And I feel such a difference if I'm doing it regularly. But if you do it in front of the juve, I'm like, you're also helping your skin health.
Starting point is 01:03:42 You're helping your inflammation levels. You're helping your hormone health. You're helping your mitochondria. Because really like supposedly, again, I want to look into this more. but the studies apparently show that it is good for all of those things. So getting that double whammy and makes me much more likely to meditate. It's also great for recovery for any athletes in your life. They have a bunch of different sizes.
Starting point is 01:04:04 The go is the most portable and also the most affordable. So I think that's the most giftable. But I have the, I don't know what it's called. It's like the smallest one that's not the go. And I love it. And I sit in front of it every single day. Next up for us wealthy people, the Charlie Goss closet overhaul.
Starting point is 01:04:22 This is definitely a splurge, but I did it this year and it changed my life. And I have to say in a weird way, you actually save, it's expensive, but you kind of save money because what Charlie does, she is a professional stylist. She was on the stylist episode of this podcast, which again, if you have not listened to, you must listen to. It will change your life. We talk about like how to look cute, but also be comfortable. We talk about like the five items everybody needs to have in their wardrobe. it's just kind of like a basic primer in how you can look chic and put together and like you know what you're doing fashion-wise even if you have no idea.
Starting point is 01:04:57 I am raising my hand right now. But it's a life-changing episode. And then I did this closet overhaul with Charlie and it was even more life-changing because what she does is she goes into your wardrobe and helps you figure out what you need, what you don't need, and that helps you fill those gaps. And she finds the best pieces at the most affordable prices, which is why I said in a weird way, you save money. And then I also save money because I feel no urge to shop for myself anymore, which I never would have said before. I literally walked by a bunch of stores in San Francisco the other day. And I was like, I don't even need to go inside them because Charlie didn't tell me to buy anything at any of those stores. I feel like my wardrobe is set. I feel like I am prepared to look cute in any
Starting point is 01:05:37 situation. I feel like this would be a wonderful gift for anybody sort of undergoing a big life change, like a college graduate, a new mom, somebody who has had a hard time adjusting to life during the pandemic or after the pandemic. It is, again, definitely a spart. And she has some lower priced items that she offers like services, like personal shopping and she has style guides. And those are really great options as well. But this, the closet overhaul, it's like, it is a game changer. The higher dose sauna blanket. Saunas are just, for me, it's one of the few health things. that I feel a difference directly after I do it. Like, I come out of a sauna and I am euphoric.
Starting point is 01:06:21 I feel healthy on a core level in a way that is hard to explain. I just feel so, so good. And the higher dose sauna blanket is really, really cool because it takes everything, the whole experience of being in a sauna, and it makes it really portable and storable. So it's basically a blanket. If you picture basically two heating pads that you crawl, between, that's what you're working with here.
Starting point is 01:06:46 So you just kind of spray it down to wipe it down between sessions, but it heats up your whole body. You get a lot of the health benefits and effects and euphoria of being in a sauna, but in this neat little sleeping bag size package that you can just kind of store under your couch or for us that we can take with us on Nomad Life. So that is absolutely incredible, huge fan. It's just a cool way to get the benefits of saunaing without having to like buy a whole sauna or go to gyms, which is obviously a harder thing to do these days and on and off.
Starting point is 01:07:19 And, you know, who knows what's happening with that at any given point. So big, big fan. All right. Next is the attitude signature satine sheet set. So it's not the most expensive on our wealth list. It's only $158 right now for the full sheet set. But it feels incredibly luxurious, which is why it's in this category. They are bamboo sheets. And they're, best sheets on the planet. Like they just really are. They breathe so well. And if you're a hot sleeper, I am the hottest sleeper on the world. Zach says that I'm like a furnace at night. These are the only sheets that will keep you cool. Like they are game changers. They come in beautiful colors. And I just think again, they're just a really beautiful way to upgrade an experience that
Starting point is 01:08:02 we all need to have every single night anyways. All right. Next up, the big blanket debate. I posted on my stories a while ago that I wanted to get a barefoot dreams blanket, but I didn't know if it was worth it. I wanted to know what you thought. I was like, what is the big fuss about this blanket? If you haven't heard about this blanket, a bunch of celebrities, Kim Kardashian are obsessed with it. I think all the Kardashians are. Chrissy Teigen, they're just like, I love this blanket. It's amazing.
Starting point is 01:08:28 And I was like, okay, what's so great about it? So I got one. And they are amazing, but with a caveat, the amazing part of it, which I feel like nobody adequately explains, is that it is a very soft blanket, but it is also a stretchy blanket, yet it breathes. When I say both of those things, I picture like a blanket that's made of plastic that would make me feel really sticky and sweaty underneath it and not breathe at all. This is not that. This blanket breathes so well.
Starting point is 01:08:54 It's so cozy and so comfortable. But here's the caveat. You will often see influencers link the Nordstrom rack version and they'll be like, look, it's on sale right now, blah, blah, blah. Don't get that one. It's not the same blanket. they literally produce a different blanket for Nordstrom rack than they do for their normal blanket. It's worse.
Starting point is 01:09:14 I got both. I tested both. The Nordstrom rack one is thinner. It's just, it's not as nice of a blanket experience. And I wouldn't put that up there in the giftable, worthwhile blanket category. However, the classic barefoot dreams in the wild throw blanket,
Starting point is 01:09:30 specifically that one, because the different blankets have different weaves. I don't know. It's like a whole thing. thing. The barefoot dreams in the wild throw blanket. Again, this will be linked on Liz Moody.com is phenomenal. It's so soft, so luxurious. You just want to cozy up under it all the time and it is indeed incredibly worth it. All right. And then we can't talk about wealth without talking about the her first 100K back to basics course. It is a course all about building wealth
Starting point is 01:10:01 and creating wealth and all of the training that we never got and money that we, We should have got that we deserve to get. I had Tori Dunlap, who is the woman behind her first 100K on the podcast earlier this year. It's a phenomenal episode, and I highly recommend you check it out. It answers basically all of our financial questions. I had a lot. I was not financially adept, but now I am because Tori taught me everything that I need to know. And I think that taking one of her courses, I recommend the Back to Basics course would be a really great gift for, again, like a college graduate, but also just, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:10:35 I feel like so many of us go through life not being taught this stuff, and it's such an empowering thing to learn. So I'd really recommend it for so many people. Our next category is love. And as we define love in the deck, it is about romantic love, yes. And this is the only category that I say if you're doing it with family members or perhaps people that you are less comfortable discussing certain topics with. There are sex questions in the love category.
Starting point is 01:11:03 So pre-screen them. just to be absolutely certain before reading them out loud, especially if there's younger people in the room perhaps. But for me, love is the romantic love, but it's also self-love and friendship and the under-discust parts of love that I think are as transformative and as important of love experiences as, you know, the type of love that we see in every romantic comedy and that we've been fed is the Prince Charming fairy tale story since the dawn of time. I really wanted the questions in the love section to celebrate friendship on that level, to put friendship up on that pedestal and to celebrate the relationship that we have with ourselves on that same level. So love, you will get the full range of those questions. And similarly, in this category, you'll get the full range of experiences.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Mostly, I would say it's like couples love, romantic love, whatever. But I really did lean into self-love in this section because, I don't know, I think we all We all deserve a little self-care and self-love. So first step is the resoar face towels. I don't know if this is resore or resoor, but they're basically face towels that are antibacterial, which I think is really important because when we're washing our face and we're leaving this like washcloth that's a little bit damp and a little bit dry, it's a prime breeding ground for bacteria.
Starting point is 01:12:25 And then when we go back to use that washcloth, the next night, we're putting that bacteria all over our face. So having an antibacterial face towel is so important. And I think having a washcloth, it's such a perfect little moment of luxury. It's a little present, but it can be a game changer, especially if anybody is struggling with skin issues. But honestly, just anybody change your face towel. It will change your life. So these are the resour anti-bacterial face towels.
Starting point is 01:12:53 The Act and Acre hair mask, it is one of my favorite hair masks of all time. It is a very moisturizing mask. So I have my protein masks and my moisturizing masks. And you don't want to over protein and you don't want to over moisturize. You really want to hit a balance between those two things. If you over protein, I don't know if you've seen this, the talk online recently about people who are unhappy with their oliplex experience. They're like, oh, my hair's breaking off.
Starting point is 01:13:19 But it's because they're using the shampoo and conditioner, they're using it every single day. And you're not, oliplex products have a lot of protein in them. And you're really not supposed to put protein in your hair every single day. So this on the flip side is very moisturizing. It is a beautiful mask. You can use it on all hair types. And what I love about it is that it really smells like wet earth on a beautiful, like, hike in northern Washington or something like that, like wet soil. But in this very upscale and elegant way, and the packaging is stunning.
Starting point is 01:13:51 And I just think it's lovely. The girlfriend collective sweatsuit. So wonderful. This company they use. sustainable materials. They have, they're very transparent about their supply chain. They use recycled materials. It's, it's just a wonderful company with really wonderful ethics behind it. But for the sake of this gift guide, that is very important, but you also need an amazing product. And their sweatsuits are amazing. They are absolutely amazing. They're so soft. They're
Starting point is 01:14:20 made from really thick and lovely material. And I also just think a matching sweatsuit is one of the best gifts you can give somebody because it's perfect for lounging. But then F's Charlie Goss. has taught us. You put it with like a lug boot and a leather jacket and then you have a cute going around town outfit. I put a scalp scrubber in my gift guide. I discovered scalp scrubbers maybe a year and a half ago and I think they've really changed the thickness and how fast my hair grows in. Basically by increasing blood flow to your scalp, you're encouraging hair growth. And it just feels like a really lovely luxurious present. But the scalp scrubbers are like, I think the one I have linked is like $6. So, but it's very cute.
Starting point is 01:14:59 It comes in really cute fun colors. My one tip with a scalp scrubber is, though, that I used to do it in the shower, and you shouldn't. You should do it before you shower while your hair is still dry because wet hair is way more prone to breakage, to tangling. And so you want to do it on dry hair, which is a lot stronger as much as possible. So before you get in the shower, take your scalp scrubber, give yourself a nice little head massage. Again, it just feels, oh, it's so luxurious, so lovely. just a little moment of bliss and decadence in our everyday lives, and then you get in the shower and wash your hair and everything as normal.
Starting point is 01:15:35 When I worked as a magazine editor, I wrote more than a thousand articles about turmeric because pretty much all of the doctors that I used as sources kept recommending it or citing it is one of the supplements that they would personally take. Here's the background. Turmeric is one of the most powerful ways to fight inflammation. In a nutshell, there are two types of inflammation, acute and chronic. Acute inflammation can actually be a good thing. It's one of the ways that your body heals and repairs itself. But when that system goes haywire, we get chronic inflammation, which essentially makes your body feel like it's constantly under attack.
Starting point is 01:16:08 The vast majority of doctors I work with cite chronic inflammation is one of the root causes of so many of our modern ailments. And research links inflammation with heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, cancer, arthritis, and gut issues like prone and ulcerative colitis. I am never going to sit around and tell you that a supplement will cure everything that ails you, but if you're looking for a turmeric supplement to help get your inflammation under control, I am extremely impressed with paleovales. To increase the bioavailability of turmeric, you need to consume it with black pepper, which most people know, and fat, which many people forget about. Paleo Valley's turmeric complex has black pepper and coconut oil to maximize absorption,
Starting point is 01:16:50 and three other powerful anti-inflammatories, ginger, rosemary, and clove for a maximum synergistic response. It also has no fillers, binders, or preservatives, and is made with all organic ingredients and just a veggie capsule. Finally, it's third-party tested, which is something I always look for in supplements as extra assurance of their quality. I've had my uncle taking this for about three months,
Starting point is 01:17:14 and he's gone from having debilitating back pain due to an autoimmune condition to being almost completely pain-free. Paleovality has a number of other incredibly high-quality, food-derived supplements, including a vitamin C that I adore. Vitamin C is my ultimate favorite supplement for skin health and a neuro-effect mushroom powder that Zach loves for increasing energy and focus. So definitely explore their website.
Starting point is 01:17:38 If you'd like to check out the turmeric complex, the vitamin C, the neuro effect, or any of Paleo Valley's other amazing products, head over to paleovali.com and use the code Liz M for 15% off. That's paleovalley.com and code Liz M for 15% off your order. And if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up on Instagram. I love chatting about this stuff. Now, let's get back to the episode.
Starting point is 01:18:06 The Dally Goods Soap. These soaps, they are hand soaps. They come in the cutest bottles, but they're the kind of thing you're proud to leave out on your sink. Sometimes when I'm filming videos and my sink has to kind of be in the shot, I'll move the soap from side to side so that it's always in the background of a shot. because I just think it looks so cute and it makes the shots look really cute.
Starting point is 01:18:29 The smell, though. This is hands down the best smelling hand soap on the entire planet. It is the, I want them to make room sprays. I want them to make perfume. I want my whole life to smell like this soap. The red one is my favorite. They're all meant to capture different
Starting point is 01:18:47 sort of like outdoor, whimsical, but they're not like naturey and earthy. The red ones, I don't know. They are the best smelling soaps on the planet. They're so cute. And again, it's just this perfect little gift to give somebody. You've got to wash your hands. So why not make it the best part of your day?
Starting point is 01:19:06 It literally makes washing my hands the best part of my day. And their whole branding is about slowing down and encouraging the enjoyment of these moments, of taking a little ritual moment to lather your hands and smell the aroma of the soap and feel the water running over your hands. And these soaps genuinely allow me to do that. They have turned me into a hand washer, a happy hand washer, the Dally Good Soap. Of course, we cannot let the love category pass without talking about sex a little bit. I know you guys love talking about sex because the NSFW sex Q&A episode that I released a few weeks ago is like one of my most downloaded episodes ever.
Starting point is 01:19:48 If you haven't listened to it, definitely do so. We go there. We talk about literally like. everything from positions to orgasms to connecting with your partner to like what you should be doing with your butt. But my guest on that episode was the wonderful Vanessa Marin. She is a sex therapist and she has a product called the Sex Position Playbook. It is incredible.
Starting point is 01:20:12 It's basically a bunch of different sex positions, why you should do them, exactly how to do them. I have it. It is a sex life game changer. I think it would be a perfect gift for like a girlfriend or a sister or a. again yourself. I feel like my whole gift guide is like, yes, I would like that. But that's the best gifts. Honestly, I will say if you're giving somebody a gift and there's no world where you can even get into the mind frame of wanting that yourself. Like obviously, we don't want all of the same
Starting point is 01:20:39 stuff. But that's where I get back into those like gift shop presents. I'm just like, if there's no world in which I would want it, why would I gift it to somebody else? So if you want this stuff, that's all good. The Vanessa Moran sex position playlist, highly recommend. amend. In the same sort of sexy sex category, we've got the Dame lube. Dame was a podcast sponsor a while back. They've also been an Instagram sponsor, but they also just have incredible sex toys. And this lube is so good. It's aloe based. It's pH balance. I have a code for them. It's healthier together for some discount because they were a podcast partner. So I'll put that in the lizmoody.com gift guide blog post. But it's just an incredible lube. Lub is so giftable, I feel like, because
Starting point is 01:21:26 it just comes in like a cute little package. And again, a great one. I mean, they could go together. You could give somebody this exposition playbook and some dame lube. And then they're basically good to go have all of their good times. And if they want their under eyes to not be puffy while they're having all those good times, the do forever eye masks. That was a weird segue. But I am here for it. So do is a really great brand. It started by Charlotte Parlor. who is a editor. She is an Instagram friend of mine. She's just a very smart cookie.
Starting point is 01:21:58 And these are eye masks that are made of silicone, I believe. And you can reuse them. So you can use them with any eye cream that you want. You just put them on. They help that eye cream or lotion or serum or whatever you have on your eyes penetrate better. They also look super cute. People do like little TikToks wearing them all the time.
Starting point is 01:22:18 But they look cute and they help whatever you're wearing penetrate better and then when you're done, you just kind of rinse it off and put it back in its container. So it's great for the environment. Super cute. Also great for you. Next up, we have the Alea perfume. I don't know if I'm pronouncing this right, but these are basically all natural essential oil-based perfumes. I discovered this at a tiny shop in Mill Valley, California, and I absolutely fell in love. My favorite is number 11. I think it's described as like a moss earth base with cardam, vanilla, and black pepper top notes. And I was just like, if anybody were to describe my dream perfume smell, like what I want to wake up smelling like every day, it is that
Starting point is 01:22:59 combination. I smelled it. It was heaven. It's my new signature scent. That's the number 11, but they have a bunch of really beautiful perfumes. And they come in small rollerball packaging, so they're reasonably priced. And just the most beautiful scents. And again, they're all essential oil so you can feel really good about putting them on your body. All right, a few more sort of like self-carry fun ones. We have the Olive and June mini-manny celebration set. Olive and June is my only nail polish that I use. They don't pay me to say that I wish they would sponsor me. Olive and June, if you're listening, please sponsor me. I love you so much, but they are amazing nail polishes. They're seven free, I believe, so they're free of the seven most common toxic chemicals that
Starting point is 01:23:43 are found in nail polish. But more, more. importantly than that, they're just the best quality nail polishes that I've ever put on my body. They come in the best colors. They have the best finish. They make your nails kind of look like they have that gel finish almost. And they also have really fun stickers. So this set has some like sparkly nail polishes. And then it also has stickers that you can put on top of the nail polishes. And then you have like a fun little bit of nail art. I just think it's such a fun present. It'd be such a fun one to do with a younger sibling. And you could paint your nails together and pick out the stickers.
Starting point is 01:24:19 But honestly, also for anybody my age, like, I want the stickers and I want the sparkly nail polish. I just think it's a really fun way to look down at your nails every day. When my nails look cute and I'm just typing away on my computer, sometimes I'll be typing the most boring stuff. And I'll look at my cute nails and I'll just get this huge smile on my face. I'll be like, oh, my God, this is great. I feel wonderful. So again, I'm sorry, it's just such a theme. Let's elevate all of these little moments of our everyday life.
Starting point is 01:24:49 We have hundreds of opportunities on a day-to-day basis to elevate our little moments. And I just think it's so worth doing. I just think bringing a little smile to your face a hundred times a day is going to matter more to your overall well-being, to your lack of stress, than bringing one huge reward smile, you know, once a week when you've earned your treat or whatever. Last up in the love category, the Mariposa vintage Chanel necklace. I bought myself this for my birthday last year, and I got so many questions about it. Basically, they take Chanel buttons, vintage Chanel buttons, and they turn them into little necklaces, and they're so cute.
Starting point is 01:25:31 They're much, much, much more affordable than anything you would actually buy from Chanel. I love that they're vintage, and I just think that they add such a fun touch to any outfit. All right, we have made it to the last category of the gift guide and the last category of the Healthier Together deck, which is the Growing Up category. This is a really fun category if you're like, how did you become the person that you are? This category will answer that. There's lots of fun questions about childhood, about sibling dynamics, about what your parents taught you or didn't teach you. And then there's also questions that forecast into the future. Like, what do you think you'll regret the most at the end of your life.
Starting point is 01:26:13 What excites you the most about getting older? What scares you the most? What do you picture your life looking like, you know, later on down the line? So it's a really good opportunity to reflect on all of the different stages of life. And because of that, somebody suggested I make this the kids present area. And I honestly tried for a little bit, but I don't know anything about shopping for kids. I don't feel like I'm an expert in that arena at this point in my life. So if you are interested in presents for children,
Starting point is 01:26:46 I highly recommend checking out my friend Monique. She's ambitious kitchen. She has a wonderful gift guide every single year. And then Rachel Mansfield also has a really wonderful gift guide every single year. Both of them have multiple children. I feel like they're way more of experts in the subject matter. So if you're looking for gifts for kids, definitely check them. out. I don't feel like I am an expert in that subject matter, but maybe, maybe someday, maybe
Starting point is 01:27:11 tune back in later. But I thought a fun one for this category would be the legacy journal. So this is a really cool journal. It basically is a place to record memories, recipes, things that are often lost with people if we don't capture them. And I think it's really special. You can either give it to a loved one and have them fill it out. And then you have all of that information about them in one place or you can sit down with them and you can do it together and that gives you this really beautiful moment to explore and talk about and have them share all of their stories and share the first time they found out about this recipe or what their childhood was like it's honestly a little bit like an extension of the healthier together deck and that it can give room for
Starting point is 01:28:01 those conversations that we might not be having and I actually think a cool use of the deck would be to take some of the questions and either in a recorded audio format, recorded video format, or recorded written format, capture what some of the people in our lives have to say about that in a just more permanent way because you never know when you're not going to get to hear those answers from people anymore, which is morbid, you know, but it's also true. And I think that capturing these special things while we still can is really, really, really important. So the Legacy journal is a really, really great way to do that. And I just think I picture the stories that would ensue and they make me smile and they make me really happy. Okay, that was our 2021. It feels so
Starting point is 01:28:49 weird to say 2021. I cannot believe we're at the end of 2021. The 2021 holiday gift guide. I hope that you love it. I hope you found a lot of inspiration for great presents to give people in your life. I also hope you found some great products, recommendations for things that might change your life, that you might want to gift yourself because these are truly, honestly, my favorite products of 2021. And I really like using the gift guide as both that, the recommendation for great gifts, but also just these are my strongest recommendation, some of my absolute favorite things from 2021. And I'm so excited to share them all with you.
Starting point is 01:29:27 And if you are interested in checking out the healthier together deck, my favorite. gift of the year and not just because I worked on it for months and months and months and months, and months trying to make it the most perfect and wonderful possible thing to share with all of you. Starting point is 01:29:53 I would love to see it in action. I would love to hear your thoughts, your feelings, your reactions. Actually, with any of the gifts on this list, if there's anything that you end up buying or sharing for yourself for anybody else. Tag me on Instagram. I'm at Liz Moody. I would love to see. Starting point is 01:30:09 on the next episode of the Healthier Together podcast. And in the meantime, I hope you're having a beautiful and wonderful holiday season. Look, I'm never going to make everything that I wear organic. But your sheets, your pillows,
Starting point is 01:30:31 your comforter are literally touching your skin for eight hours every single night. That is a third of your life right there with one simple swap. And if your bedding is worn out, it's trapping heat or it's made with questionable materials, your sleep is going to suffer.
Starting point is 01:30:46 And so will everything that depends on it? You want a bed, you deserve a bed that you are excited to get into every single night so that you can get the sleep that you need to feel your best. That's why I love bowl and branch so much. Their signature organic cotton sheets are incredibly soft. You notice that the first night and they are so breathable, which is a godsend if you sleep hot like I do. But what massively impresses me is that in an area,
Starting point is 01:31:11 where everyone is greenwashing everything, Bowlin Branch takes the safety and the quality of their products so seriously. They're got certified, meaning the organic integrity is verified at every single step of production, not just the raw material. They're Okotech certified, which I always look for. It means that everything has been tested and cleared for harmful substances from the yarn all the way to the finished product.
Starting point is 01:31:35 And they are fair trade certified. So the people actually making your sheets are being paid and treated fairly. Most people start with the signature sheet set, and honestly, once you feel them, you're going to want to do the entire bed. They feel like a fancy hotel, but maybe even better. It's made travel actually worse for me, fair warning. Because my own bed at home is like nicer than the nicest hotels. It just feels so good. I get so excited to get into it every single night. Starting point is 01:32:17 Exclusions apply. If you have headaches, allergies, brain fog, skin irritation, or you've been dealing with hormone issues, you are especially going to want to listen to this ad. Every single thing that I just listed has been linked to chemicals and household cleaners. One study found that regular use of cleaning sprays was associated with a lung function decline comparable to smoking 10 to 20 cigarettes per day. Synthetic fragrances are a well-documented migraine trigger and a number of studies have linked ingredients in common household cleaners to fertility issues, thyroid dysfunction, mood changes, and more because of their impact on our
Starting point is 01:32:56 endocrine systems. Luckily, you can just make one simple swap and you can eliminate all of those risk factors that you get from common household cleaners. Branch basics makes cleaning products that are plant and mineral based, completely fragrance-free, and made safe certified, meaning they are screened against thousands of known and suspected harmful chemicals. And best of all, you literally use one product, but you mix it with different amounts of water to make your kitchen spray, your bathroom cleaner, your laundry detergent, your produce wash, your glass cleaner, literally everything. It does not smell. It does not give me headaches. It does not give me rashes or itchiness from clothes because you are. Remember, we're using this for laundry.
Starting point is 01:33:36 We're using this for literally everything. And it works so well. Everything gets so clean. And I know that I'm protecting myself from all of those long-term issues too. And I'm protecting my kittens who are much tinier than me. So anything they're exposed to has a much greater impact on their little tiny systems. And they're running around on their little paws and then they're licking them. So I'm protecting them too.
Starting point is 01:33:58 Branch Basics is now available at Target.com, Amazon and branchbasics.com. so it's easier than ever to make the switch.
