Starting point is 00:00:00 Show it up you Derek. I think Derek's going to do a pump. Don't do a pump. I'm not going to do a pump, but I nearly did a pump. I don't agree with that in the workplace. We're not in the workplace. This is a little adult playpen that me and you get to enjoy every Tuesday, no, Monday and Thursday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:24 It's Luke and Pete Your up. I'm Pete Donaldson. Yeah. Friday, Sunday. Nothing sums up the relationship we have with each other by me saying, don't do that in the workplace and you're saying it's not a work. It's not a work for me. That is essentially the summary
Starting point is 00:00:36 of our relationship for the last 20 years. Ah! How you doing everybody? It's Luke Picchu, I'm joined by Mr. Luke E. Mua. Can we write Luke E. Mool? You said it like... Or Wiley Coyote. Wiley Coyote.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Yeah, that's what it makes it sound like. How are you, mate? I'm good. We've both got nice trousers on today. Yours and nice mine are... I've seen better days, to be honest. A lot of my fancy trousers have seen better days, I'm honest.
Starting point is 00:00:59 I just think when you dress in trousers like that, which I like, by the way, I would definitely wear those on the golf course, for example. I would, and you fall off your bike and have to be rescued by an old woman. Not a woman,
Starting point is 00:01:10 she was a young Spanish lady. All right, like a young Spanish lady. And then we kissed. It's worse when you're wearing trousers like that. It is, yeah. We just hide the blood. Some what?
Starting point is 00:01:20 No, but wearing a pair of trousers like that is a conscious decision to go, I back myself here. And it's fallen down because you've come off the bike. Because of the things I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Yeah, I've also got, I've got quite a lot of stains on my claws. I'm quite, can you see, is there a white yellow stain on my back? Can you see it? Yeah, it looks like it's got that. What's that thing that's in curry? Guy.
Starting point is 00:01:40 No, no. Renet. No, it's one of the spices and it's... Oh, cumin. Cumin, and it's the one thing that insurance doesn't cover because it's just so unbelievably orangey. It just makes everything very orange. I didn't realize that.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Anything you want to throw at it. I didn't realize the dimension. I think it might be cumin. It might not be cute. It might be something else. Anyway, um, you. Yes, I went to Poland this weekend. Very good.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Last weekend, you mean? Last weekend, yes. And I came out of my Airbnb. Indy club? Bang, straight into the Indy Club. No, there was an Indy Club. There was a Depeche Mour night. I quite enjoyed.
Starting point is 00:02:20 That was good. An indie club where a woman knocked past me, knocked my pint. I'm good for dropping pints after a few. Knocked my pint on the floor. Then came back and remonstrated with me, I was like, you knocked into me. She went, ah, British, I understand.
Starting point is 00:02:35 And then tootled off. And you were... She was horrible. Imagine that being an actual story you tell to someone at 45 years of age. What do you mean? So you got into an... It wasn't indie club, it was an indie bar.
Starting point is 00:02:47 They played indie music. It's Depeche Mode night. My favourite Indian music. Is it the Pesh Mode night? No, it was a different one. What part of Pylem was it? What was. And what was the pint you were drinking?
Starting point is 00:02:58 I forget how to pronounce it correctly. White Rourke. Polish Polish Lager. We check. Now. Not having a Tisky? Didn't say any, to be honest. Do you reckon it's just a pub?
Starting point is 00:03:14 They only sell it in England? Yeah, it's like Madrid. Like Fosters. It's, uh, Jivietz. Okay. Jivets. I was having a Jivietz. Who are you with, Little Al?
Starting point is 00:03:25 Little Al. Craigie. Craigie, hello, she got drunk and, for a joke, washed his face in a bottle, which I very much enjoyed. This is what's going on. Is it going on 45? Don't mind it. Can I, I mean this with love? You can't take my daughter away from me.
Starting point is 00:03:41 You just can't. I'm a father. I'm a pillar of the community now. What is it you've learnt about me in the last few years? I want another three-year-old. Yeah. Oh God, they're so difficult. I'll have Pete's three-year-old as well. Thanks. That'll make it better.
Starting point is 00:03:54 No, I want to know, and I mean this with love. Right. This is a neutral question I'm asking here. not casting any aspersions whatsoever. Do you ever go through a period of self-reflection and go, why am I doing this all the time with the same people? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:04:10 Well, I don't get to see you. That's what we do. You see them all the time. No, I don't. You do about eight of these trips a year. I do three, if I'm lucky. Be honest. Be honest.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Be honest. Yeah, I am being honest. You seem to do them all the time. Life goes fast. And you only remember that because I directly tell you about them because it's content of the Luke and Peach Show. every silly thing that happens I go
Starting point is 00:04:30 can't have a little picture I came out my Airbnb the president of Poland was literally on my doorstep amazing I've been a go I think Donald Tusk so I thought when you said that to me before I thought you meant Donald Tusk you know he's the prime minister they're at loggerheads are they I couldn't figure that one out I think they are yes I think that I see
Starting point is 00:04:48 I sort of Google it yes after that and I was like yeah that was there was I tell you what if you want to see some the meanest security people on the planet get a Polish presidency because fucking hell they're tough guys I wouldn't mess with half of one of them
Starting point is 00:05:05 good God they look massive they looked they were they were well dressed and they just looked like they could just fold you up and just
Starting point is 00:05:15 they're just all that all that business it was I love you to a step to one of them that'd be so good and insert my own you know bum into my own mouth
Starting point is 00:05:24 how have they done this which is a different club you go to You even went to a city that's named after a Joy Division song in the shape of Warsaw, didn't you as well? That's how indie the weekend was. What was the most indie thing you did? I bet you danced in quite a self... I didn't do any dancing.
Starting point is 00:05:44 I did do karaoke and I sang Take It Back Sunday. Thank you very much. Did you really? Yeah, I did. I kind of feel like I've got you pigeon huddled in as kind of dancing in a quite a self-conscious way to like a pulp song. on a dance floor, which is semi-deserted, but you've still got a pint in your hand. I mean, I'm on nodding terms of that image, yes.
Starting point is 00:06:07 That may be something that may have happened, yes, right, fine. And because you're, and in the words of Alan Partridge, who's talking to psychic Simon, because you haven't got the commitment to proper dancing, you'll do like a semi-self-deprecating robot at some point. Yes, apologetic robot. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Again, succinctly observed, yeah. And who was the most drunk out of you, Alan Big Craig?
Starting point is 00:06:28 Big Craig on one night, but then he sacked off the last night, so he's full of foul. He just stayed home, did he? Stay dumb. He had a few drinks, and then went to him. Can we face it?
Starting point is 00:06:37 Does he have a cocktail bar next to the day? Oh, he was great. Can you keep up with a little owl these days? No, not really, no. I start very fast and go slow, and he starts slow and goes fast. You know what I'm doing if I go to the, for a night out or whatever?
Starting point is 00:06:50 I'm having probably two pints and a couple of shandies, and that's it? That's me these days? My normal setting is like, at maximum three quarters a bottle of Prosecco, that's it. Where has that come from? What?
Starting point is 00:07:02 You're just Friday night dinner, Friday night fish and chips and Prosecco. But what about, not drinking Pastreco when you're in Warsaw, are you? No.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I had a, I had a couple of ice whiskeys. Your laager, laager, laager, laugue. You're a couple of nice whiskeys. It's where they do good laager for crying outload.
Starting point is 00:07:17 A couple of nice whiskeys as well. A martini, dirty martini. Very nice. Very nice. Do you ever in Berlin once you and I broke into that party and we're running around corridors
Starting point is 00:07:24 looking for Campari? No, I don't. Remember that? No, I don't. We were in a club quite late in Berlin once. Right. And you were, you got to have a campari and orange. You're in a big campari in orange phase.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Was that my compari in summer? Yeah, forgotten. Yeah, yeah, forgotten. But that didn't happen, didn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then the guy with behind the bar on was like, we were quite a trendy Berlin place. And the guy was like, we haven't got any campari.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And so we were going to go find some. And we just went off on a mad mystery tour. We ended up in some weird private party and around some corridor, some Berlin club. I think that's a very charming story. We didn't finally Kampari in the end. Which is a shame. There you go, and you've been gallivanting around Warsaw.
Starting point is 00:08:03 What was the flight there and back like? Fine, whizzer, very stripped down, but I love a wazer flight. I think they're really good. Do you think there's anything in this conspiracy theory about what happened at Heathrow yesterday at the time of recording? Oh, what do you think it's the Russians? No, people think of the Israelis.
Starting point is 00:08:23 No, they wouldn't. wouldn't. They just wouldn't. Two months after oh yeah, because they're known to not be to have a massive network. They're not to have been reasonable, aren't they? It may have been reasonable as well. They wouldn't do that. No, there was a... Too much, too much shit. People were commenting,
Starting point is 00:08:38 it's just Tim Four hat stuff, I know that. People were commenting that two hours after the Miliband policy was announced. Right. It all went to shit. Occam's Razor. What's the most likely? Would you shit at our job sometimes? Well, so you're saying, for example, that there hasn't been sabotage in the infrastructure network of the UK in
Starting point is 00:08:55 recent years. No, they have. But it's usually the Russians or the Iranians. Yeah. Or the North Koreans. Is it? Sometimes the North Koreans? They haven't got the purchase, have they?
Starting point is 00:09:03 They're not. They're always pissing about, aren't they? I thought it was more cyber stuff, though. Yeah. Well, you're not going to go up and, I don't know. I don't know how to turn off the planes that he throws. This is definitely a digital problem. Russians were, there's talk of Russians starting fires and stuff, weren't there?
Starting point is 00:09:17 Yeah. You do, when you're flying into Poland, which is, you know, obviously on the chopping block for Putin, if he was going to create any problems, like Poland's one. of those ones. Yeah. They had that drone thing in Germany.
Starting point is 00:09:28 I was a bit like, I've shot down passenger planes before. But, that would be sad for me. That would be sad. It'll be the Luke and Luke's thoughts. And Pete, and memories of Pete.
Starting point is 00:09:39 The Luke and memories of Pete, sure. It would be selfish of you because getting someone to replace you at 48 hours, notice the recording would be, I've got enough on as it is. I can't be doing that.
Starting point is 00:09:48 That's to get Bruno in. Yeah. Let's get producer Bruno, make his debut. It would not be a pro. It would not be making the show anyways. And Wizzair were okay, were they? They were okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I guess sort of dodged a bullet because it was yesterday that all thing kicked off. Well, if I have access to, landed back in London at like quarters to 12, and when we got home from, a picture up in the airport, we got home from Heathrow, it was on the radio.
Starting point is 00:10:10 So we were that close. Right. So was it just Heathrow? No, it was everywhere, wasn't it? It was like, last night, it was just talk. It was Heathrow. It was Birmingham, it was Manchester. I think it was East Midlands, maybe.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Right. It was affecting everywhere. But you couldn't get South End Airport, could you? I was thinking, no, there's no flight, no point. No flight. I played golf right next to Southland Airport with Big Power a few weeks ago. Very few planes. Yeah, in the four-hour round, I think I saw one plane.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Yeah. Does that sound about right? They're usually like little planes, aren't they? Oh, yeah, there's a few little ones came in, but only one kind of passenger. Big lad, yeah. I was thinking it would be mad if every single flight was grounded in the world, how it would affect our lives.
Starting point is 00:10:50 It would affect our lives in the big way, presumably. I guess so, yeah. We'd have to just sort of, we do. eat a lot of potatoes. I imagine. Yeah, you have to go back to the old dig for victory, wouldn't me? Yeah, I'd eat foxes.
Starting point is 00:11:01 I'd have to eat foxes. I'd be a good source of protein. There's a lot of them, aren't there? Badgers, there are a lot of them. There are a lot of them. I sort of think, you know, you think about the, certainly when you become a father, you think about risks and, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:13 managing risks and stuff like that. So when I go on, you know, I occasionally go on these little trips, I do sort of think, I mean, what if I, I mean, I've got life insurance and I'm more used to her dead, but, um, you've become a lot more e-ore over the last day or two
Starting point is 00:11:29 like today you've been terrible been on the Reddit stop going on the Reddit I like it's like a bruise I like to push in my thumb into no one fucking cares I know I know I know the thing about you got understanding about Reddit
Starting point is 00:11:42 and this will go on this is what I'm about to say we'll go on Reddit right is that if they are honest with themselves right when they're not at their computer they're sitting at home watching telly having a dinner or whatever, in their hearts of heart, these people, they know what they're doing doesn't matter. They know it absolutely does not matter. But my point is, right, is that I know that.
Starting point is 00:12:06 You probably know that. But if the same thing gets repeated over and over again, people in the office will start to react to me slightly different. And who's in charge of the office? You can't manage this office, look you can't manage this office. You can't manage this office. I'm not in charge of anything. I can't change anything.
Starting point is 00:12:21 I can't change anything. If the biggest impact is that I have to listen to you dripping about it, that's the biggest impact. It makes me sad. But that's the main, but we used to be... If they knew they were making you sad, if they knew they were making you sad, do you think they would stop?
Starting point is 00:12:36 Probably not. So there you go, then. Don't let them win. I know, I know. Again, I'm not bothered about that criticism itself because it's nebulous. It's just an opinion. We talk about one thing,
Starting point is 00:12:46 and they go, I don't agree with that. Fine, I don't care. Right? And there are certain things that I know I do, that I shouldn't do but fuck it I don't care I'm 45
Starting point is 00:12:55 I'm gonna change now but it's more I don't want to let the side down because you know you know me with the greatest respect you must know that my main worry
Starting point is 00:13:04 is just being a fucking anchor and I'm being a bit You're letting the side down by knowing the shit out of me every fucking day I know well yeah exactly who's who's posting
Starting point is 00:13:11 those Reddit comments you know I reckon it is that Pete I reckon it's Jay Z Michael Jordan Tiger Woods Chris Nolan I reckon is probably on there yeah These high achieving individuals.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're always wasting. They're definitely going to waste their time talking about you. I liked it when they had a got your mustache. But they would never go to me. But now there are no more, but I didn't say anything when they were having to go to your mustache. And now they're after me because I was not a mustache.
Starting point is 00:13:40 So I was saying that calculate a risk of managing risk or stuff, you sort of go, oh, God, it's a bit silly doing stuff that you don't have to do. You know, I don't have a nice time though, right? That's what you like to do. Makes you better dad. Hung over dad. But thinking about it, I'm in the exact flight plan for every flight that goes into the South End. So if a plane's coming down as it comes into South End, it's fucking double, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:14:02 So we're all at risk, really. So they know how to get older than. So I think I'm going to have a conversation with Sarah. I'm going to be an air-based digital nomad working exclusively off British Airways and Wi-Fi. I'm not going to get off the flight. I'm just going to stay in airports like that airport man that time. Oh, you're always going to be in the air like the President of the United States. If there's a big...
Starting point is 00:14:22 Yeah, okay. Air Force Pete. Got to keep it flying. That would be great. Yeah. I'd love that. How long do you reckon you'd last? Oh, I could eat bad food like forever, I think.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Yeah. Well, evidently. Your legs gone blue. So yeah. I just think you shouldn't worry too much about that stuff. It's important for you to do stuff you enjoy. Right? Get out there and enjoy it, enjoy it, enjoy yourself.
Starting point is 00:14:45 I just think it statistically, it's interesting that I literally live on a flight plan. So I'm at risk of getting hit by loads of But doesn't everyone in London live on a flight path? No, but it's direct. Like, if I fired a revolver I own over the sky, I don't want a revolver. If I fired a revolver, I definitely own directly up the sky. I'd hit an easy jet. How high is it go over your house, then?
Starting point is 00:15:10 Well, they're coming into land. Yeah, exactly. But how high they're at the point they go over your house? I know how planes fucking work. Longer than a meter, I don't fucking know. Look at any day of my job in my house, I don't know. But if you look directly up when a plane comes over. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:23 They're bigger. People who aren't used to it. Is it loud? Are like, fuck. Is it loud? You don't, it's not really that often. Do you have sympathy with the people at the Heathrow flight party can play? No, he's been there forever.
Starting point is 00:15:35 When was he throw built? 50s? Bruno. Most things like that were like, poor, weren't they? Most projects, big airport projects. Used to be army. The airport. 646 Heathrow apparently.
Starting point is 00:15:47 There would have been that many flights then, though. Is he? That's 946. after the war. When I used to walk back from Sky, I was based in Brentford for a while. And I used to walk back to Gunnersbury Station or run back or whatever. Yeah, I actually got a bit of affection for it. It was the nostalgic affection.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Not quite on the Piccadilly line, but could be... No, it isn't the Piccilly line, isn't it? It's not... It's a district line. It's not quite on the Piccadilly line. Could have been on the Piccadilly line. Waste of space. Yeah, but nostalgicly...
Starting point is 00:16:14 Not even chisick proper. Rubbish. Yeah, it's not really fully chisziate. But the nostalgia I have for it is quite... runs quite deep in me. Anyway, when you used to walk back to Gunnersby from Brentford, you could see the planes lining up
Starting point is 00:16:25 to land at Heathrow. And they would honestly be landing, they'd be landing every 45 seconds. Mad, isn't it? They look like this too close. It's a queue. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Get down, get off the way. orchestrate that. Well, my friend, my friend Tim is in charge of Heathrow approach for Nats. Tim pushing tin? She'd call him pushing Tim. Pushing Tim.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Yeah, he is, honestly. He does the, he does Heathrow approach. How do they, how do they, how do they, Is it 20 minutes on 20 minutes off? I think it might be 20 minutes on 40 minutes off. Right. And you've always got someone over your shoulder.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Yeah. Go ahead. Don't fuck this up, Tim. And there's loads of backup systems and stuff. But I think there is in theory the idea that if you, if it did all go to shit and there were planes in the air, you'd have to do the vectors kind of manually with mathematics and stuff like that. Yeah, they do, yeah, it's manual. I mean, that is bananas.
Starting point is 00:17:12 I mean, the whole thing is bananas. There's an element to it that I think you might, I don't know this because I've not asked him. But you know when, actually, weirdly enough, it's similar to the whole Reddit thing. It's an element to it, I feel like it doesn't bother me that shit
Starting point is 00:17:27 because to me, I feel like I'm of the generation. I remember the life quite fondly before the internet. There's an element to me that the internet, I know this is problematic because it is real, but it doesn't always feel fully real. Right. So it's almost a bit like, like, because to me, the juxtaposition
Starting point is 00:17:43 between every single person who listened to a show in real life that I've met who's come up to me has been universally nice, right? And every single person in the internet seems like they're cunts, right? And that can't be the case, and it must just not be quite real. And I think with their traffic controlling, is there an element that you're looking at a screen,
Starting point is 00:18:00 and it's all a little bit, but you're a bit removed from it? You understand a rummock. Yeah, you understand a big bang. Yeah, you understand ramifications, but, like, actually, you're not looking directly up at the planes, are going, right, you go over there, so it's a bit of removal. But they have conversations with the pilots who are flying these things, and they look up, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:14 sometimes if a landing gear hasn't come around, they'll do, like, a flyover, and the people in the tower will look up and go, who's landing gear, is not down? So they do do visual. We can see you visually out the window and stuff. That's why they're on a big tower. The fail say for the landing gear is that you just hit some
Starting point is 00:18:30 automatic thing and they just fall out, don't they? Yeah, but they don't always do that though, so you've got to have a little belly landing. Got to land them on the belly. Didn't Ports Malone have to land just playing on a belly once. Really? American stars waste a lot of fucking money on private jets where they could just have a really nice.
Starting point is 00:18:45 It's also a lot of, over the years, I'm thinking particularly in the 70s and the 80s. and probably before that, a lot of internal flights seem quite dangerous in America. I don't know how they... Weather, severe lack of regulation, quite reckless pilots,
Starting point is 00:19:00 substance abuse. It's an amazing combination. The cocaine years of the 80s, you imagine. It was that guy, was it Randy Rhodes? You know the story of Randy Rhodes? I don't know, Randy Rhodes. So Randy Rhodes is dead.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Right. He died in the 80s. He was the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Oh, well, they did that mad fucking fly-by thing. a plane. Yeah. And just flew it. Had a fly around.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And one of them crashed it. And that's him dead. Didn't it hit the bus? It hit the tour bus, didn't it? It clipped a tree or a tour bus or something. Yeah. Crazy what they used to get up to.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Absolutely crazy. That is crazy. I think, actually, before we finish this section, I would very honestly like to say to people, don't stop being mean to people. I said I'm not bothered about the people being mean. But you said you're not bothered about it for that's 40 hours constantly. I'm not bothered. A friend of the show slash.
Starting point is 00:19:48 a business partner. Who? Oh, okay, yeah. Caught me at a time when I was quite hung over. And I was reading Reddit comments and I was a bit depressed. But it's not, as I said,
Starting point is 00:19:59 it's not about the comments or something. I don't get, like, those things have been said before, but it was just a bit of a tolerant. It was like, I don't want to let the side down for those people to read, for you guys to read that
Starting point is 00:20:07 and sort of go, Pete's being rubbish. And I'm not. I'm trying my hardest. I know how rubbish you are. I've worked with you every day. Exactly. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Good point. No one on the internet I've not met is going to let me know if you're rubbish. But I mean, saying, you know, Peter doesn't know it's a fucking, I don't care. It's a sort of thing, fucking a 15-year-old would say. Stop saying you don't care. It makes it sound like you really care. But that side of things I don't care, Mike.
Starting point is 00:20:25 I'm trying to explain that. I don't actually care about the comments themselves. I don't want people to think I'm letting the side down. Have I got to the point? And we've, we've crossed the Rubicon and the point where Luke is enjoying me getting flustered. It's not that I'm enjoying it. I think you are.
Starting point is 00:20:40 These are the ramblings of a madman. I know. You're a madman. I know. A total madman. Anyway, let's move on to more. I don't want David Carledge, anyway. Does he get stick?
Starting point is 00:20:48 He gets stick. Because he's not one of the main ones. Because he's not one of the main ones. I was one of the main ones I'm still getting stick. Who cares? You are one of the main ones, yeah, definitely. One of the main ones.
Starting point is 00:20:57 You're not technically one of the original ones. All right. Where's Chrissy Apples? How many of Chos does he do? You know what? I haven't heard from him. No. I have not.
Starting point is 00:21:05 He doesn't like me very much. Lazy. He didn't like me very much. He didn't like you very much. And when he left. I can't imagine how full on you were at that age. you can but he
Starting point is 00:21:16 didn't even come and get his gear back yes some of his gear was in my house when I moved to house I showed you the desk yeah found the desk in my attic because I gave it back to you thinking you would see well that's what I thought
Starting point is 00:21:27 I even arranged from him to come and get it right never came and now it is obsolete absolutely you could probably sell it to like some hipster is it vintage now no it's an analogue it's an entry level
Starting point is 00:21:40 analogue mixing desk with 10 channels. But doesn't that stuff come around again, though? You never say never. Just about storing it, and it's a big old chunky lad. And also like capacitors leak and stuff. I imagine it's filled with that sort of thing. Yeah, I've got an email here from 2009 from Chris Apples. Right. Give me my stuff back. Sorry I haven't got back to you about picking up my equipment. I'm sorry for messing you around. I'm going to be selling it. So if you want to buy it, let me know. We can agree a price.
Starting point is 00:22:07 And I was like, yeah, sure. Come over on Monday or Tuesday. And then he didn't reply. scared of your business acumen he's like he's got me over a barrel don't think so don't think so I don't think that's going to be what it is by the way speaking of entirely different subjects I've just had to buy some
Starting point is 00:22:24 let me get the name of this right I don't want to mess it up okay but I have just had to buy some diatomaceous earth powder you know what that is diatomaceous earth I wouldn't even know how to kind of was it like bone meal or something what was it I don't know what diatomaceous mean should I find out diatomatomatius sounds like one of
Starting point is 00:22:40 words that you know you've near cause to use. Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring, crumbly, sedimentary rock made out of the fossilized remains of tiny aquatic algae. Okay. Are you trying to fix some soil so you can grow some stuff in it? No. Right. Are you going to eat it?
Starting point is 00:23:00 So it is a... Longer nighttime erections. A non-toxic way of killing slugs. Oh! So a toddler and... pet safe way of killing slugs because they keep crawling up through the gaps in the floorboards and get
Starting point is 00:23:16 into my living room. That's a very interesting that's a very interesting situation you found yourself in and I I will have to get some of those because my entire back garden is saturated by these little fuckers and with a very rainy winter
Starting point is 00:23:32 what do you call it autumn coming I think it's going to be even worse a couple of weeks ago my son ran into the room and woke me up saying, daddy, there's a slug on my transporter, to which I thought I was still dreaming. I was like, what the fuck is going on? So I ran that, I said, don't touch you it.
Starting point is 00:23:50 He's like, okay. He said, do you want to show him? And he said, yeah. De-slug the transporter. He went down there, there was a slug on this transport, and they crawled up through the gap between the wall and the floorboard. And I've seen two more sins. You think they wouldn't sort of squeeze.
Starting point is 00:24:02 It's quite a big gap. Old house. Right. Interesting. No mice have an absolute fun time, but you sort of think. But we don't get mice because of the cats. But the mice never come near us. So what we have to do is...
Starting point is 00:24:13 Can we not train the cats to eat the slugs? Do you reckon they can? They don't move very fast. I'm not sure. I'm not sure to be interested. So we're going to have to sprinkle diatomaceous earth powder through the floorboard. Diatomaceous earth powder.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Yeah. Does it kill them or just attempt to go away? Kills them through dehydration. Oh, it's just like salt then. You put salt on them and they fizz and everyone gets sad. I think it's less cruel than that, though. Less cruel. And then I'm going to have to silicon the gap between the wall and the floorboards, I think.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Right. So... I don't eat some silicon. The problem of an old house is it looks nice and our house has got all the old original cornucing and the nice plaster of Paris up on the ceiling and stuff like that. What do you call it when it's got like a thing
Starting point is 00:24:51 around the light fitting? A rose, isn't it? Yeah, sitting rows. It's got a load of those. A lamp rose. The problem is it's got gaps everywhere. It's grafting. So that's the problem.
Starting point is 00:25:01 But I didn't even know diatomation's earth powder existed, but one of my son's friend's father is a pest controller and I asked him about it. And I asked him in a way which was I'm not paying for this advice No no no unspoken was it If I throw you a few queer
Starting point is 00:25:15 Would just come and sort this out for me Right And he was like no what do you want to do this And you want to do that okay Cool Yeah I don't want to do that though Can you do it
Starting point is 00:25:23 I didn't say that though Because I don't know well enough Diatimacious I don't know them well enough So that's got Is it pound for pound What is it pound for pound If I went in test scores
Starting point is 00:25:33 And it said how much per kilogram this was It's a tenor for a kilo Oh Cheap than gold You'll be getting some won't you I think I think it'd be very because I've obviously got dogs and a child and I do
Starting point is 00:25:44 I have used slug pellets in the past it'll fucking work so I just took to get into the big bucket and filling them with filling them up would you like to sprinkle some diatomaceous earth pad over those Reddit commenters Peter and watch their faces
Starting point is 00:26:00 and dehydrate them I'm not bother about the comments I'm not bother about the comments I'm only one angry dog Bruno's cackling at you know I might be you know I might be letting to people down because some of the criticism is
Starting point is 00:26:14 is Mattie I'm not going to go on it because I think Reddit's horrible and my experience is if I go on it people just back down anyway We've been very lucky as podcasters that not that many people have ever commented on us
Starting point is 00:26:27 Have ever listened Yeah have ever listened I've ever listened being a broadly unloved product This is a specific football one not the Luca Pitcher one
Starting point is 00:26:36 No I'm sure that I mean How do you even start commenting on this Why would people bother? They're always talking about this. Yeah, but you also talk about a lot of other stuff, don't we?
Starting point is 00:26:44 The guy from the show and newsletter, The Upshot. Yeah. It's very dirty, dirty boys. So the guy who runs that, he came in last week. Yeah. Came, ha ha, ha, dirty.
Starting point is 00:26:57 He loved that. He asked to come in, and he met me and Finn. Right. And he was absolutely raving about the Luke and Pete show. Right. He loves it.
Starting point is 00:27:05 So he's going to hear this. He's going to hear this. You slag him off. I've not slag him off. You said he's a dirty boy. Yeah, he's a dirty boy. It's a bit dirty, in it? It's all the best dirty stories.
Starting point is 00:27:13 All the sort of stuff that when we do a live show, we absolutely pepper the place with. I'm not going to name him because there's a few of them and you won't be able to identify him, but the geyser who came in, he's a father of a three-year-old as well. Is he? It's in the same situation as us, man.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Right, look, we're just grubby little, we've got a grubby little lives because we're constantly clearing out of poo out of nappies. How's the potty trying going for you? It's not going to happen, so you're going to, poo her pants until, she's 18 and she leaves her home. That's how I feel at the moment.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Is that seriously how you feel? Yeah, I don't know how. How long have you been trying to do it? About four months. Same. I don't know what I do, Luke. I don't know how many of each other. Mixed in with the getting up three times during the night.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Oh, is that happening as well? Yeah. We had it so sweet for so long and now it's... It bites you. You can't get complacent, can you? No. And the thing is... Make you smell fear.
Starting point is 00:28:06 The fear of being complacent is so acute that you can't even enjoy the good. nights because you're worried the whole time? I know. Yeah. Every time the house makes a noise. Oh, no! What you need is two really volatile boddaries running around and barking.
Starting point is 00:28:19 That's what you need. Do they wake her up? They, sometimes Lola will just, for some reason, just walk into her room. It's like, what you're doing? Is it a doork shut? It shuts, but you can just push it open.
Starting point is 00:28:31 Because we keep the cats in a different part of the house so they can't get to us at night. It's honestly, and also with baby gets, I've put the baby gates back in because she's free range now. And just that whole control system with dogs, them, me. You've got child gates in the house still?
Starting point is 00:28:49 No, because she's on the first level. And I need to stop her from half a sleep falling down the stairs or climbing up the stairs to get in our bed, basically. So she's got a route to the toilet if she needs it, but nothing else. But she still just stands at them on the stairs. Goddy. Oh, she goes, girls! Girls!
Starting point is 00:29:09 Is that? Is that what you say? In a broad, cockney accent. Giles! Is that what you say? What? Why is she saying that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:16 I presume she's heard it like trial runners or something. Giles! Man. 3 a.m. Nothing's a permanent, is it? It's just a phase, and everything's a phase.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Oh, fucking up, so, look. Well, I hope we've given a little bit more information to the people of Reddit of what you're dealing with every day. So hopefully there'll be a little bit more compassionate. Would you like him to be more compassionate? No.
Starting point is 00:29:33 No, as I said, all the criticism is just like, it's fine. I know what I am. Does it bother you? But I would say This has been an abhorrent display. I'm so sorry. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Let's get out of it. This has been Luca Pete Shaw. This should be on this one. This is the Lina Luke and Pete show. Pete, who's got a joke for everybody, Pat. he's he's we'll be back on on the next show um i mean whatever i say about football
Starting point is 00:30:13 it'll be anyone else here can't stand peter his radio DJ personality it's on there i'm sure he's a nice fun person to hang out with he's not and i cannot stand him sometimes on this show because he's when he's hosting he's an obnoxious DJ fine is that a new one i haven't seen that one it's a year ago it's the first one fine that's all right fine yeah You've grabbed me down, you bastards. Right, we'll be back next time. Dude, you give us an email. Oh, yeah, we haven't done any emails for a while.
Starting point is 00:30:42 No, we haven't. I should get on a case with that, actually. Bad DJ. Hello, at Luke and pietroo.com is the way to do that. We'll see you soon. Bye-bye. Fuck you all. The Luke and Pete Show is a stack production
