Starting point is 00:00:00 Oh, it's the Luca P. And Pete Johnnison, joined by Mr. Lukie Mo. It's a Thursday. And that means only 10 things. It's nearly the weekend. It's nearly sausage Friday, as I like to call it. Battered sausage Friday. Details important.
Starting point is 00:00:21 It's nearly, they're the only two things I'm thinking about, to be honest, on a Thursday. We're not recording this on a Thursday. So I'm not in the Thursday feelings. Clearly, I found that list of 10 too hard, that listical. Do you like, do you remember that advert with Crisp and Dr. dry, the food stays crisp and dry? Mama likes a nice card piece. That does not swim in grease.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Yeah, exactly that. Mama make a mean drumstick without no oil slick. Mama preaches that it's great, because it's low and saturates. Because with crisp and dry, the food tastes crisp and dry. I didn't remember the verse. The verse is very strong. I don't think it is problematic. Well, it's mixed in, when at school we used to sing,
Starting point is 00:01:01 is it, Daddy like shortening? Mommy like shortening? Mommy like shortening bread. We sang that quite a lot. And even then I was thinking, this is weird. Why are we singing this song? That's the song that Brian Wilson is obsessed with.
Starting point is 00:01:14 It was obsessed with, isn't it? Right, okay. Yeah, LSD killed his brain with LSD and then he was obsessed with shortening bread. There's talk of like he, because it's originally like a 19th century folk song. And there's talk of Brian Wilson, obviously, who was, you know,
Starting point is 00:01:31 rightly so, one of the greatest songwriters of all time. His star was very high in the 70s and that kind of good stuff. 60s and 70s. And he would obviously entertain guests of amazing repute in his house all the time. Obviously, he was obviously, sadly,
Starting point is 00:01:47 he'd obviously, you know... Losted minds with drugs. Yeah, I was thinking of a politically correct way to say it, but you've just lost his mind with drugs. Yeah. And so sometimes, I think he's never story, Iggy Pop told, of going around there and being really excited to go around there
Starting point is 00:02:00 and listen to his composition on the piano. He did like two hours of shortening bread. Even for me, that was a problem. Even for me, I'm pretty. I shat on the stage and starred myself with a bottle. That was too extreme from me. So I think Brian Wilson had a long affinity with shortening bread. He fixated on it quite a lot.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I see. So one of the other things you and Brow Wilson have got a common, Peter. It's like me and taking back Sundays make a damn sure, isn't it? I think a little bit, yeah. Or like me and this theme tune from CB. Hebees, Jojo and Grand Grand. I've never seen it. Endlessly in my head.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Never seen it. My son absolutely loves it. What's the, what's the, um, my daughter is obsessed with the Russian import, um, Masha and the Bear. Oh yeah, Mashron the Bear is great, though. It's a very, it's got, even in a period where we're apparently boycotting Russian exports. Yeah. There's no talking to her. There's no talking about sanctions.
Starting point is 00:02:53 It's not talking to. She is not interested in the geopolitical consequences of Eastern Europe. Even when a pro-China, uh, panda character turns up and they're very, uh, they're very, They're very talkative about how good China is. You're like, this is, this is all the step in line for me, Clyde. No, JoJo and Grandin is about a young girl who spends days with her grandmother. Right. And they all have adventures together and stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Nice. It's very sweet. If you are the caregiver of a small child, you should not be giving them fabulous adventures. You should be looking after them, all right? If we had any access to older people to look after our child, I don't want adventures. I just want I just want to keep it away from the stove That's what I want
Starting point is 00:03:35 My mom will take my son to the playground That's about it Yeah Yeah that's your limit That's your limit yeah exactly I was going to say to you as well That it's a complete coincidence I actually didn't realize this recently
Starting point is 00:03:45 That Jojo's father in the aforementioned program Is played by Ben Belly Smith There we go Lovely stuff I messaged him the other day Saying oh you're popping up on the old TV again mate It's a looking connection But it's not Andor this time
Starting point is 00:03:58 It's Jojo and Grand Grand Grands George and Grandin. Find you an actor that can do both. Exactly. Exactly. He can be in, he's at ease in space
Starting point is 00:04:06 or in a galaxy far away. Or in some kind of South London park. That's where it's basically set. It's one of those shows that also intersperses animation with real life. Violence. Like I'll tell you how we does. No, no, it's not,
Starting point is 00:04:24 it's not Clockwork Orange stuff. Oh, speaking of that, by the way. Speaking of the scariness of that, I had this kind of idea a while back that I would show my son the shows that when we were kids in the 80s like we liked and they're just all too frightening
Starting point is 00:04:41 they're all too they're all very odd I was talking about this yesterday the whole child and chocolate factory debacle but there's lots of ulysses bed knobs and brimsticks yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:04:51 there's just a lot of scary chitty bangbats got a child catcher in it yeah I can smell the child or the children all you've made a stern or stern of stuff back then We were. Or we, or they, I just think there was a lot more, uh, weird men around. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:05:04 I just think that, I just think that we, we've, the weird men have had to hide. And they don't have to leave the house to catch children now, I suppose, do they? But back then, it was analogue child catching, uh, for the, for the wrongans, isn't it? So I just think, what I like about that is, is that cheap, is that cheap, is that chit, is that's a chit, is that chitie-a-bondon-brose-stitchie. I can't remember one of them, I was getting both mixed up. Whichever one it is. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:23 I think it's bednops and bru-sticks, right. it but whichever one it is I kind of like the literally oh it's chitty chitty chitty bang man gone to Brunei right I went for one and got the other I like the kind of very straightforward obvious idea that they're writing the script for a family moving and need some way of scaring kids for a bit yeah child catcher child catcher yeah it's obvious yeah I mean it never says it never says what he does does that's strong um he never says what why he needs the children I mean, if it was something as, you know, I've got a lot of, like, trainers to soap.
Starting point is 00:06:00 You know what I mean? Fine. Like, I mean, I think that would be like, I still don't want to do it. I'm still scared of the child catcher. But I think we just needed a bit more backstory about what he was going to do with the kids, really, I suppose. Not, do we? I think so. Just a bit of perspective.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Are you sicking by that, are you? Because I'll tell you right now, Bruno, who's in the room with me is sickened by that statement. So I want you standing by that one, I know. We need to know more about what the child catchers' plans are. Bruno. Bruno needs a shot. bread by the sounds of things. Well, he's of the younger
Starting point is 00:06:26 generations, so he's obviously not as robust as He's probably closer to it, yeah, he's probably closer to fear. He's not growing up under the shadow of the Cold War, Pete. It's as simple as that. Exactly. No. He didn't worry about, you know, drinking water during Chernobyl, for crying out loud. He didn't. He also didn't have to hear people pronounce Chernobyl in that way.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Chernobyl? Chinobel. Chernobyl? Chewendoble. Hey, show some respect for the Northeasters. That bloody Chernobyl, I had I used to have one on them, and the doors fell off. Why can't you do a Joddy Ackson for I can't do nothing.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Because the people just go for a Johnny. We've lost it. We lost a fucking Johnny this morning or yesterday. The wrestler, the bastard pack. He died. The bastard. The bastard. He was just called the bastard.
Starting point is 00:07:07 The man who gravity forgot, which is a lovely, which is a lovely little title. But he was, he died at 40 yesterday. And he's one of the good ones and he was fucking good. Oh, he looks like Jimmy Nell. But he's, but he was, yeah, he died at 40. Day after he was wrestled, wrestled on the telly and everything. How do they die?
Starting point is 00:07:27 We don't know yet. So, you know, got to keep you, keep your powder dry. But no, I think, no, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:34 We just don't know. But it's just very sad because he just, he was a proper, and you can't see a night's spot. So I had a pay of affinity. And also, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:42 and not a good looking man like me. So I was like, yeah, he's my guy. And he's fucking good at his job. I think when it comes to, I think when it comes to aesthetic offerings, I mean,
Starting point is 00:07:51 you're just absolutely fine. Average. You're fine. Yeah. It's not bad. It shouldn't fix it. I think we're both just fine, aren't we? It's fine.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Yeah. Nothing that requires medical intervention. Managed to snare a mate. Exactly. Trick. Trick a mate. The maid catchers. We're just a couple of bait caches.
Starting point is 00:08:13 You've only got to trick one of them. There's about five billion of them in the world. She started a little in-cell sort of day gaming group. The lady catches. No, that sounds. too, good. The mate catchers. Look, misogynism is obviously terrible
Starting point is 00:08:27 and there's a scourge on society, needless to say, but I'll say it anyway. I'm not correctly on the word misogynism. To pre- Misogyny? I said misogyny, didn't they? No, he said misogynism. Okay. Misogyny. I'm so misogynistic
Starting point is 00:08:39 I don't know what the word for it is. Misogyny is a terrible thing. I want to preface what I'm about to say. So clearly the worst part of being in the in-cell community is just how misogynistic it is, clearly. The second worst thing for me is how
Starting point is 00:08:53 tragic it is. Yeah. You're not, you're not, you feel, what I don't, what I really struggle with, clearly because I'm not someone who's a target of it, is that you are so angry about this, yet you can't bring yourself to leave your bedroom.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Back in the day, at least protests, people would protest. They'd get out, come rain or shine, mostly shine, but they'd come out, and they'd actually actively participate, rather than just make the whole thing worse because they will not experience the real world. They, um, are we experiencing the real world?
Starting point is 00:09:29 I, I, I am every day. In our beautiful homes. I just went, I just went to Benfleet to pick up my keys that I lost. So they'd been handed in by somebody. I found him, yeah. I forgot this morning. I went, I went, hang on. I just remembered, I've put one of those tile locator things on my keys.
Starting point is 00:09:45 And turns out it was at Benfleet station. I was like, yay, the system works. Brilliant. This was, you losing your keys was great news for me because I've loved. long, I have long been an advocate of you not keeping all the keys on the same key ring. Yeah, yeah. There's two main reasons if you're in the one, because if you lose one, you lost all of them. And two, as was pointed out by a listener of ours, if you put that hefty key ring, keychain in the lock of your turret century, you're going to fuck the car lock up.
Starting point is 00:10:15 You said that before, but I've had it for like three. What's more likely to go of the power steering, the power steering pump? which I think might be next to go, or the, you know, $20 lock in my keys. It doesn't matter if you lost them, brother. It doesn't matter if I lost them. Doesn't matter if I lost them. They're no use to anyone, are they?
Starting point is 00:10:35 Is it true. Have you got a lockbox outside your house? What do you mean? Like a kind of... Look they have an Airbnb's just... Oh, no, no, no, no. I stayed in the caravan recently and they gave me the wrong bloody cord.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Twice. They gave me two chords, none of them worked. Annoying. So did the caravan on your own? No, my daughter. I just think I could probably replace the clock. The clock? the clock the lock
Starting point is 00:10:55 replace the lock and rather than worry about how many keys are on my key rings and you said separate the keys but I just like to know everything's in the same place it just means I'll just lose half of them instead of all of them I just think it's absolutely crazy I've got backups for everything
Starting point is 00:11:10 okay well that's good that's good but for me for example on a normal day like today I get up I leave the house I go to work go home again at no point am I even touching the car to why on earth I've taken my car keys all the way into central London and back again.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Because you might want to... I drive like a lot of places now. You probably don't drive as much as you because it's an ass to get out, isn't it? It's probably more involving kind of getting out and, you know, pottering around London because the traffic's just a bit more condensed. Would that be fair?
Starting point is 00:11:43 So you drive in... So when you come into the office, are you driving part of the way? Drive to the station sometimes. Oh, I've seen, okay. Well, in which case, you've got no choice. You got no choice. By the way, can I ask you about...
Starting point is 00:11:53 You know, right, there's two Bosch's, isn't there? The one who's the father of the boxer. Yeah. Who had a good win at the weekend, to be fair to him. I say a good win. A win. Right. And the other one who's more controversial. Mattress Man.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Tom Skinner. They want to eat some fries, they want to eat some roast dinners at like seven in the morning. Which you of all people should respect. Oh, I like eating odd things at odd times. Don't mind it. Do not mind. His big thing is he doesn't look when he pulls his gravy, does he?
Starting point is 00:12:23 What, it's a no-look gravy? Yeah. And as you know, I never look when I poured a gravy. Why? That's just this thing. Is that a thing? Is that a thing? But you're not going to get it over the things you want to get it over the top of?
Starting point is 00:12:35 Well, I think that's part of the, the part of the high-risk maneuver that he's attempting, I guess. Right. That's an idiot. Possibly. But anyway, what do you think about his mental health walks? I think we've touched on this before, but I think it's broadly fine, but then you look at the people were on it and they're all like I saw a guy when I went to pick up my thing from Benfleet um I saw a man in he's saying the same thing I saw a guy going to pick up his
Starting point is 00:13:02 keys from Benfleet yeah he's picked his keys up as well um and he and he um and he was wearing he was a young man quite slight in the face like me or what I used to be and uh gaunt uh unhealthy unhealthy uh and he uh he had a little he had a little sort of bugsy malone moustache you know like the you know the kids of bugsy milan ratty ratty My mind is ratty. A ratty spivy little moustache. And he was wearing a suit and he was wearing a fedora. Now we've spoken about how that's not...
Starting point is 00:13:33 We've spoken about how you may like the look, you may like to look tidy and you may like, you know, want to see people complimenting you. But you simply can't go the final hog and wear a fedora because you look like a wrongan. And I almost guarantee that guy was, you know, one of those Britain first obsessives. You know, those kind of like fellas who turn up on,
Starting point is 00:13:56 on these mental health walks, to be honest, these spivy-dressed weird men who spend a lot of time. At least they're leaving their bedroom, I suppose, aren't they? They're sort of going outside and hanging out with it. What was the point you were going to go on to make? I was just saying that a lot of the men there, it's a mixture of, like, dads in Gilles, and we'll come onto the Gilles in a minute.
Starting point is 00:14:13 I've got some Gileet news. Exciting. I know. And them, and then the sort of spivy, kind of online kind of right-wingers. I don't, you could just spot a mile off. I'm fascinated by it because I, on one hand... Go on, let's go on one.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Well, on one... I'm not going to Brentwoods. I'm not straight to where my father-in-law is. Without what we should disavialize a serious issue, my mental house is going to have to be pretty poor to go to Brentwood on a Sunday, I'm telling you that. Anyway, I am... What if there was a golf club there?
Starting point is 00:14:47 What if there's a golf course there? There probably is. Okay, I'm back around the table. Back around the table, yeah, good. Bolsh, goss some balls into the water. We are now in position to negotiate. I'm fascinated by it as a phenomenon because on one hand, a phenomenon, sorry, because it's unquestionably, in capital letters,
Starting point is 00:15:07 a good thing he's trying to do, right? Yeah. And part of me does think, well, because what happened is, is that he'll do it, and people will turn up, and clearly they want to turn up, and they feel like they want to get out
Starting point is 00:15:20 and have a bit of fresh air and chat to like-minded people. And if that was any other community, people would be applauding it, right? People would be saying great. If it was for women's equality or it's just a bunch of nerds who love fucking Warcraft or whatever, people go, great, you know, fine, no problem, all good.
Starting point is 00:15:37 So, you know, we have to be conscious and mindful of the fact that we can't just apply different rules because it's like young-ish, or just working class for the most part, men, white men. And, you know, you will get your screen roll. types who will jump on and take the piss out of it. I like the screen rock guys. I'm not kind of throwing shade at them. I like Jacob and Jake and
Starting point is 00:15:57 it's all good. But that's the kind of thing they would do because they don't piss up everyone. And part of me just thinks, you know, it's not really going to make men's mental health better to be deriding that stuff even if you disagree with the method, given that
Starting point is 00:16:13 they are the exact target audience for suicide, right? Right. Do you know what I mean? But at the same time I look at it and I go, what must the conversation be like. What are they talking about? I'd love to be there. I'd love to be involved. But it's the guy in the front. I wouldn't have a problem with a mental
Starting point is 00:16:29 health walk for, you know, lads. But he's, but yeah, but that's the problem, see, but you say that, but he's the only one. You separate the art from the artist, aren't you? I kind of am, but I'm also saying clearly you surely must agree that his profile means it's much more likely to be successful. Yeah, but
Starting point is 00:16:45 I'm sure he's not the only one and, you know, he's the only one who's filming it and put it. He did want to sell me a mattress. Yeah. I'm just saying that he's the only one, you know, putting it online and, uh, uh, uh, and filming it for, uh, you know, grab that boshy dollar. I don't know. Was it a good mattress? Is it the same geez? Is it the same it? It was fine, yeah. It's actually what buy a mattress get one free, which is pleasing. You don't, you don't, you don't need two mattress at a time, do you? Well, we have one of those beds, which was a single bed, but it had to pull out underneath. Right. Yeah, we did need to. Yeah, we've got in,
Starting point is 00:17:16 them. They're brilliant. They're great comfortable mattress. Most comfortable mattress we got on the house, man. And, and I will sell this for skin. And, He delivered it himself as well. There we go. Is it also the exact kind of lads that you play football with? Yes, in the main. Yeah, yeah. Oh, God, I played yesterday.
Starting point is 00:17:34 And their mental health must be much poorer since you started playing with them. I tell you what, it's quarter past 12 yesterday at the Len Forge Centre. The their... Great night. They're spun out. I don't know how Len Forges.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Who, Len Forges? I think he's a local man. But, but, yeah. Oh, that's where Pavs team played for a bit. There we go. His, uh, their spirits were down on the ground because, uh, we lost 10-0. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Did you play? Yep. I thought you were suspended. Uh, I think he put down as a yellow card. But I took, I took a week out anyway. But, um, you know, I'm back and, uh, yeah, just. So how did you lose 10-0? Talked me through it.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Let's in about five goals in the first half, six goals in the first half. You're in goal? Was for the first half, yeah. And then they wanted to change. And, uh, turns out I wasn't the problem. But the way you tell these stories with such frequency does make me think you are the problem. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Well, I'm the only one who says yes, clearly. I would say that to really put the cherry on the cake was as I was finishing up and shaking the opposition teams. Hans, who absolutely happened as 10-0, one of them went a UPete from the ramble, which really is just good stuff. That is lovely.
Starting point is 00:18:46 That is pleasing. Yeah, it is. Could you have done better with any of the goals? Honestly, maybe one. honestly they were all just you know I'm covering one part of my goal there's a defender on the on the far post
Starting point is 00:18:59 and he's not edited it I'm like well if you're on the far post I'm at least try and edit it you don't hear goalkeepers say that very often though no you really don't you shouldn't be blaming the person but it's just a lot there's just a lot of unmarked headers going in
Starting point is 00:19:13 I'm fine there was one who just hooked like a point blank range overhead kick I mean like what I'm meant to do with that I've put my hands up I was close to it I'm 5'8, Luke. Have you... I've got a heart monitor on. So, guys, our goalkeeper's 5'8 and he's got a heart monitor on.
Starting point is 00:19:33 That is the kind of inspirational pre-game chat you want, isn't it? Yeah. Little team talk, little team talk. How is the heart monitor going? I've got to go and get one of those again this week. Have you? We're all sort of in and out of just your little kind of... Just having to look around.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Yeah, fine. They're tiny nowadays. I didn't realize. Maybe because I'm going through Private Elf, care, they're smaller, but the last one was like a fucking ghetto blaster, but this one was like a tiny little, tiny little... Can't say that anymore, by the that's a cancelled phrase? Oh, of course, yes, it would be,
Starting point is 00:20:00 wouldn't it? You just like a car, stereo system or boom box or something like that? An estate wobbler. That's a good one, that's a lovely neutral version of it. I've got me a state wobbler on. Yeah, and so, well, maybe you've just burnt through all the other hardware they've got. Give them that one. Yeah, give them that one
Starting point is 00:20:15 for crying out. This'll find something for crying out loud. How's the asthma? It's still bad, but I upgraded my... I treated myself. I treated myself. to, I've got a very strong, I've got the strongest drugs that I don't like using, because I'm like, well, you know, it's, it's, it's, that's my top level. I can't, if I get,
Starting point is 00:20:31 if I get it's any worse than that, I can't, I can't, I can't know where they go, there's no, they got no head room. So, you know, I'll, you know, I'll, you know, I'll, I'll just fucking make me, you know, I'll go and, uh, if I'm feeling a bit tight, I'll go and lift some weights or have a little, have a little, have a little, bike ride or some of, um, but, uh, swimming, sad to seat.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I don't have access to swim I don't have access to A Lentford centre The aforementioned Go to Lendforge centre Well the completely dry Green Lentford centre Can you just jump in the sea?
Starting point is 00:21:01 You're jumping in the sea maybe yeah Maybe yeah I guess so But it's cold isn't it? It is called It's probably going to make the muscles contract Exactly No good
Starting point is 00:21:09 Although isn't it? I mean where I grew up Around this time of year It's maybe a little bit late for it now But probably a couple of weeks ago Was the key time To be swimming in the sea I just think if you're...
Starting point is 00:21:19 It's all summer to warm up. Yeah. I just do think that if you do of asthma and the one thing that asthma hits is cold air, you don't really want to be doing to see. Surely. And is to see around where you are, swimmerable or is it got this,
Starting point is 00:21:34 has it got the old... The toxic sludge? Yeah. No, no, they're all fine. I mean, broadly fine. You do look at some of them, you go, come on. But yeah, broadly fine.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Need a blue flag, don't they? Or is that an EU initiative? I don't know. Get rid of that muck. The blue flag was the Hallmark of Quality for the For the beach in the UK Back in the day
Starting point is 00:21:54 It might change now because of Brexit I'm anti-C to be honest I've Oh tell us more about that I spent my weekend Just slashing the boats Of the R&LI And the people are coming up as well
Starting point is 00:22:03 I thought you know Both of them And have a bit That big thing That big controversy happened in Gospel Where I grew up sadly Yes it did yeah It's interesting
Starting point is 00:22:12 I think the Dickheads You know It's not It's not working class to know, I don't call idiots, idiots. No.
Starting point is 00:22:21 But they're the idiots who are going off the Iron LR and LR. You are like, I think you might have misjudged that one. I think you've misjudged the pulse of the nation.
Starting point is 00:22:28 Well, what happened is they'll just get loads more donations and be more powerful than they've ever been before. I mean, you've truly lost your way if you are criticising
Starting point is 00:22:35 the RNLA. I totally agree with that. I mean, it's not on the bingo car for people who are being targeted by the anti-woke mob at the start of the year. No, probably not to be honest. But I text my mum
Starting point is 00:22:45 and she was like, my mom hates all that stuff. She was like, I'm so pleased I'm on holiday. Because I think, I think it's genuinely a stain on the reputation of,
Starting point is 00:22:55 a, let's be fair, a sub-average town already. And, yeah, it's very sinister, very sinister. It really is. It's pretty... It seems to now these sort of,
Starting point is 00:23:06 like, it would be an interesting kind of like mathematical or kind of, I know, social... I'd like to see the analysis on how these kind of ideas ferment and how they're kind of like
Starting point is 00:23:19 the answer is Facebook where they start which accounts start them where it goes how it gets interpreted when the AI boys get old of it like where does it all kind of I'd just like to see the tree you know shows where it all started
Starting point is 00:23:33 it's like fucking vaccine denials you know what are these sort of things kind of but all those people tend to be supportive of all these things don't they yeah they seem to they're the same people who would be you know doing this sort of anti-Rer and a lie stuff, doing,
Starting point is 00:23:47 would be the same people, I think, that would also be anti-vaxxas. For some reason, I think that's true. I think it stems from, those people would presumably argue
Starting point is 00:23:58 that there is a crossover because it stems from mistrust of government. Correct. But the anti-establishment, like kind of dead. Lot of the vaccine lot out this morning
Starting point is 00:24:08 because of the death of the rest I mentioned earlier on. It's like, I mean, like, it was six years ago. go now. Do you know what I mean? I've got less sympathy for the anti-vax mob
Starting point is 00:24:20 because they've directly imported that from America. Right, yeah. At least get your own beautiful British home home home conspiracy. Well people talk about, you know, like patriots, patriotism. It's like yeah, yeah, we never really talked about that before you got on the internet and, you know, watched your Charlie Kirkheads
Starting point is 00:24:35 and stuff. I also, I also truly don't know how the depths of people's stupidity can be fully explored when you see a bloke who's clearly on camera using a knife to slash a dinghy
Starting point is 00:24:48 of poor you know kind of defenseless kind of desperate people yeah and then he's literally caught doing it on camera
Starting point is 00:24:58 yeah that video goes around the internet and then the first thing he does when he dries himself off with the old towel and sits in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea at home
Starting point is 00:25:07 is saying oh I need some money in now to raise for the older for the old knives the knife bought no for the legal of the league that have stemmed from me obviously on camera slashing a dinghy with a knife that I took yeah and people go yeah all right yeah I don't know because because to me
Starting point is 00:25:26 the legal fund thing used to be it used to be one of two things as far as I can make out one it used to be for example the libel laws in this country are absolutely ridiculous and I will just run out of money if I don't get funding because these big conglomerates will just outspend me and that's that liable to work can't work, fine. The second one is, this is a miscarriage of justice and I need some help. Not, I've committed an obvious crime. So, do you mind bailing me out? Because I've got a job because I've spent all my time doing this shit. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Like, you know, and the way they frame the fundraising stuff is, um, the way they frame that Donnie Tom, Danny Tomo was, one was, um,
Starting point is 00:26:08 it was something like, you know, father, patriot, roofer. Ruther. Like he's roofer by trade. He's like, yeah, don't do any roofing. He's spending all his time fucking protesting. There's no roofs on the sea for crying out loud.
Starting point is 00:26:23 No roofs on any house in gospel because he's fucking doing this. So it's all very, but I've got people who I'm tangentially connected to, like people from down there who I've been friends with for a very long time
Starting point is 00:26:34 who I like personally and who I occasionally bump into in the pub, who I used to go to a lot of pompy games with, for example, who were getting caught up in this. Yeah. And so, and then they're not, you know, committing crimes, the extreme of that kind of thing,
Starting point is 00:26:48 but they're involved, you know, they might be attending said protest. And whenever I messaged them, it's funny, because I've got a few of them, I messaged them about stuff like a Pompey result or one of them will reply to me about a fucking ramble video that's gone around, done the round, or we'll talk about saying, we've got in common. And it replies, oh, straight back, reply straight away. Yeah. You message him about this.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I message it because I call them out. I'll call them out directly on DMs on say Instagram and say, this is bullshit. You're fucking better than this. Stop it. Yeah, yeah. And they don't reply. Nice.
Starting point is 00:27:22 So I think they can't know what they're probably bored of me, but they can't, they know what they're doing. Maybe they block you. But is it? Can I also throw another potentially mischievous theory out as to why people are like this? And it's one of two things.
Starting point is 00:27:36 It could be a bit of both. They've got no unifying thing to believe. in. So if you think back in the day, it'd be a Christian, you go to church, or you know, if you're a different part of the world, maybe you'd be a communist and you believe in that over, you know, you'd have an overarching thing that everyone had in common, a unifying idea. That's not there anymore. And secondly, I also think, mate, I'm not excusing it for this reason, but I think it's a factor. I think people are a bit bored. Yeah. People are a bit fucking bored of being on their phones all the time and I'd have nothing to do. And this is exciting. And I'm not
Starting point is 00:28:10 defending it, but it is unquestionably exciting. Doesn't mean it's good, but it can be exciting and not good. And I think it's exciting for people, don't you think? Yeah, I think so. Because it's just kind of, it's the same old shit, isn't it? Every day. You wake up, you read something horrific.
Starting point is 00:28:27 You go online, you fucking post- You hate your job, probably. Yeah, you go online, you put a picture of your breakfast on the fucking Instagram, and you're like, yeah, get a couple of legs, a couple of thumbs up. Don't look when you're born your gravy. Don't look when you're pouring your gravy. And it's just the same fucking
Starting point is 00:28:40 thing. I think the best thing I did was opt out of posting anything online, but the real fucking rot is me assuming at all without even having a right to reply. You're not going to start crying about Reddit again, are you? No. No, I'm not going to start crying about Reddit. A bit of an uptick in that, is there? I've not looked, but as I said on the show a couple of weeks ago, it was very appreciative that... A lot of people have rallied to your...
Starting point is 00:29:10 A lot of people have my back and it's very tight. Let's go. That's what you're, that's what you're, that's what you're, that's what you're, you're,
Starting point is 00:29:17 you're very pleased that little narrative you've come up with. That's me, you brought in the table. And you keep repeating it. I'll support you, mate.
Starting point is 00:29:25 It's not supporting you, to the day I die. It's not a mind. I'll support you into the fucking gates of hell himself, mate. I'll be right there behind you, Sam, he's an all right guy.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Right. All right. He's not perfect, but he doesn't deserve this. I'm back on board with, with the YouTube comments and stuff because there were some very funny comments
Starting point is 00:29:40 that Marcus being bad at Jackson's Sacrategor over the weekend. That's all you needed. A little distraction, isn't it? I'll tell you, no one was more disappointed than Marcus. I've never seen... Honestly, me and Jim were like, fucking, you know, Gary Licka, Paul Gascoe,
Starting point is 00:29:53 and he'd lost his head. You'll rarely see someone has crestfallen anywhere on the internet. And I really mean that. His head loss was so extreme. He'd forgotten what the word lateral means. I texted him over to, the weekend, so are you okay, mate?
Starting point is 00:30:09 And his reply meant I just didn't want to mention it on Monday show. I just couldn't bring it up. He had loads of stuff to get through. I'm not good. It's unfair. It's unfair. So I let him do his thing. It's the two sides of the same coin. I have no interest in it. And I am quite
Starting point is 00:30:27 hard to listen to on those games. And he's just really into the game. And he really bids himself up about it. And I've just that's why I'm not good at football. because you check out of it because you don't care about our listeners. Correct. I don't care about the listeners.
Starting point is 00:30:41 I just don't care about winning. The greatest narrative is me doing or care not terrible. That's the greatest narrative. I think everyone can really tell that you don't care about it, really, by the way that you spent weeks, presumably, in your grief apology cabin making a 3D model of me. Yeah. Specifically to use it on the game once.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Yeah, but that's an eventual voodoo doll, on it? I have to look at it right now with its brain literally falling out of his head. Where's the top of its head? I've not seen the top of his head for a little while. It's right there. Someone's found it and put it back. Oh, love it. Good stuff.
Starting point is 00:31:16 All right. It's the jeans and the hands I don't like. Let's get out of there. The hands were very much an afterthought. I was like, shit, I don't have any hands. So I did very quickly draft print up some hands. All right, then. We'll be back on Monday.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Look after yourselves. Take it easy. And if you are going to play whatever ramble game we've got for you, Tomorrow, stay safe and it doesn't matter all that much. Please don't worry, okay? Bye-bye. The Luke and Pete Show is a Stack production and part of the ACAST Creator Network.
