The funny thing is, the funny thing is, we continuously to see a trend of, I'm not like the other girls, but we're just, girls but we don't see trends or storylines related to I'm not like the other guys where men try to bring each other down the formulation of a pick-me culture in films and TV the other girl is defined as someone who fits the at-the-moment beauty standards

and is usually portrayed as the antagonist while the main character is completely different quirky awkward maybe likes to read doesn't care about fashion doesn't try but is pretty, etc., etc. The internalized misogyny as the basis of the plot of many films and TVs eventually normalize the illusion that to be loved and accepted, you should not be like the other girls. You should not like the things that other girls do to be different. And that being like the other girls by liking girly things, putting effort into hair and makeup, liking pink, God forbid. It's unoriginal, basic, and dull. In fact, I used to love pink, but I thought that was uncool.

The way these media influence does is being reflected in the trends on TikTok. Such as, introduce yourself as why other girls hate you. Maybe stop imagining that all the other girls are hating you. Literally no one has not much time to care. And it's not always about you and it's not always a competition. And I don't know why there feels like a need for competition. It's even worse when you're imagining yourself competing for male attention.

Like it's an absurd game of women hating on women where no one can win except for men. A game that many play without knowing that all this effort to be different, to be better than other women, originated from a deep cultural hazing of the idea that women need to appeal to men. What's wrong and not wrong with being a Picme Girl? Let's go over why the Picme Girls are made fun of by the internet. But before that, we can look at a very well-known example. Kendall Jenner. Um, I'm a weirdo.

I'm weird. I just feel like you guys bond so well because like you're super into makeup. And I'm obviously not as into makeup as you. Like I felt like you were bonding more with Kylie because she's like into makeup and stuff and I'm totally not I'm sure you guys can all attest to this I was like a huge tomb boy like couldn't really care less about fashion I do think that Kendall is genuine with a lot of facts about her but the percentage of authenticity with her claims is only known to her her is there anything wrong with being a pick-me girl fundamentally we are all pick-me girls and guys as human As humans and as social animals, we instinctively crave the validation from other people.

In other words, we all want to be picked. We all want to be accepted. However, the premise of why pick me girls are mocked by everyone else is that their attitudes toward other women's interests, mannerism, lifestyle choices, and hobbies feels inauthentic and is ultimately rooted in misogyny. I guess I'm just like not trying too hard to impress anyone. They have no problem putting other women down to gain male attention and validation, whether or not they know that's the intent. That's fine and dandy until the effect reverses.

To harm women where each and every move a girl makes is carefully analyzed and interpreted as either overly try hard, pretentious, or for the purpose of seeking male attention. Oh, you don't wear makeup and said that out loud? You're such a pygmy and trying to be different. Oh, you read? Oh my gosh, you're such a hypocrite and trying to play the smart different card. Oh, you play sports. You're so original and trying to be a cool bra girl. Do you see the problem here? When no one is the other girl. Traditionally, I'm not like the other girls meant not being super feminine and into traditionally

masculine things. But I mean, come on, it's 2022 and there is no norm for how to be a girl. Everyone is so different, so there is basically no real way to be like the other girls. It's hard being a girl. If you like Taylor Swift and drink pumpkin spice back in the 2010s, you are basic. If you enjoy video games and wear sweatshirts, you're a broke girl or e-girl trying to impress men. If you wake up at 5 a.m. drink a green smoothie and work out every day, you are a try-hard that girl. What the hell? Can women just enjoy something they do without being judged with all the negative assumptions associated with a stereotype?

Not all things have to do with male attention or attention at all. Which is why some girls genuinely don't feel like they fit into the stereotypes of the other girls category, because that category doesn't actually exist. Every other girl is as unique and as special as every unique individual. individual because what they like and what they do are actually things enjoyed by them. So in essence, none of us are like the other girls and it's okay to be different and be proud of it. But just don't rub it off in the wrong way by inferring that everyone else is inferior. That is annoying and we'll get picked on by the internet.

A girl can choose her lifestyle in a genuine fashion unrelated to the male gaze. Surprise, not everything is about man. It's good that our culture is giving scrutiny and identifying misogynistic actions to prevent a widespread of further misogynistic behaviors. But the over-analysation doesn't stop misogyny and actually harms women. The bottom line is girls and guys don't need to justify their interests and choices. Period. That's all for this video.
