Starting point is 00:00:00 The heaviest I waiting was 411 pounds. And now I'm skinnier than you haters. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, but revenge is a dish best serve cold. How did Nicocato avocado go from 411 pounds of Fat, boring, irrelevant, to skinny Nicholas Perry, two steps ahead? Two steps ahead. Two steps ahead. If there was one person gifted with an indestructible body, It must be nicakato avocado.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Not only can he inhale a stick of butter with a jar of wrench, a carton of milk, and six bags of ramen and a bag of blue tachis in one breath. Casually eats a two, excuse me, 20,000 calorie burger, and can swallow 10,000 calories of hot Cheetos, but he also made multi-millions. Oh my god, we're about to watch a show. It's called Watch the World's Struggle. Oh, I love watching poor people.
Starting point is 00:01:17 They struggle, oh. I just need popcorn. I could sit here and watch them struggle all day. Buy the penthouse. You guys, look at my living room. It's large and in charge. Cooking is for peasants. Then out of the blue gets 300 pounds lighter.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Never have I thought I'd make a video about Nicocato Avocado. But as your marketing bestie, who graduated top 1% UCLA business economics. With a background in marketing, whenever there is a shocking rebrand that all of you tag me in, I'm here to learn it with you. And share Stratory, I would advise if I were on Nicocato Avocados PR team.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Because even though Nicolato has been using some of the most manipulative and seemingly effective marketing strategies, skinny privilege can still fail you if you have a terrible brand. Because a brand is not about how you use yourself, but how your future college, future boss, future boyfriend sees you. That's the importance of brand. And yes, you have one. Now, if Nicukato has the potential, to come back from being one of the most hated internet personalities that he purposely cultivated, you yourself can create a killer brand. Let's first take a look at the counter example.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Nicocato 1.0. Let me tell you why, it's actually your thought. So let me break it down for the low IQs out there. Nicholas Perry is a true performer at heart. As someone who majored in violin performance in college and even freelance, as a violinist while working at Home Depot, the dream of playing in a Broadway orchestra was a dream to many, but reality to few.
Starting point is 00:03:15 However, the performance must go on, this time on YouTube. Exactly 10 years ago, Nicacado Avocado was born. The channel consisting vegan and lifestyle vlogs, as well as musical performances. The audience's response to these videos? Crickets. But fast forward to right before Nicocato 2.0, Nicacado has over 8.6
Starting point is 00:03:37 million followers across YouTube with over 2.5 billion views. The key? Audience Capture. Nick Kakato went from quiet vegan vlogs to the loudest macbomb videos. Where he eats a humanly impossible amount of food in one sitting, such as over 12 pounds, a panda express in little over 30 minutes. New followers begin to be drawn to the intensive of these videos.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Oh, I love cheese. Here we go. They were nice to me today. Where it became a spiral of how could he one up himself again and again. The question is, how much more can he eat? I mean, I gotta have OCD. You mean OBCD. How much more absurd can he get?
Starting point is 00:04:33 Oh my God. How much more will he sacrifice to get views? Sound familiar? His friend down the YouTube page, Mr. Beast, also faces this challenge. But in itself, shock marketing or shock advertising is effective with a caveat. The study Dell 2003 exposes that not by surprise, consumers are more likely to remember shocking advertising content over advertising content that is not shocking. And this tactic has been used as early as 1919,
Starting point is 00:05:05 where advertisers use blood, gore, disease, organs, or anything taboo to capture attention. For example, Calvin Klein's controversial advertisements in the mid-1990s, where teenage models, someone whom were as young as 15, were in campaigns that many considered as soft porn. That was exploitative, shocking, and suggestive. But other examples include CDC's tips from a former smoker and the Choose One campaign, showing children holding items that had either been banned or not banned in America. Arguably, when used ethically and with an intended purpose,
Starting point is 00:05:42 such as to reduce smoking or end gun violence, shock marketing could create a phenomenal impact. In other words, the views are merely a means to an end. But in the case of Nicocato and other sensationalist personalities, the shock itself is both the end and the brand. Papa John's Pizza! which creates a dilemma. Nicacado avocado was a prisoner in his own captured audience feedback loop. Obaba, Obama, Obama.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Where yes, the shock got views, but the only way to keep getting views is to be more shocking. Therefore, he created this whole persona of crying on camera being rude and abrasive and was damaging his reputation through dramas with other creators like Stephanie Sue, who accused Nicukato of quote unquote manipulating her, invading her privacy, and making her feel unsafe, and allegedly even took photos of her home security system without permission. You did take pictures behind my back and I didn't approve of those pictures. All in all, it is fair to say,
Starting point is 00:06:48 Nicukato Avocado was building a brand of attention without connection. People weren't following Nicukato the person, they were following him to see what kind of shocking thing he would do next. Worst, Nicocato purposely built up a shockingly rude, annoying, and even disturbing persona to get attention. Look at the mess you made! Look at this awful mess! So his entire brand was built on negative attention and was never taken seriously. A fat person. You though.
Starting point is 00:07:33 It seems like the only way that To create more shock, to get more attention is to eat more food or be more disturbing. Nicocato avocado pushed himself to a corner of branding crisis. You're not, bro, you're never started to eat everything. You've ruined my life. Until Nicocato 2.0. This has been the greatest social experiment from my entire life. I feel as if I'm monitoring ants on an ant farm and yet I've still managed to stay
Starting point is 00:08:14 two steps ahead of everyone. You know what I didn't know him? He had said that it was like he was just only doing it for like five more years and then he was going to have like all his money and just like retire. Basically as Nicukato told NBC News, quote, I have been strategically posting pre-recorded videos for two years on YouTube and TikTok and went from 411 pounds to 150. That's about 34 newborn children he lost you guys. And to be quote, two steps ahead. Nicukato hid his transformation by editing old videos so that they would appear recent and even shaved his head so people won't recognize him in public. No doubt, this was a shocker and was received mostly positively.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Quote, Nico woke up and literally said, let's prove everyone wrong. And actually did it. What a legend. Quote, he gained weight, became a multi-millioner lost weight, biggest comeback ever. Quote, he actually won. Congratulations, Nicukato and even becoming a fitness inspo for some. It is a genius marketing campaign for his merch, as his I identify as skinny, it's just waterweight merch, are now more on brand than ever, and not a surprise sold out.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Nicukato, in a sense, used shock marketing again for a drastic rebrand. Where, as part of Nicocato's two-year revenge, he is now perceived as a disciplined, smart, and sly. It's brilliant and it's dangerous. I feel as if I'm monitoring ants. But what's the real problem here? The fundamental issue with his previous brand was not his weight, but his problematic behaviors to get attention.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Repackaging dishwater from a thick bottle to a skinny one won't make a sell as Chanel number 5, okay? Ha ha! I've been tricking you guys all along. It was all a social experiment. gotcha. Okay, you still did bad things though. Like, okay, you played a character morally and objectively bad things as that character that negatively affected not only people in your life, but a whole demographic of people. Just because you say psych now doesn't mean those actions are no longer bad.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Although appearing to be a complete 180, Nicarata Avocado is merely using the same tactic. to get attention, only now with the additional layer of misinformation. By actively deceiving his followers in a supposed social experiment in which he monitored his viewers like quote-unquote ants on an ant farm. Nicocato is building a brand of not just shock now, but also deception. Quote, this is like seeing a character you thought died in season one and season eight being the secret villain this whole time. Quote, this feels almost not real. He managed to play us like a violin.
Starting point is 00:11:10 This redemption arc feels surreal. So much so now that the brand of the sea is making people question everything. Including if he really pre-recorded his videos and took two years to lose weight, or did he also pre-record his skinny videos. For example, this video of his old self showing the milk expiry date in 23 instead of two years ago, where people are now guessing if he was on OZZ. or that the number has been edited to be April fools. Shit, yes, see this double shit?
Starting point is 00:11:41 Yes, I acted this out for five years in a row. For what? For clicks? We've all been played by this evil genius. Oh my god. All we know, proving two things. First, Nukukato's so-called social experiment was right. In a sense, his overconsumption that people were so grossed out by
Starting point is 00:11:58 and laughing at him for is an exact mirror to the overconsumption of social media that we all are, all are guilty of, where people are over obsessing over the made-up dramas on the internet as an escapism to their own lives. Millions! Y'all have the IQs of a bag of rocks. I can literally dye my hair blue and say it's always been blue and half, y'all will believe it. Yes, because I just acted gaining 250 pounds. Who in their right mind does a social experiment gaining 250 pounds for five years in a row? Y'all are so stupid! Second, although served his sweet revenge in hopes of building a brand of respect again
Starting point is 00:12:41 with this whole act of, I'm superior than you because I'm always two steps ahead of you complex. Nicocato is missing one key element in his rebrand, a brand of trust. Don't believe everything you're told, including from me! Yes, you can always get more attention by letting people wonder if you're lying to them again, but that type of relevance will fatigue really quickly and be forgotten. And Nicocato will be back to the old grind of what more egregious things can I do next to shock the internet to pay attention to me again. Shoot you. This is for you, little gnass.
Starting point is 00:13:16 You call me king and who are you peasant? King peasant. It's merely repackaging the shock and entertainment into a smaller size, not a rebrand. On top of which, there's a bigger problem. Who are Nicocato Avocado's old audiences? They're not there to see. see him flaunting his skinny body, which means while not building a trusty new brand yet, he is also losing his old core audience, the audience who he glorified and commodified obesity
Starting point is 00:13:46 to, to gain relevance from shock. But relevance comes and goes. Trust is what builds a real audience. There's a difference between people going to a zoo to see a monkey versus going to a concert to see their queen, Beyonce. Both are attention, both are entertainment. But the difference is in the connection. Sooner or later, just like his pre-weight-loss days,
Starting point is 00:14:17 the audience would fatigue and forget about Skinny Nicholas. And to be honest, if you look at the comments right now, they kind of aren't already over it. After seeing back to, back to back to back to back videos of him flaunting his weight loss results. I am real. I'm not a clone. Quote, okay, we get it.
Starting point is 00:14:36 The prior grotesque and obese Nicocato was almost a character he created with his own flesh that became commodified. So what will he do now that he killed this character? But still needs to continue shocking the internet. Well, here are a few potential branding directions that could work for Nicocato 2.0. Because what Nicokato wants is attention for revenge, but what he needs is a brand of respect that will last. First, this drastic social experiment reveal is the perfect opportunity to brand launch into a different direction. Yes, he genuinely loves eating food, which is an awesome, authentic connection point with the foodie audience, but to layer on top of that.
Starting point is 00:15:22 As we now perceive him as this slight and smarter, two steps ahead guy, I'm sure many of his new potential followers gained from this recent media attention, would love to hear his take on topics including psychology, sociology, and even make media commentaries during his macbun. Use the intellect to attract connection instead of making a rude scene to create shock for attention. Second, no doubt is Nicukato a natural performer, especially with this new villain persona he's trying to create. So I am the villain. Doing a story time series over his macbun or even a podcast would crush it and would really help build trust as people get to know about the real him.
Starting point is 00:16:04 This clip of Nicocato on his second channel saying he doesn't know if people even like him. I don't even know if people like me. It's so raw and genuine. Because who doesn't want to be liked and accepted? It really humanizes him and helps remove all the negative labels people held over his own made-up character that is overly dramatized. So it would be good to differentiate the Nicocato character from the Nicholas Perry brand and nurture real connection with Nicholas Perry. Third, anytime with a drastic rebrand, there's an expected shift in audience,
Starting point is 00:16:39 meaning Nicogato's audiences will no longer just be people who feel entertained by watching someone dangerously obese eating himself to death. And if there's a big question left unanswered, is how he lost that weight and what happened on his health journey. Even though Nicogato's brand is not about being a little angel and helping people, or he refers to as ants, I feel as if I'm monitoring ants. The only way to build trust in a brand is value-giving.
Starting point is 00:17:11 And sharing the lessons from his wellness transformation is just one of many ways to attract a new audience who aren't just there to watch him suffer. With that, Nick Cotto is undoubtedly smart and has a great opportunity for a lasting rebrand, but needs to make it clear through consistent action that despite being 300 pounds lighter, he is no longer just chasing views for the sake of views, and that his brand provides some form of value in addition to shock. Let me know what you think is Nicocato Avocados new brand. This is your marketing bestie, Zoe Unlimited.
