How many influencers does it?
take to create a brand.
All those people who said I couldn't make it.
Well, fuck you.
I did.
Now we have so many delicious flavors and they are the perfect thing to incorporate in your routine.
You ask and you shall receive.
You ask and you shall receive.
I have one question.
How much do they pay you to promote this?
How much do they pay you to promote this?
There are several unsolved mysteries in the universe.
Why avocados go bad?
The carers go bad the minute you buy them, the Zodiac Killer, and that Bloom is still in business.
This is so cringe. Guilty.
That was an ad, by the way, and so was this.
Don't look out me.
What? What?
Is that nice?
Yeah, I think you need to do it again.
And this and this.
If you're still confused by now, allow me to introduce you to Bloom.
If you've never been on a small app called TikTok,
Good for you.
It will almost be a Christmas miracle if you're a girl who had the app for over two months
that the Bloom ads have not yet found their ways to you.
Their marketing team must be missing their KPI's because chances are you've seen it,
but you just don't know you've seen it.
So if almost all the top influencers or just every influencer under the sun has promoted Bloom,
this dietary supplement brand created by surprise surprise an influencer.
And it seems like they are hitting every major retail like Target Walmart, Amazon,
Why is Bloom doomed for gloom?
Not only doom, but multi-million dollars of losses.
And that's exactly what we will uncover today.
And spoiler, I actually discovered a huge secret that made me realize
it's not only going to be a few million dollars of losses,
but potentially many fraudulent suits that they will lose.
Because underneath the green goodness
and your entire FYP drinking this delicious cup of substance,
some things aren't too fresh.
or tasteful after all.
Like how Amazon once removed their bestseller greens
due to false ingredients, fake reviews, and many more.
I mean, I've seen some questionable things on Amazon
and if you can get kicked off of that,
trust me, it's only going to get juicier.
No pun intended.
But not only that, as your marketing bestie,
congratulated top 1% UCLA business economics.
With the background in marketing,
we will explore how just like a product, we all have a brand.
And it's not as simple as getting the hottest influencers or cutest packaging to save you from Doom.
Because branding is not about how you see yourself.
It's how your future college, future job, future boyfriend sees you.
And I'm creating the series to mostly analyze pop culture girl icons from a marketing perspective.
Because many of whom do not recognize the power of influence they have over a generation
of young girls.
But guess who else has influence over our girlhead?
Brands like Bloom that specifically target women.
And despite the many screaming rough legs about this brand,
I believe in second chances.
So we will also talk about a few potential ways to help save them
from this projected doom.
First, what is Bloom?
So Bloom legitimately asked me,
oh, I remember.
If you go on Crunch Base,
you can see that Bloom was founded in 2019,
by influencer Mari Luwalen, who tells the story of how she lost 70 pounds,
transform her life, and started Bloom.
And just as I thought things couldn't get more interesting,
I realized that I watched some of Mari's videos back when I was trying to lose my PCOS freshman 30 from UCLA.
And this will be a big, important piece of the puzzle later.
If you go on Bloom's website, they have a variety of healthy-looking supplements
that come in colors like green, but also pink, purple.
and mint, totally not resembling artificial foods.
Flavors so organic and intrinsic to what you would consider to be healthy,
but what they're really known for, or their bestsellers, is their greens and superfoods.
Quote,
Meet your daily scoop of gut health goodness, made with 30 plus good for you ingredients.
Greens help relieve bloat, support digestion, and promote energy in the most delicious way.
Whoa, that's quite a bit of benefits here, but not only is there no third-party testing on the ingredients,
but it's also not FDA approved. Absolutely credible.
For best results, you need to use them every single day.
According to Bloom, their mission is, quote, bloom into your best self.
But is it really bloom into your best self or bloom into our cash cow?
A small jar of 5.97 ounce is $39.99.
And if you want a prolonged healthy life, because why would you want to jeopardize your health by limiting it only at 5 ounce,
you can get a slightly larger jar at $80.
Which, I don't know about your standards, but it's not cheap.
$80 can get you a good amount of groceries than fresh greens.
Surely, Bloom must be so much more superior than fresh greens, right?
We'll get to the science of that in a moment.
But the ultimate question is, who is buying $80 worth a green?
powder and that's a question that keeps me out bed night.
I've drinking this much in like an hour because I just can't do it.
Because every single bloom I see on my 4-U page is from the hashtag bloom partner.
Okay, so, which makes me wonder if you are paying people to drink your bloom goodness,
double jab and then come up with the cross,
psh-bh-bh-rake your guard,
come with the cross right there, you're done.
How are you still in business?
Before we dig into some corporate secrets, we need to first take a look at where their marketing money is going.
And frankly, being a Bloom influencer should be the top dream job out there.
You'll see why in a second.
Sure, you have your regular influencer ad.
A girl who is white and thin opens up a jar, makes a bloom drink, drinks it, makes a satisfying face.
Mmm, truly a health-driven, delicious option.
It's good!
This stuff genuinely tastes so good.
This stuff is genuinely going to change your life.
Both of which are up to debate.
And then you have an interesting niche of content called
Can You Spot the Bloom?
Meaning, the video is not even about Bloom.
In fact, you might not even see the bloom.
Let's watch this one.
Okay, so she's making someone's wedding day earrings.
So this is like an arts and crafts video.
But wait for it.
Oh, is that a bloom in the back?
Careful, you might have.
you might have missed it but that's okay back to the earrings and bam 26 seconds in there's a bloom again
look i actually like yelana's content and i like that she actually put the paid
partnerships label on it because not everybody does all right next one it's claus vlog i see there's a
bloom but wait for it i wish i was patrick star great aspirational i'm going home i'm home i'm going to bed
Wait, so all she did was to pull the package out of a jar and did not even open it.
Which makes me think, is Bloom really that bad that they can't even pay people to drink it?
Get ready with me for my logic class.
The logic is really logicing.
And it's amazing how she got 9 out of 10 on her homework,
but clearly adding a pay partnerships label was not part of the assignment.
Alright, next one.
This is making me think that her agony was going to be
caused by Bloom.
Alright, this one is really good.
All right, whatever.
Do what you do.
Cool.
Cool.
Bro.
Sis.
Yo, look, I'ma be good.
And I'm gonna be better.
I'm gonna be very better.
Okay.
All right, say less.
And that's what said.
I don't blame you if you missed it, but did you see the bloom in the beginning?
And at this point, it's a scientific miracle if any of the Bloom
Influeners turn on the pay partnerships label.
Bloom seems to be doing so well.
well that they will pay anyone just to have their package in the video.
Is it not weird as a company that sells products?
They don't care about driving sales at all.
It's very awareness rather than conversion-focused marketing.
So where is the money really coming from?
Before we reveal the shocking information I found about Bloom,
there's something else that might shock you more,
brought to you by our sponsor, ORA.
If you do a Google search of your name or anything,
email, you might be surprised by what comes up. I never thought my data will be leaked until I realized I was one of the 73 million AT&T customer records leaked.
My information is somewhere out there in the dark web and I still get the most annoying spam calls all the time.
And that's why I've been using ORA to show me which data brokers are selling my information and let it automatically submit opt out requests for me.
As for AT&T, they recommend those affected by their data leak to use strong passwords, monitor account activity,
and consider credit freezes or fraud alerts from credit bureaus.
Well, ORA does all this for me too.
I don't have to download several different apps just because a company wouldn't keep my data secure.
I value my privacy and I value yours.

Let's get back to my big discovery of bloom.
And what shocked me more is that their website traffic is growing at 282.77%.
Yay!
But 83% of the visit is from Vietnam.
Um, excuse me, what?
Last time I checked, they only sell to the U.S. and Canada,
which right now is only at 12% and 0% of their website traffic.
Both of which have been declining in the past month,
which means Bloom is actually losing sales.
We will talk about their investors in a bit,
but if Bloom leverage their website traffic in getting funding,
while inflating that with traffic that won't lead to sales,
this could be seen as fraud and be the end of them.
It's either that their marketing team really does not know they want to sell to US and Canada,
or they are artificially inflating their website traffic through other means.
Plus, the lack of paid partnership disclosure could also get them into big trouble.
First, this could put them and the influencers in jeopardy in violation of FTC
that could result in over tens of millions of dollars of loss.
of dollars of losses. And just as important, as a brand that sells things for people to put into
their bodies, the number one asset they need to invest in is building trust with their customers
through marketing. And they are doing the exact opposite with deceptive marketing practices
and sneaking their ads. I know the influence, I know the impact and I know the vibe and the
girlies love the vibes and that's just what it's about. This is a mistake that could cause them just as many
millions in lost sales dollars as in lawsuit that could put them out of business.
Speaking of business, let's do a little corporate investigation here, which gets even
juicier than their influencer marketing.
The second surprising piece of information I found is that even though they have been spending
so much money on influencers spamming your for you page with their green drinks, they did not
raise funding until January this year with three investors. Before we talk about this,
these investors, it is just shocking how they made it work for five years without outside funding.
And we will uncover later how they potentially generated so much cash while bleeding money
through aggressive TikTok influencer ads that are targeting people who are outside of the country.
Okay, so who are the daddies or investors of bloom?
Nutra Bolt.
A dietary health supplement distributor and seller, they do energy drinks.
Clayton Christopher.
Founder and former CEO of Sweet Leaf Tea Company, which is very sweet indeed,
and currently the CEO of Deep Eddie Vodka and has investments in other beverages.
Amberstone Ventures, also an investor in beverages.
So it seems to me that all these investors have one common interest,
from energy drinks to vodka to coffee, beverages.
And if we start viewing bloom from the angle of beverages
instead of this miracle healthy juice that magically gives you abs
things might start to click for how they're so successful
because for all the expensive ingredients that will make them a health and wellness product
how much of it is actually in there well for every one scoop that costs a dollar and 33 cents
you get two grams of fiber two grams that's 7% of the suggested daily value that they even put on the top
Health and wellness on a budget, we love to see it.
You only need to take 14.2 scoops, which is almost half the jar, to hit your fiber goal,
aka $20.
No matter how expensive your grocery store is, I'm pretty sure you can buy a good amount of fresh greens with that money.
Remember how I said their marketing strategy is very awareness-focused in appearing in everyone's videos?
Well, what exactly are they trying to make people aware of?
I think it tastes like chocolate and I usually just chug it.
I'm gonna come back in like 30 minutes or so and we'll see what's going on.
Here is after.
If you could get sort of that extra bloating.
Yeah, I think it works.
And that's where their true appeal clicks.
Quote, blooming looks good on you.
It's all about the looks.
Which is why most bloom influencers are white, skinny with amazing bodies
that they had before drinking bloom,
but it gives you the false illusion that that
would be the result.
But there could actually be potential reverse effects.
Despite their claims of no artificial flavoring,
the fine print of other ingredients includes artificial flavors,
guargum, xanum gum, and asosophane potassium,
which are shown through research to increase intestinal permeability,
also known as a leaky or inflamed gut.
Like all things health, there is no quick fix.
When I struggled with PCOS and weight gain, I found the founder, Mari's journey, inspiring
and how she fell in love with fitness and wellness that transformed her life.
But one key message that got lost is that looks should not be the primary driver of taking care of your health.
It is always the byproduct. But from the Brandi and Bloom and its Bloom ambassadors,
so over the i just like i literally don't want to get glam okay so don't glam
and this whole or you won't film without glam oh no i'm not filming without glam
the appeal of bloom has turned completely into an aesthetic rather than the core of actually helping
people improve their lives and the mind-boggling thing is health and wellness is not just for women
heck men strive to be healthy too i'm gonna turn my first jelly straw so i guess you just lurp it up
But you can see that Bloom's marketing is heavily targeted towards women.
Not so that we could do some extra reps at the gym to gain muscles,
but because as girls, we are just more vulnerable to anything position to make us look good.
Which there is nothing wrong with.
No one wants to be ugly.
But does Bloom actually live up to the fantasy itself?
Well, Bloom does not provide third-party testing results on ingredients and is not FDA approved.
This means there are no proven results that this powder actually works.
But if the claim benefits are not tested,
why would you still position yourself as a health product
rather than just an average beverage company?
Simple.
You can sell at a higher price.
Just like how water at Air One can sell for $25.
The price reflects more of a marketing fantasy
rather than what's actually in the product.
Because sure, you can have all these expensive ingredients listed
like Golgiberry,
and root extract, but how much of each is in this blend.
And perhaps that's what helped Bloom survive all five years of paying influencers to drink their products.
Because for the people who do buy, the profit margins on these $80 tubs could be extremely high
if they only put milligrams of milligrams of the good stuff that will get you the aesthetic dream body they sell.
But anything that burns trust as a quick cash grab cannot last as a brand.
With a product that people don't like and won't buy again,
benefits that aren't substantiated, subpar, and somewhat annoying influencer marketing,
suspicious traffic that aren't even driving sales,
potential lawsuits around lack of fair advertising,
and most of all, a lack of branding of trust.
Bloom is destined for doom.
So what are some things they need to do ASAP to avoid bankruptcy and investors pulling out?
Four major changes.
First, they need to work on the product, period.
If you have a product that tastes so terrible and have potentially harmful additives
that completely counter your entire brand mission, your roof will be on fire soon.
Clean out the ingredients and make it taste good so that the people you pay don't look like they're in pain when they drink it.
Second, they need to learn how to under-promise and over-deliver.
Instead of promising the moons and stars while doing very little,
Bloom alone is not going to help someone lose 70 pounds like Mari or look like Alex Earle.
Third, FTC. It's not that hard to require your influencers to turn on the paid partnerships label.
It saves them from lawsuits and it saves you from lawsuits.
Fourth, work with people who actually enjoy the product,
which is hard when you have a product that tastes so bad that food creators are gagging on.
Which leads back to step one. You gotta have a solid product.
something worthwhile to offer to others before calling yourself a brand.
There is a difference between just another thing you regret buying versus a brand you rate for.
With that, I think Bloom has quite a bit of emergency work to do.
But again, a brand for a product or a person cannot be built in just a few days.
It takes years of trust and value-giving to make something a household name.
Instead of something, people want to swirl away from.
when people want to buy the product even without being tricked to watch 30 Bloom videos
without the partnerships label turned on, that's when you know you got a brand.
Let me know your thoughts on if you think Bloom still has hope before it's doom.
