is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
That's one.
That's one, Maddie.
Now, I don't know what it is still.
It's definitely two.
Hit it.
That's two.
Your decision.
Jonathan, do you know what it is?
No, not at all.
Okay.
Two's good.
All right.
Can I take three guesses?
Sure.
And as long as I'm, tell me if I'm running this first one.
Sure, why not?
Astros are changing hitting coaches.
That's correct.
Yes.
Well, with one hitting coach.
Ooh.
The Astros are parting ways with hitting coach
Alex Centron.
Sources tell the athletic, says Chandler Rome.
More changes are expected on Houston's coaching staff.
So everyone who's complained about Alex Centrone,
your long national nightmare is over.
The offense will be number one in baseball next year.
Isn't that a good feeling hit for Matt?
Yes.
I think I said I would.
We both did.
I think we both said.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It felt like it was trending in that direction.
Dana Brown had.
said publicly that they would like a change in their approach.
And we'll see what happens from here.
But Alex Entrone, who has been here in Houston since 2019,
signed a three-year contract after the 2022 season.
Contract was done.
And I don't see anything about Troy Snitker and whether or not,
but I believe his contract was up as well.
So I don't see anything about Troy Snitker in this article from Chandler-Rome of the
athletic, but first on the scene.
Alex Centron no longer the major league hitting coach for your Houston Ashton.
Now, you have said this, and it was wise on your part to say this.
You had said, hey, there have been a lot of players in that clubhouse that said they are team Alexintron.
And my retort back to you was, it doesn't really matter that the player's endorsement only carries so much weight.
And this will be yet another example of why players may say one thing, but for.
front offices, coaching stabs, and ownership say other things.
Yeah, and it seemed like the writing was much more on the wall when, I mean, Dana Brown was speaking publicly, talking about issues with the team approach.
And I think Joe spotted said the same thing, too.
And that's when it felt like certainly there was going to be a change made.
Well, I'll put it this way.
If you were in a situation where you were wigging out about whether or not the manager or the general manager or both were going to come back, it wasn't just going to be, let's bring everybody back and let's run it back.
There was no, there was going to have to be some sort of
All guys. Yeah. And yeah.
Hitting coaches, man, this is awfully
clicheish, but it sounds like they're hired to be fired.
Yeah, I would say, I mean, yeah, it happened. The Rangers
fired their hitting coaches. You've had some other hitting coaches
changed recently. I think the Yankees changed. They had a new guy this year,
maybe within the last two years. It happens.
Yeah. I would be consistent. The players
have to perform at the major league level, no matter who the hitting coach is.
Yeah. The reality is,
I don't expect this team to all of a sudden be a top,
ferocious top five team offensively, unless again the free agency.
Look, Kevin Durant's going to make the Rockets offense a better offense than it was a year ago.
Because Kevin Durant's a better player.
Yes.
And we'll see what happens.
No disrespect to Dylan Brooks, but Kevin Durant's a better player than Dylan Brooks is.
I'll be interested to see what happens.
It'll be funny if Yoron's back and Paine is healthy and ESUk Paredes is back and the offense is really good.
And then everybody's going to be like, see, told you so it's all about the hitting coaches.
Well, yeah, a lot of those guys are missing time last year.
And guess what, Alex Entron is going to be really mad.
because he's like, man, I didn't get a full roster.
Exactly.
It's a tough situation for him,
but the offense, of course, wasn't up to par,
certainly not with runners in scoring position.
And guys who like to be aggressive up there,
the Jose Al-Tuvres, the Yiner Diaz's of the world,
and not working counts,
especially after ESOC Paredes went down.
It was a problem.
Yep.
Yeah, this is zero surprise.
Now, does snicker get to keep his job?
Well, they, you know, I don't know how many of the,
30 teams have tandem hitting coaches?
I don't know either.
I think I look, because we did hitting coach, believe it or not, the day.
Yeah, we did. Yeah, we did.
I'll have to go look it up.
I think I went to basically every, oh, that's right.
There was this one page.
Sweet.
Yeah, most places have a hitting coach and an assistant hitting coach.
I mean, I understand, but I never got the impression that Snickr and Centron were assistants.
Me either. I think it was a tandem.
The baseball reference page lists Central.
as the hitting coach and Troy Snicker as the assistant.
I would say they're kind of co-hitting coaches.
All right.
But most everybody's got at least two, three people named.
Yeah, I mean, the roster's too big to have just one guy focusing on that.
So that doesn't surprise.
All right, so Astro fans, you got your wish.
Yes.
Now, many of you didn't even know who Alex Entron was,
so this will be kind of a little bit of an exercise
and get to know your former hitting coach.
What I'm doing, believe it on Alex Entron.
We're just not, you know, that wouldn't be very polite.
No, it wouldn't.
Although we do dead people all the time.
Somebody said I hear they're replacing them with a bunting coordinator.
We got to move runners, guys.
I feel very confident telling you that we're not going to see a 40% jump in buntz next year.
That's what some fans would like to see.
Detroit's been doing a fair amount of bunting in this series.
But part of the reason why is Detroit's offense not very good.
Detroit's offense for two months has been garbage.
I don't know how they put up eight runs yesterday.
It's stunning because they don't have much sock in their lineup.
Yeah, was it them to put up nine or something?
It was supposed to be the most in a playoff game for them since like 1968.
Oh, yeah.
68 Tigers, they won the World Series, by the way.
Oh, they did?
Look at you.
Double-day Thomas over here.
Better than call me Abner.
What's the rest of?
We have the news at noon theme.
We're going to go with us the rest of the way.
I mean, this is kind of the news at noon.
Yeah, it is a news of noon.
I was hoping to hear some.
There it is.
This is big news.
I'll be interested to see how Jose
Al Tuvae. If
he gets a new offensive philosophy
start taking a bunch of pitches.
And again, Jose Altuve,
Carlos Correa, you can pick
probably a handful of other players. They're like, man,
we are Team Centron. At the
major league level, it does not matter.
Somebody had to be a fall guy, and Alex
Centron is the first casualty of that said list.
You only had four guys. Well, let's put
Cam Smith in there. You got 5-493
plate appearances. These are your top
five plate appearances guy. Al-Tube, disappoint.
Walker, disappointment,
Yanor Diaz, disappointment,
Jeremy Pena had a career year.
And then Cam Smith,
overall, was a disappointment.
I mean, he just was.
I know he wore it down on all that type of stuff,
but you OPS 671, OPS Plus an 87,
that's a disappointment.
So for your top five plate appearance guys
were disappointments, but also, of course,
Gisac Paredes was great, he was hurt,
Yordon was great, he was hurt,
Carlos Correa was great,
and he didn't come until late in the season.
I got one for you, all right,
so if we're ready to make changes,
and I don't think this will be the only one,
Are we going to get a Chandler's breaking news sounder in the next couple days?
Maybe a week or so about the medical staff being completely overhaul.
I would imagine.
That's what I kind of thought it might be.
Yeah, it says, in fact, Chandler's stories as the Astros are parting ways with hitting coach Alexintron and more changes are expected on Houston's coaching staff.
Yes.
I said that.
Oh, I did.
Okay.
I was listening.
I just want to repeat things.
Appreciate that.
When you have co-anchors, you sometimes like they're real.
Yeah, that's fine.
Reiterate, yeah. Emphasize, if you will.
All right, what else you got?
Oh, we're still doing the news at noon?
Sure. I thought that was the news at noon.
Elsewhere on the news at noon,
the Yankees lose.
Actually, can we play that?
Here is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. noted Yankees hater.
I mean, he hates the Yankees.
You could tell.
After the game, yeah, go ahead and play this, Jonathan, if you have it.
Yankee lose.
Let's go, baby, let's go
Let's go
Hey, wait, let's do it again
Dad
Jack is loose
He really enjoyed himself, isn't he?
Yeah
He was
That was Vladdy Jr.
And, of course, Big Pappy.
Yeah, Big Pappy
David Ortiz.
I love him.
That was Vlad Guerrera Jr. who started it.
He's the first one to say it.
Yeah.
And David Ortiz, like, let's do it one more time.
Is he really upset because maybe he didn't get the
money he may have wanted from the Yankees?
I don't think so.
He just seems to hate the Yankees.
There's like quotes floating around and talking about him
never wanting to play for New York.
He's pimping these home runs big time that he's been hitting in the Yankees.
Did you see the one where he was scoring, I think, was he sworn from second or from third?
He, like, full Pete Rose dove into home plate.
He hates the Yankees.
And he actually ran backwards on one of the home runs.
I hate to that, but I'm just saying.
He did cartwheels.
Yeah, he skipped his way from third base to home.
pulled down his pants like Randy Moss.
Oh, that is so
that is a disgusting act.
Yeah, it was funny.
By Randy Moss.
I think Joe Buck's like, why don't I say that?
Yeah, it's just a bit.
I think maybe from his vantage point,
he thought he actually took his hands off.
Which would have been disgusting.
Because nobody wants to see some bear ass out there.
No.
Not in Green Bay.
All right.
And Rossi, we've got the Rockets last night
knocking off the head of Utah.
Kevin Durant is a Houston rocket, folks.
How much of that game did you catch?
Miss his first three buckets.
but then did not miss after that.
7 to 10 from the field.
20 points for Kevin Durant.
One for two from three.
You also had Men Thompson with a great game.
He had 19 points, 6 assists, 7 rebounds,
filling up the score sheet like we're going to expect him to do.
By the way, Joe was asking, is Tony Parris Chica on the hot seat?
He needs to be gone, quite frankly.
Honestly, that sounds like that could be a possibility too, for sure.
Yeah, if you're keeping your job and you've got a year left to keep your job to try to get a new contract
and the people above you say make changes, you're going to make those changes.
Yeah.
And frankly, again, missing Tony Patton.
I mean, it wasn't like Andy, not Tony Pettis.
Gary Pettis.
Yeah.
We need some solidity at the third base.
In solidarity.
Now, of course, there are times where I'm sure Gary Pettis, there was people blown through his stop signs.
but it felt like it happened more last year than it did the previous three or four, right?
They're like, Carlos, you ran through that sign at third base coach?
Jeremy Payne is like, what's his name?
I've never met the guy.
Yeah, it was, it was awkward.
I just like saying Paris Chica.
That's my alias this year on the road for the Rockets.
Tony Perez Chica.
Tony Perez Chica.
And that is the news at noon.
Yeah.
Hitting coaches are gone.
All right.
Offense is saved.
713, 212, 5, 790.
You've been wanting it, you've been asking for it, you've been calling us,
you've been bludgeoning Ross over on his Twitter account about it?
I'm getting crushed on Twitter right now.
Are you good?
It's fun.
Y'all am to go crush sports RV.
He loved the hitting coaches and I was like, you know what, change got me made.
Oh, yeah, I said they're the greatest ever.
Come on now.
You get your chance.
Come in here and go, you know what?
We were right.
You were wrong, which again, we never argued with y'all.
We just said it's not their fault.
Yeah.
But and I will stay consistent
