This is no longer the Sean Salisbury show.
Get out of our studio.
No, I know.
All right.
That's Sean.
That's Dan.
You're Ross.
Good morning, everybody.
I hope you guys are in a fantastic mood.
Hey, we are not going to lollygag
on this radio show today's Sports RV.
It is four hours of intense sports conversation on the show today.
Don't you agree?
Yes.
You all right?
yes
did I get you some cold brew
I get some cold brew
I got zero problem with that
I have some
oh
Jonathan did something happen
I don't know about
I don't know
you tell me
I don't know
all right
hey
doing great
are you okay
you look good
thank you
like you've lost a couple
I think I have actually
thank you
a little more aerobic exercise
yeah I do a lot of long
a lot of long lengthy hikes
on my vacation
I know
I need to get away from you
less stress eating
I've actually gained two pounds
I'm pretty happy with him
That's good
Because that tapeworm's doing a number on you
You're looking gaunt
That's not nice at all
People have been asking me about you
Oh my God
Hope you'd say nice things about me
Hey is he okay
I'm doing just great
Thank you for asking you
We have a busy show today
We're with you till 2 o'clock this afternoon
Now you may be thinking
Some conjugal
I'm sorry
That's terrible
You know what
I don't want to say that for Friday
I'm sorry
I'm just kidding that
Nobody's asking me about you
Trust me
Oh, they can't
You know what, I'm sorry about that one too.
Yeah.
I bet your weight.
I'm trying to move along with the show.
All right, this show today until 2 o'clock will feature
gut fillings at 1130 this morning.
At 12 noon, we will not do the news at noon today
because Domingo is going to speak at 12 o'clock
and we will carry that for you here on the radio program.
I mean, that's some news at noon.
Oh, well, I think it is because, frankly, you're losing lineman.
Jake Andrews is going to be out at a significant period of time.
Great.
already a very thin position and you're going to be down for him for the foreseeable future.
Kate Stover's out.
Yeah, he's got a broken foot.
And unfortunately, probably CJ's next.
I see, what?
Stop, stop, stop, stop.
He's fine.
He only got sack three times.
You don't have any kids.
No.
But your brother is your closest family member, right?
I would that be fair to say?
Sure.
How would you feel if your brother was taking snaps as the quarterback at the Texas?
behind that offensive line.
I feel like I wouldn't be sitting here with you.
What do you mean?
You'd be worried for his life.
You just would be.
It's only three socks.
He's fine.
I'm worried about CJ's life.
Oh, my God.
Telling you.
That's football, baby.
All right.
News at noon at 12.
Matt Stafford's got a bad back and he was getting sacked.
Yeah, but he knows that I take sacks.
He's fine.
He didn't take any big hits.
He just kept losing yards and said,
I'm going to turn us a five-yard loss into an 11-yard loss.
All right.
Well, he thought he could move out of the way and he couldn't.
He's got to get better at that.
Yeah.
He's young.
All right. Joe's spot at 1230, the NFL rewind at 120, and I will handle, believe it or not, today at 150.
So that's the radio program today.
Okay.
I got to be brutally honest with you, Minnesota, Chicago to me, I know it was a Monday night opener, didn't really move the needle for me.
I don't have a big dog in the fight.
It was a pretty good game.
It was a really good game.
I'm not saying I didn't watch it, but I didn't like watch every second of it.
especially since my fantasy team was
all right
good congratulations to the Toros
well I mean it's not that your team
Fiva la Toro
that's our fight song
Yeah hopefully you can get your
your first championship
We're all rooting for you Matt
I really need it because it'll really
It'll keep you quiet for a while
I don't think so
I'm back to back to bet
And I'm gonna say that
My team's not looking so hot
So I'm gonna say that all season
I get those personal waiver list
I get those snipes while I can
Yes right
So the game itself was just okay.
I was, Kim was like, can we watch something that's not sports loaded?
Because all day Sunday.
It's a woman I'm trying to work.
Shut your bum ass up.
How many Minnesota Chicago calls will we get during the show today?
Seven.
All right.
So if you would like to be one of the seven people that called in for the discussion of last night's Minnesota Chicago game,
713, 21, 2, 5, 790, Jonathan, please keep track of the number of calls on the Minnesota Chicago game we get on the show.
today, okay?
We're not to talk about the game, but we can all, you can, you spin it towards Houston, Matt.
For example, did you see how elusive Caleb Williams was in that arm accuracy on the run?
I mean, he looks better than, than CJ Stroud has so far this season.
But there were some passes he missed yesterday, too.
That's true.
There were a lot of open ones, especially the tiny end up in the middle of the field.
He was way overthrown his receivers.
He can definitely wow you, but he definitely has some accuracy issues.
I think CJ Stroud, one of his best assets, is his accuracy, especially under duress.
Yes.
even though he does miss some throws
We did by JJ McCarthy yesterday
I thought he was really bad early
They were having some issues
Like he couldn't even get into plays
And then he was throwing some dimes late
Especially that throw to Aaron Jones at the end
The touchdown to Justin Jefferson was a really good throw
I want CJ to be better
Wait a minute
Wait a minute wait a minute
What?
You're not
How about we have this
I want CJ to be better
Conversation a month from now
We're just talking about
I'm not declaring J.J. McCarthy
think Caleb Williams better than C.J. Strow?
Okay.
I just, I got feeling we had many years ago.
Okay. Remember that quarter was the quarterback draft of two years ago?
All those first round guys were going.
The only two guys I thought were going to make any difference would be Jane Daniels in Washington
and Jalen Williams in Chicago.
I didn't think J.J.J. McCarthy was going to be like.
Caleb Williams.
I didn't think that J.J. McCarthy was going to be that good.
I didn't think Drake May would be that good.
So those are the only two guys I really pay close attention to.
And Caleb, based on your tape evaluations.
Well, I mean, you're already know I'm a Texan insider.
That's true.
I'm also an NFL analyst.
Well, Will Levis was a Thomas Sports Enterprises guy.
Yeah, we've gone dormant with Thomas Sports Enterprises.
We're taking a break.
I'm just saying, watching other guys make big time throws and throw a touchdown,
which She's a shrouded night.
do, it was making me a little jealous. That's all I'm saying. Okay. I didn't, I didn't get that
feel yesterday. So back to my point. So while the Minnesota-Chicago game did not like overly
enthrall me, she's like, can you find something? So there's nothing on commercial television.
It was particularly entertaining. I mean, there's reality shows and whatnot. N-CIS,
Phoenix. You know, there's like one night a week on CBS that has nothing but NIS is one after the other.
Oh, really? Yeah. There's an N-CIS after two people's name.
I think.
Really?
Yeah, you didn't see a promo during the broadcast?
Like Tom and Jerry.
I think it was like Natalia and Tim or something.
I don't know what it was.
I couldn't figure out what it was.
Tom and Jerry are solving crimes on NCIS?
I believe it was heckle and Jekyll.
So I go to HBO.
Okay.
And the hangover was about a half hour in.
Okay.
It's a classic.
And I went to push it on.
I thought I'll just catch it.
And I could actually rewind it to the very beginning.
So we watched it.
it. And it probably is the 50th time I've seen it. Okay. I laughed as hard last night as I've
had before. Can I say this? And please, you're going to have to interrupt me with some other
answers. In my mind, that might be the second funniest movie I've ever seen in my entire life.
It's in the short list. It's an all-time classic. And it's very re-watchable, as you said.
And when it first came out, it was pushing the envelope.
Like comedy always continues to push forward.
Like, what's tab?
You, you, you, you, comedy always toes the line of what's taboo and what's not.
Airplane did that, as you said.
I'm blazing saddles and stuff like that.
That's what makes comedy good is pushing and towing those lines.
And that's, the hangover did that.
There was so much wrong with that movie, but it was so good.
So case in point, a couple of years after it was released, I was in New Orleans.
I don't know if I was at a U of H game for Tulane or was maybe earlier with the
And I'm playing craps at that point it was RERIS.
Now it's Reesers.
Okay.
And I'm playing craps.
And the other end of the table, my buddy who's with me says, that's Black Doug.
That's not what I said.
That was you?
Yes.
Oh, you know, I'm going to let you tell your version of the story.
Oh, this is even better.
Go ahead.
And I didn't really remember who Black Doug was.
No, I said that's Mike Epps.
And you had no clue.
See how mad is missing.
Contrude this story, Jonathan?
I was like, that's Mike Epps.
You're like, yeah, I don't know who that is.
I was like, yeah, he's been in a lot of movies.
He was in next Friday.
I was trying to think of everything that he had been in.
I thought it was a black Doug, no?
Yes, and he was Black Doug in Hangover.
That's the one.
That's the one I finally said.
I named like three movies that he was in.
And you're like, yeah, you're like, I'm drawing a blank guy.
I have no clue who that guy is.
And you said, Black Doug.
I was like, oh, I know, black Doug.
I was like, oh, he's Black Doug in the hangover.
He's like, oh, okay, Black Doug.
And I saw Black Dog again on the movie.
And he was phenomenal.
Yes.
And we played craps with him.
Yes, we did.
And he was nice.
Well, first of all, I feel awful that it was you that was with me.
And you didn't remember that it was me.
Correct.
And that you missed, you relayed the story incorrectly.
I thought that you had said to, well, whoever my friend was, which turned out to be you,
would it, do we go on a rocket trip or was it something else?
It was rockets, yes.
I've been missing very early on.
But I think was Dan Tony playing with us too, I think, at the table or close to it?
There's no Mike Dantony.
All right.
There might have been a certain Rockets play at the blackjack table with us for a minute.
You could say it.
I don't have to.
What is it rhyme with?
You know.
Oh, okay.
Oh, Merrick Morton?
Yes.
Okay, very good.
Yeah, but Black, I was like, Black Doug.
I told Kim, I said, I played craps with Black Doug.
That is so funny.
I mean, he is like, well, I guess, yeah, that's fine.
Whatever.
I mean, he's been a deaf comedy jam, a bunch of other stuff.
Everything.
Everything about that movie made me laugh.
Even the camera photos at the very end of the movie,
where you're supposed to just walk out and go to the group.
The photos made, I was belly laughing.
So that's how Mr. Texas spent us a night home with his family.
Watching Minnesota, Chicago and watching,
I believe, behind airplane the second funniest movie I've ever seen in my life.
It's on the short list.
I might go like stepbrothers in there somewhere.
Oh, stepbrothers too.
Oh, my God.
Oh.
Step brothers.
Happy Gilmore was good, but I didn't laugh as loudly as I did in Step Brothers.
I mean, my wife's like, can you relax?
You've seen this movie before.
I said, yeah, but it's still as funny as ever.
Ooh, don't sleep on Super Bad.
Have you seen Super Bad?
Super Bad, phenomenal.
Wow, I'm actually surprised you've seen that.
Yes, absolutely.
It's after 2005.
Friday, 1130.
Okay, you know what?
I can't already.
Start writing those down.
This is one segmented.
I got a list for you.
It's absolutely terrible.
1012 on the Matt Thomas show at Ross
713-212-5-790 7-1-3-21-2-5-7-90
poll question today Rossi how often do you lolly gag
The answers are never
Never
I should ask you want my answer or your answer
Never daily
A few times a week
Or only when the time is right
There's always a proper time for lolligagging
I feel like I need to do some more lollagging in my life
I agree.
I've been trying to get you relaxed for like 10 years.
I know.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
Bad news from baseball yesterday.
We'll tell you about that, plus your phone calls next.
Ray in Miami wants to talk Texans football.
Doesn't want to talk dolphins.
And we're still trying to find the Minnesota-Chicago call from last night.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
1018 on Sports Talk, 790.
I last time when I got home I rewatch the Steve Starkeesian response to that person on Twitter or that reporter at the weekly press conference is Steve like was was he off his meds or something because it was such and we'll play it again because I want if those didn't hear it it was such an odd response question was again this is young reporter who clearly didn't have the backup is something wrong with we have?
the audit, can you find it? It's easier if we play
it as compared to... Yes,
we have it somewhere. Okay. All right.
I want... You have it, Jonathan?
No, I was something.
Give me a second. Okay.
Follow Sports RV on Instagram.
Well, you know what? Follow sports RV on Instagram.
Oh, look at that switch. Oh, okay.
I mean, you'll...
Put it this way. You'll follow him.
You'll look at it for about a week, and then you'll
probably unfollow because of boredom.
No, just mute. Just don't unfollow me.
That's right. Keep the follows up.
Okay. So again, Steve Sarkisian every Monday is a press conference where he was asked about a tweet that was out there with video of Arch grimacing.
And here it is.
Yes, with the question.
Arch Manning seemed to be having some throwing pains by the fourth.
According to who.
Arch.
Arch said that to you?
No.
Oh, according to who.
It just looked like he was.
He doesn't have any.
Is there an explanation to why he was, it looked like that?
I don't know.
I've never filmed any of you guys when you're using the bathroom,
so I don't know what faces you make when you're doing that.
Answer did not meet the question.
Here's a teachable moment for those of you.
If I was teaching a sports media class.
Okay.
Professor Thomas, what do you got?
You should always have a backup question ready for a question
that the coach might think is uncomfortable.
What he should have said was,
And he didn't want to say was, hey, some rando on Twitter.
He should have said there's a social media posting showing him grimacing.
Or he could just say that was that was from the, the social media thing is recording the broadcast.
He could have said, he could have said from the broadcast.
He didn't, he lost the battle with Sarkeesian after he just said, well, it looked like it.
So just a little one-on-one
Have a backup if you're going to go not and he didn't go after him
It was a very it was a very good question
It wasn't the question was the issue
Yeah just ask if he's got any issues
It looks like he's hurt
It's a fair question in an open form like that
It was a fair question and he goes to
I don't watch any of you go to the bathroom
Well there is a way that that makes sense
I would like to hear this
If Arch messed himself on the throw
I'm not
trying to be funny. I mean, okay, you know what I'm saying, though? That's the only
logical explanation for what he said, right?
I'll be brutally honest with you. I did not
think that of a possibility. But you have a point. Why would he go to that card?
Yeah, that's the only way it makes sense.
That's right. That he, that the
reporter was thinking that
Sarkeesian, I mean, why else would he say that?
That's why I'm asking you? I don't, I, you know, the, I'm just
don't get it. I don't get that
the goofy response
to what I think Sark thought was a goofy
question. I mean,
let's give an analogy on this.
I mean, he might not just have a sense of him.
He's out of left field and he was just trying
to be funny and it was, yeah, clearly he's got a
bad sense of humor. You'd say
Matt, you thought you've lost weight.
I don't think I've lost weight.
What happened to your, what happened to your
eyebrows? I mean, if
then, it didn't make any sense.
There's a disconnection. There's no correlation between
the two statements unless
I don't know.
Now you got me thinking about
whether or not
Arce sold himself.
That's the only thing that popped
into my mind that made it make sense.
The only soul I know
in sports history is Paul Pierce.
Yeah, see, he did it.
But that's one out of thousands of sporting events.
You didn't go arch during San Jose State?
Yeah, I don't know.
That's the only way I could make the connection.
I kept watching. I'm like,
what am I missing?
I'm here to connect the dots for you, Matt.
One and one.
That's all I got to do.
What?
Oh, the longhorns?
Yeah.
Well, his arm strength doesn't look great and mechanically doesn't look great.
And he's supposed to be the best quarterback prospect of all time.
He's throwing sidearm inaccurate passes when he's not under duress.
I'm a little worried.
Well, at least you got two more years of him.
Yeah, we'll see.
Yeah, he's not playing like 1-1-1.
And that's okay.
That happens.
And, I mean, all the high, I would say,
90% of the hype that's put on him, he didn't put on himself.
No, his last name put the hype up.
Exactly. So, I mean, five-star, we talked about this.
The five-star quarterbacks all over the place don't work out.
The number two recruit that year with Arch Manning was Nico Yamaliyava.
He was not good at Tennessee, and now he's not good at UCLA.
Boy, they're terrible at UCLA.
Yeah, they're...
Unbelievable bad. He'd be going to Western Kentucky before you know it.
Ray on 790. Good morning, Ray.
Hey, how you doing, guys?
Good.
First about that coach, they have to watch what they're saying because if a cheerleader
say, hey, he was recording me.
Who do you think we're going to believe the cheerleader or him?
They have to watch what they say.
They're saying stuff as a shop job just for attention.
They have to watch what they're saying as coaches for attention
because if a feeding the camera would say he was recording her,
the world is going to believe that female.
Now, to CJ,
I don't think I've heard this on the station before.
CJ, set your bum ass up.
You need to be more mobile, CJ.
It ain't the offensive line.
It's the quarterback play.
You need to be more mobile.
You need to make that play happen, CJ.
You need to make yourself a leader of that team.
If you got a crappy offensive line, CJ,
you need to make the best of your play
and stop worried about every other player.
You're lethargic.
You're coming out lazy.
It's you, C.J.
If you want to be the leader of this team, man,
but are Houston Texans, you need to be the leader.
And I'm tired of these excuses, man.
I'm tired of it.
You don't look like you're ready to beat Baltimore.
You don't look like you're ready to beat anybody.
You're not going to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
I'm sick of this.
Ray!
Fire and Brimstone!
I didn't realize the slander for CJ was coming out this early.
Usually takes an O and two star for that to happen.
I mean, to somewhat of his point,
now I'm saying it's not the offensive line at CJ.
No, but it can be both.
There are quarterbacks who have bad offensive lines
who can still make throws,
who can still be successful,
who aren't losing all these yards on sacks.
He's got to be better.
We talked about this last year.
It's the same thing.
I feel it was this show from last year,
last December?
Well, that's my problem, Ross.
The issue is, and I brought this up a little bit on the show yesterday,
what noticeable difference have we had from this team?
And look, it is just one game,
so it's not fair to compare one versus 17 or 18.
But it is one that shows that there isn't a transformation,
that there isn't a noticeable improvement,
that the same sort of, man, can he make the throws?
or man, I wish he had better protection.
They just,
man, I don't want to do this.
I don't want to say history repeating itself.
So I'm not going to have to, I'm not going to say it.
I think an underrated storyline from this past weekend is that Joe Mixon is gone.
It allows them to play, as we were talking about,
they can play two high safeties, and then they dare you to run on them.
And if you don't have any much of a running game,
which Joe Mixon does a good job of a lot of those runs and those big runs,
that Joe Mixon made last year,
or he was just making stuff happen,
where there were not clear running lanes.
There was not good run blocking.
And he's making guys miss,
and he's being patient at the right time,
and slowing down and accelerating and making moves,
and the run is supposed to go left,
but he has the vision to know that it's collapsing left side
so he goes to the right side.
You don't have anybody that can do that right now.
And so if they don't have to respect your run game at all,
and they're going to sit back in too high safety,
And so you're under pressure before a pass play can develop.
This is what you end up with.
What we saw on Sunday.
It's not good.
It's the thing is that.
It's everybody.
Run game, offensive line, quarterback, it's everybody.
So it shouldn't be ironic that the Texans spent so much time,
especially in the first half the door to the tight end.
There was no deep downfield routes to go to.
We'll get to more on this.
D'Amico's going to talk in 90 minutes and we will carry it for you right here on Sports Talk 790.
I'm sure he'll be very transparent and forthcoming about everything.
Do you think he'll be snippy?
Absolutely.
Especially if he gets asked about foot injuries and all that stuff.
Oh, no.
We only want people here that care about the, oh, we can't have that.
Well, we'll see.
Okay, so here's what we're going to do today when we carry the D'Amico.
Any time that we think he's being snippy, we're going to use the sound effect, right?
Okay.
You want to go with, what is it?
Gur.
Gr.
So, here, let's record it.
Is that, you ready?
Oh, no.
Let's get some Matt Thomas sound effects it here.
Oh my gosh.
Okay?
Sure, why not?
Tell me when you're ready.
You ready, Jonathan?
Three, two, one.
Er.
You do one now.
Okay.
A three, a two, one.
Okay, you got two now.
Jonathan, your turn.
Three, two, one.
No, you can't go.
Ross laughed.
I'm sorry, I'll shut up.
Three, two, one.
Okay, there it is.
We have three sound effects.
I'm trying to find anything I have.
It's like,
Punks,
punks.
Now, there will be some softball questions
asked by not legit media there,
so there won't be any of that.
We can't do that.
We can't play that.
We're just playing the gurrs.
Okay, I'm just looking for...
What is this?
That's not playing.
It's a penis.
Matt.
Hmm?
Oh, that's actually not.
not a bad one. What is this?
No. That
you know, that's the sound about we play for stupid
media questions.
Okay. Well, not media. There's stupid.
Stupid people that think they're credential media.
How about that? Is that fair?
Eh. But.
You know, okay, don't answer the question. We have the three
Gurs, one from each of us.
And if we feel like if Domingo's getting mad at somebody, we'll have to play it.
Just say three growls.
make me feel more comfortable.
Okay.
713.
212.
5790.
713.
212 5790.
Er.
That's not bad.
That's great, it's great, Matt.
People are going to be going throughout the office today.
Wow.
Somebody thought a bear would be in the woods.
They hear that one.
This is what it sounded like when I came across a bear in Big Bend.
Her.
You're never going to have to, you're never going to get rid of those.
It was a fancy bear.
He was a metro bear.
It was a fancy mat, fancy bear.
713, 212570.
7.90.
Tonight, you got the Astros and the Blue Jays.
First pitch, I believe, is at 607, which is 610 Central Time, but 607 Canadian.
Love it.
Again, it's funny because, you know, I'm Mr. Texas, but I'm also Mr. Toronto, too.
All right.
First of all, you can't be both.
You're right.
I'm not going to be Mr. Canada.
Are you really trying to bring every segment to a grinding hole by this ridiculous moniker you self-glossed?
I absolutely love Toronto.
Okay, good.
You're not Mr. Texas.
It's fine.
Astros do play the Blue Jays today.
The Astros, by the way, got no favors last night.
The Rangers won and the Mariners one.
It's two-game lead, Rossi.
How are we feeling?
They're either going to be good enough or they're not.
That's how I'm feeling.
It's been all in front of them.
They haven't taken care of business against some lesser competition.
You've got big games coming up.
So you've got to take care of business in those.
Big series with the Mariners.
You've got more with the Rangers as well.
This Toronto series is not going to be easy.
They're going to be good enough or they're not.
We'll see.
Louise Garcia is going to make you second start.
Shane Bieber will throw for the Blue Jays.
Blue Jays are 82 and 61 and just smack the ball around.
George Springer having a fantastic season.
We'll talk to more about that with Joe Espada coming up in less than two hours here on sports talks.
I'm a reminder, tell your friends, frankly tell your enemies.
1230, Joe Espada on this radio show.
Okay.
Normally Tuesdays here on the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
That's right.
We're here every day, 10 to 2.
Bobby's with us on 790.
Bobby, good morning.
Hey, good morning.
How are you guys doing?
Well, thank you.
Hey, just a quick sign of the Texans.
I mean, I know they just had a loss.
They played a really good team.
The Rams are a great team with a great defense.
Everybody's kind of freaking out.
But here's my thoughts on this.
The Texans are a really good team.
They've got a great defense.
They'll get mixing back in four to six weeks.
They're going to win the division.
They're going to make the playoffs.
And then we'll see what they got.
It's just going to come down to, you know, they can beat anybody in the AFC.
I believe they play the right game.
So I think everybody needs to calm down, take a breath.
They're going to be there at the end, and there's just going to be, hey, can we beat the Ravens?
Can we beat Kansas City?
Can we beat those guys?
I think they can do it.
But everybody just take a breath, man.
It's one game.
They're going to be fine.
I mean, I really believe that.
What's your thoughts on that?
Well, first, the only thing I can say is you're right.
Overreaction is incredible after week one of a season.
Frankly, Bobby, overreaction is really going to ramp up.
I don't know when two-star.
That's when teams always go hear that stat about teams that start the season 0 and 2 make or don't make the playoffs.
The only thing I'm going to disagree with you with is your initial statement.
Joe Mixon's back in four to five weeks.
We have no idea about that.
Okay.
I'm hoping.
Well, yeah, you are hoping.
If he doesn't, to Ross's point in the first segment of the show, I think the Texans' running game is in some severe trouble.
There's not going to be anybody that's going to overly respect Pierce, Marks,
Chubb Gumbawale.
It's just, it's going to be probably a bottom five.
That's not the Texas running back room you just ran through, is it?
It actually is.
I'm sorry.
But Bobby, the question I would have is, and again, we're not going to overact.
But did the Texans do enough drafting wise, frame C wise, to supplant the teams that we were afraid of to begin with?
That's the Baltimore Ravens.
That's the Kansas City Chiefs.
That is the Baltimore Ravens.
That could maybe even be the Cincinnati Bengals,
although they struggled against Cleveland last week.
And it might be a team like the Los Angeles Chargers.
I don't know.
I don't think Denver's got enough in the tank to be a legitimate
AMC title contender.
So again, we're not going to have this conversation today.
We're going to have it probably in seven or eight weeks.
But it just, there was just so much of the game on Sunday that made people think,
I know what we're going to do.
We're going to win the AMC South because the South Division.
very good. They're going to win their 10 games and they're going to bounce out in the first
second run of the playoffs, just like the franchise is done for a better part of 20 years.
And that's why I think people not winging out, but certainly are like, okay, wait me up when
something new is happening. Right. Okay, just last thought. Okay. You just made one of our good
points. Okay. So they've got, they've got, what, they've been 16 games left. Okay.
I believe, like I said, they're going to win the division. When they get to the playoffs,
I believe at that time we'll have a healthy mixing.
Maybe 10 mixing that.
We'll have a healthy mixing.
With the running game,
I think the offense will have to get better at young.
I believe they're going to, and every team has flaws.
I think the Texas have enough to do it.
It's going to come down to can they execute in the playoffs.
And I think we'll all wait and see.
Thank you for the phone call.
I mean, if you're a Texan fan,
you have to have that optimistic viewpoint.
You should not be selling on your team after one loss.
By the way, you play the Los Angeles Rams.
you play a team that's probably going to win the NFC West.
They're going to probably make the playoffs.
And they might even be a sneaky pick for maybe a win or two in the NFC playoffs.
I think the NFC is wide open, frankly.
Yeah, it's not only that it's not the result.
It's not only that they lost.
It's just the way that it looked.
The offense just looked bogged down.
They didn't look good.
They weren't able to move the chains.
Like if you go out there and you lose, okay, obviously Bill's Ravens is an extreme.
You don't have to necessarily lose like that.
But it just, there wasn't a whole.
lot of takeaways that were
encouraging,
especially losing the way that
you lost last year.
They had to went out there and scored 24
and lost 27 to 24.
It would feel a lot better.
It's just they couldn't get
only three field goals
in the first half
and then zero points in the second half.
It was not entertaining.
It was not encouraging.
The most encouraging
thing you can take out of it is
our defense is kind of what we thought
that we were going to be low score.
You give up 14 points on the road.
That's going to win you a lot of games.
It just is.
But if your offense,
if Kami Fairbairn is your
is your deep threat
because hell
Nico Collins wasn't, I think people are
going to be wgging out.
1044, Sports Talk 790.
Gut feelings coming up in 45 minutes.
All right, 1051 on Sports Talk.
790. It is interesting. Every week we get these variety of betting website emails that say,
hey, here's what's going on. Here are favorites for this. Here are not favorites for this.
They have recalibrated the Super Bowl favorites. The Ravens are no longer the Super Bowl favorites.
They're the Buffalo Bills another Super Bowl favorites. It's just crazy after one week.
Six to one, the bills are to win the Super Bowl. The Ravens are six and a half. So it's not a dramatic change.
The Eagles are seven and a half. The Packers are eight and a half.
Put things in perspective, the Houston Texans are 33 to 1 to win the Super Bowl.
So the Ravens were the favorite?
Ravens were the favorite before the season started, week one change.
So it's a slight change.
Well, you said I was all over the Raven's jock when I picked him, and they were the betting favorite.
Well, I'm just saying, when Ross jumps on somebody's jock, bad things happen.
Excuse me?
What else we got here?
AFC conference champion.
That's actually redundant.
AFC champion.
Texans are 16 to 1.
They are seventh among the 16 teams.
16 to 1 to win the AFC.
I was going to say to win the Super Bowl.
That sounds ridiculous.
No.
AFC.
Here are the teams that Vegas believes is a better chance of making the Super Bowl.
Now, they're right, but it is a, it's a number out there.
Buffalo, Baltimore, Kansas City, the Chargers, Denver, and Cincinnati are all considered
better odds to win the
the AFC over your Houston, Texas.
Well, I'm not really going to
aren't, didn't all those teams win week one?
And that could be part
that's not part of it, that's all of it, frankly.
No, Chief's lost, that's right, but.
Yeah. But they want, they put a very close game
with the Chargers, and I don't, you know, look,
thank you Travis Kelsey for being human.
I appreciate you catching touchdown pass for me in Brazil.
Yes.
I don't think he's going to have a great season for you.
I don't think so either.
Certainly not when Rishi Rice comes back.
Yeah.
That is the early narrative that I think that I would say not every Texan fan has, but a lot of it is, okay, we're kind of used to this.
I think a lot of people is just saying, yeah, same bleep different day.
And I want to disagree with that, but how could you have?
But I put it this way.
If they play Tampa Monday and win, or Monday night and play and win 34, 24, 24, everybody's going to feel better.
Everybody would feel better.
It's a week to week.
It's a week to week thing.
It happens with your college teams.
It happens with your pro teams.
You know, baseball, the Astros could win three in a row and then lose two in a row.
And then all of a sudden, baseball seems this year a grumpier bunch than normal.
Astros fans are out of hand spoiled this year.
It's ridiculous.
Yeah.
You would think if you would have just scanned everyone talking about the team and where they are,
you would think they would be where the A's are.
Blow it up, fire Joe, fire Dana,
fire coaches, get rid of players.
Wasn't it last week we had a call?
Fire the manager, fire the general manager,
fire everyone, blow the team up.
They're in first place.
Spoiled.
And of course, fire the hitting coaches and the pitching coaches.
I mean, honestly, for me, I'd rather be spoiled.
I can live with trying to calm the waters down
as compared to apathy.
Yeah.
Imagine how much Royal's talk is going on in Kansas.
city right now? Not a whole lot. Yeah, and we've lived through that for sure.
In a way, it beats the alternative, but in a way, it's also just more frustration.
A lot of frustration with the fan base, spoiled fan base is worse than no frustration.
But I get it, especially because we're in a sports business, Matt. We like eyes and ears and the a
airstro's. I mean, I don't know, is what's Patriot fan been doing the last half dozen years?
Not a half dozen years. Well, they've been complaining.
Yeah, half dozen. Me six.
But I would say football, hmm, like Boston fans,
even if the Patriots go four in 13, three years in a row,
Patriots fans still going to be loud and whiny and invested in the team.
More than here in Houston.
I'm just, I mean, it is what it is.
There's more sports passion in that town than here.
But, I mean, I wonder if Braves fans, the 1990s got tired of.
Oh, there was apathy for sure.
I was because I remember going to cover a couple of Astros playoff series against Atlanta.
And the city was empty.
Now, granted, they were also playing at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, which doesn't necessarily help.
Well, the actual shows do that too.
Yeah.
No, we've seen the crowds here.
The wildcard crowds and the ALDS crowds, because everybody's, a lot of it's, everybody's like, wow, these prices are insane.
I'm going to save my money for the CS or the World Series.
Right.
I think a lot of people did that last year, in fact.
Because, look, as good as Detroit was, and Tark's Scoobble obviously was fantastic,
Detroit was on a household name, and you thought, well, you're home.
It's the Tigers is their first playoff.
appearance in forever.
This should be, I'm going to save my money for the division series.
And I think it can very well be the case again this year.
We shall see.
They've got to get there first.
Only two games up at the moment.
87% playoff odds.
You know what?
That gives me still pause for optimism.
That means that even if the Astros don't win the division, they're still going to,
unless they go on a free fall.
And look, let me tell you something, gang.
Your squad has been playing about 470 baseball for about two months, right?
Give or take?
Basically.
and you're still holding on to a first place.
And you've got the wild card as a default.
Now, you can't play 370 baseball and expect that default to come into play.
But if you're, you know, if you got your head about water and you're winning just enough,
it does help the Rangers have been, well, they were mid for a while.
And they're playing better.
And it certainly helps that the Astros have a Seattle in their division.
Starting rotation against Toronto, Garcia, Alexander, Javier.
How are we feeling?
Concern.
against Berrios, Bieber, and Gousman.
Yeah, concern.
But remember, this Astro team somehow, some way, plays exemplary baseball against the first place teams.
Now, Shane Bieber and Jose Berrios have not been as good as they've been in the past.
So that's good.
Is Bieber been hurt this year?
He's only got a two-in-one record.
I'm assuming it's got to be the taste.
And Kevin Gousman's in good, but he hasn't been, he hasn't been, you know, Cy Young, Gousman.
1058.
Sports Talk 7 on the hour.
hour in the book so we have three left to go.
Still ahead in the next half hour.
He will have got feelings.
And in one hour from now,
we'll hear from D'emico Ryan's plus Joe,
a spot at 1230.
You're going to hear from both two of the sports franchises in this town in one hour.
You can get another show in the marketplace.
Give you that.
You damn, Skippy.
713-1-2-5-7-90.
This is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
So this lollagging quote has made more rounds around the NFL circle.
than when we originally played it on Sunday after the Rams' victory over the Texans.
So I've got a question out there if you'd like to give us a response.
It's at SportsMT, the official Twitter account of the Matt Thomas show, the only one that you should follow.
How much do you lollygag?
It's never daily a few times a week and only when the time is right.
Daily, we've got a lot of the lolligggers listen to show.
46% of you, Lolligaggaggag day.
We appreciate you.
Lolliggging with us.
to two.
26% only when the time is right.
23% a few times a week.
5% of you never lolly gag.
Wow.
I'd like to meet you.
I'd like to meet that 5%.
What's your response, man?
How often do you lolly gag?
A few times a week.
I'm a daily lolly gagger.
That comes to zero surprise.
Texans have a weird week because they have the Monday night game.
So they will get the extra day off this week.
To clear their heads.
I like this.
Is that what it is?
Get away from the sport.
Get away from it all.
And then here's the thing.
I don't think the NFL does them any favors.
Not that this is a huge deal.
But you know, I'm a little bit on the travel logistics side of it.
They have the Monday night game, which is a big benefit.
Having the Monday night home game is a big deal.
There's just an extra energy and extra buzz in the crowd, especially with the home opener.
Then they have to, I think they go to Jacksonville next week, the following week after that.
So it's a short week and then you have to go on the road.
Not to do a lot of things on Saturday.
And not that Jacksonville is the longest flight in the world.
I don't know.
My guess is if I was in charge of scheduling for any sport,
I would be like, man, leave me alone.
I'm doing the best I can.
Yeah, I guess.
It'll be fine.
They're going to make it.
They will make it.
Hell, we had teams that were traveling here in the middle of the night
coming in here and beating the Astros,
after I guaranteed Lance McCullors are going to beat the Rangers.
That's right.
You said it was a must-win game.
Need to have a game.
Didn't get it.
They did not win.
No, they're still in first place.
It's all good.
They got games in front of them that can win.
By the way, I already have a song locked and loaded for tomorrow's open when the Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays.
Okay.
It's a yacht rock classic and we'll be playing it tomorrow, hopefully at 10 o'clock on the show.
Good God.
What do you mean, good God?
That's fine.
I mean, I guess it is, it's very on brand, so we got to stay on brand.
Okay, you know what?
Nope, nope.
Stay on brand, it's fine.
We can Kendrick Lamar if you want.
No.
Well, that would be disrespectful because Drake's from Toronto.
Ooh, that'd be even better.
Don't you think you want to play Kendrick Lamar's song?
That's true, actually.
Yeah, you played not like us.
You play a disc track?
Are there any songs that Kendrick doesn't violently swear during the song?
Well, there's tons.
Okay.
So you know what we'll do tomorrow?
I will make, I will pivot.
No, we don't have to.
I mean, everything we have is played on the beat.
to diss Drake.
Ah, okay, that makes sense, I guess.
We will play a Kendrick Lamar song that has...
I mean, do you want one of the disc songs?
There was like five of them.
No, I mean, I trust your choice.
I don't necessarily have to do that.
It's fine.
All right, 713-212-5-7-90.
Vikings beat the Bears last night, 27 to 24.
Maybe winning on the road isn't that difficult after all.
San Francisco won at Seattle.
Pittsburgh, one of the Jets yesterday on Sunday.
since anyone at Cleveland
although Cleveland sucks
who else
one on the road over the weekend
Tampa Bay won in Atlanta
how about Tampa Bay opening up the year
going to play two road games start the season
imagine how good they'd be feeling if they beat the Texans on
Raiders won in New England
Yeah you don't mean
It happens
It can happen
You know it's so funny when you hear coaches say
You know it's very difficult to win in said sport
When it really isn't that difficult
Because when you play a game, one side has to win it.
Yes, that's true.
But the best and brightest minds on the planet win more than the others, win more than they lose.
So then you've got to fight against them.
You got to be better or as good as the Andy Reid.
Okay, I know it wasn't a great week for John Harbaugh,
but he's got a very great track record there.
And whoever else, the best coaches in football.
They gave us a 41-40
Week 1 Sunday night game.
Insane.
And everybody's upset at John Huff, because they keep putting all these stats up.
John Harbaugh, the most double-digit leads lost since whatever.
Well, they've also had more double-digit leads than everybody, just about everybody else.
I saw some other stat that contextualize that.
It's like, yeah, they've lost a lot of big leads, but they get a lot of big leads.
You're talking about Buffalo Baltimore.
Do you know again?
one of those two super elite quarterbacks.
They're not just elite Rossi.
They're our franchise Hall of Fame quarterback.
MVP.
MVP candidates.
One of those two guys isn't going to the Super Bowl again.
It's hard to win in the league, Matt.
It's hard.
As I've been telling you, it's hard to win the NFL.
It's hard to win.
And we haven't even mentioned Burrow or Mahomes.
Well, Burroughs gone at least.
least.
Yeah, he is gone.
And pretty soon you're going to be hearing about how Justin Herbert just is a good
quarterback that just can't take his team.
Can't get it done.
Yeah.
It's a, you know what?
Look, first of all, these guys are making $56 million dollars a year, so I'm not going to be
crying for them.
You're not going to cry for them.
But it's a pretty hard tag to live with.
Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, one of those two cats ain't going to the Super Bowl yet again.
whose image
is hurt more
I think it's Lamar Jackson's frankly
I would
well he's the multiple MVP yeah
and they have had
the Ravens have had
better more complete teams
but I mean people always talk
about
Josh Allen not having
receivers
it's like who does
Lamar Jackson have
Zay Flowers is good
hey Zay Flowers Rossi
was great
was you on your fantasy team
yes
I didn't know that
7 for 124 I think is what he had
we're all proud of the Toros.
We're the Toro, that's right.
I do think Zayflower is a little bit too quickly dismissed by the fantasy community,
but that's another discussion for another time.
He's good, but he's not great.
I mean, Keon Coleman had a big day.
Khalil Shakir is there, Dalton Kincaid.
I'm not saying neither of them have weapons,
but I think a lot of it, of course, especially the last two years now, is Derek Henry.
Neither of them have a Derek Henry.
I mean, by the way, though, one of the reasons that Derek Henry is so successful
is because the run threat that Lamar Jackson is.
He was like at six yards of carry last year.
He did not have that his last three years in Tennessee.
He was around like four, four and a half yards per carry.
Then you get with somebody that is the run threat that Lamar Jackson is
and that helps open up the run lanes.
So they work in tandem.
So you're telling me having a great running back or a great quarterback
helps the other skill position.
Yeah.
That's what CJ Straud's like, man.
Can you give me some help?
Can you give me Derek Henry?
Let me ask you this.
Well, we don't know.
exactly when
Mixon suffered his injury
because they're keeping that
super incognito, right?
I saw something super
unconfirmed on Twitter.
Somebody was saying botched surgery? Have you
heard that? Or am I, did that come out when I was
on vacation? Or is that, okay, that's just a Twitter rumor.
Yeah, and again, we got to take that
now that could certainly be the case.
It would make sense.
But my point in point is this.
When did he have the surgery?
Would you have it in the summertime? If you had
something again this is where the problem is where the whole we're having we're we're having
we're having we're having we're having to guess so instead of seeing a perhaps erroneous internet
report it could have been just as easy for nick as serio and and joe mixon and or
demico or any of those three guys to say here's what happened and they're not going to
no let me ask you this are they are they not saying here's what happened because they're
embarrassed? Or that is want to keep it super private. Because again, when you keep it super private,
then you have Jemokes like us guessing on the situation. If you just come out and say he had surgery,
we expect him in six weeks, then the questions would stop. Instead, you get asked about it at every
press conference. It gets all upset about it. And then you get upset. Let me give you the counterpoint
to what he said. Okay. And this is exactly what they said when they had the press conference.
They said, well, if we tell you six weeks and it comes back in seven or eight, are you going to call
us out on that? And the answer is not really. No. People have setbacks every time.
Look at the Astros.
Life is setbacked city over here.
Yeah.
And that's what they're afraid of.
They're afraid of saying, well, you told us this.
Nobody's going to get out pitchforks when you say, in general, you give a range
anyways.
You say six to eight, eight to ten.
Yeah.
We evaluate in two months.
But saying nothing makes us figure out, well, did something nefarious happen?
And then by the way, and whatever injury he's had, somebody's had before, unless
he's the first person in human history to have whatever exact injury he has.
so you have a timeline or an idea of how long it's going to take.
But my question, here's my question too, all that is,
if this happened early, early on,
did the Texans not address the running back situation the way they should have?
That's what makes me think, actually,
that he's not going to be gone that long.
I hope you're right.
Tank Bigsby just got traded to the Eagles for a fifth and six.
I would have liked Tank Biggsby here.
Third round pick in 2023, rushed for 760.
60 yards last year.
I think he's a good, especially in the open field runner.
Maybe I don't know. Look, I haven't been breaking down Tank Bigsby tape,
but he seems better than a lot of the options you have here.
And now Fifth and Six is kind of steep,
especially with the Eagles for a backup running back.
But still, look, Ross, if there's any NFL team in the league
that can give away low-round draft picks, it's the collector.
It's the draft collector.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I like Tank Biggsby.
You can say it easily, too.
Yeah.
It's fun to say, here comes tank Bigsby down the field.
Let me tell you what Tank Bings.
What is it? Tank Bigsby.
Bingsby.
He's not a 5-7 white guy.
No.
There's no chance.
He's not, he didn't weigh 114 pounds.
Tank Bigsby is a man's man.
Exactly.
I would like, yeah.
511, 215.
Oh my God.
He wants to beat your ass.
He runs hard.
And he's quite a griller as well.
Yeah, I bet he could.
Tank baby, you want some tank big of the ribs, baby?
Tank's barbecue.
Yeah, tanks barbecue.
You know who doesn't want to see him in here in town?
Dale Brinson?
That's probably true.
By the way, we're going to check.
Do you know, I wonder if Carrie McNair has ever gone to delicious.
Well, that's a good question.
Do we need some intel on this?
Well, you know what?
It's been very hard to get a hold of Dale.
And we probably, I don't know if he's been arrested or what.
I don't know, but I bet care.
I wonder if.
If Cal goes to Dale over delicious and he like spills the beans, so to speak.
Like, man, I hate my brother.
Well, we could try to get the tea.
Well, we can work on it.
I wonder if Cal likes Carrie, but Hannah hates Carrie so much that it's like,
Cal's like, I can't talk to you.
Call my burner phone.
I want to see.
No statement from the Texans on this?
And there will not be one.
There will be zero.
You will not hear Mark Van derbyer, first attendant from the.
The Texans 19 with 1130 left to go in the quarter.
By the way, Carrie McNair, not with us tonight.
He is arguing with my boss and brother.
No, I don't think Texans TV, Texans radio, Texans militia, whatever.
Rocket roll.
The Texans got a temporary injunction on Carrie McNair.
On a great crab that time, Nico Collins for 19 yards.
And by the way, do you know Andre that Janice loves me more than he loves my other brother,
Carrie.
Hey, that's not bad.
Fancy bear, Matt.
Why is mine the only one being played?
Because it's the best.
I don't want to hear all.
That's pretty great.
I was waiting for the right time.
All right, remember, anytime you think that D'Amico's getting tested, it's
editorial for you.
Okay, okay, okay.
We're going to play it during the 12 o'clock press cup.
That's a new bit in house.
When does D'Amico get grumpy during Texas?
Jackson's press conferences.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
Gut feelings coming up in 15 minutes here on Sports Talk 790.
1119 on Sports Talk 790.
This is Matt Tomas-M-A-Ross.
I got a question for you.
We got gut feelings coming up in about 10 minutes,
so this is a little bit off the beaten track.
Okay.
My wife and I watched today's show as I get ready for work
and I have breakfast and whatever.
That's beautiful.
Thank you.
In the San Francisco Seattle game, Seattle police have been concerned about fan violence.
Explain.
What are these crazies in the Great Northwest getting up to going up to?
You know, yeah, you see those people fighting in stands.
Yes.
Seattle's trying to get a little more proactive about it.
Okay.
They took undercover Seattle police officers.
Yeah, they've been doing this in Philly for years
And put them in San Francisco gear
Okay
All right
Now the San Francisco fan is not inciting anything
They're just
Watching the game
Yeah, they're going on the game
I wonder do they cheer even
Because a lot of times what gets
Starts things is like when something good happens
And then they cheer
You cheer loud for the team
And then that's when you start drawing the iron
People start getting upset
So I wonder if
I wonder how they're conducting themselves
Obviously, I don't think they're picking fights out there.
Yeah, I mean, that would be the bigger story.
That would be the biggest story today.
You want to peace me?
So, again, they're not going to say, let's see how far we can test somebody.
Yeah, right.
But I would assume that there's any cheering at all.
I'm just curious.
I don't know.
I'm just thinking out loud.
I can't imagine if something good happened for the 49ers,
you're just going to sit there and go,
in your face.
No, I'm saying, or doing nothing at all.
Yeah, exactly.
So I don't know.
May you cheer a little bit?
So I was thinking about this is, are you trying to antagonize?
Probably not.
I would say the answer is no.
Yeah, a cop would never look for a fight.
But it is kind of shifty, right?
I've heard about that.
We've heard about that in Philly and other places as well.
I think like they, I think in Philly the cops are getting assaulted.
So what happened in Seattle?
Is everybody all right?
There were some fights.
There are some arrests.
That I don't know.
They're just saying this was a story that they were talking about other cities doing this to kind of try to.
Yeah, I've heard of this before.
Not necessarily point out, but just give off the...
How would you say?
You're not looking for it, but you just want to see what a group of people would do in various parts of the stadium.
An experiment, I guess.
Well, it is an experiment.
I mean, I had never heard of it until I had seen the story in the Today Show.
I didn't know that they were getting so rowdy in Seattle.
Oh, I think it's every city.
It was Seahawks?
Come on, man.
What do you think they're just going to go to the game and drink coffee and enjoy the game?
Yeah, they're hitting somebody with some red hot Starbucks in the face.
They've got Nirvana in their airpiece.
Yes, of course.
In their earbuds?
We don't stereotype on this show at any circumstance.
I mean, that's good.
As long as you publicize it as well,
Of course.
The only thing I'm thinking of is, what are you really trying to do?
Is this all of a sudden going to curtail fans that want to, if they're going to throw hands, it's largely alcohol-infused.
Yeah.
And I think if you were to take five, because, put it this way, how many tickets is the city of Seattle buying?
How many Seahawk tickets are the Seahawks giving the police department where they can frankly sell those tickets?
I mean, if you do this with six people in a 75,000 seat standing,
are you really curving down the potential violence?
That's only that second.
Is the crowd are the crowds too big that you're really,
this little hiding is doing a lot of, you know.
So you saw this, okay, yeah, I saw a story from Philly,
Philly doing that, Philly cops doing that in, as Saints fans,
this is in 2014.
and you said, who did the Seahawks play?
San Francisco.
They did this. Maybe it's Seahawks and Niners.
They did six Seahawks and Niners.
They did this in 2013 as well.
So they had to do it.
They were doing it once every decade?
Seattle Cops in San Francisco gear in 2013.
Yeah.
And then, yeah, I see the Philly.
I'm just trying to look at it.
Yeah, I'd heard of this before.
Like, for instance, there is no Buccaneer fan that's going to be in the stadium this Monday
and that's going to cause any grief.
Now, I've got one friend of my entire.
life who's a Buccaneers fan.
May I be listening now, Dye, shout out to you.
He's been a Bucks fan before the Bucks even were in a team.
He was rooting for Tampa Bay in 1973 and any other team.
Oh, wow.
But I mean, I can't, like, I could see rivalry games.
You may want to do that.
I'd be worried for these cops' health and well-being.
You can get hit with a full beer can or something.
Well, my guess is they're also probably packing.
and he, you know, cops and what are they going to turn around and shoot the can of the air?
Did you tell them that at me?
Yeah, what are you going to do about it?
My name is Sergeant Miller from Seattle PD.
Bye.
You can't arrest one of us.
We thought you were a Niders fan.
Yeah.
Well, it's almost like an undercover prostitution, right?
Basically.
Hmm.
Think about it.
You see a San Francisco fan?
No, I think you solicit prostitutes.
You're chorusing confrontation?
Maybe you're chorusing that in with the prostitution.
You're a good-looking girl.
You're saying it's entrapment.
That's too strong about it.
I don't think it's entrapment.
You're just sitting there watching the game.
Now, if you're like poking people in the chest and then cheering loud,
boorishly.
Yeah.
Acting like a hooligan.
Because I wonder if you give them like a free pass.
Hey, you don't want to fight me.
Why?
Because I'm a police officer.
Okay, thank you.
Goodbye.
Turn around.
My guess is.
And how many cops are there?
That's what I'm saying.
Does, does.
The six cops...
One per section.
The six cops figure it to solve 75,000 seats.
You put it in the news.
It's more about PR, I think.
Correct.
You put it in the news.
You let everybody know,
hey, there's San Francisco 49er fans,
dresses cops.
That's right.
Everybody conduct yourself like adults.
Isn't it funny that we still have to do this in 2025?
Well, here's what I don't understand.
You can't behave yourself in an event that's not cheap.
No one's going to a football game.
Cheaply anymore.
No, you're not.
Hell no.
Certainly not in Seattle either.
There's some bargains to be found in baseball and basketball,
but there's no bargains in football.
Not as much.
Well, if it's end of the season, Texans, maybe.
That's true.
They give away tickets.
Let's talk to Jamal on 790 before we get to gut feelings.
Hello, Jamal.
Hey, hey, how's it going, you guys?
Good.
Good.
This morning.
Before I get in, I was calling in on my ticket and take,
before I get into that,
y'all was talking about the you know the movies earlier the comedies and all that i'll share this about
with you guys uh two movies that i saw on the first time that had me like belly laughing you know
that laugh where you're like crying and you can't breathe i remember as a kid uh going to see happy
gilmore the first time i ever saw happy gilmore i was like this has got to be the funniest
Like the first 45, 50 minutes of that movie, I couldn't.
I was like in a theater just laughing.
I'm like, L-O-L, I loud laughing.
And then two, the first time I've ever,
and I'm not ranking these as the funniest movies ever,
I'm just saying how they made me feel first watch.
And then first watch a cult classic scary movie, the first one.
The first scary movie is hilarious.
I remember going to the Pennsylvania as a kid,
seeing that and I was like
these guys are
these guys are silly
but anywho
on my Texan take for the weekend
I'm gonna just say this and you know
y'all just chime in on it
I'm coming after saying that game
I'm coming in with a very short lease
with the Texans
after it really looked like
more of last season
not being able to get in the end zone
going from 20 to 20
and yeah my my lease is real short so I'm going to give them the first month and if it look like we're going on to a 10 and 6 9 and 7 or whatever type of season and I think the division is going to be more of a challenge this year I think if they don't snap out of it or show or something they can wind up and be owing 2 on Monday night they could be 1 in the first month and think you know people really hit the panic bunny but I'm not going to let them you know drag my emotion
this season, and if I see more of the same, I'm kind of going to disconnect a little bit,
and I get you guys take on that.
Thank you for the phone call.
Let's answer that question coming back.
I don't know if people can disconnect from professional football.
We'll discuss more of that in a minute.
713-212-5-7-90.
Now, could this city do it at Lillisian and others?
I was what I was going to say.
I know, I know.
Answer coming up next.
Got feelings as well.
7-13-21-2-5-7-90.
Listen up girls and boys
This is their gut feeling
on the Matt Thomas show.
All right, let's answer the question first
that we had from our previous caller.
Can Houston, Texas,
check out on the Texans?
Yes.
Has Chicago Bear fan checked out on the Bears
over all these years of utility?
No.
But they're the one-off.
Most fans in 2025
can check out of their team.
Colts fans check out of the Colts fans
check out of the Colts.
Colts, Cardinal fans, Dolphin fans, they lose another game this week.
They may check out on the dolphins after two weeks.
There's very few teams in sports that can survive extended futility.
So that last caller, while I wouldn't check out after O and 2, if they're 3 and 7, yeah, I could see it.
But the Texans are not going to go 3 and 7.
The division won't allow it.
They just won't.
Yeah.
I'm just, okay, and it's week to week, but my confidence level's not high.
I'm feeling like an idiot for having them win 11 games with Joe Mixen hurt.
Joe Mixing is missed.
That's why I couldn't be a fan.
It's a, it's a cathartic situation for me.
Because if I was a fan, I would be losing my mind.
I hated my offensive line, and it didn't get any better.
I'm loving my quarterback
because I want to tell my buddies
who have CJ as a 12th
of 13th ranked quarterback in the NFL
they're wrong and he acted like a 12th of 13th
rank quarterback.
That's the most difficult
part of this all is that
it wasn't a new storyline.
You're like, you know what you're doing, Ross?
You're re-watching the same show on TV
looking for a different ending.
And you know the Seinfeld ending was horrible?
Disagre.
Well, you're in the minority.
I know.
I think it's part of your charm.
And many things.
I know.
You keep watching the Seinfeld final episode, hoping it's going to be great, and it just wasn't.
I keep hoping the last two seasons of House of Cars were going to be better than it was, and it sucked.
I can't speak to that.
Game of Thrones last season blew hard.
All right.
So there you go.
So, yeah, checking out, it's...
Don't make that face, Jonathan.
Well, how did we do last week?
Oh, okay.
Sorry.
By the way,
did you have the two weeks ago ones?
You wrote them down.
Cole and Matt, yeah.
I mean, it's not a big deal.
Whatever.
Last week, Matt Thomas said
touchdown Christian Kirk.
He did not play.
Yeah, that was the loss.
You had the Texans winning 19 to 16.
That wasn't terrible.
I wasn't off too far off.
You had the Astros winning the series
versus the Yankees.
Can we stop now?
I think we're good.
And you had them three and three in their next six.
I want to say they went
two and four. I think you're right about that. And two weeks
ago, Matt, I don't know if you count this as a cash in, but you said if Texans,
like, in order for them to win, CJ has to throw 250 yards.
So I don't know if that's like, you got it right, because he did it. I think so.
I'll give myself a panel back on that one. Thank you. Good job, Matt.
I said the Astros will win the Yankee series. Whoops. I said the Texans will win
23 to 20? No. Whoops. I said Dalton Schultz would get a touchdown. Nope.
Whoops.
You had to be feeling pretty good about
Dalton Shultz after all those catches he made in the first quarter.
Yeah. He went over his two and a half prop. I'm just saying.
Was that one of your picks?
Yes.
That's why you're going to follow you.
I liked it. I really like that side, Matt.
Oh, I wrote, oh, Frankie was here.
Jonathan was out.
Frankie said five touchdowns for Longhorns.
That's a win?
Did they get five?
Oh, they were 30.
By way, Frankie's coming after your job, dude.
I can't hide that anymore.
He's my guy.
Why are you saying that?
He's my guy.
What makes you say that?
I'm just kidding.
Gosh, when you leave Jonathan alone?
I'm sorry, Jonathan.
You have to deal with this person every week.
Very rude, Matt.
Oh, wait, on a non-gut-filling moment,
how did you like the scoreboard crawl on CBS over the weekend?
Upper left-hand corner.
And Fox didn't even put the scores up anymore,
which is really weird.
Everybody's going more minimal.
as more minimalist.
You know why? Because if you want to score, you just
check your phone. You don't need the TV
broadcast, yeah. All right.
I didn't have an issue with it.
Okay, anything else?
Yeah, Arch Manning had five touchdowns by himself.
I'll just be confirming it was five.
Okay, yep. And that's it.
All right. Gut feelings this week.
You went over four, I went over three.
We're combined over seven of gut feelings last week.
I did have the Texans opening the year at three and one.
So I kind of have to stay with that, don't I?
Or am I allowed to change?
You can change.
I can change.
You can change.
The whole world can change.
Texans, it's got feelings, Matt.
Just let your heart sing.
Whatever's in your gut, just say it.
You sure?
Yes.
Here I go.
Three, two, one.
Texans win 2316 over the bucks on Monday night.
And I got no one for you.
2316, Nico Collins finds the end zone.
I like that.
Okay.
I will say.
You know what?
Let me change my score.
Go ahead.
I'll go a little higher.
Good. 30-23.
30 to...
This Houston Texans are...
How many pick sixes do they get?
One.
You got them throwing 30?
Well, they're going to have to, because Baker-Mayfield can score points.
Exactly.
They're going to have to get into a shootout.
They're going to have to figure out of way.
30 to 23 Texans win.
Mecca Buka looking pretty good.
Mike Evans, tough to cover.
Mike Evans, you can't...
Mike Evans is like the Derek Henry receivers.
He don't slow down.
It's terrible.
All right, fine
What's your gut tell you? Go ahead
I don't want to say what we get to tell.
Say it loud, say it loud, say it proud, go.
All right, I'm going to skip the Texans for a minute.
Fraud.
You know, you're not even battle red.
Astros win the series versus, I'm sorry,
how am I supposed to have super high confidence in the Texans
after that of what I just saw on Sunday?
How am I supposed to?
They kick three field goals.
in the first half and then score in the second.
They got worse.
We will have Texans overreaction if they lose next...
I'm not going to be here, but you got to do it next Tuesday, right?
If they lose.
You're not going to be here? No.
I'm skipping the Texans for now.
Okay, continue on.
I'm going to let things marinate for a second.
I need to give you some Astros, don't I?
I got them winning the series against Toronto.
What's up?
Four and two road trip rest of the way.
Four and two. I said it right now.
Three in Toronto, three in Atlanta.
Four and two.
Let's go.
I'm trying to say something positive about Jake Myers.
Is three hits in a series too many?
I mean, too few?
Four hits.
That's fine. That's fine.
Four hits in the Toronto series.
What's up?
I'll let you boy.
Texans beat Colorado by seven.
Boom.
Oh, excuse me.
Houston Cougars.
I was going to say.
That'd be great.
I would hope they beat it by more.
That offense is really sputtering.
I was so proud of myself, too.
Houston Cougars beat Colorado by
Ticket 7-1-3, go coogues.
What's the line on that one?
Six.
Okay.
I will give it a Cougar cover.
Cougar's cover.
Cougars cover.
Okay.
Well, what else you got?
Just say it.
You know what?
Jonathan, say what you got to say
because he's Mr. Scareddy cat over here,
isn't ready to tell you.
That's not feeling good right now.
Go ahead.
I don't think the Houston wins their first three games.
Texans.
Oh, Texans,
O and three?
I think they go O and three.
Ooh, big baby.
You know, maybe they switch up things after
oh and three,
but these first three games
are just looking like it's not going to be,
we're not going to turn this around.
Especially the quarterback,
CJ is talking about
lollygagging and all depressed.
A lot of lollygagging.
A lot of lollygaggin.
I mean, what is that all about?
You know what Lollaggan means?
I know what it means, but I also don't think,
like, was that actually happening?
I mean
Who is not taking the Texans seriously?
All right
Say it
You don't avoid the bigger phone calls
Say it!
Texans lose
23
Mm-hmm
Two
19
I'm sorry
You know you look like a
You feel like a dirty whart on you
I'll be more optimistic
I have to be honest with you people
It's a blessing and a curse.
A lot of times my optimism goes up at the end of the week, though.
Sunday, not feeling good.
Monday, Tuesday, not feeling good.
Maybe by Friday I'll be feeling better.
But I have to be honest with where I'm feeling my gut.
That's what gut feelings are all about.
All of you online.
We'll get to you next, 1143 on Sports Talk 790.
All right, we've got to get these gut feelings in because D'emico's going to be talking in about 10 minutes.
Plus, Ross, we're going to debut our sound effects.
if D'Amico's grumpy with any member of the media.
Now, if we hear a super softball question,
are we going to have a sound effect for that too?
No.
How about this one?
How about this one?
What about that?
Dumbass media.
We'll get some of them.
We'll get them all mixed in.
Let's go the phones.
Take a deep breath, Matt.
Take a deep breath.
I'm fine.
Terry and Cypress.
What's in your gut, Terry?
Hey, Matt, look, it's Terry.
But look, Matt, you know, number one, our main issue,
And I knew this coming into the season was we keep hiring these OCs with no experience.
I don't know if Domeko is leaning on Gary KVAC for some information about bringing in a season veteran offensive coordinator.
That's number one.
That's our issue.
We need a season veteran offensive coordinator that knows the right lineman to put on that line to protect our franchise quarterback,
which has been a failure since Domingo's been here.
And so until they get that corrected, we're going to get the same-o, same-mo in offense.
And then not only that, this defense is built already to get us to a Super Bowl,
but will they carry us teams like Baltimore, or Buffalo, Kansas City, or Denver,
teams that the Texans are going to need to beat to get to that next level?
No, they haven't built the offensive team.
The Ravens and the Bill showed us that Sunday night.
This team is not even ready to compete against Baltimore, who's been a kryptonite since.
I don't know when, how long.
Until they get that offensive coordinator position corrected, we're going to keep getting what we get,
which is the defense is going to do their job.
But how long can that hold up with what they're doing out there with an inexperienced,
offensive coordinator with no experience?
I mean, this is the second guy in the world we didn't brought in here.
I, on paper, thought that this guy, these guys was going to come in here, and then another, he got that New England connection.
Until the Texans cut that New England connection off, you know, this team is not going to move forward with, and then not only that.
The team that's coming to here Monday night, it took Tank Dale the last time they were here for us and CJ to beat them.
And so are we going to put up 28, 35 points that we need to beat the elite teams in the NFL with this team?
where we got in the old line,
man, they need to go back to the allers back when they had
Dawson, Dunley, Flanley, Mag.
All right, Terry, we got a roll man,
because this is, I don't know
what any of that was, but that was just a lot of
offensive line conversation.
So running through the whole.
Got feelings when you make predictions.
You don't give us, I mean, it was, Terry was
passion. I appreciate that, but we're looking for gut feelings,
if you will.
Is right all that down, Rossi?
No.
Anthony and Dare Park.
Anthony, what's in your gut this?
week. Hey, guys. So I got the Astros going 12 and 6 over the last 18 and quite a real less.
Oh, hell yeah. I hope you're right.
Well, hey, my thing is, this is a team with a lot of playoff pedigree, a lot of guys who have
been there done that. And I just think that they find a way to get it done.
Okay. I like it. Thank you very much. 12 and 6. Very, very impressive.
in spring. Gary, what's in your gut?
Hey, guys, that first caller was
not a Gary. That was, look,
here, John. He just did a different
name. I guess he called earlier.
But anyway... Look at here, John's a nice, deep cut,
Gary. That isn't looking
at here. That's a deep, deep cut.
Yeah, that was looking here, John.
Hey, C.J. Stroud was talking about
the lolly gagging. He was talking about
the practices before the game.
But anyway, my gut feeling
is telling me that
the Guinness Book,
representatives are going to be at the Texans football game.
And the fans are going to do the most perfect wave throughout the stadium
and set that new record.
And then all the rest of the NBA teams are going to,
I mean, the NFL teams are going to follow them.
And so that's what's going to happen on Monday night.
What a beautiful wave is going to be.
Thank you, fellas.
Hadn't done the wave in a while at NRG, right?
That normally happened.
They may have two.
May it may have if the Buccaneers are two times.
No, JJ Y got pissed off when it happened.
Yeah.
Thank you, JJ.
He's like, what are y'all doing?
This is a football game.
Bill, what are you calling me before, believe it or not?
What's the matter with you?
I have a good feeling that I'm a win on, believe it at the night today to win some tickets to see the coogers.
Nope, that's not going to happen.
Nope.
It's all all things about Toronto, by the way, I'm believing or not.
So you better get a good study.
Yes.
Oh, you're writing it.
Oh, yeah, you're going to win, Bill.
Yeah, mine are.
Mine are much easier than Rosses, but you're still not winning.
James on 7 out of eight, James, what's in your gut?
My gut feeling is this next two series between Texas and the shadow is going to determine who's going to win the West.
The Astros need to go four and six and they'll go four and six.
Four and six?
Four and two.
Four and two.
Four and two.
And they'll win the West.
They do that.
That's not actually guaranteed, honestly.
in that Texas
Seattle series
not until next week
this week it's Toronto and Atlanta
yes
must win series
don't need to send this segment to Marconi
folks or not
you're fine
let me cut the Terry part out
Roger you're up last
nice you know a lot of that
you just filled right with you guys
my best feeling is
combination of
Luis Garcia
Javier and Alexander
Two of the three pictures are going to have a dominant performance.
I see some sustainable offense happening.
I see how to be breaking out of this level.
And on the strength of those performances,
those picture performance will head me into my next week,
the guttale next week.
All right, guys.
Thank you.
We'll get you a better phone, dude.
It's not like he's in a bathtub all the time.
And look, our phone lines are crap.
But that's not our fault.
By the way, I forgot I had a gut feeling
hit. Go ahead. From June.
What? I said, Travis Hunter,
know how, no way will not
play a season of 100% of the snaps both
ways. They were talking like he was.
Who said that? What?
People after the draft.
Liam Colin was saying, oh, he's going to play both ways.
He played like five defensive snaps.
He's a dirty Irishman. And I said,
and I also said no way, no, I didn't say no way he know how.
I said he won't even play one game of 100% snaps.
Okay.
That's a gut feeling.
Claim your credit.
I am.
I'm glad you did.
All right.
Domingo's up next.
1157 on 790.
This is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
121 on Sports Talk 790.
It is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
We are awaiting Domeico Ryan speaking to the media at NRG.
Well, at least some legit members of the media and others that will be just pretend their media.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-2-5-5.
790. Astros get ready for a series
with the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto, and we'll have
Joe Espada coming up in one half hour from now.
Wonderful. We had a Monday night game last night.
Let's see. Oh, Minnesota in Chicago played,
and the Vikings beat the Bears. We asked for seven phone calls on last night's
game. Yeah, we got four, so we only three more.
That's not true. Not true at all. That's my count.
What show are you? Are you listening to a different show? Are you listening
do W-I-N-D in Chicago?
Maybe.
All right.
Yeah, the bears are really disappointing last night,
Matt against the Vikings.
I don't know if Ben Johnson's all he's cracked up to be.
Things would be better for the bears with one thing, you know, don't you?
Would that be Dicka?
Dicka.
The bears.
He's alive or dead?
Mike Dicka is alive.
Yeah.
I don't know if he knows who he is today.
Yeah.
He's still around, right?
Yeah, but I think he's unfortunately in failing health.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, that's a shame.
All right, 713-212-570.
Are you checking on the website?
How are we doing?
Yeah, I guess I don't see anything right now.
Okay, that's fine.
That's good.
Maybe he's, again, I think D'Amico will be, he's got to spin it properly, right?
It's one week.
He's going to give lots of kudos to the Rams.
Most of the spin is more Sunday afternoon.
Now he's just going to be deflecting.
No, not our guy.
Questions.
No, not our coach.
He wouldn't do that, right?
I hope not.
By the way, Jay sent me an email.
Have you mentioned the Busby lawsuit?
Apparently Kal lied about it leaving an NBA from Rice.
Thanks, Jay, for listening.
We spent, I don't know, 40% of the show about it yesterday.
We talked about it.
Well, okay, it's not that he lied about the NBA.
It's that he was awarded the NBA without earning it, correct?
Correct.
Well, they're saying Rice says you cannot receive.
see an NBA without getting at least a bachelor's and they're trying to figure out where the bachelor's degree is from
whether it's from texas or not yeah well he attended texas he was a walk on on the football team i've seen
the pictures he was yeah look he looked like cow mclair did he have a stash back then i believe so
no i'm gonna try to are you really looking up old photos let me look at yeah look at look at a stash
oh there he is look at young calbert no it's d excuse me
I think it's DeCal McNair.
It's De Calhoun, yes.
De Calhoun.
What'd you call it Calbert?
I was just kidding.
That was not bad.
You had me fooled for a second there.
Daniel Calhoun McNair.
Yes, there has been a lawsuit filed by Tony Busby on behalf of Kerry McNair, who says he was that the NFL and the Texans engineered his ouster from the businesses and the team.
And well, they are threatening legal action.
So we'll see what happens with that.
They're saying $60 million in revenue lost during this time and period of damage is beyond that.
Yeah, there's there. And then there was the accusation in the letter from Tony Buzzbee talking about it being widely known that Cal McNair is unqualified to be an owner's representative.
That's not really even debatable, is it?
That's why Hannah's doing the heavy lifting.
That's why Hannah got...
I wonder if Goodell told Cal, you've got to get Hannah more involved.
Cal McNair is not even a college graduate, yet Cal McNair.
Interestingly now claims he obtained an MBA from the prestigious Rice University,
although the Rice administration office has stated quite clearly that an individual lacking
undergraduate degree is eligible to receive a Rice MBA.
And then the coup de grace in parentheses, perhaps an exception was made for Cal McNair
due to a well-time charitable donation by his parents.
We will figure that out in due course.
Hmm.
All right.
So there you have it.
The conference has started.
We were trying to gather it here.
I don't know what's...
Is it on their YouTube?
I don't see it on the website, quite frankly.
Well, that's what they said they were going to put it on the website?
I'm sorry.
Come on, Houston.
We should ever...
Where's Wack?
Can't Wex use his phone to put it up there?
I hope so.
One thing that Brian McTaggart just put out a minute ago.
That the Astros since sweeping the Dodgers in Los Angeles?
are 23 and 31.
That was July 4th weekend.
Okay, since, okay, so they're what?
23 and 31.
23 and 31.
Yeah.
That's not ideal.
It's not making me feel good about where they're going to be.
No, I mean,
the reality is they are holding on for dear life.
Yeah, what was the analogy you made last week about,
they've got like a quarter tank of,
gas left. Well, they've got 10 miles
to go.
They're coasting downhill
and trying to make it through the season.
All right. We need to pivot to the news
at noon then. If we don't have the press
conference. I don't see it. They lie to us.
They said it's available on their website.
Damn, you Texans.
Stop lying to us.
All right, bring you the news at dude, Matt.
Make it up. Let's go. I'll make it up.
All right, well, some things we just talked about.
Well, it is a new to here on Sports Talk 790,
including your Houston Astros,
facing off against the Blue Jays three games set 607
start this evening on Sports Talk 7.
I will have you for the Astros' 10th inning show
today and tomorrow, Matt.
I will be listening.
And for the on deck on Thursday.
Actually, I'm not.
Carla's got a game that I'm not listening.
That's fine.
I don't worry about it.
So it's Luis Garcia versus Jose Berrios.
And then it's John Alex,
wait, not John.
Jason Alexander.
John Alexander, the Texas B-Reed?
He's going to be on the mound.
He needs some pitching help.
Jason Alexander versus Shane Bieber.
Christian Javier versus Kevin Gousman.
How are we feeling about those three matches?
We're feeling like we're going to score a bunch of runs.
I'm feeling like they're going to be underdogs in all three of those.
Hopefully they can win two of them.
Astros right now with the Rangers and Mariners winning yesterday.
They are two games ahead of the M's and four games ahead of
the Arlington Rangers.
Right now, the Astros still have 87% odds to make the playoffs.
And according to our good friends at Fangraphs,
in order to win the American League West, their odds are 58.8%.
Whose percentage? Do what? Do what?
So in the AOS, the Astros, 58.8%.
It wasn't it like in the 80s for the longest time, too?
They were up seven games like a few weeks.
weeks ago.
I'm not encouraged by that.
Are they going to hold on?
You want a gut feeling that right this minute?
I said that last, didn't I say this last week and I stopped myself that it just feels like
it's not their year with all these injuries?
It just feels like it's not there here.
But I feel like we're going to get, what I don't want is I don't want a month of this
team sucks and this team.
It is what it is.
You can be spoiled.
They're in first place.
They've had a billion injuries, including, I mean, your best.
hitter was out for 100 games.
It's tough.
Osale Tuvay's on the decline.
Carl's Correy is not what he once was.
Is Carl's Korea, by the way, just a 270 hitter with occasional power?
That's what it feels like.
I think he's been slightly better than that in an Asher's uniform.
I don't have to look it up.
I don't know what you're ready for, but it's fine.
Because I'm not totally sure, so this is why I'm doing this.
I've done it myself that way.
On the season, he's hitting 274 with a 719-0.
As a Houston Astro, he's hitting
290 with a 755 OPS.
That's good, but you don't have a bunch of the most feared hitters on the planet.
Which is what this lineup was stacked with five, six years ago.
So we'll see from there.
Elsewhere in the news, Matt, you have Dolphins star Tyreek Hill,
accused of domestic violence by his estranged wife.
She is alleged in court filings that he committed domestic violence
and at least eight different instances.
And it took her now to report this after eight?
Well, I...
You don't know the comment.
Yeah.
It just feels like it's in a large amount.
Well, sometimes, I mean, women...
Whatever.
Okay.
I don't know the details of their relationship, but...
No.
Anyway, sales attorney said in a statement Monday
that the allegations are part of a shakedown.
adding that they are in an attempt to generate bad media coverage for Hill.
Vicaro alleges the first incident occurred in January of 2024 about two months after her marriage to Hill.
Hill has not been criminally charged and was unclear as of Tuesday whether law enforcement was investigating Vicaro's allegations.
Vicaro filed for petition divorce on April 8th one day after police reported a domestic dispute between her and Hill.
Okay, we'll let it play out.
Doesn't sound great.
It feels like, though.
But Tyree Kill, I mean, he also, didn't he throw his in college, throw his pregnant girlfriend downstairs?
Yeah, I don't think he's.
And break.
We have the press conference?
All right, let's go to it then.
Oh, I sure, why not?
Let's see what's going on.
Show up.
Be excited about what we do here, but for our fans to be excited about anything we do here in Houston, the Texans have to play better.
Kim, sorry.
You got it.
Go ahead.
You're going to hear of.
You're sure?
All right.
Get to the questions.
Come on.
Come on.
Go to the question. Let's go.
Coach, I know that there's only been one undefeated team that you had to complete the whole season that, you know, undefeated in 19772 Miami Dolphins, right?
What kind of question is this? Let's go.
Oh, my God.
How much do you emphasize, hey, guys, it's only week one. We still have a whole lot of football left.
How do you tell them, hey, there's just one game that's more past this and get on.
Charles, thank you, man.
That's the nature of our business, right?
Man, you lose, fire everybody, trade every player, right?
You win, going to the Super Bowl.
Like, then the next week, everything.
I get it.
Like, that's the nature of our business.
It's exciting because you have so many different outlets,
so many different people have an opinion.
So many people love football.
So I love the passion.
I love the energy that comes.
with this, right? It's fun, man.
We really enjoy this and we understand
the seriousness of it as well,
right? But to that point, the realistic
point, it's one game.
It's week one. The building
isn't burning down. It's week one.
We go back and
we fix what we need to fix, come out
and do the things that we can control.
That's the main emphasis for this week.
How can we just control the controllables
and press forward?
And now, when you have a chance to truly
compete, now let's see what happens.
All right.
For kind of off-field, but for a player going into year two, right, that's usually like the first off-season where, you know, in college, the local college, right, et cetera, et cetera.
How difficult can that transition be going in the year two where now you have all that free time and now you have to figure out how to structure your off-season to fit, you know, what you're doing where you have a end of the end of our season versus you're going to be.
college and the combine training to OTAs and all that.
What's kind of the difficulty in that?
Year two for a player in our league is a vital year because the offseason is like your first
true offseason where you're not worried about combine, you're not worried about training.
It allows you to fully focus on what do you need to get better at as a football player, right?
And you can feel that time by being around the team training, working on those areas of weakness
and improve yourself.
So I think that's where you see a lot of guys can take a massive jump from year one to year two
because their time is more focused and dialed in on actually football as opposed to just training right before you coming in as a rookie.
Cool.
All right.
Thank you guys.
We got that super late.
Guys, it's only one game of the season and, you know, it's all hard to win in the NFL.
And, you know, nobody thinks you can go 17 or no, coach.
How do you feel about that, coach?
It was like a straight up PR plant.
God, what was that?
That was embarrassing.
And then I started it late.
No, we got the feed late.
That's fine.
Oh, they didn't put it up in time?
No, it's not their fault.
I'm not blaming them.
I'm blaming the dumb-ass questions at the press conferences.
Jesus.
Mm-mm-mm.
Exactly.
Exactly.
How embarrassing.
Well, coach, nobody.
What's your reaction to people getting mad after you,
lost the game. What kind of
dumb-ass question is that? Hi, Ross.
How are you, friend?
We will get you
some quotes from D'Amico
coming up a little bit. The feed was late
to us, which is okay. Not that, nobody's fault.
It's fine.
Coach, you know,
the Pittsburgh Steelers
won four Super Bowls back in the
1970s.
Are you still looking to win your first one,
coach? You know, I
usually try to have to
fixate on the
questions of others, but that was
just that was embarrassing that was it was bad that was the the lobbying of a softball to try to get the
coach to like you it is just it's just our our media market is so embarrassing it just is and i if you
want to call me part of the media embarrassing me mark i'm okay with it but i mean i you do embarrass me
daily i probably do i always have to answer that question in public what's wrong with matt you
you should i'm kidding deep breath a spot i can make him in seven minutes from now okay hey coach you know
it's hard to win a world series.
Hey, coach, you know, you guys aren't going to win 116 games.
Is that who we're going to start every question?
You know, you're going to lose 60.
Minimum.
Minimum.
I've already lost more than that.
Maybe some people don't like, I start a question.
I just think, I don't know, it was just, ugh, nauseating.
And look, every question I ask an athlete or a coach is not the greatest either.
I admit that.
We're all guilty of it.
Yeah, but that was straight boot licking.
Let me give you the quick recap of things.
That was said.
That's fine.
Hey, can you drop those in RCS too?
Let's see.
D'emiko says the Texan's offense has to have a little more urgency.
Okay.
Must get in a huddle a lot quicker so they can make the right reads.
Let's go.
He quote, he says, everything falls on me.
We'll get it fixed.
He was not upset over the aggressive penalty.
He said he was more upset about the pretext.
free snap penalties, the two-week illegal ships, the fall starts, and the encroachment.
D'Amico quoted, aggressive penalties are going to happen.
We're not losing our minds over that.
That Cam Robinson holding on the first play of the game was a horrible call.
Yeah.
Yeah.
DeMico, we've also had some many plays where we were playing behind the sticks.
We did that.
We did so many things we were not trained to do.
It's hard to get the ball to Nico Collins when you're second and 18, third, and 13.
We have positive plays.
It opens up the offense for us.
These are all good stuff.
You got to stay on schedule.
Yeah.
I mean, football is very, very difficult, but it's also simple.
Stay on schedule, get first downs, protect the passer, open up passing lanes.
It's scored points.
Easy game.
Yeah, that's why those coaches put in your 17-hour days.
It's just that easy.
It's funny.
I've never heard of a football coach going to the office at 11, taking a lunch at 1230 and living at 3.
Well, maybe Bill check at UNC.
Yeah, they played Charlotte.
Do you think Bill's like, what am I doing here?
I mean, not any disrespectful to the University of Charlotte,
but it's, it didn't even the...
How did it go? They win?
Yeah, they won, but it took a while.
Was it a tough battle for him?
Honestly, I wasn't paying attention.
Now, from Chapel Hill to Charlotte's about a two-hour drive.
Okay.
So, I mean, what does Belichick like on a bus for a couple of hours?
Sleeping.
You think the girls next to him?
He's in the 70s.
You think the girls with him?
Probably, I would almost guarantee it.
I would almost guarantee it.
because wives usually travel with the coach usually.
Or maybe they got a layer.
Maybe they flew separately.
That's a very Belichick.
No, they met on a plane.
It's romantic for them to be together on the plane that they met on.
Why are you rolling your eyes on it?
That's crazy.
What are you talking about?
True love can be found even when there's 49 years of age difference.
Hey, what's up?
You look really hot on this plane.
My name's Bill Belichick.
Can I have your phone number?
Is that how it went?
You know what?
Your Belichick and my pilot are really one of the same.
It's back a little bit.
I could do it for like two years and then I lost it.
Now it feels like I want to touch you.
Now, folks, we're going to get you up to 31,500 feet.
It should be a fairly smooth flight.
We've got a few showers to dodge around the Rocky Mountains.
But once we get past the Wasatch front, we'll get you into Kansas City.
Right about on time.
I want to have you.
Thank you for flying with us.
Have a great flight.
anything that you or you need from our flight attendants,
this amazing crew, just don't hesitate to ask.
And thanks for flying with us here on Mirate Airlines.
Safe day.
I don't think they were on.
I don't think they were on Mirate Airlines, man.
They weren't meeting on Merritt.
You know, Jonathan, I really could talk like this for the entire flight.
For four hours?
I mean, you're going to put people to sleep.
They're going to have accidents on the road.
Joe spotted with us here on the show.
And Skip, good afternoon to you.
A thought or two about the weekend series.
Darlington, things are getting kind of cozy.
Did you spend Monday looking at Seattle's game?
Or did you?
That's what I'm saying.
I'm doing airline voice and I shouldn't be.
That's ridiculous.
All right.
Joe Espada is up next.
Joe Espada, hopefully we'll be joining us here shortly on the program.
It's 1.30 in the east.
Maybe he's taking a nap or something.
Get a massage at the spa.
I've never gotten a massage in a city outside of Houston.
Isn't that weird?
Yeah, that's usually you're off of Richmond, right?
That is awful.
Absolutely awful.
All right, I'm going to text the PR folks while you promote your Instagram account or something.
You know what?
Yeah, you could follow me at SportsRV on Instagram.
I just posted a little reel of some of my pictures from the McDonald Observatory.
It's in the UT system, and it's one of the darkest skies you can find in the entire country.
Star Party on the New Moon was an exceptional account.
experience. I would love to go back. I had a great time. And I posted some of my photos there on my
Instagram at Sports RV. Also, later today, if I get around to it, I'll be talking a little bit
more about Texans week one and what it means for them going forward. Well, don't do it unless
you can do the All-22 breakdown. I'm not going to do a full All-22 breakdown, but I might have a
little on there. Oh, man. You know, I'm the insider, you're the analyst. Okay, good.
Yeah, there was, I definitely want to highlight one throw that I thought C.J. Stroud made that was exceptional.
We'll be doing that later today at SportsRV on Instagram. I'd appreciate a follow.
I really need it.
Has it really helped?
You've gotten quite a few follows.
Yeah.
People that feel sorry for you.
That's okay. I don't care. Get the numbers up. At Sports RV.
Okay.
We are awaiting and we're going to have some of the highlights from D'Amico's availability at 1 o'clock.
So we'll just get that down.
And then Dimeco and Joe?
Wow.
Well, we got Joe in a couple of minutes, so stand by for that.
What else is going on in the world of sports?
Mention Monday Night game from last night.
Steve Sarkisian's odd behavior at the press conference.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you think if Sarkisian heard what he said, he's like, I don't think I answer that properly.
And I guess the bigger questions, do you think he's oblivious to?
what the video is of Arch
looking like he was really in a lot of pain?
He did some things that I don't like.
And you know, man, I am Longhorn Ross as well.
Yeah.
And I like Steve Sarkeesian.
I think he's a really good play caller.
I think he can get a little too conservative
lean on the defense in big games.
But anyways, I don't like when coaches
bully young reporters like that.
Jim Schlossnagel's done it.
He's with the Longhorns as well.
well. And that was
an intimidation tactic to a
young reporter. It clearly sounded like a young
kid working for the... While being asked a
very fair question.
If there's somebody asking a dumb question or
out of line or pushing boundaries or whatever,
I still don't like it, but I can more
understand it. That's a fair question. That
video is all over Twitter. I had it sent
to me. I think other people have had it
sent to them as well. People are wondering,
is Arch Manning playing hurt?
Or is he okay? So it was a 100%
aboveboard fair question. Then he
tried to, he cut off and tried to intimidate the reporter,
and then he said something really whack about filming people who go in the bathroom.
What the hell is that?
Again, I believe he saw it.
I believe that the reporter, if he would have said the social media video that's going out there,
that would have probably, it would have solved it pretty quick.
But he took advantage of young reporter.
And the reality is now in these college press conferences, you are seeing,
more 19, 20-year-old young people writing for the student newspapers.
Because all the veterans are getting laid off.
Well, yeah, but it's easier not to go to these things.
It's easier just to grab the video and go from there.
Let's spend a few minutes with Joe, a spot of the manager of your Houston Astros, getting ready for,
needless to say, a very important series.
Really, frankly, all of them are important between now and the end of the year.
Skip, it's Matt and Ross.
Good afternoon to you.
Let me ask you, so since,
Brian McTegger put out of stat, since that July 4th sweep, your squad's 29 and 31.
And look, it's kind of felt that way.
But you've been able to maintain first place, and that's the most important thing.
What have you noticed in those last 60 games?
Is it the injury bug has hit?
Has there been too many lapses in offense?
Kind of run us through why this team has been kind of stuck in neutral for the last couple of months.
You know what?
Thank you for having me, guys, by the way.
Sure.
You know, for me, it's a combination of all of those things.
Obviously, we've been injured and we've been banged up,
and we have been able to sustain, you know, good play during those stretches.
You know, I think that there is a moment where we have seen signs of,
okay, here we go.
We can run, you know, four or five wins in a row,
and then there's big some inconsistency with our approach.
and is being able, you know, we haven't been able to put a ton of gains in a row where we can
see our offense really separating yourself from the rest of the league. You know, so I think we're
trying to handle and trying to make some adjustments, you know, right now trying to get our guys
to, you know, be more consistent in the strike zone. You know, we're starting to get some good
starting pitching and there's times where we can be better at, you know, probably taking us
deep in the game. So that inconsistency is something that has been part of our game for the last
couple of weeks. But, you know, we, like you mentioned, it's a very important week. We have the
talent and the desire to do it. And it's just a matter of just put us, put it us all together.
I'm curious, Joe, when you are on an off day on a road trip and you were in Toronto yesterday
and you see a player, do you give that player an opportunity to just get away from the sport,
or do you sometimes take the opportunity if you were to find XYZ player,
whether he is the team leader or he is in a slump or not performing up to your expectations?
Do you pull him aside or do you try to stay away from baseball on the off day?
No, I try to stay away from the game on the off days.
I think it's better to do that maybe on the way from Texas here.
It's an opportunity for me to maybe touch pace with some of the players on the plane while they're trying to relax.
You know, they're relaxing and they're playing cards or they're watching a movie and I ask him if I could go sit next to them and we could have a conversation, something that they can kind of reflect during their off day and they can come back.
Game day, just ready to go.
But, you know, pulling guys to the side on an off day, I don't think it's beneficial for them.
I want him just to relax, disconnect, talk to their parents, you know, talk to their family,
and just relax, get the mind away from the game.
You get Jake Myers back.
A thought or two about his performance, and not that he's the doctor,
you have to rely on your medical staff and your trainers,
but you're also going to be spending some time talking to him about how much he can play
and when you want him out there at 100% because, look, as much as Jake's had a good season,
Jake not being 100% and playing at 70, probably doesn't do you or the team any good at this point.
All right. And especially, especially, you know, the turf in Texas and the turf here in Toronto.
So we are, we keep an eye on him.
My conversations with him and also with the medical department just to make sure that we don't, we build him up to 100%.
But he is feeling good. He's in there tonight.
And, you know, excited to have him.
Really, you know, we really needed him in the center field.
Astros manager Joe Spotted with us here on Sports Talk 790.
since Yordon's come back, he's played a good amount of left field,
obviously with wanting to put Altuve in the designated hair spot as well.
What is that like for you going forward?
Is it more of a fluid situation and plotting that out and planning it out
and trying to figure that out on game-to-game basis?
Yeah, just the fluid situations.
I want to keep both of them, you know, rested and healthy.
You know, Hosey playing some second base also allows me to have your donning
as a DH.
trying to keep them both, obviously, in the lineup and, you know, healthy for the remaining
of the season.
Also, taking into consideration, you know, who we playing, who's pitching for us, the conditions,
like here turf, you know, the condition of this ballpark being a little bit big on left field.
So I'm trying to make sure that I put good defense out there, keep this guys healthy,
and try to keep a good offense on the field.
Does it make it easier to do that with somebody who'll put it on and left?
I'm talking about with somebody like Jake Myers who can cover so much ground and center?
Well, 100%.
You know, I think he helps.
He's helped his immense things.
He can cover some ground.
He's a good communicator.
And the guy in left field knows that he's got someone that could cover his wing.
So it does really helps when you have Jake in center field, yes.
Skip, you've got a balance left of your schedule of teams that are, I mean, seriously in the thick of things.
Seattle and Texas is trying to chase after your championship.
you've got Atlanta, the Angels, and the A's kind of just running their course out.
Is it harder to get guys ready for those types of series where they have as much on the table as you do?
Or is it harder to get guys ready and mentally prepared for teams that are just playing out the streak?
Guys, listen, anything can happen at any given night.
We don't look at Texas any different than we look at the A's and the Angels and the brakes.
right now, every team has a purpose.
They're playing for something.
And is it, you know, playing for next season, you know, winning some spots on the roster,
like some of these younger teams, it don't really matter.
We're trying to win series.
We're trying to win game one pitch at a time, one game at a time.
But anything can happen on any given night on a baseball field.
How are you at the bullpen?
Look, a day off is always a best friend of the bullpen.
And as things shape up, you've got guys in and out, obviously.
Are you watching pitch counts a little bit more?
Are you looking to extend guys a little bit more knowing that these games,
regardless of what they're putting we're just talking about,
obviously mean a lot more as you're trying to hold on in this two-game lead?
You know, the update yesterday, it helped.
We also got some Lent from Hunter and Valdez, which also helped.
You know, going into the series, we're in a pretty good, pretty good shape.
You know, it's nice when we get our starters to give us.
take us into the six innings. That's usually a huge help. But we're just taking one game at a time,
leaning on our offense to, you know, give us some, you know, score some runs and give us an early
lead and getting our starters to settle in and give us some quality innings and then hand the ball off
to our bullpen. That strategy is still the same thing. That's who we are when we plan our best.
And hopefully we could get going this week, very important week for our bowl club.
And it all starts tonight with Luis Garcia. What has he told you about him,
himself since coming back and now healthy and ready to be back in your rotation.
Is he a different pitcher in terms of mindset, pitch selection, velocity?
Or maybe it's just, you know, he's been way a long time and he's just kind of getting back acclimated
pitching at the major league level again.
You know, I think we're not, you know, he's not trying to reinvent himself.
He knows which are his strength and he's weaknesses.
He knows the pitches that he likes to go to ahead of account.
He's always been really good executing a game plan and follow, you know,
know, following a game plan and things are not working, adjusting to that game plan.
He's always been really good at that.
You know, obviously, this is a really good Toronto lineup.
He is going to have to execute and stay away from the middle of the plate to have success.
But one thing about him is that he is healthy.
He feels good.
The feedback that we're getting from him.
It's super positive.
And we're going to, you know, we're going to give him a good game plan and help him execute that one tonight.
Great stuff, as always, Gibb.
Thank you very much for the time.
Best of luck this week, and we will talk to you back in town next Tuesday.
All right, fellas.
Thank you.
I thank you.
Joe Spada, join with us here on Sports Talk 790.
If you want to comment anything he had to say, we can do that.
If you want to get into some Dimeco cuts, we'll have that for you at top of the hour.
We'll have some of the Dimeco stuff for you in about 15 minutes.
It's Sports Talk 790.
713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-790.
If you want to follow us on Twitter, you may do that as well.
at SportsMT at SportsRB.
All right, we are a serious sports show.
People criticize, people call their shows and say,
I wish Matt and Ross would be serious.
Do they really?
Oh, yeah.
They call Sean all the time.
I've never heard that.
Yeah.
Because, well, I mean, I'm not normal.
I get, though, I just had a color just kind of, you know,
Ross say bootlick you a little bit and said that was one of the best interviews
you ever done with a spot-up.
Oh, that was nice.
Timing and rhyming.
That was a really good interview.
Yeah, I mean, we're polite, but we're respectful,
but there were things we want to,
I mean, look, the squad's on first place.
They're not lost 13 in a row.
They're not firing people left and right.
It's fine.
So I was cleaning my daytime route during the commercial break.
I saw the check from Jimmy Kimmel that I have not cashed.
Oh, can I guess how much it is?
47 cents.
Charlton, how much is this check that I have in my hand from Jimmy Kimmel?
He appeared for a few minutes on one episode a while ago.
COVID?
Is it COVID?
Nothing new with COVID.
Uh-uh.
I'm going to go.
15.
Cent or dollars?
$15.
$44.
Oh!
I was so close.
That's nice, man.
They gave you 44 cents?
Yeah.
You get you some double bubble.
This check was dated December 27, 2007, 2004.
Part of me wants never to cash us that her accounts always messed up by 44 cents.
No, you should do it.
then they'll, but then they will just go ahead and say, they'll just void the check.
Excuse me, boy the check after a while.
Jimmy Kimmel gave me 44 cents.
Now, I got more the first time around.
I guess the episode's not running as much as you'd like.
I need to run some more.
Just go to YouTube and get the, you run about 500 more times.
Well, it's funny because they told me what they were going to pay me, and then they sent me the
contract and said, we're going to pay you for every word you said.
So I literally got paid per word.
So probably a cent per word?
I don't even know.
But I just literally found it.
I'm, man, you are on Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman.
What else?
That's it.
Oh, that's good.
I mean, on TV shows I've been on?
Yeah.
Well, Sports Sunday a lot.
Crime stoppers.
No.
America's Most Wanted.
No.
I would like to be on the host of,
a match game because Martin Shorts doing a crappy job.
Peeping Tom's 3.
If people are listening to this show for the very first time,
I think that I must just be the most horrible person in the world.
I think they don't.
It's just two guys ribbon on each other.
Jonathan, do you agree with all the sports RV on this?
You're right.
I'm sorry.
It was Peeping Tom's 4.
Sorry.
I kind of agree.
All right.
Anything you want anything from the,
from the Espotic Conversation game to play?
He's trying to play to even key.
Yeah, I mean, I'm going to be brutally honest with you.
My collar would start to feel a little tighter.
Yeah, look, you can tell.
All that stuff, though, it doesn't matter when they go between the lines.
When these pitchers and these guys, you don't get to the major leagues without having some level of mental toughness.
And I think that's what a lot of the athletes will tell you is that, yes, a lot of the outside noise,
and we can talk about it for four hours on this show.
And maybe they are talking about it and checking Twitter or joking with the trailer.
Like, man, those mariners are getting close and all that type of stuff.
But once you get into your routine, you start warming up, you get ready for the game, the lineups posted,
and then you get in between those lines, they're not thinking about any of that.
They're just trying to go out there and win baseball games.
And hopefully doing a good job of it.
Mariners are won three in a row, Rangers are won two in a row.
I think for mental health, Houston, Texas, we need the Astros to make the playoffs.
I really do.
I don't, if they have held this spot, how long have they been in first place?
Or at least, it's been months, right?
Remember the first, like the first six weeks of the season?
They were, like, playing 500 baseball?
And then in, was it May or June, they just exploded.
They got really good in June.
June was when they were really good, even though they had all the injuries.
And remember, we were sitting there saying, how are they doing this?
How did they keep this up?
Well, the answer was they couldn't.
They couldn't keep it up to the level that they were.
Right.
They're still in first place.
It's still a miracle.
But, yeah, guys are wearing down.
29 and 31 since that July 4th suite.
I mean, look at your, this is your literal rotation for this.
Big Toronto series.
Luis Garcia, who just came off for two years of Tommy John.
Then it's Jason Alexander, who was a journeyman who was DFAed from the A's earlier this year.
And then it's Christian Javier who's coming off of Tommy John.
And you're not sure what he's going to give you.
So, I mean, if I say they lose two out of three of those games, you're going to say that's
some kind of crazy travesty and they're not trying and they're not good?
Or is it just like, I mean, it is what it is?
So what's the best thing?
You know the best thing they got going for him right now?
Honestly, is the fact that Yordon Alvarez
looks like he has been able to sustain a five game a week schedule.
And I wasn't even sure about that.
I tell you, I definitely wasn't sure about that.
Yeah, I wasn't either.
I got him at two home runs.
Was he got three?
Three.
Nice.
But he's getting on base every time.
Not every time.
He's getting on base a ton.
He's walking a lot.
And it's been great.
But everybody else has to fall into place.
You don't know it has to fall into place.
I'm asking, Yordon Alvarez can be the centerpiece of a very good lineup.
He's going to be your best guy. He is your best guy.
But the problem is, you're not asking other guys to be that good.
Is that the guys behind him can't do the job?
Then you're just going to walk Alvarez to you every single time and take your chances.
Yeah, depending on the situation.
Normally, you try to get everybody out.
But yes.
It's easier to walk him when nobody's doing much of anything.
Yeah, you would rather pitch to Christian Walker than you would rather pick in a
in Yanir Diaz
and you would do
Jordan Alvarez.
That's going to go
that's going to
ring true for the rest
of their careers
and for the last six years.
And frankly that's to me
when we're talking about
lineup construction,
I'm not really worried
about El Tuve batting
first, second, third,
Penae.
I'm worried about
who's going to hit
behind Yordan
because if there's no
respect given to that guy
then Yordan's
going to spend an awful
lot of time at first base
and the teams are going
to say we're going to take our chances.
But man,
Christian Walker,
is he not the
epitome of a roller coaster this year.
More down than up, but the ups are like three home runs in four days,
$6.50 road trip, a lot of power.
And then there's nights where you take strike three.
So, I mean, that came earlier this week.
Was it against Texas?
Or who would they play before the Rangers at home?
I don't know what it was.
The Rockies?
No.
Yankees.
It was Yankees.
7-3 bottom of the ninth
bases loaded
Correa strikes out
Walker strikes out
Yeah it was 8 to 4 I was there
8 to 4
I was waiting for the dramatic
That kind of game could have changed
The fortune of the entire season
I don't want to put too much into one game
But I was going to do it anyway
It got my hopes up too
I really thought something good was going to happen
Wouldn't that have not been the
The moment of truth
The moment we were all waiting for
Basis loaded down for
Carlos Correa is up.
He battled.
It was like a full count.
Then he struck out.
And then I believe Christian Walker's three pitches?
Christian Walker is quicker.
For sure.
Final hour.
We'll include some comments from Damiko, NFL Rewa.
What's happening around the NFL?
We'll have that at 120.
Believe it or not, all things about Toronto.
And I'm going to say I'm a fraud because I tried to do, believe it or not today,
but I've just tuned down, unfortunately, and Ross is going to pick up where it left off.
And that's why he's as valuable as it gets here.
And he's a friend of the...
friend of all of us here at Sports Talk 7-9.
Oh, thanks.
This is the Matt Thomas show
with Ross.
I just spent an hour ago
D'Amico Ryan spoke to
the media and, well,
some.
Others are bootlickers.
Your phrase, not mine.
No, gosh. You started it.
I mean,
let's move on.
Are you sure? One comment
and I will not respond.
because I know you love it.
This is Matt goading me because he knows he's going to like what I'm saying.
But I mean, come on.
Invoking the 72 dolphins to like to throw a Tlaba softball.
Get to the question, folks.
Brevity is the soul of press conference questions.
Well said.
As Bill Shakespeare would say.
Bill.
Okay, a lot from Dimeco Ryans.
Let's go ahead and start about the injury updates.
We know that the center, Jake Andrews, got hurt.
and Cade Stover as well.
Here's D'Amico Ryan's on the injuries.
Stover hurt his foot, so he'll be, he'll miss some time.
Really hate that.
He's playing tough, physical, exactly how he wanted done.
He'll miss some time, so we'll have to, you know, upgrade our tight name room from that perspective.
Andrews rolled his ankle, so he'll be day-to-day, see how that goes.
Berrios and Kirk are doing well on their recovery.
We'll see how they go this week.
No time table set right now for those guys.
I believe it was a high ankle sprain as a report for Jake Andrews.
Yeah, but it sounds like a significant period of time.
So they're going to have to go get some serious lineman help right away.
Where?
I mean, can we just, can somebody in our audience back to,
up on this or say, yeah, let's
slow it on a little bit.
That Nick Casario fundamentally
even with the
picking up ursery early in the draft,
even though he went and got
what's Cam Robinson,
that he still didn't address this.
I was listening to the A team yesterday.
I know you do weekdays two to six here on seven.
And Wex is like,
there are teams that fix offensive lines in one season.
This does not have to be a prolonged issue
for this organization.
And it appears, not granted, we're only one game in, things could certainly change the next handful of weeks.
But if this is going to be another offensive line issue, this will be the third year in a row this team has had massive, massive problems on the offensive line.
And somebody has got to be held accountable for this.
Well, that somebody is certainly Nick Casario.
And they did try to address things.
I mean, when you do, the problem is they tried, but they haven't hit.
if Blake Fisher was a hit
at right tackle
Juice Scruggs a second round pick
and Arionte Ursary
I have this crazy notion
folks this crazy thing to shout for the mountaintops
you can hit second round picks
You're supposed to
You can hit second round picks on the offensive line
If you had Blake Fisher
hit Ursery hit
and you're set of the tackle position
and juice scrugs in the middle of the line as well
You're talking about them being at the worst
A mediocre offensive line
So they've tried to address it.
Unfortunately, they've missed from there.
And Blake Fisher's going to end up being a big miss because I was hoping that he was horrible the start of the season last year.
Got a little bit better with an offseason to get better, to get stronger, to get more reps under his belt or whatever.
I was hopeful this whole offseason that Blake Fisher would show us something.
And he's not even sniffing the field.
So we were teasing about Bobby Sloick saying, not my fault.
I wonder how Laramie Towns is feeling after looking at that Texans Rams game.
He's been so, apparently Blake Fisher is so bad that they had to kick Titus Howard in from right tackle to left tackle.
I mean, from right tackle to left guard, I mean, it's just too much.
If they were set, then you could have kept ursary at left tackle and Blake Fisher at right tackle.
But they clearly don't trust that.
That's what I'm saying.
And I'll say this.
If this is all Casario's mastermind plan,
D'emico's doing a really good job of hiding it.
Because if I'm a coach,
and you're giving me these receivers
who are very highly thought of out of Iowa State,
and I have an elite wide receiver, Nico Collins,
and I've got a quarterback who I believe is elite,
and I can't protect him and can't give him past protection,
and I can't move the ball down the field
because of either double guys in motion
or holding penalties or the inability to keep my...
a quarterback upright in a seven-step drop,
I'd start to show some signs.
Like, again, I'm not expecting D'Amico to come out and say,
well, I can't have this team move if I don't have an offensive.
If you didn't give me the groceries, I can't cook.
That's what Nick Cayley is saying.
That's what Bobby Sloak was saying.
But I...
Answer my fundamental question.
Why do other teams, and I can't think of one off the top,
but I mean, things can be repaired.
rather easily in the NFL world.
Frangings and drafts allow you to do that.
I would say, first of all, it's difficult because we're in 32 NFL markets and talking on
the show, we're talking about how important it is to have a great offensive line.
Everybody knows that.
There's no secret.
So everybody's got to have a decent offensive line.
Everybody knows that offensive line is a priority.
Generally in free agency, franchise left tackles generally don't hit the market.
Unless you're going via trade.
Of course, we know with Larry Me Tuntle coming here,
from the Dolphins, but that was also
Bill O'Brien paid above sticker price.
There's two first round picks and made him the highest paid
tackle in football. Yeah, because
he tore up the contract and said, I know I've got
you, I'm going to get you for every dollar
I can. So it's not that easy.
Everybody wants to improve their offensive
line. The free agency market,
you have to find guys who are maybe either
coming off an injury and you feel like they could bounce back,
stuff like that. I mean,
Cam Robinson wasn't horrible
and Ursary needs to be better
and then I'm just really disappointed
that Blake Fisher so far has been a zero.
When I was hoping coming out of Notre Dame
as a rookie, he would be
better than he has been and he just
hasn't contributed at all.
Don't you then evaluate
how you're evaluating that position?
I think he should, and I think they are.
I don't think, Nick's, you think,
now, of course, we can all have our
biases with the decision we made and say,
oh, this went wrong and that went wrong, but I think at some
point he could step back and say, hey, maybe
I'm not doing correct, I'm not evaluating these
offensive linemen correctly.
It's like, for instance, if I was named the general manager of this radio station, I have a pretty good feel of how to program the station, but I don't know the sales aspects of it.
So I would make sure I'd hire the best people that I knew that knew the sales portion of it or the engineering or the facility.
You know what I'm saying?
I just.
And maybe, and maybe Casario is like, we're trying.
We keep going to it.
We're just, there's got, there's a disconnect that is happening between what is being drafted and what is being performed on Sunday, whether it's,
the coaching, and you've already tried to fix that now with the new offensive line coach.
You got rid of your offensive coordinator.
You keep drafting people.
You went and you got rid of what you thought was a problem.
And I don't deny.
I mean, Laramie Tunsell being traded, I think will be a good thing.
Short-term pain for long-term gain.
I feel like I'm a cliche machine.
What's the wrong with me today?
What is wrong with you, Matt?
But the point being is this.
I guarantee you.
I guarantee you that,
What is being publicly said is not how probably is being felt in that locker room about how Laramie Tunsell was.
Lamarie Tunsell was a team leader.
Laramie Tunsell was a captain by default.
Laramie Tunsell was a good pass protection lineman, but he was not a good established run blocker,
and he gave zero craps about being a good teammate and leading by example.
And Domingo doesn't want guys like that.
So I applaud the difficult decision.
But if that was a decision that Rossi that was probably made right after the end of the season, right?
they didn't just wake up on a middle of February
going, hey, we've got to move him.
Then you have to,
then you have to unbelievably
overdraft and overcompensate
to try to replace him.
Give this team options.
Right now, it's like a bagged jigsaw puzzle
with a bunch of
couple of pieces going.
God, I don't want to see.
Oh, Jesus.
Okay, so you're asking me the PFF crates?
Yes, tell me.
And I will stress this is one data point.
One data point.
Not the end point.
These are guys that don't get laid in a regular basis.
And it's one week.
Out of 32, you wanted the Texans to be in the top 25.
I'm talking about Arionte Ursari.
Your second round pick.
Just for reference, this is on a 1 to 100 scale.
100 being awesome, one being sucks.
41.6.
What does that rank among other left tackles slash right tackles?
There were 65 tackles who were 6.
received a grade on Sunday.
And he was?
62nd?
Wait a minute.
I was told all during training camp how awesome Arionte Urstery was.
Why weren't the YouTubers telling me about this?
Go on, keep going.
Do you want to know where Laramie Tunsell was?
Go ahead.
Number seven.
79 grade.
Number one was Armand Mimbu.
He's in the number number six.
pick of the New York Jets.
Well, that's going to happen.
How about the entire grade
as a team? Is there anything that thing?
It's not like a team grade, but I can give you any players grade you want.
Just run through the people we would know.
Cam Robinson 66.
C.J. Strouds, 73. He's 16th
to 32 quarterbacks. That feels about right.
That's mediocre. Didn't win your game. Didn't lose you
the game. Yeah, that feels right.
He'll win you some games this year. Do you know Hunter and
and Will Anderson were the highest rated Texans?
That sounds about right.
Could have told you that before kickoff.
Aziz Al Shahrir had a good game.
How many Tootola was all over the place?
Derek Singley had a bad game.
Yes.
They have him 39.8.
What was Sauce Gardner?
Why?
He's probably worse.
The Jets, the secondary was terrible.
Why are you asking about Saus Garner, man?
Because Thomas Sports Enterprises told you he was the pick.
Well, Derek Singley was first team all pro last week.
Yeah, but last year.
But Saus Garner was rookie of the year defensively.
Yeah, it's okay.
So why did South Garner grade?
I don't know.
I can pull up the cornerbacks in a minute here.
I got tackles pulled up right now.
Don't worry about it.
He was number one.
90.3.
Shut up.
No way.
You're lying.
I'm not lying.
Thomas Sports Enterprises continues to give you information.
Oh, really?
What was Will Levis's grades?
Thomas Sports Enterprises?
Thomas is zero because he's injured.
Oh, what was John Ross's grade sacking groceries?
He was also hurt.
Yeah.
Well, a good pull for you on Kroger because Kroger's a Cincinnati product and John Ross is
is baby with Bengals.
I got lucky.
Yeah, it was.
All right, NFL Rewind is up next.
Or PFF grades.
More terrible PFF grades.
One data point, not the end all be all.
Can you find us a better one?
Better data point?
It's a little more positive.
Yeah, the Ross football-focused grades had Arionte irisorated 85.
115 on Sports Talk 790.
713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-79.
122. It is the Matt Thomas show at Ross every Tuesday at 120.
We'll find out what's happening around the National Football League elsewhere
because if you think things are bad here, it's going to be worse elsewhere?
The answer is yes. South Florida is winging out right now over the Miami Dolphins
massive beatdown over the, by the Indianapolis Colts, a fellow AFC South Pole of the Texans.
did see a report Rossi that
Mike McDaniel could be out in six or seven weeks.
First of all, that's kind of a weirdo
report out. Yeah, timeline.
If you're going to fire somebody,
if they get their ass kicked in three weeks
by a terrible team and they're o' and four,
they can make the move now. There's no reason to wait six or seven.
So I think that report was largely just
a more of assumption rather than based in fact.
But that's just one of the things
that could be a part of the NFL rewind.
Yes, Matthew. Well, we will start with
yesterday's Monday night game.
A comeback victory for the Minnesota Vikings,
27 to 24, over their divisional rival in the Chicago Bears.
Duh, bears lose.
J.J. McCarthy, just 13 and 20 for 143 yards,
but a couple of big touchdowns late in this one.
Caleb Williams had some accuracy issues, have we seen?
Also, threw some dimes.
I mean, he can throw some rockets.
Got a little more touch on the ball here and there.
21 of 35 with one touchdown, no interceptions.
Ben Johnson, in his big debut, a lot of talk of the offseason about him and his offense and how he is the offensive guru that was the engine of the lions who might have, I mean, there might be some argument there, but fell short at home against divisional rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.
What does this mean going forward for Ben Johnson and the Bears?
Um, five and 12?
Well, they would probably hope that they could be better there.
If Caleb Williams continues to overthrow his receivers, they're going to be a massive trouble.
He's freaky-athletic.
And he eludes tacklers and he can keep plays alive.
But the seven-step drop, there were two or three passes last night.
You were just shaking your head over.
You've got to find that, man.
Yeah.
Stepping them in the pocket is an incredibly difficult thing.
But if you can't do it in the NFL and make those throws, you're never going to be super successful.
We just saw a quarterback on Sunday.
My name of Matthew Stafford,
who's made a living stepping up in the pocket,
and feeling the pressure and still making the throws.
He's done it for 60,000 yards.
I would say good, not great,
was Matthew Stafford on Sunday,
but he did get the victory.
The Niners, beset by injuries again.
George Kettle placed on injured reserve
with a hamstring injury.
He is expected to make a full recovery
in four to six weeks,
but they will see there.
They also waived Jake Moody
after Moody missed a 27-yard field goal
and had a 36-yard attempt blocked against Seattle.
Jake Moody has not been good in his Niners tenure.
He was waived.
Also, Brock Purdy as a toe and shoulder injury,
non-throwing shoulder, but also a toe injury for Brock Purdy.
He is questionable next week.
So Niners getting hit by some injuries over there in San Fran.
But still won the game in Seattle last week.
Yes, they did.
even with fake Niners fans dressed up
and they were really Seattle police officers.
Yes.
Did we hear of any incidents?
Like,
we hear anything after that?
No, no.
Somebody get beat up.
No, they were going to show videos.
Did there are a police officer got suplexed anywhere?
No.
Belly to belly?
No, everything is fine.
Everybody behaved themselves.
Okay.
It looks like a great place to watch a game.
All right.
Well, we mentioned this earlier as well,
but it is notable NFL news,
unfortunately.
Tyreek Hill.
accused of domestic violence by his estranged wife, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
Wife Keita Vicaro alleging eight separate incidents of domestic violence and filings related to the couple's divorce case.
She filed the petition for divorce on April 8th one day after police reported a domestic dispute between her and Hill.
Tyreek Hill's attorney saying in a statement to yesterday that the allegations are part of a quote,
shakedown and quote
an attempt to generate bad
media coverage
for Hill.
Nothing we can comment on.
Mm-hmm.
Just an unfortunate situation.
We'll have to wait for all that to shake out, but
Tyreek Hill, of course, does have a
history of domestic incidents.
Yeah, I don't, yeah.
People have talked about him getting traded, possibly,
back to the Kansas City Chiefs. I wonder if this
impacts that at all.
The answer is yes
Especially when the guy that he'd be replacing is out for six weeks
For such similar situations
Yeah
That is true
All right
Elsewhere ESPN
Doing a breakdown for play callers for every
NFL team
Of course breaking down the Houston
Texans first year in this role
He has never called plays
Does have a Patriots background
As we know also John Carroll
Nick Casario
as his bro
key stat that they listed
Kaley's time as a past game coordinator for the Rams
they utilize play action on 32%
of its snaps the third highest rate
in the NFL
Texans 11th in
play action usage last season
but see play action to me is overrated
if you don't have a running back that you
that you can respect actually well
I know you're not going to get mad at the data nerds
data nerds say it actually doesn't matter that much
it's all about just baiting the guys anyways
yeah because you can in theory
if you're an NFL running back on the field,
you have to be considered a potential weapon.
Because when you listen to defensive coordinators
and defensive players, what's the thing
they say they want to do first?
Stop the run. Right. Okay.
I get it. But I'm
trust me, if Damien Pierce is in the background,
I'm not nearly as scared about it, whether it's
Travis Henry. I would say it certainly
can matter, especially
it can creep into your subconscious if somebody,
if you've been getting gashed in the run. I feel like.
Yep. Even though data nerds say that's not
true. But, you know.
I'm just happy that you call them data nerds
You know what's wrong with that
I mean they're not data
They're not data great guys
And you know, gregarious and fun to hang out with
They're nerds
Some of them are very cool
I bet you 10% of them are cool to hang out with
What's wrong with that

I don't want to hang out with those guys
Oh you don't
No that's why we're not friends
That's rude
Nerds can be cool people
Look I was a nerd back in the day
Yeah I was going to say
Look how it turned out
Don't answer that
I wish we were on TV
Massive uptick and kickoff returns
For week one
If we were on TV we couldn't play fifth of Beethoven
So I'm actually happy we're not on TV
We'd play some under instrumental
And the segment wouldn't suffer
I think it adds to the segment though for sure
Okay sure
Oh one other thing I meant to mention
The Giants are sticking with
Russell Wilson
As they're starting a quarterback
Jackson Dart of course waiting in
the wings. Russell Wilson not great in week one. Brian Dable saying Russ will be the starter. He was
17 of 37 for 168 yards with no touchdown. So I was watching Fox NFL Sunday and Aaron Andrews
went to go talk to Russell Wilson, you know, new, new destination. Yeah. I was thinking to myself,
this is a guy hanging on for dear life. You're going to give an entire segment to a New York
giant sucky quarterback. That's Super Bowl.
champion Russell Wilson to you Matt. He was horrendous in Denver. I don't even remember anything
memorable he did in Pittsburgh at all. And he was off to a lousy star with the Giants. He made some big
throws in Pittsburgh. By the way, how did Daniel Jones do in Indianapolis? He was great.
272 yards. Michael Pittman was catching touchdowns. They're saying like Anthony Richardson who.
Who else? They have that young titant? Yeah. Or Anthony Richardson. Not really. He's been
given every opportunity. Yeah, I mean, he made a lot of money. He should have never been.
He's doing third. That's right.
Yeah, I guess he's doing okay.
Yeah, 33 to 8 victory for the Colts over the dolphins.
We're scared?
We're saying, that's what I was going to ask you.
Is it just the dolphins, whatever?
It's week one.
Just week one against the dolphins?
No concern.
Okay.
Just week one.
And that, my friends, is the NFL Rewind.
Nicely done sports, R-B.
Thank you, Matt.
All right.
Believe it or not today is all things about Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
And Drake.
Oh, Drake's getting in the mix on that, too?
No, he's not.

Astros getting ready for a three-game series of Toronto
we got to what we're going to do if the Astros win they were going to find
a Celine Dion is a low-hanging fruit on Canadian superstars right
I thought we were doing Kendrick Distract
Oh that's right
Now what if they lose we could probably do the same thing right
Then we can do Celine Dion, I guess.
She'd probably got some sad music.
Oh, she, I'm sure she does.
I mean, Celine Dion, Powerhouse.
I respect Celine Dion's game.
So, famous Canadian singers, Brian Adams,
Celine Dion.
Drake.
Drake, that's three.
Justin Bieber.
Oh, that's a good one.
Four.
Let me go to Google.
Canadian singers.
Joni Mitchell?
Oh, a Pink Paradise?
Gordon Lightfield.
Foot?
Dead, too.
Sunday.
Avril Levine?
Oh, Lenis Morissette.
We should have got that one.
Neil Young.
Canada's done quite well.
The weekend?
Oh.
Oh.
That's why he and Drake got beef, right?
They got Toronto turf wars.
And by the way, I'm going to leave you a little controversial note before we go to break here.
Oh, Canada.
Better than the Star Spangled Banner.
You've been saying that for years and it's wrong.
Oh, Canada's good.
Oh, Canada is fantastic.
But come on now.
When you go the, oh, say, can you see?
Bring it home.
Land of the free home of the Brave?
Doesn't get any better than that.
God keep our land, glorious and free.
Oh, that's good stuff.
Oh, Canada.
Oh, yeah.
We're going to get you a Mountie outfit.
You're Mr. Canada more than you're Mr. Texas.
I was saying, you know the Canada National Anthem and Don't be Antiladas and call yourself in Texas?
Yeah, he's Mr.
Canada.
You know what?
He loves Tim Hortons.
I do love Tim Hortons.
See?
But there's Tim Hortons and Katie.
Yeah, but where are they from?
Canada.
Okay.
You're Mr.
Actually, I'm going to start campaigning to call you Mr. Canada.
It's false.
133. Come on and join us. Please.
Please, more of you talking to me
and less than to Ross and Jonathan makes me
a much happier man.
713-212-5-7-0.
All right.
I always do this to Ross sometimes
about whether it's sports or life.
I need a ruling here.
I'm here for you, Matthew.
Okay. I know the right answer,
but I want to just humanize it a little bit.
Okay.
All righty.
What do you got for us, Matt?
Right. Missouri played Kansas this weekend in Columbia.
Missouri, Kansas. That's a blood feud, isn't it?
It is a long rivalry that has been...
What they called? The Border War or something like that?
Dormant for a while, but it's back now.
Okay. Okay. Okay.
Missouri won the game 42 to 31.
Shout out to the Tigers.
Cona McGovern.
Cona McGovern's Tigers.
Here's what happened.
The Big 12 says Missouri scored the first touchdown
on a game on a 32-yard run by running back Ahmad Hardy.
After the play, Missouri Center Connor Tallison was flagged for an unsportsmanline conduct.
The 15-yard penalty was assessed on the kickoff.
Does that make sense?
Yes.
Okay.
So Missouri had to kick off from its own 20-yard line.
Missouri, instead of kicking off like usual, Missouri punted to the Jayhawks and the officials
allowed the play to happen.
Teams are required to kick off
of the ball on a tee after a touchdown
from their own 35. As a
safety, teams have the option of kicking
from a tee or punting the ball to their opponents
from their own 20-yard line.
That's only after a
safety, not after a penalty.
So
the Big 12s like,
we goofed, our officials made
a major mistake.
They have suspended the officials
for this week's games.
What's the difference between a drop kick and a punt?
Drop kick has to hit the ground?
On the ground.
Okay.
Don't let the confuse the story, though.
Sorry.
Okay.
So they punted and they should have kicked.
And then they suspended the officials for it.
Yeah, the only time you could punt from the 20 is, again, after a safe date.
That's pretty elementary.
That feels like I've been hearing that for decades.
Hearing, you've seen it.
You're watching a football in your life.
And they suspended the officials for that goof.
I mean, that seems right.
Is that, so is that, is that cut and dry?
You miss it.
Look, they will not fire people for missing, for judgment calls or suspend calls,
but they will suspend your ass for, I mean, that feels kind of minutiae.
Is that a word minutiae?
No.
Manushe.
Or is it pretty cut and dry?
I guess it's pretty cut and dry.
It seems pretty cut and dry.
After a touchdown, you kick the ball off.
So my question is,
How did the...
I'd be alarmed if that happened in peewee.
There's eight guys that are officiate, right?
On a football field?
Sure.
I think it's eight.
How did it all...
Did not one of them just snap to it and say, this is not a safety?
This is just a 50th.
Clearly.
It was like a hot girl in the Jumbotron.
They weren't paying attention.
I don't know.
They have hot girls in Missouri?
Point being is, I kind of feel bad for them.
Because I would frankly like to see officials
punish for bad judgment more so than
oops we goofed
It wasn't like it was
procedural.
Procedural error seems even worse.
I guess you're right about that.
You don't even know the rule.
And like you said, how did everybody let this go?
Did nobody say anything?
Then one guy was like, hey,
they put in the ball.
You know, again, remember, in this world now,
they all wear headsets.
They can all talk to each other?
Absolutely, they can.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Yeah, you've seen guys with the little microphones.
I thought they were just talking to the stadium or whatever,
talking to back to New York.
I don't know who they're talking to.
No, they can, again, I don't know if they have.
working here.
I don't know.
The story that I'm reading from Yahoo says the only logical explanation is that the location
of the kickoff caused confusion and officials didn't realize what happened.
Because of the 15 yards.
They were kicking off from where a safety would be.
That's right.
But man, how does that happen?
Slip to everybody's mind at once.
But eight guys' minds?
That's crazy.
And somebody upstairs?
Maybe one or two spoke up and then, yeah.
Or, yeah.
I don't know.
That seems suspension.
We're going to suspend them for a game.
I mean, you missed a very basic rule of football.
But if you're working Big 12th college football,
that's something.
I mean, I can see that even happening at the sixth grade level.
You know what I mean?
I can see it happening at sixth grade level,
but we would all be in the stands like,
what is this?
Why are they punting?
We would all be confused.
All I will say is,
and I mean, it's in all sincerity.
Thank God it didn't.
This didn't happen at a later point in the game
where it could have obviously turned things around.
That's true.
And I just thought it was not ill time, but just a little weird that, oh, you see Big 12 suspension.
Maybe somebody had a tie to the school or something.
No, it's just because gambling controversy.
That was my first thought when you said it.
Isn't that funny how everybody thinks that too?
That is crazy.
All right.
So the Texans are off.
I think they're, I think they're in the practice.
Let me look at their schedule this week because it's a little wonky because of the skimmon off there.
No, I don't clear their heads.
I'm not doing, no, they have their off day.
They are practicing, no, they're off tomorrow.
Okay.
How's the, how's the WEC's going to handle all this?
He loves going to practice.
What's he going to, is he going to leave the A team early on Monday?
Games at six.
Do you're going to call in on the way?
You know that Kirby traffic ain't easy.
If he left here at six.
You try to get to, you try to get to NRG from here on the going down West Loop at 5 o'clock.
Woo!
Will Wex, Meg.
of the game. The answer is 100% yes.
The question is going to be when will he arrive?
The third quarter?
All right. Believe it or not, all things about Toronto.

Okay. Maybe
Yeah, we'll figure it out.
Texans are receiving a little bit of bad news.
Actually, the Texans aren't.
It's Hannah and Cal.
City of Denver is going to build a new stadium for the Denver Broncos in 2013.
It's going to be a retractable roof.
And no additional taxes will be used to fund said stadium.
It'll be all privately funded.
Now, they're going to probably get some kickbacks on the space.
They're going to build a downtown development around it,
you know, kind of restaurant, shops, bars, that kind of thing.
But, yeah, no new tax dollars to be used towards a new facility.
That's okay with it.
I'm okay with that.
I got news for you.
Denver would pay, those Bronco fans would pay crazy money to keep that team there.
I mean, the owners could say, we're not paying a dime.
You want the Broncos to stay.
You got to build a stadium.
Well, they got three Super Bowls?
It's intense there.
We've seen this with the Astros.
You want your town to fall in love with you and support you till no end?
Yep.
You got to win.
Got to win, baby.
We did obligatory Astros call, Maddie.
You know very well.
I think I created the obligatory Astros call.
You did.
Why did we create it?
Because nobody was talking about the team.
There's Astros love, but obviously has gotten an understanding.
a lot deeper
and wider?
Wider or wider?
Wider and deeper.
Why do you care what the skin color of the fans?
It's getting very deep and wide the last several years, Matt.
