is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
H-Town. Good morning and welcome to a Wednesday edition,
a smaller-sized edition of the Matt Thomas show at Ross.
This is Sports Talk 790.
All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa was scratched about an hour before the gang with a left ankle injury.
And MLB.com is reporting now that the injury is significant.
In fact, the injury is so significant, Correa will miss weeks, if not months,
of the season.
Why can't we have it all,
sports, Harvey?
It's Houston, Texas.
We just can't have nice things.
And E-May...
And not E-May.
Thansa E-Mai sucks, too.
Now he's complaining about the pitch clock.
Jesus.
I mean, my God.
We just can't have nice things.
We just can't.
He's adjusting.
He's adjusting.
He's a wallflower.
You know it.
Say it.
A wallflower?
No.
I don't know that.
He's a dandelion.
A dandelion?
Yeah.
You go walk up to him and tell him he's a dandelion.
He wouldn't understand what I was saying.
Okay.
You get the translator.
You tell the translator you say he's a wallflower.
What is he?
Adjusting?
Yes.
May 6th.
He only allowed one run.
Okay.
Pitch count?
High.
Walk rate?
63 and three innings isn't terrible.
I mean, okay, it's not good, but it's not the worst I've ever heard of.
It's just a combination of things.
It just is.
To be fair, it is not about email by itself.
But it's a large part of it.
I know.
You've been really riding the guy since you came up here.
Well, I want him to be successful.
The Astro spent $18 million on the cat.
And probably going to spend other $18 million next year.
18 million is not that much.
The end of the day.
Frommers getting ejected from games and he's making what?
Yeah.
That's true.
By the way, we have two different versions of the antics of Fraber Valdez,
the Boston TV version and the Detroit TV version.
Do you think they're on the same lines of thinking here, sportserva?
I'm going to say probably not.
Probably not.
Well, hey, by the way, good morning to everybody.
Ross, how would you trip to Austin have a good time?
Yeah, sure.
All right, I guess you don't want to talk about it.
That's fine.
So the Astros with the win yesterday, awesome victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
As everybody knew Peter Lambert was going to outperform Shohei Otani.
Of course.
Because Lambert Mania is running wild.
Yeah, I call him Peter Lambo.
Is that what you called him?
Yeah.
I got you.
The Astros got just enough hitting.
Got great pitching.
Seven innings from Lambert.
Two innings from Brian King as well.
Even the series.
Some are saying victory of the year.
You know, it's a Dodgers.
It's a World Series title contending team.
Are some of saying that?
Who is?
You said, who's saying victory of the year?
I think if you went on the social media streets.
Okay, good.
And I think the TV broadcasted it too.
Well, this series is squared.
Oh, yes. I'll take it.
All right.
Look, I'm a little punch drunk.
Oh, really? What happened?
You're up a long day yesterday.
Oh, Cinco de Mayo. You were up hitting the Ritas or something?
I don't think, oh, man, I did Cinco de Mayo, believe it or not.
And I think we could use that topic like five times.
Oh, really? Why?
There's just so much you can do about Sinketamio.
Okay.
You talk about the Battle of Pueblo?
A little babel of Pueblo.
A little about the Mola that you're supposed to have,
a little dark chocolate sauce.
You're supposed to put it to the official food.
I said pork tamale.
Nobody believed me on that, but that's fine.
Hmm.
Okay.
All right.
So we have an Astro's shorter show today
because they play the day game against the Dodgers.
And Lance McCullors, our hero.
Number three starter for the Astros and a playoff rotation
behind Araggetty and Lambert, safe to say.
Okay, I mean,
running low on options.
Yeah.
But Lambert's the goat now.
Yeah, he is.
He was spectacular.
You'll hear a little bit from him
on the on deck show.
We were going to play Dana Brown
during On Deck today,
but Dana has begged out
because I'm sure he doesn't want to talk about
the very unfortunate news
about Carlos Corrie.
Let me paint the scene for y'all.
I did the On Deck show
for the ballpark yesterday at 6 o'clock,
and literally as I'm saying,
hey, everybody, how y'all doing?
It's Astros on deck.
I'm hearing the internal PA announcer saying there's been a lineup change.
And I'm thinking, okay, maybe it's just a guy needs a day off or maybe something with the Dodgers.
It was no.
Carlos Correa has been pulled and you're going to see a new shortstop and a new third basement.
By the way, the third basement is a home run yesterday.
That was good.
And then Brian McTagger gets on his video phone and starts talking about it's a serious, serious angle injury.
They're getting tests on it this morning.
And it sounds like to me Sports Harvey that it will not.
be a short-term departure for Carlos Cray in the everyday lineup.
Yeah, weeks to months.
Sounds not fun.
And hopefully we'll get some more details on it.
Yeah, and if the Astros are, you know, Joe Spottal, we'll meet with the media here coming
up barely shortly.
And if we can pull something from that, we will be able to give you an update.
But my guess is he doesn't have a lot.
It's 10 o'clock in the morning.
It was a day game after a night game.
And let's face it, the Astros don't want to necessarily, you know, put the manager
out there to say, hey, we're losing another part of our in.
infield for a long,
lengthy period of time.
That means both parts of the infield.
Jeremy Pena, injured list,
and has been there for a while in Carlos Correa.
That's why he went with,
couldn't we almost have it all?
We almost had it all yesterday.
We almost did.
By the way, for those of you wondering,
because I was,
the San Francisco Giants,
if you recall, failed Correa on a physical
because of his ankle.
Yeah.
It was his right ankle,
and this issue is his left ankle.
So,
I mean, this is, you know,
this is, Ross,
this is the second straight day
that an astro has been hurt.
during batting cage time.
Yanar-Diaz two days ago going on the injure list.
Happened during the batting practice.
What is going on?
Is there like warfare down there?
I don't know.
Is there like a minefield?
Is that what you're saying?
Why aren't the Dodgers getting hurt?
I don't know.
Is there a, what is it, the electrical grid
that's causing the 49ers all their injuries?
Are they near an electrical grid in downtown Houston?
Maybe Diken Park should be considered.
a toxic environment.
Something ain't right.
Sometimes isn't the water.
Yeah, I don't know what it is because it's a beautiful ballpark.
It's great.
You know what I'm talking about this today?
It's held up well among other ballparks.
They constantly refurbish it.
It's not like this bumpy gravel on the ground.
It's not like they're not taking care of it.
It's not broken glass in the field?
Yeah.
In the cages?
You know, it's not Ebbets Field in 1954.
I mean, you know.
This is utterly ridiculous.
And then you get the word that Josh Hader's doing his thing at AAA.
Nate Pearson gave up a bunch, but Nate Pearson doesn't have the same expectation level.
Tatsu what he wants to give him four or five innings, get his mojo back, and he can't give you that.
And he walked five batters.
Maybe that triple S strikes outing.
It's better than his first outing.
So you're encouraged.
Yes.
You might be the only one.
Okay, good.
I choose to be positive.
I choose to be realistic.
I know.
Well, he's going to come up and maybe he'll fail.
I mean, if it's a disaster, I guess it's a disaster.
So what?
Like, I don't know.
I'm not super worried about it because he hasn't contributed it all to the season.
So, I mean, yeah, if he comes up and doesn't contribute, then it's like the rest of the season.
He's just not there.
He's been a non-factor all season long.
So if he comes up and he's a non-factor or worse,
it is what it is, but you invested in him
and you did say goodbye to Framber about this,
which probably was the right thing to do,
especially after what he did last night.
Or Framber's still been better than Tatsui E.
My! Let's check their war.
Oh, Lord!
And how about A.J. Hinch, not necessarily endorsing
the way that Framber acted again.
We'll tell you what happened in that game yesterday.
We got a lot of things going on on a short show today.
Again, Brian Boga-Sovic, normally with us at 11 o'clock.
I'm going to join us today at
Noon right at the top of the Astros on deck.
We have the game three of the Dodgers and Astros.
We'll have it for you at a 110 first pitch.
We have, what else we got going on?
We mentioned Fromber.
Joseo Tuvae's swing.
We haven't mentioned that.
It's funny because I asked yesterday Joe a spot about him being in the five-hole position.
And that lasted a couple days because, you know, he's back leading off now.
What do you do for the lead-off spot if Carlos Cray is going to miss a significant period of time?
And Jerry Payne is not ready to come back just yet.
I don't know.
I mean, I guess you keep Al Tuve there.
Paratus gets on base some, but he's not fast.
Right.
Altuva is not getting on base, and he's, I mean, not that fast these days.
Right.
Hmm.
I would probably go Paratus.
Just because he does get on base.
Yeah, I don't know if the lineup cards are out just yet.
Even if he's not a speedster.
Yeah.
At least he gets on base.
Mm-mm-mm.
I mean, honestly, I mean, it.
It wouldn't be the craziest thing in the history of the world to put Yord on up there.
Gets on baseball than anybody.
He'll get more A-Bs than anybody.
That would be the most atypical lead-off hitter, maybe in Major League Baseball history, right?
I mean, Joey Otani's led off a lot for the Dodgers.
Not even batten much anymore now, especially on days he's not even pitching.
He's pitching, so.
You know, it's funny.
I think now O-Tani is like 3-7 against the Astros as a pitcher.
A lot of that was against it was an angel, so that may not count, but did anybody?
I don't know.
How did Vegas feel about Peter Lambert
versus Shoahe-Hautani with a guy
with Otani's ERA of 0.6?
I'm going to imagine they were about
two-to-one favorites.
That's what they are in the other two games.
I can go look this up.
Yeah.
I didn't check it sometimes.
I was out of town, so I didn't check the orange.
That's fine.
So the Astros to get the victory,
we will get to that.
Yeah, minus 2-27.
So about two-to-one.
Yep.
Framberg got tossed.
We've got some other non-baseball things to get to,
including the college football playoff,
Ross.
I'm going to take an L on my gut feelings.
It sounds like the 2014 team playoff
is coming sooner, rather than later?
You said never.
You said never in the history of college students.
I'm taking the loss. I'm taking the loss.
You know what? I got to have opinions.
I know. Matt.
Got to have him.
I can be immediately, man.
If you're going to get him a big damn, take the offense,
I'm not going to say a few things.
I'm not going to bet a thousand.
I'm going to try, though. I'm going to keep swinging.
Yeah. I got you. You're going to keep out too vague.
I'm going to keep out too vague.
That feels unfair, but accurate.
that's terrible
Lakers last night
played like they were going to
supposed to against the Thunder
even though
y'all didn't watch it
and shake you'll go to South Alexander
was just mid
and we had the end
speaking of the NBA we have a list
according to the athletic Ross
of the most overrated player in the NBA
saw that
is it overrated or just
over-talkative
what do you mean
like do guys
I think players don't
like it when they bitch about every call.
And I think that's part of the reason why we're getting one of our favorite players in the NBA
on that list.
Was Draymond on the list?
LeBron on the list?
He complains a lot.
Okay, maybe not.
But we have a Houston local title of that, unfortunately.
713-212-5-790.
Well, we're trying to figure out who the starting line of would be today against Tyler
Glass now, who has got an earning.
of 260 hasn't lost yet.
It's Matt and Ross with you on Sports Talk 790.
It's 713-212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-79.
The answer to your lead-off guy tonight is, or today,
second baseman Bryce Matthews.
Friend of the show.
Hitting 211 with an e-on-base of 288.
OPS 682, but again, looking for good vibes
after an appearance on the show yesterday.
Jordan Alvarez,
Issaq Perreth,
middle three Walker,
Cam Smith,
Zach Coles batting sixth.
Zach Desenzo,
fresh off the injured list.
Fresh playing his first game for the Astros
will bat seventh.
Braden Shumake, who had a home run
yesterday, is going to bat eighth.
Yes.
So we're feeling good about that
with a little Apo Taco yesterday,
and then Cesar Salazar,
he's going to catch and bat night.
today. His first appearance for
2006.
This sounds like a
grapefruit league lineup, quite
frankly. March 14th,
Astrospring Training Baseball
on Sports Talk 7th. In Beautiful
West Palm. Yes, we are in,
we're in Jupiter today.
All right. Let's go.
Why is everybody
hurt? What is going on
out here? Yeah, right.
And how do you hurt
yourself so bad in the damn cage?
I don't know.
Like a significant ankle injury?
Significant. Is he going to be hanging out with Stephen Adams?
That's not seeing two weeks. I mean,
again, we're probably not going to know anything for at least 24 hours.
Well, you know, the team's going to go to Cincinnati after today's game for the series.
It starts Friday. So it may not be until Friday or maybe very early as after the game today.
but for Jesus
I mean
Don't you want to go
I mean I don't know how you all
I mean I know how a lot of you feel about Joe Espada
and a lot of you feel about Dana Brown
But don't you want to go hug him and say
Man y'all are just getting some terrible breaks here
Literally
And I mean the jobs of Dana and Joe Spatter are on the line
And I literally
Yeah
I've we've seen it before
Matt
we're like, man, the, you know, the circumstances
were great and there's a lot of injuries and this and this
and this, but it's also a bottom line business.
And I'm not saying Crane's going to do that?
I mean, well, Crane let go with general manager
after winning the World Series.
Yes.
There are no parameters that are out of bounds.
Right.
I just,
I just feel for the guys.
Because sometimes things are out of your control
and there's got to be a fall guy
for results that, I mean, look,
as of this moment, I'm not predicting to make the playoffs.
Pitching's been a disaster and everybody's hurt.
I mean, this is, I mean, and look, Ross and I love the Astros.
And we are, of course, we want them to be, this is not a major league lineup out there today.
Against one of the best pitchers in baseball.
This is not a major league lineup.
It's a 4A lineup.
Yeah, it's a, it's a great fruit league lineup.
It's it, we're getting the guys ready to go in April.
We're in the middle of March lineup.
Desenzo Shoemake and Salazar make up your 7-8-9.
Cole, who just played his second game for the Astros yesterday, is your six-hitter.
Bryce Matthews leading off.
I mean, 234 has been good.
Yes.
Altubian is an off day.
I mean, he just does.
It is what it is.
He's slumping badly.
He's hitting like 240.
I don't even want to look at his OPS.
Don't then.
You know I'm going to.
And then, so now here's another thing, going back to the EMI situation for a second.
Who pushed it?
If, was it Dana?
Was it Jim?
Was it Dykin?
I mean, all the above?
All the above?
Does somebody want to rid their hands of this?
Say, hey, I didn't want this guy.
Or, hey, this is too much money.
Or, hey, we heard through the grapevine that he doesn't like being in the United States.
This is Scott, how much of this is on Scott Boris, honestly?
How much is on the player?
I mean, there's a variety of angles of this.
He does have to adjust for.
a lot, but you figured he would be
further along in his adjustment.
I mean, everything he's kind of talked about and said
are things he has to adjust to.
But it's also, I mean, we're
in the middle of May. How long does that take?
Are the Astros
culpable in this, in
the lack of adjustment and not having him better prepared?
Because we've talked about this
being the first player they brought over straight
from Japan ever in their history. So was
there some fumbling on their end?
To where bases weren't covered for
everything he said. Slope of the mound.
weather, pitch clock, all the wind, whenever he's eating.
I don't know. Or is he pouting like you're saying?
Or is it a bit of both? I don't know.
To be completely fair, we don't know the answer.
Yeah.
Because if we went to five different groups, if we, Jim Crane invited us to lunch today, Rossi, he'd give us one thing.
If Dykin gave us and took us to lunch, it'd be another thing.
Hope we can Eric and a shot of it.
If the Astros medical staff took us.
If Joe Espada took us, if Dana Bryant, we'd have five.
my thought is there would be
because I think look at in real life business
if you make a hire in your company
and it doesn't work and you got a bunch of people involved in the hiring
you're all going to try to separate yourself
from it
so I don't know who to believe
it would be only to be the people I would believe
would be the ones that would be one of tell me
and since the Astros are going to remain quiet on it
either in consensus to say don't discuss it at all
or B we really know what's really going on
we've got to protect the player or protect ourselves.
And everybody adjust to every, I mean, even if like you go on a trip to like Europe with four
different people, Matt, if you went with your whole family, everybody would adjust and
acclimate to the time change and whatever differently.
Yes.
Some people, I'll tell you, when I went to Asia, there was a certain person in our party who,
well, wasn't able to go for a few days, stuff like that.
Okay?
Everybody adjust differently.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, man.
And I don't even care about the money, honestly, Ross.
about you needed him.
No, yeah. I don't care about the money either.
You need a starter. You said goodbye
to Framber, which was the right thing to do.
You were hoping that Javier was going to come back.
You did not anticipate Hunter Brown being hurt.
You did not anticipate that, well, you kind of
anticipated that Spencer would be, or
that Spencer would come back, hopefully.
You kind of knew what Lance McCuller's was going to be.
I mean, this is,
he was penciled
in. The organization
loved him.
They've spent, they, weeks,
showing him around and bragging about
look at this acquisition the Astros
Yeah, he was at RG Stadium. He looked well-adjusted.
It's not just him, but it just compounds the problem.
Yes. And again, we must give him credit.
People say, what's going on? I don't like the mound.
I don't like the pit. I mean, it's
it's one after the other.
Yeah, and maybe he's just an honest person.
And maybe there are people
who would be like, you know, I'm just having my own issues.
I'm just adjusting.
Or maybe some things are being lost in translation,
which apparently has been hinted at as well.
Those three translators.
Oof.
You can get you in there, Matt.
How's your Japanese?
Limited.
Okay.
713-212-579 if you want to join us.
7-13-212-5-7-9.
We've got shut-your-bum-ass up at 1130.
I'm afraid we're going to get some Tatsu-e-e-mi people calling in with a little shut-your-bum-ass up.
Because it is...
Tat-a-Mai is calling in?
No, I think...
Oh.
I think maybe his attractors may be calling it.
Because here's the reality of it, Ross, no matter what it is, it's something new every single time.
Yeah, but still, at the end of the day, he improved significantly from his first start.
If he can iron out the walks, look, if I had just told you the pitching line,
pitcher B just had his second rehab start, three innings, one hit, one run.
Three strikeouts, okay, five walks, okay, he's got to iron that out.
You wouldn't think too much of it with no context.
All right. Breaking news on Carl's Correa next.
Oh, Christ.
1031 on Sports Talk, 7-9, with a word for Serta Pro painters.
Jonathan, give me some doom and gloom music, ready to go.
We'll have it.
We're not going to doom and gloom on Sertor Pro, though.
We love Sertor Pro, C-E-R-T-A-P-R-O.
All right, hit the breaking news.
How many have we got?
I intentionally have not looked.
Hit it again.
Oh, my God.
Get it again.
Oh, no.
All right, I'm going to guess then.
You're going to guess right.
You get one guess or one guess.
Oh, my God, four?
Season ending serving in his left ankle.
Why?
Recovery is six to eight months.
I mean, come on.
Oh, my God.
Hang them up.
Forfeit the season.
Nick Allen, here we go.
No, Esog Paredes.
What's it going on with Jeremy Pena?
Is he okay?
He's got to run some bases.
Did I miss something when I was out of town?
Did he like rip anything off the bone?
Is he all right?
Jeremy Payne back.
Esok Paredes at third.
We're all good.
Well, there goes E Soxar Pardis trade conversations.
That is cut.
See, good thing they didn't move them.
Well, they kind of, there was no need.
to move. They had no healthy players start the season. Good move them.
What the hell's going on out here? What happened?
He says he was in the batting cage yesterday, took a swing, and felt a pop and went down in pain.
Oh my God. Just from swinging a bat?
I would assume not even a hard bat, right?
Like a fungo bat? Oh my gosh. By the way, he is signed.
he's got vesting through 2029.
Yeah, but those are like he's got to get MVP votes or something.
Right.
I think we're good.
So he is on the hook for the Astros through 2028.
Yeah, I believe he does it.
Two more years without vesting options, I think.
Yeah, the first investing is 2029.
Yeah, so.
So he ain't going anywhere.
Even if they have a lockout, he's going to be around.
Yeah, let's see.
A guaranteed, oh, well, it says 575 plate appearances.
Why, he could do that, I guess, but probably.
not at 34.
A top five
in MVP
World Series or
LCS MVP
probably safe on the vesting options.
But still on the hook through
2028.
Right.
For two more years.
Okay, so his
right ankle didn't pass a physical and his left
ankles got shredded.
And he's where he wears a back brace everywhere.
Yeah.
Okay. It's cool.
I mean, I don't know.
I mean, we're not supposed to be
speechless because we're to a radio show,
but we're speechless.
No problem. It's fine.
It's not fine. This sucks.
He played two positions for you.
Great leader.
Good leader.
Now, the bat has dropped off a little bit,
but he had occasional pop.
But you weren't embarrassed to put him out
in the lineup every single day.
Houston, come on.
Say something.
I mean, I can go to 2014 playoff talk.
I can go to Alperin Schingun's most over-hearted player in the NBA.
We can do that.
I mean, I don't want to, but let me hear your raw emotions.
I got Emi who hates the bump, hates the pitch clock.
I got Correa who hates swinging.
I got Nick Allen, who I'm going to finally pronounce his name correctly
because he's going to be playing every day,
who just came out the injure list, Rossi, by the way,
just a few days ago.
I got Shea Whitcomb getting his first A-Bs of the year.
Shea Whitcomb.
And oh, by the way, you got Dana Brown and Joe a spot of fighting for their manager for their professional careers in Houston, Texas.
Now, they ain't sweating.
They're both highly compensated.
They'll both get jobs again.
Well, I know I miss gut feelings yesterday, but I'm going to just go ahead and say it.
I think they're both gone at this point because it just feels like a disaster season that Jim Crane is going to want to full.
lush. That's my gut feeling right now.
We just got the Korea news, so I reserve the right to change it, but it's not good.
I know, I know. It's not good.
Sex and training camp coming up?
I don't know.
C.J. Strideworths $60 million a year, 713, 212, 5, 790.
We look, we love the Astros.
It's in our best interest for the Astros to be good because we're fans.
So he got a grade three, basically, ankle sprain or something?
Like I said, Stephen Adams, I thought I was joking.
when I said he's going to be hanging out with Stephen Adams.
Yeah, I'm not sure Stephen Adams will be ready for the start of next season.
They're going to be swapping recovery tips.
What the hell?
Ooh, I almost cursed.
Worse.
I don't want you cursing.
Carlos Cray's out for the season, Matt.
All right, curse.
I don't care.
Yeah, FCC'd be the end.
They don't have anybody to play.
You see this lineup?
Saazar's back.
Not our D.S. is hurt.
Cherry Pah's hamstrings falling off.
Where's Maurice you do, Bob?
No, we had a pitch clock.
He doesn't like a hard mound.
He likes a soft mound.
And get him out there with a little shovel, a little gardening tools.
Yeah, maybe some fertilizer or something.
No, whatever.
This is terrible.
We're going to discuss Texas offensive line.
I'm down to do that.
It's the most thing I can be most positive about.
That's true.
Unless you want to talk about the Rockets off.
off season.
Taylor Brown wants to leave the Celtics.
How's everyone loving Rafael
Stone's comments? How was that yesterday?
What do we get a new support survey?
I didn't listen to the show.
You'll talk much about Raphael Stone, blowback?
We tried.
Oh, man.
Let's go to the phones.
7-13-212-5-7-0.
We'll do it next.
Top of the hour.
Cool.
We're not going to talk to Brian Vogue.
We'll talk to him at noon. We got shut your bum-ass up.
1130.
I'm going to tell the physical.
I'm going to tell anybody that's within 500 feet of Dike and Park to shut their bum asses up.
Because, man, every time you walk over or side, you know what, I'm not going to any more games.
I'm done.
I'm not going to get that bad juju on my body.
Hmm.
And by the way, it was Sikkimai on.
Yesterday, they served a smothered chicken in the immediate dining.
Can we get, we localize it a little bit?
That's good.
It was good at peppers and onions.
It was good.
It was delicious, nice brown gravy, if you will.
Peppers and onions.
Nice, delicious brown gravy.
It was just Sally made a great, um, Sicker on my own meal for the family.
You know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to talk Mac Brown for four months.
It's easier.
Don't do it.
Yeah, we're just going to play depressing music for, I don't know, Ross with the next four months.
Feel good?
No, it doesn't feel good, Matt.
Feels horrible.
Descending down the depths of infinite sadness on the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
What's the saddest thing, by the way?
What's the saddest thing that ever happened to you?
713-212-5-7-90.
Hey, if y'all want to come to Kingwin and kick my dogs, come on in here.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
We're going to hear from Carlos, by the way, at the top of the hour.
So be ready.
In about eight minutes, we're going to hear from Carlos.
Brian McTaggart was in the media.
I'm sure he's a barrel of laughs.
Oh, I'm sure.
Let's go to Brent on 7-9 at 1052.
Brent, what do you got today?
Hello, man.
Hey, that's terrible nose with Carlos.
a real kick in the gut.
It's crazy that something like this can happen in the badden cage.
You're right.
As you all said, it's a good thing that we didn't trade off, parades.
And this shoot-made kid, you know, he's looking all right.
Maybe we can develop him a little bit more, and maybe we'll be all right.
But I was thinking there's a silver lining behind all this,
especially with the Rockets in their off-season now,
is that we get to listen to Matt Thompson on the 10th inning show,
answering the drunk callers, I think that is just something to look forward to.
Y'all have a good day.
Love Matt Thompson on the 10th inning.
That Thompson crushes it on the 10th inning show.
Mike Thompson is so good.
Yes.
Yeah, I was thrilled.
Geo on 790 at 1053.
Geo, good morning.
Hey, guys.
Great show as usual.
No, it's not.
The show sucks.
The show sucks today.
I was being polite, man.
I was being polite.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All right.
But to just touch on this, the situation, man.
When it comes to these Astros, I usually, I'm a homer, a big fan, been watching them forever, down there.
And I usually try to stay positive despite, like, the obvious of how the season has been going so far.
I think we all can say that Korea wasn't the end-all be-out-to- our success this season.
But it just feels like after the news we got this morning, it's just like salt in the wound at this point.
It season sucks, man.
I mean, you got EMI, the EMI situation, him being homesick or whatever.
You got out Tuve on a freaking free fall decline, it seems like.
You know, it seems like someone's always getting put on the aisle every other week.
We've got bottom of the league pitching.
Correct me if I'm wrong, man, but this just sounds like a season where it has blowup potential.
I'm talking clean house.
I'm talking trades.
I'm talking everything, man, because it's, it's, it.
Nothing's going right.
Nothing's going right at all.
So that's what I take on the guys.
Good day, man.
I hope we all feel better soon.
Thank you, Gio.
Ross, I can't argue.
This team cannot compete for the division.
And not that Carlos was going to be the end all for this,
but you're adding one more injured player who's not coming back.
It's not sustainable.
It's just not.
I mean, they're where they should.
should be.
Yeah.
In second to last place.
They're where they might end up.
In second to last place.
Injured list.
I don't.
You ready?
Go ahead.
This is from Apollo Des.
Our good friend, Adam Wex,
just put up a good list too.
It's basically like the entire start.
You can make a starting lineup almost out of it.
Well, let me give you,
we'll give Wex.
We like Wex better anyway.
Let's give Wex the run here.
Get some music ready to go.
What kind of music, Matt?
I don't know. Death,
funeral march.
Hold on.
Here we go.
Wait, I think I actually do have the funeral march.
All right, when you're ready, let me know.
You're such a big Chopin fan, Matt.
I do love me some Chopin.
That's that noodle that's got a little egg and some Tobasco on top, right, at the very end.
No.
Oh, my computer's freezing. Hold on.
Well, that's a stunner.
All right.
Diaz.
Just start the music whenever you get it.
Diaz.
Peña, Correa,
Loporffito,
Myers, Tramel,
Brown,
Hayter, Emi,
Javier, Blanco,
Wisnowski,
Wesneski, Walter Pearson.
And me, I'm going on the injure list today.
Correa, the only one definitely out for the season.
Although we're going to see Christian.
Are we going to see Christian Javier back anytime?
doesn't sound like it.
I don't know.
Doesn't sound like it.
I mean, at least Hayter did okay yesterday.
And then what are the Astros going to do with Emi?
Are they going to continue to rehab him down there?
Yeah, I guess.
We can do 30 days down there, right?
Mm-mm-mm.
All right, I'm running through the list one more time.
Diaz, Peña, Correa, Lopofito,
Myers, Tremel, Brown, Hayter,
Emi, Javier, Blanco, Wisnowski, Watsnowski, Walter, Pearson.
Jesus.
All right, really quick.
Max, before the top of the hour, Max, you were at the game yesterday in Shirline.
What did you see?
Yeah, guys, it's great.
First of all, it's great to talk to you.
I know the message has not been great today, but I want to at least give a little bit of positive
by your Jones when we get to Hater.
Watching EMI, I want to provide a little bit of context, at least for the listeners
out there who probably not aware of exactly what went happened and why EMI
mentioned the pitch clock in his comments.
in the third inning yesterday in Sugarland,
he committed what is being called, quote, a forced balk.
Now, what that means is basically he committed
what is considered a third disengagement
in the midst of an at-bat where no result happened,
basically means that he gets off the mound, calls time.
If he commits that three times, of any pitcher,
minor league or major league baseball,
commits that three times in a single bat
that is called a forced box.
When that situation, when EMI committed the forced balk
in the third inning yesterday in Sugarland,
the runners who were at first and second of the time moved to second to third.
He was confused about it. He wasn't aware of it.
And in many cases, that was the reason why he brought up the pitch clock because he believed
it messed up his timing and all that sort of thing. So I found that. So for anyone who was
curious about why he brought that up, that was one of the reasons why he did. In the case
of Hater, I will say this. The velocity is basically about 80, 90 percent there. Sinkers,
93, 94, sliders in the low mid 80s. He said, quote, that it was feeling like riding a bike
and that he feels like he's at least just getting into it.
It feels like the start of spring training for him.
And at least for what he said, guys, this is at least what he's treating this at.
He's treating this next month as his spring training.
He says he's got about five to six more outings in Sherland and about May 23rd-ish.
I tweeted this out last night.
He said that May 23rd is that when he's at least targeting to be back with the big league club.
So if anyone's, you know, wanting some good news or wanting to put anything on their calendars
or when they want to maybe kick back in and see what the team's going to
be looking like putting your calendar possibly for May 23rd because that's the timeline that
Hater has been given by his coaching staff. So we'll kind of see how things go. Nate Pearson also
yesterday, kind of a mixed bag. It seemed there was an error committed by C.J. Alexander yesterday
that kind of inflated his numbers. But I mean, he didn't necessarily look the greatest,
but it will kind of be interesting to see how far he goes. But hoping for good things, guys,
hoping for good things at least in the imminent future. I know it doesn't seem that way.
And we're very interested to see. I just heard Carlos' comments will be interested to see what
Pogie and others who are like you guys, obviously there.
every single day say about this as well.
Thanks, Max, the update.
Max, or Sugar Land Space Cowboy Correspondent Sports, Ravie.
I love that.
I'm sorry, Max.
I'm not in a good mood.
Whatever you try to say, I don't give two craps about it.
I'm not going to love you, but no.
Good stuff.
Good stuff, but I don't care.
Oh, man.
Carlos Correa spoke to the media moments ago.
You'll hear it next.
This is the Matt Thomas show with Ross.
No, 4, Sports Talk, 7.90.
Shut your ball, Max.
Up.
Ain't nobody got time for that coming up at about 25.
I feel like the entire show, Ross, has been to shut your bummed,
that's up.
Anybody got time for this?
Ah.
All right.
It's crazy.
As promised, Brian McTaggart was, put his phone on.
We're going to give him credit.
Thank you very much for the audio.
Here is McTaggart asking Carlos Carrot's questions about 20 minutes ago.
Carlos, what's your prognosis?
I need surgery on the tendon, my left ankle,
which would require for me to miss the rest of the season.
How tough is it to get that news?
Tough, really tough.
Not what I was expecting.
But, you know, now it's time to deal with it, face ahead on, and focus on the rehab.
What happened?
I was hitting in the cage, normal day, feeling great.
I went through our routine, took a swing, and just fell a pop.
They just completely snapped on me.
And then it fell to the ground and couldn't put weight on it.
It was just when you landed, like, planted.
normal swing. It's a normal swing. It just, it just, I felt like a loud pop. I heard it and felt it. And right away, I knew something was wrong.
Do you know yet when you're going to have surgery? No, yeah. We're going to wait for some other opinions and all that, you know, go through.
But we all go through when we have this type of injuries and just make sure that surgery is the right move or it's a complete tear. So most likely we surgery at some point this week.
What's like the time to you?
Six to eight months.
depending on high recovers after.
So we'll see.
How disappointing is that your injuries just piling up
with so many injuries on the team this season?
How tough has that been to the day?
Well, you know, I'm on my mother's face.
So I know that I might not understand it now.
We might not understand it now,
but I'm going to keep moving forward,
trusting the Lord's plan,
and I'm going to keep a positive attitude.
And, you know, even though it comes at a moment
where I'm falling in love with it.
baseball more than ever.
I have a great group of guys, so I can understand that
he's in control, and I'm going to keep moving
forward and focus on the rehab.
Well,
it's six to eight months, but honestly
Rossi, he can take his time, because I don't think we're going to
have baseball much of 2027.
That's true, actually.
Yeah, plenty of time to rehab.
You'll be 100% when they
hit back, get on the mound again,
and get on the field.
So he's saying loud pop.
Is this an Achilles thing, then?
or do we even have any word on what the actual injury is?
No, no.
No, I would assume he would not have the definitive answer on that.
Yeah.
I figure he does, but I...
Do I mean, tendons do pop, correct?
Yes.
Is it a ligament or a tendon?
I don't know.
You know what we got to start doing?
I guess we're going to put dixtures on the show?
Oh.
No.
I'm just doing my thing.
I'm talking to people trying to get the little...
The vibe of the team, and I should be staring at spatting practice
because apparently terrible things happened.
Two straight days.
You got oblique for Yon Air and you got a pop of a tendon.
Yeah.
Who else had an oblique injury?
Was it Nick Allen?
Was it an oblique?
Was it in Jake Myers, too?
Is Jake, Ick?
Yeah.
Doesn't really matter what kind of injuries I have.
They don't play.
I mean, it does.
It does.
I kind of.
You just can't have nice things.
This is terrible juju.
Six to eight months.
Imagine being a 30-something-year-old athlete.
telling you that we're going to get you back on the field in six to eight months.
What a kick in the groin that would be.
Or in the shin or in the tendon.
So we got a arm fatigue for, yes.
Then we got a biceps.
Yes.
And oblique.
Duh.
Shoulders.
Keep going.
Hamstrings.
Yeah, absolutely.
Elbows.
Why not?
Quadriceps for low perfido.
Yep.
Groyin for tremel.
Who we hate the groin.
And another oblique for yiner.
Yes.
This is like head to toe.
We're hitting everything.
Can I say something about this?
Sure, why not?
This is all I'm going to say about in track and in CLA, it's double A.
There's programs that are almost like a haunted house.
Like if you go there, you're going to get hurt.
And the Cougars are one of those programs in track.
Oh, no, I'm seeing.
And this is like, I'm not even throwing shit.
This is serious.
Like, everybody that goes there ends up getting hurt.
Like career ending.
injuries. Some people make it through
but now the Astros
and the whole MLB this is going to
look disastrous
for the organization itself
this reputation is going to be with them forever.
I want to argue
with Jonathan about this.
I don't think I can. I think if you pay somebody
they'll still come. Yeah.
But yeah
this is not good look and I mean you fired
the head of training last year
you went with Jeremiah Randall how's he
feeling right now? Oh he's feeling just fine.
I think he might want to call it at 1130.
Jeremiah on a mobile calling at 1130 during shut your bum ass up, ironically enough.
He said, oh, it was all my phone, huh?
How's it going over there in Houston?
Angela, 1110 on 790.
Angela, good morning to you.
Good morning.
How are you gentlemen doing?
Wonderful.
Well, that just brings me to what I was calling,
that everybody is calling for Dana and the manager's job,
but I'm questioning the training staff, why are so many players hurt and constantly getting hurt?
So kind of depressing.
This is a blow, you know, blow.
We just cannot catch a break.
It's not just Astro fans, but Houston sports in the general.
But anyway, I just wanted to talk about the training staff and why are so many players getting hurt.
I listen to you guys every day.
I've called a couple of times.
and y'all do a wonderful job.
So this is really depressing.
I know.
Thank you, Angela for the nice words.
Thank you, Angela.
We appreciate it.
We appreciate it.
Um, yeah, we don't know.
Whoever is on this training staff has years and years in experience.
They know what they're doing.
They're not.
They're giving them food.
We just went through the list.
They're getting them water.
It's a pulpery of different issues.
Yes.
If it was like, if it was soft tissue issues, you could probably narrow it down to a variety of different things.
That's everything.
It's also you're talking about professional athletes who are pushing their bodies for the limits.
I don't know, man.
But it's been back-to-back years.
It's not been fun.
Is it pitch clock?
Is it a game increase?
I mean, Rossi, I was done with the Astros in two hours and 20 minutes yesterday.
Granted, there was only three runs scored.
But this doesn't feel, now, look, obviously the Astros are leading the case on this.
But there are an injury list throughout baseball that are damaged.
We mentioned this yesterday.
You weren't with us.
Terrick Scouble is going to be out three months.
Yeah, Garrett Crochet is in the IL.
It's the top three Sigh-Young finishers are all in the IL.
You have to have stars play your sports.
And I don't know if they're trying to jam 162 games in 175 days.
You know teams are giving guys days off.
But we are, we're trying to fast pedal through a season where maybe you just can't.
Or maybe the human body just is like, you know,
what, if you're a major league athlete, you're only going to play 100 baseball games.
Maybe that's just what you should do, because the body is going to continue to tell you that
you trying to push through 120, 130, 140 games, this isn't practical.
Well, I'm also going to give you the number one reason to me people aren't going to want
to hear.
It's bad luck.
Bad variance.
It's bad injury variance.
It happens.
And things happen in life.
And things pile up one after another.
And sometimes we try to make sense of everything.
And sometimes there is no sense.
there is no rhyme or reason.
But for a second consecutive year, I mean,
the Astros did change out their medical staff.
They did.
You can't blame the draider.
Jeremiah's like, I ain't kicking this Lail.
He says, see you later.
I don't like Robert Ford's saying that.
He's with the Braves right now.
Braves' I.L. is looking okay, right?
They're doing well.
But you know what?
Here's the thing.
We don't care how the Braves are doing.
We don't care how the Blue Jays are feeling.
We care about what's going on with the local team.
and we're about to watch
Nick Allen
and
Zach Desenzo get lots of playing time.
You'll get you some of your infield to be fine.
Well, two-vace, eventually going to be
hopefully turned things around on the plate.
Oh, Ronald O'Koooooo's braves.
Jeremiah Rattle's fault.
Jeremiah's like, can I catch some slack in some city, please?
I'm getting worn out in two different metropolitan areas now.
All right, 1113.
It's Madden Ross.
713212-5-790.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
7-90.
7-90 Astros on deck begins at noon.
I'll start with a visit with Brian Bogus Sevik.
We'll run through some of the highlights of yesterday,
and we'll let you again hear from Carlos Gray.
We do have a little more breaking news on the Astros.
Well, it's a breaking news day here on the program.
Oh, boy.
Back here on the Mark Thompson with Josh show, as somebody said.
Yeah, it's fine.
Just listen.
I don't care if you know our names.
Tatsu Emi is going to start one of the games in the Seattle series next week.
See, he's ready, Matt.
Told you.
Oh, good, baby, nothing to worry about.
He's got to sink or swim.
I love it.
Let's go.
Sink or swim, baby.
My optimism is minimal.
Well, yeah, it's not like he just threw six scoreless in AAA.
I understand.
And the reality is this season's a wash.
I mean, give him all you.
year to figure it out if he likes it here.
So you can collect
on the $18 million again next year.
Damn.
The hits just keep coming.
I mean, what will the crowd be like?
Nervous?
They're going to be a warm inviting bunch. I can take of that.
Anxious?
Like that golf clap?
Ladies and gentlemen, entering the mound,
Bob Ford. Now on the mound,
Tatsuya, I.
I will be encouraging him and wishing him the best.
Oh, that's nice.
You should make it a bros hangout or something.
Go to the game and just sit back and have a couple of pops and root for him.
Sure.
I mean, it couldn't be any worse.
We don't want to boo him.
Yeah, you don't want to boo him.
No hissing.
So Kyle Tucker has been getting booed.
Yeah.
Oh, by the way, last night, there was Dodger fans in the stadium,
but they didn't overrun the building.
They were down the third base line where the Dodgers dugout was.
They cheered.
It was a little booze for Tucker.
I thought it was much to do about nothing.
Everybody was kind of pissed off
that people were booing Tucker and there were so many Dodger fans.
The reason of one of their Dodger fans is not because they came in from L.A.
It's because the Dodgers are the World Series champion
and people like to wear T-shirts among winning teams.
It's easy.
The crowd that was there were Houstonians that were Dodger fans.
The Dodgers were 20 and 50, they wouldn't be there.
But they're 50 and 20 or whatever they are,
or what they will be.
They're winning every championship.
Yeah.
Dodgers fans are.
everywhere too, I guess.
Yeah, they are.
Probably come out. Probably come to
Houston looking for fights. Also,
I mean, Shoah O'Hanee is the greatest show
on Earth. He was mid
yesterday. It was okay. He did throw a bunch of strikeouts,
but... He gave how many runs you give up?
Two? Oh, yeah, baby.
Oh, how many endings you throw?
Seven, I think.
That sounds better
than mid. I don't
care. He got another loss. You don't
like facing the Astros. It's bad juju.
He gave up two runs. He's scared of playing
the after-in-the-out. He got destroyed.
Seven innings, two runs, eight strikeouts.
He sucks. He sucks.
What a horrible start.
Hey, I liked my guy better.
Yeah, he got out-dued by Peter Lambert, maybe, just as we all predicted.
Just as we all predicted. Let's go to Scott on 790, 11-22.
Scott, good morning to you.
Matt Ross.
I just want, can I ask you guys a question?
Do you guys feel numb to this at this point?
Like when you hear, I mean, normally someone like Carlos getting hurt for the season, yeah, it's obviously a huge story, but it feels so routine at this point.
Almost like we're, you know, just waiting for the other shoe to drop every other day for a season and a quarter now, basically, with the Astros.
Like when Hunter Brown got hurt to start the season, I was like, oh, I'm like, here we go again.
and I remember having like an actual reaction to it.
Now it's just, I'm so used to it at this point
that it's hard to even feel strongly about it one way or another.
Are you all kind of in the same boat where it's like, you know,
almost like we're seeing ghosts at this point?
The injuries up until yesterday, I mean,
they didn't necessarily move the needle.
Not that Carlos is having this all-world season, triple crown season,
but he's a guy that plays every day or did since he made the trade for him.
He inherited the shortstop spot.
He is a middle of your lineup guy.
He's a recognizable guy.
He's a highly competent guy.
I don't know about you, Ross, but this thing's a little bit more.
It just does.
Yeah, he's out for the season.
Everything else is like, okay, yeah, I got an oblique, going to miss a few weeks.
Hamstring, you know, I'll be back.
He's getting major surgery.
He's going to be out for months.
Yeah, this is definitely to me.
Popping of tendons is not like a shoulder discomfort.
Yeah, I'm not numb yet.
So this hurt, this hurt today.
Fair.
I guess, you know, I just, whenever we, you know, I listen in on the shows and we're
talking about it with my buddies or whatever.
And it's like, well, when this guy gets healthy and that guy gets healthy and that guy gets
healthy, we're going to be loaded.
And it keeps crossing my mind.
That's assuming everyone else stays healthy the rest of the way too, which, you know,
we just unfortunately have not had a great track record of that.
I did want to, I mean, I guess in a moment of the levity, especially since we won yesterday,
even though it gets ruined by the injury, I wanted to ask.
you one more question because y'all normally do
a very good job of tempering
fandom overreaction
so I'm going to give a take and you guys
tell me if y'all don't mind if you'll think I'm
overreacting or not okay the
Jose Altuve
strikeout on that slider
was the
worst two strike swing
I can remember seeing
in my life is that
is that fair unfair
uh well car
Jeremy Payne has ever been a great hitter against sliders and I've seen him
take some bad words too. But that pitch, I mean,
the catcher had to almost dive to
save the ball for being thrown
into the Astros dugout. It is bad.
He's slumping.
It looked like a little league swing. I just did.
We love Jose Al-Tuve.
He's awesome. He's going on the Hall of Fame.
He's a great human being.
That was a little league swing.
Yep. Yep.
It was, and yeah, I love
Jose Al-Tube too. That's the guy trying to get
out of a slump, trying to say that I hit to
all fields, and he just
really came up short.
And he was so good at the beginning of the
year of being patient with pitches and
really prioritizing it and unfortunately
just hasn't been able to
keep up. We all
resort back to our instincts
I guess at some point. But
appreciate you guys powering us through.
I'll talk to you all later. Thanks,
you know another thing too, Ross, his walk total
has dropped considerably. Remember in the first month of the year?
He was walking on a semi-regular basis.
That's gone now. Yeah, it's predictable.
I mean, water didn't... We have
whatever, how many years of sample size.
Generally, things will regress.
Right.
But you were hoping it was also something with the ABS,
and I think the walk rate has still been better.
But I just retweeted it, Matt.
Look at where that pitch landed on that.
Like, do you know the Game Day app
where you look at the pitch location?
It would have to do this.
It would have hit a left-handed batter.
You don't have to look.
Oh, my God.
It was bad.
And you know what?
He was your lead-off guy yesterday, too.
who's getting extra looks.
Jose Al Tuvae tries to make things happen when he's slumping.
We've seen this before.
Sometimes he goes up there and is like,
I'm going to swing at this no matter what,
because he's got great hand-eyed coordination,
and we've seen him hit balls way out of the strike zone for hits.
Correct.
He's done it before.
And it's one of those things where it's incredible
when he's able to get contact on something
and send it the other way and poke a single.
And then when he swings like that, it looks bad.
It's almost, I don't know if it's worse if it's the video
or it's the voice of the stat cast showing it.
Probably the stat cast.
I mean, it looks like it's going to...
Actually, it would have been behind a left-handed batter.
Okay.
He's my guy.
I'm not doing this anymore.
Am I wrong?
You can be your guy, but we can also be honest about it.
I know.
I know.
Brian on 790, 1128.
Yeah, Brian.
Hey, guys.
Question for you.
How much is the acceptable amount of bleach you can start drinking
at this point. Zero.
Just baseball, Brian. It's all good.
Well, there's about, to be fair, Brian,
there are about 10 people I would like to have drink bleach,
but it doesn't involve around the asteros.
All right, all right.
Now, I'm just curious to see how,
not necessarily this injury,
but even everything with scoble and all the arm injuries,
I'd be curious to see just how this plays into
the offseason and the collective bargaining.
if there's maybe added time
back on the pitch clock.
You remember when the pitch clock first came out,
it was 20 seconds,
and I think they dialed it down a little bit
between runners on and runners not on.
And I wonder if that's caused an increase in some of these
almost injuries.
I'm not saying Scoobles was that or Hunter Browns,
but I'd be curious to see,
it seems like, even with Garrett Cole and all that,
all these guys, since the pitch clock has come out,
you've had more Tommy John injuries or elbow injuries, things like that,
since the implementation of the pitch clock,
especially since it's come down where it was.
I'd be curious to know if that,
if y'all think that may also be in the discussions of,
hey, we don't need it to go up to 30 seconds,
but if we got it to 23 or 24,
just have a couple extra seconds on there.
You know, you're adding, what, 10, 15 minutes maybe to a game?
I don't think it's going to add that much more in the long row.
but I'd be curious to know if that's it.
But hey, guys, we're only four back.
Somehow, after all of this, you're only four out of the division lead.
So if you can hold this together with duct tape and bail in wire,
who knows what could happen.
It's baseball.
Crazier stuff has happened.
But I know you're going to get to, I just don't get it or shut your bum ass up.
So I'll let you go.
But Ted Turner also died, so you're believing or not for tomorrow.
That's right.
Ross, Ted Turner's locked and loaded for tomorrow for believe it or not.
Oh, he died?
Yeah, today.
Hmm.
All right.
Single handling change the way we watched television in the last 50 years.
Believe it.
Yeah, that's believe it.
Yeah, I would believe that to be accurate.
All right, let's do this.
Next half hour, shut your bum ass up.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
Happy birthday, by the way, to hope.
Jose Altube. We have time for that.
In a bubble wrap him, I guess.
It's the day off on his birthday?
Are we sure? Nobody's going to hit in a cage or something?
I guess we're not 100% sure.
I don't know. Guys usually get like three hits on their birthday.
That's true. We need them out there.
A little birthday note about it to Jose Altube during the on-deck show.
Oh, look at this. Look at this. Professional Radio Teeth.
A little form for promotion.
Brian Bogus Epic's going to join me right at the top of the hour.
36 years old today for Jose Al-Tube.
Wonderful.
All right, shut your bum ass up.
Let's go.
713, 212, 5790.
713, 212 5790.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
Jonathan, you are first up.
What's the matter with you this week?
You know, I went to the game Monday, and I was around some Astros fans.
And it just got me on a topic because I think it was Eastak Paredes that, you know,
had a bad swing into the foul ball into his leg.
Like, you know, he had to walk off a little bit, you know, go strut.
And some dudes next to me were like, oh, okay, yeah, coach, you know, take me home.
I'm hurt.
Like, you know, just, you know, because he took a long time, basically talking mess that, like, you know, you're not really hurt, get back there and play.
Like, he's some mule.
Dude, y'all will never, ever be this much in shape in your life, ever in your life.
You've never even, probably even never jog the mile.
And you're talking about he's not hurt.
And even down to this career thing, I'm seeing people saying, tell him the suck.
it up and get back on the field.
Man, who do y'all think y'all are?
Y'all are nobody's.
Yeah, y'all are a bunch of nobodies.
I got one for you.
I'm going to pick you back off that.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
Dumbass Ray in Miami calls the morning show yesterday.
He says that Kevin Durant was faking the injury.
Did he quit on his team?
Shut your bum ass up.
That's a stupid take.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
Shut your bum ass up.
I mean, look, does Kevin have his awards?
Of course.
Nobody's perfect except, of course, sports RV.
But come on now.
Kevin Durant was born to play.
basketball. He don't want to be sitting on the bench.
Shut your bum ass up. You don't know how you're talking
about. You're a bad fan. Go away.
We don't need you. Shut your bum ass up, man.
Critical
thinking, folks.
There's none. Not on sports radio.
I mean, it's even like one step of critical thinking.
Kevin Durant likes basketball. Kevin Durant wants
to play basketball. That's not even that critical
of thinking.
It was dumb. It was stupid.
Terrible, terrible, terrible.
We're getting dumber as a society.
Yes, we are. Ross, it's a matter with you.
Uh, I mean, can I just go to general Astros injuries?
I mean, they're piling up one after another.
Hamstrings, obliques, shoulders, everything, arm fatigue, slope of the mound, pitch clock, food.
Ankle, batting cage, can't do anything anywhere.
Shut your bum ass up.
Ain't nobody.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
You can tell Tatu E.
He might to shut his bum ass up.
I'm not doing that.
Well, he'll be gone a year anyway.
He's going to go back to Japan.
Maybe.
No, I don't think so.
You want to bet on that?
Scott Barlesing, I'll let that happen.
What Scott would be going to say about that?
It's got to be like, man, you sign me.
I found you.
You found me.
You'll sign this kind of, and you will play for this $18 million next year.
Well, in 2028.
And Zach Dazzo, we trust.
Man, we're going to get to know Zach to Senzo, do we not?
Yeah, it's good.
It's Italian, uh, Italian, uh, WBC, stalwart.
Yeah.
He was good.
And now he's down on the Astro gear for 2026.
Zach Cole's ready to dominate too.
Zach Cole, two games, one home run.
I like the numbers.
713-213-2-5-790.
7-1-3-2-790.
Matt and Spring Branch.
Matt, what's the matter with you?
Yeah, I'll get right to it.
I'll listen to the radio show this morning,
the morning drive, and Cole Thompson is on there
advocating at the Astros to be better with Framber,
Valdez. I mean, they might have one more win, but he is not worth that.
The dude is a cancer. He sounds about as smart as the people pining for Trevor Bauer the last couple of years.
So Cole Thompson, shut your bum ass up. Ain't no one got time for your bad take about having
Frommervaldives back on the staff.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
There was a zero percent chances coming back. We can't revisit history here.
Zero. Zero.
In fact, let's play the audio right now.
I mean, I'd still say they'd be better with them.
Well, of course, but that's because
not because he's been dynamic,
it's because the injury list has been long and length of here.
So yesterday he gives up three home runs,
then he doinks a player for the Red Sox.
Both benches empty.
He's ejected.
Jonathan, we have the audio.
We have the Boston version of the call
intermixed with the Detroit version.
Ross sitting, figure out who's talking about whom
when it comes down to this Framber Valdez ejection yesterday.
Trevor's story is going to get drilled.
that's tired after the back-to-back home runs Valdez plunks him and some of the Red Sox coming out
and some of the Tigers coming out and both benches are emptying
you can't get them out so you throw at them what a joke Red Sox bullpen is about to enter this thing too as they race across the outfield grass
no punches or anything thrown
No, the one guy who caused it's hiding in the back.
You give up three home runs, back-to-back shots, and then you drill Trevor Story.
Well, let's just hope he doesn't cross up his catcher now that he's mad.
Yeah, go back to last year, we drilled his catcher.
And four two, he's a former, oh, they're going to throw out Framber Valdez.
He's going to be ejected from the game for that hit-by pitch.
So Bromber is going to be ejected.
A.J. Hinch comes out to talk to Dan Isom.
There was no warnings issue.
There was nothing going on.
And just to throw a guy out for hitting one batter,
they don't know if it was intentional.
I mean, that was as blatant as you've ever seen, right?
First pitch right between the numbers.
There was no sign or indication that there was any kind of animosity, animosity.
Whatever you say it, that's it.
I'm fired up now.
Now I'm fired up.
All right, Detroit Honk.
Seriously.
Come on.
you can't use a player's pass as part of its future.
Frommberg did it intentionally.
Frommber's got screws loose.
Frommers really good,
but when he loses it and he cracks like an egg,
that egg, that all that yolk comes out, Sports RV.
It just does.
In the start yesterday,
Fromber threw 60 pitches.
He threw one four-seem fastball, Matt.
You want to guess which pitch it was?
The one that hit Trevor Store in the back.
Correct.
That's a smoking gun.
So the straight broadcaster,
shit your bum ass up, man.
He did it on purpose.
Shit your bum ass up, man.
For sure.
Carlos, what's your...
What was Carlos?
Carlos, I don't want to answer that question.
No, we don't want to hear from Carlos.
We'll hear from Carlos in about a half an hour.
Come, I mean,
look, blind homerism.
when you call a broadcast,
you try to find the positive on your side.
But that was,
even AJ Hinch is like,
I don't like what I saw.
Yeah, he did it.
Like I said,
he was where he was working
sinker change curve curve.
The whole game.
Gives up the home runs and says,
I'm going to throw a 94 at his back.
Oh,
what are you throwing them out for?
Please.
Hey,
he hit one guy.
You hit one guy.
Detroit.
We're tough in Detroit.
that we are. I guess
you could say issue a warning
and go from there, but also, I would
say either way would be... No.
Well, the reality is you're going off of history.
And the history says the guys does this
all the time.
Well, no, normally he hits
his catcher. That's true. He actually hits his own teammate.
That's different.
All right. Last call for
Shut your bum ass up. Ain't nobody got time for that.
713-212-5-790.
Nick Allen
Braden Shoemake
We better memorize these names, Ross,
because they're playing a lot.
I can't call them Zach anymore.
That's a fault on mine.
Yeah, come on now.
We've got to get the Knicks and our Bradens.
We've got to get them all figured out.
God.
A lot of Zacks.
And we can put Peter Lambert
and start calling him Ace Lambert.
There we go.
I call him Ace Lambo.
All right,
we'll put something in existence now
that's going to make you mad at me?
No.
All right, then I won't do it.
Okay.
You're going to make me mad.
Go ahead.
Sure, why not.
Shut your bum ass up.
Who's next?
To get hurt?
Oh, shut your bum ass up.
See, shit your bum ass up, man.
Hit it one more time, Jonathan.
Shut your bum ass up, man.
Why would you say that?
You are getting me mad at you.
I didn't know you're going to say that.
I told you.
What the hell is wrong with you?
Oh, because I've got 15 players out or 16.
Oh, my God.
One more more friends.
Terrible.
Told you all.
Yeah, you're the worst.
God Green.
To Framber's credit, he did not throw out a teammate.
Small step of progress.
Yeah, exactly.
At least he hit one of their guys.
All right, Ross, tell the folks about Centrogenics.
We get to one phone calls in.
713-212-5-790.
Ain't nobody getting time?
Ain't anybody got time for this?
I got a few more to get to.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
2014 college football playoff is ridiculous.
Ain't anybody got time for that.
That's a joke.
ain't nobody got time for that oh they're going to get rid of championship games all thanks very much how nice of you conference
i will say what i have been continuing to say oh no i will never underestimate the greed of these presidents
and ades and commissioners who run these conferences and schools don't forget university presidents
i said presidents the first thing i said it's okay i will say i'm
I've, the two ADs I've met and been a part of, they fit that description very well.
Oh, Shade thrown.
There you go.
That's all I'm going to say.
I'm just saying, shade is being thrown.
And this is the slippery slope.
You know what?
I'll also say the people were right.
I wanted to play off.
I wanted four.
And I said like max 12.
Max 12.
And everybody's like, it's a slippery slope will be at 20.
Nah, I didn't think it would happen this fast at least.
Doubling it.
You're going to reduce the charm of it.
It's an everybody gets invited tournament.
We have the NCAA going to 76 teams in the college basketball.
You're taking something special there, and you're just opening it up.
Now, look, other sports can say, well, you open up the baseball wild card playoffs.
People like that.
You open up the playoffs.
The NFL, Major League Baseball, are different animals.
Nobody wants to see James Madison versus Tulane in a 13 versus 6.
team matchup. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Ain't nobody got time for that?
Terrible.
So they're going to have one round of buys.
Eight teams are going to play and that'll put it down to 16.
Or no, no, that would put it down to.
I don't even want to know the format.
Eight teams are down to four.
That would be 20.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
So you need 16 teams?
Down to eight.
Oh, my God.
What is this?
16 teams would go down to eight.
And the first eight would get a buy?
They haven't figured it out yet.
They don't care.
You know what they're doing first?
they want to make sure they get their television deal set up,
whether it's ESPN or TNT or Netflix or Amazon Prime.
Show me the money.
Don't pay the kids.
Watch out now.
Oh, they're paying the kids.
Don't worry about that.
Everybody's going to get paid.
People who were still fighting against that make me laugh.
Yeah, everybody's going to get paid now.
All right, a couple of things on Shut Your Bosset up.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
So, look, Alperin Shingung has,
kind of want it because he does complain quite a bit about calls.
Ooh.
NBA's most overrated list.
It was surveyed 91 players.
Is that a big enough sample size to make Alper and Schingling the most overrated player in the NBA?
Yes or no?
You're not going to like my answer.
Please, tell me.
I don't care.
Yes.
Excuse me, not 91.
Eighty-one players.
That's a little smaller.
12% of the votes from a total of 81 players who took part of.
in the vote. Most overrated
player in the NBA, Alperin, Chingon, 12%,
Rudy Gobert, 8.6, Tray Young,
8.6, Carl Anthony Town
7.4, and Powell Ben Carroll,
4.9. Okay,
there are 15 roster
spots on a team, and there's 30, it's 450,
so they basically would, took
20% of the league.
If you're saying it's being a little
sample size, I'll live with it.
I mean, it's big enough to, you know, there will be some
margin for error.
But, I mean...
Somebody's got to be first, too.
the march fair could go the other way too.
Maybe if you asked everybody, it'd be 20%
or maybe Fess or maybe 6%.
Who knows?
Yep. But yep, Alperin-Changoon
listed according to the athletics,
81 player-player poll is the most
over-oriented player in the NBA.
And I think a lot of it is
is because he does hunt for whistles.
And nobody likes that.
Nobody does.
And I would hope that would be a huge part of his repertoire
for the remaining of his career,
especially if he stays in Houston.
All right, anything else?
We're going to get off our chest to your boys.
We've got a couple minutes where we get to Astero's
baseball. Brian Bogasepic is going to join us right at 12 o'clock.
You know what? Everybody that's driving right now, I want you to check your signals.
I've been really good lately driving and just being, you know, defensive.
But I've seen like five people today that kept their blinker on.
Oh, yeah.
They're just driving with it for like five miles.
I know.
That's been happening a lot to me too.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
I know because you're trying to let them go.
You're like, all right, I'm going to let you in.
You're trying to be a good driver.
Trying to be courteous.
That's my blurry and everything.
You're trying to let everybody, yes, you try to let them over, and then they just stand there.
That's been happening a lot more lately to me, too, John.
That's what I'm saying.
I don't know if they're on their phones, but everybody does drive me in check, please.
I got to be honest with you.
I have an automatic, you know, the blinkers on thing, so that goes about 10 seconds,
but I feel bad when it does happen to me occasionally.
So I would like to do a premature.
I'm sorry for one of those people.
I don't mean to do it.
It happens.
It's not intentional.
We all do it, but it just feels like it's happening a bunch.
it's okay.
It's okay.
As long as you admit it, it's okay.
No, no, no.
That's what I'm saying.
I fully admit that it'll say turn, turn signal off.
I'm like, oh, God, I'm such a douche.
All right.
I don't want to do.
This is, look, Carls wasn't the end-all be-all guys, but it's just, it's a serious, serious injury.
It's a guy that's been playing two positions.
You needed him to be out there because certainly no disrespect to Nick Allen.
certainly no disrespect to other players.
I don't know their names right now.
But, I mean, he's been good.
OPS Plus is 121 and playing in short and third.
Yeah.
And a leader on the floor, I was going to say, on the field.
Now I've got to know more about Braden's shoemaker.
They're going to get healthy.
It's just going to be, you're going to get Pena back.
It'll be Paredes and Pena on the left side and we'll all be good.
And by the way, Isak Pertis, you can feel very comfortable.
you're not living town.
Yeah, go ahead and buy his jersey.
713.
And probably still don't do that, actually.
