This is Matt and Ross in the morning.
Six o'clock in H-town to a Friday edition of the Matt and Ross in the morning.
This is Sports Talk 790.
What a bad idea.
Get subscribers.
Right, Ross?
Go to break.
All right, we're going to break.
Only fan sports network.
That'd be pretty damn good.
Don't you think?
I mean, I don't have a good account.
So I wouldn't be able to see any of it.
But you'd get my drift.
That's right, rise?
All right.
And I will tell you that.
If they called and said, Matt, can you do some NBA, majorly baseball, NFL games?
I could be the voice of the only fan sports network.
You're a sick human being, Matt.
I know.
Good morning to you.
Hey, good Friday.
Good Friday.
By the way, I did take your advice, as you told me when I left yesterday going to the airport.
I wore sunglasses the whole day in the airport.
Each one hour difference.
No, no, no.
It's securitists or whatever the hell you were talking about earlier.
I took your advice.
You know what, Matt, I'm just going to educate you because, I mean, you're being willfully ignorant and you're like making fun of people who know things.
Circadian rhythm, your body gets on rhythms with the sunrise and the sunset.
This is like scientifically proven.
So if you want to help your jet lag, what you can do is you can, first of all, a few, the first example, like people like us, you want to get to bed a little bit earlier.
turn off all your lights and make things a little bit darker because your body naturally responds.
It has a rhythm due to light because we, of course, go on the sunrise and the sunset.
This is just, I mean, scientifically proven.
So if you want to get to sleep a little bit earlier or you want to feel a little more sleepy,
then yes, dim the lights or wear sunglasses if you have to.
So you're saying the flight to Baltimore or the sunglasses, the three-hourly over I had at BWI
and you weren't wearing sunglasses i was in sunglasses boy what a what a festival of excitement can you
raise the phone to your face raise the phone to my face when you take videos oh no i was just
sitting why you want me go all the way right there to my nostrils it's no it's just uncomfortable
angle well you know what i'll ask a rando stranger next time to shoot the video for me is that better
just hold the phone up you're such a critic i'm trying to help you honestly uh i got a lot of views
off of it i was fine that's good
Had me some Barbies at the airport.
Delicious.
Yeah, literally nobody.
Did you see that picture?
By Jonathan, look at SportsMT.
Nobody's in line at the Arby's.
Not a soul.
One woman did.
She liked her meats.
There was the tumbleweeters were going by, I think, in the bottom.
Well, here was a thing.
And again, we're going to get to sports because that's what the people that want to hear on the show.
What's here?
It goes, Freddy.
Clearly, very clearly.
I don't fly into BWI very much.
I don't know if you do when you traveled east, especially if you're a Southwest person.
Uh-huh.
You had, I'll just say their names, Chick-fil-A.
Okay, thank you, God.
McDonald's.
Uh-huh.
You had Arbys.
It's like a burrito place.
It's not really around here.
There may be a few, I think.
But, yeah, but it's not nearly as, it's like a Chipotle, yeah.
They had a salad place, which was just generic.
And then they had the Charlie Cheese Steaks.
Okay.
So, I mean, you had six options to just get a lot of caloric.
intake, high fat, sodium, cholesterol.
You just could use whatever you wanted to at this airport.
Yeah, welcome to the airport.
Yeah.
By the way, they say it's easier jet leg-wise to travel west to east.
Okay.
Okay, well, I'll feel that probably coming back next week.
And I know we're going to get to the Astros because Cam Smith, of course, we've had him on our list since the start.
We've had him on the breakout list.
So I did watch some of the...
I didn't watch a lot of the Rams' honors game as I was traveling,
but I did see enough of it to say,
what the hell was that?
I mean,
if you're going to travel.
They were napping in the fourth quarter.
Do you see that?
Yeah.
Pooking to Coole of a sleep on the field.
Rossi,
you got to have a better game than 27 to 7.
I mean,
I'm going to guarantee you something.
I do very few guarantees.
Certainly the optics are bad,
and especially it was the second half.
You could argue they got tired.
They got shut out in the second half.
They lost 17 to nothing in the second half.
Because here's the reality.
Here's the reality.
If you are playing the Niners and Rams in either San Francisco or Los Angeles, that's not,
I would think it's not going to be a 27 to 70.
Probably not.
It is within the range of outcomes, obviously.
Right, right.
But the optics are bad.
And well, I told you, folks, I'm just going to say, I'm not going to hit 100% of my picks,
but I told you folks on my friends on Cal Sheet, we were looking at the Niners because they got there early.
and we like it to Seahawks.
Oh, do you, you want an Italian name and the other game is in Australia.
Oh, I'm sorry, we like to Seattle.
Excuse me.
Yeah, whatever.
It's just to me, and first of all, watching the game, it was like the sun was rising.
Did you know how bright it was there?
I mean, obviously it was 10 o'clock in a morning Melbourne time, but it was just weird.
We're at night.
We're trying to settle in for a night.
And meanwhile, you've got everybody else there having, what is the Australian breakfast of choice?
I don't even know.
Uh,
Vegemite.
Okay,
Vegemite sounds about right.
Regimite and kangaroo pouch.
I mean,
the crowd was there.
They were energized.
The game sucked.
It was just,
it was,
at times it was unwatchable,
how bad it was.
I,
and that's not supposed to be
the game between those two teams.
Those are two legitimate championship teams.
I only caught some of the first half
and then I went to bed,
but I didn't,
I guess I didn't notice the sun,
but I'm going to say,
I'll take your word for it.
I'm not calling you,
calling you, saying you're wrong.
Well, thank you.
I appreciate that.
Because I didn't watch.
we have a super busy show are you ready for the bills texans on sunday i am i'm fired up baby
i will say having these little hors d'oeuvres uh these appetizers are good for the main course
the main course baby josh allen and that texans front seven's going to eat hopefully
i mean look at it uh do defenses oh i mean i am a little scared 10 was the first game yeah
27 to seven you've got two under so far
I'm just saying, I mean, and I am, I might have a trade on the under 44.5.
We've been talking about that.
I'm due for a loss, though.
Let me think about the bills.
Why?
Okay, and now, here I'm going to say this and watch them come up and score 36 points.
That's what I'm saying.
But every time the bills have come here in the last three or four years,
Josh is miserable here.
I mean, he's not performed well.
That's why I'm scared.
I'm like, yeah, like, I feel irrational and coffee against Josh Allen,
a guy who's been MVP.
and basically in the running for MVP every single year.
That's right.
And he's got something to prove.
He's going to have a chip on his shoulder.
Everyone knows we had Steve Tasker on early on the week.
Everybody in their grandma knows Josh Allen struggles against his Texans defense.
So he's, I mean, he's going to be ready to go.
He has stepped up in big games and playoffs and stuff like that.
He is, I mean, one of the three best quarterbacks on the planet.
So it could go wrong for the Texans for sure.
And look, we do get hypersensitive on one game.
in really in any sport.
Oh, yeah, but especially.
But if you're a Buffalo Phil fan,
and by way, if you see Rod Ryan,
tell him to come in and say hello to us.
We have not scheduled a firm time,
but you know what we got going on,
and he's got his busy show.
I mean, he's got a busy show.
You've got the big Motley Crew concert tonight.
Is that here in town?
Yes.
Are you going?
I am.
Are you really going to see Motley Crew?
Yeah.
Huh.
I would not put that in the sports RV resume
of a concert going of venues.
Um, I don't,
I'm tagging along.
Okay, yeah, I was going to say, you sometimes you go to stuff, like, for instance, I'm not a huge Circus Soleil guy.
Oh, my God.
It's so good.
Well, when you and I went to go see the Beatles, well, that was incredible.
Those people are so athletic.
Yeah, they are.
But I wouldn't just randomly go, hey, Circus in town, let's go.
But, you know, if you go, you go, if somebody wants to go, you do it.
You'd rather go to share.
I mean, that's not necessarily inaccurate, but let's go back to my central point.
If you're Buffalo, and they lose.
this game and Josh Allen doesn't
perform well. Yeah.
Buffalo is flipping out after week one and you
should never flip out but that's a first of all
it's a crazy NFL town.
Look, the Sabres are there but it's definitely
Bill's and everything else as a distant second.
They're going to lose their mind of Josh Allen.
Now if they lose
24-21 or something,
you can kind of get past it. But if Allen struggles
like he has the multiple
times he's been here, if I was
Buffalo Bill fan, I'd be flipping out.
Yeah. I totally get it. We're
You're going to especially you overreact in the NFL week to week, especially week one you overreact.
No question.
All right.
Busy show today.
We have the sounds at 630 coming up.
We have a bizarre one involving a current NFL quarterback.
I had one that I thought of in the middle of the night and I meant to email it to myself and I lost it.
I don't know what I did.
I don't know what I was going for.
Well, I should have to search.
You got 19 minutes.
I know.
I'm searching my, you ever searching your memory for something from the night before?
That's what I'm doing right now.
You ready for this one?
So sometimes when I can't.
sleep and you're going to give me the answer to this i'm going to feel stupid because i've not looked
it up okay i was thinking about former astros from missing you the other day uh-huh who is the
catcher for the twins that was the catcher for the astros uh that would be a victor carotini
yep see you couldn't come over the name i couldn't come up with the name i couldn't come up
and you didn't look it up no because i thought i have to look it up i can't go to sleep how
did you go to, I'm actually amazed
you could go to sleep.
Well, now I'm upset because it just came off
your brain in point one second.
I mean, it's not your fault. It's fine.
I'm not a lot of former catchers for the Astros.
I know.
Umberto Cantero, Hank Conner.
I mean, we can go down the list.
Ooh, quite a list there, unfortunately.
All right, sounds at 630.
We're going to make our NFL predictions.
Jonathan and Ross and myself will do that.
We're going to give you the Texans win or loss record.
Division winners,
wildcard and who are the two teams of playing the Super Bowl and who ultimately wins Super Bowl.
We have at 8.30 this morning, your case of I'm sorry's.
Dr. Roto's with us for his first of his regular Friday visits at 9.
We have non-Florida stories.
By the way, can I tell you really quickly?
I had a listener send me a non-flora story that was disgusting, which of course I would have read.
But it was back in 2018.
So you have to time date these things.
I was going to say, what's the problem?
Would you like to know at the time, what it was?
Give me the headline.
Roller Coaster Mishap.
Oh.
Somebody got decapitated.
No, but not great.
Okay.
Was it a real story, too, or when it was...
It was a real story, because I looked it at it multiple times, but it was dated.
A guy had diarrhea on the...
Oh, that's...
Oh, come on.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
I'm not going to...
I'm not going to mention it.
Take some pet don't go home.
That's nasty.
You can't go home if the diarrhea is up on the coast.
You know, though.
In mid-ride?
You can't, no, he's in, he was in line for 45 minutes.
He knew something was bubbling.
He shouldn't have got on there.
Yeah, it's really on, it's really on him, and then it's so it wasn't on him, and it was on other people, actually.
All right.
Oh.
That's why I'm not going to read it.
6.13.
You basically told us.
Well, the maniacs don't mind it.
There's something.
It's Friday at 613.
You need something to kind of get you going there.
It is Matt and Ross in the morning here on Sports Talk, 790.
We're Matt and Ross in the morning, 620 on 790.
I'm actually today in Providence, Rhode Island.
My daughter has a weekend tournament, and this is my last time I can see her actually play in person this year.
So it's a little bittersweet weekend.
I appreciate Ross.
I'm going up here to do that.
And then I'm going to the NBA broadcast meetings from here in New York City for a couple days,
where I'm going to hear about Steve Bulmer.
Apparently going to be going to be going to jail pretty soon.
Have you ever watching this or listen to any of this stuff?
I saw the, he's getting, it's like a federal investigation now, right?
Yeah.
What the hell's going on over there?
He's getting, he's getting, uh, he's getting RICO charges.
I don't know, but over Kauai Leonard?
I mean, seriously, the feds are getting in on a Kauai Leonard's salary cap circumvention?
I love it.
I love it because he went out there on Sports Center and he's like, they con me.
This was, I didn't know anything about this.
And it's like, I love when people who think they're above the law and just because they're
billionaires.
they're going to skirt away with everything.
When they get caught by the tail,
I'm enjoying this, quite frankly.
So basically, it sounds like there's some money laundering going on
is the issue here.
Yes.
Now, here's the question, Ross.
Do I have the stones?
Because I don't see Don Van Nata.
I don't even, if he walked in the room right now,
and he'd say I'm Don Van Nade.
I don't even know who that brother is.
But I know who Ramona Schobernates,
because she's on TV all the time.
And every time the Rockets are playing,
either the Lakers or Clippers,
I tend to see her there.
do I have the stones and go up to her and say, hey, your credibility's shot, girl.
Yeah, you should.
I mean, you're not going to say that, but you can think at any time she reports something.
They have egg on their face.
They got a, I don't know, they got a dozen eggs on their face.
Yeah.
And they haven't said a word.
They haven't said a word about it.
And secondly, they're a partner of the NBA.
I mean, state-run media.
If you have Ramona Sharburn, who is an NBA reporter, she's got.
Adam Silver's number.
She can call and say
Balmer called me.
I mean, I don't she doesn't want to do that.
But don't you have to
again, we talked about this on the show yesterday.
You got to cross-check this. It's ridiculous.
This is standards and practices. Yeah, this should be like
every journalism professor,
like on every campus in America,
he's slapping them all over
their presentations or lectures or
whatever and saying this is what you
do not do. Yeah.
All right. I don't know much more we're going to
that it just strikes me. It's one of the headlines
at ESPN today. No, it's sad. It's sad
because most people probably don't care.
No. You know, Matt, I mean, we're in this business
and we're supposed to be able to trust people and report.
The people, the populace are supposed to be
able to trust reporters. That's not even
not even talking about necessarily in sports
as well. Right.
And it just, it's been degrading
and deteriorating and eroding and it's just getting
worse and worse and worse. Well, I mean, the reality is this,
and I don't follow politics very closely at all.
But I'm sure this is happening.
like if a one side of the one political party says I've got the goods on somebody else and maybe you know
this is happening in just not sports oh yeah one thing happens it gets reported one way on one channel
it gets reported another way on another channel one channel doesn't even talk about it and the other
channel does both and I'm talking both sides by the way I mean it's just it that's a thing too
it's not only that it's not what you report it's also it may be even more important what you
don't report and what you don't talk about yeah so I just was I
I just have lost respect for, I mean, I've lost respect for the shepters of the world.
Rapinport seems to be okay.
But again, he's had his issues.
He's his issues.
But Shelburne, she's always had an L.A. slant because she and Jeannie Buzz are really close.
Balmer calls them and says, I'm going to give you my side of it.
You can go with it as gospel.
And they just didn't.
They did.
And they didn't do their homework.
And it just makes you really cringe about who you're supposed to trust in sports media.
You know you can also trust is Cameron Smith.
I can trust Cam Smith to get a home run three days in a row.
We're going to have a little 7 o'clock open with an ode to Camp Smith.
Okay.
I did something yesterday on Twitter that I have not mentioned at all this entire season when it came to Local 9.
I asked about the double-crush bus.
Oh, are we going to do that?
Well, that's the question I did post the people on the Twitter streets.
If you want to go and get your voting, let me know at SportsMT.
I said, do we pull up the Devil Crush Buzz for an AOS title?
Three options were, oh, hell yeah.
Option B was only if they're the number two seed and number three, wait till they win a wild card.
54% say pull it out.
But Ross, they're up three.
And they've got the tiebreaker.
Yeah, this bad boy is pretty, it's wrapped up.
There's 15 games left.
I can hear people in their car.
Don't say that.
I know.
It's jigs.
I know.
It's over.
And by the way, did you see how far they are from the two seat now?
I did not.
One half game, pirates beat the White Sox yesterday.
And they had the tie breaker there.
Yes.
I'm just going to tell you, I mean, I guess they're going to keep winning.
They're going to keep winning.
But they're just been so up and down.
And the White Sox aren't very good.
I mean, they've been petering out a little bit.
So now Cleveland is only a game and a half out of first place in their division.
So that thing is far from over over there.
And it doesn't upset the bracket we've been talking about where you only have to face one of the AL East teams.
So even if you're the two-seed, you still only have to face one of them.
So it would be a massive, massive advantage.
And here's the crazy part.
You keep winning and you beat the race, say, two out of three this weekend.
Yes, the Yankees are only three-back.
Now, they've got a little more room.
It's like they're three-back like the Rangers are to the Astros.
But the Yankees are playing better baseball right now.
Yank, honestly, yeah, they got freed back.
They've got Judge back.
Judges back, yeah.
I think you're kind of dangerous.
I hate when you talk like that.
I know you don't want to hear that, but because you know what I'm saying?
Every time I do that, I'm giving you an uncomfortable truth.
All right, so talk Bill's Texans like that way for me.
You want to?
Josh Allen could go off this week.
Oh, no.
I was supposed to do that, not you.
I don't think he's going to.
I still think this defense is going to be ferocious.
Week one, offense, we've already seen two unders.
Offenses aren't very good in week one in general the last few years.
because nobody plays anybody in the preseason.
So they're not in a rhythm.
The joint practices aren't enough.
It takes a few weeks for offenses to get it in the rhythm.
Defenses have the advantage.
And then, oh, by the way, you're the best defense in football and you're at home.
So I'm still feeling like they're going to be able to keep a lid for the most part on Josh Allen.
Shout out to Chuck Sports Park.
He thought I was thinking about Jason Castro.
No, I was not.
Because Jason Castro, because if you're thinking about names, if you're thinking about names, you can go, okay, Mark, Greg.
John, Jason.
Oh, Jason Castro.
Victor's not on the list.
Why not?
If I said you ramble off 25 men's names,
Victor's not making more than 25.
It's not.
What do you mean?
Go ahead.
Wimbignama?
And?
Carotini.
And?
You see?
Yeah.
You can't right off 25 victors.
Oladipo?
All right.
We're moving on.
The sounds at 630.
My stepdad.
His name's Victor.
Okay.
Shout out Victor Martinez.
Yeah.
And shout out Victor Caratini, who I could not think of yesterday.
And shout out Victor Caratini.
He was not from Italy.
Did you see the NFL's Twitter account was posting highlights upside down?
That's pretty funny.
Oh, because of the land on under?
We're going to place them in at work this morning, right?
We have to.
It's not bad.
It's not bad.
It's not bad.
It's not bad once a year.
It's not streets of Philadelphia.
God.
Come on.
People love that song.
They want to hear more of that.
People are driving off the side of 45 when we were playing that.
Well, we'll help to play it.
If the Rockets loses the 76, we're going to have to play it again.
Okay.
So we got a Philly song for Cam Smith?
Yes, we do.
Seven o'clock, and I already got it.
Is it before or after 1979?
Before.
The sounds at 630.
Folks, even when I'm 1800 miles away from me, he outs me constantly.
I just asked the question.
I know.
You did. And you gave me an answer. That's all.
Question, ask and answer. I get it.
The sounds at 6.30 after I tell you about uptown appliance repair.
Well, that sounds very inviting.
Well, it all sounds exciting.
That sounds like a threat. That sounds stupid.
And now, Matt and Ross bring you sounds at 630.
Derek Jeter has the greatest dating tree, right, Ross?
Is that we're going with on that one?
I would say so.
I would also say,
I should go first because we need to spend some time on yours.
Oh, please. Go ahead.
Which actually was the one that I was looking for.
Funny enough.
That's happened to us like three times now all of a sudden.
I'm sorry.
No, it's okay.
It's not anybody's fault.
It's a good piece of audio.
We'll get to it in a minute.
So yes, we got the sounds at 630.
I'm going to start, Matt, with what happened last night in Melbourne, Australia.
49ers lose, I would say, beat the Rams 27 to 7.
A lot of speculation and talk about the travel.
By the way, what about those?
15 people that went to Australia from the Rams and said,
this is all good. This is going to be good for us.
What a waste of money, by the way.
Yeah.
You got to ship them over to Australia,
and you've got to test them and the rhythms and all that type of stuff.
And then you lose 27 to 7.
Well, Sean McVeigh says it's all on him.
You know, the first thing that I'm going to look at is myself,
and I have to do a better job for a group collectively with our coaches,
with our players, and we'll look at this film,
and we'll get back to work,
because clearly that's obviously what we've got to do.
and sometimes sports can humble you
and today was one of those days.
I make no excuses.
And, you know, whether you want to say
it's about travel, whatever,
we just weren't good enough in that window.
I didn't coach good enough
and we'll look at it and we'll move forward
and that's where we're at right now.
But it was a great atmosphere.
Give credit to the 49ers.
They deserve it.
And we're on one and we'll move forward.
It's a Matt Brown in him, by the way, there.
You know what that?
It sounds like he lost his voice, I guess.
Yeah.
He'd been traveling basically for 48 hours,
I were straight.
See, here's what I don't know.
Maybe I can go look at flight or where.
Did they just jump on a plane and come right back, or are they spent the day like doing some sightseeing?
I don't know.
I guess you can go check their flight.
Yeah.
They got the A, whatever it was.
What was it, A280 or 380 or whatever?
A3, yeah.
Apparently, you have a certain amount of pressure in the cabin for a regular commercial flight,
and then they just found something, they added some more to it or whatever.
Again, they slept like babies.
There's more pressure or less pressure better?
Or it puts you to sleep.
Whatever it was, they sucked.
Okay.
Well, yeah, it didn't work in the second half.
I'm actually kind of angry at the NFL for letting this happen.
Honestly, I'd be brutally honest with you.
What do you mean?
I mean, I don't even know if the Rams would have,
I just don't know if, in theory, a 15-hour flight for professional athletes is ever going to be a good idea.
Yeah.
They were napping on the field in the second half.
They scored zero points.
Isn't that the teens' fault?
That's the organization.
Yeah, it's not an NFL issue, right?
Yeah, they can't order them when to move.
They did all their research.
And, well, they're going to go back to the drawing board on that research.
And the research sucked.
Yeah, it gets, that's been in the game at the end.
Oof.
Yeah, that's exactly what Netflix.
Like, I paid $180 million for this game.
I don't want any part of this.
Terrible.
Not good.
All right.
So let's get to Aaron Rogers.
The dating tree is really.
really good.
Olivia Munr.
I believe I'm correct on that.
Okay.
Danica Patrick.
Yes.
I mean, that's top shelf.
I don't really know who this other woman is.
Now, he's married now.
We don't know much about her because he's kept...
He's been keeping this one under wraps.
Shelene Woodley, I believe, is her name?
This other woman, yeah.
Yeah, this is an ex-fiance.
So, Aaron's not afraid to out everything in his life from his
past issues with his family, to ex-teammates, to Roger Goodell, to anything about
vaccines.
Yeah, any of that.
I mean, he's just, he's an open book.
That's right.
So, Shalene, if everyone were pronouncing it, right, got involved and they broke up,
and it was never a great relationship, it sounds like, but there's a little anecdotal
thing that Aaron Rogers brought up to his barsoil bros yesterday.
You know, then I date Shailene.
And I propose.
And she says yes.
Now she maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision.
She could have said no.
But not a couple days after that.
She tells me, you know, before you get married, I got to go, fuck this guy.
And I'm like, because her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her.
But the actuality is she told me that.
And then she took off the ring by March.
So I proposed in December.
Took out the ring by March.
And we had a couple times where we tried to, you know, get reunited and nothing ever happened.
And there wasn't even a relationship in 22 to break off.
She literally told me, I don't want to be with you.
After we tried to have some sort of reconciliation in 2021.
So I'm like, there's just a lot of nerves out there that are just not true.
That was kind of sad.
He's one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but he's one of the oddest birds of all time.
He just is.
My God.
You could use whatever CIA torture tactics, waterboarding.
I don't even care.
You would never get it out of me that I proposed to a woman and she said I have to go sleep with this other guy.
Yes.
Because you're so lame in bed.
Yeah.
It was what they call the kids call a heartfelt wedding stipulation.
She's like, I got to sleep with you the rest of my life.
I got to go get one more.
Yeah, how does that go?
Let me ask you this.
And he didn't run.
He didn't run.
You're Aaron Rogers.
Yeah.
As you said, Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick, whomever.
I don't know who Shailene Woodley is or whatever her name is.
Yeah.
I don't know her from Adam, but come on, man.
I'd imagine you could get somebody who wants to be with you, or maybe you can't.
I don't know.
is there anybody in this earth of ours and the answer obviously is yes is there anybody that we know
or ever met or ever even saw or met one time that said i have a beautiful marriage we've been
married 14 years we have three kids uh we have a nice picket fence we've got a beautiful home in
the suburbs we're just living our best life yeah and and you say oh that's great i'm so happy
for you anything strange happened before you get married yeah uh before we got married she came up to
me and said,
Greg,
I love you,
but there's this
guy was hooked up
with back in the day
that I want one more.
I want one more
little session.
Do you mind?
I got one more in me.
One more in me.
And I promise that this
I'll be devoted to you.
I won't cheat on you ever again.
Yeah, yeah,
I definitely won't be thinking
about him when I'm with you.
Yeah,
I mean,
I may scream his name
and you and I are doing our thing,
but.
My God.
I mean,
look,
I love honesty.
That's true.
And sometimes I think
on this show we're probably
too honest.
That should be a way.
makeup call.
And for him,
for Aaron.
And then he said he tried to get with her.
He was like,
yeah, sure,
whatever.
He must have said yes.
Because then he's like,
then we were together.
Then I got the ring.
And then she stopped wearing the ring four months later or whatever.
What did he say?
And then we tried to get back together.
Yeah.
And then she took it off in March.
So clearly she went out and probably did what she was going to do.
He probably said yes.
Right.
Like Jonathan,
I don't know if you're going to marry your girl on up.
But if she comes up with this,
Ross and I want to give you some very sage advice.
Don't let her do it.
to come to work.
My ego would be so shy.
Let alone sit on a podcast and admit it openly.
I got news for you.
If I got any deep, dark secrets of my life, that one is I'm going to be on this radio show.
My God.
Aaron, I mean, thank you for the honesty, but sometimes less is more.
Yeah.
Like your sex life.
You don't need to know every one of your life details.
All right.
642.
It is Matt and Ross in the morning here on Sports Talk 7.9.
if you want to jump in, you may do so.
We need a 6 o'clock maniac here.
It's anything goes Friday, and clearly the first 40 minutes is back that up.
713-212-5-790.
If you want to get anything from the Astros,
because I'm telling you, Ross, we'll talk about this in just a second.
I've always been kind of joshing with you about them wanting this thing
and maybe being the two-seed.
Now, here I'm going to probably curse this.
Unless they really screw this up, it's going to be very hard for them not to win this division.
Oh, yeah, it's, I'm going to say it.
It's done.
643. Sports Talk, 790.
Sam Smith's three days in Philadelphia coming up in about 10 minutes from now.
Ross, I have to look at the 4U tab.
NBA legend Frank Kaminsky, the third, chiming in on last night's NFL game.
NBA legend, Frank the tank.
Frank the tank.
He's still in the league?
I don't think so.
I haven't called his name in a couple of years.
Here's what he said.
Wouldn't he a first round pick?
Ooh, that Wisconsin team was loaded, right, with a bunch of,
bros that just never panned out right i'm sam decker oh yeah ninth overall in 2015 that's not
there's no way that was 11 years ago oh god now we're feeling old i know you guys here's a frank
the tank johnathan was uh had his binky and his blanket hey hey hey and he brought it with him
today to work ironically enough that's really strange as i go to bed tonight i'm thinking of those
15 ram staffers who conducted a two-year experiment trying to prove that the optimal way to
prepare for an NFL game in Australia
is to simply refuse to acknowledge that you're
in Australia.
So, let me ask you this.
No, Matt. Yeah, no.
So here's the reason why I think you and I
among other national media
were trying to sell, okay,
this could work. Because
if the Rams would have come out last night
in one by three touchdowns,
and if we would have spent all week being hot take machines,
Rossi would have said, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard
in my entire life. And then the Rams won the game.
Rams would be like, scoreboard, bitch.
You know what I mean?
And we would have, we would have looked stupid.
Yeah.
But we were trying to sell both sides.
Yeah.
But I mean, I was on the Niners side, though.
It didn't make sense.
Yeah.
On calci.com, use code 790.
You didn't get that 25 for 25.
Let's go.
But this will once, this will once and forever prove you can't do this.
You just cannot.
They're going to, they have to, yeah, people lose 27 to 7, but the manner in which they lost,
and the fact that it was the second half, they ran out of gas and got zero points,
That just, it's, it doesn't look good.
I've never seen a mattress put on the 30-yard line before my life in the second half of the game.
Yeah, it was weird.
It was really bizarre.
And they got turned down service in the game.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And they were serving warm milk instead of serving a water on the sidelines.
Yeah, that seemed like a mistake.
Yeah.
I mean, if you're the Rams, are you pissed?
Like, this is what you guys thought of two years?
Yeah, what if you're like Miles Gaird or whoever, I don't know, Devante Adams or whomever?
and you were sold this.
I guess they only know.
How did they feel?
I don't know what the players said.
We played the Sean McVeigh,
and he's like,
you can blame it on the research or whatever.
This is on me.
So I would like to, I guess,
try to look and see what players had to say
about the way that it was done.
You're not going to, for the most part,
probably come out and call out your organization
and say these guys are idiots
and we should have never done it this way.
But I do want to hear from the players
and what they thought about how they felt.
They're not going to talk to us until next Wednesday.
Like, yeah, you're putting us through this hell.
We're going away for a couple of days.
Let's talk to our buddy, Ryan and Montgomery.
Our time is 6.53.
Anything goes Friday here on 7.9.
Ryan, good morning to you.
Morning, guys.
Two things on Aaron Rogers.
One, she must have been a Tomcat in the sack for him to be like,
yeah, that's fine.
We can work that out.
One, and then two, he's just boozing.
I like to watch from the corner kind of energy, you know?
just hitting a discount double check while that dude just lays it on her that's insane i don't know
if anybody should ever admit that out loud he had to have been high i mean taking all the
viking and iowasca just yeah i can say that out loud in front of everybody that's bonkers to me
and then also i don't like jonathan catching strays be he in a blankie he doesn't deserve that he's a
professional all right thank you and i'll talk to you guys later
and fun. He makes fun of us for being old.
Yeah, by way, we don't know that
Ryan, that Aaron was
asked to watch, correct? He just, he didn't
bring that up. No, I think
he said just three cameras, right?
Oh, my God.
I'm just kidding.
I mean, I, I mean,
I'm scared he said yes. Because he's
like, yeah, man, then she asked me, she's like,
if I'm going to say yes, I got to bleep this other guy.
So anyways, we were engaged for a few
months after that, and she stopped wearing the ring.
It's like, what? Hold on.
wait a second
you left something out
I consider myself
a pretty good interviewer
he did a yada yada yada
yeah
and then don't you go back
to that first part
and just spend the last
half hour of your conversation
with him about that
like what the hell are you thinking
you're freaking Aaron Rogers
you've seen Olivia Munn naked
you've you've done the Indy 500
with Danica Patrick
man
I don't get it
Matt you seem so hurt by this
just like Aaron
yeah
Manhood here, Jonathan.
He finishes the clip.
We got to play that again at some point.
He finishes the clip and he's like,
anyways, I wanted to just dispel all those narratives out there.
What?
What narratives?
I didn't know about this.
I had never heard of this girl before today.
I didn't know.
I'm not trying to be in Aaron Rogers' personal life.
I don't care what his wife's name is.
I don't care what he's doing.
Like, I don't.
No wonder he had to go to Oregon to go sit in that dark room for four days.
When the fiancee's like, I want to get this other guy.
You don't want to be in there four days thinking about that.
All right.
We're going to be thinking about four days of Cam, or at least three days of Cam Smith.
That's part of our number two.
By the way, we are 35 minutes away from the definitive NFL predictions.
It's Matt and Ross in the morning on Sports Talk 790.
This is Matt and Ross in the morning.
Left field, going back on it Mars.
He looks up and a home run for Cam Smith, 10 rose deep, and the Astros League.
nothing. Eight team jacks on the season for Cam Smith. That doubles his output of a year ago.
This was Rockville to right center field. Hit very well, and that is blast the right center field.
And the Astros retake the lead. It's six to four. The Astros pitch on the way and hits it in the air,
out to left center and deep. Hill is back, looking up. I was on my Dark Forest Airlines flight
to Baltimore, and I was listening to Robert on the I-Hart app on the plane. With I don't know how
that I can technically do that, but I did it.
And I did a small little fist bump.
I did.
I was like Camp Smith Ross.
You fist bumped yourself?
Yeah, like a...
Or like a fist pump.
Yeah, pump.
I'm sorry, I thought you said fist bump.
I'm like your fist bumping the lady in the middle seat.
I guess I could have fist bump myself.
That would be kind of odd, but yeah, it was a fist pump.
The flight attendant?
No, no.
They were cranky.
Oh, they were?
Yeah.
Why?
Well, probably because you were getting up when the seatbelt light was on.
Not to me.
No, no.
They were just generally cranky.
By way, my flight, my flight to Baltimore, I probably had 50 empty seats on it.
I have never been on that empty enough flight probably in 10 years.
Hmm. Say again?
What's that?
What'd you say?
I said, we had 50 empty seats.
I haven't been on that kind of empty flight in that a long period of time.
Yeah, they're usually very, very efficient.
And it's funny because the first 10 rows were empty.
Those are the ones that you had to sit better and better seats.
The back plane was awful.
Hmm.
They didn't upgrade you?
I don't have to say.
That is. Let's go. Let's go. Let's get that sports MT upgrade.
I'm trying.
Good morning, everyone. It's Matt and Ross in the morning.
Anything goes Friday.
7-1-3-212-5-7-90.
If you want to get in, 7-1-3-21-2-5-7-90.
Without a doubt, ladies and gentlemen,
even though Cam Smith will go through a 1-for-19,
or he will challenge a strike call when it's clearly a strike or a ball.
He did that. Was it yesterday or the day before?
I think it was the day before.
And he still drives his nuts with that.
He's got to figure that out.
This trade?
I mean, Dana, we know that you're unemployed at this point.
But the Astros are crushing this trade with Kyle Tucker.
Absolutely crushing it.
Kyle Tucker, 684 OPS, 13 home runs,
Cam Smith, 20 home runs, 695 OPS.
Issaq Paredes,
Hayden Wisnowski.
Yeah.
Now, there have been parts of it that have hurt.
I mean, injuries, obviously, with West Neske being gone for a year.
Oh, no, a pitcher got Tommy John.
I mean, that happens.
I know, I was going to say, you know, and the sun's going to come up the next morning, right?
So, 0.3 war for Tucker, 1.2 for Cam Smith.
Even if you just go one for one for the outfield, it's a big win for the Astros.
Now, I don't think Cubs fans are doing anything about bemoaning this.
They're not spending any conversation.
I mean, they're thinking about the playoffs.
They might be.
well, I don't know.
I would assume that Cub fan isn't spending a lot of time
looking at the box scores of campsmen.
Now, if he becomes a 30 home run guy
and drives him 90 in the next two or three years,
then they're going to do that,
as we would do it here in Houston.
I mean, frankly, again,
if Kyle Tucker would have gone to Chicago
and hit 40 bombs and hit 119 RBIs
and held the Cubs to the World Series,
we'd have bemoan that because he helped the Astros do it.
Mm-hmm.
But you know what?
Very rarely in life, Ross, in trades.
Very rarely.
I don't say always, but somebody usually wins the trade.
To what level you don't know.
But Kyle Tucker is 60 million.
Now, Kyle Tucker ultimately won the trade.
Yeah, he's feeling rich.
It's like, I'm good.
I mean, those California taxes are a little much and a lot of,
he's got a lot of deferrals.
Right.
I think he's getting paid until like 2090.
Yeah, but from the pure on-the-field performance,
the Astros win, the Cubs lose,
and the Dodgers are really going to lose.
Yeah.
So, I mean, they're waiting, right?
He hasn't woken up at all.
No.
At least Bregman did for the Cubs.
He can opt in next year too.
That's their issues.
Yeah.
We're locked in on the two seed right now.
That's right.
Seattle, thank you, Seattle for winning two out of three.
Thank you to the pirates for beating those pail hose yesterday again.
Oh, my gosh, with the pale hose.
Yeah, I probably should say, I should probably stop.
because you're all going to thinking about why is Matt talking about white women that way?
I don't know.
What?
H-O-S-E, not H-O-E-S.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
The South Siders.
You say the Shy kind of a white socks.
I say shy socks.
That's fine.
The socks?
The socks.
All right.
Half game out.
Ross, the Astros, your little 500 basically the Astros all year long.
Well, yeah, 75 and 72.
Our one-half game out of the number two-seat,
which means it gives them an entire week-old.
I've been saying it's not going to happen, but if it happens, it does.
Oh, my God.
Lost three in a row the White Sox have.
And the Astros, look, especially of all the games to win,
yesterday's was the most shocking.
You had Christian Javier versus Zach Wheeler.
Yeah.
And Javier was on it.
And Wheeler was striking guys out left and right for the Phillies.
Yeah, he went seven innings of one run.
run ball, Javier, six innings
a one run ball. I expect
that from Zach Wheeler. I do not expect that
from Christian Javier, and that's a very, very
good. I mean, look, if we can get
Lambert, Wesnowski, Brown, and then
maybe Javier is your fourth,
then I'm feeling so much better about them
making a run in the American League playoffs.
I've not asked you this question,
because I have them winning a wild card
whoever they play. Especially if they're
at home, they're going to be fine. Let me
ask you this. How
much of a difference, and
I think you and I are going to have different answers.
How much of a difference will it be if the Astros can skip the wildcard series?
I think it's huge.
You go from a basically 50% chance.
I mean, it's a toss-up.
You go from a 50% chance of being out to zero.
And then you get the weak rest.
You're going to tell me Altube doesn't need a week off?
You're going to tell me Yorda getting a week off wouldn't be great?
Do you know the number one thing would be?
Resetting your rotation and getting them?
Absolutely.
It would be massive.
to me it's not even the rotation Ross
it's the bullpen you're giving those guys
yeah those guys too it's everyone
everyone yeah you're talking about bullpen
give everyday ochre I mean if he can get
healthy at some point with the hamstring injury
he's supposed to be evaluated in a week or whatever
and get him the week off
as you said I mean a bray you
hater is he had a light work this season
he's still looking pretty good
but everybody a week off
and I mean Lambert's thrown more innings than he ever has
Wesneski's
fresh off of Tommy John
getting him a week off probably not the worst thing in the world either it'd be huge i got terrible
news for you the two guys that need the days off more than anybody else frankly they can't because
they're trying to win a division are the top two guys in your batting order yeah hunter yeah i mean
is a yordon and painia i mean old man christian walker and altuvay giving alvarez a week off his
feet old man vasquez old man vasquez get them all off for a week absolutely it would be huge i i just hadn't been
it's going to happen, but the White So the White Sox keep losing and the American Link keeps being middling to worse.
So it can happen and they can do it and they can take advantage.
And then you have this starting pitching rounding in a form.
I'm feeling a lot, lot better about the prospects of a run in the American Link playoffs.
So here's what you have to do.
And this is the stupid, hey, here's Matt and Ross being dumb radio host.
If you're Joe Espada and that last week of the season comes into play,
you've got to put the pedal to the metal super hard.
You cannot slip up in Seattle because they're done.
You cannot slip up in Sacramento against the A's.
The Rangers are slipping up against them.
The Mariners are so weird.
You get crushed by the A's, and then you're beating up on the Rangers.
But my point is, you would think, okay, you get a week left to go.
You're trying to get yourself ready.
But if you are fighting with the White Sox, what a difference a number two seed could be.
You have to save arms.
You don't have to worry about putting the uniform on.
You can fly to Melbourne and come right back if you want to because you want to test the travel situation.
Yeah, they can do that.
God, that would be stupid.
I don't even know if Joe's spot of firing a fan guy can handle this
this being the two-see.
There's no way he's going to handle this, Ross.
No chance.
That'd be pretty funny.
I hope for Joe's sake, yeah.
They get the two-seed.
They go on a run.
Because, you know, we like Joe, of course.
We interviewed him for the last couple of years, and he's just a good dude.
White Sox, though, schedule is among the softest remaining in baseball.
Yeah, but I feel like we were saying that about the rain.
and the Mariners name.
Yeah, but listen to this.
They do have three with the Guardians, but three with the Rockies.
Oh, God.
Three with the Royals.
Oh, no.
Four with the tigers and three with the Cardinals who aren't good.
Well, the Astros have, what, three.
Here's their schedule.
It's not super difficult.
I mean, after this weekend, it's going to be very livable.
You got, well, you have Atlanta.
You have, forget about Atlanta.
But you have three with Kansas City.
You have the two in Seattle, and you've got the four in Oakland.
Or in Sacramento.
Yeah, you got Tampa Bay coming up.
Yeah, I got a crazy idea.
We're scared of contenders, case in point, Philadelphia.
I got a crazy idea.
Beat bad teams.
That's right.
Can you win three out of four against the A's?
Come on, let's go.
Yeah.
All right.
It's in anything goes Friday here on Sports Talk 790, Matt and Ross in the morning with you.
We are here until 10 o'clock today.
At 7.30 and 20 minutes.
20, 20 little minutes.
We're going to make our NFL predictions.
Now, truth be told, have you mulled this over, Ross,
or are you going to in the next five minutes
to think about this?
I'm thinking about this.
I'm in the lab.
We ran 50,000 simulations of the season last night
on my algorithm.
I'm ready to rock.
All right.
As I was knocking back my large beef sandwich
at the Baltimore airport,
thank you, Arby's.
I was a plate of fries
and the Jamoka Shake.
I came up with the NFC champion.
We're experiencing some turbulence here, folks.
There's a man in the bathroom.
I think you're on a roller coaster, Ross.
There's a man in the bathroom.
and he had Arby's.
Is that why a flight was delayed because of Arby's?
Yeah.
I'm telling you, Arbys, I got your back.
I didn't get nothing wrong with you.
713-212-5-790.
At 8.30, we're going to say our sorries,
and Ross is going to apologize to many fast food restaurants.
He's taking jabs out over the years.
And at 9 o'clock, we got Dr. Roto.
What is today's edition of Hell, yeah, or not, Ross,
in two hours and 40 minutes?
What?
giving you that much of a head start
Melbourne Australia
Have you seen Ross?
I mean have you seen Rod Ryan by the way?
No, I haven't.
Why don't you go in there and say,
What's up?
What's up?
What you text them?
I mean, I guess I could.
But I don't know what their clock is.
I mean, they're also making a lot more money than we are.
Yeah, I don't want to interrupt that.
You don't want to mess up their rhythm.
Exactly.
Is this a little hanging for us to do this to play a song from an Australian band?
Who's the next most famous band from Australia?
Oh, it's an individual singer.
Nicole can be no longer with us.
No.
Oh, I'll sing about you.
Yeah, let me do it, John.
Google says ACDC.
Oh.
They were in Houston last week, right?
I think, at NRG?
Or at Houston Stadium, yeah.
Oh, silver chair.
Good for them.
In excess?
I love NXS.
You do?
I do.
Yeah, I got multiple of their songs on my phone.
Okay.
A little devil inside.
All right.
Men at work.
There you go.
Men at work.
I saw men at work with one of the lead, the lead singer was part of Ringo Starr and his
All-Star band a couple years ago in Vegas.
His All-Star band, nobody knows their names.
no there's too many stars
there's so many all stars
well
we got the conga player from the lame
sound machine
all right
you know what
I bet you Terry in Ohio loves him
we get the pan flute player for minute work
okay
he was saying that song and he brought the house
now okay
as much as it would be for
what was his name
Tristan
sorry what
Tristan?
Tristan?
Yeah.
Where is he salty?
He's from Adelaide.
Okay.
See, that was not bad.
I did a pretty decent job there.
We're all proud of you, Matt.
Anything goes Friday.
We have our NFL predictions.
We're going to have some, Rossi, we choosing some serious NFL music.
What are we doing with our predictions?
When are we doing these?
In nine minutes.
Oh, yeah.
I'm down with some NFL music.
Or do you want something else?
It's up to you.
You made the call on now.
Because obviously you don't like men at work, and that's fine.
I mean, no, I said men at work is fine.
I mean, who can it be now?
It's a five out of ten.
Oh, that's even a better song, frankly.
Do we have last year's prediction somewhere?
Absolutely.
I had them all the way back to 2022.
Okay, well.
I mean, mine are easy.
I pick the Ravens every year.
Yeah, and I pick the Cowboys usually every year, right, Don?
You're the bills.
So first we're going to embarrass ourselves with how bad our predictions were last
year. I mean, the bills could get there.
Who was our producer a year ago? I forget. It was Jonathan.
Come on now. Jonathan, you're back with us
for a second year. We got his predictions.
Uh-oh. Chargers, let me guess.
Go Chargers.
Oh, boy. No credibility.
No credibility.
That's pretty funny.
All right. I'm going to ask right now. Terry.
All the way. Go ahead.
I was going to say, I was going to ask Terry his favorite
minute work song. But you said,
do we ever get them right? Do any
of these years?
Last year you had bills and me and Jonathan had the Ravens.
I had the Texans at 11 and 6.
You had them at 10 and 7.
Jonathan had them at 9 and 8.
Ooh.
L, L, L, L. L.
Yeah.
We were feeling pretty good about ourselves after that 0 and 3 start.
We were.
By the way, I got, I'm not trying to scare anybody here.
Year before you had the Bengals.
I had the Chiefs, actually.
In Bengals, I didn't make the playoffs, I don't think, because the borough was hurt.
You know, the Texans could go 0 and 2, right?
and still make the playoffs comfortably.
Oh, we both had Philly, I think.
I think we nailed it.
Did they win in 23?
Was that when they won?
No, there's no way.
We never get it right.
No, we don't.
Which year did the Eagles win the Super Bowl?
I don't know, but I was in,
I was in Philadelphia when they lost the Super Bowl.
The 24 season they won.
So we were a year early on Philly.
That's why people should listen to us.
We're ahead of the game.
All right.
Terry in Ohio, anything goes Friday.
Terry, good morning to you.
Good morning.
I want to send my condolence to all the people who lost loved ones on 9-11.
Absolutely.
100%.
Okay.
For the Astros, I think they finished the two-seat.
And when the guardians come down to Houston, I'll be there.
All right.
Great to hear.
Where are you staying?
What hotel are you going to stay at?
I have a cousin who lives in Houston.
I'll stay with him.
All right.
Will you fly first class or coach?
Probably first class.
All right.
And what will you do for your cousin?
Will you, like, buy some meals, will you pay for gas money?
You're going to buy his ticket?
How will you take care of your family member for him giving his place to live for you to stay?
No, he already lives in Houston.
I'll be staying with him.
I know, but what are you going to do for, are you going to buy him some meals, getting some gas money?
What are you going to do?
How are you going to make it up to him?
No, I give him money when I go down.
Okay, very good.
All right, Terry, anything else?
All right, Terry?
Yeah, okay, that's fine.
Can the Guardian sweep the...
We need them to sweep the White Sox.
Yeah, because it could be White Sox and Astros in the walled card.
No, no, it could be...
No, well, no, it would be nothing.
And then you got to worry about the Guardian's record, too.
Okay, so we need them to win two games out of three against the White Sox.
God, I'm so confused.
What do we want, Ross?
Just win.
just win baby yeah beat up on the raise
and then the royals and whoever the hell else it is
and then can you just win three out of four against the a's at the end of the year
yeah seriously you cannot go to west sacramento with a bunch of double a players
literally double a players and lose that series you know what i got a question for you
please okay because you're talking about joe spot i guess we're so maybe you already
answered it you put if what if the division's basically clinched
and you have a chance
at the two seed.
Yeah.
Do you use up your whole rotation to go for that two seed?
What if you're a game back of the White Sox going into that series,
but you've already clinched a division?
I need my bullpen rested,
and that's the eye on the prize is a week off for my Pena's,
my Alvara, for everybody.
But especially my bullpen and especially my top two guys who have struggled in the last month.
So I treat those games like I got a shot at number two.
must win games
yeah yeah I'd go must win
mm-hmm
man do you agree or disagree
I mean if it's like
second last game of the year
do you burn hunter brown
or you save him for the wild card
man that's tough okay okay well how about this
let's do this let's save hunter brown
hunter brown needs to be my game one
start of a wall card so I would probably
put him on ice
man well I guess I guess we can kind of go through
the days and see how it kind of
kind of goes.
Because the reality is this, if you need Hunter Brown to shut down the Staten A's...
You could beat the A's with Jason Alexander in theory, right?
Come on.
That's what I'm saying.
You can bullpen a game.
You can use an opener.
We're trying to save the bullpen.
Tatsu Yemai, get ready.
You know what?
Just ship Tatsu Yemai to Sacramento already.
We need them in three out of four of those games.
Get him, get him acclimated, get him in the weather.
Whatever's going in Sacramento, get him eating the food, get him on a daily routine.
Get him ready.
It's Tatsu Yemai's time to shine in Sacramento.
How about this?
He can pitch in multiple games and get to his 80-inning
in his annual bonus.
Use him in the first game and the fourth game.
Let's go.
Yeah, I love it.
I'll text Joe right now and tell him that.
728, time for us to make our NFL predictions.
How do we do last year?
More importantly, what are we going to do this year?
Is it that bad?
That's terrible.
All right, all of you get the no pads out
because we know what we're talking about.
It's time for the 2026 NFL predictions.
We're going to knock this out in one segment.
What?
Yeah, we're going to do as quick because nobody really cares.
Hey, I care.
We go cuss and we go discuss week one.
No, no, I can't.
I've been behaving by myself, too.
Oh, by the way, oh, well, I don't know.
We were we going to run through last year's a little bit or how much?
Yeah, sure, why not?
We don't have to go division by division, but you had the Texans going 10 and 7.
I had 11 and 6.
Jonathan had 9 and 8.
All three of us had them out in the divisional round.
Duh.
Duh.
You had the Bill's Super Bowl champs.
I went with the Ravens, as did Jonathan.
And for NFC champs, you went the Eagles.
I went with the commanders.
and Jonathan went with the Lions.
All three of us had the Texans winning the AFC South, so there you go.
All right.
So let's do this quickly.
We'll go first to the NFC.
All right, I'm going to go just really fast on that.
In the NFC North, I have the Detroit Lions one in the division.
Easy peasy.
In the NFC South, this one is hard.
This is the AFC West of Football, or the American League West of football.
I would think people are loving on New Orleans for some reason.
I'm still going to go Baker-Mayfield to Tampa Bay.
So I got Tampa.
I'll go with Detroit.
In the West, I'm going to go with still the Rams, even though they look terrible yesterday.
And in the east, I will go with the Dallas Cowboys.
Because I always go with the Cowboys for some stupid reason.
I mean, I think that's the right pick.
Okay.
Now, am I going NFC now?
Yeah, sure won't.
Okay, I will go with the Packers in the north.
In the south, we're buying the Tyler Shuck hype.
You're going to be there New Orleans Saints, baby.
No surprise you now.
I know why you're doing.
I'm going to New Orleans Saints.
In the West, I'm going to keep it simple.
I see Hawks.
Yeah, Seahawks.
They're 1-0.
I'm going to keep it simple with the Seahawks.
And then in the east...
That's probably the Cowboys.
Probably right.
You know, picking an NFC East champion is just dirty.
Right?
We don't like any of them.
Good, I guess.
John, NFC.
North.
The Bears, I don't know how we're forgetting about them right now.
Williams went crazy last season.
NFC South.
Again, we're forgetting about the Pets.
The Panthers that struggled mid and still made the playoffs.
I'm still taking it.
I feel like to fight.
West, I'm going to go see how they're nice.
Yeah.
And of course, we all are the same thing.
Cowboys are probably going to win the East.
It's terrible.
All right.
My wallet cards are Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago.
Ooh, Chicago.
I like that.
I am going to go with De Rams,
de Lions.
and the commanders.
Okay.
Daniels is healthy and bounces back.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Bucks, Niners,
and Packers.
Mm.
Hmm.
Okay.
I think the NFC North's going to be each other up all year long.
The NFC's tough, by the way.
Yeah, it's tougher.
Yeah, I think so.
All right.
Let's go with the AFC.
This is harder to,
because I don't love anybody in the
AFC. Does it make any sense to y'all?
I think the NFC is significantly
tougher than the NFC and the AFC is.
But I will do this.
In the east, I will go with Buffalo.
In the north, I will go
with Cincinnati.
And in the west, I will go with
the Chargers, Jonathan, there you go.
Go, Chargers, go.
I'm not a Bonnix guy, guys.
honestly, I just not.
I don't buy it.
Their defense is filthy,
but I just,
from an offensive standpoint.
And in the central,
your Houston Texans win the division.
But I also believe in the AFC South.
The Central.
It's Central.
AFC South,
they're going to be,
they're going to be a lot of beating each other up as well.
I don't,
okay.
Of course,
I'm going with your
Houston Texans as
AFC South champions.
I go back to the Chiefs in the West.
Seems simple enough.
Ravens,
the north, naturally, bills in the east.
The Chiefs.
Oh, yeah. Why would anybody
pick the Chiefs? That'd be dumb.
The Chiefs, did they really say it? Anyway,
East the Bill's
the Chalk.
North,
I'm going to give Lamar one more chance.
One more chance. One more chance.
Texans, of course. I don't see anybody in the South.
That's really going to hold on.
And, look, I'm not
going to be charter biased.
But? Oh.
I think the Bronzer.
Moncos got the West.
Oh, wow.
I actually really think they have a really good...
And I'm bullish humble Nix.
I'm the opposite with Matt.
I just think he's a really good quarterback.
And I don't have faith of my guys right now.
Okay.
My wallet cards?
Jacksonville, Baltimore, and New England.
Hmm.
Although Drake May super suck,
but that was the first game across the country.
I mean, Seattle's deep.
I mean, I don't think that's Drake May 17 weeks a year.
Now, it could be three or four more times, but we're looking to get a wild card.
You get four easy wins with Miami and the Jets in that division itself.
Cincinnati?
A new England?
Man, it got to be one of the West teams.
I'll go with, you know what?
I'll go to the Fade Nix with you, Matt.
I'll go with the Chargers.
Cincinnati, New England.
I don't have Kansas City in the playoffs.
Is that my nuts?
They missed it last year.
Have you seen my homes on these practice?
clips. I'm sorry.
It's going to take another year.
Okay.
And probably a new coach.
Does Andy re-retire that I don't make the playoffs?
Maybe.
Probably should.
Go lose some weight.
I'm worried about his heart. He's got, he's had heart issues.
He's had that same way.
He's carrying that same way for a one time.
Yeah. And then he didn't he have like a heart, didn't he have a, like a cardiac issue or something last year?
I'm worried about it. I'm sorry.
Okay.
It's just a fact.
You're making around.
Wild cards. Chargers.
Chargers. Jags.
And I'm going to be...
Let's go Jerborough on Cincinnati.
Okay.
Boys, Texans record this year.
I will start.
What was the other one? Cincinnati Chargers, who?
I am Jax.
I got Jacksonville out, by the way.
You don't put him in, huh?
Because you know what?
History's on your side.
Up and down. Up and down. That's exactly what he is.
All right.
I think the Texans get off to a...
a sluggish start and a sluggish end, the middle of the season will be very good.
They're going to finish.
And I told you the other day, I'm going to go down prediction because I think I got burned by my asterisk prediction.
So I'm just going to just take a step back.
Texans finish 10 and 7.
Okay.
That's what my season prediction is.
I got 11 and 6.
Okay.
I got 12 and 5 again, guys.
Oh, yeah.
Let's go.
Texas Jonathan.
I'm just, the defense is so nice.
I just don't see them losing that many games.
Here's the thing about Buffalo.
And again, I think I have Texas being Buffalo.
But man, if you're Buffalo, we mentioned this in the first hour of the show, folks.
They need this way more than the, well, I mean, you always want a week one win.
But Josh Allen has got to get rid of these nasty narratives about them in that coming to Houston and winning.
Except if the defense isn't allowed it.
I mean, it's not because the Texans just gift them scores.
it's because Josh Allen sucks because the Texan defense makes his life miserable.
So, I don't know.
All right, Ross.
I'm going to let you go first.
Jonathan, you go second.
Give us who is in the Super Bowl this year and who wins it.
Seahawks again.
Gosh, it feels so chalky, but they're just so good.
I think Judarian Price is going to be fine.
They've got a good running back situation.
Charbonne is going to get healthy.
Sam Darnel will get healthy even though he's hurt.
Bills.
What?
Yeah.
Seahawks, Bills, Seahawks go back to back.
What's up?
Wow.
Well, you are living off that one game, huh?
No, you're not.
Well, Drew Lodg played too, so.
It's not chalk.
Let's do bears.
Ooh.
That feels, that's the gut feeling.
Let's go bears and.
The Bears.
Caleb Williams.
Bears and Broncos?
The first starting quarterback in Super Bowl history to paint his nails.
Caleb Williams.
By the way, and Swamp Jason jumps in on this, and it's a fair point.
If I'm not in on Bo Nix, there's a lot of people who are in this country, then aren't in on C.J. Stroud.
I mean, Denver's defense, awesome.
Good coaching.
That's okay.
Quarterback.
They're having the same conversations in Denver that they were having here in Houston.
Is that fair guys?
I'm okay being long-term, CJ Stroud over Bo Nix.
Yeah, okay.
So go ahead.
Jonathan, what was yours again?
Was your AFC, Seahawks and MSR, and Bears and Broncos?
Bears and Brackos.
Broncos.
If the
Phoenix wasn't hurt last year,
they're going to
that's true.
They're going to Super Bowl.
You're right.
You're right.
Okay.
Jared.
I gave you guys this on a,
to tell the truth a few weeks ago.
Detroit's one of the NFC this year.
Okay.
Okay.
They will play the Buffalo Bills.
And the Buffalo Bills.
Play the over.
The Super Bowl.
I don't know how you have so much
facing Allen. I don't know. I can't see it.
Their defense concerns me.
It does. He concerns me. The quarterback concerns me.
Who wins the Super Bowl, John?
I would be more concerned about Buffalo's defense that I would be about their
about Allen's rising the occasion.
They went to Kansas City and put that, what, a ridiculous overtime game in 45, 44,
some crazy like that?
Who'd you have Bears and Broncos? Who wins, John?
Broncos.
I think a lot of people were sleeping on them after last year.
And then last year we did the Texans result. When will they be out?
Oh, God.
I'm sorry, you're out in the division round again.
Championship.
I'm with, I'm in Ross.
I think they're going to go championship.
AFC Championship, Houston, Texans.
So I have them out in the divisional.
You got them out in the championship.
Now, here's another question.
Write this one down.
This will be really, really good.
Annual average value of the next contract, C.J. Stroud signs.
Jeez.
Now, the only reason why this won't count is if he doesn't sign a contract at the end of this year.
So we'll push it on for another year.
But if he signs a contract between now and the end of this and the sort of next season,
what's his AAB?
If we're assuming the reports are right that he turned down something in the mid-50 range.
I don't know.
57 million.
Okay.
It's just a guess.
I know.
I get it.
I guess the bigger question is, do you think that C.J.
I'll dumb it down.
You know, a cap's going up.
I'm going 58.5 million.
We'll see you a $8.35.
Have an A.A.V of $60 million in his next contract.
You tell me.
I say no.
Okay, so what's, give me a number?
I'm mid-50s.
That's not a number.
55.
Okay.
John.
53.
Oh, man.
All right.
So let's do this.
If they lose, if, and you guys have.
been losing the championship game.
How does that game, how do they lose the game?
What happens?
It's a shootout.
C.J. Stroud throws five touchdowns.
Josh Allen throws six.
Okay.
And then you woke up.
Yeah.
Let me tell you some.
There will never be a game again involving Damico Ryan's a head coach where the word
shootout has ever brought up in the conversation.
It happened with the Buccaneers and the Texans.
C.J. Stroud's a rookie year?
I said it will never happen again.
He wants to play 13-10.
And every week.
Of course he wants to.
That's what he wants.
Let's see.
They have any kind of shoot?
Didn't Davis Mills shootout with the Indianapolis or something like that last year?
Texans lose a divisional game by a Kimey Fairburn Missville goal.
Wow.
Wow.
That sounds cinematic.
Oh, it was Davis Mills versus Jacksonville was the shootout.
Oh, see.
That was a shootout last year.
It was a shootout.
That's true.
38 to 30 against Indianapolis and Lillian.
last game. Because we here in Houston, we lose games in the most heartbreaking of fashions, right?
We don't just normally lose games. We want to lose them in extraordinary ways.
Well, I did see, now, you know, one score games can flip one year to the next. The Texans, there
were some, you know, NFL analytics guy who put out the Texans benefited the most from one
score game luck. Okay. Good thing. A good turn. Let's get a timeout in. If you want to give us your
Super Bowl predictions and how far the Texans will go, we'll just.
take them. I mean, matter of fact, I got a pen and paper
here. I'll write them down. And if you're right, we'll give you
your flowers. And
we invite you to
join in on this. 713-212-5-790.
7-13-212-5-7-90.
Somebody's going to be really, how about this,
Ross, Baltimore, Buffalo, Houston.
Two of those three cities are going to be
extraordinarily cranky with their quarterback.
Is that a fair statement to make?
I think everybody, well, everybody except for whoever wins Super Bowl is going to be cranky.
Yeah.
Yeah, I get it.
713-212-5-790.
It's Matt and Ross in the morning here on Sports Talk 7-19.
All right, we're going to say good night to the strippers in five minutes.
I don't know if Providence-Hord Island's prepared for that, but we're about to find out.
Let's quickly go to the phones and talk to Jason on 7-9 at 7-55.
Jason, good morning.
Good morning, my friends.
Look, man, the AFC is going to be very competitive this year.
There's no doubt.
As someone who's from Louisiana and loves Joe Burroughs,
I always want to say Cincinnati's going to make it there.
So I got them and the Texans in the championship,
AFC championship.
But the problem is, and I tweeted you and I brought it up,
and I thought it was a fair question.
It's the same thing with Bo NICs.
You know, same thing with C.J. Stroud.
Both teams have elite defenses.
You know the defense is going to get the job done.
But the problem is they're such good regular season quarterbacks.
And honestly, I thought at Bo Nix last year,
I thought they would have beat the Patriots, to be honest with you.
I would have picked him to go to the Super Bowl,
but that didn't happen because you got hurt.
It's unfortunate.
But, like, you want to see these guys do really good
because you feel like the team has done their, you know,
they're done their expertise on drafting these guys.
And I believe that they know what they're doing.
But with C.J. Stroud, you want to see him do well.
But the problem is you always hear, well, he's a great regular season quarterback.
But when it comes to the, you know, the playoffs, can you get the job done?
I'm tired of hearing that conversation because C.J. Stroud is better than people think he is.
Yeah, but the problem is, thank you for the phone call, Jason.
We've got to run to a break here.
Ross, Baltimore conversation the same.
Lamar, give me some of the postseason.
not so much Joe Borough
because Joe Borough is mainly a lot of it has been health
they're having this
Buffalo Radio is all about Josh Allen
A, beat the Texans in Houston for the first time and forever
and second going deep in the playoffs
and we're having every city is having these same
conversations. The only difference is here in Houston
is those other guys are already being paid
crazy amounts of money. The Texans have a major decision on the hand
whether to spend the money on C.J. Stroud
based off this result of this year. Those other guys
are being paid big money and they have multiple
playoff games where they have carried their
team to victory.
Yeah.
Does C.J. Stroud have one?
Where we're like, man, they don't win that playoff game without C.J. Stroud.
Thank God for C.J. Stroud.
This is Matt and Ross in the morning.
Two in H-Town.
And Ross in the morning. Sports Talk 790.
Should be better off doing an only fan sports network.
Hmm.
Not a bad idea.
Good subscribers.
Right, Ross?
Go to break.
All right, we're going to break.
Only fan sports network.
That'd be pretty damn good.
Don't you think?
I mean, I don't have a good account.
So I wouldn't be able to see any of it.
But you'd get my drift on this, right, Ross?
All right?
I can't mention that network because my wife is awake, so that's not going to happen anymore.
Oh, why don't you say it, Matt?
Who you wanted to be the voice of?
What network did you want to be the voice of, Matt?
The Houston Rockets.
I do some Cougar stuff.
See, I know you have loud headphones usually, so maybe she can hear.
Matt wants to be the voice of the only fan sports network.
She's just bringing me some coffee right now.
There's no chance she heard you.
Did you hear what Ross said off?
This is so uncomfortable.
My beautiful wife brought me coffee.
Oh, I'm sorry.
You're only broadcasting the thousands and thousands of people in Houston.
But you can't say it to your wife?
All right, Kim, I was talking about if I was asked to be the club I play voice,
the only fan sports network.
Tell her language.
She's leaving the room.
She's shutting the door.
And she says you're number one.
Yeah, you're number one, I bet.
Good God.
Good luck with that.
I just listen to the show very much.
I'm worried about you for the rest of the day.
You should be.
I'll have hell to pay at about 11 Eastern time.
I can tell you that for sure.
Good morning, everybody.
We are 25 minutes away from saying I'm sorry,
and I'm going to go ahead and apologize for my wife for the last.
29 years of our marriage for some of the things I may have said on the show to this in the sake of entertainment.
The Astros are in Tampa Bay today to take on the race three game series.
We have the Texans getting ready for the bills.
I did text Rod Ryan.
He did not respond to me.
Dang, he left you on red?
He needs to respond to what's up, what's up?
It's all right.
He's spending some Stone Temple pilots right now, man.
Leave him alone.
I can't, you know what?
Stone Temple pilots.
Then we can go with, after that, it would be the red hot chili peppers, and then I'm done.
I don't know what else you can hear.
There would be some Nirvana.
Oh, that's right.
I can bring up their control room right now.
What do they, let me guess.
They're doing bed dead at a headbed or whatever, that little segment is they do.
You got some three days grace coming up.
Don't know who they are.
And then we got some evanescence.
Jonathan, what's your favorite everness song?
No idea.
Yeah, you know that one song.
Wake me up inside.
That's this song?
Yeah, yeah.
That's the song?
That's a jam.
They play Nickelback on the buzz?
I'm sure they do.
Of course they do.
Okay.
Enough about them.
But how about us?
Keep it right here, folks.
All right.
You can go to 94.5.
HD2.
Yeah.
And we sound in crystal clear stereo.
It sounds really good.
Yeah.
Unbelievable.
I mean, we sound good at an AM,
but I mean, we step it up in the FM side of things for sure.
If you'd like to join us on anything goes Friday, 713-212-5-790, 7-1-3-2-1-2-5-7-90.
We mentioned Astros Rays.
We got no NFL football tonight, which is odd.
I mean, we've had everything else.
Last night's game was a complete dud as San Francisco beat the Rams 27 to 7.
Frankly, Ross, it was not even close.
That score isn't even indicative of how bad the game was.
Second half, 17 to nothing.
Stetson.
Stetson.
the fourth came into the game at the end.
That sounds like a golfer.
That's not a quarterback's name.
You know Stetson Bennett before?
Do you know Stetson Bennett was a guy?
Remember he was helping Georgia, right?
Yeah.
And everyone's like, that guy's a winner.
Yes.
I'm like, he's also 26 years old.
Yeah, we had people calling,
Hey, can you explain to me?
Stetson Bennett, how come he's not a first round pick?
Yeah.
Well, first of all, about 5'8.
All right.
second of all
look at that Georgia roster
well and also too
they put a hang time on his passes
he's yeah zippity dood out of the field
you know what I mean I forgot he went in the fourth round
at 23 good for him I figured he was going to be on an NFL roster
uh he I mean or maybe an XFL roster
or maybe a Canadian footballer
these three passes he threw with the first three of his NFL career
he was drafted in 23 so yeah so yeah
people were right I mean nobody was trying to catch lightning
but our thinking caps on folks that's right
That's right.
All right.
So we've had the one international game.
Again, I was noticing on Twitter, people were saying the same thing I was like.
It was weird because, you know, the game was nighttime in the United States.
And it was bright, sunshiny in Melbourne because there's, what is it about?
It was 10 a.
m.
There was the time difference.
I thought you said it was like 15 hours.
I think it's sort of, yeah, depending on what time zone you're in.
It's 11 p.m. there right now.
God, that's 15 hours.
Today, yeah.
They're ahead.
which is confusing because you go wet.
I don't know.
It's very confusing.
Let me ask you this.
Did that game do anything for the tourism of Australia?
I don't.
I mean, did it?
Or bad or indifferent?
Maybe they're trying to, NFL's trying to,
maybe you had some Rams and Niners fans there.
They're West Coast.
They could fly over there.
I bet you you absolutely had some people from L.A. and San Francisco who flew over there for the game.
To go to the cricket ground.
Commissioner Goodell was there.
Was he?
Yeah, he was interviewed.
Yeah, Crocodile Dundee, did the coin flip, right?
He's dead.
Oh.
No, is he dead?
No, Steve, the dude that was doing the
going on and jumping in the ocean.
Nicole Kidman sang the national anthem?
Are you making that up?
Oh, the crocodile hunter is dead, yes.
Yeah, Steve, what's his name?
Oh, Crocky!
I'm flipping a coin.
Steve Irwin?
Yeah, may he rest.
Steve Irwin's
been dead for a long time. Did you see that video of the people trying to get the stingray,
that stingray flopped out of the aquarium and they were trying to pick it up? Uh-uh.
I immediately thought of Steve over and I'm like, I would be, I would be sprinting away from that stingray.
What are these people doing? Stingrays are undefeated, by the way. They've never lost.
I mean, they're pretty docile, but when you pick one up, you're going to get stung.
Yeah, I want no part of that. But I mean, I've always wanted to go to Australia. But the whole thing about the sleeping
and the time of the jet layer.
And the giant and the giant and the cryy spiders.
And like the most venomous snakes of the planet.
So I'll go get me a 10 ounce filet and a blooming onion instead.
You ever go watch those old crocodile hunters?
You know exactly why Stephen Irwin died.
I mean, I'm sorry.
It was tragic.
I love Steve Irwin.
But every episode he's like,
this is the most dangerous shark I've ever seen in my life.
I'm going to jump in a pin with it.
Like, what are you doing, Steve?
Yeah, he was tempting.
He was looking forward to tempting fate.
Yeah.
This is most venomous snake I've ever seen.
I'm going to grab it by his tail.
Steve, just back up, dude.
There was like a
like a cheetah with like her cubs.
And he's walking, she's like growling at him, protecting her cubs.
He's like, all right, you're all right, mate?
You're all right?
She's gorgeous.
She can't understand you, Steve.
She just not speak English.
Jonathan, we add the Australian accent to the Ross Villarreal Wheels of Sound.
Just go watch the
Go if you have Discovery Plus
I did the free trial
So I watched a lot of them
If you get the free trial
On Discovery Plus
Go watch Steve Irwin Crock and all
You're like
How did this guy not die every week
It's crazy
Now he's got kids too
Do they do the same thing?
Yes yeah
I don't know what the kid
Is it Steve Jr.?
Bindy Irwinian
She does conservationism stuff too
But if she's not out there
Wrestling Crocs
But if I'm Avivok Caneval Jr
I'm not doing what Pop did
Sorry
It's not happening
They have a pride in his dad.
What?
No, no, no.
My dad died by a stingray.
I'm going to go forward to, no, thank you.
If you lost your voice today and you can't talk the rest of your life and your son want to be a broadcaster, you wouldn't be, like, proud of your son?
No, it's a media is a terrible business.
I would tell him to get away from as soon as possible.
You know I'm right, too.
Yeah.
A couple tweets coming in.
Stetson Bennett sounds like somebody who would have story from the Old West.
Are we going Stetson Bennett in the Old West?
Stetson Bennett the Fall.
He sounds more like a diplomat from Savannah, Georgia.
No, Stetson Bennett IV has a sweater tied around his neck at the country club.
He's not in the old west.
He's wearing Brooks Brothers.
Our buddy Ramshut.
How are strippers going to sleep at 8 o'clock being yelled at to go to sleep?
And then waking up at noon, four hours isn't healthy.
Yep, he's making a lot of good points.
They're going to bed at 8, but waking up at noon?
I'm sorry, I cannot put them to bed at 6 o'clock in the morning.
that will freak out our 6 o'clock on the maniacs yeah yeah you do what you want
eight o'clock is not preferred i get it but you know i think we wouldn't write the rules
uh we need to apologize to the people in about 15 minutes so you better get ready because
i know i've met a lot of you and you need to apologize i wrote down some people you need to
apologize to by way i want to say suck it to somebody on facebook we had a uh facebook profile of our
interview with steve tasker
And some dork on Facebook's like,
oh, why would you get the Buffalo perspective?
I wonder who he thinks is going to win the game.
No, duh.
We want to get somebody from Buffalo to give us their thoughts about the bills.
Yeah, why don't we, the Houston perspective?
Who do we think is going to win?
Like, duh, I'm picking the Texas.
You know what I did?
Because I'm a sarcastic a-hole.
I went on there and I said, you know what?
I'm going to get somebody from Tucson next week to preview the Bengals Texans.
Get a Matt.
Shut your bum ass up on Facebook.
And by the way, stop sending me 80s photos of you.
I'm not talking about you as in Ross or John.
Did you see that video I said you?
They're not that bad, Matt.
They're terrible.
One of our programming bosses, him and his wife are in their 80s garb.
They all look pretty much the same.
They do.
Yeah, Matt lived the 80s, okay?
Yeah, I was a kid in the 80s.
I was poorly in the 80s.
Dismum and trimming dynamic.
And then just...
There's your husky jeans.
That's enough from you.
Let's go.
Having your friends listen to the show, Ross, is not great.
Explain.
My buddy Ruma just sent me a photo of him.
and his wife and their two young kids
if they were back in the 80s.
Got to stop this.
I just don't get it.
I just don't get it.
It's not that interesting to me, but...
No, it's not. It's the same hair.
You know what it is? It's also, it's mostly the people
that are people that lived in the 80s.
Yeah. I live the 80s. I know what it was about.
Just put the pictures of you from actually from the 80s
because you weren't really dressing like that.
Oh, so since I'm in Zee?
Yeah.
So I did that for you, Matt?
Yeah.
No.
Send a picture of you and your girl.
Maybe at least it's a little different.
He was born in the 2000s.
Hey, remember I'm trying to help you out with something else, Jonathan?
That can end quickly.
Wow.
I know people.
What's wrong with you?
What's wrong with me is I don't want any more 80s photos.
That's it.
Wasn't a great decade.
Sorry, it wasn't.
70s is better.
90s.
Everything after 79 sucks.
It just does.
What?
I've said my piece.
Everything after 79 sucks?
Like the internet?
Oh, I love the internet.
Phones?
Cell phones?
I love smartphones.
Sports books everywhere.
Forget what I said.
Everything,
80 to 89.
What do we get out of 80s except Madonna and Michael Jackson?
Cocaine.
Crack.
Prince.
We got Apple computers.
We got MTV for a while until MTV became a corporate sellout.
I mean, that didn't do us any good.
Bruce Springsteen.
They don't watch videos of our favorite groups anymore because they don't make videos.
Let's move along.
Thank you.
Astros in St. Petersburg.
the race. Shall we say, Rossi, a future
American League Championship Series? Oh, St. Petersburg.
You don't even know what St. Petersburg is like. Oh, God,
it's sketch. I thought it was nice.
What was that, Tampa? Parts of it is.
But some of it's sketchy. Wait,
Miguel Uyola is starting?
Yeah, he's the opener as a kid who call him.
Oh, God. What do you mean? Oh, God.
Why not? Against Drew Rasmussen?
Mm-hmm. How are you feeling?
He's a righty, of course.
All we know the Astros do is win against plus 500
team, so I ain't scared about this weekend at all.
I mean, my gut feeling was
that they were going to go two and four on this stretch.
Look, winning the Wheeler
versus Javier game, that was a huge
upset, honest. So they were like two to one
dogs in that game. So getting that one done,
Christian Javier with a quality start,
six innings and one run ball, that was massive.
That was a massive, massive performance by
Hammett, and then you got the late Cam Smith home run.
So that was huge,
and we'll see what happens. I mean, they're probably
going to be, they might be
favored tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Rangers play the Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
Rangers dropping two or three to Seattle plus the long trip from Seattle, Phoenix.
I don't care.
Come back and bite me if you want, I guess.
I'm saying it's over.
You know what?
I'm going to step out here one second.
So I'm going to clear the space.
Ross, the next 10 seconds of the show is yours.
I will be quiet.
The Houston Astros are American League West Champions.
I got a friend who's texting me, don't say that.
Don't be scared.
Don't be scared.
Rangers ain't coming back.
Plus, you got the tiebreaker.
It's fine.
I ain't scared.
Hey, that friend of Ross that just texted you?
Send him an 80s photo of yourself to Ross.
No, he's not going to do that.
You've got better friends than I do.
Poor guy.
He's a Kug fan, so you know you guys have PTSD.
Wait a minute.
What?
I'm about to go 2 and 0 this weekend, baby.
Overs against Southern?
I guarantee it.
You guarantee it.
Guarantee.
Can you all beat Texas Tech, please?
We're going to.
Yeah?
Yeah, I'll be there to help myself.
I'm actually, Willie Fritz is asking me to do the pregame speech.
Oh, God.
What do you mean, oh, God, I can do it.
I'm motivated this show last week.
U of H trading at 24%.
What's the line on that game?
Got to be out.
Is there even a line on FBS games?
I guess there could be, right?
No, I'm talking about tech in Houston.
Oh.
Not this cupcake, you guys scheduled?
Cupcake.
We didn't realize Southern was going to be Southern.
Oh, sure.
Shut up.
What's the best season
Southern's ever had?
Should be embarrassed.
Don't look.
Do you know what the line is on Houston Southern?
48.
51.5.
Dang.
The total is 60 and a half.
So not only do they think the Cougars are going to cover the 51,
but the Southern may not score in double figures.
Ooh.
Houston struggling against
Oregon State, they work 24%.
Now they're trading at 21%.
How about this?
You could not bet money line on Southern.
Matter of fact, you cannot bet money line
on either one of these two teams.
Nor should you want to.
They job the money lines.
Sportsbooks are terrible.
That's why you've got to do Cal She.
Trade on Cal She's just saying.
7.90, you get $7.00.
Get $25 to get $25.
$25.
$25.
All right.
Very nice start to the NFL season for me.
it is okay yeah um and uh oh okay i have the texans winning this by seven this week
wouldn't be shocked they lose again that's why shouldn't anybody be shocked by anything but
i really in my mind you think demico ryan's gonna be in a seven point game it's usually about
two okay yeah it could happen i yeah i go what we didn't even do a final score are we
gonna do that at some point yeah i wouldn't do it right now or what are we come
I'm bad.
No, we got to do it.
I'm sorry, so let's just knocking out right now.
Okay.
I got it at 2417, Texans.
2417 Texans.
Sound right to you?
2220, Texans.
Okay, that makes sense.
Because that's what, that's what Domingo likes to do.
Yeah, that's like, that's Fairbairn.
He's got about four field goals in him, maybe five.
By the way, can I, you know what?
I think you owe me an apology.
I think I think you owe our league an apology.
For what?
You'll find out next.
you need to apologize to someone or something you've done this next half hour of major market radio known as madden ralston the morning can satisfy you
30 minutes Houston radio begins now by you calling 713212-5 Cibonati and simply uttering these words
I'm sorry so sorry you need to apologize we're here for
for you.
713,
212,
5, 7.
I've got a few
I need to get off
my chest here.
First of all,
I want to say,
I'm sorry to
my wife for
suggesting I should
go work for the
only fan sports network.
That still hasn't
gone too well
so far in the last
half hour here
in the house.
I'm so sorry.
Number two,
I want all of my friends
to say sorry to me
for sending me
their 80s photos of
themselves.
You can't ask for sorry.
That's not how this
segment works.
Well, they need to call me
and say they're sorry
because I'm sick
and getting them.
I'm getting them on
Instagram,
I'm Facebook.
I'm getting text. This is ridiculous.
Enough.
Okay.
I'm just going to turn my phone off.
You know how hard that is for me to do. I'm going to turn it off.
I don't believe you. I don't believe you for one second.
That's probably right.
Let's see what else.
Are you keeping a list of what I'm apologizing for?
Yeah.
You need to apologize for that guy that you never respond to his emails.
Oh, he knows.
Mike.
He knows what?
He knows you're a jackass?
Yeah, what does he know, Matt?
He knows you're rude?
No, I told me.
unless I was honest with him.
I thought a lot of
I said I'll get right back to you.
Yeah.
Oh, come on.
There's a lot of you out there that say,
I'll get right back to you,
or I'll call you as soon as I can.
That's a lie.
I told the guy,
straight up, I'm not returning your emails.
Ever?
You never said that.
You said to him at some point,
I will never respond to your emails?
No, I said, I'm done to responding your emails,
but he still sends him.
Okay.
He calls a show, he listens to show.
Well, you got upset with him or something?
No, he doesn't know.
He knows we're not mad mad at him.
He's listening right now, probably.
I'm sorry, Mike.
Mike, I'm not sorry.
I told you I was open and honest.
Sometimes you can handle the truth.
And Mike, to his credit, can handle the truth.
I'm sorry.
I can respond to his emails.
What else did I do wrong?
That's all I wrote down.
That's good.
A light week for me, right, Jonathan?
I'm thinking.
I'm trying to see what you can start to say.
You've done some more stuff.
You've got to think about that.
All right, Jonathan, your turn.
I want to
You know what?
What?
You know, I'm going to put your girl on one week.
Because apparently she won't have very difficult time thinking of what you've done wrong.
That's what I was actually about to go apologize to.
Wow.
Good.
But anyways, I want to say sorry to her because she, I help her in her volleyball games and help assistant coach, whatever.
But these reps in this certain league are calling the most outrageous on these middle school girls.
They're calling this the, I'm grade's calls.
And I kind of got rowdy to a point where, like, you know, I had to like check myself and she's giving me the death stare across the gym.
Like, behave.
I want to say sorry.
I just care too much.
I want team to win.
I'm sorry.
And when they don't get the calls, right, they need to be called that on.
You, under no circumstance, should be talking about your girl's softball.
You cannot be that guy.
I'm not talking about the ref.
I'm not talking about the team.
I'm talking about that.
Don't talk to the ref.
Don't do it.
Walk outside.
Yeah, they're out there getting underpaid.
They're not acting like they're underpaid.
They're not acting like they're in the league.
They're acting like they're professionals.
I'm just saying, man.
We're calling a double-touch on these little 12-year-old girls.
Come on now.
Oh, no what.
Stop.
You know what?
No, no, you need to be sorry.
You need to apologize to everyone.
If you're a 12-year-old game referees.
No.
No, if you're official anywhere.
softball, baseball, cricket, whatever.
You need to be apologizing to everyone who's helping out these Youth League girls who can't have a team without officials.
And this clearly thankless job they're working, Jonathan.
Oh.
Nah, and I have parents rallying behind me.
Oh, my God.
I see why they do that at Little League games with those baseball.
I see that.
What do you think they're betting on the spread?
They get drunk on powers.
I had to stop myself.
Well, yeah.
They do get drunk on power, but.
I'm apologizing.
But these reps, come on, man, let these girls play, man.
I got news for you.
I got a question.
What's your endgame on this?
You think the girls would be like,
maybe I thank you so much for having my back for my team.
What is your end game?
Because I realized that after she gave me that stare,
I'm like, you know what?
What am I helping them or am I making it more, you know,
because the girls know me.
So it's like, maybe I'm doing a little too much.
So, I don't know, man.
I just, you know, you can overprotective.
You want the team to win?
Like, that's not fair.
Call on by the side.
My coach's boyfriend got a red card.
You weren't home to tell all the parents about them.
We're so proud of you, Jonathan.
Terrible.
Ross, what are you apologizing for?
I know you got a few things.
Well, I would like to apologize to Arby's,
even though your food is not good.
But questioning while you're still in business,
that's rude, cross the line.
And look, it's not my fault.
Nobody was in line at your Baltimore airport location.
People have flights to catch, Ross.
People have flights to catch.
Oh, people have food to eat, too, in the airport.
There's people on delay, like you.
and that girl in her thousand yards stare.
What was I thinking?
But anyways, I would like to apologize to Arby's for besmirching you all week long.
I understand you have the meats.
Now, I don't want to touch any of that meat that you have, but I appreciate you for staying in business.
Good on you.
I want to apologize.
The people at the Baltimore Pub Airport Airport Pub, they were asking, they have four ounces of meat cut up.
And all it says is just put salt and pepper on it.
four ounces of meat was $18.49.
What?
What are you doing Baltimore Pub Airport?
Was it A5 Wagyu beef?
I don't know what it was.
It couldn't have been at the airport.
You don't have served Wagyu at the airport, do you?
No.
It's probably Chuck.
Or grade F, USDA.
It's prison grade.
That's why I went to Barbies because I was like,
damn, I'm not paying 1849 for four ounces of meat.
Do you get some horsy sauce?
No, I always get the Arby sauce.
What the hell is horsy sauce, by the way?
It's made from a horse?
Why do they call it that?
Okay, horseradish.
That makes sense.
Why is it called horse radish?
That's another question for another day.
We don't have to answer that.
I just don't think that one.
I'll Google it.
Anything else, Jonathan?
Ross, before we go to the phones?
Yes.
I went to the archives of gut feelings.
On June 23rd, Tuesday,
I gut feeling that the Astros would not make the playoffs.
They had been four and a half, five games.
out of first place.
They were five games under 500.
And on July 21st,
I also got feeling that they would not make the playoffs.
You know what?
I was wrong.
I doubted them.
And I'm sorry.
They're going to be AOS champs now.
I'm sorry to the Houston Astros.
I'm sorry.
And mostly Hayden Wisniewski
and Peter Lambert for keeping it going.
Josh Hader for keeping it going.
A brave for turning things around.
A lot of stuff has fallen in a place.
They're playing better.
They just beat the Phillies two out of three.
Camp Smith has hit home runs in three straight games.
They could round into form of being an actual dangerous playoff contender.
I didn't think it was going to happen.
I'm sorry.
To Barrett Sousa or Bennett, not Barrett.
He didn't apologize for getting his name wrong.
Bennett, Sousa, and Brian King, I'm sorry, but I don't want to ever see you guys.
See, that's not an apology.
Yeah, it is.
I apologize for something you've done or a misgiving of yours.
You need to apologize for apologizing for that.
I was apologizing for my opinion, which could be wrong eventually.
Sorry.
Sorry.
But right now that's right.
Bennett-Suzzo was good last year and the start of this year.
And Brian King was great for about two months this year.
And he got optioned.
On the phones next.
Say you're sorry.
The next segment is yours and yours alone.
713-212-5-790.
Real quick, Dr. Roto joins us in 10 minutes.
Non-4-stories at 9,000.
Gentlemen, my story...
Sorry about that weather report.
Yeah, whatever.
My non-flow story revolves around the elimination of toilet paper.
What?
Yep, you hurt me.
Okay.
You said you're going to say something about our fantasy league.
Sorry?
Some kind of sorry?
Oh, yeah.
I'm sorry that we don't use kickers.
I think it's terrible.
We should have kickers in our league.
Well, okay.
I am a commissioner who is man of the people.
First of all, I don't want, why do you like kickers?
It's just, it's a scoring. It's part of the game.
I think it's too random.
There's not a lot of skill involved in it.
I get it if you're trying to put it a little bit more element of the luck.
So we left defenses in there.
But I do a survey every year.
Not every year.
I've done it a couple.
I think this has been a couple years since I did it.
But I did another survey asking the league.
They wanted kickers.
They wanted defenses, playoffs.
How many teams make the playoffs?
Playoff formats, some other stuff.
and the overwhelming majority of people that responded to the survey did not want kickers.
I don't want kickers, so I eliminated kickers.
You should be sorry for wanting kickers.
I'm sorry that you guys aren't realize the value of kami Fairbair because D'Amico Ryans does.
Let's go the phones.
Jacob on 7-98.
Jacob, what are you sorry for?
Hey, what's going on, guys?
We're good.
Good.
Hey, I just want to say I'm sorry to Mr. Ross, man.
whenever my Texas Tech Red Raiders put BTA to those Houston Cougars, man.
Well, you don't have to be sorry to me.
Matt's Matt's the Coog fan.
I am rooting for the Coogers.
Well, whoever it is.
Whoever it is?
I'm sorry.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter who it is, Jacob says.
They're going to get BTA.
Jacob, when did you go to Texas Tech?
Oh, I don't know.
It doesn't matter.
of you with the Texas Tech or not.
You're going to live on a fine night.
That's a good one.
That's a good one.
I like that.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate the phone call.
Now go to hell.
713-212-5-7.
What?
You told him to go to hell?
I mean, not literally.
You apologize to him for that.
I don't think so.
I'm fine.
Don't get me.
I'm seeing 13 and a half, Red Raiders.
No way.
They're not 13.5 points, but I know. Guess what? Cache.com, pal. Get on there.
Let's go Homerific.
I'm going.
Zero.
Zero. What are you sorry for?
Hey, guys. I just want to tell Ross, during the 10th any show, you know how he guys gets all mad and hangs up on everybody.
So I call him the totalitarian peace.
So, sorry, Ross, but I love you guys.
Who did I hang up?
hang up on people.
Yeah, you do.
No, I don't.
You're rude to people.
Oh, my gosh.
By the way, I'm getting,
I'm getting celebrity text.
Rod Ryan?
I will not name this person.
I think you need to say,
you're sorry for all the stories
that you're saying during the segment.
Man,
everybody's a damn critic around these parts.
What stories?
I'm sorry.
Just stories in general of my life.
I don't know.
It's not,
By the way, I will not be in the car at the game on tomorrow, for those of you're asking.
You know, the Cadillac.
What do they call that thing, Ross?
The slab.
The slab, yeah.
I should have known that, right?
That's fine.
No.
It's fine.
No.
It's fine.
Let's see.
14 to 13 and a half.
13 at some books for Houston versus Texas Tech.
Put your, hey, we're going to go to Lubbock and we're going to win that game by, I don't know,
seven to ten points.
Look, I like Texas Tech.
My oldest went there.
You got to get the alternate line.
You can't get the alternate line.
Houston minus seven.
That'd be quite profitable for you.
Yes.
I'm going to do it right now.
I'm just telling you.
Progulent.
Sorry.
I'm choked up here.
I'm going to find you Cody Campbell and you're going to cut us a check.
No, you're not.
You're going to have you shipped out of there.
No, he won't.
He's going to have you roughed up.
Security is going to bang your head on the door on the way out.
I let the source be elimination of Texas Tech.
The least he can do is acquies.
and let us beat them again.
Well, they're trading at 21% right now.
We trade 100% victory when I'm up in Lubbock winning and celebrating that victory.
All right.
You keep talking a big game.
And then I'll be slapping at the other games or other home games this year.
Yeah?
Yeah.
By the way, Cougars, 51.5 point favorites will be playing at home for getting southern tomorrow.
That's a stay away for me.
No, it's not.
It's a play.
51 and a half savings on it.
That's meaty.
Joe and Humble, before we get to Roto, Joe on 790. Good morning to you. What's the matter with you?
Good morning, Matt. Ross, how are you guys?
Yo.
Hey, hello?
Go ahead.
You're on.
Hello. Can you hear me? Okay.
Yes.
On the Astros, guys, what has happened to IMA, he made?
He pitched the other day.
He gave up a couple runs.
He did?
Out of the bullpen?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Okay.
I missed that.
Because I hadn't seen him pitch in a while.
I was just wondering.
Where have you been?
Hey, pitching the Philly series.
Okay, appreciate it.
Thank you.
But he didn't pitch for 80s for that.
He was running on tape delay, right?
Maybe.
I think so.
Maybe he was calling us from Melbourne.
But they don't have a 15-a-half-hour delay in phone calls, do they?
Maybe.
Let me say I'm sorry for that call.
He's pitched.
Oh, sorry.
Since the start of August, he's pitched five times.
Yeah, they're trying to keep him under 80 innings for an incentive.
And plus, there's not a lot of low-leveraged situations.
The Astros pitching has been pretty good and the offense has been messed.
So you've had a lot of higher leverage.
Yeah, they're trying to keep his arm fresh for the deep postseason run.
They're trying to keep under 80 innings, too.
All right, let's get to Dr. Roto, Ross.
You wanted to do that?
Yes.
And we're going to do it with Kalshi, too, correct?
Well, yeah, I mean, Houston's trading at 21%.
I'm just saying.
You should be saying it.
And I should ask all of you to get...
Yeah.
Get ahead of the game if you want to.
We got college games.
I've got to Ohio State, Texas, this week.
Got to get involved in that.
Ooh, yeah.
Did I make a trade on that?
I think I'm right out.
Speaking of Texas Tech, they play Oregon State this week, and the Cougars beat Oregon
said already, so we already know how it's going to work out.
That'll be a little measuring stick just to see how bad they beat them.
Yeah.
This is Matt and Ross in the morning.
Yay!
The fastest 30 minutes of major market radio begins right now with the second edition of now weekly appearances of our friend,
the one, the only Dr. Roto here on Sports Talk 790.
If you've got a question for the good doctor, you may join us at 713-212-790.
7-1-2-790.
Dr. Good morning to you.
Thanks for joining us per usual.
I don't know
I know it was just the first week
we've only had one international game
Are we starting to get really scared
about using our star players
And international waters
Because man if I had some Rams players
I was pretty disappointed
On how things turned out last night
Yeah I mean you sit there and you go
My team has Drake May
I've got A.J. Brown
I've got Devante Adams
I got Judarian Price
Your team's not winning
And it's you know
This is the part that we hate about fantasy football
right we put it all the time in an effort into drafting our teams and getting it right and you have all your star players are in these opportunities and demarcus robinson catching a touchdown and uh not devante adams so look week one is a mess because preseason is changed right guys are not playing in preseason really week one and week two are almost like play in games in terms of guys getting uh game in game shape so it's going to be a little rough for the first two weeks you just want to try
try to get at least one win, hopefully two, and then by week three, things start to settle down.
All right.
So I would assume if you've got one of the premier receivers in the game and he happens to wearing a Seattle uniform,
it doesn't really matter who the quarterback is because we saw that man get to the end zone on Wednesday night.
But general thoughts about how Seattle moves now with a new quarterback, at least for one week probably.
Well, you know, the interesting thing is Drew Locke has been around, right?
It's not like he hasn't played in the NFL, like he hasn't started.
I probably used him in fantasy a couple of times myself out of desperation.
He can get the job done.
I happen to really like Jalen Milro.
I don't think you can play Jalen Milro at Fear Seattle.
I think you'd go with Drew Locke.
He was efficient last week against a good New England defense.
You still have J.S.N., who is arguably one of the top three wide receivers in the league.
Gadarian Price looked really good.
So I think you can get through it.
Look, Sam Donald won at the Super Bowl,
but it's not like he was the greatest quarterback we've ever seen.
So, I mean, if Sam Donald's and seven and a half out of ten,
you're locks a six and a half out of ten,
you're relying on your defense, you're relying on your running game,
and you have JSA makes him plays.
So many questions I have for you this week.
A thought about Daniel Jones,
because we're going to be paying attention to Ravens and Colts
because those are two teams that in theory
with the Colts being the EFC South,
Ravens being a title contender.
What are your general thoughts about him coming off of that massive injury
and how the Colts move in 2006?
Yeah, I'm a little, I'm bullish on the Ravens and I'm bearish on the Colts.
Why?
I like the new coaching staff in Baltimore.
I love Jesse Minter.
I think this guy is the next great coach.
I really do.
I think he's got a little bit defensive Ben Johnson in him, right?
He's won at Michigan.
He knows how to do this before he's coached under Harbaugh.
And now you get a team in Baltimore who's ready to win.
You have Declan Doyle, who I think is going to be a head coach next year.
So I like Lamar Jackson.
I love Derek Henry.
I love Zay Flowers.
I love Mark Andrews.
I think they're all absolutely in play this week.
On the other side, I think we're looking at a team in the Colts.
We were like, how is Daniel Jones going to do?
He really didn't play much in training camp.
He's starting to ramp up.
Alec Pierce is ramping up.
Josh Downs is ramping up.
All these guys were injured at some point during training camp.
We know Jonathan Taylor is great, but we don't know about the rest of the Colts.
That's the issue here.
So I think what we know is the Ravens are going to score.
We don't know if the Colts can stay up with them.
If they can, this may be the game that breaks out MT,
and that's the game you won in fantasy.
All right. Cowboys play the Giants on the Sunday night opener.
When we were fantasy drafting last week,
Jackson Dart's name was way high up on the list.
And I kept saying, okay, somebody either is going to take him
or help me why ESPN loved him so much.
So let me ask you, do you like him?
The reason why I would stay away from him is again,
he likes to run himself into concussion issues all the time it feels like.
You know, it's so funny you said that because I only did one draft on ESPN this year.
Mrs. Roto had a work draft, and I, you know, I might have looked over her shoulder, right?
I have never seen an ADP list or a rankings list as whack as ESPN.
I mean, guys that I was taking around four or five are like 50 and 60 on their list.
It was unreal.
Listen, Jackson Dart is fine, but I think what your problem is, Matt Nagy is not a great offensive coordinator.
Okay, that's been proven.
Secondly, the Giants are absolutely terrified of this guy getting more concussions.
So they are going to scale him back.
I don't think you can scale a thoroughbred back.
That's the problem.
You need to let Jackson Dart be who he is.
He's a little crazy.
He's got a slingshot for an arm.
He can throw the ball 80 yards down the field.
And he loves to run the football.
When you harness that, you're losing the best abilities that he has.
So I am absolutely very worried about the Giants.
Cam Scataboo leads with his head.
That's never a good thing.
Malik Neighbors is coming off a horrific injury.
So look, the Cowboys are dealing with their own injuries,
but I think the Cowboys are really in a place this year to win that division.
If that defense could take another step up with Caleb Downs,
who I think is going to be all over the field and a real nightmare for the Giants.
So I'm playing DAC.
I'm playing Javante Williams.
I'm playing lamb.
I'm playing Pickens.
On the other side, I'll play Scataboo,
and I won't feel great about Dart,
but if I had to play him, I will.
Otherwise, there you go.
We're going back to the AFC South
before we get to the Texans' Bills game.
Brown's Jaguars, Sean Watson,
the de facto starting quarterback.
It feels like Trevor Lawrence has up year, down year,
up year, down year.
What are your forecasts for the Jaguars,
not only this week but this season,
but what a realist?
expectations for the skill position players.
I guarantee you nobody's taken to Sean Watson as a quarterback.
Oh my God, not in this lifetime.
So here's the problem with Jacksonville.
I love Trevor Lawrence.
I do.
I think he's going to be a great spot this year.
He's got a fantastic head coach, and they were jelling in the second half of last year.
Outside of Parker Washington, who I really do like, I'm not sure you can count on Jacoby
Myers because he's good, but he's like eight to ten points a week.
Brian Thomas Jr., I don't know if you guys have seen the math.
matchups that he has against opposing cornerbacks.
But man, it's brutal over the first seven or eight weeks.
This guy, I don't know, be very careful with him.
Then he's got Bachel Tutin and Chris Rodriguez who are going to be splitting carries.
So what am I getting at?
I'm getting at a situation where week to week outside of Lawrence,
you just don't know where the football is going.
And that's the problem.
We want guys who are reliable and outside of Parker Washington,
I don't think there is a reliable player.
Cleveland is going to be an unmitigated disaster for the first two weeks until
Deshaun while Deshaun Watson's in there.
When he leaves, which mercifully should be around week three, you'll have Shador Sanders,
who's not much better, but at least he'll sling it around, they'll throw it.
I do like Casey Concepcion, and I do like Quinchan Judkins.
So they may not be great week one or week two, but please hold them.
They're very talented players.
All right.
Now to Buffalo versus Houston.
if anybody's on a little bit of history on this,
Josh Allen hates playing at a reliance stadium
or whatever they're calling it this week.
Super Bowl aspirations clearly again on both sides.
You have the Texans with a new running back,
second year coordinator.
Who is sitting and who is staying away from the fantasy football field
this week between these two teams?
Yeah, so I think the question in this game is,
are we going to see Super Josh?
because when Super Josh comes out,
it's all over for the NFL, right?
He has those games where you just had to have them.
But I think Detections defense can limit Super Josh,
if any team can.
But I will start Josh Allen.
I will start James Cook for sure.
Ty Johnson's not playing.
So James Cook is going to get more receptions.
I really like him out of the backfield.
I like DJ more.
I think those three guys are the other three guys
you can start with confidence for the bills.
On the other side, look,
the Bill's defense is,
quote unquote better, but we've heard that before, but we don't see it.
If the bills are a mess defensively, the Texans are going to be, C.J. Stroud may have a
pretty good game.
Nico Collins could have that quick touchdown to start that game.
You know, when he always starts out with like that big play in the first quarter and you get
hyped up and then all of a sudden it becomes a David Montgomery love fest.
I like Bolton Schultz as well.
So I'll start Stroud, I'll start Collins, I'll start Montgomery.
I'll start Schultz if desperate, but I'd rather not if I don't, if I can avoid it.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, your opportunity to get your questions in for Dr. Roto, 713212-5-790, 7-1-3-2-5-790 for Dr. Roto.
With us to the bottom of the hour, it's 9-12 here on Sports Talk, 790.
Your phone calls and more fantasy football getting you ready for week one of the NFL season is next.
Sports Talk 790.
If you have a question for Dr. Roto, let's get him in.
713-213-212-1-2-7-90.
7-1-2-7-90.
The good doctor with us here on Sports Talk 7-90.
If you want to get your fantasy football questions in,
and of course you can always find Roto as well through the Twitter account.
He's very good at responding to those questions at D-R-R-O-T-O.
Jonathan, when you pop the phone callers up for us,
because I don't want to disconnect Roto here.
so let's go to line number three first and say hello to John on 790 for Dr. Roto.
John, what's your question for Roto?
Hey, what's your question for my flex?
Do I start Chris Godwin, D.K. McHaff or Bayshan 2N on my flex? Thank you.
Yeah, I kind of like both. I don't love tooting this week.
I think Cleveland's going to play a little tougher defense than most people imagine.
I like Chris Godwin a lot, to be quite honest with you.
I think that game is going to be a high story.
scoring game. Cincinnati is going to really score
three-four touchdowns in this one. I think
that Tampa Bay is going to be playing from behind.
Godwin sits in the middle of that zone.
I worry a little bit about the Steelers.
Will Aaron Rogers take big
shots down the field? I don't know.
I feel like Godwin is your safest play
this week. Thanks for the
phone call. 713-212-5-790.
Geo for Dr. Rodo-1-7-90. Hi, Gio.
Hey, good morning.
Geo, you're on. Go ahead.
Yes. Hey, good morning.
So for my 12-man league, I was wondering for the flex, either Jameson Williams, Jalen Warren or Parker, Washington, and quarterback, Bo Nix, or Trevor Lawrence.
I'll hang up and listen.
Thank you, Jr.
Yeah.
Look, these are tough questions, right?
I love Jameson Williams.
I love that game environment.
I think they're going to use him more.
Taiwan, is interesting coming back from an injury?
How is he going to do? How is Daniel Jones going to do? I mean, we love Warren, but is this the right spot to play Warren?
And once again, I'm a big Parker Washington fan. I think in terms of the game environment, I do like James and Williams.
But with your team, if I feel a pathway where Lawrence to Parker, Washington makes sense to me because this way you're getting all the points there.
But I think the best plays are James and Trevor Lawrence.
Boe Nix is, I like Bo Nix. I do. You know Sean Payton wants to run the football.
playing Kansas City.
I just have a feeling that game is going to be a little lower scoring than we want it to be.
Were you on Mahomes this year, by the way?
The training camp videos aren't the most complimentary of him moving around.
No, and I think we're going to see Kansas City run the ball a lot more.
Really?
We're going to see a change in that offensive structure.
So you can see Kenneth Walker get 20 tires.
You can see this kid Emmett Johnson.
Remember Taelon Black from last night?
Welcome to Emma Johnson's going to be the same thing.
going to be five to eight touches. I think
they're, Rishie Rice is not in great
shape either. So I think what you do is
you limit Mahomes, maybe give them 35
passing attempts, not 45.
Maybe he's stolen for 223 yards
versus 283 yards. I just think it's going to take
the Chiefs about two weeks to get into
game shape. Could they win? Absolutely.
They're the Chiefs, but I don't know. Denver's a tough matchup.
All right. A email to ask about
Mayfler Allen. You're in
Fort Myers, which is Tampa Bay Buccaneer
territory. A thought or two about the contract. How was he playing in the preseason? And now is he going to
even play even better because he has the money he's been asking for for the last couple of years?
Well, look, I think the bucks had to pay him. Right. I mean, he's earned it. He really has. He's made the
bucks relevant again after Brady and you're like, well, what are the bucks going to do? Well,
now you have Baker Mayfield. And I think that he was going to go on the give me a contract tour and just light it up.
So I think the bucks did the right thing. The problem is with the bucks is the following,
is that Abuka, dealing with the toe injury.
Jalen McMillan, not necessarily healthy.
You got Chris Godwin who's healthy, you got a rookie named Ted Hurst, and you got Tate Aten.
So right now, it's not that I don't like Baker Mayfield.
I do, but does he have all of his weapons?
That we don't know.
That's a last second thing.
You're asking me if I'm playing Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield?
You would argue that Baker Mayfield isn't a better matchup.
But whenever Josh Allen's matchup seems bad, the dude goes for like 260 passing yards,
two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.
I'm never benching Josh Allen.
All right, let's continue on the phones and start with Jake for Dr. Roto on 7 outing at 924.
Jake, good morning.
Yeah, I got a half-point PPR, Flex, Swift, or Bucca.
Yeah, I like D'Andre Swift a lot.
Pamanong guy is not 100%.
I think, you know, if there's a sneaky game that could shoot out,
I think it actually is the Bears and the Panthers.
The Panthers don't shoot out unless the other team pushes them to.
And the Bears have an issue in their secondary.
Bears play a lot of man coverage, and they got a couple of safety's issued, injured.
So could McMillan have a good game, yes.
Could poker have a good game, yes.
I think Swift is going to be in play.
They're going to use them out of the backfield.
I kind of like him a lot.
All right, thanks for the phone call.
Let's go next to Brian on 790 for Dr. Roto.
Brian are you there?
Or did Brian drop?
I think Brian dropped.
Okay.
If you want to get in, last chance for,
to talk to Dr. Roto at 713-212-5-790.
Oh, I got a question, Matt.
No, no, you're not allowed.
A tough matchup with the Toros this week.
Oh, here we go.
This is awful, Roto.
Don't give a bad advice, Roto.
Give it to them.
Half PPR, Burden the 3rd, Parker Washington,
maybe a Quentin Johnson.
Just one, pick one.
Half PPR.
I'm going to stay away from Parker, Washington there.
I like Burden a lot.
Quentin Johnson, do you not think that they're in a
I score four touchdowns this week against Arizona.
I do.
I think Justin Herbert's going to go crazy this week.
So I think Johnson can make that big play,
but if Burden is healthy and he's out there and he's starting,
he's your safe play.
I think he gets six catches for 60 yards,
so you're going to get nine points.
But I think Clinton Johnson has a better chance for that touchdown.
All right, thank you.
I'll keep it safe.
I'm already up 22 points.
By the way, in our draft, Roto,
the very first pick was Josh Allen.
You didn't even tell me your team, M.T.
Who do you even have?
Who's your quarterback?
Please tell me it's somebody later that you took.
Trevor Lawrence.
I have one from you, my friend.
All right.
Now, here's the problem.
I got Atlanta players all over the place.
Bijon Robinson in London.
How bad is two are going to suck in Atlanta?
Just tell the truth.
He's got algae crumpler.
It's crazy.
Oh, my God, epically.
He already has an oblique.
I don't know.
He's already injured the year hasn't started.
By the way, we haven't talked about it.
Brock Bowers is injured.
is a guy named Michael Mayer.
Michael Mayer was a second-round pick out of Notre Dame.
Dude, he's a very good player in his own right.
If he was a starter on most teams,
he probably would be a top seven-over-all-all-tide-end.
If you get a tight-end this week,
and he's out there in your leagues,
I'll pick up Michael Mayer.
All right, let's go to a couple more calls.
Brian on 790 for Dr. Roto.
Go ahead, Brian.
Hey, Dr. Roto.
I followed your advice and picked up my quarterbacks
in the middle of late rounds,
but now I'm in a dilemma between Mayfield,
Kyle Murray and
Caleb Williams to start
this week.
All right. So Caleb
is the safe approach, right?
You know the Bears want to score, and you
know that Caleb is
kind of a miracle worker out there.
So he's your safe play.
I like Kyle Murray a little bit this week.
I think Green Bay's defense is in disarray
without Parsons, but I don't think I'm playing
around here. Caleb Williams is a winning
quarterback. You play him every week, and
hopefully he gets 4,000 yards and
35 touchdowns. All right. Last call belongs to Reese on 790. Reese for Dr. Roto. Go ahead.
Yeah, Parker, Washington, or Terry McClureen? Yeah, so listen, I want nothing to do with the commanders this week.
Nothing. I think their offensive line is decimated. I think their defense doesn't look good.
I look at this, I look at the Eagles and think they could put up 40 points this week. I really do.
I think Hertz has a week. Seaclon, Devontas Smith, Bouther.
Ellis Goddard, you name the eagle, I think they play well.
I love Terry McClellan, the player.
I just worry about this matchup getting out of hand.
That said on the other side, Cleveland worries me because they're a better defense than we think,
but Parker Washington is a very safe play.
You want safe, you take Parker Washington.
If you need the upside, if you're looking at your opponent, you're like, wow,
this dude's got like Gibbs and St. Brown and things like that, then you play McLaren and you try
to hit a home run.
All right, our favorite part of the week, we asked Dr. Rortle to give
us one player who's going to do amazing things for your fantasy team.
We present to you, Dr. Roto's lock of the week.
Yeah, I think this may be the lock of the season.
I think Jemir Gibbs gets 2,000 yards this year.
I mean, he has no backup, there's no Pacheco, there's nobody.
You're playing the Saints who run a very high-paced offense.
The Lens and Saints game could be a 60-point game.
Gibbs is not coming out of this game.
I love him this week.
I think you're looking at a guy who could put up 30 to 35 fantasy points.
Jamir Gibbs, lock him in.
Lock of the week.

All right, that is Dr. Roto with us
here on Sports Talk 7-9.
Our time is 9. 30.
Non-Florist stories are coming up
next. Mine involves
no longer using or needing to use total paper.
That's a tease.
Ross,
what is today's edition of Hellier,
and out at 950?
What?
You had a whole half hour.
What are you talking about?
It's Melbourne.
Oh, all the things about Melbourne.
I can't even do it Melbourne.
Can you do it?
Melbourne?
Australia?
Yeah, that's good.
You're cranky, aren't you?
Cricky?
Cranky?
All right.
All right, we're done.
Terrible Australian accents.
The reason why this show is suffering.
Non-Floras stories next 930 on Sports Talk 790.
We find interesting stories that occur outside the state of Florida
and share them with the people of Hugh.
It's time for non-
There is a story in a recent edition of the New York Times Magazine, Jonathan and Ross.
Quoting Dr. Sean O'Mara or O'Mara.
He is the health optimization physician for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Dr. O'Mara, gentleman, claims that eating his living carnivore diet provides fast, odorless,
and quote-unquote nearly orgasmic bowel movements that require no toilet paper.
Oh, Jesus.
He asserts in this story that a proper healthy bowel movement on this regimen is odorless,
Over in three to seven seconds leaves no residue and requires no total.
What is wrong with you?
RFK Jr., apparently, according to Dr. Amara, adopted his eating plan and credited it with weight loss, which reportedly inspired other political figures like JD Bans to try it. Apparently, you are focusing on grass-fed meat, eggs, cheeses, and fermented foods like kimchi and sourcrow.
Oh, I'll hear about this.
While completely eliminating sugar.
This is not natural.
While completely eliminating sugar, alcohol, and processed foods.
I mean, I'm down with getting rid of processed foods, although it's kind of difficult.
So, but the question would then become, if you have stock and Sherman, are you okay with this?
Hello?
Anywhere there?
We on there?
Why?
Who's this guy?
He doesn't have any power or authority, does he?
He is the health optimization position for Robert Ruffer.
I don't know, but I'm just reading the story.
Dr. Sean Omerer, he's an Irishman.
Oh, Dr. Sean Omeyer.
First of all, what the hell is nearly orgasmic mean?
A carnivore.
Nearly orgasm.
Nearly orgasmic bowel movements.
No, thank you.
Pass.
I'll have some fries and some cookies.
and have regular bowel movements.
Good God.
Well, how are you having the carnivore diet if you're eating cheese?
Orgasmic.
That's not mean?
Three and seven seconds, by the way, and no wiping.
And also, I mean, dairy is something our bodies have adapted to.
It's not natural like our caveman ancestors
and we're mixing up a bunch of grueger in Havarty.
Like, what?
This is so stupid.
I have no, I don't know.
No, no compliment.
Those guys were swearing by it.
We've been eating fruits and berries and vegetables for thousands of years.
Literally one Google search.
One Google search.
Yeah, but they didn't have total of paper back in the 1700s.
No, they did not.
They had some bushes.
And also, you cracked a tooth and you died at 17.
You lived a long life.
I'm Team Sherman.
I want to use it.
You know what?
You know what?
Can we apologize?
Can we get the apology music?
What is this?
No, we don't have to do that.
No, it's the New York Times Magazine.
They did the story not me.
New York Times Magazine.
They did the story, not you, but who brought it up on the show?
Weekday, 6 to 10, sports talk.
Oh, my God.
My friends, is mine not for a story.
Orgasmic?
You didn't get your whatever's going on down there checked out.
I would, yeah, I don't think I'm putting orgasmic in balmed.
I mean, you know, sometimes you really got to go and you're like, ah, this is relief.
No, they're saying, that's not relief.
They're saying it's a euphoric.
Nearly orgasm.
Who's in there with you?
I don't think you're doing it as a tag team.
You're not looking at each other's work.
You're just doing, you know, you're just, I don't know.
Okay, moving on.
That's all I guess.
All right.
I'm going to Dalton, New Hampshire,
where, unfortunately, firefires responding to a call Tuesday morning
as a home was on fire for 30,
old Nestor Roman.
Well,
investigators say
while the firefighters
were responding with multiple trucks
and trying to douse the fire,
Mr. Nestor Roman stole one of the fire trucks.
He drove off in the fire truck,
hit another fire truck in the driveway,
drove over hoses,
and narrowly missed hitting three
firefighters before hitting a
wooden fence.
Another homeowner
called later to report
that a fire truck had crashed into
their lawn and that the
suspect Nestor Roman was trying to
break into their home.
Mr. Roman tried to make entrance
into the back of the residence.
He was arrested after
police were on the scene
and he was subdued during a struggle
and he will face several
charges including reckless
conduct with a dangerous weapon
and burglary.
Roman's home, which is near the
Vermont border in Dalton, New Hampshire
was destroyed in the fire.
No other injuries were reported.
I'm only about three hours from here.
I guess I could go take a look at it myself.
I mean, the firefighters
are trying to help you out with your home
and you steal a fire truck?
You know, why are people stealing other people's
vehicles and then taking them for joy rides?
That's what I don't get.
It's pretty funny. You think they let it burn to the ground after that?
It said they were not,
Yeah, his home was completely destroyed.
Well, I mean, how do they get the water?
Okay, yeah, we're good.
See you later, house.
How far did he go again?
Do we know how far?
He was somewhere in the neighborhood.
He hit a fence and another fire truck and crashed into somebody's house.
Let me ask you this.
Would you rather drive a fire truck, an ambulance, a police car, or the Batmobile?
A police car?
A Batmobile.
What are we talking about here?
That will, yeah.
I mean.
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, do I want to vacation in Cancun or Freeport?
Well, I mean, put this way, if we get a cop car and we are caught in traffic,
we can just put the sirens on and get away with it, right?
Nobody's messing with the Batmobile.
That's true.
Never mind.
What's wrong with everybody?
Go ahead, Jonathan.
Yeah, mine's from Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Apparently, dozens of people were sick after eating famous Gettys Pist.
Health officials in Dane County said that they had reported after eating the pizza.
They felt dizziness and something was going on with their stomachs.
The officials said a restaurant cook ran out of oil and went into a shared commercial kitchen in the same building
and mistakenly took a jug of oil off a shelf that contained Delta 9.
If you don't know what Delta 9 is, it's T. It's T.C.
You don't know what TAC is?
oil. Oh no.
Famous Yeti pieces co-owner
Kail Ryan said
that cooks simply grabbed the wrong oil
and made a whole batch of dough.
Made 60 pieces
and it was contaminated.
THC dough gives you the runs?
I thought we had this before.
They got really stone. He said they got
intoxicated from TACs, so I think it's more alarming than anything
to feel that way. It's basically eating
edible without knowing.
And they're still trying to tell you how many people got sick from this.
It basically proves RH, RFK's doctor's point.
You stay away from the dough.
You stay away from the diarrhea.
And have orgasmic poops.
Matt, wasn't last week with you, someone super glued there?
Yes.
He's fine, though.
And now we got orgasmic.
And what's wrong?
You know what?
We need to launch an investigation.
What is wrong with you?
There's really nothing.
It's...
There's not.
